Not without mods/devcommands.
i put a campfire down so i guess campfires are exceptions?>
in the middle
Oh, I mean things that require workbench.
oh i see that make sense
some things can be placed down without a campfire
like the logbench
why?
because it's nice 🤔
and signs
Wisplights, iron pit etc.
i see thanks
doesnt the troll armor lowkey kinda op? its like playing skyrim all over again
Troll armor has been solid choice since the start and can carry comfortably through swamps even.
The difference between bronze armor is total of 6 less armor (at same quality) and no movement speed penalty (bronze armor has -10%), plus +15 sneak bonus when wearing full set and cape.
Now there is also bear armor that has armor rate between bronze and troll armor but has more meaningful set bonus. It increases hp/stamina regen and chop/slash damage but makes you slightly vulnerable to physical damage (doesn't affect to blocking tho).
If you want to min max armor rate without movement speed penalty, highest armor would be granted by equipping bronze helmet paired with bear chest and loincloth pieces.
thats actually what i was gonna do mix and match and then i saw how easy it is to farm troll leather so i just went full troll armor and just upgrade it till i get a stronger one
im still kinda stupid so i dont wanna try the bear rmor just yet
The set bonus is granted only when you equip full bear set.
bear set is more fun
I want a hood/mask from Brenna. Can be ghost rider on a lox that way
I want a cultist mask. Or Geirrhafa. Or both!
does slightly weak vs blunt and etc from bear armor means what i think it means?
but i do get the benefits of having high regen so i guess ill use it on some occasions
If you think it means that you take 25% more damage , then yes
i see
Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a greydwarf
true true
U will rarely get hit if you're using a bear paw too
Just circle the enemy after each punch.
You take 1,25x damage.
interesting
Or open with kick which has 6x stagger multiplier.
@edgy warren You never have enough iron. Even when you think you do, you don't. You'll be mining iron till the end of time...

Mined 800kg of silver all gone after 2 items 😂
Silver is so darn heavy!
Seriously? I barely use silver (not that that’s stopped me from building a stockpile)
Frostner uses a lot. Silver sword uses even more.
I barely use silver but this run I might try silver sword which is real expensive if upgraded
I made a level 2 wolf coat and a level 2 silver shield
I got like 14 left lol
Also built butcher table and stufg
Oh yeah I forget there’s a silver shield
Ive been skipping that lately
I love the look of the silver shield.
It's really too bad about the hand-hold/animation for the spear. It'd look awesome with a one-handed jab through the cutout in the shield.
I want to parry the golems
You can, with the right food & equipment.
I was explaining my reasoning for the shield lol
ah, sorry.
True, it's overkill for the meadows
I love farming golems with parry and a mace
mace is my favourite weapon 100%
Whats so good abt the frostner? Takes a couple more swings on most than the silver sword
dmg type, knockback
The elemental dmg, enemies that resist physical dmg still take most of all frostners dmg and it slows them down. I still preffer weapons with less knockback tho 🙂
i dont really like it myself
I do appreciate it, but its not for me 😄
Yeah swords faster
Maces and swords have exactly the same swing speed as they have the same animations 😉
A lot of people like it for the slow.
mistwalker
Yep, like that one a LOT 😄
Maybe I just need to use it a lil more to get a good comparison
I find the knockback on frostner a bit of a pain since you have to step forward to get the third hit in.
If you dont mind the high knockback it is really good weapon 🙂
i found mistwalker a bit lackluster
Why?
design and dmg
IMHO for the point in progression, Frostner is a better choice than silver sword because of the damage type. Unless you go back into swamp for more iron, the frost/blunt combo offers more damage than the slash against most creatures in mountain/plains/mistlands.
Good info, thanks
Only biome it is clearly better than silver sword is mistlands, in both mountains and plains silver sword will do pretty much the same dmg.
Silversword even outdamges Frostner in the Ashlands
Yep, due to its VERY high spirit dmg 🙂
But frostner still shines in mistlands
It does more damage than mistwalker against charred and valkyries
-# With lower stamina cost non the less 😄
Which honestly i can appreciate, it's kinda nice that a weapon a few biomes back managed to come back into the limelight
Also because it is so expensive to Upgrade
Well, you dont use the silver for much else anyway 😄 you can as well spend it on the sword
It also melts ||viles||.
-# Had to double check someone didn't mention that and feel like Internet Explorer again.
Ive just died a third time just trying to explore my first frost cave lmao
The right of passage 😄
Once in the cave from the fire boi, on the way back. Finally got to it, rekt some scrubs. Come out - take some fall dmg, 1 star wolf finishes me off
Thats not so bad then 😄
I thought I could go without signs but I realized on my reentry I will def need them
Oh, to navigate in cave?
Yeah its wild in there geez
I usually just stick to "always left" rule 😄 works well even in the caves
Tho sometimes they can generate in a way you actually have to remember where you have already been xD
“Always left” works great in burial chambers and crypts but then those mountain caves went and added a third dimension! 🤣
Hehe, indeed
and i like it quite a lot, probably my favourite dungeon
I want to build an icy fortress in one. Preferably one with a lil fishing pond!
Could be cool to make something in one of those BIG caves that have golems in them 😄
is there any server i can join for casual playing ?
I know that “lfg” means looking for game/group/something of that nature but every time I see it my brain instead translates it as “let’s f[reaking] go”
thank you, i haven't played in a while
Yeah I get that. For me its just a lot of silver to like, get a shield that's 8% better at parrying when fully upgraded
Silver sword does sound very nice, I'm gonna use it next time I make it to Ashlands
Its only issues is it does little damage to askvin and it does practically no stagger, but a lot of ashlands mobs have big enough health pools and stagger thresholds that stagger becomes less useful anyways
might be my own skill issue or maybe it's because i have the combat difficulty raised but i was not getting any parries with the buckler; the silver banded shield proved well on golems
Might have been just outside the threshold or something
On hard it takes about 144 hp to parry a golem with silver shield, and 155 with iron buckler
Though there's some randomness too that sometimes lets you get parries at lower hp
i had serp stew and 2 feasts
the banded shield clearly just made me have a better mindset 🥲
“Let Fulings Giggle”
Loxen Farting Gassily
This is why fire resist is so good in the plains. Too many torches wandering around with farting lox
Plains does have several things that tend to make me weak to fire
Fire resist is very nice
scampers off to suggestions to submit lox flamethrowers 🔥
”afterburners”
Quick way to make roads by burning the grass as you go
Just imagine the sudden surge of lox drag-racing 🏎️
It explains why Smiffe isn't in favour of Lox' pulled cars.......
Just imagine being forced to drink an anti-poison potion ànd a fire barley wine just to survive a trip with your cart when it's pulled by a lox...
Plus the cart would need to be built of fire resistant material
Which absolutely would rule out the Dark Wood.
Another use for ceramic plates?
Or black metal.
Or both
Black metal needs more uses
I thought ceramic would be necessary for grausten so I kinda…ground up all our marble >_<
We need more building materials. Black metal fences, decor etc
Troll hide comforters
Wall tapestries. My stone houses are cold!
kinda hoping deep north introduces a way to get blackmetal from the environment.
and by that i mean pre-cooked.
Somebody wants to skip Moder for progression 😏
I hope not; I get entirely too much from the little giggle-freaks
They mean already smelted BM 😄
I hope deep north adds potatoes. I want potato stews
No potatoes for you! They’re still in South America at this point in history
what are the odds low% in v1.x is going to be doable without moder...
You’ll eat your turnips and you’ll like them!
I hope deep north adds coffee
Nooo we have modern carrots and those were 1700s
i wasn't too surprised that fader can be done first, but i think its starting to stretch what can be done pre-moder.
Tasty mead is better by far
Caffeinated mead? Sign me up.
Coffee beans for yellow food 😄
And I don’t mean in the game!
What do you think is in ratatosk?
