I can currently fill at least one black metal chest at least with just lox meat. Maybe two.
stop killing em? xd
Hahaha
at some point i just offer them up to thor...
I have stopped killing them since my breeding tower for lox finally got broken.
well, its decent food to prevent death by gravity while building castles
Lox pie is still my best health food, but it won't be for long.
look in #screenshots
daym thats stacked
enough for a few days, aye
as a tip, you can use the chests as the floor near the caldroun, looks clean and smoother than chests standing around
yeah that's what I decided to do going forward
should i build a new smaller base somewhere far away, am thinking mountains base finally
tho bases with green around so gud
idk, what are you wanting out of a new base?
well less lag :D
i love this one but id have to take down the smithy for the fps to be okay again
i have around 70-100 in the mountains but the smithy made it drop to around 12-19 in base
imo, best way to minimize lag is to build on a plains island and clear out EVERYTHING, all bushes, rocks, buildings, etc.
islands are pog
a small stronghold in mountains could be cool
what biomes have you built in already
wel throughout my play throughs plains/mistlands, meadows mostly
you could build in ashlands if you have been there
Swamp is my favorite biome because it's the most vibey. It's just a shame it's so shitty for living in and housing
with shield generators it could be viable
nah >_>
Swamp tree house is super livable.
ashlands aint it
I haven't hit ashlands yet so I'm not familiar with shields. Does it prevent wood from decaying in the rain? Enemies are not a problem
prevents rain from entering
Roof pieces will prevent wood decay.
That's dope.
this means that even the wet effect is gone, though i do not know if it works in swamp
I'm not going to put roofs over my walkways to the surt farms I always settle between
Maybe I'm stubborn but that's minmaxy imo and not very rp
Why do wood walkways? Level ground or stone roads?
Would be giga cool if the shield gens extended to the clouds so I could hand sunny skies
Wood walkways are more rp in swamps than stone imo
Maybe I just don't like the swamps lmao
the swamp is the place where the sun never shines
Eh. I disagree with wood walkways. Actual raised roads and paths is better and makes way more sense in a swamp.
Yeah and I definitely don't want to change that. Probs best I live out of a strong meadows base until I hit plains
closest i got to swamp base was a base in a black forest extremly close
after ashlands i think i will go and build minas morgul in a swamp
What I've learned is production is mobile so while you do need a facility in the swamps, it doesn't need to be your comfort room
I had a nice swamp treehouse last play. I have a basic one in this play, near bonemass. They can be great.
Never bothered with producing anything in swamps. Just load up a boat and take it home to meadows base. Coastal base is the best.
But many ways to play. Production can be mobile. But ore shipping is easier to move imo.
bf or mountains base ?
i wanted to build a small base near a big mountain in a bf, well it turned into my main base
hey, wierd question, but any1 wanna duo valheim? its a bit boring playing solo after a long time. if yes, it would be perfect if you got an character that is around the level of troll-leather to bronze armor
idk how can one structure drop my fps so low honestly
what is the instance count?
Do you bring you metals back to your meadows base or do you have a settle further out typically?
All smelting in this game I've done back at my meadows base on the coast.
in my world i will build a thanos like place in meadows to go to after finishing ashladns
Pretty standard. Mountain was super close however. I ended up just running it back. Then portal. Repeat.
i guess it works if you really enjoy sailing
BF was running distance also.
It's the Viking way.
A load of ore in a longship is very efficient.
true
Gotta boat to find new land anyways.
i learned to enjoy sailing much more
My typical approach is bring 60 copper 30 tin on the boat with me to the swamps. Then I craft all the iron I need, make the Longship and fill it with as much iron as I want to mine, and the same copper/tin, and bring it to the mountains. Repeat, bring a stack of silver to the boat. Settle for the end game in the plains (although I've never reached AL, still lost in the mist)
Sailing is a BLAST but I don't like going backwards. Especially when you eventually want a plains base closer to the south. I know about stone portals so a southern plains base won't have a huge impact on the northland when that content drops
found a nice lil patch of bf peninsula :3
My last mountains base had the peak very close to the coast, so I just put everything in a cart, pushed it off the cliff, and collected at the bottom. Very efficient.
My meadows base is on a thin part of the continent. So it has easy access to sail east and west, and receives ores from both sides.
You ever dig canals?
I haven't. I checked it out, but the ground level is too high. But it would have great if possible.
YeAhhhhhh seems like a lot of work. Can easily just pack up the boat and walk it over
It was more for moving ore. So I just made a fairly good cart path from the far dock.
anyone know if canals are viable for drakkar?
But I'm a huge fan of breaking my boat and porting somewhere to set sail. I have a good amount of portals all over for that purpose. Cuts down on some sailing time.
You know what sucks? Portal hubs. Just work out of three portals, ensuring to have 1 loose at all time. Ezpz
if done well they are amazing
Visually cool yes but not very efficient until you get access to more surts
I love a good amount of permanently linked portals. Plus some for dynamic linking. Once you rule the swamp you have infinite surtling cores.
i won't kill a single surtling in my world, i have fire hazards on π°
They definitely are unnecessary and contribute greatly to lag.
If you make a stone wall around your base it will be safe
that's why i just have a portal to the portal hub and its built somewhere else
yeah gonna wait for plains pillars to get that stone
Mountains have good stones
plains pillars really don't dorp that much
I got about 7.5 stacks of stone from my first stone pillar.
really? I get like 2 stacks.
Fwiw I find all mining sites (copper, silver) have great stone production
Yep. 7.5 stacks.
im terrified enough whilst mining silver
just keep all the stone you get and you'll have about 25% the total stone you need for a base
Terrified of what? Are you playing on a high difficulty?
I got way more from my second plains pillar because I kept expanding to all the other boulders I ran into. lol.
stone golems
i fear no man. but that thing, it scares me.
Theyβre not that bad if you have an iron mace
But yeah, i keep all the stone I ever find. Never know when you want to go crazy with it
iron mace, iron buckler and good timing makes short work of em
Their swing timers are out of this world. Feels like playing lies of p
The banded shield can parry them well too
oh
I'm better against the stone golem variant with the shootie attack. The other one my timing is often wrong.
right; i didn't try parrying
had my fair share of getting slapped by them when learning their patterns, yeah
Even without parrying, iron mace obliterates them with a few carefully timed jump secondary attacks
using bonemass helps with the learning process
Bonemass power is the learning process
ngl whenever I get hunted I just bonemass and stand my ground
after the massacre I get loads of meat for jerky later π€
Sail around until you find big dead trees. Swamps donβt generate too close to the centre of the world, try being at least as far out as the elderβs spawn location.
