Sofa design idea, the table uses wood tower shield and Grey brute trophies for the vase
I’m working on revamping my base. I got the storage room and forge area so far. Next I might make the kitchen is there anything else I should add after that?
Forge, armory, kitchen, wood/work shop, storage, sleeping quarters, potion shop. I look at the crafting tab and think about what building each station would apply to
Alright what would I put in the armory? Just rows of armor and weapons?
Yea essentially. Could look like an armory for personal use. Or like a merchant shop where armor and weapons are sold/traded. A store front to the operation as it were
Don’t forget you can put weapons on armor stands. What’s really neat about armor stands is they’re really good for a ‘grab and go’ mechanic if you just died and want to gear up quickly.
Great point
Those are both great ideas
Hope to see you in #building-screenshots soon 😉
Surprised no one suggested portal hub
Better ranches and gardens February edition
Was going to do that forgot to mention it
there were already told, didnt really read other comments 😅 "portal hub" and "ranches"
Oh okay
but i think i can still add the small secret cellar to store golds ^^ i so like digging cellars
and it always improves houses (and storage place ^^)
@quiet saffron A distillery
small triangular windows, good idea for a castle 😼
No idea what that is
Alcohol is made in a distillery, so mead in this case
A little bar and grill i put together recently
Nice
Pitfall trash, when you want to get rid of an item. (They will not despawn though, so it's a temporary solution.)
Everlasting torch, with a Surtling's head.
Have you seen the use of surtling trophy for a, modern cook top range? Looks slick.
you can ask in #1024264966712340510
The wall is not expensive in terms of resources spent. Will decorate any fort 😸
The "/roar" command doesn't look interesting at all, yes there is a nice shouting effect, but it is not enjoyable because there is no shouting sound, when will the sounds come to the game, I think the sounds can make this game great.
sorry, ım new
Successful test of my bug zapper
Istill cant get over the fact u play on a widescreenxD
Once you go wide there's no going to the narrow side
Viking Homestead - by TheFlyingMinotaurhttps://i.redd.it/3a8y98wel9171.png
Cute!
Pretty good artstyle
Neat base - not sure who built it https://i.redd.it/0dy3zq7py9191.jpg
The Joyatō Lighthouse (常夜灯 meaning "eternal night light") - not sure who built it
now i just need to figure out how to get shamans to my plains base lol
I used to lure Greydwarves in to a wooden "chimney" and use an earth raising elevator to get them in and on the level I wanted. Now I just spawn them in 😄 They would never get past my Lox/Wolf/Boar/Hen army
i'll just have to figure something out this
that said maybe i'll skip, ballistas should do fine by themselves. We'll see.
@fervent sun
Ballista are OK unless it's a Deathsquito 😑
They definitely waste a lot of bolts, that's for sure. I would definitely have tried building this if it affected bats too ngl
I'm now putting two Shaman cages there, one on top of the other. Saw a Shaman just stand there and take it. At least with two one should be prompted to heal the other until it wakes up
Interesting
dangg mustve been hard getting them in there
I used to trap Greydwarves manually but now I just spawn them in. All my Loxes are hand reared though
nice
dang rip but cool mechanic
have you tried making a bug zapper with blobs/oozers 🤔
Any idea for a mistlands "zapper"?
2 2 star greydwarf shamans next to each other, each in a separate cage.
Is this effective against a ||Gjall||?
No idea, haven't tried myself.
just discovered an interesting new (well, to me) floor idea. tables.
yes, I'll be adjusting the walls accordingly.
I used them for the deck of my bridge

Modified my bug zapper so they can't damage it. Costs less iron than the old model. We'll see how it goes.
Add windmills
I was thinking that alternate windmill and tree on the perimeter would work too. It's a big perimeter though. Would choose that if I didn't want to alarm the farm 😏
Share 2 “sculptures”😊
Fun to fight in
That is amazing!
Impressive work, but I'm confused , you took those screenshots right? so why take a photo of it instead of sharing the screenshots?
Thanks dude !
I’m lazy and couldn’t be bothered to DL discord on my pc to move the image from steam to discord lol
All my screenshots are saved to my steam only have a few on my phone
Aren't screen shots screenshots? 😂
Has anyone ideas about how to hide the Obliterator?
so i used Abomination Trophies as a walkthrough vine wall for a cutty enterance to my house
What about what u did with the stone wall, do with the stone floor?
This is the construction of the indoor floor and walls. Is that the question you want to ask?
I mean smth like that
Are those baskets hanging from chains?
These baskets are made from hanging brazier and item stand
Oh does that require a mod?
No, you wait until the time when the grill has burned out and you can make a basket
Wall for a base
small crane
Is this a download able build somewhere? I'd like to use it in a world build
sunken in chill spot/designated high comfort zone (will probably need mods that allow xyz offsetting/rotation or you'll go insane)
Made it myself not a DL
yes, i meant will you be making it into a blueprint so others can download the awesomeness that you have created?
you can make floor without floor
inspired by a thing someone posted yesterday about mounting abomination trophies on stands, i'm experimenting with making flower beds with those and midsummer crowns.. not totally happy yet
Hmm abomination trophies kinda look like bird nests 🤔 I was also inspired by that post lol
I recognize that pic because it's one of mine...
I've also gone a little crazy on pushing floor designs...
Yeah, pretty cool design
poor mans floor design
I think they're just more suitable for walls than floors. Maybe it'll look better with an hd texture
there just SSAO setting off. it makes everything nice but very dark too
Not ideal tbh. The more instances the less fps. You always have to minimize amount of pieces if you are going for medium/large build.
alguna idea para una zona de trabajos?
English only
compactness, functionality, aesthetics 😼 👍
I have this design in which I have the ovens inside, do you recommend removing them from the structure
.
if you don’t like it, then redo it, if everything suits you, leave it as it is, this is your world and you decide what to do in it, or specify the question, I don’t understand what you need 😼
make sense, i dont have a problem with fps so i cant tell. im in early stage of vanilla survival before bonemass, and for me this floor just hits the spot with the materials i have
2x2 stone floor tiles just boring
Floating text can be handy for storage
Skyrim houses are good inspiration
is there any good way to make skylights with crystal ?
@plain iris face them east and west with a 26 degree roof section above a 45 degree roof. Mods may let you rotate them to a "horizontal angle" but not in un-modded, but i suspect you already knew that much? Sorry I don't have anything better.
Yo this is great thanks for sharing
What length are 1st floor side wings?
Counting the 2x2 wood panels, 5 of them, coming out of the mid door section
I planned out the entire build with core wood supports first to make sure it fitted in scale together
That's the process I'm at now lemme send a vid
Had to raise so much ground behind the build last night after taking this vid
Oh yeh I bet, big footprints require large ground moving
I had to move soo much ground for my survival castle
That rocks dude. I'll show you when I'm done with my jarlhouse eventually
Glorious, good luck. My longhouse took a while, and it’s soo tall that you need stone in the core tower to hold up the wood, fyi
This is crazy cool! Reminds me Sens Fortress, going to borrow some of your technique here 😉
I don't mean this in an insulting way, but how?
There’s a certain asymmetry to it, the style of the castle is very blocky and squared, and the small tall windows detailing the walls. Although sens fortress is taller and lacks thatch rooves. Not insulted, it was a good question 🙂
It's nice to see someone else playing with floor patterns. Keep it up.
how can the glass wall doesn't break??
Did you try ornaments with 1x1 wood flood and 1x1 stone block?
I’m also wondering. Probably some mod ?
definitely
Item stands, iirc, no modding needed.
I don't see item stands 👀
Bronze nails and finewood should unlock it
I mean do you see anything between the glasses?
Ah I understand what you mean now. I don't detect anything between blocks either
Will be helpful here I guess. More options for creative decorations are always good
On vertical item stand you can place, left yo right:
Surtling - fire, skeleton - two orange, greydwarf - two blue, brute - two red, neck - two light green, eikthyr first boss - two red, drake - two blue, yellow mushroom - yellow bright on horizontal stand, draugr - two bright green, draugr elite - one purple, shaman - two green
Its all with glowing effects what I have
You can create a picture on wall with it, like flag, rune, small pixel art or marker lights for tower
@fervent root @unkempt geyser This is strictly vanilla, no mods used for builds. What you don't see due to render distance is the insane number if item stands between every other row of glass block. It can be tricky to off, but the effect from a distance is sometimes worth it. I was about a month behind both Firespark81, and Arch G for figuring this out (both have vids on YouTube), so can't claim it solely as my own, but have been the one to show people here how it's done.
Hello @primal schooner sorry for my accusation 😁 your build is lit. I will definitely try this item stands trick myself 😉
I had been messing around with the combo of wood and stone for quite a while, but some of the more interesting designs are a pain to pull off. I don't exactly have access to the pics since they are on my laptop (had to go digging in other channels).
