why would it not be great outside of solo normal? for example, why not great on solo very hard? what would be better? also what would that mixed set look like?
@craggy niche
Morgen gjall.
Hard scaling in Ashlands, the Ask set will be oneshot by 1* warriors, zero resistance to all fire damage including Fader, etc.
In multiplayer, enemies scale with more players and you need to compensate for the occasional lag and desync hits taken
full flametal HHS also gets 1shot by 1 star warriors
and you use fire pot on fader fight
HHS?
health / health / stamina food setup
I did not get oneshot
i just testd it on vh
I tested on hard
For very hard, I would put on a Santa hat and maybe run around without armor
You may also want to test 3x HP if you actually want to try very hard in Ashlands
no HHH is very bad on very hard, you need stamina to move, specially in ashlands. on hard, you lose almost 80% hp + get staggered from 1 star warrior, that is not acceptable
you will get staggered and finished by something else, so you might as well have been 1shot
HHH isn't very fun, but it would be interesting to know if it can take that hit
and about mixed set, assuming you just use 1x fenris and rest flametal, you just gain 16 armor over ask set and still have -7% move speed and miss out on ask set bonus. not worth
Why would you have -7% movespeed? I have -2% (-3% sprint)
hmm not sure anyway not worth accounting for the other things
It's -2% movement speed if Flametal helmet and either chest or legs plus 1 Fenris armor piece, since heavy armor is -5% per piece (except helmet) and Fenris is +3% per piece.
ah right
For a serious very hard setup with melee, I would try to roll with 2x flametal + 1x Eitr/embla and keep protection bubble at all times
dont need the regen to maintain bubble, eitr food is enough
the ask set bonus is seriously good
Berserkir mead + drunk viking life works throughout the game
Ask set to prefer bow/xbow over magic when ranged is necessary maybe
Magic is just stupid strong at the moment to ignore completely
Magic is cool and all, but I honestly prefer melee gameplay.
Protection bubble is the new parry buckler
It doesn't even have movespeed penalty
Another benefit: it doesn't add absurd knockback on parry that yeets enemies so far away that followup combo is impossible
honestly ive never used berserkir mead, i feel the duration is too low and for example if im fighting boss then i barely have time to hit multiple times anyway because i gotta roll their attacks inbetween
Bonemass, berserkir, smack smack smack, berserkir, smack smack smack
well personally i only play vh so doubt bonemass would save me
but i guess theres some windows wherei can use berserkir mead, like when fader is summoning minions
I expect Fenris to be better on VH; stamina usage compensated by skills already
or shooting fire beam
Stamina cost reduction is equivalent to a bigger stamina bar; more movespeed to simply walk away from attacks for stamina recovery seems more useful. I don't play very hard though. I don't know any multiplayer server that scales that high.
is there a button to toggle off greydwarf lootdrops they are sooo annoying
For some perspective maybe, out of two hard fights with Fader:
- all Ask set players died
- all Embla set players died
- Flametal players did not die
- Fenris players did not die
- no other armor sets to compare to
Could be player skill difference, but this is how two fights turned out with ~6 players on a hard server
I don't think the boss was challenging compared to starred enemies in Ashlands though
Hello! So I have this game for 2years now. and really, I'm just going start playing It, my friends are not on this genre so. I'll play this as a singleplayer. thoughts about being a solo players? Is it fun?
Yes, the game is a solo player game that you can play with friends, it is very fun to work trough alone and if you do want to play with other Valheimians look at #1024264966712340510 .
Hybrid HSE is also cool, just use the bubble and the occasional vine
the rest melee
Yeah, I played HSE setup quite long before Ashlands came, then during PTB too. Dundr was fun tool to use.
Now, Post-Fader HFF food setup ftw. 💪
Imagine DN feast FFF
will literally be best combo then stats wise right
We will know when it’s cooked 🙂
85-85-43 + 75-75-38 + 65-65-33 = 250 total HP, 275 total STA, - 114 eitr ..?
not enough to summon a troll but you got protection staff and roots
What's the best copper weapon?
atgeir
Copper knife considering it's literally the only one
Copper knife, because all the other weapons from that age require bronze.
this dumbass asksvin really just ran out of my base and died to deathsquito huh
turns out harpoon is useless for trying to bring tames back to base too the stamina drain is insane
Then what's the best bronze weapon?
Depends at your playstyle.
If you like to use the maces it's the bronze mace. For others it's the sword, the spear or the atgeir.
The one I like the most from that era is the finewood bow, combined with a spear or mace and a buckler.
And the mace is useful in the upcoming biome as well, as that boss is vunerable to blunt.
So "best" is really player dependent.
atgeir
One of the best parts of this game is you can’t really go wrong with any playstyle, just use the weapons you like, and make sure to try each weapon atleast once, sure there’s an optimum set up but playing optimally can suck the fun out the game
I will also vouch for atgeir
Huge AoE, makes quick work of trolls and greydwarfs
hi
I lost my swamp key so im refighting elder and holy the berserkir axes finish him off before he can even stand up pretty much
Considering you get them 5 biomes later i would expect nothing less 😁
That is true I wonder how they would fare against queen or yag
8 seconds to go through 2500 hp
312 DPS
Nice, quarter HP in 8 seconds xD
This is at lvl 50 axe skill
I thought I was a good mage until I encountered a pissed off dwarf camp...
is there a reason why raspberries are not cultivable?
they're literally in farms of abandoned villages found in the Meadows
the technology to cultivate berries has been lost over time @wind lark
So you actually have to explore and do gathering runs 🙂
lmao u can just spawn trolls on them, the dvergs dont even become ur enemy
Huh? Troll?
I only have frost ember and shield staffs unlocked
ye mb, well anyway u can just max distance and shoot fireballs also
They regen faster than i kill them
for those healing dvergs you gotta stagger and kill em tho
It’s not even really that big of an issue, I don’t use raspberries anymore but blueberries I still go on runs to restock on ratatosk and it’s a nice change of pace from the usual, plus it’s not like your running skill doesn’t benefit from you running around collecting things you need
just stunlock em with atgeir and finish
but u can def kill off a few rogues and such here and there
Same with restocking on mushrooms once you get enough points of harvest
Either kite them to seekers / gjalls or kite seekers / gjalls to them.
I was saving them from a gjall because they saved me from seeker soldier but they turned on me and when i noticed i didn't even have a shield cause there was just so much fireworks everywhere lol
what do the yellow dvergr mages do exactly? i've been through the mistlands in 2 playthroughs by now but i never noticed their attacks
Healers and buffers i believe
can they attack in any way?
They can summon kind of a red mistlight that fights 🙂
Also they fire homing missile kind of projectiles.
i see i see, thanks y'all 🙏
Dvergr team comp potential is pretty awesome
Big thanks once again to Irongate for increasing the flour stack size to 50 👍
yea the red ball homing missile like they said, but u can kill it
(this isn't a ping) are they saying valheim got 13 million sales between 2024 and 2025 or 13 million sales as of 2024 xD
Latter is how I read it
Strange relation, but I'm not an expert on game sales and activity
I mean yeah I read it as the former but it also seems impossible so I assume it's the latter xD
this game does have crazy retention tho
there's still like 30k people playing it everyday years after it exploded
13M sales on nonlaunch year would be exceptional. I suspect that the expectation is too optimistic to be realistic.
Steam charts estimates total game owners to be in the range for 13M (cumulative since EA launch).
That makes the most sense.
the last official number we released was 13 milliion sales from 2021 to 2023 😉
or sometime in 2024 🤔
total number of sales (official number) is atm 13 million still
alright, thanks for clarifying xd
So around £100-200 million GBP in revenue sheesh
And from the 13 million vikings it has retained about 0.2% of that player base playing daily
ok numbers given content arrives much slower than people blow trough it
The Top 50 games by sales ranges from 300 million+ with Minecraft to 24 million call of duty at No.50
Terraria also maintains around 30k on steam with 67+ million sales so valheim is not doing bad at all lol
in 2024?
Not sure when it’s on Wikipedia
Sorry, misread
Black Ops 6 peaked at 300k+ online in November. Down to 100kish now. That's only 1/3 retention for a very popular series.
u mean to tell me that minecraft's sale revenue for 2024 is 300mill?
