#valheim-chat
1 messages ยท Page 284 of 1
well i like rust
game isnt fps fyi
ik
even ranged weapons you gotta use more to be more accurate
game def worth its price nonetheless
I mean.. anything is possible ๐ค
just like SamOne said. --> #suggestions and don't forget the ๐ก
well. the big diffrence is that valheim is co-op with friends. not PvP.
just checked, i did put it there
hopefully before we get deep north this change happens ngl, elder power is so laughably bad compared to all the others
well.. they aren't suppose to be super powers either
yeah, but it's more of "how useful is this power to me" and it's always the last
well. I've seen 2 people with elder power with 2 handed axes basicly demolish a entire biome within the 5 minute limit ๐
and then they didn't need to cut wood for almost the entire playthrough ๐
true, but you get it in ashlands
pretty much endgame
at this point you should have tons of wood already
Hmm should I start another playthrough, number 12 to be exact. 1200 hours in, need more, maybe this time just swords and bow only hm
nope
and mining is.. like... something you would do all through the game basicly ๐ค
sounds like time for no-shirt run if you're at 1200 hours
fighting is also something you do all through the game basically
so is exploring
and who knew, we gets 2 very powerful powers for these occassions from boss 1 and 3
eikthyr power is greatly balanced IMHO
bonemass however is madly overpowered ๐
turning elder power into pure resource gathering would make it useful all throughout the game though
would make it on par with the powers being temporary but always useful for a certain occassion
I think I would rather have the mining power at moder ๐ค
tho thematicly, a flying dragon and wind makes so much more sence ๐
well. the thing is
you have it, but from queen
you wouldn't apritiate the miningpower if you never struggleled ๐
so is hauling stuff around the world, it's still a struggle
Right, you guys reminded me that powers exist in the game, I keep forgetting them.
plus a power lasts 5 minutes and you cant use it for next 15
I have my own ideas on re-balance boss powers
but I think everyone in the dev team and also almost every player got ideas on them ๐
yeah, elder power needs changes asap though
I think thematically they work as they are. I'd probably remove blunt resistance from BoneyM both from thematic and to give it some kind of weakness.
second in line is yagluth if deep north doesn't have enemies that constantly use magic
Ye Yagluth power is literally useless atm
But in the grand scheme of things, I just forget they are a thing, and usually forget to use them or even to swap them around at all.
all power useless except the decnet one bonemass
โ
nothing needs to change asap ๐
fair
devs really neeeds to adress this mannnn
should have said "first in line" rather than asap
Eikthyr is the best power overall, in terms of usage, I think I used Bonemass like twice last playthrough
no
there are alot worse offenders needed to be addressed
bonemass is way to strong later biomes
bonemass + blood shield = OP
you can basicly cake-walk
yah iekther is inda good
I used Yagluth power while fighting fader, it was very useful
all other kinda straight grabge lol
If Bonemass increased armor by a set amount it could still help a lot early on without being too strong later
Just use barley wine vs Fader @tribal trench ๐
true
well we had that, but it was a 4 man fight we had lots of powers stacked
fight with thunder axes naked
Yagluth wonโt do anything against fader if you already have barley wine
bonemass out the gate because he dropped meteors right out the get
Honestly the games doesn't need tailor made for the individual, rather the individual need to adjust to the situation i think ๐ค
if you want non vanilla there is options
nope im not using blood shield waste food slot instead stamina
the mobs cant literally hit u if u just walk forward
too ez
My only real complaint about the forsaken powers is honestly that I'm always pissed I can't get the Moder power earlier. I know it's perfectly thematic where you can get it. But by the time I find her, I've usually finished most of my sailing.
Berserker mead plus Bonemass plus Thundering Berserker axes = insane dmg burst
Basically you can have a cake and eat it too with that combo.
thats why i install wind always at ur back mod
And for fader you donโt even need bonemass, just a root harnesk
nah berkser mead is bad only like 10 sec right?
is mage build gonna be ok in ashlands early on?
20s. And bad? Whoah.
hmm idk i dont use it the attkc window u can free hit on fader is low
You can't go wrong with magic, too powerful
If you have a root harnesk you can tank his melee attacks for a while, theyโre all 100% pierce damage
Weaknesses are nullified by any resistance source, so Root harnesk combined with that is very good against Fader.
my ice staff is itching to send cold breezes
true combine bonemass is cheezy
all food stamina then spam tasty mead with lingering health and stamina i watched it on yt lol
this tower shileds man really need buff
towershields and spear are a vibe
True. I've been using Flametal Towershield lately with Klossen and it's pretty good for hordes of enemies
yeah in normal mode i guess
Call it Odin wall build
I want Valheim 1.0 NOW ๐ค
let the devs cook
Anyone else smell misthare supreme
I prefer seeker aspic @regal spoke
๐ค
Is lingering health better than major healing pot
depends?
I prefer major for sudden situations.
nah
Need more sap
asap ๐ซก
do they stack?
Lingering meads donโt stack with minor/medium/major meads of the same type
Worth saying if they don't know but lingering stam and tasty stack
lingering for sustain
Yeah Tasty doesn't count as it doesn't give you stamina directly, just increases the stamina regen and decrease hp regen for its duration.
Which is why it's one of the GOAT meads.
ofc, but I must express my hype
Does anyone know if the Berserkir axes are effective? I want to try a dual wield to fit my character cinderhoff but I donโt waste any flametal on a weapon that I might not be useful. Currently I have been playing with jotun bane and a carapace buckler since me and my gang just arrived in ashlands. (A year late)
They are 1000% satisfying to play with
They are.
Alright, thatโs good to hear. Do you think itโs worth sacrificing the block armor?
Very much so, certainly if you make some lightning ones and the vine ones are good as well.
It requires a different playstyle though, more rolling, more guerilla tactics, move in ,strike, move away.
aaaaaaaand they chop trees
You can parry most non starred mobs with them.
Good to know
Two times as fast?
They have the most chop power.
Real gamers use battle axes to chop trees
I thought it was Trolls
trolls are good too
Ah I see carry on
Ehm... Few Elders...
@keen trench #screenshots message nice shot. Happy Thor'sday indeed.
More jumping!!
sometimes i remember conan exiles when i play this
Then you remember why you're playing Valheim as the best survival game to exist?
Someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 might wanna.
okay tysm
anyone wanna play valheim survival fresh with me?
I do wanna play valheim again, but is there any change to the copper deposit?
copper is the same as its always been
shame, do you or anyone know if it is gonna change?
why would it change ?
it is horrible to get
How?
copper is super easy , not sure what you mean
last time i played we got more stone than copper from one deposit...
Youโre supposed to
Yeah, copper is just right there... There are many far harder ores in the game.
I always recommend Vanilla settings because I think it's the best version of the game, however if the amount of resource drops is a major pain for you, there are now in game settings where you can increase the drop rates.
pick a good ore deposit place a workbench for repair jam some music then collapse the whole deposit
roughly 1 copper node should give out 120 copper ore - if you mine the whole deposit
i used to like mining out all around one , and under as much as possible
then try and get it to all break at once , as much as possible
Copper Rain
i used to do that, and it takes several in-game days
Definitely takes some work. But that's an exaggeration. Like SamOne said. Place a workbench. Plus a couple chests. Even some campfires to keep the dwarves off of you. A whole node can be deleted in a day.
god damn iron beams are OP
my 3 story house has blue stability 1 tile almost to the top of the roof
Iron beams give connected objects blue stability
i might start turning 2x on just for iron farming tbh, the ammount of iron i need is just tedious
all the other resouces are not that bad to farm, but iron just so useful
1.5x is enough to increase most drops by double
theres a mod that you can use to increase stack size too, i have the one that doubles all stacks, most things stack to 100 and ores to 60, saves hella time by reducing boat trips
hmm interesting, ill prob do that then
anyone know what yagluth says when he crawls up from the ground?
viking
Oke
Whatโs the best way to kill Geirrhafa? I just entered the silver age
Does leveling up skills use less stamina? Like pickaxe and weapon leveling?
