you need to be out enough that you can see the ocean biome. easiest is to just see the Ocean text in your minimap

Another source of surtling cores are these flaming things in the swamp. If those surtling people spawn into water, they'll leave behind coal and surtling cores. So they're a good thing to resource mine without destroying the spawner.

I just reached ashlands for the first time on my drakkar, some serpent spawned behind me, I jumped on side of boat to shoot with bow, then suddenly the boat glitches underwater, my character becomes invisble, and my camera slides over the water infinetly. I even used commands like fly to get out the water, but I have no control over my character/camera. Even if I use the die command, my HP goes to zero but my camera keeps sliding over the water infinetly and I don't respawn.

Anyone have any idea on what to do? I don't mind losing my stuff/boat, cause In this case I think its fair to just spawn it back in right.

After playing on a dedicated for about 2-3 minutes, I lose all internet connection on my PC and get kicked from the server. No other game does this, and I can comfortably play other games with 0 internet issues. Nobody else on the server is having these issues, and this issue happened the last time we tried it but it was only happening randomly and would occur one day but not the next. I used to have to connect to the server once and then disconnect and the issue would resolve itself after that.

Here's what i figured out

if you moved your saves to local before de game was removed from gamepass you should be fine, since steam and xbox share the same save location (C:/users/username/appdata/LocalLow/IronGate/Valheim/worlds_local)

if you didn't, you can find the xbox saves at C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\CoffeeStainStudios.Valheim_496a1srhmar9w\SystemAppData\wgs\000901F67D3626D6_000000000000000000000000680CAE11

you should be able to copy the "container" and the other file into the local saves, just rename the 'container" to the world name with .fwl extension and the other to the world name with .db extension

so, im doing bonemass. and i have a lv 4 finewood bow with fire arrows that im using, i built a huge rock platform with a hoe to use as a high place while fighting im so i can just cheese it with arrows. but, my arrows are only doing like 5 dmg per hit? and the fire is doing like .6 dmg per tick? are there arrows that i can use that will do more dmg or am i just gonna have to make like 1k arrows

i also forgot to make some poison resistance mead so ima have to make some of those too cause somehow his aoe is hitting me even tho im on top of the platform and its melting me

Bonemass is very resistant against pierce and fire so bows deal very little damage to him.

He is weak to Blunt and Frost. Mace is usually the best option.

You could dodge his hits and avoid the aoe poison cloud and you should be ok. Or wait until you have poison mead, bosses never despawn.

so it worked, although i had a bit of a panic attack in the middle of the fight lol. i had made sure that my workbench was covered enough that i could access it before i started the fight, but for some reason it said it needed more cover when i went to repair my stagbreaker. so i put down the portal again, went through it, repaired my stagbreaker in my base, came back through the portal, quickly realized i had put it the wrong direction and it was on the edge of the cliff so when i came through it, i fell to the ground and got swamped (no pun intended) by all the shit on the ground and died, had to respawn at base, walk backwards immediately after coming through the portal so as to not fall off again, wait til he walked to the side that my shit wasnt on, grab my shit, parkour my way back up the ledge, and then finish the fight

You should get a mace, bonemass is resistant to slash and pierce, but weak to blunt

A level 1 mace will do much better than any weapon you have there

Blunt does 200% more damage than slash against him, and 500% more damage than pierce

I would think that would be fine. I don't box them, but I typically use 8 chickens in a coop. As long as the eggs are regularly picked up (or made to go out of range) they should keep laying as long as they're fed. If there are something like 4 eggs nearby they stop (but any "pregnant" ones will still finish, so if I leave them without picking up I generally come back to about 5-6 eggs).

I have been playing Valheim from my computer on my local network and having my two kids join from their computers each from their own room. So I guess my computer is the server in that instance. My question is, can I have my brother and my nephew join when they live in the next town over by just giving the invite code and password? Would it go accross the internet and use my computer as a server? Or do I need to purchase space on a server using some kind of service for that?

As long as you’re hosting the world, they can join! If you want the others to be able to play even when you’re not online, you’ll either need to get a dedicated server or host one on your computer (essentially leave your game on is my understanding)

Some people are going to be unhappy about anything in any game. The biome with fog is mistlands, the biome added before ashlands. The people writing the negative reviews would’ve exaggerated it, the mist isn’t that bad.

New biomes are always harder at the start but preparing with right equipment, consumables, having rested buff and backup plan (if things go down south) will help a lot. And you should always expect things getting harder in later game.

I can't figure out how to change how long season last, but it's mentioned 10 days.
I've tried to mess around how long one day lasts, i increased to 9000s that's 2 and half hours for full cycle. So if season last 10 days that should be around 23 hours. But when i changed to it, it shows Spring season day 8 and 6 hours left to next season. But it should be arround 5 hours...

If anyone knows better about this mod can you share your settings with decent time for how long day cycle is and how long season last

I have a minor problem causing me massive headache. I’ve built a room for the workbenches on me and my pals server, problem is there is ONE SINGULAR piece of roof that doesn’t wanna stay on. Every other part? No problem. I’ve build poles to stable the ground structure and poles all the way up to the top to make sure the roof is stable, and I don’t think the problem is hight.. have no idea on how to fix it and it’s damn anooying

When I had that happen it was because of one of the pieces next to it wasn't correctly aligned, I redid the rood and paid attention to make sure everything snapped correctly into place and that fixed it.

it's best to be a little flexible. sometimes a bow is the right weapon. sometimes it's a club or mace. sometimes there isn't a weapon of that type to upgrade, sometimes there is. for example, if you decided it was only going to be daggers, you're going to be annoyed when a boss is resist to pierce, or if a biome doesn't have a new dagger to upgrade to.

