Nice floor, what's the lava looking thing between the black marble columns?
is that raised ground that you framed?
@worthy vortexThat is the top of the hexagonal gate. Used the shift E key to put it in the graound so only the top is showing
@worthy vortex
hope this pic helps
@worthy vortex here is the floor now done
Oh, cool! Yeah I wouldn't have guessed
Thanks for explaining ๐
Looks great, very unique
Time in flow making art is never wasted IMO
How is this even?! Gizmo mod? How to light chandeliers?
For those of you that build in the mountains on survival mode, do you move there during your mountain run or afterwards?
can be either and can depend on what materials you want to use in the build
@silk yarrow you dont have to light anything Its made using the flame swords. There are 16 of them on item stands. Hope that helps
Thanks for sharing this picture, kinda want to try and use it for inspiration ๐ค
Was this all created in creative mode?
Very nice, did you draw this yourself?
I mean he has been playing the world for over 8k days so most likely not
I did this with no mods or creative mode This was done in standard
Valhiem
This is terrible ๐ฎ๐จ๐ฑ.
What should i do at the back of my house?
Garden!
My new lighthouse
Awesome
thanks
this reminds me of moon wells in warcraft 3
Woaaah very nice
Not as impressive as some of the other beautiful builds, but I really wanted a small water house and by the Gods I would get one
Didnt know the spiral stairs can function like that!
Me neither xD. But the spiral wouldn't be functional so I had to improvise
Donโt sell yourself short, this build is impressive, well designed and in a creative location
someone please help me build my roof or help me fix it
I really appreciate that. Thank you kindly
Hi everyone, im about to build a village and a i wanted to go for a huge castle (which is tall) but i have an issue with heights while building! do you have mods to upgrade items strength so i can ho way higher? (like a mod who makes all builds blue)! thanks
<color=white><voffset=-50><size=8>Haldor
There is a #mods-discussion channel you will probably have better luck there
thanks ! ๐
If you are able to use dev commands then I highly recommend using "Spawn skull1" and using these to build off/embed them into your stonework for blue stability. They're small, float in the air and are considered to be the ground for building purposes. Be warned that once spawned you cant delete the skull without using forcedelete commands or mods such as infinity hammer/planhammer
Alternatively, you can spawn in 'rock_destructible_test' for an object that also floats, but is made of a series of small rocks. These can be whittled back to just one, and will mostly hide in stone or marble. The advantage is you can completely destroy them if you misplace them, the drawback is the time it takes to reduce their size. Either option should work if you want to be "mod free" for vanilla friendly builds.
How did you manage to make them float in the air?
Read the post just above you
Oh, thanks ๐ซถ
You're welcome
Any thoughts about this?
Only that after a point, the more build pieces they add the more overwhelming it can be for new players.
I'm on my 7th playthrough (2nd since Ashlands) and still discovering new designs with the pieces we have.
Or did I miss your point?
The point was to simply generate a discussion about what would be the most wanted/needed pieces should any more be added
Triangle roof pieces for making round roofs easier. 1x1 grausten walls. A number of other pieces to help eliminate a need for clipping. Z fighting is not good
I'd like to see (in order) floors, walls, and beams/posts for each of the woods. It would provide a lot of options for internal decoration and theming
I wouldn't mind more build pieces, but I think having more freedom to rotate pieces would make a bigger difference to me.
Doesn't even have to be more axis, just being able to do smaller degree increments of the current axis of rotation
I'm still discovering new pieces combinations and building styles so I don't feel too limited by what's already in the game
We needed both larger building pieces, (4m beams/walls/floors) and smaller ones (1m poles/1x2m wall AND 2x1m wall/ roofs).
Larger for those 'dull' walls and smaller for the finest details.
Tho we are not limited to our ideas, the game limits itself already by the number of instances.
Woaaah! Very good work. Been loong for a way to make a bridge. Requires end game biomes?

Hello, Valheim community! ๐ฎ
Iโve just uploaded a new video on my YouTube channel where I built the Ultimate Cozy House in Valheim, Inspired by Skyrimโs Proudspire Manor. The video features a full overview of the result and the building process of the main structure, so you can easily recreate it if you'd like. Iโd love to hear your feedback and ideas for future builds!
Hello everyone! In this video, I built a cozy and practical house in Valheim, inspired by Proudspire Manor from Skyrim! Working on a dock house right now, wondering if there is any details that I could add to make the walls (on the outside) look better, or furniture inside I can add/create, maybe even some landscaping I could do
Ivies
Any thoughts on what I can put here? it's on the 1st floor of my home, I have the master bedroom on the opposite side of the room, I was thinking maybe some guest rooms but I'm a solo player so maybe something practical & cosy at the same time?
Genuinely unsure with what to do with this big open space, open to all ideas. (unmodded)
Yeah. Some light.
Am going to build a strong outpost in Ashlands on a Morgen cave to help mine flametal.
I've read that Grausten stone is stronger than marble, but marble has better elemental resistance, making it more suitable in Ashlands against exploding blobs and Valkyries fire.
What's peoples experience?
Against Valkyrie fires, other creature projectiles, acid rain and the like, it's best to use a shield generator - though it covers only 30m, so if your build is large..
Also the wiki details the resistances.
Black marble:
Durability: 1500
Weak: Pickaxe
Neutral: Blunt, Slash, Pierce, Chop
Immune: Fire, Frost, Lightning, Poison, Spirit, Rain
Grausten:
Durability: depends on the piece (400-4000)
Weak: Pickaxe
Neutral: Blunt, Chop
Resistant: Slash, Pierce, Fire, Frost, Lightning
Immune: Poison, Spirit, Rain
You could also opt to build a base within the walls of a Charred Fortress. Those walls are immune to anything but siege weapons.
that's next after getting flametal ๐
5k hours valheim but 1st time doing Ashlands, its been... ๐ ๐ ๐ฌ ๐ค
thanks
Good luck! I finished Ashlands just yesterday. When I first started it, I died. Then I died some more. Then I was stumped why the battering ram wasn't doin much. And then I died again. And so on.
Thanks and Well Done. Now you never have to go back, like mistlands ๐
I read nothing for the experience, sailed a longboat in, got half way to shore then onto a spire eventually during a storm, attacked immediately by a bird, bench portal IM GOING HOME then did farming for a week ๐
Returned and made a foothold base learning hard lessons then got killed by the water ๐ , an asksvin I was trying to tame ๐ then a morgen punting me into lava, so now I'm taking it slow and very deliberate, expansion bench by moated bench covered in stone ๐ค
Hello all. I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew on this one. I'm not that great at building and am looking for ways I can support a tall roof on this structure without taking up a lot of "living" area inside with a bunch of vertical pillars. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Hmm I may need to convert the video to something different. Sorry, give me a moment.
Clearly I'm not that great at screen recordings either. ๐คฆโโ๏ธ
There we go. I'd like to keep with the stone and dark wood / shingled materials. I'm just not that great at securing long-spanning roof lines
This is a Vanilla server, btw, too.
Anyone wanna help me build this bride
@silent pagoda if some of your roof tiles intersect trees, those count as ground, so help your stability...the front looks good so far, tho
2 pillars in the middle between the steps should be enough, maybe with arches at the top or iron beams
Iron beams make the impossible possible, especially if you start them all the way at the ground ๐

Hey guys
I have a current fortress in a world
But I plan on starting a new fortress in a new world

I want to build an island fortress
Basically, just enough land in the middle of water for the boundaries of the fortress

100% Vanilla method for extending glass windows beyond 2 blocks from a standard support item using furniture.
The Throne can support glass but its not easy to attach glass blocks while targeting the throne. Instead I use wood to put a frame inside the window and attach the glass to that. Then leave time for calculation of support/gravity to complete. Next, place the throne near the window (note mine didn't even touch the glass) and then remove the wood. The throne takes over and will support glass up to 4 blocks high and 3 wide in my tests.
Here is an example I used in a build: https://imgur.com/gallery/ARqk9Jg
sigh ... I'm so bad at this. I think I messed up making the wall go out one block length before continuing back. How do I compensate for this keeping the same 26 degree singles? Currently, the roof lines won't meet up. ๐ฆ

beginning of the game, to make a real fortress that trolls cant invade and brake all your house, do your trench, up your walls and make a bridge, all with the hoe and pickaxe... this is black forest stage and trolls cant jump the wall with the trench between and dwarfs cant stand up the stairs... the only thing they do is to break the stairs and the solution is obvious and easy
very rustic
and very safe
Or, and hear me out, build a wall and defend it.
because that looks.. not good.
it works for black forrest, but the trench has to be deep and the stone walls has to bell talls... to enter the base a door on the floor does not works, thats whay the stair, because they will brake it and not up and invade
I defend it, it was to show that really works for that biome
Oh don't worry this the most common way to cheese the enemy pathing, nothing groundbreaking here no pun intended
This trade off just isn't worth the visuals in my opinion, especially because there are flying enemy raids later in the game.
Best to just learn to fight the enemies and build things within a fortress.
thats whay I said the beginning, when you dont have strong walls
Right, so just upgrade as you go and repair as needed, don't break the enemies so you don't know how to deal with invasions.
well, in this early stage is pretty easy to destroy them, I know, they got stuck on the trench, so nothing hard, and the trolls just go away, I like to kill the trolls in the forrest actually, because they rarely got stuck and when you use the bowl they go away
I prefer use the atgeir against trolls
but youre right, lets see what happens next, with the flyers enemies
Drake raids are a pain...
You always miss that one drake and it proceeds to wipe our all your animals
imho the biggest reason to speedrun moder
I put them underground for that reason
How do you like to arrange kilns? I've found that something similar to this arrangement is simple and effective. The angle between the foundations can be altered as needed and there are some limited options for collection methods. If you place the kilns 3m high you could still place wood into the kilns and also use roof pieces to cause coal from up to 3-4 kilns to roll to a central spot.
I don't know about you but whenever I come home with ore I want to use it as fast as possible! Who's got the time to be smelting for a month? Let's bring some industrial precision in our Viking lives and make smelting sexy!

