I have failed you Anakin, I have failed you.
I should have know the Wallers were plotting to take over.
Anakin, digging trenches is evil!
From my point of view, the earth walls are evil!
WELL THEN YOU ARE LOST!
(I'll stop now)
if trolls ever learn to use their arms to hop over walls we're all doomed
i do both
most castles had moats of some kind
helps buff up the wall, and provides a nice little trough for enemies to die in so their loot doesnt go too far
are asksvins more considerate of your buildings than lox? i dunno why they remind me of hairless lox
i didnt realize the forcedelete mist took out my mist torches as well, actually helped clean them up since i left a ton around trying to see through the mist
but i am gonna console back in my 50 yggdrasil wood cuz that shit expensive
@nocturne wolf I think you were right about mist vs. mistarea and it deleting everything mist-related.
Inb4 it actually is the same model, just fur removed and painted green. ๐
i guess that might be why? so i guess probably not lol
Does hildir give anything useful?
Define "useful"
The clothing is semi useful for planting crops if you don't need to worry about getting attacked
All of her stuff is cosmetic.
People find that category varying degrees of useful.
Oh really
do they have special effects?
So it's just fun side quests then
Tool use stamina reduction
Yes. Personally waiting for them to add Mistlands and Ashlands updates to her store.
interesting
god I love this game but there are these perfect moments of everything going wrong at once that make me feel like an evil AI is tormenting me
clearing out a fuling village, accidentally aggro a bunch of fulings, then it starts to rain and a few mosquitos spawn and the dark forest i'm right next to spawns a troll
what can a viking possibly do but curse the gods
also my food buffs were starting to fade lmao
arent you like
in valheim to redeem yourself in a way, thats what i understand of the lore anyway
you might be, it's never really explained
its like the gulag from cod warzone
odin is also kind of a dick so he might have just chosen you at random, denying you paradise to do him a solid
true
more often than not that kind of moment is tied to the stamina system for me
stamina is what kills you yes
not being able to climb out of water and being clubbed to death by something in the water (like a fuling)
the game basically revolves around coddling your stamina bar
must say that it can really just be not fun
like not hard and challenging in a fun way but is just frustrating and unfun to deal with
it depends, valheim's gameplay is very unique. i think some aspects of it CAN be tedious but changing too much of it would ruin a lot of the challenge of the game
So it's a personal awareness thing?
in the case of my food absolutely lol i should have paid better attention
but it sneaks up on me
There is no evil AI then.
Just your attention to details. ๐
Tasty Mead.
Infinite stamina.
is there any way to make the black stone looking ground in mistlands into something you can cultivate
No. You have to find the grass patches and cultivate those.
aw boo
That's why I just make a mushroom garden outpost and go back to the Plains.
yeah but the mistland spires look cool
I see through the lies of the skybasers.
๐๐
Given our talk earlier, would have pegged you for more of a Mountain base person ๐๐๐
if there was a way to actually tunnel i would be all about that lol
Mountain can be annoying because of drakes constantly flying into your base but they are gorgeous
There's a sweet spot where the elevation is too low for them to spawn
Mountain base with a hot tub on the porch is the most Canadian build you can do tbh.
Log cabin made of core wood ๐
I wish Ancient Bark was a building material ๐ญ
Dark wood with feint glowing green highlights.
do player structures stop spawning in a column or a spherical radius
Can never have too much blackmetal.
Sphere afaik.
ah so gjall can spawn directly above a player structure if they are high enough
HEY GJALL
yes, to avoid that specifically lol
Funnily enough, if you force spawns, Drakes beat Gjall flatout.
i realize making a base in the mistlands will expose me to that, so im thinking of how to at least ensure they spawn on the other side of my defenses
chased by seekers while in water is a death sentence
chased by anything while in water is often a death sentence
I've seen drakes take out stone golems with enough time
That's why you level your swim skill ๐
ESPECIALLY CHARRED
Uuuuuughhhh leveling swim is UNBEARABLE
i guess the nice thing about the stone spires is they are tall, so i dont think gjall can spawn above them
leveling anything kinda is to me
Paddling around in a puddle for hours
i just dont bother grinding
Mine is at 76 currently. Previously was at 83.
cool some of you that does that
Skill drain?
i myself just wont
How else do skills go down? lol
New character I suppose
I start a new everything every major update.
I've just had the two since release, one for survival and one for creative builds
i am good enough at dying that my weapon skill never hits 100 but also good enough that it never dips below 80, i just want to see it hit 100 once!!! ๐ญ
Though I wound up remaking my survival character recently so I am going through everything again
Which weapon?
spear
Flint Spear -> Summon Bonemass.
Farm stats.
i don't farm any stat, i let them level natuarly instead ๐
Bring Iron Mace or higher to one-shot the adds that spawn, then switch back to Spear and farm stats.
oof, what a way to die... I cut down a beech tree. It knocked down another as i went to cut it into logs. the second one fell on my head and killed me instantly. -_-
Lol yep
That'll happen. There's even a runestone describing that fate befalling another poor viking in-game.
thatsa pretty cool game
i keep comming back to it
I improved my bonemass bow skill trainer haha, you just need to trap bonemass using the raise ground with the hoe, and then build a station right above the bonemass and then spam your bow
The bonemass will never die and because his hit box is so large every arrow can hit
cleansing a draugr village is quite the ordeal lol
The crude bow with the least draw stamina also make this better
only found a draugr village after getting to mountains having a mostly upgraded root set with silver weapons and shield
turned it into a sausage farm
Never understood whats the point of those village
Giving Meadows a little extra thing when you find them again far enough from spawn
lore?
easier sausage farming
easier draugr elite spawns?
Yea Draugr elite aren't a bad thing to find, getting their trophy for the Sledgehammer is difficult enough
Ig if you want iron sledge its the only reason, sausages you can easily make tons of them, with even just normal swamp spawns, and also mountains frost cave having like a lot of meat piles
yea and with half a dozen spawns yould find a trophy or two easier
i also found hilder right outside a draugr village
Me too !
Yeah the sausage recipe is so generous, you usually get way more than you need
Morgen gjall!
Yep
I think the village is really cool, but I dont have iron stuff yet and cleaning them out was quite the struggle lol
now im rebuilding it as a novelty
the mead hall in the center is really cool
Tier 4 tetra acquired
SCORE
High tier bow skill is so satisifying
high level bow is pretty much a pistol like its day and night
lol managed to sneak attack a Bonemaw with a spear xD
but your spear is gone
nope, was not a spear throw
it was stuck beheind 5 spikey rocks close to eachother trying to get back to the ocean, i could sneak up and hit the tail xD
See, Bonemaws are the only "ok these spawn too much" thing I can point to in the Ashlands.
I have to bring 200 arrows just to make it to shore.
Once I am on shore I am fine.
Ever tried ||crossbows|| ?
I prefer the actual bows tbh.
I personally never had too much of an issue but I reckon they're a lot easier to handle in MP (what I play) than SP
I got 5 on the way in the first time I visited.
you can save some arrows by being good at spotting them and get sneak attacks in on them before they spot you
i got 13 on my way out once ๐
Good rng in terms of food ๐
had to place a portal on a spike rock and go home to get more arrows to complete the trip
Yea and they suck
just sucks their meat can't be cooked into something not as heavy
Ashlands has a bow-bow, right?
