Based on the weapon teaser like the greatsword it seems like we we will be using a combination of silver and whatever new progression material or metal we will get in deep north since the greatsword has alot of white on it, just my idea :))

Now weapons being inbued with frost would be kind of useless against the enemies in deep north but nice in ashlands, I would say if they're going with the whole silver like material extra spirit damage is nice

love early more the more i use them. and yeah introducing them early is a great idea because berserkers have such an odd attack personally i was very quick to abandon them, but now that ive used them on all sorts of enemies i understand them more

From observation it seems like iron has more overall damage against trees but the burst damage of the early axe combo is really good aswell not mention not using that much stamina

If you can consistently chop down trees with the end 2-hit combo of the early axes then its very similar with iron

I dont have trouble with wood honestly, just make a tree farm, capture a troll, profit 🔥

except if for example you’re staggering things like a battleaxe will fell an abomination because earlys you have to dodge and weave and never stagger

well right, that's the game. i'm learning when and how i can get to those final hits of the combo. i learned when an abom does his big tree leg smash you can full combo the skinny leg, you can delay your swings a shocking amount with how much recoil the things have so the sometimes you great a fresh mob with the final swings. i can jump over and behind a slime and full combo it. you can rotate a full 360 during the combo if you stall your swings. there's a high skill ceiling to them.

My general experience has been that Ashlands is not like other biomes. It doesn't feel like a natural difficulty progression the way the others did because they fundamentally changed the amount of combat.

It's not about how you handle 3 Deathsquitos at once. It's about what you do with 2 Deathsquitos, a Lox, 2 Fulings, and a Fuling Berserker all aggro'd on you. And every direction you can run has a Fuling gang directly in your path. All the time.

A 5 minute run with 5 people in Ash level gear turned into a 45 minute endeavor when some people portal'd out then the portal broke and the remaining people died. Gear recovery and getting a portal down took infinitely longer and had way too many deaths. At the end of the night we looked back and besides portal placement, we couldn't find any fundamental decisions we made that deserved the punishment. In previous biomes, we could reexamine the scenario and find where we went wrong. But in Ashlands, it always feels like the only bad decision was going to the Ashlands.

generally just avoid the threats and pick off the less threatening targets til you can 1v1 the hard target

First troll is more of a knowledge check. After that death, you learn if you should parry, dodge roll, or run. The latter two are always viable options.

true you cant run often in ashlands, but thats knowledge so you dont try to run. there are mobs you can parry and mobs youd better dodge. in a big crazy fight you gotta watch and parry some dodge others and get in whatever hits you can, its certainly not easy but its doable with modest reflexes and knowledge

Plains/Mistlands will always be ready to humble anyone who is too arrogant, but Ashlands feels like it goes farther than it should. i will say ashalnds is definitely a spike in difficulty, and it would be an incredibly unfair biome if all you could do was run and dodge roll. but if you make youself the thing to fear you can fight back just fine

It makes me feel good that I have little to no issues establishing a base in the Ashlands. Like any biome, there are growing pains, but learning to navigate them just takes time ultimately.

Well I guess you didn't quite get it so maybe further details may help. I took a Gail, 2 seakers,and a soldier to the pains to fight 3 Lox at night. All was going good, got the mess going but then I had 3 fulings to fight and I took care of them getting a good hit on me and then I went over a hill and had a vile that got a good swipe. But as I was taking that on the deathskitos came. I got 1 but the other 2 took the rest of my health. So what I was getting at is crap happens. Night time was a bigger risk as more mobs. I got into a bigger mess then I created that I was going to handle after who lived. So it takes more to think and plan for what to expect and to battle on. There is all was something to improve on. And heck if you all still think it's still to hard well they added those modifiers use them them to ease your pain. Those are options they added for you to ease the player base or to challenge them.

Actually, isn't there a method of setting up a shooting box near spawners in blackforest? I haven't tried it myself, but some set up a platform, make sure the staff is upgraded as much as able, then spawn a bunch of arrow skellys. You would stand in between the spawner and your skeletons, but elevated higher and away from the spawner's reach. Basically you would draw their attention and your archers would take them out, raising your blood score.

I didn't put much effort in the blood magic spells, but I might want to revist them.

the only way i could see your method being faster would be if archers hit faster and they're shooting something that can take more than one hit. these greydwarves arent strong enough. and i think archers are slower

big terrain/stone walls or dig a big ass circle around your base. weirdly enough i rarely get attacked in those biomes when sitting around my base. disabling raids helps, wont have to build ugly moats and walls. Mods are also an option with summons

I'm really hopefull that they will make you actually need/want to use the siege machines in the Ashlands to get into the Fortress in the 1.0 release, like an anti building zone near it untill you get into the center of the fortress. Because why would you mine the flamatel pillars and make them, when you can just raise the ground next to the fortress and jump in and get all the loot you need right there.

For the first part, the "Wrong channel" reactions are there since modded content is showing, that shouldnt be in the normal screenshot channel as to not confuse new players. When they see that they will be most likely asking questions along the lines of "How do i get that?", "Why dont i he it in my game?", etc. When you know modded stuff is showing in UI you could hide it or send it to #mods-screenshots which would work just as well for helping 🙂

The second part, we cant send pics and stuff in help channel because of scam bots that constantly spammed images there so Smiffe disabled it, iirc its supposed to be temporary measure but we dont know when/if it will come back. 🙂

In burial chambers in the black forest you can find surtling cores which you need 5 of to build a smelter. Red and black glowing squares. You have to fight skeletons. A flint spear (the ONLY time I use spears, don't tell Sevrahn) is good for this.

For armor, you can use deer hide leather armor but I always go with troll. To get troll/deer you kill them, collect the hides that fall, combine them with leather scraps from boars at a workbench, and voila, armor
