Might be, but we know that at least females do go hunting to other biomes 😄 so maybe they bring some food back for males since they are guarding eggs
The plains is pretty obvious already
This is logical but when you destory their campsites the roof pieces specifically, they drop deer hide instead of lox hide
I mean since they are also on the same team, maybe Lox are what cows are to Indians.
When is valheim going on ps
But you do see them go out at night as a group possibly hunting
Sometime this year 🙂
Interesting
Now to the interesting biome, mistlands
Bugs eat anything. They're just giant roaches
Bugs eat other bugs 😄 + some dvergrs
and the young eat royal jelly produced by the queen and taken to their nests by the seekers
Theres my answer lol
But whats there to hunt really
🐇
Hares are fast
so nukes are also out of the question
I imagine the gjall are scavengers. They drift around until they find some suitable remains, then descend to feast. The decomposition also adds gasses to their body to maintain lift.
The magic shrooms maybe?
And anything they can get their "hands" on 😄
They have bile bags to explain the fire
Now this is a good answer i think 😄
Could also explain why there are ticks on giant remains
Basically it produces a liquid that becomes flammable when exposed to air
i always seen the gjall as a tick colony that infested a Jotun brain and took flight, so in my theory Gjall eats soft tissue
Yeah, they aren't getting any blood out of those old bones...but they're just waiting for a big tasty gjall to drift close
also why they jump >.<
The only thing capable in their clan that can break the tough bones are the seeker soldier
And maybe the queen if she ever goes out
She has the capability to dig through black marble in the citadel
You do occasionally find jotun remains with just the ribcage so that could be a thing aswell
Honestly thinking about what that would look like kinda gives me the ugh feeling
Now the queen herself 🤔
yeh in a "lore" and not game mechanic logic a single tick could infiltrate in a skull without breaking bone, then the pressure of the whole colony would pop the whole thing, skeleton missing heads is a very good support theory to that
Just finished a sealed tower with a bit of cheese xD
While the Dverlerglers are the last remaining resistance to keep the bugs from overrunning everything. basically the Night's Watch.
The dvergrs are similar to the viking player really
They are there mostly to reclaim their mines iirc
farm, scavenge, hunt
Its a creepy thing really that most of the remaining dvergrs are confined to the surface and are now low in population
What on earth happened in those mines
You sometimes see dead ends with a dark entrance but you cant go any further
Well, i believe that the dvergrs we see are just a small portion of thir population, rest should still be in their homeworld 😄
Probably a serious tragedy like internet outtage
Kinda ominous
Seekers happened 😄
Still thats insane that originally there were alot more but now less
True, but that could also be just them retreating back home, not neccesarily being wiped out 🙂
Really shows are terrifying the seekers are from the perspective of a dvergr
Norse dwarfs do have the capability to teleport
In fact, some of their quotes do suggest that they still have a way to go back home basically anytime. 😄
Sindri from god of war
Unless they fall for my axe.

-# I see the private Skullplittur emote
If you like to give your viking PTSD yes
They have one recipe later.
Seriously most people's reaction after seeing a gjall for the first time is absolute panic
And I dont blame them
The blob clan 🤔
Blobs, oozers, growths, ice blobs, and lava blobs
I like talking about this kinds of miniature things thats not really important lol
makes my brain tingle
yeh it's fun, blobs are undead so maybe "dead is dead" works for them
growths though, you find skeletal remains around their pits
So they... consume? or rather absorb the kill
ofc, by the size of the ribs i would guess that those are lox that got stuck
Maybe just protecting their territory/pit and those are already decomposed remains? 😄
We have like a few more but I wanna go onto ashlands
Volture and asksvin pretty obvious
Both are scavengers
I'd consider asksvin as pack hunters
all the others are either demons or undead, no eating
THE MORGEN
I occasionally see them digging up something
And shoving it in their maw
demon!
Considering the skeletons at their caves, they sometimes eat asksvin 😄
Alot of asksvin
#valheim-chat message 👈 well at leas no eating for sustainance, but for fun 😈
But if we take game mechanic out the way and just focus on logically
Asksvin would probably be aggressive towards all creatures in ashlands
One reason why I find it odd there are Asksvin skeletons around volture nests and putrid holes but they don't fight each other.
The charred clan are a clan so they work together
now that i think of it even the player is undead, that would explain why you can't die of hunger
Morgen I'd consider its own kind
That i could imagine being a gameplay decision, since if they did it would be a lot less challenging in ashlands 🙂
We are reborn in valheim
maybe Morgen don't "eat" but absorbs others bones to build self
fallen Valkyrie would probably be aggressive to all creatures aswell
Maybe bring trio back and make them into animal faction?
2 asksvin are already pretty strong
But they still fall up against a couple of charred
Warrior and Marksman specifically
Are the ashland creatures considered demon or undead? 🤔
Demon.
Surtlings also belong to Demon faction.
Aren't they allies with undead?
Both are undead
visually speaking
oh always thought that charred and lava blobs were undead, my bad
don't think about the names of factions too much, the developers only needed to choose what had the right interactions. stone golems are forest faction but don't spawn in forests
right, i thought that stone golems were forest because developement-wise evolved from old mountain trolls
Still weird how the fully healthy and alive and green glowly muscular asksvin team up with the demon against the player 😭
Dev choices im aware because that would make the biome a bit easier
having them as a distraction whilst you run away and skedaddle
Bosses are a bit of a unique one 🤔
We'll get Eikthyr, Moder out if the way
I dont even think the elder consumes anything
But rather absorbs nutrients from the ground
well bosses are "summoned" anyway, don't walk around needing sustainance, maybe the Queen is the only exception but there the insect hive theory works well on its own
They had to be summoned from somewhere, though
Bonemass definitely doesn't consume anything. More like, adds to its collection.
mh, for the forsaken the field shift a lot towards mythical/mystical/demigod beings, at least a lot more than other mobs imo
I could imagine the queen tasking the seekers to hunt food for her
Kind of like ant colonies
The elder was part of the world tree yes?
eh... that could apply to anything existing in all ten worlds maybe 🤔
for the elder you could be right tho, i have to check lore stone writings, rings a bell
yep "The ravens say that in ages past he was a shoot of great Yggdrasil itself and a force of wisdom in the days when men and trees were friends"
interesting
that's not even a theory, but official game lore... so case closed for the Elder at least
Im not sure if this real lore but based on Embr's valheim lore video
But what could be causing the world tree to crack
How strong are the forsaken 🤔
oh i like Embr content, but sure she fills in the blanks with lots of personal theories (as we are doing rn so it's perfectly fine), but in that case game lore suggest otherwise
in official lore Valheim was "detached" from Yggdrasil by Odin, and the "cracking" is the tree "trying" to reattach... or at least that's what i got from intro and lorestone texts
The thing is Odin knew something was wrong when the forsaken started coming back despite the world tree being detached so the mere existence of the forsaken definitely had an effect on odin, valheim is a purgatory so odin definitely was not interested in its world, so this was certainly urgent when we got send here to valheim
Odin detached the world tree because valheim is a prison
A prison for the forsakens
how do i get my stuff which is deep in a pool of lava guarded by a fallen valkyrie
Asksvin
forgot those were tamable
yeh, a place of exile for the "baddies", and the concept that the "baddies" are pushing to reattach is clear, "exactly how" is a bit of a mystery and probably will remain that, at least i hope, i really like the fact that Valheim has a "generic lore" more than a "precise plot", i think it's one of its strong points
We the vikings in-game are both lucky and unlucky
We are pretty much dealing with Odin's enemies
But we are also in a prison
So in theory we could get stuck there
But at the same time its a challenge
A chance to prove to Odin and ascend to Valhalla
eheh, i remember i said this before so sry about that, but the lore rang a rl bell "oh you're the best of my employees, so stay for some very difficult overtime before going to relax and drink meads"
Still that sucks honestly lol
Imagine finally getting the peace after a relentless battle in Midgard
Only to be promoted as the prison guard
ofc, being amongs "the best warriors" would grant Valhalla for sure if it wasnt for this "mishap" eheheh
"ok you did well, you deserve valhalla, but I have one more task, beat my enemes to death lol"
Belinda Carlisle philosophy intensifies
I can just imagine Odin going "alright I have reborn the strongest of our warriors to fight the forsaken, we shall see if he wort- is he beating eikthyr with a glowing stick what the f-"
Valheim lore in a nutshell
"Forced into a prison, now YOU have to deal with the prisoners inside"
@hexed plume english only please 🙂
Leaving my mainland for the firat time. Path to the next boss is either over ocean, or through the mountains, and I'm not ready for the cold. Wish me luck!
