so there's what 2 NPC's now? Hildir and i saw long time ago another female dwarf one? @light moat
Haldor is the male dwarf (Dverg) and Hildir is the female
Sheโll be in your world! ๐
i dipped long time ago, i only have Haldor, i thought he will be getting the upgrades haha
Hildir is the female then, got it. hahaha
Haldor got some tweaks as well, actually. And yes, your world will have those changes already ๐
okay cool, did he just get new items?
He got like one new item, and I think some others got progression locked? Nothing too major
okay cool, well shiteeee im installing the game.
can i tweak world settings on my first ever seed?
like ore through portals?
Yep!
im checking now lol
check dms lol i sowed you something
Is there a use for excess eikthyr horns? Or no reason to kill him more than once?
Only reason to kill him again is to hang his trophy on your wall. He's one of the better looking ones.
i usually put bonemass trophy on my mead hall or fermenting place
But no use for extra antlers?
Only if you want more bone pickaxes for deco or something, but once you have bronze you don't need them.
I'd say skip bronze pick since antler can get iron.
Antler also has the advantage of being repaired with a workbench and nor a forge.
Having extra picks isn't much of an issue imo since you're far more likely to run out of carry weight before you run our of inventory slots when it comes to ore.
Depends on if you want more bronze before defeating the elder and getting into swamp. Mining a bunch with antler would be a pain.
Well, more of a pain.
I typically build a repair station out and about. But ye. It just depends :3
you dont get seeds back when you harvest produce?
You can plant a seed type of the crop by using the crop itself, that will give you seeds
you can plant a carrot by placing a carrot?
By using cultivator, samรฉ as planting carrot seeds to get carrot you will get 3 seeds for planting one carrot
ohh i forgot that tool
anyone else having this kind of blurr when i turn around with the mouse? its kinda annoying
Is motion blur on in graphics settings?
it was actually depth of field
i fixed it now. motion blur was off
DOF was causing that
first playthrough just hit 365 Valheim days. In the mistlands now and i finally got magic feel like im a pimp
been waiting to get magic since i started been such a fun time and a crazy ass journey
Yo
Ya'll got any public community server recommendations? Started to become boring playing solo Valheim all the time
#1024264966712340510 should have some groups you can join
Alr, thanks
Cool that you have that old world! Just for you to know, when Mistlands came out devs changed world gen for new worlds to create larger areas of Mistlands that replaced mostly Swamp areas further from center while old worlds remained the same. So the changes are that your world has large areas of Swamp even further so you don't have to worry about exploring them too much.
@granite quarry is the server yall playin on public? if so, could i get the IP?
Yo I wanna start a new run, hard, no portal. Do you think I should make a new character?
Nvm im just gonna do it like that, hard with no portal but death stats is on very easy
Thanks for explaining that!
also the resin upkeep for my base is killing me...lol torches run out so fast
i need 1million resin to keep my base from being in the dark lol
In later game you can get some light sources that don't require any fuel.
It's not technically public but if you ask the host in here you can probably join.
Who is it?
That'll be baberox.
Alr
ah cool, must be a new item then from mistlands or ashlands?
3 items during Mistlands to be exact, can't put spoiler tag on mobile so if you don't mind I can tell what they are.
oh im far away from mistlands, its all good! thanks
No problem, you will eventually find out. Have fun!
which mod yall using to keep the torches lit?
lol weight is still annoying in this game, i forgot about it....not even 30 silver ore stack and im almost 450
ooof..
None, but if you want some for it then folks in #mods-discussion might know about one or two ๐
would anyone wanna play
that profile pic is scaring me though
cutie potato
You may find other players looking through or creating a thread in the #1024264966712340510 channel. Make sure to read the posting guidelines of that channel first if making a thread.
ait thanks ig
waiting for boars to tame rn so how's everyone's day going?
judge not!!!!!!! before you fool yourself.... judge not!! or youre not ready for judgement!!
oouuhh the road to life is rocky and you step on it too
and as you point your finger someone else is judging you ๐
pop off or whatever
anyway wish you could give tamed animals longer names
why can't I name hen #3 Galvanized Square Steel
hello there. anyonne would be willing to help me to attack my first charred fortress ?
contact me in discord ๐
by chance i found Dyrwyrn Hilt fragment. i read on internet you need 3 of those to rebuild the sword. right ?
Correct. One of those places is different from other 2, you will see then.
i think i found place for second location
mysterious whatever
but ashlands is vast and dangerous ;P
Those locations can direct you to next Dyrnwyn piece location, you can also find vegvisirs inside Putrid Holes that lead you to the other locations.
yeah i think i foud the second obne in putrid holes on a vesigir
last one is missing.
this sword is the best ?
Not remotely.
yeah i forgot some sword can deal distance damage ..... i mean best when you use it as normal sword ?
It has the most damage per hit for a 1h sword but the effects you can get from a flametal sword with a gem can be more useful
Use a weight change mod and you're gold
Or just make a cart
You can get a lot of items down slopes easily by pushing it off a cliff
Even better, jump inside and see if you survive
A boat
I just drive the cart and slow it and guide it down the hills but both work well
Build a boat on the mountains and ride down. With all your resources
Sounds fun, you are not acceptings dm from people not in your friend list though
Is there a good mod for some extra variety in map pins?
Folks in #mods-discussion might know ๐
thanks
Hello chat.
I'm sick of these abominations, i found one near the bonemass spawningplace
They are easy enough to deal with once you know their timings ๐
Is there any way to increase it? I know when you have corpse run it goes to 450 but rn I'm still at 300
not that i am aware of. Only way to increase it is with the pouch upgrade from the first NPC you encounter, it will increase to 450. Sadly thats it... again not saure if they added something else to the weight but i doubt it.
I must try find that npc
Black forest! scout them all you will see him dont worry, a little medievel coin bag icon appears on your map too. Goodluck!
Oh thanks for the heads up!
Is there a channel for asking if anyone wants to play together?
----> #1024264966712340510 ๐
๐
You'll certainly get anyone by posting your password in chat.
Should've left it there.
What better way to learn a hard lesson than experiencing the reason why you needed to learn that lesson in the first place?
For very early game, wood shield or one of the tower shields? I can't decode and realized I need a shield
either is viable, depending on if you want to parry+counter for damage (buckler) or tank damage (tower)
Normal shields can parry for more damage against a single target, and tower shields have high knockback when blocking to split groups
I guess I'll have to learn parry timing
I just got leather armor and I'm in a catacomb TERRIFIED
You just need to start blocking less than a quarter of a second before the attack hits
round is all-rounder, tower is for static block only and later you get bucklers that are mainly for parrying ๐
Oh it tells you if you parry. Actually doesn't seem like that horrid of a window
Better than elden ring ๐
oh the window is LOOOOOOOOOOONG
Anyone have an estimate on when deep north update will release?
Very forgiving. I just know certain big boys can't be parried. I'm scared of this stupid troll
nope, we got just got ashlands really not that long ago, i assume between 1 and 2 years from now
Yeah dont know how it takes so long for these content updates.
Itโs best to roll through their attacks until you have black forest food and a bronze buckler if you want to parry them.
so far more than a year
You're insane. Content takes time to get well and I can tell this game has a lot of love
Itโs because Iron Gate is quite a small team.
Can buckle parry more enemies? Or just better at it?
and taht they put A LOT of care and love into the development
Bucklers have a high parry bonus which multiplies block armor when parrying. Bucklers have more parrying armor than normal shields of the same tier, making them ideal for stamina diets or people who exclusively parry and never block.
Ah. Is there a list of which enemies other than bosses can't be parried?
I got 1k hours, im not here to complain so please relax, just saying its crazy they have not hired a few people to help with content. More frequent updates and advertising would bring lots of more customers.
All blockable attacks can be parried, but some enemies including all bosses canโt be staggered so parrying wonโt interrupt their attacks or make them take more damage. I believe the only regular enemies that canโt be staggered are flying enemies, such as drakes or gjalls.
I have +2k hs and im still waiting to get a Dungeon in Ashlands like a castle or smth, a long hard dungeon like Frost caves in Mountains, they got added in later time, and they are AWESOME, best stuff from Mountains
So even trolls can be properly parried? I must be absolutely mistiming their swing
What shield and food have you been using to parry them?
I mean. All I have is wood. I just got enough cores to get my smelter. So maybe they're just dealing more than my shield can block. Even with the parry bonus
Make a bronze buckler as soon as you can if you want to parry them.
Black forest doesnโt have a regular shield, probably to encourage players to use a specialised shield while theyโre still learning the combat.
