I want a double dagger thorfinn build
Is there any Double Knifes or Daggers, not Derek
Skol and Hati, probably count.
Hmm sort of
Then if that's not enough for you, I guess there aren't any.
Maybe deep north gonna bring me some π
Smiffe thinking he's funny again.
Iβm new Derek

π€£ π€£ π€£ π€£
I'm chuckling (in a Valheim related way).
will the real Derek please stand up--we're gonna have a problem here

There's the Derek I remember
does copper still fall?
Yes, but the check for terrain is larger than the model of the ore.
thanks man π
guys my copper wont fall βΉοΈ
You probably need to make more space around the vein. The hitbox is bigger than the model.
theres a floating piece and it LITERALLY has nothing connecting it
See my previous answer.
where can i send screenshots
doesnt look evry close to terrain so idk
βοΈ
π didnt work
Post another screenshot. Could another part of the copper be too close to terrain?
literally 3m gap to everything i just destroyed it lol
Hi, anyone know where I could find the dream texts somewhere in the localfiles ?
I know there're on the Wiki but I would like to see them in french with the good translation
Deleted my save files, cos i was annoyed, then 20 minutes later i come back to play, and now im in the meadows with a torch π
You can load an automatic backup if you ever want those files back
in the manage save files thing?
Yes, they should still be there
Nah, i deleted those too π
I guess my Valheim related question wasnβt Valheim related enough to warrant an answer from anyone. ππ
is there more than 1 bog witch per world? and will she spawn on old worlds not fully explored?
Yes
Yes
is she like super rare to find?
She has multiple locations where she can spawn
gonna load into my server in a bit but only got 2 hrs so going to blitz trying to find her lol
No different to Haldor or Hildir.
So how come the scythe just vanishes when you press "R" i would pressume it would go on ur back like all the other tools
Finally made it to the ashlands!
found a runestone
from what it told me, Fader went to go visit Yagulth and when he returned his thanes has turned against him and something happened to the winter child
What was your question?
The soundtrack has disappeared from YouTube music. I hope it's in the process of being updated?
Pretty sure the only official soundtrack is on Spotify and Steam.
Whether anyone that had game performance issues in Ashlands had noticed an improvment since the last update
I imagine the Unity update will have helped.
I need to make time to get back on and see for myself. But Helldivers 2 has just been too much fun of late...
Humble store too
I'd love to try that, but it's not going to ever appear on GFN.
It was an official album on YTM. Been there for years.
It's been one of my son's favorite things to fall asleep to.
Yeah, I haven't made it to the Ashlands since the update. I restarted my character and world entirely with bog witch
How do I satiate my thirst for valhiem type games
that is hard! have you finished Val?
been playing since legacy
replayed it like 4 times
As far as I can tell there is no other game quite like Valheim.
Agreed!
I havent played since june 11th. Is the bog witch update large? Is it big enough for a replay?
btw, is there anyway to only have 2x on ores? I want to have fun grinding materials and wood but not ores
something that kinda gave a "general" feel was Stardew Valley...but in a round about way
probs Green Hell
green hell looks like survival slop. As a survival fan, it just looks so generic
I haven't played
but it was on my list, it would be sad if it is - have you played The Forest?
I wanna play the forest but my friend is terrified
To be honest, it was a bit creepy in the beginning, but you get used to it.
The AI is different which is nice. The caves are where it gets interesting, but that's where the enemies can be!
I would highly recommend (87.5 hours played)
Im gonna play is soon then prob
Lore Theory:
The betrayal of the Lord of Emerald Fire was the beginning of the end
The Thanes turned and did something horrid to the child of snow, sparking a war between the Ashlands and the Deep North. both were destroyed in the conflict, Yagulth and the Valnir (the people that became the Drauger) stayed out of the conflict but got caught in the crossfire. durring and after this war between ice and fire the Valnir grew in strength, and thought to challenge the Aesir and Vanir, who promptly razed their civilization. Yagulth fought back to protect his people but was shattered in the process and the beast kings withdrew into their realms as the Elder began to grow in power deep in the woods. The Dwarves moved in and began mining the corpses of giants (perhaps left over from the War of Ice and Fire) to process their tissue into refined magic, fighting off the Queen's minions in the process. when the 10th world was severed branches fell from Yggdrasil and seeped into the land, and the dwarves were cut off from the rest of their Kin. They were no longer able to hold off the Seekers and sacrificed most of their numbers to seal the queen in one of their great citadels. then centuries pass and Odin sends his chosen to claim Valheim from the kings of beasts and broken memories of shattered gods.
Ember has a vid explaining the lore of the ashlands if you wanna check that out
Super solid video too
once i kill Fader
If you're lucky enough to get Fader to talk when he's hung up, you'll also some get more lore on him.
Wow are you still not Derek
How close can fire be to wood without burning it up
can i take my early acsess world for bog witch and move it to normal or will it delete
The whole game is in early access.
Make a backup first!
im so excited to play the deep north when it comes out in 2027 /s
Generous date
You know, I like to err on the side of generousity.
I am thinking it comes out around the time of the next elderscrolls game
hello, i want to ask. is crafting in 5x is getting exp for crafting level 5 times more than crafting 1x ?
don't think so no, crafting 5x at once = crafting once
so crafting in 1x to get more exp
It's a feature
is there a reason that a tamed lox is made out of tinfoil
got jumped by like four tar things and they killed it in a comically brief amount of time what the hell
The tar things are no joke
Loxes are a big target and will get shredded by groups
Bruhhh....playing with the portal limitation turned off is some of the most fun i have had in a long time....it already takes so damn long to process metal in the first place...
additionally...frost caves are definitely my favourite out of any dungeon or enemy location in the game....this stuff is the shit
Some guys in here tested it the other day and crafting 5x at once does in fact give you the same as crafting 5 times separately. I haven't tested it myself though
What first weapon should i make from bronze ?
There is no right answer here, but whatever you want to make is a good one
Allright thanks!
Bronze Axe, Cultivator both are great options.
what about a sword ?
All weapons are viable, my last playthru I only used sword
If we are allowed to offer personal opinions: None.
Flint spear and wooden club and then jump to iron mace maybe.
Right...i have encountered a bug it seems....i drank too many potions at once or something and now my character is frozen in the drinking animation and unable to do anything
also moder broke a silver vein or something
ahh out of all the forsaken i feel the least good about slaying moder
the axe is pretty good, a spear maybe for trolls, mace is good for the next biome.
Wood Club -> Iron Mace -> Blackmetal Weapon of Choice
wat
Wat
That is recommended by more than just me.
i mean first bronze weapon
Yes. Answer: None.
I'm confused as to what this means
Weapon progression.
Didn't Slow Mode used to be 10s?
....a club....for the entirety of the black forest and part of the swamp..?..
go gather copper and iron with just a wood club ? i have only 50hours in valheim lmao
yeah im so confused lol
Yes. You can upgrade it.
Rank 4 Wood Club is more than adequate to get you to the Swamp and the Iron Mace.
Only thing you really have to make out of Bronze is the Axe for getting Fine Wood.
It sounds like not only not fun but additionally not effective, ""Adequate"" is a strange focus, Good luck with trolls, This slow mode is molesting my soul.
why not just craft a bronze weapon and a slight upgrade to it ?
Why waste the bronze given the effort and time it takes to acquire it?
(Yeah, I swear Slow was only 10s. Not sure when/why it bumped to 30s)
Man....i don't really care at all lol...if i mine copper 1000% i'm going to be mining out a full vein and getting a bronze weapon is negligible...iron is where its actually expensive and a waste of time.
Uh... we are of exact opposing opinions on both resources.
You get iron by the fucking boatfull.
Good thing at that, Cuz you need it in approximately every recipe in the game, Bronze at some point you need it for uhh....a single fucking sword, and maybe more fermenters.
dont you get copper also with a boat ? (im gonna explode with that 30sec timeout)
π€¦ββοΈ
It used to be 10, which was fine.
I don't get the 30s.
Bottom line: play how you want. Build what you want. I was just offering an opinion.
and i hate finding swamps, rarest fucking biome ass things, least favourite biome π, atleast 7-8 times out of 10 you have a black forest right next to wherever you are.
(Wait till you find out how many people completely skip Iron Armor)
No i get it i was just confused with the wooden club for the swamps and black forest but still thanks for ur opinion
like i said im new to the game and i prefer to progress normaly from leather armor to bronze to iron
It's the same thing as skipping Bronze Weapons. You have better things to spend your resources on.