No that's total. COD is at 500mil total for the franchise
No I was referencing total sales not revenue like individual sales
CAll of duty is different also in the sense that it’s a game series that has been running for decades and maintains a dedicated player base
Similar to other long running games like fifa
Exactly. So the numbers Valheim is seeing is really remarkable to me
I mean the devs expected a few tens or hundreds of thousands not millions of vikings lol
From a modest incredible dev team. Valheim is still goty for 2021 IMHO. Here we are years later.
Best comparison I think is BG3 with 15M sales quoted in 2024
With a tenth of the company size, achieving similar sales numbers (over a longer EA period). If the Valheim release breaks 15M sales (seems feasible from 13M currently), I consider it a much greater success.
Eh there’s no point comparing apples to oranges, the game stands on its own two feet
I really do love this game though and it’s very easily become one of my favourite games of all time, I just don’t find myself getting bored of it and I’ve barely scratched the surface of multiplayer too
Bg3 also should expect a good reception. It's DnD in digital form
Same. I've played a ton of survival games. None check the boxes like this does
The comparison is success with other successful games by sales criteria--nothing bad about any of the games or companies; just a comparison of which game/company receives the bigger pile of monies (positive consumer reception) at the end of the day
BG3 is already considered released and the team has noted EOL already, so it certainly isn't growing much further. Good benchmark that isn't a moving target.
For me it’s like a cross between Minecraft terraria and Norse mythology and I grew up on being interested in all 3 of those so it really does scratch those itches
it's a perfect storm of a lot of little things coming together
compelling setting, good use of light and shadow to make the most visually, building serves practical and aesthetic purposes and gives you recurring reasons to gather, whilst the game progression is largely about expanding tools to do that and available options for gathering
The way the world expands as you progress, the tiered nature of both the world and gear progression, it has this similar essence to terraria where you get into hard mode for the first time and the world just keeps getting bigger and bigger
That first time zooming out all the way on the world map
Is terraria map also randomized
Hell yeah
Nice
It’s similar in the sense that there are certain parameters for biomes generating such as how swamps plains etc generate certain distances from world centre
Terraria is the 🐐
For sake of a runs (solo or group) longevity. I wonder how more life and purpose can be given to Valheim. Through rp and other means this easier for group play
I've honestly yet to touch Terraria. I put a fair amount of hours into Conan Exiles and others
I mean my individual playthroughs already go into hundreds of hours of playtime I’m currently on around day 280 and like 1/3 through Ashland’s
plan is to kill fader by day 365 I’m not in too much of a rush atm
Server I'm on now is past day 1000. We still haven't beat Queen. Just thinking. Would npc or other things that offer to the day to day be worth or welcome
I can definitely recommend terraria if you enjoy this, and also try playing it as blind as possible without too much help the first time round
Ok. Yea for sure. Blind is the way.
Is there a way to organize craftables by groups, or biome, etc?
Yeah, you can put them in any box you like and stick a sign on it.
I recommend having boxes dedicated to the items you come across the most and separating biome drops by biome,
Having separate boxes for mead ingredients, meal ingredients and cooked meals
You wanna design a system that’s convenient for you, having chests near crafting stations with your most commonly used things and not too far from the bulk storage space either
wait not those, I meant when ur crafting stuff like new weapons
No, I don’t think so. Might be a command for it?
You mean a way to organize the menus in the crafting interface, yeah?
I think so
Gotcha; yeah as far as I know, you can’t organize a forge in that way.
I am sure people lament about this in here a lot, but what's the best trick for quickly finding some Stonehenge locations once you're ready to find/kill Yagluth?
Not really any particular tricks other than just good ole’ fashioned exploring. Sail, shack up at any plains biomes, throw down an emergency return portal and just start wandering until you find either a vegvisir or an altar.
Poison swamps in Valheim when?
Yeah, I was afraid of that, lol. Onto the next Plains, I may just carry a Saddle with me and AFK tame a Lox each time
I think maybe the most efficient thing you can do is sail by plains, like search from the sea, because there's a good chance you'll be able to either sail by the yagluth site or the stones the vesvegir can spawn at, and see them from the boat
That's not bad, I could even load a boat up with a bunch of portals and drop them off, but no need to check the whole plains by foot until I have sailed by a couple of different Plains
that's a really good idea so you can come back in genearl but also specifically for bigger plains that maybe you CAN'T see all of from the coast, if coastal searching isn't working after awhile, come back with the portal to poke about inland
Yeah, we like that. Chat saves the day once again
Are swamps with poisonous enemies not enough for you? 😄 (and other than the ones we have, never)
Maybe he meant poisonous waters and poisonous rain?
why do spears just have awful durability
I'd imagine something using less metal to craft to be not as durable as those that need more metal.
Spears are much less metal demanding weapons after all.
That would be an insane hard-mode exclusive obstacle. Swamp waters poison you, building up more the longer you’re in it. Some real Blightown vibes lol
if they have time, adding a more challenging variant of existing biomes (in the vein of the poison swamp water) that starts only "X meters out from spawn" could add a lot of variety
I imagine that's a LOT of extra work to ask
I almost always find the altar before a vegvisir, because it's huge in comparison and can be seen from the water in a lot of cases. Hopefully you know what that looks like so you don't accidentally skip it.
i don't know if i've ever found a vesvegir for yag lol--I always stumble across his spawn site
I do, and thanks
guess that make sense
but at the same time it's a very overlooked weapon class, and having EVERY spear have the same durability, regardless of its made of, is kind of too punishing
the fact that the splitnir, and ashlands tier weapon, has the same durability as the first tool in the game, the stone axe, is a little crazy
I think that might be consistent across all items--maybe there's an argument later items should be more durable, but as is I think all items of the same 'tier' will tend to be the same durability
Are there more people rn having server problems?
I just want more biomes and I feel "hardmode" version of existing ones could be interesting
We get the 9 biomes, thats all 😅 for stuff you are describing you will have to look into mods i am afraid
yeah it could be an efficient way to sort of deliver more biomes, without having to do the whole new biomes
just a variation that's more challenging further out, maybe higher rates of valuables or something to add a little reward for the risk and probs higher star spawn rate too
and probably could honestly skip the treatment for the meadows b/c starter biome that stops spawning relatively close to spawn, and ashlands & deep north because they both occupy their own specific zone of the map and are so late the idea of an 'even later' version maybe doesn't 'fit' well
You could just crank up the difficulty, no?
I don't know about the durability ... I never reached the limit of durability even on a lvl 1 spear because i need to go check in at home to deliver what i found while exploring anyway so I just repair what is not in pristine condition and go on. And i am fighting a lot with spears as it is my prefered weapon 😄
i think i've almost only ever had the hammer & cultivator break on me
yeah so engrossed in building something that i punch the wall because the hammer broke 😄
and maybe the berzerk axes when I first got them and was testing them and both cutting trees and kiling stuff with them at tier 1 (and then I had a back up weapon so it didn't matter)
but a weapon never broke on me
yeah and then if you DIDN't put the workbench you dropped nearby under a roof and AREN'T near a base it ACTUALLY can then present a bit of funny 'challenge'
to work out whether its more efficient to just find the mats and make another hammer, or go the nearest covered workbench
I have one of those "oopsie" hammers in a box somewhere in ANY of my games 😄
I want a reason to explore further, really. And cranking up the difficulty would affect biomes that I absolutely do not want to affect like that. Im also not really interested in changing difficulty on the fly.
I just want to see more stuff as I explore.
