Shield + Lightning mace for me
I think imma craft a lightning spear so I can take advantage of its fast attack speed
crafting station upgrades
If you like parrying I wouldn't recommend wasting metal on the shield
But yea food and crafting station upgrades, then berserker axes are v good but whatever weapon skill you're speccing into you could go for. Best not to do spear tho
Man , i wish bloodstone gem have life steal effect in addition to increase damage per HP lost...
I can't even tell if that would be a nerf or a buff
Kinda both, but it would have to be finely balanced as to not make it overpowered since healing as a mechanic is very powerful
Life steal sounds like something I don't want in the game, and which would either be OP or useless depending on how its tuned
Feels dumb to put it on a weapon that requires low hp tho
There should be a way to stay low life with that sort of weapon.
Someone did a math , the bonus damage still weaker than the 2 other gems i think
Yea. I don't find it too hard to stay low hp by just tanking a hit now and then, or by chugging tasty meads, but it would be nice with a better method
I'll be going lighting berserker axes as backup for my mage build.
Nah blood has the highest DPS potential, although I would argue it's not that worth it. Blood can give over 60% extra damage, lightning (2nd highest damage potential gem) gives about 18-20% extra damage on the weapon its best for (lightning axes)
guys i just went to the mistlands
Congrats! Enjoy your stay
theres these tinanic horn soudning flying things, what is your advice
People diss on the green gem a lot but having enemy rooted in place is great CC plus not like you gonna fight ashland enemies all day long . My great sword use greem gem and the thrust is darn great when enemy got rooted.
Run, or equip a bow or spear
Fire barley wine may not be a bad choice, especially if you're wearing root chest
Fire resist can still be useful, but not needed
It's not exactly complicated. 10 flat lightning damage + 25% chance for a 75 damage proc = 28,5 bonus damage per hit on average.
Since most weapons do at least 100 base damage you'd need to lose ~100-150hp with a blood weapon to match that which shouldn't be an issue at all. And it's much less for slayer or ripper.
Definitely. I recommend getting under it though
UNDER IT?!?
Not a troll, trust
bro i aint going near that dangerous looking thing
Avoiding it is totally fine too
I would recommend not bother fighting it..i avoided those till i got arbalest
can i shoot it off cliffs
and is mistlands all water? how will i get my stuff back if i lose it 😩
Nah, but there's a good amount of water
So basically you can try and go long range and shoot it, but as it gets closer it's gonna shoot back and its gonna hurt
Or you can go close to it, under it (preferably towards the back of it under it) because it can't shoot you there. And shooting the underside of it does extra damage :)
The underbelly is it's weak spot, it can't target you with its fireballs if you are under it, it drops ticks though but they are one shot one kill things but do tons of damage if they latch on, roll or fireball your feet are the best ways to deal with them if they latch on.
Pewing it with a bow and kiting it to dvergr is the most "fun" way to deal with them for me, it gets rid of the gjall and it might destroy some part of the dvergr stuff that you can then pick up.
It will turn when you're under it to get a better shot at you though. Keep trying to be under its butt, if you get under its head it might get a shot at you, and that's death
Unless you time your dodge roll.
beat it but that was close, 0 stamina had to drink potion + it had minions which jumped me
Lightning axes are best - the potential for hitting multiple enemies is amazing
I honestly just don’t like the blood weapons
Gjalls still tick me off.
Never been a fan of having low hp
good1
such a mage thing to say
Methinks the Deep North will be what is essentially the nordic holy lands, and will have regular, not-fallen Valkyries
I know people don't like staff of fracturing much, but fully upgraded that thing is gonna be godamnn OP in Deep North mark my words
the Eggs are weak to pierce
Dont get UNDER, just shoot in the Orange things under him
ye thats why Eggs are made
one word answer: are there worse things than this flying housefly?
Brutal Slayer is overpowered when half life
If ashlands got like ||10 enemies variants|| imagine Deep North 👻
I can't imagine how much worse the Deep North would be, unless they started using siege weapons against me in addition to the Ashlands' endlessly spawning hordes
And I can only imagine how powerful the dverger there must be
Now I can only imagine how powerful graydwarves directly from yggdrasil roots must be, or ashwood graydwarves
Deep north could be a land of ghosts and spirit in contrast to ashlands being a land of physical/corporeal undead
THat is very true, since Niflheim is a land of the dead
Also, the war theme should remain in ashlands, having two consecutive biomes with the same theme seems repetitive.
Also, we have way too much fighting in ashlands, wouldn't like to repeat it in DN
That is legit the only blood weapon I would use
Indeed 😛
Then I can only hope the Deep North will be a breath of fresh (frigid) air
Either that or have some sort of gimmick that'll make us wish for the Ashlands' war theme
in counterpart ripper isnt any good with any gem variant
Not overpowered, but it's good yea
Slayer and Ripper are prob the only weapons I think you can effectively defend putting a blood enchantment on
Disagree , i give green gem to ripper , so extra poison damage to non undead and root enemy in place which give you extra time to load the bolt
I want it to be purely horror-themed and existential threat
It's not that hard to lose health 🤣
bc unlike the bow who can proc effects and got a fast draw, arbalest is kinda slow to DPS and its an overall first shot/engagement
Blood magic, fall damage, get hit by a mob, eat new food, etc.
Standing on a fire is one way.
Let yourself get hit and done
And then keep distance while hitting everything at range with increased damage
- most of enemies in ash got pierce resistance
Hell, even just tell your buddy to wail on you with a mace
And then get hit again during combo and die
That just makes the increased damage compensate it nicely
I've managed well with a nature ripper despite that resistance
Id think storm fang is the best ranged weapon atm
I agree it's not great against enemies resistant to it unless you're sneak attacking. But that's why you just don't use it in full-on combat against charred and morgen
But I should've made a nature fang instead and give blood to ripper
I'd agree. Bows are busted, and that lightning damage is sweet
and then your food bonus kick in , you recover enough HP to decrease damage output by huge margin
I think crossbow is underated in Ashlands though. Many people are complaining about being overwhelmed by enemies, but when I walk through with a crossbow I just spot enemies at distance and then oneshot enemies that are far apart with sneak attacks, or if they're grouped up I'll oneshot the most dangerous target which is a great start to combat
Nature fang seems very good, but i cant unsee the chain lightning damage cleaning up hordes of enemies
you gonna burn through arrow though , unless you have steady supply of renewable mat for arrow , the charred arrow is not renewable
Ashwood is really expensive
i prefer the carapace arrow / bolt , renewable and only 10 less pierce
i use frost arrows when in danger and needle arrow when just shooting for fun
Oh yeah, a shame ashwood is very finite
and the ashland biome is just too small in general :/
funny how the tree keep chopping themselves cus fire from the sky , should have been immune to fire to begin with
i dont think ashlands is small, but the resources are kinda very finite
like only 20 charred fortress per world
they are like what ? the south pole of the map . Meanwhile Mistland is just everywhere from north to south --
To me , the ashland take a very small portion of the map , probably Deep North will be too
id appreciate that biome division
Mid and early game biomes in the middle, late game biomes around and in the poles
looking at mist rn its such a very good introduction to the late game ngl
Mistlands fave biome
doesnt fit like the last biome, but its definitely one of the biomes ever created
what tips do you have for mistlands traversal
Try to craft the feather cape fast
I really don't know why it still impresses me to this day that we have a biome entirely made up of insects and bugs. But no biome composed only of animals (except meadows)
oh that sounds great
Oh wait , that mean you need to craft gault table or something , magic related --
good luck to me
In every biome i like to focus on the crafting tables and their upgrades
which mean trying to break the dwarf box
its over for me isnt it
But it's not. Dverger live there too.
No , just need to have....accident
i met a dverger on this mistlands
Fr, completely forgot
Galdr table, yes.
like baiting seeker to dverg camp
god knows what a seeker is
so far im struck to shock by a flying bug
bro found a gjall but not a seeker?