I didn't skip iron armour because i did not feel like doing it π
allright
Also wait till you hear about this, I crafted every iron weapon and fully upgraded it.
So did I.
I got 1300 iron from 1 Swamp and I do make a fully completed display room in my final base location.
I don't skip anything if i'm doing an actual serious playthrough...
I just go back to build the things I skipped later.
Yeah sure if i was like bloody speedrunning i could see skipping iron this or bronze that or whatever...i just really don't care though...
Imma start my Very Hard Playthru, Fist Only Run π
u know those weekends when u think u can just kick back play video game all day but then life sucker punches u in the face with random deadline for some bs u didn't even see coming
dev command to find the bog withc?
Do you want the devcommand or are you asking if you need devcommand to find her?
Ohoooo made my frist feather cape and got extra ka-ching π now i got a spare one π
Ooooooh, nice π
what a strange feature...its essentially useless when it does that with crafting nails lol...
you can always use the nails for extra armor stands, extra itemstands... i do not mind having an extra stack of nails
who said stack, it gives you 1 extra π₯΄
1 bronze nail is sufficient for one itemstand π
if you get 4 times ka-ching you got an armor stand with the iron nails π I do love the ka-ching π
4 times ka-ching π§
I mean you get free stuff what's not to like ? π
is that a thing, where you can get bonus yields/cook/crafted thing more than one time over?..
Hm? Every time you craft/cook/farm something you have a certain % chance to get a bonus drop
Hey anyone wanna play i wanna a fresh start I've already completed the game once
#1024264966712340510 π
Thank you π
why does the ground levelling thing suck so much
I use mods for the ground leveling and all that stuff
For a plain ground
Good for have additional one in case of corpse runs π€
Hah...have the zip zap maschine running and now am a proud owner of staff of protection... it is a little cumbersome... as the mines i found held only minor amounds of core... only found one fragement so far... gonna be a long time untill i can kill the queen π
So, Brutes with * * are a thing now
what about Serpents?
Fuling berserkers you mean? They have been a thing for a while. serpents, no
no, Brutes.
two starred fuling berserkers sounds wild tho. It's like they don't want us to melee π
You got it. They look like trolls, basically. I don't know what brutes are, though.
greydwarf brute?
Serpents I mean
Nope.
shame

anyone looking for someone to start a new world with vanilla
#1024264966712340510 π
yeah i know. servers arent working for me
If a world boss is beat while playing mulitplayer, does it respawn?
You can summon bosses how many times you want π
Nice, I wanna play multiplayer and Im gonna end up playing with people I dont know. Most of them will prolly be able to play more often than me.
yo i can join
Im not hosting but I am looking for a dedicated server. I'd prefer not to mess with mods
ah i was thinking youd like to join from steam
Now that's pretty lucky
6 Cores from those three π now i got the black forge too π
I got a similar spot in my world with 6 roots and a skull with ribcage and weapons too...that is where my sap portal is. Should i ever need more marble -> there is where i can find it
Always convenient to have many roots near even if you don't have many extractor since you can just easily replace the extractor on a new root once one is dried out
For marble I always just bring 2 iron along with the blackmetal for the extractor so that I can just destroy the building, gets you hundreds of marbles in a minute
I do not want to lugg around so much stuff... if i find something i want to demolish i can always get home and get some iron. My only world modifieris "Metals can be portaled" because i want to go forward not back and forth all the time w ith the metal π
Troll endurance has made it a lot faster and easier to move metals around
I am quite curious how long it can take to finish the game normally but with the ability to teleport metal early, must be quite a bit faster
I do not think that i am faster... i just get more map uncovered π
I don't think it's faster.
It's more a matter of a different kind of efficiency.
Thorin!!!! Long time no see... how are you my friend?
Iβm enjoying the big witch update. But Iβm wondering if having the broom π§Ή killing things and dropping items like entrails has reduced the difficulty /grind too much when it comes to making sausages idk. Cuz now everytime I teleport over there is always free entrails
Been too busy with work lately. But still recording this game. π
good to hear you are still at it... tell me about busy ... π
wait till you get to the frostcaves... sooooo much entrails... you never be able to eat al those sausages... the bog witch got nothing to do with that π those few you find there (i never found any)... will not be what makes your gamie easier
I always get free entrails on the ground when I teleport over.
What actually reduced the difficulty/grind is the feasts
I havenβt tried a feast yet
i only use them if i plan a looooong boat trip so i do not arrive at a new location with 25 HP (i never carry food)
I spent up big at the witch though just gotta get around to crafting tmr
Well at least that's better than 25 hp, seems overly risky as dying after a boat trip is always by far the most inconvenient and punishing time to die
To explain:
There are basically 4 ways to deal with metals.
- Mine and smelt them at the same area. Transport them back home by boat.
- Mine and smelt them at the same area and use a portal to get home.
- Mine the ores and teleport them home to smelt them there.
- Mine the ores and use the boat to teleport them. The only question is, are you going to transport a full ship load or just a little bit.
Personally I prefer the fourth option; making sure I got enough bronze and tin to produce the bronze nails for a Karve, then use the 4 stacks I can put in the Karve as well as what my character can carry to get the metals home.
Once I got the longship, I simply mine enough materials to make sure I'm able to transport the 18+ stacks of metal by boat.
The sailing trip may be slow, but when you got a portal nearby, mining, returning to your base for other stuff (like rested bonus), then portalling to the mining area again works quite well for me.
(Edit: I had forgotton about one option)
there is a trumpet boy somewhere here but i can not find it π¦ meh... no bile bag for me than ... gonna go on a boat trip to find new mist π
Just teleporting it will always be faster though, I avoid transporting metal as often as I can by just smelting and crafting the gear I need on location. Like iron nails, pickaxe, etc. in the swamp and then filling a longship with iron to sail towards the endgame base
I don't move metal back to a starter base, I move it forward to the final base where I will actually use it essentially
I just portal to places to grind then take my ship over when Iβve got a decent amount to sail back home with
The reason why I prefer to transport larger amounts by boat over processing it at the spot, is that you also need to bring the other materials for a forge and it's additions to actually work with the things. Not to mention the mats needed for the kiln and smelter.
What I usually do is activate the smelter and the kiln, spend my time outside my main base, return just before or just after my rested bonus runs out, pick all my items up, reload the kiln and smelter with the items needed for production, go to sleep. Rinse and repeat the next day.
Which means I'm able to do two smelting actions a day which - for me anyway - is enough to deal with the requirement of metals needed.
It's also a very efficient way to deal with over 1K iron scraps because I made a checking error a while ago. π
The big advantage of smelting on the spot for iron in particular is that you can get nails right away so the first boat trip can be so much bigger. You also can make an iron pickaxe right away that you will need anyway, which will greatly speed up mining the rest of the iron. Just saves you a dozen hours by just bringing 6 copper to the swamp with you
It's even more useful now with the bog witch for obvious reasons
Hm...the Queen is not very far from my Mainbase...convenient gonna go there where the queen is there is mist π
3 antler pickaxes and a workbench under a roof work well too.
Yes, I'm aware I will loose 3 inventory slots because of that, but it helps speeding up the mining.
And for those using a longboat, the cargo hold can hold 18 stacks. If you do things right you can move another 2 stacks in your inventory. So that's two of the first chests in that swamp base, which will make things quite easy.
Iron pickaxe just speed up the mining because you do triple the damage
But as said earlier;
There are four different ways to deal with metals - and in a way wood and stone / marble / grausten too - and the method one player finds very efficient may be considered a cumbersome way by another player.
That's one of the good things of this game, as it makes game play different.
You forgot the most efficient one using vanilla setting, especially useful for the copper and tin, using a cart
Also, not only does the iron pickaxe do triple the damage but it's 2.5x durability will make is so that single pickaxe not only mine faster, you can also mine at least twice as many scrap piles with 1 single pickaxe than you can with 3 antler pickaxe
Love carts, useful for silver as well.
Theyβre useful for anything you need to move down a mountain
Load it up, push it off a cliff and just pick up the pieces at the bottom. π
sailing right on the edge of the red waters of ashland..need to get to the other side of this mist to reach the queen island π
The waters red in the Ashlands? Knew it was boiling but good to know there's a visual difference
Tip from personal experience: if you ever head to Ashlands, set up an outpost close to it and build the Drakar over there. Will save you a lot of travelling time. π
How would you sail with 2 stacks of iron scrap? Once you are overencumbered you cant access the rudder π€
i always do..the drakkar is sooooo unwieldy and feels slow
troll endurance mead I assume
oh, true, forgot about that, you could also maybe utilize corpse run
hmm, tho even with mead you will still be only able to get nearly 2 stacks (59 scrap), since Megingjord weighs 2 units itself, and with carry weight of exactly 600 you cant really take whole 60
Troll endurance is +250 for 5 minutes and they are pretty easy to make so it could easily be used to sail an extra stack or so but there's many times where they are very useful
wait 250? i thought 150 π
Good thing i ate feast before sailing arrived on site wit 145 HP and there was a Troll, a burial chamber AND a greydwarf spawner...that would have been lethal coming there with 25 hP
Don't think I've seen that mead yet, was fairly sure I bought everything the witch had.
