cook some food first
you can eat up to three diff food at the same time to buff your HP and stamina
Okay bet
you'll need them
also get the "Rested" buff on as well
either by sleeping in the night or sitting in a shelter by a fire for 20s
Food is the most important stat in the game.
Rested is like the red thing that millennials get tattooed on themselves right
Wait the elk thingy is supposed to be easy :D?
upgrade ur armor and weapons for an easier time to kill it
Pathetically.
yeah just figure out the dodging mechanic and you're golden
also the next biome's mobs gon hit hard so the upgraded armor will help u survive as well
Ahhh... I'll give it another try then ๐
I believe in your ability to think critically and solve this problem.
Possibly by using the same method real humans did in the past to solve said problem.
inb4 someone else ruins your ability to learn....
fun times tryin to get up a mountain on a sliver of BF with plains on both sides
the way fire works in valheim is
- it needs to be dry
- if indoors the smoke needs to be vented out
Called it.
do what you can with this information
Is there a way to make night go faster?
Sleep.
bruh i saw a guy on reddit having Moder's mountain surrounded by plains and the mistlands ๐ญ
i havnt even gotten out of the swamps yet got nailed by 2 squitoes and a 1star fuling at same time
I just cooked my food so long I got cool
Fortunately there are always 3 mountains ๐
plus its about midnight in game skirting the plains is bad times lol
you mean Moder's spawn points always comes in 3?
At a minimum.
the other day i started a dedicated server with a friend and we found two Eikthyr spawns in like 500-600m from each other
You should have done a 3-2-1 summon at each altar and seen which of you killed theirs faster.
Yep, the sequence for number of boss altars Is 3, 4, 5, 3, 4, 5, 5 ๐
it'll be me
DYING ON DAY ONE???
i got executed by mother nature
(chopping a tree without looking)
-# And maximum ๐ unless you spawn more yourself
I don't think I've ever chopped a tree on day 1 before tbh.
i like building a house next to the spawn altar bcs i'll go back to it often anyway
the spawn altar is a bit further north
i'm already running a pig farm there now ๐
Yeah but I don't build the stone axe. I skip to flint.
Which rarely happens on day 1.
So there is a lot of tree punching, but no chopping.
if only early game minerals are mineable at later biomes lmao
not that they have use for it
just a neat thing i'd like to have
at least iron and copper are abundant in the mistlands
welp i made it up the mountain found a frost cave and about 20 ft away up the hill a silver vein pokin out but guarded by a golem :S
Ah, the rite of passage.

oh the other death was me trying to take down a bee hive and got poisoned to death
(i was at 15 HP and neglected to eat)
Spears one-shot hives from a safe distance.
Who ever said eikthyr was hard lied
What do you all use for player base objects? Do you put workbenches everywhere?
@fathom gulch WUT U MEAN LIKE FOR BUILDING STUFF OR STOPPING ENEMIES FROM SPAWNING
Player base area to stop enemies from spawning
Campfires ๐
And also to prevent dropped items from vanishing
Campfires prevent spawns and items despawning even if they are not lit and are less visially intrusive than workbenches ๐
how much is "enough" tar?
240 tar is pretty good, right?
This is ofc after I decked out my main base in darkwood and shingles
That depends how much you're planning to build.
Its... ||not enough||
A full darkwood roof for your base will eat that.
all of it
Yea itโs not enough
welp scoured the whole mountain no onion seeds :/ most of the slopes were about 75 - 80* but found 4 frost caves and a howling cavern also got my moder eggs still gotta go kill bone boi
1 - building materials is never enough
2 - running away is a viable strat
and number 3 and I cant stress this enough...
3 - THAT LONGSHIP FULL OF IRON IS NOT ENOUGH
6 longships full of iron isnt enough
A drakkr full of cart and all that full of iron is never enough
They can play hard to get, found mine on my 4th (relatively large) montain this playthrough
Had everything else, was just waiting for onions before confronting moder
got all the mountain trophies tho
got moder location too its closer to home than elder was
will be my next voyage
#memes-and-clips message I wonder how much damage that would have dealt. @nocturne wolf
I'll check now, but I'd guess it's the same as the other swipes. It's all a single animation so every hit in the combo has the same damage and hitbox.
Would be fun if it was double damage like with most of weapon attack combos.
Honestly what enemies have combo attacks
the fuling beserker has 1
Not many yeah.
Cultists, bears, seeker soldiers
all three of these bad bois do like 2 combo
Morgen cant forget about that
Curious, do loot generations get effected by resource modifier?
They drop more according to modifier number.
The enemies do double and stuff like muddy scrap piles its resources are doubled aswell but what im specifically talking about are the loot generations like chests in dungeons
apologies for the confusion
Ah. The loot from chests are also affected by the multiplier.
That is sweet, because I was able to haul a decent amount of iron on my first swamp
like half a cart to get started on iron stuff
I've played in one world with 1,5x resource multiplier and noticed all chests granting more loot, which made getting iron also much easier.
In multiplayer I mean, before Ashlands update.
i find the 1x resource rate too tedious especially in single player, 1.5x does hit the sweet spot though
For me 1x is fine, but 1,5x is good for co-op.
pretty sure no one
hard mode is too hard
good morning my fellow vikings
๐
still no yagluth stone found sad, but we went from no ore to 2 full chest of black metal/iron x)
green black metal needs more uses tbh.
it sonly weapons/shield or something right?
need to make loads of threads for the armor
And the chest "upgrade"
we are still only using the basic storage chest x)
Iron chest is technically the best one ๐
Like BM chest has more space, but iron chest can be packed tighter.
we should probably upgrade our storage we dont even know where to put our ore atm haha
Upgrade to iron and appreciate the glory.
gonna need lots of iron to upgrade padded eventually anyways can always just farm more crypts idm
Iron is one thing you will never stop needing more of.
glad to hear it, I like hoarding but wasnt sure haha
dont even know what to do of our silver/copper/tin ๐
Silver sword is BiS vs. Yagluth.
Copper becomes a building material when you hit Mistlands.
Im dumb ๐
Nuuuu
I was too excited to get our obliterator I shoved my silver sword into it...
since I just made a black metal sword.
BM sword is good overall. Silver is just better vs. Yag specifically.
my friend wasnt happy about it haha
Silver sword is also good for some enemies in ashlands
Swords in general are reliable
And maces in general are too reliable
Spears, my beloved.
I like swords because of its special attacking, being one of if not the highest damaging weapon in the game
and I like swords because well they're sword
especially the 2-h ones of my sweet lord krom and slayer greatswords
Sword and knife both have 3x damage on the secondary
2-h swords are fun, they still need to fix the bug on 1-h swords though.
What bug?
what bug?
Not having MtP.
same braincell
How do you know that's not intentional?
Because they did have it.
Then they added 2-h swords, which should not have had it.
But something got switched and 2-h's ended up having it and 1-h's ended up not having it.
They fixed the bug for 2-h's, now just need to fix it for 1-h's.
If they wanted to remove it they would've done that at the same time they changed 2h swords
Conjecture.
sorry.. but whats mtp D:
multiple target penalty
basically reducing damage of your weapon when you hit multiple enemies at once
Dealing less damage when hitting multiple targets with one attack
ah gotcha like when mining and hitting multiple rocks or cleaving with swords ennemies
Right now swords are the sole 1-h weapon that does not have said penalty. Which is bs.
goes with gathering resources aswell like mining you said and chopping but not as impactful as combat
and its all ive used so far 1handers ๐
well swords, tempted to try magic once we step into mistland eventually.
