sounds good, thanks 🙂
Well, considering the type of enemies that are there it makes sense i believe 😄
i know, but what i like the most is the stamina cost
True 😄 that is pretty great
Secondary attack with the sword is quite nice with the high amount of spirit damage. 👍
how tf do i run out of feathers lol i cant make any more arrows
i guess i could make wood ones and shoot birds all day
Kill yag and there will be an easy way to get lots of feathers
well i need feathers to make arrows to go to the mountains and shoot drakes while i mine silver to make a sword to fight yagluth lmao
Wood arrows do fine in the mountains
yeah fair enough the drakes dont do much damage
I tend to get decent amount of feathers from woodcutting. Poor birds' nests...
You should also have quite a nice amount of arrows from swamp chests, and if you explore black forest crypts you will find more feathers too
hmmmm true i forgot about that
I prefer flint arrows to wood arrows if I've got the feathers. They do a fair bit more damage when needed.
I use obsidian mostly to make frost arrows
Obsidian arrows on their own are also great when you dont have too many freeze glans
yeah and the glands are also great for eatin
you must either be spending a lot of time in the mountains or not feel the need to make 2000 frost arrows and 2 boxes of Eyescream 🙂
quite a paradox, i dont eat ice cream in RL, but in valheim i love it 😄
I actually do pretty much both
but yea i spend lots of time in the mountains cause of fenris armor
How do I stop dying to these sneaky ass golems when mining silver
Let them meet your trusty Iron Mace.
If that doesn't work, mine a pit elsewhere and lure them in there.
I cant do enough damage and then 2 shot me 😦
Cus im terrible. Also when Im mining im in the hole and trapped
if you trap the 1 or 2 local golems right near your mining ops in a hole, you wont get more spawning in the area
Is it time consuming to dig holes? Also that feels super cheesy, surely theres a more "intended" way of surviving or killing these stupid things
General good tip, before starting mining anything etc. Smack a random stone or chop on a tree 1-2 times just to make sound. Wait a little and see what comes.
Thats helpful
That works in all biomes, as mining and chopping are 2 of the things that makes the most sound.
Also, good mountain tier food, Silver Shield Level 3 and Iron Mace Level 4, and delete them fast with parry combos (need some time to learn when and when not to parry etc.) but once you get it down they die fast and you get crystal for building and maybe just maybe a super rare and stunningly beautiful trophy
Can also lure them towards drakes, then make sure they won't see you but only eachother, sneak around them and go back to your mining area.
But yeah, I tend to just find a silver vein, look around quickly, and then just grab my pickaxe and dig straigth down 8 meters.
From there I can expand out, and I'm deep enough that golems and wolves can't reach me. And if a drake can reach me I can shoot it back (and hide under the silver)
If you're going to fight it, the most common is parry it (Iron shield or buckler. with HHS food should do it on normal), and smack into it with the alt attack from Iron Mace.
If you struggle with the parrying (the timing is weird on the golems, so I know many find it hard), dodge instead toward it, and try to hit it with the iron mace alt attack if you can, normal whacks if not. Slower.
whats peoples take on mods? do you like mods or the full vanilla experience?
I prefer vanilla. But if someone enjoys mods, who am I to tell them they’re having fun the wrong way?
is it important?
Some make nice QoL changes. But generally learning how the game works in vanilla is good.
yeah i get it. i'm playing with some mods now and i feel that it's too easy to progress. i should try it vanilla.
I mean for simple things like a planting grid and tools under water. Nothing that changes difficulty.
I like creating nice environments and atmospheres and it kinda requires plant everything so
val guys?
Full Vanilla, only started using mods this year after playing for 4 whole years without them. I only use ones that do not change a lot, like the one giving me the current time, I like knowing how long until nightspawns appear and disappear for instance, I'm not good at seeing that by looking how dark it is in different biomes or building sundials.
i have the teleport everything mod and i may switch it out for advanced portals. seems too easy to put down a portal, mine the ore, and dip out. idk.. but i dont know how i feel about having to sail back to my base every so often to transfer the ore. idk...
teleport everything
Why?
I'm still playing Vanilla, but have been using some of the world modifiers in one of my games.
Perhaps I may use mods at some point, but from what I've seen from a streamer who's using them a lot, it might make the game too easy to my liking.
yeah it does seem too easy, but it's my own fault. i think i'm going to start a new world with minimal mods.
And perhaps you aren't aware of it, but with the world modifiers you can set portals to teleport everything too now.
No need to use a mod for that (anymore).
i play on a dedicated server that i host on my NAS. just in case my friend wants to play and i dont want to leave my pc on. i dont think i have the ability to use the world modifiers.
You have that ability for sure, its not limited to anything, I run world modifiers on a dedicated server as well.
stagbreaker better than spear? what wep i use im going 2 fight elder now
Depends on the situation when stagbreaker > spear or spear > stagbreaker, for elder go with the spear tho
Something doing slash damage when you are going melee - which basically means an axe - or a bow with fire arrows
Has anyone else played on Vanir's Playground modded server?
I have heard all good things about, and they are about to start a new season, and want to get in on it.
Season 4 launch!
Vanir Playground Season 4 Launch - Get Ready! April 4th. 3pm.
They're different things entirely. Spear is a hand-to-hand combat weapon. Stagbreaker and the other two-handed hammers are crowd control. In the fight against the Elder, neither will be very good. However, the stagbreaker will be good for making some space against greydwarves and trolls that show up. You can whack the ground and then duck out of being surrounded. Against the Elder, who's a tree, slash is best. Fire arrows are good too.
ok is axe good i like 2 parry
maybe atgeir
is there a time frame on deep north?
Also carry lots of stone and wood so you can light campfires under the Elder.
Fire Arrows work well.
If you are running Epic Loot or another Magic Weapon Enchanting mod, you can use fire wands or staves, Rune Magic mod gives summonable Neck NPCs. Lost of fire arrows, a couple bows, and campfires are your basics.
No, it'll be out when it's done.
whats a beehive fo
for honey
I recommend not overloading a new player with info about very specific mod related things, thats confusing and not needed imo
Thought police.
Not sure that means what you think it does. He is right though. Mods shouldn't be the first go-to for new players.
will i have to start playing on a new world once the next biome comes out or will it be available in mine that already exists
New content will spawn in unexplored areas as usual.
Does anyone speak Spanish to play? I'm looking to start a new game and would like to progress at a slower pace. I've played several walkthroug, but never finished them. I hope playing with others will help me progress much further!
I understand you, but keep in mind this game is very old, and many gamers like myself have played many previous games with mods. Mods just come naturally now for any new game, we expect them.
That makes no sense. No matter what your opinion on mods we should always be recommending new players play vanilla for their first playthroughs.
How can I find a group to start a new world with. Everyone from level one like back in the day. That was so much fun. Until someone joined and destroyed our whole town.
#1024264966712340510 should have someone though there's always a risk of griefers.
Why be so limited? Why limit yourself or someone else? Why assume they know nothing about mods?
Thanks
I'm not doing any of those things. But how can someone know what mods they might want without playing the game as intended first?
I got a queen bee but i did not unlock the hive, what to do?
thats weird
indeed, this is my first playthrough
The music is so lovely
did you build a workbench yet?
i found a new way to enjoy very hard mode again
bubble javelin storm ripper and dunr
i can parry once but the stagger time is like 1 sec and theres no other weapon than this 3 can do instant burst dmage
Against what enemies?
Big burst mode activated.
You can use a lot of weapons after parrying charred warriors and morgen, press attack as soon as you parry, you don’t need to wait for the animation to end.
You can
how?
By attacking instantly when the enemy is parried
Difficulty doesn’t change stagger time?
it chnges
Those enemies have low stagger times on normal difficulty too
try it
stagger them using bubble and try do the secondary attcjk it doesnt reach well on chrred warriors reach but u get hit as well so the answr is auto spi9n from javelin or dundr or crossbows they dont need animation
pop bubble reload parry then hit its fuhn
javelin doesnt need reload but low dmage compare to dundr and storm ripper
its too good
Hey there people how are you? im from argentina but i can speak a little english, i want to find someone to have fun on valheim
no they staggerd like 2 sec u can do secondary attack on knife swords greatswords axes
Im seeing that since higher difficulty effects enemy hp, and enemy hp% is what their stagger/parry bar is based off of, then it’s technically harder to parry/stagger enemies solely based on their hp pool being bigger, but it shouldn’t effect the time they’re actually stunned/staggered for. Interesting.
it affects
Can we send videos here? I’d like to see it.
