and they work really well against ticks and seeker brood too
My goto for EZ moding Mistlands is Frostner. Slowed enemies are chill. <-<
Frostner does terrible dps though
frostner is decent, but it hits the ground so often.
That's more so something for making the enemies easier for less skilled players. Realistically I use the torch in Mistlands because otherwise it's too easy
in id:customize 🙂
Alright, I found a 2 star boar this playthrough so, fuck it, I'll tame it. Do I need 2 or just the one to be starred?
one is enough 😄 the other one can be non star
excellent
Two will guarantee starred offspring, one will just depend on RNG.
So offspring will be 1-2 stars?
it will be either 0 or 2 star
What’s good gang members
a head ache
arguably thats not good but thats going on rtn
Do carrots dissapear if the server's shutdown
like planted, on the ground, from chest?
either way they shouldnt, maybe the server rolled back for some reason?
planted
Do they expire then or will they stay in the ground forever? Maybe I'm not picking them in time
they should be there forever if you dont pick them up or something destroys them, did all of them disapear or did some remain? it could be the case that you planted them too close together, in that case they will die
All of them dissappeared
could be server roll back then, check if everything is on its place or if there is something else messed up/ net where you left it
Nah it didn't rollback, does something destroy them?
could be, not sure what tho, and the are would have to be loaded in (meaning someone was in vicinity) and you would most likely notice 🤔
It's just we'll plant carrots near the shore, leave them, then they dissappear???
how close to shore?
Hm, definitley nowhere I've seen the tide come up
i would try to test it some more, just try to plant few carrots and check it frequently, nothing else comes to my mind really 🤔
I think it was the tide since there was a small puddle next to the farm that kept rising, we raised the land so that should fix it
Is there a way to remove carrots if they're too close
That’s so real biscuit tea
unfortunately no
Only by destroying them
I'm currently in the Ashlands and even if I hate looking things up, I need to ask: How do you cultivate vineberries?
Best "fight to the death" so far. Valkyrie got a triple kill on us, spawned on temporary base, "they were bros" pops up, what a night...
There's a small chance that you will get a "vineberry seed" when harvesting vineberries off vines. Just rng, might take a while
Once gotten, you can plant them in most biomes near a wall and they will grow up the wall
Cheers. So I got bad RNG then
How many vineberries have you collected?
hey guys, can you advice some mode to make portals harder? like add a cooldown or something?
Personally I play with only allowing myself to put portals in bases. So I have to build a decent base with some comfort, repair stations, and a bit of storage before being able to put a portal there.
Stops me from spamming portals everywhere and carrying pocket portals
sorta bad rng. Think it's something like a 5% drop chance prob
yeah. that's what i want, but i need it in form of mod for our little servers because some of our friends like to abuse things, so we need to restrict it...
would dyrnwym or jade nidhogg be better
We already got one, buy Thunder Stone from Haldor
aye ashlands spawns are totally normal
im looking for an active factions server.
I would post a video, but I cant
Have they fixed the issue with fps dropping really hard around places where you have built a lot or did a good amount of terraforming?
That's the Obliterator
You can build it with a thunder stone from Haldor the merchant. It works as a trash can that gives you few coal
just fought yagluth for the first time
The terraforming issue was fixed back in 2021, but obviously large builds will still create lag eventually depending on systems involved and network connections.
Have a look through #1024264966712340510
Sweet thanks for the reply, guess it’s a good idea to separate some builds with portals
Okay, just made a pillar high enough to ||jump over the charred fortress wall||. And I picked a convenient spot where the ||skeletal ballistas can't shoot me, which was perfect for sniping their spawner||. Now I just need to destroy ||two of the catapults and get rid of as many charred inside as possible, and I can jump inside the fortress||
Alternate approach: jump in there and fight them
No way, I got mollywhopped just trying to blast the ballista to the right of me with frost. Now a bunch of those mobs are camping right at the wall I died at
I suppose I could try luring them to a different part of the fortress
At this rate I may need to trade the Queen's power for Eikthyrdeer's or Bonemass' power
What's the body slam attack on morgen? I know there's the roll, bite and the swipes.
They do it before the roll
is there still an issue with placing Stone portal on stone and marble and Grausten? i cant get it to work in the meadows?
If you're talking about the little slam right before the roll, that doesn't seem to be it. The wiki states that the body slam does 160 damage, which is the same as the swipes and the bite, but in game it does significantly less.
Is there a command/way to get your XYZ coords?
NVM Found it! Command is 'POS'
Is this big enough for my chickens?
#screenshots message
The hordes... there's never an end to them...
They just don't stop... AND the two fuling brothers are raiding, but that didn't help
Ok, Im newish to the game, me and my group(3 players) have entered the mistlands. I use knives(and maces) but am not too good at the game. I was told that ask armor is pretty good. We do not have any way to upgrade the armor yet. And I die to even fuelings and mosquitos at our main base in the plains. People are saying the armor is good but I have as much defence as 2 biomes back. When we get mobbed by a group of ashlands creatures all I can do is run around. Am I doing something wrong with the armor?
Eh, the armor is for a balanced playstyle. Decent armor, reduced stamina usage, and decent movement speed. I personally like it. I'd say light armors are more for experienced players though, if you find it hard to use you might be better off sticking to some heavy armor or mage playstyle
Are their mounts?
Managed to kill two ||ballistas||, but I spent so, so long in a repeated cycle of dying and retrieving my stuff (or dying from my failed attempts to get rid of the horde attacking me from the top of the fortress) that the components they dropped for the ||catapult|| disappeared
are whose mounts what?
Do mounts exists in valheim ?
The map is huge I need some kinda movement
Yes, you get the first true taxi in Ashlands. You can mount the ones in Plains but they are huge and pain in the ass to move
Is that end game ?
More or less.
Eat Stamina foods and make sure you get well rested buff. Your run speed will increase quickly as your skill levels up
Oh and most of the long distance movement is expected to be by sailing and you get boats that upgrade pretty fast for sailing
Uggh, ||valkyries|| are so faaaast
Not when dead
Now the valkyrie's guarding the tall terrain I created to jump into the fortress
I swear, with how arduous of a fight it is just dealing with the ballistas (which then leads to higher spawns in the fortress), I'd be surprised if I ever got my hands on the catapult component they drop
raids make the game so much less fun
love having everything broken by a troll
cant wait to fix it all for the next 2 hours
Phew, managed to kill the valkyrie
Now to try and jump into this fortress
Kill troll
one troll swing
You don't lose any materials when your base is destroyed so you should be able to get everything up again in 10mins? Anyway, you can turn it off from world settings if you want
its not that i lost the materials its that i now have to rebuild everything for no purpose
re organize every chest
You need to build your house with more mmhmf
Troll raids are pretty easily thwarted by moats and/or raised earth, which can be done with a pick for the former, and just a hoe for the latter
Most raids can be defended by the terrain in this manner. Flying enemies require some different strategies
Would you think you could be able to find more then the jotunar swords and shields and armor like could you find a axe in the dark forests or a spear in the oceans or a pickaxe in the mountains
Like if these creatures were able to make giant amounts of armor and weapons shouldnt you be able to find remnants of how they got it
...well goddammit, just learned that burying a workbench now destroys it
Seems like the only events anymore are Ashlands events. When we were doing beta testing I figured that was just part of the gig. Now I'm beginning to wonder....
