Fins of destiny are so underrated
Eikythrs power paired with it
eh not really needed imo
Its just cool
Unless you're just using it as a substitute for a boat
I suppose using fins of destiny could be better than a boat for transporting metal? Your inventory carries more than a boat does
But then again you can also just be overburdened on a boat
Aw my kitty is watching my screen from my lap as I play. He was resting his head on the computer desk.
While you can be overencumbered on the boat you cant steer it when you are 🙂
Eh - combat update?
OK, who lite the beacons and summoned the Rohan? 🤣
Archery target, dummy for hitting and leveling your skills, slope combat is better
Wooden weapons for leveling your skills - but of course you can only find those in loot chests
So eh
Not toooo much
Valheim 1 isnt even fully released
Valheim 2 will ng+
Valheim already has an unfinished ng+ system accessible with commands
🤯 actually didnt know
What is ng+?
New game plus, you play the game from the start again with an old character. The game becomes harder and crafted items become stronger to balance this.
but it's very broken because we aren't supposed to use it in it's current state
Thanks eh I never really liked that feature much feels like walking towards a point where you lose everything due to it becoming impossibly hard. Plus not sure about it for long form games.
Hope others who do like it enjoy it though.
Plains are closest
I want a "on top of world tree" biome lol, maybe after finishing the deep north and less as a new challenge but just a new interesting area.
Just is something I wanted to be able to do since I first heard of the game.
Pretty sure not gonna happen 🤔
Yea but still me want lol.
A grassy/mossy area on top of massive branches with lots of resources(well variety not like everything is super easy to get in bulk) and non-hostile critters.
And ontop of the tree U find Malenia
Malenia? though also imagine building a hanging base from a branch.
@summer fern U dont know elden Ring?
Heard of it, never played or looked into it much. Saw that is was related to elden ring when looking up the name you gave but didn't know any specifics.
I guess but what does she have to do with the tree or anything?
She just like super strong and dangerous? so you meet her and die immediately?
I just don't get the funny sadly. She found on top of a tree? also does the idea of being able to do stuff on top of that tree sound fun? Just it is there taunting me throughout the game lol. Like "oh if only we could venture up there".
I hope even if not at first, there is eventually some big gameplay reward for beating the deep north, a new place, new parts. Just something I guess. I would vote you gain access to the tree top, on top of automation/moving focused parts allowing you to animate your builds. Or stuff within it gets access to those.
Valheim has so much potential.
Well as I want any kind of automation system to be very mechanical and not like advanced, water pumping would probably be like a rotating wheel with buckets on the ends.
I never gave water pumping much thought as it wasn't the focus, but maybe if the devs like the idea and have some ideas for giving water uses.
I'm interested in this
Never heard of it. How does it work in its current state?
I was told very unbalanced, unsure which way though.
It is
I haven’t played with it so I don’t know exactly what it does. It makes all enemies and equipment stronger, and every item tracks what NG+ level it was obtained in so you need to gather new materials to make equipment and obtain new boss sacrifice items to summon the forsaken. You can enable it with the setkey command. I think the key is worldlevel?
But it’s very broken and I wouldn’t recommend using it. Just make a new character with a world modifier preset if you want a challenge.
When you beat deep north game should end and cutscene of you entering Valhalla. Which is the whole point of the game
I hope it's not immediately upon beating the boss or hanging the trophy, but something that can be chosen by the player. So there's still an optiion for folks who enjoy exploring the world further. Maybe you interact with the symbol where the valkyrie dropped you originally, signaling her return.
I think people should wait with posting about what the game "should do in / after the Deep North" until the Deep North biome actually went live.
Other as some teasers from the Hervor Bloodtooth videos we don't know what's going to happen there.
You know that's not gonna happen!
Speculators gonna speculate
True. But using "should" isn't speculating, imho.
Using "I hope the devs do" or "It would be nice if the devs did" are a lot more friendly towards the dev as it's not telling them what to do.
It would be neat to unlock a final portal that takes us to Valhalla, and we can visit a place populated with some Vikings/Odin/etc. With that same portal we can return to Valheim as well.
In this way they could plant an NPC that tracks your achievements and tells you if you're finished in Valheim in that regard, things like that could be neat.
Perhaps even some vikings that represent developers are in Valhalla, and have unique dialogue.
Ragnar Smiffeson 🤣
I hope the deep north has some ways to get iron in large amounts, can be a little tiring raiding crypts.
Oh ashlands base? I don't have a good experience with that lol, lava slimes and dvergr rongues leading to creatures fighting and destroying my stuff in the cross fire. With no real way I knew of to stop it since lava slimes can destroy terrain too.
I recommend if you do that, have it be on a island with a gap between it and the actual ashlands area.
Absolutely, I would recommend finding a peninsula along the shorelines, something that sticks out on it's own, and build back along the water. I've done this multiple times and nothing ever approaches me in a spot like this.
That similar to my advice of a island close to the main ashlands land? Am curious if we kind of recommended the same thing by coincidence.
Less approach options for enemies, with a choke point for their pathing, and a possible dock point should you need it.
A peninsula is just a peice of land that sticks out from the main terrain, like a thumb from a closed fist. Not an island.
Ah I guess, personally I am scared of touching the mainland ashlands with a base after my last experience lol.
I wouldn't be sure if any other way is feasible, the Ashlands are brutal by design.
I beat it, but my base constantly had issues with dvergr rogues making stuff explode or roll into my base damaging my walls.
crossfire threat? lava slimes and morgen. A terrain wall can stop morgens rolling into it, but lava slimes can damage terrain.
Well if I recall a morgen can roll up against a wall dealing a chain of attacks for like a half-dozen hits at once.
I think I have had cases or well a case where 1 morgen quickly destroyed a few 4x2 stone walls.
That was fun to clean up lol. My base suddenly getting stormed with charred.
You get all the resources back outside of sharp stake walls.
Almost all player build pieces drop all of their materials when destroyed in any way
Yes, and many other pieces too. Campfires work well because enemies won’t target them.
Yes for me though it just pushed back the issue to where my spawn blocker structures would get destroyed.
Well if I recall mislands gets pretty close, and blackforest can go very far out too, I am unsure on specifics I just recall seeing black forests, mistlands, and mountains that far out, well plains too.
I cannot think of anywhere
A volcano? or volcanic area? See mixed stuff online about the hottest location on the Earth.
does anyone know how many bears you have to kill to get a trophy lol ive killed so many lol
The chance does feel pretty low to me too, killed lots and only have 1 trophy.
It’s a 10% drop rate
oh dang lol ok ill keep killing them
Their fire isn’t blockable but their other attacks all are
Thanks
They can be dodged but not parried
Do archery targets and TWIG's give combat experience?
If you have made new world after CtA update Haldor camp will have bear rug which can be destroyed after finding and leaving and returning the area. The rug will drop the trophy.
Both do, but archery target grants less xp. Arrows can be reclaimed from target tho, but it's more effective to make bunch of wooden arrows and shoot the T.W.I.G.
So if willing to lose arrows, Twig, if not target?
Correct.
Thanks nice to have more potential rooms for bases, like a training room.
What skills can the target and twig train?
Twig can train any weapon skill and blocking
dodging? or no
I don’t know about the target. Crossbows probably work, maybe not magic
That too, but it levels very slowly and isn’t a valuable buff either
so does magic work for twig?
Yes
So the golem trap and frost staff thing I saw in a video isn't needed anymore for quick magic skill training?
It would be a little better because if you use too much magic you’ll destroy the twig while frost won’t damage the golem at all but a twig is much easier to set up
Ah so still a advantage to a creative solution which is good.
Great lol I build a staircase only to go after finishing it: "hmm what if I put it here instead? would save lots of space". Now old staircase will be useless in the final design.
TWIG returns its mats tho if it gets destroyed.
Yea but still being able to just keep focusing on the magic skill with no small interruptions is nice.
Twig loses aggro fast so you can get the resting effect for faster eitr regen easily
Aggro? so my guess that the ectoplasm requirement is for animating it a little was right?
Torturing souls for experience apparently lol. Is our viking doing okay?