good luck fellow traverler 🙏
Well, I landed, started fixing up a stone tower with wood planking, and while my back was turned, a bear destroyed my raft.
Luckily, I brought a forge and a portal with me.
always carry portal mats
Well said
And then always have a blank portal at base temporary portal
can you build those spiral staircases in Dvergr towers?
yes
FUCK yes
you're welcome
We now have the doors too. I remember when someone said we couldn't have them...
you got to decide between the dvergr door, and something else
community picked dvergr door
so they missed out on something else
Looks to me like there is plenty of room left to add it too. 😄 😄
Maybe. Depends on what structures your going to show us with new build materials.
why not both?
so you not seen those hervor videos and news articles
I have not watched the videos, no. I have read the articles.
@fast dome that's why we have #self-promotion
dvergr door had me happy for months
sorry, its not meant to be a promo. just a funny
then #memes-and-clips works
I love that door. I have yet to try the two new ones. I never play long enough to get the spare flametal.
but anything YOU have made, just put it in either channels
i dont do youtube anymore. last video 5+ years ago.
There are already plenty of videos on you tube about the catapults.
Its fun. 😄
well i have to at least ask, what was the other choice besides the door?
I also love the "Don't put your favorite item on a catapult..." videos.
Trebuchets are just awesome.
those are painfully tight, I ended up doing a 3x3 ramp, I wish there was a wider 3x3 spiral staircase.
#mods-screenshots message
I forget, but I think it was those long pillar pieces we find in the basement and flooring of the towers.
ive started using slanted core wood logs next to each other and sprinting up them for faster steep stairs lol.
oh the like.... metal reinforced looking wood beams?
No, the real long square piece, but it could have been those. Like I said, I forget.
hm. either way, hexagon door is better. ok im happy.
Yeah, thats all I actually remember, its what I wanted. 😄
Do I have to fight the Dvergr for progression in the mistlands
Have to? Technically no, but that's the most direct way to do it.
They have an item you need, but you don't need to be the one to break their stuff.
I see I see
If I do break their stuff, do ALL Dvergr immediately become hostile, or only the ones I fight
Just the ones in the area 🙂
If you don't need to come back to the area it can be faster to break the crate and run
recently I used a gjall as a distraction then broke the crate and jumped from the roof of a tower
They will chase you for a long time too. Much like the grey dwarves will.
So I haven't played Valheim in years. And I came back, made it home from the swamp with my iron scrap, popped some ingots, and then went to look at craftables and I just about lost my mind seeing 30 bars.
But then I realized, when you account for the 2:1 copper:tin ratio, Bronze wasn't much better.
🤭
Thats just how it is 😄 as a trade of we dont have to use any materials for repairs
yeah, comparable, sometimes cheaper since a bronze ingot is 3 ingots, iron sword is less ingots than bronze sword at 8 bronze or 20 iron
The name of that user is the first red flag 😂
whys that
Gottem
Watch out for GobbleDeez too
Any tips on how to find wild beehives or it’s just look around abandoned structures?
Yep. Just keep an ear out for the buzzing, and go find it when you hear them.
There is only one structure in the BF to have them, so its much easier once you go into the BF.
In that there is only one structure to even check, instead of all of them.
Honestly just have a habit to search any meadows structure as it might contain a beehive
Honey is use for practically all meads
With some exceptions.
Lingering meads, barley wine and most bog witch meads dont use it 😄
same, i havent played my save in awhile but i think i had like 20 beehives
it was abit of a overkill
Pretty sure I have found them in every structure type. Some much more rarely than others, but from the lean to's to the outhouses and every kind of house, I've found them.
They can also be found in certain black forest structures 🙂 but those are quite rare
Only one of those, the largest tower with a terrace area.
Usually has fine wood furniture inside as well.
Is it the stone towers in the Black Forest?
Yep. Once specific one. The largest one.
I need more beehives asap because I’m prepping for the swamps and I need mead and only have one beehive
I like to have 6 when I am playing solo. As my minimum.
Eventually I have 30+, because I explore nearly everything.
In my current solo I am over 20 hives, and I still have a lot more to explore. But I am at the point where I am starting to go into Mistlands. So it takes a while to explore enough to get that many.
Heck, I am still searching for Yag.
I need to do more exploring on my mainland area. But yeah I need to search everywhere to see if I can find more beehives
Because there’s no way I can get through with just one
I start making tons of meads once I get fire wine, but fortunately you don't need honey for all of them. Such as fire wine. Still, yeah, I want at least 6 hives, but the more, the better, since if nothing else I can turn it into coal in the obliterator.
Now that im thinking about it, you dont technically need to beat the bosses to conquer the next biome
After mountains you start to get into bit of trouble regarding your gear tho 😄
Eikthyr can be skipped to use trolls instead for mining copper nodes
Elder does suck a bit cause sunken crypts are the most consistent way of farming iron but you can still get iron other ways
Bonemass wish bone just makes finding silver easier
Moder is the worst case because most of the plains gear are locked behind the artisan table
Yagluth you can explore the mistlands if you're experienced enough and following your wits
The queen the drakkr is needed to "access" ashland but funnily enough you can get lucky with the spires spawning at the boundaries of ashlands or bring a ton of wood and feather cape and jump across the spires
Fader remains unknown
Yeah the gears are locked behind artisan
Even some of the gears in mistlands and ashlands require artisan table
Your best armor at that moment is either silver armor or fenris replacing chestplate with root harnesk
i'm going to be big sad if fader is another hard gate like moder is
Most in fact 😄 the best weapon you can get without artisan table is Krom iirc
krom / arbalest / carapace spear
arbalest will probably be your go to in ashlands
-# Ofc you would know that
Since most of the enemies can delete you without effort if they hit you
Hard to think of an item that'll make deep north harder 🤔
The deep north is cold so my thought would be we use fader's scale as a sort of resistance to the cold
which could make fader a hard lock on progression
Since fader does possess the emerald flame
which would make me a bit sad
you want to play oposite game?