Idk what's high level cross bow looks like but low level cross bow is like 5 second reload, and then you run? You reload again, you jump? You reload again
4 sec level 0, 2 sec level 100
It's so annoying and also I feel like it's way harder to calculate the arrow falling like idk what they call it
The trajectory
It barely has any
Btw do you think I should try and build my way into Ashlands with iron wood beam lmao
I once played in a world where we had unlimited build cost and some one did it
Let's see how difficult it is with just 1.5x resource
Holdup. There is no reload speed increase mentioned in crossbow skill tooltip. Does it really increase?
yes, it is on wiki and you can check in game with commands to see the difference ๐ (tho i am not sure why it wouldnt be said in skill description ๐ค )
Because it's missing in-game
ayyyy just found the plains for the first time
Best biome.
the skeetos are very friendly
not sticking around lol. saw some lox tho
looking for warriors to slay a mighty dragon. 1000 gold reward upon completion of the quest.
#mods-discussion would be the place to ask.
met a fuling for the first time... it killed me in one hit lmfao
That was a decisive blow.
Now don't you become indecisive and never venture into the plains.
Eventually the power decisively changes in your favor and you'll land those decisive blows.
now you gotta find their village and wipe out every last one
mountain is after swamp?
makes sense why it brutalized me then. Still dont have iron stuff
Personally I skip Iron Armor.
Just build the Buckler, the Mace, and the Pick.
Troll or Bronze armor is more than enough to get you to Mountain.
Then you build Wolf Armor.
I go for root and then I go for fenris or eitr weave.
Root is good, yeah.
Also did you see kitchen update?
Yeah, lightning done and smoke tested.
I think the only reason I was able to make a basement this deep is because it used to be a Tar pit ๐
Yeah they have a lower starting point than the rest of the ground around it ^^
It's 8m down!
So I definitely squeaked in an extra meter.
I just realised this if you do login and logout to reset effects, you can technically swim to Ashlands
Will take long and some quick log out action when you get into the boiling water but it would be doable yeah.
hears bonemaws and voltures in the distance
Yes, I'm sure that will be a great idea
Doesnโt the game remember how much stamina you have now when you quit?
So youโd drownโฆ
Swimming don't make that much noise
Stamina used to reset on logout idk if it still does. I used to cross rivers that way before I had a raft
You can just login to another world to restore your stamina lol
Ah thereโs the tech
you can maybe walk to the Ashlands with a cart
You be still touching the water I think
At that point just enable console and fly there.
Raft to the Ashlands
I want to see that!
It destroy in negative 0.1 seconds
Is it only on normal difficulty or Morgen Caves are a bit of a joke? You just enter, loot everything and maybe on the way back Morgen finally spawns. And you can just leave the cave and forget about him. Already collected 40 cores like this
Mighty raft is indestructible!
Playing on hardcore settings. They are indeed a joke. Hardest part is finding enough of them.
No no, Ashlands is so horrible it must be nerfed into the ground.
Just ask everyone on reddit. ๐
Soon, brotha, soon
Tbf the spawn rates and all were a bit much but I was handling it ok, but there was one thing that should've been changed and it was not
Lava biome and I can't make Legend of Zelda hoverboots???
That was the visibility in the biome, I can legit see nothing at night
They can still spawn nearby and once they see you (and they will almost certainly see you)...
Mistlands 2.0 ๐
๐ญI hated mistland for the same reason
Visibility is the sole reason I won't be making an Ashlands base.
Legit always gives me a heart attack with mobs coming from nowhere
I turn my brightness on my computer to max and barely able to see shit, only when it has lightning can I see at night and that's like for a slight moment
I don't know if it still works
You just need the right spot on the open area near lava. Ashlands so beautiful at night
Yeah, inside a fortress, or not near lava, pitch black. Near lava thoughโฆ perfect.
Why would you even explore it at night? Literally the only thing that should be worth getting is a 2-star asksvin, but once you get it, what else? Exploring any biome at night is not a good idea just because
I like myself a night time stroll in the mistlands or nay other biome though, I've never shied away from the night.
I agree it can really take ages for the Morgen inside to manifest themselves
some people enjoy pain
To be honest, it is quite overwhelming with the amount of mobs, even during daytime. Its hard to get a foothold and a portal set up, finding resources and corpse runs. Example, took me 5 boats to get a portal up. Also the constant gliding on ore veins. I welcome to changes (:
Oh god the gliding on ore veins is the worst
Because it really is the one thing you kinda cannot play around
Yeah, "played" ashlands for about 5 days. Body is in the middle of a giant lava pool, due to gliding issues. Not gonna attempt playing again until a patch is out. Not a great experience going to Ashlands if you already disliked Mistlands ^^
its fine.
Mistlands is very drastically different from ashlands tho.
It indeed is
You will slowly notice that the problem is the average player themselves and not the game...
I did find Mistlands pretty chill by just removing the use of Wisplight to stay hidden. Although, not really fun to just look at a cloud of mist all day ^^
As for Ashlands, its a whole different beast compared to the first 5 biomes of the game.
I loved the original version of Valheim a lot, though Mistlands and Ashlands has not been the greatest in my opinion. Although, the coming changes to Ashlands sure will make it better, leaving mistlands as the "worst" experience for someone that doesnt like having to look at mist and climb mountains every 2 seconds ๐
My multiplayer group of 6-8 regulars is having trouble upgrading Ashlands weapons: too few gems for multiple people wanting a couple of weapons a piece (and being able to upgrade them).
No other biome gives us trouble finding enough resources to accomadate our group size. And we don't want to play with ALL resources increased just to have enough gems for us.
Any similar experiences or is Charred Chest RNG just reaaaaallly hating on our group?
Ashlands seems better at night, imo.
Don't use your asksvins as a bodyguard while trying to collect grausten with the battering ram. They love you so much they'll push you into lava trying to get right next to you
spoken from experience?
Yep
does the mistlands have any high valuable items that arent able to be teleported ?
Ashlands gonna have the same utter nerf to spawnrate as Mitlands had a year ago. Maybe that's a IG strategy โ make biome hard as intended, allow experienced players to have their fun and then change it to fit average reddit user.
If you kill the ashlands boss will ashlands enemies start spawning in other biomes at night like fuelings and seekers do after killing thier respective bosses?
yes
Do you know if its just the charred or everything?
charred warrior
ew, the most annoying variant
I find twichers more annoying. Warriors are more straightforward though dangerous
Dvergr extractor that you need for sap extractor.
I find it a good idea to have some blackmetal with you so when you find one tou can put it down on the nearest root, then put 2 portals near it, one to get to it, the 2nd to get to the next sap extractor and make a portal loop to visit them all and collect sap.
Not remotely.
oh so if i already have blackmetal with me then i wont need to be sailing back to my home base at all?
Exactly, you need 5 for every sap extractor and 10 wood for a workbench.
I always have 5-10 blackmetal with me when exploring the mistlands so whe ni find dvergr with an extractor i pufferfish the dvergr take the extractor and fidn the nearest root to plant in on, I also always have portal mat,s I'll put down a portal and go and get more portal mats for another portal near the extractor and to have another pocket portal with me.
It does limit what i can carry but saves travel time.
I've turned the portal restriction off. After over 4,300 hours of playing Valheim "as intended" I deserve it.
I learned it can be two archers too
yeah the no portal thing is weird anyway. it's added with the idea you'll explore more but who's taking their full load of iron into unexplored regions
This is my second time playing through the Mistlands with my wife. (I've done a couple of solos and another with a server group.) Yesterday I finally convinced her to wield Demolisher, because of how much easier it would make the dungeons if we are both wielding it. She finally agreed. Now she loves Demolisher. ๐
Both of us swinging away with Demolisher makes things soooo much easier.
I agree, it is weird. I still explore. I need to find dungeons. I need to find cores, and seal breakers. I needed to do similar at the black forest stage, the swamp stage, and so on. The need for mats has me explore plenty. Heck, at the plains level, the thirst for revenge has me explore more than at any other time.
No one, because you are taking all that iron to your main base, not anywhere else
They are?
