i wanna fish with bow and spears
I feel Im gonna fit right in this community
Any suggestions for Ashland early weapons
Silver sword is going well against the Charred.
Spinebreaker and the Arbalest do well against the Voltures.
As for magic: the bubble, fire and frost staff are your best weapons.
Oh is the himminafl any good in ashland
I've never used that weapon, so I won't know.
But anything doing pierce damage isn't doing that well in the ashlands, as the most annoying creatures are resistant or neutral to it.
The advantage Spinesnap and the Silver sword (and Frostner) have, is that they're doing spirit damage; which helps a lot.
Bears look gnarly
Depending at how large you want it to be and whether or not you have access to bronze:
Build two 2x2m wooden parts on top of each other. Build one 1x2m wooden part next to that, with another pair of 2x2m on top of that next to it.
Build the shutters at the outside of the 1x2m parts, with the small poles touching the 2x2m
Build two shutters on top of each other.
Close the top part with another 1x2m.
You can open the shutters separately to let light in, if you like and close them for the night.
Later when you get into the mountains, you can find something that will give you the ability to build "glass"; which you can add into that wall.
Another option to use instead of the shutters would be to build a door over the 1x2m bottom part.
That way you can't get through it, but when you open the door, it feels as if the window is open.
However, to me that option doesn't look as "beautiful" as when using shutters, even though you would need to open four shutters compared to one door.
Really just a utility weapon for staggering and the little bit of lightning damage
Lightning damage adds to stagger, so it's neat and still staggers most mobs with the secondary attack.
not even halfway close to getting actual black metal weapons and im getting raided by fullings
genuinely so unbalanced
You won't have new biome stuff when entering that biome at first, and the raids are unlocked when you pop the boss of the biome you are leaving. Recurring pattern, something you need to plan for throughout the game.
Hey, free black metal delivery to your base!
that would pretty nice if shamans didnt exist
chickens dont eat thistle right
so basically i have to suffer even though i dont have the biome's gear
noted
Nope. They only eat barley, carrot seeds, turnip seeds.
Not thistle, but dandelions.
a shame, ive got plenty of thistle that i dont need anymore
Tree seeds other than acorns, pine and fir cones.
Onion seeds may be possible too; but I never tried those.
Usualy I got loads of turnip and carrot seeds and barley available by the time I got the eggs.
They eat onion seeds too.
sorry for my questions about what each thing eats i always forget and im often unsure π
fantastic, i recently planted too many onion seeds
Is it possible to bring ||dvergers|| all the way back to spawn using boats?
From memory:
- Boars: mushrooms (not yellow), raspberries, blueberries, carrots, turnips, onions
- Hens: carrot/turnip/onion seeds, beech/birch seeds, barley, dandelions
- Wolves: neck tails, boar/deer/lox/chicken meat, sausages
- Lox: barley, flax, cloudberries.
WOLVES EAT SASUAGES? this changes everything......
also i tried flax with lox and they dont :(
I doubt they would stay on the boat. But if you aggro one, you might trick him to swim after you all the way back. But then he'd keep trying to kill you rather than hang about the stones.
They should eat flax.
hmm.. thats weird.. will recheck again later
oh wiki says they do... must be a fault on my side
Maybe it ate something already? They can easily eat cloudberries that were left on ground.
Trying to find ways to bring them back to spawn for a mini dwarven village build
Nope.
They're neutral to you at best.
Meaning they fight the same enemies as you do when it's needed.
And they will fight you when you do something they don't like.
It would be easier to just spawn in a couple with dev commands methinks
you can push them onto the ship with a tower shield perhaps
No need to have shield to push them.
makes it somewhat easier

or turn ff on and use the harpoon
Pretty sure that makes them angry though..
ah for dvergers yeah don't attack them
Is there a chimney
Nope, but you can create it yourself.
How tho
If i just leave a hole in the roof then rain pours trough and fire is gone
put a roof on the hole
Raised roof section above the fire
raise it with pillars snd put a roof of the roof where the hole is so that the roof has a roof
reeeeeeeee
Will smoke go trough?
One option is to use the 2m standing wooden beams at each corner of the hole.
Then you can put the roof closing piece (the one looking like an upside down "V") on top of it.
Another option is to leave a 2 roof piece gap and build a 2x2m wooden wall at the sides. Close one side off with a roof piece, but make certain it won't touch the other side. Usually the 45Β° roof pieces are good for that.
Roof do the roof
use brain
#building-ideas message here's a helpful visual, look at the top center of this roof

In general the only limitation when it comes to building in this game is your imagination.
When you start, it doesn't have to look beautiful. Just make certain it's functional.
Over time you will learn to combine beauty and functionality.
Which means you can even build the fire outside your house, put a roof over it and it'll work.
Put your bed at the other side of the wall, put a roof over it so it isn't exposed and you will be able to sleep there.
Does it look nice?
I don't think so, but others may have a different opinion.
Does it work as intended?
It certainly does. Although even about that others may have a different opinion.
good thing they spawn so often, so it's easier to farm crystals π (and their trophy, if you really want it)
game is sending you free crystal
no thanks
but they're relatively easy to avoid, all things considered
and you could even ride on top of them and start pickaxing away
1-2 are fine but like 5-6 per every 10min is insane
they are relatively easy to kill with pickaxes
easier, not generally easy
I mean, all mobs are easy to kill once you know their attack patterns, so that sentence can't really be used as an argument
wrong
it takes me roughly 10 seconds to kill a golem with iron gear...
Golems are tanky, it gets easier but dealing with so many in such short intervals is not fun it takes too long to kill em
but I was dying left and right at first
with cheats probably lol because aint no way
it takes longer if they don't attack me, actually
show me for 10 seconds with iron gear you killing it
because I can parry them and deal almost half health of damage by the time the stagger wears off
For real golems arent as tough as you think they are
if you play on very easy .. they are easy
dont get me wrong id probably hate having to deal with one every minutes or so, but they arent that hard
I play on Hard...
bs
and technically I lied, since I was using the silver shield, so you're right, it's not entirely iron gear
but I was using the iron mace, since the porcupine doesn't really help
ok now you're talking out of your ass, mace against the golem dealing more dmg than the pickaxe?
I think you mixed up greydwarves with golems
smh
time-wise, yes it does
10 seconds with a iron mace yeah sure
I can only say "git gud" I guess
I still get my ass kicked by all the stuff I'm still not used to, but golems have literally two attacks (three, depending on the golem)
eat health food and parry
I kill all the bosses in 5 seconds on hard with meadows gear lol
they are actually "weak" to blunt damage. I didnt know that
And by weak I mean not resistant like pretty much all other damage types
Their population is more dense than anything other than drakes on the mountain which is pretty stupid
I'm just saying that a golem shouldnt appear every 5 min on a mountain
Entering the mountain you wouldn't expect 50% of your fights to be with the actual mountain itself
it has a cooldown of 10 minutes
EXACTLY! I expect drakes, wolves no problem
Also I think that if you dont kill the golem, it stays there
well tell them that because I shit you not, it's been less than 5 min since i killed 1 and another 5 min before that
Running into several golems back to back across a few minutes just wastes my sanity
every mob stays where it is, once spawned
it just spawned from the same spot too
there is a limit of 1 golem per chunk, I believe? but if you're adjacent to many full mountain biome chunks one will try to spawn every 2 minutes
Well, put a campfire on that spot. It shouldnt spawn anymore.
and they so happen to have rought 1/4 of chance to spawn every 2 minutes, so yeah...
Sejiro you dont understand, the golems were spawning more and faster than the wolves or drakes
To be fair I am used to high mob density from beta client ashlands but at least it had variety
I also heard something about silver veins contributing to their spawn or something? Don't quote me on that
on my map it's a big island with at least 5 mountains, often bunched up by 2 not too far
when i have to mine 2 silver veins close to each other and i have to kill 5 golems, thats not right
You touched their rocks
imagine a golem raid
is there somebody to start a new char with and progress in the game
Considering they're resistant to pierce, having a load of Ballistae at your walls won't help much.