1h axe secondary has no mtp
Not having MtP makes 1-h swords objectively better than other options.
Which is a bad choice if it is intentional.
Very slow, made-for-stumps secondary-only vs. all attacks not having it... How is this a valid comparison?
a lighthouse won't really fix that problem if you're too far away from the coast anyway
Atleast its a indicator if im going in the right direction when I get close
A no map run really does test your marking knowledge
ah, yeah, I feel you
1h sword secondary does have mtp
Honestly im so lucky to find hildir and haldor so fast in a random seed
I just checked every single BF and Meadows I came across
Welp im back home with a decent haul of iron to get started
not enough tho still need alot
no map run sounds pretty wild
going on a boat adventure and dieing or losing boat to some bs and trying to get back oof x)
Its not too harsh when you get used to it
you simply don't, or make really sure you memorize the path
and yes, you get used to it
I actually like it because I dont have to look at my map every damn which irritates me lmao
finding bosses must be a pain tho no
the minimap as a whole is a concept I'm not really fond of in many games
you just like click the boss stone and go into the direction it nudges you?
Yes
oh, let me tell you, I had a Vegvisir which kind of glitched out, because it literally pointed me in one direction the first time, and another the second time I came prepared to sail
add map view for map table, that is more exciting
and I was there thinking "what the hell???"
Really your best source of indicator is the sun
I'm sure because there was almost a 90 degrees angle of difference
or ya know...
THE GIANT TREE ABOVE US ๐
In a no map run the tree is a god saver as to not get lost
always thought u could get to yggdrassil at some point playing this game
yeah, no, there are tricks to get around without getting too lost, but the issue was with the vegvisir itself: what's the point of it if it keeps changing where it points?
Wait for it...
unless! Ive got no clue about mistland/ashlands
Probably pointing to multiple other boss locations
but from wwhat I understand it points you to the closest
it should point to the nearest one by default
I could honestly just run full stamina
fighting enemies in very hard combat is a chore
and trust me, when I checked the actual map of the game, it was pointing towards a second elder way out of range from the first
which made no sense
Following norse mythology, if you could traverse yggdrasil, it'd literally mean escaping Valheim
I canโt find the stone for the Black Forest boss. Iโve finally traversed the current land Iโm on but apparently will have to set sail now. As a new player I feel Iโm missing how things progress.
I think the Elder vegivisir is inside crypts
its how I found mine at least
The vegvisirs (stones that reveals the boss position) are usually found in the biomes dungeons, which in black forest means burial chambers + it can be also found around the stone towers greydwarfs guard ๐
Its probably in the troll cave Iโm afraid to go in ๐คฃ
Nope, cant be there ๐
Iโll have to do some more grave robbing if itโs likely in a crypt. I was not aware of that. Thanks
moar cores for ya
Lots of yellow mushrooms as well. And Amber and pearls that I canโt do anything with yet ๐
I dont even know what to do with my yellow mushroom by now haha
I just started so I eat them lol ๐ not sure what all to do with them. Just got to the part with smelting tin and copper for bronze. Cauldron and fermentation but havenโt got a lot of experience there yet. I got some carrots lol
honey/shrooms were my best friend early on
Iโve got 4 hives right now! ๐
should be plenty tbh, we are 2 and we had 4 since the start.
and like rn I think weve got 200 honey haha
I think this game would be a lot of fun with a small group.
It indeed can be ๐
having lots of fun playing with my buddy ๐ he builds and I cook/potions/farming ๐
Would make the bears easier to take care of! They are my mortal enemy at this point.
I just started again yesterday (never defeated the 3rd boss before). I think multiplayer could be very nice, but I think I can play to little hours a week to be a reliable partner for 1 or more players
Mines are either Lox or Growth but only when im already fighting something lol clearing a village and getting 2 lox on you is pain for me
I understand that completely! I work and have kids so itโs hard to play sometimes.
I only have seen them in YouTube videos at this point. No in game encounters yet.
someday you will get there ๐ just take your time and enjoy your adventures ๐
Once you get few down, use their own hands against them.
๐ค
I have not crafted those yet. I seen them but I try the stealth archery play style always. Better/safer for me lol
do you guys usually keep ur base at one spot or do you eventually move ur base/build a 2nd one?
The thing is that they resist pierce (and blunt) damage, but not slash. They're perfect enemies to practice proper close combat skills like dodging and parrying.
Outposts until I find good location for main base.
I was not aware of that! I had trapped one with walls and set a fire under it.
going into mistland soon-ish was debating a change of scenery for base ๐
You should see a doctor! D:
I built what I call my main base near the elder stones and have made a couple small outposts and recently set up portals to make the travel easier. Wish I could take my copper and tin through them lol
ye been in meadows near elder stones with my greyling neighbors
You can always change your world settings when you launch (unless youโre in a server)
When you deal damage and see damage numbers on enemies you can tell by the color about their resistances/weaknesses:
- Yellow = target is weak against that weapon type (takes 1,5x damage)
- White = target is not weak nor resistant (takes normal damage)
- Grey = target is resistant against that weapon type (takes 0,5x damage).
Iโve only got 30 hours or so in and I feel like I YouTube stuff to try and figure it out. I just found this discord today. I play no mods at this point. Most of my hours are spent running around and revealing as much of my map as I can. Running and hiding from trolls and bears.
Red is damage done to yourself ๐
Figured that one out quick lol
Ah, the joys of learning through pain
Many figure it out after cutting the first tree.

Yeap exactly what happen
If you have killed eikthyr you are strong enough for trolls and bears. Try to fight them instead of running and eventually you'll be more confident.
Man I ran and shot him with arrows for ever. I probably wasnโt ready for him I thought I was.
Youโre never ready for your first fight
A bear or a troll? Arrows are good for trolls, not bears.
Or when building and taking one step too many.....
Or when AFKing atop their chimney
That's after The Platters show up, singing "Smoke gets in your eyes", I assume?
first few fights against new monster always go like this ๐ man up and learn to go in and dodge/parry ๐
will be rewarding
Can always hide behind a shield until you get used to those parry windows
Or dodge windows!
Yep, like I mentioned above, bears are good targets to practice dodging and parrying since slash weapons are much more viable against them than arrows.
I was the same as him a week or so ago, even my first venture into plains I got smacked until I parried and dodged ๐
While they have more HP they deal little less damage than trolls and they also have more variable attack animations. Hits with one paw are easier to parry even with wooden shield.
JUST
MAKE SURE
YOU UNEQUIP
YOUR PICK
Blocking with that thing is worse than taking the hit XD
I havent took the risk to parry/block the fuling zerker yet tho haha
With no stars they won't be a problem
could I parry/stun their combo? prolly right
Yes, it's blockable
ill have to get back in there! missing 2 totems anyway and havent seen many night creatures there
Itโs doable. The problem is having enough max hp, armor and block value
Armor doesn't affect what you can parry
Yeah, you should be fine
You'll be fine, they're balanced to be fought with mountains equipment
yeah no, more of im not sure how parry works like sometimes ill take damage
With the way armor is calculated, you will always take some damage when blocking/parrying
If youโre missing parries, block a little earlier (and keep your shield up to mitigate in case youโre early)
but like lets say a monster hit for 100, and block armour is 78, I take 22 damage?