Is there a certain direction or?
No, it can generate in any direction
well that's interesting. 2 dverger rogues just chilling on a tiny rock with no base around?
Dvergr rogues can spawn randomly
which is nice, because they are either killig this gjall that just appeared, or distracting it lol
they got it
Biomes generate as rings around the center, any direction works. I recommend south however, so you're closer to the ashlanda
the hammer golem is definitely harder to time
if your clubs are leveled enough, you can parry and get a stagger from a full combo iirc, then game over (for the golem)
hah. lots of dverge just chilling in the ocean
hmm. if you're on a sandbar that says Mistlands, think i could raise the earth more, and then plant mistlands stuff here?
i love mistlands
there's a tiny island with a rogue and a lamp. but near it is a sandbar
try it. plant just a few puffs, give em a minute, if they say healthy then you're golden
i only have found magecap so far, but let me try
not all mistlands "dirt" is gardenable, but, if it's a good locatiin it's worth trying
i don't know if it's good π it's pretty small, but it seems safe as hell
i'll do it for science
"safe" is a thing of the past for you now. π
bats aren't the only things that fly... >.>
aha! when i raise the sandbar, it turns into the mistlands stone and can't be cultivated
yeah, i wouldn't put a full base here, that's for sure
is it worth crafting the root mask and leggings
your next more or less "safe" is inside an ashlands fort. but you can still get gjalls coming over for tea and biscuits
mask, yes. leggings, probably... yes if you use bow a lot.
my Yagluth island, which is completely spawn proofed, should be safe from everything. plains biome, but nowhere for raids to spawn.
my Meadows base is safe because seeker raid doesn't happen in Meadows. At least until i kill the queen. π
blah rainy day. i might as well collect some wisp i guess
i'm very happy with mine.
unfortunately afaik meadows is never very close to mist, so fobs are always essential. there are plenty of those to be found in mist though
fobs?
forward operating bases
ahah, yeah
i will flesh out Yag island and make it my primary plains base. Just will need something suitable in mistlands for growing stuff.
my current plains base is fine, but not as potentially cool
i recommend looking for a garden spot with 3-4 roots close by. you can keep most things out most of the time with stone 4x2 walls, with <2m gaps between
gjall raid sounds pretty horrible π
i actually had to put walls up mostly because my lox kept destroying things...
lol
i think lox are more trouble than they are worth, aside from lox meat at that point
my attempt of riding my lox with a group of wolves into a fuling village was made worse by the lox. would have been better if i just led the charge
they are ...fluffy. but yeah, they're a warzone waiting to happen
now, if i could get a whole HERD of lox to follow me, that would be amazing
me after taming lox in masses just to slaughter them: looks like meat's back on the menu boys!
only way to get a lox to not make craters everywhere is to ride it and constantly tell it to move in a certain direction
yep. that's teh way to go
and riding a lox feels so clunky, as it should i suppose
ye the riding seems weird at first but then you realise that's how it would probably look irl
you can ride them while encumbered, but, that has yet to seem practical to me..
i used it once to get stone from a pillar back
it's interesting how some mistlands rock islands are completely clear. then others are these massive clouds of mist in the water
imean it could be more practical than running on foot, but, generally a portal or just a belt seems better to me
this one cloud of mist seemed to correlate with the glowing lamp object
mist free areas are nice. i still wanna find one with some tall rocks to build an interesting base overlooking mist all around. maybe with a nice ocean sunrise/set view
...probably will never happen lolll
you'll get feather cape soon, that's exciting
not soon at the rate i'm currently exploring lol π
ngl it took me like 2 seconds to get used to it. forever after i keep jumping off of things and keeling myself if i have a different cape on..
i'm investigating this random completely mist covered island. what makes it special...
sometimes random small mist islands have dungeons or skulls
exploring is rarely a waste
worst case you discover that there's no reason to go back to a spot in future, but, that can be good information too
yeah, so far it looks empty, but i needed to portal home for night anwyays
i grabbed a piece of ygg wood at least lol
best way to find things in my experience is to go toward sounds and lights. though skulls require just crawling the low ground
We havent killed Yagg on this seed yet but I had to go to mistlands because i need them black marbles for my castle
i'm currently trying to circle this whole mistlands area of the map, looking for larger landmasses
Very annoying task without mistlight π
yeahhh idk if I'd take on mist with no light generally. first thing i do after yag is make like 3 of them >.>
Yeah im just snatching some marble then heading back
We're probably killing yagge next week if everyone can be on at the same time
so far exploring these little mist islands is just a waste of food ticks. this one had a hare. i wonder if mist might be present for a spawn point
I think ive found the best swamp island ever. Gonna have iron for DAYS...
I just re-installed (haven't played since couple months after release I think) because been meaning to get back into it and now we can customize for solo players to make it easier. I'm so excited.
Long breaks are the best. A nice chunk of new content to get into!
has anyone noticed the ashlands lava fields expanding
Im in a charred fortess and use to be able to run around it but now one side is covered in lava
god boar taming takes forever
LIfe hack: do other stuff while waiting π
god i hate building docks
I just put a stone staircase down on the edge
but i love building docks sm
nothing more needed π
I forgot how much fog in the game hahah
it's beautiful and easy to make nice designs with
but it takes quite a bit to build, 1-2 hours
also the cart trick to reach lower with pillars
halves that time
I miss Valheim
valheims set and setting is what keeps me
whoever visualized this artstyle and worldbuilding
@devteam
you are great
any servers i can join
check out #1024264966712340510 surely some out there π
i checked but most of them dont reply
yeah, the replies can take from few minutes to hours or even days π just be patient, someone will reply eventualy
are you in one by chance that i can join
nope, i am playing solo π
the games pace is so satisfying
I fked up... set up a new explorer-portal on a new mistlands isle near some dvergr mages... good protection for the portal etc... destroyed my boat and accidentally aoe-attacked a crate that belonged to the dvergrs... barely made it back through the portal π
Do they drop aggro ever or will I have to go back full HP and guns blazing if I go back?
they never drop aggro unfortunately
goooood damn it
oh well.. I wont be going through that portal again unless im roided to the gills
tak new portal mats, go through and run away, they will most likely destroy the portal and you can make the new one somewhere safe from where you can pick them off π
well thats the thing.. it was a perfect little spot just above the water for a portal where I could swim into mistlands
nowhere to run except for straight into mistlands passing a bunch of dvergs dpsing me π
my best suggestion yet maybe
Ill just take the loss on those portal mats.. I have a billion cores etc anyways...
