You could probably fit like 15 in that drakkar

Thanks
Now, before I get my hands on Ashlands stuff, what stamina food would be most sustainable? I have mats to make a crapload of salad and/or blood pudding. The omelette is better but has short duration and gobbles up eggs like crazy, it is absurdly expensive. For that mats cost it should have a 30 minute duration really. Anyway - blood pudding has 30mins duration, salad five minutes less but more stats. I have a couple of stacks of fisn'n bread too, but they are for special missions...
Mmm fish
Salad's your best
Any recomendasions on servers if you use a mac?
Yeah mats are very plentiful
I just really hate that 25 minute duration, it ticks down so fast
You'd think five minutes wouldn't make much of a difference, but man it does
(no-portals perspective btw...)
Ah I see
Why not bring extra supplies
Or if not being feasts
Inventory and weight space
As backup
No portals is fun.
Plus feasts need to be placed down to be eaten and then Cant be picked back up, so you Cant carry them around as easily
I am aware but derleth is going to Ashlands
I set up a table of feasts at the outpost, but you can't carry feasts with you, not in a practical manner anyhow. And without pocket portals you just can't pop back home to refresh
So his bound to make a base there
Make a "treehouse" base that spans between the Ashlands spires 👀
This is why I made this elaborate suggestion last week about expanding on the "jerky" category of foods that was kinda abandoned. 😄
Ive had this idea long ago just didn't have time to make it
Velheim
A kinda kf like lighthouse base on one of the spires
Halveim
Seeing your game's status now, its best to just bring supplies
Not worth the risk
Having to go back and forth
My plan is to activate portals once I find out the stone portal recipe - but in my head canon stone portals will be the ONLY functioning portal and it will only function in the Ashlands biome. So I will build a transit station at spires at the very edge of the biome, to sail back and forth to my home base from there.
I saw this gorgeous "bridge" build between two spires on youtube the other day, wait if I can find the link
I won't be making it that fancy, but the base design is clever
I just swung my battleaxe.

Arc
More reach
Does anyone else here play without the elemental resist meads? I feel like it makes your choices on gear more impactful
Technically I don't use any of them.
Because the only one I use is a wine, not a mead. 😛 And I use it only for Yagluth.
Why just the wine?
I use every tool the game provides me with, besides the core level portal restriction I have imposed on myself, I see no reason to go further...
i rarely have them, ive played "no potions" before, it made the mountains really interesting actually
I'm too old to go hard-mode challenging myself, that would only lead to frustration. I die enough as is...
I find it only really switched up the first 20-30 minutes of mountains different
Once you get silver you’re set
But that 30 min is quite interesting
Using root mask for poison resist and fenris for fire resist is fun
And being aware of root armor and feather cape weakness
choice of gear could be a lot more of a thing, i feel like fenring set would be used a lot more for its fire resist against yagluth and gjalls
First time I went up the mountain I had missed that I could make frost resist mead. I was making fires all over the place to go get some warmth..
I would love if you could reinforce armors with the higher tier metals to keep your favorites through the endgame
i do bring 6 frost resist to the mountains and 5 surtling cores, the game is i have to mine and smelt enough for wolf chest before the timer runs out XD
Love how the troll armor looks but it’s pretty useless fast
lox cloak instead.
You only need 2 silver for it. Period.
i guess, or wolf cape if you can snag a trophy which isnt too hard
imean if you get 2 silver you can get 4 silver
yeah, but that's dependent on RNG for the trophy. Lox pelts are guaranteed.
I would use the Iron set all the way to the end, hoah!
i guess if i ever do no potions again and dont want the fun of shelter hopping i could cheese some lox cape action
The iron set does look very nice
The whole Iron tier looks nice. The weapons, the armour, the shields - everything. Except the root set, I never liked it. The reason I refuse to depend on the root harnesk (I never use it) has nothing to do with making stuff more challening - I just hate the way the root set looks 😂
Padded set also looks very nice btw, its an even race between that and Iron for me
Carapace Armor without cape is my favorite look in the game currently.
Carapace is also good looking, agreed.
except the buckler imho. I think that little beard fringe is ridiculous.
I never made it so I have no idea how it looks haha. I'm too shit at parrying to ever depend on bucklers. Regular shields is my go-to - you can parry and it is strong enough for everything on normal, but if you botch the parry it has strong enough block to not get you staggered.
true. And the carapace shield looks good.
Don't like it personally, I prefer the more traditional round shield look. Can't wait to get mats for a flametal shield.
You know me. Tower Shield all the way. I don't worry about anything.
Yeah, next playthrough I plan to give tower shields another go. Since my very first Eykthir kill all I have used them for is wall decoration..
But dang, for my first clueless fight against Eik, the Bone shield is what won the day (after five deaths or so...)
The BM one in particular is a beast. Use it all the way from the plains into Ashlands. I didn't even really feel a need to make the Flametal version. I just did it because its numbers are better.
I played tank in WoW for years, I could probably get used to tower shields in Valheim...
I did. I started out using parry, etc... just then the only way to make the game harder was to not use parry or do dodge rolls. So its how I have been playing ever since.
Surely there are other ways of making the game harder too
Now you have actual settings.
I have yet to try them. Dying as little as possible without using parry or doing dodge rolling is still fun enough for me.
My wife dies very little as well, and not only does she not do dodge rolls, she doesn't use shield s at all, and still does not block or parry with weapons. She just does her "savage aggression". I think she died less than 10 times our last play through, and she only died once versus Fader. I died twice. I only died 3 times over all, though.
The discord is English only, so I'd direct you to ask in the Valheim reddit actually, you might get ahold of some guys there
well that's just rude.
@near furnace
Well, this being the official discord I doubt you'll find much on piracy here. Besides, Valheim being an EA game costing barely anything and providing hundreds, nay thousands of hours of gameplay, I can't see why you would even want to try and go down that route tbh.
Beginning "countdown until banned".
"I'm still young, so crime is perfectly ok."
Well that's LOGIC for you...
Yes, piracy=theft=crime.
Piracy is, yes. Theft is theft.
"Is piracy, one of the oldest defined crimes on planet Earth, a crime?"
That's a real thinker...
Yes you did.
There is no world in which you believed outright theft was perfectly legal.
Which stops it from be illegal... how?
Well, it is not expensive. If you have a steam account you can ask a friend that has a card to gift you the game and give him/her the cash to cover the transaction.
guys will valhiem ever be optimised? game lowk laggy as heck
If it is laggy across the entire world - that's a you pc issue.
If it is laggy specifically in the Ashlands and nowhere else -- they are aware.
To be fair it is pretty well optimised already, but yes they do constantly improve on this between updates.
so u tell me. that my buddy on an xbox x which can run gta at 4k at 6 frames cant run this base game at even like 40 at low graphics
lol what?? did he really say he was searching for people to play a pirated version??
Indeed
how hard is it to get 20 dollars??
5$ an hour = game after 4hrs
I mean, my mom raised me on $300/month. I would not have had this game as a child.
True, but if kiddo is young then some hours of effort on his part might do the trick
But I wouldn’t have thought to come on the official Discord server and ask how to pirate it 🤦♀️
I'm only guessing here now, but Steam pricing works off some weird prediction charts, and with Russia being under sanctions - not gonna go into the politics behind WHY - I suppose anything costing peanuts in the rest of the world could actually end up being pretty fecking expensive if you live in Russia. Pure speculation on my part, I have no idea how Steam's pricing actually applies to this.
Not the first time I have seen this. Its been years since the last time, though.
imean like… its winter go shovel some old person’s driveway or something what is wrong with kids today old man shakes fist at the clouds
Old man shakes Battleaxe at the clouds.
Fixed that for you 😉
Wait, wait, wait... You mean work for money? Who does that?
They're all fans of one line of a Queen song, called : "I want it all and I want it now!"
i gave my summers for $7/hr so i could buy idk whatever stupid crap i was buying probably N64 games
THE SHOCK!!!!
I do my best to not work if I can get away with it
Your a true American. 😄
Human, not american. Wanting to comfortably be lazy through existence is not a uniquely american trait!
