Agreed. I'm always leery of making eyescream now. I'm switching to skewer/onion soup & the swamp feast for this playthrough.
while in the mountains, I mean.
onions are absolutely goated but i prefer to save those too for salad and super salad
how do you move tamed boars? I'm still only through black forest, just realized my 1 star I cordoned off to tame won't be easy to move back to my base once it is tamed
tbh for that reason i tend to run 2hp since its easier to make
very painfully
by the time you get to salad, you should have an enormous farm.
you can use harpoon to drag boars around but it'll suck
nah i try not to farm too much
hence cloudberry
going to be tough. harpoon works, like miker said. You can also use fences for a run back to base, depending on how far it is, or try getting them on a boat.
oof
How far is it? You might be better off finding a new starred boar to tame.
is the karve big enough to hold one while it sails?
more of a challenge preventing it from wandering off the boat while you're sailing
yeah, I think so. I suspect the base I have is too close to spawn to get starred boars, so they feel rarer than I read they are
definitely big enough. challenge is keeping him on it.
ah well, worst case scenario I just make more boar sacrifice pits and call it even
You have to get more than 800m out to get starred boars. It's actually not that far.
its difficult for me to estimate distances on the map, it looks like most of the accessible meadows is centered around spawn (settled north of spawn but it is basically black forest and island end). I suppose Ican still set up a little boar farm here for kicks and make a portal when I find another burial chamber to raid
what does the parry bonus multiplier do? never really understood it
It multiplies block armor when parrying
oh so it just makes parrying easier since its more or less a statcheck right
The damage is reduced more so you can parry more damage than you can block
damn, bucklers are still the "meta" then
the buff that towershields gotten the last update dont matter that much afterall
And parrying was buffed too
ah yeah true
bit of a bummer cause i like the idea of being an impenetrable wall but running a "kit" like that in this game isnt really rewarded like it should be probably
too slow, too lethargic, aggro is hard to manage so you cant pull it off of your teammates efficiently
i wonder if there are any mods that make stuff like normal shields and towershields more useful
you can level them well beyond normal using CLLC type stuff but it doesn't fix the aggro and speed
its conceivable to use Bonemass to farm stamina with tower shields 🤷♂️
haven't really tried that playstyle though
Why react to enemy when you can just stagger it

anyone from asian ?
25 health 75 stamina. at least you were on the beat
good point scales, one style you might like is crowd control tank instead of aggro pull tank. use atgier, battleaxe, 2 hand hammer, they have pushback and stagger to peel off your friends
wait thats genius
i completely forgot about the hammers
im already using the atgier though, really good weapon
Yeah but im also oneshot with fenris gear lol
Why mace anyways?? Why not just use a sword? And whats wrong with bows? Just oneshot 90% of the enemies at a distance
I usually just tame them at my base because they will follow you when wild
Would you say turning off the teleport restriction for iron or silver ore is cheating?
It's an option in world modifiers to turn off portal restrictions, so it's valid and I don't see it as cheating.
play however you want to play, but most of the time i prefer not too. it feels more rewarding when i do it the hard old fashioned way
just preference
It's good to have preferences in weapon types/fighting styles too, would be bit boring IMO if everyone liked the same things.
can someone tell me where the block sheet is?
Look out for pinned messages in top corner.
i know someone mentioned that we have a block sheet somewhere that calculates how much block you need with what shield on what difficulty in order to parry and stuff
yeah thats where i was looking but i dont think i found it
nevermind got it
Should be in one of Scarlet's posts IIRC.
Does it matter if it is?
Someone is reading my sheet? 😭💛
It’s customizing your preferred play style. It’s not ‘cheating’ because you are not competing with anyone.
To me, it’s a quality of life thing. I don’t find fun in endlessly sailing my ores back and forth from source to base. For others, they don’t play with portals or maps. To each their own.
I just make new ore refining structures on the major islands
If the island has a Black Forest swamp and mountain it makes sense to base somewhere near all 3 or atleast 2 of them and ideally near the coast
I am playing with 2x resources tho to ease the grind
I’ve only just discovered on my most recent playthrough that it’s totally viable to do in the swamp as long as you have atleast 2 surtling spawners, I usually play where I do a huge haul filling the longship up with iron but I’ve decided to go with a more decentralised playstyle and it’s paying off
sure i guess but why use iron mace in plains?!
Is the question why iron mace or still "why not use sword"?
The iron mace works great in the plains. Plus you don't have to deal with the ridiculous knockback of Frostner. A sword is great too, but I still love Porcupine best. Once I can make it.
Biggest drawback of Frostner is how much it sucks in the very biome you get it. Every time I go back to the mountains and run into a golem I get reminded. "Oh yeah, should have brought the iron club. Doh!"
i'm still confused on why people ask how to play their own game...
like, why does the opinion of complete strangers that have 0 relevance in your playthrough matter at all?
when did people start losing thought/opinion independence?
Yeah, you can still beat a golem, of course, but it takes longer,
Yeah. It annoys me a bit that Frostner's blunt damage does not grow at all with upgrades
Especially with how much freakin silver it takes.
The amount of frost damage helps against seekers tho.
Fortunately Frostner and the silver sword become very usable in the Ashalnds.
i only use the pickaxe on golems. You guys use weapons?
hardcore
Works great. Beat a golem in 4 or 5 hits.
You can staggerlock golem easily with secondary attacks of iron mace.
I don't even use it. Staggerlock it pretty often even without the secondary, Might help my skill is usually in the 50's or 60's by then.
Plus I am not looking to take down a golem fast when I first go into the mountains. I want it to help me get my block skill higher as well. So I'm letting it hit me a lot.
I do much the same with Lox, and now viles, in the plains.
block skill doesn't level faster with golems than greydwarves
tho you could argue that it should
Not saying it does, but if your not using block, it doesn't go up at all. Like my wife doesn't even use shields, so she has no blocking skill.
imo take an iron mace with you to mountains and just remember to craft the frostner before yag/mistlands
Like neither my wife and I dodge roll, so that new dodge skill is useless to both of us.
on a side note flametal mace is goated if you want to cheese ||Lord reto|| as you can just time middle clicks and dribble his ass
probably applicable to all charred warriors
I have yet to even make that, let alone fight him. I keep stopping playing Ashlands. Like this time was to start a new game with a couple of friends. Doesn't help that I hate the Ashlands anyways.
In fact I hope in the future I will like the North lands, and will be able to just skip the Ashlands entirely.