DN -> ashlands -> mistlands ?
if you just knew what i cheezed fridays playtest 😄
you missed the part "just cuz im a masochist" 🫠
the TEASE
😄
I summoned my inner reverse-game-speedrunner
have you ever overflowed the game with build pieces to the point that you can build infinitly high due to game taking forever to break build pieces?
not vertically
ah
but horizontally
so you haven't climed 🤔
not yet cause there hasn't been a reason to 🤔
well
or queens fight?
🪑 gets those 2
indeed
but yea theoretically could do that
I like "what if" testing
What if a player doubled their mass
chunky player
I can kinda imagine fader's scale use as some sort of recipe for the player to consume as a permanent buff that resist them to the cold showing the quote "The emerald flame courses through your veins"
But still a hard gated item 🤔
So we are going to have a new cold thats colder than freezing, which we have already?
Considering that we also have inventory issues now could be a possibility but who knows really 😕
Will Valheim ever add another dimension?
Well, I guess it spossible. I mean, with Ashlands, they showed there is too hot for fire resistance.
Doubtful, unless they make the North a new dimension. Valheim is ending with The North.
Hard to say really, considering that deep north is the last biome available in valheim
Before mistlands was added were there already place holder biomes for the mistlands?
Yep. The spiderweb lands and then the surtling lands for Ashlands.
Sad to turn away from doing any more updates when the game is doing well considerably. 26k players daily is no push over of a game accomplishment.
Who is turning away?
You said Valheim will end on The North, assumed you meant that's all they wish to conclude with for content wise.
Biome wise it is, thats always been the plan. This isn't a never ending MMO.
Of course, I kind of always viewed it as Minecraft in some sense when it comes to updates and whatnot.
They have mentioned adding minor content after 1.0, but there will be a day when they are simply finished.
Sad days but like all good books!
I have gotten over 5000 hours without even using mods. So I have tons of hours to still look forward to.
With mods nowadays, anything is possible
Absolutely. Like with Skyrim I wouldn't even have 100 hours, but with mods, I have thousands of hours.
Saw a gigantic overhaul with some biomes, whether by addition or just completely working on new ones. As well extending the world, anything is possible in the hands of a Tony Stark
There are several over haul mods for Valheim I am looking forward to trying. So yeah.
hey do u guys know how to level up bow skill fast? im abt 8 hours into valheim and my bow skill is at like lvl 28(im on normal difficiulty)
stone golem in pit
or use the archery target
can make it go fast if you bind a key to a emote
Archery target levels up bow?
yea
Tufff
not sure on that one
but you can go to a later biome and directly convert wood to coal
You can also find treasure about in meadow's graves with wooden weapons ( like mace, axe, etc ) after you've already made a wooden sword and hit the T.W.I.G to increase proficiency
dont think i can make twig i only have 1 ecto
Easy to find, just more burial chambers or dungeons with ghosts
I just did it, so its not 1:1 ratio, 50 wood equivalent into 10 coal
yea shootin archery target is takin a longg time
If you don't want to involve charcoal kiln, the easiest way is to play with fire hazard on, build a wood pile then hit it with torch until it breaks into 50 coal
that too
that's how I get all my coal nowadays
just gotta make sure the ole house doesn't burn down in the process
yeah, I build my bases with overdimensioned fireplaces due to that. Hearth is safe, but I won't be hauling iron to every outpost
holy cow
honestly just play the game and shoot things and dont worry about what level anything is, if you need max bow level to play you’re doing something wrong, there might be something to fix easier and quicker than afk grinding on an archery target
Besides you have to hit 20,000 targets without dying AND make those 20,000 arrows to get the skill to 100.
Another reason to always have your rested bonus active. 😄
how do i use the fishing road? fish keeps breaking off
Probably best to watch a you tube video on fishing.
Its not easy to describe with words.
best way is from the boat. Sit at the helm after casting it, reel it in until it's almost taunt, then slowly paddle through the school of fish. If they bite when the boat is moving, they'll get hooked automatically, and since you'll be sitting very close to surface, you can reel them in quickly
I love fishing in most games except valheim. That is the most mind numbing activity in valheim lol
yeah, fair, ive seen better fishing in other games. favorite fishing in a video game ready set go. stardew valley!
Rdr2 has THE best fishing mechanics for a game that isn't a survival or fishing based game
Pretty sure they never intended to make fishing an important time sink.
Its mostly useless after the plains as it is.
REALLY. lol i didnt even know those games HAD fishing. i never played them ill have to look
Yea you first learn to fish in like chapter 2. I spent 6 to hours fishing in rdr2 on several occasions lol
true true, i feel like a lot of games add fishing because fishing and it's usually meh
Fishing is very meh in valheim besides you get better food from everything else anyway so is more just a time consuming thing. I don't even bother getting a fishing rod anymore lol
I could shave gone without knowing there are starred Morgens.
There's starred everything minus bosses unless you have a mod for it lol
same, the only dish i can think of potentially useful is the mistlands fish, but for troll potions i get enough trollfish from fish yeeting themselves onto land lol
aaaaaaaaakshooally. not golems, abominations, serpents, valkyries... that might be it.
Yea the mistlands fish wrap thing whatever it's called is about the only useful fish food but is it really even that much worth spending hours upon hours searching for the fish and then trying to catch enough to make enough food to last awhile? I say no it's not lol
Lox?
Oh yea not lox. Though I swear I've seen a 1 star golem before but could be wrong
bats
starred shaman in sealed tower...
this concludes my aaaaaaakshooally
Do shamans have aphotic shield that explodes or that is just fireball?
Sooo, last time I was exploring a plains I was using the passive enemies setting where mobs only agro if you attack them. I am on my normal world now, and I proceeded to walk into a fuling village planning to take them out one by one. That's how I ran half way across a plains with an army of fulings and deathsquitos chasing me.
best way to get ectoplasm? i cant find any ghosts
Keep searching crypts that's really the only way
no they don't splode
isn't that dota's Abadon? 😄
oo and .. whatshisname. i havent moba'd in so long. the LoL guy with the axe.
except that one damages if you DONT destroy it...
in prefer the adult game.
Don't mind me stirring up the unnecessary shit storm
If I would adress this I would seriously stir the shit stew 😄
lol arite lets not. i dont care enough about either of them to have an opinion
both are good, if you can stomach the absolute top contestants for most toxic game environment 😂
imean thats why i stop playing MOST mmo's is icant take the people anymore
like ohhh sorry yeah i only did the most damage and healing and experience gained SORRY I MADE US LOSE
well MMO's are like kid's birthday parties compared to mobas 😄
my brain meant MOBAs' not MMOs its broken cuz toddler
😄
semi high moba lobbies is where satan gets bullied into tears.
you know, where people think they are actually good
the video game version of dunning kruger
hahaha exactly that
when going into the swamp at night I really gotta enable my monitor's "FPS mode", otherwise it's too damn dark sometimes.