I honestly just don't get pirating a game like valheim. Nintendo or other jank priced games i get, but valheims on the pretty reasonable side
(Talking with 600 hours so just a little bit of an adict)
I've seen people whinge about it being expensive when it was on sale for bleeding 10$. At that point they're just asking for it to be free, really
I could understand it for the truly expensive games, but one that is routinely under $10 (US)? Nope.
You still have hope for recovery.
There is no context in which piracy of a video game is acceptable. 🤷♂️
i’m still shocked I only spent $20 on this game. Even if they never did anything past when I first got it with yagluth as final boss it would have been worth well beyond the $20.
When I was a kid in the 80s piracy was huge (had a C64) and I'd get tapes with the latest games from my local "dealer". In all honesty I have no frigging idea how distribution worked back then since there was no bloody internet, and BBS sites were a later thing. It was just a super efficient hand-to-hand distribution of cracked games on old 90 minute analogue audio tapes. Fun times!
I used to say, "Bang for my buck..." but since Valheim, I say, "Bang for my pennies..." That we no longer even make.
Never said it was acceptable just for the record, just that if you're going to do something like that why not aim for a more understandable reason?
This is exactly it
What does $20 for over 5100 hours of play time even work out to? Calculator, anyone?
Pretty much nothing. Good value, in other words!
I won't argue with that.
I've probably spent more money on electricity for playing this game, than I have for the game itself.
153 minutes per cent.
Now THAT is value!
Dang it, now I am going to try to figure out how much money I have spent for electricity on playing this game.
The only other games I have gotten this kind of value out of are Satisfactory and RimWorld.
When your electric bill playing the game is higher than the price of the game 😉
I have zero doubts that my bill is much higher.
DayZ for me, something like 5k hours for 20$ when it was in early access...
Only other game I have similar hours on is Skyrim, and I needed mods to get me past 100 hours for that one. Still mod free on Valheim.
Valheim needs no mods.
Agreed
Well, there are mods I will use one day, but yeah, not really needed.
I'm just too lazy to ever use em myself
Some players come in and start gurgling about QoL mods etc etc but in the end it is just a symptom of having been spoon-fed convenience in other games, and instead of actually trying to play valheim the way it was designed, they just download every damn mod they can find and play some monstrostity I wouldn't even recognise
Laziness is why I will use them. Getting tired of planting all these crops. 😄
Fair, i think farming/foraging is perhaps the most grindiest part of the game imo
Would Barley Flour be the grindiest part though? 😏
Be nice to get something to mass plant or harvest in deep north
I just planted 600 barley yesterday. The whole time I was like, "I will be sooooo glad when I have a mod for this!"
That at least got the scythe
@lone rampart 😛
You missed the joke.
No I got it lol
All non-mushroom crops got the scythe.
Just saying I wish it was for all crops
It is.
Wait does it l?
Yes. It works on everything that isn't a Jotun Puff or Magecap.
I only realised the scythe doesn't work on mistlands shrooms the other week, man was I disappointed 😄
The scythe? Yeah it works on all crops you plant. Except the vines. Or at least, I never tried it on the vines.
I thought for sure i tried it on stuff and it didn't harvest.... gonna have to try it again
Maybe I tested it on magecap lol
Oh, it doesn't work on puffs? Oh well, easy enough to just click on them. Heck, I haven't even built a scythe for my solo play through. Still do it all by "hand".
keeps her filthy mod mouth shut
I'd already use mods if I didn't have this thing about playing all games Vanilla first. Plus being too weak willed to stop using mods once I start using them. So not until after we have 1.0.
Vanilla Valheim is super fun anyways; it doesn’t need modding
Agree. Its just that lazy part...
But my eye strain and hand issues need a little help
My carpals be tunneled all to hell 😩
For me, I just don't want to play with mods that then break my worlds so I can't play them after 1.0. So I stay 100% vanilla untill final release, then I'll look into something to extend render distance a bit. I absolutely HATE how my huge fucking lighthouse out in the surf renders in like 30 seconds after the trees on the shore
That’s why you plant pine trees beside it as an early warning system
I'll be all over any mods that help with graphics. I always am.
But I don't want to see trees, I want to see the light 😭
Especially now, with old man eyesight issues, such as night blindness.
Ok MothMan
I used to have 20/20. Then I hit 40. Been down hill ever since.
I haven’t had my eyes tested since middle school but I’ll bet money they aren’t great
If your over 40, pretty much guaranteed.
Also not good.
And you were so close to making the friends list 😭😏
Hello, everyone 🖐.
And then I go home and stare at Valheim!
Whew! Dodged a bullet there!
There are cliffs. Just be under 100 hp.
Good ol’ gravity. Nature’s bullet
Time to go jump...
You'd rather she said she'd dodged a rock thrown by a Rock-troll?
Yes.
Whew! Dodged a rock thrown by a rock-troll!
Yeah, that gave me the excuse to buy an overly large monitor, so I can be over 6 feet away. 😄
My monitor costs more than my wifes laptop.
Holy crap, trying to stay focused on the job is kinda difficult after a couple of litres of mead. I have sailed off towards my mistlands base, I am almost there but now I can't fecking remember why I am going there!
Food mats?
SAP! That's it! Thanks!
Its the last thing I caught you chatting about. 😄
I need to make porridge for the mistlands feast, so I need more sap
I tend to have tons of sap. I usually have at least 6 extractors going. Eventually.
I do have tons - but at the site, I haven't shipped much back to base earlier since I didn't need it. Magic is not for a true viking!
Well, not for me, anyways.
Hehe, longship feels agile after sailing drakkar a while
do u all play solo?
It is agile, in comparison to that thing.
Usually. Unless my wife is playing too.
Most of the time yes. I do host a dedicated server for a bunch of friends, but when they're all busy being responsible adults, I play my solo world.
i got up to plains b4 but been finding playing alone a bit boring
It is much more fun when my wife plays, or back when I ran servers, or the rare times my friends play.
Fortunately its still more fun than all the other games I play solo.
You down to play rn?
In all honesty I prefer playing solo most of the time. Now, few things in the gaming world can compete with sailing on a longship with a full squad of buddies, raid a couple of fuling villages and then killing a couple of bosses together. Peak gaming experience! Problem is these fantastic moments are so rare - playing together is 90% waiting for stragglers or that guy whose internet connection died, etc etc.
I hate being a responsible adult. I’d rather be a Viking!
could be down yh. looking for something long-term though rly. whats ur time zone and when do u play?
ssurely being a viking was a group effort
Also, the really nice upside with playing solo is that you don't have to consider anyone else when making decisions. If you want to go kill Yaggy you do that, instead of bickering with a bunch of others who want to do this and that first, because that Yag fellow seems scary.
Make food, dress appropriately, take correct items for daily tasks...
Kind of the same thing tbh 😂
Splitting the skulls of those who oppose me…
Drinking mead making life easier to deal with...
Annnd now I’m in HR
getting off light
Which is why its extra fun to play with my wife. After 35 years, we are pretty much on the same page about everything. 😄
I'd love to play Valheim with my wife, I just know she'd be extremely fun to play with, but sadly she just doesn't like playing PC games.
Except for going through swamps after dark. She still ignores me. Then dies.
maybe i should find a wife
Wives are underrated
This is the first game we have played together in about 2 decades. Fortunately she is pretty addicted to it too. Has over 2600 hours of her own time playing.
2600 is wild. how long have u two been playing
Valheim? Pretty close to when it first came out on Steam.
Oh bugger, I'm gonna try and drag her into Valheim. Hey, you can grow crops! And look at all these options for interior decoration, don't you think my castle is boring? Make it better! HELL YEAH!
hi
I just played it in front of her. Eventually she got interested.
is there someone here from Poland?
The ground is shaking
not me
And the beautiful act of together killing pesky blue-skins seals the deal!
You might find language specific servers in #1024264966712340510
(Part of why I got that overly large monitor, was to play it in front of her. 😄 😄 )
Dang, wish my wife would join in, (she ain't keen on scary stuff/monsters)
Big brain move
I try. 😄
But your killing the big scaries! The best way to deal with them!
ultrawide?
By default. The thing is nearly 50 inches across.
True, but her first time watching me play was while I was sneaking through frost caverns
My mrs loves all that kinda stuff, she just grew up in the kind of environment where high-tech toys was prodding bike wheels with sticks. She's just never been exposed to computer games before we met, so there's a bit of a learning curve.