Lure him away to a spot you can just shoot him.
Parry his melee attacks and dodge his magic attacks. He takes spirit damage so silver weapons do well against him.
Or snipe him afar with lots of arrows.
Is it likely we get Deep north within the next few months? Been thinking of playing again, but Id wait if the next biome is around the corner ๐
I would say that it is unlikely ๐ค
VERY unlikely ๐
any ETA?
Thanks ๐
No, but we usually get some development news at the end of month about the process.

Oh shoot, already coming up towards the end of March! Time flies
Deep North ||im really curious as to what purpose(s) the seals will serve ๐ค ||
||Seals can't fly?|| ๐ฆ
Has there been any confirmation that 1.0 will release with steam achievements? IIRC there's no achievements atm
Yep, 1.0 will bring achievements ๐
I hope they arenโt too defenseless
๐ฝ๏ธ ๐ฆญ
Low key the most dangerous ones lol.
Even lord Reto knows to fear the strength of a seal
Plot twist: Last boss is just a 2star seal, thats how strong they are ๐
Seal! Use ice beam!
My mind went straight to Wonder Twins. "Form of an ice _"
tbh lore says that by killing the forsaken we bring valheim to balance, but killing bosses means creatures that normally dont spawn in a given biome start spawning at night
doesnt that mean we bring the world into imbalance?
I personally think that new enemies spawning at night are just because they started to notice us since we killed their leader. ๐
For what we know they may die out eventually as we exit Valheim after we are done there. Also its more about the forsaken themselves, not their subjects.
Another tameable for fur and seal meat ig
Weโve been sent to kill the forsaken because they arenโt dead yet. Odin doesnโt seem to care much about the world of valheim.
What if Odin was Loki all along
wasn't valheim part of yggdrasil odin torn away and when the forsaken try to fix that, odin gets salty?
No.
Odin doesnโt want the forsaken to have access to Yggdrasil, which is why he sent them to Valheim and separated Valheim from Yggdrasil.
Forsaken=enemies of Odin. Valheim=prison for the Forsaken. Odin doesent want his enemies to do more bad stuff in the other worlds hence why them trying to reconnect Yggdrasil is a big no no
He sent me to the world of necks that is the kindest thing anyone could do
The entire plot of the game can be covered in a single paragraph yet people seem to regularly completely miss the mark.
I am more annoyed about the constant "Your boss wants you to do stuff for what he says is good but he is actually evil." trope people think is cool. It has been overused nearly everywhere...
Couldnโt agree more, not every story has to be a big twist where the big good guy is actually the big bad guy
For once let the presumed good guy be actually the good guy for gods sake
And let the bad guys be bad guys ๐
In vikings' perspective they are the good guys at least.
That is more than good enough ๐
Agreed.
It's like a reflection on life
Think this game will ever have public servers like other survival games?
Nope
Just miss being able to casually drop into a game etc.
That is not the type of game vlaheim is ๐ it is suposed to be a singleplayer or co-op with few other friends
Does anyone have a good picture of the bonemaw serpent ? I've been trying to get one myself and haven't been successful it's for a tattoo idea like a full head and body idk how to explain it
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Bonemaw - has some.
Turn on debugmode, devcommands, and god mode, then bind "timescale 0" to a key of your choice, whenever something interesting happens, hit that key to freeze the scene, giving you all the time you need to disable the HUD and perfectly frame your picture
Allows you to get some crazy cool screenshots
You just gave me an idea for your next challenge. No HUD.
No
Doesnโt no hud mean no inventory?
Scales speedrun when ๐ญ
Dont like the idea of speedrunning valheim
I think u can still open menus
I know it hides the pause menu
I know nothing
I am really excited to hopefully wrap up the no food thing and move on to no armor, think no armor is gonna be a lot of fun
๐ค
The engineer take: efficient running?
Kinda what the no food thing has become, mapped up a spreedsheet of all the things I need and the numbers behind each metal etc
Dang it's getting serious. I respect it. You back up to Fader again on no food run?
No kidna mentally broke (
) so i'm doin some v rising stuff and gonna come back fresh
Does anyone know if parrying with a shield while having a bubble of protection on will the bubble take full damage or does the parry bonus of the shield negate the dmg taken to the bubble?
Fair. I can imagine it's exhausting
Bubble takes all the damage @pseudo shale
thought so, seemed like my bubble kept breaking too soon
word, plus side of it is that you can literally parry anything in the game with bubble
yeah stops being staggered i notice, its rly good it seems, tried out a battle mage build with staff of wild and protection, seems strong
Bubble is indeed strong defensive mechanic.
Especially with higher blood magic skill lvl.
Isn't blood magic 0 like 200 shield and block magic 100 like 700?
crazy
In this game every mage is battle magee
also another question does refreshing the bubble overwrite the current bubble of whats left or does it only refresh the duration and then not refresh the amount absorbed
Only refreshes duration
thought so aswell lol
Before reaching mistlands you fight with some kind of weapon, while during mistlands you just add bubble shield so from now you are a battle mage
ty
well i was playing with full eitr regen gear but now i swapped to full flametal with a 1h sword n shield with the staffs i mentioned, feel immortal now
Because bubble literally makes you immortal, you can survive and parry infinite dmg strike
If I run protection and primal staff with eikthyr power in a group. I feel I'd be more of a support mage. Defense buff, stamina buff, and crowd control (more of a distraction honestly).
The Acolyte really tried to have morally ambiguity with the Sith, of all people....
whats your fav spot in mistlands to set up camp?
personally either empty patch or the area before the queen if available
I enjoy building on the water on the outskirts like an oilrig
I found a nice ravine-ish thatโs clear of most and surrounded by some hills. Huge flat area, two Yggdrasil roots for sap, itโs pretty cozy.
Hello, I'm fairy new to Val, hoping to find someone to guide me in game, happy to join your server or mine. on PC
Interesting linked steam name
#1024264966712340510 check here, lots of folks looking for players
In all seriousness, #1024264966712340510 is the channel for finding servers or advertising your own, you'll likely have better luck there
I'm with Omni. Really enjoy the Myst islands. The spot you described sounds sweet too. How'd you fair for soil to plant in?
Misty lands best biome
No contest from me. I enjoy exploring for those fog free gems. To build of course
ahhh yes cheers !
A naturally flat area with minimum mist so I can farm shrooms
Scales your building skills rival your combat skills. Wonder if you'd have a go at a Mist build vid.
๐ค don't really have any ideas for a mist build
Fair enough. Creativity may come in clutch eventually. ๐
Oh really? Why do feel this way? ๐ค
Pretty solid, good soil spots too! Iโll turn into a proper base soon, now that I have stone portals.
Some of the best designed mobs, exploration is cool, progression is fun (all be it a repeat of black forest) ,looks amazing and the boss is great
Least favorite? ๐
Ashlands ๐ฌ
Id be stoked to see what you come up with.
In your Myst travels. Have you ever come across little pools nestled in spires? Like finding a lake in the mountains.
How dare you point that out. I almost spat out my food from laughing.
I wouldnโt say anything lake sized, but that sounds neat!
Then tell the food it needs to do a better job at staying in your mouth. I refuse to take blame for this situation.
Not in size. Just expressive. Probably the size of a tetra pond I guess
I was digging in screenshots where I think I posted a shot of one I planted crops around. The shot was taken from a spire looking down.
@light moat search filter ftw #screenshots message
That makes me want to make a path outlined in magecap
Does anyone know a valheim server that doesn't lag with 5-6 people? Been using valhost the past month and it's been pretty awful
Best looking shield in the game ? Which one is it
Please post if you do
Just a reminder we don't allow the discussion/advertisment of specific server hosting companies/websites. Best to discuss specifics in a dm
Pretty much any server that's geographically near the players with good connection between each player.
