There may still be some latency issues but that depends more on your server than anything
last I remember, everything is still handled client-side. did that change?
troll set: yes, the mats are useless for anything else anyway
buckler: not strictly necessary but pretty cheap so why not
axe: don't bother unless you plan to skip the iron one
even a beefy server doesn't fix lag. did that change now?
It’s better, but you may still experience a little lag
Depends on which of you “owns” the chunk (first person to arrive in the area) and how good their connection is
i see, so nothing has basically changed network wise. thanks for answering
Depends also of your connection: wifi is not as stable for Valheim as wired connection.
ofc, wired as it should be. why would you game on wifi at all.
Yeah, I grabbed a mod and upped the fire damage to 30 (from 10). Makes a bit more sense for it to have more fire damage. I feel like the slash damage is fine, it's slightly higher than the Slayer so that's good
Unawareness, mostly. Since I started using wired connection few years back I've noticed the improvement in network performance for multiplayer.
when is 1.0 coming
When it’s ready
Curious, what's with the mead reaction, is it like "take some while waiting" or else?
It’s the “1.0 when?” drinking game. I’m already on my 4th liver.
Oof, do you have good source for organ donators?
any tips on reducing lag on a server for the ashlands specifically? we are with 3 people and everytime we are together in the ashlands the lag becomes unbearable (any other biome is perfectly fine)
Ashlands is known to do this. Most likely will be addressed in the 1.0 update.
Not voluntary ones 😏
Feel free to take all livers from modders 😏
I’m sure there’s a mod for that
okidoki 👍
I counter by bringing many 2star asksvin eggs and letting them grow up in the cave
Primal axes ftw there
Im starting to like the jade more over the lolite
Lolite is nice for damage
But damn that immobility
Yeah, they have their uses
Yeah, was about to say
It's iolite, not lolite.
It's good, but a little more situational
I've been lied to my entire life
😭
Ngl, I want a better lightning magic weapon on the topic of iolite
It's not anime inspired gem.
I've been pronouncing it as lo-lite ever since my first time getting one
I did not notice
We have 2 sides, iolite buff vs bloodstone buff
Item names have capital first letter.
Jade is just chillin
Well not necessarily a buff, just a more practical lightning magic weapon, the shotgun is okay, but as a mage you're usually running and moving a lot which interrupts the reload
Allow running while reloading but reduce reload speed
Maybe by 60%
Could see it
Like I get the balancing reason, it's just for a mage that kinda sucks having to slowdown like that just to 'reload' your magic
The reload system is bad on magic, the only magic weapon currently with a reload system is dundr
Lol
It consumes eitr but one shift or any other movement back to 0 and a huge chunk of eitr gone
Yeah it's a little awkward, it's not like we're dropping bolts messing up a ripper reload
anyone have tips for getting lox to breed? i currently have 5. should i let them free roam?
I just put them in pairs in their own pens.
Is it just by chance that my howling cavern had like 5 veigsevirs?
was it smart to brute force 3 stacks of silver down a moutain and to my boat through a forest? No, but I was too lazy to walk 3 times
Tip for silver: put them on cart and push cart off from cliff.
Smart, will do next time
Smart and fun!
And even if it broke the mats are recovable and contents inside cart are stored in small boxes that drop when cart breaks.
I like rolling dragon eggs off the mountain especially at night. Makes quite the show
Can lox be tamed with barly and flax?
Just barley, flax is for chickens i believe
Chickens don't need taming
cloudberry, flax and barley all work
Feeding
But they need food for them to produce eggs 🙂
Yea 🙂 but I was asking about taming specifically. If barly and flax work im going to plant it all over and run around picking it when new lox soawn
I feeed my chickens carrot seeds
Sure wish we could feed merchant loxes for extra buff. Looks like they are eating carrots or something like that
just discovered that asksvin hatchlings also eat these three items
Good to know. I've been feeding mine exclusively ashlands veggies
feeding doesn't do anything but the item disappears, like when a bear eats blueberries
Didn't realize hatchings need to eat to grow up
it's probably unintended, the lox ai was used as a base for the hatchlings
Wish there was a condition where they never grew up. So cute. I had a mod palstone where I could capture them in hatchling form and hold them inside the stone forever
if you want tiny asksvins forever keep necks instead
To keep them warm and cozy and shielded from the environment?
I have a jugged neck recipe .. didn't realize it was also a real life condition
anyone here can tech me some stuff im new to valheim
Welcome to your new obsession!
just landed and i got killed by a pig😭
Welcome to valheim
Wait til a tree falls on you
probably i was chasing some pigs and my body was under some logs
Tip: don't die, dying resets a small portion of learned skills 👍
Skills don't matter too much in the end honestly.
They do and don't in a weird way, like having high bow is super useful for laying down a machine gun of arrows. But you don't need high skills to enjoy the game
is every throne room out of stone looks bad in this game? Is it just me or wooden ones look way better?
A mix of both is usually my go to
Bone throne
bad to the bone
i just watched Terminator's bar scene...
bad ass
some stone castles in this game have detailed stone walls, is it a mod? Or something you unlock very late game?
Different type of stone perhaps
there are two types of stone?
Marble
There's 3
sheet, i wanted to build my castle so bad, but the regular stone looks like crap
why the heck did I farm 20 chests of regular stone LOL
To raise ground
Can I join a server?
To be fair regular stone just looks more rough around the edges and can be nice for rougher looking builds
Also depending on what 20 chests ? Black metal ? Maybe too much
20 chests of iron, perfect, maybe one more to be safe
#screenshots message
Man, i really want a castle now, but nowhere near of unlocking new building materials 🙁
Still working through the plains?
Well right after the plains you'll get black marble from the mistlands
do the plains even have a boss? i didn't find any directions to it
It does, you need to be lucky to find a vestige or be lucky and find the massive boss area by just looking around plains
All biomes except ocean and Deep North (currently) have boss.
Ocean boss is the time it takes to sail
Ocean boss is the damn wind
Yes
So far i didn't use any boats, not sure why, i was just curios how far can i go from starting location without boats, almost at the south pole, and don't see a shore 😄 I guess i can reach it
Must have a massive starting island
oh ya, pangea, some tiny islands in between allowed to jump all the way to the mistlands
Valheim
There are few ways to prevent that: black marble, iron and copper building pieces are immune to the sparks and also terrain wall.
have you tried any mods? #mods-screenshots message
yes, this looks way better, so far i play vanilla, adding a mod is a commitment, i'll think about it, thanks for the info
whats the benefits of taming wolves ?
You just sign into those once they are set up. So basically just enter a PW.
They can actually follow you and fight with you, plus if you get starred wolves they provide you with plenty of wolf meat while you need it. Personally I rely on being hunted for getting all the meat I need.
yeah i only been hunted once and loads of wolf meat came with that lmao
Yep. I usually get 30 to 40 when I get hunted. Plus I love it when I can use them to attack villages or growths.
me and my buddy is ready for plans max iron everything so just hcecking if wolfs in a extra but not really
You ideally have silver gear for the plains.
im keeping the wolf gear dunno if thats the best choice for plains but were living for now
You can do the plains with iron, just saying its meant for us to have silver gear.
