Doubt weβll ever hatch Volture eggs, not sure why would we want to π
we flew into this world, we can fly out!
That would be, presumably by another unfallen valk
But, but... Flying mounts!!
damn no flying mounts
sorry for the late response
but what kind of pickables, are they bushes or smth like mushrooms
Yeah, I just replies with a joke in mind as many have requested flying mounts in this game.
Smoke puffs (shrooms) and fiddleheads (fern)
alright ty
is there any mod or something that allows you to chat to players like /s but without having to use it ?
#mods-discussion will be a better place to ask π
right my bad
No worries
Any help would be great. I'm on a dedicated server that a friend has sorted for us and quite often when we enter new areas it doesn't load in completely, most of the time its just open areas with nothing, no trees or rocks. Sometimes it will eventually catch up but with a lot of the dungeons caves etc they just don't show. Any help would be great as we've been struggling to figure it
should i craft any melee weapon for moder or do i just completely focus on bow combat?
is there ever even normal landmass I can explore in the mistlands?
or do I need to swim or have the boat around all the time? lol
There is π
Melle will be usefull, but not frostner
personally, she takes big hits from the gorund, it'll be her weak spot
you can easily try to get beneath her while she's on ground and she'll be barely able to hit you properly
I chunked her hp away with a silver knife
also is there a difference between landmass covered in mist and landmass that is not?
is the one covered in mist "better"? in terms of materials maybe?
you need sealbreaker just for open the queen citadel and 3 soilder trophy?
She is there when you open it
owh
no. the mist free one is just mist free, which is a really nice thing
great!
Who is Melle? πππ
Brother of Melee ofcourse π
how can I destroy this black marble for the taking?
Use a weapon, or a hammer and stonecutter
iron pickaxe is good enough or?
thank you;
how do I start getting weapons and armors and stuff in the mistlands? dont remmeber since my last playthrough
You need to find some infested mines and steal from the dvergr
if I anger nearby dvergr, will get away and come back reset their hostility?
or will they rememeber until killed?
food combo for queen raid?
They are angry until they're dead.
damn
how are im suposed to kill the stone golem? like he attacks from like 10 meters so i cant hit him and he attacks every like 3 secods so its not enough to attack him by that time, and the bow is just useless
Parrying them is possible. Iron mace is good option against them.
i used iron mace but its too slow
When you parry their faster attack it leaves them for longer time staggered.
they can keep respawning as angry too, so make sure to mark that tower as an outlier
πͺ
Round shield or buckler are used for parrying.
You should get Banded shield at least.
bruh
POI spawns are always one time.
will he destroy my base while i teleport?
While you are not in same area, no.
omg lol
whar? i remember coming across an old tower i genocided and they was a new batch
are there alternatives? to steal from the dvergr or make them angry?
If you have enough iron you could even upgrade the Banded shield to quality 3, it doesn't cost too much and is still much better than bone shield.
i have 25 i think
Destroy ward with cart and you can destroy everything else
Could just be a zone spawn.
cart?
so ill go craft it
20 is needed for fully upgraded if I recall correctly.
Yep, build cart and smash it into the ward, that will not make them angry
and if they're in the promixity of the tower they're mad?
once the ward is gone if I destroy the crate they won't get mad?
I've no idea where that is coming from, no.
Yep, they will get angry only if something within wards protection is dmged, if there is no ward, they will not get angry π
ahah nice!
guess when the time comes i'll pay attention π€·ββοΈ
Still be careful not to hit the dvergr themselves, thatβll get them mad too
If you are not familiar with parrying, you could try it first against some easier mobs like greylings. Parry happens when you time your block just before the hit connects, which creates a huge "clang" noise and staggers the enemy, leaving it vulnerable against your hits (they take double damage while staggered).
When you get that timing right, then you could try against the Golem, Bonemass power is really useful for that if needed.
bruh i played grounded for so long that i think ill be a master in it
its exactly the same as in grounded
Ya pretty much
Then you should have no problems. π
Only thing to note though is that parrying is kinda useless against bosses (bosses canβt be staggered)
yeah, i just dark souls my way thru the bosses lmao
or maybe do i crfat the one from silver?
Might be a good bet if youβre at that point yeah
what if I hit terrain inside a dvergr area?
will they get mad?
I am not sure, maybe, but again, cart solves it π
i just think anything in the ward
this outpost is sealed off by terrain, if I pickaxe it will they get mad at me?
maybe?
If you have silver then you should craft silver shield as it's better than banded shield.
what about dvergr lanterns? can I pick them up or they get mad too? lol
Could always try and find out for youself (:
You can pick those
General rule though just play it safe if you don't want to fight some little fellas with pretty boosted damage numbers
why does he gets staggered for only like half a second? do i need to do it better or smth?
Golem stagger is pretty short. Works best on other enemies
I do believe one of golems attacks staggers it for much longer than the other ones though
The attack with longer wind up has shorter stagger time but faster attack has much longer stagger.
got him already
I think my scariest golem encounter was trying to take on two of them while in half swamp half black forest gear on a permadeath run without frost resist. Shit was intense, but luckily there was little interference from drakes
It's quite dangerous if you stand near an edge since the knockback can knock you down to your death lol.
Last evening I encountered 3 golems very nearby in my current challenge run (bows only), I was like nope, not enough arrows lol.
lmao
Yea it sucks getting the perfect parry off and still getting yeeted off a mountain
Also that's an interesting challenge, I'm doing the inverse lol: No bows
Nice. I started this bows only permadeath challenge earlier this week and I'm currently still swamp/mountain phase, Bonemass is next boss. I went to look out for obsidian and freeze glands for arrows and found some good frost caves and now I'm rocking with full Fenris set.
I believe I didn't use any bows in my Hard preset world.
Sounds like you're doing good
I love doing challenge runs. I took a long break from Valheim but just came back for a pretty nasty challenge run that I'm excited about
Quite well, Bonemass location is nearby in the first swamp I went and I've found all traders: Haldor was in starter island, Bog Witch in second swamp in same island as the mountain and the first swamp and Hildir location is on the other side of the same mountain. 5 frost caves later I have enough hair for fully upgraded Fenris set.
Huntsman bow is still so good.
I love the sneak tactics on huntsman bow, lowkey best bow in the game
And no one ever makes it π
Is it viable/possible to get fenris armor before bronze
Very underrated one, and it is not even inaccurate like Finewood sometimes is.
It is, but very hard likely.
Not really worth it no, but possible yea
You can use campfires to survive in the mountains, but still gotta find an ice cave and fight very strong mobs in there. Especially if you want a full fenris set
A lot of people do skip bonemass though and go straight to mountain, myself included (partially because I don't want to get hunted by wolves)
Good thing in bow challenge is that I don't need that much metals for gear, so bronze age was quicker and after 2 good crypts I had enough iron for fully upgraded bow, helmet and pickaxe.
But I need to chop much more wood at least tho.
Skipping a lot of the bronze stuff feels so good
I usually just make axe, buckler, and cultivator
and then the buildable stuff
Yeah, same for those plus I like usually craft mace and spear/atgeir depending which I am using with my current character.
Sometimes helmet too if I have no luck with finding Trolls.
They will.
I always make it and skip draugr fang
is there anyway to get tamed wolves to stop howling every 10 seconds? i trapped some from "you are being hunted raid" at my main base and now im thinking about murdering them all π
Can you even tame raid spawns?
uhh well they showed up and then stayed when the event was over shrug
Afaik event spawned mobs cannot be tamed as they always stay alerted.
ive had the same thing happen when the drakes come down from the mountain. if i dont kill them all they stay flying around killing stuff in the black forest until i do kill them ha
i play with valheim plus mod, so that might be why? 0 idea. but the og question still stands. can i get them to stop howling every 10 seconds? lol
No i don't think so, you'd have to kill them to make them stop
womp womp :/ well that really sucks lol. i know back in the day they made a change so boars would stop freaking out over fire....maybe time to suggest to lower the frequency when tamed? ha
Wolves don't howl when they are tamed, except the cubs.
oh awesome!!! that makes sense since i got like 5 cubs right now. thank you so much for the info!
does dvgr ever loose agro if i quit there place and back after some time
The only way to make them lose aggro is to kill them
omg thanksπ©
How do i fix this problem? me and my brother trying to connect but we can't...