No problem. I get accused of using mods more often than I care to count. The only mods I do use are Plant Everything, and Torches Eternal, for QoL, otherwise it's creative mode and dev commands to do some outlandish stuff, and insane levels of forcing snap points with doors (splitting the 3 points into 5), and stacking floors to give more vertical options. I used to say that I did it out of principle that complex builds were possible without mods, but these days it's more for Xbox player to see what they should be able to do, since they can't use mods.
Man those are bonkers in the best way possible...
Awesome. It looks very simple and neatly, but after messiag aroung stone and wood patterns I can tell make it good is very hard. Good job
A friend and I crafting together
the eitr refinery will destroy everything if its start to work, I would recommend making a separate room only with black marvel stone to avoid damage
Looks great and awesome! Are you planning to finish your black marble building?
Such a dwarven castle)) is it finished?
It's been finished for a while.
oh gods, it's awesome
May I ask you for some screenshots? I want to share with other builders in our community
Still in progress. Filling in the middle and decorating and such
so high???? how??
я пробовал, но настолько высоко - нет. Там уже стены падают. Думаю, здесь - моды играют важную роль.

Use of dev commands, specifically 'spawn rock_destructible_test' to reset "ground" and have foundational support.

is that "gate" functional? like with wood shutter
It's for show only, being that it's comprised from 6 walls on each side, 4 iron wood beams, a horizontal item stand, and two vertical item stands, then trimmed out in wood to make it look better. The only way that I can think of to make it functional and swing open and shut would be with a mod, if one exists.
a simple 5 minute build idea
Almost an old style turf house, or "soddy" from a bit more than a century ago, here in the U.S. Maybe (later on) add a hex door to make it look more like a Halfling home 😄 . I seem to recall similar houses around the world about the time Eric the Red found Iceland, but memory getting hazy in my old age lol.
The classic hobbit hole
Like this
Too bad we don’t have higher pitched roof options! Those are really cool though.
If we had 60° or a proper 12/12 pitch I could, do a proper job of Dragonsreach
Don't have time To open the game rn, but by placing the roof tiles with slight angle compared to the wall, you could get a parerned roof that is steeper than 45°
Yeah, it can be done, but it doesn't look good
I sorta built the third one from below here
well, just half of it
Oooh I love this!
Those vertical core poles 🤌
oh ye this the good stuff
Seems a little more appropriate for #mods-screenshots , really related to building or anything
The angle of the shot is not very good.
Found this ai render somewhere and thought it'd be perfect for valheim. Instead of a pool i plan a smelting courtyard. If anyone else wants to attempt it, please tag me in the results
I want to know which AI made that pic...
You need to look closer to realize it was made by AI
you just need to look at any detail, like with other AI, it looks fine big, but once you look at specifics its all wrong
What parts look AI to you?
I feel like the colors coming through the rails in the foreground would be easy to trip most AI on. But all the railings are congruent with their backgrounds. I think this house is real.
wooden fence has tons of errors, roof and stone wall just looks like a low res texture pack, there's places on the walls that cant decide if its stone or wood. the wack corners on the house where the log ends stick out. illogical placements of several things, etc. the pool at the bottom not realizing it's supposed to have stopped by then, or it cant decide if the edge is raised or not
I agree that there’s a section of the wall just to the right of the central balcony that looks like a mix of wood and stone, but I think the railings are all fine.
I also see the water ripples coming all the way to the edge of the left side of the pool. However, that could legitimately be a knife-edge ledges pool. Which would explain the tiny gap running along the side of the pool (for water to flow over into).
The one thing I question is that part of the wall to the right of the balcony, and the bit of water coming out of seemingly nowhere to the left of the waterfall. Other than that, I don’t see how this couldn’t be a realistic build.
Example of a knife’s edge ledge. The water comes over the side.
the ripples go all the way to the edge, they wouldnt be that deep. and no, there's plenty of errors in or connected to the railing, but this isnt the chat for this
I’ll admit, I may be the first victim when AI takes over 😅
Also, just from a purely construction standpoint, there are alot of very odd design choices lol
And then that will reflect very poorly when you try to recreate the same mess in valheim. AI "artwork" should simply not exist to begin with; it's very lazy, can freely take from artwork, content, etc. made and posted by real people, and it has a lot of glaring flaws that people should not blindly accept, ignore, or be oblivious to. Besides that, there are plenty of amazing places that actually exist in the world that you can draw inspiration from or use as a model, that won't have these glaring issues.
The Eitr refinery is so big, I’m trying to think of a clever and cosmetic way to incorporate it into a build. Anyone have any recommendations?
I know the materials that are Eitr-proof, but I don’t want to just build a black marble box.
i have one that im using as a shed
I plan to put it in my basement along with my fermenters. (Sectioned off obviously, but still)
It is definitely some brewery stuff
I’d really like to build some sort of alchemy tower, perhaps using some mead as decoration pieces?
Oh nice, and the Eitr discharge doesn’t shoot out the top?
i was lucky enough to align it right the second time
Might make some sort of alchemy/artisan room, perhaps using some artisan tables and blue lighting?
Remind me, it is just the resulting items that do the damage, not the crafting process itself, right?
If so, maybe one could have the items fall down a hole, and have the refinery itself pretty much anywhere.
Too bad
Does it have a set origin point that could be surrounded, or is it anywhere in the station?
I haven’t played around with it too much, but I think it’s anywhere on the station, but the discharge doesn’t seem to hit the floor
Too bad the only massive trees we have are the swamp trees!
Could probably use pine trees and some fir trees though
Wish Eitr discharge didn’t damage Crystal!
So the bolts never originate from the big wooden box, but they can go through it from the other parts.
As with pretty much everything, they don't have collision with objects they start inside, so even if the station is inside a big block, the bolts can still escape through, you really need an outside wall.
I will now try to determine wether they can go downwards at all. If they can't, then putting the station up some stairs makes it fine in a room with vulnerable things.
Might be able to put on top of a stone tower?
Oh, that is almost certainly safe. Im more concerned about putting it alongside anything decorative.
Yeah, I'm pretty sure the random direction is capped to never be downward. That being said, it can be pretty much perfectly horizontal, so distance won't buy you safety.
How far can an Eitr discharge shoot?
Idk, but it's far. How far can you shoot an arrow?
I might embed mine into a wall somewhere like this. Can't go for my original vibe, but I can still probably do something.
it keeps going
Just put iron cage (and iron gate for access) in the front and you'll be safe
Wow, that is amazing and is amazing inspiration!! Thank you!
Found this 4 station Eitr refinery set-up a while ago. The 45 degree chutes are REAL finicky, but it works rather well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aNyDaQREXk

Haha I actually just watched that yesterday! Pretty cool, but no way I’m collecting that many black cores anytime soon lol
It does take a while, especially since many of the most productive core sources aren't spawning at the moment in test worlds (a fix is in the works). In the meantime you can build the structure ( if you want to that is 😄 ) and have the set up ready as you collect cores over time. You can also dig a pit, (or find a small valley) build it, and fill in the sides up to ground level if you want to get crazy about it lol.
That's why I built my Eitr refinery sarcophagus like this: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3193421058
You can see the top soft tissue loading location in the top-left of the building, at the top of the stairs, and you can get the cores/load the sap in the entry to the right.
Nice! Planning on building a whole structure dedicated to all things Eitr. Hopefully it turns out well
The refinery of course is dangerous, so that's why it's usually segregated away from everything else like I did here
My goal is to find a way to incorporate it into my base while not making it feel isolated, really like what they did here
Just gotta put my own spin on it haha
Work Work
this makes me think of a Warhammer orc camp. zug zug.
@urban bough THANK YOU!!! Been trying to remember for more than a month what game mobs said zug zug in lmao
hahahahaha
Well then you want WarCRAFT, not Warhammer.
warcraft is warhammer, at least it was supposed to be, but you're right @crystal veldt it was the game warcraft where the orcs said zug zug. I always conflate the two worlds because they're basically the same thing 🤣
fjordtours
a good builder looks for an image in the persons mind so lays the foundation in wood... aka tha plan if you have a lot of materials in survival to creative mode.. a good valheim architect designs the layout first! It elaborates from there
that is 100 percent doable and easy to do
that can be built in 30mins on creative or with all mats in survival in under an hour
Mist inspiration
angled sleeping pit for you and the boys to have late night viking pillow talk (used a free rotation mod)
Looks really good! But you might want to put that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934384643154001 instead, might confuse some people with those modded objects 🙂
corner windows for a round tower, I decided to come up with something new for myself 😸
I'm conflicted about which pattern for my black marble wall to pick. It's going to be a massive dvergr wall and I don't want to stack with 2x2x2 blocks like it traditionally uses.