And I know Im difficult with this but I somehow really dislike mods in general.
i mean, the VANILLA game experience should be its own self-standing affair--and certainly Valheim as is DOESN'T NEED mods--but a good game only BENEFITS from the addition of mods, whether just small tweaks to taste or radical revisions it provides a solid foundation for, but it doesn't NEED them, it's perfectly playable on its own IMO
so yeah the "just mod it" response can be a bit reflexive and overly used IMO
not sure how you count money 🤔
Game costs £15.50 however also has 50% sales so it’s just a rough guesstimate
13 million sales at £15.50 is ~£200 million
I’m not sure if your figure includes all total sales or just from steam alone and I guess I also didn’t factor in valves cut off the sales
to be fair, one could reasonably categorize Valve's (presumable) cut as a cost after revenue
now if we're trying to ballpark non-game sales (merch) as additional revenue in that total, that's a variable just zero information to get a handle on
you mean like merch
ye
I’d imagine it’s somewhere like 10% of the monthly user base
3000
I think that would be an underestimate too but it’s hard to guess really
you don't estimate valve cuts (Which differs on number of total sales)
And then xbox cost/win/profit to be on their platform
Isn’t it after like 10 million it goes down to 25%
lucky for you. if you "only" learn swedish. we have websites where you can read up on any company 😄
that's because you have a real country (at least, if half the hearsay which reaches me is true)
Steam takes a standard cut of 30% of each game sale. For games that earn over $10 million (£8m), the Steam cut is reduced to 25%. For games that earn over $50 million (£40m), the Steam cut is reduced to 20%.
I see
I never understood the point in trying to make out how much a game studio makes from a game
Iron Gate studio cost probably like 10% or less than the cost of Saber Interactive (who did space marine 2)
I realise the higher up the ladder you go the more people take offense to things like that
cost of employees, numbers of employees
cost of development (software, hardware, food, education, trips, etc)
cost of officer space
@near furnace i feel you on costs and such. i run my own foodtruck and prices, licensing, and so much other stuff to keep up with.
I mean majority of the money ends up getting reinvested into the business right
In my business it does. I never had a paycheck and ive had my business for 5 years
This would be even harder to try estimate there’s even less information available out there lol
yup
I would buy your food daily if I could mate
Running your own business takes a lot of love and usually double the time investment. Bless you sir. I did decades in electrical construction. Self owned meant 12-16 hour days minimum.
thank you!!!
i work every day lol its alot of fun though
When being tired feels good.
Ey guys anyone ever get burnt out trying to improve buildings to no avail? Or am i just a lil b. Damn, doing cool buildings is hard. My brain not big enough
Sometimes walking away helps. Either in game or something else. Another approach is letting the vision be driven by necessity. Just don't try to force it to much and let it flow
hi guys i came to ask you what you like about valheim
Ive just killed the second boss, ive seen a decent portion of the swamp
and honestly i can see that its a good game but something is missing for me and i cant quite wrap my head around what it is
Most of the skill leveling seems to be reasonably paced but wth is up with cooking. I've been on this dedicated server for 400 in game days and I've been cooking huge quantities of food to share with everybody throughout the entire thing, we're at plains now... and my cooking skill is only level 26. Wth?
Asking about Valheim in Valheim Discord server? Well..
Let's say after over 2300 hours it seems alright to me.
I'd go watch a valheim build video or a streamer who is building and ask for tips, tricks or so 🤔
What do you spend doing these 2.3 hours
I dont understand if i like it or not at all
So many good content creators for building
like i dont actually enjoy the things i do most of the time which is farming wood and mining
and the combat is pretty bland as well
Edited, 2,3k means 2300.
yes 😄
id love to build but it takes so much farming to build anything of substantial size
world modifers that gives you more?
yeah i figured i meant 2.3k too xd
try increasing loot settings. I did and I finally have the time to build all the cool stuff I've wanted to while still being in survival and all that
I can make nodes give me more materials from farming??
Like more wood from trees more ore from ore nodes?
you can make all loot increased
everything
anything you take from the world doubled, or tripled even if you want
mining stones, drops from monsters etc
Drop rate at 1.5-1.75 is a sweet spot for me
all but boss loot 😄
Ah I misread lol. But I've played since late 2021 and I've found it fun to me.
Hmm and what about the gear progression and combat? Combat so far even with the elder and elkthyr felt pretty 1 dimensional
its soulslite but somehow the combat feels so barebones?
combat gets more crazy the further you go
you're still early game.
Or i think its important to mention for me combat is very very important. Does the game have combat worth playing for?
I personally think yes
theres tons of awesome enemy design and various weapons to enjoy further into the game
Well, it's survival game after all, but you have still lot ahead. Anyway, welcome to the community!
Combat is my favourite part of Valheim
thank you haha i hope so
have you played any souls games and skyrim?
or monster hunter
but i doubt its going to have the arsenal of monster hunter
I have played all three dark souls games and Elden Ring. I haven’t played Skyrim but I have played a bit of Oblivion (I don’t know how similar their combat is)
how does combat in valheim compare to souls, oblivion and monster hunter if you played those?
like using those titles for reference to describe differences
Souls and monsterhunter got alot more fleshed out combat
Valheim is based on 3 "pillars"
- Adventure
- Building
- Combat
Is there any reason why that is? Like is combat not very central in valheim?
Combat in valheim compared to elden ring isn't as good but thats because elden rings entire game is combat. Valheim has so much more to offer and the other systems interact with combat as well
because the creator of the game wanted it to be like Terraria & Zelda games with combat
would it be a lot of work to flesh out movesets for mobs?
to make them more complex?
Ey do you have a favorite mate?
because at a certain point the mobs all feel the same with different levels of damage sponge
You haven't even reached bonemass yet just play the game lol
favourite what? 😄
Favorite build streamer
Is it going to become more fleshed out after bonemass?
Every biome has unique enemies with their own gimicks, so yes
The first biomes have the simplest enemies so that new players aren't overwhelmed
At least I assume thats why
In fact, friends, can anyone recommend me their favorite build streamers or such? I get super absorbed into like making the roof work and i forget to have fun with the damn game
you wouldn't like how i build stuff haha
What makes Valheim’s combat feel special to me is that you aren’t glued to the floor as much as these other games, it’s a 3D combat system that actually utilises all three axis of movement instead of being functionally similar to a top-down game. Although with some play styles or in tight dungeons you won’t notice this as much.
Really? So far it felt the opposite way where i swing over enemy heads with my mace if i stand on a hill 20cm above them
Definitely... Im tripping on tree stumps all the time trying to kite and dodge the blue big man
Some yt channels I still rewatch content from: Samaramon, Vetlive, SmittySurvival, Phinqs, Ninebyte
Thanks intricate clock person
Hope you enjoy friend
oh lord. to many 😄
my job don't let me have favourites
Positioning is important.
And enemies have the same issues with vertical hitting
It will essentially be the same afterwards. Valheim only has a small combat focus, not complete combat focus.
It isn't and will not try to become the next monster hunter or elden ring/DS
thank god
Big iron Greatsword guts valheim build
and honestly I find the combat to provide enough complexity to be very engaging even with it not being the sole or perhaps even primary focus
#screenshots message @sinful fulcrum I won't delete my world even if I died. I just usually keep the record of the accomplisment by myself. In this world I've beaten all bosses already but have just kept playing.
For stats: Press enter and write /stats in chatbox to get character stats. Press enter again and use PgUp and PgDn to navigate.
My initial playthrough was at launch so everything was brand new and there weren't any spoilers available online, everyone was in the same boat and trying to figure things out on their own. I really enjoyed that experience and recommend avoiding spoilers as much as possible.
In subsequent playthroughs I enjoy that the game is as difficult as I want it to be. The game doesn't force you to play at a certain pace, so you can go exploring with minimal supplies or do some non-linear progression if you want to increase the difficulty. Alternatively you can slow down, collect resources, build a base or structures, farm, and do more casual tasks that you might find relaxing. I find myself seesawing back and forth between creating difficult challenges for myself and enjoying the downtime. With the addition of world modifiers the difficulty level can be cranked up with both the enemies, immersion, or hardcore, and the resources fine tuned to your liking.
I recently skipped to the final biome after defeating Bonemass to see if I could do it (great success). It's things like that for me that keep me coming back. Not to mention there are updates that introduce new items or biomes that have me coming back for more playthroughs as well.
The game is extremely "Do what you want" and "relax" or go out and do the things
And mods are really good.
Neverending things to do
curious is there a way to dedicate more ram to the server? seems when there is 3 of us on it lags hard, (8 core 16 thread, 32 gigs of ram, nvme ssd, decent internet directly connected)
seems to sit around 900mb usage and sorta just caps there
Try asking in #dedicated-server
when a monster hit many building parts, is the damage "spread" around? Or do they do full damage on every hit parts?
