oh, yes. sorry
Those are a bit random, I feel like there usually is at least 1 in them and I've found 6-8 when I was lucky. (tho I think I might have found 1 or 2 BCs with none.)
i found 4, you need 5 for a smelter right? so should i go for like, 10-15 just to be safe / have spare?
Honestly as many as you can get would be good.
But I'd go for 20, two shelters and two furnaces
Smelters*
If you play with Portals on, you will need a lot more than 15.
You may need 20 for 2 Charcoal Kilns and 2 smelters, then at least 4 to craft 2 portals.
Later you will also need them for the blast furnace and the Staff of Embers.
5 would be minimum as you can dismantle smelter/kiln to swap to another for what you need. But more is comfortable, and you need cores for ||portals|| too.
The good news is, you will be able to "farm" them in the Swamp Biome. Making getting them a lot easier.
However, the benefit of the burial chambers are the gold and gems you get there, as well as the bones you will be needing later in the Ashlands.
what do the gold and gems actually do
They buy stuff :3
You need that to buy items at one of the three traders you will encounter at some point.
And a lot of gold is good
Today I was chased. I was collecting some strange items when 2 bears and 5 greyhounds appeared. I've never been so scared and afraid of dying in a game as I was today.
In short, I made the bronze pickaxe and the bronchus, and now I'm making charcoal because I got 5 of the things I need to make the furnace from the two caves I went to.
Decorations :>
i think my 90 dried bones gonna be decorating the thors trash smiter
I haven't seen anyone decorate with Wither Bones yet
Boneless ha
you can just ignore kilns and mass burn food or burn wood piles right?
it was already an hell doing two times
It's easy after getting magic
what is this? kilns?
Or learning how to parry
The furnace only works with coal and consumes a lot of coal.
You can make a Surtling farm
i bought an banquet plate with the witch early but i have really no idea how i prepare an banquet yet lol
You will be able to if you have unlocked all foods from a biome and have discovered Iron.
now that it's day 7
thats strange, i have the preparation table but i only know how to prepare fish and some baits
You could mass burn food but it would be a massive time and resource waste
You can burn wood piles but only with fire tick on. Otherwise you need a kiln
do i have to try fishing to unlock more recipes them?
Means you haven't unlocked all foods from a biome.
Or haven't bought the herbs from the Bogwitch.
Or both.
Or haven't fought Elder..?
I'm burning wood after I make 200 coal, then I break the coal furnace and make the ore furnace.
oh yeah i didnt bought the weed yet
you enlightened me now
I still need to defeat him too, but I think I'll leave it for later. I think he must be stronger than the bear.
i im at early just like you, he is easy if you have a bronze buckler
i beated him using the bronze buckler and a bronze axe
I don't know how to parry.
you will start training it right now lol
just use defend imput when a enemy trys to hit you until you mastered
Use the other mouse button as the one you attack with.
Or change to bow and fire-arrows to kill him.
Just as long as you keep moving and use the pillars to hide for his attacks you'll be fine.
You can even dug out under his altar if it's high enough to create a shelter. Once you reach the center of it, you will actually get a small rested bonus from the fire you use to make the sacrifice.
i changed my imput to defend on right mouse button and it has been really good.
I already killed the first boss, now I'm just missing the second one, but I'll wait until I make better armor and a bow.
You won't be able to get (much) iron if you don't defeat the Elder.
Unless you're willing to use a glitch.
I want to defeat the elder, but right now I'm too weak, so I won't try to face a being superior to a bear with a paper defense.
What do you consider a paper defence?
And I also want to play the game and enjoy the scenery, so I'll try not to rush through everything at once.
I'm still wearing the full deerskin outfit.
start slowly and enjoy the experience, im loving this game because its an survival who are really slow compared to every other game least for me
yo
nothing is giving more satisfaction them filling my longship with 30 stacks of iron right now
lost to him in bronze armor, got troll armor plus higher level axe and won, and 120 fire arrows
the new bear armor is an absolute must have to
So I started playing yesterday, defeated the first boss, and now I'm enjoying it. I built my house, I'm going to try to build a wall now and maybe try to hunt a bear later today.
niiiiceee
if you got lucky you can drop his head for the helmet
Do you think a birch bow is any good against a bear with plenty of fire arrows?
try it
it will be too slow, but its the right way for some one who had low armor
ruining your experience by just being guided by others here
I'll try to improve to level 2 and I'll get the arrows ready.
try not running away tho, stick close to his attacks and walk towards him
when he attacks you keep walking around his left and them shoot him
bruh i made a new world just to test something... and the seed is so much better than the one we have been playing for months lol
´´been playing for months´´
what about it?
can duplicate everything
I killed a bear and it dropped 4 pelts and 1 claw.
It was in the fiery arrow and a dream.
One more paw and you can make a weapon
im really addicted to this game, soon i will be like him.
nowdays i almost dont spend so many time in a game, only diablo 2 and 4 from time to time.
I've been here for 26 hours, half of which I've spent dying from the cold.
Lol, how are you being purged by cold? Dont go to mountain areas jeff
I was freezing cold that night, lol, I always forget to put fuel in the campfires.
It dosnt matter if starts snowing
You will 100% die
I'll only explore the snow when I have warm clothes.
Doesn't have to snow
You take damage either way
Sounds like he was using the campfire trick. Snowing puts those out.
I don't know, there's the dragon, the golem, and the wolf.
Do you know about the frost resistance mead?
Oh no
Have you built a fermenter?
Snow will be the last biome I go to.
Its the 4th one your supposed to go to. Meadows to Black forest to swamp to mountains to plains.
take out a couple wolves
I'm only on day 12, man, how am I supposed to have that?
I'm just asking since it sounds like your already going into the mountains.
IF your day 12 you not even ready to finish the Black Forest.
I had to fight a hard battle to kill a single bear; imagine a wolf that only comes in a pack.
dig a hole 😉
Depends. In the day time they are in singles and pairs. At night you can get more, as well as starred wolves.
I'm still exploring the border between the Pardo and the Black Forest; I won't delve into it further yet.
we just discovered a frost cave
However, its best if you stay out of the mountains until your done with swamps.
brb
Wow, that swamp must be tough.
Its usually the first really deadly experience for new players.
Initially yes. It'll be a breeze once you get used to it 😄
Well, you always have to be careful. Be alert.
Especially at night
Best to stay out of there at night. Not that I listen to my own advice.
Is there anything worse than a bear coming out at night?
In the Black Forest? No. But more dwarves come out, and more of them are starred.
I'm managing to deal with the blue and red dwarves of 1 to 2 stars, and I ran when I saw one with a stone in place of a hand.
Sounds like the brutes. Yeah, the 2 star is tough.
The blue ones are very annoying, and so are the Shamans.
Should I make the copper breastplate or should I just make the axe and look for trolls?
i feel like you can kill trolls easier than u can kill bears cuz they're weak to pierce so maybe try for troll armor
I'll try to find some then, but first I'll make a good wooden bow.
hm but if you make a bronze axe you can make a BETTER wooden bow..
I made the arch out of birch wood, now I'm collecting trees to build the base walls. The ash trees have been appearing closer and closer to the base lately.
i just witnessed a drake kill a troll just now haha
Is there an anti cheat you can install onto server that prevents people from going to other world and spawning stuff in? That you don’t have to install on clients?
No, all the mods that do this need to be server side and client side #mods-discussion
Damn
Feel like that should be a built in feature no? Maybe with 1.0
I don't know, I think the best way to deal, and how I do it, is screening and reviewing people you play with / playing with people you actually know. This has several advantages over just some anti-cheat mods.
And if a bad egg slips through the crack on a server (a mistake was made), you use one of your many backups and roll back the damage, kick and ban them, and happily continue with the good folks.
Especially in a non-competitive sandbox game 🤔
Yes, but also sort of, we had some boat racing and it was insanely competitive, also people compete for finding the traders first and things like that on our servers sometimes, there is a few elements.