...jeezus, this two star warlock is so insanely tanky
I should come back to this fortress with a bludgeon
True, but he's resistant to frost and very resistant to fire, so magic ain't an option for the Warlock
hes easy if you take out the spawners
magic is the way
you get in on his green fire and it hurts
Anyone know of a way to get rid of the annoying chime sound in the Chime sound in the|| ashlands shield||? It's seriously annoying. Like maybe someone know where the audio files are so i can just delete that sound or replace it with a blank sound file?
anyone know how to enable teleporting ores in the new update
how many minutes per level should i be getting while leveling up elemental skill on golem?
at level 35
I think that's enough valheim for today
I swear, the moment I'm targeted by a horde is the moment I'm already dead and it can't be escaped from
Oh, I already took out the spawners, only he is left inside that fortress, but he's so insanely tanky against frost, therefore I won't use frost or fire magic on him again
@vapid hearth i use my skeletons and any of the magic
I thought skeletons died to anything past the Mistlands. Distractions at best
You can bubble skeletons to give them way more health
Hmmm
if you upgrade the blood magic (skull) they do well, more tanky
how do you bubble them?
I should have tried that before I died to yet another charred horde on my way to the fortress
If I upgrade the skull summon? I see
I've yet to get the brain matter I need to craft more eitr
whats the most amount of skeletons that can be out at the same time
4
what’s your elemental skill at?
Staff of protection
more if you have teammates of course
my blood magic skill is only 7 😮💨
I think it's at 30-something
yea need to use it a lot to get up there
i managed to get around 3 and half minutes per level, im farming it now im at 43
i’m spamming frost staff on a golem while underneath shelter, next to a campfire, and without aggroing him 🙂
i’ve been using magic a lot so my skill levels were up there until i died so many times in the ashlands
There's, a nice trick that i like to do that let's you have more than 4, by just summoning the skeletons, running far away, summoning skeletons there again, and then running back with the new skeletons to where the older skeletons are. They don't despawn while you're away
i just got magic and a video recommended i upgrade all my mage armor and weapons to 4 and i get my blood and elemental skill to 40 😦 was hoping it wasn’t necessary
and they all keep following you around like you’re a diablo 2 necromancer?
Yep
would it help to get them caught in a pit before running away
and could you do this over and over
I believe so yes
so skeletons teleport with you?
ah damn i was gonna say maybe set up portals like 100m away and just summon, then step through, and summon again lol
However, the game will constantly show the message "your dead raiser is not strong enough to control more summons" if you do this trick
But it's that big of a deal
But yeah, if you want to roleplay a necromancer, this is how you can do it lol
Just level up your blood magic more, and you're almost unstoppable
so if you run away from your skeleton, then summon another one and get the warning, do you still get xp when your old skeleton hits stuff
Yep, it should give you XP
are there any enemies that the skeletons do like no dmg to
Well, it all depends on your blood magic level, i have almost maxed out blood magic, and these guys kill almost everything
But i believe the skeletons deal slash damage? And the archers pierce? So there are the damage resistance stuff that might affect things
so just build a pit in the swamp or black forest and let them go wild?
i tried leveling elemental with elder summons but that was a waste of time i cant believe i spent like 30 minutes setting that up lol
Well, yeah, but i don't think having a pit is necessary, i have had no problem doing the trick without having to trap the older skellys anywhere, but now that i think about, it might be better to do so
oh i meant like a pit under a pile of bones or the greydwarf summon thing so that they just keep falling into a pit with my skeletons and no need to chase them lol
Ohh yeah that's a good idea
if it turn on friendly fire can i gain xp for hitting them
But this is a really nice way to farm exp for blood magic, just do this, trap them in a pit with like a greydwarf spawner above, cast them a shield, and chill

how long does a baby lox take to grow up
if i leave a couple lox on a small island by themselves will they reproduce like rabbits
According to wiki, 1 hour and 40 minutes
only to a certain amount in a certain space and you have to be 64m near them for them to be active to do anything
you probably have to be near them i’m guessing since they get unloaded when you leave
yes
i noticed that’s why my portals don’t get destroyed when i make a sketchy getaway
plants grow no matter where you are, but breeding requires you be in proximity. Also, according to the valhiem fandom, you also don't want to sleep when you're feeding them or it just wastes food (if you care about wasting food.)
Morgen gjall.
They will continue to fight as long as they are actively fighting someone. If they're not and you portal out, they won't be there when you return
Sorry Exo but plants do not necessarily grow everywhere. Barley for example must be grown in the plains
Yeah I try to make a point of keeping the bad guys away from my portal. I will often build little (or not so little) huts around them. If bad guys don't see them, they don't make a point of attacking them
i think they might be saying that plants continue to grow up even if you are not in zone they are planted in 🙂 but you are correct that different crops need different environments of course
I don't remember the Plains fog being so bad
Ok, that one I didn't know. Thanks for the tip
Best biome for a farm is plains, since it can grow all crops from the previous biomes.
also mistland crops?
And a ||vineyard||
No, but you can find plains+Mistborders to grow everything
Looks like imma need to start killing dwarves to get their brain matter
what am i supposed to do after clearing a smouldering tomb or a sealed tower etc
You take the chest the boss drops and bring it to Hildr
is it worth
...ehhh, I don't know
in the span of about 2 hours i was able to get my elemental from 35-60 of just non stop spamming my attack on golem, how could anybody ever reach that level naturally? too grindy
i dont think so either, ill just keep them as trophies
It does come with raids where you get raided by 1 star skeletons or above, in addition to the boss
What's the update?
another 6 straight days of fog in the Plains
hate when i run directly into a lox that chases me into a tar pit
So.. 2 star fuling berserkers. Hard pass ya?
I just used magic all through Mistlands and Ashlands. Skill was about 40 when i went into Ashlands and 81 now (there's a lot of stuff to kill in Ashlands).
extra loot !
Tried switching to my frost staff to deal the finishing blow against an ask because I was out of stamina. Wondered why it wasn't triggering. Then I saw I still had my electromace equipped. Tried switching to it, was attacked and launched into a pit of lava where I died.
YASD in the Ashlands
grinding blood skill points the same way i grinded elemental isnt working as efficiently xD
maybe having them fight elder might be better
Find a greydwarf spawner, dig a big hole under it and a trench, make a small earthen wall the greydwarfs can't get over at the start of the trench, build a small platform your skeleton archers can stand on and summon some skeletons, killing any that aren't archers either by friendly fire or butcher knife.
Sit back and relax and let the archers do the grinding while you watch a movie.
ive got 3 sword skellies in there just beating up any who spawn
Also works but they can eventually be killed, the archers can keep on going like the Duracell bunny.
yeah thats a good idea i keep having to put the shield on them and its annoying lol
plus arrows probably dont hit as hard so they can get more hits in
Most things will get one shot though, maybe some 2 stars won't.
You can also dig a hole that goes a bit lower and put flooring on all the spaces you don't want the greydwarfs to spawn, so you force them to spawn in a relative small area.
Hey team, I"m currently doing ashlands stuff but in need of some more iron, is there any better methods than going back to the swamp?
Mistlands, destroying bridges, destroying ancient swords and ancients armor.
oh interesting, I didn't think they had iron in them
Bridges can be destroyed by setting a stonecutter nearby and breakign the stone, there will be iron cages in them that gives iron.
The swords and armor will give iron and copper scraps and can be mined with the pickaxe.
Some ancient pots also have a chance of dropping ingots, which include iron
hey everyone ! long wait for the Mac Install but now Steam cant sync the Cloud so its not possible to start the Game on a Mac Studio !? any help ? THX
I didn't say wherever the plants are, I said they grow no matter where he is, the context being the part about having to be proximal to animals for them to breed.