Also I dont think ram is the issue here
Now, I dont know how Valheim was made, but you cant really "force" a software to use more ram than it needs. It wouldnt know what to do with it.
ill go ask there haha thank you
yeah no its strange cause it seems to cap and not use more than that
but then it lags, doors wont open, we glitch around mobs teleport and then it randomly goes away and comes back haha so idk
thats what I was thinking most other servers have always used more haha
I dunno!
haha figured id ask cause it was odd to me and then I was like wait I wonder if its maybe capped on ram
and it was haha
Whom would best to hire a dedi box in new york?
i believe it follows cleave damage like how we are when we fight mobs
Which is?
arbalest or spinesnap?
spread?
Are you asking me?
arbalest is for sniping. Spinesnap is for dps
im confused now
You say it follows a specific mechanic, and I dont know what it is so im asking you
i believe it spreads around instead of full damage on each part
that's what i meant by cleave, as in we the player (except some weapons) do less damage the more targets we hit per swing, tho sadly i don't have a troll on standby to verify 😔
I ask because im wondering what is better: make a wall out of Stone Walls, or Stone Bricks
or if adding strategy pillars here and there helps "soaking" the damage, and all that
I wish cloak appearance could be toggled off
to the ppl in valhiem vc chat rn idky but my mics not working
I've read some mobs like trolls do less damage across multiple targets. I intend to fact check this more. Based on that, the more pieces the better. Knowing different pieces have different HP. Stacking/merging pieces is relevant as well. Clipping pieces with high hp together or overlapped would serve useful
Ok I've gotta know, why does it seem like this discord is anti modding?
It’s not anti modding there’s just a select few who have strong opinions against it
Outside of the chats at the bottom of the discord it seems to be met with ... almost disgust
If you like mods play with them, single player game
Facts, and nothing against pointing peeps to the right chat, it just feels almost hostile when someone mentions them
Idk, maybe I'm reading to much into it
Nah I’ve seen exactly what you’re talking about
I think what makes some against modding is when people report bugs, and then it comes down to the mod being the issue
Which is completely fair
I could definitely understand that being annoying
But yes I don’t understand the hostility towards mod users
Me and my friends play with a couple of key select QoL mods; but we leave the core game largely unchanged.
Some people want to play Valheim Lazor Dinsausers vs Tanks 2094 - whatever makes you happy; you play.
Doesn’t matter what others thinks.
Facts
Just one of those things where I'm nosy and want to understand why people are the way they are
tbh I think mod hate comes from the time when metals being teleportable wasnt an option to toggle on or off, and modders made that a mod and it became so popular but the very select few got butt hurt because it ruins the "balance" or whatever and made it so you dont have to "sail" (even though I still sail)
That has... nothing to do with why I hate mods 😄
I've hated them since before Valheim even existed.
Don't come down here with your anger, trying to.. prove something to yourself.
This is a world you will never understand.
And you always fear what you don't understand.
I do get the frustration it causes at bugs.
“Hey, why won’t my menu open”
“Do you use mods?”
“Nah, it’s not my mods”
“But do you use mods?”
“Yes, all 264 of them. But trust me bro, it’s not the mods, none of them are menu mods”
"I altered the code of my game and that couldn't possibly be why anything broke." 😏
DUUUUDE those people drive me up a wall
But is that why mods bug you?
Don't get me wrong, I enjoy hating people for being stupid as much as the next guy, but that feels like a bit of a shallow pool for like, full generalized disgust
Sorry, was that directed at me?
I like mods. I was just saying I understand why some people find them frustrating on this discord.
I don’t mind mods. I use a couple QoL myself in multiplayer.
I don’t mind people who don’t like mods. They are welcome to enjoy the base game.
I don’t mind people who want Lazor Dino’s in Valheim; sounds like fun tbh.
Each to their own…
My b, I should've separated them
All good
The latter was at sev
yeeeee
The examples with bugs and people thinking they are FOR SURE not the reason the game Is broken are large part of why i dislike mods in this game. However other thing Is people sometimes coming here and saying "Why doesent the game have this and that function when this mod has it? It really should have it or Its a bad game design." As said above, people who enjoy mods are free to use them as much as they want, i have no problem with that, but let others play it also how they want.
I wish eitr armor gave just enough eitr passively to cast small spells without consuming eitr food...
Please tell me if this would destroy the game design or balance
I get that, some people are oddly hostile about wanting certain changes to a game rather then just suggesting them.
So does it really just boil down to "too many entitled morons"?
Pretty much imo 😄
Which spells would you want to cast?
Damn, I can't really fault that lol. I disagree with the mild hostility, but I get it
fire ball like once before having to regen, or the frost one for a moment
I really try to tone my personal dislike of them down unless it Is one of the situations above and the people are acting like "entitled morons" and you have nicely said 🙂 i have no problems with general usage of mods if people know what they can do and what to expect
Might not be too broken but current balance Is quite nice imo 🙂
yeah its more of a "I want to cast this spell casually or test on stuff without having to use food items" thing
Well using only one eitr food should be enough for that, that leaves still two slots open for normal food 😄
Now if I could have one change, it'd be workbench preventing death by fall damage lol, but maybe that says more about my impatience, and, it'd be WAY to exploitable
Hmm, how far are you in game?
I've been through mistlands (HATE) before but I'm starting from scratch to go through ash. I don't currently have a buddy though, so it's slow going
Have patience young padawan
Oh, the feather cloak calls to me lol
Just started typing if you found the feather cape 😄
I really like the mistlands, one of my favorite biomes
I'm a huge fan of incremental progression and slowly simplifying old tasks (dragon quest builders 2, my beloved)
I WANT to like the mistlands, but the mist is just... too much. If I could get better wisps, or like, set up gigantic towers to clear large swaths id probably love it
I've been exploring pre yagluth and I love it
It's gorgeous, but not being able to see worth a damn kills me
Also if you have 101+ HP you won’t die from one fall, doesn’t work for me though because I often eat 3 stam foods when building
Keep exploring I love the naturally mist free areas
They are why I want to love it lol
Found a big one near queen and a mine entrance and on shore and a dvergr mine plus farmable land and 2 roots all mist free, was great
Ah, see my luck is TERRIBLE. I've only found small rocky patches
How does the scythe work on turnips but not magecaps lol
bug
oh okay, I was worried there were strange balancing decisions that didn't match what you'd expect whatsoever
About the mistland
I found out recently that you can dispel some mist with the mistwalker sword.
You can even toss it on the floor and it still does that.
that's kinda cool
Its neat if you want to have the strength belt in the mist
However it doesnt change the fact that the mistland is horrible and I hate it
Yeah, currently the only weapon that does that, however the area it clears is much smaller than Wisplight.
Yeah, and it doesnt try to move ahead of you.
the ashlands are going to put me into a mental institution
The best advice I can give is to use the spinesnap with frost arrows. It really makes all the difference.
i might try that but id have to farm bow levels for that to be effective at all
my current bow level is like 4 now because of the sheer amount of deaths ive been going through
currently im using magic so its not going up at all either
for the most part its bearable as long as im sufficiently equipped
its just one minor mistake always leads to my death and a subsequent hour of death looping until the stars align for me to finally recover my stuff
atp im just playing one extremely long and difficult stealth mission where if i get spotted i just die
Morgen gjall.
How are they related?
Turnips are clearly buried into the ground, so its a little strange that the scythe even works on them given my understanding of how a scythe works, whereas the magecaps have long thin stalks with the top bits being the parts we harvest, perfect for a scythe to harvest
Oh, you meant that. You mentioned turnips specifically but it's carrots as well
Point probably was that both are farmable and one could have expected scythe working on Mistlands mushrooms too.
maybe its time for me to draw another combination of terror
just like the morgengjall thing
The abend you mean: #fanart message
I'd very much like that.
Greydwarf shaman mixed with a troll.
Asksvin mixed with wolf.
Abomination troll.
gjall valkyrie.
The possibilities are endless.
noted.
Im tryna play wit some people is there any new servers that i can join?

