Getting stuck in the puddles and running out of stamina because you're wet and getting stuck in puddles all the time is definitely a tough part about swamp, but that doesn't have much to do with gear. That's just learning good stamina management and avoiding (or paving over) puddles. Habits which you probably won't have as a new player so swamp claims many a fresh viking

Like my previous few deaths are like maneuvering around angry mobs and then got caught in a small puddle that disarms me or think I have space but a near invisible log blocking me and grounding me between mobs
the first thing i do is say "arite where am i gonna fight you" when i see something scary. use trees to your advantage to position archers, bring aboms to a clearing without puddles to boop you in, stuff like that. thats all i can really say
there's plenty of worse an dmore frustrating terrain to come
Yes I am working towards mistlands and beyond because that's when i finished playing a few years ago
Not sure if worse than swamp, I don't recall mount and plains being so bad
Guess the new content have that
Where's a good spot to farm just feathers?
or can you even build smth that acts as kind of lure?
Once you get to plains or through plains you get ways to farm feathers easily 🙂 before that going through black forest chests and sniping birds in rain work very well 🙂
during storms or wind birds land on the ground, just wait for bad weather and go bird hunting
I am in the plains and running outta feathers for 😄
Hmm, have you found hildir or killed plains boss yet? 😄
I'm laying waste to one village after another but can't find the pointer towards the boss 🙁
That is supposed to be inside villages, right?
yes, and I got Hildir's location
Nope, you can only find it near certain stone/stonehenge structures
oh now I can see the issue, no idea why I had this in the back of my head.
but going back to the feathers.
I can buy smth from Hildir?
Have you looked at her table?
was quite some time ago, yes. I went to 2 locations so far.
Go to the third and clear it, once you do that you will have a way to solve all your feather problems 😄
she'll update her inventory then?
You will find something at the location 🙂
Dang, just did my first playthrough of BF since Bears added, little disappointed with how easy they were, but I suppose it makes sense given the trophy drop rate. I did have to kill a million of them.
That is a lot of bears then.
oh? ghost ping?
mr smiffe
you do not have to throw any devs into mount doom
gj 👏 morgan caves are fixed for me
How do fish schools work? Do they respawn? Will they always spawn in the same place or do they move around?
Trying to decide if its worth it to continue building my fishing cottage, or if I should build it somewhere else
They do respawn, generally in the same area where you see them.
I found a lucky fishing spot that keeps respawning fish.
So it might be a good idea to build next to one? Or mark them on the map?
Yes, either or both. One thing to note though: I think fish count as creatures in the game, so you can't spawnproof your area. Build far enough back that your portal/workbench won't block the spawns.
That would explain why there's never fish near my home
Even campfires can stop fish from spawning.
Campfires stop everything from spawning
Yes, and no. There has been a lot of bugs, specially in the mountains as Hatchlings and Golems kept spawning in areas packed with campfires.
Is the spawn proof area like a ball around the campfire or like a giant cylinder with a vertical limit?
heck yeah!
A ball / 3D bubble unless im all wrong
ball iirc
Just wanna say thank you/devs it was probably my least favorite thing in the entire game
Could be why drakes still spawn 🤔
They spawn above the bubble
They spawn on ground or near it before they take off.
now find something new that anoys you, so we can focus that thing down 😛
j/k
🤔 i think my last big grudge with the game is the lack of true difficulty modifiers but that's a HUGE ask
Tried fire hazard enabled? That can spice up the game until you get stone. We used it, I loved it.. had to turn it off cause someone went nuts during a raid, he chose fire arrows.
possibly 🤔
but it's not really the challenge i'm looking for
it's different, just not for me
True difficulty? 🤔
If the current avaliable settings don't do the trick, or no-tombstone, no portal, no map etc then its mods.
Stuff more than just number changes
like NG+ with new mobs, new move-sets, new stuff?
yea
which is why i say huge effort required for that to happen.
and I don't expect it to either
ah right
I agree we need lava necks that just spew fire like a flamethrower
I mean.. who knows what happens after 1.0
would it be possible to have a random starting point? like sure the seed would have the alters in center. but the characters could spawn anywhere outside of mists/ashlands. bonus to start with no map
with mods probably
valheim tho is pretty much based that you start at the starting temple 😄
why would you want to spawn somewhere else?
The world will freeze.. i can smell it.
challenge, it'd be far harder to get going if you're desperate to stay alive 😄
Uh the game would be insane if you start at Ashlands or Mistlands or anywhere actually except Meadows
Especially spawning at Ocean would be bad
i don't think it would be hard to assign a min altitude so you always start on land. and then limit the distance from center to reduce chances of mistlands, and totally block ashlands, or deep north.
Why would you want to start in the mountains or plains? Nasty things would happen
I think an escape ashlands starting with nothing challenge would be cool 🤔
Theoretically doable too
Sounds like luck to me, so that you dont start near enemies or somehow evade them
yes that's the idea, start in a really bad spot, and have to find a way to survive. though admittedly mountain would be very problematic
World would have to place frost protection near spawn then, but that would probably be best left to mods if you start changing things like that.
And how you could survive the wolves
Sounds like mod ideas to me. The IG crew has to make the game survivable for the majority of players, not a minority.
biggest issue is not gonna be wolves it's gonna be the passive -1 hp from the freezing
would have to navigate to frost caves and plan accordingly
well. game modes are a diffrent story tho
I think currently the difficulty for normal to hard is bit steep jump, noticeable at least when you go to swamps, since no matter how good copper gear you have, they whack you so easily on hard. But normal on the other hand is bit too easy in that situation.
There is also jump on difficulty when going from meadows to black forest crypts. On hard that can be difficult, but not too hard on normal.
do you get the bonus parry dmg from your knife if you parry with a shield or you have to specifically parry with the knife?
You understand what your team can and cannot do far better than I.
Could be suitable for some special or secret seeds, a la Terraria.
it's about who do we change for
like
can the avreage player beat the game in nomap mode?
I'm not the average player, and I still wouldn't try.
Im not into nomap either. No portals is the way to go mostly, but is a bit problem when changing the powers, since that gets kinda tedious. And not sure about the traders also, is that fun without portals.
so. we have estabilished that a game mode doesn't need to work for "most" players
I wouldn't do no portals either, but that's probably because after 5300 hours, I have zero interest in game play being even longer.
i'd do no portals/map for the achievement (if there is one)
brain goes faster than i type
😄
I guess some really like the nomap though, i just read you can navigate using the stars...
It can be quite atmospheric I suppose, but probably still not my thing.
I like the creativity it brings, seen people come up with clever solns and in the extremes even making their own maps on paper / microsoft paint
Yeah i am sure it does open up new ways to play the game. Maybe I try it someday, but unlikely any time soon.