Which would mean I won't even have to fight the Queen either. Even though she is a cool trophy.
Guys, is it just me or this 100% eitr regeneration speed from queen doesnt work? I cant sense any difference to be honest
They see me dodge-rollin', they hatin'
dodge roll is important
Considering my wife and I are starting our way into the Mistlands, and neither of us have died a single time yet, its not important.
Newsflash, neither is parry. Neither of us parry, either. I only block.
My wife doesn't even use shields, let alone block or parry with her weapons.
She only uses what she calls "savage aggression".
I have to say, it works.
with more, game is fantastic. Big shield combo with a pole player behind and you can take over the world
2 handed weapons?
Neither of us use a pole weapon. She rotates between axes and maces/hammers. I usually use the maces or hammers, and starting in the plains, a sword. Even though lately I have used the axe a lot more. I also use the sledges, and we both love the crystal battle axe. I'd say we do a pretty good job of taking over Valheim. We both have those weapon skills above 50 at this point.
She uses the crystal battle axe for a time, but I use them more.
She never uses the sledges, she leaves that to me.
Glad we have now 2 new battleaxes to upgrade from Crystal.

Yeah, I've been tempted to make the black metal one. Mostly because we have so much black metal. We love wiping out villages. Its why we take so long to move on to the Mistlands. 😄
It doesn't hurt in helping us build up a lot of lox meat supplies.
Speaking of supplies, I need to go fishing while my wife is working. So... later.
Has anyone looked closely at evasion mantle? it's +50% parry bonus so instead of x1.5 it would be x2 for normal shield?
I havent used it myself but it could be something
Could prove useful in some fights
I think the blackmetal battleaxe looks cool and it hits hard.
-# Honestly I think even though Crystal battleaxe looks cool it is bit "too much", I prefer more simpler looking weapons.
i'm considering it headed into mistlands because it can turn 2 stars from "yeah right" to "probably"
especially with a battleaxe that's only 50 block armor... 100 with parry goes to 150 with parry
#screenshots message @spring estuary You have found a new mob introduced in Call to Arms update, it's called ||Vile (aka undead bear)||. 👍
ah. okay. sadly it despawned after like 12 seconds, i was sailing by it and stopped, but it despawned already
Yes, they spawn only during night in plains, which is why it despawned.
i keep seeing them in the daytime far off spawned but not actually there, and as soon as i get close-ish the game registers the change and they blink away, its so sad. but it at least tells me i can find them there the next night
oh. i guess i happened to see it right before it despawned becuase it just turned day like 2 sconds earlier if i remember correctly
thanks
not the last you'll see it
ive been wandering the plains at night quite a bit but never encountered it so far. only saw it far in the distance like Yacko
Yeah, they might appear outside the active zone area but once they are in the active area they disappear.
i thought i was imagining things at first lol
yup.. 🙁 i notice the same thing with old fires and torches i make i try to not get close cuz then they always stay lit XD
They are listed as very rare spawn. I usually encounter 1-3 of them during night when I focus on looking for them.
Even on default setting, my boi bjorn hits like a truck
so thats a warning to new comers
they definitely have a respawn timer too, because i see zero after and have to wait many in game days suddenly i see 5 at once
Sometimes it's easy to mistake lox for one but one noticeable sign of Vile is visible "stench" aura around them from afar.
the good thing is there's a spawn i can see from my keep so i peek and see if they're back
not new, but new to seeing that guy. thanks for the warning. like how much compared to lox is meant with "like a truck"?
They can hit at least as hard or a bit harder than lox.
i think more hp too or at least way more stagger resist
Yes, and also ||resistance to all physical damage types||.
But noticeable weakness due to being undead.
crystal baxe is > blackmetal on them ya
ive killed so many without the head drop.... havin some of that RNG real bad... didnt get in on ptb at least
Id say its similar to the pierce attack of a seeker on default settings
Yeah, that's 10% chance for ya.
has anyone done the numbers on exactly what the stagger diff is between shield parry and weapon parry? im staring at my stagger bar trying to guestimate, it's like.... 25% more stagger with weapon parry? and i'm def taking zero actual damage cuz parry armor is 100 vs deathsquito
LOL yooooooo literally... so I'm sailing and fog hits, i'm like sigh might as well go wander the plains in the fog and look for a vile spawn. i run a bit insland and just run and run wander whatever. just before dawn i kill the one vile i find. the fog clears. before me stands... the yagluth marker.
and no way in hell ida found it if i didnt get hit with stupid ocean fog. thank you odin
Hello guys, I'm looking for someone to playing Valheim and maybe in future became a friend, if someone interested just text me.I'll tell about myself in my personal messages.
You can also look in and/or make a post in #1024264966712340510 if you want 😄
@tacit crystal just a quickie
which would help me better in very hard combat
block force or parry bonus
Those are... completely unrelated things.
Also why does Joel get all the blocking questions? 😭
lmao
I mean ive just been relying on dodges and I wanna utilize the shields more rather than just dodge
If you're on very hard, what "helps you more" is just atgeirs + berserker mead and never blocking because dodgeroll.
💀
If you feel compelled to block -- bucklers.
How about a the biggest shield possible with dagger run?
On vh you want the smallest shield.
Err, I'll pass, thanks.
What’s wrong with big big shield?
Heh, kidding about the choice of words.
It blocks less than the small shield.
I haven't played on VH tho, but many things are harder to parry in that difficulty.
You mean the tower shields?
Tower shields cannot parry.
I do not know how else to phrase it.
Numbers in #valheim-help
A shocks
can you lead tamed boars across land?
Slight correction, some attacks become impossible to parry.
You can drag them with the help of harpoon.
-# If only there was a way to see which attacks can and cannot be parried...
An indicator would be cool
OR MAYBE A SPREADSHEET?
lel
😭
Swamp is gonna be fun
I have not returned to swamps in such a long time
even on my original world
Im doing a "sword run"
where my weapon for most combats are a sword
Intentionally making the game harder? A true Scales follower. 😛
Yes, and starting fresh :DD
No food no powers too?
Nah im not a true masochist unlike scales
I do have a new challenge run for him the next time he is around 😄
A no food run for me would be a death sentence when greydwarf raids start coming
Tell me. 👀
||No spoilers||
I wonder
what are these trolls eating off the ground
I keep seeing their "picking up" animation from time to time
are they like vegetarian
probably omnivores
they munch on shrubs when they dont have a fresh kill in the cave maybe
There are skeletal remains outside their caves
I accidentally died on the moder boss and the wolf broke my portal is there any other way to get all the way back?