On the other hand, there's a reason I build my bases on an island.....
Have you tried looking in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510?
There's often someone in there who might.
bonemaw raid
Still wouldn't be as annoying as the bat one
Every time there's that one bat who I couldn't find that comes and bites my ass 3 days later while I'm doing something completely different
Won't do me much either.
I'm making certain I got the entire area spawn proof.
So far the only thing being able to enter my base are bats, drakes and the occasional wraith.
For anything else I got a leech moat (base is a plains island bordering the swamps at one side) who deal with anything but the swamp raid for me.
After Moder is dealt with Im not stepping on a mountain in this playtrough, never had I even had so many golems spawn, before it was one or two per trip
If you reset world modifiers, do you reset the settings only? i have to double check this
I cant even remember i used custom modifiers on my OG save
hoping we get new normal building pieces and DEFENSE pieces for bases in 1.0 update
so i can turn raids on one day
Discord link keeps taking me here for runeheim am I here?? Lol
@wicked snow https://drive.google.com/file/d/1FwMUlSpyYj-lHvJY_Z01Jgq6Ggom9xyG/view?usp=sharing
I lied, it takes 20 seconds, not 10 on Hard (you can do the math on the rested counter).
If you have better health food or a stronger shield you don't get stagger yourself, allowing you to dish more damage more quickly.
Considering my food wasn't maxed out (I was missing almost 10 minutes of it), you may even not be staggered with that food combo. If you add another health food you don't get staggered, but you might not have enough stamina to hit the golem as many times while it's staggered. I can post my world settings in #screenshots if you want.
damn it, i need to dig just 1m more for my basement but that last meter is water
is there anyway to drain it or something π
(and strangely, it took me that long to find a golem... the irony of not finding what you want right when you're looking for it...)
there is no way to drain water
π well atleast it's only gonna be used for storage so it doesn't have to be pixel perfect..
also notice that I'm avoiding the big smash it does with both arms, since that one is definitely un-parryable with that setup, and I'm willing to bet you can't parry even its normal attack on Very Hard (should try on my next playthrough). I'm sure I can easily parry even the stronger attack with plains food/gear, since I've went on a golem hunt not too long ago for the trophy (and a chest full of crystals)
Why drain if you can raise it by 2 meters?
it's too late for me to start terraforming now π
i would've preferred 4m tall basement, but 3m is fine
I love valheim π
Oh I've been there. Digging a basement in an existing house and realising I built too close to the sea to have a basement in the first place. Oh darn... Well, at least I could hide some of the workbench/forge upgrades that litter the floor otherwise!
If ive planned it out I typically build the bottom room layout first, If I know I wanna basement. But kinda hard to tell if youve already built the top part
Man building never gets old, so many possibilities even with the limitations. Lmao I started out with a nice hut, and its grew to a whole compound. Sorta got a building for every amenity
I built some kind of cathedral
One time I built a really tall tower that went as high as you could go with raised terrain and iron beams
But at the base there was a lore stone or whatever theyβre called jutting out of the stairs to the tower
I learned to pretend it didnβt exist
how can i make my hammer go from building to repairing
choose the hammer icon after you right click the building hammer
"equip" the hammer, bring up the building panel and "scroll" to the top left of that screen until you're over the hammer icon.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
You can repair the hammer when having a workbench with a roof over it.
Click at the workbench, and to the right of the screen is the list with the items to craft.
Click at the hammer symbol to the left of that list and you will be able to repair all items you have previously crafted in your inventory or at that workbench.
Later when you get other crafting stations it works the same for items you craft in there.
Meaning at some point you will be moving around between two - three crafting stations to repair your outfit / weapons / tools.
how do i stop the decay of cooked meat
You will hear a loud "hiss" when it's ready.
When you keep the pointer over the cooking spit you will also see that you're able to pick it up.
Do so and it will move in your inventory / drop close to the fire.
After that you will be able to put new items on the cooking spit.
It might take some practice, but once you know when the right signal triggers you won't miss one again.
i know but
how can i store the cooked meat
without it decaying
or does it not do that
You can store it in any chest.
And food won't decay in your inventory.
Actually, it won't decay at all. Even if you drop it on the ground.
Just make sure that when you do that, you do it near a workbench.
thing is it has like a red fork next to it, made me think the food can decay
No.
The colours of the fork mean if they're mainly adding to your HP (red), stamina (yellow) or both (white).
made me think decay mb
NP.
And Blue/Purple for spicy.
That comes a wee bit later though
radioactive food
Bukeperries + Rotten Meat + Magic Shroom = Magical Damaging Vomit when?
Puke all over your enemies for massive poison damage!
lol my copper ore just got sucked up by my furnace 20 mins of work gone
π π Nice! Doing a new solo play through, and got a bear trophy on my first kill. Gott love RNG!
Heh, would love to see Scales attempting "puke only" challenge xD
Bugger. When I was fighting a two-star fuling the rest of his gang descended on my longship and hacked it to pieces. Nails sunk out of reach.
Always irritting. Not as irritating s it used to be, since I make sure to get a ton of iron, but still...
I built a long-ass pier to be able to leave the boat nearly out of render range from the beach, nothing has ever bothered it out there until now. Don't really understand why they went for the boat and not me tbh
They are supposed to target you, as long as your reachable. I've found that to be far from always true.
Ugh, guess I'll have to start chopping the boat up again. I hate doing that
Technically a ton of iron is only 3β stacks
So what is a full iron chest?
Do the math
I wanted you to do it. π
If I could at least craft Blackmetal nails to build my ship, then the whole incident would have been profitable. His gang netted me 16 black metal
=3 ton
Iron has how many slots? 24?
YAY I GOT THE NAILS, took a few jumps and nearly drowning, but apparently they were just within reach
Good job
It is surprising how deep you can get by jumping off of ladders.
Right, off to build my shroom farm. It's far enough from my main base that I should set up for repairs and rest, probably a bed to so any unfortunate mishaps in the mists don't become to much of an adventure. Now, for a plains tier repair station, what is enough? Forge lvl 4 and Workbench lvl 2? It's a long enough journey that I don't want to forget something...
Wisplights, gods I almost forgot to bring wisps!
has anyone gotten on the bottom of ocean?
with some bug or mods? i wonder how deep ocean is
Not that deep, and freefly command does the trick π
#screenshots wink wink π
With gizmo you can plant trees a little off
Just normal weird generation π can happen
Just emerged from my Hildir portal to find both a bear and a lox hanging out nearby. Tempted to try to kite one to the other and see what happens...
hello! are frost arrows useful? got a lot of freeze glands and im unsure with what to do with em, currently using the mosquito arrows
was wondering if they were a better investment than eyescream, since im currently in the mountains/pre boss plains
They are actually better than the needle arrows for most enemies, especially in the biome after plains π but needle arrows are just really easy to get
so its worth using them freeze glands for arrows, and just sticking with onion soups for stamina?
I just use needle arrows π but you do you, other than arrows and the eyescream you sont really use them for much
i think i used frost arrows in mistlands
not sure if they are good or bad in there, seemed fine
Better than needle ones due to enemy resistances π
eyescream seemed bit too expensive as there are other food options
aight awesome, will use them for arrows then since yk, eyescream is slightly better than onion soup and ive got like 400 onions
thanks y'all cheers!
π₯
Nope, sadly you loose some
so how do i safely remove 1 without killing the other
You punch it, or you can use the axe secondary, you can aim pretty well with that
You're the Puncher Of Drakes, not the Puncher Of Plants!