Playing without portals is soooo atmospheric in my opinion, since somehow with portals they bring you too much feeling of safety and feeling of playing a game instead of being in there. And then simply gathering resources and jumping out of danger all the time. Hmpf.
Doesnt feel like survival-exploring
The world itself feels a bit bigger once the portals go.
Play with seasonality and Riverheim.. genuinely makes the world feel so much more alive! Only downside is still having to sail to mistlands and Ashlands though
Yes indeed
I have 😊
No, but also you misunderstand parry bonus.
Parry will prioritize a shield if you're holding one, if you want to parry with knife you have to hold just the knife.
But parry bonus isn't how much damage enemy takes after being parried. They always take 2x damage when staggered.
Parry bonus tells you how much extra block armor you get from parrying. If your shield has 10 block armor, and parry bonus of 3x, then when you block it will act as though your shield has 10*3 = 30 block armor. Which basically just makes you take less damage / be able to parry stronger attacks
Since knife has way less block armor than shields, I doubt parrying with just the knife will be any benefit, despite higher parry bonus. Just use your shield
That's what makes great games even better, being able to change things up to increase its appeal to just you.
Those look cool mods. I havent tried any mods yet
It would be very unrealistic to block anything with a knife. Although of course Valheim is not realism simulator...
I'll eventually use mods
After 1.0. I'll probably get at least another 5000 hours of game play out of Valheim too.
yea once 1.0 I'll probably dive more into modded territory, really all i've used em for is small qol
Very wrong. I even block stone golems with Chitin knife
Another 5000? 🙂 Wow.
Yeah but I meant that is not very realistic :--)
I can’t sing the praises of seasonality and Riverheim enough!!
Thats true, but very doable in the game. Hence why I always max out knife-skills.
They keep my alive
They indeed look very interesting, although at least Riverheim seems to alter the world a lot
I heard knife is actually quite overpowered, not sure is it true though.
I may agree to that, yes.
I'm probably under estimating. There are games I was ready to quit with less than 100 hours, then mods took me into thousands of hours.
Building made me pass 5k lol
My played hours is misleading since sometimes i left the game on for days
Mine are pretty accurate. I only left it on while grabbing a drink, a package or bathroom break.
Dont drink and Valheim :).
Naah im just kidding. In fact I drink plenty of Pepsi Max (zero sugar) when I play games. And otherwise too.
I don't drink alcohol while playing. Just soda, water, coffee, etc...
Ookay. I know many people who do drink alcohol while gaming, especially when playing multiplayer games.
Seen them say so here many times .
I stopped drinking alcohol with any regularity this past May anyways.
I quit drinking alcohol about five years ago and dont intend to drink the stuff again, not a drop ever. Got sick of it.
isn't that an expensive power bill?
Yeah probably has an effect on that :/.
Good. Dont start 🙂
Ive lost several people to alcohol. Some relatives and at least one good friend.
And well they lost their lives so they lost more than i did of course :/.
Yeah, seems to be best if you don't start. I only did because I liked it better than a life time of narcotic pain meds. Then, finally, they were able to offer me non narcotics better than alcohol.
I did drink too earlier, but it got to the point it made no sense, since i didnt feel like i had fun anymore. Im glad I quit that before it got bad, since now I realize i could have gone on a very bad path with that stuff.
I had an Uncle who ruined his life that way.
Everything in moderation.
.
Well, five hours until store opens for some chips and cola drinks. Maybe Valheim until then... hmm.
I'm visiting my youngest son for a week, so not even playing.
pulling an all nighter?
I slept way too much during the day unfortunately :(.
Im not sure i feel like gaming all night though, but i play at least a few hours
I dunno if I've ever pulled an all nighter
I did once stay up until 5 playing bg3 with a buddy
Ive done plenty of staying up all night, since im kinda a night owl
in a few weeks I have a 3am meeting for work 🙄
Oh that sounds awful
US-->Thailand timezones be like that sometimes
Oh yeah very different timezones can do that
I met one American while staying in Riga, who started working at midnight, since he was teaching English to people in Asia.
Interesting
why does my level 1 bronze axe deal white damage to trees and my level 3 deals grey?
Really? That is interesting
maybe you hit a thing next to it that wasnt a tree
or 2 trees
Pretty sure it's because at level 1 chop and slash damage are equal, at level 3 slash damage is higher and trees resist slash. So it displays a grey number because the larger part of the damage is resisted
nope. it was a single oak i had planted on the top of a narrow hill. nothing else around. i also swapped between axes several times to check
makes sense to me
so whats the deal with fish respawning?
I've "fished out" a few spots in the mistlands, but the spot is relatively safe, and I'd like to continue using it
but all that is left are pufferfish
and it's been a while (easily 100 in game days)
Puffeerfish are fun for base defense, catch them!
(maybe not the most effective, but fun!)
i thought they didnt respawn ever
I'm actually thinking about using them for hares
Took a bear to the swamp to help me kill an abomination UwU 🐻
I do. You have to saturate the ground but they work.
there's a spot near my preferred extractor roots that I perch on and hunt while I wait and I;ve noticed the bunnies often come up and over and around a particular stretch of rock
it's like a pathing thing, but the rock is in the way, so they always skirt around the bottom
Sounds perfect.
just putting spikes here and there gets a lot of rabbit kills too
whenever i make a base in an abandoned dverger tower there's bunny offerings every day
yeah it gets a lot of me kills too haha
kiting lox and deathsquitos helps
Best to use all methods to maximize the numbers of stacks.
yeah I finally found the queen vegvisir last night so I'm prepping for when my friend is available for combat
it took 8 or so mines and three landmasses to get
AHHHHH FUCKIN BATS KILLED ALL MY CHICKENS
wuh
That ive experienced at least
what does that mean
The event you stirred the cauldron
I like it just for the fact that it gets me bulk sword kills
It spawns a million bats who exist to kill ur tames
rip
It's like a raid, but it's just fkn bats everywhere
#1 cause of needing a second leather scraps chest
This time it said I stirred the cauldron, but I couldn't find the bats
Good news, I'm cooking chicken
Who let bro cook
has anyone played this windrose game? trying to figure out if the building system has more than just 90 degree rotations
Interesting game. Thanks for the tip.
Might be better ask in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202174832729661470 since this one is for Valheim discussions, General for more varied discussions. 👍
But to reply, it seems interesting.
It says if you play the demo, you get an exclusive spyglass for when the EA launches
i can kill a bear but its so slow, is she weak to anything?
I used a sword and its a little faster
Neutral to slash, weak to fire.
unfortunate combo
Sword secondary attack was bit faster than lets say axe
New Early axes is quite fast per my testing.
how about Amboniation tree things?