You may also dodge roll their attack
if you set your boat to the ocean, make sure to look for isles with white rocks on it, be prepared to save some stamina
That would not make development faster
More customers for a buy-once game is irrelevant
They won't
Why? Frost Caves werent there in the beginning
I think putrid caves and fortresses are the dungeons of the Ashlands.
Putrid Caves in Ashlands are like Troll Caves in Dark Forest, and Dark Forest have dungeons
Fortresses are like Dverger builds in Mistlands
Putrid caves are like troll caves. But I donโt think fortresses are like dverger buildings.
Still hope they add more bigger stuff, could even be with the same loots you already have, no need of new items, but need more space, more loot, in 1 world, Ashlands is too small for more than 1,2 ppl, we need dungeons with more space and loot, the magic of dungeons in valheim is having more space to farm, without need of making the world bigger
Ashlands is plenty for 5 or 6.
I farmed all fortresses in a world x1, flame metal? you have to spare, A LOT, but gems? you get too short
Because mountains weren't a complete biome before but were later
Ashlands is a complete biome since day 1
Im talking about making all special weapons full level, i dont know what you mean with been ok
There's absolutely zero need to make all weapons maximum level (not that you even can).
To end game? of course, you could even speedrun, but if wanna have it all, is not enought
If you want to have it all it's your decision.
Doesn't mean you should or especially need to do it
Sounds like a you thing.
Im pretty sure its not only me
I restart valheim again wish me luck guys ๐ญ
Fighting a starred Seeker Soilder along side a randomly alone single Drever is one of the funnest things in the Mistlands imo.
I see him about to take a fatal hit and rush in to block, yeah! Then he nails it in the back!
No one says it is
I saw a lot of people saying the same in testing, and ashlands was finished since day 1..
Because it is, all content meant to be there is there
Of course you are smart enough to know that doesn't mean it can't get updates ๐
I know you aren't so ignorant as to think small updates are impossible XD
Moot point imo. Obviously not having enough resources to make everything that game mechanics allow is an oversight.
Zero chance this is not patched in the future. In the mean time we can harvest multiple worlds or simply mod in renewable ways to get the lacking resources
How many updates has plains had since its release?
I know you're smart enough to know he didn't say that.
3?
I think one to add the tar pit and one for the sealed towers?
If you count hildir yes
H&H added much more to plains... And it was release three years ago
any friends to play together
Yes so my point stands... updates to older biomes are not out of the question
With that logic then black forest and mountains had more...
But it's not like those are very significant content
you can look in #1024264966712340510 ๐
Again, noone said they weren't.
Youn missed a few messages the
Also mistlands and ashlands are much more recent, and the quality and amount of content in those is much more drastic in comparison to the oldest biomes
The only thing you can expect from ashlands should be number tweaks, nothing else
Keep in mind that the deep north is still upcoming and I personnally always assumed that there would be additionnal ways to get gems there as well as further workbench upgrade to upgrade our weapons
So it's less likely to happen soon. His idea, however, is not completely impossible.
If you expect them to create more dungeons or change the existing ones then start complaining from now because you will in the future once the game is released and they're left as they are
Yes, but in which case it would be content for DN exclusively and not ashlands and even less mistlands
Yes of course, just addressing the concern from some about the lack of gems
Oh I really like how the Medows is actually indirectly updated with each biome so far.
I see no way this isn't an oversight to be corrected.
I'd file it as a bug report
The RNG can be a problem, just bad luck can make is so you get very few and many of the sames ones with very few of the ones you want
I once got 11 judes, 13 bloodstones and 0 iolite after 6 fortresses
Just as a reference point, I have fully upgraded one black forge, upgraded another to allow repairs, made and fully upgraded all the Ashlands staves, the electric nidhogg and the electric axes, the electric slayer, the root fang, and the root ripper, and I have left: 5 bloodstone, 15 jade and 14 Iolite. I still have 6 or 7 fortresses left to find and loot.
Yeah I really don't think it is a problem, you will find enough gems on average to fully upgrade around 2 weapons per fortresses.
What happened to the builds channel?
I imagine that eventually all consumable resources will be renewable
wdym?
They seem fine, what happened?
I don't see it anymore
do you have "show all channels" enabled?
Go to channels and roles at the top of the channel list
Nvm. I. Not used to it being so far down
oh... XD
I used to be able to see it from here
you can colaps few sections you dont use for example ๐
Itt does get tiring trying to run somewhere and some random boar or Grey sees you and stalks you across the ENTIRE WORLD
is there an lfg channel?
------>#1024264966712340510 ๐
i 110% glazed over that, thank you
๐
"lets just quickly empty this single crypt in the swamp, it's right next to the ocean", they said. "It'll be easy", they said.
- Death by poison from a blob while building a quick respawn hut, after almost getting one-hit by a 1-star draugr
- Death by a draugr elite in the crypt
- Death from a sneaky draugr with a bow while trying to get my stuff
well there go my skills xD
(and i'm well aware of where we went wrong: trying to do something "real quick" (read: without preparation) in the swamp))
Do blunt, slash, and pierce affect different enemies different?
Some enemies may be resistant or weak to some of those damages. For example, trolls take 1.5x pierce damage and 0.5x blunt damage
Will it tell you when you hit them? And is there one that is all rounder? Like not strong to any, but not weak either
Damage numbers turn yellow if the enemy is weak and grey if the enemy is resistant. Greydwarves and many other enemies take 1.0x damage from all physical damage types.
Sounds familiar. Except it happened to me in the mountains.....
... Where I had 4 "you are being hunted" events in 6 hours while trying to mine silver and / or escape from said event.
The mace just is screaming my name ๐
Maces are great because their secondary attack can do everything - it has a damage, knockback and stagger multiplier.
Hi someone to play ?
Most likely in here:
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
Imo Swamp is the first real difficulty spike in the game.
IMO it goes like so:
Early game transitions into mid-game at Elder's defeat.
Mid-game transitions into late game at Moder's defeat.
late game becomes end-game at the Queen's defeat.
You donโt feel mistlands is the first step into end-game?
thx
I don't feel like they're enough of a dificulty increase from plains
Totally agree on swamp being the first โok, this is where it gets toughโ haha
I mean they ARE enough balance wise, but I wouldn't call it 'end game'
If you are ever about to die from poison, do a quick log out, log in back the game, and all ur status will be cleaned
Including rested
Swamp will always be the organic chemistry of valheim
But then youโre stuck in a swamp without rested, so youโll probably die anyway
honestly, i didn't find the mountains and plains to be that difficult (but damn you, deathsquitos), but it does help that those two biomes are very pretty and atmospheric
mistlands was a big spike for me though, but i think that's also before the wisplight had been buffed? (at least i think it's been buffed at some point?)
I'm dabbling in magic some, Definatly want two blue foods.
Question is Blue-Blue-Blue, Blue-Blue-Red, or Blue-Blue-Yellow.
I'm leaning Blue-Blue-Yellow so you can take advantage of Eiter regening independantly of stamina. You can run while magic restores so I thing Blue-Blue-Yellow is the way to go
oh i'm well aware, but that kind of gamey shenanigans aren't my kind of play ๐
same with logging to a different world, dumping metals/ores into a chest, returning to the first world to portal, then switch back to the storage world to grab the metals again
You donโt need health with a staff of protection, Iโd recommend 2 eitr and 1 stamina.
Yeah
Black forest isn't too big a step up from the Medows, Swamp is a big step, then Mountains is a small step, Plains another big step and for me Mistlands was a small step.
of course thats me marching into Mistlands with 100 defense, and a level 4 Forstner.
what made mistlands feel like a small step for you? ๐
Likely 100 defense and Frostner. Omg Frostner is so good. Its been my main weapon since the start of plains, and slaps even in Mistlands
i felt like the mistlands was realatively easy. the scarcety of enemies and only having to fight maybe like 2-3 enemies max at a time made it not that difficult
unless you are going around trying to fight eveyr dverger you see
its pretty peaceful
I am as well. I second the above suggestion for 2 eitr and 1 stamina.
Getting used to the playstyle and the anxiety with such a low hp pool. (Got careless once so far and didn't notice my bubble had popped.) It's been very fun, though. Standing off a good distance and raining down fire on a fuling village from up high is awesome.
the only "problem" enemy i had was the gjall if i forgot to use a fire resistance potion
only time i died as a mage so far was when i killed myself with a troll summon
pretty unfortunate
I think lot of people would disagree there.
i'm going to give that a try in my current runs, then ๐
Just mine the muddy scrap piles in the sunken crypts and you're good.
Just be aware that some crypts may have more of those piles than others.
But with some "luck" you may be able to find scrap in chests as well.