Yes … and meth, er coffee.
Remove tool damage from enemies. - Eikthyr Unskippable.
Remove the chair glitch for crypt doors - Elder unskippable.
Remove materials saying "too hard" unless you're using the proper tool type - Bonemass unskippable.
Moder is fine.
Mist slightly damages you without the Wisp - Yagluth unskippable.
Increase ash water temperature by 300% - Queen unskippable.
A man can dream of a perfect world.. 😭
Im pretty sure you'd need to remove all iron drops to make elder unskippable lok
elder is still skippable the same way as mass, and eik in at least 1 version each. and no, I would rather these skips exist, the speedrun is already long enough as is.
I would rather no skips exist.
But "game instantly kills you if you step in a biome 2 past the last boss you defeated" is a bit too extreme. 😁
I tried a “beat every boss in 100 days” challenge and I came to the realization I am the exact opposite of a speedrunner. I don’t know how anyone can play this game fast
Naked with a bow
is a slothwalker 🦥
Tin, copper and bronze have other rources than ore nodes.
Iron can be fount outside crypts.
Often you can eyeball where silver can be.
You can find path without mist or outheal the dmg.
You would have to add "No building on spikes" to make it properly difficult.
So nothing would be trully unskippable, just much hrder than it is now.
No. Not a sloth walker. Movement slowed by the amount of dancing 😉
And gibbering apparently 😅
Instant death as stated is too extreme.
So I will settle for "much harder." 😁
now im curious how much they've broken the game since I last ran it.
I’m a mumble caster mage myself
Gibbering means you can’t do stealth builds
I don’t think the bonemass change would be much harder. Ive found a lot of silver by just randomly digging
If there’s a golem there is probably silver around I find
Well, no real correlation between the two 😄
But if it works as means of finding silver for you then no reason to stop.
There was one trick in Reddit someone showed how to spot silver easily. 👀
Oooh, which one was that? 😄
||Dig hole, put log bench so it clips inside terrain, sit on bench inside terrain and see through terrain||.
Yeah, never occured to my mind to think about it lol.
Kinda like how ||trolls can break silver and obsidian while stone golems can't||.
One could technically get silver quite easily before iron with those tricks.
well it'll make my low% less tedious, so thanks!
It would take all the fun out of it, personally. This game is not about beating the boss' to me. Its about the exploration, the building, the "living" you do while building up to defeat the next boss. Beating a boss is just about ending a phase and starting the next one. Its not what I play this game for. Its the experiences and challenges and just seeing how much this world differs from all the others I have explored.
Yeah I got through the Elder and lost interest because I was just sprinting towards an arbitrary finish line
Yeah I’m usually most excited when I’m building a new base in a new biome after the boss fight
Is there a release date for next years ps5 drop of valheim? Or just somewhere next year?
Just next year.
Wait for January and all the "It's 2026 now where is my update?" people 😉
Yep, was that way with ashlands at the very least 🙂 so we could expect something similar with DN eventually
My wife loves to abuse me in Valheim... can't explain it
🤔
As someone who also plays Valheim with their wife, I think I can make some good guesses. 😄 😄
How so? totally not taking notes
Possibly things like, dragging you into the swamp at night, or dragging you out onto the plains, day or night, in bear armor and on BF foods. OR, dragging you into the Mistlands, without wisps. But at least you have silver gear.
Nah, I do that. She beats me up for not making her tools, or for mispeaking 🤣
Its like... im her slave
Anyone know why someone can't see my pings- everyone else can just not one person, they play with control if that changes anything
We enabled friendly fire so shes just been beating the hell out of me
So long as it remains virtual violence then this is fine
I wish you could host pvp worlds where your spawn is random and only you can see it
That might be possible with certain mods but I’m not sure
Oh yeah. Only in game. 🤣
Then build an arena and go nuts

Everyone can see everyone else on the mini map?
you can turn it off
Yea
You actually have to turn that on to begin with.
No one can see anyone by default.
We can all see each other just one person can't see my pings
I know thats not a reverse effect because I've joined worlds with it off and I could see peopless pings
It was working fine for about 2 weeks then one day later it just stopped working
Like he can still see my location just not pings
I have no ideas. Apparently no one else does either. I mean, they can be hard to spot at times, but they are still there.
Honestly flesh rippers are hella good in mistlands
Aren't the ones of the plains better ? For the fists I mean
Can wolves only be tamed in the mountains?
Tamed anywhere but only found in the mountains.
I forgot how much i love this game
Ah I think I am frightening them too often
Yeah but if you're only in mountains gear you don't have plains gear
Also sidenote but blobs hit hard :(
Got a little worried it might end my permadeath run hopping off my boat to get some turnips
Why would go to mistlands without plains gear ? Other a boss is locked around mistlands biomes
Ask Roberts wife
Though I have personally gone to mistlands too in mountains gear. It's just fun to biome skip. Pretty useful sometimes too
Like rn I'm barely in bronze gear and haven't even gotten near Elder yet, but just went scouting swamps for turnips
Flesh rippers stagger seekers with their alt attack even on vhard, I'm fairly sure
I used to like biome skipping it even formed a bad habit for me that I suffer when I play in slow paced servers xD
Understandable
I often skip to mistlands shortly after Moder because there's not much grind in plains and I don't feel like fighting yag (plus nothings really locked behind him)
Anyways even in mountains gear, a root harnesk and flesh rippers will persevere even on higher diff
People fight yag for the wisp light to clear mist in mistlands but I really love using it because a permanent light source always with me :3
And my travels feels less lonely
I seen some madlads goes in mistlands with troll armour xD
And in the mines itself
If only the wisplight randomly called out "Hey! Listen!!" 🧚♀️
I've been considering whether Ashlands is worth to skip to, but that biome is pretty dangerous and I don't feel like you get anything good immediately off rip
Best thing would be like food upgrade, especially as the food is mostly based on veggies and askvin (which can be tamed). But I think you also need flametal
You can easily get stone portal from it ngl
Which they are a huge help
Also sailing is so good
rn I'm running flint spear and BF food, but a little sail around the area just revealed bog witch for some nice ratatosk, turnips for a niceeeee upgrade, and a leviathan for a iron tier knife
Also just found a serpent close to shore for mistlands tier food and maybe even a fins of destiny trinket
when is the discount of the game on steam?
Ran into some fulings who were very helpful in killing the serpent and some starred bf mobs, but I need to get back and sleep and get rested before I am attempting to pick up these drops

It's kinda crazy how busted sea stuff in general are
The knife can work even in plains very well and very easy to max out
And the food and shield can reach even after mistland
Yeah Serpent stew is really good, haven't used the other sea stuff
I always Craft the knife , it's so good
First fulings then BF nightspawns chased me off from getting my serpent drops and recovering my ship. Then had a raid spawn on my base while trying to get rested before going back
Game is trying to stop me from getting OP items
Why does capping frame rate at monitor limit seemingly reduce it overall compared to unlimited?
7 meat 8 scales and a boat recovered 😎
Now time to make some stamina food and go get me an abyssal knife
Only thing I'm missing at this point is a good shield since I'm running wood shield rn, but I really don't wanna grind copper for a bronze shield. Maybe I'll hunt some bears for fist weapons to parry and stagger some swamp fellas
Your monitor is still going to miss frames if it's incapable of displaying them, even if the system is running at higher fps.
I can def notice its smoother when capped but during a mountain storm I didnt like it dropped below 40 or so at a certain point
but I see, interesting
Just beat Fader for the first time!!!
Congrats
now I don't know what to do with myself lol
Build the best base ever?
