I've finally figured out the weirdest of all Valheim pecularities. If you jump into the water from a height you float to the surface basically as fast as you fall. But still, even though you float like a balloon you drown if you run out of stamina... Not complaining - it works - but I find it funny. 😄

3: make sure you have poison resist running in case of blob spawn

Any continent with sizeable plains usually has one or more frontiers towards Mistlands. In most worlds I've played Mistlands has had the largest cohesive landmasses of all biomes.

they tend to generate in fractured islands, despite the map showing otherwise
and the ones with large continental mass were almost always either surrounding a mountain or merged with plains

I'm not really waiting though, I think Valheim is one of those rare gems of a game that doesn't really need any mods. The minor gripe I have is render/object draw distance, I feel that is a bit too limited. I guess it is as is for a reason though, so it not something I fret a lot over. But if Valheim does get official mod support some day that is what I will try.

i kept my 2star boar where i found him, bred baby 2stars there, and then led some to my main base. Kept the originals as a backup. totallly enclosed pens/breeders in both locations

Your biggest advantage, you can breed it with a no-star boar, kill off everything that hasn't stars and keep the 2 star boars (three of them) to start breeding your own herd.

The "best" spot to tame wolves is the same pit you mined to get silver.
Makes it easier to set something up to hide behind, making them loose agro or even allertnes, but still having you close enough to tame them.

A single 2m wall piece may work for both boars and wolves. But I found that even hiding (crouching) behind a workbench works.

The good thing, the moment you order wolves to follow you, they will even swim behind you boat as long as you don't go too fast.

Update from yesterday: I decided I would tame another 1* asksvin seeing as I already had the pen set up after the first died seconds after finishing taming it. This second one just finally finished taming and a morgen spawns INSIDE its pen with it while I'm fighting a valkyrie to kill time. Of course the morgen kills it before I manage to kill it 🤬

Depends on the tame. Askvins and lox its riding them. Wolves its telling them to follow you. With boar you either harpoon them or create a narrow channel of walls to push them through.

there was a discussion a couple days ago about using an arbalest against a gjall, and how many hits it takes. looking back at it, we never took into account the damage from the bolt. if you use a blackmetal bolt on a quality 1 arbalest, you get 200+62 base damage, x2 for weak spot, x3 for backstab damage. That's 1572 damage, which is just over the 1500 health of a regular gjall.

also there is a lack of armor for Mounts, riding backwards, let the Animal attack by pressing a button and so to make it useable or even worth the struggle at all other than cooking and crafting materials by breeding them.

What changed, was the fact that i haven't played much since the ashland update. THis is the only new thing. The ashland update. I just can't play the game ever since

Mods are almost always an issue, especially through any update. Make sure you remove the mods or update them, or go ask in #mods-issues for specific help. The main channels are for the vanilla, unmodified game.

I got epic loot too. I got a variety of minor things but my most important set of mods is stuff that lets me change inventory spaces. Like i have doubled every stack in the game and made the blast furnace take 120 items at a time

Make a terrain pillar so you can hide from the attack she does in the air, also don’t use the fire arrows unless you run out of obsidian

Remember this is an early access made by a small team growing so there is a lot of things that are not made right and a lot of things missing and a lot of counter-intuitive.
Over time with habbit and mods, you can make it your game and not whatever others think it is 🙂

I built a wall around his spawn, climbed on it and spammed roots

With root harnesk and serpent scale shield, faders blocked attacks can do less than 1 damage. The only physical damage he can do which isn’t pierce is his meteors, and they don’t do much blunt damage.

When standing in the arena, i simply summon 1 skelly and then go away root the boss nonstopo and run when meteor. otherwise i was on the wall the wall, then hide when he meteor and simply root him.

I have no tried him with the Trollstave as I did not even discovered RED gems until after I killed fader

my blood shield absorbed 700 damage

In my second playthough I tried magic and died to a boss for the fight time because I was focusing too much on using skeletons and shields instead of elemental magic, so I didn’t have enough eitr to defend myself from the queen and her seekers

You will see, I think it is good to do a first playthrough full vanilla, because once you improve the game with mods you wont go back.

THe game still in early access so mods are more than normal and accepted. The game can use a good amount of it

Long boat rides are my favourite part of the game. Genuinely. I love the peacefulness of the ocean. And the beautiful lighting effects. And then it gets stormy and it's like "OK, time to be vigilant, and find land!"

I've always found him by just sailing around

his location is very apparent from the shores

i found the boss location in my first plains biome. only thing is, i missed it, only found it later when i came back to cut trees. ran over to the random stone pillers that looked sus at this point. very close to our inital plains base

the most disturbing boss location i had was moder. there was a mountain right next to spawn that we left for "later". well we never went back to that mountain and 7 mo9untains later, i decide to have a look real quick and the literal boss was right there. smallest mountain right next to spawn lol

interesting. it's funny, i've been finding rib cages on the ground. but there was a standing up rib cage, and the white raven decided to finally talk to me about the jotun. i thought maybe there might be a skull there, but there wasn't

does a eitr refinery fit into a space where two blast furnaces fit next to each other?

My favourite solution for refineries so far: Jump through a skulls jaw there's just enough room and enemies doesn't come in. Excavate the skull and empty it out without cracking it. Put the refinery inside the skull. And place the portal outside in the jaw section with some raised earth or something next to it to keep it safe from sparks.

Even better if you find a skull with a root clipping through the jaw, so you can have the sap extracter there as well.

I've had refinery at base first two or so times, and honestly hated it. First tried to build it inside the base and had to basically wall of sections of my base in stone. Second time I just made a big ugly block outside of the base proper. Then realising that I can teleport all of it anyways, I just stuck it in an empty skull and was happy.

Yeah, my first one/base was in a cave under elder altar, and I fit it into one of the corners, built up stone all around it etc, and it took so much of my base, changed everything up so much, I just didn't enjoy it. In the end I just put the entire thing on top, surrounded by earth walls.

I ended up putting mine on the edge of my base and walled it in with marble and iron.

It takes up so much space though.