Yeah. I made that mistake last week when looking for the Bog witch.
Arrived, hadn't eaten yet and ran into a troll and a Greydwarf spawner - including the brute - so had to run for my life, eat in between, hope to get the HP and stamina going up asap so I could deal with all of them.
Most terrififying 3 minutes I've had in this game for some time. π
Do you have any troll fish?
A couple of the meads require some biome specific fishes to make
Ahhh no, j don't particularly fish. I knew of the swim speed one since we just had perch on hand. That explains it, thank you.
Gonna have to tell our fisherman to get to it, what a slacker. Lol.
now there are decisions to make... what first? as of now i do only have the staff of protection and the feathercape... i find it most difficult to decide what i want to have π (i want it all and prioritzing is not my strong suit) π frost staff or embers staff... hmmmmmmm
I would make the ember one π
Frost staff is like a machine gun, doing lots of smaller damage, but slows movement over time as well.
Embers is like the rocket launcher: doing a large amount of damage, and there are not that much opponents that can actually resist it.
I'd say ember, it's unmatched to hunt hares which you probably need for the armor and maybe jumping potions and it will do fine even agaisn't single targets
hey I want to make a automatic boar and wolfs breeder for 1 star boars and I hope to find 2 star wolf. Do you have any builds with pufferfish killing chamber?
nah... i do not need the jumping potions...dead weight I carried one for a few days always forgot to uses it ended up leaving it at home on a shelve... embers deals damage to many ... where as frost is a machine gun...so embers it is
and then... hm... maybe a new shield π
hey little question if anybody can help me with that it will be grate.
why i cant found the witch on my world
hey guys, question, i joined this server caled HypeVH, i had 60hp and died from nothing, then my base was destroyed, what the fuck just happened?
You need to search in swamps that were not generated before π
and preety far from spawn
i was killing some boars and farming trees, ive got a clip, NOTHING touched me, i dont have the clip of it being destroyed but i do of me collecting everything
o ok thats why
You should probably ask the guys you were playing on the server with π€·ββοΈ
oh and the carapace spear
ffs, server owner not responding to dms and the guy in the game is not responding either, sketchy i spent 2 hours on this π
iirc she must be at least around 3000m from center
i know a website where you put your world ip inside and they are telling you where everything is but when i go to the location of one of the bog witch i cannot found it
I has not been updated yet probably π
Imo, don't join random servers that you don't know anyone on. Either stick to playing with friends or solo.
Every game is going to have griefers and trolls. Especially survival games.
i guess
true, but aint got no friends that play valheim and solo just sucks its depressing π€·ββοΈ
or try to use valheim world generator and insted of puttiong your seed paste your save files taht will be the most accourate option
I found the bog witch in my came in a range between that of the closest Haldor and closest Hildir. Which - biome wise - does make sense too.
anyone have maybe a link with a good build?
Ha! The https://valheim-map.world/ actually is updated for the witch π
thanks
yep as I said paste your save files not the seed there is a disclaimer on the site how ot do it
how can i paste my files lol
im gonne try to figure it out
I droped you a tutorial on pv
thanks
The site explains it. Click at Download map and the rest is explained by itself.
will a troll i trapped in a pit despawn??
the only way an enemy can despawn is if it spawned from a special nightspawn condition or from an invasion.
so unless it's an invasion troll, it can't despawn. (trolls have no special nightspawn conditions)
lets go
now we are talking my chicken breeder is working ... (only breeder i will ever make)... and i got a carapace spear 115 pierce damage... holy moly... π happy little camper here
can someone tell me why when i try to found my files for my world i can only found one thing( steam auto cloud vdf ) ? and not my fwl and db ?
Your worlds are in the cloud.
and i can i have acces to it ?
If you press the Move to Local button, that will move it to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local (for worlds) and %USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\characterss_local
If you go to Manage Saves you can move them to local storage.
Oh yeah - lol I skipped a couple steps
Lol, between us we got there.
Are there other states of Derek like anti-Derek?
i did all the step of the video but when i click on world i can only see steam auto cloud vdf and not my worl files with the right thing
maybe even Derek the conquerer ???
aren't dvergrs just minecraft pillagers
wow... while i was starting all from the beginning i have nearly forgotten how powerfull that staff of embers is π
5 seekers at once and i am unharmed
weirdly similar. difference is that they are being "raided" and that they are usig magic and are peaceful
the spawnrates in the ashlands are bullshit
XD if you think this is bad then you would have "loved" the ptb ashlands
Nah those were fun. π
I mean, the moment you set a foot on the land, it was cut off and you were cut up in the process as well.
That is, if a Vulture or Bonemaw didn't get you first.
Nowadays you can take at least 4 steps before you're killed. π€£
Just spent 3 in game days painstakingly killing everything in that mine, including a ** seeker.. just to find a gran total of 1 core and some coin and mead π¦ oh well.. you win some you loose some... at least nothing killed me π
and i have to say it is a pitty that the new meads do not glow as nicely as some of the others π
the more i wander the more i understand why Munin told me to prepare for war
My first attempt at Ashlands - I had a chain of ... 4 portals, I think? I made little Grausten shacks on the spires as I made my way through. I didn't wanna get stuck having to make an epic journey back if I died.
Note to self, you cant really stagger 1 star trolls with lvl 1 bronze atgeir very well... xD
any hints to getting floating copper to burst?
Give it way more space, dig whatever part of ground is closes to it
I have sky high individual pieces that won't burst
I Can do it 100% reliably with silver :/
ok a dozen or so just burst, but a lot are still floating #screenshots
Yeah, copper is just little peculiar, it has very large hitboxes that dont align with what you see
is Atgeir slash only?
Pierce only
so yellow dmg on trolls?
is the big swing not slash?
primary and secondary attacks are always the same damage types, just what's listed in the tooltip
Can core wood stabilize stone floors?
No.
if they're blue and directly under, iirc yea, but any less than that and it won't work
they're blue but the stone floor I put them under stayed deep red
sounds about right
Because it's a thick af piece of stone.
Only thing stabilizing that is other pieces of stone or metal.
I don't believe in statics. But that doesn't seem to help
Also Smiffe plz... why is slow not 10s anymore? π
probably because the bog witch update just came out
it's sad people are so spammy this even has to be put in. Just go to twitch :/
so best I just put a stone pillar under my floor to reinforce it
i'd say i haven't noticed many attempts at spam but i haven't exactly been watching very close lately π
yeah a double stone pillar turned the center green
doesn't work with 2m logs, but 1m is just enough to keep it at deep red.
Nice hat.
uh, 4m and 2m, not 2m and 1m
thank you~
another day, another 1000 stones turned into real estate
shame only helpers can post images in here :/
how do i find the center edge of a 1x1?
Use a door, they have 0.5 and 0.25m snap points
thank you
just launched my shield out of a catapult why is this even a featureπ―
it's a bug in the known issues list
Did you drop it in the catapult? Lol
yup shield gone
RIP, jump in and go after it.
no they break upon impact
yeah, the items are gone gone
also does anyone actually get any good use out of tamed rideable animals like lox any time ive ever had them they get killed insanely quickly because they cant defend themself and healing them is like insanely slow
plus them getting sneak attacked all the time while riding
If your definition of "good use" is solely combat-related, that may be why you aren't getting what you want.
no i never use them for combat its just that whenever im trying to move them or ride them anywhere they end up getting killed because theyre extremely difficult to keep alive
or they end up wandering off and attacking a random group of monsters and dying while im away
im also playing on easy difficulty its insane how easily these things die on the lowest combat settings
ive spent 30 minutes taming an animal just for it to get killed whenever theres more than 1 enemy around
which is especially difficult in the plains with deathsquitos everywhere or ashlands
oh or stamina regen why does their stamina regenerate so slowwwwwwwwwww
I think if your riding skill is higher they have more stamina or it recovers faster
Itβs faster if theyβre fed
yeah i keep them fed but it still takes so freakin long
Anyone want to play
Anyone knows where can I find some suggestion or ideas about how to make a nice house ?