Depends on what the issue is. Steam? Crossplay? VPN? Firewall? Wireless?
is there a way for the whisp to dissipate more mist?
cause even with it equipped I still cant see anything............
No, there are no upgrades to the wisplight.
If you could see everything, what would be the point of the mist?
to not enter before you get the whisp?
Thatβs the point though, the mist is a deterrent from entering without the wisp π
But you can make wisp torches to clear mist in an area
You'll be able to build a new placeable torch that can help, you can make paths with them to see through the mist
yeah no I understand, im just saying I was expecting it to actually better dissipate the mists or have a wider radius of visibility while it's equipped
Gotcha gotcha, yeah that seems to be a common stance π€ I always advise not moving too fast, let your wisp keep pace with you.
So anything can be faulty?
Think heβs saying thereβs alot of things that could cause your problem. I think heβs asking for more details π€
how could i know where is the problem... im new to valheim...
Welp, check your firewall for possible blocking, check if you need crossplay, if you're using a vpn turn it off and see if that helps, if you're on wireless instead of proper internet or wifi that could be too slow
do i need a special tool i get from the boss of Plains for that?
Nope, just terraform and drain the pit π
what's the best stamina food in mistlands?
no hp or eitr, just full stamina like bread
I lost all my gear can anybody help me with some gear π₯Ή
I think salad is....the only one? Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong
What'd ya do to it?
Fish nβ bread is another stamina food
An attempt was made.
Like TooMuchDogg said, Fish n' bread is another one, also the best stamina food in Mistlands, but it can be tedious to get since you need to fish anglerfish for it.
3rd stamina food is mushroom omelette, which grant stats between salad and fish n' bread. Salad is the easiest to make from those 3 stamina foods.
specifically anglerfish?
Exactly. They are found around Mistlands waters.
good grief.......................................
It's not that bad when you get a hang on the fishing mechanic. But it can be bit tedious like I said.
Definitely one of the more complex pieces of food to obtain haha
hey yall i got a question
how can we spawn ashwood?
like what is it called in f5
I think it was blackwood.
lifesavor mate thx alot
No problem. π
how do i get rocks on top of mountain without an inventory?
Use a cart
Portal?
no, i forgot to delete my spawnpoint in a small hut on top of a mountain and im too far away from portal
and i cant break the bed cuz its to low for fists attack
and no rocks for hammer
thats what i have + some more wood from destroying walls
Salad because of how easy it is to make even if it's a little bit worse in stats compared to the other main stamina foods. The difference in stamina between the foods is not a big amount for the material & time cost required.
The omelette is also not that costly but salad is indeed the best cost-wise since you get 3 per craft iirc π
damn I completely forgot about eggs after killing yagluth
Same for me on this run XD have yet to either go to the sealed tower or buy from haldor
Get Eggs before killing Yagluth π
nvm i got rocks from my nearby silver "mine"
I like the omlette but if you farm chickens normally it does take a bit to get enough eggs, I've had an issue where they didnt eat for some time yesterday too, never happened to me (feeding barley and had 3 stacks in a small area)
Never really had that issue. π€ But yeah, you have to get decent amount of chickens before you can make them in large quantities. π (That is if you are not making one of those automatic thingamajigs)
is there a trick to this? been here for 10min with nothing happening
do you have it turned around the right way?
Its facing the door in the pulling direction
Try breaking the walls
walls same thing
Then it should be correct, if it has fuel just pull it into the door and it will start punching
doesnt show any dmg, filled 3 times thought it just took a while
are you aligned to the door properly?
Why troll capes?
its blue
Would anyone be willing to help me get more Fulling Totems? I need 2 more. Pacific time.
You can always spawn them in π
That takes all the fun out of the adventure. Im over here raw-dogging the Valheim experience.
then go find more villages π
facing the wrong way
Walls same thing, Only mod is BepinEx
Turn it off anyway, mods do all sorts of weird stuff
I would almost bet its whats causing this mess tho
can u kick someone out of server just in case they fck around?
I can fine villages no problem. Surviving them is the problem.
Then what makes you think you can survive the boss? π
use huntsman bow and get sneak attacks on the goblins it will either 1 or 2 shot them depending on bow skill, huntsman bow has the least amount of noise radius so its the best for this type of play style
Sniping with draugr fang works too but you will attract a bit more enemies
I probably will need help with that too. π₯²π
Doubt bepinex wouldnt have a way to interfere with it
Use a bow to lure out a small group, or walk close but not too close
are the feasts displayable?
All food can be placed with the serving tray. Feasts must be placed before they can be consumed.
@solar glade if you want, you can just build urself in, just like in fortnite. i personally find it easier
and then to access the tower inside, you dig underneath
^^
Imo the boss is definitely harder than most villages, also depends on what weapons you use of course for either.
I used an easy strategy for villages, and killed the boss with 4 others so it was not bad at all like that even though my weapon setup was far from perfect for that boss in the curent run
@steep tusk you said that you normally skip iron armor right?
Aye.
I do too nowadays, but I didn't when I was new and felt weak haha. Root armour is freakin awesome though
I'm also trying to learn to survive in 6th biome with light armour, going okay haha.
whats the next bow after the crude bow?
finewood bow
will the bog witch appear in explored swamps
She will not
What do I need for root armor? I have a bunch of roots but canβt craft the armor
have you got the wood from the swamp trees yet? Needs that and leather scraps / deer hide. Also its made at a workbench not forge
Ahhhh ok I see now. I was looking in forge
does it have to be like.... a big enough swamp or a teeny swamp might have her
can be in small swamps
has to be big enough for the camp though haha, but i have had her in swamps with no crypt for instance
ours is in one of the most concerning spots ive ever seen
Don't mind that, that's just Jim
I somehow got 2 swamp keys, I didn't have 2 before and I know that
Was there someone with you fighting Elder?
Did you drop one, and then reload your character. Thatβs the most likely cause
It's been literally hours since my group fought the elder and they all have their swamp keys
hey guys, am i missing something? for some reason the only pickaxe i can craft is the antler pickaxe, going by wiki i have everything to make bronze
Could you show your inventory?
its not appearing in the forge
You have core wood?
ohhh
Core wood is dropped by pine trees
nope lmao i didnt pick up on that part
Pine trees are found in black forest.
ty ty lol
Np π
guys should i replay valheim but solo this time cuz i beat the game last week with my friend
now im bored and i dont have anything to do
Why not? If you feel like it then go ahead. π
You could try something different like different weapon types or make some challenges.
should i mess around with the world modifiers or just leave it as it is
idk how it will be like playing the game solo
will definitely try that π
You can adjust world modifiers if you feel like, there is nothing wrong with that.
which setting would you recommend that i adjust for solo playthrough
Challenging yourself sometimes can be fun. I'm currently playing a "deathless bow challenge" world, where I can only use bows for a weapon and try not to die.
dangg how much have u progressed so far
It's solely for you to decide. Look up for the options there. π
I started last week (maybe Wed/Thu?), currently in swamp/mountain/plains phase. Bonemass as my next boss, but scouted for mountain and plains for materials. Now going on with fenris armor, have found both Moder and Yagluth altar locations too (very lucky the Yagluth one).
Pros: need less metals for gear. Cons: need a lot more wood than before lol.
in the meadow`s Glade bell666 need help
what does the yellow dmg numbers in the weapon stat mean
That's the damage you actually deal, determined by skill level.
The hit chooses a value randomly between those numbers
ohhh thought it was related to dmg done to enemies weak to it or something\
is anyone able to help me in #mods-issues ?
The people in that channel.
its been 5hr since the last msg in there, there is no people in that chat
Ok, you'll have to wait then I guess.
π
What's that for?
whats what for
The emoji.
I have no idea Derek.
Then why type it?
Like I said, I have no idea Derek.
Weird. Moving on.
@lilac coyote its ok derek I dont need your help
β
what happened? seems valheim-help moved to general lately
should i stay in the mountains at night to get the wolf trophy easier?
mm, would'nt reccomend that, very risky, and regular wolves have the same thropy drop rate as the starred ones
You can make a silver or fenris armor chest piece for frost protection
Wolves spawn more frequently at night too
question everyone if i put mod on valheim will it auto download it as well?, or is it client sided?
i have fenris but isnt it more defense?
