huh i just noticed if u power attack and drink mead at the same time, u seemingly get stuck in slow motion
i was rolling right afterwards and just stuck slow motion rolling
same thing happens with eating food + dodge
Im have this world where im only allowing myself to make one base(only counts if bed) and no portals say i set a spawn point and remove it and relocate to a diff spot do u think that would count as more than one base because i set a spawn point?
Your game, your rules.
Id say it depends on if you plan on returning to the old area
If you completely relocate that would just be moving a base but if you have two areas you frequent and pop the bed between them that sounds like 2
Base is where all your shit is imo
If you leave the empty husk of a building and take everything with you I’d say that should still count as only having one base at a time
I’ve repurposed my old Black Forest elder cabin as a brewery for meads
but other than a few spare metal bars (and of course the brewery) lying about it’s empty
Why is new content to the game being added extremely slowly?
Because a lot of care and thought and time is being put into making the updates the best they can be
What counts as slowly? We got Ashlands and Bog Witch this year.
They’re fleshing out the game, what’s the rush?
3 years since release
Bog Witch ain't even been out two months.
Iron Gate is a relatively small team and a lot goes into every valheim update
Ashland’s was massive in terms of content too
Yeah but in terms of content I'd argue it's not such a daunting task to at least add more of it when you already have a base template done
Are you a game developer?
No this is not about whataboutism
It's simply that it isn't expected to take so long for a game like this to add new content
Based on what tho
Modeling and texturing, adding new weapons
Because based on the pattern of the developers it’s been pretty consistent
one major biome a year and mini updates inbeteeen
Well it took about 2 years to get to a consistent level but correct me if I'm wrong of course
I believe they stated that after the release of the game new content was postponed to fix all the bugs that were discovered by the huge influx of players
Which is respectable of course
Why don't they hire modders? I mean those guys finished deep north and Ashlands before it was even considered by the devs
There’s more to it than just modeling texturing and adding new weapons, there’s balancing them after and before there’s designing them and making sure it all meshes together
It’s not as simple as throwing more people at the problem, take Minecraft for example
Yeah but for a game where the textures are pixelated and models have less polygons it should mostly be a matter of ctrl + c, ctrl + v
There's a lot of solid foundation to work from especially today
i feel like having updates that add content once a year makes the players bored but I'm not the one to judge
Seems like those players will be bored one way or another at that rate if they can't find ways to entertain themselves in an open world sandbox
For me personally, it's like I can't even properly finish my playthrough cause i gotta wait years for it to be done
They have a vision for the game and I’d like to see it personally I think they should take all the time they need, there’s more than enough content out there for you to do other things while the game is being finished
If you want to play a finished game, don't buy in early access
You knew what you were getting into buying an early access game
Early access is nowadays just an excuse for everything really but i see your point
Do you not plan to make a new playthrough when 1.0 releases?
An excuse?
You don’t need to play the game if you aren’t having fun or have ran out of content to go through, this is the case with any game
Having to restart a playthrough every time there's a major update is also not something fun, seeing as I've already had so many of them it feels like I'm just doing the same thing every time to finally enjoy the 10+ hours in the new biome
Yeah, i just question the seemingly "excessive" need for time
It’s not? I’ve been doing it every time and I’m having a lot of fun, the game is what you make of it
Try doing something different each playthrough
Yeah it's all on the type of player, my opinion isn't objective at all cause there are indeed many factors to take in
If we just disregard the rest and look at early access being an excuse for releasing games that will never be polished or finished then yes, it's been a common theme for years now. I wouldn't say valheim falls into that category though.
Yeah, cause i felt like the game is just gonna stay in early access forever, don't get me wrong - I'm glad it's being worked on, I'm just unsure about the pace
Have faith
The next major update will be 1.0
Best I could recommend is either wait for 1.0 or do it yourself at that rate if you think it's as easy as copy/paste. 😂
we should see the ptb for deep north sometime next year at the pace it’s been going
We'll see, valheim doesn't feel like the usual fast cash grab to me though, as a scandi I appreciate that they've actually put some thought into the lore.
I've just started a playthrough with some friends, but I don't want to wait a year to start it again, or to keep myself occupied for that year till it's released
You don't have to start again
Come back to the game when 1.0 releases and play through the new biome
I can't rly complain though i get it but i just don't feel like i can keep my friends interested in it for so long till it updates
Yeah, that's another way to do it but I've always disregarded it cause i never rly return to finish 10+ hours of progress after not playing for a long time i always like to start over
I still feel like the game just needs more content, but regardless I'll be playing it i do very much like the game don't get me wrong
I think you would greatly benefit from taking your time with your playthroughs and slowing it down, I have a friend who plays games like it’s a checklist of things to do, bosses to kill and because of that I could never really get him into valheim like I have
Filling out your world and making it feel truly explored and lived in
Yeah, for example i build a lot of things when i like to take my time, it's just that people around me don't have the same feeling about it and it leaves me always alone in the end
I'll definitely try to slow down my playthrough to minimize this at least
Despite playing with a new valheim player who gets bored if there's no boss fight in the next 10 mins
I actually feel like the late game has a good amount of content, it's just maybe the early game that should get a boost
They have stated they wanna flesh out the earlier content more whether that will happen pre 1.0 or with 1.0 I’m not sure
That's another reason the updates have felt slow, the post-release biomes have a lot more content than the previous biomes
Yeah, i know this issue with content will get fixed over time but i just have a gripe with it in the present
I know it takes time, i just thought it takes too long sometimes and makes the excitement fade
It is just a fact of life, you can’t enjoy something at the same level forever
Having breaks from the game is important
I know, i just kept genuinely questioning the pace of the updates cause it always felt unanswered for me despite all the answers around
Not even in a negative way, i just felt like it doesn't have to take as much
That’s understandable I guess, but believe me the wait is worth it case in point being the mistlands and Ashland’s
I'm on my 22snd server. Just got the Ashlands boss for the first time last night. 2200hrs played. so....
mind you, now I'm using mods. Once 1.0 drops, will be trying it without 1 of them (the really OP one. the QOL ones (farming!!) will stay in.
oh, each 'update' is a new biome, so in anything but EA, it would probably be a DLC (and charged for) I'm quite happy with the game so far. 🙂
According to whom?
Is it possible to build a stone ceiling?
Yes. You can use iron to support it
As rafters or pillars?
You put iron beams or cage under the stone ceiling
preferably inside of it.
I’ve somehow never thought of doing that
i don't know where else its done i feel like i saw that in the mistlands bridges and things but i've discovered it on my own regardless
Yeah mistlands bridges use some variation of that
should i use a seed scanner to find yag?
if u want to go for it idk
steam trading cards and achievments coming?
ya
Achievents at least will come with 1.0
I wanna ride a drake
when 1.0 in plan?
When Deep North comes, it will be the same update, but we don't have a date for it or anything like that
Deep North coming tomorrow, 100% confirmed
Please don't.
the deep north is coming in yesterday
I can't wait to do another playthough when 1.0 comes out with my mom and my stepdad. When we played Valheim, I'd always do silly and dumb things to get us all kill. (I'm a litte jerk)
do other people experience extreme extreme performance loss in the ashlands when multiplayering.....like its not even lag, runs buttery smooth but everything is glitching the fuck out and teleporting.
legitimately and seriously unplayable
It can get a bit laggy at times, certainly more than other biomes, but very rarely unplayable.
well apparently only 70mbs internet speed rn
bruh why is the asksvin cloak crafted at the galdr table of all things
are 2* fulings common or something? me and my friend just got chased by like 2-3
they're not particularly uncommon
what? this is some of the most content i've ever seen in a $20 game, especially with more coming
you need to look at both upload and download speed, but video games use barely anything so that's not likely the cause of lag issues
valheim could easily be a 60 dollar game
i could see them going $39.99 at 1.0, but the market's very saturated anymore with survival games at that price, so who knows how that goes
where did that come from
ohh we were already talking about it
silver or frost arrows in the ashlands
Frost
silver arrows only do 20 spirit, rest is pierce dmg
while frost arrows do 52 frost damage and have the slow effect etc
doing a light build hurts my soul so far
my friends are so....uninspired that they're just spawning crafting materials in 👻
games like these aren't for everyone
Anyone have tutorials on how to put surtlings in Yagluth's eye sockets?
what
Just built my first askvin breeder, here's hoping it works like I think it should.
what are some best qol mods or must have?
anyone want to start a vanilla world ?
theres some fermenting mod that shows time left (this one? https://www.nexusmods.com/valheim/mods/825)
I agree.. I played the 60€ breath of the wild, but you can't build and one playthrough is enough... With Valheim I am having more fun and busy with my 3rd playthrough.. Just enjoying starting over until the next update 😃
any1 here tried flametal on vh? can u even tank hits?
was it night time?