Oh yeah I havent found the Early Axes
btw whats early axes? and is it related to mysterious axe head?
Actually similar as bear.
roger
Meadows tier dual axes that can chop oak and birch trees.
You need 2 different axe heads which require exploring certain wooden ruins around meadows.
ah interesting
Early Axes is a new addition to the game. It was added early this month when they released a five year celebratory patch.
so Curious Axe head is only 1/2 ?
Yeah you need one mysterious and one curious axe head to craft Early axes.
Here is clip of them in action against bear while having meadows tier equipment and foods: #memes-and-clips message
wellp. max early axes vs hard bone mass took ALMOST the entire durability of them to kill him but worked well enough XD
Meanwhile once tested with 3 quality bear paws that broke while 1/5 HP remained.
huh. id be interested to know the durabilities of the two. what was your fists level?
and was this normal or hard bonemass?
Normal and the test character had the level around 30-35 iirc.
Also with bear armor.
i was 65 axes, q4 earlys are 325 durability
oh i was NOT in bear armor so thats another factor... dangit so complicated
were they q4 paws??? their durability is nuts wiki says 450 for q4
Quality 3 as stated above.
Kinda how it is progression vise if not going to mountains early.
dang still 400 durability at q3 im surprised they didnt kill bonemass.
Anyone want to play with me and my friend on hard-core mod dm if you want to
what value is normal combat.. i am wanting to change my worldmodifier from hard to normal
i have removed modifier hard from my bat file but didnt change anything
finally getting shingle roofing is so satisfying
It is a nicer look. Even the trim pieces.
ashlands is really not that fun solo, it needs a difficulty adjustment, it's ridiculous how many enemies spawn while you are fighting one enemy and several more jump in, it feels like a design decision to think that difficulty = fun when it's really more frustration than fun
water bottle
Bottle water
From what I've heard, it's already had an adjustment. It was much harder when first released, to the point that some people find it too easy now by comparison.
It's more balanced for sure, only night time is a pain now imo, the scaling is just a bit higher than the other biomes
it helps to raise 3x3 platforms with a hole in the middle to retreat into. You can safely clear attackers with a Demolisher from the inside. Kill approaching lava blobs, they'll only dent the wall in most cases tho
also works to have a few portals on safe spots, and then just spent your time running about scouting, only fighting once you reach spots with relatively few enemies still chasing you
I really love ashlands solo, but could be affected by the pre-nerf state
You would not survive ptb ashlands
Ashlands already had a significant nerf after ptb
*bugfix
That 🫠
The ashlands I believe was intentionally designed to have a ton of enemies since a war broke out there
But many beg for a nerf due to it being too difficult
So they did nerf it whilst still staying lore accurate* you're still going to fight a decent chunk of enemies but not as much as before
corect me if im wrong but iirc, it was relating to noise attracting literally every single enemy to your current position
yep
I dont exactly remember every single nerf on the creatures but for sure asksvin used to spawn as a trio but now only as a duo
Or a solo
It's still annoying that you're reliant on fortresses to establish a safe-ish base. I hope we get access to those building pieces eventually,
pretty much all spawns have been reduced iirc
you can always build in the spires next to coast
well, make sure not to drag asksvin to any base built on a rock
Or worse a lava blob
Because that thang bout to go 💥
eh, a blob only explodes once, charging asksvin can demolish the whole thing
The headbutt and bite does damage to rocks but not the lunge attack
Or make an asksvin breeder and breed an asksvin army
If you can get access to a 2** asksvin you're set for that area lol
well, lucky me landed right next to the mysterious location with the 2 star spawner in my current world. that was a nice "Welcome to the Ashlands"
"free" cores tho
2** asksvins are beefy with 2400hp and ability to do around like 240-300+ damage
Make an army and release them around your fortress base and you're free to walk around lol
In that general area
once you got a fortress, things get significantly more relaxed anyway
heh, i got a pit with 2 dvergr rogues next to my base. they already murked one valkyrie #screenshots message
not sure they'll survive the next one
have they increased the dvergr spawn? I feel like I'm meeting more of them now
I should try to find a healer and push him in
I don't like Ashlands for several reasons. It's just something I have to get through.
Definitely not a biome I look forward to. One I like to get finished quickly. The only one I like to finish quickly.
That was a big jump. For whatever reason it didn't show a lot of posts before I commented.
Only thing I dislike about the Ashlands is the lack of heights. Its too flat imo.
I guess its just another way to make it very different from the other biomes.
Swamp is flat. Ashlands is awesome, but some more curves to the land would make it exciting, cause you can see way too far from one spot. Just a personal preference
The swamp isn't flat. The land has curves, goes up sharply into other biomes. Only place that I can think of that the Ashlands has any curving is right around the lava pools/lakes.
I don't explore the Ashlands like I do all the other biomes, so I simply may not have seen all the variety it's terrain has.
That two biomes overlap on a slope cannot define it as a biome with steep hills. Yes, you can find slopes in a “swamp,” but that’s where the swamp meets another biome, 5-10 meters above the sealevel in a transition zone, not a natural part of the swamp landscape itself, like in the middle of a swamp without influence from neighboring biomes.
If you’re in a swamp that stands alone without a neighboring biome, it’s relatively moist 😅
Swamps are always at sea level, and they're always flat. You might encounter a hill in a swamp, but that's another biome.
Still haven't found a turnip in my particular swamp... but a fifth crypt! 😄
you aren't struggling hard enough then
the game knows
Hey guys, any ideas .. after latest patch server console show 02/20/2026 11:19:06: Console: Valheim 0.221.12 (network version 36)
But cant connect to server and lobby show version 0.221.10, reinstall server, update force with CsteamCMD - beta public argument nothing help
bro is right... turnip seeds are the hardest to find... worst than onion seeds which are in nearly all the abandoned mountain houses...
There was a Draugr inside the scrap pile 🤦♀️
not on the other side of it. literally inside the pile.
he hit me when I tried to mine it xD I was like "wtf why did i get hit when mining?" and then there he was 🤦♀️
Battleaxe, sledge or atgeir secondary can hit those enemies stuck inside scrap piles.
I see.
It was kinda funny tho... I never had a draugr inside the pile
I have seen skeletons and fulings inside of rocks tho. So i guess it can happen with scrap piles too.
It's not that uncommon them getting stuck inside boulders etc.
Me and my friends made a server and we got up to black swamp and can kill most of the stuff there, but now they don't play anymore and all I have is an early game geared character, what do I do
The iron grind never ends... I feel like I spend more time in sunken crypts than in any other place that has metals/materials to acquire.
sunken crypts in the Swamp
I mean, you can find some chests inside the crypts that may or may not have iron
don't use public beta
but usually we have to mine it
Right
there's also places with iron outside in the swamp, but very difficult to find. so the crypts are just the standard method
what is this game about?
places that you'd have to mine too. but there are hidden underground. like, you'd have to mine the floor in specific places. but we don't really know where those places are until we have a certain item that helps find them
viking afterlife
whats the main quest?
