hm ok, ty
patch notes for today's update?
We haven't had an update today.
51.1kb update today or yesterday?
Updates that small and without a patch note are usually from the distributors (steam, Xbox, ect.). Might Wana check if there are any notes there since there aren't any here.
didn't realise steam could update valheim without irongate, interesting + thanks
Platforms can and do update all games on them without publishers knowing or caring.
Because the platform updates don't affect anything the publisher is doing.
I figured that would be a steam update, not a game update though. Good to know!
I am very surprised there has not been a patch update
Really? With most of the team on vacation?
It all depends on if the dev team is working on something complex or not. Something less complex, like re-skinning something, wouldn't take as long as implementing something completely new.
There is also the issue that Derek brought up of vacation as well.
We have had 2 ptb updates... So is it really shocking to not have a patch with them on vacation?
No.
Not shocking at all.
Given there is heated debate on both sides of the changes they are proposing.
Not all content in PTB makes it to live I would imagine. It's their testing grounds like a limited release of a product in select markets.
So option A would be "fuck everyone who dislikes this, ship it."
And option B is "let it cook. See if there is a sweet spot."
The sweet spot is another slider but that's a good amount of effort
I'm just saying that typically there is a public patch very shortly after ptb..
Typically for Valheim?
Because I'm sure if we pulled all previous patch dates and compared, "typical" behavior wouldn't be what you think it is π
Shortest PTB to live I have seen was a month(?) To 6 weeks I think.
Guess I'm dumb. Thanks yall
Exploring an infested mine rn.. so far died to 2 star tics and 2 star seekers?? what
Mines are more starred than Mistlands.
Use the iron sledge. Since it sounds like you cannot make Demolisher yet. The AoE makes things MUCH easier.
Or the 2 versions of a stink bomb. The poison is helpful on smaller enemies like ticks and broodlings.
is demolisher worth it?
True, they do help.
I just got last black cores I need
Absolutely.
My wife and I are big fans of Demolisher.
5000%
Its a slaughter, most of the time, when we are both using it in the mines.
Anything that has an explosion AoE can hit through walls. From enemies and even you
And demolisher has a large aoe
Yep. Very nice for killing seekers behind those secret doors.
Bonus is it is blunt instead of slash or pierce damage
Does that really matter in the Mistlands? Except for maybe with tics, pretty much everything is resistant to every damage type.
Someone did a breakdown of resistance types a while ago and blunt was the least resisted. Pierce was the most(I blame the bows).
I have nearly max mistlands armor and a 2star tick deals 21dmg per hit
However, the big hammers are great for dealing with tics.
Well yeah... it's a 2 star.
Demolisher, at lvl 3, kills the 2 stars in 3 to 4 hits. My skill is in the 60 range.
Plus it knocks them off and away, so stops the damage while your killing them.
Knockback for Demolisher is over 200.
Outside of Mistlands yes, inside no, it's on the same level as slash and pierce
oh yeah forgot those were possible
Yeah, I think only tics are not resistant to blunt. Regardless, the Iron Sledge and Demolisher are great against tics.
Is it better to upgrade ashlands weapons before crafting the variants that require bloodstones and the like?
Using the stones resets the item to lvl 1.
Oh bummer, so better to do the variants first then huh?
Thats how I will do it.
What lightning?
what happens if you upgrade a weapon with a gemstone in it? does it get rid of the effect?
ballista need buff
Mistlands ballista still suck. Even assigning a trophy doesn't make them any less sucky.
Fought a gjall, with a gjall trophy assigned, and the thing didn't even fire one time.
Yet they have no problem targeting you if you have it set to everything :p
It would be nice if you could add multiple trophies.
And then of course improve the dmg and targeting
Probably because it wasn't within its range.
It's 45Β° in a 28m range
Gjalls and trolls are their specialty
Well, actually anything that's big and slow, Berserkers too
I respectfully disagree. I watched 2 trolls take out two ballista and barely got a scratch
Blood is better in Slayer, Lighting is good on most weapons, but primal is just amazing at boss killing ngl
Primal Fang has some potential, but Primal axes carry the primal weapons by far
It was every where from directly above to no more than 20 meters away. It only went directly over head because of how it pathed past a near by tower.
If you put them in the troll"s range the result is expected
Which ammo?
black metal
THey just threw rocks at them
ALthough they did eventually close the gap and just finish them off and a huge portion of the wall
I've had my ballistae destroy the most dangerous enemies without me barely intervening π€·
And I'm sure they're not different from any other's
Ashlands was very good, will Deep North be the last update for the game?
disagree with gjalls. Most of ballista efficiency is killing unwarned targets, like Fullings and Squitos, especially those who dont own a huge hp pool
but probably a good placement does change it
I'm with you. The Gjall weakspots are clearly not targeted by the ballistae.
Idk about Deep North being the last Content Expansion of the game. But im certain that many bugs will be fixed to reach the 1.0 (Official launch)
Am I missing something? Mace and sword only show blood and primal for me.
I think dlcs would be great ideas, armor, weapons, a new completely different map something like that
Even the roadmap now is outdated, somethings contained in it have not yet arrived in the game
It's not a content expansion, it's the final biome of the planned game.
Eh, forgot about Early acess
The roadmap was discontinued in May 2021 and hasn't been relevant since then.
Valheim devs want to give us a full experience. So i wont be surprised if Deep North + few things added and π₯ game completed
I didn't know that, but now that you've said it, it explains a lot.
"Die like a hero, or live long enough to become a villain"
Hopefully that includes ocean biome updates
glad we got another seamonster, disapointed the meat can't be used in any recipie other than cooking it
Maybe they'll do that as a DLC
Obviously we're getting an ocean biome update
We are not getting DLCs, we've been told that a thousand times.
I dont know how bad this is π. But many corps just chop the game in many pieces and sell many DLC's
What happened to the Save option? It doesn't do anything these days.
If lost connection or a blackout is the case the only save that can actually SAVE is leaving the game and wait for the steam cloud
Sleeping seems to work too
I'm talking about the Save option in the menu
How can i find tuna fish? i dont see him swimming in surface of deep ocean
Only bad things about them is the accuracy sometimes failing and projectiles should be much faster so they're much effective.
Other than that, they do the job well enough. You are still meant to fight off attacks on your end, making the perfect defense solutions just for you to always feel safe isn't their plan clearly, raids are the proof that you are not meant to feel safe all the time.
Especially when afk is involved
Tuna is Valheim's closest thing to a 'drive by'. I've not had any real issue catching them, but they do tend to just blast through the area of your cast at speed.
I haven't even seen a Tuna this play through. Seen all the rest, though, aside from Ashlands and The North.
I even see the other fish swimming on the surface, but I've never seen any tuna, just cast the bait and wait then?
I've been wondering if new worlds don't even generate Tuna.
I got one now, it just came out of nowhere hahahah
Your world a new one? IE after Ashlands?
The lvl 5 tuna that's hanging on my wall was a product of me plucking it from the beach on which it decided to have a little nap.
Lvl 5's have been extremely rare. I have yet to even catch a lvl 4, but my skill is still low, and I have not been eating the best Stamina foods.
Yeh, you don't catch a lvl 5. You wait until the weather dumps it on a rock and pick it up before it wriggles back into the water.
The only thing I fish are anglers π€·ββοΈ
you can catch level 5's with low fishing skill
Thanks for believing in me.
I'm trying to catch them all to get the fishing hat, I want to collect everything in the gam
Are you focussed more on obtuse or acute anglers?
I'm that kind of gamer addicted to hodgepodge
Whichever one makes the food. I am not picky.
New player here, just entered the black forest. Been watching some streams and I am noticing that no one uses 2H weapons. Are they just horrible imbalanced compared to 1H/Shield or Bows?
Atgeir is one of the best weapons for progression in game
Bronze and Iron Atgeir saved me many times. But i understand why people preffer maces and swords instead of it.
Pierce is a type of Damage with many mobs that resist to it
I would give It a try anyway.
hey i got a early team in the black forest dm if u wanna join
can anyone give me eikthyr trophy please? just need 1 for my church
How many potions should I make before going to the mountains, need to make the cape first
Is there a way to upgrade black forge to level 6 yet? or is 5 the max for ashlands?