I would have to sail all the way back which is half of the map
i played this game when it came out and had the initial hype
didnt like much that i can not take ore with me as traveling was a pain if you needed ore
that was with 2 friends, but nowadays i think about a solo playthrough, i just dont know if its boring and how much hours i can expect if im a cozy builder mostly
Expect to put into a good chunk of your time playing valheim
World Sliders allow you options like more resource drops and "portal anything"
you can get really into this game
how much hours
expect
Like a couple hundred
Over a thousand, easy.
why is that
Why is fun, fun?
Solve that and you will be published in multiple journals.
then 2 more questions
- can a base be defended so i dont have to actively defend it anymore
- is there any type of automation these days? through npcs or whatever
- You can disable raids entirely.
- This is not a factory game.
This is what I love most with Valheim - there is no "right" way to play the game. You can opt for a variety of styles and make them work for you, even more so in groups since you can compensate each other's weaknesses if you have any. Of course you can theorycraft an optimum build and/or strategy for speedrunning or whatever, but it is strictly not necessary to min max and still progress while getting challenged and having a blast.
1 - disable raids or get automatic defense later on
2 - no
You can modify the game to your hearts content
but what gets you the 1k hours
like the progress or just building around?
or mostly just traveling?
Why is fun, fun?
Solve that and you will be published in multiple journals.
i try to ask it another way then
what is the 1k hours filled with, what task mostly
"Playing the game" -- non-specific. Doing multiple, varied things because the game is fun, so we keep playing it.
Counter-question: Why do you care how other people play the game when it has zero influence on how you, personally, will play the game?
You'll find out
The beauty of a game is experiencing it yourself
i asked this because id like to know if you want to play 1k hours or if its needed to play 1k hours
Want.
i dont want to find myself being bored after 200 hours because game is finished, contents done
If your only goal is beat bosses and drop the game then this isn't for you.
It's doing everything else that racks the hours up.
True vikings use spreadsheets
There is no need to drop thousands upon thousands of hours
Craftable kalkylblad when
The game is decently long if your goal is just to fight the bosses and then drop out
Huh?
nah im a cozy builder aswell, so most time will prob be spending building
once i overcome my mental issues as of "why am i playing solo-games as a 27 year old when theres better things to do, like improving my life" XD
Hi. 33 year old. I play solo games because they calm and relax me, which is a way of improving my life as recovering from how not calm and not relaxing the rest of life can be.
Eikthyr because it's the most demanding and most difficult
Really? What makes the other bosses easier for you?
They're all trivial and simple.
Hmm, I guess that’s fair lol.
So you’ve spent the most time dying on Eikthyer?
No I've never died on any boss fights
Valheim in general is a fairly simplistic game combat wise, every monster in the game can easily be avoided with the exception of maybe charred warriors before you understand their attack pattern.
People spend too much time swinging and not enough time looking.
Yea, well I haven’t actually played in a bit lol.
The Queen
The queen!? Why!?
there is tremendous replay value. worlds are generated hugely different. tons of weapons and playstyles to use through the game. you can build gather cook etc til your eyes bleed. even chopping trees is insanely satisfying somehow
yea ill give it a try
good boss fight, difficult boss, and the music... especially the part near the end that guiter riff
Oh I think I do remember the music being really good, maybe you’re right.
Shes a difficult boss fight and one I like
queen was good fight. All over those stairs and floating about, mega
Shes constantly up in your face
Right, hm I think you guys are right on this lolol.
trapped in a room full of bugs
I died multiple times. 😭
Queens got to eat too

Its an intense fight because of her constant aggression and spawning of adds
I've died once or twice vs Yagluth when in a group, I wasn't prepared for his increased damage output and got sloppy
That thing really likes to vomit AoE stuff
Actually didn't die vs queen, mostly because of cowardly guerilla tactics, I fled back to the entrance to kill adds whenever they appeared, then tossed like 80 bombs in her face in total
True Viking way.
My highest death counter remains trees...
For me it is falling to my death when building
Combination of ooze bombs and bile bombs
Keep forgetting to eat and OOPPSIE <splat>
Be careful when chopping those trees tho. They seem harmless but they can and will fall on your head and kill you if you don't pay attention / don't eat 😄
Never happened to me because I’m so bad at building you can forget trying to build a second or more story.
People gotten used to the chop tree > no fall tree
the only game that does this similarly to valheim is the forest
Right.
Haha right, I like building tall so it is a constant danger. This is my latest project, actually haven't died yet this time - been better at topping up the foods! #building-screenshots message
That is straight heat bro! Better than me for sure obviously lol. You might be better than my brother, he loves building and he built a Mead Hall.
i guess its hard to build megabases? xD
For me? Yes. Yes it is.
9 spear run, anyone?
one last thing before i start
Can you build onto water? like having a base on a sea or smth?
Takes a lot of materials, patience and a powerful computer, but definitely doable otherwise
Yes but not when it's too deep
Yea, just make sure you got support beams on the sea floor.
As low as you can go, that is the limit.
You can, just like what stratadox said "takes alot of materials"
and this is talking from experience aswell
do you have to use fish of the same level while making potions like: vanalir, trolls endurance?
Yep
Zep.
Zep 😭
-# I had EN keyboard enabled for some reason xD
Ah
Yeah, for a long time I was not getting why my wife plays the way she does, but up to a point it even works for me. Its surprising how often her "savage aggression" is very effective. So I've been adopting it in more and more situations for myself.
Sounds like she would be a menace with berserkir mead and red gemmed weapons from Ashlands...
She is building up a large amount of the meads, so she has plans.
Your wife bout to do a boss marathon to see how fast she can slay the forsakens
Pretty sure she is happy with how fast we do it already. Like we took down Yag in under 3 minutes. Maybe she wants to see how she does solo, but she hasn't indicated that to me.
Hm i dont remember valheim eating that much Ressources
Its always consumed a lot of resources. In fact, I think they have lowered some of the numbers since 4 years ago
Silver is still pretty crazy, though.
Wolf spear requiring silver but not doing spirit damage is bs. 😭
I've never made that spear, so never noticed. But yeah, considering the silver cost for all the other weapons, especially Frostner and the silver sword, I have some issues.
if you manage to play 200 hours or more then you got your money's worth by ten times
Heh, 4800+ hours and counting. No mods. I've got my moneys worth, and then a lot more.
tbh i was looking for a game where i can put 1k hours+ with sense, building cozy and progressing slowly
then i recommend you play one called "Valheim"
You just defined Valheim 😄
Yeah, I played progressing slowly. Doing a hell of a lot of building, and renovating structures throughout the world, etc... Its actually the way I prefer to play. Just my wife doesn't like building, so the nearly 2,000 hours I've played this with her, I do my building while she works her job. She doesn't even see a lot of the stuff I do. It just doesn't interest her.