You would be surprised how many problems can be solved with a well placed punch
I wish the game didnt let me plant stuff where it cant grow, the same way that it prevents me from building crafting upgrades too close to each others.
It just takes a bit of practice π
there really no bear meat recipes?
Nope, but it is already great hp food π
Hopefully some will come eventually tho, even if it would be further in progression
Only cooked bear meat.
I wish there was a modular cooking system where we mix stuff to create recipes
That way we could have done things with that bear meat
Could also just stay like Bonemaw Meat and have great stats without needing a recipe.
Bonemaw may also gain a recipe π but currently they are in the same situation indeed
The situation for both being "perfectly fine" imo π€·ββοΈ
Bear meat fills the niche left by cooked fish when it left Black Forest tier
I just think its a shame that at some point we just leave all these "old" foods behind without any way to work with them
I am not saying the situation is bad π I am very much content with how it is now
I should just shove all that in the obliterator but it feels like a waste.
If it was food-specific I would support your position.
But we leave old everything behind per biome.
^ They change that, then they had better change the foodstuffs too.
Remind me, can bear meat be used to feed wolves? π€
That aint true, we still have use for bronze, and copper, and iron, and wood, and all that
We do leave behind the tools we made back then, but its not like the materials needed to make that tool is entirely devoid of uses.
I just wish we could do deer stew but with cloudberries instead of blueberries, you know?
Bear pies
Get rid of lox entirely, and replace all relevant recipes with bear meat
They would need to completely rewrite a new system where every base edible components has its own stats.
And then when you cook you pick your primary, secondary, and tertiary components - stat allocation being on which order what things were slotted in.
And then you'd need to have a final product name for every single combination possible.
Oh im sure something can be done, but yeah they'd need to remake it all. I just wish it was that.
Might be a silly Question, but after they release 1.0 and do deep north. Any plans for future dlc to expand even further?
I mean, if corekeeper can do it, im sure valheim could
Hmm... Found the spot for my next base/build, but struggling to come up with a building layout. Slightly sloped meadow, can fit a rectangular building on one of the "levels" but more interesting shapes would be tricky.
No more biomes. Most likely just balance (LOL) and bug fixing.
I also wish there was an actual ocean biome, with diving action
okie dokie. π
Eeeh, diving is pretty much off the table unless they decide to totally redo water, which... is really not likely...
Lot more opportunity above the water imo, even for ocean content π€
why not? They just need to populate the floor with coral, rocks, seashells and a kraken
charybdis if you want a little jumpscare
Water currently is just a sheet thats given movement basically, you need a lot more than that for underwater stuff
Im not super convinced it would be too difficult. Im just thinking of having a weird diving button like in Ocarina Of Time.
Look man, I just wanna go get them scales that I keep missing.
Ironically I dont need these scales, I have my shield already, and I dont even use it.
Iβm thinking more in terms of Wind Waker, canβt even dive in that Zelda game yet thereβs lots of ocean content π
is there a meme channel? VInnyboy post just reminded me of a funny themed meme
cheers just posted in there
it was so on brand i couldn't help myself. now it's confirmed they been to space Irongate should add it xD
moon
dust. a lot of dust
random piles of dust lying around that go into your inventory as you're wandering
not being able to take ores through portals could be a lil tricky with the moon
maximum stack 50
lmfao
would be cool to have moonstone for decorating
like, the pretty shiny gem
for ores instead of mining them you have to gather dust and then compress it with the obliterator to make (what's a dust themed metal?)
I would use the press to compress stuff instead of the obliterator
oh that must be a new item since I played last
perfect!
can't wait for haunted skydustball expac
New player here, just beat the first boss and wondering if I should abandon my house in meadows as I start to progress into further biomes?
It's on the water edge and close to the 2nd biome dark forest or something
@karmic hill You can keep it, if you want. building materials are not exactly in short supply and there's nothing stopping you from coming back to it later. I'm still in a meadows base in my current playthough and I've progressed to the fifth biome.
I like to turn my first base into a farm/ranch later on. You'll understand what that means as you progress into the second biome.
no food left, had to land because serpent was about to destroy my ship and who was waiting for me? nice 1 star troll that 1shotted me with his log π
failed the dodge roll in panic π
Hmm haven't played valheim in a while
me neither jus got back into it with the mods and its fireeeee
Im just gonna continue making my main world's base
yea im doin the same jus added mods on top of it, it was so simple
10/15 black cores on no armor no food no metal perma run πΏ
can't wait to die to something stupid
π€ yooo
Fall dmg
Was kind of forced into trying out the bear armor in my new solo run. Been running into waaaaay more bears than trolls. I like it. I already have my armor into the 30's, and I am only almost done getting the copper and tin I need. I guess RNG just loves throwing bears at me this play through.
eitr refinery bro π
(I have to allow just enough blackmetal to make gauldr table)
No way a single bolt killed you π
i'm not sure how much dmg they do
but i'm rarely at 25 hp bcuz the only way to regain hp mead is from healing meads found in mistlands dungeons
like i have 1 mead rn and that's it
Wiki says 30 poison and 30 lightning
i'm just gonna pretend like they one shot
π
u mean like no heavy armors or what does no metal mean
no metal unless progression requires it (so just mistlands stuff)
So no weapons that require metal, no potions, no weapons that requires metal indirectly etc
carapace spear, razor, finewood bow, wood club
ur selection of arrows is also heavily limited to bcuz ur highest crafting station is lvl 3
anyone intrested in a gauntlet run with challenges that will take u all over the map to become the winner at the end
I'm sure people in #1024264966712340510 would dig this
the eitr will oneshot you yeah its like 30
that's a tough way to play the game. Good on you.
so what do you allow yourself to use metal for?
Eitr refinery --> Gauldr table for sealbreaker
I know that you can glitch into sanctum with multiple techniques but I want it to be a glitchless run
I can't even imagine how you've got that far without taking a hit and dying.
it's certainly sadistic
I really struggle with mtns progression, bcuz without any armor or potions, freezing dmg is an issue, and moder is noticeably harder
So for all of mtns through very beginning of mistlands i was literally on 3 hp
they hate people doin promo in here lol
took all week, but found the first mysterious location - tedious
can you walk near some friendly dvergrs to get healed lmao
or do they only pop that when aggroed
Can you use poison resistance Mead and healing Mead at the same time?
I think it'd be cool to have a merchant in every biome, Meadows is a "Bounty Hunter" where you can. Sell trophies to. And a Mage shop in Mistlands. Not sure what Ashlands or Deep North would be
i'm running into so many bears it's crazy
for every 1 troll i see atleast 4 bears
not too many trophies so far only maybe 5
atleast 30 bear kills
i actually haven't tested that
I doubt it works though
I've noticed sometimes when the dvergrs are not aggroed on you but say a gjall or seekers, you receive a 20 second "dvergr power" buff. Not sure what it does, maybe a kind of rested buff cause it's the same red icon
the dvergr power buff does not give hp i know that to be true
i think it's like increased dmg or something
yea checked wiki, +20% dmg for 20 sec
yea dunno how that mechanic works ngl
fair haha
these bears are b.s., who asked for this?
i love em
bear meat is nice at the start and bear armor is great
damn got rekt by the same 1 β log troll that i died to earlier, this time i even had full health and stuff
just crazy dmg and reach with that log
and pretty fast attacks too, wasn't expecting him to hit me again so quick!
there are easily 4-5x as many bears as trolls, more health, good resists (you likely have blunt/pierce), I've seen them destroy torches in my hand and campfires, ridiculous and unecessary diffictulty spike for the second zone
Valheim
I've finally seen 4 trolls, and my bear armor is all lvl 3. I do like it, plus good armor. Don't really feel much in the way of the drawbacks. My shield seems to take care of most of that. If not nearly all of it,
I finally got a second trophy off a 1 star. Not that I need them for much. I guess I can make the token, that hardly ever activated for me last play through.