I built an entire village base already and I don't use it lol. I've been stuck using my ashlands fortress base for so long
hey btw
Plan goals
When they start be-lining towards you lol
yes but i mean like
for example u see 4
and theres 2 that u dont even know that they exist
and u dead
Cant do much
You just gotta be hyper aware of them
But if you are having trouble dealing with them
but sneak method shoudl still work right
Wearing the root harnesk should do the trick
the eye opening while crounching means 1 noticed u
Not as affective as grounded mobs since deathsquito fly and can just be line towards your position
Plus plains is open ground so no room to hide
Keep an ear open, also. You'll hear their buzzing getting louder
Just wear a root harnesk or time your swing to swat them mid air or just be hyper aware of them
so gotta be very very carefoul
Dodge rolling at the perfect timing can also work
cuz im playing hardcore and spear only
Ah
so cant rly clear them easly with bow
Dodge roll is your best friend and just swatting them mid air as they fly towards you is the best imo
deals with the threat immedietly
i hope i wont parry by accident because then im 100% dead if more than 1
Wear root harnesk lol
90
It'll atleast save your skin when you get caught off guard
135 on hard
180 on vhard
by one
180 + probabvly around 40-maybe 50 armor
Wear root harnesk and mountain armor on vhard and they’ll prob do like 30 or less
But yeah sneak is a good way to tell if an enemy has noticed you, though honestly I recommend just looking around constantly
A starred enemy sneak up on you on vhard and you’re toast
throwing the spear at them as they approach very effective
and/or dodge roll INTO them never away from them
Was close to getting my run ended by a stray deathsquito. Saw it and dodged at the last second tho
I llike to roll towwards them
It was a miracle I managed to dodge in time, only seeing in on my screen for a moment before it reached me
Was watching a movie too so was distracted and couldn't hear it
Ever spend a bunch of resources to make a stone floor higher up, then after become unsure it really needed to be stone?
I vote bragging rights lol, plus later on replacing it with black marble could be pretty.
And I don't know maybe in the future I could make use of that integrity.
Actually yea that integrity could help a bit since I wanted to hold animals on it, but if a raid happens that flies, then it would be good to have more integrity to potentially be able to add another floor on top for protecting.
Or just put a roof on it. So far normal roofing has held up fine versus the flying raid mobs.
The universal: ah what a nice day. ....zzzzzzZZZZZ oh shi...! (Proceeds to dodge rolling spasticly in a desperate attempt to survive)
Am I bad for ensla- asking help from our blue friend trolls
For a long, long while now... I have wanted the ability to rename my gear. I was today years old when I accidently figured out its a thing x.x
Is it?
Yes. I dont remember how to do the spoiler tag here though.
Wait, idk, might have got excited and just renamed the pet rock...
Yeah, renaming weapons is not a feature.
Put || on both sides of what you want to hide under spoiler tag or use right click and press eye icon with mouse.

what's everyone's favorite/lesser known mods that add new building items ? im trying to get as many as possible for a l l the options lmao
Best place to look for mod suggestions would be #mods-discussion
Ask in #mods-discussion
I’m beginning to think I’m just destined for a singleplayer life 🥺 bf is the only person I know who can take 3 hours making instant ramen “just a little while before logging in”
you mean || like this || || ?
Yep lol, I dont use discord often
Listening to Enya whilst playing Valheim wbu bae
I had some nice Iron Maiden songs running when I played last time. Including the very appropriate: "Run to the hills" when being chased by a 1 ⭐ seeker soldier and a 2 ⭐ seeker.....
Next time I'm in Mistlands at night time, I'm gonna play "Fear of the Dark". 😼
best weapon for plains and mistland?
Depends on your playstyle.
Any weapon can work well. Use what you like to use.
Many sleep on Porcupine tho.
i have a forstner
forstner better than porcupine?
Better is subjecthive.
Some prefer Frostner and it surely can carry you well through plains too, since the slow effect from frost damage is useful for crowd control and it deals extra damage against wet enemies, but it has poor staggering ability due to bigger part of its damage being frost damage.
Others hate Frostner as it is terrible in most contexts 😉
frostner better than epic tho
No.
yeah also the knockback
Porcupine deals both blunt and pierce, both adding stagger and pierce damage being useful against Lox. Only thing it is worse damage vise than Frostner is against the boss.
Are you just trying to specialize in a certain couple weapon types?
after the boss and for mistalnds which i shhould get
If you like hammers then demolisher is fun
i like mace and swords
we have been using mace since bronze age
now forstner
Isn't that painful with all those deathsquito needles sticking out of it?
If you're fakir it's not as painful.
Then mistwalker is good, but they don't have a mace for mistlands, just the hammer
Well, we need a bed made of thistles first then. So we can practice before moving on to the Porcupine.
There is Krom if you like haha funny big poke dmg
Slash weapon does poke damage?
Poke being the attack lol
Frostner deals bit more damage against certain enemies due to them ||being resistant against all physical damage types||.
I mean... might just feel like a poke to some enemies
I tend to swing swords instead of poking.
True that, but krom likes being thrusted forward in a comical way, can't judge the sword for liking what it likes.
what's popping chat it's been a minute since i've been here, we got any vague idea as to deep north WHEN?
Ive heard around playstation release to as late as December next year
cheers lad
Developers haven't given any estimates for Deep North, only PS5 release during 2026.
mint, gonna hibernate til 2027
It will eventually come, but unless Iron Gate staff says otherwise any unofficial estimates remain just estimates and should not be taken as truth.
who wanna chill with me in odins great hall?
No thanks.
Perhaps you should ask Momento, Mori?
-# sorry, couldn't resist.
You can find some folks on #1024264966712340510 and please don’t post the same question in multiple channels. Good luck!
As others mentioned, let's not post the exact same message in several channels.
well i just lost hardcore run
turns out 2 cultists will quite literally burn you down if you wear root armor
167 ish hp went down in 4 seconds
one does not fight fire with wood 😄
One apparently does and it goes as well as expected
Right, on it again after passing out on the couch after I got back from work yesterday, not played in two days and I have withdrawal - logged in and I'm completely blocked by stuff I need to do, so all I can do is stare into the fire of my hearth and turn to discord
I also lost a hardcore character yesterday. Was deathless all the way from the beginning of Black Forest to early Mistlands. Entered the Mistlands portal and a Gjall started attacking before I could activate the barley wine. My HP went down so damn fast, by the time I realized I was low and activated a health potion, my character died
Bows at 65, Run at 85, Sword at 57. A fully upgraded Silver Sword. All gone
So...Go back to ashlands and try to get a stone portal up so I won't have to sail back and forth...or repair my base defences so my lox-in-my-kitchen incident cannot reprise itself?
I'm leaning towards bettering my perimeter walls
It is the more sensible alternative, but it also means I have to go mine some stone because the wall will get pretty goddamn long
lox-in-a-box
It had time to make like three rear-up-and-slam attacks, and it wrecked 40% of my storage room and most of my kitchen floor
Bloody destructive beast
It was my own fault for aggroing it when on bear meat for base loitering, then realising my mistake and fleeing back to base - and only then realising the protective steps I had built did not stop lox
are you opposed to earthen walls?
I have earthen walls as core in my external walls, but they're not complete because they're loooong - and sailing around discovering stuff is more fun
I noticed that perimeter walls aren't really a necessity in this game
Sure, it helps to keep Greydwarves out of your lawn
But they'll eventually break through if you don't go around periodically repairing the walls
In truth I was fine without for months before I let a lox follow me to my doorstep
If a Lox is chasing you, you can just get out of your home and fight it outside of it. Enemies won't target your things if they can hit you instead
Perimeter walls are cute and fun to build but they're not strictly necessary
I had to get inside, I had only bear meat active
well earthen walls/trenches don't break, they just prevent pathing
one half miss and it would have wrecked me, plus it had some of its flying fleas in tow (yes I mean deathsquitos)
So I ran in, and while it was busy smashing my gate (and the storage in the basement below) I ate some feasts and brought out the I-win-stick
That's it though, I'll go complete the defences or I will eventually repeat this adventure
Me building in a four-biome crossroads makes it interesting, it's a constant warzone outside, especially at night
No invasion I have had has come anywhere near the destruction this one lox caused
OOooh cooking 38, getting close to 40 never even passed 30 before
Day 841. All it means is I have been cooking A LOT
Jealous! I feel like I’m always cooking and just barely broke 19
I bet half of the xp is from just baking neck tails plus boar and deer meat into coal
And bear meat into the "base loitering" barrel
I should do that with my deer meat. We have so much!