I got my boat mats back so thats the important part.. annoying to make a bunch of new nails n shiet
Dont know why im exploring more mistlands... havent even killed yagge yet so should just stick to collecting iron to help the others get fully upgraded padded armor
would love to see half doors or 1x2 wood shutters
hey why can't I make my own world?
says loading and just crashes
are there servers I can get in without passwords?
Crashes or you get 'not responding'? If the latter, just wait a few minutes without tabbing out or touching the mouse.
There might be some modded servers, but no, generally all servers requires passwords. Have a look in #1024264966712340510
Were any of the post-launch soundtracks (mistlands, asslands) released on Spotify?
on my way to the mistlands for the first time ever
wonder how long ill live before i eventually die
any tips for a first time mistlander?
be careful not to aggro dvergrs, watch out for gjalls and fall damage and be sure to mark every root/skull/dvergr outpost on the map, those will come in handy later
or even a biome later when you'll need eitr for asslands-tier stuff
got it, ty!
You know it's called Ashlands, right?
i refuse to call it anything other than that
Suit yourself.
well my first death was a gjall
he;;p
hello,
My VALHEIM world is not loading. I havent logged in in quite some time
why are no worlds loading
just don't press or move anything, it's regenerating pois in unexplored areas, which may take some time
also, may have to use BRS
if it says "not responding", that's normal
it is?
shouldn't be
you can have an infinite amount of gravestones around at a time, they never despawn, can't be broken by enemies and float on water
will the petrified skelletons cruble like other ores?
if i remove everything it touches
yes
i forgot to bring black metal with me to the mistlands
Find a nearby plains gg ez
well, you'd also have to make the forge and everything
Copper and iron are in the mistlands
(aka you need iron)
And moder tears you can just tp ez
at that point its faster to dismantle the ship and do another run
Sailing is not fun
its a nice distraction
You mean afk for 30 minutes
more like 10
Ok sure bud
it do be like that
wish I could tame the greydwarfs and make them farm for me lol
are chickens worth it or should I just stick with ashlands food
If you have Ashlands food, why would you ever want to waste time on chickens?!
mb didn't know if they were good or not
that could be cool with necks
yeah I just wish farming was automatic I'm lazy
or maybe a watering system to make it grow faster
I do biome stuff whilst it's growing, and when it's grown i harvest and replant
Always switches things up nicely
getting flameore is gonna be the death of me
I'm just swarmed by gremlins 24/7 lol
Gremlins?
I meant just everything
And the heat seeking missilies from the lava
yeah it's scary out there
just got some good food the and I'm at 250h/212s so I feel a lot better
Does any1 know, what is the best weapon type for end game? Ive heard that Frostner or daggers are best, but what is your opinion? I wanna grind the type from the start of bronze era,so the weapon type gets maxed till end game
Idk, ive just heard that frostner is best, so this atgeir-lighting weapon is best? (I dont know its name)
Ah i remember why frostner, because of the cc for solo players
I use the nidhogg cus I like using a shield
Yk any confirm to that or is it just false info?
sry I'm stupid what's cc, crit chance?
Nah, the stun, slow etc
Ah okok, thanks for the info
the best weapon in the end are the dual wielded axes, they can do crazy damage
yeah but that's just dps right, I want def as well
then one handed weapon with shield
yeah that's what I use
And what weapon would YOU say is the best overall in late game?
621.5 π
i played more than the person who got me on valheim in the first place
Well i have only finished Ashlands once, so i didn't spend much time there after killing the boss, i used the lightning axes primarily
So i just want to find the best weapon type for end game so i can level it from now on
i found using axes and maces worked very well
tbh i used it once for yagluth
I heard, it can keep up pretty pretty well especially for solo players
Can anyone help? I cant open player logs
i don't use it much but someone i know used it in ashlands in the beginning and held up pretty well
I love this game but idk how people can do multiple play throughs I could not do all this again lol
I just wanna know if frosrber is sorth the grind
well when something new comes i always start a new world because my worlds always end up scuffed
new character or just world?
both
wow I could not do that
i had the idea once to start with a new character in the old world, didnt do it though
getting all the copper and iron is just so boring to me
i kind of enjoy it
but i don't just mine iron like 5 hours, i do stuff inbetween, like each day something else
You can get all the copper you'll ever need in half an hour.
I'm lazy
Can anyone help i wanna open friends server but i cant open player logs
what do you mean by player logs?
Theres button on left side
I saw on yt that you need to press it to open game files
did you change something in the files maybe?
No i just got this game
then maybe it can't open a player log if you don't have any characters and worlds?
ashlands boss done, yay
so done with the game until deep north patch
so see yall in a year or two
farewell
best defense would be your dodge button, but parrying when possible is also really good. But not every weapon requires parrying to make it work
I have my friends server and a char
Nothing more
copper is the only real boring part imo. iron you can find in large quantities in chest most of the time. i dotn bother mining everything. i go straight for chest.
iron is super easy, barely an inconvenience
only easier metal to acquire is black metal
its the fact that you have to go to swamp that makes me not farm iron
swamp is only hard the first time going in blind imo
yeah, once you've got upgraded mountains gear, or plains gear, you don't even need to worry about poison resistance to walk through the swamp
because for some reason armor reduces poison damage
i ment in replaying the game as mentioned above
eh, even knowing what you're doing, swamp can bit a bit of a hassle going in
even upgraded bronze armor doesn't do that much to reduce the damage those one and two star draugr can do, and they pop up with alarming regularity
i find mountains the most annoying. the hit boxes on the slopped terrain is very annoying. and the multiple wolfs can mean easy death
i feel like troll hide armor is on par with bronze armor, the move speed penalty is just not worth it to carry around on you perma until iron/cuirass
i feel like bronze is much easier to get at black forest level
trolls are not common enough to rely on troll hide alone for armor
you just need 2 trolls for top and bottom
troll caves are ideal locations for trolls
bronze just takes to long to farm to justify the time spent. plus killing trolls is more fun
yeah, no, you need to upgrade the armor too, if you want to be able to survive more than a single hit from a draugr
i am on my 3rd playthrough atm and i got the foul smell from swamp right after killing elder and
my bronze buckler was mroe than enough with troll hide
i can see it being a problem for first timers thoe.