Then I forget to switch it back and recognize it, when wondering why the game looks like crap elsewhere.
spose ta be dark its a spooky swamp
after coming back from when Mistlands wasn't even out yet, I gotta draw my anecdotal verdict in. Vanilla is really smooth, but the Infested Mines are the games peak spike in difficulty.
what about mysterious location, fortress, or a random assortment of unlucky starred nightspawns in ashlands
when the lottery goes against you, you end up in a 3by3 room with 5 veteran bugs.
i do battleaxe in infested mines, it just means they're packed tigher together for me
demolisher works alright too
I like to play with CLLC that gives up to 3-4 stars and those bugs one shot you through parries, but yeah that's my choice.
thankfully no archer or magic bugs
i would think a 4 star something would be a difficulty spike anywhere.
mods ofc change everything but have to discuss that in the right channel #mods-discussion
Have you guys found your rocky in your black forests?
thing is at this stage of the game you don't really have the setup to tear through those bugs and there's not much room for outplay. I mean ofc someone might have farmed like crazy and has tier 3 in every slot
2 star of some places are tough enough as is
I have played less in Ashlands lately and don't actually remember if Valks can have stars
i'm trying the Return to Die thing now, that's really supposed to clobber my ass.
ah good
2 star morgen is definitely a challenge if you also have some archers and asks with stars near you, I often try to bait friendly fire and die in the process, or sometimes I live haha
imo as long as you have at least a big of space you can pull of crazy things as an experienced player. However the mines crank you in a loony cell with giant roaches 😄
or in the end it's a me-issue
(skill)
I'm also the guy who NEVEr uses their "god mode". I just forget about it.
not even sure what you would use there? Bonemass?
while it lets you block longer, you don't get a higher block armor value, right?
doesnt increase block armor no
imean if ur planning on touching a 4 star seeker, dont.
I noticed in the wiki that there are no color difference of a starred morgen yet?
outside of mines that' fine, but you don't really get the choice in there 😄
i think 4 star seekrs is why cheese exists, i dont care for them
unless you are willing to traverse more of that amazing biome with a sight range to maybe tie your shoes.
well, that's a bid of an overstatement
nah I really gotta say as, ment as constructive cirticism, I really like all the biomes and the game becomes continuously better to being just great meanwhile, but the Mistlands really isn't where it shines.
Introducing difficulty while hampering smth like sight has never turned out to be a concept the customer liked.
the part where visibility mods for Mistlands are among the most downloaded ones speaks for itself.
Hey there's a scammer down in the fanart channel and below
what does he sell?
i appreciate the concept of the fog, it's just a little much. idk what the fix is, it clears MORE, it clears for LONGER, i like the mystery and pushing through the fog but can i breath a little, can't see and even if you could you can't move because everything you have to sprintjump up
imo a system to continuously upgrade your fog vision would be great.
Got him reported, should he cleaned up soon if any mods are available
Yeah usually happens every so often. They typically post in any channel where you can post images.
yeah the fog by itself is fine. Being able to improve the Whisplight would be a cool thing. it's the combination of the kind of terrain combined with the fog, that really can frustrating if you e.g. don't know the dungeons are like usually in coastal areas and so on.
or that really want to constantly pop like lingering stamina with the jump beer.
ohmygod... so im trying to find elder no map, i'm going SO FAR. i dont remember when i first hit swamp, i've passed plains, what's definitely moder's mountain, now it's just pure plains and still nothing, i keep finding markers pointing me further and further
is there a MAX spawn location for elder??
there are multiple spawn locations. In the end he spawns in the first one you discover.
that was not my question
true, sorry
but I mean, you get the pointers in the skeleton dungeons?
ya, and i use my fence to save the direction
its been sending me hard east for days and days, multiple BF biomes with markers doing the same
fence for directions?
ive got a full cart on my karve loaded up with berries and gold and what not, i found like 3 perma base locations, its been so long.
I still don't get it 😄
you read the scribblings and then you know the exact location.
yeah, for no map, when you click the marker, ti turns your camera toward the boss, you pull out your hammer and point a thing that way, then when you leave the crypt pull ou thet hammer again and it points the direction
Just died halfway across the world to a damn mosquito because my boat doesn't understand the concept of paddle forward.
That's enough Valheim for me today.
If it's really like an hour to travel there I'd consider debug mode tbh. While it surely conflicts with immersion and so on, in the end stuff gotta be worth your time.
That's a thing?
im looking to join or play with someone. Maybe start fresh
you could just teleport there
devcommands > debugmode > ctrl middle mouse let's you teleport anywhere. Or just fly.
But in the end I wouldn' let it become a habit.
Check #1024264966712340510
in Vanilla the root armor is so BIS
Bis?
best in slot
This new keyboard might have made Valheim too easy.
If armor mattered at all when blocking I would agree.
As it stands.. Meh. Overhyped armor.
Because it has snaptap, if I constantly hold W I can hit an enemy, tap S to get enough distance to avoid an attack, and without inputting again I'll instantly walk back into range to attack.
But then, I also added a macro to 1/2 of my space-bar that does a dodge with 1 input.
the chest's pierce resistance is significant, plus it doesn't slow you down
"Significant" -- If you don't block, yes.
root chest is -2% but yea it's still prolly the best chest piece in the game
resistances are op
Root gear is pretty OP.
the #1 that actually hits you are a bunch of archers not even in your view, even if you know what you 're doing. Hence why it's used by like every speed runner
but you can always have an elitist take on everything
What the fuck?
Ehh
Bows are OP but you don’t really need root armor to make that the case
Mask is just a weaker version of poison resist, which blocks you from using a high armor helmet
But harnesk is definitely broken if you’re playing on anything above easy
Pointing out the true fact that armor is irrelevant when blocking == "Being elitist"....
Ok?
Yeah, for bows it is a waste of time in my opinion.
The Harnask is the only reason I get the root set.
the + 15 to bows in the early stages of the game where your bow skill is a lil low is nice, but it's really not all that impactful overall imo
I was surprised that the combat update didn't address the root harnesk.
(Personally I do rely on the poison resist from helmet, but Thats just because I ban all the elemental resist meads from my playthrough)
You mention pierce resist is good.
I point out how blocking doesn't interact with armor.
You mention most of what hits you outside of blocking pierce
Valid point, I would have zero comeback.
You mention most speedrunners use Root Harnesk
Also a valid point, I have no argument here.
You then go on to say I am being elitist.
Why? What possible reason is there to add something like this? You made the 2 most valid points in response to what I said. Personal insults after-the-fact just make you look like a dick without cause or purpose 🤷♂️
what I said.
Helm is kinda nice to have for bonemass, but is irrelevant if you don't get poisoned.
Fenris is probably the only set in the game I ever wear other than the Bear set, and I only wear the Bear set because their AI is laughable.
Place 1 campfire and the Bear panics.
I wouldn't say their AI is laughable so much as you are just using their fear of fire properly.
exactly this. One of the first thing you learn with the scouts is to make a campfire when a bear is coming for you 😄
It is kind of laughable. I placed 1 campfire and the Bear ran into a corner and stood there for 5 minutes while I punched it. (bare fisted, it was the start of the game)
Pathfinding could certainly be improved 🤔
I often see them getting stuck on trees / bushes
Fist only runs supreme. 🗿
it really is weird sometimes. When you have the occasional mob, that runs aimlessly around you and when you hit it you get a sneak attack, like it never saw you.
I mean, that's still just you cornering it.
I didn't corner it. It ran directly into a bush and a tree, and stood there.
That's an intended behavior, mobs will give up pursuit if they haven't landed a hit in a set amount of time. This can result in cycling back to the player.
Because you placed a campfire near it.
clear case of game exploit and animal abuse
It's likely to keep backend pathfinding from lasting an eternity.
poked their eye on a tree branch
Resulting in memory leaks over time.