And like two chests of seeker meat
Just make 4-5 campfires with a heap of cooking stands, and put them all upp for baking at once. You needn't worry about burning them because that's what you want. Then just reap all ze xp!
I baked a full chest of neck tails in a few minutes that way 😄
Not lacking coal either
Hide that mention quickly for NSFN warning.
-# NSFN = no safe for necks.
Bah, they attacked my hamstrings first!
Don't worry, their big cousins in Ashlands will soon take it out on me

Either way you'll get angry top 1 neck enthuastic at you.
I tried to run valheim on a pc with gtx 1650 and i core 5 12th gen and it didn't go so well
YES!!!
What exactly are necks in valhiem? I guess you see them a lot but I don't really understand them much. Would be pretty if there was a bigger variant covered in plant stuff.
Umm, I have run it on an ancient old PC from like 2012 with a 1030 without issues
I now have a pc with gtx 4050 and ryzen 7 7455 hs will it probably run better?
Very much so yes
Make it an april fools thing
But still, any old potato will run Valheim, basically
I assume some updates optimized it better didn't it
Probably - and some settings are more performance heavy than others.
If you want them now use spawn neck MonsterAI.m_jumpInterval::0.001
o
I'll have to try that when im fooling around in a cheat world
let me just copy that
my favourite way to play Valheim
I like that I have a hearth and home runestone next to my base
i see many people using this rock emoji, but did anyone actually search for it ingame or is it just me?
absolutely perfect for decoration
Its a rare stone varient called rocky
You can find them most commonly at blackforest or meadows
yeah i found one
Still quite rare but you can find them more on meadows and BF
How grindy is valheim? I'm just wondering
pretty much
On default it can feel pretty slow but there is a world modifier to increase resource rate if you want faster progression
Scales directly with how much you want to build/upgrade.
mine is holding a dvergr tankard
is anyone starting a new vanilla server or recently started
I have only ever played default, and it has never felt slow?
it's subjecthive??
For some its quite kind sluggish if they aren't consistant
I would counter that consistency makes it not sluggish, it is being intermittent that makes it slow down.
And you edit 🙁
Sorry I mean aren't not are
Lol was wondering how to go about killing a strong goblin village, then I got a "you are being hunted..." event. Problem solved
Get a huntsman bow and start picking off key targets
shamans or brutes
Eh. Any bow works.
beserker I mean
Yeah Huntsman bow is awesome for picking off the strong ones before the major assault
Its best with huntsman since you dont attract the entire damn village to your location
Any bow works, but the Huntsman is nice to not pull to much heat while picking off the fire spitting ones
Best is subjecthive.
And unless you shoot past the closest guy, you aren't drawing the entire village.
Still makes a difference in the more densely populated villages
Shamans giving shields is a nightmare
Especially if theres multiple
You and I define "nightmare" very differently 🤔
iron sledge counters them
Not unless you get swarmed maybe
Yes
I've found that iron sledge is a wee bit risky to depend on when solo, it is veeeery slow, and when you have lots of angry little green guys on you, waiting for that whole animation is sometimes not an option
Has its places to shine, but to me gobbo villages have never been one of them
The only enemy that would constitute "nightmare" in my mind is if shamans applied shields to growths.
Everything else is manageable.
I don't have a huntsmen bow but lead them through a swamp after the wolves
Now in a group, with one guy doing the ME SMASH routine, another dishing out maximum damage and an archer mopping up random adds, I can see it being very useful. But solo... not really, outside of dungeons and other cheezy uses.
They're amazing for dealing with bats and ticks
Aye, and broods, and anything hiding behind indestructible walls. But as main weapons, not that great.
Yeah, most certainly a utility wepon.
is it intended by the game to be able to hit through walls?
Now, if they were to give sledges a primary combo and make the "me smash" move its secondary, they'd become a lot more interesting
"Intended" as in nothing has been done to prevent it
AoE damage by mobs ignore our defences too, so I suppose it is fair
Lol just had a abomination follow me to pick off survivors in the goblin village
I use Frostner/Demolisher with Ripper to cover ranged.
Very slow, tanky style where in I am to use Frostner to slow mobs down to my pace.
Some attacks can and some attacks can't, so yes
@heady parcel
there is a variable on attack data for devs to easily toggle this for any vertical and horizontal hitboxes. spherical hitboxes always hit through walls
for example, you can with a battleaxe primary but not sword primary
Speaking of the Fulings do you reckon the vendors trade with them? Like in lore? Or if Fulings and Dvergr trade?
Because like... they each drop/accept the same currency.
We have some odd design decisions right there. Personally, seeing a troll bashing my wall - but dying before demolishing said wall - yet wiping out my entire veggy garden inside that wall, that put me off a whole lot. It did teach me to put my crops away from perimeter walls, but sheesh
They kill each other on sight, so I think it is safe to say they don't trade, they take.
Anyone else enjoy just leading a bunch of enemies through a hostile area to them? The village is dead now
It is a very enjoyable thing
Hey, I would like to play with someone here. However, my English is not very good. I have already finished the game up to the Mistlands, but I would like to help people on their first playthrough
My fave is tricking fuling villages to engage with nearby tar pits
Lol I wanted todo that, but a swamp was the next best option
But kiting an angry gjall to a dvergr tower and watching the fireworks is EXTREMELY enjoyable
What happens if you summon a troll and essentially hit a gjall with a meteor?
I don't do magic so I have not the faintest idea
I am only plains level in my current playthrough, so sadly can't test it, plus getting a hit would be hard.
I imagine it would survive since it takes a lot less damage from the top than the bottom.
And they have quite a lot if health
Maybe, unsure though as the explosion has a big radius, am unsure if it would really count as "from the top"
I mean plus you are still dropping a meteor on it lol.
Would still be cool af.
All you gotta do is gett that staff and go do science!
When I find another Bloodstone, perhaps I will.
Wooden tools seem like a nice way to try out new weapons/encourage that.
If the aoe is positioned right to only hit the weak point it should take weak point damage but that would be hard to test.
A trollstav aoe deals 50 pure damage, 300 fire damage, 100 chop damage and 100 pickaxe damage, so it would take a lot to kill a gjall. You would need to kill the trolls to make enough spawns.
If it hits the main body it will only deal 150 of the fire damage, and the chop/pickaxe will always be ignored
I will die a million times to get this 2** boar back home
Goodluck, I love 2 star boars, makes me want 3 star creatures as like some late game thing/way to upgrade.
3 star neck
This time around I just never bothered taming anything, everything comes right onto my doorstep and dies...
A deep north ingredient that allows upgrading a 2 star tame to 3 star?
Also are the creatures around your base doing okay derleth?
ngl, I didnt realize there was a modded screenshots, Sry Smiffe
There's a constant creature war outside, I make two or three runs every game day to pick up the loot. The neck tails and boar/deer meat I burn for coal, while everything else is saved for later. I am still wanting for stone now that I started really leaning into making proper walls around my county
What is causing the war?
I built my base in a four and a half biome crossing. Meadows, Plains, Black Forest and Swamp collide exactly where I built my house. Just up the hill is a tall mountain too, close enough for wolves to come join the fray sometimes...
Wow, it fun? I vote you make a tv room that is really just a window to the fighting.
Indeed
Only sometimes wraiths fly through my windows to make things interesting 😄
Big upside is that I have both Hildir and the Bog Witch within sight
You save that seed?
I'm still on it so it shouldn't be hard to extract
I hope you share it if okay to say. In the seeds channel I think, haven't used it.