Probably best to ask in #mods-discussion π
true, imo not worth the risk, agree with fenris set solution though, usually a single frost cave is enough for the frost-resisting chest piece
All capes (except one in a later biome) have the same defense
oh nvm so prolly just moder now?
ok thx
Usually a single cave? The most one cave has given me is 14
how? its so easy to get alot
not for the whole set, but if we are talking initial frost protection, chestpiece level 1 will be enough
That costs 20 hair
Terrible luck
oh but so like i shouldnt have full fenris armor? or?
From what I've seen, I always find below-average frost caves
yeh right, i got confused with 5 root needed for the other awesome one (root set), right maybe 2 or 3 caves, my most lucky one was 23 though, but a one- time- lucky shot
got in the "1 abomination and you get poison resist forever" and mixed up memories
what arrows shouldi use for moder? fire?
Obsidian
TWO abominations, sry i don't caft that stuff long time
right, i used to go for fire because of Moder weakness, but sheer pierce damage overcomes that, needle even better if you dare to do a bit of early plain scouting (not so deadly with a root chestpiece and being careful)
Are you going to mainly use magic or physical weapons?
physical right now
Mistwalker is a good choice. Bring a feather cape, lightfoot mead and tonic of ratatosk to get around, and poison resistance mead. You will want to use either bonemass or eikthyr power.
Any combination of health and stamina food made with mistlands ingredients, as long as you aren't using three of the same stat, will be good.
alright
im already using mistwalker so i guess thats good
is magic good or no? i have debated using it
looks kinda fun
Some bile bombs for the adds.
It is quite good.
With the 4 staffs available to you in mistlands you have quite the toolbox at your disposal.
Staff of embers, good AoE damage and knockback.
Staff of frost, Good single target and the slow is nice (not easy to aim in my opinion and mostly use embers because of that)
Staff of protection, the bubble lets you parry anything and stagger it (except some specific mobs and bosses), you won't take any damage from any source as long as the bubble has 1 hp.
Dead raiser, skeletons that are a good source of distraction so you can either do some damage while the mobs are focused on the skeletons or you can get away if it becomes too dicey.
You can even bubble your skeletons so they live longer.
It only gets better in the ashlands with the staff of the wild and such.
Don't focus on skeletons too much though, you need eitr to defend yourself
trying this right now, the problem is that you start over with skills from zero, i was almost useless at beginning, now i'm at 50 elemental and 15 blood, it's starting to be a thing, still i would'nt get on a queen fight for now (i'm also not so good at managing the type of fight and need to get better myself, besides skill levels)
The skeletons are a distraction and can certainly be used to defend oneself, run away, cast one and keep on running the mobs will target the skeleton and you can get away.
magic is the most OP shit in the game
The skills on 0 feel to be on par with where you would be with other weapons once you hit mistlands in my opinion.
Eating 2 eitr and 1 stamina food and having the bubble up constantly reduces the danger significantly, you can run for longer and jump more to reposition oneself or get away from mobs.
The mage can't tank very well but can be very mobile since you don't need any stamina for fighting.
boring. lmao, i love just darksouling my way thru games like this, i dont like playing ranged with it that much
You could try a combination of magic and melee
yeah, possibly
The magic shield is very useful in melee combat because you take 0 damage from any hit and can therefore parry any blockable attack
yup, i'm slowly learning all of this, at start i was helpless, also trying some mixed armor (example eitr robes and legs, but with fenris hood sacrificind 20% regen for more speed, still unsure)
ya id recommend sticking to melee
magic is basically u kill everything from range with 0 risk
if u want tho, u can kinda play "hybrid" where u use only protection bubble and all offensive actions come from melee
I went full mage so that I get my Eitr back quicker.
I also always have some potions with me, stamina, health and eitr.
yeh, full eitr set is probably better, unfortunately not this badass looking π #screenshots message
True.
will queen spawn as soon as i open the dvergr vault?
more or less--she already spawned actually, unique among the other bosses in that regard
tahnks
yeh, still have to fight it, but i read you just have to make a sealbraker once, then just sacrificing trophys if you want a rematch, right?
can someone give me a definitive what does beating each boss unlock mob-wise quick rundown? I dont need each, im just confused on one aspect
beating dear, unlocks next level raids
beating tree unlocks next level raids
beating sludge unlocks next level raids
DO THEY ALSO,
deer - nothing
tree - harder enemies spawn in meadows
sludge - harder enemies spawn in meadows
etc like skeles and brutes/dwarves? is there a mod to stop this aspect of it?
correct you basically got it, each boss defeat unlocks next boss' biome raids and current-boss night spawns even in meadows.
You can limit or even shut raids with world modifiers, but can do nothing for added nightime spawns
current boss as in ill get skeles and icky bois after sludge? and wolves after the next one? etc
i thought i heard of a mod to stop this, do you know it? i dont expect lol just asking
nvm i found it with the power of google thank you
You mean something like this:
yes but it didnt confirm the whole night time spawn monsters thing specifically
zero knowledge about modding, i dont use em, but the top response image sums up night spawns unlocks well
do mobs of biomes you have beaten spawn at night around you?
i just saw a fuling in the middle of a meadow
there is no plain biomes for km around, no land connection
it answered all my questions thank you vincitore, i dont like mods but i want an evergreen immersive building server and am so sick of a power gamer ruining it
yup, correct, works like starred wolves in mountains despawning at dawn, exception for draugrs after bonemass, they can also spawn in meadows during daytime if it's foggy weather
Why do my friend and I have a ping of 160 in the shared world, and if each of us logs on to another server, there is a ping of 50?
Either that or finding another Queen boss arena.
so sealbreaker won't "vanish" after being used, like a swamp key, right?
Yeah, you can just use it again.
clear, thanks
are swamp cripts the only way to get iron?
or is there any other way to get it like mopdrops for example
Not the only way, but they become more relevant in later biomes.
can you tell me how to get more in later biomes?
we are already in plains
i just wanna know the options
Oozers can drop iron scrap and scrap iron piles can be found underground in swamps. Also fishing giant herring can grant iron ore.
and which way would you use to farm iron the fastest if you are in the endgame?
In Mistlands there are mineable sources for iron (and copper). And demolishing some structures with iron cage inside drop smelted iron.
I just mentioned those but you managed to reply before mine.
For big yields it's the only way (before mistlands), there are open field scrap piles in swamp but they're rare and require a wishbone, for smaller yields there's mountain caves reinforced doors, oozers and giant herring fishing-and-praying
Right, also sealed towers have cages that provide iron when demolished.
and in mistland the fastes way is to demolish stuff like bridges for the iron cages?
Correct, bridges have iron cage inside which drops smelted iron.
Also ancient armour / swords get you a decent amount
alright thanks guys
just killed moder
any tips for plains?
alr is there a specific dmg type thats clearly stronger or weaker?
The pierce resistance on the harnesk helps you greatly, the fire weakness can be a problem but you can offset that (jump in the water if you need to)
My archer pal really seemed to shine in the plains, but i don't think that's because of the pierce damage of arrows
so pierce good?
Good until the boss
and before boss?
Pretty good, but I don't think there's a plains spear (and no plains bow)
Yeah I think that's the only pierce weapon
ok
and whats yagluth weak againts
Very good piece of equipment, but you will be a bit way inside plains progression when you'll able to max it
He's an undead boi, spirit works
Spirit damage.
Which means the silver sword and the Frostner are the best weapons to deal with him.
Silver sword is the best weapon for Yagluth
Alr
So
Atgeir For plains until boss
Root harnesk needed
Silver sword For boss?
Porcupine got mixed blunt/pierce, got me trough Yag, but frostner killed him
Honestly yeah that's all u need
If u ever wanna do a sealed tower Atgeir is ur best friend there
Actually, ooze bombs are.
Nah i tried using them as well and Atgeir did way better there
The bombs are better in mistlands vs the || seeker broods ||
With atgeir you need to enter the rooms the Fuling are in and deal with them with the rotating spin; which will also hit the walls and thus you loose lots of damage if you postion yourself wrong.
With Oozebombs you lure the Fulings to the door, drop one or two ooze bombs there and the DoT does the rest. Smash the door, enter the room and mop up the ones with few health left.
To me that works a lot better as loosing dmg output on hitting walls I'm not wanting to hit.
