Troll cape still has the same defense as any other cape, but the Lox cape may be useful if your armor doesn't protect from frost. As for blackmetal... it can be used for some ammo eventually, but you will usually have way more of it than you actually need.,

Wolf cape looks good, but it takes a lot of silver to upgrade. Lox cape, if you can snipe them early (plains often border swamps) is much cheaper with the amount of metal required which is why I usually go that route.

Okay, I tested against 1 star Berserker. It's possible to get them locked in stagger, but you have to be quite quick to initiate the attacks to get it staggered first. It took 4-5 consecutive pokes with Crystal battleaxe to get it staggered.

Explored an area roughly the same size as the starter meadow and the black forest in swamps, found 2 turnip seed plants. compared to 40+ carrot seed plants.

I even changed my monitor saturation and the yellow was very clear vs the grey/brown/green

I made similar complaints in the past but got same responses. I just have bad luck in swamps 🙂

I am stuck on the 2nd boss, I died to him once respawned and built a new ship just to recover my stuff to instantly die again. Any tips what can I do? Also when ever fighting him for some reason all the dark forest is coming to the fight as well, I had a troll join mid fight as well as some skeletons and other creatures any tips?

Leave portal nearby but in safe spot when you go there again so you don't need to build another ship. You can run to the grave and recover it, retreat to your base and prepare yourself. Disable autopick so you don't pick unnecessary items beforehand.
Deal with the troll first, you could use Corpse run buff you gain from recovering your grave for your advantage since it boosts your survivability for short duration. They are weak against pierce weapons.
When fighting Elder, you have 2 options: shoot with arrows and take cover behind the pillars when he shoots with his ranged attack, or fight him melee, dodge his slow stomp attacks and when he raises his roots move to safer place, wait him to approach and continue with melee. Or use both tactics.

Don’t worry too much about your walls. Enemies only destroy what they need to in order to reach their target, so if you walk outside your base will be safe.

The first time you do, I'd recommend running 2 stamina foods just in case (carrot soup and queen's jam are the best ones you have available rn).

After you do the secondary attack, get in range and just hold down the attack button and it will automatically combo for maximum damage.

Hey I'm finishing up the mountains biome and about to take on it's boss, I set up a base in the plains ahead of time so I could grow crops I want to work on having a diet mainly composed of sustainable food sources (crops, boar meat, etc) any recommendations?

after you grow some barely and grind it up in the wind mill bread is one of the best stam foods in the game for cheap
you can also make fish wraps if you have a fishing rod which is pretty sustainable
lox meat pie is not to hard if you want to take the time to tame a couple loxes (the cloudberries are so abundant in the plains i feel like its not that big a hassle in this recipe)

if you like double stam food you can continue to use onion soup, still really good

I do that often, Lox Pie and Bread and Onion Soup so 1 health 2 stamina foods, ideally have a plains base near some cloudberries but they are also extremely easy to forage especially if you mark some big clusters on your map, the rest is all farmable and doable with also breeding some lox. Taming them is easy but for the enclosure you need to make it super big

Yeah. My lox pen is near the meadows, and the last thing you want is the lox tearing down the walls to go stomp a neck or a greyling. I build the walls six or seven levels high and then put stakewalls on top with one door. Then, I just run up the wall to get in.

The "draugr villages" in the meadows? The creatures don't respawn but only if you destroy the spawners inside the houses. They're a greenish glowing mound that emits a buzzing noise (like flies).

Very very often adjacent to Ocean or Shallow, but your answer is no, I'm currently looking at some maps for my server and found a fully landlocked swamp biome, its not super big though quite small, but not tiny

There are 3 shield types

Bucklers - very good parry bonus but absolutely abysmal blocking power

Round shields with middling block power and decent parry bonuses

Tower shields with beefy blocking and very good knockback power, but no parry

Towers are good if you aren’t comfortable with parry as parry can backfire if you mistime your attempt

Tower shields just do be big chunky boys so you won’t do so good if you don’t adapt to the tank playstyle

I like tower shields as a preference so I take bulky shields and heavy armor so I just slow walk my way through enemies

my biggest mage problems: panic forgetting to recast bubble, death sentence in mage armour, maybe using wrong food I often try to go EEE, being distracted and forgetting to recast bubble, and going ham with offensive spells so I don't have enough eitr to recast bubble, and maybe also sometimes just standing around with low eitr and mead on cooldown - wishing I had a Mistwalker or some other melee weapon to use (and the stamina for it)

This playthrough I have Green Axes, Klossen, Dyrnwyn, Staff of the Wild and Protection and also Primal Ash Fang, its insanely fun tbh

last play I also used Dundr alongside it as well

I have this one trick if I have only 3 turnips: I craft the cauldron upgrade to get new recipes, make bunch of new foods (mostly sausages), then break the upgrade to get turnips back and then planting them to get seeds.
But yeah better plant them to get more seeds, it takes some time but it's worth it.

If you want to learn parrying, you could craft regular shield and train your timing for successful parries against smaller mobs in earlier biomes.

Parrying happens when you time your block just before the hit from enemy lands on you, you can hear a loud "klang" type sound and the enemy gets staggered.

It can turn the situations on your advantage since you deal double damage against staggered enemies.

Note that parrying drains more stamina than regular blocks and bosses are immune to stagger so parrying against them is not as good, but against most other enemies it's good.

Parrying also multiplies the block armor of your shield, allowing you to block more damage. Normal shields have 1,5x multiplier and bucklers have 2,5x.

Round shields work too for parrying, they give some mercy if your parry timing is not yet perfect.

Bucklers are inferior for regular blocks but superior for parrying.

to be fair they are also mobs that are not boring at all, 2 variants that are a little different to catch you out, they sometimes respawn incredibly fast, lots of health, they drop one of the imho most beautyful trophies in the game but do that very rarely, kinda love and hate them

yeah they respawn fast in certain areas depending on when the last one spawned and how zones interact in Valheim, it sometimes appears that they respawn after 2 min in the same spot, which is not correct

if you have 1 boar with 0 stars, and one with 2, they will make some 0 star children and some 2 star children, if you remove all the 0 star ones you will then only get 2 stars, works real good

i found the best and quickest way to get down a hill just place an item in the catapult and then stand on it before it fires and you will go down the hill quickly alive on the other hand is a diffrent matter