Just saying he doesn't have to be close to plants for them to grow, but he does have to be close to animals for them to breed.
leveling elemental feels worthless as the ashland enemies still take no damage lol
think it might be time to hang it up and play something else, my skill issue is too massive to handle 30 dudes at once like its a normal friday night
Once you hit lvl 70-80 you should be fine
But no, you should NOT be taking on 30 some enemies at once 😂
Not unless you have some blood magic summons backing you up
Then you can probably take ‘em
Hmmm, perhaps I could use a catapult to lob explosive payloads at the lavaiathan pillars if I feel like they're gonna submerge
Ember staff is one of the most useful weapons in ashlands, even after getting ashlands gear
Yup, with enough setup catapults are a good way to ensure you get all the flammetal on the pillar
anyone else experiencing an inverted rotation on building blocks after that 3 MB update on steam, mine was definitely switched
I thought the pillars would sink based on any type of damage and not specifically pickaxe?
They will. But if you have 10 catapult that break all the flammetal off in 20 seconds, that’s plenty of time before it sinks
Personally though I’d rather just go at it with queen power so I can one shot the flammetal veins
do many soloplayers play without building cost?
some do, but I doubt its many
I think a good amount will turn no build cost on when they build a big base, to not have to go farm endless amounts of stone/wood/||marble/tar||
pretty much. I farmed the marble for a giant castle once, i'm not doing it again.
think i went through nearly three BM chests of it and it still wasn't quite enough.
My biggest build got deleted a few days after finishing it 😔
Not that it was a mega build or anything, but I was proud of it
Also building a big base on 0.5x resources is just painful
Hey I just wanna express my massive gratitude toward the developers and company behind this game. Ark is a game I spent a lot of time in and recently they've been doing some seriously obvious and scummy practices that everyone complains but does nothing about. So thank you so much from the bottom of my heart to you all for geniounely giving a damn about this game. It feels like a passion project and something you guys want to be remembered for and I am so grateful you guys dont charge for every little additional content you give us and the game is so incredibly affordable with SO much to explore, build, and fight. Your company at this rate will be remembered as exalted game developers for decades to come I have no doubt. Never rush, take your time and you'll do exceedingly wonderful out there
i feel like i dont have enuff recipes unlocked idk
Aww man, something like that happened to me too. I spent like a week building a base, and then my world just bugged for some reason and i couldn't enter it anymore...
It was kinda annoying at the time, and i still have no idea what happened, but it is what it is
That does suck. Nothing like that has happened to me or my wife, I am happy to say.
Lucky you.
when building my cooking station is it better it to be fully covered in a sense ?
Let's hope that never will
I put a roof over it and its in the middle of my base.
I set it up so I can do full stacks of meat.
Only when I get the cauldron do I cook inside my home.
Does it matter?
Those of us with no need to build huge castles do just fine with the default settings.
I have done some pretty big builds, still gathered all the mats myself.
Using what weapons?
crap tons of fire mead potions, healing potions, stamina potions and frostner and a dream
Maybe he has glitched? I kill him with frostner every time.
no, its not that hes not taking damage, its that he heals + too much damage
is he healing because we are not fighting him at his spawner
He does have massive regen,
face tank his attacks and hide during the fireball. roll out of the way of the fire breath a bit and try to get behind him as often as stamina allows
All mobs regen. At the same rate. It's only really noticeable with bosses as their HP is so high.
the fireballs deal so much damage, he barely gets damaged by arrows, he hits a ton up close
I only notice Yags regen. Its never as noticable with the other bosses.
Only the cold arrows are really useful against Yag.
Melee is the fastest way to take him down.
To add to this, all mobs regen 100% of their hp every hour. But it's happening constantly so they're constantly regenning a little bit
Yeah I did 1 to 2 rotations of swings at him. Ran around the pillar. Waited for stamina then did it again. Danced around the stamina and health potions and 20-30 minutes later was able to beat him.
Make sure you have the best food you can get.
best window for melee on Yag is after the nova. The initial hit does a lot of damage so you want to dodge that, but you can tank the lingering fire damage no problem with fire resistance wine and get in some hits.
how do you get up close 😩
Solid idea with every boss. Serpent stew, Lox Pie and blood pudding is what I usually fight him with.
I usually wait for him to use the meteor attack, and go in afterwards, and then get out before he uses the nova attack
Hide around the finger pillars. He will come to you. If the next attack is the nova then run around the pillar when his arm goes up. Once you think thats done he should still be right there around the turn.
misthare supreme, salad, and meat platter for me
I don't go into the Mistlands much until after I beat Yag.
Sometimes I beat mistlands before Yag because I can't be bothered to go find him and 5 totems for him
I found the summon place for yag before I found a stone to tell me where it was. Got lucky.
I love wiping out villages, so spend a lot of time on the plains. So like I already found his altar and have plenty of totems.
villages are the devil
I've wiped out hundreds of villages. I wiped out every last one of them in my first world.
The was before Mistlands, so had plenty of time to do it.
Can chickens jump out of 1 by 1 windows?
I have never seen them do it.
Yeah me neither, im throught my second world and decided to use my first house as a chickenhouse now
it has 1 by 1 windows
They can clip through walls though if the chick is too close to a wall and grows up they might pop out of the wall.
All the animals can do that. When they give birth.
BTW, when your hunting hares, the bombs make it very easy to get them.
I like to toss grenades on them aka staff of embers.
This is when I am first going into Mistlands, so have no magic yet.
Yeah, to prevent that you can put some 45° roof pieces down, they can't clip trough that and can't get on them, they slide down if I'm not mistaken.
They do slide, when I make an indusstrial breeder. Which I only do when I am playing with more people than just my wife.
I just slap down some corewood spikes around my mistland farm and a bit of fencing to lead them into those. Pretty much always gets me a few kills whenever i go there to harvest & replant.
Otherwise I just breed them on the ground in separated pairs. So that is when I see the "clipping" through the walls.
Like I said, I use the bombs the most when I am first going into the Mistlands, and getting as much of the mats as I can in as little time as possible.
Less time means less chances of dying, and I hate dying.
Like I have only died twice so far in this play through.
Both due to my own stupidity.
I have yet to be killed by a creature.
Think most people do that. Bc the vegvisirs are pretty rare and his altar is big against a flat biome so ez to spot
Yeah, most of the time I spot it while sailing.
is troll armor 3 enuff for swamp ?
I was walking around the perimeter of the moder mountain and I spotted the Yagluth hand in the plains next to it.
The plains are to tiny to find all totems though but at least we have a Yagluth summoning spot.
Troll armor was (good enough for swamp)for me(on normal difficulty) , had to have a bronze shield and be mindful of my low hp.
Villages can have several totems. Towers often have 1 as well.
I doubt we will find more than one village or towers in that plains.
It does depend on size, and being wide. Much like crypts in the swamps.
plenty
One thing I have yet to find in this world is one of those stone rings with the beserkers in them. Among my favorite fights to have.
Parrying 2 star berserkers and then annihilating them is one of my favorite things in the world
Fighting fulings is just so satisfying. Can use whatever damage type you like, and they look like they need a beating
I don't use parry. Or dodge roll. Makes the game to easy for me.
the laugh is asking for it
Mweheheheheheee is a frequent reaction I have when dealing with fulings.
That is annoying. 😄 😄
fair. I don't use bow/atgeir/fireballs/bombs/earthwalls/portal-spam for same reason
I use the bow. I usually get that skill to 100 by now. But its not even 70 this time.
I only find the bombs useful against fulings, and not very often.
I use far more bombs killing hares.
it dont matter what weap i use, i still die
I hear bombs are very good for cheesing dungeons
I use stagbreaker then the hammer. Cheesy enough for me.
Isn't spamming bow a lot easier than parrying/dodging? That thing does mad DPS at a safe range with high skill level
I'm lactose intolerant so I have a hard time with any type of cheese
Its a lot safer. But a Tower Shield is pretty safe too.
for totems in plains.. always check the solo stone buildings. Half of them usually have one
The towers, that flatter rectangular thing, I have never found one at.