How many people actually take the time to tame boars? I've never done it, but by day 3 I've killed 3 1star boars
I think would be a nice config option for server side inventories. I play just with my friends but in a grindy game I could see some of them being tempted
Trust me don’t raise boars the heartbreak is immense
Just keep them safe? it can be done
I killed another bear but didn't unlock the Crafter from its armor.😔
I built a steel cage for my wolves so the next time I forget to pause while doing stuff irl they won't die hopefully
Have you collected blueberries? Should have the recipe for the set if so
Except the helmet, which requires something extra
So, the glove-making skill has been unlocked, but I still haven't found how to harvest blueberries.
I made a troll chest piece, now I'm building the house wall.
Those are in the forest.
I fled the dark forest, I died facing the bear, it sprouted from the ground, simply 10 gray, it was a totally one-sided fight, the bear was hitting and I was getting hit.
Did the developers add time dilation as a feature? I play for what felt like 10-20mins and its been 8hrs lmao
damn I hate maces
lol I don't know either, but I'm enjoying the game. It's hard for me to get hooked on a game; I think the only one that held my attention for a long time was Zomboid.
How do I replant the trees I cut down? Because I cleared an area and I don't know if they respawn.
You need the cultivator and keep the seeds, dont think they grow back on their own
I don't know how to make this grower.
I think this should show how to get it
https://game8.co/games/Valheim/archives/320594
I'll try to make it tomorrow then, and I'll take the opportunity to look for the blue fruits.
yoo i play zomboid too, great game.
Oh, I have about 1,200 hours there, but I stopped playing. I did a lot of things that B41 allowed.
You need to progress quite a bit in blackforest to make it
Good luck with the game and have a good rest, I'm going to sleep now.

I did at one point, but honestly the boars just keep respawning in same areas so I just go hunt them instead now
I don't need to do it with just my wife and I, but with 3 or more people it becomes more and more worth doing.
I wouldn't bother with non starred boars, and of course 2 stars are most worth the effort.
Yeah but I’m assuming it’s their first playthrough I failed to protect my boars
I learned that you have flying raids
So I built a barn real quick 😂
Drakes, bats, all very deadly for my piggies 🙈
I played blind and I had impenetrable walls until they started flying and drakes were too low damage to do anything
Then the bugs came
Is the game heavily CPU limited if there are to many items in one area?
I replaced my 3070Ti with a 5070Ti and still get micro stutters if I set view distance to max at my main base
this is with a 7800X3D
didn't look at per CPU core utilisation yet, but total it seem pegged at 25%
Dont quote me, but im pretty sure thats a yes.
hope they find a way to optimise and use modern CPUs better then
tried reducing the two light options, but they didn't seem to make to much of a difference
yes its very CPU limited
it can also be GPU limited if you crank up your lighting sources though
extremely unlikely that big optimizations come through
Valheim kills my cpu when im on the coast sometimes
Tech guys can explain it better, but I believe the CPU thing is Unity engine-dependent and something the devs themselves can't do much about. They do optimise all the time however, so things do improve.
Is it okay if I ask a curiousity question for the devs that I have been nervous to ask due to feeling like it can seem mean or rude potentially?
I don't mean this in a rude way or anything just I guess with all the sales I wonder a little on why the dev team didn't seem to be expanded much, though it is quite possible it has been and I just didn't realize as I am new to the discord just recall being told about how small the dev team is. I can guess several reasons both ways but that is more of just a permanent expansion has risks but like short term assistance seems potentially nice.
There are few reasons:
- Devs want to have smaller team so there are not too many factors interrupting the production.
- Adding more people now on ongoing project would result in reduced production speed due to the training any new people would need and it would take the time from senior developers to properly train them.
Thanks still am unsure, is there a place I can see what the team is composed of? or I guess what is the team composed of currently? Just am wondering about the programmer side of things, and have bad experience with other games that refuse to get enough for that.
I think the entire team is like 7 people...
As the work culture in Nordic countries differs from many others they want also take their time to produce quality content.
15ish. It used to be 5 people when Valheim was released on EA.
The same is true for any software project. Introducing new people will take time from production for training, then it's the whole process of making sure you hire people that share your vision and have the right abilities. Some roles are easier than others to "contract out". Also I am totally on board with them taking their time to do things right rather than getting two hundred consultants in on the project and releasing a broken disjointed mess.
I know that is good, I just am worried they could produce a higher quality product within less time potentially. I guess am wondering if the pros could outweigh the cons and initial time investment
As we see on so many godawful AAA releases these days, more resources does not necessarily equal better final product.
Also oh I didn't mean anything close to like 200 people, I meant just like 1 or 2.
Sometimes I wonder what on earth those companies are doing with all those people. Like are a lot just standing around? working for 5 minutes then another person takes over?
Just pulling a number out of my arse for effect 😉
I appreciate the honesty lol(am just joking around)
There is this thing with AAA studios of shareholders expecting quick scores, which results in sloppy releases with money first mentality.
Indie studios usually have no such expectations.
I personally might feel like putting effort into high quality and cared for products might be a good way to get some money lol.
Sadly not all people think like that.
10% of the people do 90% of the work kek
Personally I'm quite glad I've strayed further from AAA products and focused more on indie games, there have been many great releases lately.
I don't know if I ever really was that into AAA games, I think most are pretty indie.
I guess though I was wondering about valheim getting a second programmer less focused on adding new stuff to complete the game, but more of flushing out everything else and optimizing.
Well if they don't already have a second, which was why I wanted to ask about the team
A qualityication programmer lol
I hope everything is okay, I just was wondering about that as it might be nice to split between the new and old, though I guess after the deep north there won't need to be a split, though might be good for future games to have that programmer trained. I don't know. Hope I am not bothering.
Any spear enjoyers
I have tried to get into them but they always feel extremely weak.
They were my main weapon in meadows and bf, swamp they just had no use
they have annoyingly short range
Yeah the range is deceptive but they attack fast
Every time I try to get into a weapon aside from swords, I almost always eventually steer back to swords.
Spears are very useful, especially at the early game.
Does killing raid creatures reduce the time left in the raid? or do you pretty much just want to wait it out then kill them all unless they give useful resources?
Killing mobs won't affect to the duration of the raids.
Thanks I feel like though there should be some other encouragement to kill raid spawns instead of running in circles till it is over.
Atgeir's aoe sweep isn't useful in the swamps?
hey guys I need help, how can you build in water without it eroding? Stone doesnt seem to be water resistant
I read the damage cant go below 50%
thats cap
the first time I played valheim we built with stone foundation in the water
and the whole floor collapsed except the 10% that was on the beach
Weird how did you even manage to build underwater i tried and couldn't hit the floor
Stone does not take water damage
If your stone structures in water fall apart, it is because they don't touch bottom and simply collapse because of lack of support
Wood does take water damage, but only down to 50%
So nothing will ever collapse from weather damage alone. Necks and greydorfs chewing on the foundations however...
However, mobs will not attack simple building things like walls or posts if they can't see actual base items like workbenches etcetera
Or if they are coming for you and there's a wall between you and them
If you want to build in water, use alternate snapping so you get a post/pillar down far enough to touch bottom and then work from there (4-meter log pole is good for this, they make ideal jetty supports...)
You cycle alternate snapping points by tapping E while placing a build piece. No idea what E translates to for console though
Also, when starting a build always make sure the foundation is "grounded", meaning it touches ground somewhere. You will know this when hovering the cursor over the piece with the hammer - it highlights as blue. If it is not grounded it will be either green (=well supported), orange or red. Red of course means it is poorly supported and can't be added to any further.
it wasnt very high it was like 2 stone pillars
the building was up for days
In that case you probably had a troll visit or something like that. There is no "erosion" or other weather damage on stone over time
nope, there was no raid, I was solo on the server at the moment, and it collapsed only on the water side, check #screenshots
it was so weird
It could have been load lag. Happens sometimes if you have a load hickup (due to autosave) at the very moment you come into render range of the build. What happens is the foundation piece loads in after one or more objects depending on it for support, making parts of the build collapse. Happened to me with my entire second floor on my current build. After that I save manually before approaching my base after being away...
thats crazy lol
I hope they fix performance and issues like that before release
but still its weird it only happened on the side that was in the water
It is very rare, and probably it only affected one very crical stone for that part of the build
So, bad luck more than anything
Still, they can probably eliminate the risk by delaying stability calculations in a player "bubble" for a while after loading player built structures
I have yet to see any official word on the issue though, what I say is what I've been told by cleverer players than I am...