Atgeir don't have mtp so you won't lose dmg even if u hit a wall
Advantage of ooze bombs is that they work through a door. So you don't have to face a large group.
It's basically the same in the infested mines. Lure the monsters to a wooden wall, drop the ooze bomb (or bile bomb later), lure them again if you hear a noise, drop a 2nd ooze bomb and you can be certain that a large amount of the monsters are dead.
Which weapons are you using?
Bronze sword?
Lmao
Being a little bit more specific will help a lot.
fader should not be out regening u guys unless u are barely trying to even damage him
@cedar lodge π
The one casting the trolls, is (s)he also able to use the Staff of the Wild?
Ye if they have enough eitr
If so, use that. Those vines are doing a lot more damage and you won't risk that the trolls target you instead.
yeah it took me punching with bare fists to have that effect
tbh damage type doesn't matter all too much in plains
no weaknesses?
does building upgrades increase spawn protection range, or jus build range?
Both
Both.
thank you both
There's some pierce resistance and some blunt weakness in plains, but most the main enemies don't care too much about what you use against them. Just don't use pierce against the big fluffy fellas in the biome, and don't use pierce against boss
I recently had a problem with sounds in the game, Iβm just running around exploring the world and at a random moment the sound of mobs walking, etc., will disappear, and the only thing that helps is re-entering the game, only the sound of walking, etc. will disappear, music is present, maybe you know what the problem is ?
I'm playing with a friend, I think it can be considered a server :D
I thought the problem might be in the mods, but my friend doesnβt have these problems.
what should I do to just reset the crafting and construction recipes on my character?
Make a new character.
Or use devcommands.
what code should I use to keep my skills but lose crafting and construction recipes?
Create a new character, open Devcommands in the console and use "Raiseskill [skill] X" (whereas X is the level you want it to be) to get your skills to the level you have them at the current character.
But without the quotes. π
Or brackets
I think it's not properly attached. Think you need the slab to rest on the very top of the pole, not inside it.
Not an expert tho
Also I've heard that there Is a way to turn off the skill lost through the devcommands console... Can't remember the input from the top of my head tho
do ||haldor ||and ||hildir || buy gems at the same price or should i rather sell to one more than the other?
All merchants give the same prices for selling
ok, thanks
How the hell does one find the Queen Vegvisir
I have searched 6 continents and 25 Mines and no Queen Runestone
It took me a while last time, just keep searching mines and hope to get lucky π°
Right there with ya- honestly Iβm kinda happy about it though, itβs nice to use my mistlands gear for the mistalnds instead of just the boss fight π
If there is any vegvisir that should be more common, it's Yagluth's
Me and my boys have been ready to fight her for a week, the only thing stopping us is the Vegvisir
Just RNG, keep looking
This too, both of them need a fix
you can always use || valhiem-map.world || if u cannot find her in a mine
Nah, queen is not that bad π
We got rlly lucky and found Yagluth in the 3rd Plains but the Queens is literally unfindable for us
I would have but it's a server and the FTP inaccessible and support keeps responding like a bunch of muppets to each ticket
ftp?
File Transfer Protocol, for the log files
is there no way to get the world seed?
I wanted the .fwl but the server isn't letting me get the log files
Type printseeds in console
if u press f2 im pretty sure it shows
nah, F2 doesent have it
On my last world 1st time I entered mistlands I've seen the "special spiky stones" from afar so I went there thinking "boy the fastest I ever found the mine" - that was the queen liar haha
ah
Nope, I even tried using Cheat Engine to decode the bytes
Open console, type printseeds π
I got the seeds for all my local worlds, server world has a dummy seed called "dummy" which made me want to throw hands
U can see the world seed in the lobby (before u start Ur world)
Tried this as well, it gives a dummy value for some rsn
After u choose the character - u can see "world name" "modifiers" "seed"
Yeah, but doesent work for servers i believe π
servers suck lmao
This is for local worlds
Ah yikes mb
They can be very nice if you get few friends to play with you π
Yea, they're asscheeks but we didn't have a stable host that could be online at everyones convenience so we resorted to server since we have 12 ppl
But now the support staff is making me pop an aneurysm into 4 consecutive seizures
On the other hand with 12ppl u should be able to search through every pixel of mistlands in the world in a week
Are you or the server using any mods maybe?
Nope, not me at least
is there a way u can download the world file and put it in ur local worlds folder?
That's the FTP server, yes I should be able to but Filezilla isn't letting me access it
how to remove HUD in valheim?
It keeps throwing errors because of port mismatches despite using the right port
Is there any possible way to change my characters appearance while keeping skill progression?
im the host of the server if that means anything
You can change your hair with a barber station
It can also change the beard, and is unlocked by buying a barber kit from Hildir
thats how u get the barber kit?
Hildir?
sorry im new, i just find the trader randomy do i?
Yes, just sail around until u see an icon popping out on Ur screen
She spawns 3000-5100 meters from Ur spawn (according to wiki, and I feel like that's right)
The map is what... 10 000 meters radius (correct me if I'm wrong)
So if Ur desperate - zoom out Ur map measure (eyeball it) 1/3-1/2 distance from Ur spawn to the edge and then start sailing around there in a circle aroun Ur spawn
ah thank you
Just want to add that there are some new hair and beard style options from barber station that you cannot choose in main menu when creating a new character.
Huh. TIL. Interesting, thanks.
Thanks for sharing, I actually didnβt know that! 900 hours inβ¦ π€¦
Better later than never @desert monolith @stoic trench
Is there a command for moderators that clears all objects on the ground, by chance? Whether or not its a mod doesn't matter- we are having serious framrate drops because of a few bases that constantly have stuff on the floor due to wildlife (Necks, Boars, etc.) dying to base defenses. It drives us insane π
removedrops
Thank you :3
Good night. One question, is anyone having trouble connecting to multiplayer after today's update?
Considering there hasn't been any update in the first place I'm pretty sure no
Is there a mod that gets rid of the yellow thingy? I need it to go away so I can make precise placements
Whatβs the point of upgrading the hammer?
More durability
besides its super cheap
Without too many spoilers, what are the general spawning rules of the new bog witch? Is it a Haldor/hildir situation where she has a bunch of spawns in swamps around the world and the first one you go to she will appear at and stay forever?
yes
She works like hildir and haldor
same spawns as em
Tf am I supposed to do when the wind is in the exact opposite direction of where I need to go
This is fun
Zig zag or moder power my dude
also speed one is paddling
speed 2 half sail, speed 3 full sail, 1 works well with no wind is obviously slow but can go 100% against wind
also "zigzag" is called tacking if you want to google i
Wait (pretty good plan), paddle or zigzag (okay plan), find somewhere else to sail to (pretty good plan), or use Moder power (very good plan, but dependent on progression)
Alright thanks guys. Donβt think Iβve unlocked moder power so paddling it is
If its night you can also sleep. Sleeping changes wind direction
sleeping to change wind direction only works with a) pocket portal b) a shore nearby of a safe-ish biome
Doesnt logging do the same thing?
I believe not because I think weather is tied to the ingame day/time
wind maybe too but I am not 100% sure
Hey all so I took a long break and came back and thought I was ready for the mistlands seeing how I was rolling through the plains with ease. Had full upgraded black metal weapons and padded armor. Landed on the mistlands and got mobbed by seekers. Should I just re roll a character and re learn the game seeing how it's been a while since I've played? I feel like I'm missing some stuff or like something in the natural progression of the game.
Its possible I was thinking about status affects then
that would work for poisoned etc
Can my boat float away like this or will it stay?
Depends on you, 2 suggestions. a) Get help from someone or recover your gear, make a small base nearby biome just outside Mistlands and do small adventures into the mist to learn it, you have the item you unlocked after killing Yagluth I hope haha. b) Start a full new playhrough with a new character which to me is always hella fun, I often set myself new goals like using a new weapon or something c) Find friends / server that are starting Mistlands
It will stay but monsters might destroy it if you are nearby it and don't watch it carefully
its stays, dw
and if the resources drop into deep enough water they can despawn relatively fast
Does fire scare every monster?