Here it is, the answer to all your breeding needs, explained in a walkthrough and provided in a blueprint file.
Wood age, vanilla build without any of the issues you get on other auto breeder farms.
Currently available on the Valheim Capital Survive server in case you have to see it with your own eyes to believe it ๐
https://youtu.be/Zo_WW07BqXw?si=zUpuSQTkkzmBCiGj
This is the basic version of my Greyling-powered breeding build
No mods needed. It was built on a Vanilla server at Valheim Capital
It's a Wood build without any tricky snapping or difficult food placement
Boars aren't trapped in a box in a 6m high tower
You don't have to go fishing to make it auto-cull
You just need a pile of wood, a fire and...
This is really cool. The lag spikes from having too many boars is always the most annoying part about the automatic breeders so this automatic culling is awesome. I'm curious about making it more compact and if it would work with wolves too. I'll have to experiment with this some. People figuring out how to use Greylings as bait is amazing.
I'm wondering if you could just make a circle that works by combining the height approach and this one. If you start by putting a Greyling in a box in the center with a platform above them with the breeding boars (6 or 8 of them, whatever the limit is) they should hover right over the Greyling with how they are in that example. Then there can be stairs to get the piggies to fall off into the pit below it. Then you just need a staircase/fire at the base of the Greyling.
The reason to combine the height breeders with this is to maximize the rate of piglets being generated.
Yes it works with all known tameables, in fact I have videos showing how they integrate in to my base (https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiA5dIl14FHkK5PQolyR1kOtoepRb-7_l&si=5zfrDpxmfcAgIhVa)
Trying to explain it has been difficult so this one is already the most cut down, compact version I have made that still shows you everything you need to know.
I've had a group of breeders, whether its all Boar or a combination of Hens, Boar and Wolves, and the only reason you need to separate them at all is if you want their own drops to lead to different outcomes. Such as, the Wolves are free range. You can also have two drops in order to split their chances of being culled.
Should I keep the all stone roof or do some wood in the center to break it up a little bit? The wood would just be standard A frame. View from top and inside
center hall is 10m tall
something like this maybe
if you hide iron floors inside the stone it SHOULD increase the stability. cant say for certain because i cant see the extent of your build
Oh the whole thing has iron beams and iron grating hidden inside the stone
Stability works just wondering if the wood top might look better
Still need to add the merlons around the edge but the roof is feeling very flat and empty
whats the seed code ?
we alrdy have worlds but the map looks kinda nice so it would be a nice if you share the seed code
Sure, but you do know that you can only access it when I'm in the world right?
Did you get it?
Cash on the throne look cool
could someone give me suggestions for what i should add to the walls to brake up its blandness and what to add to the ground pls
Grow ivy seeds next to the walls.
thank you
You could also cultivate some spots, plant the veg of your choice, then once it shows the seed flower go back and re-grass it?
Nice tile work

I have a whimsical idea for builds in Mistlands on my current playthrough, and looking to see if any of you might have some builds/ideas related to this! The theme I want to go with is Toys and Out-of-scale objects that make the player feel like they are very very small, like an action figure.
I'm thinking a dollhouse, with big open sides, could be a cool base.
Large sculptural rollerskates, a big rocket ship, blocks with numbers & letters on them, a teddy bear, etc. What else might make for fun giant-stuff to build in Mistlands?

- Build.
- If not happy, delete and rebuild.
- Repeat until happy.
^ The single method that all of the above screenshots and all future screenshots use.
how do i get the logs?
Knock down an oak and get the log into the water
From oak trees, they grow in the meadows (tho kinda rare) and you can plant them with a cultivator and acorns. You need a metal axe to chop them down.
good enough for a plains main base?
How do you pull it open/closed? Lock a cart behind the logs & pull? And then at the end let the cart fall into the water when done?
Walk in the opposite direction, being blocked by something
It's like a treadmill but it makes the logs move
Need ideas for my food/cooking area, Was going to have storage downstairs, fermenters are already there with a Mead Kettil.
Probably other big stuff like ovens, not sure what I could do for a nice design though, do I just build what is essentially a modern house?
thought maybe 2 high stone walls then wood for rest, unless that'd just look ugly
I Have completed the game a LOT of times... but I never really build with stone, just need some tips/ideas ig
Would recommend you start the way irl kitchens are designed.
Think about what things are used for, what they are used with, and how you want to be able to move around the space efficiently.
This includes things like the Cauldron Upgrades, even though you don't use them - pretend you do, and place them accordingly.
I already have a layout in mind and know what I want/need
More just the outside, I literally have never built with stone and wood
would it just look awkward to have a half stone half wood wall?
Embellishments come after function. So build the kitchen the way it is going to work, then look at the remaining space for what kinds of decoration you can put where.
The outside will also be done afterwards because you need to have the venting holes for the smoke in place before you can decorate around things.
You also may decide to attach to another building or put something like an animal pen outside during the process. Which is why decorations come last once the finalized structure stands.
Your name sounds familiar, how you talk too
Do i smell a sushi belt enthusiast
That's exactly why I did the bottom first, I know I wanted the cauldron near the fermenters and having a little chimney running through the upstairs kitchen might be cool, so ig just continue down that road of placing functional things first?
Banned for having opinions ๐
ripppp, saw you disappear but no one ever said anything about it
noticed you were gone a while ago while trying to find your little sushi belt document thing
sucks you got banned though dude, you helped me big time with pipes in the past, could I be a little cheeky and ask if you could send me the sushi thing if you still have it?
It was sudden and without warning.
Legit no warning. No timeout. Just "boom, you are now banned." without explanation until I reached out to a friend who was on the mod team who told me something to the lines of "I'm not supposed to tell you this, but apparently this..."
oh, that sucks
perfect location make sure to layer workbench building circles over the area to prevent stuff from spawning
LMAO we did! we are starting with the dock so we can better/easily move our stuff around
Castle of Bees
First time trying this method, using it with wolves but I can't get the babies to run off the edge. Any tips?
Harpoon?
The stair is enough for Piggies or Chickens but Wolf pups need a full circuit to run around with a 3x2 (minimum) hole. Then they fall down the hole when cutting the corner. I can post an example image later, or join me on the Survive.Valheim.Capital server where I am finishing Breeder Level 2, which has Boar, Hens and Wolves in one.
This breeder is fully automated, including culling (if needed)
I'd really appreciate a picture
I love the design already, it's going to save my frame rates for sure
OK the drop area like this will suit Wolf pups, still works for Piggies and Chickens
Still works ๐
Genius! I'll be trying this one
Happy to help if you need it. I made this one really basic, once you've built it this way you can modify to suit your base.
I remember trying to figure out a way to.. separate the boars from the piggies a while back, didn't think of this method ๐
I've been doing this in various forms for a couple of years. Wasted my time trying to get the message out on reddit. Great to have some proper feedback! There's also a blueprint
Can you link the blueprint?
I assume this is allowed here https://discord.com/channels/1322205362253860955/1355833098649993217
It's a Valheimians link for those not on there already

chatgpt did this xd
No.
Maybe a boar farm, smelting hut and docks
Also a giant border wall with guard\sniper towers
man everyone is building the banana crate house huh. (i copy his basement idea every time)
id make a dedicated dock/smelting area next if i were you. Its so convenient to have easy cart access from your boats to your smelters
Good flow in working areas is everything ๐ค
it's a perfect design for mid game :D thanks for the idea i will try
So making my first like castle build and i want my tower there to be taller than most of the structure but i dont know what to add now for the rest. help?
Having a mental block on this build now
you probably are building to wide, id highly recommend building more narrow and making the most out of you're vertical space

lol I stumbled upon this forever ago, maybe this will help ๐ค
I went AFK for a while to let the boar pile up and grow up. I initially thought that they would aggro to the serpent and all rush en-masse to their doom, but instead I had to push them out one at a time. Probably better this way though, because I did not anticipate a boar being able to bite the serpent for 9 damage.