I prefer the camp where the dverg is excavating the giant bone , there always the box there
is a seeker more dangerous?
no at all, its like the biome minion
No
oh then chill
they do hit hard though
Nope, they are the basic mobs in the biome.
Gjall is too unique to say it, the biome got a brute besides him
Indeed, troll, abomination, stone golem, fuling berserker, gjall / seeker soldier, ...
and hares
Kinda but the seeker soldier is so slow that it isn't really a threat, lot's of life though, so more of an annoyance then anything.
Gjalls are the lox, Seekers are the fulings, but there's also a fuling berserker hidden in there
My first encounter with this "berserker hidden" was very chaotic
Friendly iron miner
For me the lox is something special, does only aggro when you are pretty close and won't attack you on sight.
Kinda like beefed up boars.
.... They do attack you on sight though
they have no chill
They have a very low agro range. Like they will be aware of you when you get nearby, but won't turn into active hunt mode unless you're 1m in front of their eyes
lox are cute, I've wanted one of them since I saw Halstein
I hope mounted combat will be added or maybe lox can carry a cart that would be cool
tames are only good to farm, but the riding is very secondary
sadly, i came here from ARK
Mounts are good for moving a lot of metal on land imo, and one of them is nice for crossing lava lakes
Explicitly discarded
you're not meant to face tank bosses
their attacks are generally pretty slow and visibly telegraphed
Not useless. He hits a lot harder without it.
But if you feel weak could always make upgraded iron armor. Really supposed to learn how to dodgeroll through his attacks though (and have poison resist to not get hurt too bad by his poison)
After bonemass is when the bosses start having a lot of damage
how about root armor
slightly better than troll. I don't feel like it's a big diff though
The root mask surprisingly gives less poison resist than a poison resist potion does
The root chestpiece is super good though (not against bonemass, but in general). Pierce resistance is great
build a tall tower, he wont reach you.
Several yea. Easiest is making stagbreaker or the Swamp 2 handed hammer (that one requires an elite draugr trophy) and then standing on top of the big skull in the middle and spamming left click. You'll hit him with the large range blunt damage, and he can't hit you (from what I hear)
Bosses only get significantly harder after bonemass though
yes there is, stand on top of the skull and get a sledge and there you go easy win
step 1.) clear and flatten the area around the skull, so you won't trip over roots or get stuck in the water.
step 2.) drink poison resist, equip an iron mace, summon him
step 3.) kill his added mobs immediately, stay away when he belches, dodge his normal attacks
step 4.) continue to pound away at the hit point sponge, making sure you don't run out of stamina
this is pretty much the quickest (and easiest imo) way to kill him. it still isn't particularly quick, as it's mostly just chipping away at an insanely large health pool that is constantly regenerating... but the fight isn't too hard as long as you can follow some basic steps
Cheese him by learning to fight it correctly, my boy bonemass about slow as in everything he does. So long as you've got poison resist and know how to roll through a big sludgy 1 arm hug you'll be fine.
Hi am currently bonemass fight i beat him before but am playing on hard difficulty i haven't fight him for a good while any tips to brat his green but
i just dislike everything about swamp etc i wanna be done with it and move on 😭 not proud of cheesing tho
I feel you on that 100%, my least favorite biome
Oh yh i hate the place
Maybe i could come help u with him
High number of enemies around, first biome to have real variance in enemies, the terrain is terrible, always wet, stamina managemenet is awful and it takes forever to make a little bit of progress (compared to other biomes)
yes to all of that 😭
and the enemies somehow are way more annoying than anything else ive encountered, and i dont mean challenge wise, just plain annoying
Yeah the blobs are experts at having a terrible hitbox (definitely has nothing to do with my aim, promise) leaches love to run on low health and wraiths can be some real ninjas
Draugr are chill though, can stand 5 feet in front of them and they still won't aggro onto me xD
If you get to close, you need to be much closer for them to attack you compared to other mobs.
ngl mace > axe
okay he dead, broskies whats the armor i should go into mountains with ? something warm ?
Mace is king
Mace for Bonemass is pretty much a must but that said last time I killed him was with an abyssal razor... I was relying on my friends to deal the real damage but they kept dying so I rolled around with the boney boy for about 10 minutes basically just tickling him 😄
Get frost resist mead and make the wolf fur cape as soon as you can.
so its mountain after swamp right ?
Yes.
If you parry a lot of people have issues figuring out the wolves attack.
If you parry and dodge the armor only matters when you screw up.
So if your good at both of those, you will do fine in troll.
Dodging = 0.5sec invulnerable
why parry/dodge when wasd legit gets you out of anything
hehe, fair good old Step Back
Yeah, if you do the roll. If you dodge by getting out of the way by running or jumping, invulnerability lasts longer.
For the moments you can't.
because of the stagger (not bosses sure) and possibly one-hit kill (for low HP mobs)
does wolf chest alone protecc from cold ?
yep
my comment was just a pedantic one 💀 very aware, was just being flippant
xD
Yeah, I quit using both because it made the game too easy and boring to me. So now I use only tower shields, and don't roll. ( I am NOT trying to tell people how to play, I am just saying how I play, and why.)
if all else fails, grab a big shield
As does the cape which is cheaper.
Cape needs what? 2 silver? Armor base is 20 silver.
I don't like big shield , the latest one push back the enemy too far and they can attack like usual .
You just keep moving forward after them. Sure, it takes longer, but I usually keep them off balance and have to hit them 3 or 4 times, but they die, and I do not.
And holding right mouse for the entire fight seems boring to me
Depends on the fight, but I usually only use the shield when I am fighting 3 or more. I can usually just move around and avoid being hit with 1 or two.
stick like 10 shields on a Lox every side, bubble and stomp away
4 for lvl 1 and a total of 16 for max cape.
Yeah, I just meant to make it and get a frost resistant item so you can stop using the mead.
Just 4 then, 6 wolf pelts and a wolf trophy.
So 4 is still far "cheaper" than the 20.
Exactly.
It is also a fine looking cloak.
You are George and together you play tricks?
"Well Fred, this village has 3 beserkers and at least 3 Shaman. Looks like one of the beserkers is starred too. This is going to suck."
buckler reigns supreme
the goold ol early day when tower shield could parry .
Thats before my time. I started playing about 40 days after release.
Damn this was my worst performance against moder yet
The majority of the fight I was wondering how the hell the attack hitbox clipped me
Was not satisfying having to keep a distance and pelt her with arrows because I couldn’t dodge or parry her attacks
My last one was the easiest. I put down campfires as my anti spawner, instead of work benches, and she went around destroying those instead of attacking me.
Keep practicing until you feel comfortable with dodging her up close 😄
Yeah she’s definitely my weakest fight out of the first 5, haven’t fought queen or fader yet
She's my favorite fight, but she's also the first boss that will wreck you with damage if she hits you
The Queen is the only one to kill me. That frikkin AoE attack of hers....
Going at it melee I presume?
I always parry Moder's attacks when she's grounded (just feels nicer than dodge rolling), and run when she breathes ice
with Moder, find a rune stone near by to use as cover
See I’d jump to the side when she’d ice breath but she managed to hit me most of the time somehow
Even with fenris armor
Which was annoying considering one of the few times I managed to dodge it I simply walked out the way, but running with increased speed I’d get hit
Her breathe hits an area, so it can be a challenge to not be in that area.