I mean, this could happen but in my 300 hours this has never happened other than the time I visited ashlands and they destroyed my drakhar
If you move away from it quite far and fast it will be fine just leaving it there as the "zone" its in will not be loaded by the game, and therefore no monsters attacking it, and it does not float unless a player is on it
Not all of them, there are factions in the game. The forest faction is scared by fire
happened to me in plains and even in black forest and swamp about 4 times or so, over my 2600h
Then this just means I was somewhat fortunate so far in all my runs LMFAOO
I docked in the plains. My first experience was getting 1 shot by a mosquito so this should be interesting
I also sail A LOT, love it and sometimes explore with a pocket boat
ah, the deathsquito
The deathsquito is such a nice warm welcome to the plains. I did the mistake of going there in iron armor accidentally my first time
deathsquitos are harmless... if you are a) a great fisherman and have caught groupers b) have visited the big witch c) enough coins to have bought fragrant bundle from the witch d) got some cloudberries already e) have made a wonderful new mead --- or you can also wear root chest piece
Also. I have you have a sheild, you can parry deathsquitos. Basically as soon as they get to you just hold block
I like the aesthetic of the plains. This is nice
πhavenβt done any of those
Wait till you see the mistlands without the mist
Trying to make my way to the witch because I assume sheβs next to bone mass
At least I hope so
She does spawn in spawn. yes
someone posted a seed where she was next to a bonemass, but I have always found her in non bonemass swamps the 5 times I found her
same lol
I have 2 worlds where I found her next to hildir or haldor
Like directly next to eachother
How do I get tar out of tar lol
Gotta drain the tar by digging a channel out for it to flow out, or fill the whole with ground using the hoe
Can be kinda finicky
nah, plains is still the best looking biome imo
lol SAME
No thats Ashlands and DN (from what I have seen from spoilers so far)
nahh
So does everything in the plains just do insane dmg
If you're in Wolf Armor and have good food, no (unless starred enemies).
Once you get Padded they do even less.
No, like normal fulings non starred are easy, the scariest for me are tar monster Growths especially if there are like 6 of them, also plains did used to be the final biome before the others were added
Oh so I should do mountains before plains?
Ok that makes sense because Iβm gettin my ass kicked
As you cannot process any of the metal in the Plains without the Mountain Boss item.... yes.
Alright still gotta find witch and fight bone mass so Iβll do that after
And as the Swamp resources unlocked Frost Resist Mead, that was the game telling you to go there next. (It could be more apparent, but sadly it is not).
yes, it is 100% tied to time/day
i.e. the wind will be in an east direction on the night of day 1 etc.
So do you normally just wander upon merchants when exploring? Or does it vary? Haldor was right next to the elder for me, not sure if thatβs normal
its literally random (within defined procedural rules). So there is no requirement for Elder and Haldor to be next to each other.
The only part is they both spawn in black forrest, but Haldor has to be a certain distance from start, Elder doesnt.
So its just luck/random when you find traders - there are no in game tools or clues to find them without jsut general exploring their possible spawn radius and biome
Interesting. Harbor was so close to Elder that I could literally just stay in harbors zone and shoot the bow at elderπ
Yeah - that can happen sometimes. Same as the next trader in the next biome with the next boss.... its rare but possible.
can any1 help pls?
watcha need?
With what?
not sure why but i cant fill this gap with this wall it keeps breaking
it is grounded when i place it also
oh wait nvm it was floating of the walls
glad you could figure it out
Just become a Root Harnesk gremlin
That Armor is so insane that it's viable even in Ashlands
Itβs very useful against the boss there
Reducing 50% of pierce damage makes the armor value of any other Chestplate pretty much useless in front of it
As melee, it makes ranged mobs a breeze and as ranged, it allows you to ignore some melee ones like ticks and seekers
If you combine it with the serpent scale shield itβs possible to take zero damage from Faderβs spin (a damage number doesnβt appear)
and morgans
Yea it makes the damage 0 if your other Armor is good
Fader deals almost 100% pierce, just need Barley Wine for his Fire damage
All of his physical damage is pierce except for low blunt damage on the meteors
And Fire damage
But the Fire damage is also rlly low as long as you don't continue to take it
Unless an Armor piece has >100 Armor it isn't surpassing Root Harnesk ability for Fader
Is there another armor from the plains than the patted things with iron and threads
Some armor with black metal?
Im kinda searching for a armor that doesnβt let me move with 1/day
with the 10% from the armor and another 10% slowness from the weapon and shield im practically standing still
No but the Fenris set from the mountains is pretty good and makes you zoom across the map, it also has fire resistance so is quite good against yagluth.
I usually go, troll --> root --> fenris --> eitr weave --> embla / asksvin
But fenris set has such low armor:(
We already beat yagluth and now moving into mistlands
Armor only matters if they actually hit you.
It has low armor but since you are faster on your feet it lends itself to a hit and run or ranged approach playstyle.
If you are more into tanking and getting in the face of the mobs you'll have to use the padded.
The fenris set with a buckler and dagger and bow as backup is really good in my opinion.
Shoot them with the bow to start and if they get close switch to buckler and dagger and do the leap attack, if that doesn't stagger, let them take a swing, parry it to stagger and stab away.
Fenris in Mistlands needs some skill, thats what I am doing right now, for a super new player probably need a bit higher armour rating imho
overall I have never met a game where all the things are so viable in different situation, on default Valheim settings SOOOO MANY things just work if you know how to make them work, Iron Gate has done amazingly achieving this @ Smiffe π
Alright thanks
-# and yes this game is very balanced
I recommend just using RootHarnesk+PaddedHelmet+MaxedCape with the leggings being your choice
The Harnesk only gives -2% movement speed, but it makes you weak to fire so you'll need Barley Wine for fire res
But it makes you resistant to pierce, which makes normal Seekers and Ticks a joke. However, Gjalls will conversely be a bigger threat and you need Barley Wine for downing before fighting Gjalls.
You can also use the Fenrir Leggings to move faster or the Padded Greaves to compensate for the armor loss from the chestplate @cold crater
Mmmh yeah thank you, i will probably switch my weapon and shield (frostner and serpent) to get more agile and the barley wines arent a problem for me we got plenty of mead ingredients
thing is if you move away from raw armor, u're gonna have to start dodging stuff a lot more
idk if you're new to the game emel07, but that usually involves knowing enemy movesets
I usually paried alot in the beginning because i liked the stagger but that is getting hard when you get swarmed with to many enemies at once
Which is why mixed armor using Root Harnesk is the best cuz it lets you do anything from dodging to just sprinting and even tanking damage head on with minimal sacrifice depending on the enemy
I got around 200h atm but never been this far in the game, but i would say valheim enemies are pretty easy to dodge
Like yea I can't tank a Charred Warrior but Marksmen shoot toothpicks so I can just ignore them
alright, yea just try it out and if you're failing to dodge stuff and taking huge dmg, i recommend going back to full raw armor
And especially in a game like Valheim where they throw hordes at you, it's nice to be able to ignore some of them fully
also hp food helps a lot if u're tanking a lot of hits
Not in Mistlands because you need Stamina for traversal of terrain
just talking about the combat
you're not gonna do much traversal at all if you're getting bodied
Yea but they said they were going Mist so I just added context
@cold crater Another good idea is to craft the Lightfoot mead
Oh when do you unlock that?
After killing a Hare and getting Scale Hide
Oh thats ashland stuff
Mistlands
Wait is hare the balloon?
That's a Gjall, Hares are the rabbits scurrying on the ground
They run rlly fast and are hard targets unless they fall in water
Hares also unlock rlly good recipes
I guess they are not tameable?
Nope
You can use their meat in Meat Platters and Misthare Supreme
I usually make Meat Platters cuz it's easy to hunt Hare Lox and Seekers, but Misthare Supreme needs Jotun Puffs and I'm lazy to make a farm
And once you unlock magic, Seeker Aspic is the way to go if using staves
I dont know what any of these are atm π
But i will find out soon
You will
Also use Plain Pie Picnic Feast when entering Mists
I dont have feasts unlocked yet
50min buff and it's very stat heavy vs other food you'll have access to
Oh yeah we have a portal there
Get a Serving Tray and Grassland Spice
I will check the shop out again
Grassland Herbalist Harvest
+3 Bread + 2 Lox Pie + 5 Cloudberries
This makes 10 servings of the Pie (500 minutes of buffs)
It'll give +55 HP +55 Stam
is it possible to have my friend trasfer a world download to me then i host?