Those poor boars lmao
even that one feels like too small of an encolosure, idk if its too large of an area but also thinking of maybe having 2 serpents, ive already placed some scaffolding for where i wold wall off the ocean.
Thoughts and recommendations welcome
Any improvements? I still need to add some docks a tower in one corner dig a lil more in the trench and get the smithy online (I need to go get bronze tools).
16th century pentagonal villa from Italy. seems like it'd be pretty easy to build
started to rebuild a draugr base and so far I've got the mead hall, still need to add depth details but running out of ideas xD. Does it even look good?
goodday mates, always relied free handing and/or weird random snap points to get some nice stone wall patterns, i finally worked out a "scientific" snap-tight method to do it.
Nothing new or unknown, probably many builders do the same or almost, but since i came across it and works fine i'll share.
Relies of course on the old wooden door extra snaps, i always get the base foundation first, stuff it with ivy, then enrich it with all kind of patterns, same on both sides and only overhanging by half a meter.
The Grausten Medium Pillar/beam, the corewood beam and the old reliable wooden door. The cornerstones of finding the right snap-point for the job.
right! actually the house on first screenshot's background was a test for that: corewood beams used to lower the sloped walls enough so they don't stick out of the roof but still cover the whole face wall
Aye, getting .5m height with corewood is well handy, at least until grausten, which opens up loads of .5m options. Thats a nice looking jerkinhead roof btw.
eheh thanks, there was a nice image summing up main roof types on this channel, i was like "that, i want that" then the rest came out of necessity to have overhanging roof but without visible beams in the way
Well it came out looking great! I'm so excited about the DN teaser pic with what looks like a much steeper roof option. This game is just viking lego to me.
aah you dam right! if they really add 64ยฐ roofs (i guess would be that, up 2m / side 1m, opposite of 26ยฐ) i'll shut doors and phone and stay in for weeks. Exactly, i regret i already named my hammer+ scrapbook-world "sandbox" and not "legoland" eheheh

Is there something wrong with my settings to cause everything to be this ridiculously dark for all the lights there are or is this supposed to be normal
No idea what your settings are but try a couple of scones. A flame gives more light than these lanterns
Looks a little dark to me but not excessively so.
Most lights in Valheim don't reach very far. Your best bet are either the blue braziers and iron torches fueled with greydwarf eyes or dvergr circlets on item stands as spotlights. Or just using more of them.
Seconding the dvergr circlet on item stand as a spotlight idea - I love using that in my builds. Depending on how you position them, you can get some truly beautiful and bright lighting โจ๏ธ
We all know how to make a floor on top of a tall tower, but how about a floor on the bottom
The idea here is to use the typical Orthanc shape to hide trees within the wall, while leaving the central room empty. At the base, the central room extends almost into the stem, but further up, it narrows to avoid showing the branches. From there, it narrows further into a circle. This circle can then be extended to almost arbitrary height, by using overlapping signs with max font, and the | character.
The goal here is to create as tall of an (open) ceiling as possible.
(Signs are actually placed inside floor, so that they render. Just use space to have the chars further up.)
It looks bad, right? (translator)

im sure theres a more effecient way to do circular floors
atleast the little barrier masks the ugly edge of the floor on the stairs
how would i go about capping off this circular roof?
Make a square above it and add a cap roof peice or four corner roof pieces
Do you need to?
ideally, yeah
because if i dont it leaves a snowy circle in the middle of my otherwise clean but unlit stairwell
Ah, so if you inset a wood floor like a half meter that should give you what you're looking for.
exhibit A

strange observation, snowflakes dont seem to come in through the top, rather they form a column where they appear to phase in/out of existence
its more noticable when animated
anyway, this works fine enough for my purposes, ty!
this == floorboard?
If you take a bit to position it, it shouldn't be "wonky" ๐ญ It should be barely noticeable inside and invisible outside.
MEASURE TWICE
nah the base is measured out
Also you can just complete it with the angles and then snap the cross on there using the "Center" snapping option.
its just im being kinda lazy and not removing parts of the circular roof so i can accurately build
i begrudgingly removed them
i often build a false ceiling underneath the external roof and leave a gap big enough for smoke to escape the hole
i dont plan on putting a fire in here, thats for the main room
the circular area is just a fancy spiral stairwell
although... a kitchen in here would go so hard
i could even knock out part of the wall later and add the stone oven for pies and such
I love building Kitchens, make sure you have adequate storage nearby too
roofs lined up anyhow, i just wish we had better pre- plains roofing options
I quite like Thatch, its one of the easiest to mesh together for circular rooves and such. Does take a bit of work to get it looking decent with stone i agree
its fine i suppose
Example from my current playthrough:
i just miss having shingles
im taking my sweet time getting to moder so i dont have much plains time under my belt on this character
I usually manage to nab some tar early on by instigating a war between the tar blobs and a nearby fuling village. But for me is mostly for the darkwood stuff
Pre-Plains roof?
You mean stone? ๐
nah, thatch
But you can use stone if you don't like thatch for a "better" roof pre-Plains.
All that snow on the angled part but the side of the roof is pristinely clean ๐
Also that hotbar order ๐ญ
i like this a lot
just go get some tar you dont need to kill moder for that, plains is pretty friendly for someone in mountain gear
especially if you have the frostner
Who here has an idea for a mountain base? Iโd want to find the highest possible point on my map and expand from there. Possibly use rocks to raise the ground level
Love this design. Current filling up an entire island of houses and neighborhoods with this design๐ itโs hard to get a solid medieval style
Got about 7-8 different house types im working with
Castle
I wanna do a castle but the only way Iโd be able to is if I wrapped it around a mountain peak, Iโd want it big๐ ๐ thatโs probably gonna be my next project tbh
Do it, moder aint going anywhere
LOL Iโll trap moder in a hole
Thanks! I took inspiration from someone else's post here for the basic layout: #building-tips message
Have to admit, I am a little bit addicted to building Mountain castles. I'll post a bunch of them in screenshots channel soon for you to peruse for ideas but here's a quick snap of my current (wip) build:
My main advice is to try not bite off too much else you risk burning out and abandoning the project. Here's just one out of many abandoned examples of my over-ambitiousness:
I envy you. My only goal is finishing every project I start. Iโm trying to only have a few going at once. Your castle is like exactly what I inspire to create haha
Guys can you guys help me scale the house on the top I only need scale for the ground floor
hmmmmm
Anyone here offering up some inspiration or ideas? Brains been a bit foggy lately and my creativity is just kind of drained. I dont want a...blocky throne room/castle.
Maybe something like this will suffice for the dimensions you are looking for if you make the width the same as well. added a base image and one built with the roof. second image i used some gizmo on at the entrance but only posted for a visual example.
Thanks you this really help
no problem :) i think that when you build the sides at the front and back you basically got what you need

Any design ideas for a practical dock with a storage hut? Basic/core wood. Preferably high enough to avoid the huge waves during a storm
If you can find an area where the coastline is in an inlet of sorts then you dont need to worry about waves as they will dissipate before reaching you. My dock here is less than a metre above sea level and yet never gets flooded, even during storms.
what's the best basis for a little meadows woodsy base (that I am going to make huge)
stone? dirt with wood supports? rawdogging the floor straight on the ground?
I kind of want to make a cute little basement but unsure how to most efficiently do that without running into structural errors relatively quickly
You may already know this but I will say it anyway, the easiest way to get a nice straight walled basement is to ensure your build is built facing a cardinal point (North,South,East,West). This means you can get a nice square/rectangular hole rather than jagged edges.
I've done them all at one point or another. If your question is in regard to aesthetics then you can make them all look good, just go with whatever feels right or looks best for you. In terms of which one would survive being smashed by monsters? Raised earth walls are indestructible whereas everything else you mentioned isn't, so...
Would you be angry if I copied this but changed it slightly
Can you further explain what you mean? Like send a picture of a coastline because Iโve been trying forever and they always get flooded
Not at all, have at it my man!
What are some of your favourite 'farming spawner" builds from boar to mobs to the fire things in the swamp? I wanna see them ๐
None. Give the boars space to roam ๐ญ
Quick and dirty vid showing what i mean, you can see at the end that you dont need to go very far inland for the waves to peter out.
Your 'auto or semi auto' farms
Guys do you guys know how to make the roof like that
With gizmo :)
Maybe possible with roof corner pieces but I never tried something like this
I tried some kind of pagoda styled roof once.
hey guys anyone got a stone castle build for a plains base?
im a complete noob at building so any guides/vids would be greatly appreciated
i got three questions. this a castle/fort/base for the plains im currently trying to come up with properly. using the part ive built so far. would you start raised above ground or ground level? and how would you decorate/not make this so flat. and how would you do the top/next/roof. thanks
Breeding or spawn farming?
Any just wanna see what kind of practical builds people have done
- No barrier between breeders and food
- Breeders stay together
- Piggies always flee
- Optional auto cull
- No mods, no shift click requirement
- No 6m height requirement (with auto cull)
can be done in plains
this is base i built in the end-game so if u build it just in plains time it can be upgraded overtime
graustein is trickier than i expected. has anyone made any statues out of graustein yet?
wish we had waterfalls
go to the edge of the world if u wanna see them
We can always build some crazy verhicles (gizmo)
how can u build in that place without getting pushed is there any command for it ?
debugmode+god should do the trick
but when im flying i still get pushed
I got the same with vanilla valheim but most of the time I use some mods to build
gizmo/infinity hammer/server_devcommands one of them should do the trick
ah so there is mods preventing that push ok ok
meybe there is a command for that but idk this one - ghost doestn't work this way eather
if u have only god and debugmode and ghost so its 100% from mods then ill try them later
im starting to build my base now, what should i build and where?
Sick build bro
hey someone can help me with some ideas I am currently creatively bankrupt
I have this area in the plains that I want to convert into my main base, currently everything is stored in the tower in the second screenshot. I need space for every workbench here and I am just clueless on what to build that would look good