I found 3 totems from 4 small buildings
the rectangular ones, on my current playthrought
Yeah, I would say half the time your going to find one in a tower.
Chests have been rare so far in this world. Maybe 2 so far.
I found 1/4
Its definitely been less often than totems so far.
also I have found only 3 big swamps, im out of iron even thought Im at mistlands already
my current world is weird really.. more mistlands than usual
Fortunately Mistlands can give you a decent amount of iron.
I'm low on iron too, but I have also only cleaned out 9 crypts.
I havent been to ashlands yet, but I swear im losing it if its as hard to roam as mistlands
The newest biome is always the hardest.
I mean the ground, is it flat or alot of mountain like?
do you have to sprint constantly
I think its mostly flat.
Well, going into a new biome is always going to be hard because you don't know what to expect, but I wouldn't say biomes ramp up in difficulty as you go on
Imo swamp and Ashlands are the hardest biomes. Mistlands I personally find pretty easy but I know a lot of people struggle with the vision impairments
I hate seeker soldies W/o carapace armor, especially star ones
Yeah, I'm old, so already have too much vision impairment, so the mists and darkness seriously annoy me.
I usually go for a mix of heavy helmet, root chest, and fenris legs in mistlands. V good combo
I gotta say though mistlands sound cues are on point. Only thing that allows me to do mistlands without a wisplight (I don't feel like wisplight changes the visibility all that much for gameplay reasons, more just a QoL thing)
The mists vary in density, but some places stay in heavy mists.
Im currently building a blacksmiths house for eitr refinery, then heading back to swamp for root armor.. because I want to have all full sets
the wolf one especially
lol nice, it works on Mac.
The root harness is really good because of the pierce resistance. Makes the squittos far less annoying. If you use the Serpent shield, they do no damage.
The two resistances stack.
Im really low on resources rn i have been kind of speedrunning my world as soon as ashlands dropped lol
I can't stand towershields
me neither, not as viking like
Yeah, most people won't use Tower Shields.
Surprisingly for a Snail, I love movement. And slugging around something like a towershield, battleaxe, or full heavy armor just feels ugh
😂 😂
Resistances shouldn't stack, they are supposed to use the one that is highest.
I made my choices because back then, it was the only way to adjust game difficulty.
yet they do
Those two stack, even the wiki says so.
I know but they shouldn't, so it might get changed in the future or it might stay as is.
So do the zero damage hits.
I agree it is OP, but getting the serpent scales can be a bit of a pain, and a bit of luck.
Fortunately I explore a lot, so get plenty of opportunities.
Tons of Serpent Stew too. Which is crazy good food for HP.
serpent stew is so OP. I love it.
Well I think it makes sense. Something like root harnesk and bonemass won't stack because they're both providing your body pierce resistance, but shields have a seperate damage calculation from your body, so the damage first hits the shield, gets reduced, and then it hits your body, and gets reduced
Best food for HP until Mistlands, so the sooner you get it, the more OP it feels.
I be running around swamp crypts at 230hp bc of how OP serpent meat is. Crazy having mistlands tier food in swamp
should i be building a base in the swamp, i might do with just a portal tho
Most people don't. Portals are usually enough
it was ridiculous before they made it require an iron grill.
Its much more convenient to build s smelting base in the swamp, but portals do help a lot.
I killed a serpent but unfortunately didn't get the hides
swamp is always so close to ocean though that I just put up chests near the coast and sail around to get all my iron.
If you do a quick Ashlands trip you could probably push 300hp in swamp
I've never built in swamp.
I always set up a meadows base right next to a crypt infested swamp and a tall mountain. Bonus points if there's a plains nearby.
Takes some time to find a good spot, but once you do: basically no transport time
yeah.
Yeah, it is nicer of you find a location like that.
True, it wouldn't be weird if they keep it as is.
I had a small hut and smelters right in area like that
I do it every run. And then eventually make a plains base near Mistlands and not too far from Ashlands
I actually prefer sailing my iron and silver back to my base, since it gives me an overnight trip to find serpents. 😉
Unfortunately I did not find a good mtn until later. This time.
wtf the swamp area is small as shit q_q
I (unknowingly) managed to set up my plains base near Moder, a sealed tower, and the Queen.
That can happen, just like the first 5 mtns I found were tiny in this world.
of course, the game seems to know this stuff, so I had to sail halfway to the edge of the map to find Yag.
So far all the bosses have been close to spawn, including Yag. Comparatively speaking. I've played on a lot of worlds.
ngl not a huge fan of the swamp
sadge.. do mountains come after swamp ? then plains ?
Yeah, it was my most hated for a long time.
Yes. That is the order your "supposed" to follow.
wish i could just skip swamp tbh 😭
i rly wanna find that world tree area i saw on some guide
Stagbreaker makes the crypts much easier, btw. The swamp you just need to get used to running around in.
There's ways to cheese practically the entire game if you don't like its mechanics
Well, the hammers are the games mechanics, so...
No more cheesy than parrying or dodge roll.
Doesn't feel intentional to me that you can hit enemies through solid walls
Thats how AoE works. In this game anyways. Its always been weird.
It technically is.
Literally everything that deals aoe hits through walls, either from player or enemies
Try a different one.
It's more like either game limitations or unity things
Or they simply don't want to do something about it.
I just consider it like a magical effect.
Doesn't make sense? Definitely magic.
Both hammers require heads. One is deer, the next is a draugr elite.
so much fun getting gangbanged the second u put ur foot down from a boat
ah yes, did you like that?
i need my clubskills way higher
The swamp is notorious for ruining your day if you land by boat. Especially if you also do it at night.
pump them numbers up, because after you are mainly set in Ashlands, skill is back to what it is today
I think my wife and I are kind of lucky with Mistlands this time. Found 3 small pockets surrounded by Black forests and mtn, on the same island. Weirdest set up I have seen.
v rising is way more forgiving than this game i gotta admit
Given the damage they can dish out through solid walls, I don't have any qualms about doing the same
Is that a good or bad thing?
hmm, I very rarely have that occur
honestly? kinda both
i love me a challenge but i also hate tediousness, so its a bit of a win/lose sitch for me
The resource grind in this game is my only big complaint. It often gets to the level of hate for silver.
Have you ever had a troll, abomination, seeker soldier, gjall, Valkyrie, or Morgen near a base structure? Or any boss?
Does not matter how many and how thick the walls, their AOE will go right through it all. Especially annoying when they can wipe out a workbench and stone cutter through a stone wall. Or worse, your portal
Yeah, made that mistake with Yag. Fun running around trying to rebuild your bench and portal with him hot on your tail.
also, i dont think the best way of inducing difficulty is putting u in a situation where ur technically supposed to be but dont have the tools to deal with it possibly, thats pretty much my only real complaint about the game tbh
i do enjoy the game a lot too
When does that happen?
Its released. Weeks ago.
It's released. Go play!
just now
Do you have a time machine?
wait for real its out?
Look at news, or Steam, literally out for weeks
omg im so late
wait wait u got me hyped
Pretty much a month, yeah.
but then again, solo runs are probs way more punishing than coop
The grind certainly is. Otherwise, I prefer solo.
Aside from playing this with my wife.
I haven't experienced that in the game yet, and I have several hundreds of hours in it
It's very possible to walk into areas you're not supposed to be though
pretty much lol. The game doesn't put you in situations, that's all you.