We're all near each other and valhost has been absolutely awful
so really looking for a specific recommendation
The whole stance taken towards this topic is very off-putting. Doesn't exactly cultivate community building. Been here for years and you leave me on timeout. It's your house. Thanks
The timeout is automatically given when certain words/phrases are mentioned
In what way does that prevent community building?
Hello!!
took my time to farm mats to upgrade my gear to tier 3 now i am ready to set sail to ashlands
good luck
Worst biome? (subjectively)
swamp
Why is that
Always wet ๐
Swamp is second best biome fite me ๐
I find it a fast pass. Just feels like you cheese through the biome once you get iron
I don't hate it for that
Fire
meet me in valhalla
Done, Iโll bring gear from the biome I like better than swamp!
And you also have to bring gear from your fav biome
so can i kill serpent and such with staffs or am gonna burn up my boat?
i know there is gonna be bonemaw never faced sea creatures with staffs
Frost staff is effective against sea monsters.
time for voyage
They are usually either weak against frost or in wet status (which makes them weak against frost and lightning).
Turn radius on this ship is ....
It's slower to turn but slowing speed down while turning helps with maneuvering.
Ok ashlands cant be real so much chaos compared to other biomes
Hell on earth
reached shore killed few bone boys and bird went back home build a storage hut with tp then setup shield gen
and game decides to send like 6 archers and stone pelters constantly stunning me
bone boys now look stronger when archers boys backing them
luckily Log rolled over giving me break
Hell
Ashlands is a friendly biome
I can't wait to reach Ashlands once ai kill the queen. I heard the food is nice
so going back to try the melee build mage aint cutting it for me this eitr regen is not enough
i mean i am fully decked as possible still not enough
Interesting no wonder this is late game
Morgen Gjall.
Yes, mobs attack the closest thing that they can attack.
what is staff of fracturing?
It creates a single projectile that creates 12 more projectiles. When upgraded it deals incredibly high fire damage. The damage numbers shown on the weapon are copied onto each smaller projectile, so you do up to 12x damage per hit.
Is that staff that summons a lava troll at all worth it
Oh yes
Can they spawn with some sort of weapon too? Like an ashlands log?
Yep, they spawn either empty handed or with a log, like the normal BF trolls ๐
Ashlands
My whole entire seed just got destroyed by a bone mass I can't even do anything with it now
How did Bonemass curse your seed alone?
My portal got destroyed ๐ญ
You can just sail again and rebuild it in safer location
Acid rain lol
Which does nothing...
Somebody in my seed used it and we all died
Used what?
Poison potion without any of us using are
resistance poison potion
why does cooked vulture look yum
Food should look yum
why egg expensive T_T
Refuse buying egg, embrace taking egg from sealed towers.
cook with egg seems expensive each one is 1500
Not until you have a chicken coop
Thats why you can hatch them ๐
If you're doing Ashland solo melee or battle mage build is best
Pure mage is too high risk
made glowstick sword which seems to stun and slow them
gonna be using protection from staff with eitr potions and mage pants for enough mana
some one wanna play whit me now i am bored
You will most likely find someone in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
U guys think we'll need to start a new world for 1.0?
We didnt with any of the previous updates, so i dont think so. ๐ Tho 1.0 might be different, we will have to wait and see.
Starting a new playthrough will likely be the best way to experience content being added to previous biomes
True that.
Have they said anything about 1.0 adding stuff to the earlier biomes? I kinda assume it's just gonna be deep north n the game is done
In The Spill, they mentioned wanting to add some content to earlier biomes, but this isnโt a guarantee it seems. I donโt want to make assumptions, but I feel like thereโs a possibility weโll see some new stuff sprinkled here and there.
Yeah itโs a pretty great trophy! A fan favorite for sure
I hope they do a pass on the ocean n add content to it
once upon a time, they said there would be an ocean update. that never happened but maybe one day
https://valheim.com/news/development-blog:-lighting-the-way
weโre hoping to make it a proper 1.0 package with new things to discover in early biomes as well.
oh cool!
It's the moment of the vacation
When you see an old building and you go "I wonder if I can build this in Valheim"
does game give you in game hints about resources in ashlands?
I can't think of any instances where they hint at what is to come, other than The Queen boss drop.
I'm not sure any biome gives a hint about what is to come.
There is for Mistlands, where Hugin and Mugin will guide you on getting the materials
How many people would you wager actually find groups to play with? We see countless people come in looking to play. We then usher them to the appropriate channel. There's no room for organic friend/group finding here. I've argued it's also counter intuitive the way it's handled. People should be shown the lfg channel and or given a role choice the moment they drop in. I'll bet more than a few people that get pushed to the lfg section give up and walk away. This is how it can prevent community from growing. Breaking organic flow and adding complexity to matchmaking. Again not my house. Just my thoughts.
o7
like each boss give you key items like antler pick for mining/crypt key for iron/wishbone for silver something like that
Queens drop lets you ||actually get to|| ashlands ๐
Moder is quite direct in giving you access to two stations needed for food and gear
so there is no in game clue on how to mine next tier metal?
You will know it when you see it
No, like there isnt in plains or mistlands... And it isnt really necessary
If you entered ashlands in the far east or west you might be on an island without all the features of the area
Explore and discover
Our group entered on a far-eastern island, and it didnโt have some of the most important locations or enemies
i am just asking if there are in game hints if someone reached ashlands they would have curiosity to explore
The raven will appear to you when you find new things to ensure you wonโt miss them
i docked at large land mass since you know high chance of basic resources maybe
and totally not cause it was the closest path
The important places are hard to miss, you should see them and the important enemies from a distance
i think i am missing some balanced meal recipes
No you dont ๐
Me be eating Misty Lobster meat
need to buy stuff from broom lady
(I'm not being weird, it's seeker meat)
i mean it could be the game insinuating but large insect meat might be like shrimp
Maybe
But boy, the Mistlands really provided lots of good food sources
I just need a better food farm
Erm well ackshually ๐ค ๐ ... (
)
same
Lets just add "in the intended way" after that ๐
wait so each feast it worth 10 units?
Yep ๐
why dont i make feasts only and pop em on table they seem cheap except for spices but they are sold in X5s
so i been missing on a lotta foods
You absolutely can if you want balanced playstyle ๐ tho some food combinations may get you better total stats
Feasts have a feature where they canโt be moved once placed- once theyโve been used that is.
Some higher tier feasts (starting from Mistlands feast) grant you also some eitr too.
yes this mushroom galore is amazing
I think feasts are more for playing with friends
Not really, they are just great food option, co-op or not ๐
i wonder if i can use vulture egg as egg
You mean to hatch?
I wonder if I can use Modor's Egg as egg
wait ...
egg is egg but nope
Yes but actually not
I wonder how many feasts I can cook with a 200 kg egg
200 kilogrammes of protein right there
maybe superfood omelette
been hitting this black rock for a while shows dmg but wont crack
Eggactly none ๐
How do gjall deal with boss summons' materials on late game tho?
Donate it to Thor? Or kill them for funzies?
Leave them in chest in case i want to kill them again ๐
Alright
Hmm
I am thinking about making animal farms, but dislike raids will come and kill them.
What would be the best way to stop raids?
World modifiers ๐
Other than.. that
Spam campfires everywhere
I seen like clever raid requirements placement, and base defense designs
found askvin looks cute also dmgs enemies
If you just place campfires in large enough area no enemies will spawn around, at all, including raids
Hmm
Or I just really need to deal with Modor first.. cause only drakes can reach that high
I skipped her in my single player world
you skipped moder?
wait you can skip bosses?
using lava jelly to farm mats and enemies XD
i never needed anything more than shield
Yes
Moder is pretty unskippable since her tears are used for equipment progression. Some of the others can be skipped through tricks or inconvenience, but I've never bothered since...it's fun to bonk them.
