And regarding the bear traps, it is supposed to give all mats back if it is 100% health(according to a steam forum). Though, there is a bug that may prevent you from getting back all material even if the thing has 100% health.

You can have tamed and wild together, but be careful not to have different breeds in the same pen prior to them becoming tame. Wolves will fight anything when wild(except other wolves).

so i left my 5 pigs in the pen with food and made a short boat trip away overnight. Came back, and all 5 pigs are gone with meat and leather scraps left behind. The pen isnt damaged and the food is still there.... what happened?

Probably need to make sure the pin isn't open in any spots or has proper spawn mitigation so that things don't spawn in the middle of it

If it was overnight it's probably likely multiple greydwarfs, definitely want to set up stakewalls so they can't get to your property

Also a good idea to have a buffer wall around the pin so that shamans can't breathe poison on them too

Skeletons will be tough with leather armor, gather some tin and copper to make a forge and craft some bronze gear for better protection, but yeh clubs are best against skeletons cause they're weak to blunt

Ideally yes, but you can like build the kiln, make charcoal, break the kiln down, build the smelter, smelt the ore, break the smelter down, and repeat. If necessary.

How long are you waiting? It can take a while for a world to update if it was last opened before ashlands. Sometimes it takes long enough for the stopped responding message to show, but it is still responding and you just need to wait longer.

There’s not much reason to go onto another world. You have a very big starting island and you have already found the trader.

A dock doesn't entirely help, because mobs will attack your boat too, and if you're not careful, the tide can still cause damage.

We just dismantle our boat when we've finished with it.

The atgeir is very good for trolls. Polearm secondary attacks have a 6x stagger multiplier so they can stagger most enemies in one hit.

It’s decent but you should already have a bronze axe so it’s better to spend the bronze on something that doesn’t also do slash damage. The mace is also a good option because many enemies in the 3rd biome are weak to blunt.

If making a one-handed weapon you should make the bone tower shield or bronze buckler to go with it.

In the build menu crafting tab, look for structures with a star. Those are improvements. Each unique improvement placed near the right station will increase the level by 1. This allows you to craft more items and upgrade your items, improving their stats and durability.

It doesn't always work on Copper, but sometimes if you dig out around and under the deposit, so it's floating in air, then hop on and hit it acouple of times, the entire thing will collapse (works much more reliably with one of the metals later in the game). And digging out the ground is much quicker than breaking up the deposit.

Honestly, I usually just do it the 'slow' way too. But when you get to the other metal, then it saves a massive amount of time.

Plus the 'quick' way is super unreliable on copper. Like I've had it happen maybe once.

Hello, I'm Brazilian and I need help with issues and server management, I work and so do my friends and I even tried to set up a dedicated server but it only works well with vanilla, I can't configure the mods correctly, as the idea is to have a difficulty, however, without losing items, which in our opinion comes to a point where it becomes irritating and unmotivating to continue the journey like this, it is already difficult for us to get the components and everything else, especially with more mods that make our lives more difficult, not losing any items would be good for us , I myself hate having to go get the items every time I die somewhere and of course, this is part of the game and I'm not criticizing it, at the beginning it was very good but when you play 500 days in a row and go through it several times it gets boring lol

IF there is any Brazilian who can help me for ease of communication as my English is not very good I would appreciate it but anyone who can help even if they are not from Brazil feel free 😄

That kinda sounds like a driver issue, but it everything works outside of the game, it might not be. It would still be good to make sure all drivers are up to date though.
one thing commonly asked is "do you use mods?". if you do, try removing them and see if the game runs fine without them.

the map markers should be relatively exact. it could be because the ashlands update changed things that it isn't accurate. there is a way to "refresh" the map data from what I heard, but I don't know the exact details.