@near furnace thanks for the help, we got a whole giftbag after contacting by mail ☺️
yeah. I saw the email 🫡
🙏🏼
I said it like 10 min ago when I was there but I love the neck plushies at the bar
😄
So cute
ah, you visited the office
Not the whole office, maybe another time
yeah. the whole office needs to be locked down so secrets keep being secrets 😂
took armed to the teeth to a whole new level, and also scales multiple levels of a building
Too terrifying for me
This worked famously for me, despite some weather that made the first couple of days in game slow going. I had Ocean that was storming very near the coasts, then Black Forest under the "Shallows" that had dense mist, then the Plains itself was misty, but after that a glowing Vegvisir in an uncapped stone henge as night was arriving on the 4th day
Plus, I passed by 4 hares, including 2 one stars on an otherwise uninhabited lil Mistlands island
Members of public office tour before volunteer office tour is crazy!

Should I bother building more than one refinery as a solo player?
Imo I wouldn’t, one is plenty
yeah I've never had any need for more than 1
accidently aggroed dvger. 1 escaped. if i go next day will they stiil be angry? sry for my english
I find too, if you plan just a bit ahead--make sure to "pre-refine" metal or eitr, or coal from wood, barley into flour--you can much more efficiently make use of just 1 or 2 of each kind of processing building
Yep, they dont loose aggro
for specifically metal/eitr, at least in the current state of game i don't think there's any recipes that call for the unrefined state, so really there's no reason (other than preserving the supply of 'fuel' for other potential uses) to not just refine/smelt up all of it over time as you're at your base even if you have no intended specific use in mind for the mats currently
Will the the game reach its full release with the deep north update?
Yep
So deep north will be 1.0, no other updates after that?
Indeed
Can I take on bonemass with lvl 3 troll armor or should I invest in iron armor? I have the iron for it anyway, but was hoping to save it
You can, but it might be a little more difficult depending on your playstyle. Lots of players do it though.
I see, is iron armor worth it even? like is silver after this a much better option and would I be wasting a lot of iron for just this one fight then?
Most important thing imo is poison resist mead and a solid diet
Yeah, im gonna be running turnip stew, carrot soup and sausages
To me it is, I find the extra defense pretty good for the mountains
I see, I have like 150 iron btween me and a friend
So far just have a lvl 2 iron mace and an iron buckler
greetings all .I am new to Valheim .got it on the winter sale on steam .I have to say that this is the best building system .totally in love this just 2 weeks in.
The building in this game has ruined it in other games for me 😆
thanks a lot
does it matter how many copper deposits I hit at a time
I noticed it splits the damage to it but does it also equally increase the durability taken
Is there a way to 'pop' a copper deposit like you would silver? I have dug out copper several times to the point of it floating, and nothing around it.... but I can't seem to get it to work. Is it because there is ground normally inside it?
hecc does popping it mean
Yes, but only after breaking significant portion of it and clearing enough space around it
The technique is exactly the same but copper deposits are often so deep you can't dig far enough around to trigger it. Not worth the hassle frankly.
the asksvin fr gimme stranger things vibes
it would like going back...or forward to the dark ages?
usually you can pop about half a copper node
you get left with a nice pit of an arena afterwards tho
Which i have done. (As this one as already about half out the ground to begin with)
Haha yeah I use that for farming. Or breeding. At least then it is used.
You know what i never thought about using it for farming thats a good idea
The problem is that copper has very large invisible hitboxes which may be still touching sides or ground, winter posted a pic here 🙂 #valheim-help message
copper is in my opinion the worst metal stage lol. tin is easy and abundant, but you barely need any, and copper isnt even guaranteed when you break a node piece
iron is reliaable enough to get
silver can be popped, or even found before getting a wishbone if youre lucky
black metal is just a constant influx
We know.
Scrap piles have actually lower probability of droping scrap than copper deposit dropping copper ore 😉 they are just easier to mine
Man people deep it too much, it’s designed that way on purpose so that greydwarves and trolls nearby are alerted and come bother you
Like how greylings in the meadows with tree chopping works
That’s why it’s so inconvenient and time consuming to gather it
is it actually? the little bit i messed with it i didnt feel it, but id already gotten most of my copper by then
It’s the perfect stage to farm mining skill early on since your antler axe takes so long to break it
Yep, 14.29% for the inside scrap piles and copper has ~33%
honestly it feels my like a time dump outside of the greys, low drop rate and high quantity required is an evil combo lol
ill be damned, i guess its just the ease of mining it and the concentration of piles
wait
those technically even out when you calc for bronze
Copper is great 👍
We haven't been playing long. And wondered if we could bargain for any iron. We are willing as a opening offer to trade 2 juicy, fresh and lovingly hand picked raspberries for 1 iron ore.
Just imagine that sweet sweet flavour melting in your mouth. The taste of unadulterated nature in my easy mouth full. Who needs iron anyways!!!
Please note very few greylings are harmed in the farming process.
Just spawn it in.
We have any way to reduce FPS hit with fires?
Have fewer fires.
Prefer not to live in total darkness all the time
I didn't say have none.
This game doesn't have a player trading system because you can just spawn stuff.
And if you really wanted to trade, you have no way of stopping the other person from just spawning it to give to you.
Literally like 6 torches = 20fps gone
Sleep until the sun comes out. Darkness avoided entirely.
Point light shadows may be the hit?
I've got a 7080X3D, 3070, 6000mhz/30cas 32GB, etc and I still go from 90fps to like 30-40 with a small # of fires going lol
Any tips against getting swamped by multiple Cultists at once in Frost Caves? I can fight them 1v1, but they always come in groups
ooze bombs
Use torches or stands. Those work better fps wise
ooze bombs
Oddly the cooking racks can block them for a bit. They will eventually break them, but helps as they stand at them for a bit not moving.
Frying pan as a weapon when? 😦
Haha cooking yes (which we have) but not likely
I know signs work in crypts, but would signs work on cultists too?
Iron Pan (Swamp)
Silver Pan (Because against undead 😏 )
Blackmetal Pan
Flametal Pan
Nothing that needs a workstation can be built inside dungeons
Are there any plans to fix the ashland region with the stutters?
Well yes, basically every patch there is some degree of optimization
I got a worse PC and I get better performance 😦
you play on 1440 or 4k?
1440
Yea, I haven't enabled it in this build
I assume you went into BIOS and switched on Expo / XMP ?
yea
posted specs in -help
Get a nice 100fps in a clean area. Look at the direction of lights in the base and it gets hit 20+ fps
not entirely true btw
do some investigating you'll find a fun meme 😏 (think about how workbenches work post hildirs quest)
Will check NV settings but never sure what to even set for games. Never seems to make a difference really lol
I'm getting what you mean now...
hmmm, I'm gonna test somethign quickly. Always had a slight suspicion but never got confirmation
if you do find something don't spoil it!
Just tested, there is actually a global key that disallows you from doing it. It does detect the workbench "nearby", but it still tells you that you can't build inside dungeons
Well now I’m curious 🥲
don't build those fences
monsters can't jump 😦
Hmmmm
okay no more! 🤐
Just me googling “Valheim build dungeon Hildir” lol

I’m guessing workbenches post hildir are a cylinder rather than a sphere range
I mean.. I am partially to blame since I actually asked for something
But what that would mean within dungeons I haven’t the slightest idea
yes
they use to be spheres
but it was such a pain to scale the towers in plains. we changed it to a cylinder instead
ohhhhh
and we also added the "workbenches adds distance to build radius"
So something something spam workbenches or is it not additive
unrelated note but that was a very nice change i might add
Like does 2 workbenches mean 2 more distance ?
no
It really is a shame we can’t build a base in the plains tower
no
But I guess you could build a base completely around it
devcommands > setkey > DungeonBuild
i think it would've been cool but it would've been pretty op lol
it's not a shame that you can't build in a location that monsters can't get to you 😄
Charred fortress?
not impossible for them to get inside
Not as invincible as the sealed tower yea
dungeon build was the default mode in Valheim pre-EA
It's the most violent biome, that's the one where it makes the most sense.
Also, there is a big difference between fortresses and sky dungeons
Thinking about it a completely sealed portal hub beneath elder would be impossible to get inside right
yea
no enemies that affect terrain raid you
mhm
elder = great chicken spot
yeah.. fix that before 1.0 perhaps 🤔
Ruh roh
😔 oh well just have to move our chickens to the troll caves
😏 unless that's on a to do list of fixes
adds respawning trolls to troll caves
the exploit I'd most like to "fix" is the chair trick
for swamp crypts and such?