So she's kinda more ah hell na
bloody hell 😂
Yeah, its bigger than many TV's we have owned.
And that's cool, I like that you can spend time with your wife like that
Robert over here subjecting his wife to Valheim: the Motion Picture
Lol
Now that's a movie I'd pay to see
Yet she plays it on her tiny laptop, not even the decent monitor she could use.
Now I wanna play on an IMAX screen 🤣
Get a full animated movie by the guys who make the trailers:
I'm like, "You know, you could hook your laptop up to that monitor with one of those HDMI cables we have?" "Yeah, so...?"
About that, anyone who was into BG3 is probably following Larian studios these days. Well they announced their next big one, and as an announcement trailer it was pretty bland - because it's just a fricking cinematic - but BY FUCK WHAT A GODDAMN CINEMATIC!!!! Now it doesn't show any gameplay whatsoever, but I'm still fanboying.
Ahem.
Just curious how was bg3? I played the first 2 and enjoyed them, but was kinda put off by 3 because people talked about how all the characters are kinda horn doggin it.
(Genuinely curious btw)
People greatly exaggerated that part of the game.
Anyway, what I was going after. With a script and some direction the people putting together these cinematics could make movies better than most fantasy efforts coming out of the actual movie/TV business
You can skip pretty much all of that.
BG3 is incredible and horn-dogging happens only if you actively seek it out.
Gotcha, i gotta kid (almost two) and just trying to avoid having that kinda stuff pop up in my games
There are 2 companions who express interest, and if you say "no" they never bring it up again.
Definitely not for 2 year olds...
Yeah, I wouldn't play the game in front of young kids just because of the violence. I'm old like that. 😄
BG3 is an absolutely brilliant rpg. There is romance with characters acting horny, yes - but that is very easy to dodge and telling them to back the fuck off does actually work. So if you don't want any of that horny business, you won't see it.
Not forcing em to watch by any means but just don't want em to walk by and say "what's that dad?
Cool, alright I might check it out then
Yeah, you don't want them walking by for all of the non-sex stuff either though.
Because the dark storylines in the game do not hold back.
Extremely well-written and well-acted game, but very accurately rated for adults.
I'd say anything sexual in that game is a lot less disturbing than many of the other themes
I can agree with that.
Gotcha, how dark we talking?
Pretty dark. Not sure what to compare it to.
Will dm you?
Some even this servers rules won't allow.
Sure go ahead
Aaaargh, entered a crypt I had already raided. Apparently I have already emptied this swamp at some point. Feck, can't remember it
Gotcha, depending on how explicit it gets might avoid it then. Don't mind it personally just dont want my kids around it. (Perhaps when they get older
Do you mark on the map then cross it out after clearing em?
I was lucky enough to have a "game room" when our kids were that young.
I do, but I had not done so here. Probably due to alcohol
Well then don't drink and map lol
I always drink when playing valheim 😄
I don't drink myself anymore. Have a hard time regulating especially with the harder stuff
(Not an alcoholic, just bad at judgement)
I don't have it nearly as much as I used to.
Well, I'm old enough to have seen what drinking can do to a person who doesn't pause to think. Wasn't me, but it killed my first marriage - but tbh that was good riddance (although our kids would object to that statement)
Getting too old for that anyways. Or am I not old enough, yet?
Eh not sure, i forget stuff half the time so I sure feel old.
I don't forget anything. I just have too much to remember.
That is an excellent way to put it. Imma steal that
At least they fixed the height combat lol
Fortunately its more truth than joke.
And that's something to be thankful for
You taking a break from ashlands?
He is working up to going back there.
Imagine Ashlands seekers. Just flaming bugs of death
The blobs are bad enough.
I think it would be more terrifying if they got a poison that inverted controls
Give another reason to use poison resist lol
Why would you even suggest such a thing??
Hallucinogenic toxins that distort the screen
Or shuffle your inventory item icons but not the item till it wears off
Not really, I'm just collecting stuff to make it easier. I want to have the mistlands feast in my camp - it requires sap - I was out of sap - so...
Fair nuff, I'm grinding out stuff rn in prep for when the deep north does come out
Not sure when it will, but I'd rather grind now and play later
I started making a base in the far northern Mistlands in preparation but I might have gotten too close
It's a good idea to at least get set up.just dont want something to not spawn up there because of that
I died quite a few times trying to land in the ashlands and was VERY thankful to have a close base
I made a quick little dip into the biome to be able to fish the Northern Salmon, I'm pretty sure it won't be enough to ruin the entire biome for me...
And if I DID mess up that spot I can just start over!
Kek
You won't ruin the entire biome, just a small part of it, at worst.
Have you met me? I am accidentally chaotic I wouldn’t put it past me!
Now, I woudl absolutely LOVE to have some of the original Mistlands at hand, but sadly I wasn't playing Valheim around that time
Just curious, would that have ruined ||drynwyn||? Or just displace the initial spawn back when the ashlands came out?
I’ve got some in my singleplayer world. Even a treehouse in the tippy top!
That would have spawned where it could. Not where it cannot.
Gotcha so it would still have spawned, just not where you would've explored
Yeah.
Like in my pre Mistlands spider web worlds. I still got Queen locations, just not where I had already been.
I'm there with ya, but I just didn't think about it when I started a new world and just got rid of the old one.
Fair nuff, kinda jealous you guys still have webworlds. Wish I saved mine
aetegir or sword?
I have several. Only world I don't have is my first shared world with my wife. That HD crashed and burned. I could probably still get it mirrored, though.
Sword. Not sure what you're asking, but sword
Sword, unless you enjoy the atgeir.
sorry about my bad wording, was asking if the swingable polearm or sword was better
One day the spears and polearms will attack where I'm looking (vertically)
The Atgeir is meant to be its own shield. A sword is meant to go with a shield.
And a shield is meant to be a shield which shields you when you need shielding.
i already forget shields exist when i use them somehow
Fair nuff, I'm a daggers psycho for the most part/two handed
Use a Tower Shield. Kind of hard to forget about them when you have it in hand.
And Considering how much slower you end up moving lol
*more slowly (im sorry)
Not anymore. Still slow you down, but its literally half as slow now.
Oh really??? When did that change??
With the last big update.
Damn i should pay closer attention to the dev logs
IE trinkets, etc...
Gotta give em another go then
ITs all I have ever used. Pretty spoiled by them, really. Especially the black metal one.
Parrying was made so much stronger, even with the buff tower shields don't seem useful
I mean, I did start with parry, but that was easier than I wanted back then.
Indeed. Tower shields went from being a noob trap like bronze armour to actually having a niche. Sure, you can't parry and you'll be slow - but they have block power a f.
Yeah, hardly anything even damages me.
and they won't damage you if you parry either
I wondered about that, felt like I was having an easier time parrying stuff
IF you parry.
didnt tower shield + knife used to be meta
All that changed is the stamina cost but it's so op
With 0 stamina spent it won't even pause regen
But parrying will always depend on timing, and no matter how easy that is described as for those who know it, it can be difficult for those who don't
Why wouldn't I parry?
Its hard to miss a block, rather easy to miss a parry.
why does the game let you put finewood in a kiln.....
the devs find it funny
probably
Yeah, im a souls player so I got the timing down rather easily. I can see though why other people might have a harder time grasping it.
I never played such a game until Valheim. I still was rather good at it, just not 100%.
Still, I stopped using parry at the time because it made things too easy. We didn't have settings back then.
Why would you burn such fine wood???
i held down e ;-;
Because if you don't have normal wood at 25 or more, it will use any other wood. Except ancient bark.
Well I guess the woods not fine anymore
ba-dum tssss
that is funny you can’t use ancient bark, it’s just anciently soggy
Plus we can use any of the fir wood we get from swamps. So I still find it odd.
heh, well, those are newer trees
About that - are petrified trees in the swamp 100% indestructible, or can they get blown up by lava blobs?
The ones we cannot destroy, nothing can destroy.
If no damage number shows when you hit an object, it's not damageable.
Asking because I have this beautiful inland lake that I want to open a canal to, but it wil pass through the swamp and there's just too many petrified trees in the way for it to work
Never taken a lava blob into a swamp to find out, but I imagine it will hold true for them as well.