Hello all. Recently I started having issues with the gaming crashing my PC. I played on the firelands original patch a d restarted two days ago. Up to the Ashland's patch, as well as previous years, I had no issue or crashes. Now every so often , can be 5 minutes or it can be 1 hours, suddenly PC goes dark, GPU colour lights start flashing red and white (not the indicator lights, the decorative ones) and it's fans kick in hard. Anyone had a similar issue recently or with past patches. I doubt it is PSU because 1) I undervolted my GPU and still happened 2) I strained it with other games and no issues. I have already re-installed Valheim twice. The second time I went to appdata/locallow/irongate and deleted everything as well before the reinstall.

Figured it out: you can remove the old map markers then interact with Hildir's map which will place new markers on the updated locations. No need to resetkeys!

If you're a Meadows set that sacrifices X for Y, your scaling keeps that.

Certain weapons have a base damage that never changes as they scale, and it is only the other damage forms that continue to upgrade. My idea wouldn't affect that at all.

You can always mark shit and come back tomorrow.

You don't need 3 different melee weapons.
If you're going 2H, you don't need a shield.

you can't level up animals so you have to find them with the level you want.
offspring inherit the level of the parent that births them, so it's a 50/50 chance to be a 2-star piggy if you bred a 2-star boar with a regular boar.

If you notice, the Rank 1 and 2 Carapace Buckler at Skill 100 can Parry, but the Rank 3 cannot.

This isn't an error.

This is because Rank 1-2 has a low enough Block Armor that you use the simpler, more forgiving formula and can parry.

But Rank 3 bumping you to 225 puts you just over the mark, and uses the more punishing block formula, so you cannot.

Part of why I fell in love with this game WAS the unknown. When Meadows was mysterious and challenging.

My best tip for trolls is to use rolling. Rolling makes you invincible if timed right but the game doesn’t tell you. I didnt discover it until the third biome.

Also make sure you don’t run out of stamina. Being rested at all times helps

you need the club to be higher level, or you can use another weapon way more suitable for it. you have to get lucky by sneaking, then jumping and attacking while still having the sneak technically, which lets you crit, but that doesn't always happen properly

Yeah you need to get used to it a bit. I've always found the crude bow to go slightly to the left, and don't bother making it because finewood bow is so easy and cheap to get.

I don't tame them until much later, when I honestly don't even need to tame them anymore.

Swamp literally throws leather scraps at you, and 1 meat = 4 sausage so you don't need that much.
Once you hit Mountain you kind of stop needing the materials Boars give you.

I tame them just for the aesthetic of it.

Like, Tasty Mead is uncontested the best mead in the game. But when used to full potential, you can burn through an entire stack per day depending on what your goal for the day is.

(Yes, I highly recommend having in-game daily goals. Also helps tremendously with inventory management. Don't try to do everything every day. If it isn't a woodcutting day, leave the axe at home. If it isn't a mining day, same concept.)

Farming is an unofficial skill, you get better the more you do it. And eventually you will be able to speed plant with near perfect spacing.

Also, Deer Meat is one of the meats you can ALWAYS just cook. There is no recipe that uses Raw Deer Meat, so just store cooked.

In contrast to Boar Meat, which you store raw.

Deer Meat, Fish, and Serpent Meat you can always just cook.

Expect to die a lot, especially if you're going melee. If you do go melee bring plenty of health potions, I like to have bonemass for really bad situations, and typically 3hp foods or 2hp 1stam. If you're going mage, 3e foods or 2e 1stam foods, and keep as much distance as possible. Iirc I've seen some say once they got used to it they started using 2stam 1eitr for more mobility.

When we first entered Ashlands we were running best food, weapons, and armour for our builds, and we all died multiple times before we could even get a foothold. We then died multiple times again trying to take a fortress. Then again taking our second fortress.

Like, as much as IRL breach tactics don't apply to an AI this simple, it actually is a better way surprisingly.

There are spikes in the wall that stick down, they damage all enemies that walk through the wall trying to get to you.

Tower shield or any other knock back allows you to push them back into the spikes again and again.

Breaching the wall does half the work for you compared to breaching the door.