Honestly mining the scrap iron outside crypts is far more hassle than they're worth.
That's why I didn't mention that.
It did come in handy today though when I just needed 2 for a stonecutter and didn't want to go through setting up stone portals. Grabbed the wishbone and had a couple in a few minutes.
Stone portals?
Oh, for the odd two I'm sure it's OK.
Um, forget you saw that. ๐
You make them with materials from the seventh biome, donโt worry about them for now
Ashland portal. They got some nice additions to the wooden ones.
You'll see when you get there.
real vikings use ships
๐
Have you been to Ashlands yet?
You're only a real viking if you use that ship to sail from your main area towards the swamp base and back.
You're not a real viking when you destroy your ship, pick up the mats, portal to the swamp and put it back together over there.
IKEA was not a thing when the vikings travelled along the European coasts.
I mean, they literally invented Ikea.
I dunno about that.
AFAIK they never bought an Scottish castle, took it apart and rebuild it somewhere in the USA.
I'm
So
Tired
Of
Trolls
FOLLOWING ME
FOR ETERNITY!
They canโt follow you if you kill them
They also would stop following you if you decide to wait a while in a burial chamber.
...then boom all of a sudden I had a different problem!
vaguely related, going into or out of a dungeon does NOT remove ticks. XD
Like ones that are already attached to you?
Same with portals.
I was going to say that but Derek was faster.
Cool. There is one other creature that can go through a portal. ๐
Opens up the possibility of a pet tick.
so i can technically keep pet ticks? just bring them through my portal?
so pet tick zoo when?
Well, they'll still be attached to you so... I'm not sure how great that would be.
Was it the wrong channel?
#screenshots message
just curious on steam can i run the game without having steam client running?
yes. you guys where hijacking screenshot channel
I wrote another channel description and added a cooldown timer to prevent it from being hijacked
there is a time and place for things
Ah, my apologies
With how shallow the water is in the Ashlands, I feel like it'd be a perfect place for recreating Mother Base, at least, without relying on a Leviathan
Imagine a world where you can cut down a pine tree without having 8 brute and a troll showingup
use the troll to cut the tree down for u while u deal with those brutes ;p
is there a channel for base design/build help
#building-tips or #building-discussion maybe?
I love that each boss you defeat makes another biome wander the Meadows. Makes for pretty intresting conflicts.
Fulings fighting a pack of greydwarves then skellys shoot em in the back!
Also a slow drip of black metal is super nice
and even slower for iron scraps from Oozers (orange blob) when you smell foul stench from swamp
All ores are also rare drops from various fish.
I heard about that, but fishing is at lvl 4 . Will have to seriously train it and devise a fishing strategy.
So far I got more fishes by finding them stuck on land or in shallow water then by fishing
I should've taken advantage of the loophole of setting my wood log stacks on fire so I could instantly turn them into coal while I had the chance
I did it! I killed a bitch!
Finally killed a troll. Only took me 15 fire arrows, 3 deaths, and 4 years off my life
Do charred skulls and pot shards respawn?
You mean pickable ones? If they work similarly as other pickables they should, but haven't tried.
i wouldn't expect them to.
pickable branches, shrooms and dandelions respawn because they're organic things.
flint respawns because it gets washed up on shores.
pickable bone fragments, stones and treasures however don't respawn.
not that these are rules - mistlands shrooms don't respawn despite being organic, to incentivize cultivating them.
I'm feeling a PTB release this week.
My PTB sense is tingling. Maybe it's just indigestion.
I couldโve sworn I saw them respawn, but maybe Iโm just crazy lol. Iโll keep a closer watch, try and get to the bottom of it.
I'm 99% sure mistlands shrooms respawn.
(about shards and skulls) i haven't tested, so i really don't know, just going by the patterns i doubt they respawn.
the shards at least, i could imagine skulls being justified
there was even a patch that made sure to remove their pickable "object" once they've been picked because it cluttered instances for no benefit as they'd never respawn
the ones you find in the wild and the ones you plant are iirc even the same object. if they respawned, so would the ones you plant
edit: just remembered, that's almost exactly why it was patched, because they both used (and still do use) the same object, each harvest of cultivated shrooms would leave behind the "ghosts" of all shrooms you harvested - a persistent pickable object that never respawns, which would do absolutely nothing but slightly add to the amount of instances.
5 acorns from one oak tree, itโs my lucky day ๐
did some testing to confirm it (and yes, i spawned the correct pickables, all of these actually only had one pickable each, no respawning and one-time distinction)
Those are non container items I think, once picked they're gone
yepp, most of them at least
some pickables do respawn, the minority of the variety, but those few do make up the ones you see most (branches, dandelions, red/yellow mushrooms, etc.)
(i forgot to add some context: the find command can detect a respawning pickable even when it isn't currently "present", because the invisible object itself remains. non-respawning pickables (usually, magecaps and jotun puffs once were an unintentional exception to this, but that's been fixed since) completely delete themselves once picked so find won't find anything)
do we know anything about the upcoming update other than the swamp stuff
I guess it might be like hildir's request
an npc in the swamp and some qol
judging by the blog it looked like there's a few minor model and texture overhauls too, at least as far as i remember
Fader in singleplayer is a nightmare
He is supposed to be harder than earlier bosses, but it is still very doable solo. New magic stuff makes the fight much easier.
You gotta learn to dance around his attacks
What weapons you using?
Melee, ranged, magic?
melee, already beat him but it took about an hour
I love Jade Berserkir Axes against him. Get him rooted and move behind and keep hitting.
Does anyone know when the game is most likely to go on sale next?
are wolf bites still slash damage?
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Wolf Yes, 70 slash.
Probably to stop the root harnesk from being more op than it already is.
You'd never know what damage type it is without using it anyway
also is it worth looking for 2 star wolfs to breed? is it a big step up from the normal ones in damage and is it worth to spend the time an resources
right
I don't think so, but others might disagree
i just checked and 0 star wolves do 70 damage while 2 star wolves do 140
i think ill try getting the 2 star wolf but when it becomes to much of a hustle ill just go with the 1 star ones
they are nice to have as base defense but not necessary at all ๐
Yeah, was just about to recommend those - the jade axes is just so good against him!
Once immobile Fader is so much easier to deal with โค๏ธโ๐ฅ
will there ever be a a way to change your eye colour also did i say that right
some helmets/head pieces change it ๐
Mods.
I play with an npc mod that letโs you become an elf
Get greenish yellow eyes instead of light blue
i want to play without mods so its easier to play with friends
Not sure of any other eye mods honestly
The base eye color is always blue but the shade of it changes a bit when you change your color skin - with darker skin you have darker eyes.
Afternoon gjall.
Hi, im reallt sorry to bother u guys but im stuck and i dont know what to do after killing the first boss :c
I really need help on what to do next? where do i find the next boss or whatsoever?
Find a black forest biome and mine some ore with the pickaxe you can craft now, then Hugin will explain the rest.
pickaxe?
Eikthyr drops antlers which are used to craft the first pickaxe.
spoilers! ๐คฃ
the fun is the exploring you do on your own ๐
even more fun when you do nomap and hardmode
only recommended if you've 'finished' at least once
IM SO LOSTTT
Ugh... Me no like xD
it can be fun, making landmarks, cartographing on your own, preparing base, mapping resources
if you're lost and aren't intentionally trying to force yourself to only learn in-game the wiki is very helpful https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Valheim_Wiki
BUT I KILLED THE FIRST BOSS AND
You can check any previously read tutorial messages from a menu accessed with a button in the top right of the inventory screen

Try this #valheim-chat message
the biomes are arranged in an intended linear progression (getting the armor & weapons made from the new resources of each generally speaking will prepare you to face the enemies of the next biome); the biome progression is Meadows > Black Forest > Swamp > Mountain > Plain > Mistland > Ashland; each boss will drop something that unlocks either getting to the next biome, being able to do something in it, or just navigating around it
ah, it can take a bit of hunting--the bosses tend to spawn further and further out from spawn
but it's very randomized
Perhaps you should lean back for a while and watch this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IAMPr9kytfk&list=PLl_Xou7GtCi70kbZkGTt84OBuVYSCjKlN
But be aware of the spoilers it has.
You can find a vegvisir which will place a marker on your map in various locations around the black forest biome
Don't worry about the boss for now, try to get better equipment and other upgrades first
not necessarily further and further, you just need to explorethe black forest untill you see a stone with red circle on it, like the one that showed you Eikthyr on spawn
you can count on them being in the biome type they're for--i.e. you will find the 2nd boss in a black forest--beyond that the best way to find them besides just randomly bumping into a location exploring the new biome is to look for the vegvisir which look like little rocks with red circular runes on them, they'll reveal the closest boss location; but as blobi said, you first priority each time you enter a new biome to make bosses & enemies more manageable will be acquiring the new biome resources to make equipment, critically armor
Okay thank youu
same, seeing the map fill out more and more is so satisfying!