Not sure what you are asking 🙈
Flametal armor?
using flametal armor on vh
because the dmg is so high so i never bothered but im wondering if it might be playable
i just wanna use it, it looks so cool 😭
Very Hard most likely
i'm pretty sure it would only be possible with highly leveled blocking skills, maxed armor and towershield
That or if you feel lucky you can try using parry - but honestly I don't trust my reflexes for that
oh i wasnt thinking about blocking stuff
aight ill just try it
HHS, flametal
this gonna suck 💯
-50% hp from twitcher pebble inc
Oh I was thinking along the lines of some enemy like Valkyrie lol
and then ill get finished by asksvin charge because i cant get out of the way fast enough because the -%move speed
Those are not pebbles btw 😉
aight surprisingly i can take some hits but man the movement speed sucks
Get the tonic of ratatosk 🙂 with heavy armor Its nearly as good as having 2 fenris pieces
anyone know if sulfur respawn ?
thanks ❤️
how long does it take for an enemy to despawn? do 2 star gjalls despawn after it becomes day and youre far away enough (64m iirc)
Night time spawns should despawn at dawn, other mobs never despawn 🙂
(and afaik stared gjalls can only be nightspawns)
Nightspawn sounds like a good enemy name all by itself 😄
bet it is in some game
Sassy supervillian named Scarlet Nightspawn.
damn wtf flametal HHS on vh is kinda based actually, because i can tank some hits i can take more risks and so fights end up being easier that way. compared to ask SSS where i cant take as much risks and need to find 1 opening
@shy marlin i think we talked about this before
ima try ask again but HHS and compare
ya i normally agree also
aight tbh maybe its just the food
there was a really tiny patch on steam today, any ideas on what it is?
steam doing steam stuff
how long are the christmas event items up for?
does it? all it says is (roughly, the months of December and January).
k nice you must be at a different page then me ty
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Seasonal_Events i was here 🙂
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Mistletoe ye i was lookin at this
Will put the dates there 👍
Is valheim enjoyable in singleplayer?
Yup, it is.
It's intended to be played singleplayer
Is there only fire magic?
No
No. In the first "magical" area you will be able to get frost magic as well.
In the (current) last area you will have "nature" magic and lighting (in a way) as well.
As well as the various blood magicks
You will encounter magic earlier as you are able to use it yourself, though.
would anyone reccomend starting a valheim server like a public one do people really join those?
For new players that are just starting its probably best to start solo actualy 🙂 but if you really want a server then look through #1024264966712340510
Nah, if you're gonna start a server I'd start it for your friends only
It's fairly easy to wreak havoc in an online game like this
oh for someone to like ruin it?
Yeah, all they gotta do is come through with a hammer and they can tear stuff down pretty easily
Yup.
There are a quazillion messages about players grieving "open" multiplayer servers all over the net.
no
oh gotcha thats just too bad
Since Moder is more or less the only boss that truly locks progression, how powerful do yall think one can become before fighting her? Best gear, food meads...
ofc any relevant skill could be 100.
off the top of my head, i think krom and arbalest would still be craftable, other than that, hmmmm....
charred arrows and bolts of course
hey everyone, whats the best way I could farm blackmetal ? Should I build a pit and let the mobs fall into it and kinda do like a "farm" or should I just wipe out villages one by one ?
you can kill fader before killing moder so you could have his forsaken power
but ye krom+arbalest+carapace spear are the big ones
you can also get sap from fish so you could have lingering stam meads, lingering hp mead too
the inability to process black metal very efficiently gates most of the endgame
😔 was hopin ashlands would introduce a way to get smelted black metal
it could've made sequence-breaking much more interesting yea
At maxed skills, the dps from a maxed huntsmans bow with charred arrows is more than double that of a +1 arbalest with charred bolts.
The amunition makes the weapon damage matter less than fire rate.
well yea, bows are always better for dps
crossbows shine at initiating battles due to their high per-shot damage to make better use of backstab shots, combined with longer range
Yeah. Probably want both. I thought it was worth pointing put in this case because one is iron age, the other is Mistlands.
true, that is quite a gap 😅
So we can't have the 'later=better' mindset.
and frostner is already available so that effortlessly covers everything until deep north for melee if you prefer it over other options
i still hate the fact you need to kill elder in order to get frostner
-# yea i don't like any of the boss gates that are accompanied by an already existing material gate around that same boss
Wait, I've been so dumb. I've been thinking silver as post-moder.
like, if you find the bog witch and then go so far off the intended progression path to get silver early, you deserve to be able to make a scythe right then and there imo.
same for frostner if you get silver early and find haldor.
I can't say I dissagree, but I'm not sure my opinion even counts, as I don't think bosses was acctually a good idea for this game.
Or at least not as intended progression halts.
Well, how would you gate procession if there aren't bosses?
Wander the Plains at night. More fulings, and more starred fulings, so more black metal, with less risk than wiping out a village. Though the villages are the fastest way to get it in quantity.
thanks
That is the thing, bosses are fine as an objective, but I don't want progression to be gated.
Get gear--> survive new areas--> get new gear
Meaning that way people will fight Eikthyr with Ashlands (currently) or Deep North (in the future) gear and then complain the bosses are too easy.
I mean, I do find it silly that we group these entities together when some of them are weaker than the minions of the others. Yes, I believe in such a scenario, the bosses could be a bit more equal, and EIkthyr also wouldn't need to be placed right at spawn. It could be anywhere there's a meadow.
That being said, they shouldn't be perfectly equal. It makes sense that the one you find in the most difficult area would also be the most difficult battle.
Also, technically the only boss you actually must fight is Moder. All the other ones can be skipped to progress in the game.
Using the seating glitch to enter crypts or using stagbreaker to find iron. Using the same method to find silver, so both The Elder and Bonemass aren't needed.
You can traverse Mistlands without using the Wisp belt / lanterns and when you're able to hop from one spire to another, it's even possible to reach Fader.
So basically what you want is already there.
Yes, but the game is built intentionally to make this as inconvenient as possible.
It is still gated, it's just that you can dig a tunnel under the wall.
Coincidentally, the areas where progression becomes the least linear is also the parts I enjoy the most.
So?
Ever played an RPG. All progress in that game is locked behind killing a boss.
Same goes for ESO and most likely lots of other MMO's.
The thing is, no-one and I mean absolutely NO-ONE forces you to kill the bosses if you don't want to. I just mentioned how you can skip fighting most of them.
But those bosses are there as a goal for the players to work towards to, to get that feeling of achievement and to make sure they won't be bored after playing this game for 2 days.
And seeing the large number of people playing this game, the majority likes it how the upgrades are locked behind bosses.
But if you don't; feel free to post it in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202312684364910612
But expect to get lots of negative comments for it as well.
Well other bosses also gate gear (by restricting items sold by the traders), its just that Moder gates a lot of gear.
I love doing mountain+plains+mistlands. I just wish that I could use all those resources I find withouth having to kill some random dragon to build a fancy table in order to make my better smelter.
So, create a mod to deal with that.
Problem solved.
Of course, when doing that you miss the entire purpose of the game, but that's not my problem.
To be clear, I am entirely aware that the game is not going to go in my direction on this point. Although I think it perfectly valid to be annoyed at a game having things you enjoy but locking it behind things you don't. Other games I don't enjoy, and the devs have stated they are trying to be different from doing the same thing isn't really relevant.
Mountains to plains is my favourite transition tbh
This is also a bit silly, although to be fair I have considered it.
