Hello, me and a friend decided to get a server hosted on a site, but the lag I get when my friend's playing is too big, meanwhile he gets no lag. If he's not online or the moment he quits everything freezes for a bit then it's back to normal and I get no lag. The /ping command shows the same ping both when I'm feeling no lag and when I'm really laggy

Could this be due to HIS internet? Is there any fix to this?

He probably has slow internet or a slow pc. If I remember correctly, valheim servers work by assigning a "chunk-master" to the player who enters the area first. So essentially, the players computer becomes the host machine of that area. So if they have slow internet or a slow pc then every network action in that area will be laggy. The only real way to fix it would be to ask him to leave so you would become the chunk-master.

If he doesn't lag with you as chunkaster then it's probably his pc is too slow, if he does then it's an internet issue

I think so. During the day, they go passive and try to run away, at which point they despawn. But during the night they are hostile and doesn't look like they despawn, even if you portal away. At least not immediately.

Dozens of spawners along with them spawning inside rocks so be wary of that, they do also just spawn when you turn around which is quite annoying. You should get a lot of enclosed work benches down to just try limit spawns honestly

It takes a while, don't bother them so they won't agro on you. You will see yellow hearts appear around them when the taming process will start. Also remember to leave them some mushrooms

How can I make the game more stable when there are 7 players?
Any base assault when there are 4+ players on the base causes freezes and lags in the game. People can't fight properly and die. Host have no such troubles, only music lag.

Well I'm usually okay up to the swamp, I've never been past the swamp, I'm looking up seeds where I get couple bosses on one island, but I never beat the swamp

You progress there the same way as in black forest 🙂 you go there, find dungeons, find new stuff to grow, get better materials and gear, kill the boss and move to the mountains. Thats the basic game loop for the whole game basically, ofcourse it will entail lot of fighting and exploration which is great fun 😄

For the swamp the biggest problem is usually poison which can be countered with mead and the constant wet effect, so you need to watch your stamina but tasty and stamina mead can help with that too 🙂 and its a good idea to use mace for at least the boss since it is weak to blunt dmg

Its a very good choice in swamp since only 1 or 2 enemies are not neutral or weak to it 🙂

Hoe can help with pathing over waters to avoid leeches. And remember to have rested buff and avoid spending too much time during night.

Cold + wet + no rested buff = stamina killer.

find can locate any poi you want, would be find vendor_BlackForest 10 for haldor, find Hildir_camp for hildir and find BogWitch 10 for the bogwitch

it doesn't need to be the complete ID, but entering for example only "hildir" also marks her dungeons.
the number is the limit of temporary markers you want to add, entering the command without a limit will only ping them. you can only see one ping at a time and it's of course very temporary. the markers stay either until you use find again or until you leave the world

(i picked 10 as a number because each trader has 10 possible locations, can be any number you want)

there are other sources but they're either much later than the swamp or don't have a reasonable output

you need a swamp key to get inside, which is dropped by the elder, the black forest boss

well, iron scrap that is. iron ore has the same purpose but used to be an unused leftover item from the beta stage of the game that was eventually made available again through fishing in the swamps, as a minor source of iron or fancy collector's thing.

yea just make poison resistance meads, it also helps to raise the ground around his arena to make mobs not swarm you so you can just focus on him, or you can just cheese him by going inside the skull

Hey guys, I probably need some tips for Ashlands. My first attempt ended with my drekkar being destroyed together with my last second escape portal and bench. I've done some research, everyone is mostly saying to bring some basic stuff like materials for stone cutter, bench, portal... but also for shield gen or black forge, are they really that necessary? Next weapons. I have great skill with swords (aroud 70) and some with clubs (around 30) also with bows, crossbows... but none with magic. Their damage seems nice but i don't quite like to craft food for eitr. Also using health for the shield and summon ones is meh. So I'll probably stay with my yolo style of combat.

The health used for blood magic reduces a percentage of your current health so it can't kill you, and if you have the staff of protection's shield your health doesn't matter anyway

You have, I think, a very small base level, as you do with health and stamina but if you really want to use magic, you'll need to make some Eitr food.

Have a drakkar stocked with enough stone/black marble for a small base, or use an existing ruin, bring stuff for shield generator you get also.

Weapons wise electric atgeir and mistwalker are winners, ice or fire staff work well too id advise getting them made honestly. Ensure you have bonemass for when you drop along with barley wine, that gives you 5 minutes to clear it which is generally enough from experience.