If you are playing solo, just use devcommands/developer console. Or fight it again since it is the easiest boss.
That depends on your luck on finding wolves and getting a trophy. I typically make 10 and make 5 more once I run out if I haven't found one by time the 10 run out.
(I think it's 5 per fermenter)
Frost resistance? Brew it twice for the 12 and you'll likely be set
i believe level 5 is the highest, if not, im missing something big time
is that ashlands nerf almost out?
anyone know of a mod that allows building in caves
I hope so
5 is currently the highest. Most biomes you are 1 below the eventual max for the sets your making. (Bronze was lvl 3 until swamps, etc...)
Paused until they release it.
What nerf?
making the biome less agrivating and annoying
They have reduced spawn rates and eliminated the leviathan drop on nodes. Currently on PTR
Was hoping basalt bomb timer increase, but didn't see anything about that.
Oh, yeah. Thats been the case ever since the initial 5 were released. π Part of why we did a new world/play through. Hopefully, by the time we get to the Ashlands, they will have it all balanced out.
It's awful. I totally get the complaints now.
You can't get anything done cause it's an endless stream of combat
i LOOOVE fighting 7 warriors that respawn faster then i can kill them
Blame Grimmcore. He wanted the feeling of being at war.
I think the pack sizes would be okay if they had significantly less hp with some time in between respawns. But as it stands, it's just endless and frustrating. CR is a nightmare, even when portal is like 100 yards away. CR in lava is even worse.
id be fine with fighting so many
IF THEY WERENT SO GOD DAMN TANKY!
Understandable. Now I think I am glad we are having so much trouble finding dungeons and black cores and seal breaker pieces. Sounds like they need the time to adjust things.
I spent an hour last night running the gauntlet trying to get my body in lava. If you can manage to reach the edge of hell, then it's a game of trying to get basalt down before the angry mob reaches you, dodging fireballs, etc. It's too much.
ts is actually hell
I've lost 8 sword levels in about 10 hours spent in that hell hole
i cant fucking use my blood magic because staff of protection takes like 2 seconds to cast time i DO NOt have
they are really not tho
And what irks me most is, in several hours last night, we got like 45 ore lol. One weapon costs like 20 bars
like 3-4 fireballs with a level 2 ember staff
Also high spawn rate gives every 4-5 minutes a 1 or 2 star enemy.
yes
i hold firm in my opinion 2 star mobs SHOULD NOT apper unless you beat that biomes boss/ reach a certin goal
because there is nothing more unfun then getting one tapped by a 2 star anything because you JUST came into the new biome and your armor/food isnt up to par
Everything is tanky when you first go into a biome. Mistlands was similarly crazy the first month or two after release. Its much easier now. That or I have just become that much better at fighting.
They can be killed
they made mistlands more easy p sure
It's just when you have 20 other things at the same time it gets overwhelming
1 miss step and its over
not to mention with my level 3 froststaff i still need like a solid 15-18 seconds of beaming to kill ONE 2 star charred warrior
Maybe at night and on certain situations
I have yet to see a 2 star gjall, solider, or seeker outside of a dungeon yet. I have been running around a LOT at night. Back when it was first released? Practically guaranteed to run into at least 1 of them as a 2 star.
i was lucky enough to never encounter a 1 or 2 star gjall in my time in the mistlands
I ran into a 2 star on a group server. I was the only one not insta killed, because I jumped. π
I did and was a weird kiting moment
I dislike it until we get the feathered cloak, then I love it.
AND ATLEAST THERE WASNT 18 ENEMY'S EVERYWHERE!
It grew on me, still I dislike mist
More like 50
i still think once you kill the queen the mist should thin up
I feel like i"ve seen a 2 star seeker outside, but mostly in mines
not be gone but be less thick
I like it better once I figured out how to find clear areas in the Mistlands. Which is by design, btw. The map shows you.
Great idea
How do you tell?
Solid black areas on the map are clear.
the main thing i dislike about the mistlands grind is uh
I just thought it was a glitched area lol
personally ashlands is fun, but the amount of times where my health reached single digits is too close for comfort for me
oh my god refined etir is so annoying to get
i fell like the ashlands are way easier than a month ago, it feels like the enemies are easier and that there are less of em
Thats about the usual time line for their toning down the lethality.
just to be sure none of the ashlands staff's take refined etir... Right?
Unfortunately, they do love hearing our lamentations.
Papa i dont wanna go skull hunting no more
a lil bonk with the berserkir axes calms them down
I will say the 2 star charred warriors look cool af
All sparkly and shit. LIke a walking death disco
me and my brother had to cheat alil to actually get to the ashlands
he got onetapped by a 2 star and i didnt bring enough wood for the workbench so i could get my port down π
you can get soft tissue from caves in ashlands
oops
We did that once too. Chopping trees is a great way to bring hell down on yourself
There would not happen to be any uh... FIRE TROLLS in them caves?
no but there is morgen
I swear you chop or pick something you get everything in a 500 yard raidus
and there's a chance for one star to appear, it happened to me
its like getting troll ambushed in the blackforest all over again
Morgens.
and uh.. how hard are morgens?
Need me some 2-star Morgen.
Trying to farm sinews.
Ashland troll equivalent
at 100 armor, with bonemass
THey aren't that hard. Similar to a tree in swamp. It's them plus 50 other things that makes it miserable.
meh my brother is running full carapace so if we both have bonemass and i spam protection should be fine
Oh and also, the sheer destruction the mobs leave in their wake is a difficulty setting on it's own. I had at least 3 deaths where I was desparately trying to loot while dodging the zerg and couldn't cause I picked up so much trash along my run
granted it is level 1 carapace so idk
just like trolls, golems and abominations: if its only one without ads its easy
turn off auto pickup
yeah remember to disable auto pickups for your runbacks
I debated disabling it, but still unsure.
and try to avoid having 300+ weight if you can
It's convenient, until it's not
but yeah I guess for running I need to disable it for that at least
also getting my skelton trophys SUCKED man
it took me so long to find a good burial chamber
you get a bonemaw trophy yet? coolest in the game imo
i got like a pile of 350-400 bones behind my oven
i have yet to see anything but
all 3/4 charred
Vultures
and askvin
the bonemaws are in the water. Surprised they haven't attacked your boat
getting around those rocks was driving my brother mad π
That's the one big complaint I have, those spires in the water are just obnoxious
yeah. not to mention they dont make that much sense
Seems frequent they are close enough together that they form a wall for your huge boat
it dosent help that the ashlands boat is the size of like 3 longships taped together
And you just get trapped.
Literally better to just break the boat, put a workbench on a spare, and replace the boat on the other side.
Much safer too
Silly
heres to hoping you can use the longship for DN when that gets finished
Do all the components float?
It's a cool boat, I like it, but the spires definitely suck.
Also its annoying how easy it is to dmg your boat. Most weapon swings hit it often and do full dmg.
The player should probably do partial dmg.
Iron nails don't.
I don't even know, I stand right in the center when hitting it and everything is picked up instantly.
its also the only boat that can SAFELY transport boar wolfs lox and askvin off and on islands
I didn't find the spires to be that bad. We had enough room to maneuver
Maybe different on other seeds?
Probably varies. RNG and all that.
I've definitely ran into 3 or 4 of the like C shapes of LOLYOUSHALLNOTPASS
2 Ashlands playthroughs
yeah gotta hope for good pillar rng
We ran into a couple trying to talk to Hugin tho as he kept appearing on them
Finally we just said f it and continued until we found land
there was a guy that played valhiem in reverse
was it some random guy?
that challenge is 100% impossible now
nah
My only challenge is to never die. I've made it to the Queen, twice, before dying. So I think its still within the realm of possibility.
The necks killed me in the first 2 minutes of gameplay.
i sure do hope you have a blackmetel atiger for the vomit
Especially since I do it without parrying or rolling. If I used those, I think I have a very good chance.