😄 She is often so oblivious, I have to even point out the trophies I put up around our base. 😄 😄
Some survival games have automation through npcs, even minecraft added the copper golems now to automate stuff
I just hope it will not turn into work at some point, like a cycle of just doing tasks for survival like gathering meat etc. but ill start the game in a few
They let you set up things, via farming and taming several creatures. You get that automation stuff from the mods.
Yeah... collecting resources and bringing them back is core gameplay so...
Yeah, but we can decide on the scale of it. So the larger I scale it, the less often I have to go back and do it to keep myself stocked, because I can plant or slaughter large amounts at a time.
Rewarding gameplay
ROBERRT
Which is why I plant so much stuff, like onions, barley, whatever. The more I plant, the less often I have to do it again. Same goes for slaughtering my boar or wolves.
I don't tame Lox, I much prefer just hunting them.
Something I will never do. You guys just don't get how directionally challenged I am even with a map in Valheim. Which angers me a great deal, because I am exceptional with maps in real life.
Same. I can do no portal, but no map is never happening.
I dont mind no map
I could do no portal. Since I like slow progression. That just helps things go slower.
I actually like it because I dont have to constantly look on my map every second
but still
YES HALDOR
You dont wanna see my map on my other world 💀
Me neither. IS that why I am so directionally challenged in Valheim? I'm not looking at the map enough?
Whomever made me realize I could use pinging for myself, thanks. Thats been a huge help. Drives my wife nuts at times, but thats just a bonus to me.
At sea I almost got lost like a few minutes ago, but on land I got no problems navigating
Thats why i personaly like to settle or large ish island
You know those direction signs in the pre existing villages? I use those for myself in game.
I make trails, put up signs, just to help myself find my way around without having to look at my map.
Or to ping locations.
have fun! stay spoiler free! the best part of valheim is yelling “what the hell is that?!”
I got to do that over the Vile. So refreshing.
i did it with new ghost, it took me a second to figure it out
Oh yeah, that too!
but my butt was running the other way til i realized
I prefer the old ghost 🙁
I'm a fan of the ghost trophy.
same. old ghost was “what the hell is that?” HYYYSAYAH! “what the hell IS this??”
I'm also a huge fan of that one trophy you get from the Hildir quests. Looks like Ghost Rider.
was super anticlimactic when mounting ghost trophy
was like a green pea with a frowny face
Reminds me of the old glow in the dark skeleton masks.
Which was new for me, as a kid.
It just needs to be a little bigger, it’s so small
I feel that way about a few of the trophies. The Draugr Elite being my biggest issue.
I mean, we need that thing for a huge Maul, but its that tiny? Come on!
I also expected that sledge to at least look like it was made with that head, you know, as Stagbreaker at least looks like its made with antlers? But no. They missed that boat completely.
Iron sledge incorporating that head would have been metal af.
Yep.
If Frostner was a two-hander I wouldn't hate it 😁
I would not be against that. Its knockback would also make a lot more sense.
Precisely.
Plus that much silver for something that big would be easier to buy into.
Not that realistic metallurgy has ever been anything IG has gone for.
😁
If two-handers had actual attack animations and the ME SMASH thing was its secondary
That would in fact make it awesome
cant. Stop. Buidling.
Why would you 😉
When you run out of resources. 😏
I've actually run out of wood, never thought that would happen looking at my giant stack of lumber a few days ago
I got about 30 oak trees planted front yard, every few days i chop thru and replant fast. Huge wood pile carts full
Oh, I so rarely get acorns from felling oaks that I pretty much never do it, I plant one near base to use as beehive tower, then I leave them in peace...
i find it pays off with bigger numbers
one tree can give 6 or 8, with many in line of chop, you get way more for sure
Say “murder moder” 10x fast lol.
I levelled a birch forest that was blocking the sea view from my mansion, so I have all the finewood I'll ever need, but regular wood ran out. Gotta go plant a patch of beeches
I get one every five oaks or so... RNG shenanigans. Or do you have increased resources? That might affect it?
Hmm, current battleaxe animation to sledge primary and battleaxes getting new, faster attack animation?
-# Just some idea, not serious suggestion.
I wouldn't mind that to be honest, only time I ever use the sledge is to cheeze mobs in crypts. I have prospected for silver once or twice too, but that feels so stupid that I've stopped doing it 😄
just took down 2 oaks and got 10 corns

maybe i had a few in. Anyhow after deleting whole forest, i got more than chopped usually. Got no room to expand though
you also get a lot of resin and feathers from these bad boys
Haha dangit my new house is so big one hearth is not enough to heat it, but I only built one chimney...
Just the windup on the very first Battleaxe swing needs to be cut by like 0.2s
But the next one will be perfect
I stopped building chimneys when I realized all you need is a tall roof and the particles despawn.
you can make an arched chimney leading to the center, need some iron.
I have several floors, so that only works up top
Fair, would be good for people who say it's slow.
as with castle keeps, you can have one chimney connecting several floor fire places
centrally placed and linking each
It's the only change they need imo. That first attack is just barely too slow for me to use them.
nothing more cozy than chimney smoke
I got into the habit of just jumping in with the first battleaxe swing so it's a part of the approach, it feels a bit quicker this way
for my longhouse i use 4 windows different levels, smoke goes out thru them nicely
Yeah, vertically it's not that big of a problem though, on top floors I can have some braziers etc since the ceiling is high. And it doesn't really matter below either since I can stack comfort stuff over different floors
I only do one main floor, and then a... loft? A partial upper floor for the beds. So while I have several hearths going, my roof is so high the smoke just dissipates.
I didn't need this big of a house, but it was fun building it 😄
yea, tell me about it
Mine is rather big too. I will be able to fit all the craft tables along with tons of chests, and several hearths, with all the cooking needs, inside of it and still feel nice and roomy.
I only have the 5 ovens outside. Plus the smelters/blast furnaces.
I opt into very small homes in my main bases, outside of comfort items, a fire, and a bed, I see no real reason to keep anything around. I typically have a very visible smoke stack and can tell when my fire has gone out on my approach to my home.