You could also just dev command dragon tears in
But you can always go back to the mountains post moder lol I plan to make a castle in the mountains
In that case, why not spawn maximum tier Ashlands weapons and armor, as well as setting all your favorite skills at 100?
Would have the same result, imho.
Fair, although it only solves the worst symptom. I think I could probably make them a rare drop for drakes if I just got the tools.
Could do the same for the other bosses. Then go up their stats to make them more equal.
Having every single boss skippable with moder being literally the ONLY exception is pretty fair
My issue is that even when skippable, these skips feel so obviously unintended.
That "sympton" as you call it is the whole foundation of this game.
You are send to Valheim to kill the bosses on behalf of Odin.
So if you go to Ashlands using all the possible cheats and tricks, you bypass what the game was meant for in the first place.
I feel like you aren't really adding to this. Yes. We all get that this is how the game is structured. We're trying to discuss how one could make it work differently.
It’s an easier solution than making a mod
I don’t really get why you want post moder stuff for the mountains tho
Pretty much. Even if you wanted to skip all bosses, literally the entire point of the game is to kill the bosses so you WILL have to kill moder sooner or later
Like the artisan table doesn’t have much use in the mountains afaik
They certainly isn't.
They could've made ashlands boiling waters instant kill for you or the ships but no
Swamp crypt skip is obviously a bug
Because it's a post-mountains work station
Exactly
Shame the blast furnace doesn’t smelt previous ores faster
Coincidentally that’s the latest suggestion in #suggestions
Well being able to smelt them
@azure yacht
My stance is twofold.
- I think the gameplay loop of "new gear--> survive new areas and get new resources-->new gear" is a more satisfying loop than "new gear-->can defeat new boss and get new resources-->new gear" The ability to "skip bosses" already gives away the problem. It skips. It's not "progression as normal except you didn't find that supposedly legendary creature yet".
- I think the current system creates a scenario where it is silly that both Eikthyr and Father are part of "the forsaken" as if that meant anything when random Ashlands enemies are so much more dangerous than Eikthyr.
- The bosses currently work not as an objective for the game, but as an objective for the individual biomes. Beyond mechanically creating a "correct" time to "start a biome" it also creates the impression of a biome being completed. In a way, this lessens the feeling of a truly open world with more and less dangerous areas, and creates an experience which is closer to a set of levels. (Not quite that bad, but still undesirable.)
Aren’t both gameplay loops true tho? You can defeat bonemass with bronze tier snd bf foods tbh
I don't see how statement B is an argument for Statement A.
I do agree that both loops are partially in the game. I just think that that interrupting the former to do the later is a worse experience than focusing entirely on the first loop.
The "new gear-->can defeat new boss" isn't a problem. But I believe bosses should be the final objective, and so even though it's good if some of them could reasonably be checked of early, I would prefer if the core loop wasn't locked behind them.
what happened to the raiseskill command? i cant seem to run it
it still exists. Did you forget to dev first?
dk. Seems likely though. It still works normally for me as of 5s ago.
guess ill ahve to go into a single player world then to do it, oh well
hello i have aproblem my frend host a server and today non of us can log on to that server anyone knows what to do?
You can't run commands on a dedicated server
lame
Only the host can run devcommands, so that's prolly why.
oh so i can run them through my console? its a dedicated server on a machine i own
Maybe? But I'm unsure if you'll be able to use it to raise the skills of the character you're playing.
its not a dedicatet server he just turn on normal server
Camo literally just said their running a dedicated server.
its the valheim server software, not a client
He's talking about his own troubles, not Camo's
yes we cant join on our frneds server but he can join on ours
and i wanna se if some one had simular problems
You could've asked that in the help channel only, instead of posting it in three different channels.
Would've made tracking the question a lot easier.
ok that is right if you know what to do hop on dm and help us ty
And fwiw: if you can't join his server, but he can join yours, he should check the settings of his firewall / anti virus. It's most likely that one that's causing problems.
ok bro ty for help ❤️
For player-based raids - what action actually ... checks the box? Like using Eikthyr as an example, do I start getting Black Forest raids after defeating Eikthyr or is it after I hang his trophy?
I believe its once you defeat the boss
for shits and giggles i was reading through valheims newest reviews. Mistlands tedious? Ashlands death loop? so far i find the mistlands limited visibility fun, in a different way. the enemies are enjoyable but i still havent figured out if i have to bring copper scrap back to smelt, since its in such small amounts. But now im scared of the ashlands. Is it really that bad?
On my first playthrough i neglected to hang the trophies completely and i still got the later raids
and you have/had player-based raids enabled?
i just hung 1 trophy in my entire playthrough but still got some mountain raids. havent gotten anything plains or mistlands related yet though. weird. I keep getting surtling and wolf raids.
You will find all your answers here: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Events
The ashlands is pretty hard not gonna lie, but you can definitely get through it by building up a base and safe locations and being strategic. But you probably will die a lot
bye bye to my skills in the future
although recently ive enabled the casual death penalty (1 level and keep currently equipped items). would that make it any less painful?
its certainly more enjoyable, keeping my main stuff
Yeah thats the only part that sucks, but once you get some ashlands gear (which isnt as hard as some are saying) you will be fine, plus the constant mobbing enemies will help u raise those dkills back up
bows or crossbows? (late mistlands and ashlands)
Yes that will definitely make it far less painful. The worst part of ashlands is dying far away from a portal and having to trek through hell without any gear or inferior gear
arbalest is nice but im not seeing any uses in normal combat, only against the brain bug tick guy, gjall
Depends but i prefer crossbow because of valkyries and also most enemies in thr ashlands are pierce resistant. However if you have high bow skill and the new ashlands bow enchanted with one of the gems you can destroy pretty hard
also, whats the overall gameplay loop of the mistlands? Do i gotta bring copper scrap back to smelt for magic gear? I got the sap and ive unlocked the refinery, but whats the general thing to do? im preetty sure ive found all the main stuff. and i assume the vegvisir is in the dvergr locations
awh hell nah not the valkyries
For Asgard
For Asgard
i am going to delete that (mostly) since its a very game specific joke that has little connection to valheim itself, and just reminded me of the Valkyrie "Gna" bossfight in Muspelheim in God of War Ragnarok
also whats the seeker soldiers weakspot?
Ive found some weakspot numbers randomly but it doesnt seem consistent
It’s their abdomen
Seeker Soldier have no weakness. Seeker Soldiers are Gods. All Hail Seeker Soldiers.
Seeker Soldiers do indeed have weak points, their abdomen.
No need to be blasphemous
Hey! i got a server that me and my friends been playing on for 5 weeks worked perfectly fine, but now all off the sudden my friend disconnects as fast as we go to sea anyone knows how to fix this problem ?
afaik the raids are triggered by the death of the boss not the hanging of the trophy
For the record, posting it in this channel - even if it looks more active - won't help you as much as posting it in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202320491377856512
ahh got it👍
how to plant the ivy?
Use the cultivator, locate a spot of fertile land about 1m away from a high wall and make sure there's only open sky above that spot.
cheers
Oh and make sure you got the seeds. 😄
I was missing the fertile land
Well, good thing you got the cultivator already. Makes making fertile land quite easy.
and is the feast thing just a thing to put dishes on a place?
also does that include meads?
That platter basically works in a similar way as the hammer.
You need to "equip" it and when r-clicking it'll bring up the "building menu" in which you can select which food / mead items in your inventory you will place where.
If those items are feasts, you can still eat from them; however, once eaten from you can't disassemble them anymore.
is a feast a different thing than a regular food?
Yes.
In three ways.
- you can eat it a lot more often from one "meal"
- It's basically a 50/50 when it comes to health and stamina
- The timer it runs at is a lot longer as the common foods.
:o I guess I'll discover how to make them in the future
For instance, the meadows food has a 35/35 point health / stamina balance and lasts for 50 minutes.
So even while you get it a few biomes after the meadows, it's a good food to balance your health and stamina bar.
Disadvantage, because it's having that 50/50 balance, you will trade a bit of either health or stamina the moment you replace a health or stamina food with a feast.
But personally I think running around with 2 health foods and one feast is working very well.
As to discover them, look for a pointy head symbol in the swamp.