Which pattern looks better for a large black marble wall;
1: 2 - 2 checkerboard
2: 2 - 2 -1
Or is there a third pattern you would recommend?
Not sure what I'm going to do with the building itself, but I like the angled windows I made
Those look nice!
Thanks! Gotta get the glass in the big ones now, then figure out what I'm gonna do overall. Not sure if I want to put a floor in up high, or what.
Hi guys 🙂 Soo this is my build for a fully automatic wolf breeder. Consistently keeps on breeding and kills them once they turn into adults at the bottom using smoke leaving the drops to pile up over time. Full build vid here: https://youtu.be/4m2E6SCvzTo
This is my Automatic Wolf Breeder which not only breeds but also kills the wolves once they turn into adults leaving only the drops.

that's just animal cruelty 👍 😢
If it wasn't a game, then yes 😌
Have you thought about combining it with an auto pig breeder so that when the piggies die the wolves can breed themselves?
I did consider that actually, problem is the leather scraps and trophy's fill up and basically flood the place 😆 Instead I'm building an auto boar farm right next to it
I recently built a Greydwarf farm. I've been very pleased with the results lol.
what if we combine greydwarf farm with a pig or wolf breeder, then theyd take each other out
Resin wood and stone for days 😎👌🏻
True, but I think they would die before turning into adults tho
You bet! Although I really just wanted the resin and eyes. The wood and stone is just a nice side bonus lol.
Sick, how'd you get him up there and into the cage exactly?
After reading too much Valheim I thought this Pinterest pin was also about valheim. Looks like you could maybe make something like it.. would have been cool if we had just chains as a buildpiece.
kinda looks like a mindf*ck tbh
Need some portal room ideas, my compound is starting to get littered with portals...
how does one build a greydwarf farm? 🤔
I'll try to post some pictures later today. But basically you find a Greydwarf nest somewhere and dig a big hole all around it, basically leaving the nest on top of a tall pillar of earth. The pillar has to be wide enough that the nest doesn't collapse but narrow enough that the greydwarves fall in the hole when they spawn. Then cover the bottom of the hole with hearths so the greydwarves burn up when they fall in.
I put stone walls around the hearths too so the greydwarves can't escape the fire.
ohhh lol
man i came to building ideas because all i can think of are Townhouses and barns 😂 i finally got a stonecutter* but when i saw the size of the hearth and that it wouldn't fit in my townhouse chimneys i might have to redo them all again 😂 😭
including the spiral staircase i made out of wooden beams 😭
Don't use hearths they cost fuel to run and can get damaged and broken to easy, use puffers on item stands
I did a huge circle open concept with an oak tree growing through the center.
making a blacksmithing building. which one looks better? raised or lowered foundation?
Lowered 😁
Didn't know about the puffer fish. I'll have to try that.
I like this man's idea, a whole fantasy world could be built in Valheim, provided that people participate a lot and mechanisms are added to the game at the official level, whole working cities, adventurers, battles for land and simple joys, a carefree farmer of first-class pigs
finally picked up a secopnd golumn trophy for my front door
this is rad and perfectly suited for construction in valheim
I thought we learned our lesson about these sort of click-bate posts
what do you mean? it's just an image, yeah?
Hi everyone, can someone help me with walls? I don't know how to make my building less flat... Watched some youtube vids, but idk how too much beams will affect perfomance
This is what i think, will this work as wall?
This idea looks good for me, but walls...
I’ve never used wooden beams quite like that. I usually use them to accent my walls. Could try incorporating some horizontal core beams to make some walls to mix it up?
#building-screenshots message
Here’s an example of what I mean.
Also, you could try flipping your walls so the ‘bracing’ faces outside instead of inside. If that makes sense?
^ In my experince, it has little to no effect on performance 🙂
nah, not like that... this entire building has great idea and shape, but i miss depth so much, flipping won't help. But i like the idea about logs
Ahh gotcha. There’s a YouTuber called Smitty, he has some good videos on adding depth to wood walls that I really like.
HMMMMM
Could use some stone walls as a foundation? Also, this is a small detail, but maybe use your cultivator to replant grass on the dirt spots. Goes a long way for detailing!
That looks great!
Too ugly inside 🙃
Oh, and you’ll a lot more options later in the game ||when you find tar||
Hmm yeah, that does look a bit odd.
We're a bit crazy, so we got some plains stuff like before elder... and we rushed elder + some dungeons ONLY for stionecutter :D
so tar yes, BUT, farming tar is painful even at late game
Oh nice! Yeah it can be rough sometimes, but it’s worth it imo
I think i will spend some time watching others build to find some inspiration, thanks :)
Always a good idea! Yeah np, look forward to see how it turns out 👍
Didn't watched any, but your idea about stone looks awesome i think!
Also it makes nice sill inside! And perfect place for oven! omg
You can also hide the core wood behind a second layer of walls.
It's not finished yet, but i think we found depth we need :)
First time i have this cozy feeling in my house omg :)
I've seen a couple builds where people spawn floating rocks way up in the sky. I want to do something like that but I was wondering if you can add natural dirt on top of the rocks? I'm not home to test but I was wondering if anyone knows if it's possible? My gut feeling is that it's not possible since there isn't any existing dirt to build up/add onto but wasn't sure
I dont think so, because the ground "data" is a world grid. You'd have to raise the actual ground up to your base for natural dirt to grow things. There might be a mod for decor (non functioning) though
That makes sense, I expected it might not be possible unfortunately. I'll look around for mods that might help create what I'm going for. My idea was to have little islands floating in the air and to have an island themed after each biome. Meadow island with beech trees, Black Forest island with fir trees, etc
That would be amazing
If you find a little trifecta corner where three biomes touch maybe you can get away with doing that with high plateaus!!
And bridges between them sound cool :3
I found an iceland with swamp/forest/plains with hildir on top of it in one place. Pretty good for farming, taming, mostly everything
i wish water physics were better because i really want to do an island build but i dont want things flooding all the time
word, I learned that the hard way when a storm hit. The waves will knock it out. You gotta raise your island up first
Not sure if this is the place to post this, but I've been working on a Winterfell inspired castle (from GoT) in survival, but I'm kinda out of ideas after spending forever gathering all the stone. It's also in a really random area far away from my main base so I'm also kind of considering just donating the stone to my future ||ashlands|| base but idk. If anyone has ideas please let me know ! Also that rectangle is a chuch I started and i dont really know what the big circular tower was going to be lol.
Plant an oak tree to serve as the heart tree
I have that to the left already ! Sorry forgot to include a screenshot but that was the only area that didnt need much work since its one of the most recognizable parts; just havn't filled in the top of the walls yet for the wyrwood garden
it also looks really good in spring with the seasonality mod, but dont have screenshots of that
how about adding sharp stakes around the castle like they had in that battle with the White Walkers?
not a bad idea, good practical use since I learned about the "you get the chills..." raid here the hard way
not identical to the picture but I like it, great idea!
Here is my try of Island base/dockhouse with huge bay window
The bay window is so cool! 🤩
Thank you, this window works great with every weather and waves you can just sit there and enjoy this beautifull game
@primal cosmos I want to do something similar around the stone on the plains 😼
More black marble, and accentuate the contrast with stone and wood🙀
And you don't have to bother with his back, he will seem to protrude from the stone 😼
Consider the functionality of the build. Is it purely aesthetics you're going for or is this a base that you will use?
Even if you won't use it permanently, think about the "people" living there and their roles. So a simple blacksmith, stables, archery range. Just the little details to allow creativity to flow.
Great structure for sure. But consider working in layers as well to add finer details. Banners to have a house color etc.
Starting with a small section of your wall and adding detail that can be replicated around the whole build is a great way to start flowing with it!
The circular tower.. got to be the keep. You've got a really good foundation to be able to start killing that frame rate with more instances!
Sup guys anyone has an idea on what bridge I should make in my base? I have every material possible so I can make anything. I'm thinking of a stone bridge.
Have you tried a keyhole stone bridge?
What's that?
That was a little harder than I thought 🙂
That is epic. How long did it take?
20 hours maybe. I don't know, time doesn't really exist in Valheim, right? Inside it's just empty rooms, bottom 2 are stone floors and top 2 wood floors. we're sleeping in the right wing and we cut the attic ceiling out to make it one big spacy bedroom with room for massive trophies.
challenge accepted!
if someone is looking for ideas - try https://www.architecturaldesigns.com/ they sell building plans for wood houses, but you can preview them online. The previews often come with floor plan. a few pictures are good enough for Valheim builds - we have an entire city out of their designs, and they are quite pretty and fun.
Thank you for that link, very interesting!