Visually it’d look like I didn’t get hit a lot of the time too
Or give her a giant middle finger by creating a terrain pillar
Yea I recommend using dodge against the breath. For her ice barrage you can outrun it easily with fenris tho
draw her to an old Rune stone and just hide behind it from breath, then come out and smack
repeat until dead. Rune stone is indestructible & aoe does not go through it
he will land near it at the other side and go round a rosey the rune
you can kill him with 1hp only no armor if you do it a few times
That is what I was wondering. She tends to land where it is least convenient, so eats up your stamina. Often even if your using the Eikthyr power.
exactly why u se a rune. No running required
you just pop out from behind it, smack 2-3 times, hide. He does his breath, claw bla bla
patroling wolves were more of a danger
I'll say when I go at her with 3hp foods I definitely feel the stamina struggle. Doable though with stamina potions, maybe tasty meads could be good too
ideal setup would be this close: #screenshots message
or be a gigachad and parry her ice breath
So far I have five extractors up and running
With the amount of mage food I'm scarfing down my throat, that's clearly not enough sap. I need MOAR
I need to mug MOAR dorf homes
Enlist the help of gjalls.
Sooo I put 2eggs chicken near fire in a building, eggs status changed to warm so ig they were hatching I come back after some time and find feathers instead alive chickens ,what went wrong?
Or my one refined eitr to let me break their component crates
Nah faster to just hit it with a sword or a fireball
which was the fire source
Bonfire
You didn't chicken proof your fire.
They will walk into the fire and kill themselves.
they probably walked into the fire. Make sure it's sectioned off
I hear hanging braziers are also a good fire source
Oh alr thanks
what was this 2mb patch today ? same some 2mb patch as yesterday ?
Fixing small things like the reversed building rotation thing.
They usually put their fixes in the patch notes channel. Sure it wasn't just Steam doing one of their mysterious fixes? Or is IG being slow about adding it to their channel here?
Could be but the inverted building rotation got fixed, so it might have been that, might have been something else.
I'm thinking the former though, small bug fixes that only solve one thing might just not need a note.
OK, they are probably just being slow about it. I'll check their main web page to see if its posted there. Or in Steam.
i saw a piece of a mountain area thru map but it looks like its highly likely a very small one, should i just look for a bigger one straight away
Yea, a small one won't have much useful stuff
Hopefully its at least good enough for wolf taming. Especially if it easy to get back to your base.
If it is high enough you might get some silver and obsidian out of it.
If it is small and not high you can still find wolves and onion seeds, maybe a cave and wolves to tame (2 star wolves only at night).
Pretty low mtns can have wolves.
Yeah that needed to be in the next sentence.
I think the area matters most, for spawning generation. IE the more area, the more likely a spot for wolves to spawn will occur.
so mountains are usually connected to blackforestS?
Mountains are usually in the middle of an island, and not out to the ocean. They can be connected to pretty much any biome though
Anyone try bringing tar blobs to Ashlands?
How would you even do that... and why
How is a good question. Still working on that. Sailing would probably be possible, but insanely difficult. I'm thinking catapult might be easier, but one wouldn't shoot it far enough I pressume so you'd need a system of them
Why: I was thinking to make Ashlands enemies weak to fire, to light them up with fracture staff. But upon further consideration I imagine that Ashlands enemies and growths are allied
Bringing a 2 star ice dvergr tho, that would be nice stuff
They'd just run into the lava lakes like the ashlands dvergr
so going towards the big tree will u reach big tree ?
No, it doesn't touch the world
if i make a troll cave into a lil base the trolls wont respawn here?
sadge cant
ffs still 0 mountains, but found mistlands
No, there's very little you can build in dungeons, deliberately.
and im supposed to dodge golem attacks ? q_q
I find it fun playing either solo OR with a group. I tend to prefer being solo where I can build and be creative without worrying about other's opinions or preferences, but its nice to group up and do bosses or hard zones together.
u can tweak settings so that its very little grind for a solo run
i was wondering the same thing and when i started i put the building cost off and upped the loot multipliers and i been having fun
i prefer to play solo but as Korodin said its fun both ways 🙂 and you dont have to worry about grinding too much since there are always world modifiers that can help you
oh ok ok thank you ill try the modifiers then
Is there anyone who wants to play? We are currently two players and will start for long term
Hello
Helo
Add me bro
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
Is a good place to ask around.
No but we can modded
Oh okay. I didn’t know sorry
No worries.
Or imprison it in your base or a little outpost for base defense / to let out to handle a single tough target
If you wanna fight them yea. Can also just run away from them, they slow
Also when are we getting a Valheim battlepass with fortnite skins?
Ugh.
.hgU
When it becomes free to play
||(Never)||
you might considering trying it out on normal first without any modifiers. Maybe you won't find it to grindy and if you do you can always turn them on later. But i would recommend give the game a chance on the mode it is meant to be played by default first.
I have never used modifiers to make it easier 😄 only to make it harder 😛 It is personal taste and you should do what makes you happy, but just try it on normal mode first?
From experience, I would not recommend playing with all the hardest and grindiest modifiers at the same time
It's fun for a bit, but gets boring quick
idk i already played for a lil bit and made a small house and it took soo much tree farming
i don't mind a challenge i just don't like grindy stuff too much
well... you do you 😄 no one is to say how you should play your game. I never found it to grindy in all the 2000h playing (and streaming it and makeing youtube videos for it) but well... I won't judge you if you wanted a more relaxed approach 😄
Hey. I am looking for players to play with. This is my first ever run and I have progressed to the Silver age (defeated bone mass). Solo play lacks stimulation for me and gets boring after a while. I would like for people to join my world or invite me to theirs if they too are at the Silver age. DM me if you are interested.
I will say, I've been enjoying 1.5x resource rate. Not much for teleporting metals though, and something like 3x resources feels like overkill
my boxes filled up so quickly and my inventory even more with 1.5x resource so i put it back to 1x LOL... i get so flooded with stuff if i make it higher 😄 but then i am the person to constantly pick up stuff as I go 😄
i haven't even dared touching that setting in fear of what you are describing 😅
I really love the world modifiers, but I also really like making my own challenges to give a more interesting experience
So, I've been practicing using a mage build in the mistlands. Haven't crafted a staff of frost yet, and a gjall just owned me.
Will I be able to take put gjall with the frost staff?
Definitely yea. But a bow or spear or crossbow would be faster, bc their egg area takes double damage from pierce
Frost staff will annhiliate seekers though, even more so if they decide to take a dip in the water that's all over mistlands before approaching you
K. I'll definitely make one.
It seems like the strength of a mage build is that they're versatile. You can easily switch damage types or use defensive staves
Was there an update today?
a wooden submarine
"I swear, I thought we had a spare extractor here somewhere"
Strength of mages is that they're way OP, especially in Mistlands
you know 🎵
I wish there was more locational damage
Give me something to aim for...I shoot at things eyes just for fun at this point but I'd love to do extra damage with a bow somehow
Yea I like that trolls and Gjall and Seeker Soldiers have weak spots
Greetings, is there a nice Valheim server (good fps) with some mods
I'm with you. It's an inconsistent mechanic; either everyone has weak points, or nobody does, and their respective kill-difficulty is balanced accordingly. Don't set me up to expect that nobody has weak spots, then provide conflicting evidence, then make the mechanic arbitrary.
I will never understand and will not be able to understand the mechanics of controlling pets, here you need to know higher mathematics, or guess on Tarot cards in which direction he will run, I tamed him for 3 days so that he would be killed in 5 minutes, because he does not want to listen to commands.
I have a question: is it worth taming this pet or not?
Up to preference. I personally never really tame animals. Most people tame them for their drops, some tame wolves or ||askvin|| for combat and ||traversal||
Wolves listen well to commands from what I hear. Mostly worth it with 2 stars
I'm guessing you're talking about wolves?
well you cant really command any other animal so... 😄
Asksvin
so what?
Do you guys usually do creative mode or gather the resources?
Oh ok. My world broke with the update, so I'm still working towards Ashlands in the new one.