All give exp to their respective skill
it's on fire which means you can easily rack up combo points with it
to have a cool looking and decent weapon
was the mod updated after ashlands? haha
Bug probably
remind you its Alpha still :p
encountered too many seekers in the mistlands?
Up server? Am a new player
I always have a full stack of iron bar on my boats. I frequently need a stone cutter to either repair a tower to be a base of operations on a given island, or to tear them down for more mats. Especially in the Mistlands. From now on, though, portal every where, once I get there in the first place.
But the statement in question was about a full load of iron, when in the case of building outposts you should only need a few max
It also depends on whether there could be a swamps nearby, there usually is
how much fps can i get on high settings with
rtx 3050 4gb
16 gb 4800mhz ddr5 ram
ryzen 5 6600h?
Why don't you just... Test it yourself?
Hello there
It's your machine, not ours, how could we know?
back in the day you could dupe all those after finding a single dungeon
because i dont have it genius?
you buy something depending on its performance
and since i couldnt find anyone with those specs in youtube
i came here to see if theres someone with those specs
if i could test it i wouldnt ask it
The FPS in the game varies wildly. So thatโs not an easy question to answer.
For comparison, Iโm playing on an i9-14900 + RTX 4070, and it will dip into the 30s at times. But I am running maxed settings, and that only happens in our big, complex, main base. Everywhere else I donโt even notice the frame rate.
do you use vulkan and dlss
No on Vulkan. No on dlss. I think (I would need to check on dlss).
Loading into the game takes a little bit, but that was just upon first generating my world so it might be a one time thing.
(Nvidia 1660 + Intel i9)
I get a nice framerate otherwise.
eh i reckon id get above 60 on high settings with vulkan and dlss then
In most areas easily.
i was getting 80-90 with rtx 2080
but that was like a year ago and i had an absolute rubbish cpu
also no vulkan or dlss
I literally just started so...
I'm still in the meadows with a tiny shack lol.
Not a whole lot to render there.
get like 5 ppl to play with you
the game doesn't really get laggy unless you add a lot of instances for building or raising/lowering the land
last year me and like 5 friends sailed to kill the 3rd boss it was really fun
I'm only really gonna have one base in the meadows or something and another in the mountains because I wanna make a stone fortress.
Maybe one in the new biome but yeah.
One base for logging, two for mining, one for farming.
So probably more like 2 meadows bases, 1 mountain base, one ashlands base.
But that's like... far in the future once I figure out how to get a proper foothold.
Plains farm?
My only exposure to Valheim before now was Soundsmith.
I spawned on a barrier island lol
Like I said, just started.
So I don't even know what all the mechanics are.
you gon need portals before setting up multiple bases
Makes sense.
You donโt need portals, but it helps, in some regards (theyโre actually no help in some regards).
I like the game's atmosphere so I might omit portals.
i love portals
we used to set sail to new biomes and bring portals with us to make outposts
we had gladiator tourneys going on as well
damn i really got to get my guys playing again
I use them. We have a couple of dozen or so scattered about. But I also love sailing. And just exploring on foot.
once i was afk on the ship and one of those sea snakes targeted us
my friends were shooting at it but they accidentally shot the ship
lol, never AFK on a boat!
when i came back all the loot was floating as well as my teams bodies
it was a 20 min sail to the 3rd boss ๐ญ
we had extra loot for like 4 more boats in the boat
eventually we lost 5 boats
took me almost an hour to recover all the loot
I have a quick question! Is there a lore reason we can't take ore through portals? (***I'm 100% fine with it and not arguing, I'm just curious if there's a story-related reason behind it, because I really love reading the story stones you find across the map, and I haven't noticed anything about it.)
Because Odin deems it so-
XD
uhhh well if i'm not mistaken, and correct me if i'm wrong, but i belive it's because unworked metals are more porous and if you were to teleport with that you'd become ironman
I see, lol! That's about what I thought, haha. Thanks guys, I was just curious if I missed something, but apparently not. :)
Wait till you find the iron fireplace thingsโฆ
Portals are basically just a QoL feature that limit the amount of nonsense involved in moving your entire residence through the game or spending hours sailing back and forth because you need or forgot something. Something I really wish Minecraft had. A no portal run is effectively just more time commuting between places, it doesn't add any real new depth to the game. It does make advance preparation a lot more important because if you forget something or don't reset your spawn to a base on a new island, your punishment is going to be a few more real hours of your life sailing between point A and B
The default everything-but-ore teleport is a nice balance between still requiring some sailing and foot traffic, and quick transits for supplies or to head home from an explored location
Ok, so I'm trying to find a 2 star wolf in my solo server and I haven't seen one ever. I've tried going further away from spawn on a small mountain, even trapped the local stone golem so he isn't killing anything and still no luck. I've tried looking for a 2 star for several nights in game in a row, still no luck. I've even seen packs with a 1 star or two, still no 2 star. Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
Finding a two star wolf took me forever as well. I finally had some luck when I sailed to a very large mountain about halfway to the edge of the world map from my center spawn. Found two within a couple nights
Well that gives me some hope. I'm on a mountain that close to the edge of the world too. Lots of flat areas.
Being high up also helps. You'll know if you're in the right vicinity if you see fenrings, apparently they and 2* wolves share a spawn chance
Good to know, I've seen plenty of those here. So maybe I'm close, just need to grind out a few more nights at this new spot.
Good luck and be careful. They hit like a truck
A wolf at night has basically a 1% chance of being a 2*. It's got a 10% chance of having a star, and a starred wolf has a 10% chance of adding a star. It wouldn't be out of odds to see near 200 wolves before seeing any two stars.
Ya that's what I was reading. I've seen about 3-4 1 stars on this mountain so far, usually in a pack. About 2-3 fenrings too.
I'm killing everything I see too.
Sounds about right. One stars are still worth capturing, you will need something to breed the 2* with, and a 1* will keep itself alive in the mountains a bit better than basic wolves.
How would stars be added, can you train them?
No, I'm saying "adding" a star as in a one star spawn has a 10% chance of becoming a two star instead. There is no way to upgrade or train animals or enemies.
Ya, I've tamed a 1 star and have been breeding them for a while now. Funny enough, I tamed that one on a mountain that was attached to my spawn island
Then buy it to test it? You have a two-hour window to refund the game which is enough time to see performance...
The passive aggressiveness won't get you far either btw
Mate either give an answer like Scott Hill did or just keep quiet
Why would i spend a grand to buy a laptop to see if it runs valheim?
If it doesnt run it im gonna refund the laptop?
Well, thought you meant the game, not the laptop, which was my mistake.
Still doesn't excuse the passive aggressive answer tho
Sounds like your issue is more to do with capabilities vs cost on a computer than the game. I would say that Valheim would work on a computer that isn't labeled a gaming laptop, but then you are limited to how much manipulation you do to the game, as in building large or doing a lot of terraforming.
I already told you i was gonna buy a laptop depending on the performance not the game itself (which ive owned for 2 years)
Sorry for being aggressive but i had to deal with a lot of monkeys today (dont count yourself in, talking about irl people)
Actually, I was unaware that you were looking at getting a new laptop. I figured you were talking about the specs you have. And then was confused when you started talking about playing the game previously.
I am buying a new system
And comparing systems on performance
I see. Yeah, that wasnโt clear.
I have a 12 yo ultrabook that's below min specs. It runs Valheim poorly. Any laptop you'd find new in a store today would run it.
Re: laptop.
I can run Valheim at 1080p above minimum settings on my i7-7700HQ with 16 GB of RAM and a GTX 1050. Frame rate away from my build sites ranges between 40-60 fps. That computer is a Lenovo Legion from 2016
I won't talk about the frame rate at my main base, lol.