If that’s the case the wiki should reflect that.
true lol
true lol
i just discoverd this last night
Awww 🙏
You might have better chances to find someone to play from posting or searching here: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
What is the javelin?
himminafl
Thanks! have fun!
Pointless preference thought? I’m trying to figure out if I should basically just use all swords if my end goal is to mainly use the two handers from mist/ashlands. or if I should switch around from blunt/slash/pierce until I get to that tier. I’ve never tried bone mass without using a mace, but I wonder if the exp from just only using sword would be worth it. I usually die maybe 4ish times a biome, but I’ve never made it to planes so I wonder if I’ll just lose all my exp anyways 🤡
just go mistlands afteru get bronze nails kill moder then straight mistlands
very easy death modifier i use it
3x loot and very hard
get balckforger get arbalest or just find deathsquito and cheese moder
That sounds spooky. The only cheesy skippy stuff I’ve used is baiting wolves into meadows early lol. I play on vanilla settings and I don’t think I want to mess with anything as far as that goes.
Interesting idea though!
How long did it take ash to drop from when it was teased?
I could just google it..
“Approximately one and a half years of development” so maybe 🤔
Sword is amazing
And it will hold up VERY well on later biomes.
Some of the best weapons in the game are swords
Sure you may lose some skill to deaths, but you will be able to use them better with some focus on developing that weapon’s skill rate than trying a little of everything
Sure, some mobs may be a little resistant to a particular weapon type, but with some practice and patience, you can overcome anything 🔥
or like just play how ever you want and then complain about skill levels not leveling up fast enough
That’s kinda what I wanted to hear, wanting to do multiple playthroughs like no map challenge and axe only and stuff in the future anyways. So this kinda gives me an excuse to just focus on swords this time around.
They will level up faster if you use the weapon more often 😂
I focused just on using sword the whole game and have mine around lvl 80 something now
Hit like a truck with my KROM
i used knives till mountains then switched to swords cause a viking in heavy armor with a knive and shield looks kinda pathetic
I was calculating damage from skill vs vulnerability damage and they seem comparable enough to like… not really worry too much about it.
My new playthrough is using knives and light armor
Definitely wanna do that at some point. Knives bow and such.
Was very satisfying leveling that skill up
You slowly start to do more and more damage until you are one-shotting enemies that you’d struggle with previously
RIP the greydwarf brutes that died by my hand 😂
i used light armor all the way to the mountains, then didnt wanna go into mountain caves with wood armor and switched to silver heavy armor and now im just a normal viking with a max level iron sword and iron mace and shield
Is there no light armor variant in mountains?
there is
There is
It’s very good, but damned annoying to craft
but you need to go into caves with either heavy armor or very flammeble light armor
Just go into the explains early and make firewine 😂
Ahhh cause wood
Also, the mt light armor requires a VERY rare mob trophy to craft it
you could use troll armor i guess but you wont have much protection against wolves and well much of anything
I’m gonna do it in troll leather
Boar head or something right? I never made it to moder but I’ve heard about that drop desire sensoring the hell out of people
RIP one little fishy 😂
Nope - no spoilers here 😂
And drakes trophy is for the heavy armor set
Ahhh
When you get there and the mob in question starts trying to cook you in your armor then you’ll know you’ve found the right one 🤭
I shall remain surprised. I’ve managed avoiding ashlands and mistlands spoilers so far - aside from learning that great axes are… Mia
I hate what you’re saying
Why fire in ice place. Make it make sense.
I have a clip of it happening to a poor soul actually
lol itried to avoid it before but i like to watch building tricks on yt and these yotuubers wear ashlands armor and wepons
i have memory of it happening to me actually
Mt tier battleaxe is viable the entire game 🥳
I slaughtered entire villages of fulings, and raided the Ashlands with that beauty
Forreal??
the whole using a crystal heavy axe is just kinda weird for me (coming froma skyrim player that likes the glass armor)
For real 🔥
I see where you’re coming from
This… is amazing news for axe fans around the world, in which I’m sure I’m one of the only ones who didn’t know lol.
The axe is pretty.
If I had my way, I’d be in wolf armor and wearing a linen cape the whole game 😂
Actually I’d also add in a serpent scale shield and the mistlands 1 handed sword
They just look SO GOOD as a set 🔥
Any reason to think deep north will release this year?
Not specifically as far as I know.
Time to invest into a crystal battleaxe then
That’s what I’m saying. Right after I… I mean I just put a portal down in the swamp in my current world so. Ways to go
I really like the 2 hand axes animation but there are none after black metal
I assume the crystal battleaxe holds up because spirit damage. Either way it’s nice to have a viable endgame big axe.
But reading it's stats, it's actually pretty good
The last chain hit deals 2x the damage
And secondary attack deals a bit of knockback incase you get cornered
The secondary attack also deals more stagger
I love the great axe poke secondary.
Really? The entire month's blogpost is literally just a frozen greydwarf? I wouldn't even call that a teaser, more like a single crumb. C'mon...
While I’d like to see more, it does make me wonder about a frozen debuff, shatter potential, and using frozen enemy statues as supports for structures/decoration.
I want Frozen North to finally add a real reason to build and fortify a base. Actual walls, defenses (new things, not just spikes and ballista). None of the previous biomes gave you a real reason to build other than for funsies and areas to farm.
Like a revamp on the raiding system? Or do you mean other than enemies?
Something like a Fimbulwinter where waves of enemies come at you. So yes a sort of revamp to the raid system unique to Deep North.
Oooh. Having a wave defense mechanic could be cool. I see what you mean.
This is their last chance to make a biome that really focuses on building a base, both for protection from the elements and to withstand enemy attacks.
Time to put all that stone, wood and other materials you've been gathering the whole game to use. Ship it all to the North and build with it.
Give us new defenses, a tower with a runecrystal on the top that auto-repairs structures around it. The works.
Morgen gjall.
Morgen
I also hope they add quests too or even juman npcs/villages 😭 love the game but it would definitely spice it up more
Human*
It's never going to be an rpg, so don't hope for that. There might pop up another trader somewhere though with a "quest", like with Hildir. I liked those, new and different places to assault, with some mini-bosses, it was a nice touch.
Well i just went to the mistlands for a first time and i have to say that is a mordor 😭😭😭
It is a lovely place, but the locals are unfriendly
I think adding points of interest to add more life/spice would be cool. But I don’t really want the world to have “rpg style quests” as much as I would like to see more hildur style quests. But it would be sad for them to add like, an npc that needs 10 copper bars or something.
Seems unnecessary. I used to wish the world felt more “alive” but thematically with the setting, it makes sense that it feels desolate and mostly uninhabited.
Yeah, it is an afterlife realm to be fair. Something I would have liked is a way to actually interact with the dvergr other than opting to attack them. It seems a little odd to me that the only way to acquire a certain item is to either kill the dvergr for it, or to cheeze it with methods. I'd like to simply offer them gold, gems, iron or whatever for it.
Gjall, tick and seeker trophies perhaps.
I wan't to try to invade ashlands before defeating the Queen, for the challenge. My objective is to place a portal there but my main concern is regarding the cinder rains, as I won't be able to build the Shield generator, do you know any other way to protect it ?
Cover it with non-flammable material like stone building pieces.
Does regular stone works ?
Yes, I can confirm it works. I've done it once.
Ok! thanks a lot 🙂
And once you can craft ||stone portals|| you don't need to cover them anymore.
Large natural slopes - like one of the very steep slopes that the player would slide down if not sprinting - the ones you can find in the meadows separated by a thin stream. Fairly large. If you decided to build a base glued to the side of the slope, since enemies would still spawn on the slope (because unlike a 90 degree wall they would still be able to navigate it) how would you recommend defending your base around swamp level. Going out to meet the raiders would be difficult on your stamina because of the slope, but wouldn’t really affect enemies, correct?
I try to avoid the teaser posts so as to not spoil anything but... Was there any comment about a potential release date of the next update?
Nope, and release dates usually won't be communicated because it violates Steam's Early Access Rules.