The game scales, so it's not that different.
i mean progression wise i feel like im supposed to be in the swamps ? idk if i could get there by land sensibly and i got instafucked daytime setting foot from boat
Having more people is a lot more powerful than enemies being scaled up a tad though
could be just be, im new to the game
You can turn up the resource drops if you find it too grindy to harvest everything.
swamp is a big difficulty jump compared to meadows and BF
and going by boat is brutal on top of that
once you get used to it and possibly craft some gear it's fine though
Game is punishing when you're new, but you should have all the tools you need to succeed if you follow regular progression. Just all up to getting familiar with the game and your skill level
Can always change settings (difficulty, death penalty, etc.) if you don't like what it's currently at
Honestly, you can skip spending a lot of time in the swamp by getting an iron pickaxe and turnips and then heading to the mountains. You don't need the Bonemass item to find silver, it just makes it easier
Swamp gets way simpler if you come back with a bit of mountain gear
imo Swamp is the hardest biome, at least if not including Ashlands which I'm still getting familar with
If you already have trouble in the swamp going to the mountains in bronze gear seems like it might not be the best idea
honestly i might tweak up difficutly higher if dying wouldnt come with as high of a cost, thats not rly the issue for me-
but traveling a fucklong to this area suxxx 😭
also am not the best in preparing for all kinds of shenannigans
Wolves can be overwhelming at first but they're manageable.
The trick with every biome is to realize that you do not have to engage in any fight head on. You have the gift of critical thinking, enemies do not. They also can't jump. Exploiting terrain is 100% a good idea.
Also, always bring a portal and setup before exploring anywhere new far from your base. Priority 1.
Definitely have portals set up so you can quickly return to where you die
There's 2 things you can use to be successful in Valheim:
- Preparation
- Immense skill
Both is preferred, but you should do alright if you have 1 of them. Without them it can be a bad time
I still haven't figured out the parry timing for the blasted Charred Warriors, but I have mostly learned to work around them and get height advantage
After 4,300 hours I think I have both now.
Preparation is 90% of the key with Valheim. It's something the game drills into you pretty much from day one.
That and using the mechanics and resources the game gives you. I've seen so many people struggle and then find out they're not using meads or old foods.
how do you fix inverted scroll rotate on builds
Wait for a patch, I think.
Nice. I have both if the stakes are high, but when I'm not playing on permadeath or hardcore or something I tend to skimp on preparation at times
Absolutely love biome skipping though
Sounds like you and my wife would get along. She was dragging me into the plains and mtns with troll armor.
I see, is that what led to the divorce?
I've always considered silver to be one of the more chill metals to get o:
Silver and black metal are so easy compared to some of the other ores.
Yeah, I'd rather get silver before copper, iron, or black metal even. Though I've come up with some pretty good methods to organizing my black metal runs as well
prob. Although that seems unproductive, not much useful stuff in Plains pre-moder.
One of these days I want to try and do a BF --> Mistlands skip for carapace spear or Krom or something
missing one
I think I rate flametal high now because it's still new and fresh but I imagine once I've farmed thousands of it I'll like it less xD
Well 2, but only one important one
Ancient Metal > Black Metal > Silver... rest are boring
Only counting ones you get from the world.
Bronze is crafted (won't count the fact that you can get tons from fortresses)
Why ancient metal?
Pirate metal!
looks dope
My tier list is based on coolness as in easy to gather + amount you get
Ah, coolness can mean a lot of things. Thought you meant coolest look
Oh, I see the confusion
50FPS+ Balanced Preset, not much in the screen
MBA M3 8GB
https://ibb.co/Xscb5kT
In that case I agree except switch copper and iron
It can be, but it tends to be the one I have to do the most running for, because its heavier than iron.
Copper is easier to gather and involves going to a less annoying biome
Also it's highly plentiful while iron mainly involves RNG
Yeet that silver down a mountain in a cart.
Even a small bf can have at least three copper veins
I just get very bored mining copper and it takes a while. I like just slamming down a few scrap piles in a crypt and grabbing some stacks of iron from chests
Silver is definitely top of the list for cool. Till deep north maybe
I'm excited for getting to the Ashlands on this run. I'm gonna do no portals in Ashlands, which means it's gonna be ||catapult slingshotting time||
I do, when I have a mtn with a steep side.
Black metal is by far the easiest it is delivered right onto your door.
FMD instead of UPS.
I love how Moder mines silver during the fight with her. Last fight I got 10+ silver from buried deposits
I had them attack me in the Meadows almost right away this time. I made my lvl 3 tower shield right after.
That's if you get iron from chests...
And also if the swamps has crypts at all.
Even medium-sized swamps could not have any crypts, while even a small bf has at least several copper veins
The cost of iron in general doesn't help, but that's a whole other factor
I agree getting a bit of copper is prob faster than a bit of iron. But it's a lot more satisfying for me exploring for a nice swamp and looting it. I usually get tons of iron from chests
Swamp crypts are the main reason people start using the map helper thing lol. Spending the day finding 2-3 swamps with none in them is less than fun
Most chests haven't had iron for me. We did well to get 60 iron out of the crypts.
I do feel to get the same amount of bronze it takes longer than getting iron, once you find a swamp that has a few crypts.
5-6 crypts usually give you plenty of iron to last till mistlands.
They will also take less time to clear than mining 3 copper nodes.
At least that is how it feels to me.
I think we took about 2 games days, mining through at least 1 night, to get all of the copper mined.
Plus we keep all the stone, since we know we will need it once we get a stone cutter.
So many stone and wood we are using, it is quite insane.
This just happened in a coop server, we explored several medium-sized swamps and didn't find any single crypt...
And when we did find one it was blocked by an indestructible tree root.
Fuck it, we cheated the iron in
We use most of the wood for our arrows. We usually do minimal building.
Only enough for longship and some stonecutters, which were the main objective
They should make those roots not spawn close to crypts
We've lost the most ships this play through. Despite having them by a bench, and making sure nothing was near by. One was a long boat. Which angered me the most, of course.
idk, I usually am able to spot crypts pretty quick sailing by. Doesn't take long to find a swamp with more crypts than I'll ever need.
Plus finding crypts is just one purpose of the journey, also trying to get my hands on serpents, leviathans, Haldor, Hildr, and a good base location (I live in a tiny shack until I get out sailing to find a good base location)
I do the shack thing when I play solo.
I've only done any major building when I have played on servers. My wife and I are very minimalist on our own.
So I know how to make beautiful homes, etc... its just not worth it to me on my own.
Is it worth buying and hauling that metal thing from Hilda?
Have the devs ever commented on making other crops like barley/flax, where you can harvest it by damaging it? Just wondering if there was a reason for limiting that behavior to just barley/flax
Looks nice but not really worth it if it is a long trip.
probably because it only makes sense with barley and flax. That's the type of crops you can use a scythe to harvest, so it makes sense there's a gameplay mechanic for being able to hit or atgeir spin to harvest them. Using a scythe on an onion seems excessive and harmful to the onion though
The barber set up is cute. I never feel a need to change my looks, but some people do some serious role play, so I imagine they are happy about that. Nice to have it as an option for 2 comfort levels.
is farming crops etc how necessary ?
Very, if you want good foods and to die a lot less.
They usually give you the best stamina foods.
oh
As necessary as having a weapon in combat.
well, i dont think i have anything unlocked for farming tho
you need to build a cultivator
And some seeds.
how do i get a cultivator, all i got is some ancient seeds 😭
Especially early on, Carrot soup, Turnip stew, then Onion soup.
build cultivator at forge using bronze
Bronze unlocks it, I think. Maybe core wood. Carrot seeds are the white flowers in the BF, and are not always easy to find.
well i have bronze but no cultivator available, in forge nor in build tab
Corewood
no wait yes i do lmao
The yellow flowers in the swamp are a lot harder to find, because there is so much water.
Plant them 1 meter apart from each other.
Trees need more distance, with oak needing the most of them all.
IIRC Oak needs 6 meters. Plus no rocks.
No rocks applies to all farming.
The ones you pick up are fine, though.
was it pine trees that gave corewood?
