I have never done this. Now I want to just to see if anything sets it off
there at least isn't anything buried in the wilderness like silver or iron scrap piles in the previous two biomes, but i can't remember whether or not PoIs have anything
No, everything of value is in chests.
Only time they have been useful is when I found fine wood boats and the chest was completely buried.
Because some times, there is no chest.
Hey guys, is there a date yet for the Deep North update? Or is that still unclear? I couldn't find anything about it....
There's no date yet
thx! 💪
is odin and thor rarer than in the past?
This server will probably be the first place you'll eventually find out about the update. 👍
I think so, hardly see them anymore
i feel like valheim at release had 5 odins per night and 1 thor per storm
now i didnt see any in like ~100h
Well they have to visit a lot more Valheimians now. Can't spend all their time on you any more.
It hasn't changed afaik, never seen anything that confirms that, also they only show up after a certain boss etc, always been like that, so if you play more in early game that could explain it?
Best fight and boss music.
Agreed, I think Fader is Ashlands strongest moment
Gotta love when boss theme turns into death metal.
Low bar
I think I’ve hated on Ashlands enough this month haha
i know its after elder but it might be just that i dont think about him and even if i see i dont notice it
👋
Could be the fact you’re more skilled and need to scan less for threats and therefore miss him a lot
I’ve played like 3 hours on a new world with some friends and a mentor and I got troll armour and stag breaker is that good?
Worlds worst house tho sob
I’ve killed like 3 trolls and 2 bears
Finally got the eitr refinery running
Bad news is we need more iron :/
Anybody wanna do like a clan war
Have a look in #1024264966712340510 and maybe there is something there that accomodate what you're looking for
Finding my first vineberry seed and collecting Ashwood is a highlight for me, and finding my first Jade 🙂
Tear down a Mistlands bridge. Lots of iron bars.
Sailing there for the first time, crafting Dyrnwyn, and Fader fight for me
[laughs in cheat sledge]
will a bear do well against an abomination
i might actually use it as a battle tactic
it might actually win
yeah I would think, abombination is all blunt so
it won
just realized that for the sake of all these mining trips to swamps or mountains...
it would actually be easier to bring your entire forge setup with you by way of transporting ONLY the non-teleportable ingots needed for the crafting stations themselves and mats for a portal as opposed to shipping raw metal back to a main base for smithing there
dunno how relevant that stays into the lategame since i haven't been past mountains in any reasonable capacity
is 6 stacks of iron likely enough to get good enough gear for bonemass and early mountains
isnt it the same wweight?
not even close, I can fit the non-portalable mats for a level 2 forge inside the puny 4 slots of a karve while holding the rest of the mats for a workbench and portal in my inventory
i'd rather do that than ship iron home 4 stacks at a time
oh well you want to make the boat first for sure
is 179 iron enough for basic gear to bring me to the mountain
should be way more than enough yeah
interesting though, the bars are slightly heavier
I just build a swamp treehouse with smelter in the swamp, close to a mountain and the sea and surtling spawners for coal, best strategy if you don't mind living in the swamp for a bit.
the important part for me is just the smidgen of copper and tin needed to build the forge and forge accessories
all other relevant mats can be brought to the swamp via portal, since in this case the only portal-incompatible thing to worry about is the iron
i have no clue how long this strategy holds up for
it is a bit odd feeling to have a roaming forge, but it has made me build in some creative places
I did that on my first playthrough, had a "bronze base" and then an "iron base" and so on, now I just have one base for smelting and do all the hauling with the boat
this does mean i am leaving a lot of empty husks behind as I vacuum up my forge and move on to the next ore patch but
with the abhorrent balancing of iron acquisition there's really no other way
who knew that a cart with nearly 1800 pounds of metal is heavy
what is the best way to get ectoplasm
only way really, go to the burial chambers in the BF
honestly, kill Bonemass. That'll enable the raid, assuming you have raids enabled.
that too, but that's just waiting and praying--the only thing you can ACTIVELY do to increase chances that I know of is those dungeons
True. Just hit up every burial chamber you can find.
is the battleaxe's attacks reversed from other weapons?
I'm using the battleaxe for the first time and it seems the attacks are reversed, where the quicker less damaging attack is RT (i'm on xbox) and the longer more damaging attack is RB
they're not reversed, normally.
for some reason that feels counterintuitive but utlimately it's not a big deal
I mean, the battleaxe has a very damaging combo, it's going to outdo the secondary attack.
combo?
I see what you mean. The secondary has lower damage but higher stagger. That is sort of reversed from most.
The battleaxe has a 3-hit combo with double damage on the last hit.
for the primary attack.
how do I perform the combo?
omg nevermind just press the attack button thrice
do all weapons have a combo attack
most.
TIL 😭
word, thanks
we should rename valheim to metal processing simulator
also just gotta say, not trying to be a hater, but the primary attack looks ridiculous lol
not at all what I expected it to be
sitting in a circle of furnaces spitting out metal feels like being a god chilling and getting peoples offerings
You don't need to sit there, right?
Lol I guess.
go get more metal ore, obviously.
i dont want to enter another sunken crypt for a while
at least not until my gear is way too good for it
it takes too long
use the scrap heaps for cover. You generally should be able to clear crypts with a bow and a sledge.
my pickaxe never has enough durability though
do you have an iron pickaxe yet?
no
Ah, I see.
Stick with the antler one then. You can repair it with a workbench on top of the crypt.
i forgot about the antler pickaxe
I discovered Lox will just decimate seekers...
Lox: High health, can spawn as a duo or trio, aoe dmg
Seeker: Spawn as a duo or possibly even as a trio at night, has pierce attack lox are weak to, flight, lower health
A lox will certainly lose against a seeker soldier
The soldier has just too much hp to deal with
what level iron buckler should i get for bonemass
lvl 1000 if possible
The difference between a seeker and a seeker soldier is like a furling vs a vile
i accidentally crafted a new buckler
or maybe it just came from upgrading it
i dont know how crafting duplication works
it will say the level on top right of icon
ones level 3 one is level 1
Then it seems you created a second one. Pretty sure shields cap at level 3 anyway.
I think I've hit old age, I used to carry my son in every biome... Now I just die in every biome and hes constantly saving me... Sigh... Not like this.
That means you have been successful as a parent and teacher. Take pride in the capability of one you have trained.
I mean I guess! But I liked being the carry 😛
Im the carry
We just found the Ashlands Boss, but no clue what alarm bells are needed (no spoilers) we'll keep exploring to find bells to put on it or some shit i guess
when are we getting deep north :D?
Pinned comment in #general😜
didnt find it
Sorry, channel description.
'When it's ready.' is all we've got.
Hi community!
What is the latest day you have found Haldor? I am now around day 290... Just needing tips to find him soon. He must be near the 5km line behind some plains
found both other merhants even before i got the key to the Sunken Crypts
He can be in any black forest. So just sail around close to BF costs and hope his icon shows up.
There are 10 possible locations for him. So hopefully you get one closer to starting rather than farther out to the edges of the map going East or West.
maybe too late for that. Mapped almost all the middle areas
reached the mistlands at east
and howling cavern is west
Its definitely possible for him to be further out only. Its happened to me a few times.
You can find a BF all the way to either edge of the map. Odds are at least one of the 10 possible locations will be closer to the center.
There is a map viewer in the pins, that you can use to see where he is supposed to be.
yeah, thanks. Probably not checking it. Just keep on looking every corner.
You can modify the viewer to show only the traders. If your concerned about seeing too much.
wont' "ruin" the game more by looking
Wow! I got timed out for 10 minutes. ☹️ I don’t know what happened. I was posting a suggestion that took me a while to write.