Yt cool valheim house ideas
quick question, what biome is the bog witch found at
Quick answer, swamp.
thx
Im not sure about this, but I think tames are inversely affected by difficulty settings. They actually get weaker with lower and stronger with higher difficulty.
i didnt actually know they get affected but i meant that as all the enemies are on easy mode and the tame is still insanely weak
but that do make sense
offensively, their attacks get weaker, but healthwise they are unchanged so they can survive more hits from enemies
Damn... 1st time in my playtime a Draugr archer shot at me and hit turnip seeds that I was going to collect...
Huh, luckily found 2 seed-turnips just a bit later.
Does anyone know how get the update that just came out for xbox my xbox doesnt recognize an update for valheim and i really want to play but the inventory bug sucks
First swamp pretty unlucky, no Crypts so far.. But got 2 Aboms and now I have Root Harnesk. And now I'm sure I can parry them with my Buckler in Hard preset mode.
Are you in the public test or stable release? The fix has only been released on the stable release, public test is the previous version.
The controller is still buggy even after the hotfix
I havenβt played much since the fix, whatβs still broken?
Inventory is still jank, and renaming portals is an experience, had 4 people tell me that that are currently on the version with the supposed hotfix
Also not to mention the invisible wall/stutter bug is still prevalent π maybe just maybe bog witch should've beein the ptb longer, what happened to when it's ready?
Cant talk about controler issues since i dont use one, but i have not experienced the invisible wall bug even once, not in ptb and not in last few days after the hotfix
I personally experience it every 15 minutes or so
Interesting, i was playing for quite a long time yesterday and today and nothing
I love Valheim
As we all do π
If we could marry videogames, I'd marry valheim
The servers do be kinda wack sometimes
Overall, 10/10 game
Oh well, as valheim does not have any official public servers you can hardly blame it for stuff on servers π
The fun makes up for it
I love killing silly little tree people
Does valheim have mod support?
not official, but there are mods
I want a tamed wolf mod
Just tame em like normal?
You can tame them...
Didn't know you could tame them
is there a mod that makes so instead of having to make two portals with the same name and only being able to teleport through one another, you can make any amount of teleporters and teleport to any by choosing when interacting with the portal, or something close to this..?
Hope all the valheimians are having a great day
Ye
#mods-discussion π
Just dog a hole with sheer sides that they cant get out of. Build some roof tiles you can easily jump onto then trick a wolf into following you into pit and jump out. Then toss meat into hole and wait till its tamed. Cant alert the wolf when it's in hole tho, gotta sneak around it. You know it's working when you see yellow hearts above its head. Takes a couple days in game iirc
And if you wait till night you have the chance of finding 1 or 2 star wolves
1 more tip. If you breed a no star with a 1 star, the offspring have a chance of birthing a 2 star. Kill the no star then breed the 2 2 stars
You can only have offspring that are equal to the level of either parent, chosen at random
0* and 1* cannot have a 2* baby
Is that why I am not as smart as my mother? π
what is the smallest hole that smoke from a single campfire can be vented out through? 1x1 metres? 2x2?
Ye, a 1 star with a no star can only produce up to a 1 star. Typed that wrong
2x2 is a safe bet, not sure about 1x1
1 star troll π§
Wait till you see a 2 star
Tamed boars always try to get back to their lore stone, right?
My current solution: Build their pen around the lore stone π
Only if he was originaly from a runestone π
Both of these 1-stars are.
Thinking of boars, has anyone noticed 1 or 2 star boars got rarer? I've been in my current world for weeks and havent seen any
they spawn only at certain distance from spawn
I'm on my first new seed ever (Winter gave it to me).
And I found a stone that had 2x one-stars near it.
And I took a lot of patience and time to slowly enclose them vs. my normal "have them chase me" method.
I'm based faaaaar away from spawn
Only the OGs, don't think their spawn have the same rules.
Has anyone ever done a "no sleep" run?
probably not but it wouldn't be hard
this is what i did basically. tame them there, make babies there, take offspring back to main base. leave stone tames as backup
Brand new seed, I have no idea where main base will even be. So I will probably be here for a good while.
Do we have a library of the "spawned buildings" in the Meadows?
I did 2 full playthrough with no death and no sleep, not intentionally, just because I never sleep in the game
am i the only one that keeps accidentally drinking potions
I fat finger them all the time on my gaming mouse when they are on the hotkeys π
Why sleep? Night time has the most monsters to collect resources/level skills
Sleeping skips time for smelting, fermenting and farming. Sleep at noon to skip the most time
Smelting/Fermenting/Farming happens while you are out exploring tho
But I want my new weapon/food/mead now
Okay Veruca Salt π
Yeah but usually I come back with several hundred things to be processed.
And I don't want to go back out until I have the upgrades those will provide.
just go for the 12 smelters strat
why not 24
Only 24?
Twice as fast you are right, just do multiple of 3s though, anything else is just not it
Multiples of 5.
Metal stack to 30, that's why you want multiple of 3s
Coal stacks to 50, that's why you want multiples of 5.
Have a multiple of 5 kilns and 3 smelters then, once you have enough surtling cores
math is not that hard
Kilns are technically obsolete now that you can just burn Wood Stacks.
Doesnβt that only work with fire enabled or in ashlands?
you can even do 5 stack of coal for the 12 smelters but I just take 4 stack and 40 and 4 stack of metal
5 Smelters = 100 Coal = 2 Stacks of Coal
Yes, math is not hard.
Why not 48 ???
96
48? Thatβs it?
Try my 480 smelters instead!
aight try 6.022*10^23 smelters.
Let's just all agree on 15 so it's both a multiple of 3 and 5 and call it a day
I still think 12 is optimal since you have just enough stamina to fill all of them up and you need only 8 inventory space, 15 needing 11 inventory is a lot and you'd run out of stamina
Let's just all agree that there is no one way. π
no my way is objectively the best way and all other methods are fringe viable !!!!
(I just use one kiln and one smelter π₯²)
How many burial chambers for 6.022*10^23 smelters?
what's the expected amount of cores from a chamber?
Not enough
3-5 with my luck?
Multiple worlds easy
For those who don't read well in-between lines, my whole point was that it's wise to build extra temporary smelters for those time where you have a lot of metal to smelt instead of taking a couple hours using your few smelters as you probably have the material to make them anyway
Yeah, when i get boat full of iron home i just make those 10-12 smelters, load them with coal and then go to town with iron π
Multiple worlds or one surtling spawner
ah ye true
Can the Dev's please explain why they made the Morgen so goddamn annoying
that this is the single reason i have to build my ashlands fortification out on the rocks in the Ocean and have to be careful as hell around my portals since it can topple my towers just with its weird attack patterns
Trolls do the same thing in terms of absolute base destruction.
Also Morgen are a good enemy.
Annoying, but can be dealt with once you learn them.
If you fight them in melee they can't even roll.
230 stamina with a L1 Nidhogg and a L1 flametal sheild and i can only block and attack 10 times, dealing less than 1/10th of its health in total
What's your actual food if we're getting into the numbers?
IDR what i was using at the time but i had 230 stamina, was on my 7th try in a corpserun
anyone know if the cooking skill is meant to work for regular crafting too? Just got 2 harpoons from crafting 1
Blocking is much more about Health than it is Stamina btw.
Also, Mistwalker is better until you acquire Lightning Hogg.
how so?
Block sheet is pinned in this channel.
Will the bog witch spawn in a swamp ive already discovered pre-update?
No.
There is a crafting skill, same type of thing; chance at an extra item per craft.
Does anyone know of a good fish trap type of build so I can get fish without fishing in the early game?
I donβt think they generally work well
crap..........
guys...how tf do you pronounce moder anyways
It would be pretty much this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qzZgjW64J3g
its how to pronounce Modir but im pretty sure its supposed to be that
Just encountered our first 2* seeker soldier, my daughter and i met the grim reaper shortly after π
My son came to save us, gotta love having multiple kids, always one to rescue you, Dad ain't the hero here
is it just me or is yagluth insanely easy. i mightve overprepped for him though
Which boss would you say is "hard"?
moder simply because of her movement and hitboxes (and the frost beam or whatever which does a lot of damage). yagluth is large, slow, and his arena has pillars to hide behind. also he has like two attacks so π€·ββοΈ
He has 3.
i guess ive never had him do the third. ive only had the raining meteors and blue explosion, what's the last one?