If you already got that - and since you meant the food platter, I s'pose you do - you can buy the last ingredient for feasts there as well.
After that's done, you need to build a new workstation to prepare the feast. Prepare the feast on it and you'll be good.
If nothing unlocks while you have that workstation build, just make sure you create one of each food form the previous biomes.
Sometimes you need to unlock feasts by preparing the materials again, even if you got 100's of them in stock already.
do sunken crypts the ones in the swamp ever like respawn?
no
No
damn
ikr
rn i have the iron mace I kileld bonemass finishig up iron armor before snow
is there another g ood weapon for the inbetween snow and swamp I just am bored of the mace and bronze shield
2 handed
Looking for someeone to play valheim with i just startd playing this
#1024264966712340510 is your best bet
For first playthrough it is best to go solo or with 1 or 2 friends 🙂 that way you will learn most and will have the most fun, but if you really want to play with strangers there is #1024264966712340510
my friend who bought me the gamwe dont talk to me anymore lol
It is primarily a single-player game so you can always play on your own 🙂
thats boring to me lol
Best bet is to check out #1024264966712340510 then
if I have iron chest but then bronze for the rest going to snow soon ish should I make any of the root gear?
granted I still go to the swamp for some iron
You can collect the items for it, but considering there's one foe doing fire damage, using the root gear isn't the best choice in the mountains.
It will be in the biome after the mountains, though.
I would suggest full iron, or at the very least iron helmet if you dont want to get too much movement penalty
You should be fine, prioritise upgrading to silver as soon as possible and do your best to avoid enemies
I’ve done it with maxed troll armor before and lvl 1 all iron and both work however it depends on your skill level and how comfortable you are with the mechanics
if im full iron what weapons you reccomend for snow
I did it with bronze mace and buckler and rushed frostner and silver shield
If you’ve found trader go for frostner if not any of the silver tier weapons will work
what about with the iron weapons or root whatever
like for going in there before I have any silver yk
who here plays valheim?
a few of us do.
No one.
Dead game, clearly.

whats /s do
in chat, it's a shout. If you're on a server with other players, anyone on the world can hear you, and it shows a ping to your location.
yea in valhiem which i dont play but why say it in discord
Because it means /sarcasm....
some people can't figure that out.
i mean she even put a cross in the words
What do y'all think is the best way to get money?
Get a job?
Sunken crypts and burial chambers are full of shinies to sell. I don’t know what the best way is, but looting these places will you money pretty fast.
Fair enough
i'll go apply at the valheim version of mcdonalds
Is it so wrong I dream of a meads & beers crossover with Deep Rock Galactic?
I’ll have a McSausage please.
Too bad we don't have some fried, calorie-dense appetizer/side ala fries.
Is the eyescream cauldron broken?
the officially licensed repair shop couldn't make it out for the next 3 months
when i start doing mistlands stuff should i look for a huge mistlands area or is a medium sized one ok? im looking at my map right now planning where to build next
bigger the better to setup a little area to work out of, as you have more chances of dungeons, skulls, and the queen spawn
just put the fries in the bag bro
All the time.
deep north when?
prolly not in 2025
let them take as long as they need to cook, the ashlands were awesome and im sure they have big ideas for the deep north
does weather or time of day have any effect on fishing?
I just tried fishing for the first time so I can make troll potions... I probably should have eaten stam foods haha
why does valheim keep downloading little patches every day, but nothing in the patch notes?
think that's just a steam thing idk
it's only valheim though, wonder what it's doing
Uninstall & reinstall. It shouldn't be doing it
Or verify game files
Are you sure it’s not just backing up save files?
Steam games literally do this all the time.
Doesn't do it all the time for me. When I uninstall and reinstall a game it usually fixes it
Whats there to fix, Whats problematic about it.
Again, nothing out of the ordinary, no need to reinstall.
Then again no need, but if you want it to stop its always a option
It'll achieve nothing, but if it makes you feel better it won't hurt anything.
It does achieve stopping games from downloading small patches whenever you open steam some of the time
It won't. Please stop giving misinformation.
terraria just randomly downloaded 5kb, i don't really care, just a bit annoying to clear all bc ocd
It's not misinfo tho, had it happen on stalker 2 , FTD & 2-4 other games. A uninstall and reinstall did stop it from doing that
And yeah. It does get a little annoying whenever you open steam and there's a tiny patch but no game update to speak of
im fighting yag and getting stomped because stupid tar monsters and mosquitos keep joining the fight.
anyone want to trade me a level 4 frostner for a level 4 silver sword?
I had a save file screw up awhile ago and i ended up losing my silver sword but have 2 frostners
Frostner is gonna be more effective than the sword, especially against growths
Alternatively, could make blackmetal weapons or just spawn in the sword
*if you do end up making blackmetal weapons, frostner will still definitely be better than porcupine
For mosquitoes, swap to the root chest. Fire resist mead will cover the weakness
i beat him
i had a black metal sword that i swapped to for skeeters and fulings
someone else in this discord said the sword is better for him. idk what to believe haha. im just glad i didnt waste time mining silver for one.
Actually they would probably be around the same
I keep forgetting yagluth doesn't have normal skeleton resistances/weaknesses
do wisp fountains need to be spread out? i just placed my three in the middle of my base like fingers jutting out of the ground
dundr is pretty good against charred warriors. that knockback is effective
i reinstall valheim every other time i boot up the game (to clean files and because it's such a quick download that i don't mind) and i still get those micro updates
that's weirder than getting random 32kb updates.
Local Valmart
if i pick up a dverger lantern will they attack me?
I made a cute little kitchen with a serving window like a little cafe shack and called it Vittles of Valheim. Kinda proud of it.
I wish there was an item that increased spawn rate like the blue candle from Terraria
I know about the troll potion. Im not even sure what this one does.
As far as I'm concerned those tiny updates are shader pre-caching.
And to note: you can disable this.
will we be able to see across the ocean in valheim one day?
I
I am pretty sure, I just found the rarest thing I'll ever see in valheim
I encountered 3 leviathans all next to each other, wiki say's it's a 1% chance for one to spawn if conditions are met properly
a double rainbow?
The chance of seeing this is one in a million 💀
To see 3 leviathans side by side by side is a 0.0001% chance <3
I think it's a 50/50
Nope
you either see 3 leviathans, or you don't
Spawning
Leviathans are spawned upon world generation and do not respawn once they have retreated below the depths of the ocean.
They have 1% chance of appearing on each full Ocean zone and require at least 30 meters depth.
you sure that's not old info?
Well that's what is on the wiki
because that doesn't seem like how it is now, that seems like how spawns used to be
Well I mean, I've never seen 3 side by side
i've never seen 3, but i have seen 2
but before the sinking scales/head, i rarely ever found serpents, now they're everywhere
i would guess that somewhere after/on ashlands changed spawns of those
Maybe? Idk I'm just going off of what I know
killed mr ghafa for the first time lol
using 200 wooden arrows + max level draugr fang
took maybe 15 minutes or so
And what chance Is seeing 5 next to each other? 😄
Their spawns were not changed in a very long time afaik
Askvin Breeder is working beautifully, it is a good day. 👌
IF someone has mods,
and uninstalls valheim from steam / xbox game store.
Then re-installs them, the mod files stills lingers in the download directory.
Morgen gjall.
probably why it worked when i uninstalled and reinstalled
same with my friends
i really like when i can go straight to swamp before cutting elder down to get iron
same, i like when games have buggy/exploity stuff like chair to get into crypt. reward for being a veteran/having knowledge about the game
could depend on what mods where done.
but Valheim don't remove the install directory on uninstall
or what the issue was to begin with
maybe it's Smiffe, putting in little love notes to us all through steam every day
MAYBE IT'S MAYBELLINE!
They love to see you shine?
When i woke up this morning i had a sudden craving to build a log cabin in Valheim
Hello fellow vikings. How goes the raiding?
hey do i need many wisp fountains or is 1 enough? just beat Yug
One is in general enough, however, with more you're able to build some of the items requiring wisps a lot faster.
You can get by with 1, but it's a pain if you want to use wisp torches for light. The more you have the less often you need to visit them. And the torn spirits aren't useful for anything else.