Heck, I do the plains in bronze. Not heavily, but I do wipe out villages until I can plant barley.
eyescream wold skewer and wolf jerky were going for
serpent stew is good just takes so long to find
I do two HP foods and one stamina. So Typically going into the plains I start with skewers, sausage and onion soup.
Sausages are probably better then wolf jerky
we like it pretty balanced we use the bows alot so we like to have bit more stam
Makes sense. If you rely on block/parry you do want more HP.
What's the recommended food combo for a solo mage in ashlands?
EEF is solid, which are seeker aspic, stuffed mushroom and Mistlands feast for me at the start, then switching stuffed mushroom to marinated greens when getting mats for it and cauldron upgrade.
I can 2nd EEF, EEE is also good
eitr eitr feast?
Or EES.
idk ees has kinda fallen out imo
Mistlands feast grants 65 hp and stamina plus 33 eitr.
If I go mage I still like using seeker aspic for its cheapness, good stats (85 eitr) and 30 min duration, while marinated greens is the best eitr food with 95 eitr and also 30 min duration.
EEE is very nice on mage, i mead ratatosk and lightfoot to compensate with the stamina and jumping
I wish I could turn the day counter off
I'm guessing in 1.0 release we can max our ashlands gear and ready for the adventures in the north
Unknown, but a reasonable guess
🤔 possibly, they've teased a mage upgrade, so we may only be able to max ash gear while in the deep north.
Hope so
Anw, jade doesnt want to leave me alone, ive done like 3 charred fortress so far and i got like 3 Iolite, 3-5 bloodstones and 10+ jades
Much better than we have done. Done 2 fortress' and only 1 of each stone. RNG is so fickle.
So the "mysterious locations stones" are in putrid holes, and faders stone locations are in charred fortresses?
yea, fader veg is technically in some of the ash ruins, but the best way to find fader veg is by doing fortresses
i've done ashlands progression countless times and it's very uncommon to not come across a fader location by exploration or by the time ur done with fortresses in my experience
My first time ever going to Ashlands, I came to shore directly at Fader's altar
I had no clue what it was until I found a Vegvisir that moved my map back to where I came ashore.
What the? The two flaming trolls i summoned like days ago to provide as a distraction while im running home are still alive
Whoa, i just come a cross a mysterious location that holds one of the fragments while im finding more ph for those vegisvirs
is slash actually good in this game i swear its white dmg to everything
Neutral to everything is good for consistency, but yes some things are weak to slash.
guys
i was playing a mp game with a friend. we both died then his game crashed. we got back to where i died and my tombstone is gone with all of my loot
is it all gone
I thought this happened to me once but I was at a different death location. Double check to make sure you are actually at the correct spot
Sometimes u dc and u get double loot. Sometimes u lose it
it was my only death in the plains
While making a grewdwarf farm do I leave a bit of land under the spawner or dig it completely out?
I dug it completely out. Not aware of any reason not to.
That was pretty much what happened to me- saw his big colosseum and thought it was some exploitable POI dungeon or something
Getting the itch to play Valheim again 🤔
Longest I went without playing again was a little over a year, but I had a lot of bad stuff to deal with during that year.
It's really intimidating for that structure to be the first you see 👀
Feel that. It’s always the building that draws me in- I see something cool and it just makes me want to build
The building in this game is just on a whole different level.
100% agree
I'll get back into building once 1.0 comes out. I got burned out gathering all the mats I needed for some of the huge builds I did. So when I will allow myself to use dev commands, I'll start building for fun again.
I also have a double loot corpse in the mountains 😂 it's funny watching the stuff in it become irrelevant as we progress
Finaly got my hands on the Early Axes, while trying to find the Swamps.
Luring bears and trolls into the swamp early game is so fun
So far, I can't find any. Found plenty of mountains, though.
we jsut unlocked black metal weapons why is the iron mace stronger then the black one lol
theres a black metal mace?
anything special about the porcipine
oh the porcupine
yeah
It deals blunt and pierce damage
its nearly doble the damage of iron mace?
both lvl 1 iron does 55 and the other 50
50 blunt + 45 pierce
i didnt know it did pierce aswell
bit of a weird combo of damage dont think its very popular
oh right was gonna say blunut and piece is the best ones right ?
wolf armour over padded armour ?
ps i hate the swamp
padded armor has higher armor, you can keep a cape with the cold protection
okay yh the armour gives alot same as max lvl wolf armour
wolf or those uh lox or whatever theyre called
Stumbled into the Meadows. Still haven't vound the Swamps.
are you walking looking for swamp
It's the next biom I should go to. Just got my Swamp Key.
build a Karve boat and sail the coastlines you will be far enough from spawn to find swamp quickly just by seeing it / edge revealed on map as you go along coast
also swamps have lot of water so, easier to sail by than walk
Yea, I was thinking something similar. Appreciate the advice.
what weapons are best for plains
What weapon skills are your highest?
whatever the mace is
club i think
i have frostner and a huntsman bow. im open to new stuff. just havent never been to plains
Clubs- Frostner is a pretty great choice. Once you’ve progressed into the plains a bit, you can consider using the Porcupine.
thx
Personally I really like the huntsman’s bow, but draugr fang is great bow as well.
also a huntsman fan
I love the huntsman bc when I started playing, fuling camps were "how da heck r u supposed to do this" now i just stand in one spot and take out the whole camp XD
is huntsman better then draugr?
heheheheh
it uses less stamina
i really like the draugr
draugr is not a clear Only Upgrade it has some downsides
and a lot quieter
less dps tho ?
if you have no stamina left your dps is 0
if youre just shooting a few arrow yeah. but if its for something with a lot of health no. it uses more stamina so you wont be able to shoot as much
does the poison damage happen all at once from dragr and for arrows? two questions i guess
kinda depends
the poison dmg ticks ive never used poison arrow with the dragr before
ticking damage is a downside in some situations
Like, huntsman is better against a group of growths, where you can sneak attack all of the growths with fire arrows, while draugr will aggro a good portion and you'll get less sneak attacks in therefore lowering the burst dmg substantially
oh its like that huh? interesting
yea, huntsman has a aggro radius of 4m on it's projectile, and draugr is 8m
i shot so many arrows my huntsman broke so i carry a backup finewood bow lol
whats good against growths in plains?
like scales said fire arrow from far far away
ok
btw can i close out those stupid tar pits somehow?
Poison resistance, shields and blunt. IF you block it you won't be slowed. I usually use swords/slashing, but still do fine.
oh so the tar goes into a hole?
the liquid yeah but they never respawned for me
how does tar work? it says its stuck in the pit. can we get a lot of it to build with
well what ive seen so far
i just want the growths to stop spawning if possible
Put a bench or camp fire on it after you kill them.
peanut was just saying dig a hole nearby so the tar goes there and then you can loot it
dig another pit next to it and break the wall so it flows into the empty hole
does tar spawn passively from the pits?