That must not be enforced much because I see many early access games detailing release dates for major updates. Is this different because DN is effectively 1.0 release?
They pretty much don't really enforce them. It also says that you're pretty much disallowed to publish a roadmap. Still, many EA games do it.
Everything discussed falls under "Do not make specific promises about future events." https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/earlyaccess
No release dates have really been posted long in advance.
Those ea devs do it when they're absolutely sure the update in question WILL be released at that date, this is about making promises about an update IG is not sure when it will be out
They can't state a date for something early in development, as no one can predict the future and know for sure the date of release
Customers should be buying your game** based on its current state**, not on promises of a future that may or may not be realized.
This should be a pinned message in every ea game server
If Valve would enforce these rules, yes. 😄
But yeah, the customer side generally needs to get more info on what EA is and what they're buying and spending money on. That little disclaimer with a few FAQs (which don't even touch on the discussed topic) on the store page isn't enough. In any case, that's more #general now than anything else. 😄
EA Its all in the game!
EE, EEEEEE
Hi. I'm trying to start a Valheim roleplay-centered server. Whoever's interested can PM me. Thx!!!111
Make a post in #1024264966712340510 instead, this is the chat channel
Alright OG
I have a question I have seen some people say that the deep north might not release this years is this just a speculation or has this somehow been confirmed
tldr: nobody knows. Smiffe said it was not going to release anytime soon.
I do wonder if people truly believe that this discord's members will ever have exclusive, VIP info that wouldn't be found literally anywhere else
is there a way to move the chest UI a bit down ? have a mod that gives more space and its covering my inventory
i went from 20 hrs to 280 hrs in this game. Valheim is the goat
Is there any information about when Deep North will be released?
lol next winter is wild
and more importantly: Wrong
fr
It might be right, it might not be, no one knows.
Until stated otherwise, assume that yes, it is wrong
Where do you get that information?
The game is supposed to be released when it is done not sooner or later.
When that will be no one knows.
That is the best way to look at it but it might be right ;p
Do you know when the new biome is coming out???
Yes, the info is right here #news
The facepalm from rianu is fitting.
It lines up but doesn't mean squat and AI only works with what we feed it at the moment.
So as long as there is no word from the developer don't go spreading that info, it might come true but no one knows for sure.
You can keep to your prediction all you want, just don't go spreading that, else people will start believing that and if it comes sooner or later people will complain.
Geysers have always seemed a little strange to me lol that’s pretty nice though!
So true
i just got 3 surtling geysers next to each other 😎 #screenshots
Ooh, you might want to put that in #1202740443352137838
let me check my seed
bruh i cant post images there?
what the heck
oh nvm i didnt see that the image i uploaded is at the top right corner
AI can never predict when we will release the big Deep north update. That was just confirmed by that statement 😅
he is saying that because its the truth and they dont want people to know it
AI knows everything

could someone please answer quick. Should i make an iron axe or a bow with my last irons? I have the finewood bow lvl 2 right now and the bronze axe lvl1
You will do fine with bronze axe for woodcutting unless you plan to use it as your weapon.
so i could manage with a bronze axe until black metal?
Correct, only after plains you need stronger axe which would be black metal.
thank you
I love building, so I always make the iron axe too 😄
But yeah its not necessary. Just more comfortable
Bronze Axe and Finewood Bow works just fine for a while. I wouldn't bother with spending iron for upgrading those myself. But I know some really like the iron bow. Personally I just wait for the mountain one.
I dont upgrade bow until Draugr. I dont really use bow in the swamp. But for tools and such, I generally go iron. I dont have the need to play efficient at all time
But nothing wrong with thsose who plays efficiently
I usually get the huntsman bow and skip draugr fang
You use melee for Moder?
When she's on land, yes
What weapon?
And when she isn't, I'm still using mountains-tier arrows
Haha I'm just lazy, so I tend to minimize what I need. Bronze axe will last me until plains, and even then it tends to be one of the last things I upgrade there.
I tend to rush for finewood bow, and just keep it until I get the mountain one. Not like silver is hard to get or used for much else.
I tend to use draugr bow with poison arrows for moder. Still takes a long time though
Fire arrows*
Obsidian arrows are better, even with the fire weakness
Ill keep that in mind
I hate fighting Moder lol. The terrain and constant wolf attack makes me insane
Not even the wolves, but the drakes...
I make the huntsman bow because my bow skill is usually very low, so I need as much base damage as possible to kill drakes quickly enough, and I then keep it because the lower sound radius is incredibly useful in plains for fuling camps.
It's a bit of a wash, but poison arrows do more damge per say, but you can't stack poison, so it's best if you swap to that inbetween other arrows.
Fire does stack so it's not as bad as it seems like on numbers.
But generally pure obsidian does more damage in general.
If you want to be optimal, then a bunch fo arrow swapping.... which I'm too lazy for, so I'll just do obsidian or whatever I got.
Fire does stack but that doesn't generate any extra damage, the total damage per arrow is always the same.
Whats considered "very low" level for bow?
Im sitting at lvl 20 bow right after Mass
I would only prefer to use a bow for serpents before I reach mountains, I use melee wherever possible
Fair. I did some fire arrow usage for Trolls at the beginning, but otherwise I hunt quite a lot with bows
I don't really have a perspective on what's high or low any longer. It really just depends on how much you've played your character.
I guess what I wondered was, is level 20 bow worth using Draugr for Moder over Huntsman? I dont remember the flat pierce on both
I'd go with draugr for the higher damage myself, but eh, it's a long slog of a fight no matter what, so I don't think it matters all that much
Draugr fang has 5 more base pierce
Obsidian arrows have 10 more pierce than ironhead arrows, so upgrading arrows is more important
Its a slog of a fight because of the 200 Drakes that spawns over the duration of the fight. I hate add focused boss fights
And I don't remember for Draugr since it has split damage types. But generally a maxed weapon from the previous biome is the same damage as a level 1 weapon in new biome. Same with armour. (different durabilities though)
Maxed weapons have less base damage than level 1 at the next biome tier
Hmm, pretty sure a level 4 bronze axe is just better durability than level 1 iron axe.
Level 1 iron axe has more chop and slash damage
Hmm slight difference, 1 chop damage and 5 slash damage. But a good chunk more dura.
Ok sword and mace has 2 more damage on level 1 iron. I stand corrected, but it's still small enough to really not matter much :)
Me just beating the elder, building a base on the side of a very tall mountain, still technically in the black forest. I hear shrieking up above me, far far away a small winged creature is popping in and out of my Render distance.
Sitting here in bronze armor building, sounds like a whole lot of none of my business up there
Yeah, you're in the Mountains, a whole biome ahead.
Yeah thats a Drake. Look forward to deal with those ALL, THE, TIME!
I seem to be.... Fine? Made some fire arrows just to be safe. But it's been a few days. I'll name him, feed him and then visit him once I'm equipped. It's just funny hearing the shrieking, looking up and being like... "I'm minding my own business, everything is fine" lol
Its ulcer inducing
Yeah, Mountains is the farthest I've gotten, but that was before the cave update. I remember very much loathing them lol.
Maybe if he recognizes we can be chill he'll just be a homie and drop a trophy
I love the looks of the mountain. But the Moder fight was hands down my least enjoyable experience. Last time I played, I managed to reach Mistlands though. Didnt get to the boss before I burnt out
I really want to find a mountain cliff bordering a meadow. I want to make mountains my main base after I tackle plains, but no growing veggies makes me sad
We'll see if I can keep the fire going lol
I normally make my "primary" base in the plains. I find it easier to find flat lands, and form the terrain to my liking. Meadows is the most beautiful, but man, too many hills
Yeah, I feel like a large chunk of time can easily be spent terraforming if you're not careful.
@languid echo How dare you clown emote me. Dont you know that kind of thing hurts my feelings?!
Does seem a weird thing to do having not even been involved in the conversation.
Yup.
trolls and other wierd things..
I mean, Im a clown quite often
Also hello Smiffe, nice seeing you here still. You doing well?
I'm still alive this friday night
I am happy you are alive this friday night
Valheim actually helped me push myself into viking culture, and Im now a full fledged reecnactor and viking warrior!
Im part of a group and all
Is it just me or does Cooking grow strangely slowly compared to the other new skills?