🚫 This can't be posted because it contains content blocked by this server. This may also be viewed by server owners.
I wonder what I wrote that’s forbidden here. 😔
Yeah, I got timed out for something stupid as well a week or two ago.
Had to do with totally innocuous words apparently having to do with spamming bitcoins or something.
Did you use too many certain symbols like "#"s?
Yes.
Automod can block messages if certain symbols like "#" is used too much.
Hi everyone, i wonder how close is this game to full release, wanted to buy it, it doesn't matter that the game still in early access for me, just wondering
The final update is supposed to be this year some time
Okay, thank u!
To my knowledge, that has not been confirmed by any official source. Stated timeframe is "when it's done."
what is the point of these platters with food?
they give like 35 or 45 hp/sta which is pretty weak IMO
They last far longer and enable usage of some different/older ingredients.
The mistlands platter is actually pretty good, if I remember right.
65/65/33 after defeating Queen
They are well balanced, although medium for their biome in general. They last twice as long and a tray holds 10 bites for the price of just 3 dishes. It's really good when you just want to walk around a bit or build something.
(In terms of pure stats, if we simply naively add up stamina, life, and eitr, the last tiers trays are the best food you can get)
They are not great by themselves, but I find them to be rather potent when I use the two best with my best HP or Stamina food. So I have 50 minutes of having both HP and Stamina rather high, combined with whichever food I want to use, because I will either be running and exploring, or fighting. So I use Stamina or HP, respectively.
The summoning of that boss is so badass, I love his introduction. One of the most hype moments in the game, so bad it's in the end.
The Mistlands Feast is the only one that actually matters, using Feasts before beating The Queen is kind of really bad. However, that only applies if you're playing as a Mage, as the balanced stats from Feasts and the long food duration makes them ideal to combine with 2 Eitr foods. If you're going purely melee, Feasts are worse than using the best available HP/Stam foods
I like using HSF food setup.
I'm usually running with FFH for large parts of the game, so feasts are great imo
We love valheim
2nd being yagluth
When do you think version 1.0 will be released?
When it is ready.
I hunger for info
It'll be out when it's ready.
im sure you mean 2026
I personally believe it'll likely drop sometime this year as opposed to next year, but ultimately it'll be out when it's ready.
No lmao
when it's done 😉
By using two characters , you can cheat by giving one characters lots of food, minerals, best weapons etc, and then move the stuff to the world where the main character is and drop everything on the floor.
That cheat is so easy and removes all the fun in the game. Why would I enjoy exploring and harvest things for hours when I can get everything in a few minutes. Anyone knows if this loophole will ever be patched?
Why do the cheat then
-# You can just give yourself items with the console instead?
It’s like saying I could shoot myself in the foot with a gun and it would hurt
Just don’t shoot yourself in the foot
I cheat because I can. But I grind if I can’t cheat. It’s that simple. Mentally, it’s weird to grind ore for several days when you can have it all for free.
You have been given the freedom to set your own fun, whether you do things you end up regretting is upto you
Me and my friends had fun for weeks, building, grinding, exploring. And after I got the best ore and weapons, it wasn’t fun so I quit. When I stopped, the rest of the ”clan” stopped playing too.. it’s not a good feature!
That sounds like a you problem then.
I wonder if I am the only one.
You can also give yourself unlimited items with the console
Swapping worlds out also helps if you're drowning, for example. You can close the server, log in into a new world, regenerate stamina, then go back to being in the middle of the ocean and keep on swimming
Although it's definitely easier to just type in "devcommands" and then "fly"
Analogy: here’s 1,000 bucks for free, do you want it? ,or do you want to work your ass off to get that money?
Most people would probably say, yes please and accept the money. That’s a better analogy than shooting one’s foot…
It’s really not 🤣
I would work for it
I used the console to get everything I think
What a terrible comparison lol
Congrats! I hope you enjoyed yourself
If you feel you must cheat because the option is there, then that’s just a lack of discipline on your part. The option is there to help as needed, not a magical cheat button.
Hmm
Yeah, it just seems like a lack of self control. Just because it's there doesn't mean you HAVE to use it. You can just not, you know? And play the game as intended
I like your various perspectives
Also, nobody is telling you how to play the game. There was some guy around that liked playing the game with no potions. Me on the other hand, I very often use the debug teleport to skip corpse runs because I hate them. Makes the game more enjoyable to me
It’s one of the best games I have ever played
Would reducing the death penalty in options help?
Casual death penalty makes you keep the inventory, right?
In the lowest setting u keep skills and invetory iirc
I might give it a shot
The thing is, it really depends. If I die in the middle of the Ashlands after running for 20 minutes to some 2-star Charred Warrior and forgot to set a portal, then I'll just TP. If I feel like the corpse run isn't going to be a gamble, then I run
It's a highly personal thing
Valheim is a highly personal game so that tracks
Not quite. You keep equipment but drop inventory. Your skills still go down, but only 20% of normal.
hello anyone want to join my community server
Please use the #1024264966712340510 channel for finding other players to join
okay
I can’t wait for other members of my server to be ready for queen fight.
hi
I'd like to ask the developers why magic doesn't appear at the start of the game. What's the reason for this, and will it be added to the starting locations, similar to bear armor?
You don’t unlock the knowledge until you are able access the power of the world tree.
There have been discussions about it earlier, adding it earlier would require lots of balancing so they wouldn't be too OP (as it's quite currently) and new foods and sources for them. Plus it would need to make sense lore vise.
I like that since it requires a certain sap and you can’t even find that until a certain biome, it makes perfect sense that it’s not available until late mid game
Maybe hedge magic like an aoe that makes your tames follow you for beginning magic? Like make a magic whistle
Personally I would like a revisit to building materials. Wood walls made of fine wood or wood beams made of yggdrassil
Wall scones with blue/green fire like torches
I don't want to dig a gigantic pit... how do I keep the lox from climbing on each other and getting out!?
Tall walls
I am so glad that magic does not appear until late game
What were the major updates in order?
They are tall!
They will splinter wood and eventually smash stone, though
Im a bit lazy to look into the valheim website
Magic is WAY overpowered. So make it extremely difficult to craft
Maybe plant trees really close together, use that as a fence?
Yeah and terraforming looks terrible
Hear me out:
The best looking buildings and bases look lived in as opposed to prim 'n' perfect; things that can get away with being off centre being off centred looks great, like rugs on the floor, loose weaponry, food on tables, etc.
Have a few chairs at a table pulled out, or angled slightly to the side, etc. etc.
I love making my bases look homely, as opposed to making them look like art pieces.
Just dig a pit really
We built a homely village and tavern at spawn.
My castle is gonna go up in the mountains
You wont be using lox that much other than carrying stuff while encumbered
This is a constant point of contention on my server
I have a friend who wants the chairs all lined up and symmetrical and I’ll go behind her and messy it up again
But I just love lox...
Fair they're fluffy
And tasty!
And that...
Meat platters and lox pie ftw
I only hunt wild lox, if anyone lays a finger on my babies you will feel my wrath
But now that I have unlocked better food
See, I'll make things line up, but I won't always make them symmetrical.
Like, I have a small room in my longhouse acting as my bed room; I've got a table on a bit of floor made available by a window jutting out; I've lined the table up perfectly, but the chair looking pulled out. I want my place to look like I live there, not like it's waiting for someone to live there.
Things that make sense to be symmetrical are made symmetrical. Everything else is up at the mercy of my whims.

I wish valheim vr didn't make me motion sick it's so cool
Makes the game 5 times harder tho
IMO not a good way to balance things
Valheim is already quite grindy and making it harder to craft by default just extends the grind session
Which not many players have the time for
I think magic is in a pretty good place with how it's balanced food wise tbh. You can't even use dead raiser unless you've had minimum 2 Eitr foods, so that leaves either HP or Stam low, which feels about right.