I feel like that’s as simple as removing the trigger to teleport when door is closed
trigger to teleport appears when door opens
queen fight
😔
what if it bugs out in multiplayer? 😉
yeah. I want to remove. not add 😄
my only thing i want 1.0 to fix is seeker stagger bug 🙏
What bug?
the super flip?
Have the key be able to be used more than once on the door if the trigger doesn’t spawn the first time as a check to see if trigger spawned?
and if it hasn’t spawned, spawn teleport trigger
Although I guess then the problem is making it intuitive because how many people will try using the key again
seeker gets staggered mid animation, still hits you regardless
I haven’t noticed this. Is it for all attacks?
I’ve had that happen with charred warriors I think
hard to tell though with berserker axes
yea it can happen with a variety, i just see it with seekers the most
I can see why. Sure is a sweet way to make secret rooms 😉
if i were to really nitpick too i'd hope that the summons in fader would also be distinguished by nameplates but
that's a very small thing
inside trees >_>
Under a rock, behind a wall
ah i forgot about that one lol, going inside an oak tree
Maybe I’ve just not found the item to unlock it yet tho
there is no 2nd harmor in plains...
Will there ever be 👀
probably not
😔
and don't say things like that like it's truth
you can possible confuse 10000's of people
Apologies
nooo
I want my chickens to have endless warm
Is Askvin reproduction rate intended? From one feeding a small brood
We had two turn into 10+ eggs. Standard and a starred
by we I guess you had a player near them, then they multiplied
Since I’ve been farming asksvin I’ve not been having to skip any asks in related meals, I have them in a enclosure by my kitchen so they’re always repopulating like crazy
The tamer yes. I'm on a server for clarity. Drop rate default
anyone using the new bogwitch tame potion?
Them and chickens seem to be really good to farm, I never enjoyed farming boars
was useful for taming the 2 star askvins
I got round to crafting it but I’ve not used it yet lol
since they take their time
Are you using 2 stars for exploring?
yes
nahhh game calling you cheater for using the find bog witch thing #screenshots message
time to do the whole game again
It's like those games where you put /deaths and it calls you out for having at least 1 death
me? a cheater? how dare you
Well, that's the consequence for using console commands. Probably so people can't claim something that is not in vanilla game (like spawning starred variants of mobs that naturally don't spawn with stars and then claim finding said starred mob in vanilla game).
Oof my character will be flagged for cheating for the one time I cleared environment to get a nice pic as I didn’t want to wait for the fog
Cheater!
what is that command
Ey mate do you play the long dark also? You seem familiar
Unfortunately not that’s the first time I’m hearing of such a game, is it similar to valheim?
Yep it is mate, but its very i guess subtler. Just you against the cold, hunger and wolves
the "find" command?

Q: Does parrying a tougher enemy give more XP in raising the Blocking skill? I hope it does so that say e.g. in tougher areas like Ashlands where you can die a lot initially, then you could get more XP back to compensate ? Hope this makes sense. Thanks
no
Book me flights, am ready to go!
Yo why the fuck 6 ppl live in vc at the same time.....are they....watching eachother.??
Everyone in the channel is live
The amount of damage you blocked/parried doesn't affect to xp gain. You get xp per successful action: block grants 0,5 per blocked attack and parry 1xp per parried attack.
Plus note that rested effect increases the xp gain by 50%.
lmao
Does it concern you? is it breaking the rules?
No? carry on viking, carry on
it concerns me
the other person booked his own travel to the office 🤔
Mates rates? ❤️
i am allowed to care about whatever i wish to
🐦
Will I need sap or refined eitr in ashlands?
yea
Sweet. I'm gonna stock up
if ur mage ur gonna want more than you would on melee
I havnt had the chance to craft the mage stuff yet. But I look forward to trying it out
When you save your game by sleeping or in the menu does it save your world AND character or just the world? Thanks
i think she meant listing player stats
everyone does that has the ingredients and knows about it, helps a ton
Both
If thats to my Q then thank you - if not - thank you anyway 😉
It is. Discord has been failing all day. Need to do the same action twice for it to register
Gotcha
damn bro
im ngl the mistlands suck ass, i like the old design better. this shit is terrible.
Whats to dislike?
Too much mist paired with blistering verticality
i don't mind the verticality too much, feather cape helps out, tho the mist really be misty
Damn "bro."
I'm ngl the Mistlands is one of the best biomes. I recall the old design wasn't even design, it was just slapped on there to not have empty space and was always going to be removed and replaced.
This shit is awesome.
the terrain layout is awful, the mist is a minor inconvenience at best but the random cliffs you have to overcome with no clear idea on where your going, compared to literally any other biome is just a massive L
Odd way to spell massive W.
Mistlands best biome
I do wish the wisp light was a lil better tho
And that ptb seekers still existed
i searched for like an hour to wait for it to get better, then when it didnt i was like wtf is this? had to youtube to see if it was all like this.
has anybody had their world completely overridden when trying to make a headless server? Anytime I made a backup, it made backup of the world with no modifiers and a completely different seed. Whole world is gone now.
Personally I love the mist and the insane cliffs are both cool looking and can be exploited in your favor against the enemies quite easily. High ground for the win
I've been exploring the mistlands pre yagluth and being able to sneak right by enemies or choose to ambush them is awesome
they just don't see you until you're right next to them lol
No that would be Ashlands actually
Man, getting starred Wolves can be so annoying
Yeah esp 2*
In 2500 hrs I only ever got one 2* - got it in a hole - fed it but it had already had a McDonalds so wasnt hungry and despawned at dawn lol
The key is catching them JUST as the night begins but thats tough
wazaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap
Night seems so short when you are looking for them and I end up digging so many holes around a random mountain so that wherever I find one, I'm not that far from a wolf trap
Gotta do something with the days in between checking at night anyway
Yeah the night IS shorter by quite a margin
21mins (D) : 9mins (N) = 30 mins (full day inc night)
Yeah, but it just doesn't even seem like 8 minutes when you are looking for them. I got a "You Are Being Hunted" raid while I was looking, and I don't think those can be starred, but it felt like they wasted my whole night
Day and night
I mine this ore, but greydwarves want to fight.
I tame these wolves so that they will not bite.
Day and night
🎶
LOL nice 🙂
How far are you from Spawn?
When hunting them
Mind you that 2* I got was on the same island as Spawn but apparantly you get more starred mobs further away from centre
So 2* mobs are 1% chance - I remember hunting Spider Jockeys in Minecraft back in 2012 which are also 1% chance - took me 4-5 game nights to spawn 1 but MC has days and nights the same length (10 mins each) so you get more nighttime - so I feel you gotta be in the mountains every night for maybe 7-8 nights to maybe spawn a 2* wolf - RNG would need to be kind to you too
any server i can join ?
You could find one in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
You could also not post same question in multiple channels, that could be considered as spamming by the rules, just for you to know.
ah ok got ya
Actually several things can. Wisp torch, log bench, signs, food cooking stands... all (but the wisp torch) can help stop things from running at you if you need a second. I use signs in th3 crypts cause draugr have no clue how to destroy them. Cultist probably would though and harder to place that many quickly enough to stop them. I use the log bench or the food stands. Things I learned from speed runners.
Yeah, those don't need workbench to build, which Rianu stated in his reply.
So I would suggest cooking stands (wood ones) or the log bench. They are long enough that shouldn't need to many to keep them in place. The food stands will get burned up by them eventually, but you can hit them a few times before that. The log bench might work better as it's lower hit wise so might not get burned up.
Oops mis read that. Thought they said you needed the workbench. Long day! 🥴
No worries lol.
boap
I keep hearing about how you need a lot of iron, but for what exactly besides weapons and Armor? I managed to mine 200 iron, but wondering how much I can actually use
Ironwood.
This is after level 5 forge and pickaxe, macr and bucket btw
Isn't that only if I want to build high or something?
Playing a building game without wanting to build?
Interesting strategy....