Never done creative mode
does anyone else lag insanely bad in ashlands?
me and my duo are getting insane ping in ashlands when nothing else lags
he even died to a morgen even tho i parried
yes
A lot of people been complaining about performance in Ashlands yea
my fps also drops as low as 20 when its raining
how do i take a screenshot on pc?
or whatever it is with all the debris and wind
we made it better by changing the sendqueuesize values on both the server and clients
i have no idea what that means
I find I'm way more invested in my builds and world of I actually gathered the resources
google "Revisiting Fixing Valheim Lag" and go to jameschambers website he has a guide
same
ty
Imo it's almost entirely a waste of time to tame pretty much anything. They are all so fragile that they don't typically have much use in combat, require time to tame as well as time to build an enclosure for, and are mostly just annoying to deal with. The resources you obtain from them are also almost pointless as you could get more than you'd ever need from simple adventuring/farming.
The only things I'd say are worthwhile would be chickens.
In all of my actual playthroughs I've gathered my resources. More recently though I use increased resource drop rates because quite frankly I've cut hundreds of thousands of trees already and I don't feel I get any benefit from doing much more so the increased rates make it a little better.
For me the only time I've found tames really useful is when playing on 0.5 resources no portals no map hardcore very hard, because food was a big issue
i feel lacking with wolf armor chest and pants + troll hood and cape
any suggestions ?
Lacking for what/where?
^
I personally like drake helm because it gives a lot of armor but no movement penalty, and then fenris (mountain cave light armor) chest and legs. Could do all wolf armor and drake helmet if you want to be tanky though
ive been using feather cape while in ashlands is that why im getting clapped?
Nope
There really isn't a ton of enemies in the Ashlands that actually deal fire damage so the weakness to fire shouldn't be a huge issue. Additionally it's negated entirely by just drinking barley wine
That said I prefer the capes you unlock in the Ashlands to the feather cape there only because the terrain is mostly flat anyway so the effect of the feather cape isn't as useful.
Nah, feather cape good. Best for mage though. If you're going a melee ranger playstyle I'd prob do one of the ashlands capes
mountains
If you're rocking the silver armor you should already be overprepared for the mountains. If you'd fell better being tankier then I'd recommend upgrading from the troll hood to the drake helmet which you'll need drake trophies to unlock the recipe for.
Aside from that likely the issue you're having is just lack of experience against the enemies. You're tanky enough as is to just swang and bang on a group of wolves NP, drakes are hardly ever an issue so long as you can aim a bow, and golems just take a little bit of learning (and a mace preferably) to either dodge or parry their attacks.
I expected the very weak to fire in ashlands to be a bigger issue than it is... only valkyries are an issue and the extra jump and reduced jump stamina usage is super useful for morgens
i got wolf armor and troll
well yeah wolves like 3 shotted me, but i didnt have best foods on me
also what to do with obsidian ? i didnt get any recipes picking it up
Obsidian unlocks a crafting bench upgrade but is mostly used for arrows. Frost arrows are pretty much still the best arrows in the game.
Fire resistance barley makes the issue nonexistent too
Abyssal Spear to fish?
I wish
the harpoon is more for dragging mobs around, mostly tamed mobs because most of them dont have an option to follow you 🙂
Devs fix it
I mostly use it for untamed mobs 😅
Because although they follow me, they don't follow me to where I want them to go
Fishing Rod makes me want to delete myself
lucky for you fish aren't very useful
I like fish wraps
My last Plains base had an accidentally lucky location. Right by a coast with high waves, so I kept getting TONS of fish stranded on my lawn. Had like a wooden chest almost filled with raw fish. Don't think I ever had more than 1 or 2 stacks on other runs
And I never went fishing
Fishing is still pretty much the way it has always been in the Meadows, so you can still get plenty of fish, and with the different size ranges, you can get a heck of a lot once your skill and stamina foods are decent.
There is some seafood you can get with the harpoon
Serpents
I am yet to actually fish in the game even after buying fishing rod and bait on two seperate runs
It’s worth it at plains tier for the fish wraps tho I believe?
The different sizes actually make the fishing feel challenging.
I'm not a big fan of the plains foods, but yea fish rolls are pretty good while in plains. Outside of that I don't really see fishing as useful
You can make a fishing hat which is pretty fun
Because if your skill and stamina are not high enough, your not hauling that huge sized fish in.
There is the Angler fish food for Mistlands, but thats the only other food use for fish.
I do like getting quality 4-5 fish for the wall though
I watched a video of a build to use to take advantage of that kind of situation, to maximize how many you catch that way.
If I find a spot, I am going to do it, because I do not like spending all that time fishing. I would much rather be exploring, or building.
TIL that you can level up pickaxe skill by mining something "too hard"
Like using bronze pickaxe for silver vein
anything special or just some angled roofs?
Angled roofs going out as far as you can get them to go, in an area with good spawning.
founda frost cave 👀
Be careful. Tight quarters, just like all the other crypts/tombs.
Plus I believe that unlocks the bat event, for your bases.
Is it black metal or blackmetal? 🧐
I don't know what you're talking about man, it's just regular metal.
Regular metal atgeir my favourite weapon
Heavy metal 🎸
It looks green to me, so when playing with friends, I call it green metal.
got isntafucked 😭
I believe the green is the infusion of goblin blood in the metal
well, after i opened a door
Not surprised. You can run into pretty large mobs in those caves. Hint: AoE weapon.
That's what I was thinking was going to happen, and I considered saying something, but ultimately I decided to wait and see 🙂
Oh, and the fire wine. If you know, you know.
okay my gear might be gone.... theres now multiple werewolf type mf's and my gear is behind them.,......
2nd one I think
well, 90% of it is
time to grab your backup gear and go reclaim it
What is your next best set of gear?
If I can do troll or bronze on the plains, you got to have something decent enough for this situation.
I usually eat 3 stamina foods and run there with nothing
Might be rough depending on how far the portal is from the frost cave. Freezing is tough
hey everyone, I just finished the plains and have moved on to mistlands. boy its a jump, but the plains left me feeling like that biome was almost unfinished? such as the lack of an armor set made of black metal, or a bow for that section of the game. not sure if I missed something or if thats just how it is, but I was curious of other people's thoughts on the plains. felt underwhelmed
Did you get the padded armor?
I did, yes, I thought it was odd it used Iron
Plains would be better with a second armor set but it doesn’t need a bow and every other biome has one
Some people find Plains underwhelming for not having a dungeon or light armor, but I wouldn't say it's too bad. Also keep in mind gaps in progression (such as a missing bow) is normal
Mistlands feels very content rich though
Nah yeah, padded is the set for Plains. Black metal mainly used for weapons/tools
the mistlands is so intimidating compared to plains
I still get wrecked by 2 star fulings though haga
It is what it is. It served as a kind of place holder for a long time. So they might tweak it down the road, but so far it sounds like you got everything.
The point in which Valheim switches from being a survival adventure game to a survival horror game ;P
Thats... a good way to look at it.
My hope is that they go back through the game and fill in some gaps, not exactly necessary, but it would nice to have more gear to hunt for and displau
Mistlands is a bit overwhelming at first because its a new biome you're going into. The unknown is always scary, and getting used to listening instead of seeing takes some time.
Once you get used to it though it's really not that bad. I'd say swamp is worse
Now I actually find the Mistlands beautiful.
Root chest is pretty good in mistlands too. A lot of pierce enemies
the armor and huge skeletons are amazing
I completely agree. After getting the full 3 course meal that is Mistlands it makes the rest of the biomes feel lacking. I actually kind of want them to delay the Deep North update and focus on filling in the rest of the game to make the other biomes feel as full as Mistlands does.
But that's just me.
Very true. Plus most of them are resistant to all weapon damage types.
deep north? is there one more biome after ashlands?
You just said it, the north.
Yes, but it’s not released yet
wooooooo! tameable dragon pwease
Heh I'd doubt it. But not impossible, it just won't be rideable
If they could pull off a flying mount towards the end, that would be awesome.
Actually I hope they just don't add anymore tameable mobs in the deep north... I think it'd be a waste of developer time xD
I’d rather have tameable necks but that’s not happening
a flying mount as the final challenge would be awesome for filling out the map, scouting for build locations, etc
If the final boss drops neck food that would be perfect.