Yes.
very based
Or those lean to camps in the meadows.
Much like the ship wrecks can give you fine wood earlier.
Anyone else like using tar and water to amplify elemental magic?
Oh, nice, the Mac users can buy into Valheim at 50% off. Thats nice of Irongate.
those 5 people are going to be so happy
Yeah, I don't know many mac users either. Many more iphone users.
dead again in mystlands
an army of tickes withind 2 stars
more than 10 skill points lost again, ok i think I can start to search for help online
not doeable for me this alone, I was rested and I hade more than 120 hp
Biggest rule of all, do not go out at night.
I was inside a dungeon
120hp isn't much in mistlands
now how i recover my skill point? how?
I'd say aim for around 200. 2 mistlands hp foods 1 stamina.
Unless going mage
has anyone else noticed with the new update that the game minimizes when switching windows?
Ah, that makes more sense. The dungeons can be nasty.
Keep playing to get them back
Can go to a greydward or draugr spawner or something if you really want to grind some skills
Use the AoE weapons, like the sledge, in dungeons.
it took hours to increase those
ye, so then it takes hours to get them back
then I can start to think to leave this game
Skills aren't crucial though. Gear and food is the most important thing
you can cheese your weapons skills by slaughtering your tames with them.
cause I am having enough
i think a lot of people hover in the 50's or so for skills if they're still progressing, wouldn't worry too much about that end
Or just not worry about it, they don't matter that much really.
Spawners help you get them back faster, because you fight pretty much constantly.
If you're desperate for getting your skill back you are able to enable cheats (devcommands) and give yourself skills
And you can lower the death penalty for the world so you don't lose as many skills when you die
i think devs overdid with mystlands
or the difficulty, if wanted
this biome can ruin the experience
In what way?
Mistlands just takes some getting used to. It's very tough at first, but once you get used to using sound cues and know the types of enemies there I'd say it's easier than swamp
at elast give me the next weapons and armor and I don't have
You'll get used to mistlands eventually. It's definitely a steep learning curve first time in.
Yeah, I died 8 times my first time learning the Mistlands.
It's a new biome. Not one we've had for 3 years. Just takes time and patience.
Or world modifiers.
in what way my skill point are under 50 now
what can I do now? uh?
That's fine. You don't need them that high.
My damage is getting low
You can do mistlands with 0 skill points. They just make it a bit easier
I hope i don't bornout i really hope
Skill with the weapons is far more important than level.
I'm on hardmode and went to Mistlands in mountains gear the other day. Still killed regular seekers fine.
But ye, it's gonna be faster and easier the better gear and skills you get
The lower the skill, the easier it is to get the points back. The higher the skill, the harder. So if you ever get good enough to get your skills to 100, and then die...
I hope I don't have to put pacifist and cheat everything
but mystland is not made for alone players like me, this is for sure
You don't. You just need to learn how to fight everything, etc... just like we did in every other biome.
mystland is only for experienced people, and game after 600 days of game it's telling me "sarch for help cause you are not enough"
The entire game is meant for solo play.
mystland no
Mistlands yes.
a lot of us did mistlands solo yeah
sorry but you don't throw 8 ticks, two 2 stars and a seeker to one player
the game is just more fun with friends
I solo played Mistlands my second through 4th times. Didn't die through the entire game until the Queen for all 3 of those.
Mistlands is tough at first to be sure. No shame in lowering difficulty if you need though. I think if you have a tough time with mistlands you might not like Ashlands either, I'd say it's quite a bit harder (although, you can actually see stuff in Ashlands. So if that's your issue, maybe its better)
average day in mistlands
not even a gjall?
no no, it's me the stupid who never cheated and brough every piece of ore by boat
Why is that stupid?
that's what I gain to play fair
a game where i have to die and lost all my progress
everyone brings it by boat m8
I once had like 6 seekers pushing me around in the water
I think the game is far more enjoyable when not cheating
I don't use dev commands, or mods. I just learn the world.
Mistlands is a fun and enjoyable experience lmao
i like mistlands
no, it isn't
You haven't lost your progress. Just some of it.
Mistlands is such a "I love it" or "I hate it" biome, depending on the person
Personally, it's my favorite biome
not being able to see most part is bummer but when you do find a clearing, its nice
died already 8 times, my moral and my skills are getitng demolished
Maybe we can help. What food, armor, boss power, and weapons are you using?
I like the insect theme they went with, but i dislike the terrain, and the rain just makes it morr harder
and what are you dying to?
I learned every mystland monster, I can parry and dodge. But it keeps throwing me large amount of op enemy I am not geared for
He is dying in one of the dungeons.
smashing brain matter does attract the harshest enemies
love that clip @unique onyx.
You really need to use AoE weapons in there.
maybe you were unprepared
One it was a star 3 seeker (insta oneshotted), once I was attacked by three loxes while fighting a flying brain, yesterday three seekers together and 1 star one, today an army of tickes
I never died by a berserker in plains
Here I am always outnumbered
is grausten stronger then marble?
when i 1st found the queen lair, it was next to a dverg mining op. It was whimsical, very nice view, somewhat SAFE etc. Then a gjall with 3-4 seekers and armada of ticks pops out of nowhere, demolished base & me. Took like 1 min
If you struggle with groups, maybe try using ice arrows or a blackmetal atgeir (atgeir is crazy OP). Also up to preference but if you feel like you get surrounded and can't get away, wearing a bit of fenris armor can help
Root chestpiece is also very good because it has pierce resist, so you only take half damage from seekers and ticks
with shit gear on myself I farmed without cheats cause I am stupid
Don't think so. Think it's quite a bit weaker
From my perspective, I think your best bet is to use the terrain. Rock outcrops are my favourite weapon for not being overwhelmed.
i really hope that damn cave rewards you with extremely powerful gear
Why do you think not using cheats is stupid? That's twice you've said that.
cause you see what I gain
if mistlands is hard, wait thill you see whats next
It does. Mistlands gear is crazy OP. Although you likely need to go through a few mines and get other materials before you can make it
as a not master player
Not helpful.
Lol
just being straight
Sure, but that guy is seconds away from quitting the game. Let's not encourage that, eh?
btw my skills being between 5-20, is that too low ?
I think by now everyone would understand each new biome is harder, and very different, than the last.
i`m sure hios ambition will prevail and he will get back on the horse succesffully
Depends on the biome you're at.
depends on how you play. You can go into a biome with 0 skill.
Not with comments like that.
you`re to sensitive
bef/swamp
And you're a jerk.
wow, ok
@subtle perch the iron sledge will be your friend in the infested mines, along with a bow and frost arrows.
I like some of my skills to be in the 40's by swamp time. Especially run and jump.
You can always jump back to the entrance if you start to get overwhelmed.
atgeir also works well in infested mines
for mines just get some bombs and pole. no biggy
Yeah, any of the AoE weapons.
@subtle perch the other thing I like to use is stink bombs. Great for softening enemies up.
should i use console for some skill gains 😏
Also, Seekers have a hard time going through those doors in the mines, they can get stuck quite easily when trying to fly through them @subtle perch
draw all mobs to the entry ledge, leave the vines hanging so ticks dont jump in and have fun with most of the catacomb
just defeated and parryed multiple time a warrior seeker n wolf gear
the ones in the pits, just bomb them
those was ticks, i couldn't bock them!
I never do, but to each their own.
you can parry ticks, but if you miss you can roll them off too
there is spikes and spikes
Ah, damn. With ticks you just have to be ready to dodge-roll as fast as possible...
and this time it's too much huge
i think getting mad because game owned you is part of learning how to overcome it. No one expects you to get it right all the time.