Greydwarfs have been pealing onions. Leave them alone.
no give me the onions
but that's something everyone experiences at some point 😉
i will light my memory on fire
Unless you're designed well hehe
If you don't play some kinda mage and take advantage of Queen's power, there isn't really a combat Forsaken Power till you've beaten Fader? I mean bonemass isn't bad, but since it doesn't increase block armor it also does not seem that crazy.
what should i do with all my black metal bruh i have way too much
make coal 😄
yagluth
eik/moder are also indirectly offensive powers
Bonemass and Iron Brooch paired together are essentially temporary god mode.
We should be able to make wolf food that lasts longer
like jerky?
h3h3
or canned dog food
I’d say Bonemass and yag are very combat focused, and pretty good
Though as scales brings up, personally I prefer eik or moder in a fight. Movement is key
I have always overlooked the 10% movement speed on Moder up until now 🤦♂️
So I ended up mostly using Eik for movement as you said.
interesting comparism would be, which one is actually better
i'd say eik b/c you can get same benefit from speed mead
probably
and honestly +15% speed from the mead is more than enough
Thats proof that 8 biomes were planned
I mean one could make the argument, that you would never sprint and only punch and regen with Moder, but...
I believe the placeholder for the mistlands was just well a placeholder, possibly thinking of ideas on what to add on those locations, until we got actual mistlands
To be fair it’s semi recent they added speed to Moders power
that's my excuse
Lightning damage does the stagger, but not stun thing, right?
but it still breaks animations like attacks?
Staggering an enemy stuns them and makes them take extra damage
Lightning stagger works the same as hitting them with blunt/pierce/slash
so it doesn't cancel like a swing?
It does
Hitting someone with lightning damage is no different from hitting them with like a sword
If you do enough damage they’ll get stunned, flail their arms around, and take double damage, for like a couple seconds
So, before i try to fight a fallen valkyrie guarding the flametal ore vein, i prepared some meads like fire and poison res, then the fallen valkyrie hp got shredded from my level 4 arbelist and level 4 mistwalker, like it dies so quick
Wtf sleeping doesn't speed up eitr production?
As in the eitr refinery production? It does, but depending on when you go to sleep you will skip different amount of time by doing so. I e when you go to sleep as soon as you are able to you will skip more time than if you are going to sleep just before the morning 🙂
Hmm
I guess it's just slower than I realised then
And maybe I also went to sleep a bit late
Finally got a feather cape
Man it's fun 🪽
Its not if you ever play a character after this and build up high, then suddenly jump and mid jump remember your HP is <100 and you don't have the cape on that new char
how can i use the devcommands or cheats in valheim?
You can enable them in settings.
and is there a page were i can find the commands to spawn in items for example?
The wiki for them.
thanks
That'd be funny
But anyway I focus one character at a time
It'll be a long time before I start a new one
Yeah I only have like 12 or so chars 🙂
how do you keep track of them?
One for each month of the year lol
They all have different names but with a theme, so I just remember what they are, looks like my brain is still somewhat working at 45yo haha. Like "Moon" is my fishing alt, have a char that is replaying my Feb 2021 world thats named after Odins granpa (Búri), then I have chars for different servers and seasons of servers named after Swedish, Norwegian or Danish seafaring heroes or Norse Mythology like Heimdall etc. - works for now haha. - my PTB & testing character I got as well, they all have a purpose so to speak 🙂
ah
so your 1.0 character will be named "Harald Hårfager" or "Orm den röde" ?
Good ideas both 🙂
at least I have avoided a character called Ragnar!
lol
the only one from the series is Hrafna-Flóki Vilgerðarson which I had to shorten a tad I think, actually don't know max chars haha and in player lists there is a cutoff too
if too long can't see it on F2 menu ingame on pc
my first ever char that made the first world is different from the naming scheme, he is called ----drumroll---- "Leng" haha
I think the same golem has been fighting drakes at my silver quarry for like 10 days
Should i go with full flametal heavy set or stick with 2 piece of the armor which is the helmet and chestplate and ask trousers?
think I might have a really unfortunate seed for these boss locations 😭
so far they have all been in the edge parts of the map
So many new people...
How long has it been...God I've been playing solo for so long...
jus found yag whilst journeying to the edge of the map for moder....
Oh... You guys are playing right now?
solo yea
Oh... I see...
usually a gaming discord is not the place for this, but now it's actually time to talk about politics again. The Greydwarves and Trolls keep settling their feud with the Swamp Crew in my garden and keep messing my stuff up collaterally. I can't be there all the time and the 2 parties seem to be unable to find any kind of common ground.
growing carrots in a warzone is just hard and causes more food scarcity.
hello all - very new to this game - how do i joi a server where i can see others in the world
Hey there...
if i click Community Server which is the option under Start server, can i still join other servers and my stuff moves across ?
Usually joining a server means you have to start fresh...
gotcha
Though you could enter one with an old character and stuff but you might get kicked or banned...
That character you used atleast...
in Valheim, you can generally transfer any character to any server (or local world) and retain all of their skills, inventory, and gear. Because character data is stored independently of world data
only just installed the game = not even done anything yet
Quick tip... It's better to join a fresh server to fully enjoy it rather than joining an already progressed server...
so you might wanna get your bearings before joining up first. Just what I'd do.
Learning the game through a server can be fun but can also be brutal... Normally you'd want to play solo first...
Mind you... The boss gets stronger on a server than in solo...
was fighting Moder and she broke an entire Silver vein during the fight. I didn't even know that silver vein was there.
More silver to mine then
more like, to collect. since the "mined" it for me xD
Wait, she can break silver ore veins?
yeah ive joined my own server and just running around clueless lol
Mornin!!! Up for some Valheiming?
just follow the birds directions or just go exploring 🤔
@near furnace May I ask you something?
sure
Thanks! Ok, when I use the "stats" command, I can see how much time I spent with a certain character in a certain world.
But when I try to compare this to the actual day in the world, it somehow doesn't add up.
I mean, WILDLY conflicting. Not just at a few minutes off.
it's not functioning
it was a test to see "does this work"
No surprises there, then. 😄
nope
it use to work, but it's not being maintained since the "proof of concept" is over
Ok, I must find another way to calculate how much hours I've really spent in Valheim. 😄
Since I'm playing mostly in the App Store version of Valheim recently.
So whatever Steam says is only part of what I've actually played. Ok. Thanks a lot!
I spinned the wheel for 10 different games I should play, and got valheim back to back
guess have to finish it now 💔
steam should be dead accurate tho
hm.................................................................................................. 🤔
big or small mac?
never though about that tbh. I got a iMac as a test rig
but never thought about the appstore version and playtime
Yeah, no worries. It's just me trying to figure it out.
you will probably be able to know later when achivements are added. then /stats should work 😄
and show accurate numbers
oh my gosh i didnt even consider that there are no achievements
Yet
the game won't have achivements until 1.0 is out
when an achievement is added later, does a player get them all at once (for stuff they already did) or does the player have to "achieve" them again?
we shall see
Scariest Charred fortress by far, like getting near it is insane then you just happened to run to a burrowed 2 star morgen
Literally running for my life
One star morgen are already a handful... Don't want to even think about a two star... One player on the Steam community called a 2* morgen an "extinction event". I had to laugh, because it's so true. 😄
I wonder how many bolts its gonna take to kill a two star morgen
It seems that going for a mage built makes your life a bit easier when doing fortresses, but you have to be very careful ofc
2 star Morgen has almost as much HP as Bonemass, but Bonemass is very resistant against pierce and Morgen is resistant.