Demolisher.
that also works'
i played mage so i wasnt worried about the vomit spawn
I still focus on melee, but I do make and play around with the magic.
gl
magic staff grind is really rough
We have only found 9 cores and 4 pieces. So still grinding anyways.
meh
what i did was just swap between black forge and gaulder table for awhile until i had enough cores for all 3
Thats what we have been doing. Only thing off the magic table we have made is the cloak. We will worry about magic once we have 15 cores.
i didnt even upgrade my magic 'armor'
At least we have a Queen location, so its mostly about meeting the numbers.
too much linen thread and etir for each upgrade
Oh, thats right. Guess I better start growing a lot of flax again.
i have like 108 thread
I think we still have over 200 linen.
5 stacks of flax.
So plenty to grow a lot, fast.
i found 7 plants of magecaps was enough to sustain my cooked mushroom and seeker aspic production
We have hundreds of each. Almost a full black metal chest of Jotunns.
its very easy to say i have . alot of eggs
We have over 8 stacks of chickens, 15 stacks of eggs. So not feeling any "need" right now.
Even have over 5 stacks of lox, for that platter.
you got plently of blood clots seeker meat and turnips right?
We did not tame any this play through. So purely hunting lox this time.
bro's stocking food for the winter
Yeah, over 2 stacks of clots, and something like 5 stacks of seeker.
Real
bro is preparing for a crash
Nice
id advise just mass producing
seeker aspic and stuffed mushrooms
We like to go long periods of time without having to worry about food. So we only plant and/or hunt every few real life days. Then we gather a lot of it. Things like Seeker just throw themselves at us, so those are easy.
i view yggdrasil porrage as a waste of barly and sap
I didn't even know that was a food.
its like 3 sap 2 barly and smth else
For mages, I presume?
mhm
seekr aspic is very easy to make
royal jelly
seeker meat
mage caps
and it makes in 2's!
Hopefully I will like the magic better. I did all my previous playing early after the Mistlands release. Did public test, then the public release for about a month. Then took the 15 month break.
I did not like the magic for combat.
magic kinda suffers in lower player groups
its def more supportish
especially in mist lands
Magma fish dont bait, just for me?
Most of my first play through was with a group. Magic was pretty devastating with 2 or more of us throwing it around.
after all 2 of your 4 staffs in mist lands are more support focused
You sure you have the correct bait?
Yep, correct bait, check but dont bite
Yeah, only times I run into that is with the wrong baits. Maybe do a restart and try again?
I mean a full system restart to clear the cache, etc....
Wasnt there a bug for magma fishing?
yeah, tho in ptb it should be fixed
? bro what
Speaking of fishing, any way to make it not ass? Does the leaving the lure 2 feet away from you still work?
Is there a console way to regenerate an area of the map you've cut trees in? Or to regenerate specific trees you've cut?
Higher skill + stamina foods.
Also same question for regenerating nodes that have been damaged and split into multiple chunks (like stone pillar)
Not like a "revert to previous state" kinda command, but you could spawn in trees, rocks and ore deposits. It would still look like someone was there because there isn't a good way (that I know of) to restore the earth that was mined away.
I'm not modifying the terrain, and I've reset my world to a previous save before it happened, but apparently at some point something (probably a lox stomp) hit the stone pillar I'd like to build on and both destroyed a yggdrasil shoot (not that important) and also did pickaxe damage to the pillar itself and triggered the fracture mechanic (more concerning)
I'd like to recover from that if it's possible without rolling the whole save back
Oh magma fish is bugged
Then ya, just figure out that the devcommand name for that rock is and spawn it in and it should be good as new.
Someone know any trick to catch without fishing?
Yes
And implemented when able to
You can also make storm traps. They can capture a lot in a well populated spot.
Storm trap?
Yes, such as roof tiles in a U shape.
How deep should those be? Seem hard to build in deeper water
should the roof be submerged, or above the water line?
Friend built one and it didn't seem to work.
As deeply as you can when its calm. Storms do the rest.
Do 3 to 4 long, block the ends.
Do not leave the bench, so they respawn.
thanks
your welcome
that fire weakness on the feather cape makes me not want to use it in the mistlands
you don't really need it as well, they just killed the small QoL
Fire resistance mead overrides the weakness
does it neutralize it?
No, you get a 0.5 resistance as if you didnβt have the cape
So yeah, it neutralises it...
Also, I always thought it gave very resistant to fire.
Now I know why yagluth's attacks still hit hard despite it
Itβs not just a small qol anymore, it increases jump height and reduces jump stamina so itβs incredibly useful in combat.
oh, interesting, thank you
How do I do that?
Does this respawn the rock where it was or are you saying to basically try to place a similar one in a similar location via dev commands
similar rock in a similar location. wont be exact but it will be close
It's worth it. Just use fire pots on the helljelly's
Does Tin respawn I forget?
No
Thanks
the item ID you will likely need is:|| HeathRockPillar|| . just use the spwan devcommand and that code for a large plains pillar of rock. There are likely others, but that was the first to look correct of everything listed as "rock" on this list: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Item_IDs#Other
Nice! I thought it felt much closer to flying this play through!
I asked in mod help
But anyone knows how to fix lights and shaddow in game ?
I always adjust my monitor backlight and brightness to be able to see. I cant us torches as they make the game unplayable
There is no in-game brightness option (so mods help was the right place to ask), but how do torches make the game unplayable?
Its just the brigthness and contrast.
Because the torch is place poorly.
Normally when people use torch they hold it BEHIND their head as to not have the light in the eyes. This game does not consider that and hold the torch in thge middle of the screen making it super bright and the rest just looks dark.
Its so distracting.
$4 playthrough I dont use the torches.
Anyway running at night and only seeing dark and shadows is actually much more fun.
Also fire anywhere makes smokke, mist, cloud, like like absolute trash.
It does not look good nor give a realistic sense to it ( maybe for some young folks)
But the torch is a NO GO for me.
I even avoid doing all sort of torches in my base, dvergre lamps dont tirgger much of it
' ( maybe for some young folks)' - I don't get this bit.
I mean... In 3rd person wiew there is not many places other than middle of screen for stuff your character holds
Because younger peopel are gullible, or less knowledgable that anything goes.
So torches are unplayable because they arenβt held realistically?
That is why it needs to be adjusted.
Another way to fix it.
would be to reduce the brightness of the light itself to us, but not the light on object around it litghs up
Like imagine i have a lightbulb in my house, it lights everything up but the bulb to me is not visible (
I get in a game its not easay to do so, so that is what devs need to do to overcome the reality/game wall
I need friends to play with, but I'm from Brazil and my friends who lives here doesn't play with me π¦
That's a heap of a generalisation. I'm also not sure how being gullible relates to liking the lighting in the game. (for reference I'm 45 and love the atmospheric lighting)
Fully agree with this, massive generalisation that is not based on facts. I also love the lighting and am also not a young person
I think I used a torch like twice
It was too bright and unrealistic so I stopped using it
i dont use torches but i understand why you would
As opposed to the standard, IRL amazing experience of holding open flame immediately next to your face?
They actually made decent weapons in black forest
can VR play with flatscreen?
You need a VR head set.
in the newest update? I am looking for a group and I only got one response from a non-VR group so far.
No, sorry. can VR players play with flatscreen players
Isn't there crossplay?
I heard from someone else that the VR players look weird to the flatscreen players?
I have no idea.
I didn't even know you can play it in vr!
Yeah, there is a VR version of Valheim.
holy shit imagine how annoying torches are in VR
that would be realistic
Being serious now though, wouldn't that be easy to test by just trying to join a buddy in VR mode?
That would be the ideal thing to do to find out. If this were the weekend I could ask my son to use his VR set with me.
VR isn't even officially supported in Valheim and only through mods so the whole thing is more for #mods-discussion
Huh, I could have sworn I saw a VR version on Steam, but obviously I was wrong.
what exactly is your point? I just wanted to know if anyone has played with a friend and if it works because I was invitd to a group and dont want to play alone. If no one has I can test it myself. Flatscreen to vr is a huge moddng community and jsut because it's not listen offically here doesn't make it an invalid way to enjoy the game whether you like it or not.