Not that it matters much, but it is lagging behind both farming (by A LOT) and crafting, despite me not really crafting much except arrows at this point. I've been cooking a crapload though.
For me crafting grew the slowest 🤔 never had problem with the cooking
Be sure to look at #1024264966712340510 😄
But you can also play solo, it is mainly meant to be played that way anyway
Honestly the best way to learn the basics of the game, easy to miss stuff if playing with others who have already progressed a bit or just know everything already
whern test of deep north?
No info yet. When it is ready...

WE'RE RICH!
It feels that way because you spend a lot less time cooking as you're doing other things.
Reason for that, most players usually create a stack of 10 food, times 3 for the three foods, and that's it.
Since one food lasts 20 minute minimum, you can do a lot of wood cutting, mining, fighting or even crafting in that time.
So timewise, cooking is used less and thus levels up slower as well.
Also: crafting doesn't just apply at the time you spend at a crafting station like the workbench or a forge; it's also applies to all the building you do. And since most players build a lot, crafting is one of the "sub-skills" that seems to go up quite fast.
I’m sure this has probably been talked about before but do any of you think Valheim will ever come to PlayStation?
I wouldnt give it many hopes personally and almost surely not until it leaves early access
Certainly not as long as it's in EA due to some policies of Sony.
After the 1.0 release......
We don't know.
I really hope it does. My PC has started giving issues and I don’t have an Xbox 😭
Thing is most of my building was done before the Bog Witch update, or I would probably have maxed it out. I really haven't built much since I came back. I have, however done a lot of farming and cooking - and the farming has soared ahead almost twice as far as the cooking skill, although I have objectively cooked more than I have farmed. I do more cooking than I strictly need to - I used to cook for a small group of friends and I've stuck to the patterns even solo, so I keep at least one chest full of health foods and one with stamina foods, once they slip below 2/3 I restock. Plus I've decorated my outposts with these delicious looking feasts... Er, make that two chests of health foods, counting the "base loitering" chest with cooked seeker meat and other cheap stuff.
Granted, I've been crafting wagonloads of needle and frost arrows, feels like I burn through stacks every outing..
what armor should i get for swamp? rn i got upgraded troll armor
That is more than enough 🙂
make lvl3 if possible
Troll is good, bronze slows you down for a very small defense increase (not worth it)
idk im still dying to the blobs, the poison drainsmy hp
Have you made poison resist mead? 😄
no
There are two new with swamp materials, and it all depends on how you like to play. Iron armour gives you a little more tanking capacity - but slows you down. The root helmet gives poison resist which is very handy in the swamp, and the chest has a special place in the heart of most valheim players...
Then that should be the next thing 🙂
ok thanks
Make a lot, it will come in handy 😄
A sneaky gjall, that was a first. None of the honking, suddenly I was bombed senseless out of nowhere. Bastich!
sorry new player im a bit confused. i tamed two lox's in the plains..but they killed two fuelings no they not kill other lox's? cus i had a couple of lox's chasing me and my tamed ones just stood there.
Tamed creatures will not fight their own
Wild lox will not attack your tamed ones either, so it swings both ways
ohh okay cool
They respawn in the same place, mark them on the map when you pick them
If the bushes get broken blueberries won't respawn, but thistles cannot be destroyed
oh ok thanks
how am i meant to kill queen if my sword doesnt even survive half the fight? lmao
bring a spare (:
DMs open for fun
I hate to ask this but is there like a FAQ or a time table of certain updates of valheim like how some games say “q1 X update, Q3 Y update”
Bring a spare, bring multiple weapons, or run out of the fight and repair.
Nope. The official timeline for everything is "when it's done".
Hey thank you man that all I need to know LOL
Or when it's ready!
What sword do you have? 🙂
mistwalker level 3
That should be quite enough 🤔 are you perhaps playing on harder difficulty?
im just having to run away a lot so she heals a big % of her hp back
server should be back to normal, but its not impossible that its still on hard
You can setup repair stations right outside the entrance, so you don't need long breaks.
Just portaling home and back for repairs should not take more than minute really 🙂
howdie
That could be it, the first time i fought her i also had mistwalker and was able to kill her in one durability even when dying like 3-4 times, but hard difficulty could make it quite a bit longer fight
Can also be other things:
- how much durability you spend on fighting the adds
- sword skill level
My first time fighting queen, I used frostner on both the boss and the adds, so it wore out and I had to repair it.
Later on I brought Demolisher for the adds, and didn't use the main weapon (forgot what it was atm) and didn't need to repair.
is queen literally meant to be a 1 hour boss fight
i dont have the materials to craft enoguh ooze and bile bombs to deal with the ads either
I had a lot of luck against her using the fire ball staff
she's' very weak to fire it seems
If you'd like help Id be more then happy to join ❤️ I just beat her and finally found the next biome. So not too far ahead
Nope, she is neutral to fire 🙂 magic is just really easy to use, some would say even OP
i died AGAIN
at least i got her down to half hp i guess.... if thats anything to be happy about
I didnt know that ❤️ I've been having a blast with magic, kinda in my own lil tunnel
0 death playthrough take 2!
do carrot seeds regrow in the same spot?
They don't regrow in the wild.
Use the hoe to plan a carrot back into the ground to get more seeds.
Cultivator*
They do regrow in the wild.
They don't regrow at your own farm plot, however.
Huh, interesting, I've never seen that. When found first seed, and kept walking past same spot regularly, haven't seen it grow back.
Seed carrots and seed turnips regrow in the wilds. Just like thistle, Berries (both) and the Mushrooms.
The only things that don't regrow are the Flax and Barley in the Plains and cut down trees / bushes / Yggdrasil shoots.
berries (all)*
||sorry feel a bit nitpicky today :D||
Doesent seem like they do 🤔 i have now been waiting for number of minutes with timescale all the way up and using timeskip, i have found carrot seeds in wild and blueberries right next to it and the blueberry bush has grew new berries like 6 or 7 times and still no carrot regrowing
shes dead... legit took 1 full hour, 2 sword repairs and 3 deaths
If that's true, then it's a bug.
I've always had carrot and turnip seed plants regrowing.
It was naturally generated, but i will try fresh world just in case
Yeah, same, but i will give it a try in fresh world just in case i simply missed it 🙂
I can probably with some confidence say. it's a one time spawn
Might be bug on your end then Thorin 🤔
I blame Thorin
Well, it's certainly bugging me now
just stand next to where they are, pick them. skiptime 90000
if they don't respawn. they won't
Guess I need to send a char into the BF, look for seeds, pick them up, mark it and see if they are respawning or not.
Doing right now 🙂 with timescale active just in case
Seeds are one time
Only berries from berry bush regrow, right?
Correct, berries will respawn on berry bushes. It’s a good idea to mark bushes on your map so you can find/collect them easier
Yeah.. I did that.. just I also marked mushroom and thristles
💀
Mushrooms are a pain to find, is there a mod to make them glow?
naah, just mark them
lower settings
vegetation quality
I did
Don't look for them at night, that makes it quite a bit harder 😄
Best part of the no food run is converting all meats into coal
save so much wood
The moment I decided to transfer my copper suddenly there's a million shaman trying to fight me
i only ever get raided when im trying to build
Yo how do I get the frost resist mead
I have 2 upgrades on the cauldron and all ingredients but I ain’t got the recipe
Did you try the other pot you can put over fire to make meads in? (Don't remember name)
you need a mead ketil now
urgent question, how do i stop a caged lox from rampaging and breaking containment
Generally you don't. If it's first enraged there's very little you can do other than get out of the way until it calms down again.
it has escaped lol
Yeah, that tends to happen.
im gonna kill it i guess and then just rebuild the cage, make it stronger for when i bring a new one
I think the most common way to tame lox, is to just tame them where they are. And then craft the saddle to ride them home.
might be my best bet
They're generally a pain to keep contained. (Unless you want to abuse earthwalls)
will they eat the food and become tame even if im not too closeby?
Nope you need to be near enough, but not close enough that they sense you.
People often just use cloudberries they find dropping them nearby lox ner their bases in plains when going in and out.
ah okay. maybe i will build a stone cage nearby my base, my friend built it inside our walled encampment
They'll destroy stone as well, just takes a little bit longer. The point is that you don't want them to see/sense you so they get angry, or they'll just go wreck anything they can find.
will there ever be dried up gjallings and happy gjalls????