Ticks can be tough if you're not ready
in plains I had already gear to fight them, and i trashed the squitos fast and I can parry them three per time
I have 700 hours and I don't understand that
I think the biomes are all different and fun in their own ways, but I wouldn't say difficulty scales only upwards as you progress
OK, I guess some of us are slower than others. 😄 😉
It does. Why do you think our food gives us more and more as we progress?
Try to parry a seeker on meadows food.
I would say entering plains with mountain gear is easier than entering swamp with BF gear
bigger numbers don't mean higher difficulty though because the bigger damage and bigger hp cancel each other out
they're basically gatekeeping later content but that's it
So you understand you cannot parry a seeker on Meadows food. So you scale up with the biomes.
you do what you got to do to mine what needs to be mined
Is it possible to somehow change settings so with death im gonna lose all inventory BUT not a equipment and hotbars?
you can't parry one, but you can still dodge-roll it. And its attack animations are both obvious and have fairly generous windups, so doing so is not particularly hard.
i agree the biomes get harder as you go unless you skip ahead then go back
mystland would be fun, but way too hard
and I want to see the day I will die twice an loose even my back up wolf armor
It is fun, mostly. As long as you have good food, armour and a wisp light.
Put your balls into it
So far I'd say difficulty: Swamp=Ashlands > Plains=Mountains=Mistlands > Black Forest > Meadows
difficulty for me scales with visibility also, swamp has it low, mist is almost none.
There is probably a mod that does that, but I don't know the new setting options. I just play as is.
lol, swamp is a walk in the park instead mystlands
Well yes, it's 3 biomes earlier.
swamp is kind of a weird biome. on normal settings it's not bad at all but on hard archers basically one shot you lol
Swamp I get. Mistlands visibility impairment I feel doesn't matter much once you get to know the biome though. There's few ranged enemies, and the ones that are there YOU either have to start the fight with, or it'll be a rare enemy that lets out a loud moan to let you know it's there, long before it gets near you
Once you internalize the gjall paranoia I find it gets easier
yea if you're not wearing/eating the right stuff on hard/vhard its tough. I'm always going in crypts with root harnesk and 230 hp so I can tank it when a couple starred archers shoot me from the corner of a room as I walk in
But outdoors is the bigger danger
Everything in Mistlands is easily kited too. You can pretty much run rings around seekers and seeker soldiers once you get a feather cape and gjall can be handled by using the terrain for cover.
mistlands is all about sound, sneak and dodging.
dungeon cleared, i hope now black forge will do something or i just unistall
it does. Good job
I want to become nearly a god in mystlands now
I haven't found sneaking that useful in mistlands but mb I'm doing it wrong. Just hard to sneak when you can't see the enemy far ahead
Black forge is very good.
see, he got back on the horse
depends if you're on the ground or in rocks. I like sneaking as soon as I hear the audio cues for bad guys.
ML mobs are all easy if you can get a shot off with the Arbalest before they see you.
its gonna be so much work grinding skills up q_____q
i've mostly found it useful in infested mines and vs gjall.
Also using it in mines is a great way to level it since you're basically always in somethings detection range.
Vs gjall you don't get a second sneak attack but they drop aggro pretty quickly if they lose sight and you sneak, which makes for an easy way to get a break for stam/eitr regen by hiding behind a rock and sneaking.
LOL that's kinda the definition of grinding @buoyant ether
Why would you?
my skills low af
You don't need to grind shift or space. That'll happen naturally.
someone said i gotta have skills around lvl 40
Honestly, the most fun grinding I've found is running and jumping around my base walls at night, then shooting at anything that hears me.
you don't, it just makes it easier
mine are between 5-20, most are under 20 and im in swamp
you want around 30-40 by the end of Mistlands
Play the game and your skills will rise.
My viking doesn't sleep, he runs laps.
even that is just nice to have and not required
only because one reason and i will post in the screenshots
I'm not grinding my skills nearly as much as I usually do. Run is my highest, in the 70's. Jump is in the 60's and clubs and bow is in the 50's. I usually have all of those in the 80's by now. Sword and Axe are in the 30's. Those normally would be over 50. I'm still doing fine, just takes a little longer than I am used to, to win some fights.
and that's the only reason. I left Grime and Warband for similar reasons
but those two are at least way unfair than mystlands. Grime dev has to be put in front 200pages of what is a soulslike and what is a rpg
In my first 500 hours I came VERY close to rage quitting Valheim several times. The first time I fought Yag got me the closest. I actually "quit" for several days. Now Valheim is one of my all time favorite games.
Just recently entered the mistlands for the first time.
Black core hunting is kinda ridiculous. How many dungeons do I need to clear before I can access the base level of mistlands gear?
It seems like most of the time I spend in the biome is gonna be with padded armor and Frostner
It varies thanks to good old random number generation. Plus they do hide them.
So look at the walls carefully.
Kk. It's just a little strange to me. Seems like the other biomes, you unlock the gear relatively quickly. With this one, you need to spend a ton of time grinding with lower-tier gear before you can do much.
tempted to spawn bis items for myself but i know it would kill the fun
I agree it seems to take longer.
I hear Ashlands can be even worse.
Oof. I'll make sure to bring friends before running ashore of ashlands
Good idea. Multiple new boats too.
I've noticed life gets much easier in this game with friends
Load them to establish a base in the Ashlands.
You share the work, instead of do all of it, so yeah.
Those who scream together live easier and have more fun.
is carrot soup good food ? like stronk
And it's helpful being able to take turns beating a seeker soldier's backside while the other had it's attention
i gotta find seeeeeeds 😫
IIRC its like 40 stamina.
Excellent for black Forrest food
Very good stamina while you're in that biome
but not for swamp ?
It's OK for swamp, but you'll unlock turnip stew in the swamp, and that's better
I'm assuming there aren't any plans to add something to do with the old Flametal?
Thought it would be fun to add something fun to make with it for the lulz
how far do bronze wpns carry me ?
They'll carry you far enough to get iron for the iron set
wolfs will tear you apart in bronze, so get good at dodge or good food.
On the new run I started with my brother I was cheesing goblins with bronze gear
sword is mid 30's in plains
Haven't gone into mistlands much yet. Still trying to get base situated and defensible.
nah i mean weapons, not armor
I seeem to get it into high 30's before I die again lol
depends how long you last, basically it will just take you longer to kill them
Yeah weapons, especially the atgir. That this is a mega cheese weapon lol
bugs don`t like frost
People have beaten the game using only their fists before so yeah lol
and the frostner knockback can save you many times
Use 45 tiles on the mid. 26 at the top and bottom
use the angled beams to frame in the attic space
being in the swamps starting to frustrate
It gets easier when you upgrade food and gear. After a while, swamp becomes super easy, barely an inconvenience
Has anyone else experienced a lot of items not spawning properly? 2/10 times I mine, the ores dont appear. I just killed a Neck, and got no tail
Lag?
i barely get to explore due to fuckery
is it possible to reduce bow damage from settings somehow?
Not without mods
what mods can help with that
probably better archery?...
Wackysdatabase
But you would need to tweak the stats of each bow
oh...got it, thanks
Is it possible to chance the direction objects rotate with the mousewheel in build mode? I feel like mine is going backwards and I am losing it lol
It is. Known bug, being worked on.
Oh ok glad im not nuts lol
what mods do y'all recommend for adding new creatures/enemies into the game
Something seems off with the building system today, seems backwards? Am I just going crazy or is anyone else experiencing this
oh lol nvm

That's probably best asked in #mods-discussion . I personally don't use any.
k
everything is fine ig
Maybe it's my muscle memory being thrown off by v rising, idk
Do you need to be nearby the eggs like you do with taming animals?
yes ig
all breading needs people around 64 meters max
its like render distance, it resets if it unrenders
ig its 64 meters or it could be more, check it on wiki
little bastardos constantly want to escape
Think eggs will still hatch without you nearby, but chickens will only mate and lay eggs if you're nearby
trap them in a room
yes they are in a room
give them a hotel room i mean
nah it's def all backwards
maybe yes maybe no
ye checked steam bugs and multiple other people are experiencing the same thing on pc
unlucky 😢
didnt even feel it ig
Comfort 17 💪
I seem to have the maypole in my build list still. Haven't tried to make another. Is it permanent now that we got it for Midsummer?