I could dm it to you, but I would leave it up to you to find the SPECIAL place 😄
Oh thanks but I likely won't use it, I just thing sometime posting in the seed channel could be nice.
Ah right, I might do that then, I always just go with what the rng gods decide to give me, I like it better that way
I am confused I fed boars but they don't seem to be going to eachother to breed.
Is it a very small pen? Might be too crowded, they want some personal space. Otherwise, just leave them alone and they'll get cosy eventually
Also kill any greylings, greys or other mobs nearby that might be spooking them
Might be too big of a pen, as the wiki says 3 meters but the pen is 4 by 6 tiles. So 8 by 12 meters
Nah, in that case just let them be, eventually they'll start breeding and once there's a litter of piggies and they grow up it accelerates
there is a breed limit if the child is nearby no?
or am I misunderstanding a video I watched
Don't remember the exact area, but yes - too many tamed animals in a small area and they won't breed until you "remove" some.
Might cut the pen into 2 halves as I did push the pigs together a bit.
or pull a minecraft villager breeder type thing and suspend the parents in the air and let the children fall down. XD
looks weird tho XD
Rather do something more freeing for the parents, is there a way to lure babies?
That's a whole lotta work for something you really don't need that long. Better to just put them in a regular pen and let them at it
I did put my chickens in a troll cave last playthrough, and it worked like a charm. This time I built a chicken coop and it works just as well, you just need to make sure no bats can get inside and decimate your precious chickens.
hmmm, true
I like keeping some eggs in storage incase anything happens.
Hmmm, ive been on this world for a while now, and my surtling flame spew hasnt been spawning any?
You mean a geyser? If you built something too close that will suppress spawns
how close is too close?
cause my closest thing is visible, but like 2 longships away
20 meters seems to be for most objects but within the range of a crafting station also
Dunno, open placing of a workbench and you'll see the radius, it is something like 30 meters
There you go
I just tried Valheim solo and it was way too slow. Is it easy to find people to play with?
Mods fuck up so many things they don't intend to...
Huh my pigs are in the middle of my large base, but they see something? that can only mean something somehow snuck in.
It wasnt the workbench XD. I didnt realize I loaded into it as a SP, instead of server, so since I wasnt near, no spawns XDDD
went to server, waitied 5min, and there were drops XD
A lot of mods that probably shouldn't just straight up work in multi player.
I imagine adressing this will be part of official mod support. Because things like Death Tweeks, Plant Everything even Floating items just straight work in multi player for the player that has them.
Yea I think the issue before with my boars not breeding or not appearing to was that the pen was so big that they wouldn't see eachother if at different ends.
On the wiki what are the size values ordered in? like is it width, height, length?
Am wanting to build a future proof building for something I don't have yet.
Does anyone know of a mod that will allow me to basically copy my base (which is a single, but multi level structure, a castle/keep) into a new world?
Folks in #mods-discussion might know 🙂
When exactly new update coming?
We have no idea 🙂 all we know is it wont be this year (2025)
Yeah but when maybe on next year?
Nobody knows
Maybe, maybe not,we have no info, so we really dont have any way of knowing.
You can go read or watch various channels guessing and speculating, but the truth is until there is an official announcement - nothing is true.
-# Not even cake?
Cake is always good, I like cake.
Are there any dedicated multiplayer player servers that are casual in the sense that it's fine if I come in with my personal character and play for a little bit, rather than starting anew? Also, is it socially acceptable to have the mod that prevents exp loss on death enabled on someone else's server?
That would very much depend of the owner of the server and the people you play with, so you would have to ask those 🙂
Random thought, but I want a way to bulk farm tar renewably, what is your thoughts on deep north tar pits that are bigger? a pretty contrast with maybe some way to get lots of tar renewably from them.
gotcha
Cuz we are waiting for new update to start new server
Huh a deer fell on my head and died as I was pickaxing dirt.
Well, I suggest you either don't wait or simply do something else in the meantime. Just wait for IG to announce anything, until then it is meaningless to even speculate.
How would we know whats comming in DN? Why would it be new tar pits? And if you want something like that why ask it here and not make a suggestion?
I mean as a suggestion but I also like chatting about the idea first before posting something.
For taht there is #suggestion-discussion 😄
As for tar, the old nordic way to produce tar was to burn lots of pinewood in big pits and drain the tar from that.
Actually did that with my dad when I was very young, and we treated his old wooden boat with it
Trolls are so useful I have dedicated my time to capturing two of them
Saw the screen xD nice
anyone want to create a world with a noob?
You can take a look or make your own post in #1024264966712340510 😄 thats where people usually look for others to play with
If I had trollstav I probably wouldn't do that but since I have no way to gather huge bulks of resources
Trolls will do for now
I might replace the unarmed one with a stone golem
If you just want lots of wood for example just summon few elders 🙂
okay thx
So, a build piece where you burn corewood to get tar would make a lot of sense.
Huh could be interesting, to be honest I was thinking like either replenishing somehow or some bigger tar blob variant that drops dozens. Or more but specifically only spawns at deep north pits.
I prefr the troll because the swing arcs are so handy for destroying multiple trees
Plus elder is a boss
I tried elder and it did a decent job but still prefer troll
Elders vines are very usefull 😄 even more if you summon more of them
That would just be an upscaled rehash, I'd rather have an upgraded kiln to be honest.
Im iron stage so still a gamble boss for me 🫠
Eh maybe if corewood tree seed rates get fixed then, currently the very best is break even but you will lose more than taken making corewood non-renewable
Still, lots of Black Forest around, so a better source than growths from tar pits. But yeah, I wouldn't mind for pine cones to be a little more common. Only acorns are more rare I think
Acorns do actually have one of the highest drop rates 😄
Its just that the oaks themselves are quite rare
Acorns are barely renewable but still a bit short of where it would be more enjoyable as sometimes badluck destroys your seed supply
I must have the damndest luck on oak trees then. I have cut down every oak tree I have seen on this world and gotten ONE acorn - and a leaping beech log killed that oak for me...
Yeah, bad rng can be tough, they are renewable tho, the acorn drops are 1,25 per tree on average 🙂
But since you can get like 9 at once if you are lucky, you can also go long time without any
Yeah, this world has had precious few oaks at all, don't think I have found as much as ten in total, and it has been a long time since I found any new meadows land.
-# Now you should quickly go look for some, since you complained about their scarcity here, the magic should activate xD
Too slow a process, the window will close before I get to my boat 😂
I found a 2* boar 🥹
Congrats
Hows the best way to go about getting iron? Do i wanna set up another base with a forge and smelters or just bring it home?
Some people set a smithy in the swamp they are farming where they smelt it and make everything they need out of it, some sail it home to smelt and use there, its up to you and what you think would be better 🙂
-# It might be my personal bias but i always sail it home since sailing and unloading whole longship of iron is just so satisfying imo 😄
Same. While I also enjoy building a tree house in the swamp, just enjoy the ambience there...
Here is what I do: Bring 5 cores and 20 stone etc and some coal and smelt 2 iron in the swamp, then you can make a stonecutter there, (have portal to your old base) and with the stonecutter you can attach stone slabs to the indestructible swamp trees, which means you can build at least a mini treehouse and you can manage to put a smelter up into the indestructible trees with stairs going up.
Can then smelt all there and make a big treehouse or more like just a platform, if you want a forge there as well etc. is all up to you, also if you are near a surtling spawner or 2, you will get free coal and cores and trophies too!
Well I best go find a swamp and figure it out lol
Why do you need stone to make a tree house?
To put smelters on it 🙂
Hearth, Smelter and Kiln can not be placed on wood floor, need to be at least partially on stone floor, also campfire can't be placed on wood floor so if you want to cook there will need the hearth too (often dont need kiln if near the surtling spawners for coal, but you do need the other two items)
Well its only 6 copper for a forge so I may as well bring that with me and decide later, I'll set up a portal for everything else
Can they not be placed on the tree? Or is that too rugged terrain?