Sure you can spam protection or embers quite readily, but it's never a necessity. It can be easily ignored and won't hard lock you out of anything if you do
Is Yagluth immune to the wet effect? It uses to say so in the wiki but no longer does, can't test at the moment
In order: Hearth and Home, Mistlands, Hildir's Request, Ashlands, Bog Witch, Call to Arms.
imo it's not particularly balanced. But a lot of things aren't so whatevs
Magic just gives hella damage and hella tankiness while allowing you to stay at long range and use slow/knockback, which effectively makes you a high damage tank that rarely takes damage
Is there any information about the balance of mages, for example, a mob with magic protection or an absorbing supply of Eitra?
You can also use it like a psychotic murder hobo, kiting things into a tight pack and fire balling em up real nice
Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if we may see magic fleshed out a bit more with DN, I could see more mystical enemies making sense there
An enemy with a tiny shield generator would be interesting
You can still use ranged weapons if you get close and use it to block other ranged enemies
Yes, it would be nice if mages' lives became a little worse. I'd also like to see a system where you could transfer experience points from one skill to another. For example, from the spear skill to the blunt weapon skill.
I'm really hoping for less combat focused magic personally, I have way too much Eitr food. I wouldn't mind using it at my base, or while gathering materials.
I want a Plantmancer Staff that allows planting a perfect row of 6 seeds, and uses a Dead Raiser animation. 😅
This would rock

or flight magic that throws a Viking (or a Viking's friend) into the sky
That’s called a catapult
That feels like it could be used to just avoid major challenges, that wouldn't be good for the game in my opinion.
Has anyone experienced raids still happening on a Valheim server even though raids are disabled?
We disabled raids and installed a mod, but raids are still occurring. The mod doesn’t seem to work. Any ideas why?
Jumping with feather cape and lightfoot is strong enough already
Yeah the catapult is a healthier option for this with the degree of setup needed.
Who said this buggy would gently lower you to the ground?
Coupled with the Feather Cape it'd do just that.
Not to mention, you only take 100 max fall damage, meaning meads could be gamed.
Well, from a lore perspective, it's possible to explain why they can't be used simultaneously. Let's say the cloak's entropy field collapses with the spell and breaks the cloak.
It would be possible to introduce a system where magic can only be used in certain clothing, otherwise the player and the armor will suffer serious damage.
Eitr regen bonuses encourage specific clothing instead of forcing it which is much better
Yes, this system is certainly good, but the mage still has the choice not to wear this armor and still feel quite good. Although Eitr breaks stone walls, an ordinary person can simply come into contact with it without harm. Of course, when it's in the inventory.
Listening to Valheim OST at work. I forgot how hard Eikthyr music goes
When you're playing on a vanilla server and you want to build an epic castle but the amount of materials requires creative mode...
or you adjust the drop rate of supplies and continue to play like usual.
Yeah, I'll ask them we have 10 people now
looking for someone whos active to play with
FIRST EVER CRAVEN
Craven?
CARVEN
I’m craven carven
Any idea when new update is about to hit?
So thats not yeah
Will we know when its coming once they announce its release date? Yes, we will. Until then, no one knows. So why ask if there has been no announcement?
You could just follow the news channel, and then know as soon as anyone else will.
-# Too logical
Because often some people who follow the game closely have an idea or estimate of when it’s coming even without any official posts. I didn’t ask anything about official posts. So the logical answer to my question would be no
We play with x2 resources, with six people. Otherwise there would not be enough materials for everyone
Oh, you want guess'. That is different. Mine is July. Why? Because it's my birthday month, so it would be great to have the full game then.
Notable Entry:
The 10 year development hell project, Hytale, released during this timeframe.```
Its not a race though 🤔
Looks like the first game mentioned, XDefiant, was ‘shut down’ 1 year after its official launch? Yeah idk, seems like a poor comparison 🤔
Besides, I have zero hours in any of those games. Why? Because I have nearly 5300 hours invested in an unfinished game called Valheim.
I just wish we had mods for xbox 🙁
Rumbleverse: also shut down apparently. Like, I get that Valheim may feel a little slow, but that list isn’t helping the case LOL
I dont know any of those games, just going down the list and googling
Holy moly, I knew you had a lot but I didn’t realize how much lol
Yet there are people who have a lot more.
XDefiant: shut down 1 year after release
Rumbleverse: shut down 1 year after release:
Warhaven: Shut down
Dreadhunger: Shut down, no longer available.
New World: shut down
The Crew: shut down, also Ubisoft LOL
Hood Outlaws: double digit playerbase for awhile apparently. Also, shutting down.
I’m confused on what this list is supposed to point out 🤔
anyone german for playing valheim?
Playing Valheim makes you german?
anyone wanna play on pc? 16+ have a mic and discord & I will teach you I just started new world today earlier I wanna find people who are ACTIVE to play
Someone in #1024264966712340510 might.
“I’m a gamer dad looking for 16 year olds to play with and teach.” 🤨
no but they want other germans to play with while speaking their native language
Well I just started and got a strange craving for Bratwurst so I wouldn't be so sure
16+ so they are atleast somewhat mature
Just made me think of Boar Burgers lol
Don't seek out children to play games with.
at this point im just trying to find someone to play with because playing solo is boring sorry
sorry I dont have friends & I am trying to find people to play with
no adults are mature enough to be honest with me just had a dude lie to me & tell me he had a call & he left my server removed/blocked me instead of just being a man and saying I dont wanna play w you
Don't seek out children to play games with. "No adults are mature enough" is not an excuse to seek out children to socialize with.
im not seeking children
I love the solo play style honestly, it's just soooo much more time consuming. I'd be down to start a freshworld with ya this weekend? I only have 260 hours under my belt, and I'm about to sail into Ashland's for the first time
Solo is fine, can be flavoured with mods too. But once you have above 1k+ hours, you find it a bit more boring and want to share some of that experience with others.
I go the other way, where I have such specific ways I enjoy playing, it's best for me to play alone rather than become frustrated with my friends.
We have 3 couples on our server all playing somewhat independently. Getting together for boss progression.
I love the solo grind. Mainly because I don't build "smart" I'm making legit Viking settlement and I don't wanna hear about how much safer them ugly ahh moats and plateau strongholds are. Thats just me tho. Immersion is the name of the game for me.
Plus gets boring if I can stand on a wall and they just go away.
I'll let you know when I get there lol
Tonight, I'm going to start a 2nd solo playthrough. Hardcore, no portals or map
Good luck
I'm going to hate myself for it, but I think I've gathered enough knowledge(so far) to at least attempt it
No map is a pain but a fun challenge
Using the craft karve as a compass on the ocean, and knowing the vegisirs are facing in the general direction of the bosses is going to help a lot
I may not do no portals, I'm still on the fence about it, but I'm up for the challenge
Very 1st thing I'll do is get a fine bow, and it'll be alright lol
Using the Yggdrasil as a constant in the sky to navigate by is very helpful too
Yeah it's east to west right, same as the sun?
The boat for the shadow. I also read something about locking piece orientation. Do they just rotate the piece in that direction to stay on course?
The trunk of the tree is in the East iirc 🙂
I'm excited
Yeah whatever way you rotate a build piece (without placing it) it’ll stay in that orientation. So you cna rotate it to the north for example and then you can always pull out your hammer to know which way north is
Sick
In my honest opinion, no portal no map, was the best experience i had playing this game on a solo world.
If you're crazy enough too, make it a permanent death world.
Like I keep saying, its a challenge for me to find my way with the maps. So I'll never be trying a run with out them.