Umm... trolls are rather easy to hunt for maxed out troll armor. I got mine maxed while I was hunting crypts and mining bronze
not in my experience
you cant max troll armor untill you get mountains stuff tho
I had level 3 bronze helm, chest, and legs before I ever got the troll hide cape to even just level 2
and that was without crafting a single other piece of troll hide gear
i make the troll armor because the bronze is usually more time consuming π
and it gives justa tiny bit less armor compared to tho heavy set
What would be considered rare generation for a world?
lots of things, all bosses (exept Fader) conected by starter continent for example
ye, the ultra rare megacontinent containing the first 6 biomes and including the first 6 bosses
I'm sure it exists, but I'd be completely shocked if anyone actually found it
i am pretty sure i saw one with first 5 bosses, that was pre ashlands i am pretty sure though
my main island has eikthyr, elder and moder π
i can walk to all 3 of those on my seed also. Moder mountain and Eikthyr super close to my main base.
Bonemass and Yag required sailing however.
meanwhile my world forces me to go halfway from spawn to the edge of the world just to fight The Elder
as the kids say: lol rip
which I still haven't done yet, despite being kitted out in level 3 mountains gear
hmm. interestingly, both Yag and Bonemass were also right on the coast. Though I didn't wan to dock in the Swamp, so i had to slog through one a bit.
so this seed has been good for bossess so far
Havenβt killed any bosses after eik?
How are you getting your metals?
Stagbreaker makes it easy to find iron and silver under the ground
A crypt key and wishbone would be easier
easier, yes
no boss run is cool though.
Alright π
i gave up on mine trying to find iron.
are you going to try and skip Moder also?
I don't want to see a single drake raid, so I refuse to kill Bonemass before I'm fully prepared to kill Moder in the same day
I have a moat that takes care of all ground bound raids.
Drakes take 1 arrow each so no real issue
Bats are just annoying
Moder can't be skipped, unless you want to be severely underpowered going into Mistlands
wait
right. that's why i was curious π
are there gate structure for metal construct
there are iron gates yes
depends on the bow and the arrow, actually, and whether or not they're alerted
but the main annoyance is that their aim is absolutely awful, and they'd do a ton of structural damage
can you use it for double gate structure like with the wooden gate
not sure, i never really used it
None of my drake raids so far has been any problems for my structures because they die so fast. Guess itβs annoying if you have free roaming pets etc.
anyone know if the rock island mistland things ever have POIs?
technically yes, but there will be a skinny iron beam in the middle
you won't be able to pull a cart through it
kinda crazy how abrupt the mist can be: #screenshots message
every time i investigate one of those mist domes i end up disappointed though lol.
yeah, I don't think i'm going to even try to build anything in the mistlands, other than some walls and a portal to let me grow and collect crops
Yeah mistlands base isnβt worth it. Too much annoyance π
I haven't even found land I can farm on in the Mistlands yet. Just tiny rocky Islands.
lol finally found a a light and boated to it. 2 seekers jumped into my boat and started messing me up. jumped to land and got trapped in a crevice, but the seekers can't get me. but frostner angle bad. BIG HAMMER to the rescure lol
i hear a gjall nearby too
aha, this must be an infested mine entrance. i see another seeker near the light
yep, stairs there
trying to attract the gjall first to deal with
aha, you know it's important when both ravens show up to talk
#suggestions message
this is crazy π
What is?
he's obviously referring to the crazy suggestion he linked to
okay, i have officially no regrets max upgrading the iron sledge. it's smooshing these seekers nicely in the mines
Which is?
...
"Remake this game as a homeless person in New York. Biomes can include the Bronx, wall street, the coast, and other parts of New York I am not familiar with."
Thanks. And wow, that's... ridiculous.
Does your Discord not show the link to the suggestions post he pasted the line above saying: "this is crazy" ?
I don't have access to the Suggestions channels, so no.
ah
That's why I asked.
all good.
lol screw you 2 star tick! haha man this would trigger a bug phobia, as i get swarmed by these disgusting things
π€£ sounds like you're having fun
yeah, this is good stuff. and iron sledge is doing work. the ambiance of course puts me on edge. i'm super sensitive to the background noises
these darn hares ate my jotun puffs!
now i have to go find more, thats all i had ):
i've yet to find puffs. i think because i've only been on rocky islands so far. so i have plenty of magecaps i can't plant yet
did you at least bring blackmetal with you?
yep. i brought 5 blackmetal + 2 iron. so i can do the extractor as well as a stonecutter
oooo ooo i see a treasure room glyph in the distance
1 black core
Why donβt you have access to that?
I'm banned from them permanently.
Alright.
whoops, fell through a hole. i was just about to go drop off some loot. okay, time to find my way back up....
yeah gotta watch that lol. my friend drops through that every. single. time.
the funny thing was, i was just thinking to myself "huh, i wonder if that gap is big enough to fall through..."
haven't played Valheim for many months. Did they do away with gradual discovery of recipies? Is everything now known from the outset?
two more black cores... go go go.
no, you have to get all the ingredients plus have the right crafting table+level to see the recipe
ok, I've just started my game. Why is everything visible in my build menu? I'm not talking about food recipes. It's the hammer "recipes"
you have /everything/ visible? like all the build pieces? is your server in hammer mode, ie free build?
or are you using a character that's already unlocked the recipes?
#suggestions doesn't have default access? I've never not had access.
No, I specifically am not allowed to view them.
Were you a bad boy?
Repeatedly, yeah.
this might be the case
lol love it
It's genuinely better for everyone's sanity that I can't see it. And I don't even miss it.
I suspect many of your suggestions were around offerings, and interactions, re: Haldor... π
Oh, it wasn't my suggestions that were the problem.
I think I've only ever made 3 or 4.