Oh also yea my new staircase design seems to be working well so far in its construction, removed the old one.
ooo ill give that a try
Got a 160 tissue and several skulls marked on my map, but only 3 cores 😔
||Infested mine|| luck has not been on my side
So many ||dvergr outposts|| tho
i just logged into my world after a long break and for some reason theres like alot of fog, is this normal? its in the meadows biome lol
like its to the point where i can barely see anything
cores are my bane too, last run was god awful. and i hate deconstructing and swapping cores around to do stuff
Did they change Thor? It looks like a reindeer with a carriage instead 😱😍
My latest run was like that. Hopefully it will change for you on your 5th one like it did for us.
does treasure respawn in the crypts and burial chambers?
Nope, only the yellow mushrooms do 🙂
Should still be the same i think 🤔
bugs. I guess I still need to find more tombs and such
Try sleeping, weather can sometimes be like that for a while 🙂
Honestly my core luck has been decent, 2 cores in first mine 1 in second mine
The problem is Ive only found 2 mines after exploring 3 mistlands areas. Found 12-13 ||dvergr settlements|| tho
I might have seen it wrong 😂🙈
last question for the day, since I limit myself to 2 a day. What if anything boosts mining power? I know leveling does, but like the elder boosts woodcutting
Might be
i would expect at least a patchnote if they changed Thors appearance for xmas
The boss powers were tweaked in CtA update 😉 look at Elders again
||bonus to axe knife and sword, but I don't see anything about pix||
Are you sure you are looking at Elders power?
Also, there is no power that boost only those weapons specifically 🤔
so many modded servers...doesn't anyone just play the game as intended?
You can filter to only vanilla posts in #1024264966712340510 🙂
I do. 💪
I mean generally, not atm.
i don't mean to sound like I'm complaining, I'm new to the game, I'm just seeing tons of people advertising modded servers out there, heh
Just ignore them 😄
i figured it out, thanks! my friend informed me the server i'm on has a forsaken power mod or something, sorry for the confusion
Ah, that would explain it 😄
he said the server had a few QOL mods, and to me, that usually is like, special slots for shields or bags and lights, not changes to core mechanics
This isn't your first time in the Mistlands mines, is it? IE you know about the hidden doors?
Been in the mines plenty before and know all the tricks yeah
Then hopefully you have all the crap RNG luck out of the way then, and will soon have 20+ cores.
I will say, battleaxes in dungeons freaking rule
I usually use the sledge hammers, but they do work well too.
Judicious use of the poison bombs can make things easier too.
cant wait to be back in mistlands
i miss my magic lol. hopefully i can find moder today
doing a mapless solo run, hoping to make this world my one big everything world
Glad more people are finding the way to battleaxes.
Solid weapons, no doubt 💪
Would y’all like to see environment builds?
think i can kill moder with the root armor set?
archery buff is probably nice
i just hope the armor stat isn't so weak i get 1 shot by a chomp or something lol
spawner found! plains here we come babyyyyy
I haven't used sledge hammers much, but planning on trying out the mistlands one
My concern with using them in dungeons is I feel like its hard to avoid hitting enemies through walls
I kinda like the ||ashlands lightning greatsword,|| and really want a battleaxe version of that
Hitting 5 enemies at once and seeing sparks flying while you're staggering all of them would be majestic
easily, yes
Her attacks arent hard to dodge, which makes whatever you wear irrelevant.
sweet
i hate wasting material on armor sets im just going to ditch right after the boss anyway
i maxed out everything on my hardcore run but it made more sense to do that then
For me it all depends on how expensive or difficult it is to get the materials
Like bronze takes forever to mine and the armor is kinda meh compared to alternatives, so I never make or upgrade it
But silver is easy to get so I'll upgrade that
yeah silver has been the easiest so far it just weighs a ton
blackmetal is gas, it's extremely easy
mistlands upgrades i am dreading, that biome without a map is so difficult lol
good thing you just have to cart it downhill
When I did a no map run I did mistlands before yag. The mist is def a pain, but using the shore as a guide to get back where you came from is nice.
I set up base in plains near the mistlands, and anytime I got lost in mistlands I could always find the ocean and just follow it back
But it can be painful yeah
For you fishing pros out there, where do you find tuna consistently? Feels like I mostly find pufferfish and coral cod all over the ocean, tuna seems very random.
I tend to find them as rogue wanderers in the ocean lol sometimes they get close to shore. They move crazy fast, so they usually find me first while I’m fishing for other ocean fish
Try from different spots and they might eventually appear, they tend to swim fast and bit deeper than other fish.
Ugh, lost one half the size of my longship, bounced once on the boat and fell off
And now all the damn cods have eaten all my heavy bait, time to hunt more serpents instead
I once got quality 5 tuna, it's huge.
I can imagine. Largest fish I've seen was a lvl 4 pike, it was a damn alligator
I was legit scared of a quality 5 when it swam under my raft once, I marked it and came back to catch it later.
I thought it was a shark 😅
I have gotten quality 5 perch, pike, trollfish, pufferfish, grouper and tuna so far.
Feels good to be back after a long long hiatus! I see there are server settings now available when creating a game. Is the needed for mods no more?
What mods exactly?
Like skill ups, farming growth speed, breeding speeds/distance needed
Or I guess is it more common to find servers hosting mods or just barebones with the in-game settings changed
Hmm, none of those really need mod, since some settings you can change with commands (setkey).
World modifiers have slider options to change difficulty, loot drop, death penalty, raid frequency and portal restrictions (no portals too), plus some others like no map, fire spread, build mode, passive enemies etc.
Taming has gotten new mead that reduces the time to half while the effect is on.
Very cool! Thanks!
And I always say this, but I’ll say it again, mistlands mist is actually helping you deal with enemies
You can’t see them, but they can’t see you either
Does pufferfish poison damage scale up with the quality of the fish?
Does it? The light bar when I'm sneaking is sometimes full in mistlands with plenty of mist around
According to steam discussions and some vague memories of a similar discussion a year ago, no
But I guess it makes it easier to hit people if the fish is bigger
Rats, though maybe the bigger ones could be used as improvised poison grenades in some situations. But with that damage tick it is mostly cosmetic
Yeah it's not much :/
How much is the damage tick?
It could be a funny base defense but it wouldn't be particularly strong
I think not.
Don't remember, but I have never felt threatened by it even when low on health
The smaller ones can jump on boat on spot where you cannot pick it but it will poison you if you sit on the bench.
Sounds very annoying, never happened to me though, thankfully
May do quite a bit more damage to mobs than to players tho. Players tend to have pesky armor reducing the danage
Seen someone use them for a greydwarf kill pit
Are anglerfish extremely rare? Now that I am actively looking for them, I can't find any
They should be quite common in Mistlands waters. Their light shows the way.
Yaaay got one
It was alone though
Dangit, I bet it's the dvergr's fault, they're secretly trawling mistlands waters
Kill the dvergr, end their fishing shenanigans
This mistlands is nearely devoid of marine life. Seen a few pufferfish, but no anglers
ITs not easy to find schools of them, so when you do, mark them. I even put portals near them, but your doing a no portal run.
Yeah I'm sailing along my known mistlands coasts looking for them now. If I knew they were rare I'd have marked them earlier
But I never bothered trying to fish for them before 😄
I've had worlds where I didn't think they were rare, but they were a challenge to find on the last two worlds.
On my old world I built a portal outpost on the southernmost island I could find, near the Ashlands sea - it had two or three schools around it, and was so close to the Ocean that serpents aggroed on me while I was walking around on land
Dangit I should hop on there and fish instead
I've only had serpents aggro on me on land while in the Ashlands.
Fairly frequently in the world we wrapped up last night.
Yeah the bonemaws don't mind shallow water, regular serpents I've only seen doing that on that island
I only died twice on Fader. Better than I did with the Queen.
For my first time.
It was only my second and third time dying, over all. So I think a zero death run on standard is very feasible.
Nice work
Thanks. My wife died only once, but over all she has died more than I did.
Considering she doesn't even use shields in addition to not dodge rolling, I'm still impressed.
Cool!
Finally found a school, then a bloody tuna is circling my bait scaring the anglerfish off
||Fader|| doesn't really light you on fire, does he? From what I remember its mostly like instant fire damage?