A 2 star could probably just 1 hit you
Because if a 2 star warrior can 1-2 tap a hhs diet player with full flametal
I cant imagine a 2 star morgen 😭
Literally run for my life, when i saw morgen 2 star going out from its burrowed ground
Fun fact: every single morgen attack except the rolling one can be dodged just by walking in a circle around it. And the rolling one does low enough damage to parry even a 2 star.
And there I am, looking for 2 star Morgen as I have never encountered one. 1 star Morgen few times.
I've found playing mage to be much more survivable than melee personally. That all your attacks are ranged and don't use your stamina bar makes it very easy to not get hit in the first place, you have the bubble staff to catch any one hit no matter how big (and quite a few more than one with high skill) and you have 4 skellies to act as meatshields for you.
And if all else fails and you get mobbed by a horde you drop a troll on them and run.
Do you recommend like maxing out the staff instead of the armor?
really the best part of any mage armor set is the eitr regen, and eitr regen rate doesn't increase as you lvl up the armor
Currently wearing full embla set
the defense is basically negligible since anything capable of being a serious melee threat (morgen and valkyries) will just oneshot you whether it's level 1 or level 3.
what you should do for defense instead is wear the bronze pendant
I got hit by a fallen valk spin attack and honestly that packs a punch
While wearing full embla
because all magic gives adrenaline on cast so it's easy to have constant uptime
yeah, you can take ONE without your shield, if you're at full health. But your first priority in any fight should be to make distance and refresh your bubble as soon as it drops.
On food do you go like one big Health food and the rest is eitr food?
triple eitr is what i'd recommend. The extra hp doesn't help that much but the ability to just kill things before needing to wait for regen is worth a lot
You can switch one for the Mistland or Ashlands feasts if you want more stam but any less than 2 eitr food leaves you with too little eitr to use magic as your main weapon imo
I would recommend EES food combo personally 🙂 since you will want mobility just in general, you still have enough eitr to kill stuff quickly and you dont need hp if you have bubble shield
EES is nice for a magic/bow hybrid style
dump your eitr bar at the start of the fight then use arrows until it's full again
I only go EEE if I'm in a dungeon / fortress time
I used it with just pure mage build 😄 and ashlands felt really easy then
i tried both and almost never used most of the extra stam so i went for moar fireballs instead ❤️🔥
though i am running the bronze pendant for extra stam regen
well yeah but more burst is the difference between stuff dying before you run out of eitr or you having to dodge while it regens
triple eitr usually means no kiting at all because things are dead before they reach you
Depends on the encounter
And i've found EEF to be enough to burst down almost every open world enemy currently 🤔
well yeah, obviously. But i can kill a valkyrie with the ember staff before it can get off an attack which is pretty decent imo
matter of taste really
Even morgens? I guess if they are alone it would be quite possible 🤔
Ah, yeah i dont usually count with sneak hits in mind xD
morgen: Spam all your eitr for wild staff at your feet, then run in circles for 15 seconds or so. Morgen dead.
Even the level 1 staff already does a ton of damage, the level 3 is just brutal
Got my fireball staff to level 3
most important magic weapon to upgrade
Is there an accessory for mage?
Found it, its the earrings that requires the gjall trophy
Any tips for getting gear in the mountains without js dying constantly whether to cold or creatures?
use cold resistance meads until you get the wolf or lox cape
a maxed banded shield and swamp-tier food can block every enemy in the mountains.
For wolves hit block as soon as you hear the growl they make when they attack and you'll parry every time.
For stone golems block their overhand attacks, parry the onehanded ones and beat them to death with the iron mace.
For drakes... don't go afk and don't forget to bring arrows? It's basically impossible to die to those with frost resist up if you're not standing still.😂
Its possible to destroy the door without destroying the walls right? The middle part of the charred fortress where the loots are
The middle tower
not as far as i know but you can use the BM pickaxe to mine through the corners opposite the door
Yes, but you have to be quite precise with the ram 🙂 going at an angle can help iirc
Mine through the opposite corners?
ram and precise... good luck? Fortunately there are 19 more if the first try fails
mom let me make a screenshot
I have done it in the past, but i dont remember if i angled it or just was really precise with centering the ram
Can you only use the one punch of the battering ram instead of both? Is that possible?
Sometimes they go one after each other, but you cant manually choose, no
Oh that corner
takes a while (about 3-4 stam bars usually for me) but it's easier than bringing a ram and leaves the tower intact for your portal
Or you can mine under the corner 🙂 that will be faster
well yeah but then i have a giant hole in my portal room
I DID IT! I destroyed the door without destroying the walls with precise middle position of the battering ram
Nice!
I always prefer breaking the wall because the downward spikes damage the Charred trying to walk through, so it helps kill the groups faster 😄
Now to built my base in ashland that will take like hours to do 😅
Did you hit the ram at an angle or straight on?
is there a way to lead boars
You can only harpoon them and drag them.
it seems to want to go towards the fires in my base that its freaked out by lol
wild boars will chase you. have them chhase you into an enclosure and block the door behind them.
yes unless there are torches/lights present then it will freak out
i just got lucky and it ended up where i wanted it to be lol
Oh, if this is about taming...
Tame them elsewhere with no fire and then drag them back.
are tamed boars still freaked out by lights or they should be chill?
They are chill.
nice
These Early Axes are waaaaaaaay too good for a starter weapon 😮
They sit right where they should tbh. Better than Flint but worse than Bronze.
A great addition to the game.
im assuming you havent actually tested the dps , they're pretty over powered
You would assume very incorrectly.
And at that stage of the game, everything dies in 3-4 hits total. So "DPS" isn't exactly a valuable stat.
🤣
This is probably why I don't mind it. It surprised me how good they were both in combat and at cutting above tier trees.
Earlier access to Finewood is their main advantage, and it is really good!
Certainly eliminates the 'break tree with other tree' process for the early bow.
That is specific to bows 😄
I mainly enjoy the +2-3 extra minutes of Rested Bonus you can get.
As I use spears until I get the Arbalest.
i pretty regularly find one peace but never both
On my seed, cleared the whole starting Meadows. Got 5 Curious and 1 Mysterious.
now that I think about it... you can't just craft one axe, right?
the item is always the "set"?
Yes, you need 1 of both to craft it. It's a dual wield.
Thanks to advice from this sever about using the right weapon for the right target, I now fear no bear, nor any troll.
Both at once is still an issue.
you mean you are using the campfire? 😄
No, I was using piercing weapons on the bear, and melee weapons on the troll. Not recommended.
I was more or less kidding, but the camp and bonfire actually just melt mobs since the dmg stacks.
Oh really? I'll have to try that in a few hundred hours. 😂
Only used that trick on the Plains Bears on hardcore mode :3 The new axes melt forest* bears.
well it's certainly cheesy, but you can trap mobs and often bosses with fires and just cheese the heck outta the game.
Sadly, I have found 3 silver axe heads, and 0 bronze ones. Plus, that would leave me without a shield, wouldn't it?
Yes. It's Hit and Run tactics.
Flint Spear and Campfires are like the best weapons until Iron Atgeir
I've upgraded to bronze weapons, and only use the atgeir for groups of greylings. The stamina cost and attack speed and lack of shield have turned new away from it.
Have you used the secondary attack of the Atgeir?