Bosses 👀
Defeating all the Forsaken in favor of Odin.
Does this game have good netcode
Good enough, it's not an online focused game though.
not really, in multiplayer the first person to load the chunk does all the physics then sends it to the server which sends it to other players
so your ping is gonna be like double at best
the game still get updates?
it's playable but don't expect to parry anything unless you're host
last biome update was nearly 2 years ago but we've had smaller updates in between
thinking of getting the game
ho wants to play together new world with some mods?
damn 15k people are playing the game on steam
Yeah and most of them are probably replaying the game and have over a thousand hours
When I played multiplayer (with one person a few thousand miles away) I didn’t have any issues
A lot of people do have issues though, especially with more people on a server
The game is still in early access. But it is already played by a lot of people.
Where's Haldor when I need him? 😂 I need that belt...
We are currently waiting for the 1.0 to drop, it will be a banger
So I'm early geared for swamp but my friends don't play anymore, what should I do
Not FROM swamp, for
Trust me its worth every penny
My friends dropped the game ages ago, I'm trying to convince some to join me again
What's yr timezone
GMT-3 or UTC-3, I'm from Brazil
LOOL he is a real one then
damn the game only £15.49
textures look weired
The game os meant to look like a mix of retro models and modern lighting
You can perfectly play the game solo. I usually venture into the swamps with lvl 3 Troll armor and a lvl 2 bone shield. Can easily block Draugr. You might want to make poison resist potions.
Remember to take the game slowly. The game rewards being prepared and being cautious.
I can still remember how a 1 star draugr took half of my hp with just 1 swing, while wearing full level 3 troll armor, draugr elites alone are very annoying
Yes, starred Draugr are still a pain, Draugr elites even more. 😉 Thankfully, they're not that fast, so if you're not... eh... "swamped" with enemies, they're fairly easy to outmaneuver.
True, i always remember before going to swamp that tool hoe is our best weapons against that biome
Hoe is REALLY op in swamps. 😄
I remember one time i ran out of stamina and i was on a poddle that is inhabited by a 2 star leech and i was like "go away leech"
Dang... these guys sting...
They poison + they attack like quite fast
Yep. With no stamina, you really need high health and poison resist to survive.
Great news guys - after 5.5 crypts in the main swamp I found, I've gathered enough iron for all the forge upgrades, max iron mace, max iron buckler. Have max root armor too so ready for bonemass I think... with ~150 iron in my longship im just glad I never have to go back to the swamp again.
Iron is needed later in the game. So, yeah... you always will need to mine it.
But also later you will find other ways of getting it.
j/k of course, it's just nice to have everything I needed in the first swamp I really jumped into.
had to cross ~100m of plains to get there though... Many oopsies were made
Could someone teach me how to tame askvin?
its the same as a boar just more screaming, i believe in you
Is the Ashlands better after the patch yesterday?
Yes
man beehives sure are unreliable
previously I noticed that they will switch to "need more space" after being happy
and now I knowingly left them in "need more space state" yet they became happy and made happy
with no changes in environment
That is interesting and strange indeed
Not trying to explain how beehives work again but people could probably tell you exactly what is wrong with your setup if you just share a picture
I tried it in many different places.
so I just conclude that it is moody
Something is undoubtedly odd with your setup, I have never encountered what you describe in all 9 of my playthroughs.
I had this in different places
first on a slight heel, that' when they were deciding to stop working.
now in boar pen, wher I was placing them on the fence and wood columns
no mods
Hrm... Well, I usually just place them a bit away from the house, but not too far.
Just a short stroll away, like five meter or so.
And they usually work every time.
You can literally burrow beehives all the way to the roof of it so you can just walk on top and easily harvest them and they will still have enough space if there isn't any structure within 3 meters of it
I am using 45 degree roofs - no easy walking
I can't see anything 😅
It's too dark
Why are 95% of the screenshots for this game taken at night? 🤦♀️
This evolved completely by itself. They kept spawning outside of their spot.
#building-screenshots message
wuuut, it's totally clearly visible
Not spacious enough
Does anyone know if its possible to place an item rack with a swamp key on the ground and then raise the ground or place stone tiles to hide the key but keep the glow effect?
Oooo placed rocks from the hoe would be neato
Ah I see now, mustve been my mobile brightness auto adjusting 😛
Looks like you have boars living around them? They could be interrupting the distance checks easily.
I just threw a stack of 100 seeds to a hub with literally 7 chickens and they consumed the entire stack instantly? That's not normal, right?
It isn't normal. 😛
Are you sure you didn't pick them back up?
no, not at all. This wasn't like this before...
same in the other hub
You aren't sure or?
I am sure, that a big stack lasted long and now they eat it instantly. I think even the first hen eats the entire stack.
That's most definitely a bug, are you able to record it?
sure, but i play with a lot of mods, so you can't view it as "valid". However not really a mod touching this...
and it just started happening now 🙂
Ah, well mods can have unintended interactions.
this has always happened for me, I have to split it and throw individual pieces.
were you able to fix it?
yeah, I stopped feeding chickens
I mean I can't throw each hen her individual seed
hmm 😄
I did,, its very difficult
part of why I quit
Is it possibly trying to auto stack in the chicken? I have no idea
Is there a way to stop branches from appearing inside my buildings? 😄
Theoretically they shouldn't, unless your floor is not high enough.
You can when using the "force delete" console command.
Otherwise, the only option is to "lift" your floor by putting stone walls under it.
oof haha. My entire longhouse needs to be raised then. not worth it for 1 branch occasionally
Ill just pretend a gnome is putting it in there
greyling
Someone dropped a bit of firewood while tending the hearth.
Same thing happens in my base 🥲 I just toss it in the nearest fire
since when do rockies poop little stones around them????
does any1 know around when steam will be back
Since they were added.
is it always or depending on where you place them? ive never seen it happen. ive always put them on tables i think, this time they're on a hearth and makin stones
you need two together, it's shared code from animals breeding
If you place 2 of them next to each other they pop out regular stones occasionally.
Two within 1.5m I think
hahahah..... god........ ok that's what it is. i've never randomly found 2 of them 20 meters apart before, only ever had 1 per world. they seriously making rock babies??? that's so silly
Steam down for you too guys?
Just regular stones, not rockies tho.
yeah
I’m writing this because I’ve officially hit the 500-hour mark in Valheim, and while I love the core gameplay, I can no longer stay silent about the state of development. It has been years since the initial release, and the fact that we are still nowhere near a 1.0 version is, quite frankly, a disgrace.