Damn. That was our first in-joke. I thought I hit it. ;P
feather cape when
as soon as i can! but man, still a far way to go. I haven't even seen a thing to extract sap from yet, or gotten a piece of black marble
lol seeker flew up out of this pit, i KNEW there was stuff down there. But I think the railings drop marble if I smash it
yeah, i've only been on the island rock mistlands so far
o.o what kinda pit
this pit. 2 seekers in there: #screenshots message
hmmm. i can pickaxe those railings, but after they crumble away they don't drop anything. booo
ohhhh. yeahp.
i've tossed some ooze bombs down there, and there's nothing. gonna go pick up the seeker drops i think
yeah only mats you get from destroying things in dungeons are wood and copper pretty much
plus i'm making tons of noise, so pretty sure there's nothing around there
the wiki says: ```Black marble (from destroyed railings)
in the infested mine page
you know the mine is clear when you hear no skittering
π€ interesting..idunno, but there are definitely better sources outside the mine. for sure.
infested mine has hidden and not so obvious doors
multiple times only noticed that there is a door that can be opened because minions tried to attack enemies behind it
i hear more skittering. woo. lets smash some bugs with the big hammer
big hammer is fun in mines
lol so i saw one and said, meh, i'll practice with frostner and shield, then two more showed up. ran away and came back with hammer
lol
Seekers have horribly deceptive range on their attacks. A 2H weapon sounds like a great idea. AOE FTW.
i also like that it makes a crap ton of noise, so i tend to pull them in a manageable way
rrather than turning a corner and finding a group
woo another secret room with 3 cores. I now have 6 total
that's over the magic number
ngl I'm looked ng forward to when you try ember staff
i dunno, i'm kinda a fan of raising dead minions to fight for me π I do like rock cheese
oh you can do both at the same time. π
it's funny, i've never associated with being a fire mage though. in other games. never drawn to it.
hahaha
It's not elemental in Valheim, it's more about wands.
holy crap, i opened a door, and got swarmed. okay, that was close
Like, I wand'er which staff I'll have to use today to kill enemies.
I'm not usually magey type, but val magic is pretty fun
i find the ooze bombs pretty useful in mines
answer: yes
100%. i brought in a stack of 50
hello in valheim do the sealbreaker fragments respawn at some point when you explore a mine after taking them?
my first mine i found a 2 star seeker, it was behind one of those net things and i just used a lot of bombs
too scared to take it 1 on 1
my first mine had a 2 star tick. not as scary
So... you did the Infected Mines in oozy-mode? π
oozy-smashy
i don't think so. but the sealbreaker isn't consumed on use
I always do them in oozy mode π to many ticks i have died to many times to ticks already π
okay, dropping off all this loot back at the base and refreshing rested buff. that door opened up some passages
i have an abundance of boar meat that idk what to do with
it's prob deleted already π
couldnt find it
turnip stew is good base food. or you could feed a lot of wolves
sausages, and wolf food
It's an abundance until it isn't. Store it until you're confident you're beyond it.
weird. i haven't found a single mandible yet
i had a harder time getting mandibles than black cores
oh, lol. look at that rickety wood plank bridge over an abyss. i do not want to smack that with the hammer
gonna drop some ooze bombs down though
ahah yep, there you are you seeker bastards
aha, and i see the boss locater tablet down there
okay. 1st infested mine. 6 cores. 0 mandibles. 1 queen location.
i might need to go recheck my first mine, it seemed kinda small so i might have missed some stuff
6 cores from first mine is pretty nice
yea i only got 3
1-2 is not uncommon
6 cores is very good
yeah, i'm totally happy with that. Now I just need to find some black marble to start building some stuff
Sounds like a gathering of ravens.
i need to get into some bigger, non rock island mistlands
sailing into mistlands is sub-optimal in any case
That's the trick! There are no significant Mistlands landmasses! It's AAALLLLLL horrible.
eh, every now and then you are lucky
yeah, but i'm definitely only been exploring a specific type
How many thousands of hours have you played?
mid-hundreds
and i have seen multiple large landmasses
Mid hundreds of thousands?! OMFG!
π€ my current main seed has more big solid masses of mist than islands...
you can see i've only gotten small islands mostly, though the area bordering plains was semi promising: #screenshots message
zzzzzzzzz
Text requires precision, my dude. Maybe less sleep?
Crazy how many small islands
oh wait! i'm a moron. I can build a stone cutter and deconstruct the stairs into the infested mine?
y
you're going the wrong way. go the right way.
lol damn you're right, how can i be so dumb
im not in the mood to entertain you
hmmmmm. maybe
we all have our moments
ive been there
I'm sorry, I thought I was entertaining you. I hope you get rest enough to find your energy again soon.
i'm gonna try. i only thought of it because i could smash it with my hammer and do damage. may not work
and it worked!
wooo
this is a lot of black marble
look at all those tasty recipes
i do wish the gjall would head over though, i can hear him in the distance but he's not making his way over
you only need maybe 319 stacks. to start.
haha. let start with crafting tables and i'll worry about building later
finnnneeeee
already got a stack, and stairs aren't even half gone.
oh nice
all the blocks underneath the stars and helpfuly marble too
now quick! find a real chunk of mistlands!
Everything I've ever built, ever, was beneath the stars. π
okay, i'm taking a break from deconstructing to see what I can build now
i'm probably missing some key stuff still
or were they actually.... above them? π€
mortar and pestle at least. that's helpful
meh, need puffs first. galdr table! gogogo
sadly yeah. one step at a time
I mean, you're right. Some of them definitely were when the Ashlands expansion released. My most southern base was inexplicably floating in the air.
how'd you manage that
okay, uncooked stuffed mushroom, uncooked meat platter
seeker aspic, not that i can use magic yet
oh snap, i can make the black forge
haha bros attacking.
I did nothing. It was just that the area I thought was clearly outside of Ashlands was actually in Ashlands and got absolutely wrecked by the update.
wolves killed them already
one star fuling berserker did a number on the wolf population however
lol oof
I spent about 4 hours taming a 1* asksvin, then the second I throw a saddle on it and take it out of its pen in order to bring another one in to tame, it runs off and gets itself killed. Is there no way of commanding it to be passive unless attacked? Most frustrating moment in gaming for me in years
I feel you. Taming is absolutely awful in Valheim. Whatever the limts to taming are, they need to be much more explciit, and consistent.
Taming takes 30 minutes for all mobs. It's fairly consistent.
Just treat tamed animals like they are self destructive toddlers and you're good to go
ooo i can make an arbalest
Consistent in terms of how tamed creatures can be used/commanded.
i'm gonna need more iron
What if I want to have my chickens follow me? Why isn't that an option?
On paper yes, by "taming" I mean everything starting from finding a suitable askvin in a suitable place, without killing it and getting it into a safe pen in a very dangerous biome, till the moment you can get a saddle on it
why can't I launch chickens in a catapult at my enemies?
