Those are the mods that intrigue me. Qol are pretty sweet from what it sounds. I've been saving the mods experience for after completing full release. Just another way of prolonging the experience lol
I’m all about that as well.. I’ve been playing for maybe 5 months now, never even seen the mistlands
That's awesome
Bows before hoes, azu extended player inventory, and any and all build pieces if you absolutely love building and farming
Epic loot is super cool too, just adds more depth. After this playthrough I’m likely going to go the Therzie route and try his mods, they look amazing
Isn't there a qol that puts equipped items in there own space as it were
Bro yes
There’s even like lumber piles, for each lumber, and as you place more in the inventory, they get larger
Stones, even a cabinet thing for ingots
Just so much more immersive. They act as storage for those particular items
Pretty cool. I don't want to continue off topic. But I'm definitely intrigued by quite a few
Yeah my bad, I get carried away. Been playing long time and I’m still excited to talk about Valheim.
Likewise. Just want to respect the wishes here
Word
the news about valheim coming to mac is legit, right? i know it's not april but i just wanna hear confirmation from the community that the x post (and the post in #news ) isn't part of my imagination
No, it's completely and utterly fake.
Obviously, information coming directly from one of the game's devs should be taken very mildly
Why is our word more believable than the devs?
if you want to be sure, check with multiple sources like the games website and any gaming news outlet sites. you could also look at social media sites. if many sources say "yes" then it has a good chance of being true.
Oh no... oh no oh no OH FUCK
I reached the Ashlands on my path to reach the fucking Queen DX
I don't wanna lose all my shit to the bone dragons or get my boat destroyed to the heat
how wide/tall is the valheim world, i wonder how long it would take to sail from ashlands to deep north when that is a part of the game.
approximately 10500 metres, I believe
Literally every single one of those websites have 0 relevance vs the word from an official developer
Phew, managed to get out shortly afterwards
Now I'm seeing some weird stalagmites from the water
And the water with those stalagmites is red. Must be Ashlands turf
It is.
Whelp, Modor is once again given in Sacrifice, now on to conquest of the plains and Yagluth.
Thank fuck for refined eitr shooting sparks. Allowed me to steal two components on my way to the Queen's island (which is where my main Mistlands base will likely be. It has to be a big island with a few yggdrasil roots, jotuns, dorf fortresses, and/or mines)
do trees heal over time?
as far as i can tell they do not
I've hit trees and left one hit left. ported home and came back later and it still only took one hit to knock it down.
yeah ill just have to be careful around my 'for show' trees at base then
yeah i had an oak tree for show but that thing didn't last. deff be careful
ty, so with good wind it takes 15 min, if you got a direct path north. maybe realistically 30 min with some bad wind and some detours.
It’s more that I don’t really trust x as a source of verity
I had posted that before reading the post in #news bc I rejoined the server specifically to ask
yeah idk why everyone was weird about answering. the answer is yes, its reliable
Current status: literally trolling Fader to death. LOL.
can you really trust anybody but the individuals you trust :]
Anyway ty folks the news made my week. So excited I can finally play it on my computer instead of needing to invite myself over to play on someone’s PC on their account or vicariously play through streams
Anything new in this game? I haven't played in quite awhile
heaps 😄
new biomes, quests, new trader, lots of stuff
yo so I have a quick question
is there anyway i can transfer my stuff from a old version to the most recent version?
is a rank 4 root harnesk still better than carapace armor?
best looking trophies in your opinions?
The tar growths are annoying af. Is there a counter to their nonsense?
the ones that shoot at you?
new rule, kill all lox on sight
these bastards keep wandering over to me at the worst times and they are never neutral
Bonemass
im thinking for mounting on a trophy wall
Hi just wondering can you craft from storage now without mods?
infested citadel is spooky dooky
sic the loxes and fulings on them
there's usually only a few, and they respawn very slowly (every 2 days)
kiting a few loxes there or a fuling scout party usually works plenty
THanks
Does upgrading the trollstav or staff of the wild do anything other than increase initial hit dmg & durability?
Just beat bone-mass for the first ever time with my brother feeling good chat
Staff of the Wild gives you more summons
nice work fellas
pre brewed 12ish frost meed alil worried for the moutins
just gotta make it to mist for magic 😫
Just 'bout to go at Yagluth again! Was some time sins i last did it. Started over again to get to Ashlands 🙂 Any advices?
My padded set is lvl4. I have both Frostner and silver sword at highest lvl.
Food wise the internet seems a bit unsure about whats best combo for him.
whats the best way to get enemies to stop spawning near my stuff? the best looking, the most natural
Accidentally sailed into an unfamiliar biome, got killed by a giant mosquito losing all my good stuff, now I'm looking at days of work just to be able to build a boat to get back to that spot, with no guarantee that I won't just get killed by the mosquito while trying to get my stuff. Feels bad man. Learned so many lessons in this one mistake but it's such a bummer to have to grind for so long to un-do it
slightly soul crushing ngl
i feel that
just wait till you need to fight those bastards on the regular, they are always a pain in the ass
I despise them. it one shotted me
so why does the lava oneshot?
because it is realistic? If you were to jump on lava in real live you would burn to cinders too?
just cuz its realistic dosent make it fun
well,, just avoid stepping on lava? 😛 i died because i misjudged the jump and landed on the lava instead of the basalt... that are the dangers of the biome (amongst others).
hard to avoid when the ||asksvins|| knock you half a mile back even when they are parried
true... that is why I make a point at trying to avoid fighting with my back towards the lava... i just circle around the enemies no one said you had to fight them in a direction that is bad for you. Same as fighting on a slope - would not work nicely ... just kite them over to were it is saver to fight.