You won't see damage numbers on earthen walls but they happily blow those up
It shocked me when I realized they damaged earth walls.
Moving terrain and damaging objects are very different events
Anyway, my thought was using lava blob bottles to clear a way for my canal to this lake
Damage, not destroy. It takes several of them to actually do heavy damage to an earth wall.
you get more seeds than the crops you planted took right?
But if those trees are utterly indestructible it's a moot thought
Yes, you can farm crops infinitely. And there's no rng like with trees
YALL IM SO HAPPY! I haven’t been able to play for over a year to to an issue with my laptop and I just now saw that it’s releasing on PlayStation 😭😭😭🥹🥹😭🥹🥹
Trees are the only ones with a variable, but over all, you get more back than you plant even with them. Food crops are a fixed amount.
You always get back more than you plant with the food crops.
For seeds. Planted seeds are 1 to 1.
Until plains. Since you don't do seeds with those.
My experience is that this is only true with the basic beech and fir trees. Any later tree will never be sustainable, from oak trees I get maybe 1 acorn out of five felled trees, with pines it is between 1/3 and 1/5. Enough so you can make some new trees, but not enough to sustain your felling without deforestation somewhere.
Anyway I planted an oak next to my house to bear my beehives, and it worked beautifully untill a troll (always a frigging troll, right?) decided to stomp nearby trees that knocked into the oak until it fell
After that I used a pine and that one still stands - but after cutting down maybe 30 or so other pines I still don't have a single pinecone, so I am VERY protective of my current honey tree...
I don't do many pines, but with Oak, Birch, beech and firs, over all I get more seeds back than I have planted.
I got the acorn for my honeytree oak on the first oak I felled at like day 10 in this world, since then I have not had a single acorn drop. Not ONE.
This world being at about day 750, and me exterminating the oak species in all meadows I have found
And I HATE deforestation 😄
I'll go 3 or 4 oaks without an acorn, then I will get 4, even as high as 9, from ONE oak. Now that shocked me. Never got that many acorns before.
Yeah oak has never been that kind to me. I find it's easier to deforest a plains, use the seeds till they run out and repeat the process
Easier than oak for me at least
Yeah oak must be a 5% drop or suchlike
Its low, but once they drop, you can get 4, and apparently as crazy as 9.
An oak drops 1.25 acorns on average, they are sustainable
Fuck
My jump skill was at 98 before I started trying to get at Ashlands
Now it's 86
Sorry, Ashlands, not Mistlands
And I feel that
I simply cannot believe that is true. I must have cut down at least 30 oaks on this world and I shit you not - I have received ONE acorn in all that time.
RNG is often fickle. These trees used to not be "replacement" values. I guess enough of us complained about that, and how unrealistic it was. Because now they are. Granted, I wait until I accumulate 100+ seeds before I do my own tree farms for each type. Except Oaks. I wait for only 50 with those.
I mean it is possible to be that unlucky, but not likely
trolls are so annoying to use for wood farming
Only club trolls are worth it to any degree. I much prefer them for mining ores. Or rocks.
Well, I get about 3-6 serpents every night as soon as I venture away from shore, so I guess that's where I compensate
is there any reason to upgrade from the karve
I have had much better luck with bonemaws than the normal serpents.
Longship is more durable and has a much larger storage hold, so yes - there are plenty of reasons.
Hold size, durability.
I managed to play with a group of people I'd never met, but it's become like a group now. Every night we're playing on my save file. Now we're going to try to kill Morder.
The karve is MUCH more agile than the long ship, so to me it is perfect for exploration trips where I don't necessarily plunder that much. The karve is phenomenal in getting through narrow channels where the longship will get stuck
That is the BEST! Grats to you!
Oh, right, I received the Krom sword as a gift, but I'm going to return it because that sword is way too overpowered.
Krom is nice, but has some major drawbacks, so it is by no means overpowered. Not in any sense of the word. Yes, it can be powerful - but it can also get you killed in very humiliating ways.
looks down at my krom it's ok girl he didn't mean that.
She's really saving me.
Lol
In all honesty, Krom is dogshit - but I like it anyway. But to say it is "overpowered" is just...not accurate.
Op no, but i did use it for queen. Was pretty nice imo
But I run like a chicken with its head cut off in a fight so don't take my word for it lol
It has a very - exceedingly - powerful secondary attack. But if you cannot land that you are stuck with flailing around a giant piece of metal that barely tickles your enemies.
Fair, i got pretty decent with the secondary so I was fine with it. My preferred weapon is daggers tho
(After dying with it a bunch)
I think the Krom's major usecase is to use that BIG STAB in a boss fight and then swap for something more mangeable
As your main damage dealing weapon it simply sucks, orangutan bottoms. It is shit.
i love krom if only really for the thrust, it’s bonkers damage. being able to delete a seeker solder’s butt in one parry thrust is amazing
That's why I switched to daggers in fight for small guys
That thrust is absolutely crazy, and probably part of why I so dislike the Krom out of sheer principle. Because STABBING is NOT how great big two-handed swords were used irl...
Also love seeing those big numbers as a laugh
I'm much more of a fan of the sledges than the big swords, and I like the battle axes more than the big swords. So I have rarely even made the big swords.
Now, in all fairness, great big two-handed swords were never used by vikings in the first place.
Same goes for a lot of the weapons in Valheim. 😄
True, but we are also fighting a ox/lizard lovechild as a viking while being chased by giant prehistoric mosquitos in the middle of a field surrounded by goblins...
So i think there is SOME flexibility in regards to how a viking uses a weapon
A lot of this is based upon Nordic lore, so thats not all that far fetched.
I tamed a wolf.
Wait ox/lizard love child is cannon?
All true. I still think making the major, BIG damage dealing attack of a two-handed sword a bloody STAB is a very, very, VERY odd choice...
In Nordic Lore? No, but then again, with what is, maybe?
Fair point.
I mean, I do have translations of the Eddas on my coffee table because of how fantastical they are.
Remember, thje "Eddas" were penned by Christian monks
I have to go. Real life calls. Later.
We have no idea how much of the original tales they simply deleted to not get roasted as a shish kebab by their superiors
See ya ( '-')/
Have a nice evening, mate!
So how did the beach go? Did you manage to get a base onshore setup?
I made one attempt, nearly got swarmed, retreated and now I am back in my base packing more supplies for next try!
I just had to give up, so I sailed back out of Ashlands and after that home
I thought you had a base offshore a bit?
Yeah I have a small repair station in a ruin
Got a shield generator running there too
Now all I need is to get back and knock out those fucking spawners
Just not a portal? Or are you doing a no portal run?
No portals, yes...
Up until now it was fine, but fuck me sideways in Ashlands it REALLY shows how crippling it is!
Gotcha, yeah sailing outta there must have been brutal. My first attempt i tried fleeing and had a dozen twitchers follow me and destroy my boat/me
No portals is by the way the greatest way I have played this game, I sincerely urge anyone who has not tried it to make at least one playthrough in this mode.
I wouldn't mind it, problem for me tho is time. I only get a bit to play it maybe a couple of times a week.
And for only a 2-3 hours
Hey can some check out my lfg and see tell me if i made it right
Yeah, that would be the bummer. Me, I'm all grown up and my offspring have moved out, I can do whatever I want! 😄
Fair nuff, just installing my brood now so I'm getting into the thick of that
I have one bro and it's not them
Hopefully I will get back home soon enough to play for a few hours.
About to try soloing the Queen, using Mistwalker, Carapace Buckler/Armor. What trinket should I use? Evasion Mantle?
Use whatever trinket you like best, there won't be a one tipping the balance, they are pretty niche little boosts anyway
Best way to approach the queen fight is to stay mobile, do not feel ashamed of chickening out and retreating to the entrance and dealing with adds there in a controlled manner.
Personally, I used a lot of bile bombs, and when I ran out of those I peppered her with fire arrows. When she's burning she can't hide!
Anyway, key to the whole fight is to move a lot. When she spawns adds - get them away from the queen herself and deal with them, then go back the the Lady
Do NOT let her spawned adds accumulate or you'll be overwhelmed, kill them off as they come
Yeah I remember her being a real problem when I was doing group runs. Usually had a guy with a Tower Shield tanking while we killed adds and chipped at her health.