Bring me their heads!!!
I need them for decoration… 🤭
does their head glow or sum
The eyes have a lovely green glow
I have shaman trophies :> I don't need em
ive killed like 11 but no trophies so far :/
Almost got killed by a broom O_O that was an experience
how does one achieve this
is the broom agro?!
playing the black forest during night is so frustrating holy
can't stay 1 second without a troll or 500 monster spawn out of nowhere
yall im new and confused. my black forge says it can level my mist sword but..it requires level 3 black forge lol...i dont have anything past forge cooler? what am i missing
Sometimes it will show planned upgrade levels but they won't be available yet. I am not sure about that specific weapon though.
I need to kill Modor twice for her head :P
terrible power, don't even bother mounting it
Her head is pretty big, and after watching the animated trailer, Hearth and Home, I think it would be a great deco
Useful in their ways, imo using it with friends while exploring is good. You can have others bringing Bonemass or Eithytr
best power in the game when not fighting xd
Anyone want to play?
moder is probably the 2nd most used power in the game
i was seeing on reddit that the black forge is supposed to get an update to be able to upgrade to level 3...but that was TWO years ago lol...
so figured id ask otherwise my weapons arent gonna be able to be leveled. edit to add --- looks like im just missing a mechanical spring and it can upgrade!
Shame on you - Leave Kevastar alone!
Level 2 is all you need :)
Jk
The more level the more POWAAA
I didn't expect it to attack since it was a friendly tbh.
Pretty sure we had similar reactions from people who accidentally/intentionally provoked a Dverger 🤭
Kvastur and Dvergr will anger each other if they're nearby and you damage one
Didn’t have any raids after ~ 3 sessions of playing on a new world, kinda forgot they existed. Got lax and started working on a build for fun after beating the elder, walking around without a care in the world.
A foul smell from the swamp
LoL

I am going to say that stonecutting and shingles being pushed to post-elder and post-moder is really infuriating for somebody who plays the game (in large) to build
I’m not sure if this sentiment is shared amongst other people
How so?
No-body says that you need to build your entire base in one go.
It's not that much of a problem to replace building pieces once you got new material.
And it's a lot easier to start only building large once you have stone in the first place.
Stonepieces are (usually) used as a foundation, or I would assume so since it seems to be the case for many builds I see, and replacing foundation can be tricky and annoying. Furthermore, while I agree it’s not “impossible” per se to replace preexisting structures, it feels like unneeded work
True, but realistically humans were building with wood before we used stone - so progression wise it makes sense
Also, I think your point is a lot more solid if we were talking about something like black marble, or gausten, because both of those are “niche” or at the very least reasonable “variants” of stone, which is used everyyywhere in building.
It's just a matter of planning.
When you know you want to use stone as foundation, you dont build the entire building, but only one that's large enough to hold a bed and a campfire. Workbench and forge can be put elsewhere under a roof.
Then after you get stone you can start building your main building, using stone as a foundation and build your way up from there.
It just feels kind of awful thinking to yourself “Hmm. I can’t wait to build this” and then have to not use such a vital piece of building
The game has a progression system - if you don't like it then you can turn it off and just build in hammer mode
I agree that this works, in a vacuum, because it doesn’t consider new players. When a friend and I started playing the game we didn’t use the wiki at all, and so we had no idea when, no if we could even build with stone at all. And we didn’t know if we had to delay our creativity until multiple dozens of hours into gameplay because stone was unlocked later.
I s'pose you feel the same about Iron weapons and magic?
The reason I mention this is because the aforementioned friend and I are going to be playing with 2-3 new friends. Since we have so many new people, we won’t be able to progress to the elder and get iron fast because we don’t want to rush our other friends and actually let them enjoy the game. It makes it so that we have to build with nothing but wood, finewood, and corewood for possibly hours of gameplay. It just doesn’t make much sense to me that building with stone is placed so far in progression. With shingles, I can understand that they’re at least a bit more of a luxury.
Well, no, since those need to be balanced. Building with stone doesn’t really, and saying “building durability” is not a compelling argument since you can make indestructible walls for cheaper with a hoe
why am I not allowed to enjoy the game’s survival aspects while simultaneously enjoying it’s sandbox elements as well? Both can exist, and should, without restricting the other so much that it feels exclusively like the other.
Because it's part of the progression, as it was already mentioned
Understandable.
However, now that you know how the game works, you can brute force the mechanics of the game and work around it with skill
The game does have an open platform allowing you to brave more dangerous biomes without fully gearing up
I'm currently doing that in my new playthrough cause I also want iron
I understand that it might be like “immersion” to an extent, but I don’t see any reasonable argument against why stonecutters can’t be crafted in at least the black forest. Considering you see more stone structures there than you do in the swamp in any case.
I might even try and sneak into the mistlands in my troll armor - but I suspect I am going to die horribly 😆
I’ve done that with tar pits so many times. So many deaths lol
anything for those stupid shingle rooves
what should I do if he doesn't connect a friend to the server?
Same!
I snuck into the plains last week with the same results 🙈
But I did get the tar 🥳
Worth every death
Ppfftt I was considering playing more passively as a “farmer” with my friends until I realized the scythe needs silver. I’m going to be smashing my head against the mountain side with a stagbreaker trying to steal 4 silver ingots before I get beat up by a gang of wolves
actually 6* silver bruh
can you still do the glitch to enter crypts with a finewood chair?
yes
Late, but I get where you’re coming from @median stream, I was literally in the middle of my build when I realized I need the stonecutter to put my kiln and smelter set up how I want it. It would be nice to have the stonecutter earlier, but I also understand the other side. As someone who’s never made it to the planes, I’ve never experienced real roofs. But that also provides a lot of motivation for me to get there. So in my case it’s a motivator, even if there’s a slight frustration.
Me panicing cause I cant find my boat in the swamp...
Curse my abismal cartography skills! 😆
My brain prioritizes remembering to pin the 80th copper vein over the new teleporter I placed. Every. Time.
anyone down to help with a burial chamber?
I have 3 archers camping behind a door in hard difficulty lmao
If I was home I would be there, sorry. Don’t have the deer trophies to whip up a quick stag breaker?
I understand the logic of brittle skeletons being vulnerable to blunt damage. But why are squishy slimes and Bonemass vulnerable? If anything, the slice of a sword should be best
you didn't lie
I'm trying to come up with explanations/solutions for blunt damage until the thought is refined enough for a specific post in #suggestions in order to farm a little confidence, be forgotten and never mentioned again by anyone
Everyone is essentially forced to go for a mace, I would like some more variety
cutting jello in real life is a pain. On the other hand jello tends to fucking explode at the slightest blunt force
have you ever dropped jello from the counter?
Let me google what that is, I mostly eat solid food
its the most slime substance I can think of
Can you light jello on fire?
Idk I’ve never tried
Or freeze it and THEN shatter it
In general back and forth motions cannot cut elastic materials well. It’s why castsaws do not cut the skin. Swords don’t work against them for that reason
but you can always hit something hard enough to cause it to explode :D
lvl 48 run skill after spending the last 30 minutes emptying crypts of their iron...
And I'm only half done
You're never done with iron
One of the things in this game i personally love is backtracking through biomes I’ve beat the boss of, obtained the next tier of gear/food and seeing the enemies that used to give me trouble get obliterated. Like walking around the Black Forest in upgraded swamp tier stuff and hanging with greydwarves/parrying trolls. Is that a trend for all biomes, say, mistlands gear in the planes for example? Or is the gap between gear less noticeable as you advance.
You can parry trolls with black forest gear tho
Sorry, I should have clarified, parrying a troll with an upgraded battleaxe, killing him in like 4 hits and yelling “Timbuuur” like a lumberjack cutting down a strange blue tree.
do you guys know if there's a flower-like crown in the game that you can get?
Only available in summer
i've seen some youtubers have them on their character
interesting
Same as the Yule tree
Squse me, same as the yule pole - also only craftable in summer
June to October it’s craftable
not le bad
Make a bunch, keep them on a character and then then you have backups!