I do fight a lot with the spear, so I h ave to be strategic about what direction and on what terrain i attack ... meanwhile it has become second nature to me
lower ground, put campfire in, bury it back up to flat ground
they block spawns even when they run out of fuel
ah interesting
thats probably the best way to do it then. does raising the ground not pop it back up above the surface? also, will enemies congregate around them to try to destroy them?
enemies won't
also pretty sure "raise ground" will break the campfire, while "level ground" won't
it's pretty finnicky and honestly I don't bother, but you can try
enemies with ground smashing attacks (read: almost every giant enemy of every biome) can still break them though
if all else fails i was going to add a couple bonfires out front surrounded by spike walls
I'm like, 99% sure that enemies ignore campfires though?
the only base structures they don't break are campfires, bonfires, and braziers
I've been littering campfires all over the woods my main base is at, and nothing targets them ever
they only break sometimes in troll raids
are 2 star boar spawns fixed or random?
as random as anything else
like if i find a group of boar, can i keep killing them to reroll their stars?
or is the star they spawn with always the same
boar spawns at random locations and with random star level
i see the same stars in the same area's after killing them multiple times
pretty sure its not that random... maybe a few meters difference
however, they do stop spawning once there's too many of them, so do cull the lesser star ones
ok so i need to find a 2 star straight up, cant just keep killing a group
if a group that spawns doesnt have a 2 star, it will never spawn a 2 star
that's... not how it works
zone spawning is completely random and happens around you, the only thing that might cause it to be less random is that a valid spawn location has a chance to be picked again
but you can just flatten an entire area to make every spot around you valid locations, so it's in essence still random
go to the wiki, Spawn zones page
do you understand what im asking about finding one spot and repeatedly spawning new boar there and eventually getting a 2 star though
like can i find one boar spawn location and just reroll it until i get a 2 star, or do i need to find a 2 star directly
they do not have a fixed spawn location is what I'm saying! XD
they do, the boar stones
boar stones do not respawn
that's what I'm saying!! XD the boar stones spawn the boars ONCE
they dont respawn near it?
nope
oh shit ok, i wasnt getting that
if they do, it's random spawns, not the boar stone
so i need to find a 2 star in the wild
boar stones spawn like a shit ton of boars, and random spawns can only spawn up to 4 around you
do other animals take the boar slot?
nope, each animals have their own slots
so cull lesser star ones, else they take up slots
ok, so just hunt for them until you find one, and kill all the lower ones
yup
thanks for the info, cleared up a lot
if you didn't know already, starred boars only spawn 800m away from spawn
and they only spawn in Meadows
im way south, that shouldnt be a problem
good luck then! I've personally never had to care much about starred boars (breeding towers are insanely effective), but starred boars will definitely get you a lot more loot
Hey guys, is there a bug report channel? Looking to discuss magmafish fishing bug
Hello.
Morgen gjall.
does tacking work in valheim
is this true that shield generators barrier counts as roofing for stations?
Alright, sealbreaker made, and fire staff level 3 made. What other preparations should I make?
Just tested only with the workbench but the answer appears to be no
depends, but usually its better to row
tacking works in extreme weather, for all other situations its not worth
tacking meaning trying to go directly against the wind, if you get the corner and you get some wind thats still better than rowing
yep, I seem to remember that except boarstones 2* doesn't spawn within a certain radius of the center of the map (where you're dropped off) too.
I found that out after using like 20 hours hunting for 2 star boars near my first base at my first map. and i only killed one once and it was near the boar stone. either that or the spawn rate increased as you got further out and it was crazy low that close to the boss pedestal.
Then again this might have been changed in a patch and I just never noticed it.
im basically bordering the ashlands right now so i should be fine on distance
pertty sure boarstones spawn starred boars no matter where (only once though)
the ones in the wild that dont spawn arounda boarstone or similar will never be starred within a certain radius around the starter spawn
I found my 2 star piggy yesterday, used a harpoon to safely and humanely drag him to the base. It was on the edge of the starter island nowhere near a stone. Hunting at night seems to help
Is the Queen arena something I can leave at any time or must either the Queen or I die if I want to leave?
Asking so I can make sure to run away if either magic or meleeing doesn't work
Had to keep my 2 star doggies a good distance away
well i found a 1 star, thatll have to do for now
if i find a 2 star down the road ill replace it
800m to be exact.
you can leave any time you want
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure she starts to slowly regen health once you haven't been there for long enough
nvm, seems like that's constant: 0.028% per second, 10% over 6 minutes, 100% over an hour
Yeah I seem to remember right that it was something like that. it always annoyed me I just built within that on my first map. 😆 and that one two star boar I found early really tricked me.
Ahh, thank you very much
Hmmm, I think I'll need the Staff of Protection if i am indeed going to go the magic route
that's about the only staff that you'll be constantly using, yes
I run 2 eitr 1 stamina food now because of Staff of Protection
heard a rumor about flame metal towers being made unsinkable. Is there any offical info about this?
known bug right now, ||unload the area by going through a portal as it sinks, and come back to it completely fine||
Aww dammit, imma have to find another Jotun corpse with a head, then
I only have the fire staff and frost staff
Being able to attack without depleting means to run is huge
good luck, I had to hit like 6 heads to get enough for armor and full staff upgrades
Thank you very much
I think I found three heads total, with a fourth one that's yet to be mined
Though I did also find a spent quarry with crates containing soft tissue, so that's nice
Plus having only one extractor is painful
ahhh, thats why some of the towers seem to reappear from time to time!
some Dvergr camps also have a head in them so if you're willing to commit some tomfoolery (I know I did once...)
Oh yeah, one of those quarries! I think I've only found two in my previous playthroughs
as a bonus you also get the extractor in there after the quarrel
honestly once you get about 2 extractor going, the problem wouldn't be the extractor speed, it'd be how many roots can you find within an area
my 3 extractors was draining roots dry daily, I had to spend like half a day every time I go back from mining skulls to find a new root
Oh, on my way to the Queen's island, I got my hands on 4 extractors, and three or four more dorf fortresses whose crates I left untouched for the time being, and I have blackmetal scraps, so it's only a matter of time before I put all those extractors to good use and leave those roots dry
Any tricks to farm greydwarf eyes faster?
They’re my biggest limiting factor for making a portal hub
I’ve tried roaming the black forests going from greydwarf nest to greydwarf nest but only really got like 40 eyes a run
A greydwarf farm.
Dig below the nest, and kill the spawns. Make a grey dwarf farm
Is the idea to afk there?
yeah
Okay so I guess there’s no faster way then
not really no
well, you could also start building something during the night in the darkforest. Loads of dwarfs come at night
Yes and no, you can afk if you use certain things to kill them, you can also actively murder them but it is about as fast as afk.