Fire AoE Hand Slam
Laser Breath
Meteors
ohh laser breath i forgot about that one, he did that too but my shield basically nullified it
#screenshots message my prep
im really thinking i overprepped, or that playing around the pillars made him really simple, because he was far more straightforward than how a lot of people made him out to be. at least he doesnt have a massive health pool or it wouldve been a slog
Swamp feels so much safer than before xD
weird, didnt feel like it
If your skills are higher and especially if you're using Silver Sword you will inherently do more damage,.
Yag is easy until it goes horribly wrong
easiness isn't difficult until it becomes so
lose your patience, lose track of your health, forget to drink a mead, and youβre (justifiably) dead
do yall usually use medium stamina or lingering
i dont use lingering cause i feel its just worse tasty mead i feel like i like getting my bar back instantly
I prefer lingering, regular stamina meads never seem that useful to me because I can just dodge and wait for my stamina to regen
isnt it only 25% extra regen ? or is it 50%
idk maybe im weird ive had my ass saved by a full bar so many times tho
25%, but over the 5 minutes that will get a lot of stamina
that is true
Why is Tasty not mentioned?
i followed up
Lingering doesn't block Tasty.
Which is another reason Tasty is the best mead in the game.
And the effects of both stack.
Ik, it does cancel medium stamina tho
Lingering = general use.
Lingering + Tasty = high stamina needs such as combat.
Tasty is better than Stamina Pots so this is a non-issue, given you should be carrying Tasty instead anyway.
i carry both lol
If you're going to burn 2 slots on stamina pots it should be Lingering + Tasty.
i dont notice too much from lingering personally, hence why ive said i prefer getting my bar back when i think im in trouble, i usually manage my stamina fine cause you can kite almost everything just walking, lol
Lingering stacks with Rested bonus to make resource-gathering a lot easier.
TRUE ill give you that i use that shit anytime i go out to cut trees or sumn
Ill try using lingering more in fights but i havent noticed it helping me too much since i avoid sprinting anyways
Lingering + Rested + Tasty is insane regen allowing you to fully burn your stamina bar in combat knowing it will regen completely in the space of 1-2 dodge rolls.
i like the lingering health as well but not for boss fights
That is the mead that sucks tbh.
i like to drink one when im doing stuff just so i heal faster away from home =D
If you eat the top HHH combo (which you shouldn't) the maximum effect of Lingering Health is +4.5 healing.
And it blocks normal health pots, which Major Healing does 12.5 per tick.
I think the main problem of lingering health is that it gets wasted when youβre at full health and over the five minute duration, youβre likely going to be at full health for some/most of the effect.
If it didn't block normal health pots it would have a lot more credence.
Also the fact it maxes out at 4.5 per tick, which immediately starts going down as your food starts wearing off.
So you won't even maintain 4.5 that long.
hi. havent been keeping up with the news and goings on. i am wondering when the next large biome update will come out? i have stopped at mistlands and not gone further, would like to play again when they are all done. any ETA when roughly this will happen?
Not even a remote hypothesis of a guestimate about ETAs is available.
The most accurate answer is "when it is ready."
am guessing the north snow area will be the last and this will be valheim 1.0?
Ashlands hasn't been out that long, come on.
It indeed will be the final biome π
No
I just upgraded my Root Harnesk in my new playthrough and it consumed no materials. Does crafting skill affect to that too?
I mean, I won't complain now that I have 3 quality Harnesk. π
Probably a bug
I had that happen just now too while upgrading my staff of embers... i did collect all of the stuff to the t and it did not get consumed
itβs funny how the root harnesk is called that when thatβs what all the armours can be called (harnesk/harness)
Okay so someone else has had that too.
gonna keep an eye on that... i will have to do some more updating and will see if it happens again
Great way to save Iron when I get into that if that is the case.
The duplicate crafting is sometimes funny tho. Like I would have needed extra Bronze helmet.
I got an extra feather cape with that π i am not complaining π
I remember that π I also got extra Carapace Buckler in my other world.
Getting duplicate Spear would be very useful, other for throwing and other for melee combat.
people weren't wrong when they said the ashlands is a warzone haha
anyone got any tips? We tried to build a portal but the amount of enemies is just too much.
Build a base on the spiky outcroppings in the water
That's the safest place to set up shop
After that, it's just to be careful and don't take on big fights if you see you have too many enemies to deal with at once.
Valkaries and morgens combines with asksvins or charred is a big no no - especially if you have more than 1
But how do we get to the ashlands then?
Build close to the shore - there are multiple outcroppings that will have small clusters closer to the shore, while still being far enough out that mobs won't target you
vultures are still a problem and serpents can target you if you build to low on the spike, but it's normally the safest place to start
There is another place that makes an excellent more permanent base, but no spoilers
Yello
Okay thanks, this really helps!
@austere rapids To make sure you have a foothold and a backup in the ashland I recommend just setting up a portal where you land, make sure you kill anything around (It will be easy if it's daytime at night there's a ton of enemies) then just run a good bit away and setup another portal there
As always, there's no reason to setup any defense around a portal, just leave a workbench and a portal and as long as you don't render that area it will always be safe
Maybe we just got unlucky that we landed next to two chard spawners
Enemies don't attack it?!
Yeah that is a no no for starting in the ashlands π
Try somewhere else
They will when you are around but as long as you make sure you kill the enemies before entering it and leaving it, it will be fine, you also need to consider fire in the ashland though but it's not an issue either if you are not near
Fire? I'm getting spoiled too much π
Well that one shouldn't be a spoiler though, before you can enter the ashland you get the ability to craft a shield generator to protect your wooden structure in the ashlands from the fire
Back in the mistlands: The undead army marches...
Welcome party!
is taking fire res in ashlands mandatory?
Yes
I am not going to elaborate on the number of times I caught fire and didn't have fire res on me
No, unless a blob or vakyrie is coming at you
Just keep some on you so that you aren't caught unawares
ill probably still be taking some since logically ashlands is well h e l l
Oh yeah you want to have them on you at all time, you just don't need to use it untill you encounter one of those enemies that does fire damage
do portals suffer from fire damage?
They do and good luck making a new portal with 20 coal instead of 20 finewood
yikes!
i was gonna play today but it looks like my controller canβt do inventory
did anyone else encounter this
Which weapon(s) is best for plains + into mistlands?
All of the blackmetal weapons work well in plains and mistlands. I like the atgeir and porcupine. For Yagluth, use a silver sword or frostner because heβs neutral to spirit damage.
At that stages you have every types of weapons available so whichever you prefer to use will work
Frostner for mistlands
Does the Witch spawn in an already explored Swamp? Or it must be in a new terrain?
Must be new π
Unexplored Swamps.
K, thx
Haven't summoned bone boy yet. But yall said you can farm bow off of him. Do you just build a tower? Wouldn't a boss just explode a tower trying to get to you?
bonemass doesn't have any ranged attacks, and the bigger trees in the swamps are completely unbreakable
There's always one or two of those unbreakable trees near its spawn. Just memorize where they are and you can use those as a platform. If you don't feel safe enough to stand on the tree alone, build yourself some wooden platform with the 1x2 wooden walls to preventing you from falling off.
Just be aware that the summoned skelletons and blobs will be able to enter that tree if it's having a direct connection to the ground.
Meaning you will have to destroy them as well before they're able to destroy your defensive position.
If you had used stairs or a ladder to enter that platform, just demolish those and you're perfectly safe.
Just don't forget to bring the anti-dote, even when using Root armor, just in case.
can someone help me in my server i got all black metal tools but im bad with bosses and more can someone help?
ashlands spawn rate is kinda ridiculous ngl
Eh, nothing compared to what it was.
doesn't mean its not still a bit much
Oh it is not π Completly doable on solo (was even before but it was quite a bit harder π )
its do-able, but dealing with enemies every 10 steps is a slog when youre just trying to walk 30m
and you turn back around once youre done, the entire path is filled with spawns again less than a minute later
You were warned to prepare for battlefield by Munin π
cute.
Itβs the second to last zone, what do you expect?
idc about the spawn rate, the fact you can clear an area and its filled with spawns again instantly is the obnoxious part. its a battlefield that you dont gain any ground real on
The developers wanted to make a biome with more of a focus on combat than the previous biomes
have dense enemies to fight through, but why do we have to fight back through ground we've already won.
I do hope you do destroy the spawners? At least those of the charred ones?
That saves you 30% of the fights (I think)
charred arent the issue lmao, its the constant valkyries and morgen
They're certainly not constant.
Ashland spawn more charred as valkyries as morgen (and askvin) though.