Having one of each physical weapon type is useful since some enemies resist specific damage type and some can be weak against other type. I'd say minimum of Club (blunt), Axe (slash) and Bow (pierce) cover all those physical weapon types, but still you are free to choose the weapons you prefer.

none of my wood iron bars are connected to actual ground. on the first "roof", the wood iron bars are connected to stone, and when i put all of my flooring tiles, they were all grounded. on the second "roof", it was the same exact thing but only the flooring tiles conencted to the stone were grounded instead of the ones connected to the wood iron bars also

im assuming its because the stone was red at the point that i put the wood iron bars across it on the second floor, and so they werent grounded, and therefore the floor tiles were also not grounded. its the only thing that makes sense

it doesnt really matter for this build cause im not trying to go any higher, im being able to do what i wanted to with this build. i was just wondering for future reference

Right, yeah, you only get the maximum support from Wood Iron if it connects all the way down to ground. Stone is weird in how it sort of semi-grounds stuff.

If you keep dying, it would suggest to me that that's not the best plan. Sometimes you can get in over your head and need to rebuild some equipment or armor to go back to where you were. That's also why I always keep some backup armor and weapons accessible. Are you eating biome appropriate food, sausages and muckshakes at least?

That's your biggest issue. Food is a critical mechanic in Valheim, and everything revolves around it. It is your health and your stamina, it allows you to do things. You need to make a cultivator, a cauldron, and get some food going. That is more critical than getting your gear back.

Rain is in (almost) every biome. You need to use thatch roof pieces to protect stuff under it from rain. Flat floor pieces don't count as roof. It will also help you rest properly.

I currently have a Nitrado server setup with no portals, x3 gathering and upped the difficulty but I’m also trying to add no map to make the server more interesting. so (with my modifiers) fire arrows deal 11 base dmg with a range of + 4-7, and fire dmg of 22 + 8-15. weak means x 150%, so the average dmg from a fire arrow will be
16.5 base dmg + (33.5x1.5) fire dmg for a total of 66.75 dmg per arrow.

obsidian has base dmg of 52, with a range of 20 to 35, so average dmg from obsidian arrow would be 52+27.5 = 79.5, blowing fire arrows out of the water, with still having more dmg at the lowest possible rng anyway.

the only real argument for adding the fire arrow is because it's one more DoT you can keep stacked iwth the poison--per hit, absolutely, inferior, but MAYBE it's more efficient (not sure) to take alternating shots (i.e. obisidan, fire, obsidian etc .)3

actually thats the one calculation i forgot to include, was the dmg in between shots, but that 50.25 fire dmg is over a course of 5 seconds, so its a little less than 10 per second, and it takes roughly 1.5 seconds(?) to reload so mayybbbeeee you might get a tad bit more over time with fire arrows in a long fight like that cause the extra 18ish dmg in between each shot is more than the dmg average dmg difference

for moder specifically, the speedrunner strat works quiet effectively in regular play--you just dig a trench circle around the altar and you can use that, running around the altar for cover, to block all attacks

that is another thing tho, saw someone recommend on a fader boss fight vid to take off mejingjord and turn off auto pick up before boss fight, and I think generally good advice for boss fights, because they tend to have a bunch of scenery that gets trashed in the battle that will clog your inventory then in the event of a death, set you up for a second death when you get your stuff due to being immediately overencumbered

hey guys. I have problem with my FPS ingame..
I already followed the video from the pinned message to optimize my game...but this does not help alot.
Maybe its my CPU, but i am not sure.

I have an 3090 with 32gb ram and a I7 8700k
And if i am standing in my base on our server, i have only 40-50 fps. and even if i turned down every graphic option..i have only 80-90 fps..
My CPU is around 30-40% utilization and my GPU around 20%....
Are there any other tipps to boost the fps ?

That island is probably safer than the ocean because without that boat you might not be able to survive a serpent. You should kill a serpent when you can though, as their meat is used for the best health food until the 6th biome.

Serpents spawn at night or in storms so when using a a raft, avoid sailing at those times

Your atgeir will probably be best. Try to stay near the elder so he doesn’t use his ranged attack. When he spawns roots, you could use the secondary attack to kill multiple at once, but make sure you’re blocking/dodging all of the attacks.
Sleep before the fight so you have as much time as possible before night, and make sure there aren’t any trolls or spawners nearby.

For food I’d use queens jam, deer stew and either minced meat sauce or carrot soup, depending on if I want more health or more stamina. For an atgeir I’d recommend more stamina, but you could use more health if you want to.

the eyes come from greydwarfs, so the dark forest would be your best bet

some will also be spawning in the meadows at night, if there are any nearby

not likely. The save file would not read by the current game version. And viseversa that the game state would not be compatible with the save file. It'd be like trying to open a program's save file on an older version of the same software.