He is just saying the mod channel is the better channel for finding an answer to your question.
was he? that's not what I read
This is what I read, "and only through mods so the whole thing is more for..." So while not saying it how I would, the mod channel would be more likely to get an answer from someone who knows about the VR mods.
stinks
Just realized the new straw rug will take on the color of most any lighting source below it. Gorgeous pinkish white with a dragon egg below it, etc.
It is psychology, quiet literally.
There are countless of studies showing that based on age.
Not at all a generalization, I thought people knew this common knowledge ( that is generalization)
So I am sorry you were not aware of that
Human development
hello, so I'm opening valheim today and it looks like a beta version of it
all pinky and with a beta sign on the right corner
What did I do wrong? I haven't played it for about a month
Valheim is still in Early Access right now.
You still haven't related that to lighting in any way.
Yep, that's a mature response. Well done.
yeah, but this is a new screen all pinky
like bugged screen
Do you have any mods running?
What version number does it say?
I uploaded an image on #steam-bugs-discussion
$menu_mod_notice, well, that's reassuring
Guy holds torch too far forward = gullible young people is the hottest take I've seen in awhile lol
Dude is probably ranked #7 in the world for telling people to get off his lawn
Looks busted to me.
Update drivers?
Torches are hot π
Clearly need to hold torch back more.
So you know, it takes up a higher percentage of the limited camera space available. π
The camp fire on the start screen is way too bright also. Very distracting.
Sounds like something a gullible youngster would suggest
I can barely find my cursor and click start
In my day we dipped our hands in resin and light ourselves on fire directly
I geared up for a big journey to find Hildir.. found her in 15 mins
You're a Surtling?
Best way to level elemental magic naturally? Fracturing or frost, or some other option? Don't want to just spam frost on a stone golem in a hole
Best way to level anything usually involves spamming on something trapped, unfortunately.
trap a stone golem in a pit, then spam frost staff on it, pretty sure it doesn't take any damage
But that may not be the natural course of the game, it's more of grinding for levels.
unironically that's the best method lol
is dundr even worth to craft?
define worth it
stronger than other staffs
then nah not really
so why do it exists
staff of wilds, frost, trollstav, ember and staff of protection are the good ole go tos for mages now
Well it's a fun weapon that's for sure
whats fun in meleeing enemies to do a little damage
π€·ββοΈ idk i enjoy it, shotgun thing is cool
the shotgun part is cool ngl, but only that
and the game isn't hard enough to warrant running the bis stuff all the time so might as well just have fun with what's fun
cant find an abom or wraith to save my life but i just found two levi 50 feet from each other
If the game was hard, you'd just have optimizers only ever using bows and shooting everything from a mile away.
I was kind of disappointed that the Ripper doesn't shoot through enemies though.
Following that logic, they should literally remove every single staff in the game and only leave ember
i think if they could atleast leave the dundr loaded itd make it much better
like you could use it as a combo weapon or a quick sidearm
but needing to reload everytime you have it on is a bit euh
fellas my plains area is barren af
and i made a big damn base in it, complete with a 4m wide 10m deep moat too
explored around and found that this plains area is surrounded by a black forest and mistlands biome
You can't dig 10m down though?
but it only got 3 fuling villages, found 1 fuling totem, and one Lox herd, a few Tar Pits, and nothing else
no idea how deep it is exactly but its pretty deep
+/-7 is the terrain limit unless Ashlands changed something.
no idea i'll post a screenshot later, because the base was built on a slope, the depth of the northern side is deeper than the southern side i think
the moat floor is uneven as well
so far my Plains progress is limited to farming a whole bunch of Barleys and Flax, and the occassional Fuling raid for Black Metal
oh there's also a swamp nearby, which got two Surtling spawners so i made a coal/core farm out of them
yo whats the best biome to base in?
Doesn't really matter, which one you like the most tbh
Lots of people like plains bordering mistlands for ease of farming but you can always just build outposts in each biome for whatever biome specific needs there are.
yeaah i will likely end up having outposts too, but rn im still relatively early game; so im looking to figure out where to put my main one
currently based out of an old ruin in a black forest
Plains.
my base is in risen coastal island in the black forest
its neara greydwarf spawner too so its quite fun seeing the raids and the local population fight each other
still have a lot of FOBs though, like atleast 1 per biome, i have a really large farm lands in plains and mistland
Any that you like. Big plains farm and small mistlands farm will be needed either way, having lots of iron nearby also helps for every biome. Mountains does not get certain raids, but does get annoying drakes flying into your base. Meadows also does not get some raids that other biomes do. Plains near a swamp is always good if that swamp has many many crypts. BUT you can make anything work, I currently am doing a playthrough with a base in each biome, very fun. Mistlands and Ashlands the bases have a higher chance of suffering some damage unless you have knowledge and skill to properly defend them, earlier biomes a base is a bit easier to defend really.
i found a really nice base location in my co op world with a tiny mistlands next to a small plains. built the base in the plains, plenty of space for farming there, then mistlands is a tiny walk away and it has at least 3 roots so far and room for planting magecap and jotun puffs. then a swamp is across the water, mountain next to the plains, black forest across a small river, and giant mistlands all around
by far my favorite base location yet
sounds like a great spot π
Hey im not sure where to ask this but are there any mods that add boss fight music? The fights are really boring without some type of sound
there should be boss music already there
could be a bug maybe
some of the boss music is extremely good too
I'd check settings but I m not home at my PC if there also could be an option where its disabled, not sure
anyone from oce
is it a bad idea to load up a cart with 3,000 weight
Youll have issues pulling it up slants but its doable
I usually have a hoe and pick for when i need to wheel a heavy cart
kind of, i tend to keepit atleast 1000 weight unit
i had to transport like 4k once in a single cart
it was miserable
whats the best way to farm mushrooms? do they like respawn in the same spot or do u just have to explore more
They do come back in the same spot.
same way thistles are "farmed" but a bit harder cause they dont glow unless theya re the yellow ones
it certainly was miserable but i made it lol
I am from oceania
goddamn congratulations
if its far enough id prefer to just deliver it to the nearest beach and bring it home with a ship
Last night our group made our first go at Ashlands, and yea it didnβt go well. We didnβt even get to land, are we doing something wrong? Like we sailed down and couple of birds attacking us, no big deal, but the ship was getting destroyed and we ended up in the water and we melted
Honestly half of good landings in Ashland is due to luck
Also, you should deffo keep spare wood so you can build a workbench on the stone spires and repair your ship periodically until you make land
Sooo.... is there any updated roadmap somewhere out there? It would be nice to see what's the devs are thinking about in the coming years.
No.
Well fuck! :p
They are very open in their developer blogs with what they are currently doing.
@fervent bolt expect a year and half until DN drops
Mistland took a year, Ashland a year and a half
And then expect Deep North to invoke people crying for nerfs immediately after it releases π
Morgen gjall.
I am actually sad for Ashland nerf because it was even more unfair b4
The spawn is almost twice in PTB
I think if the goal was actual war-feeling, having a high spawn rate with most enemies being easily dealt with would have been my personal first iteration π€·ββοΈ
You've killed a dragon, an undead god, and whatever you want to class Queen as at this point.
Cutting through swathes of charred just seems to correctly fit your contextual power level.
Beef up the Morgen by a smidge, and have it so there's like a guaranteed 2 star charred for every x number of normals so that you get a real feel for "foot soldiers are easy, but there are also accomplished vets on the field you will need to approach carefully"
I expect complaints about ashlands boss, when reddit folks will finally reach it. Something about too much aoe
WITH WHAT
oh uranium
Eityrium*
guys quick question, will elder altar sink if i dug everything below it
No
it will float?
Yes
thank you, time to dig
Anyone got any tips on how to cctch angler fish? i got the misty bait and i cant catch anything
its my first time fishing btw
They're more likely to spawn on an open sea side than a "lake" side
I see them in the water
I just cant catch them π
If youβre trying to catch them the legit fishing way of reeling them in and having no luck you might want to try the lazy way instead-
Find a spot with flat-ish ground and a good ramp down into the water, donβt cast beyond 10 metres, and then when you hook one just sprint away from the shore and stop a bunch of times until you manually drag them in lol
Thatβs how I fished through my entire playthroughs and never had a problem
Mistland waters are deep tho
Is there a go-to mod compilation or something to spice up vanilla?