im looking for ideas for a dock with a smelter/furnace area, my mind is blank today lmao
i like having docks with some cage walls, and i always love to have undergound forges that only have one vent
These are OLD pics from before I had the area finished. The dock can hold two long ships, and two carves, has a covered area mostly for ambiance, and what isn't seen in the pic is the area that's dirt on the left is where I have two charcoal burners, two smelters, and two blast furnaces. This is for a solo set-up, and works well enough. I'll try to get you an updated pic so you can see how everything is situated.
Here's a more finished view. Directly across from the docks is the smelting area, and the building on the far right is a workshop with the work bench, basic forge, and storage.
:ooo
thoughts on this area should i build a base here below that broken bridge
In the Mistlands? In troll gear? With Meadows/BF tier food? You do you buddy.
All that aside, looks like a nice clear section of ML, might wanna make sure you have floorspace to make a farm area though.
yes im insane
i need advice for building design, i want it to be armory building and i have plenty of space to build it. So if you have any ideas please text
just came up with this grausten circular platform, and i think it looks really nice!
it began after i built this platform for my ballista, then i just completed the circle and kept expanding
this costs exactly 96 grausten btw
I just the sudden urge to build a 1-1 scale of the Notre Dame Cathedral
I am unsure if it even possible
I remember seeing pics on reddit of someone building it, and that was before grausten was available iirc, can probably make it even more realistic these days, especially with fire hazards turned on.
any suggestion what to add next kinda liking the courtyard farm with asian thatch aesthetics
Has anyone tried making a Crane with grausten/black marble, ive seen a few designs but mostly all wood and stone maybe iron.
Thinking of making a pretty large Crane...
If anyone has a cool Crane build I would love some inspiration
thinking a crane feeding the snakes would be nice
hmmmmm maybe a bit small
I like ur walls can you tell me how u did them please

Anyone have refrences to a valheim build that gives, powerful, magical viking vibes?
Hello, No spoilers beyound stone/iron please <3, I'v started to build my main house, i have not reached iron/stone yet, and im wondering, anyone got any tips to make the exteror look better?
any ideas on how i could decorate this hall, im on plains tier
Adding depth to walls is my starting place. SmittySurvival has a good video demonstrating this on basic wooden walls. Not sure where youโre drawing a line on spoilers, so Iโll refrain from linking as youโll see one or two decorative parts that unlock later.
make the top middle roof a 26 degree roof
What is your goal with the hall? If it's a feasting hall adding a long row of tables down the center with a throne at the head is a good start. Then add more chairs and some hides on the ground. If you want high comfort add a hearth in the corners with some ventilation on the roof.
There's a fair number of us that have done Stave churches, Borgund being the most common. Someone may have it saved as a blueprint if you use mods.
You could add structural features like columns and beams, or frames supporting the roof, if you wanted some realism. It would also allow you to build higher (if needed)
eg. Columns and framing are the main โdecorationโ in my hall
@odd vale
Is that the 2 different ยฐ beams to make it look like an arc?
I am going to use this idea...
same. that's really cool, @hollow tapir!
snek, could be refined, just an idea i got today, you can walk up to the mouth at the top , the body is hollow with stairs
did a thing
I d say add depth (you can use wooden doors cause they have 3 anchor point),add lots of beams and move the roof off by 1 meters to the outside roofs always look better like that. Also the window at the top looks a bit weird. Last advice your terrace will be damage by rain rn you can either add a roof or stone under it to prevent it from taking rain dmg. You may of already have fished your house by now idk but it might help you later anyway have fun on your playthrough
That is bloody awesome!
what can be built here?
warehouse, craft area, kitchen, chill area, bathhouse, bedroom, table for feasting I already have
armor and weapon display area maybe?
Hello, Valheim community! ๐พ
Iโve just uploaded a new video on my YouTube channel where I built a large countryside estate in the Plains biome. Itโs a cozy retreat after long adventures, with a portal for fast travel, full workshop setup, kitchen, guest hall, and a peaceful attic bedroom. The video covers the full building process and layout details, so feel free to get inspired or recreate it!
Iโd love to hear your thoughts or suggestions for future builds!
In this video, I built a large countryside estate in the Plains biome of Valheim. This cozy homestead is designed as a resting place after long journeys and as a farming base for growing flax and barley. A portal inside the house allows fast travel between biomes, making it a perfect hub for any adventurer.

Oh shiz, I was looking at your Longship Dock House recently and loved it! This would be a nice addition for when I steal the idea!
Thank you! I'm really happy to hear that โ feel free to use any ideas you like!
Let me know how it turns out if you build something with it.
HELP: in need of some tips or ideas to upgrade the port/harbour, any ideas? not too much decor stuff yet, only wood/stone basics.
Maybe some wooden gates in the water, at the entrance of the dock for the boats?
interesting..might serve as a ''red sign(doors opened)= dock full...imma try it out!
EDIT: Ah the docks are way too wide for the doors sadly! Its for a longboat
lol ๐
Ah, it's MUCH wider than i thought it was ๐
The most efficient storage method in Valheim is not necessarily what you'd expect? Let me explainโฆ
When it comes to storage, there is only really three valid options:
- Regular Chest โ which has 10 item slots.
- Reinforced Chest โ which has 24 item slots.
- Black Metal Chest โ which has 32 item slots.
So, at first glance you might t...