Silver sword is a very good option for charred. It will do more damage than mistwalker and costs less stamina

Even though Mistwalker is good, Frostner is safer option thanks to the added knockback of clubs. You want to keep some distance between you and multiple warriors that can easily stagger and kill you fast for example.

Those are good points, alternatively ice staff applies slow too if you want to do the magic route bait and switch

I'd advice trying magic first at some lower biome if you haven't used any of it yet. Going in Ashlands without any experience of magic as mage can be fatal.

Troll and bronze are the same tier armors, at most it is a side grade.
Troll is faster and helps with sneak, compared to bronze that is slower and doesn't do anything extra, it does have more armor.

Right.

From what I've seen, fire arrows work better, eventhough their total damage is below that of Obsidian. Reason for that is that the fire damage stacks, so if you're able to hit her with a few shots, the fire DoT and that of the Poison of the Draugr Fang will keep reducing her health.

Another thing you can do is find a new altar location and prepare the area by setting up spawn protection (like campfires) and dirt walls for you to hide behind.
You can even mine out a small ditch under the outside of the altar and put a campfire there for some rested bonus.
Then summon her, use fire arrows to get her health down and hide behind the dirt walls or in the ditch to get some of your health back.
Using stamina mead or tasty mead to regain stamina can be useful too.

The serpent stew and meat are a good choice, but for more hp and stamina using the swamp feast may be a better choice as it gives 35 in both, compared to the 33 in both from the wolf skewer I think it was.

The nice part of using another altar is that you can return to the first altar later in the game - like when you got the magic staffs - and totally wreck her this time, so you got a trophy to hang on your wall.

if you're worried about protecting an area for farmlands you're usually all good by just raising the terrain and building on the artificial plateau you've made, nothing should be able to reach anything up there in any major way, at worst a deathsquito IF it sees you could fly up to harass you while you're there, but crops and buildings should be safe as long as the terrain is steep enough

When you take them home, make sure your pen is a hole. Dig it imo about 1.5 to 2x as deep as a lox is tall. When an enemy gets too close, the lox will try to attack it meaning your walls and stuff will take a beating

Hey guys can anyone help, I recently got a new Gpu and haven't played valheim in ages except now the performance is extremely bad

It's only utilizing like 20% of the gpu and up to 70% cpu and dropping down to 5 fps plus super laggy

It was perfectly fine on my previous card which was quite alot less powerful and much older 1070 to 4060ti

It used to run at 60fps everything set to high

It's on an ssd

I've done tons of troubleshooting already, reinstalled the game twice making sure to go and delete any left over folders as well and a whole bunch of other stuff yet to no avail please help

It's quite good, rapid shots and slow effect of frost is good combination against single targets, but lacks AoE and is bit inaccurate, so shooting closer hits better.

Alright, @cobalt marten, then you can Quit the game, exit Steam. Afterwards there will be three likely locations of world files for you to back up. Worlds typically consist of a metadata file (named <world name>.fwl) and a data file (named <world name.db>). There might also be automated backup copies of these files. If you use Windows Explorer, you might want to configure it to show you file extensions to make it clear the exact names of files you're looking at.

Worlds that are cloud-synced between your PCs and Steam servers will either be found in:

Best way to fight melee up hill is to use spears. The overhead chop motion hits pretty well "above" you as long as you are not completely under them (on steep incline). Also the secondary attack (throw) is perfect up hill as the spear falls right back in your hand. Using a club, sword, knife up hill does suck. Try keeping an upgraded spear on you for those situations and you may find fighting up hill to be advantageous for you. Easier for you to avoid an attack while being able to still hit the enemy. At least imo.

Second is starred Trolls. Been further out means chance for starred trolls (they cannot spawn too close to spawn either).

She's going to spawn where you left her so yeah, pretty much. Why would you do that?

If she stays still and doesn’t panic, she can stay there with stamina until you sail back and pick her up.

I fought her with mountains gear & krom, so you will be perfectly fine with carapace armor, also there are ppl out there who have fought her with no armor, bronze armor, no food, etc so all that matters is that u think you're prepared & just be careful when hitting her with melee 🙂

There's also a late game item that allows you to do it, but I mean late game.

Haldor can only be found in the Black Forest so keep looking there. There are 10 possible locations.

Not really, you just have to be a bit away from spawn

Basically roam around Meadows about over 800m distance from spawn point. Or search for boar runestones.

They have 1% chance to spawn with 2 stars.

Yeah, boars are bothersome to transport. They tend to jump over the boat if they get alerted by enemies.