Mistlands have the most shores of any biome lol run around til you find a better spot
ok
huh I found a funny bug
do tell π
Seekers??
mostly cape ends up backwards after you secondary attack using a double handed sword
Btw the Ashlands nerf doesnt seem to affect that much the difficult
but i totally agree
The reduction in spawn rate that isn't needed doesn't affect enemy health?
Yeah, that tracks.
I think i died most times when i was cornered than anything. in open spaces it is easy to deal with hordes
I argued a lot with people complaining about ashlands difficult, saying that is made to be this way (calling me troll many times), but ta-da ashlands nerf then i dont got game purpose cover
just checking, how long should the elder take to kill? I didn't have trouble with him it just seemed take a bit of time to whittle away
idk, like 5 minutes? 10? a bit longer if you go at him only with fire arrows
@molten axle
You can make your own shore.
Take some wood with you and put 26Β° roof pieces at the waters edge, now flip them so you go back up, flip again and keep going till you think you have enough if you reached that point go as deep as you can with 45Β° roof pieces.
Now cast from the edge and drag them closer once they are on the roof stand close and reel in, if you "lost your catch" comes up you can still pick up the fish but with reeling in you will advance fishing and have the chance for extra's if reeling in does work.
You could also take stone with you and heighten terrain and get the same thing going.
okay cool, thanks
What weapon are you using?
if its your first time going for him it could take longer, but its shouldnt be too hard π
was my first time, made good time on it based on what you said. Just wasn't sure if that was normal or not lol
he took less than 5 minutes for me but it felt longerI gues cuz the damage I was doing was in tiny pieces
used a lv4 finebow and 75 fire arrows
This is why it took so long.
great then π i dont really measure bosses in how long they take but more how much pain in da butt they are π
Upgraded Wooden Club in melee should take only like 2 minutes tops to down him.
I see
axe doesnt do more than a club on him?
Even if it did. You pretty much rock clubs/maces only through the first 4 biomes.
Knives!
Haven't had any spoilers for ashlands but the crew and I pulled up yesterday for the first time in ashlands. What an epic experience. Spent 3 hours just fighting trying to get a foothold on a shore line lol
Go knife Bonemass, I'll wait π
you dont have too, but they are probably the most usefull type of weapon in those π
Doable, ti would take pretty long though.
Maybe only for that boss I'd go mace, I'd be rocking knives for the rest though ^^
I am an Axe man.
Saves an entire inventory slot.
thats also true π
just worried about troll raids nowlol
Jotun Bane sucking made Mistlands rough though...
But as I mentioned, I just got the Ashlands Duo Axes and holy mama, I am in love.
My buddy is the same, though in mistlands he switched to mistwalker.
Himmminiminmminim Afl for the win.
mistwalker carries even in ashlands π
I'll be trying that out myself since there are no knives in ashlands.
I'll probably go full mage but I want to test out the zerker axes at one point.
They are the first thing that truly feels like an attack speed build.
Tried skoll and hati?
I rock bow from meadows to ashlands bow is goated
I am a Viking.
We do not deal with puny knives.
β€οΈ
lol i just figured he migh be weak to axes cuz hes a giant tree man
also my thought when first going for him π
This viking didn't until this playthrough and I must say it fits my playstyle better.
Move in do some damage move out, the lunge attack can do so much damage if the mob is staggered or you can surprise them.
Oneshotted a seeker soldier a few days ago.
Lmao i just killed one of those with my fire arrows
Shot them in the ass to make it go quicker I hope?
Took a while, no?
I had high grounds and yea i aim the weakspot which dealt like 100 damage per shot i killed it relatively quick
I had like 82 or 83 bow skill (fking died to fall damage cuz i wanted to save my staminda food and now im back to 78 π
I do like the fact that the fire arrow lights them up and they are easily "visible" in the mist.
Previous playtrough was bow all the way and I had a stack of fire arrows and a stack of needles and switched between them.
Fire arrow to start and light them up, few needles after and a fire again.
Slingshot when? π
Sigh i now have to go back to skill training
Which skill?
Does anyone know if weβll be able to use dvergr spells in the future
Probably not? Given we are not dverger?
Like, we can't use the Greydwarf Shaman spells either.
Which skill?
In mistlands, there are staves to do magic with. There are also element infused weapons (like frostheim) when you get to ashlands...unless that isn't what you are talking about.
Bow skill
Ah, Bonemass will gladly help you level it. π
Off to the plains with crude bow and wood arrows to needle a lox in a hole, then.
I know of the staves, but the dvergr use magic differently than us. For instance thereβs the healing staff that they have, and their fire and ice magics are different too
Ah. Then likely the answer will be "no, not without mods".
NOO!
Ya, wish we had more than just healing meads, especially after the "news" channel art of one medic looking viking patching up another in a group of 3.
saw that post in the meme channel where a guy have a scrooge mcduck amount of 999 gold piles
we should have the ability to melt down 999 gold into a gold ingot to let us build stuff coated in gold for zero taste maxxing gameplay
Gold Flake Black Soup sounds posh.
Hey kikijiki, been a while.
How are your mirrors doing?
why does Haldor/Hildir need money to begin with
still operating in a parallel dimension
are they like God of War's Dwarves where they can hop between dimensions effortlessly lol
Wouldnβt doubt it
Why do trolls have money?
They don't. They have gold. It's shiny like the rubies and amber they also hoard. It's only us that attributes any other value to it.
trolls are anti fiat currency.
They wanna break the bank?
I'm not aware of lore surrounding their stance on central banking per se, but sound economic practices were learned managing a variety of structures which permitted the passing of geological impasses.
Though Valheim trolls do stuff their mattresses with items of potential value, so maybe untrusting of fractional reserve lending?
Debating Storm Fang vs. Root Fang. Hmmmmm...
Which one are you leaning to and why?
I went with Root because ranged weapon having change to keep enemy at range just makes sense.
Used my Iolite to build and upgrade Thundering Axes.
Ask armor + Ashen cape + Axes is just...
-30% Attack Cost with that level of Attack Speed has me ripping through enemies like nobody's business.
Further I get into Ashlands the more I don't understand the problem people have with it.
It's the same as every other biome. Initial impact sucks dick, but once you get biome-level gear you are at parity with everything you're fighting and really have to care only about starred enemies.
a troll raid attacked my swamp base. But they werent prepared for the leeches poisoning them or the draugrs slaughtering them. All I had to d was run around collecting the loot lol
Nice!
I find it almost unbearably absurd that battering ram doesn't damage trees or enemies. I think zero logic is used making decisions sometimes
someone to mine some flametals?
Just like the characters being able to have 3000 kg of metals inside their pockets and still move around
I personally can have up to 5000 kg, and they cut that limit almost in half for balance purposes? It's so silly
Games not being 100% realistic? what is this world coming to ?!?π
There's good reasons for that though. Explain to me why trees are invincible to a huge bashing machine that breaks hardest materials. Enemies I can come to grips with as it would make things too much easier. Invincible trees crazybananapants
I always forget how hard it is to chop trees down in this game...
i always judge survival games by their tree chopping
We've chopped assloads of trees in a play so far. Bashing them would be a fun change
You think this game is about FUN?!? ππππ
Same reason the pickaxe doesn't work on trees. It's not the designated tool for the job and doesn't do the damage type needed to fell a tree even if it isn't the designated tool.
Damn good reason thanks.
I have loads of fun. You doing it wrong
Ie: log troll doesn't have a axe but can do the needed type of damage (chop).
Your previous statements about unbearable absurdity beg to differ.
Just made the troll staff for the first time and boy am I happy I didnβt use it inside my base
Compartmentalized
i would imagine the main reason the battering ram doesn't work all over is it would take about 30 seconds to level the entire map. so it kind of sounds like they did think about it
Yes, very much like people making the obliterator inside their base and trying to use it...not a good idea.
Yagluth vs. Battering Ram too ez.
Because having the battering ram be a mining drill and an automatic wood saw would be too op as well.
Isn't the whole purpose that you are meant to be the one who collects resources? If they were to add a machine that does the work for you, then they might as well not add more tools at all.