When we bought into Early Access, we did so to support an indie vision, but that support shouldn't be taken for granted. The development pace is incredibly sluggish compared to the massive financial success and resources the studio now possesses. We keep getting small incremental updates and 'teasers,' but the roadmap feels like a suggestion rather than a commitment.
Spending 500 hours in a world that feels permanently unfinished is frustrating. At this point, the 'Early Access' tag feels less like a development phase and more like a shield against criticism for the lack of a finished product. We don't want more concept art or minor tweaks; we want a completed journey.
The community deserves transparency and a definitive timeline toward 1.0. It’s time to stop coasting on the initial hype and actually finish the game we all invested our time and money into.
No need to put it in multiple chats
i think we need it. doesn't this issue bother you as well?
Not particularly no
this game felt finished to me when plains was the last biome, and beyond worth the $20 i spent. i don't know that it's unique to IG to keep timelines vague as to have the freedom to finish a thing properly and not have people screaming why is it not done
Are you happy that version 1.0 hasn’t been released?
Devs seem to put out quality content, I've been enjoying it
Personally I felt like the game felt pretty complete by the end of Plains, and then they added mistlands which was mind blowing to me. Getting Ashlands and Deep North are amazing bonusses but I don't feel entitled to getting them immediately just because the mere 1000 hours of fun the first 5-6 biomes gave me for ($20?) wasn't enough
Money isn't the problem anyway, I'm willing to pay $40 for this game again , my problem is that we still haven't reached 1.0 in 5 years
But I can understand that there's different views on it
Also from my understanding the sluggishness / small team despite the game being popular and profitable is just to make sure that future updates follow the initial vision of Valheim and doesn't get rushed / convoluted by adding another 800 developers
Which I won't speak much on the validity of since I have zero game development experience
I already love this game, and I think the developers have done a great job. My only issue is that we only get minor updates, and I don't see any motivation for version 1.0.
im thrilled that they already released 2 more biomes than i would have been ok with
they're actively posting updates and sneak previews of pieces of deep north. do you think they're lying or lollygagging about making 1.0? or what's the issue exactly?
Yes, I think they misled me on this matter.
Wasn't 7DTD 10 years in EA (Early Access)?
see, the thing is they HAVEN'T misled you, because they haven't said when it's being released. so "sometime 2026" is very accurate seeing as its the 2nd month of 2026
If we're going to talk about EA, it's a company I already dislike. EA doesn't interest me outside of this topic.
Do you think there will be a 1.0 release in 2026?
Think EA just means Early Access
i wish EA would just go away. and die.
they ruined all the things they acquired.
my poor westwood studios ☹️
I meant Early Access, not the EA company.
Please go hate EA in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202174832729661470 then.
lol was typing that
yes. yes. spreadeth thy hatred
i want to plant berry bushes ☹️
when are they gonna let us plant some berry bushesssss
puhleaseeeeee
Developers are not adding plantable berry bushes, but there are certainly mods for that.
Support the effort if you wish 🫡
I want a game that finishes as strongly as it has been all along. Not rushed and be buggy and take years to actually give us a solid play experience. This is from someone with over 5300 hours of playing Valheim, as if that some how makes a difference. Plus IG has been transparent all along. Valheim will be done when it is done.
I don't like desert/snow "biomes" so idc really
In my experience a lot of people don't like desert biomes (self included)
Snow is pretty cool tho
Desert biomes are really hard to pull off it seems. When done right, they can be really cool
Pun intended?
Dune pulls it off, Red Dead pulls it off. Not aware of others.
its all about pois imo
I've played a bit if 7dtd
Let me take this to #general
My friend, it's been five years, you know? That's Pollyannaish. I didn't write here in the second year, did I? GTA 6 will take ten years to make. You guys are exaggerating.
Had to look up a new word
I still don't get the referrence honestly
How long should a game be in early access for? 🤔
(in reference to Cyphers comment above)
many such factors
I don't know, but I know that a game that's been out for over five years shouldn't just keep releasing pointless updates.
how is this different than any game, in any state though?
i for one am enjoying the 'pointless' updates in the meantime
Friends, you may still be right with these arguments even 20 years from now. It's impossible to argue with these arguments.
None of the smaller updates have been pointless so far.
i'm telling my pet rock you called him pointless.
good new pet rock name "pointless"
I worked with a guy that made a good point about how physical games were better in the sense that it forced developers to "complete" or at least produce a better product, I think you may lean towards this @hollow lintel
pls find me @trail pelican :D:D
corrected
Is the sea biome will be upgraded or nothing will be done.. ? it's a bit annoying
We shall sea.
🤣
woah, nice
They probably won't do anything. 😄
At least having multiple fish in the sea makes it more lively now
The sea biome is primarily a mode of transport. Kind of hard to make it even more dangerous without effecting the entire game.
Floating ship debris 🤔
Doesnt even have to be more dangerous, could just have more random encounters than serpent/island creature thing
Dvergrs use boats
Getting some bit more dangerous enemies via progression (aka per boss killed) would be nice addition IMO.
They have harbours
What else could be added to the ocean biome that almost belongs to the viking times
Shark? 🤔
Most workable idea may be poi/dungeons, but even that could mess with scaling the over all game.
Dvergr trader on a big boat randomly navigating the ocean biomes, sign me up
The floating shipwrecks could be a nice addition to the areas of the world where mistlands could spawn
Me and toomuchdog thought about this
Dvergrs have harbours so logically they would use boats
Yeah but what could be added there without having to change how the game scales?
Besides, right now all I want to see is The North.
If they want to add such things, it can be done after 1.0.
My GOD my longhouse is looking sexy
A material to craft a fishing net
well that's easy. You combine the requirements for gear craftable from ocean biome critters with items from other biomes
Nets are something I have long wished for.
Internets?
An upgrade from fishing pole > fishing net but is locked behind plains progression
Similar to the scythe
Makes fishing more viable especially in the mistlands
One thing I would love the most is being able to get the merchants and NPCs into your base. But I also acknowledge its probably an unpopular desire 😄
Right now you can sort of make makeshift nets by building wooden baskets at sea level
Fish and bread
@nova shale how have u made a cave on the left side???
At least that's kind of already established with what we do get, but I'm still not sure on how any of it would be worth while without effecting the scaling of who knows how much other gear.
npcs I understand. But as it is its already odd that the travelling merchants don't.. you know.. travel
Well, Im biased because of Enshrouded. I LOVE making a base feel alive 😄
I think fins would be a great example of how it can fit a new niche
I don't want merchants randomly relocating
Imagine NPC vikings, that you can place that will do certain jobs, like finding woods, but otherwise idle in your base for living up the area
Holy Odin o'mighty
have you played Aska?