The parry window is pretty generous
prolly smarter to just check there ye, also have no clue what the viking logo with red means after parry/blocking
Vertical bar? Thatโs your stagger meter
The stagger bar shows how close you are to being staggered, interrupting your animations and movement when it's full. (players don't take increased damage while staggered)
aaaaah wasnt sure if it was some kind of CD on blocking or something, makes sense never got it to full
Parry is with weapon and block is with shield correct?
You can parry with medium and small shields
Itโs just timing your block to the incoming swing
Parrying is possible with weapon or shield, but not tower shield.
So Iโm probably more blocking as I hold until they attack and then I attack
Guess Iโll have to look at parry as well
Timing block before the hit connects which results to loud noise and enemy getting staggered, which is parry/perfect block. IIRC there is 0,25 second time window to land a successful parry.
Youโll hear a chime when you successfully parry
aaaaah didnt know tower shield couldnt, I was really debating making a tower shield but I play pretty offensive and parry often, feels so good when parrying projectile and stunning from range. Speaking of, can you parry a fireball from shamans lol?
You can!
You can.
Iโve just made the bronze buckler shield
Well last night
Iโm unfortunately at work right now
Craft a shield at work!
๐
Bucklers are superior for parrying due to their higher parry multiplier (2,5x) vs normal shields (1,5x).
How do you know all these stats lol
Itโs all in the item description
By memory.
Any item with a parry bonus can parry. Weapons are 2x
But also it shows in item stats.
I should probably pay more attention to that.. I just basically started slashing trees and went from there
Impressive
I just got the ship to get into ashlands. Can I find copper and iron there for shields or should I bring my own?
Bring your own.
There's plenty of cargo space on that ship anway.
Better to bring own, there are very little sources for other metals.
Gotcha. Guess ill excavate some jotun armor before I head south
oh theres a bigger ship... ๐ฎ my friend was lieing to me for the eventual surprise
In this server it's hard to avoid spoilers on things when engaging in conversations.
I've only sailed it once..but honestly it feels cartoonishly large
Kinda feels like im playing sea of thieves at this point, and im solo on a galleon
Sure wish it had a pen in it. Iโd love to ferry livestock
anyone know why my iron pole doesnt get grounded when i plae it on max height - 1 black marble wall?
One question: Is it possible to find multiple identical dealers on one map?
Only one of each
thx
Wish the drakkar was steam powered
with cannons
Well it's obvious isn't it
My friends and I just found the rare Frost cave with a lake in it and a fishing rod with a lore stone....I even had enough wood on me to relight his old camp fire ha
Thought I would never find one of those to be honest
nice 'n cozy
In my experience, they actually have to touch the ground to be grounded. Put it on anything else and they won't be grounded.
you have to touch actual ground (OR the equivalent, a static indestructible object, like the big swamp trees) with it--if you just start it off a stone structure, it will start with it's "strongest" support and then just degenerate from there (so a stone/black marable piece at the edge of breaking aleady, won't allow an iron-wood pillar build off it to support much if any better)
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Building_stability
I always forget about the "Static indestructible object" part. Its why I often use the Elders altar.
after an hour of brutal fights i've finally managed to establish a foothold and made a two-way stone portals connection in the Ashlands and my main base
so what's next? i havent mined the Flametal stuff should i do that first
havent built much yet, its all my partner's job, I cook and make potions haha a.k.a put down feast everywhere
Its not always easy to find Flametal, so thats going to really determine what you do, etc..
Are there any plans to add something useful that you can do with troll hide? I've got half an iron chest full and nothing to do with it, I'm thinking about just crafting piles of troll armor and using it for decoration at some point
Mead makers are appreciated members of the community
Especially given how fast I can burn through Tasty.
Thats been asked for since I started playing 4 years ago. So the answer seems to be... no. I've used them in the past to put on armor stands and make my base look populated. Most of the time I just turn them into coal.
Troll hide + Linen Thread = Blue Jute would go so hard tbh.
Man, ashlands is so horrible
No?
Thats right you can do that
I love always having fully stocked chest of cooked stam/hp food and mead :3 my partner rarely uses the mead tho
Introduce them to the power of Tasty mead!
That would be amazing, especially with how common troll raids are (especially with the increased raid rate)
Imagine having raids enabled ๐
I get that, I often times forget just how handy they are
wait hold on, I dont think ive made any tasty ones
Raids are fun, plus its more opportunities for a few of the rarer trophies. Such as the Rancid and Wraith.
Don't have to imagine, I have them turned up to 2x and difficulty on hard
I love combat but I also love tending my base and building lol
So you've made the bad stamina pots that shouldn't be used because of how awesome Tasty is? ๐ญ
Definitely do, tasty mead is wildly good
yes..... at least used 20 minor/medium stam on my own D:
Yeah, Tasty has its own set of rules that makes it useful in situations where you won't be able to even use other meads. Such as swimming.
Yes but healing pots aren't hp regen.
So if you swig a Tasty your natural +4 regen drops for 10s.
Oooooo spooky. ๐
I carry a full stack when I am serpent hunting. Due to a time when my boat got destroyed. Haven't died since.
Stamina > health
Its such a short time period, its never even been an issue.
will definitelly make loads of em haha even for like harvesting and stuff, we overfarm stuff so much anyways.
Same lol
But the point of it is you can absolutely go ham and bottom out your stamina bar, take a swig, and in about 5s of just walking to dodge be at max stamina again.
its just in my first few encounters against monsters id kite for a while to regen and didnt properly read the tasty tooltips too
farmer vikings
Its better to have too much than not enough. Especially when you need it.
Tasty reduces kite time, in a nutshell.
If I was using all our mats and meat all the time tho would be another thing ๐
winter storage full of flour sacks
never thought iron would still be used past swamp
I miss being able to eat meat in Valheim ๐ญ
vege run ๐
Never stop needing iron ๐
Currently sitting on 2k onion seeds, a barrel full on onions and an iron chest full of onion soup
Its used a LOT. Stock up. At least once you get to Mistlands it becomes even easier to have chests full of iron.
Even Mistlands gear uses a good bit of iron.
One good swamp run should set you up pretty good, an iron chest full (plus fully upgraded armor and weapons) has me abd my brother sitting pretty well. Good enough that we're building with it
we struggled so much to find some at the beginning but yeah we farming lots of it atm
our first swamp biome had like 3 crypt and that was it, this one next to plain had 9 on its own
Not bad
Iron is how I got my swimming to 93 ๐
Yeah, its been ages since I have found a swamp with more than 14 crypts in it. I think the days of 24+ crypts are over, with the new biomes added.
Probably, still have a few in my old world XD
now we gotta go explore again and find that damn yagluth stone, never seen that boss. Good excuse for hunting more serpent meat ๐
Thats a hard one sometimes
I spot it more often than I find a stone for it. Its huge and on or near shore lines. So sailing around is often the best way to find it.
Yagluth is my favorite boss vibe tbh.
He's metal af.
His trophy does look awesome on my front exterior wall.
The whole aura during is fight is so good too (unless you cheese it...)
I just need to figure out good lighting for him when its dark, etc...
oh, well hopefully we can find one fast altho wont complain to get more black metal or kill more than 1 vile.
Hopefully they make BM more useful after the plains. I use most of it for tons of BM chests.
yeah but usually with stone pillars they make them grounded
we only had like 140-150BM ish from our small plain biome with upgrades and stuff it wont be enough for 2
Only the unbreakable ones. Break able ones are just normal.