The raven is asking me to get surtling cores?
The message should include some extra information on where to find them
beneath the earth core?
You will need those for a fast travel system.
They're found in certain crypts in the Black Forrest.
or more efficiently, the corpses of surtlings @pliant hatch ๐
Explore a black forest until you find some skeletons. They usually spawn around burial chambers where these cores can be found.
True, but that's not relevant for the one asking the question.
So better not point him / her into that direction yet.
LOL, no you're 100% correct, joke was more of you/those in the know lol
Which are likely everyone having that kind of farm in the rainy biome.
Including me in my current playthrough.
So its beside the caves?
I have already found one
Go inside the burial chamber and search for glowing cubes.
Thank you i will be going now
Heyy!! i found 3 cores
efficient!
Thank you guyss
you'll need at least 5, ideally 10, for the next step
What do i do now?
Get enough cores to build a smelter/charcoal kiln to smelt copper and tin to make new items
How do i buuld it
5 cores and 20 stone
why is it not showing in my work bench
It's a build piece
Ouu
You can break a smelter or charcoal kiln to get the materials back and rebuild it as the other piece
do i make a shelter first orrr kiln
Killn first to get coal, you need the coal to put in the smelter.
Make the kiln to create coal for smelting. Two coal and one ore is needed for one bar.
awesome!
such progress! ๐ฎ ๐
Vegvisirs are always nice to find, good luck finding the one for the plains boss though.
you cant always do this but finding a broken down tower in the forest and using that to shoot arrows from up high helps a lot, keeps u from getting hit while giving u free shots on the troll. also eating foods that give u the highest health possible are good to fight trolls cause u can parry them with a decent enough buckler/shield and a high enough block skill
they often are found in the "dungeons" for each biome
ya but not for the plains boss
Time to spend all day building a 2-star Asksvin ranch ๐ช
So how do shields decide your stagger? Is it a mic of health and block force? Cuz just on a whim I tried the tower shield and I don't like it, cuz it's clunky, but I was absolutely not staggering at all
you have the block armor of a shield + the number in parentheses, which is the number thats added from your skill progression. then you take the parry modifier (if youre trying to parry) and multiply it by the total block armor, and then add on 40% of your hp. thats the dmg u can block with a parry before it starts to dip into your stagger bar
if youre not parrying, you dont include the parry bonus multiplier
so true
if you mean staggering enemy ya, that's parry-based, and you can't do with tower shields specifically
I meant it as in it was barely staggering ME
if you mean the player getting staggered, it happens when you take too much damage relative to HP, so having high HP reduces the chance of stagger but also having high armor and successfully parrying will as well--you might notice when you're hit a little bar that pops up and fills with red/orange that quickly decays, that's the stagger meter
so you can be staggered, too, not just by one big hit, but several hits in succession if cumulatively big enough in a short enough time frame
I was just asking when the stagger bar fills is all. I understand now. Health plays a huge part into the value. I was just saying I tested a tower shield and was like "wow they can't touch me"
yeah the tower shield's high block force shines for big groups of mobs, not only does it just let you wall and block most of the damage without worrying about parrying, but it makes it much harder for the group to stagger you with cumulative attacks breaking your guard
talking about them getting staggered. not enemies
it sacrifices parrying to do that--and parrying is super useful offensively because it increased the damage you to do enemies besides also the temporary stun from staggering
THANK YOUU
Whats that?
The red carved stone you found that showed you the boss location.
the plains one is just notoriously rare
(Assuming the question was about vegvisrs)
can you still glitch into a cypt door
Vegvisir is the name for the stone with the red markings on it that show the boss on the map.
it may not even be actually more rare statistically for all I know, it's just become a community meme that it's more common to just randomly happen upon a plains boss location before finding the Vegvisir for it
Yeah, at least it feels that way, I bet there are as much vegvisirs for yagluth than for the other bosses, they are just not found in a easy to find dungeon.
Not sure. There are many burial chambers in a good sized black forest. You're lucky if one good sized plains even has a henge, and then lucky again if that henge has a vegvisr.
yeah it'd be an interesting math/stat crunching exercise, to see if it's actually a reflection of the code, but my anecdotal experience definitely lines up with it being more rare
I don't think i even saw a henge until long after i found the boss location, which I found just hunting around the plains for villages and other POI LIKE a boss location or henge
there simply are more opportunities for a dungeon wegvisisr to spawn compared to overworld structure ones
my gut is that's probably true
Can't the vegvisir be in a fuling village as well?
We could actually check quite easily with world viewer, turn everything off but vegvisir for yagluth and count and then check for other vegvisirs.
Hii! i have made the kiln what do i do noww
good point--wiki also claims "a vegvisir may be found sometimes near a Fuling Village or next to a stonehenge-type rock formation" but I don't think i've ever seen one in a village actually
They're not more rare, just harder to find.
the kiln will turn wood into coal, so i suggest filling it up with wood and then go mine some ores in the black forest ^^
you need to make enough coal with it to smelt what you need @past hill tbh if you haven't acquired much tin or copper ore yet, you probs need to go harvest some of that next, to fill the smelter
I've done 30+ villages in my world and don't remember finding one, but I also can't trust my memory. It's a long standing world.
I need to use coal to smelt the copper right?
yes, the smelter has 2 input slots, one for coal and one for ores
ooo ok tysmmm!
one little headsup about copper: those rocks extend quite a bit below the surface. There will be a lot more than what you can see above ground! ๐
by the end of today zy gonna be like: "where do I find an extractor?"
oh yeah copper that's a uniquely important hint that otherwise I don't know one would easily know @fair kindle looking back on it, I probs left SO much copper in the ground and made the grind SO much worse for myself not even knowing this!
with so many copper nodes all over the place i never bother to dig it all out anymore... i mark the place in case there is not a lot on my starter Island but otherwise i just mine what iis on top (with the help of trolls sometimes) and carry on. all that digging around and down feels like real grind to me
there is usually enough copper to just mine the surface and be done and go of exploring more interesting stuff
i did the exact same in my very first run, haha
I have done that in every run except the one i learned about them extending ddown
but boy that is a chore to dig it all up... na hot for me...
you also dont need a whole lot of copper. it quickly gets replaced in the next biome. i made a copper buckler and a copper pickaxe and thats it, i was fine with just those two items. plus whatever copper you need for crafting stations
I just explode 2 copper nodes and normally I'll have enough for that part, since I never make bronze armor, I always go for troll leather.
I owe them some payback from my first playtrough.
@warm sandal see if anything that's the exact opposite for me, now that know how much is typically submerged, I find one, maybe a second nearby, and that's all the copper I need to advance to the next biome
troll leather is goated early
Late in the run with all the other sources I'm drowning in copper. I took apart a number of mines and abandoned dvergr structures for black marble when I did my big mistlands tower build, and they all give copper.
i usually make the bronze axe, and mace and buckler and nothing else... i go with the antler pickaxes until i got iron ๐
exactly
not even the freaking mace maybe, but to be sure the axes, the buckler, you're set
I prefer seeing more landscape instead of digging deep ๐
lol fair
ya i forgot i also did the axe for slightly increased deforestation.
for finewood that is the reason... the only reason to make it ๐
ya
i usually enlist the help of trolls for deforestation... more fun that way
I do that for beehives, I like the have 25 of them, at least.
i usually just run logs into each other for early fine wood tho
i usually have portals up before i even get my bronze axe
yeah but it's nice to not have to work around that eventually, and it even works as late as the swamp trees
I wished trolls could help with defenestration but alas.
How to get anything higher than level 3 workshop
you have to build crafting station upgrades, and place them within a certain radius of the workstation
find items that u need for more workstation upgrades
progress through the biomes to get more ressources and it shall fall in place
Same here, I either bump trees or go annoy a troll and lure it back to some trees that give finewood.