Good morning guys
im no expert but arent there a lot of problems related to performance that would be fixed if they would just make the game files bigger
theres games I play that are 130 GB that have flawless performance and 2x the fps than valheim, while having much much higher graphics
I guess it comes down to the fact that its procedural generation
I doubt that has anything to do with it at all, but I am not an expert either. Bigger games tend to use absurd amounts of data for textures, and Valheim simply doesn't need that because of its style
exactly
I don't understand the hype about wanting to increase the size of the game; the game is simply perfect as it is now.
is there a hype for it?
I mean, if it would increase performance I would have no problem with it
I just dont know if it does
Bigger files only fill up your harddrive, no performance gain to get from having higher resolution textures. Valheim is visually stunning as is, I honestly think it would lose much of its magic with a more high resolution style
not talking about higher resolution textures etc
I just mean having less calculations in the moment
To be clear, bigger files does absolutely nothing, and game size has no effect on performance. You're comparing different game types entirely.
yeah I guess it is because there is procedural generation
And probably many people with potato PCs or laptops wouldn't be able to play.
That, and the studio doesn't have 60 people working on optimizations, not to mention the engine is typically being stressed by constant physics interactions/structural calculations.
The problem is that increasing the file size will mean some PCs or laptops won't be able to handle it, and they'll lose customers.
Not everyone has a super powerful computer to run the game on ultra settings.
File size doesn't inherently effect performance...
what is the best and big dmg black metal weaopon?
I know people who are managing to run the game at 1280p with 30 fps and it's stuttering.
1280p? I'm really not sure what you're trying to point out here.
File size has little to do with performance, some games will intentionally bloat file size to take up disc space/appear bigger.
All the black metal weapon are solid, use what you feel the most comfortable with.
Oh, I must have been mistaken then.
Is the battle axe the biggest dmg not factoring resists
There is no method in the endgame for teleporting ores?
There is 👍
Please dont say its a ship
You said teleporting 😛
Thats a relief them
imo nothing is better against a goblin village, but it’s all playstyle preference and ability.
Might be if looking purely at the damage numbers.
They're tad slower than 1h swords/maces, also slower than 1h axes, but battleaxes have great stagger abilities, as primary attacks have 1,5x stagger multiplier and no mtp, then secondary attack is quick, half damage, high knockback and 4x stagger (effectively 2x stagger of weapon damage).
I've been using the two handed Iron axe to farm some abominations in the swamp and damnn its so good
The downside of the battle axe?
His first hit animation sucks
Lol
Jump towards the enemy so you can start the attack earlier without slowing yourself
I'm using a bronze shield and a bronze axe.
Upside?
Secondary is god tier 😂
I only wish his entire moveset where used to cut trees
You can cut trees with both attacks
Secondary attacks always deal the same damage types as the primary, just with a multiplier applied
Is just that the first animation is really bad for cutting and if i try without enemies close he just keeps repeating the first animation, so the best way of using him to blast some trees is by draging some enemies atention lol
The secondary is the best way 😛
I will try later.
Also, can we chain the special attacks with normal attacks?
Doing some "combos"
It is recommended to start fights with the Battleaxe by using the secondary into the first primary swing, this way you're almost certainly staggering your enemy on either the first or second hit.
It's even mentioned on the battleaxe's wiki pages.
If I manage to kill two bears, I can get his set.
I already made the bear loincloth.
poor them, not my experience with valheim
FPS hunters are the worse.
i rarely engage with secondary unless they’re starred. never did the stamina math if it’s more or less stamina to secondary>jump>swing or just swing>swing
I didnt even know it has wiki dedicated to weapons.
Good job dude, skall
My laptop is weak but it runs at 30 fps without lagging.
Now I just need to hunt more bears and look for caves.
I need more things to use bear skin and meat for. I try to avoid bears just because I don’t want anymore drops
Im running 60 fps quite smoothly, but it aways starts lagging in swamps intersections for some reason, i will try 30 fps for more stabillity.
I mean the skin is nice for plains
Yeah, his Meat is preety good for early game but after you have his armor weapons and amulets is completely over.
Ive seen people shit on fist weapons but I tried them and they are pretty good
u dont need much stamina for it
In what way? All I see is making rugs
They are very good. They just fall off after the Plains.
||vile bear armor set/weapons||
The bear fists are cool but idk if it can be upgraded further after t4 on workbench
no gear goes beyond tier 4
idea is you just make stronger versions of the weapons in the next biomes
Ah. Well I have four stacks of hide I should be good 😊
Thats sad, i liked a lot the bear chest and leather pants, i was hoping we could upgrade them to match the quality in the late game.
You can make similar weapons and armor later in the game. At least function wise
May look a bit different
World flavor.
Build a base around one, make it a swimming pool
Swimming pool IN THE SWAMP? Loooooooooolll
That’s how you get a disease named after you!
The first time i saw i thought it was a dungeon, maybe devs are looking for giving as an underwater dungeon someday?...
Nope, not really feasible with how water works.
What’s the best upgrade out of the plains to use for Mistlands? Playing hardcore
As in weapons?
Yeah
Then i would honestly take frostner, the frost dmg outperforms pretty much any weapon from plains against seekers
Even frostner?
Yeah, since seekers have resistance to all physical dmg types
I’ll add it to our list. Finishing out full frostner upgrades before Yagluth and grinding frost arrows
Just tryna prep for Mistlands, gonna be awful in hardcore 😂
I killed another bear, it dropped both claws, I'm only missing one bear hide lol
Swamp builds are fun. A swimming pool/bath house sounds hilarious to me. I should look for a sunken tower and do that
I was today years old when I realized Valhiem had its own discord 😅
But now you know!
Indeed! The wife ans I have been playing pretty much since launch.
I'm excited to be here
I completed the bear set.
Personal spa in the basement, it's luxury!
Hello! Just joined! Seriously, just found out as well @warm flint lol
Find the old man's location. How many arrows do you think I need to kill him?
The birch bow is at level 4.
Oof been a couple years since I’ve used a bow.
I’d say have 200 fire arrows on you at least, shouldnt run out
Pretty sure it took less than 100 fire arrows, but its been years since I last used bows to take him down. Melee is much faster and easier.
hey guys
genuine question...
is the iron veins rare in the swamps?
saw a guy in a video mining it
but i only found in crypts yet
Yeah, the mud piles are kind of rare.
Easiest to find them once you have the bonemass drop.
i got the bone
so im only founding because its under the earth?
You will mine in the crypts 99% of the time. A few monsters will drop iron ore and there are also additional spots as you found that will have iron ore
Yeah, I think the mud piles have at most 9 pieces of iron. Pretty sure I have never recovered double digits worth of iron.
Yeah, I only look for mud pits to get iron before I go into crypts. Mostly so I can have a stone cutter.
Having a long boat earlier is nice too.
yeah I hate that, best place to find an elite but you cant attack it
anyone know what's the max forge level needed for most vanilla/modded stuff? 4-5?
just wondering if i can avoid placing some upgrades
woof. just parried an archer and didnt know it was a 2 star, lost 2/3 my hp lol. thank you health pot.