Are they tradable? I’d assume I’m not the only person who thought of this. If I had ever caught the window to make one I’d let you have one. You might be able to find someone who can give you one if it’s super important (which fashion is)
If you're going to do that, just spawn them in.
Oh duh 🤡
is there any news to when the next updates comes out (just like a general time like summer or winter this yr or next yr)
Nope.
Only the devs might know and they won't tell.
So far we have gotten updates in form of monthly blog posts during the end of month period. They will announce in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816 once they have more info about the update to share.
There's still a gap, roaming around the plains (in Mistlands gear) is rarely threatening- but there are enemies that hit pretty hard, so you'll need stay alert or you'll easily get yourself in trouble. Letting the rested buff drop off is never a good idea, the best gear won't help you much if surrounded by enemies while out of stamina
Hi. Kinda new to the game. I just unlocked the cauldron and have a question. Why would i ever make boar jerky? cooking the meet and eating the honey is almost double the stat gain instead of cooking
The ingredients have more stat gain but across two food slots. Jerky has a long duration and the equal amount of health and stamina allows more options for your health-stamina ratio
i just crafted my first bronze nails that shuold give me 20 each but i got 81??? what
Crafting skill 🎰
this just annoying. is there something that takes exactly 1 nail?
reminds me of losing carts while getting wood
ive searched like 30 minutes + in some cases trying to find my cart bro, pisses me off
what love potion do and why
It increases troll spawn rate, minimum stars, and chance for a second star. It also makes trolls aggro instantly when close enough.
Trolls cannot spawn with stars if they are too close to the world centre, unless spawned in a troll raid.
Why? I think it’s either a joke item, or testing for mechanics that may be reused in deep north.
item stands 🙂
What I did is build a small cabin on stilts over a pit in the mountains
I would lure the wolves into the pit then sit in my cabin and throw food in for them
That way I am nearby so they can tame and also allows me to stay away from the wolves so they don’t aggro
yeah carve out a pit in the side of a mountain and lure them into it is the standard method
a fire and some shelter is nice too since you will be there a while
oh okayy i'm gonna do this right now thank uuuuu
i also recommend breeding them there and keeping 2 in that pit for safe keeping, in case something happens to the other ones you take out
wait.. every single one of fader's attacks are pierce??
how tf do parry bonuses and block strenght work why did my shield become useless after changing from fenris set to padded
Your armor has minimal effect on blocking, only affecting the damage taken after blocking. Do you have less health now?
When will the new region arrive?
Parry bonus multiplies block armor when parrying. Block armor reduces damage the same way normal armor does, applied before damage modifiers and armor.
It arrives when it’s ready. Probably not until next year.
Well all of the melee ones yea
so root harnesk and fire resist pot
yep
as long as you don't get hit by any of the ranged attacks, fader can literally not outpace your passive hp regen if you have the root harnesk and some flametal armor lol
but we'll still see people that deny how good the root harnesk is 🙃
i mean damage goes from 200 to 100 so thats pretty damn good
If you use root harnesk or bonemass power and block him with a serpent scale shield, it is possible to take an amount of damage small enough for no damage number to appear.
Lost me at tower shields
ooooh i didnt know it was resistant against pierce
thats awesome
serpent shield is the only tower shield i support use of
-15 percent movement speed...
well sorry unless youre in Ashlands its the best option🙏
I use all the tower shields
bros playin on hard mode
i could see using towershields if you're in a server too laggy to parry, but parrying is too overpowered. and it's fun. I definitely think they should buff tower shields. They should all give some kinda resistance like the serpentscale shield and slow you down a little less.
or maybe they should allow you to parry but you only do 50% more damage
Resistances might be too powerful, they just need more block armor
You can already take 0 damage from the final boss, if we get shield resistances for other damage types you’d be able to do that against anything
You really don't need to buff tower shields
They are there for people who don't want to parry
And you are forgetting about the knockback element
Nothing works better at giving you space to fight than a good tower shield on high block skill
Parry is great for single targets as it is difficult to time things properly when 4-5 enemies are trying to hit you
They each have their roles and uses
Aaaand I just hit run 50
that feeling when atgeirs do knockback better than towershields
Crowd control 👍
If the tower shield wasn’t slowing you down you could just use the s key to create enough distance
And you still do a really good amount of knockback - I use atgirs when I don't have something to put my back against
I like tower shields, but I don't really use them. At one point I wanna do a tower shield and spear run and see how that goes.
Maces are probably one of the better weapons to use with a tower shield because of the high stagger on the secondary attack
maces also happen to obliterate certain enemy types
I would rather use a spear if viable (spears are useless against stone golems for example) as i can hit faster, level up the skill faster, and once you perfect the spear throw as your enemies are closing, you can do immense damage from relative safety
atgeir > spear
Atigier = no shield
ye, but they can block and parry on their own kek
don't need a shield if everything is just staggered
We are talking about a viable weapon to use with a tower shield
also atgeir can actually parry pretty well
Usually how I play lol
if you want to troll yourself by using a tower shield then a mace goes a long way. ye
You really don't need to use the "meta" strat to just enjoy playing the game man.
bows are great if something is too far away to stab it
Parry is always going to be better than tower shields because it takes skill to do properly
but if you mess up, you die
it isnt about "meta", its about crippling self slows
Even close range, I'm just a speed demon with the fenris set
especially on hard mode which is where I know alot of this thought process is coming from
High risk high reward
You have meads and other mechanics to work around it
Not everyone wants to play with high risk high reward gameplay
I mean hardmode just favors atgeirs even more lol
ironically tower shield become better in hard mode due to parry tresholds
How?
That's why I blow wjth bows. I could play upclose and go for high risk parries... buuuuut.
I'm more focused on vibes over efficiency. Like knife&bow combo. Be all roguey.
Love me some knife bow
Haven't made it to mistlands yet, but eventually I'm going to do a knifebow only run and I'm excited for the knife there
I feel like a rogue dude. I even keep a crossbow just for that high burst then repositioning
Crossbow enjoyers
I've been leaning towards spellcasting a bit, just to get a taste of it, yknow? I think it's cool to keep multiple sets: 1. For group play, different roles. 2. For different vibes
Maybe one day I wanna be Gandalf the dangling.
Mage is really strong, worth giving it a shot
Also spellcasting is just good for body recovery squads
I've actually been looking for others as a sort of tour guide, lol. I've played with one dude who wanted me to jsut run around with him. Not get too involved, but as a bodyguard so he could feel more comfortable branching out into the wild
Tower shield + knife enjoyers.
simply less risky since stagger tresholds and frens change
but its still worse than ya know, parrying xd
Well, that is the point
hey, is it normal that my ||flametal is'nt sinking when i mine it?|| I can literally mine it all
The chance for flametal to sink was reduced, now it's 1% per hit. You're getting lucky.
Ye
damn, ok cause its been two that i got the entirety
point being that the gap between the two is smaller in hard
@languid echo i would be willing to donate a couple 2 star ask eggs for your fader testing
if you are still doing that
man i forgot how crazy the early game wood grind is. i miss my wood farm ):
I'm doing the same
everytime i farm like 3-400 wood and go " that should last a little bit"
it wont 🙂
It never does 😄
woodcutting is my highest skill xdd
even worse with stone
got two iron chests full, start building, and mid build i have to go farm stone xd
lmao! i did the same with black marble. i think i used over 6 blackmetal chests full on a build. LOTS of hunting for the giants
anyone who builds massive bases with black marble, and actually goes out and farms it, huge respect. that is a real grind
imo it looks ugly so im spared that f ate
Additive per hit?
No, 1% for every hit
I just found out that bosses actually despawn.
They're not supposed to. What did you do?
am i going insane or did the game bug, i just had 2 seekers and 3 fulings spawn at my base in the black forest
Was it at night?
yeah
Killing bosses allows stronger enemies to spawn in earlier biomes, but only at night and they despawn at day.
but 3 fulings and 2 seeker?? at the same time???
i thought i was safe in black forest lmao
You are, if you sleep
I lost against moder so I brought her somewhere else in order to improve my arena and when I wanted to fight her again 20 in game days later she wasn't there anymore so I had to summon her again.
one does not command moder around 🙂
A wild rsm appears!
And then he choclates himself away 😱
👀
guys are there any popular public servers to join fresh?