I wish we could apply some kind of early game varnish to the wooden pieces so they wouldn't turn ugly in the rain.
For example: using beeswax
I agree. Someone else suggested tar as well.
Minecraft copper ahh
are you saying my dock is badly painted?! HOW DARE YOU ๐ญ /s but yeah would be nice! Just unlocked ash(?) dark wood and not I'm having to rethink this dock design...
Not your fault but rain's
This is not made or originaly posted by me, i cant remember from which channel i had this downloaded either ๐ , is the curve on the gates possible in vanilla or is it mods that can do this?
i presume its creative mode because there is no way somebody used a boatload of
for the gate
Placing this here for helpful build tip
it looks vanilla, just using the shift function.
also, it looks like a veteran or someone who know coding magic made this, because of the Odin Hood and cape in the picture
You would need gizmo for the arch, that can't be done vanilla.
This is why the game need a 64ยฐ degree roof/beam part (its result 2V x 1H, that would allow us vanilla to make good sphere/circle/arch etc...
I have a whole lot of building ideas here: #self-promotion message
Putting a Greyling in your breeder build gives you:
Guaranteed grouping of the adult breeders in one spot, no penning them in - which means they can always find the feed
Offspring will always flee from the breeding area (and fall in to the auto cull zone)
In the auto cull zone, offspring avoid the stairs and live to become adults
Adults in the auto cull zone always climb the stairs to get closer to the Greyling, and that's where the smoke is so they die
All this can be done with wood, one fire pit and a captured Greyling
The example video above is for Hens but I have designs for all the tameable animals
anyone got any goods pics or vids on an early game magic tower? I wanna make one but most
build designs I see use glass and all I have is wood, core wood and stone
Romanian old tradition is to have a funky gates like these. The gate must be protekted from the rain as well.
So i always cover all the gates in my world
some1 ever made a Vault or Safe in valheim and wants to share their ideas? I wanna build one under my Longhouse, like where we (our town) stores or valuables!
Thanks for this just built one based on that
Nice! Link a screenshot if you like, would love to see!
Love it, well done ๐
Hey fellas, looking for some inspiration for a plains farm build. any neat ideas?
Valheim ideas
My friend and I have been discussing some ideas for Valheim. I want to put them here to see what the community thinks.
- Adding more variety to the enemies in the Mistlands. We think that the seekers could use a ranged variant. We call it the Seeker Spitter. It flies around more and hovers in place to shoot a ball that does AoE lightning damage and slows you down, but it's very weak to damage and goes down easily.
The second is a big praying mantis type that usually chills out on high rocks. That's because the rocks are generally a safe area from the seekers. It sits there and waits for you to climb up. It shouldn't be very tough or do a lot of damage but it should have a good knockback.
-
The raids are more difficult at night.
This is a simple modification but quite fun in our opinion. The mobs are usually more dangerous at night, but this doesn't extend to the raids and we think it should. -
An ocean rework. We suggest adding randomly floating boats with "pirates". The smaller Karve only has skeletons, but the bigger Longship can have Draugrs.
The second idea are Ocean biome "caves". You sail around and find a small rock pillar that you can climb and maybe find a Sunken Cave. The idea is that you hit the Swamp biome at the same time as the Ocean. Therefore the level of difficulty in the Sunken Cave should be the same.
- The fulling patrols in the Plains that spawn at night can be led by a Shaman or a Berserker. This idea comes from the lack of those enemies outside the villages and for the sake of difficulty they shouldn't have any stars.
So here they are. These are our ideas. We're looking forward to your responses fellow Vikings.
any ideas what i should make?( i got portal room, house, storage, smelting area, fishing dock, farm and was just thinking of sum new to build(Im in Plains))
you can separate the crafting houses into different builds
you can have a build with only kiln, other one with only standard furnace, other with the high furnace.
you can also have only a forge crafting build
other with only the workbench and its upgrades
other with black forges, the mage crafting thing,
kitchen house , crop house
lumberjack house (your tree farm)
add different small standard comfort houses
your main comfort only house
ohhh well
only with separating crafting areas into more non functional builds you can build an entire village xd
you can extend your castle by adding external walls, without destroying the already built walls
to give it more castle vibes you could add outside the walls a large farm area with small houses for the farmers
yea the design you gave it to keep those houses close to other gives that vibe that the castle is constantly in change and populated i like it!
thank you ๐
oh yeah how to get more stone height cap
since i made the towers as high as possible but they are still a little short
you got me there no idea xd, but it seems what you are asking is for a command perhaps?
if you looking to increase your tower with materials here's a couple of options:
iron wood beams with the stone walls, it gives a decent height for your towers
grausten pillars if im not mistaken has a modest structural height integrity which can support higher heights for your tower. Test it along with your iron beams if they work well together
got it
if you are looking to have a nice height with nice structural integrity try building the tower around a pine tree
those trees are quite huge and they will provide a blue structural Integrity all the way up, which of course you can place iron wood beams to extend your tower size side by side
does anyone have a blacksmith build idea
what if you try to replicate minecraft blacksmith structure
hmm not bad but still kinda hard xd
take inspire of the build and make a part stone part wood place
Hi friends
I need a little help
This is my base in my Hardcore world. I have the enemy waves set to maximum and they come up to twice a day. My problem is the following: I don't know what kind of bridge I can make here so they don't break it.
I've thought and thought, but anything I build will be broken by the constant waves. Any ideas you could recommend please?
Basically to enter and exit comfortably with the cart
If u have the gizmo mod, what i usually do is place doors horizontally making a platform with them
I think u could also make a small gap in the bridge
Thanks for the recommendation, I'll try it.
Gates not doors actually
use wood beams separated each other by 1m
the enemies won't attack it or get close to it and you can use as a bridge to cross
Closest I've come so far to an actual drawbridge is this #building-ideas message
any docks/pier build around here
Foarte nice!
Some old overgrown Deutsch town castle ramparts
Achievable with Val build mechanics
I think sometimes my builds are good and then I see these and go...nope, mine are shit lol
Same lol
One day... I will build it.

This looks amazing
It does
Hello! I think I reclaimed too much land, and now I have a problem on what to do with these much space. This dock can cater 2 drakar-sized ship.
Dock seems empty, I just need your thoughts. Thank you!
I do plan making these
- wisp fountain
- a "viewing deck" of some sort
- a dock house with some Cart parking
Barely enough room for a proper dining hall and throne room but small houses are nice too ๐
We already have our main hall, teleporter room, our own houses, kitchen.
You know what, I think I'll have them transfer the forging area so it's beside the smelting area ๐คฃ
If it's just for a dock area... You could add an inn for the sailors, or a market, or just some random houses
Thanks mate!
I need ideas for a Mistlands build. I play on a dedicated server with a bunch of friends and the two guys that kinda run the server are running a building contest to see who can build the best house for each biome; Iโve already got meadows, Black Forest, swamp, mountain, and plains done but got major writers block for Mistlands and Ashlands. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
You can never go wrong with the black castle
#building-screenshots message maybee a Forge or Storage House for the goods coming from the Ships
Do upside down pagodas hanging from one of the large rocky outcroppings.
If I had the time to build them these would be my bases at each biome.
Dwarven vault in mist lands would be dope
yall what do i do here w my roof
I dont mean add overhang and all that i mean what to place, like, right in the red triangle....
Some windows? A balcony? An attic? Bunch of trophies? The possibilities are vast ๐
I use Meduseld as reference when building longhouses
You can replaace the lower side with stone if so, 2 big pillars as support and one large beam going end to end. Then you just add
has that actually been built in game ?
Scaled down a bit, but yes. https://youtu.be/CmjphZrEAeA?feature=shared 3:02
Hello fellow Vikings! New build headed your way, this time we're headed to the plains to build one of my favorite Lord of the Rings locations - Edoras, the Capital of Rohan! Hope you enjoy this one and appreciate the support!

Its not a full build guide, more of speed build with thought process but still you can get the idea atleast.
yes, made a few variations as well.
add rooms on the wings. Add towers at the end corners. Play with roof windows etc
I CRAVEEEE that we are able to make our own runestones by time the game is fully realised. let us put our mark on the world like ULF and Astrid did!
How have I NOT seen this till now? Admittedly, it was on my list to attempt as a build, but I'm still a bit "crispy" after completing Orthanc (10 months and around 500 hours of pushing designs with dev commands on one build will do that). And I still need to complete the rework of instance reduction via iron removal to get numbers down to a more manageable number, and fix a few errors that are still present.
has anybody made a museum build here? i'm thinking of building one that displays each and every trophies and items from each biomes
i.e. Meadows
-. Eikthyr Trophy
-. Deer Trophy
-. Boar Trophy
-. Neck Trophy
-. Wood
-. Finewood
-. Stone
-. Flint
-. Raspberries
I've never done a specific museum. But I usually have a hallway leading to my throne room that is lined with all the weapons and armor from each biome to show progression.
yeah i kinda wanted to do a museum but i'm pretty uncreative about it lmao, and i think just showing off the trophies isn't going to satisfy me enough
i want to display everything the biome has
That's how I do it. There are the 2 armor stands showing both armors (though I guess 3 now for BF) and on the wall behind them going upwards is all the weapons.
would you mind posting your build?
Yes because I haven't played in a long time, and started again last night. Which means I wiped my old world ๐ So what you want cannot be done. Sorry ๐
Same , I have just started back and the server we rented was wiped months ago . What we had done is the armor stands as you progressed with the weapons / trophies behind on the wall for each biome.
Is there any pretty Wolf pen idea, build, blueprint or whatever could help me decide what I'm gonna do with my dawgs?
not for wolves, but I have this tiny hut of sorts for my boars: it's basically an octagon (rotate each side twice) and the walls are there only to prevent damage from bats/wraiths. You can probably do without walls since wolves can fight back, I guess?
you can see I have another one on the far right as well, more than 10 meters away for maximum yields: I keep 2 boars in each and just use 4 berries total to get 24 leathers scraps and 24 boar meat ๐
Ah, "The boars are happy".