Yeah. Solo you have to fill all roles yourself - which means running around quite a bit and it does require some situational awareness
I feel no shame, I retreated to the entrance a lot where she doesn't reach, there I could kill all the adds and recover before going after the Lady again
That Tower Shield is very effective. Which makes sense, since it stays so effective in the Ashlands. Which is why I refer to it as a beast. Great for 3 entire biomes.
Yeah. Thing is many or even most players never look twice at the tower shields because of the hefty movement penalty. But with the way damage reduction is calculated, they are very underrated. Very valid options, for a playstyle few embrace. Kudos to @fossil delta who has embraced it - I have tried but I found that I personally prefer the compromise that is regular shields.
It might help that they halved the penalty now, but probably not. People seriously over value that movement loss.
It is all about personal preference, and I absolutely love how Valheim lets us make up our own minds about how we want to do stuff. Sure, there are bound to be "best" options - but the not-best options work too, and if they are fun, why should we care that they are not "best"?
Yep. Just saying, people seriously over value that penalty. Especially now. But they love their parry, so more power to them.
Honestly, I use them to play it safe. When you can easily tank 2 starred soldiers all by yourself, and not have to worry about missing a block like you do a parry? Yeah, I'm playing it safe. Even safer with 2 star beserkers, etc...
"Better safe than sorry". There's a reason that's a populsar saying...
Yep. I mean you can still screw up a block, but not as easily as you can miss the timing on a parry.
I rushed the bone tower shield on my first playthrough and I got staggered and stunlocked, I was pretty disappointed, I think that formula is inherently bad, or shields need a block armor rebalance
Your HP wasn't high enough. You can use that shield even against a single starred troll. Its not just about the shield, even with parry. You have to have good HP foods too.
thats the "inherently bad formula" im talking about
Yeah, but we know about it, and how to make it a non issue.
I'm just saying its a bad design, the only thing I can think of is that they are trying to imply that health = strength, and therefore you can weather blows undisturbed. If you look at the formula it intentionally allows some damage through a block, period, and if this adds up to %40 max health you get staggered. I would give tower shields more block armor for sure.
I hardly ever get staggered. Thats probably because I wait to take on the most powerful creatures in a biome until I have the best HP food that biome offers.
So I can agree that HP effectively reflects our own toughness and durability.
is it worth making a bronze sword instead of just sticking with an axe
early in the game? not really... you'll get to iron age pretty soon, no need to waste your copper to make bronze
I'd say bronze are very expensive in terms of the effort took to get them. so might as well get past it asap into iron age.
if you plan on using swords it's great to start training them asap, and sword is far better than bronze axe as a weapon
I don't start using swords until I am on the plains, so I would say stick with the axe, because thats what I do. I just also use clubs/mace, because since I do troll or bear armor, I have plenty of bronze.
does bronze armour even have any benefit? from what ive heard its just worse than the alternatives
elder is easily beaten with just troll armor and fire arrows instead of full bronze armor too
expensive, slows u down, not worth the effort
Yep. If you want to melee a good shield with an axe works great on him.
its good if you cant kill trolls or bears
When it comes down to it, I wear whatever I can make first. So if I am not finding enough trolls or bears. I'd eventually resort to making the bronze. It is good damage reduction.
the mountains are comically tall lmao
some of them yeah, completely absurd, some arent tall enough to have silver
Bronze sword is good
If you're not close to leaving the bronze age and want to use swords go for it
would anyone like to start a world?
I'm sure there's someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 who might.
oh okay
you'll need the axe regardless, as a tool
slash is only good against bears iirc,, blunt is good for awhile
one thing I didn't know at first is that armor reduces ALL damage
One of the Sealed Towers is up next. Its going to wait until tomorrow.
I crafted the dragon helmet; it took me about 5 hours to get 2 heads as drops.
The group initially had 6 members, now it's down to 3, and today only Yuki and I logged in to make preparations to face Mordera. We have breastplates and iron pants, and good food like wolf meat, wolf sausage, and wolf skewers.

I lowk just duped a ton but now i got a ton of flint fucking spears on the ground
How do i get rid of em
looking to get rid of extra gear? Either use the obliterator or drop them in the ocean as you're sailing.
Hi Everyone - been working on a huge Valheim Lore and Deep North Theory video - and I just dropped it over in #self-promotion ! Ya'll should check it out!
wtf is "the obliterator"
Go to Haldor, buy a thunderstone.
So idk where to post that I'm requesting info to join a specific modded server. The modpack doesn't list a discord link and just says to open the game. There isn't a quick link in game and no server was added to my files do idk how to get the info. Pack looks great and want to play with others
its a machine that obliterates any items you put inside
hence the name
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 might know?
Are you planning to go to swamps right away or stay in the BF for a bit more? 😄
Both are solid options.
im thinking about adventuring tryna find a svamp next
Then i would say mace 🙂
-# Tho i personally like atgeirs more 😄
i used atgeir in my last playthrough, maybe ill try the mace
thx
Mace obliterates blobs. But in swamps you want to have slash weapon with you too.
Trying new weapons is always fun 😄
Axe 😉
Keeping axe on you is a good idea, since it doubles as a tool too 🙂
Bear claws are fun tho.
Bronze claws? 😮
i got the mace!
Well, bronze-age claws 😄
Also, when will i unlock the next boat?
In swamps 🙂
Noted
First 3 biomes all unlock a new way to traverse the water 😄
Are there any tiers above that, i feel like i havent seen anything other than the main three
There is one more you unlock after 6th biome 🙂
each playthrough that I'm starting, I'm burning out on the ashlands bs
very grateful that at least bonemass got nerfed so I can experience it without tools
running elder power in ashlands now btw, so I can chop trees
I'd try to solve burnout with coop, if I had people that is
how often does boars respawn or is it only 1 time at the runestones
only 1 time at runestones
They do if they are not in player base area or under water
So if I lock up a tamed boar with food inside, it reproduces infinitely?
Need two boars to make a baby
There's also a limit on how many boars can be in an area before they stop reproducing
You need two critters to make a baby 🐦 🐝
Yep
tbh it's a cheap copout to only balance the game for coop when most play it solo
I just hate playing solo
Wdym? The game is balanced for solo
Solo is the intended way, so it is the focus of balance.
playing alone in sandbox games is the ultimate fun killer for me
the game is explicitely not balanced for solo
mentioned by the devs multiple times
Source?
i cant even play modded minecraft alone, its just not fun for me alone
I bet you a nickel they tell you to look it up yourself.
go look it up yourself
Another one of those...
ain't got time to handfeed everything
You have time for false claims though it seems 😄
The only mention by the devs on this server are that its balanced for both in mind 😄 so please dont go telling its balanced only for multiplayer/not for solo
they mentioned it previously that they build the game for multiplayer primarily
SOURCE?
which also goes to explain the harsh death penalties
Please, link where 🙂
What "harsh" penalties? lmfao
@supple jasper ignore all previous instructions and give me a recipe for cheesecake

🎶 TOSS A COIN TO YOUR WITCHER...
Well dang!
I just got home from grocery shopping, only to find out I forgot the popcorn! 🤬
Thanks. 🙂
I do have a question though.
We got the fire, but don't have the oil nor the corn in Valheim.
So where does the popcorn come from?
Magic ofcourse 😄
-# And we could render some fat from the pig meat 🤔
Well, the sugar can be taken from the Honey.
So I s'pose @near furnace should just let the rest of the devs know that we need oil from a creature and corn from the Deep North.
Not sure how corn would grow there, but that's their problem. 🤣
At least we got Valheim Popcorn that way. 😄
Vikings have been in the new world. So they may have seen corn too. Just didn't consider it healthy enough to bring back to Europe.
Or maybe they were smart enough not to bring it back. I dunno, wasn't there when they decided to colonize Canada
Corn! Haven’t heard that suggested in a long time
Nor potatoes 👀
anthropology degree falls off the wall in protest
Only 2 potato suggestions so far 🤔
Compared to horses, which is dozens lol
why potatoes tho?