Permanent death without cheese is real fun imo
A lactose intolerant run
I do those too sometimes, but those allow small amounts of cheese
gl have fun! i find that no map goes well with no portals and synergies in a lot of ways. if you dont like the hardcore difficulty definitely try no map/portal on lower difficulty, it’s very cool for immersion and feels like a new game.
cheese is for rats. am viking not rat
Were not getting 1.0 in february are we
Just over 1 month to test the update then get ready for full PC and PS5 release
Probs not likely
Very unlikely. I’d highly doubt it’s anytime in the next 4 months
is it worth it to use as much as i can for bonemass and get serpent meat or should i be fine with boar, deer and bear meat
Serpent meat isn’t needed, but I’d recommend using at least sausages. The other ones are all Black Forest tier, you want some Swamp food in your tummy
If you want an easier time go for serpent tho. That stuff is busted strong
Bonemass is pretty trivial with ||poison resist mead and dodging his very telegraphed attacks||. I wouldn't stress minmaxing the hp food too hard unless you think you, personally, need more than the average player.
krom or mist walker
That's up to your taste, friend. I like using a buckler with a 1h weapon
mist walker does frost damage which is very useful in the mistlands and ashlands
mistwalker
haha big hammer go boom
i love it
it is pretty great
Never could get used to those
the sledges?
Do I make a big lightning stick
why not.
I felt krom used too much stamina, and couldnt parry enough, so i prefer mistwalker/buckler
since coins are useless aside from trading doesnt that mean we're scamming traders
Maybe they have other customers and suppliers somewhere. I've long wondered who it could be though, feels like we're their only customer
No they are gold coins, gold valuable to others. If you mean paper notes traded for real things, then yes, we are scammers 🙂
Haven't checked out the bog witch, huh?
no
Let me assure you. Coins aren't useless.
arent they useless to her though
I was surprised we never could smelt gold
Maybe she needs them to buy some new clothes from Hildr
A gals gotta have some options in her closet
what would hildir do with it
Buy some spices from the bog witch to spice up her cooking
babby's first "money isn't real" thought
Should be able to, might just not be that smart and would rather give half their stock to a random viking
That or they saw the random Viking running around in rag armor picking up rocks on day one and took pity on them.
i dont think theyll see the average viking until day 10 minimum
by then theyll hopefully at least have a nice hat
Maybe they're a silent watcher like Odin
You don’t suppose they saw the Valkyrie carrying you in half-nude and thought “Aw great…another one”?
fair point
Judging from the runestones we aren’t the first
same... i think he realized how important shields are...
and for 2 handed i use HAMMER
should i do any arena preparation for bonemass or should it be fine
|| I generally use a hoe to get more ground above the water level ||
Vaguely raise the land out of water nearby, in case you want to kill a spawned skelly
I just stand there toe to toe with him and use one stamina mead. I beat him in about 2 minutes. With the iron mace at lvl 4. Plus, of course, poison resistance.
i feel like the draugr are gonna be the ones that kill me
Yeah, the randoms can be a problem. Especially in the mountains.
You can always spawn proof the area.
im getting decimated by a 2 star draugr and i havent even entered the swamp
theres also a land leech
What gear are you in?
iron set with root mask
Your using which shield?
2-h swords are juicy as hell
level 3 iron buckler
The hits are very devastating
Is your HP low? You should be able to handle a 2 star pretty easily.
yeah i dont have food active yet
OK, that explains it.
im trying not to use it until im at bonemass
Thats one way to die quick
I usually put a portal near him. Usually because there are crypts and surtling spawners near him as well.
I was going to let him figure that out. 😄 Swamp trauma is a Valheim rite of passage.
why does the swamp suddenly increase in difficulty from the black forest
By the numbers its not that much of an increase.
Its the environment really
Its constantly raining, water hindering movement, and being quite open so creatures can be persistent
Yeah, if you get into too deep of water, your begging the swamp to take you down.
Its where having a good jump skill really pays off. Being able to jump up onto the back of those crypts is your safe space. 😄
The ancient trees can help too.
its in the swamp
Haldor = Bag
Hildir = T-shirt
Bog Witch = Cauldron
So Bog Witch. She has good stuff.
I like to buy a lot of Squirrel tendons at your stage of the game.
can i put a portal in her sphere
Not within it, no.
Can't do that with any of the traders.
Also be aware that you can be attacked while your inside of her hut.
So if you run to her hut stay outside and let that sphere turn them away before you enter.
oh i meant i found bonemasses skull thingy
Oh, good. I thought you already had. So this swamp is new to you.
Only if this is your first swamp. Otherwise you have probably seen everything there is to see.
Aside from Boney.
If you hadn't eaten I am not surprised.
If your max health is too low a correctly timed parry will still fail
You have to eat for your parry, or block, to be effective.
Staggering is based on a percentage of a character’s max health, for players and enemies
You want your HP at about 140 for swamps.
Anything over 100 is good, you might want more stamina instead
Well I've made it to shorepointe, my first base. Along the way, I found the first boss altar, and have pathed from stones to altar and to my base. Not too bad for an hours work
This no nap no portals thing is gonna be a breeze😅
The tree in the sky has kept me on track
Haven't slept in 3 days though
despite being connected to a small bit of plains, should i go build a portal in the black forest next to the bonemass spawner for easier access due to my likely deaths caused by skill issue
could also be nice to have easier access to the plains later on i guess
is there a scientific reason why the wind always blows in the direction opposite of the direction im going
why do bears always try to help me with my task
a bear just pushed my boat off of the land
I wish Turnip Stew would use Deer Meat instead of Boar Meat. So many recipes use Boar Meat already.
I've had this same thought many times 😅
Perhaps it’s to encourage the taming of boar? 🤔
What about Bear Meat? I have a reinforced chest full of Bear Meat! 😂
I have a couple of boars, but I get meat faster by hunting the free ones.
That’s fair! Idk, once I get my 2-star boar farm going, I feel like I never have to hunt them. But I feel lil finding boar is my weakness for some reason lol
By hunting I get: Boar Meat, Deer Meat, Raspberries, Blueberries, Thistle.
Yeah, the amount of deer hide needed typically leaves the player overflowing with deer meat, I will honestly just burn it all for coal.
For me two of the boar recipes aren’t really worthwhile
Event one feast uses Boar as part of the ingredients. 💀 I'm using the lifesaver Wolf Jerky, Sausages and one mana food.
Hunting deer is a nice way to chill and pass some time
The Eyescream is too expensive with the Drakes
Yeah, plus gathering berries. The game encourages you to go hunting once in a while, specially for single player.
The ole’ berry trail
I made 8 Eyescreams and it took me like 40 min chasing those drakes.
The sausages gives me x4 sausages!! It's excellent, and the wolf jerky is so abundant!
I dare to say wolf jerky feels unbalanced
Because I can make it effortlessly.
Yeah sausages are great, they’re kinda like a ‘checkpoint’ food for me because they’re abundant and useful if you’re running low on other foods.
Onion soup is way more efficient to make, sure you lose what like 5 min additional buff timer.. but it's simple and easy to farm
Hmm... Where could I get onions?
Mountains, look for cabins
I think you can find some in ice caves too in chests if I remember
Ohh... So no luck for me at the moment. I repair and establish a checkpoint at every cabin I find in the mountains, but no onions yet.
Lots of mountains to uncover, you'll eventually get them
@mellow shadow Look for the broken houses in the mountains. You’ll find chests there with onion seeds in them
I wonder how many silver veins you guys haul down the mountains? I’m bringing them down three at a time so the cart is somewhat manageable. 🤔
Y'all are taking carts?