I guess I’ll just roam then, atleast that way I’m also getting my sword skill up
if you are lucky you can find 2 spawners relatively close together and if they are in render range of each other you could have a double farm going.
Make a hole under a spawner and kill them with your sword, faster getting eyes and faster training sword skill.
You should also be safe from trolls and if it gets dicey you can stamina pot and get out of the hole.
Silly question, but does Moder's power make windmills work?
afaik it only works for boats
heh, bummer
Windmill near the coast, sail towards the windmill and use moder power and maybe that makes the windmill work faster ^^
well windmills are affected by speed of the wind, not direction, so i dont really see what moders power would change for them 😅
There would be wind blowing straight into the windmill.
Wouldn't change much though I guess.
I'll have to test it later. Sleep.
well the windmills are rotating depending from where the wind blows, so the direction really doesent matter
Now if only moder power made wind appear or made the wind that was there in the first place stronger.
that would work, but alas
hey peeps, what do I do after defeating Yagluth ?
go into mistlands 🙂 but before make the thing you can make with his drop
why before ? I already made it
Then go forth into the mists.
the fountain allows you to get something that will make exploring mistlands much easier 🙂
Just go in blind!
sail west or east, eventually you will find some 🙂
i did, not much fun XD (nah, it was fun, but i prefer to see a bit XD)
Once you suddenly see thick mist appear you have found some.
okay thanks
btw the save is from a year ago, but not explored much
A tip for in the mistlands.
Your ears are a valuable asset.
its will be clouds of colorfull mist, dont confuse with the normal mist that you can encounter while sailing 🙂
oh thanks
should still work just fine 🙂
hope so
Its like a big colorful ominous cloud.
gotcha thanks
its a big poopy cloud
are wisplights consumable etc.
or breakable
or do they help you thru the mistlands the whole time ?
you only need one 😄
okay thanks
Unless you die, in which case you might need a second to find your way 😄
nahhh, naked running without a wisplight is the way to go
the biome is 'difficult to navigate' until I die and need to run to get my stuff back asap
looking for Pinay player DM me 😄 thank you 🙂
#1024264966712340510 is the place to look for other players, browse at your leisure or make a post.
True that 3rd party sources are less credible(game news websites) than the developer(s) words(here on discord and patch notes). I also said to check the game's website, which would be a official source. It was more about fact checking, which that user was trying to do via the discord community since they (aparently) already checked the news pin and official site.
I probably should have just given them a thumbs up emoji to say they were correct in that the news is very likely accurate. After all, human error is possible, we saw a bit of that with the ashlands live "release date" issue.
ok so i purchased fishing bait for the first time, it unlocked multiple recipes, where do i craft these other baits from
Cauldron.
HAHA I was faster Asatru.
yep you were 😄
Even with the . that yours didn't have ;p
you started a bit sooner for sure 😉
Indubitably.
fuuny how it rains every time i pull out the fishing rod
Maybe you pull out the fishing rod every time it rains?
I dunno if I'd be comfortable conquering mistlands naked, but I do agree a wisplight isn't very important. I often skip yag or at least come back to him once I've got some mistlands gear
everytime i try to tame an ashvkin , a few charred warrior just casually walk into the trap and kill it , gah ...
hey guys
👀
i remembered a thing i learned back in school - how aboriginals would trap fish by making rock pools in rivers so the fish would get stuck inside. and that got me thinking... is such a thing possible in valheim? 🤔
believe it or not, yes
not quite in that way, but if you make a water-surface level platform, sometimes the fish hops out of the water and straight into the platforms
you can look up fish trap designs on youtube
but look for more recent ones, there was a patch to their behavior some time ago
Hey guys, can you sail with a "normal" wooden ship through the Ashlands or do you need the new boat?
soup vikings, i wanted to ask if theres any one that has like a server or a place to play together since i finally gathered the confidence to join a lobby and play sometime
You can but the boat will get damaged and break eventually.
look at #1024264966712340510
thanksss
gotta spawnproof or make a more sturdy pen
I noticed that most asksvin spawn near lava, so I spawned proof the area around and even got lucky I found a 1 ⭐
so yah, that is the way... some dvergrs wandering around almost found them tho
meybe a dumb question but bim about to foght modera, use needle arrows or poison arrows?
Needle arrows are much better than poison. Obsidian is a bit better than poison
needle then, thanks
A fang spear or flesh rippers is best 😎
poison arrows do more total dmg than both obsidian and needle...
im skippign mele weapins, i did maxed out dragur fang and that will be all
I mean it depends on how fast you're shooting her. Most people have upwards of 40 bow skill in mountain I'd say, and fire at close to max fire rate. In which case a lot of the poison damage is wasted as poison doesn't stack
If you don't overwrite the poison tick by firing a new arrow in the 5 seconds it ticks and in that way obsidian takes the lead since you can fire that faster and don't have to care about ticking damage and needle trumps obsidian.
If you're shooting an arrow every 10 seconds then for sure poison would be strongest
Isn't 5 seconds enough?
think so, I'm just exaggerating to be sure
are Vineberries still bugged?
I haven't seen anyone complaining about them.
I just planted a ton and grab some whenever I see them
The drop rate is fairly high, at least
that's nice
How far away from the wall do the vines have to be? and how spaced out should I plant them?
Set both arrows to your quick slots and alternate between shots for best dps.
I planted vines up my entry staircase half-walls and a skele came and beat the hell out of them 😔 can't have nice things lol
What food combo should I run for a mage in Ashlands?
wanna see what magic players been running
2 magic 1 stam seems to work fine. You don't need hp if you use protection and keep your distance, which is easier since you don't need to manage stamina nearly as much.
yeah I'm looking for specific food recommendations
because Ashlands magic food recipes seem to heavily feature sap
which I guess is fine, it's just hard to get a hold of in large quantities consistently
Tbf the type of magic food doesn't really matter especially if you're just getting into it.
Uggghh, I keep getting hit by the Queen every time I try to go to the upper levels or locate her and it keeps taking me by surprise because of the mist
and also Fiddleheads and Smokepuffs aren't farmable, which makes this kinda hard to choose
Mistlands was way easier what with everything being so easily farmable, and hares being so common
Sap is also really easy to farm
Ashland magic food also runs for 30 minutes before you need to eat another one. So that outweighs the farming of sap again.