You don’t need to use iron if you aren’t building anything too tall
I generally like large, max 1 story structures
Ah okay, that's what I thought, thx
One story 😭
I've spent probably close to 1000 iron on my most recent build :)
I mean, one floor above the ground floor
That's a lot of sunken crypts xD
we're on x2 loot multiplier so its not so bad
we commonly get 100 to 200 iron per crypt
I got the itch to play again! I want to do a normal play through but 1 life rule haha. Any good tips!? Hail viking brothers
Protip: Don't die. 😏
You mean deathless run?
AYE
Nice, as fellow deathless runner:
Preparation is the key for everything and is highlighted when you want to avoid any deaths.
If I want to expand my farm, do I need to trench around it like the rest of my home or can I just use the cattle pen fence around it? or should I use spiked wall? I feel like necks are able to tear down the small fences
Dont venture out at night xD
One of my earlier runs long before Ashlands patch ended because of night time in Swamps.
nighttime before frost resistance is deadly tbh
Five big strong vikings jumping on the wedge,
One fell off and lost their head,
Vikings called to Odin and then Odin said,
No more vikings jumping on the wedge.
Jumping is not authorized.
I def don't see me getting to ashlands... every. That place was insane with a group of 4 of us lol
I feel capable of getting to atleast mountians. Making sure I take it slow and prep
Honestly what I'd do next time is sail around until you find a swamp with surtlings and then just farm them for infinite cores so you may just have teleporters everywhere so night never happens.
Getting the finewood might be a challenge, though.
Could fell some logs, roll them together, then just plant trees around them and crush them under the weight.
Swamp is fine as long as you take it slowly. The preparation is very vital for swamp.
Portals don't stop night happening.
A portal lets you leave and sleep.
A bed let's you sleep.
Unless you wanna carry beds around, which you could do actually since spawn locations don't matter.
Wraith, Abomination, 4-5 draugr (at least 3 archers) and 1 elite. Rested buff went off too.
That'll do it. At least it wasn't poison!
I remember one time leading a troll into the swamp and letting that have fun for a while.
Still not sure why you're trying to say a portal wouldn't be helpful, though.
I didn't.
Aye, that is fun.
If you somehow get lucky enough, you could drink a love potion.
Two trolls should easily wreck the entire swamp and keep some good attention.
disappointing results, trolls not in love.
One run ended by 3 wolves (one being starred), I was sprinting uphill and wolves aggroed at the top and I had no stamina to dodge/block them and got staggered.
The worst thing was that it was just in border of Mountain, I was running up in Meadows. 🥲
Wolves are certainly the worst. They're really overtuned even with that full iron armor.
Bonemass never leaves my powers for now. It's too valuable basically quartering damage for free.
Two star being basically a one-shot now being a much more manageable 1/6th
Oh, I was in Silver gear back then. Fenris leggings, Wolf chest and Drake helmet.
Oh wait right I am wearing silver.
Starred wolves just seem like a threat no matter what.
Would rather face 5 drakes at once tbh.
But yeah, one useful tip too is that don't always run and especially don't run to empty stamina.
Utilising Tasty mead is quite helpful too.
Tasty Mead OP.
Oh yeah and always be careful with mining. I learned it was loud when I was mining a big rock and saw fulings barely in load distance walking over.
Half the tribe too I was just outta there.
What is there to mine near Fulings?
Nothing I was just hitting one of those large rocks cause breaking it gives a lot of rocks.
My friends love stone so I'm just seeing dollar signs tbh
Fairly sure breaking the whole bottom destroys the whole thing like most rocks.
Oh. When I need stone I mine copper.
Idk I just need a lot of rocks and getting them where convenient is always nice since teleporting is a very nice feature.
'sides, I think any reason to avoid carting through the black forest is a good one. I hate getting stuck on stuff.
But yeah I haven't actually tried a deathless run but I am thinking a couple of those strats should be helpful.
Maybe not the two troll strategy but one should do good enough, especially if it has a log.
Those few deaths over something that could have been easily avoided certainly taught very well about the importance of preparing and avoiding deadly situations. I've had 2 successful deathless runs: first long before Ashlands (I believe even before Hildir's quest) and another recently last fall. I still play in my latest deathless world.
god damn dude I sail so rarely in this game and yet the times i do decide to sail the game is throwing everything my way to not sail
need to get the second dyrnwyrn fragment which is right on the edge of the ashlands and of course its storming and every enemy is showing up i cant see balls
okay so i just spent half an hour sailing to this island just to get swarmed, have no rested buff and immediately die....
I have adopted catapults as the means of transport beween Ashlands isles
I plan to use mountains throughout the world for a catapult transport network but unfortunately this island is so far away from the rest of the Ashland’s that boat is the only means of getting there
In hindsight I could have prepared better, I didn’t have enough Grausten on me to be able to place the stone portal straight away and didn’t bring spare wood and lost some wood to it disappearing when I was repairing the drakkar along the spires, but man does it feel unfair and tedious to sail long journeys in this game, I think the game should give you a 5 min or so rested bonus for long boat journeys since you are ‘resting’ the entire duration on the boat
I just build a catapult on top of one of the grausten tower ruins and yeet myself; if I land in water, there's usually rock spires to swim/hop through to get there
Ashlands is surprisingly swimmable if not for the heat buildup
My plan B is to just sail along the edge of the burning ocean and then beeline for the island with the 2nd fragment at the closest point, f doing that again
Oo yeah ivs done something similar before I use the tops of the fortresses as launch points to explore the main continent of my Ashland’s
Did you build a massive tower? It’s not really clear in the video the height from which you launch at
Standard grausten ruins tower
Just built at the top
Just need a dry run to test for the right direction (playing nomap/noportal)
But it seems like most of the isles can be reached by catapult on those towers (with feather cape)
Noon gjall.
Just planted 120 carrots in under two minutes...
Makes me wonder how people can go and say farming is the most frustrating experience when it's pretty effortless
Not me cleaning up logs a Bonemaw felled, only for a Morgen to stomp through and drop 6 more trees. My OCD hates Ashlands ngl
I will assume planting triple the amount of that should take me 3-5 min
I don't mind the farming at the start but once you have carrots, turnips, onions, magecap and jotun puffs and you plant 100 of each it starts adding up.
It is a problem I myself create but I like to have all my farming done back to back, so I can ignore it for a long time.
That's also not including breeding/slaughtering as well as portal hopping for berry/mushroom clusters.
I usually only plant one thing at once but i try to do whole field, which Is quite large so my cultivator breakes before Its full 😄
It can be tedious but not the extremely frustrating thing some people keep thinking it is. Stating of how super long it takes them to plant. And I can't accept harvesting as an excuse considering they added a scythe
In conclusion: Mass planting is very super unnecessary
I get why it won't come to the game.
I actually agree with it.
I would still like it though, farming is my least favorite thing to do in the game and anything that helps speed it up is welcome.
I agree, it would be nice to have an option to use a magic staff to plant, and it does an entire row in front of you using seeds as ammunition. I've got so much Eitr food but only use it for combat atm.
btw how long does it take for cut trees to despawn
They don’t despawn
o and they don't lag up the world if you have too many of them?
Only if there’s too many nearby. If they’re far away, they won’t be loaded.
They do, hence this message 😅 #valheim-chat message
With farming set it probably take even less. 😏
If you are talking about the stumps they leave behind, they won't despawn nor will the logs them selves.
If they are turned into wood though, they will disappear in 2 game days unless there is a player base structure nearby, like a workbench.
They will only lag the world if you are in render distance of them.
o I just wanted to know about the logs, I'm going around cutting down a bunch of oak trees to get seeds to the point where I don't have to worry about them running out
🥴
lets see after cutting down 16 trees I have 20 acorns...
for some reason I've had way more luck with oak trees in this world than my previous one
have like 30-40 on the first island marked but I could barely find 5-8 on my other world
then again this starter island is also big enough to have plains on it so xD
damn just cut down 8 and got 0 acorns
Not super far, maybe mid way between spawn and edge. I would go further, but I'm trying to get some wolves near my Yagluth spawn, which is in this island. I think the island I am on has Mistlands, it definitely has a Sealed Tower. Still, I didn't know about the further from spawn thing, so thanks.
Hi chat/Hi Devs,
will be ever a option to play like we want to with the weapons we want? I mean by that is..i enjoy currently massiv the Twohand-AxtStyle..but i know...only until Silver we have one...why we cant have for each metall kind all weapons?