There you might have better luck https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
There is no public servers running by developers, most servers are running by individual people.
thats a shame, if it was done like rust the game would be even more popular
thanks though
Devs have designed the game being either solo or coop experience with close friends. So be wary when looking for people to play with.
How?
Not everyone likes PvP survival craft games, and I'm sure most people who come here play precisely because it's not pvp-focused
Should be possible run with mac and windows, not 100% sure about mods tho, so better ask from https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 if people there have experience of that.
Is there any way to prevent items drop upon death ?
yes, in the world settings before you load up the world
I did that, put the death penalty to casual but my items still dropped upon death
It only keeps the equiped items, there is no way to keep all
Ah I see , better than nth I guess. Thanks
im assuming you made sure to tick the "start server" option and gave him the join code
what gives you the most coal from the obliterator
the most ive gotten to is like the very beginning of mistlands so idk what that is
The geysirs in swamps = flame pillars 😉
flame pillar in swamp spawns Surtlings. dig down to water around the pillar and Surtlings go poof . leaving coal behind
hey sorry im new--does killing the boss clear the mist in mistlands? 🙂 or is there a way too? ive got the firefly that follows you but just curious. if not its okay. the only information i see is from like..2 years ago lol
dont put your workbench and portal too close
No unfortunately, but you can use the wisp torches 🙂
||But if you REALLY want it gone forever in its entirety you will have to use devcommands||
Lots, and LOTS of wisp torches lol
Yep 😄 so many nice blue lights 😄
if you cover enough area, including higher places. the mist "can" leave the map, not just the ground in front of you. Not sure if time/effort/materials invested is worth it tho
Oh it almost certainly isnt 😄
LOL! but fun as a "once off"
Does dungeons reset? skeleton and rewards
Nope, only stuff like yellow mushrooms respawn 🙂
useful towards the lategame but kinda useless for now
can u plant and grow toadstool urself
not even skeleton?
Nope, but in some later dungeons even enemies may respawn 🙂
You were in the correct channel before... #mods-screenshots , #mods-discussion or #mods-issues
Skeletons spawn naturally in certain ways. For more information, consult the Valheim wiki.
is there a way to kinda dismantale armor? by mistake I crafted the wrong thing
No unfortunately
alright, thank you for the help
Thanks, I missed the mods-issues channel somehow. I'll forward my message there.
is there a way to remove the blurry/fog thing in the game or is it part of it?
cant see a thing because of it from far
Do you mean the white fog?
the casual one yes, I am still in Meadows-Black foresst
Then also no i am afraid, tho you can look up on what days the weather will be like that 🙂 Kirilloid made a webside for it http://valheim.kirilloid.ru/weather#1
is silver shield a better idea or there is better
For modded stuff #mods-discussion might be able to help 🙂
Compared to...?
no like same with iron there is 2 perry iron sheilds but the one that cost 10 is better
Silver shield is the only mountains-tier shield and is better than iron buckler and banded shield
tytyyy I was afraid there will be a silver buckler
You should be able to host from your device
Does anyone know what graphics technology causes things to fade into the scene, like when you change the text on a sign?
It should be as simple as selecting the start server option in the world menu, then you select a password and you are good to go
Do you have any other examples for this? Nothing is fading when I change the text on a sign.
Pretty much
Am I able to fit both a mead kettle and cauldron on the same campfire?
iron pit is what for
I dont think so, but you can just make 2 🙂
Looks like it's Antialiasing. It didn't happen on my 1080ti, but it does on my 4070 super, on many games. It's probably some new type that the card uses by default
It's pretty subtle, about 1/5 of a second for the image to even out and look normal. The first frame is jagged and distorted, then it clears up over the following frames. It's like some AI refinement or something, I absolutely hate it and would rather take an FPS hit
Here's an example, frame 1 and 6 compared: https://imgur.com/a/8WIhjRf
Answer: Valheim uses Temporal Anti-Aliasing - TAA is a rendering technique that uses information from past frames to smooth edges and reduce aliasing artifacts, particularly in motion, by accumulating samples over time
I turned off AA in Valheim, then forced FXAA 8x to override the application in the Nvidia control panel. It's no longer blurry and looking great.
You can, I have before. But it was realllly tight.
Alright thanks
Thank you
It's possible.
The distance you can glide with the feather cape if jumping off a really high mountain is bloody awesome
Yup I got it to work!
is making bronze armour worth it?
Cuz lowkey I'm regretting wasting 50 bronze after finding out how slow it is
troll is generally considered the superior option
due to putting less strain on your metall supply
ufffff
As someone who prefers to use heavy armour throughout the entire game, I have decided against crafting it the last few times. The troll suit offers almost as much armour while letting you keep your mobility - and the mats come at you on two legs.
same with the next biome too btw
the light armour is the better of the two, and this time by quite a bit
the dripp tho
turns out innate resistances are absolutely borked
sadly i've already crafted it and upgraded it to level 2
Indeed - as @wary oak says - the bronze armour looks hella good!
but then I found out about the movement penalty
ye looks like ur about to whoop some ass in the forest
heavy armor becomes BiS from silver and onwward
if you dont want to use spells that is...
If you already have it crafted, stick with it and upgrade it I'd say. With a good shield it does make you a wee bit more tanky than in with the blue suit. And I personally loathe the blue tint of the troll suit. If I could dye it I'd use it more...
ive got the bone shield, I uses 2 shields akshually
the rounded one for 1v2, the big bone for raids or multiple enemies fights
parrying is a key skill, you will want to learn it eventually
its a massive dps boost for bursting down single enemies
I play on high difficulty so bone shield is a MUST in the burial chamber and raids
Tower shields are good for tanking, but you can't parry with them. I prefer the round shield, good balance.
ah, that changes things
Aah, higher difficulties are beyond my knowledge. I see no reason to go there, they just narrow down your options with mathematics, it's not really more "difficult" - it just forces some strategies on you.
ye, i'm new tho, the difficulty makes the gameplay so much fun
tbh thats like the whole point for me, I gotta STRUGGLE otherwise the game is boring
the swamp will kill you, a lot
Burial chamber already did that 😭 there's ONE I couldn't finish, there's 2 skeleton archers + 1 two stars archer all behind one single door..
starred archers in the next biome can oneshot you xd
Normal difficulty will let you struggle bigtime if you don't go the cookie-cutter route, I have never ever found it too easy tbh. Valheim is perfectly balanced as is, the increased difficulties skews the balance imo.
Root harness has lasting appeal
because innate resistances are borked
wdymm cookie-cutter route
Min-maxing instead of using what you like or think is fun - researching numbers to optimise the very best gear combo for any situation.
there are certain setups which can trivialize certain situations
root armour for example is just hillariously anti swamp
and atgeir, even an unupgraded bronze one, can stunlock trolls from full to zero
Do you know what this game really need tho?
MORE MUSIC SOUNDS, cuz it's getting boring hearing the same thing in my meadows base for 50 hours
The reason I don't like higher difficulties is that they force you to do the min-maxing or you just die
This game really needs neck summons
Ayy elden valheim ring
you also really need to know your parry options
What health potions are available before the elder boss?
Minor hp
The minor should be unlocked by then, no?
Ok thx gonna check it out , I’m getting cooked left and right
raspberries, honey and one of those yellow flowers (forget the name)
Haven’t seem to encounter honey
Old, abandoned buildings in Meadows can have beehives - if you destroy one they should drop a queen bee which unlocks what you need
Alright will run around then , thanks
You'll hear the buzzing when you get near
Look for bees nest, usually you'll hear buzzing around em
building log cabins takes so much wood
anybody got a mix between corewood walls and normal wood walls that looks nice?
i was thinking 2 layers of corewood and then normal walls above that
I like 2 core logs, the wood cross section, and then 2 core logs
that looks sick
ty for the suggestion
i think ill do that for the bottom floor and then 2core logs followed by normal wood logs for the top floor
how many abominations can I find in the swamp? if its only 1 do they respawn?
still new to this game. does anyone know if trolls will raid my base in the meadows?