They should not add a new pickaxe and remove or nerf berserkir axes as well and not add a new axe in DN because, what for? Battering ram would do the job just as well or even better.
based on the damage it does to walls i would think no new weapons either haha
They could really not add a new pickaxe because battering ram does the same job
they'd rename it to batteringheim
We have 50 different armors. A variety of ways to do things isn't a bad thing
Progression
Variety technically gets deprecated as you can upgrade things only so far. (Which I personally dislike)
Having the most efficient way of mining with the battering ram should be enough progression
You can destroy giant rocks in like two minutes
It's great. My mind just refused to believe that it wouldn't break trees. But as somebody said a blunt weapon wouldn't be ideal for a tree, it's true. Probly wouldn't actually work on a big tree irl even. So I recend my statement. I have been proven wrong. And I am big enough to admit it. ( oh God it hurts) lol.

Respectfully bro glasses ain't bad, I've had them for 15 years and the only thing that's annoying is finding a comfortable pair of headphones with them, and I guess keeping them clean but that's whatever. Would definitely recommend them if you can't make out what an emote is lol
Contacts > glasses
For me I think my glasses make me look better and I'm just irrationally afraid of contacts
Fair, finger near your eye can be spooky
I've got a mod on that let's me portal pets. Portaled into ashlands with one of my several 2star asksvin I bred. Apparently forgot to set to follow so after fighting the stuff around the portal that sob ran off. Hiding in middle of lave field with no hope for recovering him. Poor ol Ugly
I've considered Lasik too but as I said, my glasses kinda cover the bags under my eyes so they make me look more professional imo lol
Eye Transplant >>
When we getting those Kiroshi optics from Cyberpunk
Used to wear. Makes your eyes worse without glassez so just cut my losses. Plus I fell asleep in them constantly and broke em.
I've bee nwearing glasses since I was 6 and I've been wearing glasses for +34 years now and have found a nice gaming headset that i can wear for hours upon hours and fit nicely over my glasses.
I can't wear contacts because the shape of my eyes.
Lasik might be a solution but haven't really checked with the eye doctor about it.
As soon as online people stop having underscores in their names π
I still remember when I was a kid one night I opened my eyes and the wall was just kinda blurry and I freaked out and ran upstairs to tell my Mom I think I need glasses lmao
I still remember being 23 and learning I had absolute zero depth perception and then trying to figure out what that meant because I thought everyone sees the world the way I do, but apparently there's this whole other dimension you all are aware of π
Working in retail I deal with people everyday that still aren't aware of this other dimension we now reside in
And people that drive around here too
skibidi toilet
Rizz gyatt
I feel like there's a few pieces missing from aslands build set. No backing filler piece for the small arch and roofs are wierd can't figure out how to do an outer corner. Also theres other piece/s that I can't remember that seemed like they'd be needed
Nice looking pillars though.
what method were you using with older pieces to get the corner look you want?
parrying ghosts like
Both thatch and the shingles type have corner pieces inside and out of both 45 and 26 degrees. Figured out inside corners with grausen but not outside
And can't figure how the small arch is to be used without a backer piece cept mabey as fence decoration
Gonna check and see if folks posted some example builds in ss
My Host world have 6 players , how many mages, ranges , warriors are good?
It barely matters
I mean go to ashland
Yesterday 4 guys went to MIsland, only me survive.
Bomber kill 3 of us.
Already did, already almost finished it, only boss is left.
And I play alone
Without fire resistance and aoe, yes
You are good player, but I do not think they are
You can go two of each, or three range and three mages, or all mages
I'm not
Or three warriors and three mages.
If at least one of those mages had an ember staff, you can break almost everything in the game
One or two more and it's insta win
I am the Great Mage have 4 stuffs of Mistland
one guy is a tank(warrior), one guy is paladin(play everything), one guy is a archer, and one guy is second Mage.
There are no classes in Valheim.
Technically you make your own classed based on your playstyle
But fancy ones like Paladin aren't really achievable since you would need odin's blessing or some such silly thing to make it fit that description
But rouge, Hunter, mage, barbarian, etc make sense
I like one person to use all weapons and cover all damage types, but I don't know a word to describe this class.
rouge doesn't quite make sense -- you're not trying to powder their cheeks. I could see a rogue class however
gestalt?
Or fullstack player
OK so its not just me. They seemingly just left out very important pieces like outside corner roofs. Yall think they just still getting worked on?
Close, Just one guy can do everything in the game.
YOu can be any class or any job you like to be, no restrict.
anyone know the fastest way to kill a lox?
polearm
I believe it was mentioned there's not necessarily going to be the same version of pieces in every tier -- not every house needs a hipped roof, you can add in some gables for variety
Or am I just waiting on modders to add those necessary pieces like several others in the game
Game not finished either.
Jesus. Some of yallll defend anything. I shouldn't have to be an engineer the figure out how to build with these sets. If it's just not done yet that's fine but that would be rediculous to just not have outside corners.
yes, I know. Valheim has no built in classes -- I assumed you were just making up your own arbitrary class restrictions and were looking for an appropriate name. That is one I've seen for the same thing looong ago for some silly overpowered prestige D&D classes
We play this beta version game for over 3 years .
No, we haven't had a beta since 2021.
I'm not defending anything, I'm just relaying information. You asked the question, I simply answered it. no need to get upset
Gaps of everything have always been there, this isn't unexpected
also some pieces were added after the fact, maybe they'll add some of the pieces that seem to be missing in a later update
I saw the world tree on the sky, so the tree will be the last map?
I would like to climb it and talk to Odin
I apologize if you aren't one of those. But you know the ones I mean. There's still missing pieces from previous sets that I can't recall that I've added via mods so I expect they just want us players to fix their holes in the road
There's only one map.
I just think there is the last biome on the tree.
and the final Boss should be a Titan.
If mods solve the problem, why being upset then? Isn't it a good thing that mods flourish because of this?
Also those extra pieces means more extra work for them and they have an entire game to work on as well...
A mod author just needs to work on those three new pieces and forget about the rest. That one author is only working on that mod alone, devs are working on everything that mod needs to work in the first place
As much as I love mods, this is one aspect I hate about them: That elitism of "devs bad, authors better" it ALWAYS creates.
It's unfair in most cases to the devs, imagine spending months to create something for people to enjoy just for those people to go "your work sucks lol mods made it better"
Speak of the devil and he shall appear. Shouldn't have to have modders fix clearly missing things. Do your own work
For them it doesn't need fixing because it's not broken π€·
I can understand actual bugs and glitches, but content depends on whatever they want for the game, if it's not what they want why would they spend time and resources into developing it?
As I said, gaps have always been there, this is not unexpected
Should developers work on features they dislike just because people asked for them? And then fill their own game with stuff they're not convinced about just to try pleasing the masses?
That seems detrimental
The final biome is Deep North.
when i first started playing we only had the 45 degree building pieces if i remember right? they've added a lot. some stuff gets noticed and filled. even some of the building holes that were there before have been fixed a bit
That is sad
Considering how tricky those are, probably a lot.
And they still feel glitchy
I think there are 9 Boss match to 9 Titan in Norse story.
So it's not just "add a corner piece, it should take you five minutes max"
also if it's that easy to do, why not make your own game and call it radheim
Irrelevant.
Being a game developer must feel like an ungrateful job half of the time
You'd be wrong. Valheim has its own lore
Only half?
Yeah I think I was optimistic lol
Gaps have always been there is a problem. Shouldn't need to problem solve to work around Clearly missing peices. I've messed around for far to long trying to cover up or work around holes in my builds that should not be there. A square corner is nessary in every build I've made so I just don't get to use grayusten without waiting for a modder to fix and updat
Especially if the game has an active modding community
And updates often break mods
I still don't understand why complaining about it if there's a mod for that.
There are things I dislike about some stats, I used a mod to tweak them, and now I enjoy it even more.
But I'm not crying and making a tantrum every five minutes about them, I fixed it myself, end of story. If they don't want to do it then cool, it's not needed on my end.