Meaning with 2 or 3 sap extractors you may be doing well enough for 2 magic foods.
Yeah, I play with my partner and we both run mages. 2 sap extractors is more than enough for us.
Just take over an Dverger outpost and you got a good supply of Fiddleheads. And most likely some smokepuffs. But you will find enough of those when going out in the wilds, so even those two aren't really a bottle neck.
guess I just need to explore more, cause getting a hold of these things has been a real pain in the butt
the spawn rates are astronomical and my inventory can only hold so much
You might just be unlucky. Fiddleheads have been all over for me. I didn't find a reliable smoke puff farm until I set up my second outpost.
Ashlands is really funny that way. Carry weight isn't really a problem for once, it's just the sheer amount of items that drop.
carrying enough materials for a stone portal
on top of all my gear and mead, I have about 5 slots free left
if I'm not playing multiplayer rn I would genuinely rage
I still wish they would make a separate inventory for gear.
I think the equip system we have is kinda good in its simplicity, id rather just have a flat increase of inventory space (adding 9 and 0 columns) over dedicated slots.
This also would open up possibilities for next tier of chest perhaps?
Either way, yes. That's really just a difference in UI, so I'm on board with either.
I'm usually running around with 10 empty slots.
But then, I keep my portal mats in my boat until I've found a good spot to land - I do have my preferences - and I know that spot will be mine for certain.
Until then I rely at the allegiance of the previous owner(s) of that spot to protect me. Which usually won't be that long, but long enough for me to make sure my food, eitr, stamina and shield bubble are at max and the only thing I need to do is to finish off some damaged monsters and destroy a ward.
the people have spoken devs, pls add more inventory slots
Ashlands has been such a good update in terms of QoL ngl
okay I can only think of the instant wood to coal but that's a huge QoL change for me
A new chest made with ashwood flametal and/or charred bones would be a great addition on top of increasing inventory space a bit.
Right now the only possible difference such chest could have over blackmetal is what... model size and cosmetic difference
you have to build them -- blackmetal, tar and wood. place a portal next to them and one in your pocket to rearrange things when they're getting cluttered
Coal sucked in my previous playthroughs, so I built two kilns in stone enclosures to hide their big ugly butts between my smelters this time around. Never run out of coal now.
man but I can't run 10 meters without my inventory absolutely clogged up XD
If ur playing solo it kinda forces you to choose what to gather, but in early biome exploration where you need everything it really damn sucks. Just 4-8 slots more would go a very long way id say.
you can turn off auto pickup, or only go 9 meters, or several other solutions exist as well
100%, I'm still very early into Ashlands and having to decide what to pick and bring with me every time has sucked big time
Crafting a carrying sack or something to upgrade the inventory would be cool. But I don't see them doing it. Their vision is creating challenges that force players to find methods to circumvent them. Whether you carry a dumb amount of chests everywhere or have to make 10 trips for loot, it seems to be what they want.
the wheelbarrow is a bit of a carrying sack, no?
the cart is a joke, added by the devs just to troll players
It's never been upgraded and gets exploded in an instant in new zones lol
I think there is another dimension to the problem here. An excellent workaround for inventory space and weight in meadow, swamp and plains is cart. But ashlands makes cart almost unusable. It dies quickly and burns down.
this i'm 100% certain, the thing's unusable
really just for mountains
heh, I actually tend to try to make my own ways of circumventing intended game mechanics because it's fun 😅
I use it extensively throughout the game. It really is good IMO.
I use it in early game when I had to lug copper and iron back to my processing outposts, but since then I've just either boat down a mountain or mine near water and ship my ores back
If we got a higher tier cart that is heat resistant and has a lot of health and inventory space (and perhaps a bit easier to pull but empty cart is also easy to pull) Then we would have a great solution for the inventory space issue.
right, speaking of transport, thank god the devs added the stone portals, easily the best QoL feature of ashlands
Honestly cart is vastly more useful as inventory slot expansion than hauling heavy stuff. To move with it comfortably you cannot pack more than 4-5 stacks of ore.
But on swamp that is flat and has a plethora of different items, its amazing.
Yeah, every biome has its own unique challenge that makes it fun. The number of loot doesn't seem to be the intended challenge for Ashlands though, the combat is. They just need to add a new cart recipe.
imo I'd say portal is better than a cart for that purpose
this is why I assert that carts are a joke
I agree theres too much bloat in Ashlands. I don't want to have to drag a cart around anywhere I go though
If you have lets say 6 empty slots and you want to gather potentially 12 different items, portal is not a viable solution.
This is making me want to make a cart there now and see how quickly it catches fire and explodes.
Gods, imagine fighting everything in the Ashlands with a cart tethered to you 😭
fair
ironically cart makes it easier to fight, at least in swamp, lemme explain
genuinely though I've not had inventory issues anywhere but ashlands
it blocks the damage coming from back and the sides, so it can actually be used tactically. if we got a tanky cart it would be perfect for ashlands IMO
Previous biomes gave me weight issues, Ashlands is just.. bloat.
the sheer amount of unique drops from ashlands can probably overfill a black marble chest
from about 15 minutes of you touching the shores
but id say the bottom line is, whether we add dedicated slots, give more inventory space or a next tier cart, id say something kinda is needed to make ashlands feel good inventory-slot wise
It's not something that makes game unplayable, but kinda a petpeeve for many players I get the impression
Actually I'm going back on my word. No cart. God knows DN will be Mountains 2.0 and they'll be useless there too lol.
XDDD
so we officially ran out of fortresses for gems. I've only got 5 lvl 1 gemmed weapons. Kinda sucks knowing that theres where my progression stops
cant even try out every new weapon
It sucks, but devcommands or a second world.
Damn that sucks, but how would you even go about making them renewable? It's not like royaljelly that makes sense to respawn/drop from stuff.
genuinely if you've made the effort to raid every fortress, I think it's fair to devcommands it
we all agreed to not "cheat" on this server but I'm starting to think that it will no longer be cheating if devs really did not think the amount of gems through atall
they could be rare drops from starred mobs or devs could massively increase the amount you get from fortresses
Have you double checked your seed with https://m.valheim-map.world/ to verify you got all the fortresses?