@vocal rivet What's up
It was worst in the PTB
You'll be fine as long as you follow the normal valheim rules
Don't go out at night, destroy spawners, have safe places to fall back too
We made quite a few of those when we were doing the PTB
Go a couple of dozen meters in, make a safe place to put down a portal, rince and repeat
@weary lagoon everyone's capabilities are different when they first step into ashlands. Take it slow and try to enjoy it for what it is. You can do it π«‘
Now if Iβm stuck in the mistlands cuz itβs a huge jump from the plains and it hurts what do I do?
you can use the giant skull as a tower
Is this a nickname you've been subjected to or you wanted it?
Use "probe-tactics" to enter the area.
Walk, don't run and certainly don't sprint.
Equip the wisp to have some better views around you; but it works better when you walk.
Blame Smiffe.
Walking takes to long
Ask those words
Perhaps, but the wisp light works about 200% better as it needs to catch up on you.
If you run, you'll loose your visibilty all the time.
Which is why people complain about Mistlands being hard, because they lack the patience to use cautious tactics.
π no
Sprintingβs fine if youβre ready to fight whatever you may find
Iβll kill everything
Seeing this comment:
TheChivalrousPumpkin β vandaag om 16:07
Now if Iβm stuck in the mistlands cuz itβs a huge jump from the plains and it hurts what do I do?
I'd say most kills you instead.
Iβll figure it out
I wanna commit mass genocide on these heretical beings cast aside by Odin himself.
Hello guys, do you know if the new merchant (Witch) will spawn in the old world?
Also the making of the plains was just pure lazy and un creative
Yes - as long as you have unloaded swamps you'll be fine
Is ur world all explored?
no
Then she is there somewhere
ok, thanks
Sheβs in ur swamps that u havenβt explored does that make is better?
Wouldn't it be a good thing if we get a pinned message saying:
"New content will spawn in all unexplored areas of your old worlds"
just to get rid of seeing the same question popping up 10000 times a day each time new content is released?
Something to consider mods?
Or Smiffe?
Putting a question mark hurt my feelings Iβll have u know.
Hey will the new stuff spawn in unexplored areas of my old worlds?
All in favour of obliterating this guy off this world?
free coal
I donβt think we could even get coal out of u.
You dont know, Thor works in mysterious ways.
Not enough value in my opinion
Anyone know when they plan on making deep lands or whatever itβs called?
MedOet, the Bog Witch tends to be in a swamp with a Bonemass that you have not explored. Find a swamp far from your Bonemass, raid a crypt with a Vegivisr, and then head to the unexplored swamp with Bonemass.
The broom inside bog witch house is the worst fucking thing to exist
Noone would read it.
Pushing me around while Iβm trying to shop. Or atleast let me get one inside my house to clean. A drauger is trying to kill it. Should I kill him or does the bog witch get mad?
that would have to be one sent by me
It's fine - the witch doesn't care
Good. The broom might be annoying af but I love him for some reasons
The location of the Bog Witch has no connection to that of Bonemass.
Can big waves actually damage a boat?
Depends on the boat size. Raft yes, the small boat depends on how big the wave, the longboat Iβve never had it happen.
If it capsizes the boat sure
Yes, the boat can get tossed up and land back and take a little damage.
boats can capsize!?
karve is especially vulnerable to wave chip damage in the ocean, probably the raft as well
Yup.
Don't take the little boats out in a storm
They are more for shoreline fishing that going out to sea
My seed has 5 Bonemass locations, and all maps have 10 Bog Witch locations. 4 of my Bonemass swamps have a Bog Witch location in it. Pretty good odds for just being in the same radius from spawn.
longboat not as much, although I've seen it take damage in multiplayer
Yes
the raft is more flat, i've not seen it wobble and bounce as much as the karve, but i haven't used it a whole lot either
welp, I went in a bunch of storms with my karve
Ok?
i've never seen it happen, but i have seen karves swing around so bad that i don't doubt it's possible under the perfect conditions
If ur fine ur fine
Depends on wave size, wind speed, direction, etc
my friend and I got capsized just as we left an island once
Iβm sailing in my karve rn as I type this
that is what i mean by perfect conditions
Imagine having friends to play withβ¦ couldnβt be meeeeeeeπ
I'm agreeing with you π
oh, sorry π
Dingus alert
-# circling back to this for a moment~
new worldgen content can always generate in unexplored parts of your world, old or new.
note that the world generation radius is a good bit wider than the map discovery radius - if you can see rocks and trees in the distance, that chunk is generated, though the featureless low detail terrain beyond that may not be yet.
furthermore, generation adapts to existing worlds. if you were to look up your world's seed and go out to generate every predicted possible location for, say, the bog witch on your world before updating your game, the game would simply pick new spots upon updating as long as unexplored swamp land still exists.
With the amount of high mineral foods our character eats we shouldnβt be able to use portals, and if we did the moment we teleport we would pretty much become a mush
Was there a cited reason as to why we cant cultivate berry bushes?
Berry π¦
no, but I bet they did it to make it more tedious and make the game more drawn out
Itβs good to have some ingredients that must be foraged and some that must be farmed. If the developers want us to forage for an item, they make a recipe from foraged ingredients, and if they want us to farm for something they put farmable ingredients in the recipe.
same reason why our clothes are actually still in our invisible backpack when we equip them
What invisible backpack?
How u think we carry everything?
You equip the clothes and they go on your body
But they still in ur inventory.
Why wouldnβt they be?
I don't think I'll ever play this game without mods tbh
Cuz ur wearing them
Whatβs wrong with an item being equipped from the inventory?
Inventory=backpack. If I go hicking with my clothes in my backpack then Iβm walking around butt naked. If they arenβt in my backpack and Iβm wearing them then Iβm not butt naked and they arenβt in my backpack
Get it now?
Why is the inventory a backpack? Itβs just a menu to access all items currently available to your character.
Because we donβt have access to any space time magic.
Do you have access to your inventory?
The inventory is not space time magic, itβs just a list of items displayed as a grid in the inventory screen
thank god for mods
I couldn't imagine needing mods.
how do i update mods for valheim or do i just reinstall them?
yes but it acts as a invisible backpack.
Nah, thats the space time magic π
he called you stinky
you are now devastated
In order to use backpacks they would need to be in base game π so you are wronger π
Do someone have open world to start in?
ur wrongerer stinky pants.
The inventory is just a kangaroo like pouch of flesh on the abdomen. Change my mind.
ban this guy
Just because the pants are from stinky troll doesent mean they are stinky π€
it do mean they are stinky. STINKY PANTS!
And they say chivalry is dead...
it says they are a he/him so they aint a women
Are you 12?
Someone made sense of that last sentence?
no
Nope
I think my brain just short-circuited π€£
#valheim-chat message this one?
Yes, english isn't my native language but I know enough to know it doesn't make any sense
the person i was refering to has their pronouns as "he/him" meaning they are a guy. chivalry refers to women. so i said they aint a women and my chivalry doesnt apply to them
I assume he is refering to my profile π i have he/him there, also i think it was a reference to this #valheim-chat message since the chivarly part π€·ββοΈ
Why are you using a word used to define multiple persons to refer to one?
However we are straying from valheim topics friends π we should stay on valheim discusions or move to general
What?
because chivalry doesnt apply to them?
probably referring to "women" being the plural
And why not?
because they are a guy dingus
Hm, back to the dictionary for you.
"courteous behavior, especially that of a man toward women:"
facilitated by Odin to give you easy access π
Correct.
Yep π So our time in 10th world would be a bit easier
Especially toward but not excluding men π
And you should know that given your name @void dagger π
when anyone says chivalry pretty much everyone assumes its towards women
A better definition would be
"the medieval knightly system with its religious, moral, and social code"
For example, me punting a greydwarf off a cliff is not chivalrous π
They do? Anyone here feel that way?
im not gonna bother with this stupidity
i at least usually see it being used to refer to women, either way i don't think it's that serious
It's not our fault you don't know what your name means.
courteous behavior, especially that of a man toward women. cope that im right 50%
Ok, now look up especially.
Mostly. Which means Iβm more than 50% right
they're not claiming it's 100%
10/10. thatβs what I rate ur coolness level
I'd say that arguing "they ain't a woman and my chivalry doesn't apply to them" would disagree.
Courtesy is common for many people towards everyone else, no matter which sex you are, no matter where you are but more importantly on the road!
Iβm not the courteous pumpkin am I?
That has already been established
Well, given that you just defined chivalry as courteous behaviour I'd hope so.
Chivalry is about having better armor than your opponent and killing them to prove it
When did you last play valheim?