Pick 20 buildings at random in the world 18 probably have outside corners. There currently aren't any mods I've found that do fix the ashlands "gaps" if you know of one please suggest as I'd be happy to quit bitching about flaws in the product. I've got 3000 hrs in so it's not coming from a place of hate
There are outside corner pieces?
They do listen. I mean, I can build Dverger doors. Now I just have to figure out how to properly frame them. π I was one of the many who complained about not having those to build right after Mistlands was released, and I was thrilled when I finally saw it show up on my build list this play through. They were right, though. The build lists are getting more troublesome to read. Like I am getting to hate having to look through the recipes on the Cauldron.
the only thing that fits is black marble (so far)
Not in grausten
ohhh so it's the little gap where 2 walls fit together on the outside?
I'm hoping it's just oversight.
i have no idea but i do get the feeling it's easier to build with pillars than overhanging things with those pieces. variety and all that
If you have a square house. The flat slopes of the roof need to come together at the corner. I don't even know how to build without that
Would love any suggestions or ss of people doing it without them, I just can't finger out how to make it look clean
dunno if i can link that here but this one seems alright
i don't really like where hte pilllars poke through, but the rest looks good at first glance
Its not on theiir Known Issues list, so people need to keep suggesting it is needed/wanted.
You don't need to have corners radbrad
Ah I see. Slope on two sides only. Didn't think of that. Not a very good building mind unfortunately. π thanks for the suggestion
it should have it, but it's not needed. There is an overhang piece and you could technically just overhang the row on each side
I agree it's limiting tho
I see..I see. Have seen that style build just never used it so didn't occur to me
yeah with creative stuff sometimes it helps to look at other people's work or even just take a step back if you come to a block. no big deal
yeah just imagine a rectangle building and the rows of tiles spanning the length of it. Just put an overhang tile on each end and build up to the peak of the roof
So your roof is 1 tile longer than the walls on each end
Or, you could stop it at the end, but I like having a tile of overhang personally
Does anyone have a breakdown of how many iolite/jade/bloodstone you need to upgrade everything?
Yep. I gotcha now. Now gonna try to figure out how to use the small arches. My thought was window but can't fill in the wall around it
Thanks yall
terraforming done π€
i feel like its easier designing everything when u have a half a layout
like into what build
I'm seeing the same issues skeletts have for tames when they're surrounded by walls...
That AI is broken
Would anyone care to show me how to properly build roofs in game can give join code and password if anyoneβs feeling generous to help kinda stumped atm
There are a ton of examples in the screenshot section: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202310893757530142
Try looking there and searching "roof" when in that area might help.
@ornate sigil Iv seen them and me trying replicate or close to seems to be failing atm canβt get it to look proper or even be structured properly
Do you have snapping on, have you adjusted the snap points?
Ah, well I am off work in about 5-6 hours. You are welcome to DM me if you want me to join your game and walk you though how I do roofs (very basic stuff/nothing fancy like in some of those screenshots).
Snappingβs not really the issue itβs more so layout and integrity Iβm still fairly new to the game probably 10 hours or so in
Sounds good I appreciate it
Oh OK, once you feel it out it will be 2nd nature. I'm sure you will find the way
Ha. Why have I not seen mentioned anywhere that the shield generator..has a ..I dunno what to call it besides selfdestruct sequence. Unsure if it actually destroyed it as I got player structure damage turned off. But I sure as hell fried my ass just now by saying..wonder what this activate button does. Was hilarious discovery though it cost me some skill
Shield generator shouldn't self destruct, but the obliterator kinda does with the AOE of electricity it does when activated.
Definatly was shield generatir
Odd. It shouldn't AFAIK.
Does anyone else think the Ashlands spawn rate is just way too high? I cant walk for more than 30 seconds without being attacked by a party of skeletons, or a morgen/valk spawning just behind or near me
It should just "run out" once all it's fuel is consumed by being hit with attacks.
I see people talking on reddit and steam forums that they're saying the PTR spawn change is too much, but jesus i feel like anything is better than this
There are patch notes in the PTB channel about nerfing spawn rates...so just hold out and you might some relief.
If you look up some from where you put in bones it says armed and ready with activate button
As you say, it's been discussed ad infinitum.
Have you tried the PTR? I havent myself and wonder if what people are saying is true though about them tuning it down too much
If you push it. Run like hell
Most people will agree it's gone too far.
I did before ashlands went live, so that patch was before my time.
Or after?
After.
IMO they could just space out the spawns a bit.. as in have packs spawn a bit further apart
in an endless loop of spamming campfires around my FOB and then they get destroyed and i cant walk anywhere without being outnumbered 5 or 8 to 1
The spawns are the same as in every biome.
theres no way this is true
That sounds like a bug. I'll have to see once I get home....in like 4 hours.
Though just a common player, I like testing things.
Mobs spawn based on the zone the player is in. Mobs try and spawn every 4 seconds. This is universal. What they seem to have gotten wrong is the spawn chance and the cooldown between spawns.
Def not a bug. Starts flashing or something like before the energy burst. I knew I fucked up when I pushed it. Should've run. Was a delay long enough to get out of the zone
Panicked
Other folks not noticed this?
Yeah it does seem that way. I just wanted to see if I was crazy for thinking the rates were too much π
Killed me in full gear too. Obliterator is weak sauce
As you say, Reddit is full of people whining about it. To the extent it's been nerfed in the latest patch.
It's pretty hairy for sure.
Why nobody is saying yeah my shield generator murdered me too? Surely some of yall noticed? Derek?
I do know there was a bug that made them deconstruct seemingly at random, but acting like an obliterator is news to me...now I really wish I was home to test this.
I wish you luck. Dm me when you find out. I really perplexed that yall ain't seen this.
Sorry, haven't used it.
Oh ok thx. Mabey lots of us dont. Thatd explain it
Live version or ptb version?
Live
Can you explain step by step of what happened so that I can try and recreate it?
Yeah, if your ptb you get to post such things in that channel.
Na it's live. Just walk up to generator as if putting in bones, and look up on the antenna around a meter above that
See prompt. Push button. Run. Tell me I'm not crazy
I think its pretty safe to say we are all a little bit crazy. Its the degree of crazy that matters.
I'm not seeing it. I'll post a clip of what I see in #memes-and-clips and maybe you could help direct me to where you saw it?
I'm posting a ss in that channel too
k
I don't think its from a mod as nothings directly aslannds related
Ye nah, I smell mods
Hm, the Obliterator and the Eitr refinery cause damage to players so it's not the first time it's happened if it IS intentional.
So it's not there huh? Guess sneaky mod author. Thanks. Would explains why yall ain't seen it
using battering rams aint easy π π π
Yea I don't see it on vanilla. Def some weird mod interaction going on.
Hmm. Thanks for helping
Alright, the amount of bugs and lag i experience playing this game is at its limits
Died and loot disappeared in the mistlands, gravestone is gone.
I guess i'll play again in a couple of years
feels right
so fun in the drakar ship, can't see anything
boat occupies 50% of my vision xD
spawn rate changes haven't hit stable yet, right?
thank you
Are the spawn rates in the ashlands broken? There are non-stop spawns of charred enemies and morgen, even with all the spawners destroyed and caves emptied. This makes the game very un-fun.
New test patch reduces them
Thanks for letting me know! Is there any way I can find out more about this test patch and how long it will take for it to be implented? The skill drain + spawn rates makes it quite unplayable.
No one knows, but it's been on test for several days now
#public-test-patchnotes #valheim-public-test still I hope it will go live before friday (I can play with friend only on friday and saturday)
if you only see no access you should head over to id:customize
Cheers, many thanks. I hope it's effective. If you do try it out, could you share your experience with it? I do not want to get my hopes up as this is quite disappointing.
Thank you! It is still no visible, but i think discord will take a bit of time.
you give yourself the roles in id:customize and gaian access to the test channel and infor on how to join the test branch version
Aha, thanks π
With the team on vacation it seems unlikely.
Oh, good to know.