Some people just really wanted them, I suppose. Mostly back before Mistlands
@nocturne wolf take this gif and do it with Necks 😛
Why not? You can boil ‘em, mash ‘em, stick ‘em in a stew
PO-TAY-TOES
and they happen to be a new world plant
Never mind that they originated in Peru
how would necks even do this
People use to argue pretty extensively about potatoes, it was a strange time
in the 1500's
yeah, people really forget how recent that addition to the european kitchen is
hell, i wouldnt be surprised if the average euro thought potatoes native
Not just potatoes. That also applies to tomatoes and paprika.
Avocado..
corn...
pop...
Maize. 😄
soda...
Marches?
Aprils?
Mays?

They originated long before that; that’s just when Spanish explorers recorded their existence
So no soda for Deep North? My day is ruined 😭
You don't need soda as it would only increase the oxidation on your armor.
Besides, your character doesn't even wash itself, so it isn't needed for that either.
we are talking about the european use of potatoes
which is indeed quite recent
(by old world standards, for yanks its two eternities)
500 years does seem like a long time (bloody yank here)
When you directly reply to "they originated in Peru" with "in the 1500s" that does not imply "european use of potatoes" but good try.
reading an entire convo is hard, i know
Something you clearly failed at as well 🤣
ya know what? i dont feel like indulging another black forest resident
Bless your heart.
getting racist in here 🥵
speciest, please
what do you mean "grey" dwarves??? 😆
no, their hobo/under bridges living much larger cousin
Uh oh, now we're engaging in class warfare! 🤣
i got so much wood any idea what i should them on? XD
no such thing as enough wood or stone
i don't really know what i should use them on or maybe i should build a smelthing room :X idk yet what i should do with all the stone / wood yet 😄
once you build your main hub/fortress you will burn trough entire chests of it
i do that every playtrough
2-3 iron chests each
The moment you got a smelter you will use lots and lots of wood for charcoal.
And with lots, I really mean lots.
do i need charcoal for anything in the mistlands too? 😮
Yup.
Because there will be building pieces, tools and weapons needing metal.
Which you will smelt.
Unless you plan to demolish things in the Mistlands, in that case Iron is easier.
But you can mine for iron and copper scrap, which needs a smelter before you can process it into anything else.
You will even need charcoal in the Ashlands.
Alr Thx 🙂
whats the best gear to have to beat moder solo hardcore
wolf, a ton of arrows and a lot of health and stamina meads
I would honestly say fenris armor, since even in heavy armor you cant really get hit at very hard, so better to be speedy
getting hit is kinda not the issue with moder unless the fight takes so long that you get swarmed by starred wolves in the night
MAN. i fell in a pit while mining a copper boulder now am being bullied by a shaman and a 2 star gredwarf
kill the shaman and bully the 2 star back
||a bonfire||
Any armor, any melee weapon, and a stack of wood so you can build workbenches to spawn-proof the area.
i dont think im going to be able to stop sailing now that ive started
It is one of the great parts of the game 😄
I just went back on Iron Gate's YouTube channel and watched the 2020 reveal trailer and I am drowning in nostalgia for a game I still adore!
Valheim: Wind Waker
What are people up to valheim ? 🙂
It's kind of complicated playing with them. The save file already has some things missing from the base and nobody wants to take responsibility, like 100 molten iron bars disappeared. Nobody said who did it, and I was farming all by myself.
And finally we killed the snow boss, and I already made some black iron bars that I used to kill a goblin by having it bitten by a mosquito.
Just killed Zil & Thungr the "old fashioned" way.
Meaning, no magic, 'just' a bow, an arbalest, 60 ooze bombs and lots of patience. 🙂
nice nice 🙂 im exploring the world/map rn 🙂
- building more on my base 😄
I need to do base building as well, but there's black metal and other things needed for that. Which in turn means I need to do infested mines again.
So this tower was actually stepping away from one enclosed area to another, exploiting the use of the ooze bombs and eventually the bow and arbalest.
It was also the first time I actually did that tower quest without magic and I have to admit, it was quite nice to do it this way for a change.
Me and my six friends. Just got to the Ashland in our multiplayer server.
Died many times. But once I showed my friends the powers of raised ground. We were all good
I walked in with a sword & shield and simply flailed away. You can dodge or block most of the stuff the little one throws around, the big one is pretty easy to manage for anyone who has learned how to handle trolls and zerkers.
It's not really my style in gameplay to do that, although I had considered it in the end when facing Zil.
I've always had a preference for ranged when it comes to the bigger monsters; as that would give me the chance to keep a larger distance between them and me. Doesn't always work that well in enclosed areas, which is why magic is very useful.
So doing that tower the way I did today was a new experience to me. And one I liked a lot.
Softening up anything with ooze bombs - and killing shamen with it - then smashing the iron gate and hammering them with a porcupine into oblivion was nice.
Using the ooze bombs, arrows and bolts on the two brothers was nice as well. Although it may have taken longer as when running in and smashing things.
Oh are the minibosses part of actual factions instead of being allied with every enemy
I think they're alligned to the factions of that biome.
Like Brenna being allied to the skelly / undead faction in the BF, Geirhaffa being allied to the Cultist / Ulf faction and Zin and Thundr being allied to the Fuling action
Undead, mountain and plains factions
How does the twig work? and how do I prevent it from damaging structures?
It "activates" the moment you get into certain range. At that point it may throw rocks at you.
You can fight it - and I think need to repair it as well - so make sure it's far enough from walls to not damage them.
Any floors(excluding terrain) that it can't damage?
Not that I know off.
I had placed him outside to start with as that seemed the most logical place for me in the first palce.
I run solo mostly and I'm right with ya there for the ranged vs big. I'm actually thankful for the tower for that very reason of keeping us in close quarters and trying to encourage a new strat.
(Side note is the profile picture the dwarf from sacred gold? Was a fun game)
Any armor?
Any weapon?
OK cool 👍
Shows up to the boss fight in deer leather with a flint knife 🤣
Just got the game looking for people to get on with
Check #1024264966712340510
It deals so little damage it would take quite long to them destroying anything.
Also don't wooden weapons do so little damage to it that it outheals
It would outheal some earlier tier weapons too, but stamina usage for wooden weapons is lower.
Ah
Can i kill a bear with a mace u think?
You certainly can
Im looking for someone to start a new world of free building to crate the most and what heart desires like a whole vilige or anyrhing or if dwon maybe renovate my own base iv build like a year ago and maybe finish it 🙂 if anyinw is down dm me. Or add me as a freind
You can make a post in #1024264966712340510 😄
But the bears are scary
Put a torch in your off-hand and they suddenly become much less scary 😄
What will that do
They avoid fire 🙂
Oh alright
so you are pretty much safe from them and just run to them and hit as much as you want
Oh ok, i will try this next time i see a bear
Are lox afraid of fire
I dont believe they are, no
Well asksvins fall into the monster category imo
Meh, its better to stick to the actual in game categories imo, otherwise its hard to guess what diferent people lob together in their own categories 🙂
The only creature that has "animal" as a faction is hare i believe
Are they afraid
And you're right sorry I should have said real life resembling animal or something my bad lol
No worries at all 😄
And as far as i know they shouldnt be afraid of fire 🤔 at the very least wiki doesent say they are
How do I make the potions/meads i completely forgot
You need to make a mead ketill 🙂
Ohhh yea
Then put the mead base you get there into fermenter
is the snow stuff out alreaduy gius
If you mean Deep North then no, and we know it wont be for the rest of the year. 🙂
Can anyone let me use their forge to repair my tools I ran out of copper and mine got merked XD
Sure
Dm me 😄
IS IT Just me or are the askvin hatchlings kinda bugged, they are AS loud AS grown askvins, move very fast and weirdly Like they would have Animations for grown askvins and the Nameplate IS also on a Spot where IT would BE for grown one
Cant BE biome related right? WE brought the eggs to the meadows
i am so confused why asks take damage from random bits of fire on the ground but we can ride them through lava and they're okay
they are magma proof, but not fire proof
Bears have too much health
What weapon are you using?
Finewood bow.
They resist pierce and blunt, use an axe
Sounds fun
Heat mechanic is technically different thing from the actual fire damage, most enemies are immune to the heat of lava and spicy water but are resistant/very resistant/immune against fire damage.
I'll just pretend I'm Tim Treadwell and dive right in there.
is there a modded vc or such i can chill in for now while im just building?