Maybe I'm wrong
Gods, a quality 2 one disintegrated my 230 stamina in seconds, how are you even supposed to reel in a quality 5 one?
It had me on fire too. You do die fast from that ground attack. If the heavy armor does any good, thats still an overly nasty attack.
90+ skill and 3 best stamina foods.
Drink a stamina potion
Getting to 90 skill in fishing will take some serious dedication...
I only did it once, and I'm never doing it again.
I've spent 4-5 hours just fishing in the game since last night, I've raised the skill once. To 21. Getting it to even 30 seems like pure fantasy.
I'll cheat with dev commands before I ever spend that much time again.
Hey you only need like... 65? If you get the fishing hat
Just reeling in the line earns you XP. So I get into the 20's pretty quickly.
40's and above is when it got really bad.
You bloody tease TAKE THE BAIT! AARGH!
I don't like fishing in mixed groups. They pull that crap all day long.
word, just the action of reeling levels it up. its EASIER to catch fish asap by doing the trick where you put it right next to your boat, but your skill will never go up
I do a mix of both, depending on what sizes I am seeing and what my skill is currently at.
I'm casting far to try and lure them close to the boat, but not let them bite until just near. But they keep going "NAH, SCREW THAT!" and turn around
Yeah, its better to get your boat closer to them.
Unless your just casting to get XP.
you gotta feel that long game of leveling your skill and being ok when the q2+ get away
for nowww….
but you kids and your instant gratification.
This was nice, found a school next to a dvergr dock, so I can stand casting from their dock and chill with the dudes
Those tend to be my favorite Angler spots too. With one or two exceptions.
hello
I'm wondering if being wet would help. It does reduce the time fire is active by quite a bit I believe
idk how viable it is to get wet mid fight. I'm assuming digging down in ashlands would lead to water and not lava
how can i join to ther server?
Look in #1024264966712340510 to see if there's someone you're interested in joining
Worth testing.
I trawled the suggestions channel for a good while trying to find any suggestions on making the dvergr wisp beacon something you can build and came up short. Weird, but I posted a suggestion about it now anyway. Hoping it gets some traction, I'd love to be able to clear a bit more mist around my mistlands outpost! #suggestions message
anyone wanna play
OMG had an angler on that must have been at least Q3, was bigger than me. Bloody monster!
Ate all my stamina before I could reel it in from 2m haha
lol, yup, that’s why you gotta put the time in catching the little fishies
I want this monster on an item stand, marking this place on the map
Oh, that’s something I never thought of before. Do fish not spawn or change quality similar to deer and boars?
I mean, similar to how deer and doors DON’T change. And you can come back and see the same two hours later.
Oh my God, my voice to text right now. Bear with me.
Anything that has spawned stays there until killed or caught, unless it is nightspawn that despawns at dawn
That’s awesome, so you can have the same legendary huge fish in a spot and be like your white whale you try to catch
They wander, but remain in the same area unless like a deer they get chased by something, they can end up anywhere if the area around them remains active
seen a deer being chased by a lox out in the ocean once, far from any meadows or plains
I never figured out that thing fished you after they get off, where they have the white around them and don’t bite, I never hung around to see if the white ripples went away for how that works
Like if that’s the fish version of an alerted boar, and you just have to wait it out for few minutes, but I never saw one start biting again after I lost it on a hook
yeah they do, this big monster fish bit again now, lost it again. There's just no way I can catch this guy now, have to come back another day with stamina potions and moar skill
Need to defeat the ocean boss to get -70% fishing stamina drain
ohh right, i heard that got added with the in my dreams update
does the white ripple aura disappear when they’re gonna bite again or does that just always stay on?
yeah it faded, so there's probably some timer on it
Ah well, got a few of these buggers now. Tetra next!
What was used for the magma fish bait before Ashlands was released?
I think just the basic bait worked for them. I don't have any clear memory about it, though.
Makes sense
Maybe one day, IE 1.0, we will get a fishing mead. Since they have made one for practically everything else. Or add it to a boss power.
Tbh, fishing mead sounds like pretty good idea 😄 might be worth a suggestion
I like how fishing works, the stamina drain can be so frustrating though... I do think the skill might need a tweak to level faster
Seems like they have them all require the same XP chart.
Yeah, they can tweak how you gain xp though
That differs drastically between various skills
Like the 1.5 for parry, etc...
I make a point of not "learning" the wiki info. Ruins a game for me. So at best I have brush strokes of an understanding about wiki info.
Yeah Fishing levels are difficult to gain, I might also tweak Dodge if it were up to me.
Heh, my wife and I don't dodge, so thats a non issue for us.
My Fishing is level 34 and I fish every morning.
I haven't read anything about skill xp on the wiki, don't even know if there is any info on it there. You just use various skills in so fundamentally different ways that I bet they had to be creative figuring out what would "tick" xp for some skills. I think fishing and maybe cooking are two exampels that should maybe tick a bit more often.
Since that one time I got my fishing to... 94, I think, my highest has been 32.
I might change it so skill gain is also tied to bait consumption for fishing, so it's not just the act of fishing itself, but the cost, act and knowledge behind bait usage.
Like I said, I will never do that again. I think it was driving me insane. 😄
Not a long trip for me in the first place.
I totally believe you
Yeah, I think I can honestly say it broke me. I simply could not do it anymore.
Heh sailing along the coast on my way home, watching nightspawned fulings and seekers slaughter the wildlife
They are even in the meadows, so I get to listen to that in several of my worlds. Now we have defeated Fader, so get the warriors too.
Thats only in the one world, though.
How good is bear armor?
Best for that stage.
It's my favorite black forest armor now 👍
Agreed.
not very unless in a highly specific build
Highly specific?
Good armor, great bonus', and with my shield, I don't notice the draw backs.
a berserk build, funnily enough
Meaning?
a build built around the berserk bonus
because otherwise it's just a set that makes you take more damage
That's more of a playstyle awareness, not so much a "build"
Um... no? Lol
What beserk bonus? From the mead?
Ok here is a quite dumb question, but is it good enoguh to be used in hardcore?
I would recommend it to be honest
If you like swords and/or axes - armor is great.
umm yes, that's what the set bonus does
Oh so dmg bonus carries over to ANY slash dmg
Yeah, if you never block anything ever... sure.
Yes.
Not just one from bear bear claws
another way of saying "if you get hit"
which is the way taking damage functions, yes
Hmmm
The armor has zero drawbacks unless you suck at combat @unkempt marten
other than the effect which makes you take more damage when you get hit
apparently sevrahn never gets hit, ever
Blocking doesn't care about your armor.
Neither does dodging.
So like I said...
Even then, you have enhanced HP regen, so unless you're being slapped around by mobs, you won't feel it often.
you said it has no drawbacks
I always block, so my shield always takes the hits.
which it does
unless you suck at combat
It has no drawbacks unless you suck at combat.
I.E. don't know how to block/dodge.
If only I was as much of a pro gamer as you
I don't know about hard modes, but its a solid pick for standard play. The best pick, if you use shields.
Doesn't take anything close to a pro given how generous the parry/dodge window is for all attacks.
I don't think there's much animosity needed here, if you aren't capable of it, no need to take away from the point being made.
the point being made is "you suck if you get hit ever, lol" so please spare me
No 🙃
I don't consider myself a pro, and I don't even use dodge or parry, and hardly ever die. I just use Tower Shields and block. Its all I need to do.
That might come off as harsh but the point is real.
Your point was "HIGHLY SPECIFIC BUILD" which is just flat-out untrue.
As it works with all slashing weapons.
Not great at combat? Perhaps consider not using the bear set.
Well in quite believing in my skills, I'm just sceptical about that bonus damage you take and how risky it is to use. Consider that I often use parry to fight too, but should I slip I want to know if I can take at least one slap on face before going down
I said its good if you're building around the set bonus, which is true
and it's mediocre if you aren't, which is also true
IDK, it does have a good armor value. So if your at least decent with blocking, wear it.
You said the exact words "highly specific" - which is asinine.
HHS food setup and you'll be fine.
asinine, I tip my fedora to you
@unkempt marten it's good enough to get you to Fenris/Wolf set without issue.
Well if so, then now just drop rate of this stupid trophy hold me back XD
Go find Haldor.