If you guys have agreed on not cheating, start a second world for Ashlands plundering. Devcommands ruins the experience if you've already agreed not to touch it ever.
from my last fortress i got 1 gem and 0 metal
Honestly id probably start with replacing molten cores inside the fortress tower with gems on pedestals.
jeez devs really need to pump the rates on that stuff
It's not like we need more molten cores that we can get from morgen holes ...
true, we're swimming in cores 😄
My seed says we have 20 fortresses
yeah, just checked map generator before posting here to make sure I had not missed any
my seed has 20 as well
I dropped that to the suggestions section of discord, feel free to up/downvote it according to what you believe.
Oh God, we're whinging about inventory space again, huh?
Yeah that was a pretty good suggestion tbh.
i love valheim and other survival games but inventory management is the thing i like least about them xD its never a bad time to complain about inventory space
It's always a bad time to complain about inventory storage. Inventory management is an intentional part of the game and one the devs won't back down from.
We're aware they likely won't change it.
No, we moved on to gems
😄
On the gems issue, I do agree. The drop rate is criminally low.
I do like the idea of putting them on the stands instead of the molten cores
A maximum of 40 per world is fine, but the minimum of zero is the issue.
But if they did that, folks would probably complains about molten core drops
I honestly doubt, there are soooo many putrid holes out there.
but perhaps, I dunno
I also doubt it, but someone probably would
As a shameless ore portaler, I haven't used most of the cores I've found
I think the available space and complexity of inventory management should be in line with how "industrial" the game is if you catch my drift. Games like ARK where you operate on bulk amounts of resources have obviously more sophisticated inventory systems and more slots accordingly. Or terraria (I havent played it but I heard inventory management there is very complicated)
Valheim IMO does NOT need advanced inventory and 1000 slots for items. Or automatic loading to kilns and such, that's kinda the part of atmosphere of the game that is valheim.
That however doesn't mean ashlands didnt go a bit too far in the limitations. Previously available options such as cart are not really viable here and there are items that could be removed at any moment and nobody will miss them (morgen heart for instance)
Minimum should at the very, very least be one or two.
Idk why they went with 0 at all
I guess in their mind a 50/50 chance failing 40 times seemed unlikely enough to risk.
Although when I hit the end of Ashlands this play through, I might give the devs intended portaling mechanics a try (now that they added stone portals)... And maybe even no map (if I'm feeling insane)
I can get behind this
Yeah this sums it up pretty well. They added a lot of bloat loot and nothing new for managing loot.
If you know it's bloat, you also know you don't need to be picking it up.
I feel like no map hard mode would be wild
I will say, though... stopping to drop things in the Ashlands is dangerous
I'm not insane enough for hard mode.
Why drop it, just don't pick it up. V is your friend.
That's fair.... I just have too much fomo for that
Shinies everywhere is annoying. Also yes, most of it is useful.
I want it all!
Eh, fair enough. Just saying, the tools are there.
next thing you know youll get to mistlands and it seems every single item requires resources from previous biomies
Who doesn't want a black metal chest full of morgen hearts? Anybody? No? ok...
This is very true, but you kinda need to take into account that this introduces couple potentially unwanted results in how game plays. For instance entering the biome being harder to manage than lategame gathering where you can disregard half of the items that drop.
This also makes the game indirectly harder for solo players, because 2-man team will never have this issue to begin with.
I am not sure if that's a good "feature" if you catch my drift.
Teams have it easy. More boss power uptime, more inventory. Ahh, I'm jealous.
is there anything to collect in the infested citadel after the boss is dead, other than the boss loot
A solo player will need fewer things so it balances out just fine.
That works for weight, but not necessarily for bloat
You need less amount per thing of the same amount of things.
Yes, so there's not issue. Moving on.
It is not relevant point for inventory space discussion.
Bro we were enjoying discussing inventory. You don't need to come in here and complain that we're whinging, then declare it's time to move on. 😭
Does lava incinerate items?
I don't NEED to, sure. But then people don't NEED to complain about things that will never change either.
Bruh, don't come in here telling me how human nature works
Just build a cart, that's what they're for.
We already covered that
OK, and yet the conversation is still going.
The tools to mitigate the issue are all there, it's your choice to use them or not.
Because blackforest cart is not a viable cart for environment that can burn it and/or kill in couple shots
We just want to feel heard. The game is so good we have to hunt for silly problems to complain about
I use cart in almost all biomes in the game, but in ashlands it's very difficult to employ
Oh, then #suggestions is the place for you.
just ignore him guys you don't have to interact if you don't wanna continue
I believe it was done
inserts another 25 cents
So when are we getting deep north?
Sometime next year.
Where'd they say that?
Bottom line though is, whether or not developers intended for inventory space to be a primary challenge in the new biome. If so, id say it works as intended. But if not, then discussing potential solution is indeed productive imho.
Nowhere, that's entirely my guess.
pretty sure items dropped on the ground don't get destroyed by anything but despawn mechanics
oh okay 👍
Yeah, I mean we are all here because we love this game. I don't think it's bad at all to discuss our ideas on improvements. That's what you do with things you love.
Again, we have the perfect place for that, #suggestions, and Smiffe reads every one.
I don't expect DN for 2025.
2026 minimum
Chat is a good place to chat about it 😊
2026 is fairly pessimistic I'd say, but we just don't really know.
I think if it did, it’d make inv management easier in Ashlands. Just stop for a few seconds and drop the morgen hearts.
id probably drop the new tier of cart into that section, it's a reasonable solution to the problem at hand
At least, until they explicitly announce that they start working sometime this year
We've had the same cart for 8 biomes, I can't see us getting a new one.
But if they say that they will work on other stuff this year and not start on DN until 2025, then 2026 seems more realistic
if there even was anything remotely like a trash item option in this game it would be amazing
I'm calling it. You're cursing us with another cart in time for another mountains biome.
waves roughly in the direction of the Obliterator
Its not like we have to use it in mountains.
Especially when they should make older things still useful even later
Given Ashlands terrain, a new cart could work nicely.