They should be able to send you their world files
is it possible to host the same server because thats something weven been wondering
hes often busy and cant host and idk if theres a way around it
If you will keep sending each other the files with most recent changes then technically, yeah.
I am not aware of any
unfortnate
You could get dedicated server, but you would need either to have one other device that would run permanently or to pay for a server
i see
side note, i just finished up mountain for the first time and was wondering how viable it is to set up a base at plains
besides mosquitos and all
Oh its plenty viable, lots of people decide to make their main base there π
all i know is that root armor really helps
Yep, reduces piercing dmg by half π
Still using it in mistlands in place of fully upgraded heavy mistlands-tier armor chestpiece
If you want to plant everything you only need the plains and the mistlands, so i built my main base on a mistland plains border
Root harnesk and Bonemassβ pierce resistance donβt stack
ah unfortunate
It does stack with the serpent scale shield though
is it better to parry or block
ive found that parrying lets me stagger and kill the mob easily a lot
why does kvastur have a healthbar?
Depends on the playstyle
There are certain shields that give you more bonus shield for parrys (mostly bucklers) and tower shields have higher stats but in return dont let you parry
thqats what ive noticed but later on does parrying become less viable?
Because it's a creature
than can be killed?
yes
do i get something from killing it?
A kvastur trophy
does he respawn?
Yes
Very good decoration if you want to show thar you keep your base clean
Parrying becomes more viable because its main downside, the stamina cost, doesnβt increase through progression while your max stamina does.
I see thanks
how my building getting destroyed even the foundation is good?
Can maybe mobs attack it?
"Foundation is good" - what is it made of, what r u building Ur floors from? Etc?
(That building system is more complex that one might think at first - not hating it here, I love it actually, just took me a while to experiment before I actually figured it out)
to give you an idea of my current progress, I just killed Yagluth and I started venturing into the Mistlands; what's my best source of gold farming? killing fulings?
killing fulings and looting mistlands dungeons and chests in Plains
Mistlands dungeons should have a lot of coin, once you get to that point
is Sledgehammer considered a "club" in the skill tab?
Yes, sledgehammers and maces are all clubs
Open build menu & pick ur feast
ok I figured it out lol thanks
the serving tray is given back after consuming a feast?
Serving tray is a tool to place food on surfaces, not a consumable
great!
Does anyone know why my dedicated server join code/IP keeps changing every few days? My friend has to constantly re-add the server because it keeps changing and he can no longer connect
I'm using the one off of steam
Any idea why that happens? I just run it and leave it
Oh I see, I had crossplay on as it was there by default. I'll remove it and hopefully it helps
what do chicks eat?
mostly seeds & also dandelions
any kind of seed?
anyone ever load up an old server and the spawn is surrounded by water?
I don't know if they eat the seeds added later for ivy and ashvines, but carrot turnip and onion seeds definitely
I believe they eat tree seeds too, although tbh I've never kept chickens
oh they may, i haven't tested those
Yep they do eat aΕ₯ least beech and birch seeds iirc
Huh, I think tending to chickens is like my 3rd favorite thing to do in Valheim
Canβt get enough chicken content
I basically never tame anything
I love taming things mostly! But I think itβs really cool that itβs purely optional and that players who enjoy different parts of the game can enjoy those parts
pretty sure this gets asked alot but whats the best way to approach the swamp. im always getting jumped maliciously and its hard to raid it when theres so many mobs
First focus has to be your diet- gotta have the best foods available. Make sure you keep your rested buff up, bring healing meads, and carefully manage your stamina.
im dumb i forgot mead was a thing.
Poison resist mead very important too
and bring a nice bronze buckler for blocking and/or parrying those baddies!
thats a thing
Basically makes you immune to poison, which is a gamechanger for swamp
If you find yourself taking too much damage, I recommend 2HP focused foods. And yeah, poison mead is extremely useful for the swamp.
Avoid the swamp at night for now.
yeh i never go at night. bronze buckler poison res mead and better food. i just made the jam i wanted to get turnips for a spice rack
I wouldn't generally recommend going triple food, but I find triple food to be pretty good when inside a swamp dungeon. Depends how well you manage stamina though
When not in a dungeon though you definitely want to have a stamina food. Or else you're dead in the water running aruond swamp
Food is the most important stat in the game...
i am horrendous at stamina management so im trying to get better at it
i learned that the hard way when an abomination smacked me to valhalla
would upgrading my bronze armor also be worth it
I think so personally, but far from necessary. Itβs nice to have for sure.
Food > armor upgrades though
true true ty ty
Do you really like taming the animals, or taking care of em
Haha fair, itβs tending to the animals that I really enjoy
i havent beaten bonemass and wondering if corewood is gonna be more useful later in the game, i have so much of it but barely any use
Honestly no, corewood is largely useless. Regular wood is always used, and finewood is used for a lot of strong things
Could always burn your corewood for coal, or use it for building a house
yeah thats what i thought too, just using it for coal aswell
Yall whats The best combo most of The Time For food
2 Stamina 1 health?
1 Stamina 2 health?
1 Stamina 1 health 1 feast?
(Sepearte answers including and not including eitr food plis π)
I haven't tried the feasts yet but I'd highly recommend 2 health 1 stamina for general play.
For Eitr play you could go 3 eitr food, or my personal favorite of 1 health 1 stam 1 eitr, so you can do up close combat supplemented by magic shields and a fireball here or there
Okay just asked since i find Myself either being out of health or out of Stamina depending on how i do food π
2 hp 1 stamina general use
2 stam 1 hp mining
1 hp 1 stam 1 eitr - combat mage
3 eitr - full mage (idk abt this one tho)
2 feast 1 stam or hp depending on what u need - end game combo
Ok ty
Depends a lot on what biome you are on, for example when I was on mountains I used wolf jerky (balanced), eyescream (stam) and sausages (hp) as they were available in large quantities
I run 2 Stam 1 Health most of the time or hybrid-meleemage 1H 1S 1E, full mage 3 Eitr. This is something that I'd highly recommend figuring out what works best for you, what difficulty you play on and what armour and weapons you're using.
i've not tried hybrid mage but a lot of people seem to sign its praises
full mage > hybrid > melee (+ bow)
I don't like it because u either end up focusing too much on the melee/ranged part or the magic part
melee > magic > hybrid imo
im just talking like what performs best
I'd agree with barney for performance, the more mage you have in the build the stronger you will be because magic is really OP
But hybrid is still pretty strong and (imo) a hell of a lot more fun. The mage part is mainly for making shields for yourself for survivability, but it's also good for chucking a fireball or something at a couple gathered enemies here and there
how far away can the skull for bonemass spawn away from the marker?
Should be right on it, but if it isnt i assume this is older world?
a little older
Before bog witch?
yeah
but on the seedmap the marker matches with the one ingame, and the one ingame was marked before any new update came out
update after the world was made
Then you will have to get new marker unfortunately (just visiting the vegvisir you got this one again will do), the bog witch update moved some locations on already existing worlds so if you had marker before it is no longer accurate.
And the seed generator doesent take into account that worlds might be made in one version and then get updated, you would have to put the game files into it for accurate locations π
ok, thanks
are the different standing torches purely visual or some burn for longer ?
Iron torches are significantly more fuel efficient
thanks
While i know you asked about standing torches, scones are also pretty good π
yup ive heard of that, just wouldnt look as good as a standing torch where i want to place it
So after killing bone mass I should go all the way north and explore those mountains?
All the way north? If you mean into the deep north, you shouldn't go there yet as it is currently a placeholder for 1.0 content.
But going into a normal mountain is ok
Oh ok so just explore the mountains on each island
Explore the Mountains, yes. Not the final biome.
Anybody know why my βThe Elderβ boss is so much stronger than what I see online? Iβve used nearly 200 fire arrows and heβs not even on half health.
Are you fighting him in multiplayer with other players? Multiplayer increases the health of nearby mobs depending on how many players are in the area
Could be a variety of reasons why you don't feel like you're doing as much damage.
- Level of your bow
- Type of bow (crude or finewood?)
- Level of your bow skill
- Do you draw the bow to max before releasing?
- Are you continually shooting him, or have you died and come back? Because he does continually regenerate health
- If multiplayer, he has more health
- If you're on a higher difficulty he takes less damage
Just me.
- Pretty sure my bow is leveled enough, but if I die Iβll level it more.