This is the thing - away from base in most areas itโs going to absolutely fine - at base itโs going to be entirely dependent upon how you make stuff.
Im always disheartened to find in every game ive played that large bases that arent just a shell always lag. my pc isnt top notch but pretty good and still lag a good bit at home. have experienced some lag in the ashlaands because of large numbers of enemies spawning in together
Yeah, Ashlands lag is very much a thing.
Alright, sorry for the seemingly initially rude question.
Similarly, I've seen people ask stupid questions here, and it was a genuine question on my part because some are legitimately clueless on what is the most logical course of action.
My main PC has a 4th Gen i5 and a GTX 1060 and does okay in Ashlands but also gets somewhat humbled by my base
But I have seen the odd stutter in both Ashlands and mistlands, and I definitely do not have the settings cranked up
i pray for the day that i can build till my hearts content on some game. actually no i dont pray but hope like hell and suspect ill always be disappointed
pricing quantum computer now. ha i wish
ัั
Sorry, English only on this server please.
omg, has any of you tried the lighting weapons inside fuling vilages yet? ๐คฃ
Keep in mind the XX50 tier are not designed as gaming powerhouses, so don't expect really high performance. You're going to be rocking very middle of the road settings and sitting in the 60 fps range most likely.
With some configurations i believe i can get 80 90 in high settings and like 30 in laggy bases imo
does this game support ps4 controllers
or only xbox and mouse&keyboard
asking because I'm out of batteries for my mouse
It should support Steam Input on PC, so anything that works through that should be ok IIRC.
so it should work just as it would an xbox controller?
I think that's very unlikely, especially on a 4 GB mobile GPU on high settings, but best of luck. Valheim on high humbles xx60 and 70 cards tiers, and the performance of the 3050 is quite a bit below them.
Perfectly playable at reasonable frame rates on moderate settings absolutely, though.
either way, thank god I'm not forced to play elden ring and GoT until I get batteries
I don't use a controller or have a PS4 controller to guarantee that, but that's my understanding
nevermind the controller layout for this game is too confusing
Part of the "problem" with Valheim is it's both CPU and GPU heavy, and laptops often have a lower ability to exhaust heat, so when you're working both major heat sources heavily many laptops will run into issues.
(late answer but) I gotta say that the altitude does not influence the luck. I got my first 2โญ wolf by "Luck" and at the closest mountain near my base, when I was going after Ferings to fully upgrade my armor. So my tip is, DONT look for them, they will come to you.
There are more layouts available in settings (I use console 1)
Group of 5 of us finally got to Ashlands last week--the biome is completely unplayable with all the lag/rubber banding. Mobs are killing us before they load; Morgens are all over the place. Is everyone having the same experience?
Ive seen some benchmarks from last year (even tho the game evolved a lot since then) they were getting pretty much the same fps
If the PTB test is live, all you need to do is go there again. However I'm not facing any lag there, and the pc I was using is only 1060 TI.
Solo run tho
Add cannons to the game so we can shoot entities before we land โ๏ธ
it would be too hard to aim those cannons if not switch* to FP or had a consistent aim to it. Would be funny, tho
I'll add we're playing on a dedicated server.
Can't you just launch fireballs from a staff before you land? ๐
Ok, I wondered about proximity to my spawn point. I haven't ever seen a 2 star wolf in this server. I've seen them in my old server, and just caught a 2 star in a joint server that was created right before Ashland came out. Starting to make me wonder if my server (created after Ashland's update) spawns them at all.
2* wolves only spawn at night iirc
I had a pit which I had my no star wolf tamed ready, and the only "tip" I can give is do not go after them, it seems like the game knows and roasts you for doing so. A "similar" thing that happened to me was with the Dverger trophy. It took me nearly 200 killed (not only by me) to drop one. And it dropped when I was building a fancy building in the mistlands when a soldier killed two of them nearby...
Starred wolves in general, unless the devs changed it
still is, I believe
Ya, I can see that. When my boyfriend and I found the 2 star in his server, we weren't even going to try to look for one. We actually had just finished taming a 1 star when we found the 2 star.
it is indeed still that way ๐
It's certainly nice to have the 2 stars for the extra meat, but I also wouldn't spend a ton of time searching them out either
I haven't played since before the mistlands update, did they remove the ability to get rid of the grass at some point?
oh boy i see ashlands im nervous now
as in the ground grass?
you can use cultivator's pathen to do that , im not sure how it worked before
yeh, it used to just all go away with the setting for it but it seems that setting has been removed, it helped keep my comp from running quite as hot
lock in you'll be aight
theyre easily destructible (?)))
ashlands is goated
๐ซ
oooh you mean like graphic settings
bro this is insane
is there like blackforest type rocks u can build beneath then at all ? or do i gotta spawn in a huuuuge rock
Hey, everybody. Glad to have such a nice community. You can immediately see a friendly team, and that such a horror in the chat rooms I saw).
like troll cave?? yes theres morgen cave, but compared to trolls cave theyre still very dangerous
yeh, there was a setting to remove the grass, they must have changed it at some point, oh well
wait what even is a cave, it lost all of its meaning for me for some reason
i was more thinking like big copper rocks, arent those good protecc ?
but i do dig troll cave designs as well
ah nope, not only that theres no such things
a lot of the enemies in ashlands deals massive structural damage so theyd be easily destroyed
well fuck
They did. The lowest vegetation setting still includes grass now since they improved the performance at the lowest end, as it was never intended to really look that way and made mushrooms, etc. too easy to find.
trolls can destroy those rocks too, very easily, so they were never really protection
i fought plenty trolls on top of those but never did they break
welp, now im out of base ideas
tips ? ๐
thanks for the confirmation, I needed to make sure I wasn't missing it somewhere
Best place to make an "underground" base in the Black Forest is under an altar for the Elder. Free permanent flame above, pretty large area you can take over, and if you decide to dig out to the sides a bit you can even build on the pillars and such as ground-strength support.
my elder spot isnt deep enuff, its okayish but not like proper
the only real safe place in ashlands is just the fortress
or if you want you can have a coastal base (enemies can still damage your base but theres less enemies that can deal structural damage)
There are multiple in every world, maybe another one is a better location. But yeah, that is the biggest risk when it's low elevation.
WAIT im confused what were you even referring to???
you were asking about structures in ashlands or am i wrong
i dont know what else to interpret "assland rock" for beside a typo for ashlands
yeah ashlands :D
my world only had 2 and both very coast ๐ซ the other is like dig less than halfa meter and u getting water in, so i thought on my next run im praying to get a proper elder altar
theres a fortress in ashlands ?
a bunch of em
are there always structures around or did i get a lucky landing
ruins are pretty plentiful in the ashlands
like... are we talking ruins or like proper stuff ?
damn i just had like 5 dudes on me
now that's lucky -- only 5?
i like that the warriors have a juke attack
What is the best gem for the slayer?
so i gotta build an armor that protecc from heat ?
fire resist potions
proper stuff, its not exactly the most elaborate fortress however, its just a box
bro this is giving me the feeling of playing valheim for the first time
like think of dwarven mini-structure (non-queen)
what forsaken is best for ashlands though
bonemass imo
When in doubt, Bonemass
so many physical damages, the elementals damage you can easily avoid, but being able to tank some damage definitely helps
so far ive seen ruins but they can take damage?
regular ruins yes can take damage, ashlands fortress however, cant atm (without the use of player made siege weapons)
The "strongholds" you need battering rams or catapult to damage make for great(if small) bases.