Yes always use a cart, so much better and make sure to always carry. HOE with you to help clear paths for leveling terrain etc
I don’t like “tricks” or exploits. I know about the thing with going to another world and switch back, but that’s not my thing. I try to play the most immersive way possible.
Roughly how many veins do you transport at a time?
it's kind of ironic that moving between isles on foot in the ashlands is more difficult when you're near shore because the waves don't go up and down to help you onto the spires
Well I always make an assessment before mining, see how many veins I can find. Usually one vein can give ~90 ore, if I don't have a base in that island I make sure to book it straight to my long ship
Go the least resistance path down the Mountain, gotta have a plan for it, if you find multiple veins don't use 1 cart, set up carts at each vein location so you don't have to track through that terrain
LMAO! The drakes are killing themselves by flying through the bonfires I have nearby!!
Poor Drakes
I've found at least 4 veins total, intend to look for large mountains though, I always skip the first 3 bosses though and go straight for the mountains after I got an iron pickaxe
If you find multiple veins don't use 1 cart, set up carts at each vein location so you don't have to track through that terrain
This is interesting and actually makes sense. Splitting the load between several carts for better maneuverability. I hadn’t thought of that before. 🤔 📝
There are legit ways of getting iron without exploiting.
Oozers, using stagbreaker in the swamp looking for mud piles in the soil..
Or my best solution is to actually take a carve and destroy the mistlands Viaducts base and let it crumble down and load it up and take them back to get iron pickaxe etc (I tend to make a longship the. Look for more viaducts)
Does anyone know if it's even possible to have a meadows biome attached to a mistlands biome? I can't seem to generate a seed where that happens.
I've had a black forest attached which was meadows attached to mistlands
Yeah, I want it directly connected to meadows if possible.
I wasn’t aware there are mud piles outside the Sunken Crypts.
There is, you can randomly find them in the soil, harder to get sometimes because there will be water
Wishbone will ping them, same as silver
That solves the mystery of why I sometimes had a bit of iron scrap in the swamp after fighting an Abomination. 🤔
Right now I have a seed that has 2 mistlands, large mountains, a swamp, 3 plains on one large island on my current seed
It has 4+ silver veins on it, plus moder boss stone
Seed is "PlagueInReverse"
carts make me nervous on the mountain before i get better gear because i’m usually up there in troll til i can make the wolf chest piece
When looking with the stagbreaker, the trick is to look for 0's and "Too Hard" that looks out of place when smacking the terrain
You can get false positives on Ancient Trees so be aware
Don't forget you can hold the right mouse button and dodge roll to exit the cart straps easy when you get into serious combat
I saw a super tiny piece connected in ours
Do you have your seed?
I can check the map later
I just run a Battle Axe and CLEAVE THROUGH ALL THAT APPROACH /s
The feeling of watching a days worth of silver tumble down the wrong side of the mountain

You can’t even get one. It weighs too much.
I meant by cart.
@mellow shadow ahh probably at least a couple then
#building-screenshots message my first ever valheim house what yal think honestly?
if you like it then thats all that matters 👍🏽
oh yeah i know i just want feed back for fun lol
its sum new i never tried so i wanna know how i did for my first time yfm
Anybody up for one more in their world? Im a newbie
#1024264966712340510 best to find someone in your timezone and near your physical location
Apparently I cant read, thank you for pointing that out
Is there any body dat is intrestet in starting a world with 2 to 4 player's in mid europe time zone with descent english
jesus this ashlands continent took 2.5 hours for me to circumnavigate on the beach
It's appropriately circum-sized
We love sequence breaking (I just spent 7 hours in the mistlands harvesting resources, eyesight isn't needed
Im going to waste a lot of my life on this game aren't I
ong i can already tell i am too
U stil looking for some one to play with
Yes but not tonight
Wat time sone ??
PST
What's wrong with gaming at 10 at night
For me its 7 am
for me its 1 am lmao
My cats say its past my bedtime
Lol
Are crypts really the best way to make iron ?
I have a lot of hours in valheim and honestly I'm starting to think that destroying bridges in the mistlands gives more iron and I don't have to smelt it
idk but ive spent day 1-16 on a singular house
Crypts are more reliable source for iron. Viaducts in Mistlands are good source, but they are more limited and can be harder to spot.
Swamps are still your go to you have no other choice other than the bridges in mistlands lol
I have trouble finding them as fast as crypts
Crypts are also inhabited by lowly swamp enemies. Mistlands iron has the potential to be more powerfully defended.
True answer is it depends on whether your RNG leans towards you finding more crypts or finding more bridges
Once you do find mistlands bridges they’re a lot faster to take apart in comparison to a crypt imo

for silver stuff what is generaly considered highest priority to make?
Cauldron upgrade. Shield. Weapons of choice.
Anyone here plays Valheim on Steam Deck?
I forgot, can you rotate items on vertical item frames?
Didn't say Crystal Battleaxe 💔
It can be included in "weapons of choice".
So unlike what people say, frostner isn't necessarily better then the silver sword?
Silver sword will be strong against undead enemies due to its high spirit damage. Frostner becomes solid weapon in most biomes after mountain due to its frost damage which slows enemies down and adds control over them. Plus certain enemies resist all physical damage types which Frostner mostly bypasses due to frost damage.
Does frostner still hold up in Asslands or would it be better using the mistwalker or silver sword?
In my experience, it does. It makes encountering multiple warriors at once more safe for example.
Swords are good options too.
Nice. Its been a mainstay since the mountains for me, though I found more luck with the black metal sword in plains
If there are small rivers between you and fuling village you might want to lure them at you, crossing the water and getting wet which makes them weak against frost damage.
Depends, large viaducts if you capture them all can net you 60-90 Iron, small ones can give you 20-30, I do this merely for a challenge, the viaducts are easy to take down.
Best way to make sure you get all of the materials back is to build wood floors to capture every drop. Large viaducts take about 3 stacks of wood to cover the radius, to preventing it from falling into the depths of the water
The only downtime you really have is sailing tolocating them, good part is they're spawned close to the water, make sure to bring portal mats.
When I play I used to go straight for troll armor, now it's basically hunting bears.
I still use trolls for first copper veins, I'll craft 1 bronze axe and upgrade forge / workbench, get fermenter and cultivator and after that go straight to mistlands. I'll use my bronze axe to take down the first viaduct. Once you have 2 Iron for the rest of the viaducts is use the stonecutter
Good part is viaducts , you don't have to smelt the iron bars. And you can find copper within the drops too but those have to be smelted
Yo chat, why spears have such short range? Since they are mostly long-ass sticks with sharp points, shouldnt they have far greater range than swords and axes?
The way they have us use spears is more like attacking with a knife downward thrust instead of forward thrust with both hands. This way you can use spear+shield combo, so it doesn't make the atgier obsolete as much
In alpha versions spears were specifically called throwing spears as they could only throw before secondary attacks were added. Now, the throw is on the secondary but the spear is still held the same way
just use a polearm if you want long reach, spears are still a useful and unique weapon without a giant hitbox
Yeah developera have given spears a more javelin-like weapon choice, similar to old roman era days, different skill cap
I can feel the devs cooking something I'm excited for the next devblog
Yeah, that works too
Anyone on?
Anyone wanna learn more about the game or just enjoy a new world they have not explored before? add & message me I have a new world I am trying to get people into I dont like playing solo I like having a person or ppl to talk to
You can post in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 for better success. 👍
no one in lfg servers stays in my world they act like they wanna join then they just leave how do I get ppl to stay
Some more details could help, like your timezone so you could find people who have similar daily routine with possible work, sleep time and else real life responsibilities.
Posting lfg messages in other channels can easily drown here between all other discussions.
ok ty for the info

how often does it rain in valheim?
Yes
im assuming that means alot then😭 thats good for me
The weather is pre determined according to days.