Against groups of greylings, yes. Is glorious.
i just get the abyssal dagger right away
I mean it always depends on how fast you wanna go in terms of what you wanna craft. The Flint Spear is just insanely good and Atgeirs stagger like nothing else. Hence good for singular big stuff, too
what it also so worth it. Picking up obsidian and mosquito needles while exploring. both easy to grab unless the mosquito blind sides you and the dmg spike is so big.
and deconstructing the goblin's bonfire to use against them in a village is also pretty neat
it is overpowered haha
if you'd use like "older" seeds like before the Ashlands update. Are those still generating as intended?
i wasnt going to argue with bro , he probably doesn't do much combat off normal mode combat
Early axes can kill fader

Maypoles don't stack, right?
I find it quite weird how much people get outta their way to build around that +1 comfort.
I miss having 30 min of rested
I just wait until springtime and build them as needed 😉 Plus they're cool decoration.
Why does my rested bonus reset when I log out?
So u can suffer
A number of things get reset when you log out, that's just how it works. Some of it is to prevent "cheesing" of various mechanics, but overall the idea is that you shouldn't log out unless you're in a safe area. Campfires are cheap to make, don't require a workbench, and you can sit by one for like 20s and get a rested bonus anywhere (except rain)
a number of reasons we as developers have decided.
since we don't want the players to be able to be scummy when in a dire situation, logout, jump back to another world, eat, rest and drink a bunch of potions. then jump back into the dire situation all maxed out.
well that also works in the backwards direction
if dead to poison, fire etc, can log out and escape death, same goes for enemy aggro, run into a fuling camp, steal some totems, put some distance between the entire camp --> log out and they are no longer alerted
It'll never be perfect unless they tie the characters to the worlds, and they don't want to do that. But they can build basic mechanics that make it less enticing.
yea fo sho
@wide garnet #building-screenshots message I can get you the seed when I get the chance if you want
Anyone happen to know of a place where I can see creature models from versions past?
I can take a look sure 🙂
what specificly are you looking for?
Just screenshots of older models of bosses/creatures
trolls without hair, wasn’t there an older Elder & Eikthyr model also?
do you guys make 'checkerboard' for farm fields? if so what do you use for separator?
Older Elder, I think older Bonemass (definitely old Bonemass trophy)
Yeah I remember old Bonemass. Seems like he was one of the bosses people struggled with. Or I remember a lot of complaining about him.
Troll, elder, bonemass have changed
don't think many others have changed 🤔
Was there an eikthyr change also? Or was that pre early access?
ah right. he got some chains and some electric range attacks
Chains and electricity is all he’s got! Was he just a big deer before?
almost
he did have the big AoE attack that pushed you around and did a metric ton of damage

oh right. the valkyrie that drops you off also changed
Oh yeah. I forgot about that one.

this trailer have like 0.5 seconds of old Eikthyr
The community for this game is largely better than in other high profile games out there, but server side characters without needing a mod would be welcome.
Especially on cross play servers.
I've explained why this would be a bad thing littterally a trillion times
play with friends. game is designed for that
not random pickup
or people will find a way to cheat
Gotta find some new friends that play Valheim then 😄
by the way....I dunno if it was asked before, dunno if the team is even decided on that...will early axes appear in worlds created after 1.0 update?
Yeah, even friends can cheat… heh
then you have wrong friends 😄
I can’t imagine them removing something from the game. The backlash would be intense.
Oh, I don’t play online. I pause a lot.
The early axes will almost certainly stay, but values of all that are always up for tweaking as balancing passes happen. But I think they're a high-work (and some luck), high-reward weapon at this point, and that's what is intended.
Maybe they'll keep it to just the people that bought it in early access, like the Odin set is for people that pre-ordered 😛
I think there should be instead, a small chance to generate the item in each chest rather than only in certain ruins.
yes they will
Thanks
Oh I agree. It's because of the way the game is designed that we don't see that many toxic or cheating players, especially since every server goes by its own rules.
I was never a fan of public servers myself.
Serverside characters could also be beneficial on a non-public friends-only server though
For instance no more losing items/graves due to a disconnect/crash in an unfortunate moment
Or spawning miles away from your boat after a crash/disconnect
Agree. I’ve never run a server without it… a lot of folks simply won’t play a server without it. Sure, in a perfect world, play with friends… but some folks don’t have enough friends that can regularly meet up. Some are more casual than what you’d prefer… and some people simply don’t have friends. lol
Found both yagleth boss alters before i found moder🔥
What are the dragon tears used for again?
Artisan table and thats it
But artisan table is used for blast furnace, windmills, and other goodies
I mean if you look at it that way
Hey 👋 I’m new here:) I just finished my second boss and about to go to swamp, what armour is best for it?
what armor do you have now? Any black forest armor will work well for different playstyles
Blue one from troll
perfect
Is it antidote is most important part?
I hope some day blast furnaces will work for all ores
poison resistance mead reduces poison damage by 75% before armor is applied so you take even less than 1/4 of the damage you would otherwise
could make it an upgrade for the furnace, like other stations
Thank you 😉 🙏 I have woods next to swamp, I try to find a trolls and leads then to swamp, so they can have a fight with each other for me.
Alr
Just remember that you can't do that with bosses 😉 They exist outside of the biome conflicts, trolls can't help you with the Swamp boss for example.
Hey does anyone know if the curious and mysterious axe heads are unique like only 1 per world or can there be multiple spawns of them. The early axe heads found in the meadows
can have multiple spawns
Ty
We ended up with 3 sets of axes and still come across parts.
I'm literally finding everything but wild beehives
Straight on
Olla, are there any mods for Valheim, ''They need to Work'' where it can approve the graphics like an HD version?
Try asking in #mods-discussion
ty ❤️
Uuuuuuh, how did I get a raid from the swamp when I haven't even discovered the swamp yet?
I logged out because I'm finished playing for today and I aint dealing with that shi
A foul smell from the swamp" is enabled by killing Elder.
Activates when you kill Elder.
Sometimes you find the swamp… sometimes the swamp finds you!
No, they pause until youve stayed in the marked area for as long as the set raid lasts.
It needs to finish while you're in the area
It varies from 80 to 150 seconds, depends on what raid you get
Sometimes some of them will hang around long after the raid ends. Like Just last night I was finding Surtlings near by, and that raid was many days ago. 😄 😄
hiii do anyone know how far apart i can place the flametal support beams
Iirc they have same support strength as iron wood beams, with exception that you can build on lava with flametal beams.
You have surtlings lurking near by days ago, while me a ghost and a wraith lurking in broad day light 😂
I love Mistlands
Breaking open ||jötunn skulls|| is rather refreshing after all this mining
Blast. Happened across my first Levithian. Got 16 chiten before it dived. I should have taken one or two more swings.
Actualy, more upset that it wasn't a cool island for a base.
honestly one of my favorite and most sastifying things to do
Speaking of those things, used up all my refined on upgrading my mage gear and weap, time to get more
I noticed that after some time, if you stop checking your sap extractors and you only often visit mistlands, the process will be slower?
my experience with sap extractors anyway is that the trees replenish their sap supply about as fast as 1 extractor can extract it. someone with more nerd power can correct me hopefully but i think they have a "tank" of 20 or 30 and you can throw 2 or 3 extractors on and drain it dry and fill the extractors but then you're getting 1 extractor worth after that with all 3 collectively. never had the tree speed up or slow down based on how often i went to it.
hey folks is the 1.0 dropping this year? asking cuz me and the boys want to finish the world before the 1.0
We don't know
I think they mentioned the Deep North release will be 1.0? I say it as a question because 1) I swear I read it somewhere but cannot find where and 2) don't wanna be spreading nonsense/hype/false hope.