I sure hope they are!
took me quite a while to find a design that was efficient, but not necessarily an eyesore to look at
originally there were no walls at all, but they all died TWICE in the span of like... 30 minutes because of two different raids...
Any beehive build? Not necessarily a big and impressive one, just one with natural looks.
i don't think googling is the point of this channel
one of mine ^_^
yeah, I also place them on some sort of platform like that, it makes it easier to collect the honey
I usually have this design for beehives.
Wait how do they not need more space in the circles??
I'm not sure, but that works. There is open space above tho.
I think the orange lines probably turn green because the hive is just slightly more outside?
I'm not sure how much open space they require but that has worked so far.
Had to check tho, but none of them said they'd need more open space.
well, I was only counting the planar rays, but if the 45-degrees ones come into play, then yeah, you're definitely safe since beehives need less than 60% of cover
even assuming the orange lines remain red, you effectively have 12/17 rays without cover, which leaves you with slightly less cover than 40%, which is the threshold for beehives
Right, good to have some new info, thanks!
If the beams start inside another object, that is not collision. They need to enter it.
..I think
Hello, Valheim community! โจ
Iโve just uploaded a new Valheim build video where I recreated the Riverwood Trader from Skyrim!
This cozy medieval shop captures the classic atmosphere of Riverwood โ complete with a merchantโs counter, living quarters upstairs, and that warm Skyrim vibe we all love.
If you enjoy Skyrim builds or just love detailed Valheim architecture, check it out โ maybe itโll inspire your next project!
Iโd really appreciate your feedback and ideas for what I should recreate next.
๐ฌ If the video reaches 50+ likes, Iโll try to rebuild the entire Riverwood village!

In this video, I recreated the famous Riverwood Trader from Skyrim in Valheim.
This cozy medieval shop is fully inspired by the original design from the village of Riverwood, brought to life using Valheimโs building system. Itโs a perfect trading post or roleplay location for your Viking settlement.

Little natural looking beehive corner. Thought about using Valheimโs building tools creatively.
Hey Vikings, I want to share my labyrinth, an area that took 16 days straight to level the terrain, and then building everything took more days and hours. Unfortunately, it's a very instance-heavy area. After completion, it reached 80,000 instances. It was difficult to walk with all the lag. When I walked to the center of the labyrinth, I reached 80,000 instances. I tried to reduce all the details in the entire labyrinth to make it smaller, but it didn't help much; it currently has 50,000 instances. I'm upset because there's no way to play smoothly within the challenges I created. Anyway, that's it, my Hunter's Labyrinth. I hope the developers can optimize it one day, thank you.
i tried to built it , not the best tho
Saw this spot for my plains base. Been staring at it since i've saw this spot after we've raided the tower. All I ever had in mind was to put my house on top of those 2 pillars with a boat house under.
Id keep the pillars and make a statue of Rhodes thing as legs. Widen the canal and slap a castle on that top
Awesome place for a house, you can make marina bay sands. Build a few more buildings on the left island and some tower or something at the top of the hill
thinking of making the cliff a terraces but idk
Maybe tiered farm terraces? Could look really nice
ideas for a workbench area in the meadows? Iron age
Yeah! I'll try hoping those rocks can be cultivated.
Putting banners inside your walls
ngl. thats genious.
i love it! but i find it expensive for deco tho, imo
Foind this beatiful piece of land rigt at the edge to Darkwoods. Any nice build dieas?
sawmill like the ones from skyrim in riverwood, the one next to the river if my mind is not playing me
Anyone have ideas for nice fireplace covers that don't look too "heavy"? Like if you're building a tiny little hut somewhere, too small to fit a fireplace inside and want one outside that works even in rain - but again looks as light as possible
This kind of vibe:
I think that depends on what you consider looking light. I have two concepts for you: 1. a tiny hut, workbench not enough cover for usage, 2. even tinier hut but with usable workbench. - Oh and the workbench is used as wind-cover for the fire.
That's a neat little hut ๐ Workbench and/or bed etc were a bit beyond my scope for it but still neat to see
Reminds me, i need to test if i can cover fireplaces with just a 45ยฐ wood beam.
has anyone ever attempted making the Punic Port of Carthage?
something like this in a dedicated RP server would be so cool
Ill build something like this eventually might be a month before I get to it
that would be sick ๐
don't let any Romans see it though
carthago delenda est ๐