Oh right, ye I forgot
I mean its not complicated to play around the set bonus from the bear armor. Its good for hitting people and not getting hit. So dodge and attack. Its the whole gimmick.
Yeah, it can be ridiculous. Last time I got it on my first kill.
Break rug, free trophy.
if you're using a bronze shield, which is the shield you'd get in the area where you'd also get bear armor, there is a tonne of stuff you -cannot- block
Gotta find him, first. Easier to kill 20 bears.
This is false.
You mean the shield you can parry even abomination with?
It can be really comfy enoguh to get through swamps and skip upgrade of root armor?
Sounds like it. Guess he sucks at parry.
The single largest defensive upgrade in the game is not met with a ton of stuff you cannot block 😂
People keep saying that resistances do not affect what you can block or parry
They dont they affect only the dmg that gets through iirc
Im not convinced but they keep saying that, maybe its true.
Yes.
Unless you, personally, want Root Armor. 🤷♂️ Then it is totally valid to make.
yes, that shield that will get you stance broken if you try to parry plenty of other mobs with it
and I'm loving the smug superiority coming off people about PARRYING in this game
parry is stupidly easy mate
thats because of your food bonuses, not because of the armor you wear
Armor and Bonemass do not.
Serpent Shield's does because it is on the shield itself.
We do not talk about the serpent shield. That thing does whatever it wants.
Bringing up parrying for BUCKLER which is designed for exactly that is totaly valid my friend 🙂
ok, again, this is armor you get in the black forest, where it's assumed you'd have black forest tier food
You need more health if you are getting staggered
He does know I wrote the blocking sheet right?
I haven't parried for years. Made the game too easy. So I have only used Tower Shields since then. Of course now you can change the difficulty level.
Doubt it.
You did a foods one too, right?
This is all quite funny to me because pretty much all my critique regarding the armor is... regarding the armor, whereas you're going "but food, but (insert tier) shield"
Yes.
Getting staggered is dependent on your health, not your shield. That’s the point being made
Yeah, health is key for shields. Parry and block.
that's wonderful but I'll just repeat I was talking about the bear armor
Food is the most important stat in the game, and shields/dodging are central to combat. So talking about armor in a vacuum is like talking purely about fuel grade without bring up what kind of engine you're running...
The armor is simply good, whether you use full set or miss match it 🤷♂️
If you are dying with it then you need learn how to play with it and you will most likely die with other armours of the same tier
problem with this fantastic discussion is that I cannot provide much to it. I couldnt make the bear suit back then and when I finally could, I think I had the wolf suit instead.
it wasn't in a vacuum. A guy was asking about the bear armor.
So I cannot really provide any experience to it.
All I know is that resistances supposedly do not affect blocking or parrying, so the bear suit shouldnt affect that.
Now I'm thinking you don't understand what a vacuum is...
I don't die with it on, because I don't wear it, because it's mediocre
I think he might be trolling, yall
why don't you tell me what you think a vacuum is
I like it. Its what I am going to use at the bronze stage from now on. Plus, like I said, with my tower shields I never felt like the disadvantages even effected me. So I will even use it if I ever try a Zero Death Run again.
The best armor in the BF is "mediocre"... yes. He is trolling hardcore.
I do prefer my bronze suit
So do I.
but again, I didnt try the bear suit
being the best set of armor among a set of mediocre armors does not a good armor make
I just think it is ugly, so I will not use it out of sheer vanity
When I noticed there was a bear suit 2, I did make it but it took too much time, I think I had flametal by then
It's even uglier than the blue troll suit
yeah better not make it balanced
Totally true.
Blue troll suit isn’t ugly 😱
You don't like smearing blueberry jam on your naked body and calling that "being clothed"? 😏
I do not like how it looks. and the Vile version is even uglier.
I absolutely hate the Vile head piece.
Troll armour is reminiscent of my namesake
i love my blueberry paint. the head is comically big. but the rest is awesome
Haven’t made the vile stuff, we’ve only killed one so far
I wish we could update older armor with newer materials
Bear hat being obscenely large is why I don't wear it, lol.
I hate the blue colour, if I could dye it I'd be happy. Maybe one day...
we can do that in core keeper, its really fun
Maybe 🤷🏻♂️
I find the head piece is ugly, you may want to look up images of it.
Ah, well we’ll eventually get to it. Maybe
I always just go Troll -> Fenris, there's no reason not to
Vile one is good for Pierce, but Ask armor is just a straight upgrade to it.
Making padded, so probably won’t make the vile this playthrough
Its basically just a jaw bone, which admittedly is probably less ugly than using the head of a Vile. Thats just hideous.
Also I wish all armour did something but then I would rework them all, including popular armor suits, which as the root harnesk
Someone used arrows...
She dies in like 5 mins if you melee her 😁
Thats long fight for mellee. Guess she flew a lot.
the silver sword did a little over half the dmg though id say
It's actually quite nice that there is an alternative to troll armor. Everytime I'd spot troll and watch it for a while I'd see it scratching it's butt and smelling it's fingers soon after. Giving that inner disgust knowing I'm wearing thier hide as clothes
she was in the air a lot yeah
it was probably closer to 15 minutes but my rested almost ran out
Iron mace is still my fav for her.
Bronze Armor -> Wolf
I like the look of iron armor too much to skip it. In fact I would skip wolf armor if I didnt rely so much on defense
Shields aren't armor 😉
TRUE
Shields are all you really need if you never miss a block/parry, or get hit blind.
guess its time i got used to being a farmer now
Scythe my beloved.
actually shit i gotta go find the shit...
Skipped the silver set this time, went straight from iron to padded
im doing root armor into padded lol
I love the padded set
Looks awesome
Padded is probably my second favorite.
shields are better as an offensive tool, mobility is the best way to stay alive
fenris + ratatosk = never die
Full Carapace with no cape is my favorite look in the game currently.
stepping into plains with root armor sounds like a way to get myself killed real fast ey
TWENTY??? did you punch her to death???
I think I will do that more. In your example, iron is = to lvl 1 silver, and that is good enough for the plains.
-# Do i hear somebody is punching dragons? 👀
How To Punch Your Dragon
must have been!
There is a you tube video of that. Took them around an hour.
Maybe 90 minutes or so. Been years since I watched it.
Aaaai noooo I picked up hildir's damn chest through the ceiling, it took so much fidgeting to get that damn thing where I wanted it
Please devs make them placeable!
Like I said, item stand.
sounds like one of the more boring things you can do with an hour. At least pick up boss that can hit you on a slight hill.
They just wanted to see if it could be done. I actually fast forwarded through the whole thing.
I imagine you can punch any boss to them. The question is why don’t you want to have fun instead?
I agree more with you. I would have never done it myself. I spent maybe 5 minutes, they spent an hour plus.
I put it where I wouldn't walk near it, but of course I didn't account for the accursed thing to get sucked through the ceiling...
Just read that vile set doesn't get bonus slash dmg, but Pierce and blunt insteed
Life cant be ever so perfect...
How vile
is there a set that increases slash?
Bear set
Bear.
nice
Bear set, also there is a 5th biome boss power that does +10% damage as well I'm using it as well not just slash all damage
At least one of the trinkets gives a slash bonus. Not sure which one. Definitely a higher activation cost.
I was most recently using Brimstone.
Yep, mistlands trinket, +10% slash, 75 adrenaline cost
10% Slash and 100 Stamina.
Yeah, I think I will use that next time, since I mostly use swords in Mistlands and Ashlands. I'll likely activate it a lot in Ashlands. Even at 100.
Gosh I'm scared of thinking about Mistlands, yet I haven't reached swamps yet
Its Ashlands you should be afraid of.
Game feels really different when you can die once
Meh
Literally walk in a park for me
Mistlands proved to me a lot more difficult than Ashlands
Then Mistlands is an even less dangerous walk in the park. Only the Queen kills me anymore at standard difficulty.
Oh god yes this one
These fat hit boxes and collisions with her
I just killed Queen on normal about 3 times and not a single death I was very surprised haha
And constantly getting pushed away
This time my first death was when I was close to Fader. Then he killed me twice with that ground fire.
Yeah, don't think I have been killed by her the last 3 or 4 times. But the first few times? She killed me at least twice each time.