The ones with the green beams comming out of them and often a warlock in the mix.
not like you need anything more than a workbench and a portal as a base anyway
welp another biome means another 3 blackmetal chests for depo
ok so valkyrie is terrifying
AYYY founda base wit some necrolight
kinda sick of constantly picking up grautsen
Turn off auto pickup?
i guess
Keep a hammer on you and make stacks of 50 at random as you search.
why my vallheim is crashing when loading the game ?
How is it crashing? Do you have any mods installed?
no its fresh installed
when loading the world
Turn off auto pickup like Derek said, or you can split stacks to fill your inventory with things you want to actually auto pickup.
Depends on a lot of things, but the most common crash is due to first load after ashlands went live. If that's the case, leave it be on the loading /froze screen for 5-10 minutes.
It gives a "Valheim is not responding" error or something similar? Just wait. Initial load of a world can take a while depending on your PC, up to 5 minutes. Just don't touch the mouse, keyboard, anything and let it load.
Is it worth to tame wolves? Not sure if I wanna upkeep meat for them and for some reason I just forsee then trying to attack everything and anything and dying
ok i try thank you guys
They're nice to have around IMO, but as far as mechanically there's no real reason. But tamed animals don't starve, just like you don't. You only need to feed them if you want to breed them or heal them.
2star wolves are murder in a pack up to the plains. Harder sell for mistlands or ashlands.
hmmm what to make of the tower in the middle of the fortress ๐ค
i tend to use it a s a place to store my backup portal
i could either, use the pillars as a foundation for a huge ass roof, or i could make smaller departments within the walls for stuff
can i break in the door ?
you should be with siege weapon
i just dug into it from below
They are unrepairable, so break with care if you are going to reuse the stronghold.
just when i think it cant get crazier i see a green beam
Wait you can dig under the door?!
go there
yep only the inner door though
the outer wall is too deep to dig under
Definitely not where the green beam casserole is at๐
i just realised that means i could make this base deep af ๐ณ
20 min into asslands and i found last boss location ๐ญ
Lucky find. When I was in PTB (pre live) mine was a good 1h(irl time) of running from mobs away from my main base.
Ended up finding and raiding 3-4 strongholds before finding the boss spawn.
lol why are the ballistae shooting at me
they shoot at everything that moves, stupid machines
have to drop a trophy in them to make them only shoot at a specific mob
you can program it using trophy ๐
i thought i would make this a quick wsmall build but
I just wish it had more options
๐คท
not really, but its nice to have
A portal fob at the very least
im torn if im ready to make all this terraforming ๐
You don't like picking the ground for 3 hours?
not the biggest fan
Maybe I'm making an incorrect assumpion. You can only do one mob type per ballistae?
i have a problem with my valheim, evrytime i try to start a new world or just log in to it local server the game crash use steam.. have to probel with onlie servers
tho for a cool af underground base yes, but this would be like a very deep fortress so idk, i dont even have a design in mind
Only vineberries grow in ashlands, which can grow anywhere else that's a better option
looking for a good server to play on central time
That way good sir -----> #1024264966712340510 ๐
thanks, i was scrolling through, just so many to pick from
holy ashlands food is dope
and easy to make
oh and i can make zerker axes in ashlands ?
Ashlands be going goooood
magic seems OP and itโs been super fun to explore and gather all the new materials
thank you devs!!!! I know people are moaning abt it but still is good fun !!!
RIGHTTTT im already in my ashlands farming era
wait fr i didnt even try magic
Staff of fracturing does decent damage to stuff
Iโm waiting to get the Ashlands mage armour tho, someone said itโs good to have a mage and then a tank player at the same time to deal with the mobs
ive learned setting up a power combo is useful against valkyries
when it comes to ashlands what do you need ||Bonemaw serpent teeth for?||
bow and crosbow iirc
also spear
so nothing good?
wdym nothing good? XD those are plenty good
Bow?
Pierce resist
Crosbow?
Pierce resist
Spear?
Pierce resist
they still work fine ๐ at least the bow does, didnt use much of crosbow and spear
and dont forget you will have those also in the deep north ๐
I'm looking for a mod that just shows xp gains, does one exist?
try #mods-discussion folks there know more about them ๐
Thanks
Enchanted crossbows (or not) are still good against valks
Or even regular charred if you have like the green enchantment, helps to trap them if you do got it
What to use as a trellis for the grapes?
Trellis?
i have seen people use dividers
Like the walls?, I think you can use anything, I myself used regular wooden wall and wooden beam
It's one of the more aesthetically pleasing choices yee
I haven't yet focused on making pretty builds just trying to get a lot of seeds first
also the ashwood decorative walls and windows
other than that any wall piece will do i believe
I just did a dvergr divider. Seems like each plant needs one wall piece of separation in space
Iโm using stone. Because you can then grow vines on both sides.
Ah divider doesn't allow that?
wait.. what? you can grow the ash lands grapes?
yep
How?
Gonna be making some fine vintage reds!
when you pick them up there is a chance to get seeds, they look kinda like grey onion or carrot seeds
and im still not use to the ashlands so where do the grapes spawn?
I still haven5 found flametal
Yeah. Itโs not easy, and theyโre a little bugged, so only grow and produce fruit slowly and sporadically. They may also lose some growth and grapes when you logout or portal away. But they will grow in any biome, I believe.
they are on walls of big ruins there, they are probably the biggest structure you will see there, also there are towers of the same style, just smaller, in water sometimes
yep they do ๐
Just need a seed and cultivated soil near a wall with no overhangs, then plant seed close but not too close.
About 1/3 to 1/2 meter away from the wall seems best - just far enough that itโs not clipping.
Oh they need open space in front of the wall when getting started, but once theyโre established you can have rows 2m apart.
there was a whole setup in the building chat section...let's see if I can find it.
I just posted mine here: #building-screenshots message
I'm getting 3-4 groups of 3 clusters per in-game day, on average, from this, and probably averaging 2-3 seeds per in-game day.
And then these: #building-screenshots message
Which produce 1-2 groups of clusters per in-game day, and occasional seeds.
For the grapes I've figured out that they really like height and they really like to be spaced a lot further apart than the minimum the game lets you do. I use the wood roof cross to make walls, and you can plant on one side starting at the edge then going 6 m and planting the next one, on the other side start in about 3 meters and then plant every 6 meters so they are offset from one another and they grow pretty well. Not really sure how long they take to regrow, but it works a lot better than my first round that I tried where I went broader and didn
didnt give a lot of height
Oh also build out the walls first, it seems if you try to add them after it causes growth problems later on
Really not very impressed by the ballista so far
hi guys, do extinguished torches still prevent mobs to spawn?
Yep.
ty
how do i get my friend to play i just beated eikthyr and my friend sayed this game is not for me and i dont like it but like ik he likes it he has 12 hours on this game and he is saying this game is not for him what do i tell him
"this game is not for you"
but do you think that way?
"this game is not for him"
then so be it if he thinks that way
you cant exactly force people to like something, some people just dont like some stuff and thats ok
yeah but like ik he likes it
i know it can be sad and lonely that your friends arent abroad the thing you like but thats just how it is
how do you know, did he not say that the game is not for him
"well I really like this game, let me know if you ever change your mind I'll be happy to play with you again"
thats a way to go about it yeah
we are best friends we always play every game together like everygame and he liked this game in the beginning when we builded our house etc now we are in the farming point and he just quit
well i mean, theres reasons why he quit the game, if you want to you can try understanding what those reasons are and mitigate it
if he dislikes the farming/grinding aspect of the game maybe you can take care of it for him
but there isnt much yo ucan do if he just doesnt like the way things are right now, and to force something upon him wouldnt exactly be nice
like ask why are you quitting, i love playing it with you, anything i can do to like make it less painful or more fun to you
If he says it isn't for him, that means he doesn't like it. Don't delude yourself just because you do.
