raid rate regardless of difficulty just depends on the option you set, game has a check for it that sees if your near any player made structure every set amount of time and if you are boom raid, basically on the highest setting that check is more frequent therefore higher chance to get raids

I usually do enough exploring and killing of Abominations I get plenty of it from the ground level nodes and the abominations. My wife and I have nearly 4 stacks of it now. Of course we are well into the Mistlands part of the game now. So killing the abominations is easy now.

I think I have about 2 hours of single player play in Enshrouded and 130 hours in coop.

It's very different (which is why we picked it) but my gaming group have just changed to Void Crew for a change of pace.

Besides, I think if I get my wife to watch me play long enough, she will get drawn into it like she did Valheim.

I've played it in SP only. And while I did like the combat, the world in general and what I encountered, I absolutely loathe the puzzles you need to solve for each step.
I also had mixed emotions about the NPC's. Especially when you got back from doing a task for them and all of them yelling for your attention.

The problem is that your initial building are is quite small.
So the solution to that is having them in a main building.

But I might consider to create small rooms attached to the main building, but with doors on the outside only for them, so they can leave me be.

There is a lot more to it than Valheim, for sure.

As little as I have played, the variety is already greater.

Best farming system I've encountered so far is the one in Life is Feudal: Your Own.

You could plant on vertile soil, but after one harvest you either had to use manure or remove the soil to get a new layer of vertile soil again.

And manure was only "made" in the coops, meaning you had to capture rabbits and chickens.
So at least that part of farming felt quite real.

The second best is in Enshrouded when it comes to grow seedlings, which then needs to be planted.

The Third best is what I had to do in Wurm Online, in which you need to tend the field each day to increase the harvest, as if you were weeding it.
Having animals roam over your farm fields was also increasing the yield, just like your tool quality and skill did.

Valheim is the fourth after those three.

You create seedlings in separate seedbeds usually with water you can get from wells and sometimes other materials. Then you can plant them in your farmland which is made from farm soil. And there is a LOT more food than in Valheim.

And a lot more tame options as in Valheim; except in Enshrouded they're "just" pets.

I'm certainly not a game designer, but I have a question: maybe change the stability mechanics for heavy buildings? So that stability is summed up from all the blocks on which the body rests, and the stability is subtracted as much as usual * for the number of support blocks. Just if you compare with reality, then in Valheim stone buildings are much lower than real ones

If you mean to specifically go out your way to farm skills then no for the most part

There are certain skills like blood magic that people go out their way to farm and it can definitely be beneficial but it’s not a must

Skills are just a welcome bonus and you level them up through natural progression from simply engaging with the different things that level up your skills

Spending hours farming skills just to die and lose it all back for the most part can also be very demotivating

Depends at the difficulty you set your game.

You can set it at non-aggressive monsters and only fight / kill those you need to; making it a lot easier to pass through each biome.

I do have to say, getting the ore back to base via the boats was a slog, but its also one of the more rewarding accomplishments when you pull it all off without dying.

As for not having any mages its actually pretty simple since all of the magic items you make required sap + soft tissue = eitr and dvergrs actually excavate jotun remains they can make magic

It's not so crazy to think they also figured out sailing and portal technology, we stumble onto it fairly quickly, but there's 0 evidence to support that. It would be neat if there were dvergr built portals in the world and small puzzles to connect them. It could open up randomly generated networks for exploration.

Died my 9th time tonight. Its what I get for accidentally punching a Dvergr. Inside their tower. Surrounded by them. At least I got out so I could do an easy gear recovery.

My wife went on an azz kicking death and destruction on them. I was impressed.

I think the lore behind the Dvergr makes nearly no sense. Plus that they have been there since the giant were alive? Crazy.

Totally fair, though I will say in my experience, earning each piece you build with and defending it as you build can be it's own reward, and there's truly no rush to beating Valheim.

The sailing is something to think about because at the entrance of the citadel you'll find the runestone saying "We sealed the door and scattered the key, leave her be" meaning that dvergrs that had locked the queen in the citadel had no intention of confronting her and the only way to travel to the ashlands is by acquiring one of her carapace to make an artisan press and using black marble to make cemaric playes

The timer will still count down where ever it is placed in the world, so when you enter the cell with the farm, it will take a few seconds for the plant to change from "not ready" to "pickable".

The taming can be a bit different. The crowing of pigglet will "tick on", but breeding will only happen when player are in cell.

Pups/piggies will grow regardless of being in same area or not.

I did an Ulf last night. I blame my mouse, though, It had this weird thing going on where I was randomly punching things all evening. Chests, walls, benches. So then I was walking around a Dvergr tower, assessing damage. The Dvergr were all bunched up on what remained of their stairs, and I tried to jump over them to get to what remained of the next floor. Then I just punched one of them, for no reason. (My mouse acting up). Then all Hades broke out. Since I had heard this story before, my goal was to get out fo the tower and as far away from it as I could. So I did. I was doing great, and was starting to think I was going to get away, then all this fire comes out of no where. So I died.

Long story short, my wife kills all of them like a furious Valkyrie, and come to find out the tower is in a great location. Nice angler fishing right out the front tower door, another Dvergr mining encampment nearby, a nice dungeon across the water, the remains of a nice bridge from which we got a bunch more iron and finished filling yet another black metal chest full of black marble. A really nice spot.

Hopefully I will soon find an ideal spot to build my usual Mistlands fortress upon, and put all of these building resources to great use.