I guess just giving nice to have gear, but far from essential, is a way to do it.
Cant say I have. Time to google
How would haldor even move around in such a densely compact forest 🫠
Atleast hildir is in the meadows
meadows
have you seen a lox move, my friend
That actually looks like it could be for me! Thanks for making me aware 😄
Meadows.
Currently playing through the very hard combat modifiers for the first time and the Swamp is SERIOUSLY scaring me.
well he got there to begin with, without breaking anything, maybe he teleports
Haldor diggy diggy holes to get around
Dwarf or a moleman?
Haldor would have to carry the supplies on his big cart, doesn't help that he may encounter trolls and greydwarfs whilst relocating
If there's one thing I've learned from God of War, it's that dwarves like to teleport their shops to whereever their customers are
Why are we talking about a static dwarf relocating 🫠
Exactly
because this is where lore is born
SINDRI
I admit I teared up when... no spoiler.... happened
We ride them.
Im already aware
Yeah but maybe someone here isnt aware
And wants to play it
😭 video game trauma
is there a way to permanently get rid of dandelion spawns so they're not clipping through my floor?
Make your floors higher or dev commands.
Personally I like such convenient to harvest mats.
maybe I have been once again ignorant or paid not enough attention, but you stand in that stone ring, Kill Yagluth and then "alright, sooo what now?"
I mean i can look it up now, but does the game give you any hint at all by itself?
why do boars try to climb my cliff walls?..
tamed ones. their pen is close to outer wall created from raising ground.
andthey really try to climb it, especially when frightened
I think one time they actually pushed each other high enough to escape that way
there's something about tames
you feed and protect them--and the only thing they want constantly, is to escape
MUCH like a certain unruly ingrate cat I have
I put my animals in fully enclosed structures to protect them from flyers, and from being able to climb out.
If you have e.g. +Parry Window on your sword but whield and obviously parry with your shield. Does this stat even do anything?
that sounds like a mod
oh true, sry
is there anything comparable in Vanilla?
nope. its same window for everything
well parrying anyway. i think i just learned parry is .25 seconds dodge is .5 seconds
I mean like stats on your weapon not applying since you wéar a shield
it would use the higher on your shield, nothing adds or anything
the dagger's parry stats also don't apply when blocking with the shield, rigth? it's not like this would stack by any means?
no it just uses the shield
fyi theres a pinned spreadsheet in this channel with all the nerdy math and mechanics about it if you’re really curious “blocking breakpoints” i think its called
.56
how did I get skeleton and draugr inside Witch's bubble?
They most likely wandered in.
The bubble will prevent you from being attacked, not from enemy monsters moving in.
At some point they will most likely being brushed out, though.
Most likely they were chasing you when you went inside her house. For her bubble to work, you have to stay in the bubble, outside of her house, until they turn away. Then go inside.
If you go inside before they are turned away, they still follow. Abominations can hit you while your inside. I don't know how wraith are effected.
it looked like they couldn't find a way out haha
Well, like I said, the dome does not work inside her house. So if you make it inside before they are repelled, they remain aggroed.
You can even have abominations kill you while inside. I am not sure on the conditions surrounding that, because it happened to my wife, and I was in another part of the world.
Well, that was my first troll.
Did you emerge victorious?
It's not a fair fight, he's so much bigger
Shoot him in the head when you can. Extra damage.
Pierce weapons overall are real good too
Wood arrows not so good. Need to upgrade to fire.
Sneak attack his head whenever possible.
For a troll I'd upgrade to flint arrows
Don't have a lot of flint. Need to do a sweep for some more.
Yeah, for solo I think flint is better than fire arrows. It's been a while since I have not played Valheim with my wife.
Would it not be better regardless of the number of players?
Well this is specifically against a Troll
Against which flint does more damage than fire
yes that is true against troll
Well, my wife uses fire, while I use flint
I don't track the numbers.
My wife says we have me do the sneak shot because flint is better. She uses the fire arrows to keep him highly visible.
Plus fire is effective on the dwarves. Makes the lesser ones erratic and less of a threat while their buddies burn.
Which pairs better with defeating bone mass - port or brandy?
brandy
Though given I don't drink alcohol you should probably disregard my opinion and get port
definitely port, it goes better with the rotten fart smell
Just spend 10000 Gold for Barrel Hoops
all my money goes to the bog witch
But but megginjord
okay just that
Scales hates fishing 😭
Goddamn, what is the spawn rate on stone golems
if there is a fishing hat achievement in 1.0 i will catch all of the fish with a boat rather than use the fishing rod
heh, good luck catching a tetra 🤓
I found some on the floor next to water, no fishing rod needed
Poor guys, they’re defenseless lol
My second troll encounter involved me running back to my house with an elevated platform for shooting at trolls. Turns out, my house dosn't have enough HP for that.
Just tuck and roll. Trolls are the saddest creatures. So big yet so fragile
I kited him some, after my corpserun. Flint arrows, this time.
Now, to rebuild my beach house.
Do you have a knife or spear to try melee?
While I was shooting at him from the upper tier of my house, he came close enough I could stab him in the head a few times. I like the flint spear.
Sneak with a knife and then use special. Sometimes they trap themselves in the rock. Or if you have a fallen tree they like to walk around
I haven't worked out "sneak" yet. Barely got "parry"
Just be sneaky 👍
Sneaky can be good sometimes
Parry is good always
Start sneaking around necks, etc...
Sneaky is good every time you want to sneak attack.
Or you can be fast enough and get a solid attack in before they even know you're there
That is another way to do it, yes.
It's like loud sneak vs quiet sneak
Any word or idea when Deep North is arriving? I thought it was supposed to be around christmas 2025
nah no word
No word/indication it will even be 2026.
Just killed my first vile mob in the plains, didnt know that growths and vile dont get along with each other
they used to be allied
Yeah thats what im thinking, considering they are both undead ish race
Do I still need to start a new world to play through new updates?
Only if you've explored the whole map. New content always generates in areas you haven't explored
Yo guys just conquered an ashlands fort - do i ram my way outta here ?
Uhh, did you not ram your way in?
no, i hoe'd my way in to the walls
Alright so what's wrong with going out that way?
I can make a little staircase but wont mobs come in that way?
or just use the mistlands travelling method
Why can't you go out your lowered area?
I raised ground so I can kill ballistas and spawners first
did not go underground
Okay, so what's the problem?
Just jump out.
any ideas of what date the final update comes out?
Jumping out I can, but the question is if I can jump back in, wont mobs be able to do the same?
No you should be okay, no mobs jump really.
Cool, cheers
Any news will be in #news
speculation?
I speculate it will be finished before 5 years time.