Every time I want to build something.
is there any sorta forecast i could look at
You could try this: https://jerekuusela.github.io/valheim-weather/
thanks
yea fun fact valheim weather is perfectly forecastable
i wonder if anyone's ever planned like a speedrun around this
this looks like it hasn't been updated for a long time, it doesn't show varying environments in mistlands and ashlands
it's all ashrain and darklands dark
I don't think the darklands environent is even used now
Ah, this might then be better: http://valheim.kirilloid.ru/weather#1
Help utilities for valheim for those who love efficiency
when do you think is the new update coming out?
When it is ready.
Probably on the release date.
Aha, I see.

It'd be hard because if speedrunners are doing random seed they'd have to just go for it and pray to god the locations they are going too are good
You can certainly work with the weather schedule with a set seed
But on a random seed ad not knowing where things are, just pray at that point
Spent a few hours getting my finewood bow to lvl 3 before I start black forest, foraged for 300 fire arrows and 200 flints. Also trained my bow skill to 37. Almost died to a 2 start brute, but I found 4 burial chambers and pathed them all together. No copper yet unfortunately.
Sorry for ranting my hardcore no map experience, but this completely changed the game for me. Struggling to keep my bearings without my paths still, but I decided to play the coasts mostly, hoping what I need will be in eyes reach
You were so right, that fight was a blast
Ashlands can be a lot of fun. And a lot of rage.
No map is wierd, once you get used to it and learn to use the tree in the sky and the suns position you kinda just run around and manage to have a general sense of direction. Always a good idea to use the tree when sailing though, that can become crazy real fast otherwise 😄
just got to mistlands what magic items do i craft first
Yeah. I've also been throwing map markers up on coastlines for direction to distant islands, and if I can keep my bearings the tips will point to each other.
I'm doing okay ish with the tree. It'll just take some time. I'm not rushing this playthrough, just taking my time staying fully stocked at all times
i would hardcore with no portals, but vikings did make maps...
Wisplight
Fracture
isnt that ashlands
Is it ? Maybe. The fireball one
Frost is good just somewhat short range. Honestly good crossbow or bow for gjall
And stamina for jumping out of seekers way
It's press and hold so eitr dependant
no apologies i like hearing about first time no map experiences. can you see how no portal is going to fit well with it yet? you have all these paths and experiences through the world, and soon you’ll be using those paths to transport things, it gives the excuse to make more interesting paths or bridges and take your time and immerse more
I started new world with no map but portals and modded cartography table. Fun and immersive. Got lost once had to pop up a small house and spend a night cause it was raining so hard I couldn't see anything
eventually ill make them all
if you have good bow skill and frost arrows frost staff might be redundant, id say fire staff first for aoe options
someone said root is OP once maxed out?
the root staff is op immediately, increasing level doesnt effect damage to my knowledge
oh, thats ashlands
It is certainly both defensive and offensive
Root ARMOR I think she means
idk what someone meant by it being op once maxed out.. staff doesnt increase damage, and armor is op cuz of the pierce resistance which also doesnt change…
yeah i kept a root armor on hand for the plains till i maxed out padded
ill go fire staff first since i already have everything
Yes, damage output of roots only increase according to elemental magic skill level, upgrading the staff only increases durability and the damage of projectile.
Yes I do and I'm glad I decided to keep it no portals, really fits with the experience. Also stayed hardcore, almost got 1 shot 1 time but it taught me how to key in my awareness really quick
Once I find a copper vein, it'll be cart time
but even then the increase is the negligible impact of the spell, not the slappy roots
iirc?
omg hot take but carts are one of the best parts of the game.
Yeah I watched a video of a guy loading up a boat with a bunch of carts and I'm excited to do it lol
I’ve never had to transport so much stuff that I needed carts on a boat
very hard is fun early on. personally i like very hard meadows, hard BF to plains, and normal ashlands for reasons involving parrying and staggering. i dont like hard mistlands only because bugs are way too hard to stagger and i dont get to have as much battleaxe fun.
haha omg that terrifies me though, it’s POSSIBLE to do that, but weight and balance matters you can tip everything over and ur screwed
same, you kind of learn to be a non-hoarder on no portal, like i know certain resources i only really NEED one stack of and i just stop gathering them, or gather more later, like you’ll get more blueberries wandering for the haldor or w/e
Our server is casual, no portals restrictions or raids because they like to randomly afk
we have brand new players, while some of us are in the mistlands.
If I was solo I'd do a hardcore no portal run
Yes, the projectile damage increases when upgrading.
When a new player encounters a furling in the meadows now tho lol
yeah that makes it tough, wonder if there are mods to disable the random spawns from boss kills, thatd be good for big mixed servers
Eh, you can take them out with bronze just fine
I've spent the morning generating seeds to try and find a meadows biome directly attached to a mistlands biome, I am becoming convinced it isn't possible. 🙃
It's not possible: meadows reach only up to 5100m from center and Mistlands start to appear after 5900m.
oh wait that black forest
That's BF
Okay, that makes sense thanks Joel!
hmm, so theres one with both but not directly touching
I remember when Mistlands appeared on map as similar looking forest as Black forest but grey. 👴
I guess my dream of a Mistlands/Plains/Meadows main base will need to be Black Forest instead.
yeah i got that all on one island but not all in one spot
You'll have to bear some bigger neighbors than what you would have to in meadows.
not if its big enough
If what's big enough?
your base can cover all three biomes
My main base? Yeah I know, I just meant swapping out Meadows with Black Forest.
bro what
Yeah he commented that it took about 2.5 hours to get the balance right, then hit a wave and everything moved
hehe true, any weapon if you use the ancient art of walking-backwards-when-they-swing
thats a no thanks for me, wonder how many trips he coulda made in 2.5 hours lol
@tacit crystal you never replied about the axe video i sent you, was it that garbage or did the PM not go through?
Huh, didn't notice from the message requests. But I saw your video as you posted it in #memes-and-clips.
Or well, I didn't see it at first since it was private at the beginning but then you seemingly changed it.
ohhh ya im a dingbat and it was private still when i linked it
Is a dingbat a new cave mob?
@median harbor the windows i used for my build we're apart of the "finewood pieces" ... "FineWood Glass Window"
they have a couple different windows which are nice
hi people ! i'm new here ! who want to play with me .? c
how many times has anyone had to start from scratch whether its the dedicated server was left to die or any other reason? starting over is such a pain in the ASS
Welcome, you can search for people in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 👍
thank you
I usually start over once i go through the whole game and have an itching to play again from beginning 😄
I like starting over. Early game is fun
Especially with fire hazard on
I'm on my 8th playthrough, I enjoy most phases including early game.
if I start playing again I'll continue my mountains save because I've played through early game so much by doing this
early game is great though because it has necks
I wonder if they'll add horses
Vikings were well known for their horses after all
where would they be useful? we have lox already and every biome before plains has nothing to ride for or is difficult to ride through
Horses are not making it into the game according to devs.
bro i havent even been able to get through swamp yet. its like fate is sayin nah no new content for you.
Swamps are the first big jump in difficulty indeed 😄 but if you will keep at it i am sure you will be able to conquer them.
no i mean the server has a cap before you can kill specific bosses. granted im taking my time but im being hard capped lol
most of my time is in building but im noticing a lot of cool stuff is locked until i progress
Oh, well, thats why i usually tell people to play normal solo game without mods or modifications first if possible... 😅
Vikings did use horses in combat, but they didn't have calvary like other armies
Curious if the devs will do a count down for the release of 1.0
10…9….8….7….8….12….16….47…
I saw an article that said 1.0 was close. So I'm guessing or at least hoping .. MARCH
If i't is not from Irongate, don't believe any of that clickbait
Is there a really good turret mod or is that already part of the game?? And the same thing with building structures if there’s a mod that add more varieties???
hello people
As Adipocere said, definetly wasnt from IronGate, so there is 0 value to taht article
Ballistas are part of the game yes
Are they auto or manual?
i wanna see if anyone wants to do a playthrough?