I think its lvl 4 to make it. lvl 7 to fully upgrade it, on the first forge.
oh right
Pretty sure you need lvl 4 at most, for repairs.
i found another copper deposit and cleared a nearby spawner and finally got the copper i needed
Max possible forge level is 7, and for repairs you need at least the level you used the first time to make any particular piece of equipment 🙂
Hello guys
Just dropped an elite draugr head and stray up did the hammer
Is it worth it to invest on it?
I didnt found the elk antlers hammer a great thing
if you didn’t like the staghammer it’s the exact same thing just does a little more damage, so probably not.
Thats sad, lost ressources?
I like it,, its AoE goes through walls, etc... so its good in tombs, crypts, caves, etc... Plus it becomes really useful when dealing with large mobs. It knocks all of them back and gives you breathing room.
You repeat it enough it kills all of them at about the same time as well.
Of course, in the Mistlands, there is one group it kills all of with one strike.
i will invest it
Hmm, found a 2-star boar on day 2
Do I kill it?
On day 2? I would keep it if you find a good base spot nearby.
Whenever I find them close to my start, I keep them, even when I never breed them. Just in case I change my mind.
Tame them they love you
Heck, I did that with a 1 star in my current play through.
I have no-stars in my village but they’re for The Aesthetic™
I actually took over a 4 building village this play through, for the first time in a long time. Not where I found the 1 star, though. It was close by.
Apparently the boar stones respawn a boar every day. Which is within line of sight from this village.
They do not, those are just normal random spawns, probably just happens that area around it has good conditions for normal spawns 🙂
I've watched like 4 100 day valheim videos where they claim runestone boar respawn idk why its so common to think that
Good. I would hate to find this out only after 5,100 hours of playing this game.
Yeah, the boar runestones are just one time spawns, same as the ruined villages, and both of those instances of one time spawns can have starred ones even when they are in the "no star radius" for boars 😄
Villages regularly respawn boars. They are just never starred after the first time. Not sure how often they respawn, but its often enough I run back through them whenever convenient.
Same case as the stones 😄 after the first time they are just normal random meadows spawns.
Yeah, I never realized the stones could be such reliable respawns. I will have to keep them in mind going forward.
For sure, if you notice an area giving somewhat reliable spawns it is 100% worth coming back there from time to time
Yep. Villages often are. Some times even for deer. Plus they almost always have some razberries.
Which is why I "settled" my current village. It has 10 bushes.
I'll move my base once they stop being useful. So soon.
sa
I usually just stay at one base and expand it if needed, even if the resources around ti stop being useful 🤔
This one isn't even near water. So it will be more convenient to move to a location at least close to the water.
hehe i’ve definitely lived in renovated berry villages a few times
One was right on the line of a black forest that had a tower and blueberry bushes around it. That was the greatest seed ever. I didn’t delete it because it has my favorite base I ever built too
Ah, yeah, i pick a base spot near the water in almost every playthrough.
Good thing is, it was very close to 4 copper nodes, but those are cleaned out now as well.
Made it easy to kill trolls too. There were several spawn spots that were within line of site to the village.
my old berry village had a bear spawn on two sides, one of which was right by a crypt that spawned skeletons, so every now and then id just hear them fighting outside and go ooo the bear respawned and go farm it. best base spot ever.
Curious
has anyone encountered the battle arena like POI in the meadows
where skeletons spawn
I havent yet no
Yes, they're new POIs added in latest update.
They also contain a chest somewhere under the floor pieces.
Yep 🙂 There's one near the draugr village I transformed into a base
Yup, though it took me quite a while before I found one. Turned it into a training area, eventually.
hey im plying on my world and it feels like my hardcore settings are not turned on why?
mobs dont do horrific damage , not much star mobs and like no troll spawn at all + i do like way too much dmg
Huh quite a rare POI
IIRC max 5 of them per world.
In unexplored areas if it's an old world. Which means the chance to find one is actually reduced.
Alot rarer than I thought
My first base on current run had like 15, was real good.
Near spawn is only good if it has ocean and if the black forest is not extremely far away I think, or if it looks stunningly beautiful in another way, or a close & good mountain. (I have strict requirements for bases haha)
Its my first run besides my 20 minute conga line of not knowing how to play 3 years ago lol
ah that changes things, but you can make your own adventure and you should.
Yeah its hindsight
I sometimes live out of an abandoned hut I renovate a bit for the first 2 biomes until I build my first proper base when I have killed the first 2 bosses
Some people like to build a massive wooden structure that might be big enough for the next 5-6 biomes in the meadows, before even looking at the first boss altar haha
extremes on both sides
Hardcore (a death penalty setting) should make you lose all items and skills on death. Nothing else
Sounds like you’re talking about difficulty. Crank that up to Very Hard and you should be in for a tough time
no no i mean custm setting preset hardcore
i doublechecked many times and its set to both
played it week ago and i was doing less dmg and mobs were dealing way more
Any mods? And is it a single player world or is it a dedicated server?
single player no mods
like my +3 flint spear was 3-4 hitting greydwarfs
and now i 2hit them with +1
they get stun after 1st hit which should not happen for sure
troll log attack didnt do 100+ dmg like it used to do
Dunno then. Maybe try and set it to default settings, load up the world, then put it back to hardcore settings and launch again?
and when i throw spear it does 100+ dmg most of time when i remember rarely getting 70 or more dmg
tried it aswell
might jsut start new world ig
or is it possible game is harder in multiplayer? i mean non boss mobs
yes it gets scaled up in multiplayer from 2-5 players
I hope the final foresaken drops a backpack that does nothing
adding a 6th player does not make it harder, because its capped there, but 2-5 it does scale up if they are near you
can i see somewhere scaling on wiki or sth?
yes lemme try find it
all i coulod find about scaling is just starring mobs up
nvm found it
Creature damage is further increased by 4% and effective health is further increased by 30% for each additional player within 100 meters. These are also applied to tamed creatures. This scaling caps at 5 players.
Internally the effective health increase from additional players is implemented as a damage reduction so that it can be scaled dynamically. The reduction doesn't apply to shown damage number so it's not visible to the players. For practical purposes, it can be considered as a health increase.
we had more than 5 players on our landing in the 7th biome which made it a bit easier because its capped at 5 haha
how is modded valheim nowadays btw
worth playing? cuz i tried few years ago when there was no mistlands and gameplay was clunky and very uninterseting
Probably best to ask in the #mods-discussion
I prefer unmodded, not using things that change the game
there is also plenty of new content from biomes and content patches
Yall should gift valheim
gift you a job
Then move somewhere that has good internet!
Plains has good internet. 😏
How much does player and mob damage range?
As in if a mob does 100 damage average, what’s the lowest and highest damage that mob can do per hit?
Players are the only ones with random damage afaik.
Hmm, I feel pretty confident I've taken varying amounts of damage from the same mobs
Also just got hit for 126 from a troll that should only be able to do 100
Yea just let a neck bite me. 6.3, 6.2, 6.7 damage
If enemies do variable damage, the wiki and the entire blocking sheet are wrong and need to be completely re-written.
I saw someone else post earlier today that they do have variable damage, and a wide range of it. The percentage they stated was in the 80's. Think it was the guy with blob in his name, and he was talking about wolves damage dealt.
Yeah I saw blob mention it too
I’ve always known it was variable but I thought it was like 10%. Getting hit by something 26% stronger than anticipated felt rough
Maybe we have a crit hit spot that the troll managed to exploit 😂
@nocturne wolf do I need to re-write the entire blocking sheet because all the information it is based on is wrong?
I always stay clear of mobs that I just barely have the health to parry on that sheet exactly because of the damage variance
I like a bit of a buffer
In other news, just killed my first bear ever (with the help of a 2 star skelly) and it dropped a head :D
But yeah I also found it odd the wiki damage page only mentioned player variability in damage, not enemies
Players cannot take critical damage.
Wait, wood torches can set fire to stuff with firetick on?
It’s the same variance as skill level 100
IIRC yes.
(Down to 86.602540378% of max damage)
But we should shorten that to 86.6
But it doesn't go higher than 100%?