Check our #1024264966712340510 , prolly have better luck there
I recommend keeping your wisp fountains in the swamps as there they continually collect wisps
Once i fought a 2 star troll with a finewood bow. Then a 1 star troll survived. Yesterday i saw one again, 2 shot. The damage increase from bronze to mistlands is insane
Hi Smiffe, Montilyet, Will Valheim ever make its way onto Nintendo Switch?
Hello everyone! Do the x-mas decorations stay when the holidays are over? I'm decorating with them a lot
Yes, they just become unbuildable.
So if you destroy them, you can't replace them.
Yep, build with them to your hearts content s you have them everywhere you need until 6th of january 😄 (after that date you will have to wait a year or cheat them in 🙂 )
Thank you ❤️
AFAIK. the nintendo switch is way to underpowered to run valheim when I look at any kind of performance information 🤔
the Xbox one S is very underpowered, and it struggles with Valheim.
Valheim minimum wants 8Gb Ram. Switch has 4Gb.
Valheim minimum 2.6Ghz Quad Processors, Switch has a Dual core 4 thread 2Ghz processor
And so on
and as game developers, you don't want your players to struggle with performance 😦
it's a big let down and it make you sad on the inside
even the "worst" performing console we have atm that supports valheim. is higher performance than the Switch
Maybe Switch 2 🙏
😄
need to see some performance numbers first
and then, I ain't the programmer who have to do all the re-encoding
if switch 2 can run unity based games (and support all the shaders and shadow tracing) then maybe
better to switch out
guys is it considered cheating valheim's fishing if I use a spear fishing mod, because i really hate the current fishing if i actually wanna get anywhere
even stardew valley's spam fishing is more enjoyable
Fish fears him
Why does it matter what WE think on how YOU play YOUR OWN game?
i dont know i like to know the general public's opinion on things. I dont wanna realize too late that i got something way too op more easily than intended. Since its a mixed bag, water refraction, and horrible aim, ending in like 10 arrows/bolts for a single fish, it doesnt feel free but i just dont wanna regret it later
yapper moment
It's irrelevant. If you dislike an aspect of the game for whatever reason mods are literally the best solution and are pretty much the reason of their existence in the first place. That is what they're for
If you're taking other people's opinions:
Valheim fishing is great.
I would rather walk with a Lego permanently stuck in my shoe for the rest of my life than interact with Stardew Valley's fishing system again.
that is a fair opinion
since id still prefer to be good at something vanilla than depend on mods (even though in my current state i way prefer spearfishing in everything except meadows), are there any tips how to get fish to actually bite?
they keep ignoring it, even after waiting forever. rarely do they bite the hook
what i usually do.. get the right bait for the fish i want to catch find a place where there is more then one or two of those.. catch 2 - 3 (depending on how many are thre) and then go find a new spot... it is useless wasting time waiting on the 2 left fish to bite...
usually that workd for me ... just do not try to fish when there are only two fish there 😄 it will take ages...
just got a "she is hot on your tail"
who?
i was expecting a gjall raid since idk, tick mother and fire attacks? but nah just a bunch of 2 star skeletons. ?????????????????
ohhhh the fire skeleton
All the hildir minibosses have raids
Reminder that doing hildirs quests puts you at a mechanical disadvantage
And there’s no way to reverse it 🥲
🤓 just make some base defenses
Or dont return the chests 😄
Spear fishing sounds awesome
the fight wasnt very tough
the plains one might fuck me up once i do it though
but i gotta experience it at one point or another though, no better time to do it than the first playthrough
i should really make a stone wall, im still using the same wood and stakes from the bronze age
It’s worth it, you can make fireworks
For sea serpents to spawn, do I have to be in the ocean or just near it? In the sense that if I am treading water near the coast and my minimap says "meadow", can they still spawn?
Enemy spawns don’t care about what biome you’re in, just the biome at the position they spawn
so the serpent can still spawn if im in the meadow?
serpents don't spawn in meadow waters only in the ocean
so how does enemy spawning work? if they dont despawn, is there a limit to how many of an enemy in an area until another spawns?
Technically yeah, at least if you are near shore and full ocean zone is loaded
a "full" ocean zone?
Yep, there is a limit for each creature iirc in each zone
A zone that is entirely ocean with no other biomes inside
oh... so no rivers
rivers are almost never "ocean"
If it’s wide enough and contains ocean biome, then it’s possible
from what ive seen its all just the biome. Lakes sometimes get big enough
They are never ocean, if it says ocean its not a river
yes.
seakes
this game needs garlic so that we can make garlic bread
It would be, of course, immensely more powerful than bread, and also have a 5% less aggro effect
aka, that viking stinky dont go near it
Since when does bread have aggro effect?
since now?
(and if anything the garlic should give + aggro effect as it is able to be smelled from further away)
ist hier irgendwer deutsch?🇩🇪 #
Only english on this server unfotunately
no no I mean eating garlic bread means you have less aggro
as in you are more chill?
I am german, but on this server only english is spoken to make it manageable for them moderators and helpers to manage the crowd 😄
More seriously, I wish there were more food types doing more things than just stamina/health/mana
Such as?
I dunno, running speed, swimming speed, resistances, spawn rate
I know most of those are covered by meads, but I think it could be fun to have more food variety too
we got meads to help with that and we got skills to help with that ?
are you asking because you dont know or something else?
I agree that i want more different food, because i want them to look pretty on the table. And the questionmark is there as a shorthand to ask you why more food for speed and such... I do very well know what is in the game 😄
I wrote that question before you posted the second part of your message 😄 the joy of text chat 😄
So... either meads should be pointless or we need more food variety to do things we can already do?
Or food variety needs to handle things you have not yet mentioned?
Explain to me why food doing a similar buff to something else makes that else pointless
Because one will be superior to the other by nature.
and naturally you cannot use both, right
If you could, that would push this into a discussion about things being overpowered.
Is the tonic of ratatosk overpowered because theres an armor that gives speed?
If you could double-sip the mead? Yes.
You assume I meant that "speed food" would give 15% too.
ugh... here is the thing... i started a test charakter to try and play on hard and build nice things everywhere with decorations and nice homes and all that... and to that end i did turn up the ressorces to 2x ... and man I do hate it! There is no fun in raiding a burial chamber if you get so much stuff from it that you only need one to satisfy what you need to make what you need to on that level 😦
🙄
Agree.
Listen, we talk about stuff being made obsolete by other stuff while food in this game has this very problem in the first place. Theres like 50 food types and at a give time, theres like a maximum of 4 that are relevant. I wish there were more than 4 foods. I could gladly trade some stamina or health if it meant I could get another buff instead.
But as it stands now, its either I have the best hp food, or I get the second best and theres nothing I get for using the second one.
"I want food variety!"
To what end?
"To do stuff we can already do! But not to the same effect."
Why?
"Because I want it."
How would adding redundancy make the game better in a meaningful enough way to justify developer time and resources?
"Because I want it."
👍
I dont like you
lmao
I mean, he's always like that
Acting reducting to everything I say won't really score points with me
The only way i would want more food would be same stats but different model and recipe.... so you got a choice to make say "boar roast" and "deer stew" but both have the same stats or something along those lines... just to have something pretty to put on the table... but that is just the builder and decorater in me... it does not merit dev-time to make it so...so i am gonna arrange the foods we have nicely and put some fresh fruit with it 😄
Well everyone got his opinion and you are free to say it... but we are not obliged to agree 😄
You can disagree without being disingenuous about it.
you could, but you have to agree that you insisting that you are right does not endear you to everybody either 😄 I do not want to quarrel here.. .but there is truth in what Sevrahn said. There is no good reason to introduce more food that does stuff that is already covered by something else. And makeing more buffs does not exactly help the game be better 😄
You would win a lot more sympathy if you posted something like that food thingy in a "folks, what's your opinion about this idea", instead of acting like a spoiled brat with your "I want food to change like that."
"insisting that you are right"
I am going to turn down those resources... it is no fun with them up... i want to earn my nice homes and decoration instead of getting them for free... we shall see how I fare on hard with normal ressorces hence forth 😄
And 6 weeks from now she turns it back up, because she found only one Dark Core in an invested mine.