Anyone have pictures of stone platforms, arches, ruins, etc they could share with me for inspiration? I want to make a circular portal hub inspired by ancient greek/roman architecture but am having trouble nailing a style that I've really enjoyed yet
edit - or even a more natural stonehenge inspired platform would look nice too I think
Awesome, ty!
What a legend you are
I agree...this website can be a great inspiration, even if in Valheim final building looks a bit different, who cares 😅😂 Example on pictures taken over a year ago (at least I can post them again)
Bobenass Altar turned into Druid's Tower
Now that's amazing. I always see good buildings in this discord
Roofs like that would be painfull to make.
whats your point? if builders dont do the painful stuff, noone will. right?
Painfull was optimism bordering on euphemism here. The harsher reality is that I don't believe the shape is possible to fully realize. At least not with a reasonable number of instances.
I've been repeatedly surprised by what is possible in this game, but sometimes the mark of a good builder is realizing the limitations, and pivoting to an idea, which while not the original plan, ends up better once acctually put in the game.
Ashlands?
let me fix it
🧐
That's something to be shared in the valheim-public-test channel.
If you don't have access to it head to the Channels & Roles channel (top of server list) and click the box which says "I want to be a public tester".
I thought about that as well but there were no building ideas for public test. Thought that saying "ashland" with spoilers on top would do. Just wanted my message to reach to the builders.
going to do as you say in future
does anyone have a open base with like marketplace in the middle, everything inside walls kinda like base? I'm trying to build a base like that, but gonna need some inspiration
how did you screenshot this with no ui?
Ctrl f3 (iirc) hides the ui on screen
My favorite build, your tree base is wonderful 💯🤌
This is mine 😇
i should be ok on iron for a couple days, maybe...
Here is a video about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H40lWRQ2Uks&t=222s
In this video I want to show you BONEMASS ALTAR - every altar had been conquered and rebuilded
Bonemass ALTAR area had been turned into Great Druid's Tower
Tower had beed designed witch many suspended tree houses
Every house is conected with exception of highest rooms where you can only acces by teleport
Druid tower is real stronghold equip...
Anyone have a design for a starting house with room for more necessities later on?
I'm considering a build that mixes black marble and gray stone. Any suggestions or ideas for mixing the two? Looking for some inspiration
chess fkoors
Ooh that'd be a good idea for a great hall area. Any suggestions for the exterior design?
well......i started with a chessboard, turned it into a temple, now is a port
Hiiii just got back to valheim in a while, i was wondering if anyone have any ideas to decorate my new base
The idea is a Giant Boat that is on construction, i'm planning on having like support beams on the sides, maybe a type of crane out of wood, and having materials laying around.
I am jealous of the circle work, I flip a desk after trying to snap it perfectly and just square everthing off lol. Any secret to it you can share?
The way I normally do it is just rotating each piece like one degree each time (idk how to describe it like just scroll wheel once to turn it the shortest increment) and then either use auto, top1, or top2 until I find one that clips the inside edges together. I’m realizing while writing this that it’s kind of hard to explain lol
What I will say is that even understanding what I need to do, it can still be a bit finicky sometimes and everyone once and a while I’ll realize that one of the bottom pieces didn’t snap properly which means everything above is slightly misaligned🥲
I might be a bit late, but that would look good upside down, as if the beams were the roof section, you would have to build some framing, maybe core wood if it is about the same size, then layer thatch over the outside, and leave the beams on the underside exposed, maybe a large forge area? I dunno, just throwing that out there, looks good either way.
cute idea 🙂
I thoought of something similar mid way ajajajja but i might use it for the furnaces thats a good idea for the whole area and not just my house, thank you.
thats cool 😄
If anyone likes to do "modern" style builds, I made myself a TV...
Used this on a sign: <size=60>▅
What do i add to this bee farm
Guys, ¿How can i make a second floor in this situation? Is a rounhouse. Idk if it would be better to use iron beams, if there is a better pattern of how to put the logs...
If yall can help me with this
This is a problem to. Its to close and i get stuck
What would you build here? (It's the tallest mountain I ever seen in this game)
I'd raise/flatten the ground instead of wood (keep the fences and stairs tho) and then you can cultivate the area around with flowers
raise the ground, plant a pine tree, and build the tallest tower you can around it 🙂
A pine tree would give me a solid foundation for a very tall tower. The whole Western face of the mountain is a cliff all the way down to the ocean. It's gonna look sick seen from the bottom!
yeah, I call that particular mountain "moder mountain" -- I don't think you can even see the top anywhere close to the bottom
So I could use some help...
I'm trying to figure out what the most functional setup is for a tower layout. I've currently got a wizards tower of sorts with several layers:
attic (wood) - spare beds for guests
storage (wood) - long term chests of bulk junk, extra crafting tables for building maintenance
magic (stone) - portals, magic table, exterior balcony for wisps
comfort (stone) - hot tub, bed, rugs, etc.
kitchen/workshop (surface level) - main entrance, crafting tables, chests
forge (underground) - kilns, furnaces, artisan tables, refinery
is there perhaps a better / more efficient general layout? the portal room often seems too inconvenient for quick forays and drop offs, I hardly ever go into the comfort room directly, but it saves me a lot of space in the adjacent floors where I still get the bonuses. The long term storage is kinda far away, but also ideally it's for stuff I'm not using all that often, as the workshop contains the bulk of day to day items
I've thought about moving the portal room to someplace outside, where I'd have a bit more freedom and space to place things, but thematically it kinda fits with the magic table and I'm not sure what else I'd put in that room
What I would do in your situation is cheat a little on the space.
I would make my main portal hub in a separate location completely (think of it like an alternate dimension) My favorite location for a portal hub is a platform above the mistlands, you can use one of the tall rock for that. Another location I like is around the main spawn. Often the one thing that take THE MOST space in a base is the portal hub, you would be impressed how much room you will save by moving just this out of the tower. It will make everything much easier to decorate and distribute around after.
Also, In a tower, I would make my main storage somewhere in the middle of the tower instead of bottom or top, to make it more accessible from everywhere and that way you can put the room in which you use said resources right next to it (example, forge below, kitchen above) and put your resting place higher up the tower so you can enjoy the view.
space isn't so much of an issue as I'm using a bit of a trick where I've got signposts next to the portals with a list of destinations that should be used for it -- eg. one portal will be used for all the bosses, I've got another portal that goes to the latest iron rich area, surtling farm, mist farm, plains farm, etc. another portal that goes to the starting location, hildr, trader -- and so with that I don't need all my portals active at the same time, and can save quite a lot of resources on the hub.
but yeah, maybe I can do something to move the kitchen/workshop upwards.
Ah! If you are using the Multi-Portal trick then I would put my portal landing in my tower directly in the storage room at the very bottom of the tower. That way you could empty all your stuff as you get home, no running around everywhere and then you can grab what you need for your crafting and cooking and prepare everything as you climb the tower ending with the bedroom at the top with also a portal in this room, this one connecting to the very bottom of the tower so you don't have to run down the long stairwell every morning (worth it if your tower is very tall)
It's closer to the layout you already have but sometime, just changing how you use a tool can make it a better one. 😉
Hey can some one give me a good idea on what to do up here or what to do up her
does anyone have any ideas how i could build the top of this tower?
i am at the stone height limit so i cant use that
Corewood structure, maybe use some iron wood and get a bonfire in the center as a nice touch?
was thinking that but i dont think bonfires can be placed on wood
If you use some iron wood cross members it can be placed on those. Or some stone pieces on those.
Hey guys, I saw some insanely well made buildings here, I wonder how you guys figure out if your roof is going to line up nicely. is there any helpful tech behind it?
my buildings always look bland cuz I end up doing 16x16 so the roof matches for example 😦
Have you found a Draugr village before? The main buildings there are a great built-in tutorial on how to make complicated roof lines and structures. At the end of the day a lot of it is just clever use of the i- and o-corner pieces. Circular roofing is a different ball of wax 😉
I have, but most of those are pretty small scaled and simple equal sized roof pieces that would naturally line up
The footprint of every roof piece is the same, 2mx2m. For each horizontal layer you need to use the same slope pieces in general, and you can start patchworking it together from there. Maybe find a picture from a build here you like and try to replicate it?
Sounds logical, ill play around with it a bit
Even floor is one step, building a roof overhang using wooden beams is another but honestly learning to cover/hide the gaps is what I found worked best (I like the mess around and find out method myself, my builds take a long time and tend to be iterations) and learning to layer pieces (adds depth, patterns/designs and helps hide gaps) is what has helped me so far!
The other thing that can really help is figuring out how to make an eave. Just having a proper overhanging eave can make a very plain roof look 10x better.
Its been a long time since I last played, being used to having nicer materials from the plains / mistlands and now just having access to the basic thatch 😄
I know that feeling! I actually found it was a good challenge in the end, I find the wood pieces to be some of the most versatile and starting from scratch kinda forced me to try new things for variety... But it did also give me a great reason to progress - it only takes one thought of 'wow a wolf rug would look great here...' to stick in my brain...