Just the growths, which drop tar.
ok
not sure im new with the pits aswell but theres load of tar under the liquid
Usually around 80. So worth digging out if you want tar for building.
Then if you want more tar from a specific pit for some reason, just don't spawn block it and at least 1 growth will spawn every few days. I forget the specific time frame.
wow thats a lot
I've had pits in the 60's. I think it depends on how many holes make up a specific pit.
Its really funny if you ever play on 1.5x resources. Being a mead of troll endurance XD
I had corpse run and auto-picked up a bunch of stuff and when the corpse run ran out I was frozen and got killed 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬 🤬
hate this game sometimes do the devs not realize how annoying this is
Turn auto pick up off during corps runs?
I say it because thats what
I've been doing for years to avoid that very situation.
I don't want to click on and off a setting every time I need to do that
It’s just the V button 🤔
"every time" ? how often do you die that pressing v is a burden
Pro tip: dont die?
I tired this Pro tip and it did not work for me. lol
Leveling your skills and being prepared. Totally doable 💪. The most dangerous enemies in the game are trees and gravity
what about piranha water or lava
I have been playing on a very hard setting server not dying is not an option.
Yeah lava will pwn u XD
i guess technically is that still gravity? since if you could float or fly then no lava problems
Or a lack of amiability considering there are friends that could help you walk across
Most dangerous thing is not having the rested buff
all this fishing bait and i still haven’t used it
Better get to it
Yeah, best to start well ahead of time and do a little bit at a time. Fishing is too boring to do a lot of at one stretch.
fish food seems to be outlcassed or at least a close option, for any fish related recipe
So, more fish recipes needed then?
hmm dont think i personally would make fish recipes be best in class
I think the two fish foods are only better by 5 points.
might lose my 150 hour playtime first playthrough valheim world😔
send 0.10 bitcoin or i delete it
my SSD got defect and its not possible to save any data
are worlds not cloud saves?
idk
Depends on your setting.
so you can boot the pc still?
im praying for it
had just finished my 2nd house ever which took me like 10 hours to make
when you will get a new ssd?
today
ok we praying 🙏
IF its a cloud save, yes. I think you have to make it a cloud save, though. Been so long I can't remember, but I think the default save is to your HD.
it seems to my memory, i had reinstalled valhiem after new ssd and my old shit was there
i dont ever consider that i need to backup steam stuff, in 2026, dont know if i should
Well, hopefully the cloud is the default,.
Well ill keep my hopes a little low incase and pray that its cloud saved
i just checked and in the current valheim ui you have to manually go to manage saves and press a button Make Local
to make it not be cloud
i.e. default is backed up online
btw 150 hours world dayam you must have explored everything
Thats good. I just know a lot of my old saves are on my HD. Plus thumb drives, because I never trust an HD to not crash.
By old I mean my games that are 3 to 5 years old, I've been saving to cloud since then.
you could time travel and stuff if you make it local so its neat to have an option
I save to cloud because I travel. So want to be able to play it on my laptop when I do.
also during gameplay, that world save 0.4s + 3.0s time i think that extra 3.0s or whatever is updating to steam
good game, good features heh
not barely at all tbh, i’ve spent a lot of time building and perfecting my village and other outposts as well as farming resources, not too much on the exploring side
omg u got my mood up
me and my other 2 mates who’s also spent about 100 hours on there have made such an amazing and cozy village and we’ve just recently beaten Yagluth or wtv its name is
and i would feel so bad if my pc being a problem took everything away
that sounds really awesome
anyone want to join my world I made a pretty decent house so far just need help in the mistlands is all
man
screw that guy that said that I should be fine walking through the plain in mountain-level armor
got absolutely obliterated by tar growth
What other armor would you use?
I would not have expectation that it's "supposed to happen"
also, how would I know?!
You used the best armor available but that doesn’t mean the biome has to be easy, especially in the later ones
Against growths do whatever you can to avoid an unlocked hit. Blocking reduces the slowing effect and strafing will avoid it entirely
When they stop attacking they will be safe to kill for a while, their attack has an 8 second cooldown
You can use Fenris armor with Root armor chest for pierce protection in Plains. Sneak onto the tar pits and try to take them out with a bow. If this fails, wait for the growth's approach and when it comes in range run sideways from its attack. Like @nocturne wolf has written, they're safe to smash right after their attack has finished.
And yes, it sucks getting hit by them.
Even with Plains armor.
If you do get hit try your best to move away and roll through their next attack, you don’t want to be slowed any longer
They also have a strong poison attack that often gets overlooked. It is VERY dangerous.
The poison is part of their attack is what I mean.
I always try to run in circles around growths so their attacks usually cannot hit me. Movement is a big part of the combat in Valheim. You can't just stand your ground and expect to survive.
They also deal more poison damage than blunt damage (50 PD, 45 BD).
It’s always wise to have poison resistance active in the Plains, since it provides stronger protection against poison and will override the “resistant” effect from the Root Mask anyway.
50 poison damage is a lot, it does more than just a tickle.
anyone have any cool visual mod suggestions?
yeah I been try to dodge them all around , the problem was that first time I, obviously, didn't expect them to through it like that. (even despite seeing some squitos die over the hill)
so I vent to liek 30hp quickly, popped healing, and next thing I know 4th one is attaacking me.
Did shoot back with a bow, but it was pretty much impossible to do anything except try to bide some time by rolling away.
eventually, they caught up.
looks like fuling don't like those either.
and what is this, they do poison too? dang
also I am a firm believer that ulvs cannot be parried
gladly they are sooo thin they die from 2 hits most
is only spear didn't have a length of toothpick
Remember when I Walked into a Frozen cave, like 6 ulves attacked me, left me on 11hp but I swung my sword once and they were all gone
That was a rush of emotions
THIS IS FOR DEV..
I found a duplication bug. If you save, retrieve all your items from your chests, leave the world, and then reload the save, the item reappears in the chest and remains in your inventory.
It doesn't sound like a bug. What happened is that you loaded backup save of your world but not your character.
Because characters have their own save files apart from world saves.
okay, so. If someone is pulling the catapult, and someone else puts a rock in it....
I assume that's a glitch, right? I'm not imagining things?
What is?
the insane rain of arrows that appears out of nowhere
I'm a bit confused, so someone put a rock in a catapult and it was pulled, then arrows rained from above or?
yup
I got a clip but it's too big to share
@lilac lily
no, FROM the catapult
I'll try and cut the clip down
it's hard to explain
Please do, I'm really curious
😢
#memes-and-clips is the most appropriate, but also #steam-bugs-discussion could work if they allow media to be posted.
Oh my god... is this without any mods?
no mods
I am sure yall get this often but how excited are you for 1.0
That is definitely a major bug, I would also submit that to a bugs-discussion channel, and potentially #valheim-public-test as well.
Try and write the steps to replicate the bug out precisely.
That's a good find! ✊
thanks. it's funny as hell
Yeah and a bit scary 😱
gonna chuck it on the subreddit too
Good idea
is poison resistance mead a necessity for swamp?