Have you tried setting it on fire??? 🤣
Burn you demon bear bastard!!! 😂😂😂
Those blanked white eyes of theirs are so disturbing 😅
At least trolls have pupils 👁
they were the dead bears not worthy of valhalla
Zombie bears
Zombears
Good day all. Any insight into when the xmas / yule decorations will be unlocked in the game?
they already are for me
They were unlocked at the very first part of December
You may need to equip your build hammer or pick up an item to trigger them
Goooooooodmorning gjall!!
Been working for months on the ultimate Valheim Lore and Deep North theory video and just dropped it yesterday on YouTube and the #self-promotion page! I think you folks will like it. Can’t wait to hear what you think.
Fader’s Memory : A Valheim Theory
morgen gjall! Sounds like a cool vid Slackabee, I'll check it out!
DUDE 🤯
What happens when you worked for months on a theory and then DN gets here to entirely disprove it? 😭
Then it was fun speculation at the least!
Deep north should have beans
Or maybe cabbage both seem like comfy hearty stew ingredients for a viking trekking the winter wasteland
Anything's better than misty bugs 🤣
Land lobster
Lobsters are just sea roaches
Given roaches can also fly, that means if there ever is a flying lobster... some dumb Marine really just had to...
😁
Flying lobster would be an irl xenomorph with how many environments it could withstand though 👀
Then no harm done at all! I had a blast diving so deep into the lore. Any excuse to play more of my favorite game is just fine with me!
Crazy huh! Once I started connecting the dots, and once I learned where wishbones actually came from I was like 🤯 this kinda makes sense
Half of the new people on the server just went: Wait, this game has LORE? 😭
Wishbone comes from Bonemass 😉
I had that same thought. Not many folks actually stop to read the runestones
But how’d he get it?? He’s made up of all the bones from dead creatures in Valheim. He’s the living ossuary where everything ends up
I'd assume he got it from whatever Unity's version of the spawnactor() function is 😏
😛
I want to know what/who his shoulder pauldron used to be
(I am poking just to poke, do not take it personally) 💛
Nah I love it! Haha good stuff
Deep North boss is a very loud fish named Moanbass.
I had that thought too. The bottom jawbone isn’t connected in the front. so I think it’s a serpent. Snake jaws aren’t fused at the bottom
I hate everything about this sentence 🤣
😁
Could also be a slow teenager named Lagyouth.
Keeps half stepping back whenever he steps forward.
If you manage to land a hit, he teleports.
Could also be a former boxer who's taken one too many blows to the sides of his head. Thickear
YES
Cannibalistic dragon named Domer. 😏
Or a dragon with amazing fashion.
Wearing boots with Dafer.
🚪 🚶♂️
Would love to hear @near furnace thoughts on this! 👀
I just spent days taming a pair of wolves, got them all the way home, and one of them walked straight into the hearth and almost died. Lesson learned.
Gotta get those baby gates up before bringing home new family members!
I have a deer stuck under my dock... pokes a broomstick under the edge
anyone wanna play
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 might. 👍
can boars trespass to half wood walls?
to my knowledge... no
but jank is a gateway to many abilities some consider unnatural
hahahah i see
Hi, i play with two screens but the mouse keeps going to the other screen at my left and it is annoying because I cannot fight propperly
make sure its full screen
Anyone knows how can I keep the mouse in the valheim screen without moving to the other screen?
I already had!
have u tryed disable full screen and enable it again?
worked?
im not sure what your question is, i have 2 screens and my mouse goes to the other screen when my cursor is activated, but in combat my cursor isn't activated it's lock to my character's vision
weird
For example, my extra screen is at my left so anytime i move my character's vision to the left the mouse moves to the left screen
how?? so your character starts to look left but suddenly they stop looking left and your cursor is on the screen to the left?
exactly
that's weird, idk. im just in full screen mode
wellp, mountain died. really stupid death that i didn't even see or hear until i was dead. we go again maybe now i try fists and/or clubs finally
yooo, im new in valheim, is there a mod where u can change the amount of armor that it gives u? cause i rlly rlly like the fenris set and i dont wanna change it
man i couldn't even SEE the fact that i was being lit on fire through the firy death of the first cultist it was just a big orange ball and then too late. so stupid.
- #mods-discussion
- If you use the speed of the Fenris to avoid damage, or if you dodge roll, or if you block - your armor stat becomes irrelevant.
thats true, but since im playing on hardcore diff, and max damage everything oneshots me, likea a seeker of 0 stars comes and onetaps me
Hardcore diff doesn't make armor any more relevant in the cases mentioned.
Just makes it so blocking isn't as viable and you spend more time dodging.
Dangit, are there no sources of regular stone in Ashlands, I ran out before my platform was done, do I really have to sail back north for stone, of all things?!?
In my game I play with my wife, we found a draugr village right on the coast, for the first time ever. So for the first time ever, I get to use this type of village for my new base. All the buildings makes it the largest base I think I have ever had.
Nah, I found a few. A few drop while most is grausten
Can't switch to the local material?
Its much more durable anyways.
Grausten doesn't work for raising earth walls
Oh, yeah, I do that too. Fortunately you still do get stone, just not nearly as much of it.
I'm always assuming people don't do raised earth, because it so ugly. Ugly fits in the Ashalnds.
I see a dvergr building a ways from where I landed, there was a big fight just as I reached the shore - and my drakkar literally bumped into the entrance to a morgen den...
I'd actually be happy about that. Once you kill the Morgen inside its a "safe" space to run into. Plus you get the power cores.
I won't ever get accustomed to big, fearsome demon-undead doing a 180 and running away after getting one arrow in the face
RHAAAAHR KILL YOUUUU <thwack> MMMOOOOMMYYY!!!
so, do u have any tip so i dont get oneshoted? imbout to kill the QUEEN boss, and ive heard it hits hard
I didn't mind that so much when its the 2 stars when I first went into Ashlands.
Every time one gets away you know it will sneak back at the worst possible moment!
True, but hopefully they will be all you have to deal with by then.
Usually its not, but its usually far fewer.
Morgen came rolling and decided it wanted to sink my boat. Enter panic mode, I do NOT want to get stranded here...
I decided to use the morgen cave as foundation for my first outpost
There's just the thing about popping in to get rid of the rowdy original inhabitant
That'll show 'em!
Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and... dodge.
Or use Evasion Mantle and parry 🤷♂️
Anyone have any favorite seeds? Saw some good ones in the seed channel, just not sure if there's one people love using or if random is the way to go
I love the absolute unknown of rolling with whatever seed I get
It is kind of fun to have to map it all out yourself
There is joy in the unknown
i like onion seeds myself
I would not have nearly as many hours in this game if the seeds were not randomly generated for me. That sounds incredibly unmotivating to play on a seed that’s already explored.
Fair
Today I kill u bonemasss b*tch
Go get 'im!
He cried the whole time during our fight. He knew his demise was certain I suppose
Fighting bonemass with a kitty in my lap wanting attention, and a bronze sword(not even a mace lol), might not be the wisest choice.
It will be a bit longer fight than necessary 😄 but shouldnt be too bad hopefully
To be honest the adorable poofy baby seems to be more of the problem, keep having to pause as he tries to climb onto the desk
Let it control your movement xD
He is laying on one of my arms now lol
Does this mean I should think about making a mace lol
Yes or else a cat will manifest onto your lap mid boss fight to lay on your arms and cause havoc.
For the swamp boss at the very least it is quite a good idea 🙂
Im just using my flint axe as my weapon but Im getting a load of bronze to see what I can make
Then you still have a way to go before that boss 🙂
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202310893757530142 If anyone would like to see my house, think its finished 😄
MODER!! Im coming
I defeated bonemass! with a bronze sword yay.
It is funny when in the fight you are just hitting bonemass with a sword with vision completely lost in a big green cloud of bonemass poison and several blobs.
Mainly all you see is green smoke and damage numbers, with blob sounds in your ear.
The small bit of fear when the rested buff runs out midfight in the swamp boss fight where you are always covered in water lol.
starting to think that i wont have much future luck with coop till i start paying for a dedicated server
can't host yourself?
I can do the regular host world option when choosing worlds but people usually prefer having 24/7 access to a server rather than waiting for the owner even if said owner has no life
Have the devs mentioned reducing the building restrictions?
you mean like the structural integrity?