I know Smiffe said no flying mounts though
im starting to develop a lovehate relationship to this game
me and my friend have captured at least 3 2 star necks and we are devastated every time we logon to their corpses
Final boss is Corey Taylor
its painful, but some people enjoy pain >:)
Chains and whips may or may not excite me.
its diff kind of pain vs souls games 😭
Yeah, but Unity is improving, and they do upgrade to the newer versions. So maybe it will become doable. I'll keep hoping, anyways.
tbh I think valhiem is harder than dark souls, and thats coming from someone with a solaire tattoo
It’s doable but wouldn’t fit in valheim well. It would make most combat ignorable.
Oh, I highly doubt it's an engine issue
Finally made a canal on my plains continent
fuck this ima console spawn my wpns back
If its only obtainable at the end of the game play, whats it going to ruin?
i agree
Safe to say it needs to be wider and deeper, I lost 25% of my boat health going through it
nooooo, my favorite part of the game is naked running like a maniac back to my death
It would make the hardest biome the easiest one to avoid fighting in
yeah but i have no way to defend myself against multiple firespewing hard hitting opponents 😭
So no fire wine?
you should be pretty kitted out at the end of the game I would assume, combat would become somewhat trivial anyways
Honestly play how you want. If you feel the need to spawn your stuff back then go for it. But we're all going to judge you 😉
i feel it already 😭
Eh doesn't feel like that changes much. Like even at the end of the game I wouldn't want to be able to unlock a weapon that oneshots bosses from across the map, doesn't matter I've completed most the game already
Possibly but hopefully not
I really hope Deep North has some interesting challenges, I'm finding Ashlands lacking
to each their own, I like becoming super powerful at the end of a tough game, but I do get what you mean
are berzerker axes good ?
Yea, highest dps melee weapon in Ashlands
We already get super powerful. We just go to the "lower" biomes to see how much easier they now are. Destroying abominations and trolls in seconds, for example.
You can destroy abominations and trolls in seconds with silver weapons.
Abominations die fast with Ember 🙂
I like that the way you approach Mistlands and Ashlands feels different from the rest of the biomes in the game and I hope they continue that with making the Deep North actually feel different. Like rather than doing hordes of enemies (like Ashlands) I'd like to see fewer enemies but they are all like Morgen/Valk difficutly and the terrain might be tough to manage. Like fighting on ice that makes your character slide around and such, and other environmental issues you might have to look out for.
Using mistlands gear in Mistlands feels like you're using gear from 1-2 biomes ahead lmao
Bronze atgeir kills trolls fast
i just swing my staff once, and i run myself, that new thing you can summon is DAAANG.. yeah, tryied it inside my fortress.. RIP xD
The atgeirs scale differently, just like the big hammers do. So yeah, the bronze is pretty effective.
Should have a tooltip saying: Caution Advised
Word xD
I would love it so much if the OP weapons got balanced out, and upgrades got more consistent
Speaking of which, I finally have the elite trophy. So I can now make the iron sledge.
does anyone here wanna level weapons together
#1024264966712340510 is the channel for finding groups.
ngl at this point playing with others might ease my suffering
IT can. But there are often reckless players who get you in even worse trouble.
I'm typically not opposed to helping teach people the ways of being a Valheim legend but a mic is a must
Multiplayer does tend to be a lot easier (depending on the skill of your teamate compared to you)
Read the pins. Hopefully it will make it a bit easier with that info.
Huh, they didn't put the pins back up after the hack.
Most fun playing with a team with friendly fire on 😈
That would be confusing/overwhelming.
there would be no base left 👻
Its great for training up skills.
parrying kinda thing?
Combat skills. Fight each other. Level up all your weapons skills, block skill, whatever else I may not be thinking of.
i feel like i might have multiple playthroughs in my future... i dread the thought
didnt really think on that one 😛 then again, am mage in my crew.. 😛
I have 4,300 hours of play throughs, zero regrets. Tons of fun.
holy hell
am around 1000 now 😛
doesnt it get stale after that much ?
If you put friendly fire on and they don't, you get skills from hitting them and they don't take damage
i love elden but 4 playthrus is alrdy making the game stale
woow 😄 haha, you learn somthing new every day
No. The world is different enough every time, plus I mix it up between solo, 2,000+ hours with my wife, and at least a thousand hours with others.
Thnx ❤️
Hello, I installed the Valheim mods with Vortex, but the mods are not activated when I enter the game.
maaan i want a gamer wife as well, what a dream
There is a channel for that. #mods-issues
I'm at around 1,700 hours myself. I certainly cannot play it as aggressively as I used to without getting a little burnt on it these days x)
getting that best in slot
But what drives me the most is finding servers with random people and just helping new players and seeing how other more experienced players play. Also nice to see how everyone builds 😄
I just recently came back from a 15 month break myself.
I used to run servers as well.
Play on others.
Yeah I started the day the game officially launched and I did a few playthroughs then, came back for the Hearth And Home update and did a few more servers, then I did several more servers for Mistlands, and currently still hanging around for Ashlands
I like making challenges for myself, trying to invent unconventional ways of doing things, and doing some fun biome skipping to keep things interesting
It's crazy you can skip to mistlands and get weapons once you get meadows gear
My last 100 hours has been with my wife and I doing a new play through to get to the Ashlands. We have gotten to the Mistlands now.
After my Mistlands playthroughs were done I did about 1,300 hours of Sea of Thieves 🫠
Still have to beat Yag, but we have two of his altars, so whenever we decide we are "ready". Need to do some base prep for the new events.
Reminds me, not sure what happened but one of the servers I played on when we summoned Yag we got 2 of them. Only time I ever saw that happen and I still don't know why 😄 was a vanilla server I'm pretty sure
Can happen if you have two people clicking the summon button at the same time
Everyone I was playing with died and I had to Han Solo them bad boiz
You may have been on one of my servers. One of the players wanted to find out if we could summon 2 at the same time, so he put another 5 on and summoned him.
So yeah, you can summon multiples of him if you have the totems.
I already knew that you could do that with bosses because my wife and I accidentally summoned two Eikthyrs. Which was my fault, I did not catch that she had the trophies too, and I didn't say I had them too. 😄 😄 That was a long, fun, fight.
what i love the most with valheim, is the mood.. like the music, and the lights.. nothing like coming home from a long day, trow the kids to bed, and log on 😄
And then there's Scales who summons 8 queens to fight at the same time for the heck of it
I'm old, so I don't have to do the kids part anymore.
I absolutely love it when I build my first small wooden shack house and I get a thunderstorm. Just vibing in the shack while it rains is nice ❤️
explains the 4800 hours mate xD
Plus only my wife works. I was able o retire.
4,300, but yes, it does.
mb mb ^^ i bet if i count my days of WoW aswell, i would be way over soo 😛
I turned 30 today, I'm still a long ways away from freedom
Congrats man 🙂
how to know if i'm ready for the first boss ?
What does your gear and weapons look like?
Try, if you fail you're not ready if you succeed you're ready
(But yea we can advise if you tell us whatchu got)
i have level 3 flint spear level 2 small shield and full leather armor
You can win with that. Is combat easy for you?
havent encountered any tough animals yet so yeah
So no greydwarves?
Make the sacrifice at the Eikthyr altar and try it
Let me join so I can watch 😄
Only way to find out for sure if you are ready
they're very easy
You'll be fine, go for it!
You probably are, especially if your good at using your shield and rolling.
Make sure to let us know how it goes!
Though I prefer to watch.
They'll be fine and kicking troll butt in no time.
how can i let watch
I was kidding but you'd just have to open up your server so that I could join in
Or stream on discord
You can stream in the voice channels. If you see them.