The gods want me to slay the forsaken because it is what is right and good... But they seem to have got the weird viking that sketches endlessly in the mud with coal and slays the forsaken for the ✨aesthetics✨ 🫡😅
Yeah my brain works similarly, but worse too..
Knowing what building stuff is available, makes me not want to build anything with the worse looking materials 😄
need a blueprint for a long low bridge, stone & wood, not to complicated, but rounded.
must bridge this, double lane.
part of a cartway road system
Anyone got recommendations for a BIG storage build?
@lost spruceif you want build a Longhowse
Hey guys hope you all doing good, after a few requests for a longhouse build In Valheim I decided to get one done, and this is what I came up with :)
VALHEIM : A brutal exploration and survival game for 1-10 players, set in a procedurally-generated purgatory inspired by Viking culture. Battle, build, and conquer your way to a saga worthy of Odi...
this was my house on one server its veri big and you can use as you please
P.S. i also build a besment under nith 😄
looking for some ideas for the top of this bridge. Either as a railing/roof design, or potentially even adding a second floor with liveable/work space. Might widen the bridge in by another 2 meters in that case. Anybody have any suggestions or ideas?
a boat ramp
OMG Yes! I had completely forgot about those. haha
Guys can yall help to make a rainproof roof for this build. Idk how can i make a good looking roof for this
Really the only thing I could think of is making this a giant pyramid if you wanted it to look good
Might take some restructuring of the existing roofing to make a better unified overall structure. Having roofs inside like that is massively limiting.
If I were to recommend anything I'd make the stairs smoother on the bottom and add more pillars (like wood) to add a little more depth around the build
My advice would. Be to start simple and then add the more complex rooflines once the original base roof is up.. for example you can make your rectangular build, or whatever shape you're picturing for your building. Once it's up, you can take some wood beams and snap to the edge of the roof in the design you want, and snap inward towards the main roof from there. At this point it should be obvious where your I and o corners need to connect. Plus the base roof will give you a place to stand while you work on making it look nice
For example, you can see the original roofline in the back was just a few simple rectangles. I then snapped the wood beams to the outer edge of the roof to make some detail, and snapped the roof pieces inward towards the center from that framework
Round roofs are a little harder to pull off. Hexagonal builds are easier to roof than the round ones
Yeah I've worked it out
Nice dude, looks great. I like the landscaping work, it looks smooth
Thanks! only got it to look nice disabling the grass in register editor though 😄
Without mods or another cheats, you can't build true round too.
For precise (?) round buildings needs to find specific pattern, that be different with different types of roofs. It hard, but possible. With low roofs it's easier than with 45° roofs.
''other cheats''
If you enjoy putting 300 support beams up for a structure by all means
Beams are usually not needed if radius less than 6-8 metres with 2 high floors.
And I did with beams too. I did round houses and towers more than 3-4 times, I don't remember exactly.
With cheats and mods, of course, anyone can build anything what they want.
Just thought it was a bit weird to call mods ''cheats'' but I see youre phrasing it differently now,
Just because you dont like running them; doesnt mean you have to downplay others is all.
I play only vanilla. I don't force anyone to do that, just talk how it works in vanilla.
The concept of cheating, be it in a competition, a game, a relationship, or honestly anything where the term is used, simply refers to unfairly deviating from an assumed or agreed upon set of restrictions.
This is to say, what is and isn't cheating is entirely context dependent, and for the context of Valheim builds, only really applies when comparing yourself to others. When doing so, you are reasonably cheating as soon as you utilize a wider toolset than the other person. Mods definitely count for that.
This is not to say utilizing a wider toolset is universally bad. Most tools only raise the skill ceiling. However, they should also raise ones standards. If you use mods, but the result is only as good as could be expected from vanilla, you're not very good at what you do.
bro just discovered what "subjective" means
Context dependent and subjective are different. Cheating can be quite objective.
Or at least as objective as anything else. Look into anything in enough detail and it becomes subjective, because all terminology originates from subjective experience, but by then the word has lost all meaning.

Anyone got some crazy over the top storage ideas? Looking for bank / vault type of theme. Planning on building on an island or in the mountains.
depends on what storage crates you wanna use
Im thinking black metal and big since I’m running out of room in my current area. Wanting to dedicate and entire build to a storage location. I’m picturing lots of crates with a jewel / gold room
i mean that would look amazing are you using it for a hardcore or just going for a massive storage area thats very eye pleasing in build mode
Just normal play mode. They always take me a very long time to build due to collecting all the resources myself but I like making very eye pleasing structures
You could do a combination of like, Gringott's vaults from harry potter, and the Undercity from World of Warcraft
this is some fan art, but yeah something like this, with vaults along the side.
Someome got any good Lox Building? Lox cant breed down a roof so
anyone know how to build a circular roof?
circular roofs are difficult, but the best way I'd say is to place the wooden beams in a circle just to get your outline then place roofs on top, you might have to place a "square" roof ontop, but just having the bottom roofs circular can look nicer
You could try using a circle of wooden beams as the very peak of the roof, and just hide a square roof under it to prevent water leakage
let me test it
neat, thanks!
I normally do 3 warehouses with 32 bm chests each
try digging a hole. That's how I used to breed them
I mean. A build, like a stable or some fence style
no amount of stone will contain a lox that isnt alreay tamed, but I have seen some wacky pens for the tamed ones before
yeah, but even if tamed and there is an enemy around they go crazy and they smash 😅
double wall. place the outer wall far enough from the inner wall to prevent a enemy from angering them. or make it out of terrain/dirt.
I use terrain, build a dirt wall around them, place decor above / around that
as has been said you cant really build an enclosure cause even if theyre tamed they can get agitated and run around attacking things anyway, you need something indestructible for reliability. I raised terrain wide enough to make a fake "pit" for loxes, put a floor on the top of the terrain. can do it colloseum style just leave room either side of the pit for double wooden gates.
book shelf
Any idea to what items put in that?
Bottles and potions. Like alchemy or apothecary shelves.
Its placed in my bedroom, forgot to especify that, but is a good idea tho
Your cognac/boose stash? Books would also work if you are using/plan to use mods. Your miniature(s) collection? Gata put your Gundam🤖 and Sailermoon🦸♀️ statues on display.
A place to showcase your dagger set?
Not planning on use mods
I do not got any knives or dagger in my entire gameplay XDDD
somebody already tried statue building with the new stone pieces? guess u can be creative with those small stone pieces. there are just tons of wood statues but hoping for some new ideas
got it
tables as false floors as a building concept. I think it'll look good in my new kitchen.
Benches can make for a louvered appearance, best used with stone due to width.
Looks awesome! I might try that
really happy with the way this chandelier came out
swimming pool
Currently trying to find a nice way to use grausten in a roman style build but the lack of smaller walls and 26 roof are making it tough. Got a neat little inner pool thing though, ashlands has some really big, flat beaches sometimes, easy to get water features. And it doesnt cook you as fast when its shallow, which is cool
A lot of experimenting and still very unfinished but im liking this little interior pond. just gotta figure out actual size and layout and stuff
marble and grausten go super well together. and both woods are great accents
it looks fantastic
thanks!
Overhead shot
only one section has wood beams going between the pillars cus i was experimenting and forgot about them. idk what im doing with that yet
you've definitely captured that Roman style you were aiming for
goes looking for her toga
looking forward to seeing more 🙂
Thanks, ill post more later for sure, once i fully get my bearings with this style. It always takes me a while to get used to new pieces and styles. I might record and/or stream the process later
soneone asked for ideas for a grave because a raid wiped out there tames. this is what I thought of.
That's lovely 😍
a simple window idea
I looking to build a plains base with up to 4 players and max comforts, max level workstations, max level kitchen, and decemt storage base and I prefer having the base to be stone floors any ideas?
INSPIRATIONAL, as in try tobuild similar stuff in VHA
i posted some of them before, some are new
I just discovered that you can use one end of the stonecutter table for a cool pillar support look
Anyone got any vineyard type builds yet for the new berries ?
Hello I want to ask for suggestions for ideas for a huge base that can fit up to four players with max level comfort, max level kitchen, max level workstations I am working on a project to build the endgame base at the Plains before fighting the boss
The idea was a creating a mediterranian house on a hill, with a vineyard, you be the judge how it turned out. (lightly modded for some bushes and stuff)
Looks good! Much better than what I was coming up with. I just ended up building something fast to get the berries growing
I need something to base my base off of got any ideas?
- Tudor?
- Tree house?
- Fortified?
4.Impossible Fantasy? Though clearly possible, but resource heavy to pull off. - Cozy Homestead?