I usually shy away from everything that smells even faintly like boring repetetive grind ๐ so no extensiv mining beyond what i think i need, no hauling metals all over the landscape, no digging deep no taming stuff ๐
exactly, who needs a bronze axe when youve got braincells lol. no need to be the brawn when u can be the brain
each crafting station upgrade increases the level by one
if you've found leather scraps, deer hides and grabbed any flint, the recipes for the first two upgrades will be unlocked in your hammer menu. The third will be unlocked when you've made a bronze ingot at a forge
I also get my finewood bow asap and the moment I have bronze nails I'll get myself an abyssal razor.
ive been trying to find a leviathan, cant find one. somehow made it all the way to the mistlands biome and had to gtfo as soon as i realized it, still couldnt find one
they can be very random
found one super super early, but i was getting chased by a serpent and didnt have time to mark it on my map
havent found it again
im just tryna get the fuckin harpoon lol
I usually struggle most lately with finding Haldors Sister... ๐
i found her pretty easily on accident while making my way to bonemass
and then i randomly stumbled upon a miniboss that had one of her chests
LUL
didnt realize it was a howling cavern rather than a frost cave, so i went in fully expecting just to deal with some cultists and a few ulvs here and there... got my ass handed to me by the whateverthefuckitscalled
lol
didnt have good enough food items on me at the time to properly parry it
Hah, Geirrhafa got you ๐
i usually collect the chests until i got a decent base with fortifications... three extra raids to be happening when you do not need them is a bit of a bummer
ya that thing. and then like 2 days later i got raided by the mountain biome and one of them was in the raid lmfao
indeed
the raids do only kick in if you bring them chests back ... so i store them and when i am ready to deal with the raids i give them back to her
i thought raids were based on day progression
Is this a real Valheim channel from dev etc etc or is it another private Valheim channel that an private person made?
i am talking about the raids you get by doing the minibosses... you do not get them if you do not take the chests back to Hildir
if you take a gander off to your right.. you see a list of developers in the moderator list
you can clear the dungeons and kill the stuff
Huh? This is the official server, yes.
@wide cove
oh I thought killing the miniboss triggered the raid whether you took the chest back or not
It does.
nope it does not... it is triggerd by taking the chests back
oh. this whole time i thought that the difficulty (biome) of the raid was based off day progression. and i feel like it partially is cause i got mountain raided even before i took the first chest to her. i had a bunch of drakes attacking me at my base
I did test it out... i got the chests stored in a box with my Astrid Charakter it has been there for a loooooong time she is Ashlands tier... and i never got the raids never
@vocal rivet then why does noone know how to fix issues?
And Darha plz stop your are not funny at all im guessing your a kid.
Fix what issues?
i made one joke, if you didnt like it then ok. my bad. but im not a kid ๐
my bad i hurt your feelings by making a harmless joke
I am talking specifically about the miniboss raids you get by doing Hildirs Quests... all the other raids like "Cold wind from the mountain" are a different thing, they occur on the base of what boss you killed or other happenstances
ah ok that makes sense
i thought u meant like later biome raids in general. i was like nah now way ๐
@vocal rivet cant connect to my friends server he is hosting i did connect to it yesterday and had no issues at all
i didnt realize that raids were day progression based, so i was just chillin makin my base on like day 180 something and freaked out when i saw the cold wind message pop up lmao
if you kill Bonemass you get "you are being hunted" if you kill yagluth you get "they sought you out" every boss unlocks the next bioms main raid
you're*
@stray island you'd have to have killed Bonemass, unless that's a buy i hadn't enoucntered
How are you connecting? Dedicated server? Is it crossplay?
the raids are not day progression based, the days you have at that world have no impact on them, only the bosses and mobs you killed have impact on them
oh. idk then, i could have sworn i got mountain raided for the first time before doing the moder fight
id have to go back and look at my footage tho. could be wrong
you could ... becaus the mountain raids to unlock with killing bonemass first "you are being hunted" Moder unlocks "the horde attacks"
i did kill a bunch of mountain mobs tho including the miniboss so maybe thats why?
so you get mountain raids once you start doing mountain stuff
exactly--you don't even need to visit a mountain, you unlock the mountain raids, the moment you kill bonemass
@vocal rivet we both play on Xbox and yesterday it did work perfectly but today i keep getting connection failed and it cant be internet because we are talking on Discord as i type here
funnily enough, once you kill moder you DISABLE the boss specific (drakes) raid, and then start getting the NEXT boss specific raid (goblins)
that is why i do make extra sure to have my stuff tied down and base defendedd BEFORE i kill Bonemass... those wolves are mercyless if you do not have defences ๐
mountain raid "A cold wind blows from the mountains." is triggered by killing bonemass and disabled by killing moder, the "You are being hunted..." is enabled also by killing bonemass but it can not be dissabled
but there are a few 'parallel' raids you'll keep once unlocked, LIKE the wolves
Do you have the correct join code?
the 'you're being hunted raid' once unlocked after killing bonemass, stays forever--and that one specifically triggers when NOT near base
Yea i do
for more info ----> https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Events
well i killed moder like 2 days ago and still havent gotten a fuling raid, i keep getting mountain raids and swamp raids. i ended up just disabling raids after that tho cause i was tired of them killing all the wildlife around and making all my shit lag from the entities on the ground
it's very rando
i'll get like bat raids and skeleton raids constantly even though I'm in Ashlands
@vocal rivet yea i do
thats crazy then lmao i must have gotten super lucky, ive never gotten raided by wolves. just drakes
Wolf raid only happens in Plains and Mountains.
Some raids donโt get disabled.
@nocturne wolf yeah I said that, i was answering you still get "older" raids, because it just randomly selects among this growing pool of potential raids
It's a shame there's not a website with all this information on it...
lucky indeed...they can be death fairly quickly if they catch you on the wrong foot
ya for sure. whenever i go into the mountains i always eat my highest rated food just in case lmao
I kinda wish you could get wolves in other older biomes too to keep the threat up in later progress (by the time you can get wolves raid, you're probably not any LESS prepared for the raid in a lower level biome)--that does explain though why it's NOT more common, because being able to spawn in even more biomes and when you're NOT near base would probably make it super common, maybe the most often encountered
Why haven't they made it? Bad devs clearly
its a shame no one posted link to it few messages ago
Technically they didn't.
they are nasty enough in the plains...
lol, they're nasty to the unprepared period, to be sure--the one silver lining of plains is maybe the damn deathsquitos will have something else to harass for once
in the swamp that raid would be a nightmare
I had a wolf raid near a fuling camp, which made it a lot easier
mine was on a tar pit...
The loxes can help quite a bit, too.
honestly, swamp would be pretty easy because you could just hop up on a tree or other obstacle the wolves won't pathfind up nearly as easily, and between the water and leeches you could probably use the terrain to your advantage quite effectively
if everyone just went to the wiki then there would be no need for a discussion or help chat in the discord. why hang out in these channels if ur just gonna get upset that ppl are asking questions xd
Not remotely true. The Wiki can't answer every question.
the wiki also lacks personal experience or specific guidance
also, "just go to the wiki"/"just google it" answers reek of passive agression tbh
yep, however, when there is a need to explain a certain mechanic and wiki has it pretty clearly sorted out in a table... why would we not link it
youre the one that i was talking to lol. why just keep telling ppl to go to the wiki when theyre asking questions here. for specific stats and fact checking, sure. but discussion channels are here for a reason lmao
I'd never say just Google it. We're better than that.
Probably because discussion in question WAS about fact checking.
"its a shame theres not a website with all this information on it"
the issue is, the information being given out was correct, and ppl were having a normal conversation. and then youre like passive aggressively telling ppl to just look it up and stop asking questions lmao
I never said stop asking questions. Don't put words into my mouth.
if someone says to fuck off, the words "leave me alone" werent spoken. but the message got across anyway lol
Y'all rather than crafting a spear i decided to use flint knife and this is so fun to use and so useful LOL
Yeah it is real fun ๐
the knife is fun, fast attack speed and nice sneak attack damage. only trade off imo that isnt fun is the super low range on it
Oh, somebody just boosted the server xD
yuh
I js slayed the troll cuz of special attack
Yeahh i kinda quit a platform that triggered my bpd everytime i entered so i made a decision and quit
?
wym by ?
something about triggering your bpd and a platform being related to boosting the server, im just confused
I was boosting that server previously so i js decide to boost this one because valheim became addicting
oh
So just got to bronze age and was gonna start doing a bit of farming since I found some carrot seeds and also need some more trees nearby. Any tips or advice to make farming easier and/or look better?