Current playthrough on my main server I lived in swamp so long I have a whisp fountain there too (really great idea because it works 24/7 in swamp) and even have blast furnaces and windmill on top of the treehouse haha
no area flat enough for those to be placed directly on the tree, need some stone slabs
I have probably build about 12 swamp treehouses so far...
up to 5 floors, and to make it perfect its good to be near the shore for leeches and boat transport and near surtling spawners and have some crypts nearby of course
I might set a base up there because then I think i can make the bigger ship
You can also just smelt 10 iron to get nails for the bigger ship and then sail rest back home 😄 i often do that
you can even make some armour and weapons / tools there if you have the 6 copper for forge, to save on transporting, some forge upgrades use stuff you can get in swamp easily
I currently have stuff for a portal, 6 copper and 2 bronze for an easy forge improvement ready to go with me
I still don't know if I wanna move my base or not, im not far from the coast but its not as close as Id like. But it is near a big mountain
You can always clear a road to the coast and have a small dock outpost there, and cart stuff to your main base. With a decent road carting is not a hassle
I've put it here if anyone cares to have a look :0 https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202267437647527977
Looking at it, it's really not actually that far from the coast if I clear it
You could move and keep that as meadows/BF outpost with portals to different locations in those biomes.
Yeah, I have a while before I need to decide anyways
#mods-screenshots message
I really want to rebuild this village...
Even with portals I like to build roads between my various outposts, but I guess that's just me trying to apply a bit of civilisation to the world. But I truly enjoy running down my paved, torchlit roads when I'm done - even if I don't actually need to...
Well lets go find a swamp 😄
Next project once I am done in Ashlands on this world is to build a road across the biggest Mistlands continent - just because. Going to find one of those old dvergr bridges and work from that.
That is a neat one!
A proper city wall sure gobbles up some stone
Found plains before swamp 😭
oh oh no
if it makes you feel better my gears been stuck at my mistlands farm all day LOL
Well i found my swamp and a flying thing chased me away lol
oh jeez
Is there any forgiving valheim mode?
?
u can tweak them using world modifier.. more resource, less hurtful enemies, etc
gotta be really boring tho
yes, passive enemies and no raids would be extremely forgiving (bosses will not be passive once summoned I think
I would also find that boring, you can also turn the combat to easy
I turned raids off, dont wanna deal with that
some raids deliver resources to your base haha
I assume I can play the game on normal and then tweak as needed which could be helpful
you can change the world modifiers anytime before you log in if you're playing solo
I might turn them on when i get a good base but I don't fancy some trolls smashing my wood house rn lol
I had two log trolls yesterday at the same time that was a bit hairy with just the starter armor
lucky i had a crude bow already
I just found bonemass before I found a crypt
Stuck in a copper vein with a troll and a bear
This swamp has bonemass, deathsquitos and no crypts, me no like
time to bring the bonemass to the plains and let them kill it
speedmining
@steel mica That's a neat idea using the stone 👏
Fun when you need stone, then find a large rock, and a troll.
I think Ive spent half my day riding against the wind on my boat
Question, does a successful dodge give back more stam than it cost? or no? I assume no from what I recall noticing.
How much it gives back scales with skill level.
I love avoiding eikthyr for as long as possible just for all the free neck tails and pork, heh. Waiting on the elder is also nice because of the kindly greydwarf emissaries paying tributes of wood and stone.
Do we know when last biome will be released
No official date but its coming to Playstation in 2026 and they don't accept Early Access games. Once the actual release date is announced it should be in #news channel.
so, if someone, say, wanted to take over a swamp with free-range tame asks as an invasive species...
what would you recommend to them?
something immune to poison
Can you craft Wooden Weapons without any workbench upgrades, or they need to be x level?
Only wooden sword is craftable, other weapons are found scattered across the world.
Perfect, I wanted to do a sword only run, so that saves some time going BF for bear/troll to mine for me XD
Real masochistic challenge, beat the game only using the training/wooden weapons
Playing my first run of the game blind. I just killed the plain boss and discovered theres an item that helps you see in the mistlands.....😭. Ive been fumbling around blind in that place for hours now....Since pre moder and I could have had the option to see this whole time???
you can only see after you beat yagluth as his drop enables you to craft the wisplight
yeah just learnt that now after killing him lol. Didnt know it was a thing. Just thought you had to suffer through the mist and navigate to clearer areas
ive spent god knows how many hours in there without it....
Man, this game has got to be the most value ive ever gotten from a videogame. I am almost 1,200 hours in (admittedly, a portion of which is from afk-sometimes even overnight). I am just finishing up my keep, working my way through mistlands for the second time, trying to amass enough materials of everything to craft and display it all
only two of my games beat it: skyrim with like infinity squared mods and terraria
I like skyrim, but I dont have half the playtime in it, vanilla.
I have a few hundred more hours in No Man’s Sky But my steam details last year was pretty even between the two
Yesterday i decided to start on a mountain castle with a small port at the base. I still haven’t started the mountain, been turning the port into a fortified docking area, utilizing a burial chamber as a “mine” for decoration.
There are no trees or stone within 80m now. I should plant some 😁
If a game makes you return more than usual, THAT is real value
no npc city and village in thee games?????
Anybody wanna play ?
I WONT
Look in #1024264966712340510 🙂
guys how do you fight log trolls inside caves?
cause they attack faster than my atgeir can stun them and i take a buttload of damage
You roll/parry/spin with atgeir a lot 😄
oh you have invc frames while rolling?
Yep 🙂 but if you have atgeir you should have virtually 0 problem with taking down 0 star trolls 🤔
You just spin to stagger them, then stab stab, spin again if it looks like they will recover
understandable i just hate log trolls cause they can reach you and attack you faster than me running at them and then spiining
okay lemme try and practice imma put a portal down for spawn point XD
Good luck! 😄
thanks!
i actually did it but i run out of stamina and tried parying but i kinda suck XD
Dont try to parry them with atgeir really, they do too much dmg to do that for now 😄
Once you have better stuff you will be able to, but if you are still in BF then its safer not to
You can regen stamina while it's staggered, then swing again to stagger it again. Tasty mead also increases the stamina regen a lot during that period.
^That, forgoing one stab stab rotation to gain stamina is quite safe and easy 🙂
Also with cave trolls you have the option to back out of the cave entirely if you need more time to recover.
Learning proper stamina management is one key to success, many hits can be avoided by simply moving around (not sprinting) and having those breathers between the crowd control hits like atgeir swing.
Thanks i can do that one well just not inside troll caves
Yeah, trolls can be quite easily kept staggered with atgeir secondary and their attacks are easier to parry with bronze buckler.
I never use the atgeir. I sword and board (or mace/frostner). dunno. Polearms aren’t my style
Dodge and parry are my bread and eyescream
Do you think eyescream tastes like a tree
I’ve seen a YouTube video where a guy makes ice cream out of spruce tips. It probably tastes like that
will they ever add the poison mace thing that the rancid remains has?
Probably not.
It would have to fit between the bronze mace and the iron one to start with, while the actual biome you have to deal with lots of poison is the Swamp.
Where a mace like that would be quite useless.
Which means the first spot where it could be useful is the mountains and by then a bronze mace is obsolete.
I see it has no place basically
We already have a poison axe and it's not great because poison is the worst damage type
if you damage an already poisoned enemy you lose the poison damage but other damage over time effects stack the damage
oh damn
That effect is best shown when using the Draugr Fang.
Shoot something big with it and you will see that the poison effects resets all the time.
Same goes for the Ooze Bombs.
Is there any single mob in the game that is actually vulnerable to poison damage? It feels like an under developed mechanic really. But if it would stack as with other dots, that door would swing both ways and Bonemass would suddenly be a lot more challenging..