YES LOL
there's a way to cheese them but idk if you want me to expose the secret
im definitely open to the knowledge lol
The way you deal with raids in this game is 2, you either fight it out or make trenches around your base
However, IF you want to fight a troll, the best way is to grab a bow + fire arrows
ok awesome, just made my first set of fire arrows actually! then a 2 star troll mollywhopped me
Get close to them in a distance to initiate their attack animation > sprint to get out of their attack then hold your bow and shoot
awesome thanks so much for the tips i really appreciate it
no worries man
Make sure to upgrade your bow, unless you can get the bronze age one
just got bronze recently havent even seen a bow, does it unlock later?
its called finewood bow
it doesn't need bronze but it needs a bronze axe to farm that type of wood in the black forest
ahhh ok awesome ill look for it thanks!
Tip: if you find a shipwreck, you can get fine wood without a bronze axe, meaning you can craft finewood bow earlier that way
Since if you smash the shipwreck to pieces, it drops fine wood
I mean there's a bunch of different ways to get early fine wood but yea that's always a nice one to find
You need about 30 fine wood to craft and upgrade fine bow. core wood too, but you dont need bronze axe for pine trees which drop core wood.
I think shroud said it better than I could: https://www.twitch.tv/shroud/clip/CrackyLaconicNeanderthalRedCoat-8PTXJYmpzABIvDQS
it's been funny watching him play valheim again 😄 he's getting his ass kicked
yea, hope 1.0 addresses and touches up on multiplayer, it can def be improved upon
ask and if anyone does they'll help
I need help im confused af
Okay then ask bro 😭
you're asking fro help but nobody knows the question
Yea its about the stability my base keeps losing health someone told me i need stonecutter so i made it but idk how to build to make it more stable
I dont know how to build these pillars all the way up to the roof to make it more stable
And also do i need to break all the wood walls to put the stone walls there or can i put the stone walls at the wall without breaking the wood wall
Is the base of your building made of stone?
this would prob require someone to come to your world and check it out. it would be easier
stability in building is a lot of trial and error
alright text me in private
Parts lose health when they're not covered by a roof and it rains. They only get damaged to 50% so you can just let them stay that way if you want. They will be easier for enemies to break of course.
The support beams allow you to build further out/up, and should be put in a straight line. Put one in the ground, set your snap option to 'bottom' then aim at the top of it - the next one will go right on top. Do it a few times.
WHO IS A PROFESSIONAL COPPER MINER?
i've been digging for 3 hours trying to make this whole thing fall apart idk
honestly wouldn't even bother with collapsing copper
It's much more precise than silver
its for shit and giggles
How many times have you giggled in those three hours?
0
Going well then.
if there's anything I need atm
either a 2 star troll or a giant exacavator to help with this
after 3 hours of digging, I can finally say it wasn't worth it fellas
No master I still have to drag the cart over 300 miles cuz I left 633 stone behind
was a fun experiment but I'm definitely not doing thiss again lmao
I kinda like mining copper because the nodes are so big.
Odin please drop a performance enhancement with the for north please please please 🙏
Just entered the mountains for the first time in my latest playthrough, I was pretty under prepared. My haldir portal is literally 2 minutes from a mountain biome. Anyway, in those 2 minutes I managed to attract the attention of a troll, a grey dwarf brute, both a 1 and 2 star grey dwarf and a bunch of regular grey dwarves. I entered the mountains with an army. 2 wolves and a drake later and I was alone
My friend tried it 4 times during our world so far, and it worked the 4th time
I've run the game just fine on a veritable potato machine, if you're having performance problems maybe they can be fixed by tweaking settings your side? Oh yeah, one typical performance hog not everyone are aware of is tree stumps and loose items lying around, that can impact performance if you let such things accumulate too much.
Always clear the stumps - they give some wood too so leaving them is not just ugly, it is a waste of resources 😄
it is absolutely hundred percent mine and my friends giant bases but with the graphics valheim has its crazy that we still dont even reach 40 fps
Ah right, gotcha. I still haven't managed to build big enough to impact performance, but I'm working on it...
Good luck its a grind and make sure you and maybe your friend have your bases a little bit away from eachother
especially your farms
Valheim
Valheiiiim
Valheimür!
that moment when you get to the swamp, get killed by a 2 star Draugr, corpse run back, get your stuff, kill draugr, run to crypt to realise you forgot pickaxes
Especially when you already had poison resistant ticking. Feel that.
I had just used the potion
I don't like the swamps
is the fishing pole actually worth it?
It's the only tool for fishing, so for that purpose it is worth it.
ok, is fishing worth it then? I know you can get trollfish for strength potions, but is there any superior fish food?
Currently one specific fish food in 6th biome (||Mistlands||) which has the highest stamina of the 6th biome foods. But also some other fish are required for some mead recipes (||Perch|| and ||Grouper||).
Cooked fish is required also for few food recipes, like ||Seafarers feast|| and ||Fish wraps||.
I'll try fishing, thanks!
You need different baits for specific fish. You can craft other baits on Preparation table once you have bought regular fishing bait from Haldor.
The different baits require certain trophies.
I might just be schizophrenic but I've had a piece of tin respawn for like 4 times already, I thought ores didn't respawn or did they change this ?
sounds like a typical valheim moment
just like running halfway to a mining site or a crypt. and you forget halfway to get rested buff
yeah, that too
I was also planning on doing 1 more crypt and found the absolute mother of all crypts, there's gottta be like 3-4 stacks of iron in it
schizophrenia
it shouldn't respawn 🤔
You are
only flint
Ight guys ig I'll get it checked out 😀
could be someone running a client side mod tho
never rule that out 😄
or server mod where resources respawns
do the developers plan on patching out glitches like the finewood chair glitch to bypass the swamp key?
or is it like a hollowknight thing where they'll intentionally keep unintentional progression skips
no
there are so many of those around that would be a pain to fix
if the players would be pushed back from the wall, they could instead get stuck inside furniture
and then the sollution would be that not allow players to build to close to certain objects
which would also produce issues itself
and what problem does it make in a single player game with co-op ?
nothing exept you cheat yourself
16 scrap iron in a chest, pretty sure that's the most I've ever seen
As someone whose in swamp on my current playthrough, it feels so nice hitting 10+ in chests.
y'all iron addictive
I thought that was a requirement.
How much iron is enough including using it for heavy builds?
never
Generally you'll be back tracking for iron a ton. I would say, best to keep track of it and write it down for future reference. Depending on how much you like to build it can definitely vary.
fastest way to acquire 2000 stones?
Stone pillars in Plains probably, depending on what is your current progression.
that is a great idea thanks
Take portal mats with you so you can always store the collected stones at your base.
lol my computer froze for an entire second
around 400 stones in 2 minutes of picking
Yeah, it does that for a moment when you break the whole stone.
It's funny, tbh.
Is it worth converting an Ashland’s fortress into a base? Ive done all the ground work and put some black marble flooring down. Might break the front gate and put flametal doors in.
It's nice for sure. Having an outpost and safe place is good.
What is Valheim for U guys?
A Viking game
Viking game with friends
Any servers for newbies? Or anyone fairly new looking to start a new world together?
Have you enabled them by writing -console in small text box in properties on Steam? If yes, then did you write devcommands to enable commands ingame?
You might find someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
yes i have done both
Thank you 🙏
Pressing F5 doesn't open the command log?
no
Have you switched buttons accidentally?
no how do i do that
Mental agony and despair
An addiction
Hola
Try closing the game, retype -console again and reopen the game.
idk if im blind, does krom use just normal sword skill? no two handed version?
Yes, it is a sword 🙂
Correct, swords skill. Same as all axes use axes skill.
daaamn then it will be pretty good, been using swords the whole playthrough
why everyone got a flower on thier names wth
Last spring certain space cat decided we will become a spring cult 🙂
I should've made a winter cult
You cant change peoples names tho 😄
☀️ Summer cult ☀️
well u got both emojis so y'all like a merged cult or smth
Oh no, the fire is from when ashlands came out 😄
And possible broom from last October when Bog Witch patch was added.
What? There is such a glitch? Interesting
yes
place a chair next to a wall or something you want to glitch into
sit down on it
stand up. your ghost walking through objects
congratulations, you just cheated in a singleplayer game
😄
It works with sitting logs too, but i dont really think it needs fixing. New players will most likely not stumble upon it on their own and if they want to use exploits then why the hell not 🙂
Naah I wont do that, but good to know anyway 🙂
Praise the sun!
you can do the same into trees 😄
or walls