If youre just arriving at the swamp, absolutely
going there soon from black forest i guess
just don't get hit ez
Even if youre experienced, with the food and armor you have you would definitely want to bring the potions with you
Gotta get those 3000 coins eggs
There is one location for free eggs. Requires some combat tho.
interesting
If you have found Hildir and got markers from her map one of those location types have eggs.
im pretty sure i do have hildir but not sure how it works
i never did any of her quest
Have found both mountains and plains, but no swamps. Gonna have to go sailing this weekend.
It's so satisfying when you get a lot of iron mined so it is worth it
I'm still digging a trench shop I can bring my boat to the copper mines. It's slow, but it can carry four full stacks of ore, which would be amazing to bring home.
Having pleanty of metals is always good
You could always just run to the boat back and forth. Get your run and jump up
Small boat is not worth the hassle of digging trench even though it is pretty nimble.
Look at the map table in front of her and you'll get 9 locations
Why tf did I throw away my skeleton trophies omg
they good ?
They're needed for a certain staff later on
oh..
magic stuff surely, think we got 2 stacks of 20 skull
trophies are just annoying to keep, they always mixed in many crates..
Well time to get organize on the storages 🙂
Oh, I'm gonna have to do that anyway. But without the trench, the closest approach is halfway top my goal anyhow. I just have to dig a little and connect two lakes.
I just put them all in one reinforced chest
But yeah it's too full now. Gonna make a black metal chest for it instead
Man do the anglers just not respawn or what
Benches/ portals affect fish spawns too?
the fulling place?
Sadly yes, but its my friend hosting the game
We either hunt, farm or hunt more. I sadly not having enough time to do the other stuff
If i could log in and do my thing it would be more organized. its not that bad tho
But i like it, that way i play when he plays and thats it
Shit I guess so...
Yeah I guess so too but im not sure, I had some feeling there was a different spawn mechanic for them but I have no idea
Ashlands - Walk/Talk (part3) was 2/21/24

Hervror Bloodtooth (part10) was 2/25/26

Thoughts???
Just one: when it's ready and shiny
Hello I'm new to this server
I used to play this game before but I want to start all over again . I know I can't do it alone it's time taking and challenging. I'm looking for a team
Check if https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 has open invites, or you can make your own post to invite others. 👍
so the PS5 port is supposed to drop with Deep North?
That is not confirmed.
We know we are getting 1.0
We know we are getting PS5
We know we are getting Switch
People connect these things by themselves even though the devs have never even hinted they are connected 🤷♂️
Valheim on Switch would give me arthritis
IG isn't even the one doing the ports, they farmed all of that out to another company. So even more unlikely anything will occur at the same time. Not impossible, just more unlikely.
lets be honest most people just want the 1.0
?
i was still in highschool when the early access came out
now i am taking my masters degree
That is the nature of early access, yes.
what i meant was our main concern is 1.0, the ps5 release and switch are irrelevant
I would say for people who don't own PC's, they are very relevant. 🤔
i doubt they have been waiting as much 😭 since there is no early access
early access made us pc users yearn for more
whilst there its more like a new game thats releasing
like i for one check on valheim every other week
So I own a PC and play the game, but I would not be classified as a PC user by your definition of yearning. :\
maybe you are a bit new then ? i was playing since the beta
Not new at all.
I just don't yearn.
I appreciate what they have done.
The rest will come when it comes.
idk man, with the current games in the industry, valheim is truly special for me and i want its release to be as good as possible so that it draws more recognition for the team
the reason for yearning is because its as if youve had a sip of the holy grail of survival games
and want more
Wanting more is the path to the dark side.
Rekt by image perms.
Train yourself to let go of everything you fear to lose.
the dark side is always more fun
Lies.
The dark side is the path to righteousness
also theres such a plethora of early access games right now its annoying
enshrouded and windblown
are so good if youre ever looking for achange
at least they are looking very promising.
It is the path of the future because corpos aren't going to sponsor original ideas. Too much risk for their fat wallets.
So people with good ideas have to go ea route to get funding.
I’ve been playing ASKA… fun colony Viking sim
Windrose is going to be good too
have you tried soulmask ?
Also there is nothing wrong with UE5 at all...
I just saw soul mask release.. was going to look at that too
Insult an entire engine due to the actions of devs is wild.
I do play Enshrouded. Has a lot of the same feel as Valheim. Its not identical by any means, just a lot of it makes me think of my Valheim game play.
i know, its just some devs put so much front end and forget about optimising
If you know, why insult entire engine?
That's like saying "hammers suck" because you had a bad contractor at your house.
misinterpretation
I don't even pay attention to which engine they are using. Junk is junk.
enshrouded does have the same feel but it does feel more childish
i still love it tho
its early access is ending soon as well
hopefully both of them this spring
I don't know about childish, but there are some things they have done that I hope they change. I do love building in Enshrouded, especially with how great you can make your gardens.
Yes it is quite intuitive, it felt like a mix of v rising and valheim building
I've never played V Rising. I should get around to it, since I own it.
Hi I love Valheim. That is all. Have a good day
Man, its really hard to find the motivation to keep going through Ashlands. I wish I liked it, but its just so ugly, and all the fighting just becomes irritating instead of fun. So it gets really hard for me to even want to keep playing.
Put on some Led Zepplin and get into the hell vibes
I've even started doing unnecessary building just to spend time in other biomes. 😄
Doesn't help.
That's rough, visually it's definitely top 3 for me
Whats the name for the Morgen dungeons? I even like those because once you kill the Morgen its quiet in there.
Putrid Hole
its so good i recommend finishing the pve on your own then start the pvp aspect
I find it ugly, period. Only things that look nice are the ruins.
I don't think it's supposed to look nice to be fair
My friend is the opposite: she loves good mayhem and open fights. And she liked how the ruins looked.
She also loves raiding fuling villages, so that explains too.
I hate the mist in the Mistlands. I love the biome. Its gorgeous. When you can see it.
i agree its very pretty specially the wood i wouldnt mind building a house there, but exploring is not it
also the enemies are fun to manage
finding the naturally mist-free parts is the best part of exploring mistlands
i would like your friend lol
IF you find them
they're not rare
Taking out villages is still my favorite thing to do. Just at least with them, I get to chose when I get into big fights. In Ashlands I can get into a big fight any time, with how things spawn there.
I'm setting up my forever world in a mist-free area that's attached to plains so I can farm everything and take on the Mistlands raids regularly.
i was so unlucky once that i found 5 dungeons and only 1 mist free area, but atleast i had the wisps
im so excited after mountains because i get to just go viking raiding and do big fights throwing a spear into the face of the camp's shaman and kicking the hornet nest in the nuts
i've got like half a dozen mist free infested mines in my current world
you can make wisp lights thatll kick out the mist it also makes good lighting effect
I'm very aware 😛 I cleared an entire mistlands island with them before, I just want a natural clearing so I don't have to integrate them into my base.
i have my mistlands farm in an area like that. Dvergr dungeon next to 6 roots next to plains and almost entirely mist-free. It's great
Its definitely a high light, for sure.