Any vanilla servers?
I'm kind of surprised there's no sub-channel for the Valheim board game......
Even in bronze age i sometimes struggle with them
At least they are easy to outrun.
And when i get them low they just run away
Bears? I have yet to have them do that. They fight until dead with me. So far.
where goomba at??
goober
is it possible to slow down day/night cycle?
I don't like the quickness, rahter long days and long nights
Not really, there Is timescale command but that slows down everything, all movement, interactions, everything.
damn
yo are you meant to cover your sap extractor with builds? or will mobs leave them alone?
They will not leave them alone.
damn alr ty xD
Yeah, I lost one last play through. Fortunately I had 4 more.
do bonemass power and crystal heart active resistances stack?
do resistances stack in general
i have the root harnesk and serpent shield do the pierce resistances stack
I want to say no, but I am not the best one to ask about these particular things.
Those two do stack.
does it not say in the valheim compendium's active stats tab?
I keep forgetting that even exists, so never look at it.
so serpent shield + root harnesk do stack? is it multiplicitave or additive? if you know someone that knows refer me to them
Yes those two are the only ones that stack since one resistance Is applied for blocking and the other for the dmg that goes through the block. All other resistances do not stack. π
so crystal heart + bonemass doesn't stack either?
Nope, resistances don't combine, the highest one counts, and since both give slight resistance then thats what you get π
havent played the game in a while, has there been any news on when the northpole biome thingy will be released?
no
not even if it'll be released next year?
makes sense ty
Opinions on the training dummy
change it back to battle brother

battle brother better name
how do you kick in this game? I saw a video where someone kicked the enemies
It's the secondary attack for fist weapons/unarmed
thanks
So I just completed the mysterious locations in the Ashlands. Is the sword any good? Do people like it?
Itβs a good weapon to hang up on your wall
It has high base damage for a 1h sword but with some luck the iolite nidhogg will often give better DPS, especially against multiple enemies
Thanks you two
@wicked quarry Right now it is as strong as other end game weapons but it might become best in slot for exploring the deep north
Itβs in the same tier, but I donβt know if it performs better than other weapons in the same tier π€
It performs like 1h sword with bit more added damage but no special effects.
It performs like a worse 1h sword
#1 dyrnwyn hater
In before hervor swaps to it next dev blog
Sadly true due to lack of special ability π
Hey. I got a question about the board game. Is that available in German. I think I ordered in German, but got an english Version. Hope someone can help
Try contacting MOOD on support@moodpublishing.com π
Wait... did my two pet rocks "reproduce"? Two stones have appeared where I have the rocks. And no, they're not stones that keep respawning because I've built over their location.
are the swamp trader items usefull later? I see no use for them yet
Yeah, they are.
Like, you have no recipes, or you don't see them as useful?
ok ill keep saving up gold
not yet, we're currently in snow zone. havent run the caves yet
That didn't answer my question but okay. π
no recipes
Ah okay, yes everything has a use typically.
unless i missed it or some of it is found in snow caves
havent stepped foot in plains yet
*#2 Dyrnwyn hater
Make that #3
Imagine hating a sword
i haven't used too much of trinkets so don't know best ways to activate them but parry blocking gives alot of adrenaline
Imagine if you need some kind of warmth in the deep north but Dyrnwyn provides that just like the mistwalker provides clearing mist
that could be funny
Would be painful
Having to hold a specific item to keep you from dying
Curious has the music ambience in ashlands been fixed?
Not yet
@copper bramble yeah, Krom is a beast.
And Carapace Armor without cape is my favorite look in the game.
the secondary attack lets me 1 shot seekers with 90 skill
not sneak attack btw
Real vikings do not sneak
i don't really go for sneaks
the only enemy i consistently and unintentionally sneak attack are gjalls bc i see them from far away and get a shot off before they aggro
To be fair, real vikings also didnt go to the ashlands or whatever, but rather they went to a similar area called England and visited churches
π
"you're not a real X, Y, Z is you do (blank)π€‘ " like bruh let me enjoy things
I didnt imply anything else
ik i was just voicing my thoughts
i can afford to think
dang, this guy's loaded
i'm a little gnome guy living in a tree trunk in the woods
i forage mushrooms and berries
when i say little gnome guy i mean me, who is built like a wall of muscle with a bearded face and stern neutral face
i spent so long playing the boar game it feels like i'm playing the video game of the board game.
It's so frustrating that devs haven't still fixed infested mines in mistlands. Wherever I go - nothing or a mine with 1-2 cores
It's just rng doing what rng does.
It's up to devs to fix RNG and make mistlans much more pleasant
I find the mines very much entertaining if not pleasant π
And the somewhat low core yield from each mine just means more excitement when you find them
can rancid remains spawn from bone piles in the burial chambers?
its the last BF trophy im missing π
I dont believe they can, no
aw
The only entertaining thing is to clear a room of bugs to gather few cores. It won't make finding cores more rewarding if I will encounter them 1/3 mines
There are so many other things that RNG ruins but mistlands are probably the worst yet
hello i need help, i installed mod BepInExPack_Valheim that gave me some extra slots for my armor and few items . but after closing and opening game again i dont have it and all my armor is gone
my bad it was ExtraSlots mod
You'll want to raise these questions in #mods-discussion ultimately, but it's always a risk using mods created by people outside of the development team.
When they do spawn, it is in burial chambers, and it is a one-time thing.
TIL that wolves have the same droprate for trophies as bears.... Sure doesnt feel like it but I'll have to trust
What's up y'all
Ive killed like 7 today alone, plenty more after. Im at the point where I got almost 5 full stacks of bear meat. 4 stacks +18 pieces
It feels like that because the amount of bears you encounter is by far less than the amount of monsters having a similar trophy drop rate.
Just rng π also wolves are way more common
fair
i have 3 full stacks of fuling trophies + extra
i don't know why i even keep them
i'm a hoarder ig
wish there was option to have my character NOT pick them up
or some use for them
someone here said that they didnt like the change for bait crafting but atleast troll trophies have some sort of use now.
Just turn the auto pick-up option off and it'll be easier.
In case you don't want that, turn them into coal with the obliterator.
At least that way they're useful.
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 might.
Ive killed plenty bears, shouldve had a good amount of trophies by now...
Killed more bears than viles by a margin, still managed to get 2 vile trophies before 2 bear trophies
took me 2 days to find a turnip in the swamps, and after i found it, i've found 4 more like in 5 minutes
game must be trolling me
Free coal!
i spawn in elder to destroy forest and burn that into coal
when i get in the ashlands i will use the environment to turn wood into coal instantly
You can already do that from Mistland onwards.
Or even earlier when you set the Fire Hazzard world modifier to "on".
Hi everyone.
Im looking for advice on the best hosting services for a valheim server, I would like to start one of me and my work comrades in the near future.
Merci d'avance!
I think this https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202550119191412736 is the place you should look in.
thank you
Gods, nighttime in Plains was always hectic, but it seems the latest update increased spawn rates even more. I ran from my base to my windmill to collect flour and set another batch to grind - came back a wee bit bloodied at dawn with 17 black iron, 22 lox meat, 10 needles, 10 lox skins, 1 vile trophy & ribcage and a smattering of minor stuff. Bags full just for running to get my damn flour π
1.0 droprates btw
yknow the way the description in game describes the herb blend it really gives off the vibe like it is some secret kfc 11 herb and spices
I remember arguing that there are too many enemies in the ashlands. Its no longer a problem on my end but there's just so many of them still. Anyway at the time I was quite vocal about it but someone, here, argued back that theres no more enemies than from other biomes.