My other style is a small home then an big out door pavilion, under which I have all my crafting stations.
Yeah I do that as well 🤘
I actually prefer that style, but the flying events were getting too annoying.
So since I was going to build a wall of some type anyways, I may as well put it all under just one roof.
I build differently each time to try stuff out, this time it became a huge stone mansion, last time it was a stupidly high wooden tower built around a pine tree...
Never died so much building as when I built that one
Built at sea level, had snow on the roof 😄
I try to go for a realistic village layout as accurately as I can, but with some alterations for ease of access for a solo player.
Yeah, I've tried out a few good looking ideas I've seen here. Just after about.... 3500 hours of playing, I tried out pretty much all of the ones that looked interesting to me. So now I just build one big home, and put the bedding items on a loft area that doesn't go over any fires. Including the hot tub.
Whelp, survived the ocean trip on a raft 😄 Got a bed set up in a little 2x2 prefab so now I should be good to conquer this new continent in (relative) safety
The hugest build I ever did, and it was two of us, was building and connecting 7 stone pillars in the plains. Had two Keeps on the ground, and one on top of one of the pillars. The pictures used to be here, before the big... hack.
Sounds crazy
It was. Took a huge amount of wood and stone, and iron.
The fact that we were even able to connect a couple of those pillars, it was surprising.
I've seen some builds using those pillars, started on a few myself but never really liked how they were going to they ended up being pretty simple towers up top with a portal, and my plains crops down below..
We did the build just to see what we could do.
We were able to do far more than we thought we would be able to. So it was very cool.
Iron supports give some crazy possibilities if you combine them with natural "supports" like those rocks or, erm, pine trees...
Yeah, we didn't use any trees, even though we kept that option in mind. We just never needed to use it. To our surprise, honestly.
Friendly reminder #building-screenshots message
We had our screenshots in screenshots. The building channels weren't created yet.
What? I'm just linking an old post of mine, not re-routing you 😛
Just saying, in case anyone tries a search. Even though the hack ruined it all.
I see some of the stuff people build and feel pretty limited in my creativity, goddam haha
Ohoo, spooky time decorations have arrived.
Yeah, people build some really amazing stuff. Far more amazing than anything I have built, for sure.
Jack-o-turnips are back?
And pointy hats.
October 1st, right?
Rejoice 😄
Jackoturnip is the best buildable.
Dang it! Its apparently time zone sensitive. Picked up a turnip and no recipe.
Sailing by a small island where there's a log troll and a bear chilling out. Sailed by them at least ten times by now, the bear doesn't move much but the troll stomps around. Stood on top of his cave looking out at me, thought he'd walk into the ocean and swim after...
I threw my cape on floor and got recipes.
What would happen in multiplayer between different time zones
Yep, it checks your devices time 🙂
The timezone of host?
Maybe it only checks on start up? So restart?
Guess I'll go fight Yag again, so I can put his head over my front door, along with the rest.
Seasons are only checked on startup
🧙♀️⌛ ?
Besides, Yag's head is very Holloween appropriate.
I FOUND HILDIR
I did not expect to find hildir right after searching for haldor for like minutes
Oh, got Running 100, when did that happen..
Witching season!
1min left.
Accidentally cut down my first berry bush for this playthrough. RIP perfect run
Not berry good
Beat Yag in 2:24, solo. Personal best.
2 hours and 24 minutes? 👀
2 minutes, 24 seconds, smart azz.
Even though my first fight with him lasted about that long.
I had no idea what I was doing, and went about as completely wrong in fighting him as you could.
his aoe fire burn attack is so awful
My Tower Shield blocks it completely. It just knocks me back. A lot.
I'm sure the fire mead helps with that too.
Idk, maybe it was from world creation and you speed speedrun'd Yag in under 3 hours 😏
Fire Resist Wine.
Dodge roll the initial hit (or block) and then you can just facetank the fire half of it.
I just realized the icon for fists is 2 open hands.. ah yes, the old open fists.
i only used buckler and smaller shield
Yeah, I just block. No need for rolling, etc...
Tower shields take care of everything.
Most of the time. There are exceptions.
As I am sure Sev's work sheet covers.
Do we have any light sources that kind of work as spot lights? I want to light up my boss trophies, which are on the front of my house.
But not light up my front yard, since my wisp collectors are there, so need darkness.
Down-facing dverger circlets.
OK, I'll experiment with the one I own. Then go from there.
That's because you slap you opponents to death.....
Now I want slap weapons 🙂
And a slapping game?
You just said we slap them to death.
I wonder... if wolves and boars etc are of different factions and hostile to eachother - could a wild wolf aggro a wild boar, kill it, then when calmed down eat the meat and get tamed? All without any player intervention except just being nearby for a time? 😅🤔
I don't see why not.
that would be funny though? wake up one morning and find him sitting there with his tongue hanging out. WTF? How did I get a dog?
Probably. Such things can happen with loxes, too 🙂
my kingdom for day serpents
I know.
But a slapping game might be fun for those liking PvP.
Ah yeah, reminds me of hearing the "Bzzzzzzzzt" when building my base at a plains island and thinking since when do we have powertools in this ga........ Oh shit!

Next thing you see is your character going splat
@shy marlin Any crazy Valheim runs going on?
No hit ashlands
That's done tho
I have a no metal no armor no food run going in mountains but i'm prolly dead soon (no way to regain hp ever until mistlands)
quit the game and stop doing random bullshit runs?
How often do you sit down and get deep into a nice build?🤔
I haven't built anything but warehouse shacks in 1 year now 😔
Pacifist run.
You're only allowed to kill the bosses.
😏
Which means during Queen, you cannot kill any adds.
😏
10 queens sounds crazy
It sounds crazy but due to the queen AI bein really passive you're really only ever fighting 5 at a time
does it increase the mob spawns? or no
i think that is what makes it sound crazy to me
Just bunch 10 queens together and staff of fireball them all
There's a limit
imagine 10 queens calling for backup from the swarm
sneaking challenge
I used to know the limit but I think it's ROUGHLY like 8 seekers max or something and 20 broods possible in the citadel
oh i see
thats still annoying to deal with, but managable
i was thinking like 30 seekers just flying at you perma
that'd be fun
Huntsman bow and fire arrows
can 1 Queen call for backup 4 times or only a set condition if the first backup dies
uh if you wait long enough ( there's a cd on the summon attack) i think so? idk if you asked me 2 yrs ago I prolly would know
Man I really wish you’d play Terraria, I’d watch the shit out of that
defeating the moon lord with a stick
Never played
Its worth the buckos
replayability is nice
Played it many times full vanilla mastermode
only annoying boss is the damn FISH
Interesting so she can just keep on calling for how many times she wants
i think so but like don't quote me, i'd have to mess around and see
Would love to watch Scales attempt Master Legendary ‘For the Worthy’ mode
The boss between early and mid game 💀
absolute hell.. literally
anyone has a multiplayer game going?