My favourite valheim experience was raiding the fuling tower in the plains and that transition into blackmetal and thread along with taming the wolves. Most traumatic one by far was the swamp.
Yep. I still wish they would tie the mists to the Queen, and have them go away once we beat her.
im headed to the swamp soon
first time
my condolences
i just need to find it :D
unless you have ore travel turned off
its on
Ah I don't, I like that the challenge persists beyond progression, also the Mistlands would be harder in theory, as enemies can see very far in mist-less areas, and you might just get swarmed constantly.
so you can travel with ores ?
nope
oh yep condolences
just make sure to have more stamina than health since ull get 2 shotted anyways and will be wet most of the time
that'S terrible advice
it made my second clearthrough very easy tbh
Well, I don't get swarmed more often in the areas I put up the wisps. Besides, spawning is directly tied to our being present.
with the atgeir
nothing in the swamp should twoshot you on normal unless it's 2 starred or you're eating meadows tier food
Especially if your using your shield well.
hah, that's maybe true on very hard, but on normal if you eat 3 foods and hold right click you're good.
tbh i played on very hard so im not sure
That's why I said in theory, it's hard to say if everyone would experience that or not.
also the poison ticks were just so annoying i had to have stamina always to keep dodging properly
farming entrails still the most disgusting rewarding feeling every
might want to mention that since it changes basically everything
Yeah, don't question where that comes from too deeply. 😄 😄
i mean it's not THAT much more digusting than how real sausage is made...
Deer and boar are not the answer for every swamps location.
i remember when i first started the game my friend would go to the black forest keep baiting a troll to come and hit our meadows base and he was like "yo theres another troll raid"
also making kebab with wolf meat was something 😭
specially wolves i had tamed
weird the blocking spreadsheet is messed up for me, i can't enter a difficulty for some reason
i wanted to check just HOW easily you can block or parry everything in the swamp on normal
I was a farmer for 15 years, so the only part that bothered me was the source, like you said. Everything else was due to needing to feed my family and make money. So I accept all of the rest.
tbh once you learn the animations and its not your first playthrough parrying was easy even on very hard
but it was still very satisfying
i love that you can even parry arrows
atgeir supremacy >>
imean timing doesnt change per difficulty, you definitely can't parry everything on vh
aside from bosses what cant you parry ?
2 stars.
its parriable
Not all of them, at all times.
Guys, what's the best weapon for ashland?
depends on how much you level your block skill
Whatever you like. DPS wise the Silver sword is great for charred, and I think the Valkyrie.
even 3 star movs are parriable
Whichever you enjoy using most 🙂
It depends. There's no one 'best'
this.
Going in or already having mats for new weapons?
i recommend playing with multiple weapons tbh
Is the long sword fine?
Like my wife still loves to use Frostner in Ashlands, but I think thats mostly because she never uses shields.
no, doesnt change boss timing either?
pierce damage and blunt damage are most important and frostner
Damn
it does have good damage and cc
Like I said, for DPS the Silver Sword is really good for Charred, and I think the Valkyrie. I also use Mistwalker, and I do well enough.
no, i meant, bosses in valheim cant be parried
oh nvm i read what you wrote again i read that wrong.
aside from bosses uhm, most 1 star things?
I like mistwalker because it does good damage against everything in Ashlands.
They certainly can, but they cant be staggered by it
1 star and up you can't parry in most situations on vh, or large mobs
They can, they just don't stagger.
fair enough
Got u, ty
level up your block skill
and use atgeir
imean, assuming the spreadhseet isnt broken for anyone else, just put in very hard difficulty and whatever biome's shield, it's most things are a big "yeah right" to parry
Is it Sevrahns sheet your having issues with?
ok put in atgier in very hard on the spreadsheet and see for yourself not really a point discussing it when there's a literaly sheet telling you that's not possible to parry ever non-boss enemy on very hard
i mean idk man i played the game and didnt use a spreadsheet 😭 all i can tell you for sure is that each biome with its own gear can parry even up to 2 stars on very hard
like iron atgeir in swamp
can parry everything in the swamp
There are no three star enemies..
wdym ? the purple one
or is it 2 stars
0 1 2
What purple one?
Well, your also obviously using mods, so no telling how that changes things from the standard game. There are no 3 stars in the un modded game.
And yes max is 2 stars
yeah i mixed up its 2 stars my last playthrough was when ashlands came out
yes ty
the elite draugr 2 stars its purple
also just to be clear block skill atleast 25
ok, thats just not true like the sky is blue, there's no way you're parrying a 2 star drauger on very hard with an atgier
Mines in the 40's. Too freaking tedious to get it much higher.
Someone fucked the sheet by not following directions 😂
That didn't take me directly to your post, I had to scroll down to get to it.
Requirements for Success
Upgraded Gear: You should be using at least a Level 3 or 4 Iron Atgeir.
High Health Food: You must eat top-tier food (e.g., Sausages, Turnip Stew, Black Soup or better) to maximize your stagger threshold.
High Blocking Skill: Your blocking skill should be high (ideally 30+) to handle the damage.
Rested Buff: Mandatory for stamina regeneration
unless something was buffed or nerfed recently because the atgeir as i remember had 3x multiplier on block
Yeah, that generally applies to every biome.
yes
im aware how parrying works. there are literally numbers that say number things that are true.
You still can't parry every 2 star on VH settings.
i did, it gives me an error when i try to click on that box
i do remember that when parrying i would get damaged but it does stagger the enemy allowing my friend to finish them off
Fixed it already 🙂
so its 100% parriable because its the way we played it 😭
So they would need to DL a fresh sheet.
Only if they are downloading it.
ty
True. I DL all the sheets offered, so I forget just using it online is an option. 😄
And @indigo imp if you're on VH with 25 skill and Iron Atgeir, a 2-star draugr is only parryable with 244 HP, which you don't have at that time.
HOKAY. NOW. NUMBERS. so sad i have to do this myself and look at the spreadhseet myself. on VERY HARD. with an iron atgier and 25 block which is a realistic block to have reached at that point, to parry a 2 star draugr, not even an elite drauger, you need THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THREE health
323 regular, 244 with Mantle.
And 244 isn't attainable until Plains iirc.
p.s. someone bricked the P3-4 boxes which is what broke that page.
Idk how the permissions got changed, but that is what I fixed. It's locked back down to where you can affect only the 3 intended boxes.
but let's say you just got into the swamp and you have the finest rank 3 bronze buckler, you need only 284 health! so as long as you can eat 4 serpent foods you're all set!
alright. numbers. behold them and know truth.
Like if you're a 2-h sword person on normal, Mantle goes so hard for what it enables you to block.
i loved mantle in ashlands last normal run cuz berserker axes could do 1 star stuff
that doesnt stop you from parrying ! you can parry and be staggered it wont kill you
it staggers both you and the enemy
that happens when the damage after block armor doesn't stagger you but the damage after armor does
if the damage between block armor and armor staggers you the block/parry fails
Um... no.