I often think about than when im fending off 10 charred warriors at the same time.
can't say i've ever fought 10 charred warriors at the same time
Hey chat. Veteran Valheim player here with over 1000 hours experience returning after break. Not sure who to join or if I want to start fresh or join a clan. I'm all about vanilla. Not really into cheats or modding. Just want the raw experience. I'm pretty good at everything and love massive builds with crazy ditches and defences. I'm from UK. I last stopped my game at trying to get a foothold in Ashlands.
Look no futher than https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 π
I've been thinking that for a few weeks. I'm fine with it, it just means less time resupplying.
guys for a bow player what would be the best trinket i can get
Wolf sight, bronze pendant or nimble anklet
they spawn as part of "skeleton surpirse" so there's always hope
anyone wants to play ? i havent played this game in 2 years lol
someone in #1024264966712340510 might
decided to raise ground and my base 1 meter to get 4m basement, had to rebuild whole base
atleast it wasn't totally done and still isn't but damn that was alot of work still
I built inside of one of those stone rings. 5x5 house, 2 floors that are each 2 walls high. I wanna reorganize tho
Why is there no cool looking black metal armor
That is a lot of work. Kind of wish I had done that when I remodeled my base, but like my main floor being the same height as dock. Though kind of wanted a basement.
alot of work, but basement is great for alot of storage space or for portals
i'm gonna build aportal hub thought so only gonna use basement for eitr machine and storage
Eiter machine I have in a pit away from my house so nothing gets damaged. Really wanted a basement for overflow storage... you know for 1 BILLION bones!
rattle me bones
Donβt shatter me cage
if necrotic bones had more uses i wouldn't be throwing them away
like life steal arrows would be cool
or a life steal trinket
life steal mead?
life steal mead that heals you a % of the damage you deal but it slows your passive health regen for the duration
Nimble anklet requires withered bones.
did we get any halloween updates?
yeah but it's not like i'd craft more than one
is the nails occasionally not dropping from boats thing intentional? because its π©
Staying closer to the mast when demolishing the boat makes it easier to regain the nails.
You know what this game needs? The removal of the building height limit.
height limit or the building stability system
The second one
Forgot the name of this mechanic
i think you can turn it off with commands
you can still build big with it
my main base has 4 stories and a very high roof
But not huge.
How did you manage that?
you just need to build a good supporting structure
Yeah, ok. Could you send a picture?
build the frame first with core wood poles for the outline, then see with the hammer what color the highest pieces are to get a gauge on stability
i only have old pics for right now, not at my computer so can't get new ones
Ok, no problem. Thank you again.
look in #screenshots
still not yet finished
it has the bare minimum for being a functional base
oh i didn't have screenshots of the crafting/cooking area
How many hours do you have?
well when i get home in about 4 hours i'll post more and ping you again
Nice.
uhh like 300? 350-ish
i'm not much of a builder and i procrastinate on building anything other than a lawn base in meadows
i'm a melee combat expert
I have around 1500 hours..
I go range, f these dang trolls.
trolls are my favorite enemy
whenever i kill a troll i take a screenshot of its ragdoll
95% of my valheim screenshots are troll ragdolls
Well my favorite screenshot is of 2 trolls laying on top of each other
hot
anyways
building for me is a brake from progressing and a good time sink when i'm in the mood
Yes sir!
for bigger builds i always start by building a solid foundation and then the supporting structure out of corewood
my current base uses loads of the iron poles bc corewood poles didn't have enough supporting power
in the cellar screenshot you see how many pillars there are, it's all to support the rest of the build
8 stone pillars and 4 4m corewood poles per every 2 stone slabs of space
some critical support pillars have a sneaky iron pole hidden inside them for extra support
Well, I just posted a suggestion for my βproblemβ. And everyone disagrees with me.. π
i think you could just turn off stability in your own world
either with commands or a mod/plugin
like i have portal items enabled bc anybody got time for hauling metal on a boat
sure
my next build will be the foundation for my factory/smeltery build and then a perimiter wall with ballistas
There's ballista?
ballista is a turret you can build
:0
it targets creatures in range
Speaking about building in worlds, do you have a good seed?
i have a godly seed. it's not even funny how good it is
Could you DM me the seed?
can't i just post it here?
An expert huh? What combos do you know?
I think so
super secret one handed technique where you get two final attacks for 4x damage
I know such for all weapons, they aren't secret
Are you posting the seed?
Is it for the newest version?
yes
I don't know if there is a video of all of them on EN YouTube but I made one on RU, at least 2 persons said thanks
Super, then I will look at it after school.
it's an awesome seed. the starter island is connected to haldor, swamp with crypts and easy-to-get turnip seeds, mountains with 3 ice caves with 2 of them having tetra lakes, connected to plains as well
You can post on another server and send the link here(without a letter to bot get banned), probably will work
Nice
what link
And good building opportunities.
oh and also the closest real mountain has 2 exposed silver veins really close together right next to an ice cave
in this seed i was able to skip elder and bonemass and got directly access to frostner and silver armor
Message link
idk what message link you mean
Nevermind
......i was tabbed out and noticed my screen started to bob, thought something was attacking me
tab back in and my character is like, squatting repeatedly and rapidly? but the sneak indicator wasn't going on and there was nothing touching any of my keys LOL
i got a gif but i think we can't share gifs
I think you can in the #memes-and-clips channel
ty i posted it lol
It takes a few ingame days cycle but Iβm sure you donβt need more than a few meat pieces per wolf. Not stacks ^^
More than enough, and it takes 30 uninterupted minutes π
sounds good. if interrupted the timer just pauses right? it doesnt reset?
I suggest you build a roof over their enclosure. Bats and drakes can destroy the poor wolves
ive got raids to be rarer so hopefully nothing will spawn. im already like 15 minutes into the process so i hope nothing happens
i dont want to startle the wolf with building
SHIT i startled him i accidentally punched
hes fine again yay
a friend of mine has a problem. they started a new world so they could play different weapons, but they just max upgraded their flint axe immediately and i think they're going to just use a battleaxe again. what should i do.
Nothing, let them have fun π
but i really wanted to try porcupine with the vile set-imean they really wanted to try porcupine with the vile set
It's still perfectly viable at any point, so no harm here.
Your 'friend' should play with what they enjoy most, trying new things is always good, but returning to what you like isn't a bad thing.
i guess... but he used it on hard and loved it, and im wondering about next is he going to get into the very hard stuff with it
What is a good name for a port in the Meadows?
Green Vale
Anything for a fellow 1 T Mathew.
What do you mean with 1 T?
My name is also Mathew with 1 T.
What a coincidence!
i could only think of silly things with the word neck in it like "boar's neck"
Haha right? I grew up with 4 Matthews as friends so it's always nice to see!
Lovely π
I had the idea of creating a story world, so that everything I build has a story and lore.
That would be really cool π€
And, you will be memorized as the Meadows port master, Omni!
That's rad thanks!
May I do some lore about you?
Go right ahead!
Purple draugr be scary when you're squishy
They're terrifying the moment they're purple and only have a single arm and one eye.......
@nocturne wolf How do damage multipliers work, like, if I have yagluth power (10%), bear armor (10% for slash) and the resounding shackle up (+10% slash) is it +30% total slash or?
yes
as far as i know
dodge roll, hit, repeat 50 times
or bow from a tree
This should be the case, afaik.
They multiply each other
so not additive?
1.1 x 1.1 x 1.1
Im having some serious trouble finding someone to play this with... the thread the last guy invited me too had no help at all.
Ah, this is good to know.
yea for sure, recently killed the queen giga fast glitchless just by stacking bear armor, resounding shackle and yag power paired with krom secondary and was trying to back calculate the values
Hello, fellow vikings!
Good afternoon!
man i love casting spells
Man, I love this game
can crops grow without sunlight?
