Man, normally deer are scarce AF for me, but I have massive spawn rates this run.

I haven’t experienced visual annoyances around frame rates that has turned me from playing or even consider it.

I also like to hatch a lot of asksvin in the ashlands in multiple places. I killed Fader with approximately 80 of them. So that should have killed my frame rate, but I didn’t notice it doing so.

We just got there for the first time, ran 100m, died a handful of times clearing out a castle, but overall too many stutters for either of our (admittedly high) standards

can't you see your exact frame rate if you hit f2 or something? what is it dropping to? you can see it specifically. when it drops lower than X, you're not happy. What is X?

there are ways to improve frame rate. i think there's a pinned post in valheim-help or something. have you tried lowering various graphis quality settings to get your minimum framerate high enough to satisfy your play group?

"too many stutters" equals what? is it 1 stutter every minute? it's it 5 stutters in an hour?

i guess it doesn't matter really, but i'm curious. and if you told me something ridiculous i would probably just paying attention to this 🙂

The stutters are not as "strong" as the autosave stutter it gets real tiring when there are 5-10 a minute

But the framerate is deceiving obviously, my average is just fine. Lowering settings helped nothing (did not lower render distance. F that)

I have had more crashes in the last 2 weeks than the other 3000+ hours I've played the game. GTX 3070 driver 565.90 in Game Ready mode.

Gotcha, world modifiers allow that too, you can enable "hammer mode" which means you don't need materials for building (but you have to have unlocked the recipe to desired building piece) and also you can enable "passive creatures" so enemy mobs will ignore you.

Agreed with the above, we found the boss spawner way before the red stone. In our map he spawned next to 4 or 5 massive tall pillars/stones. So you might be better off looking for those super tall pillars/rocks than the small red stone.

Took me a long time to realise I had to jump onto the floating lava leviathans to get Flametal. I was avoiding lava like the plague, and there wasn't anything prompring me to ignore that impulse for over a week. Then I found one of them literally perched up against a rock that I could safely walk onto and suddenly I discovered that I was supposed to mine them.

Some communications would be nice. 😭

I had to slowly get Flametal from Fortresses for ages before then.

@past hill i think all bosses have their runestone by their altars and I think the reasoning is so in case you accidentally delete it (or didn't actually find the boss location by vesvigir to begin with, just stumbled across it) you can add the boss map marker back to your map by interacting with the stone

spirit damage by itself isn't amazing, it's a DoT damage type, but at least it stacks.
what makes it great in this case is that the fact that not many enemies take it at all motivated the devs to give the silver sword a lot of spirit damage to balance that out.
unfortunately they didn't quite keep that balancing mindset up when H&H came around and they added more silver weapons - the crystal battleaxe and silver knife don't compare.

it really depends upon how difficult you're finding combat, some people find they need the extra health food, some find they manage just find 2 stamina 1 health, and some just go 2 eitr and an extra (I do stamina as the third) or just all 3 eitr, like @nocturne wolf said just relying entirely on shield bubble spell for defense

My favourite weapon there is Krom. Mistwalker is good too.
There's only two armor sets, one's magic and one isn't,

personally I like magic a lot, it's fun, it's new when you get to mistlands, and mechanically it is pretty optimal since the main enemy type resists all physical damage, but not any of the magical

and i've seen some still use full root armor for the bows bonus on top of the pierce res.
just keep in mind that if you use any root pieces, use a barley wine to overwrite its fire weakness if you're up against some of the mistlands' fire enemies.

Greydwarves don't have that problem for a while. Can easily knock them back while running around in Plains gear.

The karve? Grab the rudder with E. Then A & D to steer left and right. W to go forward, S to go back.

Hitting W more than once will unfurl the sail, and S will pull it back up again. You won't be able to use the sail if the wind is in the wrong direction. The circle to the right shows the wind direction

there's no way to influence the shape or colour of the terrain shown on the map, it's quite separate from the actual world you're exploring (which also allows you to use the exploremap command to fully reveal your map without actually generating any terrain)

It’s best not to block starred enemies in later biomes, they will likely deal enough stagger to make your block fail.

If you defeated Yagluth, finding Fulings in previous biomes is normal.

Once you've defeated the queen you will find seekers in the previous biomes as well. Which gives the occasional interesting effect.

Tip 1: don't rush.
Get your weapons, get leather for armor, get the scrap for a bow and find yourself a good spot to live at for some time. You can always move to a better location later.

Tip 2: you will need lots of resources in the future. I hope you're able to deal with that, as for some players it may be too much of a grind.
If you feel like that, set your world modifiers to get more resources.

Tip 3: Food and rested bonus are king (or queen) in this game. Always make sure both are full or near full when you're out adventuring.

Tip 4: Make sure you carry some wood and stones with you if you go out so you can use old buildings as a temporary shelter. Even a fire and a roof will give you a rested bonus, making life a lot easier.

One method is to use fire arrows.
The pillars of that altar are nice for cover. But you will need to keep moving when doing that.

The other method is using an axe and shield / buckler.

If the altar is high enough above the water line, you may consider to mine out the area under it, so you can use the fire to get a small rested bonus from both the fire and the "roof" formed by the altar. It's also a good spot to hide and recover health if / when needed.

And last, but not least, make sure you got the area cleared from any possible Greydwarf spawner so they won't join the fight.

Easiest way to mostly trivialize death in valheim... set up a portal in a safe spot before going into anywhere or doing anything that might be dangerous. Then, worst case... your trip back for a corpse run will be greatly diminished and in many cases almost completely removed.

There is no cap on how many portals you can set up, and they are highly abusable 😂

Should never be making a repeat sailing trip. The horror stories are when you sail the same way twice hahaha.

With the exception of late game metal runs (until the most recent biome that is) 😏