Chief complaint after change. Man the Ashland is so empty
I feel like I reach a point around mistlands where my enjoyment of the game starts to stagnate
are quality 5 fish rare
Like Ive got building my new base as my current task and it feels like it literally takes dozens of hours to gather enough stone and black marble to make any progress on building it
very
Heh, I'm kinda on the same thing.
is it worth keeping, or js crafting into fish
The eitr grind is an important factor on why
Mistlands gear needs so much and it's not like those skulls are abundant
And this world is at x2 resource rate
ive pulled in easily 1000 angler fish through my various plays. caught 1 lvl 5
oh crap sorry im late
LMFAO ur good
Are there still any working no rod fish farms?
Someone recently mentioned using roof pieces for that reason.
sometimes it clips inside a tree or smth, you can check around the area
Yes it is too high, cant wait for the damn reduction of spawnrate.
Its just so stupid right now. Throwing away all this loot, seeing the landsacpe full of shiny star.
I wish they had more health. more damage, more speed, and were on fire so you cant melee all the time.
Right now all we have are worthless soldiers being more annoying than greydwarfs.
Gredwarfs early game were more of a problem than them, they are just annoying.
I am glad IronGate is waking up to the logic difference between HARD and ANNOYING.
It's fine tbh π€·ββοΈ
But it is getting nerfed. So can just wait it out if you dislike the current iteration.
And now the biome is boring...
Yes, "victory"...
The war and conflict themed biome is... Peaceful and quiet
I hope the nerfs are tweaked before going live
sorry I'm a bit late, but generally in order to build taller structures you have to advance a bit further through the game to unlock some critical tools for decent elevation
I think you can achieve the a war themed biome and have it be plenty dangerous without overwhelming the player with copious spawns
To build the highest structure you need IRON. and the IRON poles are the best ones to build structures
Yeah exactly, many just think, non stock trashy enemies is warlike
You can get taller with IRON GATES⦠
Its just bad in the current state, all it does is overflowing players with ressources
Like the other day i hade 4 valkiries in a row right after 1 died and at some point 2 on me with a morgen
its very easiliy manageable even with their speed ( i am also playing full wizard)
so its just an annoyance
Their attack are REALLY easy to avoid.
They barelly do any damage on the shields
I think having a group of 20 skeletons just roaming together and risking to encounter them is a better scare thingy
Every other biome is "few enemies that take a bit to kill"
More enemies was something new, and it is fresh and fun imo.
Dropped spawn rate to make Ashlands just like every other biome but visually different is boring as fuck. π€·ββοΈ
No way, we have Dark forest where 10 greydwarfs can easily chase you, then there is the plains ( or even mountains ) where a big amount of enemies came to you, and wolves are hard to kill to on the mountains
This is just a re itteration of something they already had, nothing new at all
The ONLY fresh thing I feel in ashland is the valkyrie as a new enemy
As a person who is literally deforesting a BF island atm, never been accosted by more than 5 at a time.
even the morgen is a joke as it is easier to kill than when i encountered a root for the first time
Wolves are packs of 3-4 unless you get Hunted.
daytime ?
Nightime you got some more
Plains they are restricted to their villages.
YEah i have raid set to max and got hunted a lot.
That was hard and fun, this ashland is trash compared to that
Ashlands is/was new.
I would have "hunted" in plains, mountains etc
Scarier than "THGE DEAD ARE MARCHING"
That thing does not scare me
You modified your baseline experience to be something else and are now complaining about the baseline experience?
Yeah... this is where I stop caring about your feedback π€·ββοΈ
No I am using it as a compairaison.
Between what is easy and dull which is annoying
and something that is actually challenging
I compared them both wit htheir respective Biome ( prev biome) gear
When you missunderstand and then make a decision on it. It is called somethimng
So this will boil down to what it always does:
Person A dislikes something Person B likes. Neither will be convinced either way.
Points have been made by both sides. Continuance becomes circular.
Moving on...
You disliked what I like and tried to diminish it.
I explained to you the differences as to why i believed so.
You missunderstood my point. Then proceed to insult by not finding opinion worthy.
You are not having a discussion, so it is better to move on indeed.
Wow...
Indeed
Not what happened. But believe what you want to I guess. π€·ββοΈ
Packs of mobs are fine in AL imo. It's the constant stream of them that is too much
Ahslaned.
MY archer skeleton stuns an asksvin with 1 bow.
Hard enemies there π
You mean like what you depicted and it not what happened so I corrected you with what happened so you say that it didnt happen ?
ok
As a reFerence point, this is what we were talking about in case you lost the point in your "arguments"
#valheim-chat message
X for doubt
You mean, X for ignorance π
Nah it's def possible
You are overestimating their wishes for doing something in more dynamic ways
β¨
I would be very surprised if they managed to tweak them in a better way than just another number change
Which is why I don't expect such changes
I would not be surprised that they are able to tweak it in a better fashion on their SECOND try after having actual player feedback.\
Usually it is how it works. The first is almsot never the best
Why not? Developers control everything. The only thing thatβs in the way could be possible technical limitations, but everything else is in their control. Even if something goes against the intended design, things can be changed
Why you should always expect better changes
If the devs had done literally anything else, You would still havre people saying
"this is the way" as if devs know the best way and dont have any issues ever
You can most certainly create a challenging biome that is not annoying. This isnβt some new concept to gaming
It is humbling to understand what we like sometimes is bad
It was also in their control to make mistlands "easier" without those significant nerfs and look where we are... Almost a year later
Yeah 100%
This is a KEY part that many devs are just very poorly educated on it if not at all.
Most dont even understand the conceptual differences
And the biome isnβt annoying per se. I like it a lot. I think itβs very well done. The spawns are just slightly too much
You're forgetting a fundamental:
"Better" is subjective.
Mistland is trash no matter how you look at it. But enemies are better than ashland tbh
For you π€·
Not when we objectively look at something.
I loved everything about the mistlands tbh⦠lol
That's... lmfao. Not how this works.
I'm out. Ignorant brick wall. I have better things to do with my time.
For example, Me poking you in your arm 10000 times is annoying right ?
But then I could tell you, " no, its just hard to dodge my figner"
No, objectivelly being poked in the arm that many times is annoying, even painful
Me too.
They could've added a post-mistlands structure to remove mist in a larger radius, do we have it? No
Yes it is exactly how things work. T|
Things re subhjective when the source of it is not objective.
All you need to do is chose an objective point.
We understand psychology enough to make thosse differences
Everything is not only Subjective
Do not ping me again, please.
They shouldn't have made the biome weaker.
They should've made the equipment better
What do you mean ?

Stop.
Or fix the stamina system that tyhe majority dislike
You know, a constant theme of this discord every time there is a significant point of disagreement about the execution of the game is people talking AT each other, rather than TO each other, and jfc it is wearisome.
Equipment is already giga strong...
No need to make everyone weaker or stronger.
Just a better system that makes more sense
glances at ask set, the entirety of mage, axes, and enchantments
OP. I am clearing ashalnd as a mage, its such a cakewalk its absurd
Everything about the Ashlands is extremely well done, except for spawn rates. Iβve got no complaints about any other part of it
Its so ridiculously absurd how easy it is that I am not excited to continue
I even took dowjn a fort and got some flamemetal, then and only after I discovered we have RAMS
why does flax gets its weight x10 when made into linen thread
LOGIC
More dense maybe
But flax to linen is 1:1
I think 1 flax , makes 1
Ah, there it is
The "majority of players agree with what I specifically think and say" "argument".
This one never stops being amusing
People dislike the stamina system
Maybe they need a spawn frequency slider
The upgrades could improve the special effects...
Because it contrasts with what the devs ignorantly thought was good but then realize they had to change it because it is better ?
The majority is a a point of proving YOU wrong, not me right btw
how is it bad?
It is not an argument as much as it is a counter to a bad argument
Saying stamina is perfect, its just so wrong, and easy to counter.
I could get behind that, I dislike the rng factor of the enchantments, but def not buff them even more lol
True, they should add drinks/potions, a buff that increases the regen, and maybe another potion type that increases it as well...
I hope they increase the basalt timer and tone down the fireball knockbacks also
Vast majority of the time, when I see people complain about the stamina system, it's because they don't understand it or don't bother to use it to its fullest
No its just bad.
What's wrong with it ? I think it works quite well personally
Nonsense, you shouldn't be punished for spam clicking weapon swings!