It's not as much about difficulty of this biom itself, and more about traversing it. And this stupid fog...
I am not a fan of the Mist, even with a wisp.
Welp, the is indeed mist in mistlands 😄
Yeah, we are not supposed to like the Mist.
They definitely succeeded on that. The worst part is when my wife drags me into it before we have wisps, to get the puffs and start a garden.
Do I have to say it again, finding a beautiful area that includes farmland in Mistlands, that is 100% naturally MIST-FREE is one of the highest exploration achievements in the game!
i aint got the gjall to do that
I will agree with you on this, for sure.
it is extremely pretty there though yeah
some people don't know about the mistfree spots
I usually find such areas around or near those bridges.
harder to find when i can't check for it on the map lol
i gotta find the goblin king first though
You can't? Seems like the darker areas in the mist areas match up with being mist free. Coincidence?
hardest boss to find especially if you play solo
I might be doing it wrong then. I’m a fan of the most even without a wisp light
I have enough vision issues naturally. So get annoyed by anythng that makes it even worse.
I am just glad we have things like torches, dvergr circlets and wisps to make it less of an issue for me.
the mist works both ways, you can't see enemies, but they can't see you
sneak can be highly useful in the mistlands
You gotta use your big ears in the mist
they do come in handy
I find the slopes ruin sneaky approaches too often for me
Though in general I like sneak
It’s so hard to go up some slopes when you can’t spring or jump
yag hasn't ever been too hard for me to find
i really like the gigantic structure that shows you he's there though
Why would you bother to make farm in mistlands tho
to farm stuff that only grows there
You can only grow the puffs and mage caps there.
Yep.
yes but only in Mistlands 🙂
Ashlands isn't like that, though. Thankfully.
always been the case since mistlands came out
which is why you build your base on the border of a plains and mistlands, which allows you to build an omnifarm
UGHHHH
casual 860h viking here
-# ik rookie numbers
my Holy grail is an island 100% surrounded by ocean biome, with mistless mistlands and plains on it, and mistlands farmable area and at least 2 roots as well on there, other biomes can be present but only forest and meadows and tiny mountain maybe but mostly plains and ML mistfree, and it has to be not too big not too small LOL haven't found the perfect one yet
Helps our kids moved out years ago.
I mean I have full time job too but I just play other games too. Valheim can't keep me that long on one sitting
Hence I started hardcore run
Its the only game we have ever liked to play together. So we play tons of hours together.
That’s tragic
Meaning computer games.
Good for yall btw, enjoy every hour and moment
yo mr 2600 hours why my chicken not eating pls
Which seeds are you using?
Does it has food?
Carrot seed
Is there a lot of chickens in area?
Maybe
If too much they'll stop laying eggs
Feed them in pairs when you want them to lay eggs.
check as well
Both of them are not eating?
Imo more like definitely, but really it's just too much of them in one spot and they stopped breeding
The ones on the floor are happy and eating and laying eggs though
The ones in the chicken tower not eating
One pair per 10 square meters. Thats my rule.
I've never done a tower, just chicken coops that look like the ones I used on my farm, as much as is possible in game.
Wow 2.6k hours but no chicken tower
One time I built a tower up to the height limit and put chickens on the second highest floor for the giggles
im suprised
I don't need towers for me and my wife. With chickens I just do 4 or 6 pairs in coops.
I only did towers on the servers I ran or played on.
With 7+ people you need them.
They constantly lay eggs.
if you build a tower 10 meters up then the chickens at the top are far enough from the ones on the ground to keep laying
Because they drop far enough to not prevent the next.
How do the eggs drop below
There are videos. Easiest to just watch those.
you put the eggs in a 1x1 box with no floor, when it hatches it stays in place
That’s diabolical, I love it
but any eggs will drop through
You can do similar for boars and wolves.
Lox are just a pain, period.
I just hunt lox. A lot more fun that way too.
I prefer to let my chickens experience grass
Free Run chickens
lol, except you still need to feed them in Valheim.
yo
yo
egg yoke
I look forward to the deep north, even if at first at least it could not have anything after the ending of the game. Am curious what the biome could have, more magic? a ore? New plant? new vine? More/a larger glass window going off of golem drops/the crystal? I don't know, so much possibilities.
It will have ice
To be honest I am unsure if you are joking to telling the truth about a new material to utilize.
It will have sledding, you take your shield and equip it. If there is a slope, then dodge rolling starts you sledding down the hill atop your shield.
(I hope lol)
No not a material I was joking indeed
That is a little bit of a relief to be honest got nervous for a second about being able to build with a new material but only in the deep north or mountains lol.
Biome locked buildings can be a bit annoying. Plants annoy me a little for that reason but it makes sense to a extent. I forget do plants grow/catch up on growth when unrendered then revisited? I think they did?
I'm pretty sure that's what they do otherwise my barley/ mage caps would never grow.
I decree that is no longer the case lol, you must afk at your farms to get anything, peak gameplay.
Would be nice though if while animals stop mating while out of range, the hunger also would pause. As you do somewhat need to stay within range with them or the food would be wasted.
It does - I’ve literally snuck right under a gjall
Mobs need lien of sight to aggro
I read that as beer 😂
What happens if someone somehow reaches 100 skill of sneak for example, then puts on a set of troll armor for +15?
It stops at 100 pretty sure.
I'll need to double check but the bonus as far as I know only adds you up to 100.
God I've been playing on explored map for so long I feel blind trying to just explore
People who play without map in preset are giving me spine chills
Aw would be nice if you could get above 100 skill with training and gear together.
Nothing
All skills cap at 100
Thanks, how did you test that? I assume you know more about cheat stuff than me. I hope eventually though they can tweak it so it is possible to get above 100 with the right gear.
No map isn’t so bad
Just have the sense to leave markers and DON’T go wandering around in areas you haven’t marked off
Especially on mistlands 🤣
THAT is like, the ABSOLUTE worst way to do no map 😂
I often see people in videos making a path with the hoe
Combining that with signposts at splits and such could probably recreate a kind of map.
Maxed out several of my stats with my main character - no difference in damage, stamina reduction, or any other perks from what I’ve seen when using full armor sets with +15 and having no armor set boosts
Thanks me sad then.
How do you manage when you need to sail for a long ass time?
The tree always in the same orientation? I don't know a thing about star mapping, or if they or the sun have a predictable pattern, valheim = flat so I don't know. Though maybe you could also build light houses/towers at various coasts along the way.
I'd rather torture myself with very hard difficulty again but playing with no map
To clarify I haven't played no map myself only seen some videos about or with it. I easily could be missing basic stuff, though personally I don't really want to try no map, I play valheim more as a fun kind of builder game, less a challenge to complete it which I feel no map caters more too.
Towers most likely
What build piece renders the furthest away? or they all the same? I thought stone was sooner than wood but don't know.
A light house is kind of useless if you need to be right next to it for it to become visible/render.
Oak trees
your perspective on the tree changes as though it’s a real giant thing up there. after doing it for a while i can tell where i am and how far i am in what direction from home. there are also constellations you can recognize that dont move, or at least dont move for long enough for my purposes, but that’s only when whatever the tree is doing isn’t helpful, usually the tree is your best resource. if it’s cloudy i just keep going the direction i’m going until i reach wherever, i remember the layout. it’s like driving without a gps for once, you just learn it like people used to do before smart phones.
I never learned to drive partially due to having a anxiety disorder, but other other things mixed in. Though I do dislike the idea of relying on a gps, like what if it fails? you don't have it one day? On top of things just feeling distant when you don't have a mental grasp of how to go there.
and also the sun/moon are always just direct east and west, you can set a build piece to it and always know your cardinal directions with your hammer
you might hate no map then. i still get that feeling “i should have been there by now” every time. but when your dock lights render it’s a beautiful feeling
Yea probably, I don't want a common mission to be increasing my anxiety by a good amount.
My b moving to lfg
For me it might be the building system.
Literally eveyrting but fishing
But that's just me, I hate fishing anywhere and everywhere in any game
hows it going yo
Honestly all the above with combat being top.
The friends we make along the way 😉😏
best ripper enchant for mage build using it to pull?