Well you technically can skip any boss, but Moder is a bit of a special case because if you skip her you will lock a LOT of stuff later in game for yourself
Your animals are safe so lomg as you build strong stone houses aroumd them or keep your stables far from you base
Yeah canโt really skip moder and get to ashlands
Well you can... But not in the intended way and it is much harder ๐
enemies encountered
Asksvin,vulture,supervulture,lava jelly,skelly boys,morgen,npcs
What types of skelly boys? ๐
greatsword swingers,archer nemeis,grunt stone pelters
they really do gang up if given chance
So there is 1 more type of enemy you havent seen yet ๐
Supervulture = ||Fallen valkyrie||?
Yep, thats the one
now i got 3 sets options flametal,embla,asksvin
still need to mine flametal tho couldnt find deposits
unlocked catapult stuff and smoke, basult bombs
tmi my bad
deposit sinking
Congrats on your Ashland trip so far
found a castle got ass kicked
other flametal pillars are in lava cant seem to build towards them T_T
You can use basalt bombs to create temporary platforms
Sometimes they can be found near the edge too.
Lightfoot mead and feather cape will let you jump further so you can use the bombs more efficiently, so donโt forget those
if i make into castle and clear can/shall i takeover?
Clear it inside and you might do anything you want with it.
Gods below, I'm having bad luck with the Sealbreaker fragments this time. Ransacked over 10 mines by now, got everything Eitr related maxed out - but only 7 fragments. But not found any sign of a vaegvisir either so doesn't really matter. Just need to keep exploring...
Least you're getting cores i take it? I got like 16 fragments and only 6 cores so far...
Oh Valheim RNG, how wildly differently it can swing!
Yeah I have both my main base and the secondary with both the black forge and eitr table upgraded (as far as can be pre-Ash)
And cores to spare
But the damn fragments are more rare than rocking horse poo
Depends where ya go i guess or just the rng seed. Mines have been full of fragments for me but so few cores. I only got a forge and I'm considering breaking it to start a refinery
yeah I started that way, first 5-6 mines only gave exactly five cores, so I made a refinery, refined all the stuff, tore it down and made a forge, crafted everything, tore it down and made a table, and then back... gah. Then the next few mines I found had cores everywhere
Two-star ticks, nightmare fuel. How I hate them
I needed to make the forge for the arbalest so I could deal with gjalls. I never used a bow this playthrough til I got this
I've never used the arbalest. I understand it hits hard a f but is slow?
Got my bow skill at 100 so I don't think I'll bother hehe
not just that but loading the bolts will reset when you run or jump
Slow to load but it fires like a gun for huge damage. Especially if you get the sneak attack on their soft underbelly
Lies, bow skill is 82. I died a few times. Swords is back up at 100 tho
I never used it until recently but I really enjoyed it. You can snipe heavy health enemies from a great distance and it has a knockback feature.
Haha I have 100 Run on this guy again
Perma Eik ftw ๐
Another mine found and cleared - 7 cores, 0 fragments...
when im walking around in the swamp, theres no mobs aside from leech.
BUT the moment i fight an abomination, suddenly theres 3 skeletons and 2 blobs. WTF
That's how they roll. Opportunists! "Oh, now he's busy fighting old Willow, get 'im!!!"
They just want to join the fun.
They hear those battles from so far away and just come running. Especially the blobs and skellies, Draugr are deaf and blind.
gotta say, i really like abomination
Yeah awesome mob
too bad i almost cant parry him because of hard dificulty being shit
idk why a difficulty mode made a core mechanic of the game almost useless
Because it was an afterthought and has not been balanced properly, it was just added because some folks were howling for hard modes
also abyssal razor is goated, got it in bronze age and im in mountain stage and its still carrying
I love handling the Abomination with battleaxe. Even in hard difficulty I was able to get it constantly staggered when keeping hitting it.
Use other strategies then
Mathematically and programmatically doing anything else would be Very Hard(tm), at least right now. They might be able to adjust it with some specific work in the future, but it's not a high priority.
What's the point of trying to play differently if you're just gonna try to use the exact same gameplay you've used so far?
i do and its just dodgerolling everything, dont start with the "just x", doesnt make the difficulty mode bad or mediocre at best
Good, that means you can now save on crafting and using certain shields because you know they're not worth it
still enjoying the game at hard but im just criticizing the difficulty mode
nah bucklers are still worth it, like is said theyre just "almost" useless, i can still easily parry fodders
i can parry 1 of abomination's attack and its the part where it slams it's "body"
I'd actually expect a higher difficulty to simply throw more and maybe tougher enemies at me, not simply erasing a core part of the regular experience. To me it doesn't matter, I'm old and slow so the regular difficulty is about as much as I can handle...
almost erasing but totally agree with you
i hope in the full release of this game, the higher difficulties get more balanced. If not, atleast make parrying the same as normal lol
My fave comparison would be good old Doom - not later remakes, but the actuall 90's game. Higher difficulties just meant more shit coming at you, meaning you'd actually have to manage ammo and use a bit of strategy. Your guns still were just as effective, the mobs were the same - there was just a HECK of a lot more of them, everywhere.
Haven't played it much - my experience with Doom is mainly from when the game was new...
alright before i say it, is the "ultra nightmare" an old thing or did it only come in eternal?
Doom Eternal I've played a bit on my Playstation, but me being an utter gamepad umptard means I die constantly at lower difficulties anyway
Doom first released with "Ultra Violence" as the highest difficulty. Then "Nightmare" was added later on
ill just say it, doom eternal has good "higher difficulties". Take the difficulty sliders only for example, it only increases the damage you take from enemies, no "higher hp", its basically much less obnoxious than higher difficulties in like terraria past expert mode because in that game, its higher hp and higher damage
and thats just the difficulty slider, doom E has more than that like mastery levels
Yeah some games think "higher difficulty" equals making every mob a damage sponge. It sucks.
im not gonna count ultra nightmare because it seems like a "character setting" rather than a difficulty slider, since it has the same enemy buffs as regular nightmare
most games do higher difficulties this way: 1. enemies deal higher damage, and 2. enemies have higher hp.
if a game only does 1 of those, its already good for me, which is how eternal handled the higher difficulty sliders since its just 1 out of the 2 enemy buffs.
valheim doesnt just do 2 out of 2, but also almost erases a core mechanic of the game, which is ๐
Yeah. Well I have long since become too damn old to mess with higher difficulties anyway. Mistlands at night is about the worst I can handle. I truly dread moving on to Ashlands haha
ashlands with parrying becoming almost useless is just damn
also i regret hunting for lord reto since the flame sword isnt worth it, atleast not rn.
that was like almost 2 hours trying to get all of the mysterious locations, and a few minutes trying to fight lord reto. He's not hard thankfully, just hella spongy
OH FECK
There is hoping it will get some special effect when 1.0 is here.
i also hope they fix the janky terrain with combat
The terrain isn't janky with combat??
we should at least be able to aim our slashes downwards and upwards
Just move
Two star soljer. Speaking of sponges ๐
Is there a setting to make the mob AI abit more intelligent? :> Sometimes mobs run to me then they just stand or dose off again after attacking me
i mean combat IS janky with terrain, most of the time if something is slightly below or above you, youre gonna have trouble hitting it unless you lure them to even ground. I dont understand why they wouldnt find a workaround for this before release
Some creatures intentionally try to run around between attacks, including greydwarves, boars and necks, and some enemies later.
We had an invasion and they got into our house. They just wandered aimlessly around in there without attacking
You don't have to be on even ground. Some attack hitboxes are higher and lower than others.
