it ain't even permanently multiplayer, you just basically temporarily make it a server, for the session you're running, but if you logout (i don't even think you have to quit the whole game application) when you log back in you don't have to open it again and it SHOULD IIRC behave just like a solo save file

well when its not a dedicated server but a player hosting their own save, they act as the server effectively, (their machine) doing what it would do, and that's why they have to be online playing to host for others to join

when you select the setting in the menu it starts behaving like a server (for example, the world keeps running/playing when you hit the escape menu instead of pausing) and you can invite people to it with the invite code (or I think other ways too)

but then if you log out, when you restart the save, it won't automatically/always necessarily be still acting like a server like that, you CAN do the same thing you did before, to open it again, but you don't HAVE to

so my point was just, as far as I know at least, not any permanent change to the save file by opening it to another player temporarily
if you were worried about that

50% of valheim progression is just picking up stuff to unlock recipes

what you should be doing HEAVILY depends on where you're at in the game :)
it will definitely make more sense as you explore and experiment a bit (mostly just pick up those recipes tho)

Start by collecting some wood and some stone. Craft a hammer, which allows you to build a workbench. Once the workbench is placed, you can build a little home. Once you have a home with a roof (make sure you use roof pieces) place your workbench in there to use it further. @atomic edge

I would recommend finding a swamp before killing the elder and setting up a portal near it (not necessarily in it). Swamp is a big difficulty jump and new players can die a lot there. Killing bosses unlocks new raids, including enemies from the next biome, killing the elder will unlock troll raids

Best way to work around Yagluth is to jog in a slow circle around him as he fires meteors so that they can’t target you properly - then tag him when he drops his lightning fist and by staying close to him, he doesn’t fire his omega beam

But above everything else you need fire resistance, stamina and health pots

Otherwise you’re in for a rough time due to the AOE nature of his fire attacks

Specifically for tower shield builds, I like to tank his lightning fist attack then keep swinging

Just put your shield away and jog when he drops the beat

There is no good way to block all those falling rocks

Lingering gives +25% eitr regen for 5 minutes.
Minor gives 125 eitr and has a cooldown of 2 minutes so in 5 minutes you could take 2 and in 10 minutes you could take 5.
So you would need to generate 50 eitr a minute with the 25% from lingering to be on par with minor.

That latter seems plausible if you're constantly casting, with the added bonus of not having to micromanage when to take it.

The constantly casting for 5 minutes doesn't really happen though, not even in a dungeon or when raiding a fuling camp.
It does happen during a boss fight or in the ashlands from time to time.

Max eitr regen is 4 at 0 eitr without using powers or gear that augments it, so with the lingering potion that means 1 is added for 5 regen at 0 eitr, though you will need to stop casting for a second for eitr regen to trigger and the more eitr is regenerated the slower it goes to a minimum of 2 at full eitr or 2.5 with the lingering potion.
So that means that you would get 1 eitr extra each second that you are not casting at maximum regen.
Depending on how the lingering eitr mead works, is it a flat 25% or is it +25% from all the regen you already have makes a big difference though.
I'm going with a flat 25% else it would be overpowered if you are wearing full eitr-weave or embla, let alone popping queen power and then drinking lingering.

If there's never any perceived benefit, then it's a balance issue and maybe the lingering should be buffed a bit. You might not get as much raw eitr regen, but I can still see some benefit to set and forget.

Like I lose my shield at an inopportune time and I doon't have enough eitr to recast it, I can pop a minor eitr and cast it again or I want to get 2 trolls out back to back I could do that with minor eitr potion.

Seems to me it really needs a buff. A fully upgraded Ashlands tier staff that can't consistently one-shot a no-star greydwarf or skelly seems... underwhelming. (Even if the scatter effect is cool.)

It could but so could waiting the right amount of time for the eitr to regen enough to recast it and that takes more time than drinking the minor mead.

I like the staff of fracturing against groups of mobs but against single target it sucks and I only use it against groups till I can get the staff of the wild.
The only thing it has going for it is that it is dirt cheap and it can be good against groups of mobs till you can get the staff of the wild.
I do like the ember staff more than the staff of fracturing though but against a sizeable group of mobs the fracturing wins out a tad since it can deal more damage if all its projectiles hit.

If a player has just been tanking hits and brute forcing their way through things, yeah, I could see how that would be a problem cuz that just doesn't work in Ashlands.

They also nerfed the difficulty quite a bit

My first Ashlands experiences were like the beginning of Saving Private Ryan. It was rough with lots of dead bodies littering a beach.

Looking to make sure my math is right, was investigating some damage values.

Slayer at level 3 does 182 damage.
Brutal Slayer at level 2 does 176 damage.

Blood effect is an extra .2% damage per hit point lost. So, for the brutal slayer to match the damage of a standard slayer (only 6 points of damage) you would need a 3.4% increase in damage. In other words, you need to be missing about 17 HP to match the damage.

Does this seem correct?

Max health currently is 325 (300 from food, 25 default) so if you’re missing say 300HP, blood weapons get a 60% damage increase?

As far as I know, that is correct. My first tamed boar, I’ll name them. When they produce offspring that don’t try to run back, I butcher the named (original) boar so I don’t have that issue anymore.