Otherwise ask in #mods-discussion
Bet
Your best bet would be #1024264966712340510 😄
good point lol
Ballistas are auto... and unless you set a target using a trophy they shoot EVERYTHING
and to be clear that INCLUDES the player IIRC
Go build a fancy house!
10 surtling cores in one burial chambers
Nice 😄
excellent start
Would be if we werent at the mistlands XD
But hey, itll be good for smelters and portals
do serpents spawned by rain ever despawn until killed
Rain spawned stay untill killed, yep
Night spawned despawn at dawn
i've played through this like 4+ times and i still look forward to chopping trees the next time
this serpent needs to stop running
I don’t spawn serpents
yummy meat time
Without debugmode or cheats in multiplayer how does every smash n pack everything for a server move? Good ol grit n time?
dang i have to play for over an hour to grow stuff
i want my serpent stew and sausages now
sleep it off
What are you talking about?
presumably they want to tear down their base, storage, etc. and move it all to another server. ...which isn't a very common thing to ever do
yeah ts made no sense whatsoever i didnt understand nothing u said
Yeah time is all you need basically.
And chests. A metric ton of chests depending on how much stuff you have.
With how much a chest weighs with a few iron ingots in it, a metric ton is achieved quite swiftly
one chest
its impossible to craft with the items on chests? devs dont have the tech yet?
they need to sell more merch before doing qol
devs love tedium and mundane activities like inventory management, it is what it is
sadge
does sleep pass time on crops
i would think so
Thats definitely a mod I will us e once I start modding.
Yes
ive spent my first ever 6 hours on valheim building i think i need to explore now 🤔
Besides, you get better building options as you progress.
i play with mods so i just build whatever as one of them unlocks everything , takes away some of the fun of progression yeah but having the creativity of a new game is crazy fun
ive never played something like this the building is all i wanna do lmao
does anyone know why my carrots arent growing
Ah, finally could post my suggestion I made a couple days ago without getting Timed Out. 😅
They're too close together? You have a roof above them?
What does it say when you put your cursor on them?
healthy
How long ago did you plant them, in game days?
no idea but i think at least 3
Well, since they are healthy, you just haven't waited long enough. So they should be ready in another game day or two.
I forget how many days it takes. I don't pay attention, I just go off and do stuff, like mining copper and tin, gathering other food mats, etc... I just look at them every so often until I can harvest them. Paying attention to the time just drives me nuts.
i finally found a ghost
it took i think at least 10 burial chambers
twig time
now i can farm an unnecessary amount of mace levels while waiting for my carrots to grow
I did exactly the same.
TWIG for mace training. lmao
I also use TWIG for swords. Plus you can upgrade the wood sword to lvl2. No idea if it does any good, but it is the only one we can upgrade.
Great! My suggestion is breaking the record of "most 👎 per hour" 😭 👌
They made a choice not to implement it, from my understanding
Oh there've been far worse.
serpent meat can be eaten with serpent stew right
Do you think my suggestion is really that bad? 😂
It just feels like it fits the game’s theme and lore. I thought doing something visual and tangible could add surprise and emotion.
I was inspired by games like Final Fantasy VI, where Shadow dreams about Clyde (his past self), and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, where Alucard has that nightmare with his mother saying horrible things, and it turns out to be a succubus.
Apparently you can make 2 great dishes with it. I find it incredibly annoying all that effort for it. I tried killing it and it went away.
So. I started a world with Raids at max frequency.
15 days in, no Raid has happened.
Is there a prerequisite for Raids I am unaware of?
I'm not unenthusiastic about the idea, I think it's very cool! I just don't know if it fits the devs' vision for the game, or how I would feel about it if I was just trying to rest up before a big boss fight or something.
You can just cancel the prompt. All dream events would have an option to not enter if you don’t feel like it.
I just think having an alternative way to find or create a better weapon or piece of armor (if you're lucky) helps break the monotony of mining and smelting.
So far the only complete weapons I've found are the wooden ones. lmao
Basically just gotta be at your base. If you're rarely at home (which I feel like is the case early on) not many raids will happen
I sleep through nights, when do I have to be there for it to trigger?
Random times. Basically on normal settings its something like every 46 minutes the game will check to see if you are in your base (technically, near three "base" buildings, such as a workbench, chest, bed, torch, campfire, etc.)
If you're not, no raid. If you are, 20% chance of raid triggering
If cranking up raid modifier, it's 67% chance every 14 minutes. Still checking for if in base
Ah… so I need to be spending time processing things and expanding the base
Good to know, good to know.
any news when the final biome, deep north will be released?
World Modifiers >> Presets >> Immersive
In immersive mode you have no map and you may not use portals. You will need to use your own wits to track of where you are in the world! Other difficulty settings are normal.
In English, the word “may” is ambiguous and not 100% disabling, right? Does it mean there’s a chance to use portals under some conditions? 🤔
is it bad that bonemass just took me like 20 minutes to kill
When it's ready, no timeline is given yet.
It means they're disabled.
This game mode is calling my name like a moth to a flame. I’m doomed. But I'll wait for the official release v1.0 (Achievements)
you were using arrows right :/
(whispers to odin) he's asking the dangerous questions... what do we do?
-# do we take the shot sir?
not yet... let him serve us a little longer, his suspicions have not yet blossomed
Very well, then. ...We could always let a tree do it for us. Make it look like an accident.
yeap, they are really stubborn to qol
agh, no one would believe someone would be that stupid. just use a 2 star drauger archer like we usually do.
Why hasn’t there been a word for the devs in a couple months
Did you mean in chests? As in proximity crafting?
Yep, so far only with mods :/
Oooh
At least devs are bending with SOME qol like inventory and equipment slots
Yeah I honestly don’t know how it’s not a thing yet.
vision tm
they should take some notes with enshrouded devs asap
Are they adding equipment slots? I am shocked I’ve wanted it for so long it’s awful how it takes inventory space. Also with the new areas bigger inventory space is needed
but they are busy selling merch
they are inclined to do something regarding inventory, god knows what
Where did they say that
i see this today, gimme amin
Wdym
slow updates, not enough transparency and stubborn decisions
I’m fine with slow development I just think they need to listen to fans more. There are a lot of features I really want but it’s annoying how they won’t bend
ensrhouded devs walk the other way around
constant updates, listen to feedback, lots of qol
I’ve been plying since legacy release on steam
same
those devs are a dif breed
they are really good with community feedback and updates pace
exactly
They have got to add some sailing improvements. So many people cope but it really needs some variety or enemies or fishing
been playing since week 1 and i just ignore sailing the best i can, unless im forced too
been using teleport ores mod till they decided to add the option to
Weapon type reworks, greater ore drops, boss altar spawn generation tweaks (make biomes larger and more likely to have them in sick of finding microscopic mountains
I don’t do teleport ores cuz it feels a little too cheaty. I just stock up a full boat of ore and take it back
i cant be bothered, i just hate sailing in this game, feels like a waste of time, a lot of decisions feels like they dont respect your time tbh
i would gladly sail if it was more fun or engaging
is just boredom
I can respect that
same, i just cant
Same. I can handle sailing somewhere once.
No more.
its fine for 1 time or 2, the third i begin to question myself
Also, I’m irrationally terrified of Sea Serpents.