Did you have torches around? Greydwarves are scared of fire and won't attack if near it.
yea thats why i said most of the time, but sometimes we have to lure them to even ground especially when using spears
Spear primary is good for hitting enemies that are higher than you, and the secondary is a projectile so it's good for any angle, more than almost all melee attacks could be.
And remember that this applies to enemy attacks too, jumping is an incredibly effective way to dodge most attacks.
Problem with spear secondary is that if you still have baddies around you and can't reach to pick it up again, you are fooked
Having played so much spear, I'm just used to it at this point, always position yourself under the opponent. It's still one of my favourite weapons in mountains because of that, just position yourself on the slop under the wolf and gib the thing.
Spear is awesome in the stone age when the alternatives are wooden clubs and flint axe, and for hunting deer before you have a bow.
Still my favourite weapon in meadows/BF
Spears were my main weapon in my first singleplayer playthrough and I enjoyed using them a lot, but I do prefer other weapons so I don't use them often
I'm just sad that the spear primary doesn't have a combo, it's just the simpleton stabby-stabby, which is also incredibly bad at hitting low enemies, like necks or anything just slightly below you on a slope
I joke that the reason spear has a bad rep is because everyone makes their first flint spear, and instantly tries it out against a pack of necks in meadows, and get their arses kicked, blame the weapon and never touch it again :p
Try it out against the necks?
guys im a bit worried i have goblin raids on me rn i have a frostner and black metal sword and platted set aswell should i be fine
If you can kill moder to unlock fuling raids that will also mean you are well-equipped for those fuling raids.
k bet its just shamans and bersekers which are annoying
better start making a moat or erect wall maria for your base brother
Or just kill everything before they kill you

violence is always an answer
Zerkers are like trolls on speed, very much SMASH! and they do a lot of damage, but they are easy to avoid. Shamans are a lot more annoying, always prioritise those buggers
just found a crypt with a single room, with 3 blocked paths
It happens. Feels bad.
I love it
is there a way to turn off smoke from campfires when cooking or just in general?
No, campfires always create smoke when active
alright thanks
This is because the smoke is an actual mechanic - you can build your camp/hut/castle so that the smoke is not a problem.
yea kinda like some ventilation system, I wouldn't really know how to do that tbh
Just make sure there is somewhere for the smoke to goe - and meanwhile protect the fire from the weather
Bloody murder the starred seekers hit hard
I went from full health and confident to full panic in two mistimed parries
No longer 100 in swords and running, alas
yep
better give them backshots to deal more damage
also mistlands give me deep rock galactic vibes
Ooooh jackpot vaegvisir AND the last two fragments in the same mine. It was worth the death!
cant build a boat cause my base is still expanding just haas a main home a boar hut and a dock which is progressing rn
I've found a great spot for a mist base where a small patch of plains and black forest meets a mistlands dverger dock that goes right the the middle of this little island of mostly mistlands. Been mining down the rock spires and lighting everything up with wisp torches
Bloody murder Queen is right at the edge of the map
My best mistlands "base" ever was on my original world from when the game was first released. That seed no longer looks anywhere near like the original world does, so it is one of a kind. Anyway I found this tiny strip of Mistlands jammed between Plains and Mountain - so small that the only Mistlands mob that spawns is hares - but enough land to build a decent shroom farm. The 'squitos from the plains kept farming hares for me. It was beautiful!
Damn that's a great way to farm hares. This base seems to have a lot of hares around too, I just use em as target practice with my arbalest.
In my first world seed I got a mistlands base in the old render with all the webs n stuff around. Got a portal up in a tree with stairs leading down. No mist so it's perfectly clear but nothing else spawns there other than mobs
did you know you can summon a boat you can't construct normally? to spawn it you type
spawn trailership
and basically it summons a ship, although missing features, it looks like a boat with cargo which hints it's either for raiding dvergr boats or we'd have had a wandering trader of sorts
I think it was my first mistlands, had a mountain next to a plains. And plenty of hares spawned on that mountain and ran out into plains and got killed by lox/gobs/squitos. I didn't even realise how annoying hares are to hunt until my next game.... I had so much of them for free.
I've also had success with finding places they spawn often and just put up those wooden stakes that does damage, randomly around and let them run into them.
unsure if it's scrapped idea or just not added in officially yet
Yep, it has been in the files for a long time ๐ probably an idea devs didnt go through with
hope they add in a wandering trader you can meet randomly with the same rarity as leviathan, with selling you random limited items (always ones you use to craft something) basing on your progression
You can put that in #suggestions ๐
Hey
Yall think its a good idea to get frostner before bonemass?
I've never done it, an iron mace is good enough and very useful against stone golems too (which frostner isn't)
You've got a point there thats tru
Frostner melts Bonemass, but it's not needed as Iron mace is good.
Iron mace is plenty good enough. I wouldn't bother getting frostner first unless you just really enjoy the challenge\sequence break for its own sake to bypass.
damn i didnt know people actually built portal hubs. Ngl i just set up 2 portals in my main base, 1 is unnamed and serves as my getaway or fast travel portal, and the 2nd is named to whatever named portal i left in various places and i just have signs listing all of the named portals all over the world so i just type the certain names into the 2nd portal so i can go to various points of interests.
So I've been roaming the ashlands on my old world save (older than ashlands update) and after some 70 days of getting massacred and surviving I still couldn't get a 2-star asksvin, I hop on a friend's world and i encounter 2 the first night, wtf
RNG. Basically mobs have 1% chance to spawn with 2 stars (10% per star).
why arent there any mistlands runestones
One of the only reasons to ise signs is to list the names of portals
There are but theyโre incredibly rare. Iโve never found one in-game.
seriosuyly they exist?
The wiki has texts for them and the map generator website shows them too
There is.
My favorite of those runestones is the one where Ulf warns not taking hats off from dvergr since they have no humor.
I like the one that says to build a roof, then 4 walls to hold it up
Or the one where Ulf tried magic and set his beard on fire.
Thanks, at this point I don't even mind trading an egg with my luck shit feels impossible lol
is the Open world RPG valheim a thing still? I remember watching that last year and I couldnt wait but then I forgot about it
Who knows? Is it in #1024264966712340510 ? Or maybe as its modded #mods-discussion
I just came here to say I just fought Bonemass by myself and won and I'm so excited!! I was really really nervous!! So thanks to everyone who helped give advice to prep me for the fight!
Glad you managed to achieve that.
I'm also glad to see you haven't given up after having that problem with the raft a while ago. Seeing you managed to get to Bonemass after that is a good thing.
Oh! Yeah, you remember my raft debacle with that sea serpent ๐
Thank you, Thorin!! I was feeling pretty low at that point and thinking I wasn't going to be able to continue.. but here I am, headed to the mountains next! โค๏ธ
I literally couldn't have done it without about a dozen people giving me advice ๐
Yeah, I remember it. I was one of those who helped you through it at the time.
I thought you could do it, but you just needed someone to give yourself the confidence you lost because of that event.
Which I'm glad you defeated boneblob, as it showed I was right about that feeling.
I won't tell you what's ahead, because you know that already. But I can tell you this: You will get to Ashland and you will be able to defeat Fader. Because you've already defeated the worst enemy this game has: desperation (and that's not Stephen King's book I'm talking about ๐ )
Besides, crossing the Ocean in a Raft in a Storm is one of the most craziest things to do in this game. If you survive that, you will survive all. ๐
And yeah I definitely remember you, I just didn't think you'd remember me. ๐ I appreciate your help that night and moreso your kind words โค๏ธ I sure think my friend would be proud of me tonight, don't you? ๐
I'm certain he would.
Thank you @pliant hatch ๐๐๐
Hi there! New to the server. Been trying to get back into the game, and I thought it might be fun to play with someone on a new world. Is there anyone new to the game who'd like to team up with me? I've got about 400 hours in game, gotten up to the Mistlands so far.
Ping me if you'd be interested in playing!