Only to end up with 18 from the next mine......... 😄
nah...i will do two more infested mines instead...with my last run i had 30 dark cores in the box after building everything I needed, cause i did so many mines before i set out to kill the queen (not that I needed to.... just procrastinating the fight) 😄
I thought it would help with the building to get more wood and stone and all that jazz... but turns out it is just annoying to get everything double... gonna be felling some more trees instead and hack at some big rock in the mountain for a bit to have enough 😄
A mountain is a big rock.
But I bet you can never level it. 😜
level it and buld a castle there instead... i would not even want to think about the fps you will have if you did that 😄
It's a shame you can't build over the entrance of a Frost Cave.
That would make the ideal "Haunted Dungeon" for a castle.
Even 1.5x messes up cores (of both kinds) because it acts like 2x when picking up something that drops a value of 1.
It is really nice for gathering mushrooms and berries though.
just made it to plains biome with my friend
My favorite!
yeah im so excited for the blast furnace and the better food and stone oven and all of it lol. lox meat pie and stuff
Oh I just love the aesthetics of it.
yup dont get me wrong its peaceful there it looks nice. do u think id be able to make a little base there?
my bases in the plains sure do always get out of hand... big sprawling affairs with lox pens and fields and to many rooms in a manor for a single player 😄 I love plains best of all biomes
I love the plains because its the least laggy of all the biomes
my friend just wants a main base in the meadows but i keep telling him everyone else makes bases in almost every biome
He can make his base wherever he chooses.
That should have no affect on where you make your base.
The statement "...everyone else makes bases in almost every biome." is 100% not true 😄
hmmm. good to know. i thought people did tbh
nah yeah but were kinda playing together so we have to like agree with each other
Well yes plenty of people do 😄 but saying "everyone" is just plainly not true
Unfortunately not me 😄 i am one of those who make the base in meadows xD (but yeah plains bases are certainly cool :))
Says who? 😁
You can play and quest together without living together 🙃
In general the same thing that applies to a base in the Meadows:
Make sure you got good defenses with either a moat or a strong wall or both (plateau works too), make sure it's spawn proof, make sure you got access to a dock for your boat, make the house large enough to add at least twice the amount of workbenches and additional upgrades the forge has because you will need that, make sure you got plenty of farming land, as you can plant and harvest all crops from BF to plains and if you're able to put it at the edge of the Mistlands, do so as you will benefit from that bit of land in the future as well.
Are there any crops that can grow in the Mountains if you have a Shield Generator?
Nope, only firs grow there
hmmmmm i have neither made a moat nor a terrain wall or other strong wall in AGES 😄 Like to live on spawnproved terrain 😄
true. i just like playing with him cuz we have played games together like this for years
thank u so much these r very helpful!
what structures can smoke go through?
Holes.
Modded Valheim Question - pls direct me to the correct channel if theres one for mods
Does anyone know if there's a diagonal cage wall mod? (so I could have for e.g a cage wall roof)
Trying to build the How to train your dragon arena :D
#mods-issues, my bad, not an issue
can smoke go though cage walls?
You can create a chimney if you like.
Make it 6-8 meters high, put 1m wooden beams at the corners of that, connect those and finish the thing with a 45° or 26° roof tip.
If you got iron, you can replace the wooden beams with 1x1m Iron Grates to get the impression it's still solid and open at the same time. And it certainly will help you with a mountain raid event.
ty ty
Just one tip: you may consider to build a somewhat larger chimney if you later plan to add the hearth and more campfires to your "cooking area".
While it's possible to use the hearth only, that and at least 2 campfires are needed for cooking once you get to the point you can craft mead. Which is pretty soon.
Not to mention, you will need room for the oven too.
Which basically means a "kitchen area" will be about 10-12 wide if you don't want to "spoil" your hearth with a cauldron and a mead kettle
You can cook and make meads only on hearth tho
You don't really NEED a chimney, just enough space for the smoke to despawn before it chokes the fire. And you can place cauldron, iron cooking station and mead ketill all on one hearth
So, I have a question to y'all. Both the mistlands and the ashlands have been incredibly controversially received by people. what do y'all think about it and how could one improve those if there is any need for it?
My only issue with mistlands is not being able to see 3 feet in front of me, but that's how it's designed to add challenge, i wouldn't change it.
imo: less aids projectile spam in ashlands and improve forts, they are very simple and lackluster compared to infested mines for example. less cliffs in mistlands, constantly climbing and 0 stamina is not fun
to be honest, my biggest personal gripe with the mistlands is pretty much just the Gjall. I hate no enemy in the game more than this one. I can deal with being swarmed by Seekers but not being bombed from above while I can hardly see em
But yeah I agree. Traversing the mistlands is incredibly annoying here and there
If by "incredibly controversially received" you mean minority of incredibly loud people who just cant handle the brutal exploration and survival game that valheim is designed to be...
That is pretty fair, yes
To be fair, I have had less issue with the ashlands than with the mistlands. Mistlands became pretty bearable once you got the feather cape
i like gjall. it has the effect like the shark in jaws, with its horn. most runs i just avoid fighting it, but thats cool too.. i like having some big scary mob to avoid
I mean, Ashlands were doable solo even in pre-nerf ptb, and thats comming from me who is by no means an exeptional player 😄 (just recently i died 3 times on bonemass while having 900 hours played, it was due to my own stupidity ofc but i digress 🙂 )
to be perfectly honest, the hardest part about ashlands, for me at least, is actually making landfall and securing an outpost
As intended.
It was quite difficult indeed 😄 but equaly as exciting
Ye, once you actually manage to create an outpost, it becomes easier
though I will say that magic somewhat trivializes some of the challenges in the Ashlands. It kind of baffles me that so many bosses have resistance to piercing damage to make sure people don't bow-kite them the entire time but then we have magic
I'm an avid wizard enjoyer plz don't take my magicks
i love my friends all going off in random directions like 2 kilometers away from the portal and dying 7 times....😩
The hardest part of playing with a group in Ashlands no cap. 😂
me and the bois getting chased by thirteen skeletons, three morgen, four askvin and two valkyries
Multiplayer has given mee....two endgame revalations....the queen is so so so easy in multiplayer....and the ashlands is so so much worse in multiplayer.
I tried doing the queen solo in melee with just my greatsword and it...
it wasn't any fun. kept getting swarmed, kept getting pushed away and barely did damage. truly a gitgud moment
Encountered my first 2* morgen in a putrid hole and noped tf outta there. Lol
Agree first part, disagree second part, Ashlands with 2 people or 3 is great, someone can bubble, someone makes sure portal is always up etc, when someone dies near a forttress you're not suddenly alone back at the base, you can often join easily and fast again
High-key, All of my friends are ass.
mood to be honest lmfao
Haven't done greatsword main playthrough yet, maybe I do that after my spear playthough, I always look for change in my playthroughs
zero, synergy.
I would not mind nerfing magic a tiny bit 😉 just a tiny, teeny weeny bit
to even get them to try and do any build so they didn't all have the same heavy armor sword and shield setup was a nightmare 😩
communication is key when doing hard content, been a thing in gaming since the first hard coop games came out decades ago
tbh I'd be more for buffing bows a little bit. I kind of wanted to make a bow playthrough but the fact that your drawing speed is influenced by your bow level is kinda meh.
Not to mention that a lot of bosses are highly resistant to pierce damage, which is kinda an oof if you wanna play spear or atgeir
BOWS?! They are op as is! XD At least against normal mobs 😄
If you're running bread in Ashlands your either a dodge and combat god or lazy / stupid to make better food
doing a bow playthrough rn, with only other weapon being 2h hammers for aoe situations and when I get swarmed. Bow is super OP, does not need a buff, I haven't killed Elder yet and my bowskill is over 60
the only problem is I have to farm so so so many arrows...
....they're just like, in a different dimension mentally or something idk man...