Slippery slope fallacy is slippery.
that's a bloody good question
I've never really bothered with taming in valheim, it has never seemed worthwhile, but learning that asksvin can traverse lava really made me want some. But man taming is terrible in this game. And then it can be dead in seconds, with you having incredibly little control
man, my wolf, boar, lox, chicken breeders definitely disagree that it's not worthwhile
my wolf army killed moder and yagluth for me. taming and breeding has been fun and useful
my wolf army deals with raids before I can even run over and check it out
Askvin and lava is tricky. The lava gives no indication of how deep it is and I've died numerous times on the back of a "lava-proof" Askvin.
Oh really... In that case forget it, I'm not even mad anymore knowing I can still die from lava on an asksvin
I also tried the catapults, theyre a fun idea but practically pointless and frustrating to use
I've not tried them yet; mostly because I can't see how they would be efficient. Ballistas are great, but catapults?! Why?
we obviously need trebuchets
They're good for fortresses.
Compared to battering rams?
Well, you don't take the door out with them, but sure.
And the battering ram? Why are you at the front of it? It squashes you into the door spikes, you then get mobbed by enemies the second the door breaks, get confused as to whether or not you're still attached to the thing and end up dying or feeling incredibly embarrased... Later on you go back to the catapult to destroy the inner door to spend the next 5 minutes trying to get it through the door!
I expected the explosive catapult rounds to be able to destroy the walls but no
That one I don't know.
I refuse to go into suggestiions now, knowing that Derek is banned. It's a silent protest.
The least effective protest.
Why? I agree with the ban.
Even doubly so, then. I'll silenty protest even HARDER.
Shh! Protest more quietly.
hmm. i'm divided about the arbalest. low rate of fire does not compliment my horrendous aim
but getting that initial sneak attack where i can take my time does, since i often get the drop on mobs
If you can't shoot straight the arbalest is awful.
i can shoot straight at first. Then once i'm engaged by the enemy, all bets are off. π
But a levelled crossbow skill and a Storm-Ripper will one-shot an unaware Askvin.
arbalest is like a sniper rifle. it's fun and handy but if an enemy sees you and isn't almost dead, just use something else
yeah, i'm considering if I want to pause my mistlands exploration to get more iron for this
it's basically hitscan
you can hit stuff so far away that it registers a hit but doesn't tick damage
it's quite fun
lol. i have been doing that with a regular bow in the plains. Generally against berserkers. they are big targets that I hit from WAY far out
i was wondering why they didn't move when i dinged them
when i got it and went to level skill up a bit, i went to my lox tower and shot a distant lox like 300 times
Before Ashlands, the arbalest was so much fun. I could pretty much empty a Fuling village from a distance without aggroing more than 3 of them at a time.
i dont have ripper yet π¦
(For reference, I'm a huge fan of the Sniper Elite game series, so this was right up my alley).
still needa find bonemaws
Run around the coast of Ashlands. Bonemaws are so very dumb; you'll find one in minutes.
i just have been on a skyrim stint. still need to find bonemaws and tame asksvins annddd find dyrnwyn parts and fight fader..
so deconstructing all the stairs and blocks outside the infested mine got me about 4 stacks of black marble. not bad
maybe 3.5
How good is the arbalest against the gjall?
Iβd like to hope itβs a one shot on the weak point but that sounds too op
regular gjall has 1500 health
very good if you can get a sneakshot to the belly.
Whatβs the highest possible damage ?
well, what's the damage bonus for hitting the weak spot?
Does root armor boost its damage or only bows
only bows
if you can sneakshot the belly it'll only take another 1-3 bolts to kill it. probably won't even have time to attack you.
so belly is "very weak"
which means it's x2 damage
what's the unaware damage bonus?
oh, based on weapon
200 damage
3x on arbalest
so level 1 arbalest is 200 x 3 x 2
which is only 300 away from a 0 star gjall. not bad!
lvl 4 is only 209 DMG lmao
of course, gjall tend to find me first
this doesn't factor in skills however. i don't know if crossbow skill improves arbalest damage. i assume so?
Even a lvl 4 ripper at 229 canβt take out a gjall
I think that should be changed tbh
i dunno. gjall are supposed to be uber in the mistlands. and if you're sniping it with a ripper, finishing it off is no big deal
Lvl 4 ripper stealth kill + weak point and itβs Ashlandβs tier
nahhhh, being able to one-shot a gjall is less fun
it's only 1 biome lower. not a crazy
Thereβs only 1 biome above it
as it is you can keel em with 3 shots
right, lets assume we don't get the backstab bonus
why do all my chickens huddle in 1 small little corner?
Can you get backstab on gjall weak point with ranged?
3 shots from an arbalest is pretty strong to take it out
assuming all 3 hit in the weak spot
idt all 3 hits need to be belly even. i stop aiming that carefully after it's moving toward me
You can get a bonus from unaware. Is that what you mean?
2 belly shots prolly take it out
Max possible damage is 1200* right
So 1200 + 200x2 when a gjall has 1500 hp is a 2 shot
with a 200 dmg crossbow*
you can't get unaware bonus twice...and 200 is max damage at lvl 100 crossbows skill. still, point is, crossbows are very effective for gjalls
Anecdotally, if I get a surprise shot on a Gjall, I can kill it in three shots with the Arbalest (skill level variable).
But all of them need to hit the belly.
What is an efficent way to haul in ore from an inland area? Basically set up a temporary portal?
well not portal unless you have that setting changed, but so no portal
Have a straight road to the coast and a boat waiting
if mountain cart downhill to nearest coast
Cart. Unless it's small amounts, then just run with as much as you can carry.
i had a few spots where running with some ore, portalling back, repeat, was more efficient. the landscape wasn't good for cart at all
A cart. It's designed to be useful for mass-transit.
Gravity is your friend. Any time you can move stuff down-hill is good.
Alternatively, play with a friend. Encumbrance-swapping is a great way to move stuff faster.
yeah it an area where cart ain't gonna work, gonna have to search around closer to home or coast for more copper
I will generally put a workbench, portal, and a couple of chests by the shore, one chest will have boat supplies. Portal so that I can return to base at night.
yeah I got a dock set up north of my starting base. I need to pick a new spot to just re-build main base that near ocean so it a one stop go instead of carting back
I think my boat is full of tin at moment though, so that nice, but tin never my issue
you can always spend some time with the hoe and leveling a road for the cart, if you like your base location where it is
but a coastal base is normally the way to go
Then at each ore location I'll do a bench and a chest (or if actively mining/collecting ore, another portal, again so I can return to base at night). And was all sites are fully mined/collected, I will then start moving each individual chest of ore to the closest one to the shore, before then moving everything there to shore.