No, it doesn’t on player attacks either
I don’t know if it can even reach exactly 100%
Sometimes random functions can’t idk why
I don't get how I'm taking 120 damage from a troll slam on vhard with 6 armor then
Unless wiki is wrong about ground slam being 50 damage. Does seem kinda low for such a big attack
It has a melee hitbox and aoe instance, I think the 50 damage is the aoe and you’re being hit by both
huh interesting
Technically only if the player is weak against the damage type tho (125% from slight weakness or 150% from weakness).
Yeah interestingly both count and grant adrenaline when you parry the slam.
or 200% from Very Weak (yeaaaa... feather cape against the wrong enemy without wine is fun)
Forgot the cape has very weak modifier... Should get some coffee soon.
Hi everyone, I'm a newbie. Can someone tell me what I should do in the early stages?
Listen to the bird.
Gather materials, craft equipment, set up small base, get foods, encounter boss when well equipped.
So @gray sand sounds like block/parry sheet is still good for determining the hp you need to be guaranteed to parry. Just possible that you may also be able to parry with slightly lower stats
Could you make the damages show a different colour for when a player has a chance of blocking successfully?
Ohhh, what are some common mistakes beginners make?
Some mistakes can be kind of "Rite of passage" like dying to a falling tree.

One biggest would be going to harder biome during night and generally having no rested buff when base has been set up.
Ohhh, I'll remember.
Do you use paid resource packs/appearance mods? How good are they?
For the first time playing I recommend experiencing the game itself as it is without adding mods.
The first time will always be unique time. There are many folks who wish they had possibility to get that experience again.
But I'm not forcing anything, just recommending, regarding mods you can ask folks in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 👍
Although paid mods are against EULA.

Unforgivable mistake really is not having rested buff 24/7

Lobs holy hand grenade
💣
you crazy
Took me until day 16 for that to happen only because I wanted to try my new sturdy axe hahahaha
you mean you "lobth" a hole handgranade of antioc?
“-eth” as a verb conjugation only comes into play with the 3rd person singular. So he, she, or it lobbeth. 2nd person singular informal (thou) uses the suffix “-est”
So thou lobbest but he lobbeth.
is never getting rid of her gibber at this rate 🤣

Is there a place to discuss mods? Just trying to find ones that make life easier for our group play without changing the game.
thx didnt have that thread added.
@silk token random thought because I just checked your latest clip in clip chat, but do you use Elder power for the health regen buff?
Want to play Valheim again so bad 👀
I started a dedicated server the other day, it's from my personal end game world, looking for some builders who can make some top tier builds before I make the server public, I'm going for a RPG vibe with jobs and a full blast community, if your interested DM me [if I'm in the wrong chat for this plz lmk I'm pretty new to the official valhaim discord]
Soon!
Try asking in #1024264966712340510. That's what that channel is for.
🐶: "And that's, 🐕 junior, how we spin to win."
Proceeds to spin to win with atgeir.
Thank you, I was a little confused by the lfg
Looking for more players to full valheim playtrough
We are currently ready for swamp, we have 3 active players. servere is hosted so it's not always open but usually it's open from 14.00 UTC +2 to 20.00.
I'm learning to trigger trinkets more easily. Use high stamina weapons like sledges, battle axes and atgeirs.
Ups the activation considerably.
I didn't think they would, but its enough of a difference that they do get activated before I am done fighting much more often.
hehe i have a few times when im poisoned and not sure if im gonna make it, but not mid-combat like that. idk if its worth it in a crazy fight like that to stand still for a few hitpoints
I don’t think I even thought about it, my brain just fixated on the two star archer and timing when his shots are gonna be, lol then also kiting the elite’s attacks out, then “dont look at the abom spawning dont look at the abom spawning” i knew it was coming but i had to just commit to the 2 star dying. i think 2
star archer and abom would be too many perfect storms.
Battleaxe really is amazing for adrenaline. getting five for every single thing you hit because you’re smashing those stagger meters.
Yeah, I use the sledge more often, because I like the knockback pushing the masses back. but I do enjoy using the battle axes when I am fighting 3 to 5 fulings, etc...
Yea I’m just wondering why you run around with it
Eikthyr seems like such a better choice to me
Eikthyr is the power I use pretty much 100% of the time, even in boss fights. Its rare for me to change it out with something else.
imean it is you’re right. I have it because I put it on to mine and chop and build my permanent big base, and the stones are so far away it’s not worth me sailing there to switch back and forth. hashtag no map no portal problems
and I’ve decided this is the playthrough of slowly and menacingly walking at things with my battleaxe drawn in heavy armor.
Except when a two star archer appears, then I’ll dodge roll because he cheats
yeah, it’s probably the best combat power. I’ll switched back to it at my next no portal convenience.
or before I go to mountains, which I think is very soon just for those stupid cliffs
I do like to be able to move and not have it eat up my stamina, so I have it for attacks.
i’m really enjoying testing how much I can literally walk not run in combat and just be recovering stamina all the time. I might just not use it on purpose. 😂 this character‘s name is “Mountain“
Since I use tower shields all the time, all I need to do is stand there in blocking position to regain stamina, while they beat on my shield.
Even with a boss.
Same, though I’m considering trying bonemass to not get oneshot or yag to be able to stagger better
Usually I skip killing bonemass alltogether tho
ooo I’ve been wanting to try bonemass with tower, shield and iron brooch. I wonder how hard you can abuse it, just stand there and block and get healed from the adrenaline gain.
Also question: does parrying interrupt stamina regen?
NOT ANYMORE!
hashtag parrying is broken AF
Parrying is once again broken AF...
I expected as much
Makes me wonder if I should try tasty mead. Never rly used it
that’s really all I ask is they make it interrupt stamina region. You can just parry and regain stamina for free its such a gigantic diversion from previous gameplay
I just stand there and melee Bonemass with the iron mace. I'll use a stamina mead just so I can kill him faster. Between my iron tower shield and the poison resist mead, I beat him in about two minutes just standing there and beating on him. Plus I'll nail the blobs when I can.
Oh I don’t have a problem fighting him
It’s being bothered by wolf and bat and blob raids and whatever else that blob of sadness imposes for the rest of the game on max raid rate
I fought him last night on a hard with a poison resistance mead, I just stood in the poison, all the adds did nothing but help me heal with iron brooch. The fight is so stupid easy.
Then why skip him? The wishbone makes finding silver go much faster.
Yeah. I mean at first I found him to be a hard fight, but now that I have learned what I have learned, all the bosses are pretty easy now a days.
Except the Queen, I still find her to be a pain. Fader would be easy if not for his one ground attack.
same. I think when I first bfought him, I didn’t have poison mead because I just learned his attack moves and knew when to run out of the poison cloud.
I just have a strong memory of waiting for him to look like he’s gonna puke and then sprinting, no reason to do that if you have poison mead
I may have fought him without the poison resist my first time too. Its been about 4 years, so I don't remember. I may have had it on me due to worrying about blobs showing up.
In my tower shield run I still found that I could just eat healthy food and block every attack of hers with a shield. Is it just hard when she summons all the little minions?
Yeah, the minions still make it feel risky to me. If she were alone she would be easy too.
Comparatively. I mean, nothing is easy if you don't know what is going on in each fight. But once you know what to do, they become much easier to beat.
Because I don’t want annoying raids
The wolves? I want that raid, best way to get plenty of wolf meat without having to spend time breeding them.
oh haha, if you dont kill bonemass do you never get hunted??
i like that raid, its like being at a batting cage
One time it happened as I was about to take a goblin village, that was one of the more fun and crazy fights I’ve had
Well, with tower shields, they aren't really even a threat. I just make sure they can only come at me from one general direction.
More so blobs ghosts skeletons surtling and bats
I don’t want skellies showing up at my base every 5 minutes when I’m in mistlands gear. I want like seekers or charred or something to assault me
I think Bonemass only unlocks the wolf hunt. Bats is from just going into the caves.
the bats and blobs raid can bite me… i like getting chains and cores delivered to me though
Yeah, me too.