"ohhh i had no idea theres new food again....like there is in every single biome up to this point" type of energy
also when you play together you should not have 3 people with the same weapon / shield and armour combo ince you're in mistlands, someone needs to run at least 1 eitr food for bubble etc
aquire new friends 🤣
Are bow's op? idk it felt super arduous for me to really level them, since you kinda need to fully draw them to benefit from the damage the most
80+ bow is getting very close to being a machine gun
Atm our group is divided into:
Host - Wizard/Mace/Arbalest
Friend 1 - Sword n' Board / Bow
Friend 2 - Atgeir/Spear/Bow
Me - Greatsword/Bow
lmao ikr
Our real challenge atm is that our wizard isn't use to being squishy af as he went from heavy armor to basically no armor
I love hybrid rn for Ashlands, heavy armour HSE food with bubble and vine staff
Aye, getting there's a wee bit a chore tho ngl
queen solo = power attack -> roll her attack -> power attack -> ... , when she spawns seekers, run away and kill them. go back to queen and redo power attack/roll loop
no its not, I m at 60rn and not killed Elder yet, I did not craft any other weapon except the stag ^^
try to fight her at top where there is no mist. when she spawns seekers there u can jump off stairs and get far away from her, seekers will fly to you and so you are separated from queen
how do you level bow so fast?
spam shoot bonemass
just use it as the only weapon against anything at all including skellies who are pierce resistant, havent done any extra farming just a lot of normal combat
build a tree house in one of the indestructable trees, then just spam press shoot on bonemass head from above
indestructible*
ya bow incredibly satisfying
except for the arrow farming haha
2 or 3 stacks are gone in a few minutes
we don't talk about the arrow farming
tru but i up my resource rate so its kinda easier
anyway, I like my magics. Now gimme a bronze greatsword plox
Krom is made with Bronze 😭
Yeah it is
i just hope they do smth to the OP vine staff gameplay
Think they mean bronze tier though
ikr
OP? I haven't been super impressed by the vine staff my friend has been using tbh
vine staff goat don't you dare make them nerf it :/
ya its the most broken weap in the game
I like that you can summon a lot of em though
It's a lil op lol
also Primal Axes goat (prefer over lightning because of 2 star warrior and not hurting dvergr)
Huh... neat
ya when u have vine staff, just dont spend eitr on anything else
They really need to fix that bug 😔
remove everything on castbar except bubble staff and vine staff
I know it is, but I hope for more early game variants of weapons they released later. I'm kinda a fan of being able to play a certain build as early as I can. if you wanna use crossbows, you gotta wait til mistlands for example
I'm currently carrying a primal and storm slayer. Lol
we also only have two battleaxes in the game, for example
One of the things i hope will be in DN are all weapon types 😄
This is fair but at least for axes/swords it's one weapon skill instead of bow/crossbow being two weapon skills
Will need to put catapults on your ship to break down a glacier to get into the deep north
What I did last playthrough, Primal Axes, Vine and bubble staff, also had a bow but only used for Valks mostly. One Health 1 Eitr 1 Stamina food, Flametal Armour, was incredibly survivable!
ye that's what I mean. I understand the lore reason why magic is as late as it is. Because the literal world tree shoots are only in the mistlands. but it's something different for stuff like crossbows
Yeah there is some niceness to that, but if every weapon is available in every biome, you will never change and have incredibly high skill in a weapon maybe a bit too fast, right now you can't main battleaxes until swamp and you probably dont want to use the crystal one in plains mist and ashlands... so have to swap weapons around a bit, which I think the devs might have intended
I suppose that's an interesting thought as well. a little sad though but understandable
never tried green axes. the stun is cool but idk if it procs often enough
Its often enough for me, having a 2 star warrior stunned is so satisfying
ima be honest tho, i dont really enjoy any melee weap outside of mistwalker/frostner in ashlands (on vh)
just the slow is so good
for example with twitchers i can only land 1 hit and then they run away. with mistwalker i can just finish them there
and vs warriors i can keep them at range and just finish them
At least on my slayer it's a 20% proc, idk about other weapons. So in theory 1 out of 5 hits is a lock down. Worth it to me.
Enchantments are the same on all weapons iirc
If that's the case definitely worth it as the berserkir axes are way faster than my sword.
hi good thx. u?
Always stay rested
And only stay out at night if you have to
sleep when its night
For love of gods listen to raven!
im also new haventy played this darn game in at least 2 years... how have things cahnged... \
Hildir’s request, ashlands and the bog witch have all released within that time
They changed quite a lot but the core is still same 😄
oh goody
Actually maybe even mistlands 😄 the were realesed more or less exactly 2 years ago
Oh! I remember that darned place... worst biome by far...
Heh... 😄
Mistlands gang
Depends preson to person
Ashlands and mistlands are both incredible
Mistlands are insanely beautiful if you find place without the fog tho 😄
MISTlands is the WORST you can hardyl see anything... and the boss... oh don't get me started on the boss!
Swamp is my 2nd favorite biome
The boss isn’t great, but not seeing anything is the entire point of the biome
As i said 😄 opinions are very personal
Mountains gang where ya at
mountains are a solid b tier biome ngl
They’re so beautiful
mistlands prolly
and the hungry wolves that come to kill you now and then? Perfect
hf
At day and excluding the optional dungeons, mountains doesn’t have enough enemy variety
i don't think they're completely stupid, i think they're just stupid with video games
I love my peaceful meadows 😄 but other biomes can be/are prettier, i will say that
What other enemy could they possibly add, we got fast ground enemy, big slow tank enemy and a flying enemy
Only meadows has necks though, instant s tier
every single biome is the worst biome in the game
real
I feel anymore enemies in the mountains would be redundant, a trader would be nice tho
lmao
True to the deep north, at least as it is now, its so pecefull 😄
There’s nothing to fight there
but the ice platforms are fun
maybe a nesting larger drake to guard the dragon eggs but I mean
(which is kinda a good thing)
not enough enemy variety in deep north
its perfect
reminder that the only correct way to enter the deep north will be to catapult urself from a mountain into the deep north
Catapult transport system >>> anything else
I honestly can’t wait to finally mess around with them
do people use that without using fly commands to get back, or do they carry portals with them.
anybody have any begninners tips for this game in early game
don't die
Have catapult mats to place at your landing location
always have rested and take your time @left scroll
Always have rested bonus active, place campfires when you run out and mark them for future use
....how tF do you calculate that
distance = rate * time
I will say it again, for the love of gods, LISTEN TO THE RAVEN! xD
I’m not sure I’ve not used catapults yet, I don’t even know how much the mats for a catapult or to place it weigh lol
do you need a forge to place catapult?
workbench
But it uses metal no?
That makes me salty that I need a forge to place dark wood gate, I happen to not have any copper at my new base atm
stone portal is ur friend
Oh yeah stone portal works, catapult to deep north, place a stone portal at landing location and then figure out a way to catapult back lol
(i have gotten so burnt out of the enormous voyages that stone portals are useless cuz i turned portal restrictions off 😶🌫️)
they’re still useful for looking bad ass
Yep, workbench needed
10 wood ezpz
I hope we do get a new wood type and the new trees don’t just drop core wood
It would be sadistic if they didn't have that
and a new stone type cuz theres still room in heavy build
You seem to have quite a weird definition of that word...
I remember the ancient times when I was a noob and didn't appreciate the well rested buff. now I cannot play without it
tease a new tree, doesn't drop a new wood type.
and?
dw precedent tells us deep north will have a new wood type
very cold wood
iiiiiif that happened when i get all excited for it because i like building my anticipation would be shattered
Fine core wood
Deep wood
that almost sounds right
Fine ancient wood
Spruce wood
Fine ancient yggradsil wood
core bark
Morning wood
I wonder if the deep north will have day/night cycles similar to how it works in real life with really long days and nights
Ancient Bark as a building material when? 😭
core ancient fine bark yggdrasil wood dark
ancient bark fences
hi sev
Maple Trees so we can make syrup? 👀
syrup would be cool yea
🥞
dude yea we could have pancakes, irongate this has to happen
Grimmcore has said he wanted pancakes for ashlands
stamina most certainly.
More than likely
sweet/vegetable/grain = stamina, animal product = health.
It should be the feast, ten pancakes stacked up
My mind wants to say stamina but at the same time I never feel like running after pancakes
sugar rush.
Eggs are health, flour is stamina. If the syrup is from an eitr ingredient, this could work.