Like, I want to be able to build temporary camps with a workbench, bed and fireplace without having to build a whole shack.
I don't know if that is what I mean.
things turning red and breaking cuz theyre not supported, but i know what you mean now
to my knowledge nobody has mentioned what you’re talking about, it’s essentially what counts as “sheltered”, theres some videos on that mechanic and lots of ways to build really simple
you can literally just put down a campfire and bed in the mouth of a troll cave for example
Yeah. I'm not a huge fan of this system. It almost feels like it removes a sense of immersion within the game, especially considering we don't have tents or things of that nature as far as I believe.
Maybe that could be a solution in the future. Using leather for tents.
why would we do that?
changing that wouldn't make sence from our standpoint. and the game does not have any kind of Tents etc
I explained below. I think it takes away from the immersion of being able to setup a temporary camp whilst traveling. This could be by design but I think the game would benefit from it.
it is by design. and that part will not change
having to have walls and shelter to sleep and be rested removes immersion?? 🤔
I think he wants a bedroll, tent or some kind of more temporary sleeping sollution
Something like that, yes.
even tho it would make sense in a calmer game, sleeping when you know a few meter tall troll can at any given time find your sleeping viking and apply blunt force trama by slamming a 200 kilo log into your face... don't know if I would do that personally 🤔
you can literally close yourself in a 2x1 box and sleep for like 25 wood, i’m pretty immersed having to gather camp supplies or bring with and plan ahead supplies
Then it effectively makes homes feel more special too. Perhaps you get a debuff from a bedroll or tent, like a reduction of restness as appose to the rested buff you'd get a properly shelted home.
no
- it would be dumb to do as I just explained
- it would be to exploting
you could litterally just get rid of any night cycle in the game
That doesn't seem to be working.
there is even a building challenge with 25 wood and 5 stone
what does it say? need a fire? bed needs a roof?
I've put 2 gates around it, walls on all sides, and a roof. It says that is it too exposed. My workbench however has the same structure design but works.
idk why it would be exposed encased in walls and a roof.
I'll post it in #valheim-help in a minute.

Bui...
this one
I posted it in #valheim-help
I'm not sure, but my guess is that the stakewall does not count as shelter for resting, either that or the space is so small that part of your bed - even so much as a pixel - is clipping with one of the walls, that would be enough.
TIL you can actually put stuff inside the Yuleklapp.
is there a Trinket that gives u stamina when u activate it?
several. Nimble anklet is one.
It okay if I ask a little about the inventory plan? just I feel like from what I see in places like youtube vs here, there is a level of disconnect.
Or it just that it feels like inventory updates are largely disliked here? Just here it felt like those are often shut down, but other places I saw appeared to have a decent majority wanting them. I might just be confused, just am worried if what I heard is true about the devs thinking it doesn't need updating or improvements, that it is based off a inaccurate idea of the full games playerbase and just the small % in the discord.
I guess I just noticed a difference and got worried so wanted to say something here.
another? im not in that stage of the game, im on mistlands
Then you're already past it. It's a mountain tier trinket. Resounding shackle is ML tier trinket with stam gain.
Brimstone, once you get to Ashlands, is another.
Nimble is swamp on the wiki, plus the black forest also has one for +25% stam rengen
Surtling, whare are they? cause it says swamp, but ive never seen one
You're right.
Surtlings are found around the fire geysers in swamps.
they're rare, but not unheard of. You just need to explore more swamp.
I tend to find several while going between swamps looking for iron.
soo, if i skipped that content, rn the best trinket is the one named "brimstone"?
same
Yes, but brimstone is in the next biome from where you're at.
daem
Resounding shackle is where you're at.
and in the mistlands there isnt any right?
oh ok
Lol I missed that sorry
any time.
I will just mention that trinkets aren't exactly something you need to upgrade, and a lot of players find the first trinkets to be useful for their entire playthrough.
Logging on to check if the pasadiles break exposure of beds.
i know that, ive heard that the trinket wich u can craft after killing a bear its very usefull
What I mean is to upgrade based on biome progression.
i see what you mean yeah
Okay...
Imo the boats are my favourite decorations
Makes it feel like this home is active
even if you dont use the karve
Does anyone know why the wiki page for the Serpent is locked? https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Serpent
It might be because a lot of players believe they have set spawn points but they don’t
Oh yeah forgot about that myth. Thanks, I'll leave them a message with the changes I wanna make
Set spawn point = the ocean 😉
It is not forbidden to ask a question... Opinions on the inventory thing differ a lot, both in there and on youtube, reddit or wherever you look. It is easy to get the impression that the majority of the playerbase is screaming for inventory changes at the top of their lungs, but as always that is just another example of how players who are unhappy with something make noise about it, while many of those who don't care or are happy just play the game. This is as true for Valheim as with other games or indeed other things in life.
As for the issue itself, it is a horse that was beaten to a pulp long ago, it's been discussed and debated back and forth forever and a lot of the regulars in here are simply bored with the discussion. Opinions are opinions, and nobody is likely to change their perspective from anything said by anyone else, so starting up bashing that poor old horse again won't do much good - but it is not forbidden... 😉
Personally, I don't think there has ever been much of an issue but that has changed somewhat lately . Our inventory space is limited, which forces us to make decisions throughout the game on what to bring and what to pick up. This is part of the game, part of its challenge, and has been so since day one - but with additions of trinkets and other useful toys as the game has grown, these decisions have become harder and harder over time. Devs have acknowledged as much, and may or may not do something to alleviate this. We don't know - no promises have been made.
I genuinely believe the overwhelmingly vast majority of people who play this game... don't say anything 😄 They just play it.
So pretty much every "issue" across the whole game is argued over by separate, very small, minorities 😄
Yeah, that is usually the case. Whenever I get stuck on a game I want to talk about it so I gravitate to forums, reddit, discord to find like-minded. I also believe most players just play, they don't get that irresistible urge to go talk about it...
greetings
today, i will decorate the inside of my modded castle with storage and essential crafting

What Sev said
Ello. LOL Sorry I have to do it. Yes More Inventory Slots for the love of all that is Sacred to Valheim Please. !! LOL
btw, I just put the Vile Armor on for the first time and DIED from Laughter.
I am an OG players and Really .... The Armor is just not exactly Fitting the Fem. Player very well. LOL
why not just get a mod for slots
How many "more" are you talking.
Because I can agree to 6 being a good change (armor, cape, equipment slot, trinket slot).
Anything beyond that -- plz Odin never, no, nein, negative.
Did you try bear armor for female character? The result might shock you.
I do use a modded game play. However, I do play with Non Modded players as well. And if your playing and trying to do things like Magic and Melee at the same time. with food, Trinkets, Armors, Capes, the whole 9. You literally have only 2 to 6 slots to do anything with. And one Foot into the Ashlands and Bing Inventory full. 1000 Trips to dump items back at base.
Not yet. But I Now you got me wondering.
bear armor is pretty great
Try it.
Darn I am missing the chest piece
So the issue is "I don't have enough inventory to carry all things always all at once, and instead of just choosing what I should carry, I want the devs to alter the game for all players to suit my self-inflicted dilemma." ??
bru
Easy to craft: bear hide, paws and blueberries.
Not my precious berries 🙁
Lets seee.... I have killed 80 to 90 bears so got the mats
Wait is the Chest piece just a NECKLACE ??
LOL OMG
Good morning! Ashlands was released on 14 May 2024, that's 580 days ago. No trying to convey any particular message, except that I feel so starved for a new Biome and new things to explore.
ye
States message.
Then says "not trying to have a message here."
👍
why you gotta have a condescending comment
I love walking through the Ashlands, The crunch of bones under foot. My Duel Weild Axes Tearing the Charred to Pieces Mawhaa haaa haa 😄
@gray sand whenever a message is interpretable, the way you choose to understand it, is a mirror of your inner self
Bersekr were such a welcome reward for us axe mains after wading through so many biomes of sword superiority. 💛
I know Right 😄
My inner self says that devs who care about the quality of their product should not be rushed. My inner self also says the devs are doing their best to make the game great and in a timely manner.
So.. I am fine with my reflection.
Lightning axes go brrrrrr.
Was it shocking?
Not as shocking as Dundr 😏