Is there a roadmap?
Nope. But we only have Deep North to go, and maybe an ocean update so we don't really need one.
Yeah maybe for after that :p
After the game is finished? We definitely don't need a map for that.
What about an update where Hugin carries you to ygdrasil when you defeat the deep north boss
A) why would Hugin do that and B) we're going to Valhalla.
I don't think Hugin is physically capable of that π€£
Have you seen his tiny wings?
We needed a valkarie just to drop us off the first time
Hugin is strong as shit
The lore in this game is hardly a few pages yet some people seem to still get it wrong.
Its just a very nice game, and i'm hoping on replaying it with new content every x amount of time
Haven't ever seen you try to aim a guess at the lore π€·
So that hot valkyrie is the one that will take us to valhalla when we did our job?
No need to guess it's right there.
Well to be honest I don't remember most of the red stones I've read and the last one I read was "plains are dangerous"
So unless I look up for the lore I don't think I will learn it by playing ngl
#mods-discussion π
imagine if after completing the game, you can take your character into a new game+ mode and its in Valhalla
New Game+ doesn't usually have new content.
Reaching valhalla will be called "the credits"
And I'm pretty sure there won't be anything after that
Yea I think the same
Finally had a chance to play with the new update over the last few days and I am absolutely loving it. It scratched so many itches at once: renewable way to spend gold, crafting QoL, more use for biome-specific fish, farming QoL, more balanced foods. Even potential for home delivery of chain.
Are you uploading your world or just using the seed?
There maybe a difference in game versions.
The older your map seed is, the more different it may start to look when using that map seed at the website.
Which means it may be a better idea to upload the safe files to generate your world instead of just using the seed.
Reason, each new content changes the location of PoI's somewhat.
But if your map is even before Ashlands, the entire change to the southern part of the map will have a very big impact, resulting in PoI's being shown at the site while they aren't there in the game and the other way around.
Did they nerf the speed of the Drakkar ship at some point?
Me and my boi took it out for a spin to try and find the Bog Witch, and that thing chugged along very slowly
And we both were using Moder when needed. I thought I remember that beast cruisin across the seas...
@worthy gazelle Even when the wind is on your side, the speed of the wind vary from day to day and affect how fast the boat goes
Nerf it? It's only just gone in the game..
Right, but my inquiry still stands. I thought I remember it being much faster
but if wind speed vary enough in the game, then that could account for me remembering it being faster
maybe we just had a couple of super windy days lol
You can see if there's strong wind by the particle moving sideways and leaving trails
For sure, I've played enough to notice that. But I hadn't figured that there was an actual difference in the effect it had on your ship outside of wind direction
very good to know that it's not JUST a directional indicator. Thanks for the info. The more you knoooow!
does wind speed affect wave intensity as well? π€
I think so
That's why it's best to have your flour mills in the plains
Most likely this will be a questioned frequently asked here but do we have any info when the new biome Deep north will be added and when 1.0 will be released?
So frequently that typing deep north in the search box would yield multiple answers. π
No, no information. We've only just had Ashlands.
wasnt that in april?
Ashlands was added during May.
okkie
Well ptb was in April, live release was in May π
Am I correct that there is essentially only 1 feast at any stage in the game that is worth using? Kind of weird to share a feast then each individually still eat two other foods
damn is it normal to get 1 shot in ashlands?
i haven't reached Ashlands yet, but it's a common recommendation to always use the best food that yo have π
there is one per biome
I'm using boar meat+ lox meat + onion soup
Not good enough food
that's my kinda cheap...which means horribly underequipped
You need real food.
If you're going into Ashlands you should at least use Mistlands-tier food.
damn
By the time you unlock feasts you have 3 available that are all 35/35 splits.
So if you make them all, you have 130/155 stats for 50 minutes.
Which is not bad at all tbh for that stage of the game.
Also the point of feasts is you're trading total stat for duration.
Meaning they are intended for general use, but any boss fight or combat-specific day you should eat normal food.
(Giving both food types a purpose, which is good balance)
I have some but didn't think I needed them
Every time I have said food is more important than gear and people never believe me ππππ
Youβre not a real Viking unless youβre also a gourmet chef
Proper food is a large part of why certain gear tiers can be skipped entirely.
should i use bronze sword or bronze axe?
Whichever you, personally, enjoy using more.
which ones the best for swamp and mountain
Whichever you, personally, enjoy using more.
How do you set up a dedicated server?
Depends on playstyle. Swords are slightly faster and, as the tier increases, have more reach. Axes save you a quickbar slot, since they're also a tool.
In terms of "best" -> Whichever you, personally, enjoy using more.
Also, IMO, bronze weapons are pretty pointless. I always make a lvl 1 bronze axe for finewood but a lvl 4 club is enough to get you through to iron.
just tested, sword reach stays the same throughout all tiers like all other weapon types, they just have weirdly long reach to begin with.
(showing the bronze sword and nidhogg here, but i also tested the silver sword, mistwalker and dyrnwyn (since its model is by far the largest))
The only pointless Bronze equipment IMO is the armor (unless there is no luck with finding enough Trolls). I usually craft Mace because Wooden Club doesn't have the secondary attack.
The pickaxe...
~~what pickaxe?
~~
The bronze pickaxe π
but you can mine iron with antler pick~
bronze pickaxe? never heard of such a thing
Yep, thats why i gave it as another pointless bronze equipment π
it's hard to pick between bronze pickaxe and bronze armor for me - i never make either but their uses are so different
Bronze Armor my beloved π
there's definitely a case to be made for the bronze pickaxe speeding up the iron grind til you get an iron pickaxe, but you might as well just save the grind used to make the pickaxe for iron instead to make that pickaxe earlier
I mean, the armor is at least nice to look at π
And Bronze Pick slaps. You're all just h8rs π
all my homies hate alloys
Nono, it picks, not slaps π
Then we are not homies. π
but rose gold :(
Aluminium?
thats not an alloy
okay rose gold is excluded
It is when we actually use it.
Alloyminium
No? Aluminium is just an element, you can make alloys with it ofcourse, like dural for example, but in itself its not an alloy
It is when we actually use it. Like I said.
Most commonly it is Aluminium + Copper because corrosion resistance is insane.
But thats no longer aluminium... π
"No, you're wrong."
"Yes, I'm right."
Repeat ad infinum.
Moving on π
Aluminium + copper alloys are called aluminium bronzes π aluminium is just aluminium
Bronze armor and equipment is good stuff and I shall hear no more slander π
Unless we're talking crap about Bronze Arrow. That I will agree to.
my favorite bronze equipment is ||item stands||
So... what's "optimized" about the grey dwarf eye? Burn duration when used as fuel?
Bronze Pick is the second bronze thing I make because it speeds up the acquisition of bronze.
better eyesight, fewer car accidents in the black forest
Imagine a different version of the Circlet that required eyes as fuel but lit the area more brightly. π
I typically only grab a bronze axe, weapon of choice and maybe a buckler before I beeline to Elder and start collecting iron
I get the weapon just to level my skill in it, usually atgeir, sword, or mace, the axe for everything until plains, and the buckler if I want to parry better at that stage of the game
tbf, I don't skip bronze because it's bad, I skip it because I wanna save as much of it as possible for building lmao
And what exactly are you building with Bronze?
The only items I can think of are the item stand, the shutters and the Karve; all needing the bronze nails. Cart may be added to that list too if you like it.
Next thing you need is the cultivator, but that's it.
No other building pieces, so what do you need the bronze for?
typically I need copper and tin on their own, more than I need the actual bronze, things like the cauldron, mead kettle, various upgrade stations, sconces, etc.
You need bronze for crafting station upgrades
Also you need copper for better indoor lights and a few other things
Fermenters.
Those aren't building pieces, those are crafting tools and decoration / furniture.
Wood would be needed for building pieces, so does stone and iron. But bronze? Nope, not at all.
OH YEAH, can't forget about my 25 trillion fermenters, and yeah believe it or not all the crafting stuff is built by the hammer
Also, if you ever think you have enough Bronze.... Krom says high π
Krom can be crafted with copper from the Mistlands.