I love wiping out villages, so it gets to be a real pain to sail around and gather it all. ๐
thank god for moder helping a bit with traveling with ores
+300 weight is decent
wish cart wouldnt be ass
Yeah, that can help carry the ore to the boat in fewer trips.
Makes you feel like a real viking
Cart adds +700kg without penalty.
How are you defining ass?
Just moving it around I mean
loxen cart when?
oh theres a small rock that you cant really see too bad gotta go backward and go around it!
It sucks on rough terrain. So you have to be able to flatten it.
Lox*
that would be dope beast of burden style
Haldor has one ๐ญ
I still have hope for a lox cart.
I use loxen for plural since its so close to Ox
I only use a cart to mass farm wood atm
The dev who made them has confirmed the plural is just lox.
I gotta try taming something too eventually
Makes sense, since there is almost always 3 of them. Even though I have seen singles and just two often enough.
Boar are the ones I do most often. I used to do wolves, but a certain event made that a waste of time. I love hunting Lox too much to bother with taming them.
Eiktheir helps, you can also swim with the cart. Ill often need to move it while its full of metals and such
(I have X numbed of spaces so I'm gonna use 'em)
Taming lox is a fun adventure ๐
That plus they're always getting out or breaking stuff
Only if you like major pains in your rear.
At least to check out the taming/breed, we dont really need any kind of meat tbh haha this games got it all its insane ๐
They aggro over anything, and destroy anything around them,. Then if you use earth walls, they stack up on each other, and still get out. I'll just hunt them.
seen those reddit post after a raid where they lost all their tames so thats why im not tempted to go all in on that
Yeah, you have to protect them well, for sure. Or not have them at your base, and visit them only when you have to, to cut down on raid chances.
I just put them in their own little houses. It protects them well enough to keep at my bases.
If you have found trader in swamps, you can buy ingredient for mead that helps with taming.
oh I didnt spot that hmmm
Lox is the only tame I never go for lol
I think I bought everything there, must have missed something.
constantly going back so I can put feasts everywhere ๐
Its called Animal Whispers or something close to that.
The ingredient is ||Pungent pebbles||.
ah I think its the one item we havent gotten then
but my precious valuables! get so many at this stage of the game
I have yet to find her to even use it before I go to Ashlands. Since I usually only tame boars until then. We might have found her in time for the wolves, but if we did, I didn't think to use it.
Bog witch is the eternal money sink.
Which is a large part of why they made her. She was asked for, for years. IE things to spend the coin on.
Yep, and what cool things she sells!
Agreed. I do like most of it.
Bog witch was a fantastic addition
She has the coolest hut, too.
so there was only haldor at the start and the cosmetic trader? I only got those 3 with the witch.
Only Haldor at first.
Hildir was added in 2023 summer.
Only thing I like about her is the tower, and the trophy from the tomb.
How do I stop dying horribly and constantly in the ashlands
Plus even more trophies from the raids.
aaah I only played up to mountain/start of plains back then idr much
Don't go there? Its what I would prefer to do. ๐
Lol that is a good idea, but I need to get the blue gem
So I need to survive one more fortress at least
Yeah, I know. Pure wishful thinking...
I so hate the Ashlands, and its not just because of dying. Its just so ugly. I just hate being there.
Personally I like the Ashlands
cant wait to die there ๐ but ill start by dieing in the mistland.
Although there are definitely some design choices I question
What is the main cause of deaths?
alright i take it back, i said mistlands was S tier... not when you go t a bajillion ruins and less than half even have basements and STILL looking for more than 5 cores to your name... get me out. my jump key needs a rest. done.
63.5h played last two weeks out of my 83 haha
Slowpush with campfires and fighting only when rested+bonmass. Also prob pillar Up next to a Fortress and destroy Spawners First ?
Huh, I am usually doing good after about 10 mines. They are harder to find than I'd like, though.
By doing good I mean 15 cores plus 10 or more to spare. Having 9 pieces of the seal is also nice.
I drag my feet getting to the Ashlands, so I spend way more time in the Mistlands than I need to.
its been a horror show. ive been to at least 5 infested towers that dont have basements, at least 3 mines have zero cores, i'm currently at 9 but i've been going and going for hours and irl days since i got my first 5 and im up to 4 and almost out of stacks of food
havin that bear trophy rng
Yeah, I've been on a massive Lox hunt the last couple of days, to restock. My wife also decided she wanted the Vile armor set, so still trying to get that trophy.
She usually goes into the Ashlands with the root armor.
So at least she is trying out some new armor.
Last playthrough I went to Ashlands with vilebone chest and legs and carapace helmet.
that vilebone set looks dope but using slash weapon anyways, maybe ill make a root set do be using bow often, love sneaking to a village and kill em 1 by 1.
Mobbed up on by crowds of everything
Bigger mobs can hurt each other (dealing friendly fire damage), use that for your advantage.
another infested mine, ONE core. that makes 5, so i can just not have a galder table built i'll take it.
Yeah, thats what I often do, switch between what I need. Even making Eitr.
thats what i had to do to get mist gear with the first 5, but like... ugh. its fine now that i have 10. no way im switching back and forth destroying the refinery and making black table over and over, as much as this mist rng is painful this seed
oh also lol, the other bit of rngeezus has forsaken me is one mine actually did have a queen marker in it, i followed it directly back to my boat and to the huge mistlands island that im certain i completely explored... so the queen has to be on a seperate island somewhere behiind that island
so i guess i get more time to find more mines and cores at least XD
Yeah but think of all the nice build pieces it brings
So its been a bit since I've been there but make sure you have fall back points that you can use to make space and meads handy
She may end up doing something like that if we don't find this trophy for the head piece. She has done fine in just root armor before, but I am pretty sure the extra armor points are going to help.
Yes, extra armor from helmet and no movement speed penalty and better armor than Fenris from vilebone pieces. I managed quite fine until I got mats for Ask set.
Now if only I could get her to use shields...
You can always return to the plains after having set foot in the Ashlands.
I just managed to get several trophies from lower biomes after having defeated Yagluth. Including the Wraith a few days ago and the Fenring and Beserker today.
Thats what we are doing. We are in the Mistlands. Just she suddenly decided she wanted the Vile set. So thats what we are doing. ๐ We needed to restock on lox meat anyways. Just we are done doing that, so just trophy hunting now.
I surprisingly havent died yet and fully looted the first infested mine with 5 cores ๐ฅ
My Rocky went x.x yesterday. ๐ฆ
I sat by him and petted him multiple times, which seemed to restore him to
I had spent at least a week in-game on a building project, only coming in to sleep.
We haven't even found him this play through. I haven't actually looked. Just keeping my eyes open for a different kind of rock.
My friends and I have yet to find one in our multiplayer world.
Yeah, there are 4 of us. Only my wife and I have ever found him before.
I only found mine because I kept checking every stone. I didn't know just how different the rocks look.
Not very different. He is not easy to notice.
time to keep an eye out when venturing far from spawn then!
thought hed be in some kind of poi or something
Last time we found him in a black forest. Not sure how much of a role being far from spawn plays in finding him.
Rocky can start spawning 1000m from centre of the world, yep ๐
Non-freedom yards
That may be why, then. Just not looking while far enough from "home".