It's Eikythr, it's not that crazy if you've fought him already.
ohh i don't have discord on my pc i only use pc for games and everything else my laptop
what items do i need to offer for the boss ?
demanding items before getting killed is kinda crazy
2 deer trophy I believe
it worked with 1
Check your inventory, see if you had more trophies
It apparently takes away from inventory in general and not just from the ones placed in hotbar
ikr 😂
I put two trophies in my hotbar while having five others in another inventory slot, when offering it consumed the ones in the inventory, not the ones in the hotbar
Seems like a glitch, tho not an important one
I'm awaiting the good news!
It has to take only from my hot bar, they are the only ones I ever take.
That was pretty quick!
1 heavy metal deer down! 😄
he looked very intimidating at first but i realized he weak
The next bosses are much stronger
theres more deer bosses ?
Oh no, just him 😄
You can summon bosses as often as you want. Plus have the needed items for doing it.
is it smart to leave my house behind and go far with raft ?
Lets just say when you die, you have to get back to where you died to recover your stuff.
your house will be fine, rafts however, are not meant for long distances
You have ran all over your island?
usually you can find them on the starting island
Then you have a lot to explore. IF you got a good seed your home island can have the first 5 biomes on it.
how many biomes are there in total
9, once finished. 8 right now.
oh ok
Ocean is one biome, and not a lot to it, but you still have to be careful.
Like a raft can sink very easily in the ocean, for reasons.
oh okay i wont go on sea until i have big boat then
The forest will give you what you need for the first boat.
Just be sure to always make nails, when its in your menu.
Rafts are emergency transport, just in case you need to cross a smaller gap because your world generated without all the resources you need at the initial island.
why is there one part of the sea already showing on the map when i haven't been that far
Probably when you spawned in on the bird
there's one weird grey circle on the map
skeletons are so scary one just attacked me he was stronger than the deer boss
When you first spawn in, a valkyrie flies you to the stones of power. If you skip the intro, you just spawn at the stones of power but still have a bit of map revealed from where you would have flown in from
ah yeah i skipped it
In some situations, the ocean can be very close to shore. I've seen a couple where it came right up to land. Then when your sailing, it will tell you that your in the plains, BF, or other areas, when your clearly still far out on water. Just an oddity of this game.
Which can sometimes be really cool oddities, such as a flame shooting up out of the water, and you hear the screams of the dying down below.
Ashlands are going to make me quit this game.
Just kills any enjoyment from the game, nothing like any other biome.
greyjoy brutes are so strong 😭
The new biome is the toughest during the first few weeks of release. Not only is it new to us, but they still tweak the power of the creatures.
I'm glad that it isn't. And I'm glad that it was a challenge, and I'm also glad that I have a strong desire to overcome tough obstacles 😄
i see some big ass troll or something
Big blue.
Those are husband material for sure
how strong are they
Stronger than brutes 🙂
yes
The real fun begins.
he's running after me how do i enable y eikthyr power
F
okay thank you im so scared
Good. Thats why its fun.
Good for you. I have a strong desire to have fun.
This ain't it.
Good luck on your next game!
how to get like iron gear or something im way too weak for black forest
Um, iron biome is even worse.
What gear do you have currently? Including your weapon
i have leather gear and flint spear
Have you upgraded those at all?
Is valheim like minecraft in the sense that if I stay out of deep north on my world, and away from it, it will spawn normally when the update is released?
lvl 3 on the spear.
yes level 3 spear and level 2 gear
Yes. Any you visit will not spawn within a certain distance.
So long as you have a shield and are eating appropriate food then you're pretty much set for beginning in the black forest
Yay, a fellow spear enthusiast
Join the guy who just said Ashlands isn't fun
Definitely hard to get used to.
is spear or axe better
the main reason i didnt like the moutins was because of the fact theres alot of steep land
Probably axe (because you'll want to carry an axe most of the time anyways)
spears for life
Spear is my goto for early game
IT varies. Clubs are going to be the most useful for a while.
and tower shields
mistlands is like that expect its MORE steep the flying enemy is MORE deadly and there is mist so i cant even see where im goin
Mistlands is where this game started going downhill.
The tryhards in here will just call you casual, or bad, or whatever they can think up as an excuse for anything other than the devs took an unprecidented turn towards causing players misery and frustration to extend gameplay without adding depth, and it gets WAY worse in the Ashlands.
But we're the problem.
Spear + buckler is my favorite combo though
But all are best against certain things.
how can i enable debugmode and noclip?
The game is designed around being punishing and increasingly difficult. If you dislike that then it's simply not the type of game for you.
if you ask me the bosses have been a slow decline
Eikthyr:Great
Eldar:Great
Bonemass:Great
moder... Meh
Yagluth Activly unfun
what am i supposed to be doing in the black forest ?
There is an explanation for that in the pins of the #valheim-help channel.
Get copper
Surtling cores
and tin
Man, those Dvergr dungeon structures make perfect little bases.
I like Yag but Moder has a lot of issues... Great in design poor in execution
Maybe I'm crazy but Yagluth is one of my favorite boss fights
there isnt
yag was very annoying for me because that attack spam gose crazy.
also me and my brother who i was playing with got raided by quite a few fuelings and blobs
there is, the console commands video.
How to enable console commands didn't cover it?
Nah, Yagluth still has my favorite visual design for a boss, as with all bosses the soundtrack is fire, and the fight is more or less on par with how engaging other boss fights in the game are.
i didnt even pay any focus to his st because i had to focus on not getting metor'd into oblivion
Yagluth was fine as far as bosses are concerned. Mine just happened to spawn near 3 tar pits, so that...complicated things
Ah yeah, I'd clear those out before starting the fight
i dont dislike moder i just thought she was like a 5/10 bossfight
Moder has a lot of issues with her general AI and pathing. She is broken more than functioning properly and it detracts from the fight I think
She glitched badly for a long time. She was much better this last time I fought her.
Had the most intense battle with Eikythr
#memes-and-clips message
yeah im just trying to find an infested mine rn so i can start getting magic going
Those mines can be absolutely wild sometimes, good fun 😄
so far not a fan of mistlands
I have to know, are the high density spawners what make the ashlands a constant warzone or will destroying them still leave it a warzone?
They can be hard to find, then have zero cores. At least the last time I played, over 15 months ago. Maybe they have adjusted the RNG since then.
Any good mounts mod that dont require to PAY to work on host PC server?
i killed the troll 🥳
I've destroyed every spawner within miles. Still having mobs randomly appearing behind me without a trace or warning and crit-dead.
And at night they climb out of the floor en-masse regardless.
I think it was a much needed change of pace for the game. It feels different from playing anything else up to that point, it is a nice jump in difficulty (until you get used to it then it's just as easy as everything else), and it has some of the best unlocks as far as gear goes (imo)
eh i run 2X resource's anyway
The number of enemies in Ashlands will always be higher than anywhere else but destroying any nearby spawners makes it MUCH more manageable
Anti spawning items don't work?
https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966 might be a better place to ask.
Not tested extensively, but spamming my base with campfires seemed to do nothing.
The ashlands mobs seem to have a rather large aggro range too compared to other biomes?
I'm uncertain but it does seem like they have a larger aggro radius
hello 🙂
someone need some help on there server?
can help out with alot of stuff, only completed up to mistlands, but my friends dont play anymore and our server was deleted few mounth ago and i dont want to start a new one.
best regards
Hmmmm.... maybe they want us to stay in those citadels? Use them as the basis of our homes there? I am only just getting into the Mistlands in my new play through, so have not made it there yet.
Any destructible environment is not a viable building spot in the ashlands in my experience thusfar.
Oh and you'll need to permanently feed a shield generator.
If you are looking to form a new server or join an existing one, try asking here: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
thx
The citadels he's talking about are indestructable to enemies
Well shit, that sounds about right
Yeah, those.
I heard you can even dig out under the central tower and it will float.
In my first playthrough of the Ashlands I did my base out in the water just off the shoreline. This was the best way I could find to effectively reduce the amount of enemy difficulties.
I believe this was patched
I hope not, I have ideas.