You can get copper scrap there but you need to get tin from BF anyway
you can get tons of bronze scrap from the spikes from fortresses. more than you ever need
Granted you donβt want Krom at that point
i literally -just- finished moving our board from the emergency taming cubby into a proper barn away from the walls, and the ground started shaking xD
Yeah... the big boy is next on my crafting list
finally crafted Himminafl, it's gonna be hard for the Ashlands to top this thing as my favorite, though I have heard that Iolite weapons are basically just Himminafl slapped onto that weapon class
is there any way to spawn in a bog witch on a world that has all the default spawn locations already explored? my main world is really old and im pretty sure the spawn spots for the witch are already loaded in
from what I know there's a dev command to force certain structures to attempt to regen, may try that?
good call, ill look into that
Can always just start a new world π
theres so much in this world tho, i cant let go of the past lol
I accidentally found her in my pre-bog world while sailing to a plains/mistland island to build my dream fort
Uh... so many things I could say...
I will stick with "Might want to work on that, as it is a life skill."
any1 wanna do the sunken crypt with me
There is no singular sunken crypt. There are many.
Either way #1024264966712340510
if i can afford to not restart my world i wont, this world is almost 4 years old and im just hoping to use it as long as possible. i got lucky already because i didnt explore the far north or south but im pretty sure all the swamps in the merchant spawn ring are tapped
not that deep lol, just different playstyles, some people love to have a single world with massive amounts of progress, some like to make new worlds every update, and some like to just make worlds to speed through them in a few days
i cant let go of the past
Pretty deep. But you do you I guess π€·ββοΈ
exactly, my friends and i restart our server world with every update
yeah this was a joke, im perfectly capable of letting go of the past whyen dealing with irl matters, this is a video game
if that's a serious remark I doubt the valheim discord server is the place to be diagnosed
If you have to clarify that it is a joke...
i think you take things way too seriously
I take people at their word.
If they do not mean what they say, that's their issue, not mine.
Use the command location bogwitch_camp SAVE
Without adding save, this command will disable saving until the world is reopened
+respect
oh dear, i did not realize it spaws it RIGHT whre im at lmao its in the middle of the ocean
You could try forcedelete to remove it
the witch just made her hut in a rather oversized bog lol
just bought 25 squirrel hamstrings, I'm gonna go so fast in my fenris armor now
I dont think that works on locations π€ it works when you spawn the npc by itself but i have no idea about the whole camp
Iβm not sure either but itβs definitely worth a try
worst case you can roll back your save
oh, nice. apparently there's a small spot on my island that's not spawn proofed. skeleton surprise raid just happened, and i see exactly where they popped in. Asksvin are handling it, but now that i know, i might leave it open, and just put more asksvins. free resources
has anyone found a seed that connects one end of the world to the other?
based on how the worldgen works that would be pretty hard to find, if not impossible
No but what do you need it for? Im curious now
wondering how long it takes to run from one end to the other. someone said the works is 10.5km long which is MUCH shorter than I thought
also since a road that connects one side to another is impossible without mods, a single landmass is the best bet
I've arrived on my plains island, time to wipe out the natives
starting to think it's a bit big to spawnproof
You need more campfires/workbenches π
can't post screenshots yet, but it's fairly large for an island
I don't doubt I can fill the space, the hard part is figuring out what to fill it with
there are also some small little dots of mistlands above it that I hope to use for mushroom farming
Just spam campfires π€·ββοΈ
honestly it's probably big enough for me to fit a medium sized village on
I'm considering making full scale buildings for all my stuff instead of just rooms, with interconnected paths, things like a forge, dining hall, etc.
could be quite the project, idk if I'm experienced enough yet to build something of that scale
hi, iβm emi
i like guck
valid, guck's great, draugr fang and green banners are nice
didnβt read this columbus quote in the textbook
omg, you play valheim on geforce now too π
also you donβt eat guck? gobble gobble
Do you not get the sheltered effect if the roofs are too high?
I would if the game let me
My roof is 40m above and I'm not getting a sheltered effect
Do you have a fire?
seekers tried to raid me lmao, the three loxes on the island demolished all of them
No, but I get the effect when I go under the roof 12m above right next to it
Add a fire, and try again.
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Shelter_Effect you have to be under a room AND have at least 80% cover
No the fire didn't solve the issue
Do walls affect it? My base is just floors and roofs rn
Easiest way to test: Build two wooden walls in a corner under a floor and check if you get the message. Repeat for other floors until you get the effect.
It's likely you will need the walls for yourself, while for the workbench having a roof and walls at one side would be enough.
gotta love chilling in a fuling camp while waiting for the loxes to tame
It's not that bad if there's a wooden tower you can use nearby.
Or if you're able to hide in one of those huts.
yep, that's what I'm doing, in a hut rn, cleared the whole island by now and spawnproofed most of it
only area I know that isn't spawnproofed is where the loxes are, just didn't want them to walk into the campfires
It's more complicated it there are still fulings nearby, though.
I'm making a fresh playthrough since the Bog Witch update, and uh... did I just make two pairs of pants? Is that normal?
Yep, the new crafting skill has a chance to give you a bonus item when crafting something π
Aaah. interesting
Extra pants in case of Corpse runs
i might scare off the greydwarfs if I just take the one pants left on my tomb.
yeah, leads to some pretty funny situations, my first double craft was an iron atgeir lmao, led to me and my friend both using atgeirs until he got the sledge and battleaxe
I've yet to get a double craft but I get loads of bonus crops from farming.
want desert
Hm?
Maybe they mean dessert if so I'd like some.
anyone wanna do a fresh start? i kinda suck
I guess we'll never know.
Question, any ideas for what to put in a small basement that has a little layer of water? Or is it pretty much useless...
Fish storage?
Pet fish β€οΈ
It's your build.
Why did you make the basement?
Use it for that purpose.
I just thought it'd be cool to have some extra space down there for whatever, problem is finding whatever to put down there. I have some ideas but being built too low around water level made it so it's always partially flooded.
So the problem is "for whatever."
π€·ββοΈ Make things with purpose.
If no purpose, don't make.
"For whatever" is not clearly defined enough to qualify as purpose.
I'll just keep it down there for extra storage then I guess. Seems like basements in general are used for that anyway.
I used mine for my fermenters personally.
Not sure why it's still 30s to be honest.
wraith raid pretty awesome. just got 7 chains delivered to my door
Treelash? More like door dash
guy asked for ideas man not a lesson
Hi.
unless i forgot to pick some eggs up before, it looks like a stack of 50 vineberries feeding 2 asksvins gave me 57 eggs. that's efficient!
I am almost entirely converted to Spears as a weapon π
Because the animation is cringe, but holy fuck their attack speed...
Flint spear is great. I did switch away from spears in the Swamp however.
I did a run that was mostly only spears and atgier. Gotta say, it really grew on me. Even though i would lose a lot of spears in the mountains and mistlands...
You also level it so fast because the attack speed is so high and level cares only about number of hits.
Spears are clutch when running out of ammo with the bow against drakes.
Barely ever throw the thing. I am strictly talking about melee potential.
You know what else is clutch? Trying to jump-attack drakes when you are out of ammo AND spears πΉ
Thatβs odd. I went back into an infested mine after I had cleared it and all the enemies were back. Never had enemies respawn in a dungeon before but Iβm not complaining lol.
WTF is up with the Flametal Gate
its 3 blocks wide, there is also no 1.5 option in ashlands stone walls or even 1x1 options.
hey do the candles burn out?
Yeah they do.
the key is the thick grausten pillars.
if you snap their central points to the edges of walls, a full wall-sized gap between them will leave just enough space for flametal gates. this is further supported by grausten arches perfectly matching the curve of the top of the gate
#building-screenshots message here's an example
Infested mines have royal jelly and seekers respawn.
thats actually really damn impressive
and know i know how to upgrade my outer walls
Just got my first 4 quality fish ||Feels good af||
People sleep on the spear.
Also, they are great if you get used to the throw animation.
I like to practice it for hunting or for a quick throw as I close the distance with my enemies
Spear throw for stagger just before I get to you, and by the time I do, I can stab you while you are stunned π€©π₯³
I wish the stab with the spear was a thrust instead of the jab from the overhead. It's still really fun for this exact reason
there was an old thrusting weapon called a partizan which had guard edges and a flat tip, enabling sweeps and parries
kind of like a halbert
Whaat? That's awesome. I'd wish to see that return
will enemies regenerate in unloaded areas?
Or if there was just like a "great spear" that had that same movement and differentiated itself from the normal spear
Is there a Valheim discord server that just hosts modded servers, or is this the only place to find server lfgs? Just wondering since most of the lfgs here are fresh vanilla playthroughs.
yes, almost all timers in the game work by remembering the point in time they started and then periodically checking to calculate how much time has passed since then, allowing them to catch up upon loading after being unloaded for any amount of time
I found hildir before haldor. :/
has anyone else experienced stuttering in the new update?