Nothing wrong with doubling up.
silver armor finally
aight im about to fight yagluth
you got this :3
gl
I could go on and on about Terraria, but I don’t want to flood the Valheim chat
Terraria for almost a 1gb game it is packed with content just like valheim
Survival games gotta be in the top of entertainment/hr in terms of money spent
Its rare to see good survival games, or games with a good progression system
Yeah, probably my personal favorite genre to be honest
i beat him
huge
i died the second after i killed him my fire resistance ran out i wasnt paying attention
good thing i went in for the kill when i did
i wouldve been so pissed
after all these years the abom ai still just runs away constantly
spend 10 minutes finding one just for it to piss off every time
ye it's jank lol
it doesn't if it senses it will be able to kill you, imo its just smart, thats my headcanon!
im standing here waiting to die
lowkey moder was harder
i guess the bog witch bubble is for show as well lmao, theres a war going on in the hut
yagluth you have to be better prepared but moder was harder
moder can gib you easier for sure
damn fenring trophies are hard to get. I kinda want to go kill Geirhaffa just to get the raid
Kill them all.
yeah I will. but now I need the trophy for the trinket as well as the bait.
before bait didn't require trophies right?
but instead fish or something
all the info about fishing was very out of date when i tried to google about it without getting too much spoiled
Yes you needed previous fish. And I preferred that system tbh because it gave you a reason to "fish your way up."

Not a fan of the current bait system, would rather just basic materials + bait be used to craft specialty bait 🤔
Though the required trophies aren’t difficult to get thankfully, so eh it’s a non issue really
i found crypts with 0 iron before
I've seen Reddit posts of a crypt that's literally just the starting room with 3 alcove dead-ends
And then there's the jackpot crypts with upwards of 120 scrap
I usually get 40-80 per unless empty.
YO... Good News, I am CHILD FREE for 4 days, no work, no responsibilities, I am going to start a Hardcore Valheim Run and Binge Game... I'm hyped!
@shy marlin having beaten it on normal, it is now time for my hard vegetarian run -- or should I just skip to VH?
@gray sand Youre a legend for updating the block spreadsheet, love your work as always
Thank you 💛
It needs one more tiny update for a couple enemies but I haven't felt like it yet 😄
ur a heavy armor enjoyer right
Aye.
hard then
if light armor i'd just skip to vh cuz ur prolly just getting one shot anyways on the later biomes
NO FAITH IN ME?
I mean I could go mage this time 😄
cant block even draugr on very hard 💀
with 2h food and bronze buckler
Everything that isn't Seeker Aspic, Ygg Porridge, or Stuffed Shroom.
Ygg Porride allowed if Royal Jelly allowed.
Which I would say... should be? Given it would be in the same classification as Honey, which is allowed.
So just Aspic and Stuffed Shroom are out.
Yes but can't use Ash or Mist feasts 😭
So it would have to be full glass-cannon mage.
Rip the skellies
Vineberries the only one that gives eitr
People sleep on the deadraiser man
Magecap
magecap and vineberries
There
only eitr food they could eat
No?
Why
hold on... let me read it once again
Seeker Aspic and Stuffed Shroom are out. All other EITR foods allowed.
Why?
yggdrasil proridge?
Vegetarian run. No meats allowed.
understanding
Royal jelly HMMM
So you either run SSS the whole game or you run SSS until you switch to magic.
Mead restrictions hurt more than the food ones.
so basically a scales no hit run but less masochistic
that 25% lingering sta and tasty meads
its perfect for farming and building though
ever since I put my resource modifiers to 2x ive been making tasty meads like no tmrw
feasts because fall dmg is not fun
but once you get your hands on feather cape
its stamina food all the way
Yup
salad best food for building
Dirt uh cheap
70 stam
but nothing beats hildir's clothing
I think
- The only healing meads allowed are MINOR and lingering.
And lingering sucks already, but even more when you can't eat any high regen foods. - Stamina and EITR meads are all allowed.
- Poison Resist and Frost Resist are NOT allowed (entering Mountains is fun)
- Berserkir and Animal Whispers are the only Bog Witch meads allowed. All others contain meat.
speed mead cuz of squirrel leg?
Hamstring, yeah.
But isint it meat
Vegeterian beat valheim any%
I said fuck it and went with VH 😄

Max death penalty too.
Are berries fair game or off the table aswell?
Yooooo aaaaa ccwwaayyssyyyyyy
Dodging being a proper skill now will make this slightly easier tbh.
I was gonna say turnip soup but realized it needs boar meat
Game just gets easier and easier 📉
so carrot soup and onion soup later on
Which is fun because I hate onion soup 😄
Barley isn't meat.
Yes thats what I mean
the other options that uses barley needs some sort of meat
blood pudding
lox meat pie, fish wraps, piquant pie, roasted crust pie
Eggs arent meat
Are they?
Uhh, according to google no
There
Just not born yet 💀
I mean, unfertilized chicken embryos...
So it's not muscle fibers, but I would call that meat of sorts.
Flour,egg,vineberries
Eggs are out, yes.
Ingredients to roested crust pie
🤷♂️
no
Oh...ok then
sev should just drop the training wheels already and just do no food 😏
off and pedal you go
This ruleset is the only way I ever play mage, lol.
mage
💤
Time to kill Eikthyr.
on level 100 blood magic, whats the eitr usage upon casting the staff of protection?
@shy marlin holy shit.
With dodging being free now you literally never run out of stamina...
game just gets easier
i think like 40 idk
One day there will be a team that doesn't cave to casuals.