As would swarms of leeches, those random groups of 3-4 greydorf shammys etc etc
I'd take it - I have always played like that was the case, I only recently realised that to actually die from poisoning you need to be on crap food and/or already beaten up and low on health.
I think cultists are technically weak to poison? I still don’t really use it against them though 🤔
Or edge cases like my first swamp death - abomination yeeted me into deep water with like 4-5 leeches, one of them 2-star. Took me days to recover my stuff from there
I’ve always found that poison from oozers seem to be really deadly
I suppose an ooze bomb if they're below you in one of those rough stairwells mobs can't climb
But arrows are more efficient anyway
Ooze Bombs are great for clearing the Sealed Tower and Mistland Dungeons.
It kinda has a citrus flavor. I’ve had it.
I lack the patience. I read that it would be great but when I tried I got bored waiting for stuff to die so in the end I bashed the walls down and went in swinging anyway. Saves me an inventory slot too 😄
Was really good for the brood nests though, and ticks
Doesn't look exactly like the one rancid remains has, but there is a poison mace in the game
Hehe, ||brick on a stick
||
I want bile bomb arrows
I think the rancid remains mace is just a regular (slightly bigger) mace that just gets the same aura as the mob itself
Need to find one and compare 😄
Yep, just iron mace with green cloud 🙂
Fartmace
I wish there was an upgraded fire arrow. They could be mistlands tier and use bilebags instead of resin
I simply love raiding with fire arrows with fire hazards on. BUUUURN!
They're just a tad too weak for later biomes
I will say a fun moment I had last world was slow sailing by a fuling village and having me and two other mages firebomb the place to dust.
Listening to the gigglegoblins scream was so satisfying
I keep trying to get my group to turn fire effects on, but they are afraid of burning their wood houses down
It’s a valid concern
I feel like firetick isn't very aggressive. Haven't ever burnt anything down
Set fire to my house once but that was when I was living out of a shack and I immediately put it out anyways
Just keep wood 1.5m from fire center and you fine
It's nice not needing to use kilns
Elite blob vials are quite effective: oozer is hostile against them, deals poison and resists the damage the residents inside deal.
Oozers do pretty nuts damage
Until you get to growths which do hella nuts damage
I feel like it takes me so long to take down seeker soldiers on vhard, I might try employing growths now and again for that purpose
by my calculations if they hit their full burst that's something like 700 damage
Before resistances/weaknesses
I should start using the bottled slime bombs. They sound fun
Yeah I bought a bunch of bottles and then never used them
I found that most vile-bomb creatures are quite weak in the higher biomes.
A 1 star seeker and a normal soldier were one-shotting the poison blobs and frost blobs. Oozer lasted two hits and even a tar blob didn't last that long.
In general the ooze bombs are more effective against these monsters.
Pretty clutch when used right imo. Have yet to see how useful the slow from the frost blob is (the damage is a bit ehhh, but at least it can be used in ashlands)
Ah yeah you don't want the blobs to brawl enemies unless you're using them as a distraction
You want to use them as a oneshot or you distract the enemy while they get damage in
I had to cheese the map. I get tired of searching for biomes! but I wont cheese particular locations of items or what not lol
getting off while playing valheim is a 10/10 strat
How hard is the sealed tower in fully upgraded plains gear?
Normal?
Depends on your tactics. It can be fairly rough or relatively easy
I have bombs
Someone surely did, i would ask in #mods-discussion 😄
You’ll be mostly alright then, with a little patience
without cheese I'd say it's pretty hard relative to the rest of plains
With cheese anything is easy
Doable. Especially if you bring Oozebombs.
I did that run last week in similar gear, using the plains feast, lox meat pie, meat platter (only mistlands food for me) using bow, arbalest and oozebombs.
The last two bosses were the most difficult, not because I didn't have the HP, but more because they've both got that much HP it's more a war of attrition.
But the Oozebombs got their health going down fast, the bow was good for sniping and the Arbalest certainly did hurt them.
For the floors itself it was Oozebombs to take out most of what's on it, then smashing in the door with a porcupine and dealing with the left overs.
Which usually were a couple of spear and sword wielding Fulings.
If you got the plains feast, Lox meat pie and Serpent stew, you're good for HP and stam
I tend to run lox pie, fish wraps and blood pudding
Or lox pie pudding and bread for more stamina
I do need to hunt more serpents tho
This is the first play where I’ve actually started fishing and so have plenty of fish
Wish I could financially manage to just provide Valheim for everyone who was interested, but alas. I am teh poor.
You will be here a long time. I can see the future
Well that's an easy report.
Your crystal ball might have polarities reversed 😄
Crap! It was a dragon tear. I always confuse it with a crystal ball
Fuck pirates.
Same reason murderers can be arrested for murder even if they don't encourage others to commit murder
I shall 🤐
Isn’t Valheim like half off right now 🤔
I've been considering buying some extra copies of Valheim, just in case I make new friends who don't own it. Everyone I know, and plays, already own it. So my anti social self would have to become social. Since I don't see that happening, I have not bought additional copies .
Can you do that? Buy the game and then just hold onto it for future gifts?
I’m a Steam Newb I don’t know how this works 😅
Yeah, I have a few gift copies of games. You just select your purchase as a gift, then it is in your account as a gift.
Neat! I thought I had to specify a steam ID during purchase
It can be done that way. If you want to know the specifics on how the options are, you can Google the steps.
spawn serpent MonsterAI.m_avoidLand::false
Are they gonna slither out? 👀
even better use spawn serpent MonsterAI.m_avoidLand::false Humanoid.m_flying::true Humanoid.m_flyTurnSpeed::150.0 and make a dragon
You say its time to punch some sneaky snakes?
Wait, is there an avoidWater?
yes
So one could enable that for greylings and they wouldn't swim around walls? 👀
Because its awesome 😄
The ones you would spawn manually would probably not be able to 😄
Hmm, are they able to target you effectively once they are flying? 🤔
yes, and the default fly speed is very fast so they're hard to avoid
Niiiiiiiiice
the variable is being set properly but doesn't seem to do anything
😭
I've never really liked using trolls for mining - I prefer to do that myself - but man I just had an epiphany and used a blue Demolition Guy to take down one of these ruined towers in the BF. To take them down you otherwise need to bring mats for a stonecutter, or whack away with pickaxe that takes forever. This blue brute demolished it entirely in a minute. AWRIGHT!
Also leveled dodge three ticks 😄
you can also hoe down the land below the stone tower and it will crumble
I know but that feels kinda like cheating
No and yes.
Also, is it too much grinding or lil bit grinding
It is grinding.
Cuz i tried albion recently and it made me exhausted
entirely up to you but the main gameplay loop includes mining and killing stuff to make more weapons
but like, way less than any mmo
Valheim is perfectly playable solo, and is absolutely wonderful with a bunch of friends. But IT IS NOT AN MMO. Important to know, in multiplayer it is a co-op game for small groups.
Worth is subjective to the individual.
?
I have 1100 inr, was thinking to buy hogwarts legacy and this valhiem
It is worth its money, what currency that is I don't know - but considering the amount of hours your average Valheim players puts in, yes I would say it is much more worth it than any 80$ bug-ridden shallow AAA title
Seems like 550 inr (Indian rupee?) equals to 5,24 euros. Cheaper than to us which is 9,99 euros currently with the sale.
at that point only terraria can beat valheim...
which is an insane statement given we are talking about terraria
Gratz, enjoy!
That would be a Steam issue
Maybe, I will try tomorrow
With my friend's card
But why is VISA debit card declined
Heck knows, Steam works in mysterious ways
Except their support team
They will anhillate the hacker who hacked a steam account if complained
Depends, both have their ups and downs. Have you tried both weapon types?
Abyssal razor is technically swamp tier knife.
It is a knife. Knives are used to skin and butcher animals, not to fight.
