that is a tough situation. I'd make a new character.. Corpsey... make a portal home outside the entrance, and set spawn point and just throw as many deaths as it takes to get that solider to move before it destroys the stairs. Wouldn't risk my normal character any further. Ice arrows to the butt or a well placed fire staff explosion on the ceiling, but within aoe for solider, and not stairs..

It HAS been addressed. The game is MUCH more efficient than it used to be. Lag generally only becomes an issue when there's a network issue between players. Aside from the issues in Ashlands specifcally which they ARE working on.

I think the issue is that an engine is like the framing of a house and the rest of the development is all the walls, carpeting, etc. Once you choose an engine it's basically impossible to just change the engine. The rest of the game is literally built around the engine's behavior, and the only way to change it would be an entire rewrite of the game. That's out of the question so it's a pointless topic to discuss.

Also, connection is good is misleading. You can have a ping of <10ms to the server but if your ping to another player, mainly the chunk owner is large then you're in trouble.

The other issue with the engine is that Unity has changed some of their licensing rules. To update to the newer versions the devs might have to accept new conditions, and those might be unacceptable. But, if that's not the case, I guarantee that the devs are looking at what they can upgrade in the engine and how it can affect things. But for the rest of the month they're on vacation, and they will do what they can when they can. There's a ton of work that's always possibly out there, but only limited people and hours in the day to do it.

Check there aren’t gaps. Derek can (and probably will) correct me, if I’m wrong, but I believe the spawn suppression radius of a workbench is the same as its build effect radius. So wander round with your hammer and see where you can/can’t build.

But, also, they don’t stop stuff from walking in from outside the radius.

work benches (just barely) are wider than a 1m wall piece. I sandwiched a workbench between 2 stake walls and capped the sides with (2) 1m wall pieces vertically on each side....

it keeps the bench out of the mobs sight and allows the spawn prevention and building area to do its thing.

When looking at an equipment piece on the forge you are seeing the stats of the next upgrade, not the current ones. And that next upgrade might be locked behind the next forge upgrade.

I use simple standing torches as spawn suppression, and kinda hide them inside of an upright log piece. Makes them look like big candles, quite decorative and they light up the area. Mind you, with workbenches it's easy to see if you covered every square inch, just run around with the building hammer out and one build piece selected, so the workbenches show their area marker. But they are way less pretty than my standing torches.

Thanks. I will try it. I made a Primal Splintr and went out on the landscape with it. At first I didn't notice that I was rooting things becase the roots were so small and behind the creature. Are the roots bigger or more likely when you throw the spear. (I' aftarid to throw it out doors and lose it...). After a while I learned to circle the creature and notice if it had been rooted, and then I used the Thundering Axes. My easiest kill of a Morgen. Thanks!

if you play with portals you can always destroy the ship by yourself and pack it up, generally its always recommended to put the ship inside a box if youre not safe from mobs

or you could kill all the leeches and leave the area. so its not "active" anymore meaning no mobs will attack your ship

So, having defeated moder earlier today going in not knowing what it was or anything, I used the draugr bow with poison arrows when it was flying, and when it was on the ground I just clubed it to death. It took a few minutes and feels like a slow fight.

When its on the ground, its possible to roll under it and have all its hit boxes miss you while you hack away at it. When it uses ice breath on the ground or flying just roll.

-I have all drivers and updates

Might be unrelated, but I had an issue like this years ago playing just God of War on PC, in my case, it sovled itself by turning of FreeSync on the monitor. In theory this shouldn't be an issue between Nvidia GPUs and Freesync anymore, but it's worth a shot I guess. Did all the same stuff as you did, and only this helped for me, hope it helps 🙂
Though, my game was not crashing, just black screen and sound+game was still running 🤷‍♂️ I used to undervolt my GPU a bit before due to bad thermals in my old case, and some games would just crash right and left (usually Unreal engine games) while I had this, but when running complete stock, never happened again.

your gpu is officially rated for 93°C. ~100°C is definitly quite high if this isnt the hotspot temp. it would be an alright hotspot temp tho. your gpu shouldnt overheat even when running at ~100% for a long while. quite the contrary, you should aspire 100% gpu load whereever possible.
please confirm if you're reading core temp or hotspot temp tho. 100°C core temp is overheated, 100°C hotspot is alright.

Save.

I’m gonna be that guy - I totally get the frustration, but be aware that once you use a cheat once there is no going back, and you will be more likely to use a cheat in the future - the game is all about overcoming challenges, carefully consider whether you want to walk that path.

im not the type of guy who cheats in games tbh, i like the challenge, but spending literal hours mining for tin, and then having your cart get stuck on the water one time, then u FIANLLY get it back to earth, then u reach a spawner who literally spawns a 1 star brute, 2 star greydwarf, shamans, and a bunch of greydwarfs (specially cuz its night time), then keep dying and coming back, finally cleaning allat, getting the cart stuck again and finally taking it back to earth again, and then once u think everything is fine, a log troll appears and absolutely shreds all u the work u had, dont u think i took enough for the last hours man?

cuz at that point its not really fun anymore, its just very very bad luck, plus the cart being hard to control on certain terrains, specially near water, which ends up being its main use of it, to get tin

Ok, next time, take a portal with you (and have one set up in your base to connect to). It doesn’t help with transporting the ore, but what it allows you to do is to get back to base at the end of the day, to rest, and then quickly get back out to where you were, in the morning.

yes, if you plat* them, they will turn into "seed" carrots, you then replant the seeds you get to get more carrots.

You can turn carrots into more seeds to expand your production.

yes, using the cultivator(uses bronze i think), you can replant some plants and get more in the process.

@frank bobcat if you're having issues with cultivating vegetables, you're probably planting the rows too close together or in the wrong place (they need sunlight).

ok, each seed produces one carrot, then each seed carrot produces 3 seeds, so you can be fairly rough and ready with your planting, just be sure to replant at least 1/3 of your carrots until you have enough.

That's more than enough. Drop a 1x1 floor tile on the ground to get an idea of the ideal spacing (note you can't leave the tile on the ground).

The 'ideal' is to have 1 plant literally at each corner. But you don't need to be that exact. Just eyball it and it'll be fine.

Now, when you get to planting trees you'll want to be much more accurate, because they produce fewer seeds per tree.

Just mark locations on your map. And if they're far enough away, set up portals. Then you can quickly harvest a lot of berries quickly.

long story short: look for mods that are current and have a "ashlands" tag on them to increase your odds of not having issues.

ok. well try to get that error to come up again and don't click anything or tab out of the screen for 5-10 minutes and see if that helps. it might be because ashlands was such a huge update, that it makes your device think the game crashed when it actually hasn't.

if that doesn't help, I would recommend the more specific help channels.