I literally bought a copy for one of my friends IRL and he also played a few hours before deciding he didn't like it either. We're still friends, we still do other stuff together, the game isn't for everyone.
Stone portal is amazeballs
There are ways to make it less grindy.
example
Turn up resources. Use no build cost. Use mods. etc
Use the modifiers to strike a balance that doesn't burn you out
Some turn up difficulty to offset the increased resource gain
resource gain is the big one, doesnt make th game easier just makes you spend less time slapping a tree in the woods
two people you should be on at least 2x
hard is uh, different, its more aggravating as it makes you play insanely slow in combat
?
you basically just cant get hit on hard and v hard
its just a damage multiplier + more 1-2* mobs
yes i'm fully aware, but that doesn't mean you play insanely slow in combat
In fact if you play slowly in combat on the harder difficulties that's a death sentence
you spend more time running away from things and avoiding fights. ive straight up seen people making platforms every 20 feet in the snow/plains to avoid being hit
basically everything after the woods one shots you
yes i'm fully aware, i exclusively play on very hard
yeah so im sure you just play rambo
Even if you turn up resources and play on easy, do what makes it fun
Really? I don't think you really need to touch the modifiers until 4 or more players really. Unless you REALLY hate resource gathering. But yeah, what Apex says, do what you need to actually enjoy the game.
1.5 seemed perfect for 3 players
Damn you can change stuff like that now? Looks like thereโs a bunch of new things to check out when going back to valheim in a few weeks
Anyone else spawn a bunch of bonemaws vs. serpents and just watch the ocean battle?
Bonemaws will fight regular serpents?
I understand the ashlands complaints now
Yes. Very yes.
man switching begtween valheim and elden ring is rough because of valheim's jank dodge binding lol
Do your vines spread to cover the whole of your trellis on both sides, and do they produce fruit on both sides too? Also, have you tried placing two rows of trellis (like my two rows of stone wall), and can you plant the vines between them?
If yes on all of those, I might start again with mine (I have way more than enough seeds).
yknow the more i play ashlands the more i feel like the juke attacks really arent choreographed any differently
Differently than what? The player power attack?
I think they have like 3 attacks. regular swing, forward stab power attack like players (this is the one that has the juke) and then there's an upper cut attack
they have jukes as well
The feint attack is just a double-pump in terms of parry.
Click block as if it is normal, if you don't get a parry, immediately click again and you will.
also i like how the flametal mace does noticeably less damage than mistwalker against these skeletons lol
Also, trying out Demolisher for the first time... holy crap this weapon rocks.
Do you have a lightning gem in it? Its the magic damage that really makes the flametal weapons pop
Except lightning is a 1 time proc.
didnt know that was a thing
Gems are collected from the fortresses
Whereas Spirit Damage from Mistwalker is every single hit.
i am REALLY liking berserkir
the dual axes are fire especially with a lightning or jade gem
bro holy shit now im excited for gem stuff i had no idea that would be a thing
this is like monster hunter decos
hehe
Yeah they boost up any flametal weapon
i yeeted myself down the tallest mountain in valhiem
you got pushed by a golem?
NAH
i used a feather cape and jumped down it
took me a minute to touch the ground
posted it in clips it was kinda insane
ok time to do a fortress ive just been hording for so long
has anyone else been getting lag spikes
Lag how?
idk seemingly at random in ashlands my game will just stutter
Yes. We get lag spikes too. And Iโve seen numerous people reporting it.
bet that makes me feel better
Theyโre currently testing some changes to spawn rates, so, hopefully that helps.
hey does the harpoon launch still work?
I didn't make my trellises that close together, after some initial troubleshooting I decided to just turn a big old garden we had into a vineyard and give them plenty of space, so there's about 4 meters between each trellis, but they do grow and produce on both sides if you get the spacing right. Most are completely covered, a couple don't want to quite work right and I'm not sure why.
Hey yall, I havent played since the games original release pretty much and im pretty lost on what the armor progression is as most guides and such are from quite a long time ago, what is the armor progression and tool progression? I know its like troll to bronze but what is it with all the new stuff?
i think it goes:
- leather armor
- troll armor
- bronze armor
- iron armor
- wolf armor
- padded cuirass
- carapace armor
- flamemetal
Depends on your playstyle
Yeah. you can get into magical related stuff I think? i haven't gotten that far. my friend has.
leather armor
troll armor/bronze
iron armor/root
wolf armor/fenris
padded cuirass
carapace armor/mage
flamemetal/ask/ashlandsmage
Can mix and match too
as for pickaxe tools, it goes
- antler pickaxe
- bronze pickaxe
- iron pickaxe
- blackmetal pickaxe
a lot of this stuff is basically found directly on the valheim wiki on fandom
i asked microsoft co-pilot and its answers were abominable lol
There are different playstyles now? I guess im going to be playing normally and using a sword and bow and shooting things from range and a sword to attack people with
Also sorry for all the questions but what food do yall use? Im at the bronze stage getting into iron
Is there like a list somewhere that tells all the stam foods and such?
like right now im using turnip stew, deer stew and sausages, is that a good mix?
That's a decent mix yes
seems like its 1 stam and 2 health
im assuuming it would be good to change them out based on what im doing, like mining go to 2 stam 1 health and boss fighting 2 health 1 stam?
Yea, eating for what you're gonna to be doing is wise
Going on a forage run? stam food, going to fight some stuff/dungeon time? health food and pack some potions if you want
Valheim is all about preparation
i can see that lol
game worth getting?
@livid cave you don't own valheim? It's a staple game, even people who dont play survivals get on it and enjoy it
im discovering the swamp biome for the first time
wtf
im not going back in the water again
tbh leather armor should be buffed, give a speed bonus or smth
it's skippable, you can just skip to troll/bronze
its a nightmare
As a new player where do you get bones? The starting leather gear requires bones to upgrade it but not finding any in the meadows
bones are in the forest in crypts, skeletons will also be around them
is there any way to place yggdrasil trees via console? or have one you cut regrow?
Buy it for me pls ๐
So the true difficulty of Ashlands is the stupid amount of trash on the ground you are constantly picking up.
When does their tuning patch go live? I may shelf it until then.
no one knows
is there pvp in valheim
Just fight sir
im on a boat rn and I dont know how to stop it
Drop the sail sir
You gotta pull the ebrake
is there any sea monsters?
Shelfing the game until they improve ashlands. Catch you all in a few weeks!
DONT, YOU CAN BEAT IT SIR
if you are playing solo the boat will stop once you jump off
ahh good to know
Or technically all players jump off ๐
So is there any way of building underground?
no you have to dig out and can pop a stone roof over the top is best you can do, or build underwater with devcommands, the rest is not possible in vanilla game
damn that sucks
omg a huge snake
||you can also dig under the elder altar, hollow out under it and build there, it will float and not need support and comes with a fire that never goes out||
with good skill you can take it with a finewood bow, or drag to land with the harpoon, all the drops sink except the meat if you defeat it in water
make sure it doesnt fully eat your boat up far from land
waht happend if I die in the water?
you might have to make a new boat to get back to your body then
is there any kraken?
