Travelling through as many zones as possible will be better, but you could just sit stil and be lucky.

Best trick is to sail fast until you find one, immediately hop out of your boat (this brings it to a halt) and climb back on with the ladder, then start plinking away with your bow.

Alternatively you can harpoon them and drag back to shore so you get the scales and trophy too (they just sink in open ocean) but thats a bit slower

I'm about to start a massive renovation of my outer walls...

I'm going to place starter bricks n boards and use those as a guide as I go around.

My main base floor is pretty flat, but some of the walls are buried more than others so it has a slight gradient to it, I wish I had outlined it the first time.

So tl;dr long story short: I highly recommend planning/plotting with sticks n stones, then determine whether to carve or flatten first.

Yeah, I have a problem too, but only in Ashlands. It lags a lot when I'm playing with friends. When I'm solo, everything works great. Even if we're all on the server and I'm the only one in Ashlands, it runs fine. But as soon as someone else joins me there, that's it every mob gets teleportation skills XD

I just built my first stone portal today and oh my god it looks epic. For so long people said we would never be able to teleport metal. Now you can teleport metal, in style. I love it, makes Ashlands way less punishing than it could be (it's very punishing still lol)

I nearly rage quit over the Moder fight and I've just beaten it. Thanks so much the community for all the tips, whatever youre struggling with stick with it, the difficulty of this is based on how much youre willing to prepare. Lots of prep is easy mode. I activated Bonemass at the start of the fight and wailed on her with an iron sword, with the forsaken power and maxed out wolf armor the damage is not much, I only avoided the frost breath attack. That got her down to 25% health. The rest I did with about 50 needle arrows which you can get by bating Deathsquitos from the borders of the plains (just avoid Fulings). If the fight takes you 30+ minutes its likely that your gear just needs upgrading.

In multiplayer, the player first entering a world cell, will be the master and handles the game calculations for the rest of the party. So if a player with mid to low end PC/console are first in the cell, the rest of the party will experience lag. Especially in Ashlands. Nothing you can do to fix this, you have to wait for the devs to optimise the game at full release.

Usual issue for games like valheim that require alot of data between players, package loss is the akilles heel

What is the plan with pulling the game out of beta & after? I know combat update, then deep north/1.0. Is there any other plans to streamline the game and integrate different things together, once all the biomes are created? Finetuning resource grind per area, adding some small artsy/filler connections between the different biomes, even (difficult) alternate paths? I know there are a ton of creative things that could be added or tweaked now that the end is more in sight. I love the game as is, this is not negative criticism in the slightest, I am just curious.

I occasionally use my MSI laptop. Runs just fine. I have a fully MSI system coming, but it will be a couple of days yet before I actually play on it. I expect it to do great. It just comes down to the system components, regardless of brand. My current system is all name brand components too, and its running just fine, most of the time. Some times I get lag, but I am pretty sure thats external issues, such as server connection.

There is also one another way to get other drops from them than dragging them to the land. First shoot it at the point where it takes only 1 shot to kill, then wait until it's near boat. Draw your bow and when it's next to the boat jump at it and shoot while in air above it and you can possibly get all or at least the most other drops than meat before they sink (like trophy).

It's possible due to any recent content patch that the altar location was swifted to different place due to world generating new content and possibly moving other POIs locations in unexplored areas. So if you had the marker but never went there before any content update it's possibly in different location now. Going back to same vegvisir should show you new location.

Although it might not matter anymore for Moder since you defeated her now... Due to possible console commands use.

Went to a moder location on one island and altar was there. Went to a different island where the world seed shows no moder, but it has the cave for Hildir's quest. That's where moder suddenly spawned for battler.

Valheim programming humor:

Found an infested mine close to the coast, docked at the other side of the bay so I can land in peace, set up the workbench and portal and decided to lure any possible monsters in by using my bow.

Worked great on the first seeker. Got two hits on it before it landed and it wasn't a match for my BM sword and shield.

Launched a shot at another seeker and instead of one, I lured two in. Of which one was a tad purple.

This time I didn't stand a match. If I avoided the 1 ⭐ the other one got me and vice versa. So I died, picked up some spare gear and went back. Whittled both down to about 60% health, before they got me again. And my portal. 🙁

So had to sail there with the Karve, managed to get the portal mats before I got hit too often, even managed to get the portal up and running, but lost my Longboat in the process. Eventually managed to get both killed, recovered the mats for the Longboat, rebuild it, gathered all my items and put them back where they belonged.

Equipped my bow, went to the point I used to lure the monsters in and looked at the entrance of the infested mine.

And that's when I saw them..................................

a seeker soldier.

Game has quite comfortable 22 000 ish people playing on Steam currently. Even thought the count will probably never hit the peak number that's quite good number for a game that came out over 4 years ago. Numbers also definitely will raise higher when the next (combat) update and eventually the 1.0 (Deep North) update will arrive to the game.

It seems like the Devs changed how the Dvergr and the seekers, etc... interact. It hasn't taken blatant luring of seekers to the towers and camps to get the dvergr killed. Monsters have attacked purely on their own. In fact, our first tower was already being attacked by a Gjall when we found them. So its nice to not have to arrange Dvergr deaths anymore.

Now to find more dungeons with cores. We are already only 1 piece shy of a seal breaker, and we have a Queen location. We have only found 4 cores.

The Queen is to the extreme East, so it will still take us a while to get over to that area.

Anyways, we finally came across one of the ancient bridges last night. Its so fun deconstructing those. It was a small one, so we only got just over 40 iron, some copper. Fair amount of marble.

Me and my buddy have beaten the Ashlands, my first time playing as a caster. Was a pretty neat experience, had a lot more fun than I thought I would! Staff of embers gets a gold star, most useful offensive magic weapon for me.

At lvl 100 it's 700 hp for shield. Even at lvl 0 the shield is busted really, blocks any direct attack without you taking any damage.
Even thought you sacrifice 40% of your current HP while casting the shield you will regenerate quickly.

Higher skill lvl also affect to eitr and HP cost for casting with blood magic tools.

I gave up trying to parry lord reto, my block skill not good enough, went caster instead, he froze in place as soon as he saw the tentacles then he fainted from overstimulation

Went back to melee for fader, dyrnwyn worked pretty well, and also tower shield worked well, kinda underrated shield, i used medium shield most playthrough but tower shield soon appeared to make more sense for that fight

Although IIRC you cannot max bronze set either before getting mats from swamp, but that's more logical.

Level 4 troll armor has the same defence as level 3 bronze armor so they shouldn't both be obtainable at the same time