@crude solstice it's a poorly spawned drake nest
it's not gonna be finished in 2025
Huh, I was just looking for that lol
Hello! Looking to get into this game, but wondering if there is a pre-formulated server setup with good mods or whatever that is generally accepted for gameplay fun and quality of life… ? 😊
Im kinda in the same boat you are, would you like to join a call and perhaps we can figure the shit out duo style?
No thank you
anyone have any suggestions on what to do in the situation shown at screenshots?
mister morgen pushed me straight through a wall into a tiny dark room
do you have a sledge of sorts? you could kill with that
Already killed the morgen cus he glitched through the wall. That's not the problem. How do I get out of this dungeon? Is there an unstuck command or something?
oh you got pushed out?
into a tiny dark room with 4 walls and no doors, yes
So you got glitched out of the cave correct?
You're technically IN the cave but glitched out of it
I am still inside the dungeon, but in a part that is normally not accessible
yes haha, exactly that
Yeah thats a problem
hmm, you don't have any fine wood or core wood on you do you
I have fine wood but I cant build because.. well.. dungeon
Hardcore?
regular
thought you could build a chair in a dungeon, maybe it's only the core wood logs that can be built in the dungeon
right, I could use /kill
trying to think of a way to clip out of the wall.
but that body would be impossbiel to retrieve as well
If all else fail /kill and find a way to get your loot back
honestly i'd say dev commands is valid here
yeah thanks black, that's a solid one
imma scroll through the devcommands and see if anything else makes more sense lol. 1k hours in and this is a first for me
The only lost here really is the silver sword and carapace armour
The rest are pretty easy to gather back
still feels bad to lose that to a bug
Do tombstone permanently float after touching a surface?
Say you die on a wood floor and you deconstruct the wood floor would the tombstone drop down or stay afloat
My thought is you could go far in order to despawn the putrid hole up at the sky so that the tombstone can fall
Because I believe tombstone has its own rendering distance
it does drop
I doubt a dungeon would despawn though. Seeing as the respawn timer of mobs within is a thing. But either way, imma first try go to 0 0
aaaand it worked, I'm back at spawn. Goodness, that was an interesting ride haha. Ty for the help guys
Sweeto
What cas could do is this
wait are morgen caves glitched for me? Is the treasure room supposed to be accessible after morgen died?
Its always accessible wether you kill it or not
The chest are just there waiting to be looted
The rooms are just randomly generated
how do you open them then? I've had 2 caves now with the treasury being in a closed off section
Look around harder, putrid holes can be dark you might have just missed the entrance to the treasure room
I've never had any issues with putrid holes so I have no clue 🤔
well lets consider 2 out of 2 to be bad luck then 🙂
i need help
where i can find folder lootmultiplier bc i want to change lootmultiplier
i use r2modman
You don't need mods for that. You can do this in the world modifiers before logging into your world.
Now that we have a radial menu for emotes.. Can we please get a radial menu for our hot bar? There used to be a mod for it (Equip Wheel) but it broke many updates ago and hasn't been fixed since
Question? I saw this in the reddit that some are saying the padded armor set is worth to used, especially when upgraded to level 4 against mistlands, but I would like to know what do you guys think if padded armor is worth crafting and upgraded to level 4?
I usually(!) upgrade stuff to level 3. Which IMHO is a good compromise between utility and material cost. Lvl 4 is really not needed IMHO.
padded is relatively cheap and mistlands is relatively hard. That said, you can swap armour sets to the mistland one pretty early on
Oh
I just check the next heavy armor after the padded which is carapace, it cost less iron
That's why I said, it's rarely necessary to upgrade to level 4.
The material cost is usually prohibitive.
And the benefit is negligible.
benefit can be pretty huge considering how damage is calculated, but otherwise I'd agree
I'd argue that sometimes even level 2 might be enough, but that depends.
If im going for the padded armor set level 3 is really enough, because i just checked the difference between the two and the level 4 padded armor set has the same armor as the level 1 of the carapace set
just be careful. It is a greedy play in that padded is not suited for mistlands
Oh, padded is just fine for Mistlands.
Lvl 3 all items, you're good for the most part.
Starred enemies will always be a challenge, but that is the way of Valheim.
Considering most of the time in the mistlands there is guarantee you will be attacked by groups of seekers
Annoying part is the flying thingy
Gjalls are annoying, but can be dealt with.
if you are new to the mistlands, I'd never recommend not getting your padded to lvl 4. But the more time in the game the greedier you get I suppose. Nowadays I like to just rush mountain light armour by going into the mountains with deer armour and a finewood bow
And groups of seekers are usually around mines, otherwise you rarely encounter more than two enemies.
You go to the mountains with deer armor?
I mean i just finished watching a speedrunner defeated all the bosses within 8 hours and he goes to the mountains in deer armor with frost mead
There's really two ways of playing Valheim: a. You dodge everything, so you don't need any armor... or health food. b. You're like me, and don't have lightning reflexes like a kung-fu fighter, and need something substantial between you and your enemy.
But level 4 armor is usually overkill.
I'm like in between XD
c. fucking run
Dodge and fight
I suck at dodging and I really don't like the mechanic anyway.
Anw, there is also the vilebone armor set in the plains, but you need the vile's trophy which is quite rare
I use movement to stay out of harms way.
want to learn a secret
I listen. 😄
||all monsters are rooted during attacks. so you can basicly just walk backwards as they attack to get out of harms way||
I see you're not a souls like enjoyer
That's exactly what I use.
🙂
When a draugr attacks, I take a step backwardds.
Then I smack the shit out of it.
works great
Absolutely.
or, pre-emtivly attack works on alot of monsters aswell
That's also a method I use, when I'm sure I can stun them.
Didn't know mobs have that 1 negative mechanic when they attack
I usually attack first.
it's to make animation look better
Oh cool
since they have 1 animation to get to you, then 1 animation to attack you, then another animation after that
It really works even against stronger enemies like Draugr Elite. You just have to be VERY careful to not get hit.
sad to hear you have issues with dodge-rolling. it's basicly OP 😄
I'm old. And I don't like the roll.
Once i filled up my longship with blackmetals to transport back to the main base, its yagluth time, oh men im excited to go the mistlands for the first time
It will be a VERY different experience from plains. 😉
People are torn about the Mistlands.
It's the biome that sparks the most discussions.
I'm the type of person when playing this type of games, i love exploring, even at the dangerous lands at low level 🙂
I, personally, like the Mistlands, but some people, especially the ones coming fresh from the Plains and the ones that like to rush, HATE Mistlands with a passion.
😄
mistlands is an enclusure
your boxed in
and most peoples "cheats" ain't working
they can't just rain arrows on enemies
enemies will be alot more sturdy and stalking you
and if the seekers catch you and they do the poke piercing attack. you're in a world of hurt 😄
Absolutely.