Bat and surtling is killing bonemass AND a surtling/ bat
I want fenris stuff so I’m gonna kill bats, but if I skip bonemass it won’t trigger raids
hmm maybe i just never go in caves if thats true lol, im not using fenring set this run
The bat raid is just annoying.
Defeating Bonemass and bat dying will trigger the cauldron event.
Which doesn't happen unless you go into caves and kill bats. Only reason I go in them is to get Jute and see if I can ever find a tetris pond..
Batter up!
the wiki just lists bosses killed, could be more accurate
is there a special rule for wolves
Bonemass unlocks most number of raids of all bosses: Moder army raid (drakes), skeleton surprise, hunted (wolves), blob raid (smell from swamp), surtling raid (after surtling dying), cauldron (after bat dying)
wolves is the only one I think that can get me, if I’m being careless and not rested and without good food
Wolves require only being in mountain or plains area.
And killing bonemass
Yep, listed above.
oh shoot. well, I haven’t been to mountains, but I definitely chopped some birch trees in plains…
Yea but I’m playing without resistance meads and I kinda want fenris set for fire resist and speed against yag and maybe fader
It can’t trigger outside of those biomes
Yeah, I've been hunted my first time going into mountains after Bonemass.
Hunted raid also doesn't require any base items nearby.
Fire resistance doesn't help versus Faders ground attack. Neither does the Flametal heavy armor heat resist. You just have to avoid that attack.
oh what?? I never noticed that it’s only in those biomes. I knew it was anytime anywhere, but not any biome
Fire resistance does reduce it
That doesn’t mean you can survive though
You can still get attacked in other biomes, if your close enough to the mountain or plains biome.
Yeah, it didn't keep it from killing me.
The ground fire from fissures deal very high fire damage even when you have the barley wine on.
Again, yep, it doesn't keep it from killing me. That damage is ridiculous.
Yeah I’m more thinking the speed will be nice.
Think I’m gonna go glass cannon speed demon on that fight. One hit and I’m out, but just gonna make sure not to get hit
120 damage per tick on each aoe, it’s not too bad if you take 1-2 hits with resistance and armor but you don’t want to sit inside any longer than that
Just staying out, or getting out of it immediately, is the best strategy. So movement definitely helps.
Does the wet effect help much against fader or does the reduced fire duration not matter much if you’re sitting in an AoE of it?
You have to move so it doesn’t get between you and fader or you’ll be losing dps
Fader is often in it, so you can't always avoid losing dps.
hehe, i figured, i didn’t fafo, im a gamer of old, we don’t stand in the fire
i fight him in heavy armor and dont get burnt, probably had rafatosk though
Still, Fader would be a push over without that fissure attack. Its over powered, as far as I am concerned, but it does make him be a challenge.
It’s never felt overpowered to me but learning to fight against it properly took a few attempts
I like a fight that has a “you lose if you do this wrong” mechanic, early boss fights are too easy
Moder is the first boss imo that starts to have real damage behind her attacks
Though theyre pretty easy to dodge
Moder needs strong wind that pushes players off mountains
More like just become proficient at staying out of it, or getting out of it ASAP.
her flying breath attack surprised me hard when it hit me with frost mead on, still did a ton of dmg
Once I figure out his animation for doing that attack, he will definitely become close to just being easy to beat. I had no problems just meleeing him. Aside from that attack making me have to break off from him.
Yeah on vhard I need to run wolf skewer serpent meat serpent stew root chest and wolf helmet/legs just to be sure it doesn’t end my run if I get hit by it
Not that I do get hit by it, but I like to be prepared
I still find trying to not die at all to be challenging enough. Like last time I didn't die until on my way to Faders location, then twice while fighting him. Plus I often die from just doing something stupid.
I think I’m gonna downgrade to hard for Ashlands/deep north
Ashlands is enough on it’s own and DN I’ll be going in to blind
I like the permadeath because it makes me actually have to strategize and prepare
I don't do parmadeath. I am not going to throw all those hours away just because I finally died.
So I just consider the rest of it practice for the next time I try a Zero Death run.
I usually keep the world/character for the memories
But then I go start a fresh run
i like permadeath because it makes me feel something inside
Do you need to talk to someone Yacko?
i mean i am serious but im not serious too
im all about playing not winning, i like the thrills
I’m all about pushing myself to the limit and proving that I really am as good as I think
And I usually fail proving that because I’m not that good, but that won’t stop me from keeping on trying
guys is the Call to Arms update out yet?
yeah dude get on that!
ty
but for real any game with hardcore, im doing it. project zomboid, minecraft, WoW, gimme that permadeath
Hollow Knight: Silksong
ive always wanted to try hollow knight, its on the list
technically it's called "steel soul"
you're gonna love it i'm telling ya
at least when you're not dying 😭
im not HUGE on platformers is the thing
even in big tripple a 3d games im like yeah yeah im climbing up this thing..... unless it's super immersiony im like skip jumping and climbing
uhhh maybe with the exception of mario 64 lol i never felt it in that game
lol, i just jumped off my boat, landed on a serpent's head, and tried to stab it, failed, fell off, swam up to it and punched it to kill it.
yacko puncher of snakes?
any mod in r2modman where i can unlimited build black marble or stone wall
You can ask from folks in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 👍
Yes. Make that your title right now
Who up punching their snake?
i am disappointed in CTA update that my vertical hitbox was not good enough to stab the snake whil eriding it.
serious game flaw
Also can we all just acknowledge how terrible stone axe is? Couldn’t even oneshot backstab a deer with it
Had to kill my next deer with my bare hands to protest the use of the stone axe
on very hard? yeah its depressing when you just CANT kill a 2 star deer iwth a spear throw ambush like what??
Its very hard, so even the animals are more bad, um, tougher than you are.
Stone axe works fine on standard.
Can't even kill a 1 star with a spear throw sometimes 😔
Try secondary attack which has 1,5x damage multiplier.
axe tips from an axe man
I love beans.
hey anyone could gift a strong weapon so i can farm some mob? im in biome 3
Built this outpost on the southernmost tip of land I could find, to use as a base for my Ashlands expedition. It just so happened to be a sea-level mountain, surrounded by Black Forest and a bit of Mistlands. It actually transitions to BF as you climb the hill, kinda odd... Now the drakkar is loaded, I'm ready to go. Just got to wait out the blizzard so I can even se the goddamn water... #screenshots message
LF some help with weapon gift please
Feels very awkward to me to get the sneak attack on deer using the secondary
Even with the primary I need to make sure I'm not too close
Also feels to me like it swings too slowly (on a primary attack) to get a double sneak attack if there's two targets. Feels like the second one gets alerted before the swing makes it to them
Why not just craft one mate?
😆
i can only craft bronze sword
That's good enough to start with - you'll get more goodies as you go
Then use that, until you have gathered stuff for heavier things.
whats the next step?
Sunken ruins are accurate though 😆
Ah yeah! Poison resist is gonna be big
i didnt found any crypt
you gotta start listening to the raven, literally it tells you what to do
"Sunken Crypts" are squarish, squat stone structures in the swamp with a locked gate, usually with green torches outside. Unlock with the key from the Elder and go inside to plunder.
Best find a different patch of swamp then
Sometimes they don't spawn if area is too small/thin
You could just use dev commands to spawn one in. There is a wiki, etc....
Yeah, even large looking swamps can have no crypts. Or spawners. You can be lucky to just find flowers. They usually have plenty of mobs, though.
Worst case scenario, if you really hate looking but don't want to spawn stuff in, you could go use the valheim map Gen website and find what you need
(Breaks immersion a bit, but you do you
One tactic is to sail along swamp coastline and look for green torches - if you see green torches and a squarish shape, that's a crypt. It's rarely worth your time to land in narrow swamps jammed between the ocean and a mountain for example, those very rarely have anything interesting in them.