Start with either an idea, or a location, and try to let the build tell you what it wants, and where things need to go. It's a struggle, but it can make for some beautiful builds.
Something like 3
Plains and im building a coastal area
anybody have watchtower build designs / layouts they like?
Getting somewhere with the villa. Left side here where a shop would go is gonna be a smithy themed like a shop.
Using a mod for building otherwise unbuildable pieces, the shelves, solo lanterns, crates, as well as unrestricted item stands. Otherwise all vanilla.
This front area is gonna be the "store", with some materials and weapons on display, might fit some armor in somewhere. I think im gonna put the big forge in the back, that'll be the special goods.
Still planning layout and design for the interior, but the basic idea for the atrium and tablinium im happy with, just uncertain on final execution. the side opposite the smithy will be the artisan workshop, with the workbench and artisan table. further in behind the table room will be kitchen and likely bedrooms
In the center of the atrium is the impluvium, which is meant as a little pool that gathers rainwater for various purposes as well as cooling the room when it gets hot, so the fact the water is literally boiling is a little ironic. The atrium is also an important meeting place, so i've included a little sitting area and an altar to the emerald flame, for flavor
(the pots are spare guck for the torch of course)
the design from the other day remains in the background there along with other test designs i made before, so i have some old ideas for reference
im not sure if im gonna leave the atrium open or use pillars, but i'll likely do pillars in a similar fashion to the old design. idk if this area will have a second story, if it does itll probably be a kind of museum and lounge area
also want to add, this is on a massive flat area i found completely at random. i havent seen this happen since, but this area is a huge beach type area, water pokes through at certain spots, the entire spot is incredibly flat so ive used it as my testing area.
the seed is HC9c7WgkZz and its at 2060 -9200 if anyone wants to check it out
anyone else working with the command console but still remaining vanilla(unmodified files)?
Thats what i usually do, but i get a lot more use out of item stands with the mod that lets you put everything on them, and there are certain pieces that you can spawn normally but cant really place properly without a mod. So i use vanilla pieces but just mods to place them. I really want a good couch though so im very close tryna snag a mod for hildir’s divan cus i cant find an id for it
ayo looking for some input. Been hatching on a build idea for a while but been waiting for ashlands to do it, wanna build a super large tower. gonna use mainly black marble and end result will look similar to the tower of orthanc from lotr. however curious on input as to if I should build the tower on land or in the ocean, one thing to note is I will be using commands to spawn a stone spire for extra structure support so I can build a taller tower overall
which one would you guys Pick just out of Curiousity not sure myself
first one !
Gracias. would you have This Or have it filled in like the first one aswell ?
what's it meant to be?
Just a town hall
either have it so the green/roof is filled in or all of it. i like all of it filled in but try with just the roof
wait now it looks flay
i prefer it without it filled in i think but idk how to base would look filled in
i can probably keep you updated on the style. Dont have stone blocks or alot of different types of blocks kinda started on this new world as of my other one got corrupted when i tried to post it to my Dedicated server
oh please do ! im so fansinated by building in this game
Not really a smoll Build considering how early i am. Havent even got alot to use "Pre forge gameplay" Expensive House but its gon be lovely
spent my first Hours Flattening the place with a friend
Might be the most ugliest Base iv ever seen
LMAO
but boooy is it Sturdy
fill it all in itll be rlly pretty
You could use core wood pillars inside to hold it up
Man dont have that thing yet
You can get core wood easy in the early game, certain meadows camps have a little but you could easily sneak some out of a black forest
as iv already Use this all around almost is there an easy way to fix it without tearing 2 Hours of work almost
If its only in a specific area you could raise the ground there a little, then level it so its hidden but still high enough to boost support
you should be able to add corewood poles after the fact
great sir continue your magic tale of this Unfuckery of whats been fucked
i'd start with adding vertical poles at the corners, then see if horizontal bracing is required .. depending on the height of the building simply reinforcing the bottom level might be enough to support the roof. If that's not enough, then I'd continue adding poles to the second level. It's possible you may need to add central poles as well.
Please do continue telling me but i just Lowered the part where it got ruined and Just rechaped it
looks good!
would be a Pain fixing the Weather dmg on this tho xD
since its gonna be a Giant open hall. thinking instead of town hall might add my smithing area in there. No 2nd room is ever needed above but ill get corewood befor that happends
i dont get it iv upgraded everything to Corewood... its still
only thing i havent done is the bottom under the floor iv even Upgraded with Pillars inside
the corewood must be grounded .. as in touching ground, for it to have max stability .. it will be blue if you've placed it correctly. The under floor support is the most important.
@frank robinany tips in building in water? and trying to flatten a water area out ?
i don't do much of that myself .. my advice would be to look on youtube .. things like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gXB5l9N0uwU&list=WL&index=5
In this video, I show you how to build an impressive dock with every material in Valheim. I cover building over water with wood, stone, black marble, and grausten components, and give you tips that I have learned over my hundreds of hours building.

Phinqs i saw one of his other videos but his stuff is Quite advanced for my style for now but Ideas are always welcome, Thanks
the principles will be basically the same, regardless of what stage you're at .. adequate grounded support, raising ground, using large coastal rocks for support, etc.
and Using carts... damn thats So exploity
its creative genius lol
building in water is such a pain (which is why i dont do much)
i searched "valheim water building" on youtube and got a ton of interesting results
i usually dont search up youtube videos can be quite demotivating alot of the times xd
i just take the bits that are useful to me, and ignore the fact that i'll never be as good at building as some people 😄
i did something for myself xD not the same as Phinq's Skills
Currently the "House" Just from one of his Videos with a small editing
Just wondering if theres anything i can add to these as im still new are there any Mistakes im doing that i could be avoiding by the looks of it ?
Since you have iron gates(metal door), you also likely have lighting options. A sconce on each side of the door to show where the front is at night would be nice. When you get into the mistlands, the lanterns can replace the sconce. Another option would be the braziers (the hanging type or on ground like what you have inside). The hanging ones could be put on each outer roof corner where it overhang the building.
iron door was Just a something that was Cheated in for having people on server but they could open it so i dont have anything Past Bronze atm
Sconce I believe is bronze. Standing torches would also work ok in the meantime.
after starting 3 worlds in less then 3 days one starts to Give Lil about spawning in a thing or two just to make things Look nice
oooh iv been looking for Braziers as they are cool
Sconce from wiki: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Sconce?so=search
Hanging braziers:
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Hanging_brazier?so=search
They both need a forge and bronze (made by copper and tin).
If you don't have a room with your old armor(s) and weapon(s) on display, this area might work.
im actually doing another a build for it
Storage
Set up a table with a little dinner on it using item stands and foods. I would recommend making a honey glazed chicken, onion soup, and a couple other things. Maybe add a tankard or mead to make a drink. Some people even double the item stands, adding a plain wooden shield, or even painted, then the food to create a platter for the food😁
Ok i will def do that
idea for spiral stone stairs
i noticed yesterday when building a basement for my House. IT was legit crumbeling because lack of support its a stone room probably 10x10 Theres No support as of right now the high is probably 7 high...
I started Building Iron bars all around the Room it ended up being GREEN all over the room why is this ?
Iron bars have better support than whatever you were building with before.
but this big of a Room with Nothing in it it can support? i think thats wierd
Weird but works though.
kinda would like to Know the Logic behind it cause im trying out different building methods as im Brand new ot building and th same Just 100H ish
Maybe this will help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hF_J_DBs4vg
There are other videos out there as well.

Just finished my Lighthouse and Dock, man it was a headache
I usually go from stone to wood, and then use iron beams to build a high roof
For a real world example, look up rebar concrete reinforcement. I think this is loosely based on that.
I am about o build a spawn area for a stream server and I need a seed with a goot flat area around the spawn, and I know we have a seed channel but there are only over view map pictures on it, not ingame pics
Another villa update. more atrium, peristyle garden, triclinium bar area. still very WIP but its looking good imo
All I make it’s with official rules few thousand hours on this game with all normal settings for information and it’s some creation I just begin to build after 10 days inside Ashland
what can i make of this next
a display of some sort
i did a bigger one xd #building-screenshots message

how the hell do you build with the grausten roof?
Ty☺️
For my part a manor with Gothic arch 2 stage with a garden on a multiple biome on same land. Snow plains and classic forest actually is just a training after I do try a gothic castle and a cathedral too 😅but in new few hours for these it’s slow to progress actually with 7500 grausten i have only the manor and the bareer and I do finish all detal on my build (cover the foundation create some decorative arch build some window ☺️)
Make an iron bar line going through the top of the roof (you can then cover it with either small horizontal column pieces, or wood to fill the gap). That’s enough to hold the grausten roof. The one on the image above is 3.5 roof segments each side.