Salthage
lmao
if a server ends up getting setting up for that definitely lmk ๐
me too, if anyone ever starts building this thing lemme join in
I might ive been procrastinating making a modpack for a crossplay server that has the expand_world mods on it for a slower progression
3D Krak des Chevaliers layour if anyone is up for the task.
South side
The bridge is an aquaduct to fill the inner moat with water. That wont be achievable :p
Bet, Iโll start as soon as possible, although it will be quite the challenge
At the very least Iโll take inspiration from it
Build the "stoneblood saga" world and send it to me
Old/Generic Norse Longehouse idea, can place fire in the middle and make a makeshift chimney on the little corner slits
Heorot inspired mead-hall
Basically bees need to not be trapped either by terrain or objects because the beehive "technically" has open sides two of them it treats it as fine, that's my understanding of it anyway take it with a grain of salt
Do y'all think this little island could be a good spot for a base?
Thats plenty of space for a base the one south of it could be a good option as well
The one on the south looks easy to raid proof, lol
Only issue is I don't get the nice black forest ambience
Thats true you could have a base secluded in the middle of the island or go for more of a coastal base with a dock or something maybe
Coastal base is tempting
the island is large enough to house multiple bases if you chose to do so, one could be a farm/animal breeding base with the other one being your main base of operations
uuuuuuhhhhh, i like that seed! Could you share?
The seed is in the bottom of the pic... ๐
oh boy do i feel stupid i didnt even notice ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ
The spot just to the left with the nice inland lake/lagoon & bonemass & yagluth could be a nice mid game base location with sailing along that inner river coast
the blue island if you want a plains farm area
you can do the housing out of vertical beams, a circle of those
Hey Vikings! ๐
I built the Legendary Riverwood Tavern from Skyrim in Valheim โ this is just part one of my project to recreate the whole Riverwood village.
Check it out and let me know what you think! ๐ฅ https://youtu.be/L2WXIb3et3M
In this video, I built the legendary Riverwood Tavern from Skyrim in Valheim.
This cozy Nordic inn is fully inspired by the original design from the village of Riverwood, recreated with Valheimโs building system. Itโs a perfect place for rest, feasting, or roleplay in your Viking world.
_______________________________________________________...
Man, your builds are really cool!
does someone have a starter base idea for under 600 wood because im not the greatest builder
Does anyone have any cool elder basses?
I want to make a fort above and below the altar
thank you! ๐
I know im late but islands are usually good when they're not super sized the island to the south of that is better
Anyone done a build inside of a Jotunn skull?
I threaten to every time I hollow one out, but never make good on it.
I don't think I could do a whole base around one, but it would be metal AF to hollow one out and make it a room specifically for a Galdr Table.
I have a set of upright ribs that I plan on using, probably as an entrance. Not sure yet.
what mods did u use for that
That looks vanilla.
The lower level windows look like crystal and stools.
Any ideas on how a base inside this hole could look like? Its literally a mountain well on the highest mountain all around the biome and even above a mountain cave. Im thinking about widening the top part a little with stone and then digging the hole bigger and bigger underneath the stones to get a nice comfy hole in the middle of a mountain. Maybe i could even go to the borders of the walls and build a mountain window. What do you guys think?
Did you find out that the hole goes about 4m deeper if you pop the floor out?
Yes. First thing i ever found out about them. And from that point you can dig another 8m down cause its 8 from the natural ground down
Literally the deepest possible hole on this world i think
I am in the process of completely replacing every piece of this one with Black Marble.
Oh yea this would be my other question. Whats the best stone for such a build? Strongest, prettiest whatever
Black Marble is the best stone in the game.
Nice. Guess then i gotta replace it all too once i know what exactly to do
Doing it one piece at a time so it is an exact recreation. Takes a good long while but am hoping is worth.
For sure. I just checket the depth of my hole here. Its 40m
Im starting to think the seed i have here is really really good. I found so many thing that are rare. And then this. How lucky can one be
I am not going to dig it any deeper though, because the actual replaceable bits only go down the extra 4m. So I will move the floor down to the lowest part of the generated wall.
Why donโt you just continue the wall from where it stoped all the way down?
Because then I wouldn't be replacing ๐
Why is that important though?
So you just donโt want to go deeper? Alr. Makes sense and is a valid argument.
I just realized I canโt widen the hole. Since the rest of the walls wasnโt naturally that deep.
Nope. Not even thatโs possible anymore. I literally maxed out the room down there to the max
Alr. Have fun. I gotta go too
But before i do, imma just repeat the question and, also here's the proof. Build using 4m poles and every pole-end a lantern. 40m deep hole in the middle of the mountain.
My question is: What would you guys suggest me to do with it? Any ideas?
Finished replacing all the stone bits with black marble ๐
@junior perch covered. Now time to extend tower up and connect to main building. But deep in the basement of this will be the secrets of the Galdr ๐งโโ๏ธ
Damn. You covered that hole better than I ever managed before
It's just the normal floor pattern that is on the bottom with the stair bit cut out ๐
Oh. Guess then I should not have removed it before
๐
๐ perfect
Aw man. Thatโs gonna be a drag
Wait. Your gonna make the tower above ground higher too? Good idea actually. Idk why I always kept these wells as hidden as possible. I could build a neat little stone tower. As high as I can. Then I might actually be able to build a tower over 60m or so deep. From top to bottom. Wich means more floors. Wich also means more space. I think imma do that
Thing starts on the ground so ironwood supports will have maximum structural points to assist everything going upwards.
I'm building an entire mountain base up here ๐
Maybe. Just maybe I should take down all of the well but the top part and build it anew using ironwood and hiding it in the stone
@tropic granite sry for the ping
What do you think? Should i continue like this or switch to the twisted rotation design it originally had?
Well then. I dug the well a little out. The top wooden floor is where the well originally was. I intend on making the tower as big from this point on as i prebuild it with wood below alr. But theres a small problem with the snap points. Any ideas how i can fix that? Or is it maybe because i switched from stone to wood? Cause if you look closely not all the wood walls connect to each other.
Ok someone with a degree in geometry explain this:
Single anchor point. Every beam is exactly 2 rotations. Yet somehow it is getting FURTHER away from the wall?
math...
@junior perch https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/1ottq1j/build_guide_how_to_replicate_the_sunken_stone/ Link is simpler than typing a book in here.
It includes how to do the stairs perfectly as well.
So happy right now...
Got the cap a bit cleaner on this go around.
Final adjustment: This is the most floor you can have. Anything inside that red triangle stops you from actuallybeing able to walk down the stairs.
Neat. Hope it turns out as good as I imagine it. Thx a lot
just finished this roof. Don't like the way I can't put any arches in the inner corners of the stairs there. I could go crazy with even more iron wood, or do you think it looks alright as is?
@rich birch all the screenshots are here?
I don't know if it's cutting off the gallery but I don't think I see a finished tower here
I'm not making one? Just made a single floor following that replication and am seeing what can fit in.
This project was for other people ๐
Ohh, yeah I mentioned seeing a finished one my bad
What is your tried and true method of putting spawn-blocking items in a build yet making them look decorative enough that they donโt detract from the build?
spamming these
either that or make loads of simple little round circular huts with benches inside, helps make a village build look more populated too.
The normal fire you can build without a hammer. Place them all over the place and bury them in the ground. Or let them burn until they stop and let them just sit there.
Do you guys know a better way of hiding my tables inside of stone? Like here im hiding the black forge but theres still a small part showing on the right side
Are you trying to make it useable or just hidden?
Both
Why hide ๐ญ It looks amazing ๐ญ
I know. But you see. THe crafting table does not. Black forge looks good but i still wanna hide it for a experimental build
I want to try hide everything in the walls and see how the room will look
Valid. I got nothing though.
Use 1x1 floor to increase or decrease height by fixed amount.
It's more consistent compared to eyeing height on the 2x2 wall.
But for very fine tuning, 2x2 wall is still the best option.
For black forge specifically, u can hide it like it's part of the marble floor.
So it looks something like flowing lava channel on the floor.
Looks better and easily to access rather than hiding it completely and rely on invisible hitbox to access it.
Alr. Got it thx. What I noticed so far is that for example the way I have it rn you can walk up to it and use it with no problem. Thereโs a small section of itโs curve looking out the stone wich makes you able to interact easily. If I use your tips and this little section I might be able to build a special and custom table for a home on wich you can craft anything. All the crafting stuff inside it. And maybe even a multi kitchen. With the cauldron and all the others build inside
Thx for the help
Wood patterns overlap too much so I'm trying to decide between the stone/marble and the grausten floor @junior perch HALP
Hm. I think with grausten it looks best
Kinda fuses with the rest of the build
Ty. It also breaks up the color so you don't have 360 degrees of blackness. Floor being a lighter tone gives it a nice pop imo.
Now to see how tall I can push this thing and screenshot it for @rich birch
Np. Happy to help even if itโs smt simple as that
I tried with both wood floors but it just looks bad when you have to clip the edges compared to how the rock floors handle it.
Yes. I know that problem just to well. Imma make a suggestion out of this actually
Newer player here, What are some ideas for a center piece, I have a simple farm house that's rounded and has all my crafting stuff in the 3 corners, comfort area/bed in the 4th corner, and kitchen against the back wall with the hearth. My center is open and empty and I just can't seem to find a centerpiece I like. Any suggestions are nice, I'm just getting a foothold in mistlands for my "tech level" if you will.
How much space do you have?
@charred nova Dead center would be 2 floor tiles by 2. Otherwise I think at least 4x4 or maybe even max 8x8, sorry for late response currently at work.
Circular black forge setup with four black forge tables
Am I aura-farming or is this shit?
needs more stuff like a cool roof, but is a solid base
Right of the doorway or across?
upgrading my room from my previous "room"
Also not very happy with the roof, i think it would look much better with the next level of roofing, the one using tar
which i havent gotten before, but ill work towards just for this lol
Does anyone know a good place to make a permanent base in the meadows with somewhere to dock a ship? Really struggling to find a decent location since starting the game two weeks ago ๐
Find a dverger village with a dock. Then replace the parts with your own and you got it
By Dverger village do you mean the derelict half broken structures around the map?
Yes. There are some next to water and they have a dock
Dvergr docks are in Mistlands, not meadows. @fair ruin don't worry so much about making a perfect base in Meadows. Think of it like playing around to figure out how to make a good base. You'll find better locations elsewhere.
Oh. Sry. My brain made a switchero with meadows and mistlands. I had mistlands in mind while reading meadows. Sry
Hard for us to tell you a place unless one of us is somehow on the exact same seed as you, no?
Meadows are typically a fairly flat biome with plenty of clearings and access to water, so it's surprising to read this. Could we see a screenshot of your meadows biome so far?
Morning All (sorry for the slow reply and thank you for the help)
So it turns out Iโve found a nice little spot in the Meadows right on the edge of a Black Forest which is working quite well
Problem was that Iโve never sailed or used a ship yet so Iโve just learnt that Iโm probably still in the first 5% if not less of the map ๐
With the right seed and no exploring for the sake of exploring i think you can beat the game having explored less than 5% of the map
By seed do you mean server/account? sorry, understanding the terminology on this game seems very different to others!
The world is randomly generated, your seed represents your specific instance of the randomly generated world.
In this case, by "the right seed" i mean a randomly generated world where the important world locations like boss altars and such are relatively easy to find and close to spawn.
Ohhh so all of our maps are different??! Thatโs quite coolโฆ
Each different seed takes place in one large master map that has certain land formations, world gen randomizes biomes in their range they appear and all the POIs and locations that can be found.
Any ideas on how to top off my second tower? (its meant to be shorter)
i may lower the smaller tower too depending on what caps it off
i was thinking maybe just a classic ridges for cover, but dont know how i can prevent rain rotting all the wood below when its not covered by a roof
Why not both
doesn't look bad to me tbh
Valid
Goof/goody.
Should i add a port or no? (port or no port may be in a spot outside of the inner manor walls like an outer town)
You should
The first design looks solid
yeah i think so
Working on a grand hall/viking throne room
Really trying to get as much ornate wood detailing as i can, to show the sense of wealth/power this person has
any chandelier build ideas out there? found something on youtube but those are a bit not-to-fancy for my preference for a church build.
does anyone have any ideas as to what i could put in empty space inside a colloseum