But thank you for explaining to me how blocking works.
I had no idea.
Certainly didn't write an entire sheet about it with an in-depth README tab..
no im 100% sure that you can both be staggered it will take a chunk from your hp but it will still stagger
Yes, because there are 2 separate stages to that.
If you fail to parry you won't stagger the target.
the parry depends on the timing, and whether you can live or not im pretty sure
If you fail the parry - no stagger.
If you succeed the parry - stagger.
If you suecced the parry and enough damage gets through the block after the fact (from the same individual attack instance) - both staggered.
Plz read the README tab on the sheet. Plz.
how is this different to what i said ??
I mean if you try parry too big hit the attempt fails.
Because I am telling you it cannot be parried at that time on that difficulty unless you're using food from 2 biomes later.
Physically impossible unless you're lying about one of the variables.
yeah for sure parrying doesnt nullify damage
So the parry will just fail if you try. Meaning only you are staggered.
If you have not high enough max HP and block armor to even be able to parry the hit you won't stagger the target but get staggered yourself.
Really just comes down to max HP.
Block armor reduces the amount of max HP you need.
@tacit crystal can you fix my name?
Cube away?
Does anyone know if the poison damage from a pufferfish is rank based?
Afaik shouldnt be
Iirc they all deal same amount of poison damage.
I figured as much. So not much reason to hoard R2 fish for culling tames.
If using Puffers for auto-farms, the rank only affects the size/range that things will get hit by it's poison
Thanks.
Range, huh? Guess I'll start using the bigger ones for killing Hares.
I tend to use the rank 1's for my Greydwarf/Boar/Wolf auto-farms
Mostly to avoid hitting them myself when collecting
Honestly I don't usually do auto-farms; I'd rather turn on pvp and shoot them for the skill increase.
show me the spreadsheet, because im 100% sure about what im saying, both you and the 2 star draugr will be staggered if you parry with the atgeir at very hard i even went on a wiki run, the total block damage you can get not even assuming best food slots is 116, the draugr 2 star hits for 192, if your max hp is 150 (which is not the highest possible) you will live not to mention the block armor reducing the damage youll get
There is something immensely satisfying in watching a chicken explode from a bolt.
When I solo play I def do that same route RudeMann. When I play with 4+ people that eat resources like they're melting...I tend to go more automated 😄
It is pinned in this channel if you need it later.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1zuJ2BACwMq-cZXrc7fJOw8hDGp5ROKeBVcf73IzRrlw/edit?gid=2132535813#gid=2132535813
That's a very good point.
That's always a 0.5m radius @foggy glacier
good to know
Just got the game on sale and figured I join the discord. Looking forward to the game
You're on a treat then.

Welcome! 😄
Thanks
Don't rush. You only get to play a game for the first time, the first time, and many of us wish we had taken even longer to do our first play through.
Of course, mine was when the plains was the last biome.
Many of us wishing partial amnesia to forget only the Valheim part to experience the game again fresh.
Welcome, I am also a Godzilla fan 🫡
Nice. I started the game and have been attacked by goblin dudes
scrawwww! this area is too strong for you! go back!
wait unless, are you on a multiplayer server?
He might be talking about greylings? 🤔
I've started carrying some obsidian arrows cause why not and it was incredibly satisfying to kill a troll in 3 shots.
And instantly after I collected it's gold, a 1 star bear gently came behind me, shoving it's face in my camera and made it's presence known well before it started attacking. I am quite I stumbled upon such a gentleman who wanted a fair fight
aim for head
I do, mate
Why commas are important
lmao
Of course I find burial chambers with 3 vigvisirs way after defeating The Elder, but I cannot find any moder vigvisirs in the frost caves yet.
I've never found them in frost caves, only in towers.
Plus they are not only in burial chambers either. Those can be found inside of or just outside of towers too.
I haven't seen any mountain towers yet
I'll go looking to a further away from spawn mountain later
Thats odd. I typically see far more towers than I do caves. Plus there are the wood structures, but those are only good for onions, not Moder locations.
I have a mountain about 3000 meters from spawn, maybe it will have some more points of interests. (still the spawn island interestingly enough)
I've already raided 2 mountains out of all the silver and obsidian, the onion seeds I've found earlier than I killed bonemass too. But those mountains only had a cave each and a house. Quite poor
Yeah, my current solo has a real nice mountain on my spawn island. Fortunately I built my base next to the Black Forest, in which that mountain is in the middle of. So it made getting silver real easy.
Similar case to my current base
I might move my base again after defeating moder, but I am not sure about it cause I already spent a lot of time on my current place
Plains is a good place to move to, since you have to farm those crops in the plains.
I might move to the meadows next to my closest plains biome on my starter island. It also borders a swamp and a mountain.
Nice. Sounds like a great location to get a lot of mats easily.
In my solo, I put my plains farm/base right next to Mistlands. A mountain is close by too.
I'm still looking for Yag, so haven't done a lot in the Mistlands yet.
I've only had a glimpse at the structure from far away, but I am quite sure I've seen the yagluth altar. Might sail there later just to check it out.
I will be happy if it is
Spotting it while sailing is the most common way I find it.
I've just been going real slow with my solo, since I spend most of my time playing Valheim with my wife.
That must be really nice. I am enjoying myself playing solo very much, I could not say the same for something like minecraft for example.
I have found a perfect spot on my "forever"-world. A small strip of Meadows with a small harbour to the sea on the south side. East is Black Forest. West is Plains. NW is Swamp. North is a huge Moder mountain. Perfect spot.
Certainly sounds perfect.
It really is. And beautiful to boot.
My wifes and I's base is in a Draugr Village we restored. Its at the base of a nice mountain, with a swamp nearby, with a BF between the swamp and the mountain. So pretty good.
That is a nice spot as well. There was originally a Draugr village on that very spot in my world as well. 😉
Its our first time using one as our main base. It works pretty well, but I prefer building mine from the ground up.
Oh, I tore down most of it, and only kept one small A frame and a rear part of one of the bigger houses. All the other houses were razed.
The good part was, that I didn't have to do much hoeing, as the place was mostly flat already.
Thats what I should have done, but we wanted to give this lay out a try.
It's certainly not bad if you spread your stuff over many houses. Like workshop in one house, living in another. Kitchen in a third. Storage wherever. 😄
It had the two main buildings plus 4 other buildings, and a tower.
I do like the village look.
It was pretty solid until we got into the Mistlands. Then I had to start expanding buildings to make room for the black forge, etc...
Yep. I had to build a complete tower for that stuff.
Normally I make one big house in which I can fit everything.
Black marble mage tower ftw.
Yes, I tend to do that as well, but with Mistlands I had to add that mage tower. Building it out of black marble instead of the regular wood and stone I use gave it and the Mistlands forge and Galdr table a nice look.
I have another house where I put these just on the second floor. It's just not the same vibe if they're sitting in a wooden attic instead of that ominous black marble tower.
I've moved to the Mistlands in two, maybe 3, of my previous play throughs.