Grausten columns are perfect to hide the iron bars in the center of them. Especially larger ones.
yea i found that out, just missing an damn 1x1, 1x2 or an 1x3 in either grausten or marble.. idk why thei diddent think about that.. annoyed noices
I have the hardest time deciding how exactly I'm going to build my base. Things like layout, size, decorations, et cetera. Can you suggest any video guides for a Plains base? Big and fancy is fine, I like putting things together as long as I have some end goal in mind.
check #building-screenshots : P
That doesn't help much. I need more step-by-step instructions, or at least detailed inside/outside views.
I guess I just have near zero creativity.
Look on YouTube if you “need” step by step instructions. But I just find myself doing trial and error until I like what I’ve done.
Versaugh Zeroster and others have whole playlists of build guides for valheim up on YT. Just search “valheim build guide”
Not the most complicated designs but very practical ones. https://www.youtube.com/@CrateOfBananas
I'm building a portal hub and have this flat wall, how should I decorate it?
banners are a crowd favorite
you could also mount a sword/shield on an item stand if you have the resources and were going for that
or just some glowing mushrooms for a more ethereal look
Those look great, thanks a lot!
Windows
There can be no windows. It's a portal hub, its literally just portals, one after another.
you can rebuild it anyway, i did it with 3 of my building
Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do with this?
i see nothing wrong with it
I mean like what functions I could add to it, what I could do with the dirt ground or in the villa
hmm you could trie paving it and experiment with inlays
trie to smooth out theese parts. make them "solid"
maybe a lox cage?
They should add a build integrity slider to the world mods menu
Nah
first time building what do you guys think i could do for the roof, id like to keep the shape
For your first time building Id reccomend doing the smaller angeled (< 45 degrees, forgot the name), especially for a base of that size,
If you were doing a taller or more compact build then the 45 degree roofs would be the way to go 🙂
you can combine high and low roofs to create kind of a rounded look
Hello everyone!
My friends and I started to play Valheim and I'm looking for some inspiration to build.
Could you guys send me some cool designs for taverns/ inn's?
welcome to the game. best tip is either scroll in these txt channels or look on youtube,
The new spikes around the outside walls maybe?
my new front door is coming along nicely
anyone has some idea how to fill the gap? it looks awkward
It would depend on what your intent for that area is. Also, I would hazzard a guess that some of that stuff was spawned in using devcommands, because it's not material I see typically.
It could be a shrine/trophy display, could be turned into a fireplace...it's all dependent on what the space is supposed to be for.

Oh that's an elevator mod by blackstar
Ah, in that case, if you were asking what to add there to make a functional elevator, you might Wana try in the mods chats sections.

oh the elevator is functional, its just bare and boring so I want input on how I could decorate the area around it
might just add barrels or boxes
If the area is storage, (functional) chests and (esthetic) barrels and crates from carts might be good. Also, depending on what you are storing, you could make gold stacks/piles and the gem/jewelry chest.
Oh wait I can see it, that would look so good thank you
Welcome, and GL in your decorating quest.
Hey Vikings ✌️
i need some inspirations for a little cozy chicken coop.
If anyone has some ideas I would be really grateful 😄
A beam on the ground where you attach stairs to on each side can be used to let the chickens go in and out of their coop so you could have free roam chickens.
Iron cage walls and floors can be used as chicken wire, so the free roam chickens are protected even if they are "outside"
A bit more info about what you want would be nice.
Is it just to have chickens running around, breeding them or them providing eggs or a mix of breeding and eggs?
If breeding and / or eggs, how many chickens do you need it to hold?
Will you be feeding them? If so, from outside or do you not mind going in to feed them?
Do they need to be protected from raids or not?
a small 2x2 ashwood box with 45 angle roof pieces, also using the new ashwood curved piece to make an arch for entry/exit?
I've taken to placing piles of rocks a meter away from my chickens to keep things away
it leads to an outside area too but i love using the straw pile in little stalls and it looks like a real chicken coop!
How u did this ?
which part? it's a 3x4 structure, where the window is I have a fire outside and the proximity is close enough to warm the eggs. the other side is just an open door going into an enclosed pen (half walls work) whatever size you want
Straw is from the plains, barley and flax.
A very simple asksvin breeder (basically just black marble plinths with a 1m wide gap in the middle, everything snaps easily, no finicky placements or trouble getting them to eat).
why didnt they include grausten roof pieces to create outer edges?
throw that idea into #suggestions 🙂
I think they "halved" them, like you need two pieces to make either i- or o-shape (iirc)
I just didn't get why there are only 45º roofs
log cabin
'lo i dont like my actual "tower" in the corner, any idea of what i could do ? (vanilla)
I ran it through AI, seems more feasible now. You just need to spam lanterns everywhere
i will make this happen. i will, it is my destiny. just you wait
u can dm me if you want to see the finished product later
i have found this house on zillow with all the pictures ill need to re create it, thank you for the isnpitation!
Round about for my new grausten house simply but work very well my girl was create these on my server and look nice I have send for offer some ideas
Asksvin house for breed 2star inside 1 star outside
Work in progress for the manor 20 day we work on these with settings official no mods and vanilla it’s take a very long time but like grausten 😌
New tower medieval style
New garden place work in progress again we try some stuff actually
WIP access portal to portal hub room
the outer ring feels a bit too square-ish, but couldnt do it better
How do you get the dragon adornment to point up like this? For me it's only pointing straight out
likely a rotation mod
I have a world in Normal mode/ Very easy death penalty and he got like 550 days, and I really want to play more time in it, is there any construction or anything really crazy that you do in your worlds?
right now im recreating a real life house, you could also play around and see what kind of statues you can make. one thhing i realy like is finding clusters of rocks in the black forest and digging into them and making cave houses
Currently building a huge black marble fortress under and on a far out elder altar near the north of the map.
I have several projects aside from that though, pretty much whenever i find a spot i think would be cool to build in i mark it until inspiration strikes
Can everyone send me their favorite roof lol
Having some trouble breaking away from like three go to looks
how does this look from the sides?
what's the song of the organe ?
(Ashland) What sort of doorway might fit over this structure? None of the buildable pieces seem to fit nicely there (I got pets i want to ride in and out and needing a hammer to go in and out is becoming a drag)
The widest door is the wood gate or the hexagonal gate. All others are to small to allow lox through and might cause issues for Ask(s).
It’s the side not the face ☺️
There's a tutorial video on YouTube that somebody made where they turned a fortress into a base and they set things up so that the flametal doors would perfectly cover the entrance.
It all depends on how carefully you knocked on the front door initially.
I’d love to make a museum, have all armours hung up from each biom and all troop trophies and a big room or floor for each biom
Has anyone made a portal hub using the stone portals?
I just made one using them
it would be interesting to see ..post screenshot please?
still a WIP, but you get the idea
People are so creative I want to open your heads and see where these ideas comes from
Most of mine start from nothing and I just build until I like a design and it just slowly advances over time
that's fantastic .. I love the signage and lighting .. great job!
Damn man, that's impressive. How'd you get the signs looking like that?
is there a limit on how many chests are enough?
Using the voffset command to push the letters down and the size/color commands. Signs are hidden in the ceiling
No
How did u put the color text?
Nevermind already seen
Mistlands idea
how did u make those signs above the portals?
using the <voffset> <size> and <color> tags. One letter per sign hidden above
Help a brotha out
Trollhide wallpaper
windows
What window design you think would look good?
Wdym? How do I use troll hide as wallpaper?
I'm mostly trolling
mostly?!?
Can you put trollhide on an item stand?
only with a mod afaik
Bummer. I guess no trollhide wallpaper
Im new to building and wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I can improve my base.
I guess some light could be good for in the night, cause rn you dont really see a lot of the details
Dverger lanterns or lava lamps for lighting so you don't have to refuel. Grausten Archways for a gothic feel, Ashwood and dark wood for aesthetic detail and variety of building option's. Add frame work to roofing to allow for an overhang. Build house frame and roof before completing walls and floor to avoid weather damage. Use temporary scaffolding and a feather cape to avoid fall damage and enable ability to reach higher building points. Make sure to eat incase you get raided!
ik that it needs more lightning but those light are too dark. Any tips?
Have a central hearth with lanterns and lamps lighting up outer darker areas. The hearth will light the majority, dependant on the size of your build of course. Have a central area to sit for maximum comfort level to rest between adventures.
No way this isn't a world record right?
Easily not
I do appreciate the organization of your marks though
could you share the seed?
Anyone know what I can improve. Its supposed to be a long house and im new to building so I dont know if its hard to tell.
when I look at those it always remember me that Iron is NEVER enough. Nice landscape!
First two levels are sort of done 🤙🏻
I don't really know where this should go but is this a good base location
Ur photo ain’t loading my g
Looks as good as any other place
anyone have ideas for building roofs with walls that aren't a straight 90 degrees angle?