Combat
Like just using it to pull agro? I guess it doesn’t reallyyyy matter, but optimal would probably be ||lightning (root is useless if you’re just trying to agro, blood is good for sneak attack but only on hp build, lightning is just a bit of extra dmg)||
Blood if you use your summons first to drop your health down.
Otherwise Ling.
Everything, I pretty much swap weapon after every biome
I just try to steer clear of atgeirs and bows because they feel too strong to me
ty, thats kind of how i understood it. do you know if the lightning proc is about the same radius as the sound of impact?
would just using prot staff before pulling be enough of a dmg increase with 2x eitr foods do you think?
Landmark the sides of islands - take note of big structures and build your own “lighthouse” type structures
It’s the only option that works
Do all the sailing slowly and methodically
Would give you a guaranteed bump every shot vs. taking a chance on Ling proc.
On average over infinite shots, no, it would not beat Ling.
Practically speaking though it would probably be better for how you are using it.
Think its a much smaller radius. Will only spark to enemies that are fairly close to the target
But if there's no other enemies nearby the spark will hit the target you shot, which usually is preferable
Fr tho, for your purposes the choice of enchant on the crossbow doesn't matter much
Only meaningful enchant on crossbow imo is if you're running triple hp food and intentionally drop your health down to be order to sneak-one-shot a valkyrie or something
It can be
It depends on how much you like exploring 🥰
If you are playing a mage build, always have your buddy skeletons around and use the 🫧 stav
Unless you have a death wish 😂
That was one great thing about being teamed up with my wife (Among many things, I am not looking forward to soloing there) in Ashlands. As long as we saw them first, we were able to take them out with our bows before they could engage us. Not sure that would work solo. The higher damage of crossbows may be necessary.
Landing not knowing anything felt like landing on the beaches of Normandy lol. I also run solo so I feel ya there.
I've landed enough times now to know where you land can have a huge impact on how well it goes in Ashlands. It always involves at least some combat, and usually a lot of it.
We literally called it that on the beta testing! 🤣
I can promise you guys it is NOWHERE NEAR as bad now
There was a bug that aggroed EvErYtHiNg within a few hundred meters 😂
Did they nerf it? Haven't retried landing/exploring ashlands as much recently
Mistlands is still my favourite biome 🥰
People are babies and don’t understand the concept of “hardcore survival” even though it’s in the name of the game
They did the same to mistlands
You used to have seekers attack you like wolves
Now they ******** around like fulings looking for a place to land 🤣
Mistlands is easy compared to Ashands, imo. This is also after doing both several times, and only beating Fader this last time.
I personally enjoyed it even if it annoyed the hell outta me. Gave a sense of satisfaction when I was actually able to build a base
If that wasn’t the case, I think we’d have a problem on our hands 😂
You and I have very different opinions on the mistlands my guy 😂
Mistlands is a quiet small town compared to the Ashlands.
I absolutely loved it 😍
And as I have continually said and will continue to say, the mists in the mistlands are a BLESSING
It stops you from getting ganked by every seeker and gjall in existence
Plus, as much as I dislike the mists, at least the land isn't pure ugly.
I know from experience cause my original world had some pre-explored mistlands
So no mist - just pure hel
Well it is a swamp lol...
Oops, wrong comment to reply to lol
Yeah, that was frusrating my first time. Even with me having pretty high run and jump. Meads we now have help with that a lot, so I make sure to have plenty of them.
That's why I always get noticed lol
Gjall are easy. At least if you have a decent bow skill. IE 50+ I would say.
Oh, yeah, that would be crippling for sure. I've played this game so much I don't die often any more.
So I usually have 6 or so skills in the 90's by the time I get to Mistlands.
Once ya figure out how things work you die a LOT less. It isn't too hard too keep a skill up
or spear
Arbalest for me
I definitely die a lot less now. I did die a lot my first couple of hundred hours.
I'm a big arbalest fan, though its not the fastest
I like spears specifically for Gjall because you can really spam them as they just drop back down on you and get insta equipped
That one you get in Ashlands is wicked.
Nothing feels as good as blood crossbow sneak shots
Big number make happy people
I don't do blood. I don't get damaged enough to make it worth it.
No summons?
No magic. Pure melee.
Seems like you have yet to discover the power of gravity
That too lol
imo its not really worth dropping your health for sneak shots, but it is a lot of fun
I also ran blood slayer for a while, those secondary attacks hit hard on triple hp food low health
I wear the feathered cape all the way through Ashlands. So no.
Yeah, i usually stick to lightning for main play and blood if I just want to play around and laugh at big numbers
This last time I did lightning and my wife did the green stones.
She did the lightning mace, though.
I want to play around with green more, didn't use them much last time I was in ashlands
So only her bow was green.
My problem is that green benefits from fast attacks, but I feel like the weapons I want to use it on don't have fast attacks
Yeah green bow sounds nice, makes me want to actually use bows
I never saw it wrap anything in vines.
i also used slower weapons, but ripper with vines didn't seem to do too much
Just asked my wife, she says it did, pretty regularly, and she felt it was very helpful.
On valks?
I'm considering lightning slayer. Low attack speed, but hitting multiple enemies at once and doing decent stagger might lead to some very nice synergy with the lightning sparks
Not surprised I missed it with all the fighting we do.
I'll have to give it another try then, been a bit since I used green
I only use jade on spears, axes, and maaaybe bows
It doesn't prevent mobs from rotating, does it?
She said it never did vines on them. It just helped kill them.
It does! 🤣
Ah kk
Which is extremely satisfying popping that on a big mob and slapping them silly 😂
Does sound nice for axes then yea
Damn, makes me wish we had an ashlands dagger(s)
I want blood knife so bad
We still haven't made all the Flametal gear. We probably should, since we still have so many spires on land or adjacent to land, making them easy to mine.
I have terrible luck when it comes to spires, most times I just go after the forts If I need some
It’s so expensive though! 😭
We only have 5 citadels
They have had less than 40 Flametal each so far. So the spires are much more worth while.
Especially with them being on land, or practically on land.
ALL of the spires we have mined so far have not sunk.
I run solo and trying to get the metal before the spire sinks while fending off enemies (looking at you valks) can be difficult for me
Wait what
They didn't sink?
No, they didn't. We assume its because of being on land, or practically being on land.
Pretty sure otherwise two of us mining would trigger sinking.
Heck, a couple of them were half buried in those big rock formations.
We had to clear the rock away first.
... damn alright imma go look over spots I just passed by again. I thought they all just sank
Even if they did, being closer to land has to be better, right?
Since we found so many on land, or connected to land, we have just mined those. We probably still have at least 5 more to do.
My wife says 6 were on land. So the rest were near and connected to land by at least a small piece. At least 10, total. We are pretty sure its a few more than that. I'd have to start up the world and look at our map.
There is a % chance that they sink
You guys got very lucky 😂
That or being on land changes how they sink. To not sinking at all.
Pretty sure that would be classified as a bug - it’s not a feature the dev’s built in 🥰
Very handy one I might say 🤩
I have no doubt about that. I'm not telling them.
Ashlands sucks too much as it is, imo.
I'm a fan of ashlands as it is, aside for some boring fort designs
I hate it. Only biome I hate.
#create dungeons in the ashlands forts
That would be epic! 🤩
I’m sure someone can mod that in - just copy/paste the dverger dungeon designs but make the seeker gunk lava
Taking the forts are reasonably challenging as it is.
So we need to fight charred warriors without moving
And Odin’s beard, STOP PLAYERS FROM NERD POLING INTO THE FORTS! 😂
Especially since everything around you is trying to kill you at the same time.
Just make a bigger magic aura radius until you break those little green bell holders
You’re doing it wrong then 😂
Nerd poling?
Play mage and bomb everything 😂
Building into the forts using wooden platforms
I stay pure melee.
Was very easy too - Bonemass and kill everything 😂
ITs a little harder with bows.
The whole issue was the building into the fort
Stop that and require people to use the bloody siege engines!
Please!!! 😭😭😭
Why? Its a time honored method in real life. How do you think they took castles?
Throw rocks at it - batter the gates!
I know you can do ladders but come on! 😂
Ladders being so much easier to use than the siege engines just reduces the engines to useless
I was told its better to keep the gates intact. Even though we don't use the citadels for anything after we clear them out. We just leave portals inside them, just in case.