They need open sky above them, not necessarily sunlight π
do you all generally stick with one weapon to level it up? or use 2-3 different types?
lvl 20 swords currently but considering leveling up 2h axes
So my carrots cant be undeground
Nope
I'm usually using two types, sometimes use a third and eventually switch to a fourth at some point.
@verbal mist
ok i guess i'll go for it. I was using swords but I rarely pull out my shield to lvl blocking
Dang
This game can be played in so many ways when it comes to choices in weapons, just use what you feel fits you best.
There are some weapons which do more damage or have more advantages than others, but eventually the main goal of this game is that we - the players - are enjoying it. If that means you run around butt naked using a flint spear up to Mistlands, there's no-one stopping you doing that.
my end goal is 2h swords but it seems like a waste using 1h swords without a shield. Alot of lost dmg compared to a 2h
You can still use a 1h sword, as both 1h and 2h use the same skill eventually.
But as said, no-one would argue with you and tell you you're making a wrong choice if you pick the kind of weapon you like the most.
There are a lot of different play styles and the meta has changed over time a few times.
Personally I prefer bow / mace for some time, then switch to bow / sword / mace and eventually go for magic.
Others run with spears up to Mistland and go for magic at that point.
Then there are users with axes, users who use Atgeir and so on.
Just play this game the way it feels best for you. And enjoy it. Those are the two most important things. Anything else is just the means to the goal, not the goal itself.
a good strategy is to pick axe or sword or club, and either spear or bow for pierce/range, because when slash or blunt are resisted usually pierce is the answer. but itβs also not crazy to carry a variety of weapons for different enemies if you donβt mind losing the inventory space. my personal is 2 handed axe for groups, spear for certain single target foes and air.
use a shield. The blocking skill can be used with any weapon, even if you dont have a shield. And having one will help you a lot
Sword all the way. lvl 80 now while others wepon are lvl 15 to 30. The dmg is so different i can't switch anymore XD i don't want halve my dmg or spend hour farming battle brother
What's the argument towards regular shields? I feel like if you just want to block, you may use a Tower Shield, in any other situation, a Buckler makes more sense since Parrying is so powerful
Where does that leave the regular shield?
big shields can't do parries. only small and regular. To me the parries mechanic is the most important when fighting big monsters. it makes killing them much faster. But small shield leave you almost defence less if you don't know how to parry a particular monster. so that s why i stick to medium shield. It s a good middle ground.
but if you don't feel like parrying and just want to play safe being a tank, then big shield is the way
there cannot be anything solid above them, at any heigh above them
directly above them
regular shield is βsometimes i miss my parryβ or because you really like banded shield look more than iron buckler
people who are eh at parrying but like movement
yep
kind of, there WAS argument for tower shields, i found them actually more viable in ashlands just because the sheer volume of things coming at you there wasn't enough stamina to parry everything, and a fun alternative playstyle, but now that parry is free anything other than tower is just "better" in any situation. unless yeah, skill check and no judgment.
yeah but sometimes they don't drop at all
The thing is, if you know the timings, why would you use anything other than a buckler? In my first playthrough ever I played with the tower shield and it was pretty fun, but on a second playthrough, once you know the movesets and timings, anythign other than a buckler doesn't make sense
For a machine that never misses parries it wouldn't make sense. But people misses parries lol. The medium shied offers versatility. Buckler and tower shield don't have that.
there isn't any reason, you're right, parrying is now superior always. there WAS a reason to use tower shields other than skill difference, which kind of pointless to get into but yeah i had tons of fun using them as a change of pace.
Regular shield is the best of two worlds - enough block to protect you even if you mistime a parry or fight larger groups so parrying is no longer feasible, but you can parry and it is a strong enough parry in nearly all situations. Personally I have only ever used a buckler once, and I didn't like how weak it was when I had to do regular turtle blocking.
except turtle blocking is now just parrying over and over because its less stamina and stagger
You do some kind of spastic right-click spam then? If it works I'd put that down as a bug, they should probably add a slight cooldown to parry in that case.
you CAN just spam it, but no you can just press it too, there's sort of a cooldown you have to lower your shield before you can parry again at least, you can't perma parry with a rapid right click macro
i have "why did you do this" footage of me spamming parry vs ashlands mobs from back in the beta. i dont want to be a "skill diff bro" ahole but it's very possible to do
Yeah I'm failing enough parries vs single enemies that it would be very, very bad for my poor viking's help if I were to try that...
and that's fine, so round shields and tower shields exist and im glad they do. i just miss when it was a choice not a necessity to use tower
Which is indeed the case for the regular shield - you can parry and you can block - and they look way cooler than the bucklers π
agreeee. i make banded shield instead of iron buckler just for aesthetics
wooden, banded iron, carapace, flamemetal, silver,
actually i think most are non-buckler/tower now that i thikn of it
wooden shield > bronze buckler > iron buckler > silver shield > black metal shield > carapace buckler
i think that's what i've always crafted
Silver shield and blackmetal shield are regular shields..
And the wooden too of course, no buckler in the caveman era..
yeah i've never really paid that much attention other than NOT to craft tower shield
silver shield and black metal shield are kinda round ones too
just bigger ofc
serpent scale shield is so cool but i never get to use it
just a wall decoration for me π
Looks awesome but I have never used it other than as decoration either
It does have pierce resist so I suppose there could be a case for it if you don't use the root harnesk
ive used serpent scale to great effect in swamp against lots of stupid daruger and skeleton archers
youre basically invincible to arrows
GG !
He wasnt as bad as I thought he was going to be. Its all the Ashlands adds that decide they want to interrupt the fight
now do a hardcore run
Leveling shield seems tough unless you farm low lvl mobs
Cage up a weak enemy and use him for shield skill ups π
It gets easier if you practice it because eventually it becomes part of your combat routine
dang. 1st dungeon in a new run, 12 cores, 3 ghosts, and elder marker
our record is 10 the other night, 12 is sweet
anyone need a teammate
Nightspawned fulings in black forest, bloody menace they are. Silent, sneaky, all of a sudden they're just there stabbing you
Look no further than #1024264966712340510 π
Any north names for a Viking? Would love if it was close to Mathew.
Magni? Means "power" or "strength".
Too late, thx for replying.
I just went with Mathew
imagine a viking named mathew
Is that fight pit PoI supposed to contain something, or is it just a funny place? It had one skelly spawner but nothing else of note
is anyone there good at interior designs in valhiem? cuz i need help
Check in #building-tips channel maybe?
what iron weapon is the best to get?
i think iron has every single weapon type so whatever you think is fun
There is no "best" weapon, it is mostly up to your own playstyle. I usually begin with the mace however, since blunt damage is strong in the swamp - but all the iron weapons are good and have their moment to shine. Just use what you think is most fun.
My method is to type something into google translate and translate it to Icelandic. Guaranteed to sound very vikingy even if it is gibberish to an actual Icelandish person!
Example - my last viking is named "GrjΓ³tharΓ°ur" which is what google spat out when I entered "rock hard".
I haven't the faintest if it is something you'd ever say in Iceland, but that doesn't really matter as long as it sounds cool! π
"Mathew" becomes "stærðfræði"
There is tho.

Alas, "best" is subjective.
Krom
i wanna try the new axe
i like the Krom because it is the only weapon that fixes your vikings completely fucked posture when carrying it
Haha I ran casually up to my house after landing, with a gang of fulings on my heels. Just couldn't be bothered to kill them. When I got inside I realised I had forgotten to eat. One hit from those little green buggers would have staggered me and the others would have finished me off. What a stupid way to go... Phew!
question is it normal for my fps to drop when im inside my house
Pretty much if it Is somewhat larger build, the more instances the more fps are gone π
i haven't had any raid in a week of playing. I didn't touch the difficulty settings. Anyone knows what s going on ? is there a army gathering before marching on my base ?
Nope. RNG has been in your favour or you simply haven't been long enough near something the base considers as a base (3-player built items). Or not there the moment the check is done.