Other requirements for him include it has to be between 5m and 20m above water level and can only spawn in Meadows, Black Forest, Swamps and Mountains, tho you will usually not find it in latter 2 because of the height requirement. ๐
omg
Finding it isn't exactly even on any of our priority lists. So we don't really care that we haven't found it. Its even more of a novelty item in a digital world, than anything important.
second time i get killed by stone golem because fall damage
i looked forever, none
Its important to stay above 100 HP in the mountains. Of course, even then, I'll manage to find a way to fall twice, during the same fall. So die anyways.
yeah gotta start to respect stone golems more
i've got handful of deaths and most are in the mountains
Iron buckler and mace dispatches them quickly ๐ (golems)
I just do my best to not fight them near any fall sites. Then not to miss any blocks.
I wasn't ready for that keep forgetting every biome can get spicy at night
i'm just trying to run past them but keep getting stuck on stuff and then they hit me and wheeeeeeew there i go flying down the mountain again ๐
Plains night creature was a bit... underwhelming? Expected more
One of the first things I did was learn to "dance" with the golems. After that they rarely hit me, unless I am fighting them, then they just hit my shield. 99% of the time. Mistakes always happen.
Just felt like I was tickling them with a sword
Swords can do the job, but the iron mace is probably among the best weapons to use.
fighting them seems safer than trying to run past them at this point for me haha especially since i main mace ^^
but their drop is useless to me so dont bother fighting them.. instead i die to them ๐
We had like 3 or 4 on our mountain near the silver ore haha
ya viles are beefy, vile and lox are kind of bear and troll 2.0
I just hate it's just bear 2.0, same moves too right. Only killed 1.
spirit damage is big against viles dont forget theyre undead
I use the Tower Shields, and once you have the iron one, they hardly harm you with a block. With the BM shield, they don't harm you.
Why did I trash my silver sword like an idiot smh
i've yet to hunt viles. their armorset doesn't seem too appealing to me
Its also useful again in the Ashlands. So whack yourself again.
I guess ill just have to make another one i like the silver burn effect, satisfying.
You can make due with other weapons. but it is one of the better DPS types in Ashlands. Against about half of the creatures.
Which are the ones you will run into the most often.
The crystal battle axe works decently well too.
Also useful against viles.
Meh meant to scrap all my old gear into obliterator just feels bad it was max level
I only scrap my earliest gear. The rest I put up on my walls. Plus I also make use of armor stands.
question for the super nerds: is there a simple ratio for stagger bar increase between parrying, blocking, and taking straight damage? like parrying damage is 1/2 the the stagger youd get if you block and 1/4 youd get if you were straight up hit?
Or is it some crazy algebra action?
Pretty sure someone has a sheet pinned up here somewhere that covers all of that.
i know sevhran(sp?) has a sheet for being able to parry a monster with which shield or weapon or something like that, but idk if that includes anything about stagger
Iโm more interested in the ratio between taking damage and parrying damage, not so much how much health and block armor do I need to parry
I'm positive the stagger limit is 40% of maximum HP for players.
Its titled "blocking breakpoints" so I'd assume it covers stagger. I've never even looked at it, since I like to learn these things in game, through experience.
sure, but as far as taking stagger damage, itโs definitely more if youโre straight up, hit as opposed to parrying, but what is that ratio?
does that make sense? parrying a 2 star might fill 1/4 my stagger bar even tho i blocked the full damage, whereas getting hit maxes out my bar
I only ever get staggered when I forget to eat. Which I do far too often. Still, stagger is not something I worry about, since I either get staggered and killed, or am able to walk/run away and eat before I fight some more.
I have been playing as a mage a lot and want to try a melee/ranged setup for ashlands but it seems so hard without trollstav and staff of the wild
Its hard because your not used to it. I stay melee, so think playing a mage is hard.
I am pretty bad in the first place as mage anywua lol
You got any recommendations for first elemental weapon?
i actually found melee easier and faster to kill than magic
I made the axes and the greatsword and I am using the ask armor
That was my impression when I tried out magic, but only while I was in the Mistlands. Like I said, I stay melee.
flame tower shield and lightning sword are pretty easy mode
Don't u gotta farm magic level for it to really feel "better"
I do love that tower shield, but of course I do. ๐
If you mean gems, iolite grants good damaging effects especially with the Berserkir axes.
Pretty much true for all the combat skills.
True mage just comes abit late ig
ya i just looked at the blocking breaking point thing, it didnt answer my questions, it actually didnt address the amount of stagger taken from successfully blocking and parrying just if your block or stagger will fail
I have never made a tower shield. I can give it a try with sword
Yep. Part of why I do not switch to it. I am not throwing away my combat skills. I work too hard for them.
I wanna make all the weapons and stuff
or im just too dumb to see it among all the equations idk
Magic is quite strong even when low level, Ember staff is strong offensive and staff of protection strong defensive tool.
It makes possible to stay out of enemy range and deal good damage.
Any recommendations for food? I have the fader feast. I amnnot sure if i should do 2 hp 1 stam, or use that feast in place of one of those
Its the best thing to do, especially if its your first play through. Find out what you like, not what the rest of us like.
I like HSF (piquant pie, roasted crust pie, Ashlands feast) currently with my setup.
As Joel said ๐ the magic is pretty strong even on 0 lvl, leveling it up just makes it even stronger
I'm really curious to give it a try once we get there
We should find our yagluth stone tonight and prepare and max our gear for mistland
I think its a good idea to try everything. Even after all this time, I still play around with the atgeir. ๐
I never even noticed those as I was having shroom shakes and marinated greens lol. Thanks for the recommendation.
I've only used sword and regular armor
Tbf, very few things beat atgeirs performance ๐
Check preparation table, pies are made there.
Fortunately the wood weapons give us a nice easy way to try out more, and get skill points while doing it.
I just don't like even using it. It feels so weird to me. Poke, poke, poke, twirl.
Hmmm wood weapons
Very nice. Hadn't used it since plains. There was no prep table last time I played so I am getting used to it
Yeah it was added year ago when Bog Witch update was introduced to the game.
If you are used to shields i can understand it ๐ took me quite a few hundred hours to even give a try to some two handed weapons
just feel so comfy behind my round/banded shield, almost made a tower shield to try it out.
I played through once when plains was end game and then once through mistlands, and then again with ashlands but I never did the bog witch stuff yet
I actually mix things up a good bit, so am comfortable with the sledges and battlaxes. Just the atgeir and I have never gotten along. ๐ I keep trying, though.
I never got used to tower shields, so i stay with the two smaller ones ๐
Im still waiting to find some Mjolnir-esque weapon ๐
Its a very different feel to it, but I like its reliability. Just block. No worry about missing a parry and getting trashed.
frostner being the closest I think
So far, it is.
its been hard trying not to look at too much stuff, I wanna keep the surprise.
I think I was sword/mace main in my first time ever. Although I made Crystal battleaxe.
That one is the only one handed mace looking like a hammer, yep ๐ tho we have a nice brick-on-a-stick later
I feel like im on withdrawal right now waiting for my buddy to log on to open the server.
I do love Demolisher. Looks cool, its huge, and is a big step up from the iron hammer. Even looks like Mjolner. Just in XXX size.
-# Psst Asatru meant Klossen probably.

*Marvels Mjรถlnir
not even gonna look at those, but cool names!
Yeah, in lore its described more like being a rock on a stick.
So the stone axe is probably closest to how its described in the lore.
Just made of dwarven metal, whatever that is.
Well as far as i know it was usually depicted with triangular hammer head( kinda pointy on top and sloping down to the sides), compared to the block that is Demolisher and marvel depiction ๐
I am talking about the Edda's, not artist interpretations of those. Plus there are at least 7 versions of them. In one its described as being like a fist. Its the one I have read the most often, so not really sure about how other versions describe it. I think its the translation out of the version from Norway.