But it is not this day.
it lowkey has me feelin some type of way because the version of the no food challenge that i enjoyed so much is gone and never will come back
True. All the free stuff now means the limited stamina pool isn't as much of a factor.
oh well
🤙
GOOD THING YOU DID ALL YOUR CHALLENGE RUNS AND GOT THE ACHIEVEMENTS
Oh wait...
if only the combat update came only
scales would definitely use the evasion mantle trinket
Bronze pendant
and nimble anklet
i ain't memorizing ts 🥀
what about resounding shackle?
does melee attacks give off more adrenaline compared to magic attacks?
yea
Ah balanced out
melee ur also blocking/dodging stuff more often so u get more from that
The pro of adrenaline on mage though is that you get adrenaline on CAST
so you essentially never lose adrenaline on mage if you play it smart
because I was gonna say anything that gives instant eitr and most of your options are range
thats pretty busted, but balanced out by lower adrenaline gain
the endgame trinkets are so busted
honestly ashlands melee one is garbo
ashlands mage one is goated, mistlands mage one sucks
💀
on a 1 minute timer
There's still a pretty much infinite eitr loop build that lurks in the mist with that trinket 🔮
devs thought they patched it out
and it only costs 75 adrenaline
Ngl before I appreciated the no extra inventory
but the addition of trinkets yeah maybe a little too much
the inventory is getting jam packed with things you regularly use
-->
I've said it before a million times, in mistlands it just becomes too much a chore and is unfun 🔮
my counteract was just use portal, you'll be returning to base quite often, but in the lategame it becomes a problem
you're carrying alot of stuff, portal materials, weapons, tools, potions, utilites (wisp light, the belt etc) and armor aswell
The idea of adding backpacks ehhhh its kinda not for me
it kinda ruins the look of the viking like style
same
The cape is what vikings are recognizable for
and it being obstructed by the bag is ugh
If they solely add worn inventory for armor, trinket, equipment -- +6 slots == good.
If they add backpacks with multiple rows == casual as fuck and plz no.
watch the deep north boss reward increase inventory 🔮
Ok so the one way backpacks would be fine by me.
They would have to rework the forsaken power ups if that ever happens
Is if they took up the equipment slot.
So you can backpack OR belt, not both.
Backpark OR wisplight, not both.
If they're adding backpacks atleast this
aswell
Do you build Trinkets at the normal workbench?
Depends
Damn. Was hoping they gave the Artisan Table more use.
Artisan table is bloat
When they first added it I was really hoping it was going to enable jewelry crafting because you can find silver necklaces and such.
Something like the trinket system.
But years later, we finally do get a trinket system, but Artisan Table still bloat, as you say.
Artisan table might be givin more love later in deep north
You're doing that hope thing.
I mean you get it in a cold biome so maybe 🙂
If anything, my expectation for DN is it will make magic even more OP.
Can’t wait for the “summon seeker soldier” staff
@shy marlin Deadraiser that summons Lord Reto. 😛
Dead riser that summons fader
Were all tower shields reduced to -10% movement penality?
lowkey wishing they'd just change it into a workbench upgrade level 6 lmao
More clutter around the bench 😭
Some vegetarians allow dairies and/or eggs, they're then called lacto-/ovo-vegetarians.
I thought that is the distinction between vegan and vegetarian and already covered by that
It's a lot closer to vegan tbh. With honey being allowed because THE BEES ARE HAPPY -- ergo no animal or insect is being taken advantage of.
Vegetarians restrict what they eat, vegans restrict not only what they eat but also items they use daily (nothing made of animal products or tested on animals). They usually don't use honey either.
Any news when jack-o-lantern arrives?
Never because that isn't a thing.
Doesn't the mighty Turnip have a latern build piece?
That is a Jack-o-Turnip 😉
So true
hey
when the deep north update come out, will i have too restart a world to be abel to get the new biome ?
Very good question! My original save still works and has through many updates....You should still be able to keep your world even after the update, but I am no developer so I can't say 100% with accuracy that this will always be true
from what i know, the part of the world that you haven't explored yet are not generated by the game, so assuming you haven't gotten to the Deep North at all, it'll be fine to continue from that save
Yes but Froster is right
i had seen someone said that too
thank you very mutch boys, help a lot

@worthy current no. english only chat
danke
I wish there were 90 degree turning and/or T-junction roof ridge pieces
Hmm seems weird that I can’t put corewood in a hearth considering fine wood and corewood have no problem going in the kilns
Oooh, time for pointy hats on my pet rocks!
i love burning wood piles for instant 50 coals rather than using the kiln
I don't understand this. How do you get past early game when your fire can burn down your house?
huh
You put the fire further away 😄
They play with fire hazards on 🙂
is that a mod
no, it's a world option.
Nope, world modifier
so you have to go outside every time you want to cook?
That or make big enough house that you have space around your fire 🙂
simply dont put any fire inside or nearby your house
so high roof and walls/floor further away? I guess you just have dirt around the campfire until you get stone?
alternatively, space out some dirt in a dedicated kitchen space, something like 4x4 space with the campfire in the exact middle of it
I thought the radius of sparks was like 8m or something.
I would guess so, yeah, i dont play with them 🙂
or when you got the stonecutter just use stone floor and walls for the kitchen they're perfectly fireproof
Yeah, that I get.
This is why I don't do it either.
I keep arguing though, that we should be able to build a simple fireplace with a bunch of rocks right from the start.
don't need a stonecutter for that, I've been building them since I was 12.
i just like the convenience of burning woodpiles lmao
I've learned to get by without. Honestly I just char all the meat I don't need. Also I'm a klepto in game, so the obliterator gives me lots of coal.
I mean, you can, right?
you can technically use the kiln as your primary fireplace
it just uses a lot of wood
you can also use the stone oven later in the game, which is really nice for aesthetics imo
I mean a fireplace with a chimney that prevents sparks. so you could cook with it but have fire hazards on early game. I threw an image in #screenshots
It'd have to be workbench enabled, but you can cook over it without worrying about fire hazards.
What's y'all's favorite armor set in valheim?
Padded
Tbh i like the harvester tunic and straw hat 😄
LOL
fenris
Fenris set + ratatosk + ask cape and I can outrun Thor.
Ask set 100%.
Vile set
What's the coolest looking set in ur opinion?
Skal Gjall!!! I have 5 players, dedicated and dear friends, ready for the North Update we are gearing and loading the ship!!! I just hope there is enough time to get their skills leveled. I am so excited ha!!
🔥 Metal Armor is what I use mostly
fr
Either Ask or Flametal set.
For coolest the flametal or carapace for me probably 😄
im currently using the bear set and it looks cool imo
can't beat bear headdress or lion, jaguar etc. headdress in games 😛
my hot take is root set
True true, i was considering that one too
Full silver set
The drake helmet is so good
Silver set is probably my favorite. But the Eitr weave set is crazy good
Finally found haldor, man he’s usually the first dude I find but I found witch and hildir before him this run
The red eitr set is really nice too yeah
Is it possible to kill bosses using the obliterator?
