so, we have this player who likes to do annoying shit like build a base somewhere hidden then someday show up with something new we (the other players) have not unlocked yet, just to kinda show off, which we have multiples times told him not to do if he wants to play with us who havne't seen all the content yet.

we think he's building something like that again. can we somehow, from the savegame file, find all places that were modified on a map or something? We don't want to just ban him because we mostly feel bad for him :s

we know of at least one portal he has hidden there, from searching for those in the .db file

but we assume he also built stuff without portals

we just don't want to show up to the ashlands to him going "surprise, I already built you a base here" or something

Map table will show the places he explored, you can watch him press e, assuming he puts down pins you can see them, but its not going to tell you where his bases are

Depends on your build. Fireballs (either of the two) are great, lightning or root bows are great, and crossbows are great but more so on sneak attacks so maybe that doesn’t apply

freefly, timescale 0 for a still image or lower than 1 for slowmo

During freefly you should be able to change the camera movement speed, it's fairly cinematic on lower speeds

I have been picking up fish prematurely before the line fully reels in instead of letting it reel in completely.

I thought hitting the "pick up" key when it appears was how you "caught" fish

I'm trying to get crossplay to work on my dedicated server on a ubuntu 20.04 container. I can use the server just fine without the -crossplay flag. But I have an xbox game pass friend that wants to join.

When I launch with -crossplay I am unable to connect and the server console output shows it repeatedly trying to register with playfab.

Does anyone know if there's something I'm missing? I saw some reddit posts and one mentioned "pulseaudio" which I went ahead and installed via apt. But it didn't change anything.

It checks for things within about a 2m radius from some point in the chunk. SO the piece of the deposit that's clipping into the dirt is supported by the dirt, and is probably supporting the large chink you're standing on, which is supporting the small chunk in front of you.

Pesky bushes and branches and rocks can also support surprisingly far vertically as well.

Flametal beams and pillars dont take damage from lava and you can use a shield generator to stop lava from producing the projectiles

After both instances loaded in screen, i am trying to start server but it says "Log in with Playfab; Valheim uses Playfab to connect you with other players online. Sign in to Playfab? This automatically creates an anonymous Playfab account for you based on which platform you use to play on." and when i click yes it says: "Could not log in to PlayFab". Valheim installed throught Steam. What should i do?

No, those stones, once you killed the boss, let you hang the boss trophy on them and use a "Forsaken Power" that the boss unlocks for you, giving you a special buff for 5 minutes

the game really is what you make it. part of valheim is that it has building, and it also has cooking and breeding and stuff, so a lot of people spend a whole lot of time on those three things in particular, setting up bases and things like that, and that can easily take up countless hours. a player can also just speedrun the game and probably defeat it in around 10 hours or so, both are possible

the first major increase in difficulty, IMO, is swamps and it only gets harder from there. mistslands is a fairly major jump from plains and ashlands even more so. the progression of difficulty feels almost exponential. I play on normal and dying in a new biome is almost a rite of passage.

server related ?.. I'm on a Vanilla Ashland server. we are taking it slow, have not killed BM,Moder, Yag or the Queen. I have found the Queens layer, but have not entered any Mines at all. I am currently making the outside front of her layer like many do into a home base. at night one Seeker Brood appeared. we have not unlocked this and there was only one. what would cause this and does this enable that raid ? this is not the beta either.

Stone alone will only go to a max height of 16 meters (and that's if you use the 1x2x4 blocks). Basic wood is the same, iirc. But Wood Iron will go up to 50 meters.

Also note it's not actually the height that matters, it's the number of build pieces. So that 16m build height for stone reduces down to 8 if using 1x1x2 or 1x1x1 pieces. Which is usually enough for a nice two-storey house.

If it is really important to build you could always change the world modifier and turn free building on for a while.
Spawn in iron with devcommands.
Use debugmode and let it first use the materials you have and once those are finished keep on building for free.

Ashvine is bugged. If you are persistent and can get it started (honestly the hardest part), you’ll get a slow but steady supply of both fruit and seeds. However, logging out or portaling out of range can reverse growth and despawn fruit.

Is anyone else having issues with bonemaw spawn rates? We are trying to sail around ashlands but we keep having to stop every minute it feels like to kill them. We can't go a few feet of sailing before the next one spawns and in some cases we've had them spawn as soon as we've killed the last one.
Got to the point where we've called it a night as it's getting tiredsome.
At least I managed to get a lot of meat (over 100 pieces tonight)
Is this normal?
We hardly encounter serpents in the ocean, so I'm just surprised by how often bonemaw is appearing!

Yes, Bonemaws spawn basically constantly. Ice staff makes short work of them though and as others have mentioned, the meat is a fantastic HP-based food

Raids are centred on the player. Most depend on the player being near base items.

They’re random. As Derek said most happen only if you’re near a ‘base item’. But there’s one that only happens when you’re not near said items. Also the likelihood of you getting one is dependant upon how many players are logged in. So playing solo is the worst for raids.

Hi,

I was playing with my friend and while rebuilding our mansion, I asked him to spawn "resin", but somehow he typed "raise" (i think?).
The ground instantly rose by about 10 meters, but now we can't lower it back with a pickaxe or hoe. I guess the ground level limit prevents ground from being lowered?
I tried to search the dev command list, but I can't find anything that can lower or raise the ground level.

Everytime I play, and I get to plains, I decide to setup base there. I always start making a big square ditch, around the area, and flatten it out. But because of hills, the ditch in 1 area, can never be deep enough to prevent enemies running up. And its always just 1 or 2 pickaxe hacks away. Is there ANY way to allow me to dig just 1 unit deeper or something? Its pretty annoying

If you dig a 8 m hole, then raise the terrain around it by 8m, then there’s now a 16m difference between the hole and the rest of the terrain