I mean, if you use ladders you can turn the forts into an impregnable base
Exactly!
You have a perfectly safe place in the Ashlands with that
I don’t like it 😭
Nothing other than a valkarie can touch you in there
I hate the biome, so zero interest in building a base there. I hate just being there.
I have at least built bases in Mistlands.
I’ll send pic of my base - it’s a beautiful little place in ashlands
Its impossible to be beautiful in the Ashlands.
I have a mistlands base as well - definitely my favourite spot in the game 🤩
Zero appeal in the Ashlands. At least to me.
my mistlands base 🥰
You have to find the right spot to build - took me forever honestly 😂
Now that looks very appealing.
Far nicer than any I have ever built. I always suck at the aesthetics.
Just think of box shapes, and thats what I build.
Did they change the sail shape on the Drakkar? I could have sworn it was rectangular the last time I built one.
I'm glad if they did, since I also remember feeling blinded by it.
Much more open visuals now.
What does it look like now? am curious if it functions like it should if the sail is a triangle
They did change it
Its triangular now. Think its called a fore sail? Not sure. Been a long time since I have studied sails, shapes, and their names.
Does it benefit more from side winds than the other boat types? I heard that with triangle sails they benefit from a larger variety of wind directions instead of just the back.
The thing still seems slow, so I'd guess thats a no.
Why did I only find this out after my friend who knows more about boat sails went on vacation lol. I would want to put together a suggestion otherwise, especially since it could make that boat more useful as while slower, you could still maintain speed in a larger variety of wind directions making up for it partially.
I used to know them, but that was when I was a kid, and I am an old man now.
Think I was last on a sail boat when I was 15 or 16.
Well I hope it is correct that a triangle sale can benefit from wind coming from a larger variety of directions, with its best push being from the sides instead of the back. Could really give the Drakker more utility for when consistency is valued so it gets used more than largely just to enter the ashlands.
Long boat = faster, Drakker = consistent, well and bigger with a larger capacity which can be eh as you rarely need to use that much.
You can be a lot less concerned about the normal serpent, though. It barely damages it.
I guess, to be honest that serpent rarely causes me trouble, often we just say hi for a little bit.
Well, with the later bows, you kill it pretty fast too.
Maybe I decide they look tasty but in most cases I just go along with it following a short bit before giving up.
They are a good food, once you can make it. Which used to be as soon as you could kill them. Now you have to have the iron hooks.
Yea just I feel they alone don’t really encourage using the drakker. I would like to use it more but largely don’t need to or the long boat can do the same thing faster.
It is why I got excited about the idea of giving it a unique driving system based off its triangle sail. Where it can go its top speed more consistently than other boats.
Yeah, I won't use it again if I don't have to.
I still use the Karve for general exploring. Just because it easier to get through a lot of rocks, and thru rivers.
The long boat has plenty of storage for any metals I need to transport.
Being able to see is already a pretty good benefit for the triangle shaped sail.
I use karve for fishing, longboat for exploring, drakkar for….
Visuals 🤣
It’s to BIIIIG!!! 😂
I fish the cool way
I go to this mountain cave that has a tetra pool that always has 20 or so beached tetra
There are no sea serpents in the mountains my guy 😅
Only if you don't believe
My favourite moment was on a new character and I was just off shore of the black forest catching some trolls 😂
Then, behold, a serpent pops up just behind me and scared the shit out of me! 🤣
You should have gotten the trolls to get you some easy serpent stew
Do tasty meads work while standing still encumbered
Being encumbered prevents stamina regen so no.
Stamina mead works tho.
Unless they have changed it in the years since I last had to use it this way, they do work when your drowning. Or was it just before you start to drown? Pretty sure it was after I started to drown.
Just in case you ever need to know that.
Are you sure you’re not thinking of a stamina mead? You can’t regenerate stamina while swimming.
Tasty mead increases stamina regen, stamina meads give you stamina directly
Pretty sure it was a tasty mead. It may have been a minor stamina mead.
It was in early game, so not sure what I was able to make.
As huge as it is, I don't think it would have been out of line to give it more than it has.
Yeah, it requires stamina regenerating for tasty to work.
It has more than Longship.
IIRC as much as black metal chest.
Longship has 18 which equals with how much cart has.
Still seems small for how huge that thing is.
Yeah, I used to think the long boat was bad. Drakkar makes it seem nimble.
Even though I think they have improved that too. It seemed to go through the spires easier this time.
As long as you don't let a Morgen roll through them.
I imagine an Askvin could eventually break through too, as well as a Valkyrie.
It is, as long as you have a good group. Or at least a good partner. I'm not looking forward to soloing Ashlands.
Viking D-day is my favorite time
I initially use raised earth walls. Those still hold up great. Lava Blobs can damage them, though.
I imagine if 3 or 4 hit the same part, it would actually take it down, at least mostly.
is there a section for modding errors?
Valheim is always better with friends 🥰
Am wondering is the Voyage of Hervor series like a kind of cinimatic way to show what is coming? am a little confused I guess what it is.
Simply a way to let us see tiny pieces of DN in a form of a story about Hervor.
Is Hervor a character in the lore? I think I recall someone writing the tablets but forget.
Kinda? Similar to other characters from the other trailers. No mention directly in game.
Hervor is directly in the game? how? I just don't know who she is.
I just said there Is no mention od her or the other trailer characters in game...
oh I misread somehow
The ones writing runestones that we know by name are Ulf, Astrid, Björn, Harald and Gudrun
can you kill minibosses multiple times?
||killing them unlocks raids that they lead||
ah thank you!
I vote for valheim add pizza lol. My sleep schedule is all over the place to clarify/explain my random message.
Through something like corn might be nice, a tall dense plant you can hide in, both useful but also could be fun to build corn mazes.
Adding new foods could be a good way to utilize earlier foods late game, where you make a recipe of a late game crop and early game crop or meat together.
Im assuming they want only old-world foods
I guess, maybe just something similar to corn in appearance. Well as in being tall and planted dense.
Like pineapples
🤣
Sorry I am not knowledgable on crops, I don't get the joke.
The way I absolutely cringe when folks suggest New World crops like tomatoes, potatoes, pumpkins.... 😬
Add bottle gourds
It’s just an incredibly dumb response for the meme
Don’t mind me 🥰
Np
I just want a plant that is dense and you can hide or/and build mazes out of.
Certain crops - quite ubiquitous and common in the modern era - originated in the Americas and would have had no place in a Viking-era game
I feel like the ship sailed with barley sadly
Make up a new plant for magic usage? or something? the game has made up plants before plus could look super pretty.
Well unsure about magic usage, limited to specific biomes is eh to me for something to enhance builds.
I know there's a mod that has hedges in it. I don't know its name though
Probably several
I wonder what kind of stamina food with pop up in deep north
More magical plants or maybe another real world crop
|| seal jerky ||
There are some bushes in Plains that would be nice to have planteable, to make pretty gardens

I feel like it would be nice if most or all plants could be planted in a balanced way, I have seen people play with mods that allow it and they can make super pretty builds.
Mushrooms could have a interesting unique farming mechanic or structure I think.
If anything, I would expect us to find seeds that we can plant in warmer climates, like onion seeds in the mountains.
Or some disgusting lichens in the dungeons
I personally hope for something more interesting that is worked into the environment.
Valheim cookbook
Human intestine saussge
Lichen sandwich
I remember seeing something but was unable to find it again, or well a good screenshot, does the deep north have ||a larger varient of trolls/a giant||?
Yeah, I have been using the yellow shrooms on items stands to make lighted walkways etc, works well. I don't think the berrybushes (and other gathered things you can't plant now) should be planteable though, that would totally alter resource gathering that has worked fine for years. If people want to mod into that it's their choice, but it should stay as is in vanilla imo.
I wish more people saw it this way for games in general
I am confused you mention mushrooms being nice and such but then go to saying all that shouldn't be vanilla.
I mean my concern is balancing, I personally find taking trips to a bunch of different places for one ingediant to get boring quickly. Well at least if there is not ever a way to localize stuff.