Even the smaller swamps can have flowers. I want those ASAP.
Flowers?
You've played this before, yes?
Yeah, turnips are game changers. My first playthrough I couldn't find turnips for days, was getting so frustrated!
Ah
||ahem Yeah sorry, I just called em individual items of a particular interest lol||
I was being a little ambiguous since they are a new player.
And I don't remember how to grey out my posts like that.
Ah, yeah, thanks.
The chicken before the egg kinda vibes 😉
Yeh fair point
Heh, I can even see the boiling sea and the spikes from my balcony, this outpost is well placed. Now just wait for dawn and set off!
me sitting here with ptsd of my first landing solo
Yup have fun with that
Totally not dangerous at all
when are these lazy devs releasing an update? no sign of life in like 6 months...
Cant rush art
Ah yes, we didnt even get any word from them... Oh, wait, what are the monthly updates we get quite regularly called again? 😄
Would you prefer an EA release or a thing of beauty?
It will be released when it is ready. Also worth noting that Deep North will come with 1.0, so the Big One. More than "just" another biome.
not even monthly anymore..
guys i think i figured it out! i set my render scale* to 50% - and now my computer doesn't overheat anymore 🙂 it also means my valheim can still look beautiful!
Been since Summer break.
i mean come on they sold like 2 million copies in the first few months of the launch and they didnt hire a single other worker after that
You too? How'd you adjust the nativity?
5 -> 15ish workers since EA release.
oh sorry i meant render scale*
Ah lol
sure
Now this is just false 😄 Its been monthly at least since January 2024, the only exception being the month they are on vacation every year 🙂
And they've been doing quite well. I don't know about you but I prefer new updates well worked through and ready when released, rather than a rushed mess. Also, throwing more people on a project in progress is not guaranteed success. You have to spend time training people and having them learn the project and its code first. Takes a shitload of time. I am quite happy to wait for DN until it is ready, whenever that is. There's plenty to do in the meantime.
oh wow true, these months just feel so long i guess
Just be patient 🙂 when we get the update it will be amazing and worth the wait, i am quite certain of that.
I always want the quickest release especially in singleplayer or co-op games since the players give the best feedback and quickest ways to fix problems
I mean why wouldn't you release a harmless prototype to get the quickest and the best feedback from the people who play the game?
Because developers have their own vision of the game which they follow.
Sure, players can suggest additions in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202312684364910612 and developers may add ideas if they personally see them fit. Many things have been added in game by suggestions.
so the 11 extra developers doesn't count 🤔
But like people said above, Deep North is coming and it will be worth it. Meanwhile you can still play new playthroughs and try some new playstyles or you can have a break from the game and return when the update is here.
Needs to be playable and up to some semblance of standard in an early access title. What we are doing here is basically a very drawn out playtesting, to be fair. And as far as early access goes, Valheim is by far the cleanest one I have ever played in terms of polish and quality. Would it be nice with quicker updates? Sure, but not at the cost of quality.
And being fully honest, we got some good devs which actually are willing to hear us out. Ain't no bungee that's for sure.
So best give em some credit for working on stuff this late into the game without making the new biomes a paid dlc
No sign of life in 6 months?… when did call to arms come out??
nothingburger of an update
( '_')
OK, you just lost all credibility with me. Glad I wasn't participating in this talk in the first place.
🤦♂️
Someone’s salty about dying to TWIG…
be nice people 🤔
Well hold on, I’m genuinely curious, why do you feel it was a nothingburger 🤔
I’ll be as nice as they are, boss 😇
the talismans were boring af, only 1 armorset and like 1 weapon as far as i remember might have been something else in there too idk
I'm just curious why a single modder can release the entire deep north combat content in three months when it takes a full staffed, well funded development team of 15 a year..
Gotcha, I mean that’s fair- if you’re not a fan of the content, it is what it is. Personally I really enjoyed the combat changes and the new mobs, but I get why it’s not for everyone.
combat update was only ment to get feedback on the fighting and addressing the sloped combat issue that almost every single player complained about 🤔
I would at the very least read the detailed patchnotes again 🙂
🤷
I am.. quite comfident that our deep north will blow alot of minds
So you not liking it translates to "no sign of life"? Now you're just trolling. Besides, sloped combat fix was one of the most wanted things ever judging by suggestions and angry reddit rants...
so the "single modder" 's version is a pale copy paste job in comparison
What modder made Deep North in 3 months 🤔
sure i guess they might have fixed that but thats literally the bare minimum, and exactly as stratag said some other modders create content way faster than a well funded game company whats that all about
It should be 15 people x 4 quarters = 60 X better.
Fingers crossed it's 60X better...
atleast 68x+1% better
we'll see
in 2027
Sigh. Modders making shit cannot be compared to actually developing the very platform they are modding. Modders can do whatever they want without caring one whit about how it affects any systems, as long as the mod works they happy.
And I'd be fine seeing it then
Cyberviking 2099? 😄
I’m still curious which Deep North mod took 3 months to make 🤔
When you publicly state that modding is just as difficult as creating a game from scratch... Anyways, I have a game to play.
It's more difficult, because they don't have access to the soure code.
🤔
in what world would that be fine
I’d like to see perspective from a mod maker on that
They're too busy creating content during the draught between yearly updates.
This one 🙂
In the "I have a lot i can do in the meantime, or play another game if I'm bored while waiting world."
genuinely slowest early acces game progress i've seen in a long while from a game
Which is the deep north mod that was made in 3 months time? 🤔
Then go do something else and please stop the nonsensical jabs at the developing time 🙂
I mean, if you feel the progress of the game is too slow, that’s fair- nothing wrong with having an opinion 🤔
But I’m just curious where the stance comes from.
And opinions are just fine, just don't go tearing good devs down
won't get done any faster to be honest
You already did, and it buuuuurns

just being bored good games get pushed back and everytime i wait in excitement subnautica 2 ark 2 gta 6 for a good game it leaves me feeling betrayed by the team like if you're going to promise a game for a time then you better get the game out at that time
Didja land yet? Lol
also nuclear nightmares roadmap was just complete lies but thats another story
Too busy on discord, just hopped on the boat
I like Miyamoto's philosophy,"A delayed game is eventually good. A rushed game is bad forever."
Holy bloody crap the drakkar is so slow to turn, I could barely turn it around before I was into the boiling sea
literally doesn't make sense but alr
cyberpunk 2077
rushed
no mans sky
rushed
yeah sure the game cant be updated sure
well if you rush a game you get valuable feedback from the players on what needs to be improved and update the game accordingly?
Ok this person is clearly not serious
Well, you might like to get broken crap and wait years for it to actually be playable, but I am grateful IG don't work that way.
Sadly seems like big blue friend indeed...
I'd play shit for a year and then something good than nothing for a year and then something good idk about you
like 5% gives feedback, 95% gives bad reviews 🤔
i swear im not trolling
And bad reviews last a lot longer than an update that might fix a few issues
yup
Not to mention that if you would push out a version unfinished like Koplini wants people would report mostly stuff you knew about already anyway...
most people who writes a bad review, never goes back to the game. or even change a bad review even if they like the game after being fixed
well.. Koplini wants public testing
I am very sorry but it 100% seems like you do
which we have done 100's of times by now
I don’t think he’s trolling, he’s just sharing his opinion 🤔
Might be unpopular and we disagree with it, but if we just namecall and bash, I don’t think we’ll be changing any minds
yup
Well, thing is we already have something good to play, what we are waiting for is the final icing on the cake, and I very much prefer that to be up to the same standard instead of them landing a rushed update that breaks stuff that's been working for years, just to sate some people who go me me me more more more.
already did everything man, theres not even achievements to complete cmon
Of VERY early version, which you probably know has lot of problems already and are working on fixing them, not to mention it would not have all the content if it would be pushed out in the state they seem to want.