Can you use up your Summoned Troll? Because it was there and then it wasn't. So either I dropped it (somehow??) or it has a limited number of uses?
I believe all summons are on a timer.
I misread that.
I would ASSUME you have to resummon it like the skeletons, but I do not know.
The troll is terrifying honestly xD
||Are you talking about the troll, or the staff that summons it?||
Let me clarify (about the summoned troll) the icon to choose it in your inventory was there, I summoned it again and then the icon disappeared, indicating I no longer have it to summon
Oh, if they lost the item, thats odd.
The staff that summons it
Can't use it up no. Just a regular staff that you can use as many times as you want, just gotta repair it once in a while
A consumable staff? That would suck.
I know weapons have durability that you need to repair every so often or it becomes unusable, but it should stay in your inventory.
better be cheap as dirt or oneshot a boss if its one time use
The only other explanation is that I must have dropped it somehow. Is there any other way to drop an item besides choosing it from the inventory?
Ctrl+click will drop stuff.
Been years sine I heard of items just disappearing, but it has happened. I lost a whole frikkin iron set due to the glitch.
Time to re-trace your steps ;P
Items disappear for me all the time. When I'm drinking.
Sounds like it, Hope it doesn't despawn.
Then you know not to drink so much, so now its a choice.
There's no choice, only dealing with my drunken mistakes the next morning!
I know my limits, and stay within them. Its a choice. Besides, I am old, so can wake up in a situation I do not want to be in. If you know, you know.
I think I should do some work on early game build designs tonight. Want to upgrade my early hut game so I can flex on the next people I play in a server with
Building can be fun. I watched a video on a home set up I want to try.
Earlier today.
Kinda feeling like Ashlands is a magic or you die biome.
I need a lot more mats, though.
I likely have somewhere around 500-600 hours of building in this game so far but I like to try to push myself to upgrade my designs every now and again
A fair number of people have said magic makes it much easier.
Which sucks, because I do not want to use the magic.
Spend hundreds of hours accruing weapons and skillsets.
Here's a new update, those are pointless now. Kthxbai
I'll endure. Maybe I will finally decide parry and rolling is justified.
Okay I’ve officially reached the fun part of the plains
Give us magic melee weapons. Problem solved
I haven't used magic in the Ashlands yet, made it through with melee just fine. In-fact the people that I played with who did use magic ended up switching to melee because they kept dying while I steamrolling everything
It's definitely more fun with melee, and doable.
Wouldn’t you consider frostner, himminafl magic melee weapons?
with the elemental damage being the magic aspect
Yes, I don't understand that statement
No, because it doesn't shoot magic!
Good. I should have a similar experience. Like I have said, I do not parry or roll just to make the game hard for me.
I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not
what about frost arrows?
If it uses eitr = magic imo
if it shoots magic it’s not really a melee weapon anymore
That's just a cold stick
Melee weapons with magic that shoot projectiles are just staves 2
Or bows, crossbows, etc...
Parry one mob, get critted by the other 6.
Idk I'm pretty jaded right now, but I feel like block (which doesn't seem to register half the time in the ashlands) and parry just aren't as good as... running around instead.
I like the idea of a melee weapon class of eitr weapons which use eitr to deal stronger attacks but once you run out of eitr still have a weaker attack
Enchanting the frostner, himminafl, dyrnwyrm with refined eitr to make the weapons have a new attack that uses eitr upon swing or special attack
Mistlands was like that. Its not anymore. So they probably still need to do tweaks. Part of why we did a new play through, to give the devs time to do the tweaks.
I say let it be hard! Anyone who dislikes the difficulty of it can lower their settings 🙂
The counter to that, is if you want it to be harder, adjust the settings.
The default, though, should remain consistent.
Hard is fine. It also needs to be fun.
But it's already harder. The devs would have to put in work to make it easier for us to do that xD just leave it and allow people to adjust their own experience from here
I find the default balancing is in a good place atleast from meadows to plains I’ve not experienced enough mist or Ashland’s
The default should be difficult considering the nature of the biome and its placement in the overall progression of the game.
Ashlands is for sure tough, but that seems to be on purpose. It is designed to be like a war
Yeah and it makes sense with it being the penultimate biome
Yeah, there is a consistency to it. Maybe I just "feel" it more because I have over 4,000 hours of experience with it all.
Yeah which means you have a baseline level of skill regardless of armor and weapon progression
But even with that the game has plenty of opportunities for you to challenge yourself on new playthroughs
i wanna get magic (im in mist rn)
but god it takes so long to find a mine
There is that too. But trust me, I died a LOT when I first started. Now I rarely die. Twice so far this time, and both because I was stupid.
and also i need a rancid remains trophy for the dead raiser
not anymore! just 3 reg skele trophies now
THEY CHANGED THE CRAFT POOL FOR IT?
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Yeah it can be a bit tough to find them sometimes, I'll agree on that. Fortunately you have increased resource rates because often times I've found that I had to do quite a few to get everything I needed
These game discords always attract some tryhard sweat that thinks everyone should be on their level and stop whining or just quit the game.
Meanwhile, a significant proportion of most games playerbases, including dark Souls, just wants to have a good time.
That's my opinion.
lmao ye that happened a while ago
Is the rooted harnesk still worth using in mistlands?
Yes.
ye, helps out with seekers, ticks, broods, and the boss; just watch out for gjalls/carry a fire pot
A fair amount of pierce there.
Will a gjall 1-2 shot tho?
Only hurts with the Gjall, or however its spelled.
fire wine is your friend
Your idea of making the game easier detracts from my experience because I enjoy it being more challenging. So every time people whine and things get nerfed I lose.
So yeah, I'm going to get a little defensive about it xD
Not if your wearing only the chest piece.
the fire pain from Gjall's is outweighed by the protection from pierce massively.
the root harness fire weakness is the same whether you are wearing 1 piece or 3 pieces
and if you're in the mistlands, you're probably wearing the feather cape which has an even greater fire weakness than the root stuff does anyway
Not if its only the chest piece, and you should still use the wine anyways, just to be safe. Plus, if your out at night and run into a 2 star, you get what you get.
Yeah I main the harnesk in mistlands then keep the wines on me for whenever I hear gjall talking to me
I think people may have misunderstood my opinion.. that the extra fire damage taken is worth it for the extra pierce protection.
ohhh lmao
ye
Yeah, misunderstood.
Think your sentence is kinda backwards tho, pierce resistance outweighs being weak to fire would make more sense to me idk
Well, its cleared up now.
like to me that sentence says pierce res > fire weak
Fenris speed >
My run is 80+. I don't "feel" it. Fast is fast.
Ashlands stuff gets you zoomin and I love it
Can always be faster
I suppose, but I rather have armor for when I screw up.
You only feel your run speed when it's new, like putting a ask cape on for the first time with the wind at your back....that's speedy.
Or when you finish a playthrough with lvl 90 run then start over on a new character
I always feel like I am the Flash, I just doubt a slightly greater speed will really be noticable to me. I have seen them time it on you tube, it only makes like a second worth of difference over 100m.
I doubt I will perceive that.
What are all of the mist lands staffs and what are their crafting requirements?
Thats what the wiki is for.
Nope, Ashlands spawns are just broken.
Just had two Asks climb out of the ground behind me.
Man these all seem... pretty cheap
No idea. I won't look until I have gone there myself, and think I have it all figured out. Part of the fun for me.
Were you in your base?
man was kinda hoping the wiki would have like... food type category's
OK. I only expect safety in my base.
or around it depending on if you a 'build walls around it' kinda guy
It doesn't?
nvm im just an idiot
Try the food spreadsheet in the pin above. Scarlett always got it up to date ASAP before.
Mobs outside in Ashlands are definitely holding aggro/gaining aggro when in dungeons.
mage feels very good for support and combat
well.. like the only play style that CAN support
That magic bubble thing is sweet. Really liked it when it was cast when I played on servers.
i hope they add like
Definitely increased my survivability.
a healing staff with DN
or really any kind of new 'support' staff
I'd think healing from a staff would be a waste with all the meads.
yeah
still could use some more support staffs tho
i guess you could kinda count dead raiser as a support staff
I consider anything that helps you kill things as "support".