GoW's mjolnir takes the win for the best depiction of the weapon honestly
Marvel's always looked like a toy hammer you could buy at the store to me
Yeah, its pretty awesome in GoW. I never played it because it was console only for so long, but I own it now that its on PC.
Been itching to try it myself but the price tags aren't something I tolerate lol
Anyway, perhaps somewhere down the line at valheim's "ending" we'll get a mjolnir or something resembling it. Though the frostner is basically a spitting version of it
Yeah, I only bought it a month or two ago, because it was around 40% off.
I was thinking about some museum pieces that were found (tho the only one that looks like the ones i remember seems to be a forgery so i might be misremembering, again...), not really sure about exact description from eda since i only read it in my native language which has to be heavily translated so you might very well be right ๐
I do really like Frostner on my key chain, and necklace. ๐
Not bad, it dropped 60% during the steam autumn sale that just finished
The sequel is a whole other story tho lol
I have to rely on translations. So no way for me to know how well they even did. ๐
I've watched my elder son play both, he liked both, and they looked fun to me. So I'll give them a try some day. I hope.
It would help if I'd stop playing Valheim all the time.
It's one of those niche situations where if you're a person who enjoys singleplayer storytelling games, you'll have a blast playing it.
It's one of the best ones out there
Actually found an example of what i was talking about and it isnt known to be a forgery ๐
https://www.britishmuseum.org/collection/object/H_2000-0301-1
I like them. There is another I am far more likely to play first, though. Ghost of... something something. Blanking on it. ๐
Why does Njord hate me so much! ๐
Ghost of Tsushima?
Ghost of Tsushima probably
Yeah, but unless it is in Thor's hands, aren't they all forgeries? ๐
Very much true xD
TW3 still holds my top spot for the singleplayer rpg games, likely until the fourth installment arrives
TW3... not coming up with that name.
Total War 3?
I like the Total War series, but pretty sure thats not what your referencing.
The witcher 3
Oh... Thats really not MMO tho...
AH! Yes, I like that one too. I have played it.
My bad, brain outage while multitasking
Yeah, I quit playing MMO's about 15 years ago.
All good xD just really threw me off
Closest I get are games like Valheim, where I can chose who is on line with me.
welp fk it gonna start a yolo solo game as my friend still not around ๐
I like solo. Its just more fun with my wife or friends, plus my wife.
Fair enough, they require a lot of time investment, except a select few where progress isn't a "Update X came out you have to grind it or you experience FOMO"
I managed to find my first character so I definitelly did plains, had a lox cape on and moder buff, been so long I barely remember.
Yeah, that was another thing that was ticking me off at the time, but it was mostly that a lot of people SUCK.
Fortunate your first character looks normal
Mine has no armor on, looks like a monkey and has a feather cape on, which only means I was doing one thing on it last
Indeed, 20% of its usage rate is during the mistlands, 80% is launching yourself out of the world
Yeah. When I first played, it was plains only, No actual drop from Yag. Just a place holder item.
I typically stay away from MMORPGs that have raid systems & similar due to reliance on other players, clanning up and other time consuming things. Unless you decide to play it privately with a friend without caring too much, like how I'm doing with POE2 right now
I liked the Ashlands much better back then. Just fallen meteors and Surtlings running around all over.
Yep, once you have done few mistland dungeons and get certain resources you can make it, not really sure about what "stage" it is within the biome ๐
never knew some monsters were scared of fire ๐ฎ
never really held or used a torch too tbf, was wondering why this neck kept running away from me.
Seeing as how it requires refined eitr and the galdr table, I'd probably call it around the middle of your mistlands playthrough
Got to do a bit of exploring, grinding and processing before you obtain it
Ideally you have 15 cores by then. So yeah, later more than early.
I usually just say "you get it in mistlands" since everyone does different stuff at different time in each biome ๐
First time in Ashlands. Someone please tell me there is actuall a land mass and its not just all these rocky spires in the water....
Jokes on you I got mine in the ashlands
Indeed you want the 15 cores but you really need only 5, which can change the hypothetical "stage" of the biome quite a bit ๐
There is land, but you might wish you never found it when you do. ๐
There is, you want to sail closer to middle areas.
Haven't been to the biome since I tried it in the beta client, did they ease up on you getting nuked as soon as you land on the shore?
Or do I still have to look forward to playing 30 minutes of wave defense while the base of operations gets set up lol
Depends. You can still land in ugly places. Much like could happen in the swamps.
Spawn rates were adjusted to not have as much but you can still get overwhelmed. Not as badly as during early PTB.
Might be more like 2 hours. They attack often.
I see. Maybe it'll go differently this time as I'm going in with the "new" setup of using the shiny big green mistlands axe
Good to hear it was adjusted, alongside them stating the deep north's landing will be more forgiving
I hope so. Its bad enough I hate the Ashlands. I hope I like the North.
Aurora borealis, ice, frost, snow, ominous silence. My kind of place
And let's of course not forget the ๐ฆญ
Lets hope. I hated the Ashlands just sailing there. Yet it managed to get even worse once I landed.
There was this comment in one of Hervor videos which makes me chuckle every time.
Yeah I saw that one as well, made me burst out laughing the first time I read it lol
Way too true
There will be no jumping off the ship in deep north, we have catapults now
Going into the deep north with a catapult with all your gear, ready to explore, then you hear your friend say "Oops I miscalibrated it" mid flight
Since about 2 weeks the game crashes multiple times within an hour
- i checked the steamfiles
- reinstalled the game
All to no avail. I get a unity error popup and the game closes losing allot of stuff in progress
Errors can happen at any random interaction
Im on an AMD build
With a GPU Rx9070 xt
aaah the classic tree that falls on you and kills ya hahaha
I think boats and structure should have innate resistances to things
I hate the idea that if a monster attacks me on my boat, the biggest danger to said boat is me.
#valheim-help is the best channel for help.
oh okay dang its kinda hard to miss those big stones huh
its like a big hand kinda form too
Yeah, but man, that death squitto did a number on my Karve, and followed me FOREVER. If I had hit it too? I would have never made it to land.
So yes, it would be great if I could defend myself without sinking my own boat.
Not just that, I just feel like that, say, boars shouldnt be able to damage, say, stone bricks
Lox bugged me the most. To the point where I just hunt them now.
Hello everyone, how are you?
I hope so.
I need help installing just one mod in Valheim. I'd like one specifically for mining. I saw one that mines everything with just one hit.
Can someone please help me install this mod?
Thank you.
#mods-issues is probably your best bet.
I use loxes to train my bow skill
The result is that I absolutely flooded my friend's base with lox meat and skin
Its crazy how quick you can kill a lox with Bonesnap and needle arrows. Of course, its equally crazy how fast I can do it with Porcupine.
Which is great, since I am restocking for Mistlands food.
Man Growth tilts me sooo much T.T
soloing easily a fuling village dodging/parrying everything and then 3 growths pop out of nowhere and attack me -.-
I was hunting loxes with crudebow and fine bow, and regular wooden arrows
I typically massacre every herd I come across, can never have too much meat, unless I'm past the plains of course
Kind of like fighting them too, very relaxing
I hunted quite a lot of lox in my latest run during the plains era, with the new Maulclaws mostly which are pretty effective.
#memes-and-clips message
when they release 1.0 will we need to start a new world?