I've tried the copper knife, pretty good combo damage for its low dmg stats
(It is a very valid weapon if you like the playstyle)
Also another quick question is runescape dragonfields worth it or no
Cuz I just saw yt video where a guy decimated a fuling village with the razor. My friend with a full mountain tier maxed gear was struggling with the silver sword
not surprising about the silver sword. Fulings are immune to spirit damage.
Probably goes down to playstyle, avoidance and tactics more than the weapon to be fair. Silver sword is a king tier weapon
I've been playing mostly with knives and battleaxes in my latest playthrough with my group and I've enjoyed them a lot. Knives are fast and effective.
Silver sword does perfectly good normal damage, the spirit part is what makes it god-tier vs anything that does take spirit damage
Oh
Ima try it out
Silver sword kicks ass in Ashlands btw. Low stamina use and everyone and his mother there are weak vs spirit
If you have enough chitin and not planning or already made the harpoon you might just make the razor and give it a go.
Silver knife is very clean looking one tho.
Yeah I've got 3 and half stacks of chitin lol
Yeah it is a cheap and good weapon. I never use it myself because in my head canon a true viking does not use tiny knives, they use axes, spears and swords...
I haven't explored the mountains on my server yet
Yeah, you don't need to worry about not having enough tho.
Actually, historically most vikings carried always knife/dagger with them.
Of course, if you drop your sword/axe it is good to have a backup
In valheim, my backup is the axe I normally use for woodcutting 😄
Longest outing on this no-portals run I came home with every single weapon broken except my axe
(normally I carry sword, I-win-stick and bow, plus the axe if I need to chop wood)
Oh hell yes, check youtube, or the #screenshots channel, or #building-screenshots
I see
Biggest difference between them is that in Valheim structures don't stay on air.
I see but minecraft is very LoGiCaL
100 anvils can't destroy a crop yet a jump of player destroys it instantly
Once you get the hang on building you lose your sense of time while at it.
Real
A bucket of water has infinite water
And water makes tnt do no damage
To buildings
Yeah each game having their own very logical features.
any new news on the final biome?
How do I spawn a fuling with devcommands? It keeps says missing object Fuling
I think their item names is "goblin" but there's some online resource on all of that
For reference "fuling" is Swedish and means something like "small ugly one" and historically has been used to describe malicious things in folklore
But def not good against a 1* lol I'm getting burnt alive
Seeker bugs suuuuck
No they stab. Hard.
they stab, tackle, and headbut their way.
Indeed, they are right <bleeps>
Whoever had the idea to make the main enemies in a biome giant cockroaches and flying fire-spitting jellyfish deploying monstrous dog-sized ticks as shock troops... These guys deserve a medal. Genius. I hate them so much, but man what a fricking great horrorshow...
the Seekers are straight cazedore from New vegas
It's a lot more original as spiders. That's for sure. 🙂
If I know my lore right, they were originally intended to be more spiderlike, but changed to more roachlike to be less, well, common.
oh no! they found my emergency portal. ugh, gotta hoof it
Latest news are posted in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816, no new info yet about the release.
thank you
final biome confirmed downtown chicago
That angry red hue of the two star seeker, and the sheer animal panic it conjures in me, beautiful.
you folks ever go sailing for sailing sake?
its so satisfying espexially knowing there is hell on the other side
Yes, I love sailing straight into the grey as well, knowing absolutely nothing about what is coming
I tagged you in screenshots to show my current expedition
Cool, love that kinda exproration trip - just remember to bring enough food and you can take a completely different route back home
if I get my stuff there, I have plenty of food! just riding nude on the way there
(I'm playing no portals, so that's my reference, I can't pop home to refresh stuff while out exploring)
How do y'all even play with no map
I don't, that's where I draw my line. If we had a soft no-map mode where you could go to the cartography table and look at the map, I would do it
I haven’t left my starting island yet 😅
but i'm playing with a friend so we are using a map
I'd love to have a printable map, like on leather for wall mounting
used to do it alot on minecraft for cool aesthetics
I'm sure that could be a possible future merch thing. Order a canvas print of the map of my own fave seed!
Ah well, that would be cool but probably extremely awkward to code
The sea, and how using actual sailing techniques will help you, is one of my absolute favourite parts of the game. Sailing through a full storm in a karve is sheer terror and sheer bliss at the same time 😄
If you mess up your karve will get fucked up, but if you ride the seas and don't go full sail you'll fly
#screenshots message @torn blade it's a serpent
So the shocking truth was that he didn't like it?
Is there any way to have an open boar farm, every time I leave my base I come back and my boar are dead, I really don't want to keep them in an enclosed box....
Mine are in an open pit, with torches around the perimeter to block spawn
Passive mobs setting maybe?
Turn raids off and have the farm in the meadows
But, they should not get attacked when you are not near, that is odd
My last boar pen I built they were outdoors - although behind stakewalls - and roamed pretty freely, and I never had a single fatality. Mind you I kept it as a separate farm, without any base items to trigger raids. Used it for boars and later on vineberries. Boars would get friendly while I harvested the berries, good combo. Without raids nothing can get close to them.
Hmm, it’s not supposed to be
I think the water looks pretty thin
The water looks kinda watery actually
But the way boats + waves interact is top notch. To me that started playing computer games in the 80:s, seeing this level of physics/realism is nothing short of magic, I swear.
The tar is very viscous tho, I love it
I hate the tar but I love watching it drain
Ush I wish there were lakes and streams and waterfalls with that mechanic, but feck I understand why it is not a thing
Would be interesting if the tar mechanic was expanded on and used more. Could be nice to have a way to like transport liquids and make a little pool inside your base.
Digging a moat around base and then filling it with spawn TarLiquid is always fun.
I have to try that sometime
Gods, I love how seeker meat looks like giant scampi
anyone done multiplayer with a hardcore mode that deletes character + world on death?
How would you do that, all characters on the world dead at the same time = wipe?
I was thinking if anyone dies, so you could do a group hc/deathless run
i spelled it wrong lol.
That would be really weird, someone runs off on their own, forgets to eat, gets tagged by a deathsquito and it's all over for everyone?
yah its evil but we have a lot of hrs in the game, looking for a challenge 🙂
theres a mod that does it but its singleplayer only
Well, you do you. Ask in #mods-discussion if anyone knows a way to do it.
Otherwise you'll just need to have it as a rule - "anyone dies we all start over, so DON'T FUCKING DIE!!!!"
Heh, yep. Think of the potential to shame your friends too.
My birthdays coming u-, I think I might make a birthday cake in game some how
Maybe could go to the mountains and use the terrain in your build of a cake somewhat? Like raise a circle area of snow to be the top of the cakes icing?
Or if there is a build piece that is good for having a snow texture on top when un roofed in the mountain biome?
Gang o graylings just wiped my pen o boars
I do it on all my solo runs, but haven't done it on multiplayer no. Doesn't sound particularly suited for multiplayer imo
Yea, may be a niche thing for sure.
oooh. Round, snowy, Item plaques or Scones for decor, torches for candles
What cape should I run with my fenris set? ig its not a big deal really
id compare personally on the stats i like to use the wiki for armour comparison
What you personally like the most, as Fenris chest grants frost resistance you can wear any cape with it.
I prefer lox cape tho.
if available, generally ||feather + fire resistance||(mistlands stuff) or situationally ||asksvin||(ashlands) tend to be the most useful, though they are later game.
if you don't have access to them, I just run lox.
Right on, thanks. Im still in mountain so I will run wolf for now until lox and feather
you can get a lox cape without killing moder, but up to you and your comfort level with plains.
Right, whats better abt lox compared to wolf? Seems to me theyre equal but lox is more durable
durability, and whether or not you like the wolf trophy.
2 swamps and no turnip 🙁
are you sure?
They were only little swamps
positive?
I'll go look again 😭
🐦⬛
I did find bonemass without a stone and bog witch haha
lolll