You might want to post that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 as you got more success into finding someone over there, as you will have over here.
what kind of investor are you do you invest in armor first or weapon first or use previous tier gear till you have enough for a whole upgrade set?
I use previous tier gear a long time (I mean a very long time) because i suffer from indecision. Usually I go for the spear first if there is any and the buckler (or the like) if i overcome the indecisiveness ๐ But me running around in Mistland in Plains gear for a way to long time is no uncommon sight. Defeats me why I do not do that at once once I can because I will do it anyways.
Mostly i compare the stats of the items and then find that 2 more ist not that cool, I can just as well manage with what I have ๐
That depends, in earlier game I usually upgrade some armor and 1 new weapon first, in Ashlands I usually go for new weapons and Ashen cape first.
๐ซก
Axe or sword in the mountains?
The battleaxe can work well for hitting multiple wolves at once and staggering them in one hit, but normal axes are terrible weapons.
The one you like best. Although the iron mace is very useful over there too.
Bow, poison/pierce arrows, mace/sword and shield is my go for mountains
As there are Drakes, Wolves, Golem and Fu- Funling(?)
Fenrings*, ||they spawn at night||
I recommend go there with swamp tier gears
Alright, thanks, I have done mountains once before and thought the mace did ok, I've never used the sword in valheim
Sword is quite good all around weapon with similar primary attack animations as maces but different secondary with 3x damage multiplier. And unlike other 1h weapons its primary attacks have no multi target penalty.
Iron mace is the best 1h weapon against Stone golems in mountains as they resist pierce and slash but no blunt.
It's been a while since I've been following the news. But is there any prediction for the release of the next major update?
No timeline has been given no
No unfortunately
Ok. Thanks.
I wouldn't expect anything in 2025 tho
Like others said, no expected timeline, but if you follow https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202150165449035816 there usually appear new dev blog at the end of month with some news about the process.
Oh, and also new teaser of the voyage of Hervor Bloodtooth.
how fast can you unlock magic?
You get access to it in mistlands
how far is that into the game i just started last night
6th biome ๐
so iv got a while before i get there lol
Yep, but once you get to it its very nice ๐
right it looks good from what iv seen
For HHS yes
found some gems didnt unlock recipes or i missed?
Which ones did you get?
Damn, Im a bit sad that spear attacks are still these awkward overheads. They arent using the length of the spear at all
Even using 1 handed spears with shields, these "pickaxe" attacks arent THAT common
Ive never once, fighting viking style irl, seen anyone hold a spear backwards
jade lolite
Most likely because it would be too similar to atgeir, and not using the full lenght makes sense since you are using only one hand to actually control it, you need around half of the spear as a counterweight ๐
I can see how you'd think that Asatru, but thats not realistic
The third one will unlock some recipe, and other than that you need the flametal weapons to get more recipes with gems
When we fight using 1 handed spear and shield, we rarely use overhead attacks. Even if we do, its not while holding the spear backwards
I am not talking about the animation really ๐ , personally i am not the biggest fan but since i am not using spear really it doesent bother me
Take a look at this link
The spear attacks in Valheim are awkward and makes no sense
The spear attacks are great. Primary is good for hitting enemies higher on a slope and itโs also pretty fast, and the secondary can be useful for enemies just out of reach
Im not saying its not useful, gameplay wise
I think the issue is more about the realism than anything else ๐
Yeah partly
Realism but also the fact that it doesnt use its length. Thats the whole "point" of a spear. pun intended
even in irl Spear good weapon choice light and good reach
If it had more length some other part of the attack should be made weaker
An overhead thrust makes sense if you need to overreach a shield or other defenses. But otherwise, a spears role, is to use its length to its advantage. It doesnt do that in Valheim
@nocturne wolf Thats a valid point, but could be a balance issue. It could be compensated
Thatโs what polearms are for, if you want a long melee hitbox
I just mined 114 iron, is that enough for the entire game?
We have an atgeir for that, if also spear would do it it would be way too similar gameplay-wise
No sadly ๐
Aw shucks. I just mined an additional 500, is that enough maybe?
Well with my total 614 iron I just made a helmet. I need more iron now. Lol
I mean, I can see your point when it comes to roles. But I dont think have variations for each gameplay style is an issue. It could be balanced.
That might ๐
Nah but for real though will I ever need silver again? Mid-mistlands
However, rule of the thumb is: "There is NEVER enough iron." ๐
To me personally, its like having a pistol and an SMG in the same game, but you only use the pistol for melee
๐
Just a tiny bit ๐ and bit more than a stack if you want a certain weapon
Arent there decorations and defenses that use iron?
No no, mistlands atgeir ๐
Yep, but they are not necessary
Building a proper longhouse and surrounding for all fathers return is ALWAYS necessary
But there is no need for iron in that ๐
๐ญ
Which one is that, again?
Is it even worth making, cause I have mistwalker
Have you crafted new cauldron upgrade to unlock some new foods?
I mean is the Himminafl worth making over mistwalker? I only see mistwalker's benefit is probably the passive of working like a mini-wisp
Both are good, partial elemental damage.
Not really, one is not clearly better than the other, if you are used to swords then stick with them ๐
The atgeir does spirit, right
No, it does lightning, mistwalker does frost and spirit
Lightning and pierce.
Mistwalker is like Frostner in terms of damage types but slash instead of blunt.
I'm not sure of any creatures weak to lightning except them stepping in water
Ashlands has an enemy that is weak to lightning
Is it only just one creature or a specific group
And enemies are rarely resistant or immune to it ๐
One creature, but itโs one of the rarer, stronger enemies
Well I don't see a point in making it unless something's weak to it, or if it does something better than my other weapon (e.g stuns enemies with the secondary)
Who would that be?
Nobody is saying you have to make it ๐ you will be perfectly fine using mistwalker
I didn't say that lol.. I just wanted to know if I ever needed silver again since I'm midway into the mistlands
It's really good if you like atgeirs, the secondary attack has some highest amount of stagger it cause on hit.
Atgeirs are one of the best weapon class for crowd control.
Interesting.. I could make it now
I would personally say the best for most of the game ๐
Thanks for that tip. I did not know that
Is that why people consider black metal atgeir good for it?
Atgeirs are really good through entire game, especially in bronze and black metal age.
i jumped inside castle cleared it somehow andthis chest has 3 stacks of flametal ore and coins sitting there
cant open this door am i missing key?
Just dig under
That is one of those Ashlands moments.
hmm
There is one tool for destroying doors.
brain barf moment
Either dig or make ||battering ram|| if you have flametal ๐
One last question; Eitr armour or no? I've generally not seen any upside to it besides a bit faster eitr regeneration. I've tried 1 mage food, 1 stam and 1 health food and my eitr pool seems fine
If you're going for the mage playstyle 100% use the eitr armor
I used 2 eitr and 1 stam food when playing mage, with the eitr-weave set, you dont really need any health food since oyu have the shield staff ๐
Depends on your playstyle, if you go more offensive with staves you could use 2 eitr foods and 1 stamina for movement. Shield staff makes you not needing that much HP anyway.
What does that shield staff do
whole thing seems sorrounded by unbreakable material
You could read the description of the staff.
Makes a shield around you, absorbing certain ammount of dmg
Basically shield that absorbs damage and breaks after limit.
Doesn't tell me the full thing though.. I was asking if it summons a shield in front of me, or if I get it and its a one time use though (like if I took 1 hit it'd disappear)
Thanks though.. I'll look into probably making it
I could probably mix and match the armour, probably an eitr weave legging would be fine
Is one able to increase how much damage it can take before breaking or is it always a set amount
Have to raise your blood magic skill

Lol
Just two knowledgeable vikings out here
๐ค
You can increase the duration of the shield by increasing the quality of the staff. @median ivy
Thanks
i managed to jump through opening on roof now i am stuck inside
Oops. Now there is only way up or down. Up with stairs, down by digging.