100%. A good jetty is worth the effort.
yeah, an inland base has to be a reeeally nice spot to make up for the lack of direct shipping
How much landscape prep I do and whether I use a cart or not, will depend on the ore quantity.
yeah it just my starting base, really small and tight just so able to produce what I need for now. I think I know where I want to re-locate to, re-setting up everything shouldn't take more than 2hrs
everything good takes more than 2hrs. except coffee.
nah I know my layout for "starter"
One Swamp I paved into, but that had like 50 stacks of iron in the crypts we'd cleared (and there's still more to clear).
now granted it'll take me days to then build up what I want
oh I just realized I think I have enough troll fur to finally finish upgrading
If it's helpful, (PC option incoming) you can hold down <SHIFT> when you use the hoe to level ground and it will average the level with each click (practically, this makes a good slope).
troll rugs when
Our main base is 'inland' on an island in a river. A really nice location.
and I just found a copper deposit next to where i parked my boat, I missed
I learnt this way too late, lol.
Shift sets it to the land you standing on I thought, and no-shift flattens based on where you pointed
Can I find asksvins eggs by itself? or do I need to breed them?
No, shift 'smooths' and no-shift just levels.
Or, in other words, if you are making a ramp, without shift you get steps, with shift you don't.
Try it running up a hill. If it helps, great; if not, you do you.
We have a boss mother, inside the dark lands
That's an awesome opener for a D&D game! But, for Valheim... what?
oh that hurts, I forgot my nails for the cart....
Manicures are important.
moder ran into mistlands
google translate is flawless.
We can't get the silver out(
where is mother? in mountains, or in mist?
In the mountains , around which the misty lands
has mother been killed before? finding a different mountain may be better right now
Do you want some help?
Don't kill
Why was I been muted, for Russian?
If you weren't given a reason, you probably just accidentally trigerred the automod with a word in its database.
and the automod can be extremely triggerhappy at times
It's got a lot of words, in several languages.
some names too
What's the Welsh term for "I'm going to bed"?
which may or may not be identical with words
The misty lands are hard
it may be better to find a different mountain right now, and go back to find moder when you're ready
yes, best to stay away until later
So we have 400 silver there
can you sneak it out?
Mist can be very annoying if youβre unlucky enough to run into a variety of the creatures of the biome at the same time
We are marching our way in the form of plains, hooray
It's very difficult now, but right now we'll try to do it across the plains
What?! You can't sneak when you're encumbered, and 400 silver is multiple trips.
how many people? do you have belts?
2
π good luck!
Thanks...
I would suggest encumberance switching, then. Have one person carry it all to their stamina max while the other guards their progress, then switch roles.
Repeat.
Damn wolves
What???
Or, use a cart. They're pretty useful on mountains because you can just push them down the hill and then collect everything and recreate at the bottom.
We all found direct contact between the black forest and the mountain
Have one of your two people carry all of the silver until their stamina runs out. Then drop it all and have the other person pick it up. Whoever is not carrying the silver protects the other player from enemies.
Our progress does not allow us to kill enemies from the misty lands, we are find way out
fishing at night is hard, cant see anything
fish don't despawn. if you see them in a spot, you can come back
does anyone know if you can see what day number it is anywhere? if you miss it when a new day starts
jump off of something really high and look at your death marker?
great idea
XD
alternatively, you could just sleep
yeah, the scenario is i just did sleep, but i missed it, and i wanted to check the weather for the day using a web site
i didn't know that was possible
yes. because it's against our #rules-and-info
automod removes 1000's of words
does the name of a former us president still trigger the automod when used as verb?
yup
that one is a bit overkill tbh
instant mute for that is eh
it's a 10 minute mute tho
yeah, which is hyper annoying when you have a conversation
and most of the times, our mods will see the auto-mod trigger and remove the timer
just killed some loxs
autmod isn't perfect
on my way to that lox fur cape
its the opposite of perfect. shame on the idios which make it necessary
well..........................
people have agreed to follow the rules π
but yeah
here we are
why can't i change my server profile display name anymore?
well, you know the thing with rules xd
ill steal that one
i finally found a 5 fish
i kinda figured it would be a 5, took all 230 stamina in like 2 sec
yeah, you kinda need to cheese those
when is the best time to find a serpant to fight? i haven't seen one in almost 300 days of this world
you'll only see them in the Ocean biome, and only at night or during a thunderstorm.
ok, thanks
best to go on ocean in night when there is a storm, it raises your chances
yea i had to cast my line like 3m out, and spam e as i reeled it in
Swamp chests or wraith drops
alright
anyone know the technical details of boar breeding? Not simply 'you get two boars, tame them, feed them and boom! ' but actuall details like: After feeding, how many seconds to get hearts? after hearts how many seconds or % chance a piglet will spawn?
That is still not specific enough to answer my question
"After gaining enough love points, the creature becomes pregnant, which is not visualized. After a set time, the creature gives birth" okay how many love points are needed? what is the "set time"
did you scroll down?
What is "enough" love points? What is "set time"
we dont know
Scroll down and it tells you
you can count it if you want, its indicated by the hearts
not sure about boars, but as I recall from Lox, it's about 3x pink hearts showing then about two in-game days to give birth.
and you have set time uder it
Definitely not 2 in game days. Just watched the same pig give birth 5 times in 1 day
actually, the others are correct. if you scroll down, it says exactly how many and how long.
Thereβs a table on the wiki that tells all the numbers
pregnancy: { points: 3, time: 60, chance: 0.33, grow: 3000, childId: 'Boar_piggy' }
Ok so something like Every 30 seconds, 33% chance to get a love point. After 3 love points 60 seconds later it will birth a piglet
Yes
with 4 pigs doing that, pretty much can get a steady stream of piglets coming in
Probably
lol
Need to expand my hill so I can breed some boars in there. Wondering how Iβll get them up there tho π€ harpoon?
Can you drag animals up walls with harpoon?
You need a ramp. Roof tiles work. Harpoon and pull them up. I did it with just pushing a boar before. With fencing to keep them on the ramp.