Yeahh sorry if i did a little trauma dump ๐ญ
protect your crops with like stone walls/picket fences or something so that mobs dont destroy them, and make a big area so that you can farm everything at a reasonable rate. use the hoe to make a large flat area and then cultivate it. thats my only advice, someone else might have something else beyond that
for making it look better: don't worry about having a perfect/most efficient distance between plants, that already can help a lot ๐
putting a fence around your field and an archway over the entrance also is a nice touch ^^
Do mobs actually beat up crops?
they do as far as i know. could be wrong
I used to use 1x1 floor tiles to get good spacing. Make a checkered pattern with the tiles, and plant in the middle of the empty spaces
I was thinking of that. Just seemed inefficient, but I guess efficient and pretty don't live together haha
just looked it up, yes they do attack crops
Wow, that must take up a lot of space. Guaranteed to work though, I guess.
yeah, takes more time initially, but its a huge pain saver later
if youre wanting to make everything look super uniform then u can do that, but youre missing out on a lot of usable space
Guarantees that you dont plant too close on accident and waste crops as a result
every single crop (not including saplings) have a pretty small range that they need to be healthy, u can cramp em up pretty tight and still be fine
I was about to ask how much space they need? Like could you fit 4 in a 1x1 space?
i use the mod "FarmGrid"
What builds stop monsters spawning nearby? workbenches? Anything else?
ill put a screenshot in #valheim-help
ew, mods
just wanted to say that xD
it makes crops snap to each other and perfectly spaces them out--quality of life mods are nice, the game is MOSTLY perfect, but tweaking a few visuals or making things that are otherwise grindy without changing balance is the way to go IMO
See, this is where I'd point to the Player Base wiki page. But apparently that's passive aggressive.
lololololol
Anyone? ๐ฆ
I figure I could outline a space with tiles and then line each end up for a general layout. Might help look more uniform
I know for a fact workbenches do
Anything on this list. https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Player_base
campfires, workbenches, anything classified as a "player base" item like @vocal rivet alluded to
campfires are IMO the most efficient, 5 stone, 2 wood, and they don't draw aggro like most other spawnblocking items (unless player is around, then mobs will attack any nearby structure if they can't reach the player)
Thanks
Even if they're not lit?
even then
And as for my aversion to mods, It's a combo of me having played the game since the Elder was the first boss, and my idea that it's just doesn't seem right to mod a game that is pre-1.0
nothing against people who do use them tho
I remember the stone pickaxe lol
Gaming is about enjoying the game you play, be it custom or vanilla, as long as you're having fun that is what is important.
you really don't even need them, the game is that good, I just find some small touches like that reduce time I spend on boring things I prefer to make as efficient as possible
ye i dont use most mods unless ive played a game for a while and its gotten repetitive without them, but qol mods are always welcome imo. unless youre playing with a group then i play modless all the way
like mine are all minor enough and client-side, I've been able to join servers no problem without a conflict
and that's totally fair. just as long as you aren't one of those folks who blame the game Devs for broken mods after an update lol
how dare they change things in an unfinished game
having just one more person playing with you rather than solo cuts off like upwards of 50% of time, if not more, spent on moving/collecting resources and building structures so if youre playing solo then qol mods feel very nice
I usually like to play as a group of 3, so myself with 2 friends. I find that to be the perfect balance
i wish my friends would play, theyre too busy playing other games that they recently found lol
one friend was gonna get on last night and play and help tame wolves and shit but then i ended up going to bed early cause gf had a bad day lmao
Thankfully I have a couple of IRL friends who play with me regularly. I host a server for us on my mini-pc server, so any of us can hop on at any time. We've all agreed to only fight bosses when we're all online tho.
i live in wyoming, the only ppl i know irl other than my gf, and my brother that only plays apex, are crackheads lol
yikes
bunch of crack/meth heads and mine workers that are sleeping if theyre not at work
I'm off in Oregon, in the Willamette Valley area. Out of the big cities, but not middle of nowhere. It's a nice place all things considered
ye
fam is from there--can vouch, a beautiful place with beautiful people
Do my tamed mobs gain love points together if im not near them?
either we get 1-2 days with snow, or 4 feet of snow in a week. depends on the year
@royal tendon i think you have to be close enough to have the area loaded, like 64m at of you at lesat
@vocal rivet is there a spot on the wiki that has something about this?
aha
"The area is active (any player within ~64 meters, exact distance depends on the underlying zone system)."
I heard the cub will be born as soon as i re enter the area, even if away for a whilr
Should be. Perhaps it needs to be more explicit, I don't know.
I haven't dealt with breeding tamed animals in a while, so I'm clueless on this topic lol
only something that i see 7/12 months here
the passage of time for certain mechanics does seem odd--like sleeping for instance skipping ahead in time to sunrise does seem to progress any ongoing smelting process (I assume the same amount as time skipped to get to next sunrise, but I haven't checked the specifics that closely), but to the best of my knowledge it WON'T add an equal amount of time to taming timer even if they were just fed when you sleep, it just makes them hungry again
sleeping will mess up the taming counter
Yeah, i thought so, but i was talking about breeding
i think mobs tame in chunks, so you'll lose progress on that chunk
basically all timers in the game remember the time they started and then calculate on demand how much time has passed since then, which means skipping time through sleep and stuff will work accurately, even if the area wasn't loaded in.
taming is the one exception, since it relies on other factors beyond just being a timer
egg hatching ignores sleeping, if i recall. it's realt ime for both hatching and growing to adulthood.
would make sense since egg hatching also requires heat
i spent a lot of time hatching/growing asksvin, and set timers on my phone a bunch
if something's more than a flat timer, it tends to work differently
30 minutes to hatch with heat, 50 minutes to grow to adulthood. but you don't need to be present. just check-in at each point
and your boss buff timer ๐ญ
the mechanics are interesting on that, yeah
true, timers on a player also don't adhere to this ๐ (includes all buffs iirc)
also health regen
health regen is per tick but for some reason doesnt heal u while u sleep
I think some things use separate timers (like the player stat stuff, hence why it doesn't restore as many ticks as you'd expect--probs generally, back to 100%--from as much time passes during sleep) but for a lot of stuff it just does shat @plush umbra says, next time timer is relevant (i.e. next time you're in the area) it takes the initial time and then subtracts that from the current 'global' (the actual 'time of day' and number of days passed in game) to figure out how much time has passed and then applies effects accordingly
like I've noticed if it replant a whole field of crops, leave, then come back some number of in game days later, the field will look the same as I left it (just freshly planted), wait a few seconds after I step through portal, then the whole field at once will 'pop' to its final fully grown state
I didn't see this corrected. Sleeping will absolutely advance smelting by the amount of time skipped by sleeping. Sleep close to your smelter and you'll hear it speed up.
he said it "does". so you didn't correct him, you just stated the same thing
Oops, sorry. Misread the "does".
yeah some things it progresses, and others it doesn't, in the way you'd expect if everything followed the same 'global' timer that was accelerated by sleeping--smelting definitely is one of those things that 'jumps' in progress from sleeping (i.e. seems is tied to that 'global' timer for its progress) but some things seem like they're not, like taming progress
breeding love points seems like another, at least based upon wiki, you need a player close enough to actively load the area the tames are in
yes, love points require a player nearby
they happen pretty quickly i've noticed, however. even just "normal" amount of main base loitering pumps out eggs/babies pretty fast
In the vein, anyone know if sleeping advances crop age?
yep it does speed it up
why is it hard to find someone to play with
Most people play solo or with friends.
all the damn time we gotta spend in labor to just maintain an ostensibly basic human existence, probably @forest mulch jokes aside, https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 if you haven't already found it, I found a server with cool people in less than 24 hours, I think that's a good place to find a server or one or a few people to start one with
I'm pretty hesitant to join someone I dont know, too easy for someone to just come in and ruin your world, and probably how others feel about just inviting any random person.
The ARK factor
yeah I wouldn't get TOO attached to any builds on a world I cannot save a copy of myself
Although I can see both arguments to mod use, the limits with using them in cross platform games (though that also just requires something like mod.io added to the game) I am thankful they exist. Servers are able to protect their users far easier, Azu's Anticheat, Server Characters, and Betterwards allow many servers to invite anyone without risk of the bad eggs.
The other option is just trusting people or inviting those you trust.
