Ok, so we got attacked by birds all the way until we found land, probably a 5 min ordeal due to fog. Was kinda panicking since the shit was as foggy as blipping Mistlands and the ship was almost destroyed because of constant birding, waving and spikes hitting. We get on land and the first thing that happens is the ship gets destroyed, we get 2 morgens, lizard things and a shit ton of skeletons and STILL 4-5 birds on our assess. I keep killing, they keep spawning. No break... My friend keeps using protection spell, we keep healing... still no break. My guy dies, I build a table and a portal. They destroy portal. I die... What is that even...

(sorry for the long text but) the only spoiler I saw was from the Ashlands launch trailer, I didn't know a thing. I avoided everything. So much that I tried using the longship to cross the boiling water at first, died, and then I recalled the queen's drop. I made the Drakkar and slowly got to shore where I docked. I ignored BoneMaw and killed some birds (maybe I was lucky that I found 2 Dvergrs where I docked), set a portal and Died trying to get bonemaw loot the water. Died again trying to retrieve my stuff. Then I crawled to mainland, facing 1 enemy at a time (as much as I could). Anyway, I didn't watch videos until I had entered my first "green beam at a distance". Did I find it overwhelming? Sure, but I avoided confronting/fighting for too long and using bonemass power at all times.

as far as the hotbar goes, 1-4 are weapons (1-5 if using a sheild) and 6-8 are food. if 5 is open, then a mead (health, stamina or resistance). that how I set it up.

That’s what we did too. Well, kinda, we’re actually on our third ‘main base’. But the first was, well, on a coast that wasn’t a coast. And then after getting quite established at our second base (that actually was on the coast), we found a location that had some nice defensive properties (large island in a river).

Got one unnamed portal for travelling / exploration and - due to landing at the wrong islands - two Ashland portals.

That's quite manageable for the time being, as my last Ashland portal will be at the Boss-landmass.
I still got an entire "wall" of the square left, so plenty of room for any Deep North portals.

the mountain area i found in mistlands/plains is a pretty substantial rock ridge so i can make a larger hub so i dont need to duplicate traders

Because I usually pick the swamp where he is found as the spot to remove iron from crypts. And I prefer the larger swamps so I don't have to explore multiple crypts for the iron I need.
Having a portal near a swamp that serves both purposes is easier - for me anyway - as having two different swamp portals and one becoming obsolete once all iron and other materials are sort of gone.

I prefer to have an outpost close to Yagluth in case I want to fight him a 2nd time. Mistlands outpost is build under the stairs to the Queen's lair, meaning it's there for the farming only. But does give quick access to the boss, in case I want to fight it.

Disadvantage, Mistlands base kinda has to be close to the coast, as traveling to that lair is a pain with that low visibility. Plains is a lot easier when it comes to that.

Glueing yourself to his butt is cheesing. Just like it us to use 40-ish 2star wolves (yup, did that), using frost arrows from a nearby Fulling village Archery tower while Yag isn't seeing you (yup, did that too) or to use an army of Lox' (didn't do that yet, but it'll be most likely similar to using wolves).

is the bloodstone really good for any weapon for casual play i understand you would use it against fader when bonemass runs out but isint lolite still better?

Bloodstone is an effect that you must know how to use in order to get its benefits.

So far slayer and ripper are the only ones worth having blood on because they're the most high-damaging weapons currently in the game

With the increased damage from hp it goes even further

Ripper is special because it's ranged, meaning that the lost hp has less relevance as you shouldn't get hit as often