Na... not for me. I like Mistlands... But I don't want to deal with Gjalls all the time. 😛
Ok, once you have the shield generator that helps a bit...
Yeah, they do like to show up a lot, aside from any raids.
Exactly. And they're totally capable of ruining your nice build.
Black marble holds up really well. Plus I have a good bow skill.
I use it enough I am at least over 60 by the time I get to the Mistlands. I used to use bows a lot more, but prefer getting my melee skills higher.
Wow... I only ever had my sword skill once over sixty. Never anything else. I tend to die too often. Mostly because of stupid decisions I make. 😉
Yeah, I used to die a lot. I've gotten a lot smarter. 😄
😄
Yeah, my reflexes just suck, and even though I may have become much smarter about the game, I also have become a lot more reckless. 😄
"Just one more whack, come on... oh... dead..."
I aid on the side of caution more than ever. It sucks recovering all those skill points you lose. Especially since I tend to get at least 4 into the 90's by the time I land in the Ashlands. Then I have at least 4 more above 50.
Yeah... that's like... NEVEREVER going to happen to me. 😉
Well, like I said, I used to die a lot.
I am usually cautious, except for that stupid moment where I think I can do it and then... I couldn't.
Well, I do have over 5000 hours learning those lessons. Can't say I learned fast.
Like health down to 10%, and you have a one star seeker in front of you whose health is also pretty low. And you think you can beat it with one more hit. Nope. Doesn't work.
Yeah. Patience. You have to be patient. 😄
Oh... I am... 😄 Just... sometimes not. 😄
See, thats the trick. You have to always be patient.
I'm kind of having to learn a new level of it with Ashlands. The constant fighting makes me lose my patience.
I probably have over 2000 hours in this game... and I'm taking it VERY slowly... But yeah... sometimes my "aggressive negotiations" are detrimental to the whole outcome... 😉
Ashlands... isn't really that bad. I think.
I still managed to do well last time. Only died 3 times, and two of those were against Fader.
Once you've cleaned a lot of those spawners it sometimes can even become serene.
Oh, I died A LOT more.
Like... A LOT.
You have to be able to hang out in those cleared areas. You can't do much of that until you've cleared enough fortress' and gathered plenty of Flametal.
At least this time we landed right on top of Fader. So just need the bells.
Carapace is already pretty ok in my book, and I usually go for the Asksvin set for added maneuvrability(sp?).
Asksvin has about the same armour value as Carapace.
Just need the Flametal shield and Nidhögg and I'm good.
I go heavy every time. I'm not hung up on the movement like so many appear to be. I move just fine, and fast. Of course run and jump are two of the skills I always get to 100, eventually. Then the meads make you even more super human.
Wow... again... I can't get nothing over sixty except maybe sword...
And I do like heavy armor myself.
But especially in Ashlands I need the added speed due to the larger attack groups.
Like I said, I did die alot. It wasn't until I focused on doing Zero Death Runs, back when plains was the last biome, that I stopped dying much, if at all. I've almost got to Fader last time without dying.
Na... can't do that. I couldn't bring myself to delete and start all over just because of a stupid death (probably due to a troll smashing me to a pulp).
I like Valheim a lot, but this would be too much of an ordeal to me.
I didn't stop playing because I died. I just kept going as practice for the next time.
Now I usually, but not always, don't die until I am at least in the Mistlands.
Yeah, I usually make it to Swamps, before I die the first time.
A good start.
They usually are. 😄
😄
And that's why I can't go for zero death runs.
Because I know I will make a stupid mistake.
Like the only times it isn't is like when a 2 star charred warrior comes up behind you and whacks you while your fighting other stuff.
Yeah, they come out during the day. Unlike other biomes.
I've found out that I could block a two star warrior even with Asksvin armor when you use the Flamemetal tower shield.
Finally found out Morgen are also starred a few days ago. Been very lucky before then, I guess.
they can only be starred at their one-time spawn points
so they're harder to find than most starred enemies
What are those? How do you identify those points?
putrid holes and some ashlands ruins can have morgens spawned in them
Cleared plenty of Putrid Holes, with no starred Morgens. So guess I found a ruin, since it was outside.
Fought a couple 1 stars but only one 2 star ever
Only ever found one one star Morgen.
Yeah, I know how to fight them now, but starred have a lot more HP, so take even longer. Which is not good in Ashlands, fighting for longer times, that is.
and that was mostly a lot of screaming and abusing the trollstav 😂
😄
Same.
ooh look in the member list, is that a new developer 👀
Maybe, never noticed that name before.
I don't even know where to find those things tbh. 😉
They only constantly show when your on your PC. Phones never show them. For me anyways, just may be how I view it.
If your on PC there is a view to where you see everyone who is on the server listed, with the developers at the top.
Oh, ok... no idea on how to get this.
Ah! Found it. Thanks!
I'm old too. Married for going on 36 years kind of old.
Yep. 31 years and counting.
Once you pass 10 years or so, the time really starts to fly.
And you go... what? We're married for 30 years already?
Where did all that time go?
The kids being out of the house helps with that. 😄
I don't regret having them. Of course, it helps to have your kids grow up to be good people.
Dang. Guess you don't live in the US. 😄
Nope. Germany. 🙂
I've played on servers with people from Germany.
Worked for 25 years for the US military, though.
Kinda hard not to in my region. 😄
Yeah, my wife and I are Veterans. Never went to Europe, though, until after we were out.
I've met a lot of active duty and civilians who loved it so much in Europe that they wanted to stay here.
Yep. There is a lot to like about Europe.
It's not as... big. 😄
Also true.
Hehe, so gotta go for now. CYA!
Those that are burrowed and emerge from ground when close can have stars.
i thought random spawned morgens are also burrowed? have I not played ashlands enough?
There are 2 new.
#screenshots message
Found a yagluth vegvisir very close to where I thought he was, very pleased about it.
So no way to spot them beforehand?
They can spawn randomly and walk around, those don't get stars. Only the ones that emerge from ground can have.
Nice! They are often at least 1/4 of the map away when I find them via a Vegvisir.
Not really, they can have one time spawns also in the middle of ruins.
They're the same as those inside putrid holes.
Figures. I've only ran into one so far, so definitely on the rare side of spawns.
Especially considering how many Putrid Holes I have cleared.
Those you can see walking around won't get stars.
Well, I've also cleared a lot of putrid holes, so still kind of surprised I hadn't seen one before.
man i gotta stop browsing mods
It's the same chance as other mobs to spawn with stars.
Then I am even more surprised. Maybe I have ran into them before, and was just so focused on killing them I didn't notice they were starred. 😄
ill add that this is my first playtrough and i already added weapons and armours + QoL mods (build cam was needed)
It's easy to miss tho since they don't visually change when they spawn with stars.
I never use mods on my first play throughs. Of course, Valheim has been an extremely odd duck for me, since I still haven't used mods.
so uh any tips for mountains since i just beat the blob
Be prepared for trouble and cold
Frost meads help for the start.
There have been a few where I remember thinking they seemed harder than usual to kill. So I probably have ran into them in the Holes before.