I think tool made in ashlands for purposes of ashlands issue solving is pervetly valid.
The only thing holding back normal cart in ashlands is its fragility
Ashlands is done, though. We move forward.
What is the point of discussing anything according to you, you said a second ago we should suggest stuff and now you back down from that stance XD
Ashlands is still young
Wooden portals are not exactly replaced by the stone ones.
I'm sure the size and such are an encouragement to use wooden portals based on circumstances
Long live ashlands
Huh, I've not backed down from anything.
I believe the ocean (5m of water depth or deeper) instantly removes drops from the game. Hence why I built a raft even before the elder.
guys, is it better to experience the game solo or with others ? first time
Both are fun for different reasons. It depends on your personality. If you're impatient, I'd suggest solo.
Depends on if you want the shenanigans of others or to experience the game without said shenanigans.
It's a lot of fun with a good group, but can be frustrating if you end up with a group of people who just mess around and don't contribute.
Others definitely make mining less tedious.
It's arguably a lot easier played with others as well, so if you're deterred by challenging gameplay, I'd suggest finding a group.
It's a single player game at heart though so it's more than playable like that.
Sorry, I was entirely and 100% joking. I was hoping the troll emoji would convey that. I'm entirely content to let the devs take their time and provide something quality, and I fully expect that to take more than a couple weeks after dropping Ashlands
You asked a question and I answered it, my mistake.
No no. DN now, in all its pre-pre-pre-alpha janky glory.
In that case, prep the boats and sail north!
I would be very surprised if anything tangible exists at all yet.
It's there today!
No, the placeholder is there, not the actual biome.
I think if you hover over it it says "Deep North"
He said he wanted it in "all its pre-pre-pre-alpha janky glory"
But that isn't it.
We are joking lol
As a dweller in a real-life northern biome, I'm looking forward to Deep North and am excited to see how they differentiate it from the mountains (because it's possible to be cold and not mountainous)
Christmas themed Ashlands confirmed? Hello?
Um, about that.
And I won't be mad if those bears are tameable
i was today years old when i found out i enjoy survival games alot more if i just turn off the building costs
atleast while i learn the game properly, my flow is so easily interrupted and keeping track of so many things makes my brain broke
where do i see my quests
There aren't quests per se. Just one big quest of killing all the bosses.
The orders are Meadows (Eikthyr), Black Forest (Elder), Swamp (Bonemass) and so on. The stuff you get from each boss will indicate where you need to go next.
Quest would be lovely
eh
Quests would make it an MMO. No thanks.
Nothing major more sealed towers of other varieties
Don't think we will get more than Hildir implemented unless they dedicate another similar update
Ashlands mini boss is unrelated to Hildir
Hot take, I think they should actually put the Deep North update on hold for smaller updates to flesh out the early game more.
Agreed. Ocean needs love & there are some QOL updates they could be focusing on.
Stone is on the ground u can walk near it and look at it to pick some up
Pick up from ground, and later you can get a pickaxe to mine it
Yea I say a viking speed boat 🚤 lol
and gates ?
press tab to craft a hammer, with hammer you can right click and one build option is gates (built with wood)
Ok but wth is the Asksvin Rug? 😭🤣
rug made of asksvins?
Lol yes. Yes it is. The visuals though.
NOOOOOO
I forgot to take all my black metal sceap out of my longboat DX
Now the crates are at risk of being destroyed and thus at risk of truly being lost for good ;-;
And that's 100 iron nails lost ._.
Crates can't be destryoed/despawn pretty sure
they can be destroyed iirc, but not despawn
my issue is, im supposedto build a bed near a fire but i cant put a fire indoors 🤔
put it outdoors? 🤷♂️
I definitely think "lilypad" when I see it
Break one of your floors and border it with beams for style.
Not if you have fire hazards on
Ask me how I know.
I would hope a new player hasn't turned that on lol
U can place it inside you just need more room make sure your roof is tall enough so the smoke won't suffocate you
I probably would have 😂
I think a new player would be the best to have it on
Before you’re use to not having it
True
Yeah... I have to redesign my house before I turn it back on. I thought I already had it on, but when I realized I didn't, I flipped it on and nearly burned my house to the ground when I went to go cook something...
fire heat radius goes through walls 😉
and is somewhat large
thanks guys <3
I don't mind it really if something burns it gives me something to do
It was an entertaining 30 seconds
I set my builds on fire on purposely sometimes
changes the password on his world
Quick question
Assuming I only have one extractor and assuming there's only one root, and assuming I need 40 sap, what would be faster, leaving the extractor there or disassembling it and then reassembling it when the root is once again pulsating with energy?
Leave it there and go find another one
Best bet is to just find a second root
I leave mine and make sap portal
this game is so cozy >_< i feel like in the forest when i was a kid OwO
You're gonna have a ride. Enjoy the game man, glad you found it lol.
what other banger survival games yall might suggest ? ive tried v rising
tho am gonna sink some good few hours into this
Enshrouded is neat
+1 for Enshrouded.
uhmm.. does it work if i put a something straight up top of a fire but have an opening nearby ? to protect it from rain
lazy peon had quite a bit of critique about it
Game certainly has it's short comings and missed layups, but all games do
how can protecc fire from wata?
just put a roof like 4m above the fire
Should yea. Don’t put it right on top but like a good distance above
Venting smoke is going to be a constant theme. Fires need cover but also need air to vent the smoke so they aren't smothered.
so a lot higher walls then ? since i yet cant be building mmultiple floors
ahhh ok ok, thanks
Build a chimney with a roof over it with enough space on the sides to allow it to exhaust
I'll third Enshrouded. It's a different game but definitely a good time
I understand that. It's more because I have about 6 extractors with me and I wanted to know whether or not to bother micromanaging each one
Though I suppose I could build iron cages around each of them to make sure they're protected
If you're not in the area they should be fine
I haven't had to protect mine. You shouldn't need more than 2-3 roots tapped as well.
Just spawn proof the area. You might have to occasionally fight off some bugs, but generally I haven't had any issues.