There's no best weapon, but more accurately the iron mace is the best weapon.
yeah thats what i was thinking thanks
sword
Whichever weapon you personally like Is the best for you
flametal atgeir when
π irongate knows atgeirs are so strong they realized an ashlands tier would be op
imagine jade atgier
Ling Atgeir though.
Press RMB, get 6 chain procs, everyone dead π
Big shame no two-handed Ashlands hammer π
Everyone going to leave bloodstone atgeir out?
I don't like fighting with atgeir normally, but as an ohshit-tool it is unbeatable. Every time I have pulled too many seekers, lox or whatever, I swap to my trusty old spin-to-win stick. Even unrested, the stagger is enough to regain enough stamina to spin again...
Anyone have a pro tip for hitting a tiny thing (like part of a multi-part rock) that's sticking out of the ground with a pickaxe? I hate it when I hit the ground and "mess it up"
Though I guess in reality the actual issue is feeling like something is wrong as soon as the terrain gets manipulated
Not really, i relly purely on feeling
Best tip would be - either dig it out and then even out the ground with the hoe afterwards, or don't try
Good to know I didn't miss any super obvious way to aim at least π
Yeah, you'd think the cursor is where it's at, but heck naw, can't be that simple!
It has to be pretty precise hit, otherwise like Derleth said above.
not until a change to that gemstone happens
π’
But as I hinted at - I feel like the original state of the terrain is somehow "pure" and that I ruin it whenever it gets modified... and this is something I need to find a way to frame differently in my mind.
For me, it's that last bit of shiny muddy scrap gleaming between the stones, I have worn out so many pickaxes trying to get at that damn thing, that probably wouldn't give me any iron anyway.
I have a similiar feeling - but I have started using the Cultivator to grassify the ground when I'm done with a copper pit or whatever, makes it look more natural even if you've dug a half Grand Canyon
Oh yeah, I do that... use some of the stone to shape it a little, then grassify it. It's great
But I'm struggling with some perfectionist thoughts around the terrain. The original state is not only unique because it is "the original"... it also means that every part is "maximally modifiable" (i.e. it sits right in between the two limits on raising/lowering). So I feel like as soon as I modify it, it is somehow "less" and I feel bad.
I kind of felt that way about more things before so I'm getting better at accepting it, but still not all the way there
My main "thing" is deforestation - I can't stand it. So to get wood I mainly just cut down the underbrush, saplings and young firs in Meadows and Black Forest. When my worlds are a few hundred days in the areas around my bases tend to look like well-kept forest parks. I keep a "tree-plantation" grown that I can decimate if I run into a sudden need of timber.
I share that feeling - I'm usually only cutting down trees in a very conscious way when I feel like I need to for other reasons than wood (if it's standing on top of a copper deposit etc). But I kind of got over tree-felling eventually... The long term plan for an area I remove trees from is to replant it later - but with oaks (being one of the few sustainably plantable trees). So there's an element of change by my actions, but it's 'change' rather than destruction
Gotcha. I almost never fell oaks, just because of my irl fascination with really big old oak trees. I tend to take a few in small meadows bits I won't ever visit again, until I get at least one acorn. I want an oak near my base to put my beehives on hehe
I imagine that in the case I actually stick with a world and area for a long time, it will be an oak forest... and since those don't grow naturally anywhere, it's something of a "someone tended this area" feeling I'm looking for
On my first server I ran we found a spot where rng had congested about twelve oak trees in the same place, along with a nearby draugr village. I commanded all the players on the server to leave those oaks the fudge alone π
They are majestic. I wish the branches didn't go quite as low though. They seem to rest on the ground as often as not
If someone destroys a berry bush tho. World ruined
Argh, I go through a major crisis every time I hit a berry bush or some agitated lox levels a patch of cloudberries...
I wish they would regrow in like 5 times as long as it takes the berries themselves to grow back (but make them not do it if covered or something, just in case someone intentionally removed one for a build)
I didn't know draugur could spawn in the meadows gave me a big scare lol
it was only one of them though which is the weird part
If you have killed Bonemass, they can spawn there during misty nights. Otherwise it could have wandered off from a swamp or escaped a draugr village
Ive only killed the first 2 bosses
and the closest swamp to me requires ocean travel
Then you definitely have a draugr village somewhere nearby
It could also be a straggler after a swamp raid. It ran off chasing deer or whatever while you killed its buddies.
my raids are turned off
also
There's no way I havent seen a drauger village from exploring lol
@heady parcel
Im @untold sinew btw
ok?
will my asksvin pen at my meadows base need a roof? they're tough enough to survive all the air raids right?
They need a roof because somehow raid kills their youngs
ok, im need to think about how i want to build this now π its gotta be stylish
i've seen three of them on the mountains lmao
Yeah, you do find draugr in mountain keeps. Usually 3 or more of them.
It's after Elder, not Bonemass.
They can rarely spawn in other biomes during night and foggy weather after Elder being defeated.
LETS GO THE QUEEN IS DEAD, time to sail for ashlands im so excited
How do i get ymir flesh
Trader in the dark forest. Explore a little away from the middle, he'll pop up on your map.
ye so i found him and hes not seling it
Defeat Forsaken.
who is that
What have you found in the dark forest?
I want to help you with out spoiling too much. Have you found anything other than skeletons or greydwarves?
yea
trolls and bears and all that
Have you surveyed the dirt terrain well? Any interesting stone structures?...
yeah ive been in the dark forest for a long time
Have you found any runes that generate map POI locations?
can you just tell me how to get haldor to sell ymir flesh
Defeat Forsaken. I can't remember if it is The Elder or Bonemass...
Thanks
it's elder
'cause you can get frostner before bonemass
lol, yeah. Spirit + Frost mops Bonemass up.
So, my friend and I have reached Mistlands, and we just got our first piece of armour. So like, when we do get some better gear, what do we do then? Just kill Queen? We have all three new workstations(forge, galdr, refinery) We donβt really know what we should do, so up until now weβve just been doing mines hoping something new would show up.
Also, weβve a sealbreaker whatever that does
As with previous biomes, the progression remains the same, gear up, discover and kill the biome's boss
Other than that you can spend your time trying out the mage playstyle, cultivating the crops you can grow and find in the mistlands, stuff like that.
As for the sealbreaker it's an item you need in order to actually enter the boss arena of the biome, so have it on you when you do go fight it
Anyone know the number of sky squares are required to be open for a dwarf farm? is it 9 or is it one?
what on earth is a dwarf farm
grey dwarf farm?
where you make a farm for wood, metal and grey dwarf eyes.
:/
if you take a 4 by 4 wood horizontal. is it 9 of these of is it one?
idk
yo chat, i finished mistlands, looking for group with same progression, any group that playing together going for the next biome? me 29yo π
Look no further than https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 π
Thanks!
thanks amte
anyone knows the details of how much do death penalty setting reduces the skill loss ? every YouTube video is just reading the information in the setting panel but it's very vague.
@brisk walrus 5% each skill and the orange bar
1% skill loss for casual and very easy, 2,5% for easy.
thanks
the numbers i gave you are no adjustment.
Does it round up or down? Or nearest?
Always lose at least one skill level, none unless >40 or none unless >20 on default 5% loss?
Found the relevant wiki page... no rounding, you actually end up with weird in-between levels
So dying with 5% loss at 35 skill would leave you with a new skill level of 33.25 and zero progress towards... 34? Or 34.25? π€
i think it s always at least one skill lvl + the orange bar no matter your previous lvl
but i'm not sure.
What hapens in this case :
Death penalty on very easy : 1%
fishing skill lvl of 3 and almost 4.
After dying : lvl 2 and no orange bar ?
or lvl 3 with no orange bar.