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1202310893757530142/1252907023788675123/Boat_House_3.jpg?ex=6673ec18&is=66729a98&hm=d8e6366fbc34c0a5fa704ae3bc3fb08b428612b9f01ffbca7353531843db32a0& this one is on a slope for the boatlike church building.
People will also do extended overhangs with roofs like this: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/1202310893757530142/1252667413095383130/image.png?ex=6673b5b0&is=66726430&hm=e48cb59711d1e2a703ba19aa7dbdb3ace63ef7f96c36b053f9c1d0ec08085c5b& . Lots of ideas in the screenshot chat.
How do you organize your items? Instead of by item type exclusively (except for wood/ore/food), I normally just throw everything from one biome into something like this. Since it is modular, you can make a long row, two rows, or even angle each so they surround you in a concave shape. Within each group I have a standard way to organize things as well ie. top left is always trophies or boss items, bottom row is all the extra food that doesn't fit in with the main food storage, etc
Anyone got tips on how i can build a long house
Hello, you can check the videos of Versaugh on YT, he made 2 differents longhouse if I remember correctly, they are great
Ok I see thanks!
chandelier for are great hall
ooh, nice
@sullen lagoon I am stealing this idea for my great hall lol
easy if we had steeper roof angles 😅
Gizmo
Really building without it is so limiting
Yeah with mods it's possible, but becomes a pain when running a server with multiple people, some on xbox
left one
always have this ideas that looked very neat in my imagination and then

Hmmm....
anybody have some cool port town/docks builds they can show off? need inspo
idea for my future Ashlands base 👀
No corner roofs for the new buildings ?
Grausten, only has some arched roof and inverted one, but not the normal roof corner
What can i do with those? They are almost in the middle of my planned medieval style town. Is it possible to maybe destroy them using console?
I prefer to work around the monuments. Maybe make it a park or meeting square?
agreed, i like them. And if you still want them gone, @whole saddle, have you tried mining them?
It's impossible to do so (at least with pickaxe)
try console command forcedelete radius
finally found a good use for those spiral stairs.
I mounted two surtling trophies on the bottom step, then put a second stair piece the other way to have two posts and two copper bands. Iron grates in the front. Forge on top, tables for the floor.
Do you use a mod to help snap those furniture? seems rather boresome (at least it would to me)
Ha, an interesting lamp was made from Surtling trophies and arched walls made of ash wood)
Now I need to start a hunt for surtlings, there are few trophies)
Thank you
Is Jerkinhed possible in valheim? Needs a triangle piece right?
Depends if you mind having corners sticking out at the top.
it's possible, you just use the roof corners at the top
it's like a hip on the top that becomes an open gabel at the bottom, all of these are easily done valheim.
hi just wondering if anyone knows good ways to get something like this to work without looking scuffed af
or perhaps at this stage I lack the tools to acomplish such a task
i figured it out nvm
I have an entire bulding map idea if anyone would care to join and help me, you will be credited for the effort you put in.
Cant post there i tried
For some reason i have to wait an hour to post
Did you just join the server an hour ago?
I joined maybe 10 minutes ago
Yeah that's why.
Just wait it out instead of posting in the wrong channels.
(Better I tell you than mods tell you.)
Fair enough
HELP someone teach me how to make the glorious beatiful contraptions that I see on the subreddit
I need guidance tested this beautiful game out on a friends pc knew I needed it but like idk how to build this awesome awesome shit
- Build.
- If not happy, delete and rebuild.
- Repeat until happy.
That is how every single "beautiful contraption" you have seen is built. There are no shortcuts. You learn by doing 🤷♂️
i love it, looks so nice.. especially the courtyard
Hey,
Does anyone have a decorated galdr table room to show, so I can grab some ideas/inspiration?
There are a lot of tutorials out on yt to complexify your builds more and more, but as said nothing is simple unless you copy some.
But with a bit of yt and imagination a couple tenth of hours can get you real far !
DRAWING stuff before doing is really helpfull, even if you don't consider yourself an art guy,
PLAN STUFF
these bells make great looking jugs
I think the Darkwood gate is the best option for a main entrance to a Grausten building.
The Flametal gate is just too big and slow.
I also used the Grausten medium arch to make a nice entrance around the doorway.
This is just the super rough layout but, what shall i do with this giant sunken courtyard type centre i've created?
another angle:
vaulted courtyard?
Well it reminds me of a arena. But I think maybe a farm would fit in. And a central oak tree.
Nothing grows in mountains
think i may need a mod to farm in the mountains yes?
I don't actually know...
Only thing that grows in mountains is fir.
So you could have a small inner forest
mob arena
Can work too, during raids make an opening that encourages enemies to enter and then bombard them with whatever.
Like bombs
Fill it with iron-bar floors and in the middle use build an ascending stone circle for a bon fire / sacrificial altar.
castle for inspiration
ooh, i like it~
Hey i need building ideal for a ship port
USB-sea
boooooo ❤️
hard to tell in that lighting
heyo so i want to make a big building ish because my old one got too filled with storage crafting stuff and portals, can anyone help me with ideas for what to do here? im in mistlands era rn
(usually i dont really build because i am horrible at it but i kinda need it right now haha)
this boi got a bit too filled
These builders are crazy bro..
this the front of my base :D
you gotta be an architect with a base like that
nop
first ever good looking base i made lmao
so im struggling with ideas to make something in this area
oh yea gimme a second
the only thing i actaully enjoy building is castles so you should build a castle but you need WAY more space to make a good one
for sure
do you play with the ores throught portals or no portals
with portals ofc
but ores through them?
what i meant yes sorry
Normal portals without ores.
in what world was i talking to you
lmao
just build in a castle
If only public chats were public.
Oh wait. 🙃
i mean build in a mountain
lol yea but i was clearly already talking to someone
From hostile AF to "lol yeah" in 20s.
Fun.
hostile? bro you are overthinking so hard rn
🙄
i wasnt talking to you so i made it joke you took it WAY to seriesly
oh no someones mad
Ah yes, 🙃 I missed all the 😉 clearly obvious 😏 joke signifiers... 😛 my mistake /j entirely.
nice sense of humor 😉 🙃
god i love miserable people
🤦♂️
You're incorrectly assuming, but you do you... 🤷♂️
your doing a whole debate on something that doesnt matter, im just partaking because its funny as HELL
Nothing is being debated though...
I thought there was a debate/discussion to be had about portal rules.
But that was an error on my part.
Everything past that point is 🤷♂️
ok lol sorry ig
hey you are you gonna build a castle
might be, might not be, requires a bunch of resource gathering
true its a stupid amount of stone
just go the plains and knock down a few of those massive towers, its supper good for stone
ye true
and for wood you can just use elder and farm a bunch at once
(If I may interject)
Copper mining is also an excellent source. It provides a metric asston of stone while also giving you copper (useful in multiple building ways itself).
So it is a true multi-tasking path for building materials.
fantastic point! silver also give lots of stone, although it not usefull when it comes to building
ye i got a bunch of copper scrap rn from the towers but i dont really have much to use it on for now
well i probably do i just dont know what
thats a thing?
ah oh, spoiler
Dverger Stairs and Dverger cage walls are the main decorative pieces that use is.
the spiral ones?
Aye.
not really a spoiler that doesnt change how i play the game
is copper needed for the dverger stuff?
oh wow
are there ashlands decorative pieces?
Copper->Bronze is needed for the Braziers (both hanging and standing)
and new building things
Many.
nice
cant wait rn im in mountains, i would be way further but my parents have jobs so it takes them a lot longer to grind
wuttt u play games with ur parents?
yea
lucky
only valhiem really
i think abomination trophys would be insane decore pieces in survival worlds
were you cant put in rocks and moss on blank walls just put an abomination trophy
rocks and moss?
oohh
you cant spawn it in in surval without commands
ive never done that cuz well i am not creative lmao
i am absolutly TRASH at building in creative worlds
i am so horrible at building
i dont even need creative so suck lmao
im not TERRIBLE but im certainly not good, i am massivly imporving tho
i perfer survaval really gets the creative juices flowing
not for me lul
lol your build above was really nice
yea it suprised me that it turned out alright
not much details but the actual shape of the building was utterly fantasic
the chimney tho 😂
yea mine was about the same
ive gotten so much better at building
i can see yours in the background, its very small compaired to mine
only bc i play on x3 🙊
oh no that is my first base of the world, i meant like my first first base
same
my first first base was uhhhhh... the worst abomination
imagine someone who doesnt know how to snap properly
it looked like that, nothing matched up 😭
Black Marble will change your life.
I think the only people who had perfect first bases were like.... IRL architects 😂
got no clue how to use it at all lmao