Also is it a decent method?
400 damage seems like a fair bit
Please send DM to @dusky pivot to address the issue properly.
I DO NOT LIKE THESE ABOMINATIONS

This thing is crush me, turn me into a bloody stain if I even try
Cheers for the mention.
In the future sending a message to Modmail would allow other mods to also see the issue and act if needed.
Aight
got to ask i seen alot of invites for Gamer Haven & Community discord in this server is it safe to join?
I tried that one, wasn't my cup of tea. 🍵 Safe to join.
ok cuz i even got them DMing me
I've had the most luck playing with randoms on the official Valheim server, met some good people here. Play with them almost daily now.
yeah im looking for a good server to join
You need about 30 defence 100hp and a axe and shield to take them on without much issue
Swords are better than 1h axes
I have no dealing with them
the thing is
Eeeek what a sneaky bastard! Just got ambushed by a two-star troll. I was busy with a small swarm of deathsquitos (how can you get four at once even, never seen that before?) when this guy came stomping out of the woods and promptly smashed me on the noggin. Good thing I rock heavy armour and HHS...
Ouch
trolls, abominations, bosses, etc
even maxed out BF gear I can just barely parry a draugr non starred
True but an axe can also chop wood which means one less slot for a slash damage weapon
Imo that's not a challenge, just annoying. But great that the options are there!
Yep, and changing to battleaxe later is easier since you've leveled the axe skill already.
Oo yeah and didn’t they just add 2 more battleaxe variants with call to arms
eh, but battleaxes are awesome because of their stagger, and one does not simply stagger an enemy with a bajillion hp.
i just got jumped by a lone 2 star goblin the second i started fighting yagluth, sometimes the game really seems like its trying to kill you
indeed. bronze axe is better than bronze sword because you’re leveling your axe skill when using it so it’s balanced 😆
Higher difficulties increase creature size and speed
That is terrifying
Bronze Spear 😏
Night time swamps is actually terrifying, knowing the fact many of the enemies can 1-2 tap you
On very hard
you'll notice i do always have a spear in my hotbar in all of my clips 👍 that's my "bow"
The first bow I build is Draugr Fang 😂
the first and last i build is finewood just in case of serpents and put it in my boat
tho i do build xbow in mistlands to defend my boat from gjalls
I haul 2 balista with me everywhere by boat. Auto cannon yes
what do you do, jump off your boat and build them on the shore?
is there a way to change adrenaline gain?
like increase percentage gained from each action
hehe, oh so just as standard gear when you make a landing you make portal and 2 turrets XD that's kind of awesome actually
also omfg it FINALLY dropped.... after maxing out my vile chest and legs with 36 ribs worth of viles left over..... FINALLY got the trophy.
great. Now get the wraith one
I have several ghost trophies. Only 1 wraith. I've destroyed far more wraiths. Thats RNG for you.
true.
that reminds me, I don't know what the ghost trophy looks like on an item stand.
Small.
Reminds me of glow in the dark ghost masks I wore as a kid.
My wife finally died yesterday. Still her first time going so long without dying, so a great run. Its what happens when you get half a fuling village to chase you. 😄 😄 I try to keep it to about 25% and no more than 2 beserkers.
I think it was the fireballs that did her in, despite having drank the mead.
Saw a two-star fuling next to a berzerker and realised just how much bigger than the green guys they are
Nasty, reddish little <bleep>s
Its cool that IG differentiates them.
Silver age here we come
not found bonemass yet but just popped a double silver vein for 329 silver (2x resources)
I wish starred mobs would drop corresponding trophies
And a wolf trophy acquired during the minin process
So you get your cape/cloak too. Always nice to get that ASAP.
Yep it could not be going better rn
Of course, with that much silver, you can make your chest piece too.
I prefer the lox cape to the wolf anyway. less silver used .
NO CAPES
I mean its what 4 silver
Whenever you get the flesh from Haldor, which is with iron.
I prefer it just because of the looks, never liked the wolf cloak, too bulky
Okay then yeah I can make it
I love Fred. I make Fred every play through.
This wasnt meant to be a frostner run but a frostner run is what it is becoming
Well, it does make Bonemass that much easier, so...
and the swamps... and the mountains... and the mistlands...
Swamps are just so much easier with silver gear, period.
Yeah but especially frost damage
Fun to destroy abominations with the silver battle axe. Around 4 hits and BOOM!
I just like how bonemass is essentially an optional boss, even moreso with the forsaken powers rework
Elder optional too given you can just build a chair to bypass crypt gates..
So the first boss you could say you "need" to kill is Moder to unlock Artisan table 😂
I mean all they have to do is deactivate the teleport command until the swamp key opens the door (although most likely not as simple)
Yeah, thats blatant cheat. At least with silver you can make a good guess as to where the nodes are.
Can confirm now, they're slighty faster
Since the game is not competitive, the only one you cheat when you cheat is yourself, so they'll probably let it slide
And given you can get to Ashlands without the boat rather easily... Moder is the only boss you "need" to kill 😂
You will need all of them at the circle for something for sure
Oh? How do you get there without the boat? I hate that boat. Looks fancy and all, but...
maybe itll be a prerequisite to fight final boss to have all the forsaken before them
all boss heads = spawn something. I bet
you just route along the spires that come out the boiling ocean and use wooden platforms
And Elder is a pretty fun boss tbh, not overly difficult unless you go for him undergeared and underfed, I can't see why skipping Elder of all things should be a thing.
Water is lukewarm at best. Longship will make it to the spires. At which point you can hop out and repair whenever you need to.
Sometimes you get lucky and just sail in a straight shot without ever needing repair.
You likely will need all of them to get the "Go to Valhalla" scene. Its what Odin ordered.
Ideally you wanna find as close a spot to ashlands as possible, ive been lucky before to be able to see the actual coastline from just before the boiling ocean on a previous playthrough
They really need to crank water temp by like 500% imo so the boat is needed in most cases.
sure but only for boats
Some people have seeds where you can just walk to Ashlands 😂
temp could increase as you get closer
is that an artifact from pre ashlands gen?
I always just fight him upclose with atgeir for roots if needed and chop away with the axe
I found a tiny little Mistlands islet just on the border of the boiling sea, so I could build a tower with a portal there. Built the boat and promptly entered Ashlands waters, didn't need to sail that thing anywhere else.
I think it happens more on old seeds but there are a couple modern ones that still allow it iirc.