And I haven't spawn proofed very effectively
I personally don't typically have a mistlands base so my roots are almost always in areas that aren't active due to my lack of presence and thus enemies no touchy my stuff. And if by chance they do I go for a little walk. Just a walk. Nothing else.
might have to put difficulty on normal, im gettin my ass kicked
are stone wpns enuff for black foresT ? 🤔
I'd question as to why you're playing on anything but normal for your first playthrough O:
Flint should be the go to. Flint knife or spear
Tbh I get it. I'm a masochist that often plays games on the hardest difficulty for my first playthrough, although I think Valheim is a bit punishing like that
i dont have those yet, and i think i have ekthyr killed 🤔
Go to coast in meadows to pick up flint, kill boars for leather scraps. Then you can make them
Must make a workbench to make those and most other items. Can't just craft them on the go
You'll need to pick up Flint
You need to pick up flint before they are unlocked. Some of them also probably require leather scraps from boar.
ahhh
....oh
Huh
Yea I've never protected a sap extractor, and never had one get destroyed unless enemies aggroed me and the extractor got caught in the crossfire
Ehh, that's enough for me to wanna try to protect them. I don't wanna have to wait for that sap to replenish
uhm, how many bases do ppl usually build ?
i feel like i need another but i dont wanna overbuild 🤔
some people do one for each biome, some do only one and use it whole game, some make first in meadows and then somewhere else if they outgrow it, it really depends on you 🙂
most people I'd say like 2 main bases. One earlygame meadows/bf/swamp stage and one later game plains/mistlands stage
Depends a lot though
In my first playthrough, I had 2 main bases. In my no map I got like 8 before even going to mistlands. In my friends coop world we got (almost) one for each biome.
i for examle do only one in meadows and upgrade it/expand it as i progress 🙂
For me I choose my main base to be in a swamp so I can collect as many wisps as I can
This is what I did... Meadows base near the ocean to cover everything up to the mountains, then a plains base past that
Please send your tips on getting to Ashland land. Do we just ram boat into spikes and hop from spike to spike?
Seems like a natural separation considering meadows is friendly for raids and plains are required for advanced crops past that
is it possible to parry a lox with a blackmetal shield?
yes
yep
Parrying is also easier to succeed at the more max hp you have (eating more hp food makes you able to parry starred enemies that you sometimes might not be able to)
dont you need stamina
yes, but more hp you have the more dmg you can block and parry
thats useful info, thanks
what about these ooze in the plains
do i have to drain out these ponds to get the tar?
you have to drain them to get solid amounts, yes
ooze bombs are always usefull(unless something is immune to poison)
oh and is there any difference in the provided support that normal wooden, blackforest logs, and the tar wood pillars give?
Darkwood and normal wood have the same support
Corewood has more
but if you want to build very high up you will want wood iron poles and beams
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Wood_iron_structures these things
nope
You can hide iron beams inside darkwood ones
oh you can? i dont build with them so i didnt know XD
i know you can hide them in stone walls but thats it
Question, can || fallen valkyries || have stars?
Don't think so. Haven't seen one yet anyway
didnt see one with a star yet
before i send what im about to send, is it okay if i send an experience I just had with taming a 2 star wolf that is kind of a big wall of text?
Did it Despawn?
worse
Alright. Thanks.
Iron poles and stone let you build really high. If I remember right, if you build any wood piece on top of a iron pole or any stone, it will have ground (blue) support. So you can build stone or poles super high, and then build a wooden house up there with same support as if it was on solid ground
Let's hear it
I just need to share my experience for a sec because I'm super pissed off right now and I'm sure somebody here can relate. So I've been looking for a 2 star wolf for about 200 in game days now, very unlucky, I know. I finally found one and was getting ready to put it in the hole I tamed a 1 star in, and low and behold a Drake comes by to try and kill me, I think to myself, "Oh, just gotta take care of this guy real quick." But I wasn't fast enough and another regular wolf comes to try and kill me too, I'm in a bit of a situation having -%20 movement speed while being chased down. I thought I had enough health but no, I die and when I come back it's about to become day. In fact the 2 star began running away from me and it managed to run in front of a bunch of boars and deer temporarily stopping it, as I tried to bring it back, it ended up killing me again.
I am so unbelievably angry right now, I'm thinking of just spawning it back in, but it feels so cheap. But at the same time can you blame me?? Idk sorry for putting a wall here I really just wanted to share this.
From what I remember correctly, Flametal Ore was able to be processed long before the Ashlands update. And it required a blast furnace. So in addition to the two iron ingots I'll need for the stone cutter, I'll need to bring 6 copper for a forge, and 10 more iron ingots for the blast furnace. I'll also need to bring the finewood I need for the furnace, since I can't imagine there's a way to get my hands on that in thr Ashlands
is it possible to have only one beam of iron wood supporting a whole tower
It's your game experience - spawn it back in if you like. It's up to you if it cheapens your experience
Oh yeah can relate. I've been trying to find a 2* to lure for a while now. They never spawn when I want them
Not sure how much of a spoiler you want, but you won't need to process it there if you don't want to
uerghergj I'm gonna wait a few more ingame days before I actually re-spawn it. I legitimately gasped so hard it hurt when I saw it just because of how long I've been trying to find one
You will definitely want a little iron and copper, though
I've just been deciding to go to the mountain every night, check the spawn locations, see if there is one, and if there isn't I just go back home lol
actually I've changed that to two mountains
200 in-game days is crazy
im at 280-ish something and at plains and i couldnt tolerate my 4 day search to find yagluth
man i found yagluths spawn by complete accident
Most do.
Wait till night, go back to the same mountain and spawn in 2 hostile 2 star wolves. If you can tame them then you deserve it 😉
I was going in my part of the world in our server and got trapped in a plains biome by a gjall(?) in a mistlands right next to it, just ended up seeing the place
does breaking a battering ram drop its ingredients?
also, are the devs aware of the floating-on-flametal vein bug?
Yeah, you get the ingredients if you break it
and I'd hope they're aware of the floating/falling on flametal issue
yep they are
can we put the crystal enchants from ashlands on the magic staffs?