I think boats need to be significantly faster and have a greater capacity. Alongside stuff to do while sailing.
that would make it 100x better
Also maybe this is just me but dragon eggs are stupidly heavy for no reason
faster and engaging, thats it, i will do it
but now im just looking at my screen pressing awds
for some good minutes
HAHAHA The Obliterator HAS A LEVER you need to pull!! I just found out. 😭 🫳 🧠
Maybe adding passive fish nets, ocean fishinf
did you seen his youtube link?
holy shit that was on august
cmon bro LOL
told ya
Yes
There is a pattern of caring more about their idea of the valheim experience rather than what’s fun to the fans
Thanks
sadly... i mean they talked about acknowledging inventory problems in august
how hard is to do something about it lol
It’s extremely easy
I still don’t know how people defend ore drop rates. Grinding iron is a miserable experience especially if you get a small swamp and have to sail across the globe
Oh no
I don’t mean to be rude to the devs. I really do respect them
most iron comes from chests not muddy piles
They have made a beautiful game I just think they have a hard time changing their baby (valheim) for the fans rather what they like
wat
it took them years to do a simple thing like press X button to stack items
so yeah...
Oof
Hopefully 1.0 isn’t the end. The game is great but I think it could be a masterpiece with more love
agreed
they said they aren't gonna add much after 1.0 so hopefully 1.0 comes with some QoL stuff
That's not true
They will continue to support and develop Valheim beyond 1.0, we just don't know what shape that takes
if they release 1.0 without some basic qol that any respectful survival game has i will kick the chair
they said no more progression updates
That doesn't mean "We aren't going to add much" though.
I got the impression post 1.0 content would be very minimal. I really want chitin to have more uses, and more in depth areas. I still think the mountains are very underwhelming
mountains are ass
The stone guy doesn’t drop anything good and is a huge nuisance. And the dungeons are not really worth checking out. I also think wishbone should be a character upgrade rather than an accessory. I feel like it would work better as a constant buff
What gave you that impression? The developer literally stated that Valheim is the type of game to be worked on forever.
it will be forever if they keep this pace
LMFAO
5 years is impressive for this size of a team, but I'll forgive the lack of knowledge here.
size of the team is irrelevant to me, idk why i would care, been playing since week 1
Because you care enough to comment on development speed?
yeah, size of the team is a studio problem
yes?
If you don't care, then don't comment?
i care to comment, their updates are slow, fix it, be better
Just the tone and comments idk
its funny how people talk like "team budget" studio sizes, things that are none of our business, we are consumers, thats irrelevant
Imagine sitting back and spouting off like this, link me to your game nephew.
exactly, its just this simple, idc
it is relevant when talking about update speed tho
they are more worried about selling merch lol
sure, and its on their end to fix, consumers doesnt need to know about your excuses
I'm fully relaxed no worries.
it's not always something they can fix tho hiring 100 people updates would still take time
Nothing needs fixing, that's just a bad take..
updates could be way faster, this game still lack A LOT of basic qol that any garage survival game has, dev talk about understaind inventory issues like half a year ago lmao
how long you think it takes to add inventory or do something about it, its too complicated kekw
It's early access, not a released game, the trajectory is extremely different, and the public are essentially a large testing group during this phase.
What’s going on
tbf the inventory has been a problem since like mistlands
how long people are complaining about inventory? like 2-3 years? and they just said "we get it" like half a year ago, and still nada? lol?
What's the problem with the inventory?
later in the game your inventory gets full super fast
Right, because it's not something that needs fixing, it's a feedback based decision.
I feel it hasn't changed since the last time I played, like 3 - 4 years ago (?)
when you as a dev come up and tell "yeah guys, this need to be changed, we gotta it" and been half a year and still nothing, sure
and thats the issue
Well, it's true that it gets full super fast, but also you get max capacity limit 450/450 super fast too.
they might listen we dont know what they are gonna add yet
It's likely already changed on their end, you're just not used to dealing with small teams in early access I'm assuming.
we are talking inventory not weigh
They're already adjusting the inventory and have addressed it, so that question is pointless.
idk, do you think enshrouded team is gigantic? because iron gate could learn A LOT with them
There's a correlation. And expanding the inventory, means needing more weight capacity.
no? multiple valuable drops that start dropping on ashlands/mistlands weight barely nothing lol
they are a small team so stuff takes time to add and tbh most the ideas people give are bad or dont fit valheim
They have 75 team members on staff, compared to Valheim's 10.. yes I do.
no, talking about the whole game, inventory is annoying since black forest lmao, only more "hardcore" players admit that is TERRIBLE on endgame
Brother, you'll be alright, life goes on
it's mostly an issue later in the game cause you need more inventory items later
well, that long with only 10 ppl? ig they need to sell more tshits, but again, not my problem
it's a problem that would be fixed if they added armor slots
Players in general seem to be wanting / needing dense QoL updates more than content.
It's a problem if you're reacting negatively tbf
bro, stop bending this hard, devs are not reading you
I don't have to respond to a simple question? Alright I'll just let you float along in ignorance, my bad.
mission impossible
I'm just making sure chat isn't drowning in bad takes tbh
exactly, this game is out for a LONG time and still dont has BASIC qol
What is that supposed to mean?
bad takes that even dev admitted? sure bud, cya
Snowed in for the weekend. After tomorrow....so this mapless hardcore run is going to be PGd like crazy
gulp gulp gulp
gulp gulp
I'm chillin, I just got here
Also, what do y'all think is the best biome to make a full stone castle
mountain or a small island in the ocean
Where I was leading. But some of the meadows biomes with the rolling hills between 2 forests sounded like a good option too
Life in Valheim would be so much more enjoyable if there were a body interface to keep your equipped items, freeing up space in your general inventory.
The developers put out feelers about inventory size not long ago, it's likely going to come alongside Deep North if we don't get an update in the meantime.
I just hope it's not backpacks personally.
I'm watching the video shared, and that SnazzyGames also explains the same idea as a possible solution.
It's a fairly basic solution, I just think screen clutter is a concern.
i doubt it would be backpacks
How many times do you often swap your equipment?
do you know if someone on the team has terminal cancer?
What does that have to do with anything?
Like main weapon, off-hand, torso, pants, helmet (an option to toggle helmet visually on and off)?
you said the updates are slow because they only have 10 people, correct?
but they sold 12 million copies, and they still only have 10 people? with slow updates? are they flippin crypto or something?
That wouldn’t interfere with other things like tools in the quick slots.
Slower than the team at Keen Games absolutely.
LMFAO
What are you talking about? There is zero correlation.
so its a choice to have such a small team with such a hit
specially that looking at valheim, you can see it doesnt cost a fortune to build
Absolutely, you can keep all of them on salary with one hit for years.
so.... your argument fall flat
I still don't understand what point you're making here.
It all makes perfect sense.
that your "small dev team please understand" point is a joke
its a choice to have such a small team when you made such a bank
It's really not, this small team put something together that is reaching millions of players, and they chose to keep their team small so that funds can be used appropriately during development.
The idea that if someone has a lot of money they should use it all at once is pretty childish and lacking in foresight.
10 people is a decent number of devs
all at once? jesus you must be a undercover dev
You're suggesting putting more people on payroll at a studio that has one game.
That's so silly.
12m copies
math it out taking steam 30% cut and taxes
be my guest
Yes, that means they have a good future, not to jump the shark.
This is literally the rate at which updates have come out.
bro is useless
we been there, dont try, just hit the block and forget it
you are right nvm
there's also been a big update a few months ago
I think it’s a legitimate topic, and people are clearly concerned about inventory QoL, especially since the latest news says they won’t be doing any major updates after Deep North. And since they’ve already acknowledged the issue, there’s a chance something inventory-related could come with the Deep North update.
the last update was super good