- Finewood
- Refer to question 1
- Yes
- Continually shooting, havent died.
- Single player.
- Standard difficulty, Iβm new.
With level of the bow, it's not the skill that's meant, but how many times you've upgraded it at the workbench.
Because a tier 1 finewood bow does less damage as a tier 4 finewood bow. Even at the same bow skill.
^
Tier 1 vs Tier 4 finewood bow might be making the difference. Other than that seems like you're doing good. Bow damage is heavily dependent on your characters actual bow skill too though, I would think a lot of people fighting Elder might have it at like 20-25 ish
Ahh I see, might have miss-read the question
and gain 3 skill levels over the course of the fight
I see, I have level 1 then, are the levels really that significant?
fairly
Is that a threat or a command?π
You can see the damage increase if you try and go to upgrade. Pretty decent boost
comment, people will gain skill levels over the course of the fight
Oh interesting, do people farm him for bow skill?
Also specifically for bow, having your character level up his bow skill is a pretty big change. I think 0 bow skill vs 30 bow skill is over double the DPS. For other weapons skills are good too but not as important
People definitely farm the boss after Elder for bow skill ;)
fair blocking trainer to
Alright, thanks. Iβll upgrade it if I die. Just a quick question though, is the stomp parry-able?
Probably with a buckler
just axe the elder to death, its a tree after all
I have a bronze shield, and sword
:D
And a dream
Bet heβd like that
Yes. Although, you can't stagger bosses. So parrying is just for avoiding damage. A lot of people roll instead because it costs less stamina, but honestly up to preference
Alright thanks.
question about world modifiers - does increasing the resource rate affect the drop chance on rare drops, such as Soldier Trophies? Thanks!
@marble roost @sleek herald I killed him, I found it much MUCH easier by parrying, rolling and slashing. Thank yβall for the help.
Honestly I'm surprised you found melee easier, but I guess that just means you're a badass ;)
No it doesn't increase the chance.
It just will drop 2 (or more) instead of one trophy IF a trophy drops.
Are the trophies even affected by the modifier π€
how wo u get load of seeds for tree farm for u wood needs
bummer, but at least i have a chance at more than 1! so just as good i guess....:)
Cut lots of trees
Non-mage: HHS or HSS (depends on your playstyle if you need the extra stamina vs. extra blocking power)
Mage: EEF
Iβve been playing on 1.5 resources, I havenβt been getting double trophies π€
for efficent wood farming "beech seeds" and "fir seeds" from there respective tree types, beech trees from meadows and fir trees from black forest
but if you can mark any oak tree that you come across and cut them down in the future once you get a bronze axe or better
I cut enough oak trees to get like 15-20 acorns, then start a farm with those
oak trees will be your main source of wood and finewood
but if youre specifically looking for finewood, birch trees and oak trees is were you get them, bronze axe or better is required to cut these down
it is advised to start a tree farm
as soon as you can
not only for building but for making coal
If Iβm not looking to start a tree farm, Iβll slap a portal down in a wooded plains area of birch trees and use that for my fine wood
You mean birch trees? π
that could work but not for long as theres only some much you can cut down, vs a farm you can continously cut down trees for as how much seeds you can plant
i just ran out of oak seeds and now i have 107+ beech seeds to plant
LOL yesβ¦ I meant birch trees π€¦ββοΈ
Hmm well, how much finewood does one really need? π Iβve yet to cut down an entire forest. But yeah, they are technically limited.
alot
bc finewood can be used for coal
Yeah, misspelling "birch" or leaving letter out of "count" can get really awkward xD
lol
for fighting boss should using small shield or big shield?
Depends on your playstyle, both are viable
I usually like to use standard shields, as I like the flexibility of movement speed- but both are viable no doubt.
@stoic trench
I think they meant parrying, and its not really useless, just less usefull than parrying normal mobs since bosses can't be staggered π
Parrying bosses may have been what theyβre referring to
That is just pure evil lol
:D
You mean "cont" really has a meaning in English?
i mean atm i dont have much use for finewood, ill certainly need them for iron chest but atm i dont have iron so might aswell use it cause that finewood is really really stacking up
Might, but if it does then my english level Is not on that level yet π
Noooo, it will be usefull for chests, portals and ships π
portals? = check
karve? = check
coal? = n o :D
i already have a portal hub ready to go with additional portals on standby
Lol I have this weird way of breaking down material costs in my head for anything that requires metal. If something takes 30 iron, I mentally add 60 wood to the cost π
when it comes to the karves i seperately add the finewood with the materials for the karve
increasing resource rate does not appear to affect trophies :(
the pacing of the game really grinds to a halt when you get the queen... takes so long to get 3 trophies compared to how long it takes to get the other boss summons.
It doesn't
It's your choice to fight her again when is completely pointless to do so. And even still, just find the other two citadels in that case
wait what do u mean 2 other citadels
do u not need trophies to summon her in the other 2 or what
I remember walking into her citadel and she was already there π€
No you don't. You only need trophies in the one where you've defeated her before.
so why are they summoning the queen again instead of finding another citadel
Probably unawareness
im trying to get the ingredients for the mushroom galore feast but the witch isnt selling it to me
anyone know whats up with that? @ me in reply
im a cheese goblin how do i get in there(ashlands)
You'll need a battering ram for the door
grrrrr
thank you tho, ill go make one
Use a pickaxe to go under, or you could've dropped through the middle of those grates at the top
Literally jump through the middle if you want
ill try both
It's an Irishman trying to say the other C word XD
Damn I almost got them to stop cheesing and you guys come along π
To get in the inside tower I love to build up with wood, destroy grate with demolisher, jump down and then build stairs up, gives you an undamaged tower for your fortress build too (and get over main wall just with basic wood too and replace it if it burns up)
Yeah that seems like too much work, building a ram takes literally 2 seconds the only hurdle is flametal
dig under about halfway or so to max depth then break the corner of the building and just jump in
if u have the materials for it, otherwise u can dig to get to it or break the top and jump in
That.. that's been typed out 3x now π

It's not really that much work, especially if you've done it a few times
Running up and down the staircases just to access a fortress build is crazy
I mean, do whatever you want with your build, but seiging is more of a hassle than jumping over a wall imo
...4 hits and you're in, you can use the catapult to wipe the crowd & walk right in π€·ββοΈ
Placing a workbench can't be viewed as that difficult surely
Lol who said it was?
seiging is more of a hassle than jumping over a wall
Yeh place a bench put a stair and jump over the wall. Ez pz
Stand in 1 place, break gate, run to another, wipe crowd, done.
Same thing, different steps
It's not because you're now fighting warlocks & starred charred up close
If that's an issue, then don't do that, obviously
Not to mention their ballistas
Their ballista die in 1 or 2 hits they're not an issue
I'm just saying the way you're describing has over 20 enemies aggrod up close, not how difficult they are
Did bog witch update remove dismantling build pieces while sprinting?
I don't believe so
Ok, and if that's an issue for you then don't do it, but it's not that much of an issue imo
I don't do it because it's not optimal given the massive improvements you unlock, not because it's an issue.
If you say so
Definitely, I'm not sure why anyone would bring enough for a workbench, 3 sets of stairs, and probably utilize a lot of arrow materials all for something that is made easy with things you unlock in the biome and weighs less to bring along. π€·ββοΈ
So 16 wood is hard to come by? And heavier than 10 flame metal? Got it
So what I'm getting from this is that you've never built a Catapult because you just.. move it with you like cart.
I have, and i do know, but that's a hassle imo. And how you gonna pull the cata and ram at the same time? Do whatever you want, siege however you want, be as optimal as you want. But it's not difficult to jump over a wall and kill a few things.
You build the ram there, it's only 1 flametal & a couple surtling cores. I'd definitely invite you to try it out, because I'd say the very same, it's not difficult to build 2 things and kill everything.
For the spice of Mistlands feast you must defeat the Mistlands boss first.
Same goes for Ashlands feast ^^
And mountains and plains one too, the only ones that are different are the first three
whats the usecase for the fracturing staff, i find the green groot staff wayy more functional compared to almost everything
fun
really? I never made those feasts so Idk that, good to know tho
The Fracturing staff has good single target damage when all clusters hit the same target but it has quite poor AoE.
hmm feels like the dundr does the same but maybe better
They are quite different. Dundr is loaded before shooting (similarly to crossbows), it has huge knockback on its shots and it's highly effective against Morgen since it's weak against lightning.