Your right. Its the 1.0 release.
We just don't know when it will be ready for release.
I feel like it's a reasonable expectation. I don't think IG owes anyone's expectations any energy but it seems well within the realm of possibilities as well as their previous release cadences and public statements.
And I'm not just saying that because I have a list of about 5 friends who love the game but won't do another playthrough until it's done because it takes so much time investment to really do it right.
One of the early reviews - I think it was before they added Mistlands - was how complete the game felt even in pre-release. It's been fun to see it's development but I kinda wish I could experience it anew at 1.0.
I had brena raid in mountains
Except brena got stuck and never got to me
I found that skeleton days after getting smacked by stone golem
Is it possible to somehow reset the location of the Targovtsy? I just found a nice place on the map where it shows that Hildir and Haldor spawn nearby. But I already have Haldor spawned in another place.
No, you would have to start the world again with the same world seed.
Unless theres a command I am unaware of.
Took a troll and a bear to a Fuling village. 👍
Well, you can restore a backup from before he was found in the first place
I really love that the game has fights between factions. It Makes the the world actually feel alive
I hate when games have monsters that only attack the player and nothing else
the stone golem is my best friend in the mountains
True, untill its time to smash his head apart with a pickaxe
i personally dont feel the need to, crystal is found in abundance in caves
I dont like them running around and interupting me
except bosses unfortunately
I just slap down 5 and they all seem to be full after 2 days
2 mins of magic barrier lets go 🧙♂️
I ran out of plant seeds to feed the chickens then i realised i had like 4-5 stocks of turnips that i can use to plant them for seeds 😂
Died 5 times in the Ashlands today 💀 just another day...
do you find them all full again after 2 days? like roots generate 20 sap a day that would mean i guess. i always spread my extracters much more than that
Yesterday evening was our first try on Yagluth, me and my friend. We started the evening by trying to find the spot to fight him.. thought i had found but nope. We took the boat and went in uncharted area to find a stone that gave us the emplacement ! Happy we were.
Once at the boss spot we create our portal. get some fire resist potions...
fight for 45minutes but got obliterated most of the time.. it shall wait another day.
ah nvm its all on the wiki of course. they have a well of 50 and regenerate sap about 7 times slower than the extractor takes it, so you could slap down 5 and move to the next root like a locust or spread em out and technically get more sap faster cuz all the roots are regenerating
Went to my chicken farm to check the little ones and i looted like 4 feathers and im like "oh no"
so its now your arrow farm?
2 collectors on each root gives a consistent harvest. I always find a spot with atleast 4 roots in same area, if the demand for sap is high.
is sap used for anything else besides the extractor?
they have around 50 from my observation
so I just slap down 5 and move on to the next root
Actually I have 15 total sap extractors
Hope not
Sap is also material for creating eitr foods for magic
ah
I do, cause I have a mod that lets me plant Yggdrasil shoots. The "seed" for that is Sap
:0
is there a list of which parts are waterproof?
wdym?
some parts are some not, i want a list of waterproof parts (not damaged by rain)
so buildables yes
anything wood that is not either under a roof or made out of tar = not waterproof
maybe a temporary constant harvest because of the 50 sap well, wiki says an extractor takes a sap every 60 seconds and replenishes 1 sap every 400 seconds
that's not true
angled beams are waterproof
some other parts are too
wooden stakewalls too
I like to use one extractor per root and create a portal chain. Once you get enough extractors, they'll replenish before you need to go out again.
its considered a roof piece
though the fact that the angled beams are waterproof while all the others aren't just makes rain damage look uglier imo
at least in a single player game. resources on a server is a completely different story.
it's literally the reason why angled beams are waterproof though? They're considered roofs so they're waterproof.
the first mod I used was no rain damage
you're playing a video game
so i've made a fence, and it needs a gate, so i use shutters, but it needs a frikin roof, great...
me personally i don't feel like rain damage adds any meaning to the game / purpose 🤔
it's annoying the way it works
any structures should be waterproof besides some machinery/tools/crafting
ladders: damaged by rain: yes, whan an actual...
i mean... yes, it goes bad, IRL, like in 10 years
run the no rain damage mod, you could have installed it in the time It took to make your post here.
You can also use 26 ankled poles as "decorated fence" which don't take rain damage and protects pieces under it too (iirc).
After 4-5 fallen valks, i got her trophy 🧙♂️
I've gotten a fallen valk trophy exactly once
...
i have 2 and a half stacks of celestial feathers.
two and a half stacks and not. a. single. trophy.
😢
(honestly i'm mostly looking to see how many it'll take at this point)
the ashlands mage trinket requires the valk trophy right
well yeah but i have blood magic 94 and elemental somewhere in the 70's so it's not exactly critical equipment
also mostly run the bronze pendant anyway
fo sho, the eitr boost is nice tho
The root damage from the staff of the wild packs a punch
Dang, I have like 10 valk trophies lol 🍀
i couldn't tell you 😂
i mean i have one on another character but i'm in too deep to take the easy way out now
There is like 3 roots damaging the fallen valk and she falls so quick
also still have 7 forts left to clear so there's still plenty of opportunities
yeah staff of the wild is kind of bullshit
it wasn't great but it was still pretty decent for crowd control. Just not the complete annihilation machine it is now.
when do we get decent size boxes?
like chests?
Iron
you can get barrels in BF which have 2 more slots and take much less space
otherwise swamp and then plains
I love when the root takes form when it hit a mob like the fallen valkyrie
iron what nails and hardwood?
2 Iron and 10 finewood 🙂
not on this server takes nails and iron with hardwood
Since using like 3 eitr foods is like the best, maybe crafting lightfood meads might make up with the short of stamina
Mistlands feast is nice for 3rd food.
you don't exactly need much stam as a mage, just good management habits
better regen is worth more imo
Stamina is quite important for proper movement.
Ratatosk too, if you're struggling
Ever since i got to craft ratatosk and lightfood mead, i never stop making those meads
I haven't tried lightfoot too much, but I was a bit disappointed with Ratatosk
lightfoot is great because of the lower jump cost
Higher jump too.
the extra run speed on ratatosk is nice but nowhere near as noticable imo
I feel ratatosk is just a bit too good, invalidates a lot of other choices for me
If my viking will get liver cirrhosis from drinking too much Ratatosk tonic then so be it.
Who in here loves jumping when about to cast fireball?
🙋♂️ makes it much easier to aim
The jumping fireball style 😂
Jump casting is valid for not losing movement. Especially when using protection staff.
Makes it much easier to move
I think I'll have to try a mage build without staff of protection / wilds, I'm curious how it'll feel
it works well with any attack and some other animations like consuming a mead, equipping an item or using forsaken power
just gotta be careful with timing of jump + attack or else it'll consume the resource but you don't get an attack off
hope they fix that bug sometime
and with non attack animations you have to let go of movement input mid-air or you still slow down
Some attack animations are fast enough to land the hit before the animation is canceled so you can hit faster with this
I ate like a straight greatsword attack from a 1 star charred warrior with no shield, it almost killed me with 10 hp remaining
Yeah that's what I'm hoping for