In other words, is the orange bar taken in account before or after deducing the skill percentage on death ?
Not taken into account. And according to wiki you end up with a skill level of 2.97 in that case, but the display is truncated to just show 2
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/World_Modifiers
Under Skill Loss.
But even a wiki can be wrong sometimes
It's correct here
mistwalker + buckler vs krom.
thoughts?
i like them both because krom is a chad that hits hard and mistwalker is light and fast with the frost slowdown that i adore
^for context i currently have 90 skill in swords and 45 in blocking
If you're only making one, mistwalker is good against all ashlands enemies but krom won't do well against morgens
yeah for ashlands i'm leaning mistwalker
i tried ashlands in creative yesterday and like damn.... do i need a mod to make the environment fullbright? i can't see shit
i can see more things in mistlands than ashlands
im sad man i just downloaded a modpack to immediately hear AI music yuck
How charred marksman can spawn anywhere on the map close to me? Not in the Ashlands, like i was fighting in goblin camp and got this man
Defeated Ashlands boss? Charred warriors and archers can spawn in other biomes during night time after you defeat the boss.
Ah, okay, thanks
Other mobs too, after certain bosses.
mhh, what's the deal with the bear in black forest? it keeps popping up frequently. not like trolls. i spend most of the time killing it.
Nah, don't saw them, only spawned 2 marksmans like 10 min each
i even find it hard to mine copper... bear keeps coming back.
anyone? bears just keep repoping.
had the opposite issue, too rare.
does your world have higher spawn rates by any chance? in the custom settings
Bears are more common than trolls but can be avoided more easily with a 15m hearing limit
If you donβt kill the bear it will keep coming to where it spawned
there are my settings https://i.imgur.com/saNySE1.png
they just repop and i keep killing them. can't to anything more
well, the game wants you to get the full bear armor
maybe once you wear it you will blend in with the other bears
ha-ha. i could already equip the entire valheimverse wiht bear armor π i just keep killing the bears and that's it. they're bad in combat. you can just sprint when they're about to attack
but killing them takes time. they got lot of hp
for a real tip : if you know exactly where they spawn by now, placing a bench there should prevent them from spawning anymore.
this doesn't seem to work. i tried it. perhaps not in the right places. who knows!
Hmmm...Do Flametal Ore Spires stop sinking after you've killed Fader? I've now completely harvested 3 ore spires without sinks since killing him.
ahh cool
From 10% chance to 1% chance to start sinking when hitting with pickaxe.
Still I manage to get 3 close spires to start sinking after few hits.

does the trollstav meteorite let you mine flametal
Trollstav aoe has tool tier 0 so it can't damage flametal
sadge
Bearstav when?
How about Beerstav?
Beer meteor that splash drunkness debuff to any inside its AoE.
Yes!
First two I tried mining in Ashands sank on first hit, I thought it was supposed to be like that and was confused when the third didn't sink at all...
First one sinking on first hit also instigated my only deaths so far in Ashlands. Lots of stupid decisions in a short span of time. Ended up in the lava, and it hurt...
wow this wraith killed me twice and persisted during daytime
make frost meads and go get the silver sword before you touch the swamp. easy
No. Lol.
kill the queen, go the ashland, make youself the best weapon in the game. And get some frost meads. Easy
yes!
No. Lol.
take a karve down to the ashlands it'll be fine π
real men go swiming
enough valheim for a while, cya guys when 1.0 launches
Iβll be doing the same shortly as well. Completed my latest play-through and now just prepping the base for 1.0.
Dungeon and Kingdoms launches on Nov 17th so thatβs what I have lined up next,
holy bro, the swamps really shitty huh haha, just grinded through the whole biome and got 300 scraps just to be done with it
Love the swamp, its ambience suits my soul I guess. Dark, wet and putrid π
yeah i also like the ambience but its like theres always something trying to kill you
Whats the theme of the deep north boss
||its Ulf||
Isn't there always?
It's not out yet, so we don't know yet
they havent made any teasers yet?
Not of boss, no
Check the videos and find out. They tease a bit of the environment, maybe some glimpses of enemies and structures - but I highly doubt they will show us the boss
i have a question im boutta beat the swamp biome soon is the game gonna get like really hard or is it gonna be simple
i think its easier after swamp imo
Every biome shift means a bit of a difficulty jump, the most distinctive ones being from Plains to Mistlands and from Mistlands to Ashlands.
It's going to get a lot harder.
You will have to deal with an event that can struck you anywhere, not just when you're on your base, you will have to eal with an event that can kill your farm animals and you will have to deal with bosses which are a lot harder.
Not to mention, monsters that are resistant to certain damage types and neutral to most others.
so the first 3 biomes are a tutorial basically
yeah, mountain wasnt as significant of a difficulty spike, I was able to find a double silver vein right off the bat, and move on to plains
yup
The first big one Is the one from BF to Swamp π
Yeah the swamp is where it gets real if you're going very casual and not paying a lot of attention!
i had a dream about valheim and the devs said they are gonna make a dlc where you go on the big tree and there is more biomes bosses and enemies there imagine
Which Is lot of first time players π
im not really having any problems with swamp
abomb appears
where can i vent my valheim anger out on here?
Means you are probably paying more attention to things than a lot of players. Some players found the swamp nearly impossible at first. I had my first instance of getting absolutely destroyed and corpse camped by an assortment of mobs, but eventually I learned to deal with it. Some players really struggle there.
Steam forums, Reddit are some places.
But you could also give it a try in this channel.
At least over here we're able to give you advise right away.
Reddit π
can i swear without insulting anyone?
Better not do that.
We've got users of all ages over here.
Well, at least from the minimum age Discord requires someone to be.
okay
bro im so p off from the black forest or the shores in general
how the hell do i have rested buff eikthyr and 100 stamina and cant run up slightly uphill with a cart
it takes me minutes to move metres
idk if this is a issue but this seriously needs resolving i understand gravity yeah yeah all that, but this was literally almost a smooth path that my cart was struggling on
Because the cart mechanics are weird.
It work well with about half the slots filled with metal, but beyond that it becomes a big pain in the rear.
Don't load it too heavily, you're not superman - weight matters. Smaller loads and it goes a lot easier
i see,so weight does cange how it works. it was probably that beacuase i can lots of copper
yeah, I spent a lot of time making roads in my first BF area, now its awesome, signs and everything
stam and buff don't matter. Only the weight of the cart.
amazing bro sounds like it saves alot of time
i recomend stoping at 1500kg
And yes, clearing roads makes a great difference when carting
okay thanks so much guys ill try moving some of the raw materials to my inveotrry
BRO IT WAS BELOW THAT π
bro you need to hit the gym
i play alot of souls likes so valheim is not a problem for me i want the other biomes to lower my ego abit
my carts on 1297 and acting like a 600kg man who needs a stroller to walk
I want more POIs, maybe even a portal where players can upload their own POI creations, then they can attribute weights or values to them for the proc gen
There are some mobs in the coming biomes that can be humbling, and the bosses do get harder all the time.
I don't know how steep the angle was, but have you tried going up diagonally? And then zig-zagging?
Things might work better that way.
of course, ive definitely tried. and it still doesnt help!! but its alright im slowly making my way to base. literally departed 20 minutes ago and im still walking.
How much weight do you have in your inventory?
Because that will have its influence as well.
really ?
where did you get that information ?
i had about 150 max in my inv and 1200 in my cart, i just put all my misselaneous (holy spelling) into my inventory and its suprisingly working a bit better
@pliant hatch
kinda gets harder after the mountain
you are supposed to build a road before using carts
And another question: have you find Haldor yet?
He's got a nice item that's also helpful with inventory weight.
cant be bothered
i know, the bedjingord or hwoever its spelt. how much money is it and how do i even efficiently find money? i think i got around 150 coins or so and i havent found haldor yet