Plus it's fun tool, you can shoot fallen tree logs with huge knockback lol.
wait shoot trees? lmao
curious, how does the fish spawn mechanics work ingame, i usually just catch all the fishes in one spot and move on to another spot, what happens if i just keep two of the same type like trout and pike we'll they like breed and respawn stuff like that, what would happen if i catch them all will they still respawn? or no respawn?
Yeah, tree logs. Like this: #memes-and-clips message
sheesh
is this enough space for the chicken to lay eggs?
You need 2 happy chickens (feed them) and they have to get hearts above them then one of them will get pregnant and lay an egg.
There won't be that many eggs though since they can only lay x amount of eggs per x amount of space.
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Egg
perfect; just in case, how can I move chickens around?
same way I move boars with harpoon? or they'll take more damage?
easiest way is to get eggs and hatch them under a roof with a fire nearby, do make sure the hatched chicks can't get into the fire, because they will do it and die.
if they're already hatched, how can I move them from one area to another conveniently?
I've never tried to drag them with a harpoon, don't know if they would survive.
You can push them around, I made little pathways with fences and pushed them where they needed to go, I also used roof parts and walls to push them up somewhere if I needed them higher.
Feeding them some seeds or dandelions and waiting till you have two eggs is the easiest and safest way.
It is also a good idea to put some eggs in a chest or so that if something happens to the chickens you can start over.
nice! you think in that space I can at least have 2 eggs hatched?
Hatching won't be a problem, getting more eggs might be a problem but you should be able to get 2 in that space, maybe one by one though but you won't know till you test it.
You can hatch a whole boatload of eggs in a tiny space, it is getting the eggs that might pose a problem.
There can be only x amount of hens and eggs in a certain area.
You can have heaps of eggs as long as they are single eggs and not stacks in a tiny spot all hatch.
So a auto farmer is possible, have the chickens in a small area with slopes down so when they lay an egg, the egg rolls down, have a fire and a roof over the place the eggs roll to and they will keep on hatching till there is no more room and they get pushed trough the walls.
if you devise a way so that the hens get killed when they mature but not when they are still chicks you have an auto farm, tons of examples can be found on the net
thanks, very insightful!
I don't know exactly but I'm pretty sure they just spawn around certain generated area - I've seen people building certain traps so that they can just walk up and pick up some free fish during the storm
pretty sure they do, i got several fishing spot that remains the same, no clue about respawn rates though, i just check from time to time
Are there any valheim mods that completely changes the vanilla game and provides new bosses and stuff to make it harder?
As with all spawns, they're entirely random, but obviously some areas meet the spawn requirements better than others.
Sounds like you want a different game.
π no i was just wondering if theres something like rl craft
Thankfully no, that's a horrible modpack.
Folks in #mods-discussion may know π but as Derek said, whats even point of buying the game when you want something different
Alright thanks. Yea i get ur point but i recently just completed valheim and im looking to try out some mods
can u cook asksvin egg
Nope.
best arrows against mistlands monsters?
I still have dvergr's fang though
Frost arrows i would say, but needle or carapace are great too
π
-# And you will be able to make a new bow in mistlands π
crossbow?
You are able to make that but also new bow π
ooh!
yeah mistlands bow and frost arrows and also carapace arrows when running low on frost works, but frost ones with the new bow are quite good
also very badass looking, and good for undead later
Yep
Crossbow is nice too, it just doesn't scale with skill lvl so well. So depending on your playstyle in previous biomes it might actually be better.
I prefer crossbow bcs it's lvl 0 performance is better that the bows on lol lvl. And I'm hardly ever using the bow so my characters usually have bow skills around 10-15 lvl when reaching mistlands -> lvl0 crossbow is better for me -> and then I still barely use it, just to shoot at gjalls when the positioning/terrain doesn't allow me to spear them
I like to play with daggers, bow and light armor
I cant wait to craft dual daggers!
trying to shut down a greydwarf spawner to build a blood magic gym around it, tought i had to cover it with roofs but isn't working
If you want to 'shut it down' why not just destroy it?
You cant really shut it down unless you build ton of floors around it iirc, if you want the greadwarves to stop attacking you just buld campfires nearby
They want to use the greydwarfs to level up blood magic i believe
Oh, level grinding. Not my thing really.
i need it alive to build the gym
yeh i know it's cheesy, i'm a bit ashamed of myself actually
I wouldn't say cheesy, just utterly unecessary in this game. You can level quite happily just by playing the game.
i know, i'm slowly getting around magic build fight style, but with skills this low it's still very difficult to stay alive even in plains, let alone mistlands
I mean it doubles as a resource farm π but the level grinding is indeed quite unnecessary
Ooh, you added the Eitr usage. I meant to do that yesterday, but I was on mobile at the time and was having trouble with the editor.
Yeah, it was the only staff that didnt have it for some reason π
It didn't seem to be a default option on the template either even though there's a layout for it.
realises we're now in completely the wrong channel for this
I just copied the eitr section from source of the staff of ember page and pasted it with correct value in the spot it was on the other staffs page
Oh, yeah true xD
Wrong channel notwithstanding, I've now added that to the template, so it should always be an option now
anyway it got accidentally destroyed, i'll take this as a sign and try harder with skeletts in open field i guess
That would be probably better question for #mods-discussion π
No problem π
Dig a hole and push the greydwarfs in it, there can only be 3 greydwarfs per spawner.
There won't be any additional greydwarfs from the spawner, there will be others from the world but not from the spawner.
yup i know and tried, still thrown rocks bothered my building patience, plus listening to more experienced players advice, plus spawner accidentally destroyed = moving on to other stuff
Try again later ^^
Hello there, is it a bug or a feature that the fire of the standig Brazier does not count as fire when I want to go to bed?
Okay after rebuilding it it worked
should i prep mistlands armor lvl max for ashlands or is it fine to just go in with base lvl
max it
Base level is absolutely fine.
Mine greydwarf enclosure looks like his:
- its 8x7 tiles around, and u can toggle it on and off by placing roof in that corewood area
- this one is made with hearths for the resource farm
- i tried farming bloodmagic EXP this way too - but both greydwars and skeletons tend to destroy the spawner preety quickly - u can maybe try to dig a hole so that the spawner stays above ground lvl so they won't slap it on accident ( the greydwarfs will still spawn but u'll need to create the terrain in a way that they r forced to fall into ur skeleton hole )
Why the seeker flying in there?
they start to appear at night in the lower biomes after queen kill
Owh sorry i forgot]
same goes for fullings after yag and so on
hmm, what should i do. i am lookinf for third mysterious location, but there is nothing here. i found new vegvisir mysterious location, but it gives the same place again. i dont know what to do. there is 1 putrid hole nearby, and there was nothing
also here is no building nowhere close
I always put walls around the spawner hugging it as close as possible to prevent spawns "inside" between the wall and spawner, that way the idiot greydwarfs throwing rocks won't accidentally destroy it (because they will, otherwise)--another benefit is it does make farming blood magic pretty easy the way you describe (just summon a bunch of skellets inside spawning area and then move to stand on the other side of enclosure around spawning area occasionally refreshing protection bubble (for more leveling) or replacing lost skellets
I'd imagine so.
Digging a hole under it, flooring every spot that you don't want them to spawn in and putting the skeletons in there will solve that.
They can only spawn on earth, so any floor stops them from spawning there.
thanks a lot, that's quite explainatory, maybe i'll try again in the future (refilled the hole and planted a tree on in for now)
im in mistlands; will there be any future recipe requiring boar kmeat?
Nope.
So far, no.
π
So trying to take over a swamp.... and stuff keeps spawning within playerbase circles across the swamp.... is there a render distance where these artisan tables don't keep themselves rendered to stop stuff from spawning?
Nothing will spawn if out of render range.
I have like 2 artisan tables, blocking spawns, but every time I'm far away from a geyser and get close to it, 3 fire boys spawn and then don't spawn anymore after I'm near it. So that's why I'm questioning how these player base radious's work.
Artisan tables have a range of 40m.
yup, and stuff keeps spawning in their range, because of how far away they are not rendered in, allowing swampy stuff to spawn.