You can dig through the corners ๐
Quick question, do we have 2 handed spears in the game?
I know we have 2 handed weapons like Atgeir
nope, all spears are 1h and throwable afaik
๐
bruuu pickaxe almost broken from digging
is there any guarantee that Valheim will come to PS5 when the game reach 1.0?
how do I get console to work now?
You tried F5?
yeah, doesn't do anything since last update
You have -console in the launch options?
yep
weird
Was it still there?
I just added -console to mine, and it works
Maybe you have to retype it?
Nope, no mentions from devs or anything really
nope, no guarantee at all, i play on pc, still checking news for a friend who likes the game but only has ps, long story short: it's unlikely
Are you using mods?
no, never tried mods
just did
hmm, no idea then
dang
It really should be as easy as typing "-console" into properties - launch options in steam and then pressing F5 in game
Maybe asking in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202549675924787220 might help if adding -console in properties doesn't work.
yea, thanks ๐
i know it's quite an unpopular weapon, but recently i tried to craft crossbow for the first time and loving it, had to rework a lot attack/move timing and strategies, but once learned lots of fun, and never had such an easy time with ||Gjalls (crossbow for Gjall + demolisher for ticks)...|| i know i'll soon dismiss it due to ||the huge pierce resistances to come...|| still very fun
-# ||fenris hood+legs, root harnesk, feather cape; HSS food; fire res. + ratatosk + lightfoot = feeling safe all around Mistlands||
I like them too, very good for initiating the backstab bonus on targets with that huge damage. ๐
yup right, not fast enough to screenshot it but i remember a succesful backstab on ||Gjall's weakspot: reported 727,something damage||
You can also manage to ||oneshot Asksvins that have 800 HP||.
uuh right, was worried about other mob's res but i'll definitely try to make it viable also in next biome
made asksvin armor and cape and berserk axes with green gem for rooted buff
These resist pierce in Ashlands: ||all charred and Morgen||.
Good choice for axes. ๐
Close to best armour choice(s) for The Queen? (I don't care for Magic at the moment)
i mean if i go for swift armor i should pick weapon with hit and go right
Well, carapace.
I was told that the root chestplate helps because of pierce but I don't know anybody that does pierce except Dverger
Most seeker attacks are pierce, and ticks deal pierce too
well encouraging news then, i'm also well fascinated by ||blood magic mechanics|| and dreaming about ||self draining health spamming shield bubbles and then shoot super-deadly darts||, i'll see, not feeling to unlock the biome for now, maybe i'll manage to wait for 1.0 for that (still lots to do in meantime)๐
Ah, you haven't been there yet Vincy?
well, dunno for queen fight, but with "tanky" setup i still stick to root harnesk due to actually huge pierce damaging mobs in Mistlands ||(seekers? ticks? not all but part of seeker soldier's attacks?)||
Afaik one attack of the Queen deals pierce.
Soldiers don't deal pierce.
Offtopic but nice profile, I haven't seen that jazz music stops meme in so long
yup, i always kept myself two biomes behind last updates, then i couldnt resist and beat Yag before 1.0... don't think i'll do the queen anytime soon, looots of stuff/projects to complete before that eheh
yup right, misremembered
Heh, thanks. I had that pfp on my Steam account for a while but I changed it there, then decided I add the Jazz one here in Discord.
Yagluth was the worst boss for me it made me take a year long break
Nice, so you have very many infested mines to explore in the mean time.
Made it to day four and have only died once ๐ (I suck at this genre, having a great time, glad I picked this game up yesterday ๐ )
Ey nice! What did you die to?
a skeleton guy?
Oh yep, those things surprised me the first time around lol
They're pretty easy with a shield and/or dodges
I also am having a heck of a time killing deer, bows are not my friend ๐ but all in good fun
Sneaking up + thrown spear also works wonders
uhm actually i managed to do enough mines to max (well level 3 ofc) all equipment, made boss key and uncovered two boss locations (one for personal trophy! eheh), but, for instance, never tamed a wolf, then discovering new armor/weapon mixes and fun playstyles like once a week, and have big (maybe partly unrealistic) building projects/ideas ๐
Whoop, found the last sealbreaker fragments and the Queen's location in the same mine. Finally, it just tool 15 mines total.. ๐ Now of course she's right at the edge of the world, will be an epic journey to get there.
Just more mines. They're fun.
The mines are fun, finding them can be a chore at times
The first bow is terribly inaccurate. You could try spear throwing which is much more accurate when you learn the arc on it.
Although traversing Mistlands terrain does become MUCH less annoying with the cloak and jump mead
yeh, i tried my first one relying only on ||demolisher (never crafted before, like the crossbow)||, cleared in less than 10 mins and nothing could even touch me (but it was a lucky mine with ||no soldiers||)
Do mobs in the ashlands spawn to certain player actions? A friend of mine is convinced that when we make noise (mining, chopping, plain ol combat) it causes the game to trigger more spawns nearby
But I'm having a lot of fun and looking forward to building ๐ I DO love building in these games
Making noise attracts mobs, and I believe Ashlands mobs do have better hearing and will get drawn in from larger areas than other mobs
All mobs have the same hearing (basically 0), the noise you make have to reach their position for them to be alerted ๐
Guess it's just that in Ashlands there are more mobs then ๐
They spawn in larger numbers than in previous biomes.
@tacit crystal The first bow is alright, you just need to aim high at the start
The arrow falloff is just steep
yup that's probably the reason, also we tend to forget that the same "they're coming from nowhere" feeling hits also in super early game as soon as you venture in bf
Yeah, but even if it's aimed higher it can go wrong way, which is why I prefer Flint spear instead.
Indeed. First time I tried mining a copper node at night I wondered what the flying fudge was going on
eheh yup good times those ๐ ofc it didn't change, just those mobs are no threat anymore
Unless you really mess up. Not long ago I was oneshotted by a two star brute. I'd forgotten to refresh my foods...
ugh yeah happens, at least no more neglecting-food + building-high related deaths anymore ||(thanks to feather cape ofc)||
Yeah except for that brute incident all my last 5-6 deaths have been jumping off my tower before checking food
Now thank heavens I have the feather cape
Cause spawning, no. Do they follow the noise and investigate? Yes
How bout the times you forget you DON'T have the cape on and jump off a high point like you do? Lol many embarrassing deaths
isnt max hp loss from fall dmg 100?
Correct, but not always you have 100 health, if you were just fighting something, or just running around the base with some cheap food, or if you fall multiple times in a row while building stuff ๐
Or you've just been doing inventory tetris in your stores, cooking etc, and need to pop downstairs for whatever reason and...ohyeah, food dropped off. "Oops".
yup, also mountains can kill you because of repeated "hits" during the same "fall", based on true story
never fell to death
Aye, last death on my tower I had almost 200 health, but I bounced off a balcony halfway down. So yeah..
You are quite lucky then ๐
super true, happened many times with "secondary" characters
But, once I get the cape - it never comes off unless I die for some other reason
now rocking ||askvin cape from feather|| may be i will
yall seem to like falling instead of taking the stairs way too much
But...but... taking the stairs is so sloooow! ๐
They got da Parkooor spirit
Like, I don't wake up in the morning and think, hey, lemme jump over this fucking banister instead of taking the stairs
This is my tower in question. Jumping down really does save a lot of time... #screenshots message
This game still doesn't have ladders, right?
Just the skippy jumpy "ladder"
uh nice one! pine tree foundation huh?
yeah
Built entirely without resorting to dev commands - and I actually did not fall once during building. All my deaths have come after I moved in
Can you pop ancient armour and swords? I need an absurd amount of iron for my build but going to the swamps and jumping back is really grueling
yup fine build, eheh, ofc incidents happen when feeling confident and lower attention ๐
#screenshots message gonna steal this build ๐
Yeah they can be "popped" but if you really need A LOT of iron I'd argue that raiding 3-4 crypts and sailing it back would be more time efficient. The armours seem to give more than half copper, and it's not that much to begin with.