Mushrooms is a resource/ingredient you gather - I think these should not be plantable if they aren't today. However, bushes etc that would help with landscaping would be really nice for making pretty builds - and would not alter resource gathering balance.
Mentioning the yellow shroom in particular was kind of a mind fart, but my above sentence should be clearer what I mean.. 😄
I used it as a build piece which was a fun way to use it, and I hope we get some more bushes and so on to work with for pure decoration purposes.
Personally for me as long as it is balanced, I would rather you be able to plant those items, probably would take some effort though. Like getting berry bush seeds wouldn't be that easy with the bush itself being just one step or something. A goal of you still enjoying when you stumble upon stuff.
That's the way they went with the vineberries in Ashlands, so who knows?
I enjoy those vineberries, good for decoration too, and nice to not have to go to the ashlands for a routine dinner, could be nice once, maybe a few times, but after a dozen? eh.
Would be nice in my opinion if they eventually updated ivy and vineberries to interact more with your structures, less of being a 2d surface on top of your stuff, more of wrapping around it.
Like wrapping around a pillar covering it in leaves or/and travelling across it to something else.
Could require a fertiliser bought from the bog witch, unlocked after a certain boss kill for example. Makes the gathering have its significance earlier on, but needing to portal hop through BF to gather more blueberries could be avoided. It's a thought, nothing I think is super important, but it would be a way.
I did think about the concept of if you want to plant things like bushes or mushrooms you need types of fertilizer. Plus I can prefer having to deal with stuff early on, my issue is when through progression a problem never gets solved, I can enjoy problems or challenges in games that eventually get solutions, but they turn more into annoyances when there isn't ever a solution.
Also another gold sink, those coins could have more use besides decoration. Got a vault full of gold all over the floor now
One of the feasts is pretty good for getting magic without trading a huge amount of health and such.
Oh 2 are, just well don't really get the last one and need it anymore lol
Different grades/qualities of fertilizer from each boss 😹 Deer dung, charcoal, bone meal, dragon dung, enhanced bone meal, ...uh...something bug-related? And whatever DN gets.
I personally was thinking like 1 or 2 types of fertilizer late game that can be kind of generalized to several different plants.
Can the deep north get blue mushrooms? that might be nice aesthetically. For its dungeons mainly. Kind of glowy like yellow ones, unsure what they could give or be used for as I am pretty open to whatever.
Doesn't the mistlands get blue mushrooms
There are ||the blue magecap mushrooms in Mistlands|| but actual blue mushrooms like the red & yellow ones only exist in dev commands
But I do like the fertilizer thing later in the game for if you want to be able to stop gathering and plant some more stuff at your base for function and decorative purposes, late enough that gathering is still a big part, expensive enough that it isn't super easy to remove any interest in gathering.
Am wondering will the deep north get its own feast? I thought you had to defeat bosses to get them. I am unsure what the plan is with that biome.
Oh so a model and texture does exist? or it like changing the rgb values on a other model?
Am pretty sure they'll make those announcements coming into the official release.
I know, me not patient lol.
I'd be weird to not have a feast for only 1 biome
I would also be disappointed if not. Especially when that is the point where feasts stats are getting very good for all around, mainly the magic one. Having a 3rd option for that would be nice.
Plus it would then be possible to eat the last 3 feasts together for funny stats.
I also just would hope the model is very pretty, can be nice to just use feasts as table decorations.
Oh yes, every table in my feast hall is jammed full of feasts, tankards, meads and pretty much every meal in the game. Serving platter best addition EVAH!!!
The amount of bronze nails and fine wood I saved from this thing 🤣
When I get to the plains im gonna make a cool dining hall
I already made when I got iron in my co-op world. 🤌
Nice
Personally I think the plains look like the best permanent settlement area imo
Just when I get tar I replace the roof and when getting black marble I replace the stone parts.
Why iron though jw
Iron wood poles and iron cage pieces have the best support in game, they can support much higher than corewood and can hold up stone buildings with no problems.
Oh that
I also made basement partially underground and the first floor with stone pieces, which look nice.
I'm not crazy about building with black marble, I use it for some details and highlights. Anyway here's the hall: #screenshots message
Dang it illumination from dvergr lanterns is really bad, I think I have to swap back to sconces in this room
Cool hall none the less
Tell that to my mistlands base
And remind me to share my Ashland’s home later
Good looking place!
Yeah, it is one of the best places to setup a good base 🥰
Plains is definitely the best for growing food
YES 🤣
I spawn proofed the entire valley 😂
Cause one morning I woke up, walked out of my bedroom, and came face to face with a gjall 😂
With
Workbenches
🤣
I put the workbenches in a little hut, so they don’t get damaged
Lots of wood needed for this - but I don’t like using campfires
Not really.
I just have stone portals at bases where I know I have to fetch non-portable materials
So my main base and any essential sub bases
I just realized ive got portal metal on but ive yet to portal any metal 👼
Hahaha fishing on 3x stamina foods and a two-star troll comes along
Good thing I had stamina enough to run in circles around him, one hit would have been enough for a humiliating death

Bob & weave!!
When RNG decides to mess up with you bit more than usual.
What about setting up some ballistas for free drops and the sweet sound of crying Gjall?
I could, I just couldn’t be bothered 😂
I'm kind of curious, what trinkets are everyone running throughout the various stages of the game?
Bronze pendant like 90% of the time
Earrings for mistlands
Then jormundling for endgame cause mage
That pendant is just so damned good I can’t think of a reason to take it off
I need to buy valheim. When will it give discounts ?
I'd guess probably for christmas
Jormundling does seem pretty insane. I'm not a big bronze pendant fan myself, prefer iron heart
Evasion mantle seems pretty good for higher difficulty, definitely wanna give that one a go, and I feel like crystal heart would be nice in Ashlands
For my playstyle though, fins of destiny is kinda nuts in swamp and especially mistlands. Actually huge value for me
Despite how bad people consider them to be
Oh I can get behind that 🥰
The reason I do the pendant is it’s easy to pop, boosts the most important stat (for me) and I gain the benefit of it for essentially forever
Iron pendant is also good for pure armor boosts
I just don’t like items cost or that it’s temp as a buff (get used to having more armor than you actually do and woops) 😂
I think they are VERY slept on
I’m going to use them in a new playthrough 🥰
And jormundling is VERY good! ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Most OP trinket in the game in my opinion
I'd agree
I think particularly in Ashlands a lot of trinkets get more use because you can get past their huge adrenaline requirement
I wear the earrings since I play a mage but honestly I’ve never managed to get my adrenaline meter full
I’d imagine staff of frost stacks up adrenaline fairly quick. Especially if you ensure to use a single shot here and there to stop your adrenaline from depleting between barrages
frost is good - fragemnt staff is too
Who all has gotten an annoying boss spawn before
Annoying to get to, or annoying to fight at? In either case, I have
Yes and Yes 🤣
I had an elder spawn that was right near the Plains border. The ensuing fight drew the little savages like moths to a flame
My yag fight was on the Mistlands border, had seekers coming to check what all the noise was about, a few times.
Half his fingers was in the zone where the mist comes and goes, was very annoying when I ended up there and turned so suddenly everything was just mist. Yag tends to burp out stuff that hurts, you want to see what he's up to.
That would suck, but at least your in gear meant for the Mistlands.
I've fought the Elder on the edge of the plains a couple of times. Its when I learned how easy it is to kill fulings and squittos in BF gear.
Easy to kill, easy to get killed by
But that second part can be alleviated by just using ranged weapons or atgeir
enemies won't attack campfires, but they can be trampled, I prefer them
You can bury them, but then they can spontaneously break. Or at least they used to. Been years since I have done builds where I wanted to hide spawn blockers.
They break if you raise the ground above their highest point, since they are then not connected to the ground and are "floating" under the ground layer 🙂
That would explain why a bench I have mostly buried due to raising ground to place my 5 ovens hasn't broke. The high point on its back side is still exposed.
I have throu 4 burial chambers hoping tk get a new elder spot but on my map preview on the generator its like 2 islands east from spawn n my base is already 3 islands to the southwest
There are multiple sites possible, so depending on where on your map you go through burial sites, will change which location you even get.
Yea but all 4 have marked the same spot
Then that spot is closest to all 4 chambers.