Black Forest has a sign that says you will die if you come in here too early but is there a location that physically locks you out of going there before you beat a certain boss
crypts in swamps, you can get there only by a glitch before killing elder
Hey guys any tips to make vertical storage rooms?
i can't send screenshots but i wanna show what im doing rn
But you can go to the swamp itself right
yep
@light drift yes, you're not TECHNICALLY hard locked from any of the biomes, though it can be effectively close--and going into even the 'next' biome is typically challenging, practically suicide any later ones
I sent it any tips for making a storage?
boots up new world
GIVE ME THE ASHLANDS
honestly you can stack just the regular wooden chests 4 high and be able to reach from the ground floor, and thus you can fit all the storage you'll really need for the early even into mid game, with just basic wood chests, in a pretty small footprint, all just on one floor, if you're space-efficient
You might want to consider changing the wood doors for gates so there isnโt a beam of wood between them
i know but like idk
you can overlap wooden chests a lot. then put some 1x1 ontop, and do another row. and then another row
You could rotate chests sideways to fit more next to each other, although youโll have less room to add signs.
ill try to do it seems confusing ๐ญ
here's an ugly version, that shows what i mean: #screenshots message
appreciated
i have... a lot of chests in my kitchen room
Make some black metal chests
chests in the kitchen can be lowered to floor level
i have 3 or 4 black metal chests in the floor
4 i think. but i have lots of ingredients before i felt like using black metal for chests
i tend to control the amount of reserves i have
i dont need a 4th stack of mage caps etc
i'm not happy unless i have close to 20 stacks of anything. i have a problem
things i can grow is easy. i only have a couple stacks of fiddleheads for example, and i hate it
i mean, i also tend to have 1-2 stacks of every dish of the current progression tier...
i don't know why i have 30 stacks of boar meat. BUT YOU NEVER KNOW
thats down to 2...
with farming i just would keep replanting constantly. so i built up 30+ stacks of anything i can farm. i've calmed down a bit
yeah... i dont hoard like that
i do get enjoyment from farms. but yeah, it's not necessary
that's how I know when it's time to switch--when navigating around and retrieving stuff from the boxes starts being inconvenient
i need to go get more black metal actually. it's on my todo list.
i finally made some flametal armor and thundering weapons last night. i've been mage only in ashlands, but i'll go try out that gear in the plains next time i think
So I'm super hyped for 'The Spill' Tomorrow!
Hm?
Coffee Stain is doing what is essentially a mini-E3 with all thier develoupers
Ah, very good.
News on Valheim, Goat sim, Sato--factor-Re
Just spend a night or two in the Plains, it's crazy quick to get stacks of it. Especially if you're in Ashlands gear.
i have a portal at the sealed tower, which i never did the top couple floors. and it's near a village. i'll see how much i get from that first, but yeah, good idea
the villages also tend to have an extra stack ofr two in the chests
Raiding fuling villages never gets old, no matter how far you have progressed.
it's funny that i think the root harnesk is still better than flametal breastplate in the plains
what boss comes after moder?
Yagluth
the plains boss?
Yes
can i join someone?
I gotchu
yes
Mistlands mobs are aids, maybe I have treated the Plains too harshly haha
Any tips on how to maneuver the infested mines?
gear wise too
Don't fall in.
Maneuver slow, always know the way out in case you need to sprint away
what about food. 2 hp and 1 stamina?
Thatโs my go to, yeah
Because I find myself face tanking a lot of hits
Make some lingering stamina mead, itโs really useful!
If you see a starred soldier, donโt be afraid to take some time and cheese it with arrows ๐
I couldn't tell you. I play a lil' twisted version, v-hard combat w/ epic loot mod.
Yeah i'm out of arrows gonna have to farm hella feathers
Do you have chickens yet? Farm them for a while, youโll get valuable meat and feathers!
Something it took me a while to catch onto: ooze bombs. Soften up or kill the ticks and seekers behind the barriers before you break them open.
How good is the demolisher for dealing with infested mines? I didnt build it on my first playthrough because i didnt feel like getting 200000 iron but on my next playthrough i'm going to suck every crypt dry
I'm also wondering what item is the best for Gjall hunting
1 egg is 1500 coins, I got some farming to do
there's an egg in the sealed tower, or the Hildir plains boss, dont let that cheapskate scam you
I usually have thousands of spare coins by that time
From killing fuhlings or what? I seem to struggle with money management in valheim lol
Burial chambers and sunken crypts, if you take all the shinies you can get a decent amount.
huh i usually do but i guess im missing half of my rubies and shit because my first world is so disorganized lol
There are also large amounts in the infested mines, so after one or two you may have enough.
I feel like the sealed tower would be hard at this stage
Sealed towers are balanced for plains-tier equipment and food
what's your gear at? Are you at plains level?
Yeah I'm
that's when I did the sealed tower for the first time, and yes it is hard but as long as you have barley wine and potions you should be okay. I did fine though I did die once or twice because I got cocky lol
i have that problem i am too cocky for my own good
Trying to join a server with my friend on pc when I join him it just shows connecting doesn't let me put in the password and if he tries to join me it let's him put in the password but just stays on connecting anyone know what might be going on it's vanilla no mods btw just wondering if anyone might know something been looking around can't find anything

somebody wants to play with me on my server from the beginning?
surely someone in #1024264966712340510 ๐
oo thx
lol okay, big brothering fulings with ashlands gear is fun. and now i've got plenty of black metal
Just got fired, so it's time to viking some unfortunate souls
I feel like I absolutely have to make a chest for every individual item. You try to mix stuff of similar taste and you immediately run out
I've seen people with what looked like stacked chests? Were they hanging in walls? I don't understand
you put one chest, then put floor conected to the wall just above it and put another chest on it ๐ rinse and repete
how far do greydwarfs chase damn i must of ran 5 miles and they were still on me lol
They will even swim after you when you reach the end of the land
They follow forever ๐ญI feel you. The swarms!
Everything is so heavy ๐
i always end up making some shelves that way, haha
every mob gives up when they can't make an attack after a certain amount of time. because greydwarfs will also throw rocks, they tend to be able to keep on you longer
Yeah i usually settle only on 2 lines, one on the floor and one above it ๐
i end up with 4 levels of chests lol. but i have a problem
i generally end up with 3, it depends on how high the ceiling is xD
Well when someone makes a chest for every item Its not really suprising xD
you mean i don't need 3 chests of dandilions?! that's crazy talk. you expect me to feed my chickens seeds? I only have 2 chests of each seed, that i'm not even planting
don't get me started on the 3 chests of eggs and 3 chests of chicken meat.
so i don't know why i'm feeding my chickens anyways
I think dandilions are good to keep around ๐ค
3 chests is an insane amount of dandelions ๐ even the smallest chest
i felt vindicated when i discovered that skeleton trophies were useful for making dead raiser. I was like: HAH! I KNEW there was a reason i kept all these
the only reason i have 3 chests of dandelions is because of the grey dwarf farm
Ahhh that makes sense! Nearly 800 hours in, and Iโve never made a greydwarf farm haha
i made it to farm blood magic, but the eyes, wood, and stone were a nice perk
oh, that reminds me. now that i have Fader's power I can pick up more of that crap in one go now lol
banded shield or iron buckler go
Banded ๐ค
Always banded
There's a few doors that can be put together for a 2 wide door, but both halves open independently
Damn. I put two wooden together, so it's whatevee
ok, even during the day, ashlands thunderstorms are terrifying. I can't see spit.
you can put two wooden gates or darkwood doors together to open to opposite sides, but you still need to open each separately.
Does anybody have any idea what the new swamp hut update is going to have?
What is the mace weapon for silver tier?
Frostner. Although it deals very low blunt damage, it scales with the clubs skill, has the mace secondary, and has a lot of knockback
Ashlands ||just defeated Fader! Full Flametal gear, Dyrnwyn and standard shield. Took about 30 minutes, no deaths ๐||
is dyrnwyn good against him??? thought it would suck bc of his fire resistance
No itโs pretty bad, regular sword or mace with ||lightning infusion|| deal more damage per hit on average, and other options arenโt direct comparisons, but they are better
But dyrnwyn and full armor looks cool and is thematic
Oh absolutely, I used Dyrnwyn 100% for the coolness factor lolโฆ if I had used a lightning sword or lightning axes, I think I couldโve trimmed the time down to like 15-20 minutes.
I used Frostner to kill the frost dragon, I used Dyrnwyn to kill the fire dragon ๐ my two favorite weapons in the game, no doubt.
Curious, for those who have defeated the 7th boss, how was your experience?
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 browse here, lots of groups looking for players ๐
Dyrnwyn has only 10 additional fire damage so basically it works like a bit better regular Nidhรถgg against him.
Easiest fire damage to use against elder? That's pre magic, so I'm assuming just light him up with fire arrows
Fire arrows are solid ๐
Primal Berserkir Axes are my goto against him.
build some fire pits around the arena and run around works too
Can i join someones serv?
no ones replying to me tho :C
Maybe give it more than half an hour...
;-;
Mage here, so I threw trolls and vines at him until he died ๐
No deaths ๐ฅณ
U should make a serv and inv me <#
Should?
Please make it and invme-
No, you should be able to find people to play with in #1024264966712340510 Be patient though, it's still quite early morning in the EU and the US are currently sleeping. I'm working now and don't tend to play with strangers anyway.