Plus mining shit in Mistlands keeps attracting leggy things with an attitude, not to mention the honkers
I stole it myself. Saw it in a youtube video and reverse-engineered it. Hardest part was getting the right kind of pine to grow
I'll try to swap materials once I get to Ashlands, I want to build that in stone!
you dont have to mine, just deconstruct ๐
That also makes a lot of noise haha
it does, but less than mining
It actually does more ๐ it makes 50 noise and pickaxe hitting stuff makes 40. But it is much faster to deconstruct things so you might actually attract less creatures.
oh, really? i thought its vice versa
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Creature_senses#Noise i am looking here ๐
i see chopping or mining deals 100 noise
Oh, true, i was looking to the table bellow, that must be for when it Is used as a weapon, my bad ๐
#building-screenshots message
stealing this too, dang black marble looks great in the Ashlands! Very nice colors
riiight, โค๏ธ huntsman bow
The...what?
no worries mate ๐
is black marble immune to the lava dmg?
The Honk of Doom
Build looks great just wondering about that lol
nice! ac / ventilation pipes maybe a bit off topic, still impressive
What is the "Honk of Doom?
Loud thing from above
I like to think the pipes are fueling some sort of mega smelter inside the building ๐
You mean the Gjall?
The giant tick blimp things that sound like a Horncall?
Do you mean by the lava boulders that sometimes fly out of it?
no like, can blackmarble be placed on the lava pools and not be destroyed idk how to phrase it
like i know that flametal pillars can be placed in the lava areas and not be destroyed by the lava
Should be simple enough test, give me a minute ๐
thats a good question
anyone wanna play ?
Nope it is not immune, it gets destroyed ๐
Word
Bird?
Dumb questionโฆ but shield generator doesnโt protect it?
Havenโt really tried building in the Ashlands much.
Shield generator protects from the fire rain but it doesn't protect from an object being placed on lava
That only protects from weather and projectiles ๐
I figured, makes sense! ๐
Is it just me or do the iron torches light up a lot more area than the hanging lanterns?
If you mean the dvergr lanterns then yeah. It's the tradeoff - you don't have to add fuel, but they illuminate less
If you mean the hanging brazier fueled by coal I don't think there's a difference
It counts as a fireplace, so maybe a bit less?
Hanging brazier illuminates pretty solidly I think, but yeah I mean iron torch vs. hanging lantern.
Man berserker potions are so op lol
Chickens don't eat flax, right?
you become alcoholic ๐
fr drinkin every 20 seconds pretty hardcore if you ask me
Drinking every mead should give the feeling sick debuff
Nah, weโre not light weights
Drinking every mead includes drinking lightfoot mead
Our vikings are already dead, so they don't suffer from hungover.
is there a lore reason why some monsters instantly drop loot on death and others have a delayed drop?
There should be an achievement for having every potion effect on ya
Lore reason? I don't think so.
"How did we get here?"
I think it's suggesting that your weapon physically destroyed the enemy rather than just killing it, such as with blobs and skeletons
...or they just didn't want to bother with ragdoll death physics for certain creature models. As much as I would have loved seeing a seeker soldier tumble down a cliffside, I understand why they don't.
With skellies it makes a lot of sense, and is very satisfying as well to send bone splinters in all directions
When you bash a necks head in and it does the 0.1 second t pose upon death
I always assumed the delay is meant to announce significance
???????
Enemies more likely to have a longer death delay are usually those who drop something of good use such as trolls with their troll hide, abominations with root and guck or soldiers with mandibles
Although the more I think about it the more this analogy breaks down the further you progress into the game, I believe valkyries and morgen just poof almost instantly ?
It's consistently inconsistent
Like Fader has a full on ragdoll, queen doesn't etc
Although i think most enemies just poof yea
Abominations and trolls seem to take the longest
Maybe thereโs something that ties it all together maybe the devs just winged it and made it up as they went along lol
think it's the last option lol
Generally bigger creature = longer ragdoll. If I remember right lox last a while too
tameables last a decent amount too and deer
I cant get over just how far you can yeet greylings with the crossbow. Especially if you're on a slope.
I suspect it is simply an evaluation of "time to program the death ragdoll tumbling" vs how cool it would be
-# Deer aren't tameable
You know those arent tameable right? ๐
Mb guys lol
How long is the t pose for bashing an iGod's head in?
I disappear into a plume of smoke immediately
Do you drop a trophy tho?
No Iโm the equivalent of a greyling
Shame ๐
You drop the trophies of the necks you kill
Anyone ever made a troll fight an abomination and how did it go?
Abom win
Pretty entertaining fight
Usually easier to get a troll into the swamps than an abomination into a Black Forest tho
I lured a two star seeker into a fuling village earlier tonight, holy high hells that bug went on a rampage
I've had a two star seeker soldier clear out a fuling camp for me
Those things are horribly tanky
Was a relatively small fuling camp but was still very entertaining, the 2x slam attack staggered then killed a berserker
I still haven't made it past early mountains in valheim, but I did once manage to lure a lox into a swamp to fight a bunch of draugr
Lox vs tar blobs is something spectacular
Early mountains is the best tbh
Youโre out of the dreaded swamps finally and not far from having permanent immunity to cold
I did wonder if I could somehow trap some wolves in a pit and tame them before actually going into the swamp
For sure you can ๐
Itโs certainly possible ive never tried myself
But it is hard
Wouldnโt say itโs worth it for anything less than a 1 star tho
I ran a server where there was a huge mountain close to spawn, freshies kept getting murdered by wolves and fenrings coming down from the mountains at night
So in theory I guess you could get pet wolves aready at the stone age ๐
I'm not bothering with bronze armour, only weapons and troll armour
Troll armor only has 6 less defense but doesn't slow you down. It's better
Going from troll straight to iron? Or skipping iron too
Bronze armor is the biggest noob trap it's pretty funny
I'll try to skip iron and just upgrade troll fully, maybe get iron helm
yeah even I (heavy armour lover) have started skipping bronze, troll is perfectly fine and you keep your movement
Iron armor is imo the best looking heavy set
I got frost resistance potions the second I entered swamp, so could skip it
Thanks for letting me know, as one of said noobs
There's absolutely nothing wrong with bronze if that suits your playstyle.
How do you guys feel about using Atgeir as a main weapon? I read that it lacks behind at bosses and general mistland
Anybody else love getting 6 more armor and getting a -10% movement penalty ๐ sure seems good to me
Atgeirs are really strong, himmin afl is great, bosses yea it's not the best
I fell on noob trap when I played the first time.
So did I
I always go full bronze. I dont care lol. I like how it looks, and i like steady progression
I could skip, but why would I. The game is fun in all stages for me.
I mean yea play how you want but mechanically bronze armor is very sus
I love the Atgeir, especially in the plains when a bunch of fulings gang up on you
@shy marlin Why do you think its sus? Its just more armor.
6 more armor is not worth it for -10% movespeed
^
Troll armor should get nerfed so that the gap is a bit bigger between the two, and a light armor is actually a light armor set
Ive done full bronze all playthroughs Ive done. I havent felt the -10% movespeed was a problem
Hell I didnt even notice it
I mean congrats but the mechanics still don't lie
So give troll armor a try, then you notice it
youre gonna get troll hide by the time you get bronze, it has no other use so best value is troll hide gear as its still rly good
Sometimes it is fun to combine bronze helmet with troll chest and legs pieces.
Im familiar with troll armor, and how good it is. For efficiency, no doubt its the better choice. But at the same time, I dont like its appearence. I also play a bit light rp like
No movement speed penalty by using heavy helmet.