I saw this in reddit, where they like "hate mistlands" and then when ashlands is part of the game "i loved mistalands, now i hate ashlands"
😄
Tru. I initially had big issues with Mistlands as well, but I accepted that it was probably my problem, not a problem of the game.
Now, Mistlands is the area where I die the least.
intrestingly enough, naked corpserun is actually quite funky in mistlands
specially running without a mistlight
I mean ashlands is crawling with very dangerous enemies whereever you go
Running without a mistlight?
since I can't for the love of my life, find yagluth xD
I watched someone did it in youtube and there is actually a trick
not so much a trick as just exploration. Areas that are naturally mist-free are pretty common
mhm
instead of trying to run blindly through the mist just sail around until you find a mist-free shore and explore where it leads
I just move the camera closer to the player character 😄
Yeah thats the trick i saw
ah
big fan of running through mistlands without a light
the carry weight is almost always better
Oh men, in my last world before deleting it and starting new one because i hated that world, it took me like 6 mountains and couple of frost caves just to find onions and moder's vegvisir and it points like max south before ashlands and i was like "you kidding me"
yagluth is elusive for sure
I want to adjust that before 1.0
we'll see if we have time for it
That would be a good idea.
It's easier to find Yagluth by sailing around shores of Plains, than trying to find his vegvisir.
yup 😄
I'm curious is there a chance that we can plant our very own berries etc in 1.0?
instead of roaming around to the spots
no
valheim is not ment to have the early game turn out like farmville
you find more stuff in the game early, by being forced to go out and collect food
Same, its like our chores in game
Cut trees, plant trees, harvest crops, plant the next batch, etc
😄
I mean for someone like myself who always do chores daily irl, i love doing it
It's actually relaxing. I play Valheim to relax.
Yes.
I just started WoW again (mainly to roleplay), but I hate how hectic it has become.
oh?
To me at least.
Again, I'm old. I can't multitask. I'm slow.
And they just throw stuff at you left, right and center.
It's way too much, and leveling is insanely fast.
you sound like you're like 90+ old 😄
Not THAT old. 😉
but I know people who are 90 years old, who plays WoW 🤔
Yeah, my parents have been playing it. 😄
But they're still in their 90s.
80's.
Late 80's in case of my dad.
I'm 64.
that's not old anymore
Trust me, once you hit your 60's, things do change.
At least they did for me.
I also had a burnout.
I can't take stress any more.
I had to retire two years earlier than I expected.
can't apply the good old coffee to solve things anymore?
Nope.
tea is indeed nice
plantable berry bushes would take the fun away, but can the berry bushes at least respawn?
They do.
they do already? Great
That's why you just mark them on your map.
The mushrooms in Mistlands don't if I recall correctly.
ik, but way back I played with some ppl who enjoyed hammering enemies in pure panic and at some point my entire starting island was without raspberries
berries respawn witin a few days on bushes
but if you destroy the bush, the bush itself won't respawn with berries on them
yeah, could that be added at any point, or is there no interest in doing so?
alright, ty for answering. I figured, but in multiplayer that can be... annoying
there are like 1 millions berry bushes in the game 😄
and it's mostly not needed for to long anyways
like, in swamps, do you still go out and farm 100's of berries?
If you take a health potion every time you screw up and take a hit like I do and eat ratatosk constantly, yeah!
mad 😮
Not even a little, I know I need them so I just grab them and always have plenty!
Yeah and doesn't force you in a set path, that's what makes it so good
What can I say. A man loves his berries
I mean it does but not really, take the same map and hundreds of people, where they build, where they kill the boss, what they explore, how long they take, etc. Will look vastly different
Is it normal for a smaller Mountain to have zero obsidian?
Yes. Obsidian requires certain altitude.
I wanted the 4 obsidian for the workbench upgrade so I came to the Mountain with campfires. But I found zero so far.
hum... I see. 😩
maybe there is no obsidian in this Mountain...
IIRC it's above 100 meters that obsidian can spawn
I think there is a video guide on tips about the mountains and it also covers what are the certain altitude on where you can find silver, obsidian, frost caves etc.
Obsidian acquired. 👍 from a different Mountain
If you have an island world then you might have real difficulties finding one that is high enough.
what's an island world?
Any faster way to kill Moder?
Took me 3+ minutes just to not even get a quarter of the way there
For reference, Drauger Fang bow and Fire arrows are the ones I used. Is there more than just swapping to poison arrows?
Obsidian arrows.
A world that consists mostly of smaller islands instead of large continents.
I have one with my second character. Moder was way down south on my map. There's Mistlands and Plains right next to it.
How many arrows would I need if I wanna kill bonemass with pierce damage? 😂
Too many.
Depends a lot on the weapon used, the arrows used and your skill level. 😉
@visual kraken Even if somebod crafted the Odin set, you won't be able to use/wear them without owning the DLC itself.
The DLC was given out as a thank you for the beta testers back in 2020
Yeah... I guess the best would be frost arrows, but I'd have to go to the Mountain to farm the materials.
Honestly? Bonemass is a pushover even with a zero skill level character. Just don lvl 3 Iron armor, round shield and a mace and smack dat b*tch.
Fight's over in less than five minutes.
With ZERO skills on mace.
Just make sure to be rested, well fed (HHS) and have poison resistance potions in you.
I use a mace just for Bonemass (and Golems) but that's it. I don't even level it.
HSS can work too
Yeah... That's the best build that I always use. That's why I wanted to try something different this time 😂
maybe my axe is still better than arrows...
A bit maybe.
Bonemass takes 2x slash compared to pierce
Why not poison?
Because poison damage doesn't stack like fire/spirit damage does.
Meaning you'll deal overall less damage per second if you don't let the poison damage last until the end of its duration.
Which would be slower.
Or in other words, hitting enemy with new poison arrow would only add the full timer again but not increase damage.
Ready to go to the plains, but first I gotta go to the swamps again to get more iron 🙄
More iron!
Always the iron...
Or hunt ||viles|| for their mats for new armor.
*2020 only 😉

It seems like iron is more demanding metal when crafting the stuffs in late game i think
I mean there is like almost 30+ of stuff you need to built or craft that requires iron as one of the materials
That is correct. Most of them require less iron to craft and upgrade than iron tier equipment tho.
But for builders there is no such a thing as "enough iron".
If you like filled the entire iron chest with iron and like you are guessing i have pleanty, then when it comes to mistland you will see like all of the stuff there requires iron
so uhh
i made a new world
and i spawned underwater
soo my forsaken altar is underwater
how fix
what is the seed?
Need is maybe a bit strong of a word
But there is a lot of cool gear that uses iron yeah