Those skellies were support, especially when they could summon more than one.
i mean the more
traditional support
sending in some skellie cannon fodder so your fellow viking can retreat and pop a healing mead safely
Is 3 still the max they can summon?
with all the upgrades you can summon 4 now, tho some stuff from ashlands is required 🙂
Definition of support prob also depends on what weapon you value most. Like in the mistlands with a buddy and you're ice staffing stuff? Ice staff is a main weapon
At your base with 20 ballistas and you're ice staffing a starred berserker to keep him still for the ballistas to annihilate him? Ice staff is a support staff
i will probaby get all 4 mist lands staffs
mainly because i play on 2X
Nice, they're all very good, 2 of them very OP
im gonna guess its protec and ice
Protecc and fire
he protecc he atak but most importantly he get oneshot by seeker soldier
Ice is very powerful too, but tbh all mistlands gear feels somewhat OP. Fire and protecc are the ones that are rly rly OP tho
Did they break flax? it's not harvestable?
Flax is fine
The look i give to the fueling before burning his house down with the fire staff :
Farmed a bunch yesterday, can't say if todays update ruined it
Mines fully grown, can't collect with E.. doesn't spawn resources when attacked
Try and log in and out and try again?
he IS called a FUELING
I really want to play around more with using tar and water to enable fire/ice staves
WAIT WAIT
THAT GIVES ME AN IDEA
T A R S T A F F
nope, still bugged.
Did. no drop
prehaps.... its not fully grown
when you hold your mouse over it dose it show an 'e to pick up' prompt?
So you can tar and feather your enemies?
yeah. imagne it would kinda act like the fire staff being AOE
Literally already said this.. No it does not show an E.
Yes, it's fully grown.
if it dose not show an E it ISNT fully grown
mabye give it like another 10 minutes
Mate. it was planted about 6 MONTHS ago, real time.
It's grown.
what did you plant
flax
is it wheat coloured or does it have flowers
Flowers. I. am. not. a. moron.
if it has flowers its not fully grown
if it has flowers. not grown
It has been planted. for. 6. months.
Ergo, it should be.
I swear. reading ain't this hard.
plants only grown with in game time'
Oh. My. God.
To quote the wiki "It takes between 4000s and 5000s (between 66m40s and 83m20s, or about 2.22-2.78 in-game days) for it to fully grow."
Keep in mind, the game has to be active.
If it's paused, the crops won't grow.
Do you have to be in the same area?
Yeah, you know what, you're right. I have 1000 hours in this game and haven't been logged in for 5000s.
I forgot seconds were longer than hours. My bad.
Jesus. Take. The. Wheel.
I wonder what's next for Magic. They have the 4 elemental damages covered, and I don't anticipate a staff that'll primarily do spirit damage.
So.... were you asking for help in figuring this out, or you just came here to vent?
Just trying to troubleshoot, sorry.
I came to ask if it was bugged.
Now I am being bugged.
Check around in public test or one of the bugs discussion channel.
You could try a different world seed and see if it has the same results or use cheats/devcommands to grow a new section of crop quickly.
It could be a bug much like the inverted build rotate issue.
first time i made the new boat, is there anything special about it? Apart from it being massive
it doesn't boil
boil?
somehow yes, boil
ashlands water HOT
oh lol
special bot = no hot
Hi I'm new, how are you guys doing I'm literally downloading this game right now
It doesn't like turning. In an area where turning is really important.
But yeah basically, it's just a specific boat to access the new biome. Then, it's kinda pointless.
well... it can't be worse than mistlands. I can finally see something again! Right...?
Ahah... ahahahahah
im doing great welcome to the game and server man
@shrewd fractal oh no 😦
Do you recommend playing solo gameplay first and then later on join a server for multiplayer gameplay?
Good to have you along for the viking ride👍. Just so you know, the ashlands update was huge and may make your system think it crashed while downloading it.
Mistlands is amazing
I'm playing on highest difficulty and my god what a journey it's been to get here. Can't ever parry ANYTHING cause it just oneshots me through my shield with the best armor available each time
i DO NOT agree
I'm playing on macbook seems fine now! 🙂
i like this thing called 'vision'
I will defend it with my dying breath.
ever heard of a wisplight?
and mistlands DOSENT really like that
oh boy i can see THREE feet infront of me instead of ZERO feet
Almost like you have other senses such as HEARING
Definitely solo first. It gives you an idea what the game is supposed to be like and you lean the basics much more than when you are in a group.
hah yeah :p, i honestly liked mistlands, but it gets annoying once you have to grind the soft tissue... finding those skulls is annoying if you can't see crap
Thank you so much, I hope I will like the game! I will come back later here for questions, thank you seems like a nice community! 🙂
Normally i upgrade my gear to max, but i just couldn't in mistlands cause you're always starved HARD on soft tissue
as a 2x player cant relate
2x?
2X resource rate
Ever had a G'jall poke its nasty head out of the mist and almost shit yourself?
uh yeah actually
What other biome can top that experience?
There are many chat channels here, so don't be afraid to look around and read the pinned messages for guidance along with the rules if you haven't already.
probably the ocean in early game or black forest in early game
Black Forest goated but how you came to Ocean is beyond my comprehension.
the brand new player on his raft after seeing a sea beast rip their boat and then them to shreds:
(Serpent)
Something i miss in this game is some more ocean content. Sailing is fun at the start, but becomes boring fast as nothing really happens at sea. The serpent looks cool, but it's super weak very quickly
^
Maybe some kraken thing that roots your boat in place and you have to fight it?
Getting attacked by a flock of seagulls? Who knows lol
And not common now that the way it spawns is different. Use to be like leviathans, always spawned.
Now it's only at night or storms.
If a mountain has a frost cave will it also have silver
It always has for me.
there's a height minimum for silver, I think there's also one for caves so if there's one there's probably the other as well
Im tryna figure out whether its better for me to haul a ship full of silver from my swamp mountain base or just try find silver near my plains base
checked two mountains and neither was very tall or had silver
I know if you see obsidian its not also high enough for silver. Its close, though.
Serpents have always spawned like that
hi do i have to follow like the little arrow beside the map?
No, thats wind direction.
Oh, how do i see what i do? I cant find the raven for quest anymore after i crafted the bat
I wanted to join a world and help out. i miss playing this game but have no frans
Explore and try figure the world out piece by piece, the raven will be back
have you made anything other than a bat?
Reference your journal, but the clues are rather vague for new people.
Ok, no i have been just walking for a while and picking up stuffs like woof, berries etc
Build your home, upgrade your work bench by killing and gathering, and so on.
You wanna make some kind of shelter to sleep in for when night comes
OH MY LORD zooming out of the map it looks so big big world!!!!! oh my god i dont know where to go lol
Ok, thank you what is that red triangle on the left corner beside my health?
Put a roof over your bench so you can actually use it for repairs and crafting.
Sausage time!
Hi guys I'm thinking about buying the game how is it?
Means you are rested
Iron Age is the hardest
I think meadows start is hardest
Draugurs give me nightmares
naket and afraid. getting ganged up on by necks, only to have a greyling come out of nowhere to finish you off.
I’m naked in the swamp
Its usually the boar that kill me, or the trees. 😄
I only had a bronze pick going in there
Boars have this uncanny ability to backstab you the moment you run out of sprint sta
Valheim. Where even your campfire can kill you.
That actually happened to me heading into swamp. I built a two story fob with a portal on the 2nd level and the small door. The door was right next to my chimney and when I closed it, it pushed me through the chimney and I fell down into the fire and died before I could figure out what had even happened.
I thought I had good ventilation. So I stepped away to get a drink. Came back and I was dead.