Good stuff
Might just build an off hill farm tho
So I wonβt have to mess with that all the time
If possible you can/ should dig a deep pit. That's 8 meters of the 10-12 you need.
So your tower isn't huge
Depends on how close the spot is to sea level.
Itβs pretty close so Iβve raised my hill pretty high
My wolf/ boar farm is at sea level so I had a big ramp lol.
The second wolf farm I built I could dig down. Way nicer
Wolf meat is great eventually also.
Wolf skewers and wolf jerky.
Not to mention you breed an army. π
howd you get chickens without killing yag?
I got eggs from sealed tower before killing Yag
Oh yeah thatβs great hp right?
Read it again
ah thats fair
ah
Need to make it bat and drake safe tho.. first time I bred chickens I got a bat raid that wiped all of them out π
Yep. All my farms are closed.
No risks!
yea i honestly made a small house for them
One of the players in my group never learn. Lost soooo many animals to flying raids π€£
βBut they feel better if they can run free in natureβ
lol
Ok buddy. But youβll feel worse because youβll have no food π€£
Put some nature in the building
my chickens live nicer than i did
I play this other survival game and I notice them taking stuff from each other (or probably from all of the other billion survival games out there) but I like seeing something in game 1 that I want in game 2 and vice versa and then it comes just like theyβre just monitoring each other
Itβs almost as if game devs are gamers. lol
how do i get my chikens to stop grouping in a corner?

back to the mistlands! with blackmetal this time
can i smelt the copper stuff from mistlands with a normal forge?
Yes
huge, that makes stuff 10x easier
idk how mistlands usually is, but the one i found is scattered with so much old weapons and armor
Thereβs usually a lot of those in the flat areas
so I just discovered that fishing bait counts as a launched object. I casted too close to my dome.
are you sure you're looking far enough out from centre? I usually find lots of swamps long before I find Haldor.
Just go sailing around in your Karve. Swamp are almost always on a coast.
you have to be at least 2000m out from centre.
When that was happening to us it was because chickens are afraid of fire even though they're tame. Yet.. their eggs need fire to hatch.. is weird
oh interesting
thats probably what it is
Is anyone able to join my server and give me bronze? Im on xbox
Spawn it in
How?
I donβt know how to do console commands on console, you can probably google it
Ok thanks
Nun of them work
You need to type βdevcommandsβ first to enable it
i put off grinding barley because i had a full chest, forgot that stuff goes by fast
you should be able to type βspawn bronze [amount you want]β assuming youβre server host
Yeah I found it now I opened the wrong thang
how long does it take for fish to respawn?
They spawn in like any other creature, usually about a 50% chance every about 2 minutes but you could check the wiki for better information
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Spawn_zones?so=search this is information on every spawn including fish
ohhh ty ty
does each angler fish only make 1 fish and bread no matter the grade?
Yes
The thing about playing modded valheim is hard to get back to vanilla π€£
I just had the worst death, was in top of mountains and as soon as I was about to eat again, an ice golem pushed me, and I felled like 5km
I got executed in the worst way possible, and my portal was in my backpack
RIP πͺ¦
Guys what's this weird stone thing of water with stairs in the swamp?
are bows/crossbows useful in ashlands? If so which one should I make?
I like the root fang. With a high enough bow skill you can shoot fast enough to lock single enemies (like bossed) effectively in place.
not really imo. maybe late into it. or unless you have really high range or doing range only
I feel their is a lot of cool GOT mods to be done with this game
With the green torch right? If so itβs nothing, donβt jump into the water, you will get stuck
xbow, excellent opening burst dps, can help make it so the hoards pretty much get an automatic -1 to their count, which can be the difference between surviving and dying
Deep North when? π
The Adventures of Beer (Myself) Steak (My Son) and Mushroom (My Daughter) just found 5 Black Cores, and are getting excited to move into Mistlands Gear. We so hyped!
Mushroom wants to play a Mage, with Fire Staff, is it Viable?
Yes, especially in a group
okok, Valheim Devs, I understand the lack of Iron that you like always have in this game. its fine, its okay. you added some veins into Swamp. Great. I got used to it. But there is zero point zero Reason to make Soft Tissue a Bottleneck. Add more Soft Tissue sources or let me craft it or something. Its annoying af.
You can get it from the crates in dvergr structures
2 in one crate lol
yeah it'll be good. it becomes a lot weaker in the ashlands though due to the nature of the enemies there. be mindful that has knockback for better and worse
kinda a weird question but signs look pretty boring anyone have any ideas how I can make them look better?
You can use the color tag, and a few others to make your signs look better
Morning folks ^^
Mornin
I recently picked up Valheim after a long hiatus , Ashlands is out now and im eager to see all the cool new stuff
(when im finished with building a nice home)
You looking for a dedicated server by chance?
Ah yea Iβm trying to get some kind of PvPvE server going
Solo ashlands is tough stuff
You give me an idea , i might build an arena
Thatβs what Iβm trying to get at my man
Slight rp have tourneys and stuff
Good weapons for prizes or something for winner idk
That sounds like a cool idea
Im currently building my main mansion on the shores of the starter island , not far from Spawn
i kinda wanna expand this into a town
Yea Iβd send a screenshot of what Iβve got so far on this server but Iβm on Xbox so idk how
Thank god there is creative building , otherwise id be hauling materials forever
Oh yea for sure
Same
Carts are always fun
GT is Tyrael01
Do they still flip in the frequency of rally cars?
Yep
Well it wouldnt be valheim with all the jank inbetween π
Whatβs your gamerpic?
Masterchief
Thought so
imma post a screenshot when im home today evening π
Nice Iβm working on a pretty big build atm just farming up mats
I played Valheim for 700 H on steam before
Approximately 600 was cracking ROCK AND STONE coughs
or choppin wood
but i couldnt be bothered with doing this all over again , so i went creative mode
ROCK AND STONE yesssir love it
Very true I just get my smooth brain itched with my skills leveling
i managed one time to get 7 trees down like dominos
and then they rolled into my house, cracked open the wall
Always fun seeing em fall down together and save a bunch of time
Get trolls to do it for ya
We added a world modifier for people who don't like to mine so much. Bigger drop rates π
do tree stumps remain forever or do new trees grow out of them?
They remain
they remain to show your progress when you can overlook an entire forest of stumps
also to get stuck on and break your cart while trying to avoid a confrontation with a troll