You can build them until the end of June, and then not until next year 😉 Build 'em while you can. You'll be able to make Yule trees in December as well.
Gotcha. Thanks. I thought they were only available for a week.
Yeah, used to be tied to patches and such, but they've moved it to be fully calendar driven. The wiki has details on seasonal items you can build and when I believe.
We should have more seasonal items. Not sure what, just more.
hi
why are my boars perma frightened? they have been in their little pen for like an hour now, one of them started having the heart effects and got upto 17% then became frightened
do you have fire nearby?
Are you trying to tame them? If there's a fire nearby and they aren't tamed, they will stay frightened.
is the standing torch enough to scare?
can i build over into ashlands forts or is there some kind of ward
the Mac Version is here!!!!!
is there any reason to farm anything besides onions once you get them
you can build inside 🙂
Some later game foods require carrots, so keep all of the veggies around. I usually keep a couple stacks of everything just in case.
@frigid gust @merry pebble it was the singular standing torch at the gate, now both of them are showing the heart effects 😄
you still need turnips and carrots as ingredients for later tier foods
Good news is once they're tamed you can put it back. Tamed creatures aren't scared of fires. Which also means they will walk into them without a care, either...
it was outside of the gate since i wanted to mark where the enterance is but i dont think ill need an actual wooden gate in the future just the slim fences and i jump over them
Greydwarf shamans and blobs can poison through walls, and there will eventually be some flying enemies. Make sure your boars have a roof and their walls are at least 3-4m away from your base exterior walls.
is atgir > stagbreaker ?
Depends on for what. Not for skeletons, but yes for trolls.
ANY TIPS FOR ASHLAND? HOW TO MAKE BASE IN ASHLANDS
Known bug right now, no fix for it as a user.
how do y'all deal with tar pits? im not sure how to beat 10 growths at once tbh
what should my 3rd food be for the plains besides lox meat pie and bread
i guess just cooked lox meat looks pretty good
Lead some fulings or lox over to the pit and be quick 😉 You can put campfires around the pit afterward to keep them from respawning
Lox meat pie, bread, blood pudding or fish wraps depending on if you want to run HHS or HSS
is there a way to get past the swamp piles in crypts?
hear me out: taming update
Have you tried a pickaxe?
blood pudding and fish wraps seem like a lot of work compared to just hunting lox, cloudberries, and farming barley
because oh my god we need it so much
It is, but it's more stats. Depends on what you're doing... if you need the best food for a boss fight or something, plain cooked meat will be suboptimal.
yeah ill run lox meat for most then get some blood pudding when needed
also
is it your first time fighting yag?
Fish wraps are almost equal to lox pies, I would highly recommend them.
yes
are they stam food?
pack LOTS of healing mead and like 4-5 fire res wine
No, they are health, just like lox pies. Blood pudding is stamina, like bread. I actually think blood pudding is better.
i ran
Bread- Serpent meat - lox pie for my yag fight i did yesterday
uhg idk about serpent meat, that is a pain in the ass to get
something like a fish wrap or blood pudding is a good enough replacement
yeah ill do fish pie, lox pie, and bread
also
i find having extra health is usually more useful in a prolonged fight since stamina recovery becomes your gating issue
be READY to fight off blobs/Fuelings
yeah thats been the theme for pretty much all the bosses past eikthyr
i didnt like yag or moder tbh
Wish I knew about this garbage incinerator sooner
this is my first ever run beating bonemass moder and yag
moder wasnt BAD i just didnt find her fun
i had lots of bow levels so it wasnt an issue for me
yeah me too
Bow? Melee'd her to death
ive been going mainly archer threw my duo run with me and my brother
I def shot her while she was in the air, but the second she lands I pound her face in
used troll armor until i got to swamp then used root armor until i got to plains im using 3-3-3 Padded now
also root armor is oddly good in the plains
Is there eventually a hanging brazier that doesn't consume coal?
not that i know of
Wisp light, hopefully?
It does not
wisp torches DONT take fuel
yeah I want something to hang tho
The hanging brazier doesn't take much coal, but it also provides a fire effect. Your other option might be the wall mounted Dvergr lanterns?
in that case I someone who is JUST out of plains and does not have any mistlands shit yet i think your shit out of luck
so as far as i know BACK TO CHOPPING TREES
Don't think I have those yet. I put copper sconces up. But more just aesthetics want to hange a brazier. It's also kinda hard to reach where I wish to place it
The wisp torches don't provide enough lighting inside when it gets dark. The lanterns are a better option.
id advise placing some ladders
That's ugly af tho
then get rid of them when its placed.
ah
but yeah, guess could just place a temp ladder to fill it also
i mean they dont burn coal very fast from what i know
The sconces are crazy bright
They fill the need for sure. I just want a cool chandellier look
They should let you make a cool antler chandalier with Eikthyr antlers
ooo thats a neat idea
The braziers will last for 5 and a half hours wall-clock time when full of coal. It's a pretty decent chunk of time.
That would be pretty metal
you should suggest that #suggestions
braziers create nice fire shadows on the ceiling in colab with a fire pit
i wish there was a black metal arrow
only think your gonna get is a needle arrow
there is one, a bit big though 😄
yes i know
imagine if we could tame and ride serpents
this is not Dune 😄
yeah.... would still be cool tho
armored serpent with silver teeth
bonemaw serpents gonna get ripped to shreds for stepping to cupcake
For Berserkir Lightning Axes, should I be using Ask armour or flametal
I added the chandelier suggstion, but it just vanished into oblivion.
you need to add a lightbulb at the start
ah
Wait really? Imma have to raid 5 fortresses, then. The two I got from this one fortress I raided have long since de-spawned because the horde would just not relent and I kept on dying
Under normal circumstances, same here, but that floating bug that makes it impossible for me to jump really makes that difficult, so imma wait before I mine it off more lavaiathans
Yea tbh I've only mined 2 pillars. Need to play more Ashlands, but what I have played I tended to get flammetal from fortresses a lot
I think, like the ghost, they are unique spawns (spawns only once per dungeon). Wiki seems to agree with the caviot that they can spawn during raids.
also
when dose 'skelton suprise' come into the raid pool?
After killing bonemass. And it never gets disabled again
Think the hildr skelly raid also has rancid remains
bro... ive killed yag how have i NOT got it yet?
RNG.
I've completed the game like 3 times and never got a drake raid. Never got a surtling raid either until I played max raid rate
Standard raid rate is just not very quick
chance - bonemass unlocks like 8 different raids
I HATE 'THE GROUND IS SHAKING' I HATE 'THE GROUND IS SHAKING' I HATE 'the ground is shaking'
OK? Sorry to hear that.
Me personally, I wouldn't let derek talk to me like that
what about the forest is moving
meh
if you got bronze gear it aint that badw
Virtually no-one gets that one as they go through Eikthyr so quickly.
isnt eikthyr's raid "eikthyr rally's the creatures of the forest?"
p sure the forest is moving is the greydwarf raid
I think if we could put crafted shields on karves and other ships to increase durability would be cool
i have plenty of those. Even later in the game. Refills my supply + base coal.
Yes, I'm an idiot, sorry.
a karve covered with Skull tower shields would look VERY cool
May Odin look kindly upon you
I didnt know they RESPAWN