Then move on to a different game and come back
1638 hours from me on a game that has not hit 1.0 and I paid $20 for it at launch
Safe to say I got my money's worth lol
Dayum only got 600 myself lol
You know... Dire wolves! See, not wolves, but dire, and and... Ice serpent! Serpent but ice... Etc.
subnautica has proven that tiny updates often kills of testers...
Argh, I just can't get used to not being able to shoot from the tiller on the drakkar, I'm gonna sink the boat before I reach shore. Blasted bonemaws.
There’s also a thing called common courtesy. How much are you going to listen to someone that barges into your home and insults the decor?
This is just much as his space as it ours 🙂
Exactly, which is to say, not much at all
It’s Iron Gate’s space; we just occupy it
Some of us pass through, some stick around. But all of us are guests.
To be clear, I do disagree with his stance
It’s 1000% up to the developer to decide how long it takes to make their product.
It’s 1000% up to the player to decide if they want to purchase a product that is incomplete (early access)
I have played this game so long I remember the original Mistlands beta
and at the end of the day, complaining won't help nor will it speed up the development process
I loved that
Hmmm... I've found 9 pillars that look close enough together to tempt me into doing another build along their tops, to see if I can connect them all.
some has been around longer than others
Be glad I’m not a dev; I’d go slower out of spite 🤣
everytime someone asks "deep north when" we add 1 day 🤔
Yeah, I've been around since about 2 weeks after it went up on Steam.
Yessssss do it
I remember when the original Mistlands beta was just a a bunch of these spider areas
best #suggestions post ever
an hour before release I am gonna spam "deep north when!?!?" 10 times in chat
Now that is evil
I've said it before, but I'll say it again. It wouldn't hurt to make the drakkar ever so slightly more manoeuvrable, navigating this bloody block of concrete through a rocky maze is...frustrating.
It’s like an 18-wheeler
so you're telling me. I need to tell you 1 hour before deep north comes. 🤔
clever plan
Yeah, nice try Snail- trying to be the first in-the-know
I have been at the helm of 300-meter oil tankers that felt more responsive
Snail doing his part.
Alright, time to boot up Valheim for hopefully an hour!
Barely even remember what I was going in my current run lol
Psst, bears.
Bear pie
Orange marmelade is better 😄
LOL I don’t think it was bear related, looks like im working on a new build in the Black Forest. Which actually is sorta bear related lol
Afraid we only know how to make marmalade sandwiches
Oh bother.
With all the talk of bears i ended up reading that in a Winnie the pooh voice. Wish we could tame em
Oh good! 🍯 That was the intention!
Ashlands question: ||I can't remember, do the fire storms extend out beyond the shore? Setting up a small hovel on a spire just within sight of the beach, and I'm wondering if I need to cover it?||
As long as you are within the biome they should be possible i believe.
Aright, need to get some grausten then
It really doesn’t help that he’s Winnie the Pooh colored
Yeah now it started 😄
Are you on the beach yet?
Mention thing on discord and it will happen in game XD
Heck no, spawners there, at least three of them. I want to make sure I have a good retreat position before I creep closer to try and take them out.
But I don't want my workbench to burn so I'll have to wait a while
You're smarter then I was then lol, didn't realise they were spawners till after I landed and started fighting lol
Do wards have a 30 meter spawn block range like I thought, or only 20 like the wiki says?(please ping me if replying)
20 should be accurate afaik 🤔
Thanks I feel it would be nice if upgraded to 30, a middle spawn blocker between workbenches and artisan tables. Plus could go with its name with it warding off spawns.
Btw what is actually considered a meter in game?
Oh🤦♂️ I'm a moron
Its okay 😄 brain sometimes not braining for all of us
With it not being largely just a pvp item only.
winnie the pooOOOHH YEAH BROTHER!!!1
I mean, if we could tame a bear, had a red saddle which wrapped around it's torso, used a harpoon on a boar and named ourselves Christopher, we could have "Winnie the Pooh and his adventures in valheim
Whew! Finally found a sharpening stone in a chest, and had a bit of a panic on whether or not I had remembered to already add it to my forge. 😄 I did, so new player mistake avoided.
It has been so long since I last even found one, I was wondering if they had been removed.
"W-w-w what are we doing today Pooh?" piglet asks nervously "Killing a god piglet and then getting some honey cause I've got a rumbly in my tumbly! Hmm hm hm!"
Are there any Xbox servers people host on this discord?
all those are in #1024264966712340510
Bloody hell I'm scared. But I managed to get into an offshore ruin and get a sheltered room in order with black forge for repairs, and a fire. Only questions is - do I place a bed here so I can do local corpse runs? Worst case I get stuck here naked unable to get my stuff back - or get home. Ofc I can always break the bed if the worst comes to worst.
storms in a raft sure are great
Quite a ride anyway..
Off shore has been pretty safe for me. So that might be safe enough for you.
Just get a fortified base on land ASAP.
Going to risk it, but the beach assault will have to wait to tomorrow, need to get some sleep before work. (I am a master procrastinator)
Actually quite pleased with being able to build a "mountain" cabin with this kind of view 😄 #screenshots message

there is a command called "dpsdebug" 🤔
playing Valheim be like: started playing at 6:00AM, I checked time and it says 6:30AM, then proceed to play a bit more, then I checked time and it says 7:30PM already.
Well damn, time flies too fast when playing Valheim or Terraria (I used to), and other popular game.
i would pay $100 to be able to play valheim for 12 hours…. 😢
I never played a game for hours like that until Valheim came along. Maybe 4 to 5 hours, but not 12. I have with Valheim.
For weeks on end.
my valheim total playtime is about to hit 300 hours
Nope, just pick weapons you like to use.
Game is more into the survival aspect rather than rpg.
i see thanks
it's definitly my favorite game of all time. I hate that lots of games these days are trying to be "ultra realistic", like yeah the game is pretty but 1. You need a BEEFY high performance PC to play it, and 2. The game is visually better than the actual gameplay itself. Valheim's art reminds me of Runescape, it has so much to offer with it's simple, unqiue but beautiful visuals, the pixelated look they went with gives it a special kind of charm. Does the game have it's flaws? Of course, but all games do. That's just my opinion.
I think more game developers should focus on what makes the game "fun" and not "realistic"
Valheim is certainly doing a good job of that
should i fight elder or bonemass now that i have copper
It's generally better to fight the bosses in order, I would say Elder. So that way you can get the Crypt Key so you can advance to Iron to get better armor/tools to be better prepared for Bonemass. I think you can only really find the items (withered bones) to summon Bonemass in the crypts. I could be wrong, if you go into a swamp and find a ruin with a chest they.. (may) have withered bones. I would have to look it up though.
*Swamp Key
Yeah that one 😂
Hey
rainworld!
I didn't do anything to you
but your friend where playing Roblox and streaming it with his mic and sound muted
why do people use ai for that.... a default pfp is infinitely more respectable
Did you guys use AI in the making of valheim
Yea
You guys used AI in the making of valheim didn't you
wait about invisible pfp?
Everything is better then an AI pfp
so you just started throwing insults now?
no AI ever involved
I don't understand why would you have it
You can literally get a random cat picture
It would be a Milion times cuter and better
not certainly better but it's bit annoying to see.......
valheim huh? any fans
just longtime veteran me here
Yes it is AI is the absolute worst sure it's good for help and questions (it's lies alot too) but it's putting alot of people out of jobs
Coders,builders,any type of cashier's
And maybe even power work like mining and even police
This is pretty off topic
AI looks better but it's annoying to see at same time though
No it's just confusing and annoying
it's my option, i don't like it much because i hate feeling that how much AI slop have taken over, so we should stop talking about this now.
Can I play valheim and watch a video in the side?
Or am I gonna get the firing squad for doing so
Valheim is allowed to stream in this server, if that's what you're asking.
Like a voice chat stream...?
Iam talking about streaming it and watching someone like dean withers on the side
You know
Like on the side of the screen
That'd be against the rules
Not just the game though