:ccccccccccccc
Explicitly begging others to invite you is a bright red flag
#screenshots can you reach that giant tree it looks so cool
and it looks like its close
You canโt reach it and it has no collision
man......................................................................
would be so cool if it was a biome and you could see everyfing from up dere
Yggdrasil? The tree we're trying to stop the Forsaken reaching? Yeah, probably best not to really.
is it from mythology or made up by the developers
Itโs from mythology
ill check it out
In a later biome you can find roots from where it was connected with Valheim.
Afternoon gjall.
can watch the video, abything exciting in it?
2am the video for aussies, blargh! I better go to bed, knowing I won't be able to sleep with that sorta news hanging in the ether!
Valheim 1.0?
lol must be a joke. Like some things!
Wym
It doesn't say 1.0, it says 1.0 ?
So it may tell us something about 1.0, but I doubt it's about the release, as we still haven't seen anything of Deep North yet.
So my guess is that it's just to inform us what 1.0 might have and how long it might take before we get the 1.0 release.
We can of course speculate a lot about what is means and what is going to happen, but in about 3 hours we will know for sure.
Speculating can be done at the stock market and even there it isn't always a good idea.
So I doubt it's a good idea to speculate over here as well.
Let's all get some speculaas going, maybe with some tea or coffee for the ones that prefer that.
The only thing I want devs to do is to fix performance in this game. I don't care about new updates
I would have wanted a little more content in mistlands
Sure, good systems but creativity was a little down there from what I witnessed except for I guess the giant skeletons and weapons.
Mistlands has the most content out of all the biomes in my opinion.
Best fishes, all the magic stuff that becomes available, pretty intense dungeons, ...
Okay, true. Fishes though?
And the dungeons
Well, dungeons aren't really all that much in any biome
The only fish that is required to a specific food is Anglerfish.
Yeah
Nice. You want content and its ok. The thing is that a building system is available in the game. If you want to make even a small base FPS drops to the ground (and forget about having animals and crops in the same spot). We need to have a fix for this, whatever the cost.
The first fishes that give something else than generic fish meat.
Anglerfish for the best stamina food in game up to that point and the pufferfish for poisoning dvergr without them getting mad at you or to use in auto breeder / slaughter set ups or for tossing it on the ground where hares are frequently found for easy hare meat.
True but the mistland dungeons are more extensive and can have secret rooms that previous dungeons didn't have.
Any idea if the game will ever be ported to console ?
It is available on xbox but there is no idea if it will ever come to other consoles, that is something we'll find out in the future.
Valheim 2 announcement here we go
is the abyssal knife worth it or should i save up for the harpoon
The knife is a good weapon but the harpoon will help if you want a serpent scale shield
I'd say, do the harpoon first and the knife later.
Unless you prefer to use knifes to fight with in the first place. In that case, the other way around.
Eventually you will run into enough Leviathans to craft both anyway.
I would start with the abyssal razor it is a good weapon but will lose its effectiveness around the mountains when you can make a silver dagger.
The harpoon stays relevant till mistlands for the serpent meat.
Serpent meat doesnโt sink, you donโt need a harpoon for it.
True, still the harpoon will be useful later on in the game more than the abyssal razor will be, dragging tames around, dragging mobs around, dragging serpents or bonemaws to shore.
I hardly used my harpoon. Iโd usually just beach my boat and kite the serpent into a shallow spot
My favourite serpent strategy is to get its health below 'one shot' and then let it get as close to the boat as possible. Then jump from the boat with your bow drawn and kill it on the fall. More often than not, I'll be able collect the scales/trophies as I fire the killing blow.
Solo I do the same but with a dagger.
Very Hollywood! ๐
Thoughts on the "Krom" weapon is it worth the investment and if not what's a good early weapon in the mistlands, I just unlocked the black forge
I dunno if it's meta optimal technically, but it's a helluva lotta fun, hits hard, relatively cheap to because while it's decent #s of mats, it's iirc all older metals (think a mix of iron & bronze)
Itโs good, I used it in my first playthrough and was very happy with it
and scale hide from the hares; a lotta people like Krom, just gotta get familiar with the timing because obvis can't have a shield and the swings are slower
I'm considering it because I like two handed weapons and I wanna change up the style of fighting. one handed sword and shield is getting boring
Can someone tell me what "the spill is"?
Two handed swords are fun to use. Their secondary attack hits hard.
I canโt watch it right now but it seems to have information about the future of games developed or published by Coffee Stain such as Valheim and Satisfactory
Thank you
Is there a way to turn the sailing 'hud' off?
are the one star and two star wolves still despawning while taming?
My notes from the spill live stream. (1st part) for those who are interested
||- new NPC
- feasts
- more skills
- prep tables
- new crafting table
- scythe
- deep north is in production
- quality of life||
I hope the deep north is nothing like the mountain biome. By far my least favourite biome
No, once they start the taming process they don't despawn, but it needs to start before the dawn.
Hope all were watching the spill interview
it will be most likely be the best since it will be the last landmas in the game, maybe some lore endings or more lore
A scythe is coming to the game for farming!!!
People are going to keep it in their inventory at all times and complain that their inventory is too small
Potions gonna come out
Why? We have atgeirs.
well to be fair, a separate inventory for armour would make sense. Like you don't put the clothes you're wearing at the moment in your rucksack are you?
too many tools / too lazy to keep them in a chest
@fallen zephyr it's for all crops. So you don't have to click individually
Ah, that's a little different. I'd prefer they just give veges better hitboxes, though.
all i wanted to hear was the production of the deep north, time to pull out my wolf cape again
Why have slots for equipment only if those slots could be for everything?
Why not have separate slots for somthing you'll have on you all the time?
Anyone wanting 'armour' slots in inventory wants more slots, not separate slots. C'mon, you know it. ๐
anyone got a summary of the spill? didn't really care about any other news besides Valheim
Valheim stuff part 2 just going. More you can see up under spoiler tags.
love potions sounds really interesting... who do you use it on??
I wish they would add bears, I would love to have a bearskin cape in the game.
Maybe enemies (like Trolls) to temp turn them friendly?
Necks, I hope
Tame Passive/Aggressive toggle QoL would be great
Tired of crafting saddles not to see them ever again the moment I put them on crazy frogs
HAH! If you level cooking, by cooking, the fact that i have too many chests of low biome ingredients will pay off! My hoarding coming in clutch
I am soooooo looking forward to trying all of that out... a few weeks... more waiting ๐ฆ
I agree, the Asksvin are so damn aggressive lol, then they can run on lava and you can't follow, there definitely needs to be either a way to call them back to you, just make them follow you like wolves, or way to make them not chase, SOMETHIGNM
Does anyone know what the lightning elemental damage does? (Using the himminafl)
at least it's easy to hatch many asksvin wherever you want. i don't get attached. i just make a lot of them
I'd prefer to not be dying in Ashlands because I'm playing with my wife and multi-player causes insurmountable lag, but sure, let's level cooking.
"dog" whistle utility item straight from the bog witch
i'd like that
Lightning deals stagger like physical damage
Also agroing every gdwarf in rendering range lol
woah alr thanks for the info
Also I donโt think any enemies are resistant to lightning
I wasnโt able to watch the video live so Iโm curious about feasts and how that works.
I also wasnโt actively playing when Hildir was added to the game, so Iโm not sure if a newly added NPC requires a new map/unexplored parts of existing map.
New content will only generate in unexplored areas
Okay thanks. Iโll avoid uncovering any more swamps for now then.
You can use an item stand to display it on a wall
Will do if i keep the save and not get angy ๐
even if you DON'T keep the save, take the fish with you to the next new world
If you get angy the fish will be there for you
Unlikely, lessons about what plains looks like, how dangerous they are and how it's the 5th biome you should enter have all been learned
No actually reason i deleted my first save is i got 1 shotted by a fly cuz i didn't knew if i was on swamp or plains ๐ญ
It was a plain and it was called a deathsquito
The swamp will be brown on the map and you will recognise them from a distance with the trees
Yeah but peeps told me swamp had dead tree's so i landed on 1 and got clapped
It is a difficulty jump but nowhere near the jump from forest to plain
Swamp biome is covered in the giant dead trees. If you arenโt surrounded by those trees, itโs not a swamp.
Having made poison resist before you enter them is recommended
Yeah it was by a accident and i play this game mostly blind
the first time you get to a new biome is pops it up on your screen all big. if you've been there before, it doesn't do that, but you should actually recognize it afterwards
what biome is it ur struggling with
does playing the game mostly blind mean you don't pay attention to anything you see in the game also?
woah XD
No mostly blind means without looking up videos
or any info abt the game ๐ฎโ๐จ
blind means you actually play without ur monitor turned on