I don't recall getting extra mats, though. Do the starred ones not drop extras like the Gjall don't?
aight
they do
Iirc they do. But it has been some time since I've encountered starred one.
Hmmm... I do usually play with my wife, so maybe she picked them up instead of me. If I even did run into starred ones before. RNG can do that.
though you're not actually facing that many morgen during a regular playthrough so you not meeting many (or even any) could easily just be RNG, yeah.
Just had some experience with that one myself with my hunt for a valk trophy 😂
I've gone 40+ bears without a trophy, so I imagine I can go 40+ Morgen without them being starred.
I run into a lot of Morgen. Think I have over 40 hearts just this play through.
183 celestial feathers. Plus whatever it took to upgrade my magic weapons and craft the galdr table upgrade.
That's how many valkyries it took until i got the trophy.
I got the trophy on my first Vlakyrie this time. Its only one of two so far.
Still don't know where moder is, but I raided a fulling village and got a lot of flax, thanks to the power of sneak and bows
But I have less than 50 feathers, after crafting.
I've got a stack of black metal and no way to use it ha!
Barley is the most helpful, early, since you can grow it to make meads, etc... I don't think you can do anything with Flax until after Moder.
I've got only 5 barley
you're going to need a bunch of it so it's good to start stockpiling early
ITs a start. 😄
Sadly hearts have only one use so I drop them since I usually have stack of them in my base.
I stock pile them in case they have a use in the North. Unlikely, I know, but thats what I do until the next biome drops. Save everything.
Same. I only start dropping things when my inventory is full and i need more space, otherwise everything gets stored.
I was quite happy i didn't throw out the stacks of blob and growth trophies when they added blob bombs
that does mean i have like 4 or 5 chests of charred bones but i just put those in an outpost somewhere so they don't take up main base space
I have to laugh at myself about it anyways. I have yet to go back and finish an old play through. I always do a new one.
Even after being in a few, the frozen caves still give me a fealing of dread
I think it's the music
They’re alot of fun, my favorite dungeon in the game
I still preffer the sunken crypts, they were really chill
I'd say frost caves are quite chill.
too chill, they send shivers down my spine!
crap I died
forgot I had the harnesk on and a cultist jumpscared me
I am glad it's close to home
or rather my portal
Hey guys do you think our old saves will be usable in the deep north update
if you didn't explore it there shouldn't be a problem
Thanks !
Even the new guy knows! 😄
I am diligently collecting the knowledge shared here
oh I've found an exposed silver vein
finally i defeated Yagluth now i can go tot the msitlands
Good luck there!
Mistlands goated 🐐
i took me to long to find yoghurt but now taht i defeted him i can now finally progress
I totally did discover a "chasm" in frozen cave that lead into a room that couldn't be accessed otherwise
more over, it lead into tiny lake with Tetra fish!
and also you can, very carefuly, walk on the side of it
I think the crafting menu deperately needs an upgrade already...
UI could certainly be better yea
Every now and then I accidentally create the same item 3 times instead of upgrading it. I don't think it's entirely my fault
It's really annoying
🤔
I mean yes it's my confusion. But the menu is just not well optimised.
it's old. it lack QoL. and UI design in general
I wonder if 1.0 will have some ui touch ups
Definitely should
I don't have any issues with the UI, but it's definitely very old school
In real life isn't wood generally waterproofed from rain with resin or whatever?
I'm starting to question how practical and even realistic this constant rain damage really is...
People finish wood with plastic resins. I have not ever heard of natural resin finishes.
As this game is Scandinavian inspired, the most fitting wood protectant would be linseed oil and linseed oil paint (linseed oil and pigment)
Flax is already in the game, so it would be pretty straightforwad to add linseed oil made from flax seeds.
And then the linseed oil would protect uncovered wood from rain, for a certain time before it needs to be reapplied.
Haven't got the slighest idea
I'll write a suggestion cause why not.
Done :), came up with a few more ideas while writing it.
I've explored some more moutains but still no towers, only frozen caves.
Resin to protect wood has been suggested many, many times.
Darkwood is immune to rain, just fyi.
that's why I suggested oil and not resin /j
Yeah thought so...
i mean we could set the wood on fire its also then protected by rain
When will deep north drop? estimate?
When it is ready.
yeah no pressure just asking
Estimate: after it is completely done and prepared to be pushed.
Try to hide it and see if you break out into song 😉
No 🙃
wasn't asking
Since in the last dev post they said they'll give info of the update for the following months we can expect at least 2 months ahead. But it will come this year for sure
searching brazilians players ^^
@near furnace Thank you that the game is able to be modded widely so that I can tweak it the way my kids need it to be (we get very fixated on certain things and without the ability to change the wonderful world to suit those needs, my kids wouldn’t be able to survive gameplay for long). This is the first game all 4 kids have been able to play and laugh, cry, design, build together and make it their own.
Please pass this onto the other devs how much it has allowed us to come closer as a family with a central thing to do together.
From one Dev to another, much appreciation and respect for how the game development has been handled.
logon, thinking of a relaxing saturday morning, "a foul smell from the swamp". Happy saturday!
Yeah, that's weird. I though you had a chance every 40sum minutes or so for a raid. But how can you get a raid when you've just logged in?
crazy! instant raid haha
Yep. Been there, done that. 😉
killed 2nd boss last night, put the trophy on the runestone, and instant raid today when logged in, my base is in black forest, 4-5 draugs killed me xDD
Ouch.
Every 46 minutes there is 20% chance to trigger any available event if their requirements are met.
Yes, but if you literally just logged in, like five minutes ago and you get a raid?
now I know they are resistant to fire arrows
Draugr are best killed with sword, or you use a mace.
I don't think the countdown is from the moment you log in, but from the last raid, no?
Could be.
It's ongoing, it doesn't start from beginning if you log out and log in again.
got my lvl 4 bronze axe
Ok, that makes sense... It's a bit rough, though. You just logged in, still not rested, not fed... "The ground is shaking!"
So sudden event after logging in is always possible if the timer just happens to trigger it.
Tough... But then this is no holiday.
This is purgatory.
Hey, is greydwarf eye good for something?
Yep. Keep'em.
oh 🙂
Lots of uses.
You will find many more, but do keep them.
You should've found the earliest use already if you have killed the Elder.
You probably have gotten fine wood and surtling cores too?
Check the misc section from hammer menu.
I tried not to be so blunt. 😄
A lox just destroyed half of my flax crops
Had to kill 3 of those assholes
easier than I thought it would be actually
Ah... the joys of farming in the Plains.
They're tough, but not invincible. BM atgeir is really good against lox.
No plains gear for me yet though.
The bow made short work of them fortunately, with some needle arrows
That works well too, as long as you have the space to stay away from them.
Draugr Fang is good for that due to added poison.
ah thanks!
i would love the fishing rod from vendor, but cannot locate the guy in black forest 😉
The sneaky lil' Dvergr bugger can be hard to find sometimes
Usually he appears when you least expect it; just sailing out and about minding your own business
I've found that I can just press s and shoot and they can't touch me