Ik it's just me being a proud asatro (My faith is Nordic Mythology) but i'm a bit dissapointed to see a christian church in Valheim๐
No offense ofc๐
Btw i have no idea for a chandelier build for you sadly, as i'm a bit rusty in the building area in Valheim currently bc it's been a long time ago. Sorry๐
Thinking i may extend the wall, just feel like the garrison tower might feel a bit odd in that spot, but idk
The shape will be nicer though
i think it was a good move
Trying something different, im conflicted about the shipyard
ill probably re design the boat later
I like what you're building
Oh. Interesting. Well then it should be much easier for you to build
I have built a village before, 3 times i think it is by now
Planning on creating another and then create a discord server to that world
Just finished my first mega base๐ฉ
My latest viking village
Ofc i still need to build more buildings but this is my progress
I'm planning on creating a new village, a fully realistic one, so you guys have any ideas on what i should add to my village this time?
My only idea is probably something you already do ๐ญ
And that is make an individual build dedicated to each workbench type.
I don't actually do that, ofc for a few, but most of the workbemch types are in the blacksmiths in my builds
Things like the workbench, forge, black forge, etc, but the magical workbenches is not in my blacksmiths (I apoligize if i didn't use the right names, i currently don't remember all of them, but i hope you know what i mean)
Yeah, I have a dedicated "workbench" building that uses all the upgrades as decorative pieces in the main room and has its own storage wing.
Then I have my "forge" building with all those upgrades as decorative pieces and on-suite storage.
Then I have my "galdr" building and you get the picture. ๐
Yeah
I do it a bit like that, but mix the workbench building with the forge and stuff, but galdr i would keep somewhere else
I'm planning to make a nice high tower for mine. Glass all around and dvergr spiral stairs up.
Brewery for meads. Bakery. Kitchen. Smithy. Mage tower. etc
Barnyard
Thank you for the ideas. I had only thought on some of them, but thank you
Is there a mod or a command to get all the building blueprints?
I know the mod PlanBuild let's you copy buildings via a blueprint.
Im sorry i didnt clarify what i mean i mean like all for example all roofs and stuff yk? All blueprints you unlock throughout the game
Ah, I know what you mean. If you use devcommands and then type debugmode into the console, you can then hit B with your hammer equipped to enable all build pieces and no cost building.
Thanks alot! Have a great day!!!
not very large but heres a simple one i like to use using a hanging brazier with shaman trophies
How can i keep the fire burning during rain
yeah i know the roof cover style, but ive seen people have the open top fireplace that still works
I would guess that the fire just isn't directly under the chimney in those cases, I can't see it working another way.
you may be right, ill probably try find an example i saw
You make the chimney wider and then alternate beams going up.
Enough space for the smoke to snake back and forth but technically "blocking" the rain.
I just shove a 45 degree roof or two inside the chimney
Making sure that theres always enough room for the smoke to pass through
Roof thing makes it a meter wider than if you just use the beams iirc.
Could try this
Smoke well.. can't pass through
I don't think atleast for this space
Here's a pirate's cove I built. I have other builds like revamped mountains with ice dragon themes with gigantor caves
Ah, I use a 1 by 2 meter hole, and clip the roof inside the chimney as it's getting built
And cover a 1 by 1 per roof with enough space between
that may work
Im looking for some vaguely wooden structure inspiration
is there a godmode build into the game? i watched some building videos and he just flys around. I dont see any setting for that though? only builder mode
admin commands
is that the console f5 thing?
I believe so. It's been literal years since I used it last.
ah ic lol
yes, if you already have in steam put "-console" start the game click f5 and there put "fly" (sorry for my broken english, this is my second lenguage)
to build without stations just write in the console "debugmode" to desactivate write the same again
Hey Gjall! Iโm not sure if I invented a new way to make steep roofs, but hey, it is a way. And just in time to be made obsolete by the Deep North update soon, lol. I put together a little tutorial so you can enjoy making steep roofs the hard way, too, at least until deep north drops.
https://www.youtube.com/shorts/Fh0OnDa6AeA
How to build a steep and pretty roof in Valheim!
Vanilla, no mods!
building in valheim almost seems like ur builkding with the snapping tool and finding work arounds / tech
you can put and hide a piece of wood like 45 degree inside at almost top of the chimney.
Anyone got some small wood/stone cookhouse builds/ideas?
It's not exactly "small", but this is a pavilion-style cookhouse I designed in one of the worlds I play in:
I can sketch out the layout for ya!
how do u get those walls?
Afaik, I got the decorative "fencing" with the wood walls and such
is there anyway around these edges on the outline? i tried the other snapping so it wouldn't do that but then the layout just feels too small. I like the current size.
i am limited to swamp building materials rn too
Trying to come up with a 2 person bedroom idea
https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/n063df/how_to_build_round_towers_with_a_staggered_stone/ here ya go buddy
Guys im currently in the iron age with my friend and we're planning to move our main base somewhere else because spending 30 mins transporting iron with a boat is risky and depressing, any layout ideas for a nice looking village?
Decide what features are important to you: scenery, nearby resources, access to water, whatever. Explore until you find a good spot. โTis the Viking way!
I mean building layout, not location ๐ฅฒ
I can spend a decent amount building but im usually out of ideas
Ahh
Hey Vikings! ๐
Iโve just finished building the Riverwood Blacksmithโs house and forge from Skyrim in Valheim,
this is the next part of my project to recreate the whole Riverwood village.
Check it out and let me know what you think.
๐ฅ https://youtu.be/W6sRDHwk6Dc
In this video, I recreate the Riverwood Blacksmithโs house and forge from Skyrim in Valheim.
The build is based on the original design from the village of Riverwood and adapted to Valheimโs building mechanics. I show the smithing area, the house structure, and the overall look of the building, keeping it close to the Skyrim version where pos...
Honestly, itโd be cool to recreate High Hrothgar from Skyrim on top of the biggest snowy mountain in Valheim.
anyone got an idea of what i could do for a black forest base on a cliff?
A walmart
Corewood supports making it look like it's just barely resisting the sweet siren song of gravity
Thought this was a building for a sec and I was in pure awe
Unrelated lol
Well, I do hope to make it in Valheim someday.
Any cool main workbench building ideas?
First Iโll have to find the tallest mountain
That'd be awesome
Good luck
Thank you
Related to this I've made a sorta outdoor style blacksmith, a tavern for the kitchen workstation and I was thinking maybe some sorta carpenter themed main workbench design
While that is the thematically correct way to do it, i dont think the tallest mountain has any good spots to build high Hrothgar on it
I think the 2nd tallest is better
For this.
Look up the valheim master map, the largest mountains on it are named. You want the one called hook.
Polaris and thorn are not good build locations for this
How so? The Throat of the World is the tallest mountain in Cyrodiil. But High Hrothgar is not even at the top of the mountain. So to be lore-accurate, I should find the tallest mountain and make the build a bit lower than the top.
Yes.
However, you are a bit limited by the +-8 m terrain modification limit.
The tallest mountain is a bit of a big spike without areas that are big enough and able to be flattened the amount you would need.
You need a ledge to start from, and the 2nd highest mountain has one iirc
I mean the 2nd biggest one would work as well, as the Throat of the World is the 2nd biggest mountain of Tamriel
Wait no. The Throat of the World is the biggest of Skyrim, but the 2nd biggest of Cyrodiil
Rough Idea for a mid-game plains build. Let me know if you have any suggestions.
Edit: we use Plant Everything Mods so I can have pretty farms.
Would move the storage and smithing to be closer to the docks from a practical PoV if youโre shipping in a lot of iron / other bits from sea, to save carting past the arena? (Unless youโre using portals for all I guess)
What site did you use to make this layout?
I made this in adobe illustrator. Iโm a graphic designer but thought itโd be nice to preplan a big build for once
Does anyone have ideas for a smallish bakery building/pavilion?
guys, what would u put in here?
im going to make a big castle behind
also here, any ideas?
Anyone know of a world seed with a massive cliff, facing south, over a river? ๐ค
How massive? And any particular biome?
Looking for very tall, very steep. Mountain would be great, bonus points if overlooking the Black Forest.
I will keep an eye out. I have a spot on my map but donโt remember what direction it faces
Appreciate it!
What do you all do for the Galdr table?
It looks nice but really out of place in a workshop
Iโve seen an amazing bookshop that implemented the galdr table. I put mine in a little witchโs cottage
I think I have seen it too, but my problem with the Galdr is the direct surroundings.
I want to put it in the relatively historically accurate forge-workshop I plan on doing, but with this purple vortex it seems out of place. I could put it in a room beside it but itโs still hard to decorate something like that
Yeah, itโs a bit, Mmโฆflashy ๐
See forwarded post
Love the open concept mmmarkusk!
Hereโs what mine looks like #mods-screenshots message
I'm planning to make a high circular tower above my bedroom with glass all around for it.
So the one I was originally thinking of faces northeast and isnโt super picturesque. Did a bit more exploring and didnโt find anything promising
Thanks for checking! I found a spot last night that I think will work. Now itโs time to figure out how to build this thing.
Canโt wait to see it!
Looks good
so I'm curious if there's a predictable pattern to determining where on the map would coastlines with the biggest waves where the waves are in the direction toward the coast. Of the few seeds and locations I've tried, it kinda sorta seems like southwestern facing coastlines are most likely.
Check how far the biome extends out from shore before switching to "ocean," that is your biggest indicator.
Hello, here are some of my recent builds
Anyone got any tips/ideas? Trying to combine hearths and ovens and the cooking stations into one combined great fireplace hearth... Got as far as the screenshot below for the concept but can't access the ovens behind the iron cooking spit...
Turn the ovens 180 degrees to face the other side
Well of course ๐ but the idea is that, there are hearths on both sides, with kitchen this side, ovens in the middle and the other side faces into a great room and just looks like a great fireplace, so that is not the option
ahh, gotcha gotcha
Oh.. there's the solution for anyone interested ๐
Oven to 180 degrees? What recipe calls for THAT? ๐
Reheating pizza ๐
I have one for you.. Check out seed (Dpl0Zsk2bH) at (-548, 149, 3226)
It's on the side of a mountain, overlooking a river, with a small plain and black forest, lots of swamp nearby
Iโll check out! Thanks for the tip!
It's accidentally nice for gjall's trophy lol