New content shoud generate in unexplored areas ๐ so as long as you dont go exploring DN now you should be ok
anyone want to start a server with me?
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 is the place to look at. ๐
gosh this aint my day to play time to log out -.- 3-4 death in the last 20min ish
Ayo! Iโve just reached just a little over 100 hrs after 2 weeks of playing valheim (I need to touch grass lol) anyways Iโve started to notice that I donโt have any space left for anything in my inventory and Iโm basically writing this to ask if there is anything to increase space or am I just limited to what we have and then have to suffer cuz I try to carry stuff thatโs good against certain types of enemies?
The inventory space is one thing that you need to recon with in this game. Many have spoken about it and complained, and given ideas. It hasn't changed and so I expect that's by design.
Are you into Black Forest yet?
Iโm currently at the plains and ready to go to the mist biome
Portals are my best friend when it comes to inventory management.
Ive notice that having portals literally everywhere seems to be the way to go
or at least bring one with you, yes.
Not necessarily everywhere ๐ but having one in your pocket is very handy indeed
Yeah I always have a portal with me or atleast I have portals stationed around areas I am a lot and then go back and fourth
Also idk if I was stupid for this but is there anywhere in the tutorial bird thingy that explains how to parry? It literally took me 75 hrs until I got sick of doing zero damage to enemies so I had to look it up
Yep, he has a message for that, not exactly sure when it pops up but i would think when you make a first shield
Thatโs possible I lowkey got sick of the bird especially cuz the sounds it made so I turned it off pretty early ๐ญ
Yeah, that would explain it ๐
Yup lol
Stupid idea but my gosh that bird sound teleporting around all the time drove me nuts especially because in the beginning it would try to explain everything and it just drove me crazy
wait is there a voice chat in valheim or i was blind for the two pass years?
There is not a voice chat in game, only text chat, tho people usually use discord if they want to be in voice chat.
they should add that
i mean its 2025
Yo prox chat on a public server in this game would go hard imo
#suggestions are open ๐ but keep in mind that its a singleplayer game primarily, with the option to co-op with friends
Imagine all the PvP servers with clans and stuff talking about their plans and youโve got some spy to roll up and listen through the walls
so why the fuck we can play with 32 player at the same time
๐
Because you use mods ๐ normally the world cap is 10
Speaking of that does boses scale in hp depending on the players on the server or is it based on local player amount only?
i nerver use mods
They scale up to 5 people, yes ๐
well only in building
They you cant have world with 32 people in it at the same time
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Creature_Level#Effects
here regarding the enemy scaling btw ๐
That makes sense atleast the multiplayer experience is pretty awesome imo. The main issue is resources. Like iron is the worse of them all. I highly doubt there is enough for me and my friends to build with it ๐ญ
That the world modifiers are for ๐
You can set the resource rate to be higher
mmmmmmmmmmh
No option for respawns tho? Or is that only mods?
umm any clue why I can't craft the bear claws I got all mats and everything but show it black out.
Respawns?
For like ores and dungeons/caves
2 Bear hide
2 Bear paw
4 Leather scraps
?
yep
Ah, no those dont respawn and you cant make them to without mods.
I see
I have everything need.
Might have to use that for my single player world as Iโd like to play on that for more then just a couple of weeks
There should still be more than enough for all the potential 10 players in the world ๐
you need a pay bru you are actively working for the lazy guys
Aight thatโs good to hear tho
Do you have lvl2 workbench?
Hmmm got the resources on you tho?
yes
Or else try and rebuild it?
Huh, weird... Try to put away one of the materials (whole stack of it, the 2 hides for example) and get a new ones, sometimes it can happen that the stack is bugged.
how meny hours did you play valheim?!
A lot
i can't even see in your steam profile
Thats because i have it set on friends only ๐
hen
umm
can you just tell me? or you are hiding something on your steam profile ๐
Bit over 1,1K
I even just rebuilt everything and still not not letting But i can craft everything else.
Bro tryna squeeze out information he doesnโt need to know ๐ญ
dang thats crazy i am only at like 125h
Thatโs still quite a lot tho
If you are not against using commands you could try to throw away all the stacks of materials you have now and then spawning new ones. If that would work it would mean one of the stacks was bugged.
tons of playtime in the game
dude my friend did 800 in 4 monts
Not crazy really, few people i know have more than 4K
๐ญ
they have no life
Im about to do the same ๐ญ
I reached 110 hrs in just 2 weeks
understandable for the first few weeks
but 4 months 800h, kek. That is some serious sh commitment
Hate it when you build your base then find a better spot only to feel the need to build a better base there.
I still main & build my 2nd base ever, on a pre-field map
thats 3 hours a day, do you at least got a job
๐ญ
school?
i play at work, all 3 jobs :p
Nope
trying to get one bossz to get a better PC, it wont run Valheim well at all ๐
are you 80 years old or something
need it for....more files :p
It not that I donโt want to work but getting a job at the age of 20 is like tryna find a needle in a haystack
I wished
at 20 you don`t job, you slave away for xp
Itโs the worse ๐ญ
nah, Ashland is the worse
*chewed and spat out *** is the line
The worst biome is actually the ocean
I have no idea what you mean ๐ญ
you cant build stuff there and you drown
Nah itโs chill
ocean is fine chill, u just go straight to get away from anything
Thats only if you have a boat
Just stay on yo boat and you chillin
love the ocean
About time to make one lol
let me execute haha.exe
thank you
haha
Dw I got the memo
Anyways give me more inventory space man ๐ญ
Itโs worse then Minecraft and that game has the worst inventory system ever too ๐ญ
i got to much space :p
We will see if we get something for that ๐
We can only hope
inventory is kind of part of the fun. You gotta make choices about what you want to do and what you need for your trip.
like in Diablo
I do wish that the stuff you wear didnt take space, though
Well atleast portals are easy to make so you can keep traveling back and fourth when on an adventure
wish i could throw stuff thruu the portal as its open
But itโs really not practical for the long term of the game imo
that would be better than more inv
Lowkey want this now
u go back to find a massive pile of trash
kick a mob in the portal :p
Gonna end up like the nether portal from Minecraft lol
Hello :)
hey im having an issue where valheim has no sound. i tried reinstalling and verifying file integrity, nothings working. i tried other games on steam and their sound is working. anyone encountered this have any ideas?
#valheim-help Is the best channel to go to for problems.
is the iron axe or battleaxe better for tree chopping?
I find the battle axe to be more fun, and it hits multiple targets, so you can do more than one tree at a time. So if your growing your own tree farm, I think its better.
These Archery Targets they added are so much fun lol
I need to see if it works with the Arbalast. Or however its spelled.
I did not take into account mtp. you have a good point.
Its not as useful for "wild" trees, but when you plant them yourself, close together... yeah, I prefer using battle axes. I also love them for chopping down fuling villages.
I just use the sledge for the fuling villages.
but then again, I'm a club man.
@gray sand what's the vegan run up to
You refuse joke about exothermic reactions and now you want an UPDATE?
๐ i've prolly heard every bad chem joke there is

mods ^

Swamp on VH.
aboms on vh are fun
Finishing up bronze equipment before making landfall.
really require you to learn the entirety of the fight and not just parry 123 parry 123
The sad part is I don't get any new foods in the swamp ๐ญ
Muckshake is no cuz ooze is "blob meat" for lack of a better term.
You're killing them to get it.
i found rocky in my building / deep north prep run

okay im starting to get sick of frostner pushing everyone away from me finally
silver sword or crystal baxe?