Not yet
land kraken
not a kraken but something called a leviathan (it does not attack you)
is this the huge water snake ?
well im glad
more turtle like
but i dont think we ever really see how it looks like underwater
No, that one is called a Serpent. (Serpent does attack you and your boat) The Leviathan looks like a floating rocky island and you can get something from it!
you can look underwater with devcommands if you're so inclined
hy, i just tried to replant an oak tree a few times in the plains and the third time it dropped 9 seeds ! ? was that a bug or is the drop chance from 0 to 9 or more ?
what's your resource rate on?
everything vanilla standard
are you running any mods?
vanilla !
oh mb lmao it's late
hmmm, either you're on mods that you don't know of or you're on 3x resource rate or something
well i know the wiki is wrong on some things, maybe on this one too ?
nah odds are there's something on your end here ngl lol
well the other drop rates are all acording to the wiki tho..
could also be leftovers seed you didnt pick up
wow, the mace can 1 shot askvins if you parry them first
No no, Ashlands is too difficult and needs to be nerfed into the ground ๐
glad i never claimed that ๐
Here's a random one:
Does the woodchop swing of an axe count as an "attack"?
i don't think so since it doesn't allow you to chop trees the same way you attack enemies
It doesn't let you continue the chain, but it is the same initial animation.
Wondering because if so, Asksvin Armor set could be god-tier for tree farming (for those of us who do it the non-cheese way).
is there a askvin armor set??
or do you mean the Ask armor?
and if it's for chopping trees then clothing is better if it's considered a "tool" xD
The Ask set that is made out of Asksvin Hide?
Ergo Asksvin Armor ๐
with 35% stamina reduction
just wanted to make sure, sometimes some content remain hidden for a while ^^
??????
hildir's quest, hood gives like 15% tool stamina reduction and the robe or what it's called gives another 20%
i don't know - haven't tested it yet ๐
only knows it works for cultivator (but still avoids using it in plains due to malaria)
remember ashen Cape for Ask armor if you want max stamina reduction if it counts as an attack
I would assume Cultivator, Hoe, Hammer.
But that means Wiki needs updating because it says Hammer only ๐
and they say developers are slow ๐คฃ
Will go to test world and spawn some stuff. One min.
i have reached a bad stage in my valheim experience now
harpoon has become a must have tool i always carry with me now :/
Hildr Clothing does not affect axe chopping.
Ask armor does reduce stamina cost by 20%.
This is... ๐
remember Ask Cape then ๐
lol
Also, imagine a world where you can build a Tar Bomb for crowd control?
People really undervalue Hildirโs stock
Legit it says ALL stamina use
Just tested it though, it isn't all.
Addendum to my "Mistwalk or Krom for Ashlands"
Uh... Demolisher is a beast.
And idk how mob density is too high if you have Demolisher...
Just fought 10 charred and they couldn't even touch me given the knockback on this thing.
What isnโt affected?
Axe swings, for starters?
Huh
Hildr's clothing specifically stats "Base Item stamina"
-> Hammer, Hoe, Cultivator
Interesting
They changed that since I last looked at the descriptions ๐ค
Entirely possible, especially given the sets for Ashlands.
So.. first non-flametal marker I have placed in Ashlands -> Found a very abandoned building that has so much vine on it, yields 81 Vineberries. ๐
It sure is. Once I get the demolisher I won't leave home without it anymore.
Only thing to replace it is staff of the wild, if you happen to go full mage in Ashlands. Else I'd still carry the big hammer ๐
I'm a no-mag for the time being ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I'm playing on a dedicated server, at first went with a melee build. But the lag in Ashlands when playing as team was so bad at times (and got me killed so often) that I decided to switch to mage. That plays a little better with lag than melee.
Fair.
Solo player, so I don't have said issues.
tbh there are moments where I almost died in ashlands
like the fact that 1 star askvin has the similar color scheme with regular askvin, therefore didn't expect it to deal like 100 damage to me
We all die eventually.
I haven't died in a while so I would probably be sad if I do
I have several skills on 60-70+ levels
Thing that hurts most when I die is swimming skill tbh.
swimming skill is such a pain to lvl up
I went from 40 to 10 and I don't bother grinding it up again
Embrace death as a part of a journey. I use to have run 95 and died like 5 times in ashlands downgrading to 83
I'm at 81.
ouch
also, a lvl 70 axe vs lvl 20 axe is so noticeable
my friend tested it in pvp, and he took 70 damage vs 25 on my armor, despite him having better armor
Why have you been swimming so much? Are you avoiding boats for a challenge?
Bro won't need a new ship for ashlands. He will just swim here
My only real complaint since coming back is that you can hold E to put full stacks in chests, but you cannot hold E for full stacks in Smelters/Kilns ๐ญ
Hi ๐
I have a question, and I'd appreciate any input.
My character is far from base on my main world, I've logged out of that world and I want to play a different world. If I play a different world, when I log back in to the main world will I spawn where I left, or at my bed?
you'll spawn where you left
And you're 100% sure? I've been sailing for like 1.5 hours and it would be a tragedy
100% sure
Thanks all ๐
Much appreciated ๐ซถ๐ป๐ซถ๐ป๐ซถ๐ป
Yeah you can?
why are trolls with clubs so much scarier
Because they have much higher range to hit you with attacks.
Hold E is individuals. Not stacks.
I didn't know you can do that with stacks
Guess it doesn't matter ๐คท
Chests let you
It has always been base tool items
is the copper found in mistlands diff from the ones in the black forest?
its a different ore item but smelts to the same ingot
ohh okayh
black forest is called copper ore, mistlands copper scrap, both give you copper bar once smelted
Gives an Button to hide the UI to make an nicer screenshot??
The game is fun and all until you realise the most difficult boss to beat is yourselfโฆ ๐ ๐ฑ๐๐
Ctrl + F3
thanks
What Rianu said. If that does not work do ctrl + meta key (Windows key) + F3
i died in a fight against Fader and rage quited the game, im now going to go get my gear back. wish me luck guys... im going to need it
kinda cool to uncover the wooden beams of an old building that doesnt stand anymore while terraforming with the hoe
yeah that has happened to me, i once found the remains of a tower my friend built
mission successfulโ now i need to do some grinding and then ill rematch Fader.
nice
they have been just sitting on the ground for like a month
are dvergers immune to poison?
i dont think so, i just saw a dvergr get poisoned. idk if he took dmg tho
alright, ty
np
Their only immunity is Spirit.
and mages are resistant to fire and frost
what gear are you using? Also, fader is almost unbeatable with a melee build
Challenge accepted. ๐
Honestly if someone can beat fader in under 10 min in melee build I'll give my respects
Well now you're putting a timer on it...
His aoe is a death sentence for melee
i have done every boss until now with melee, Fader will not stop me now XD
Queen took 10 minutes in melee ๐คทโโ๏ธ
my friend had max level mage stuff but he sold his pc so i will be doing this alone. i have full flametal armor plus slayer, i was thinking of getting the berserkir axes. oh man, i thought you said "almost unbatable WITHOUT a melee build"
queen has physical resist though
fader doesn't, the problem is the aoe that prevents you from getting close to him
You underestimate my power!
fader is resistant ot pierce i believe, same as queen
All bosses resist pierce.
all bosses resist pierce yeah
Otherwise arrows would be king.
except like a few of them
It took me 20 min to beat fader with a group of 3
I was the designated mage, and I gotta say, my buddies died at least 5 times
eikthyr doesent, elder doesent, moder doesent
I did say a few
you said all, and thats nearly half of them ๐
more than half resist pierce
Since when is Moder not pierce resistant?
I guess I have to be more specific, late game bosses
that would be acurate statement ๐
moder doesn't, it would be unfair otherwise
I will have to roll through very old patch notes it seems.
late game bosses resist pierce I suppose because it would make their fights super trivial
Because I recall all bosses being pierce resistant to discourage "everyone just uses bows always" gameplay.
also, funny thing about fader
poison arrows is a viable strategy with him
since he doesn't resist poison
if you have a high enough bow level, that %damage modifier from poison arrows is significant enough
wait a second, i just read something abt fader that he does the spike attack when he is missing roughly 75% of his hp, if i remember right when i fought him, that was one of the first attacks he did
no lol, he does it from the start
bs forum then.
damn
i don't think any of the bosses in valheim have phases
anyway, poison arrows + draugr fang is a decent combo for beating fader
(if you're archer)
i found an useful strat for getting rid of fader's minions: if he does the spike attack after summoning, just run by all the skellies and they get obliterated by the spikes. someone probably found this out before me but i thought it was cool.
honestly the minions isn't the biggest problem
the spikes are, it's basically an insta gib
yeah but killing 2 birds with one stone
the spikes are horrible but theyre easy to evade
Queen kinda does in that she gets more tunnel-happy later on.