Its kinda sad to know you have to switch later or earlier, because you cant use the typ of weapon anymore...its so mean to "be forced" to switch out weapons.
I played already 1400 hours and still play around with weapons etc.
Now i see the gameplay of Twohandweapons (was stucked into Shields) and kinda sad to know "Yeah on the end just Twohand-Sword"..just sad to see this and know this, beucase a "END " is coming to enjoy this weapon.
I'd put my money on no
I’m going to be optimistic- I think we’ll see just a few more weapons added come 1.0 throughout progression
I do hope for a rebalancing of the weapons.
Less swords, clubs and other weapons that are in every or almost every biome and a few more fist weapons or other under presented weapon choices.
no
Highly doubt we’ll see less weapons 🤔
Maybe some rebalancing though
I'm very certain they will not remove stuff...
Frostner just gets deleted 1.0 😂
Its just shorter Content to play around...after this (for me) long time any rounds...just sad to see "Damn this and that plays nice as a weapon" and when yeah..stupid..YOU MUST switch it out because later this weapon type dont exist anymore in mid/endgame
Probably not but I for one would like to see some over used weapon choices removed and others added so that you either have to play with a weapon from a previous biome or adapt.
Either remove the over used ones or give the rest the same availability.
I would like an earlier crossbow
Late/end game battleaxe! ✊
I would like to throw a spear in a group and not have it picked up by the group
More dual wielded weapons.
I realy realy hope for full realse we get more weapons across al bioms or when i no speak like big ego..in deep north burtal nice looking battleaxt...
I hope we can have all the weapons choices in DN, it is the last biome and being able to play that how ever you want would be nice.
Duel hammers? 👀
Dual knives for sure
We already have one
Certainly, or russian style, sickle and hammer.
Ah yes sickle and knife combo
1 and only 1.
We also have dual axes but that are as far as I know the only dual wielded weapons.
We also have 2 fist weapons, our actual fists and the fenris claws.
If there was a primary and secondary hand setup. Knife in one hand and mace in the other. Or whatever combo
Knife + mace would be all three physical damage types on one weapon
I didn't think of that
Removed base building
-# not official. Don’t come after me
Goes out and touches grass
Rookie mistake
If I can't build in Valheim I'm forced to build more irl
i want a spear that returns to you after being thrown
and does damage on its way back, mjolner style
Spearang
indeed
First one is ok but damage on return is too much
At least a spear that can only be picked up by you and lights up so it is easier to find.
you think so? eh, fair enough
the spear only being picked up by you i feel should be a thing for all spears
it's really annoying in multiplayer
How to Cheeze Fader after ||TrollStav ||patch?
Why would you want to cheeze him? Why not fight him normally?
Seen few videos.. seems difficult fight using Magic build.
Distance and vines, bows or xbow.
and Im not good at dodge roll.
That's the point
It's the penultimate boss
And honestly, just ember staff can hurt him at a distance
I'd still go vines because if other mobs come to annoy you vines can keep them at bay.
Vines or roots? We planting vines as obstruction?
Staff of the wild.
ok I will try with Staff of the wild... I have seen ppls rekt it using Berserker Axes too.
I see. Pardon one. I haven't played with staffs yet.
when I'm in the forge menu why do I boop it faster when I'm strafing rather than standing still
Primal axes so you can keep him constantly immobilized (as long as you have stamina).
We can still go through them so better vines since they produce fruits
And they're delicious 🤤
yo
Haven't played since Ashlands first dropped, did they ever buff the ||other enchantments?||
Which ones?
||blood and wild|| since ||lightning|| was kinda seen as the best
I think blood got some tweaks, but that was quite soon after the ashlands release iirc, and all are useful 🙂 just in different situations and also dependant on your playstyle
Oh, lightning and primal enchants got higher chances of triggering on 26th of April
question about multiplayer and world progression. if one guy is online a lot (building, exploring) will that cause the world to get harder? or is world progression based on highest boss kill?
All based on boss kills!
Anyone in SEA or South Asia playin rn?
Is he killing bosses? If not it will be OK
You can look in #1024264966712340510
ty
although, don't the server settings also set (or are supposed to, i've seen people claiming maybe bugged atm) the progression to EITHER for the whole world OR per player?
Only the raids, not nighttime spawns iirc
yeah I think that's always been excepted, aren't raids + the changing (i think only at night too) spawns the ONLY changes from killing bosses?
I think so yes
killing bosses definitely makes the world more hostile then, but at least in theory nighttime is mostly avoidable (pain in the but though if on a server and there's no special modifications so it doesn't require everyone going to bed to skip night)
hello guys
i'm new and just bought the game, my friend wants to buy it as well but we are not sure the multiplayer works or not for us, can someone (preferably in eu or middle east) kindly add me as a friend on steam and let me join their world so I can be sure it works?
has anyone ever beaten this game solely through vr?
didn't even know vr existed for this game
It doesn't in vanilla game, it is a mod.
sounds pretty dope
Multiplayer works. But if you're concerned there are public servers you can join
any suggestions?
its pretty good, me and my friend have been doing it for a couple of weeks, weve got to mountains fully in vr, nearly beat the boss their and then its onto plains, pretty exciting, im unsure if anyone else had done it in vr so i was wondering if we was going to be the first to fully complete it in vr
but i bet someone else has already done it *
I turn my AC down and open my windows. does that count as VR?
Is it possible to place a fireplace diagonal in the corner of a room?
I dont see any reason why you couldnt given you can rotate the pieces
Why have my raids 1/2 the time never had any enemies come and then just end?
Most likely they probably have no where valid to spawn - if you are on a small island surrounded by water and/or if you have spawn supression all around your base.
Or they are spawning nearby and fighting other mobs out of your view.
Should all be clear. Water on one side but ground kilometer+ on the other
Nothing there to suppress them really intentionally
Had that same problem on other worlds too. It's strange.
#screenshots message @faint jackal that’s a really cool screenshot! I’m guessing that’s on the south side of your world? Would be a really cool spot for a base 🤔
Yeah it's near the ashlands. Prob going to build a dock / outpost there
I believe what happens is the map generation down south pulls the terrain down, @plush umbra probably knows a lot more about it. Pretty cool phenomenon!
bro i just defeated bonemass
and I Havent went to the mountains yet, I dont even have frost potions
and the mountain event happened in my base what am I supposed to do now wtf, I just died
Wait inside for the event to stop if you can, then the weather will return to normal
damn
thats so stupid though xD
what if I run away from the event zone does it pass too?
No.
thats even more stupid
Yes.
If you have any bonfires outside or materials to make a campfire you could’ve placed one to make a safe area from freezing
so I just have to sit in the freezing shit die 202002020 times and then at some point it will finish?
No
Die just a few times
Same thing happened to me- the freezing doesn’t do all that much damage. Just dodge and shoot the drakes, event goes quick. Consider a nice opportunity for some materials.
The event will pass
Happens in the north too. I've found mountains all the way up to the waters edge. Both far north and south
Is the Skoll and hati daggers good at all? Ive noticed theyre decent on everything except the mist bugs
They should leave after the event ends, if they can. At least that's my experience with other raids
Sorry, sounds rough
They’re still good against seekers and seeker soldiers, just less effective than other options
Secondary backstab on a soldier weak point can do a ton of damage
yeah but its hard to sneak without ever being seen
also i was only doing like 18 damage to seeker soldier using them lol
Skill and hati sneak attack (secondary) can oneshot seeker soldiers for ~1800 damage
You should be hitting their weak point when possible
should i even make carapace armor? since can you not noly upgrade it once in mistlands
until you go to ashlands
You can upgrade it twice before ashlands
ohhh
The max level was 2, then when hildir’s request released it was changed to 3
should I be using troll armor and risk insta dying to everything or keep using highest defense armor?
Fenris/root harnesk combo 👍
Idk your settings or your preferences
Idk your settings or your preferences
for the daggers?
im bein told to just use fenris set, but may I ask why this is the best aside from just the movement speed bonus?
It isn't.
It is only best if movement speed is what you care about.
So all the people saying that care only about movement speed.
If you care slightly less about movement speed, you will not find it to be best at all.