Welcome to why I hate the weapon.
Silver sword goated
sumtin wong with my game..... i have smelted over 600 iron now but i have none every time i log out and back in all my metal disapears
i'll give it a try once i get my longship home
never had a sword in valheim before actually
they're great
slash is a great dmg type and swords don't have multi target penalty meaning you can cleave multiple stuff and do full dmg
Swords bugged and objectively better until MtP fixed.
๐ค have they confirmed bug
too hard to get a reaction out of you, eh?
activation energy too high
Too noble to even do anything
Seeing xenon bond with fluorine for the first time shook me
something something argon I cant do more
in chivalry 2, the agathian successor to the throne is called Argon II. He's nobility.
Both of course, silver sword is one of my fav looking weapons
I basically am unable to do a run where I don't make the sword
sword it is then
Favorite looking sword... you mean you want it just for the looks? Maybe you could make a mod that makes some other sword or weapon look like the silver sword ๐
If you wanna do a run without actually using the sword.
I like Krom
still hella fun to use, not just for Yagluth
also enjoy the use for growths and yag, but also wolves etc its still real nice for all that I also tend to upgrade it a lot, often to 4
Krom has a history to me, I killed my first 2 star seeker with it, naked with no armour as all the armours I had were in that mine... only used food and a level 1 or 2 krom
starred seekers arent fun
1 star aren't bad. but the 2 star makes me be careful. Same with soldiers. Are there even starred Gjalls anymore? I haven't seen one since I started playing again.
There are starred Gjalls, but they're night spawns only which despawn at dawn.
Haven't played this game in ages, and now I have to remember what on earth I'm supposed to be doing
Kill Odins enemies! Through any means necessary ๐
The answer appears to be adding light sources to my home, good lord I cannot see
And collecting unhealthy amounts of tar
Heh, I log in for a quick base sweep before work - it is night and I hear giggling outside, so I run out to off the unwelcome guests. Two minutes later I have collected twelve black metal. The little green guys are like locusts at night, I'll never run out of the metal at least...
Huh, haven't fought any. Not sure how many were at night versus day, but its been enough I should have seen at least 1.
Yeah, I kill so many of them I end up working on filling a second black metal chest.
Every play through.
Gjall are solitary, so the chance of running into a starred one is not that big. I've killed a couple of one-star and saw a two-star once - I ran away.
(Feather cape, no barley wine)
Soldiers are solitary too. I run into 1 stars of them pretty often, and ran into a 2 star just a day or two ago. Those are at night too. I have not seen a single Gjall with a star and my wife and I have killed enough to have 17 trophies in our game, and we have 11 in our current game with friends. We run the Mistlands at night very frequently. So its been really weird to have not seen at least one.
Yeah that's rng for you. Starred gjall are scary things. I can't for the life of me remember if their ticks are starred too or if they're just regular ticks.
A swarm of two-star ticks out in the mist would be a nightmare
I don't recall. Its been over a year since I last fought one. It was a 2 star. I don't think its ticks were starred, but maybe.
It easily took 20 belly shots, and I think I was still using Draugr Fang at the time.
Nowadays I stay away from Mistlands during night just because of starred Gjalls. One of my few deaths in Mistlands is due to sudden 2 star behind back.

Hmmmm maybe planting 150 turnips was a little overkill
Nah, good stash
are there any steam codes or vouchers for valheim, missed the sale by 1 day.
ok im srsly gettin P.O. my metals keep disappearing from my storage chest ive lost about 600 iron ,about 100 silver and now just teleported back to base and 150 blak metal ore is gone it was there just b4 i went for a swamp run
it sounds like you have an uninvited guest.
playin solo
ive prob smelted 900 ish iron i made 2 lvl 3 maces and lvl 1 armor and a few nails so im missing about 600 ish
Thats rough
i had to get more iron after the first 300 disapeared then what was left after makin gear the second batch disapeared so i went for a 3rd run for more now thats gone
I would suggest you restart your steam client
fire up the game fresh
maybe it
is a syncing problem but i doubt it
well it happens randomly to random ore or ingots from the 1 particular chest
doin fresh boot steam and game
yaa i broke the small chest and made iron chest so now i only got 17 BM ore in it took a screenshot as im smelting more copper and tin that disappeared so i can compare when i get back from trip to new swamo for more irons :S
all that sounds mind boggling
I know that just once I managed to convert a couple ingots into some other ingots by pure chance while quickly managing one of my chests. It had to do with plitting stacks and closing the chest while dragging them into inventory, I think? Point being, I couldn't manage to replicate it and that was that.
Entire stacks of stuff disappearing entirely sounds very suspicious and game breaking imo, but I guess it's fine since you seem to be mostly unfazed by it and continuing playing? ๐
Are you using any mods?
MANY MODS !!! lol
Yeah, try to disable those ๐then turn one by one to find the one causing it
Probably it will be some that has to do with inventory, chests, items in general ๐
well if i disable mods to try to figure out the 1 doing it it will brick my entire save and i will lose all my stuff
Either that or asking folks in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202550198174486599 can help too if you list your mods.
Yeah, asking there to see if anyone isnt aware of certain mod doing this ๐
pretty sure its armory causing my ore to disappear it doesnt follow ultra stacks and any ore i smelt in that station it comes out as a /30 stack at full weight until i merge it to the /500 stack not sure why the BM has vanished tho i cant even refine it yet
also usin crafty boxes and autostore but this is a new mod profile and my V+ config is a bit borkked no issues with old mod profile with mostly the same mods
I thought about this, it would be sweet if they could tweak it so the boat behaves like a cart when you are standing on it. Carts don't get hit by your swings as long as you are connected to it, I can't imagine making a similar exception for boats would be an insurmountable task. You'd still be able to "dismantle" it by hopping off and doing it from the side. Greater risk of losing the nails though, that would be a drawback.
That's however a tradeoff I'd be willing to make to not destroy the boat under my feet trying to get at a wraith or deathsquito...
Does the call to arms update make tower shields more usable?
I havent played the patch yet
Yes, you have less movement speed penalty
Oh nice, did anything else change?
Regarding the tower shields or generally?
tower shields mostly. was there a new combat mechanic of some sort? does it work with the tower shields?
The movement speed penalty is pretty much all that changed about them afaik, there are few new mechanics in general, if you want detailed patchnotes you can look here https://valheim.com/news/patch-0-221-4-call-to-arms/ ๐
i dont want to read spoilers though :D, ill just wait until my next playthrough
are the new combat mechanics explained ingame?
The main one is, yep.
Bruh I swear whenever I'm looking for bonemass I just get empty cripts that are ridiculously full of iron
"Oh no, this stake is too juicy and the lobster too buttery." xD
I see no problem with that ๐
Same kinda, I've already got maxed weapons and armor for 2 people plus an iron chest full
I NEED that vegvisir though, I'm playing no map so all I get is my face turned in the right direction
I'm up to 6 stacks from just one branch of the crypt XD
dang, such lucky RNG you've got there
I know right XD
Can I borrow some of that rng real quick? Gotta do a quick swamp run
Set your resource modifier at maximum.
You get enough iron to last two Valheim days from one crypt.
Well I found my lost boat and it turns out it had 176 scrap iron
how'd you lose it in the first place tho or did it just break?
Ayo, is jack o lantern suppose to sound like a raging fire?:p
I forgot where it was
It's been ~1 year since I last played