But it's the same mechanics. Just more frequent.
that's just her ability they added to keep people from auto attacking her with a hammer from the cubby
I would say best way for fader is to have two players ngl
Not true
It's true, but it depends on whether or not you're fighting him on range or melee
when all of my teammates (who uses melee) dies, he keeps using spikes every 2nd chance to do so
with my internet id say no, my friend kept getting kicked out and i was unable to parry/evade due to the horrible ping (like 200-300ping)
from my experience the best way to beat fader is to have a melee aggro who forces him to use his melee attacks (which are easier handled with bonemass) and a mage who focuses on dps
Itโs not, Iโve sank 50 ish hours studying his AI doing no hit/no armor/no magic great sword only challenge run and he legit has never done ground spike aoe before like 85% hp
@clear comet figured out how to kill him in melee in under 10 minutes ๐
I did say he starts using it around 80-90% HP, so I suppose what you've said is true
Walk into melee.
F5 killall
๐๐
It's deffo not 50% though
there are no phases in valheim like that, it's just you being a certain distance and/or the boss deciding to use that ability
yeah that was our tactic, i popped bonemass and my friend shot vines at him while i was using my middle mouse slayer attack on him
Ya, he canโt use it at 100% tho ๐
problem is once he starts using his ranged attacks
probably, so basically lightly injured
but yeah fader is absolutely a duo or even trio preference
with one person focus on the damage and the other tanking the aggro
problem was when my friend got thrown out of the game every 3 mins, and the biggest problem was when he got kicked out the second he died... bye bye max level staffs plus max level emblem set
is it possible to drop him into a pit filled with pufferfish and Eitr and just let him suffer in there?
Yep
he does have no poison resist, so possibly...
Eitr, the great boss slayer.
ah the disconnect where you lose all your stuff?
You can create a pit (outside of boss arena cause you canโt dig inside) put wood floors over it, lure him over, make him do his spin attack which breaks the floors and gg heโs in his lil hole
that would trivialize the fight
yup. so its more usual than i thought? i thought it has happened to almost no one
and actually really smart
Yep, itโs a cheese strat for sure
Vikings don't fight fair, we fight to win.
it happened to me once, it deffo sucks
regardless if you need help for fader, I can lend a hand later
seems like if you're using the console to spawn puffer fish and what not that the easiest cheese strat would just be turning on fly
or just !kill all
I've never spawned eitr for bosses. I legit make 200 of them if I go that route.
it does, it was the final nail in the coffin for my bro. i whipped out the dev commands to get his gear back (its not cheating right?๐ค )
it's not if it's due to lag tbh
yeah that was my thought too
consider it the circumstances
Fader sounds like I want to make more than 200 though.
did your bro made a magic trainer btw? If he does, he should have it easy in fader fight
I'm at lvl 60 elemagic and still took a while
ill try and fight him on my own first.
goodluck, if things comes to a shove, cheese methods, or draugrfang + poison arrows might work
nah, he sold his pc after the fight so he wont be coming back for a while
thanks
there are lots of ways to cheese in valheim but you're only really cheating yourself. another popular way is fires lol
My Fader arena is pretty bad in the sense that it has lava basically all around it in every direction but a narrow slice south, so external pits weren't really an option and of course you can't dig or raise in the arena itself (which by the way devs is nonsense, that's one of the best things about boss fights in Valheim is clever options).
I ended up surrounding the arena in a ring of raised earth with a few thousand stone gathered. First time I killed him I just dropped a few trolls on his head and used magic to support. The range on his spike attack is stupidly far, though, and he still managed to fling spikes so far that he could kill me right at the edge of the range of the Fader fight trigger despite being held to the center.
Second time I tested out Askvin. 23 1* Askvin took him down about 2/5 of his health before he spiked them. I then waded in to try melee, but he literally did nothing but spam spike attacks and summons until I ran out of stamina and died.
So I came back in mage gear and again trolled and Vine'd him to death from a distance.
My arena is really quite terrible though because there are elevation changes inside of it too. Seeing some others in videos where the whole thing is flat and there isn't dangerous lava all around would probably make life a bit easier.
that sucks, there's probably 2-3 other locations on your map that might be better though?
is there literally any way to know the time of day in valheim?
Quite possibly. Regardless, I have a Fader head on my power stone and another on my trophy wall of enemies shamed, so for now no motivation to bother fighting him again.
Look at the sun and lighting around you
valheim tends to be extremely sunny and in minutes its pitch black
Because minutes in real life are hours in the game
yeah 24 hours in game is 30 minutes. 21 day 9 night .. so saying minutes later is night is very acurate
yeah ik
Sunset takes on an orange hue, much like real life, so knowing roughly how long since dawn and watching the sky is a viable way. Weather makes it harder to tell, granted
im about to go mine some flametal ore and havent paid attention to the time cus ive been chatting here so im kinda lost abt the time
wohoo just hit day 600
Limit your Comfort to +14.
Rested timer will be 21 minutes, which is the exact day length.
So when you wake up, you have a "night timer" built in.
That's what I do ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Literally a "be home before dark" timer.
yeah ig that could work but i prefer longer rested effect
is fenris armor sufficient to fight yagluth?
I mean. I sleep through the night. So I literally always have Rested running. ๐คทโโ๏ธ longer timer wouldn't change the 100% uptime on the buff that I currently have.
do the flametal ore spiky things go under lava still? i read something abt it that they dont do that anymore
im usually stuck in some battle during the night when im out wandering
That's because you were out at night ๐
i guess:D
I am home before night.
how u make that whiter text?
You have to really mean what you're saying.
ah yes
i just saw a dvergr dip his feet in the lava and plop over dead
poor fella
literally poor, he had 2 coins on him and i robbed him.
I wonder what happens if you spawn tar_liquid over lava. ๐ค
something interesting i assume
Yes
Mobility is more important for yagluth
do the flametal spires go under lava anymore?
In PTB no
oh man
so ill need to be very quick
im at the top of the spire with no feather cape... oh no
yup i sank myself in the lava
On the (literally) bright side, feather cape wouldn't have done anything against lava, and might have even make you die faster due to fire weakness
yeah ig, just as i was reading your message an asksvin jumped me... i bet you know how that ended
Yes. Theyโre currently testing a change to them, and some other Ashlands stuff, but itโs not rolled out to everyone. And when it does it may not do so in its current form.
alright, thanks for the info
we went last night with some friends (group of 4) for the first time to ashland, the truth I loved this biome to be fighting constantly is really nice, the problem is if you die to group again or recover things is the complicated if you go step by step it feels very good if you work as a team I do not feel they are many enemies. we besieged a fortress and we were defeated first, but it was for lack of teamwork when we returned having already learned from our mistakes it felt very good
i found a flametal spire thats bugged, it has been greatly over a minute and its still not sinking
A good thing
there is currently 2 morgens and a big raven thing with me
i found a blessing and got cursed instantly afterwards
nah i'd win (i ran)
is it still possible to place portals in infested mines ?
don't think it ever was?
you can place them outside the dungeon but can't place them inside
Sun clock
Sooooo what you're saying is I can't read ๐คฃ
i saw it on a video