Magic maple syrup
magical syrup ez
They said they want deep north to be cozy… what’s cozier than pancakes??
aight someones gotta write the suggestion now
But since this suggestion would just be for pancakes and not everything, maybe it’s ok?
Someone also suggested steeper roofs a few below that, that also sounds nice tbh
i think its expectable for it to not be tooooo......ahh.....close to home 😅....it reduces from the fantasy and creative liberty.
French Toast
Valheim gives me north Europe vibes tbh, plains is without a doubt England
i don't think there is anything realistically that is a steeper roof than 45 degrees
It’s not rainy enough
Yeah but we got Fulings here
i was wrong
And highland cows are the loxes
""Most of the time, architects would choose a pitch between 48 and 51 degrees to emphasise the roof and achieve satisfying results. You'll also be surprised to know that architects avoid pitches with 45 degrees, even going as far as calling it the "ugly angle" because it doesn't conform to the Golden Ratio.""
We got ugly roofs in valheim 😦
yeahh
is there a cleanup drops command for lag?
thanks
ur welcome
somehow i managed to forget that i haven't paused the game for 90 minutes, came back dead and somehow nothing is destroyed..
Sackable offense - although you can't be sacked if there's no living being nearby.
welp. You were a great employee
and honestly the only things i see around are necks soo.....its also close to a plains biome
Could a deathsquito have eaten you?
If you’re too far for it to see you directly, maybe it followed some animals?
someone br? want to start new server
Have a look through the #1024264966712340510 channel. I'm sure you'll find some players there
ty
I didn't know 'killall' applied to friendly mobs aswell....thats.....cathartic....
It does. And so does using the letter "K" when having devcommands and debugmode enabled.
You're not the only one falling for that "trap" and I doubt you'll be the last. Still, that doesn't make the loss easier to deal with.
Been there, done that, didn't get the T-shirt.
ah well if you in devcommands already just suffer through it and then spawn whateverfriendoyoulost...
-# well yea, pressing K in debugmode executes that exact command
i'm pretty sure k in debugmode doesn't kill tames anymore
remember seeing it in a patch notes but i could be wrong
Kills enemies and their invisible spawners though. So not to be used lightly.
Ye k in debugmode doesn't kill tames anymore, just checked
thats fine in my base though by the sounds of it 🥴
is thee a modifier that allows me to turn off skill-drain on death
id prefer to keep my levels.
ye can't completely turn it off but you can lower it a lot in world modifiers yes
thank you
Found a really awesome seed with a bajillion swamps for iron, maypool real close and meadows - plains all on large giant starting island
Let's see it
FRZXNqRanv
yea they added another command to do that instead, killtames i think?
i don't know what this talk about this fabled "debugmode" is, all i know is all my bird friends are dead 😾
(yea the thing i was saying was just that debugmode k and killall are literally the same thing, like b for nocost, l for removedrops, z for fly)
Stuff still respawns after though, so it just resets the area.
it doesn't affect the invisible spawners, only the ones you can break with weapons like greydwarf nests and bodypiles
but then again, like 98% of the enemies you encountere aren't spawned by any kind of spawner, but just randomly spawn around you as you move through biomes
almost all invisible spawners are one-time only
i saw something about killing an invisible spawner in like...somewhere in the console idr
lol
why do chickens hatch so faaaast broooooo i have ZERO EGGS
i'm going to fucking.......ughhhhhhhhh....i keep getting too locked in with building and spend like 20 minutes too long without checking on the eggs when they are laid and then hatch instantly and now i have 70 chicks to slaughter.
Make a farm without a fire so the eggs can’t hatch
Smh slaying the younglings is not the jedi way
Is that you anikin?
so who is the winter child?
in all likelyhood, it's just a surviving jotunn
like, the last jotunn
some think loki
loki may be descended from jotunn, but they say his power is distinctly fire
not sure if that matters if asleep in a winter land for centuries or whatever
We dont have the slightest idea apart from the runestones and dreams
The forsaken are jotun.
So that wouldn't really be surprising. They're literally the main bosses
The forsaken are the names of the bosses 🤔
I don't believe we have any Jotun other than the dead ones in mistlands
i got 470 silver
Morgen gjall.
Long ago, the allfather Odin united the worlds. He threw down his foes and cast them into the tenth world, then split the boughs that held their prison to the world-tree, and left it to drift unanchored, a place of exile...
Who are essentially the main enemies of the aesir?
Plenty of beings actually, at one point even vanir who are now allies
I'm sure there is a runestones implying it further
Main enemies
Jotun are certainly not the only foes, and are generally thought of as giants but that doesent necessarily have to be the case, also it only says "foes" not "most hated/main foes" 😄
I have question
Why are this mean to the broom in the bog witches house ::(
I feel bad for the broom
once it was being under attack so i jumped straight to defend it but i killed accidentally (first encouner i didnt even knew i could damage it) and it gave me a trophy
::(
i felt bad indeed
Broom lives matter too 🧹🤘
Would you recommend playing solo for the first playthrough or join in with someone else?
With someone I can join you if you'd like
Give some tips
Play alone first
What shield do y all use? (Tower, round, buckler)
I m big shield fan, tried them all but can't stay with one.
Buckler is so satisfying to stun ennemies with, but quickly gets useless once 3 or more enemies appear
Round in the beginning the tower in end because damg is ridiculous late game
If u wanna play with friends u gotta remember than you won't unlock stuff if your friends picked a key item up and never shared it with you
Ah interesting
You have to all pick up the item at least once to unlock recipes, which can be forgotten and make u waste a lot of time just figuring out xtf you re missing bc your mate forgort to link you up
Say u killed a boss right you should get at least 1 for everyone in the sever
How are recipes forgotten?
There be no use hiding it
They re not, I meant if your guy forgets to share the ressource with you
Ahh fair enough
What platform are u on because that can matter too
How is the replayability on this game? Do you guys keep joining multiple servers?
Depends on the person you play eith
Hmmm okay thanks
Ig round it is for now
I'm on PC, got the game on Steam.
Buckler and strategic terrain use, dodge rolling etc.
It's like MC is replayabled it's random gen with the Same enemys it really depends on you gen
If you like I can play with you if wanna play with someone
Well I'm only 1.5 hours into the game haha, I think I'll join after I get a solid grip into the combat and other mechanics. Thanks. ❤️
All I've done so far is setup a small base, and also die to smoke in the process
I can join u and explain if needed
After exploring most of the north mistlands, i find a vegvisir. Guess what, girlboss queen decided to spawn to the very west of the map, as far away from any of my portals as possible.
Thatll be fun, i guess
Thanks man, I'll hop on a bit later because I gtg rn.
Dw, 100h into the game,I still do that
Let me know
Fking smoke man, always gets ya
Ong bro
Make a chimney
I just took down a part of the roof 💀
If it rains, ur fire ll go out tho
OHHH
That s why the chimney
The rain will get in make a unclosed cover
Nah it s fine lol
Yeah I'll make a roof on top
We where in your shoe once
Now we re in your walls
Do you want a warning or nah
Hm?
It's a bit of a small spoiler but it's helpful nothing about bosses tho
Sure
Whats the best post refined eitr pre magic black forge weapon?
So every 45 minutes or so you have a chance to get jumped by a raid RN it will be just animals
Also there's no recipe for a pickaxe yet?
not yet, follow the birb
U have to fight the first boss to get that
Damn
Isn't it every 25 days?
No.
No it's 47 mins it a random chance
The birb disappears after giving me advice everytime, and I have a marker set for the first boss. He isn't waiting to be followed ig?
U have to get ready to kill the first boss to get the pic
You can re read the advices top right when u open inventory, there s a tab
It also explains every buff/debuff u have currently
Yeah I saw that, nice
Wanna tip rq?
Sure I'll take em lmao
Make sure you stay rested it heals u and and keep ur stamma up but it levels u up 50% faster
Rested shows up while in shelter only?
No that resting u can sit next to a fire for level 1 comfort witch = 8 minutes the more nice your house is the more time u get
Ahh I see
It be easier to explain on call
Yeah I almost died resting in a cave bc of the smoke lol