No
good to know
so if i offer the eikthyr tropyh what happens ?
lots of screen shaking
Only one way to find out
susge
you will be able to access his power 🙂
rather skibidi
the thing is, the map has resetted since i killed it, so idk where it is 😭
you have to offer his head at spawn tho 😄
if you didn't pick it up, it most likely despawned already
yes
no way thats amazing
Has to be a fairly narrow tower though, with the pillar going all the way up through it
If I built a island base and I moved the crafting benches from the edges will the building decay or just lock me out of the edting the edge
lock out of editing
what is the chances of thor or some other god being a boss in this game?
we already have thor in game 😉 just not as a boss
really?
Yeah look up during thunderstorms. Also he is the reason the obliterator works in game and it sends messages from him depending on what you do
also Odin is watching you from shadows from time to time 😄
but you can see Thor only after you have beaten Moder
thats really cool
If you pull the lever on the obliterator with nothing in it it says "Thor is disappointed"
If you pull the lever with enough items in it to make coal, it says "A gift from Thor!" Or something to that effect
And it gets struck by lightning
but a god boss is better in my opnion
I hope Odin is the final boss
Yeah I get ya. I think the context of the game is that the Norse gods are allies though
You are helping them by destroying their enemies
quick question what is a obliterator?
How rare are hare trophies? I've hunted enough to feed Africa twice and they haven't dropped a single one lol
well, kinda, you are there to kill odins enemies 😄
garbage bin
5% drop chance
It's something you build to destroy excess items and turn em to coal
Destroys items, if you put enough in it turns them to coal
Just make sure it has open sky and space or it destroys whatever is above/around it
Trophies have a 1:1 ratio... other things is something like 25%
if you want to learn more about it and dont mind some potential spoilers you can look here 🙂 https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Obliterator
wood 5:1, arrows 20:1 and anything else 10:1
i really want to get in this part of the game now
Why would anyone obliterate woods or arrows...I mostly toss in my trollhides, pukeberries and ancient seeds
it's literally just a big trash can. the ratios of resources and materials you put into it compared to the amount of coal you get are absolutely not worth it (with the exception of maybe excess stacks of trophies)
eh, idk, i just toss there anything i dont have space for in storage
I throw trophies in too... don't need 50 greydwarf heads lol
another quick question how the boats works?
you put it on water and you will have a little dial where you see where wind is comming from
Pretty much the same way as magnets. Insane Clown Posse got you covered. 😛
You use the rudder to move about. Press forward a couple times to set sail but if you need to travel against the wind don't use the sail and just very slowly paddle...
folks in #mods-discussion will pobably know 😄
i am too dumb to undestand the boats
Thx 🙂
try it over and over again and you will figure it out eventualy 😄
i will try that
No you're not. You just haven't played with it enough.
What do you not get
Wow. Shocker.
Always does
as it does us all XD
Welcome to Valheim
The wind is your enemy, always.
the fun thing about that is the name of character is WindGrey
Okay, dead raiser is at level 3
Now to find a graydwarf spawner and afk my blood magic level to 100 for the ultimate magic barrier so I can then finally take on The Queen
So i have a server that has like 10 people playing it. Are there going to be enough fortresses to to supply the group with gems so everyone can upgrade gear?
or will gems be a really rare commodity?
depends on how much people want to craft and your luck with the gems
so far we have beaten like 6 fortresses
That's cool if you're going to solo it. In my experience, the best prep for The Queen is getting a friend to join you.
i would not count on that everyone will be able to make every weapon, but i think it should be enough for everyone to have at least one weapon, quite possibly few more
alright, good to know
ty
but take my words with grain of salt, i dont have near enough experience with ashlands to be all knowing XD i am trying to piece info from what i heard from other people here on discord
yeah, we have beaten like 6 forts so far and everyone is fighting over the limited gems. haha
was just curious if it would stay that way or not
I suspect it will
ok
we dont have really any info on that, we will have to wait and see
alright, i will let you all know what we find out then. I guess i am just curious what the average amount of forts there are in a world
think there are always 20
Average is 20 fortresses per world. With 10 players that's 2 forts worth of gems per player, or in other words maybe 1 or 2 upgraded weapons, if you're lucky enough to get the gems you want.
ah, thats the info i was looking for
yep, makes sense
thank you everyone
I'm not 100% on there always being 20, but I think someone said that earlier
you need to insert 3/4 of the morons who hold the sea and sometimes you come across them with a ship, they don't have to be very strong but you just need to take an item from the roads
morons=npc
I'm going to regret asking, but why would you refer to NPCs as morons?
i am just checking few seeds in world generator, got one seed with 19 (i counted like 4 times) but from then 20 every time, so it seems it was correct info 🙂
Im returning to the game for Ashlands, im sure noone cares but I have to say, Hildirs request is the worst content in the entire game. The cosmetics could not be any more disappointing and I was really hoping for some fun vikings cosmetics
Disappointing? Like 20 new items plus their stat bonus?
pirats
That's not a word.
I disagree wholeheartedly. To me, worst content implies it actively makes your experience worse. It's totally ignorable. Also the clothes have utility for building
Ashlands isn't that impressive by itself and most servers seem to die out once people hit mistlands
I was right. I'm sorry I engaged.
Question:
Is it worth to upgrade the Ashfang to lvl 2 and leave it like that, or should I stick to lvl 1 and upgrade it with the lightning gem (twice) instead to have the best effect of it?
Ashfang has 50 points of durability at level 1, which means it will break very quickly. I would upgrade it early if you plan to use it with any regularity
pirates
Unless you mean you have everything you need already and then I would craft it with the gem you want and upgrade it
They're not cosmetics only, and they are viking-themed
yes, yield multiplier does impact items obtained from fishing, but not de feesh.
What do the clothes do?
I think they could have a better passive; it's, what, 20% decrease and ONLY for building? Including farming or other "home" tasks might actually make it worth it to wear them.
It does personally make my experience worse, I went on grand adventures for some repeating sets of pajamas with different colors, the stats to help with building is so minimal it hurts, I rather keep wearing my actual armor in case of a random event, thus providing no cool cosmetics, or use to me
Thing is that I don't have the gem yet, that it in general is doing less spirit dmg compared to the spinesnap with less durability, meaning that only the pierce dmg (which is basically useless against the Ashen skellies) is better.
Plus that I read that upgrading the weapon with a gem will put it back at tier 1, so I feel that upgrading is kinda wasting resources.
Nothing anyone can do about it
I'm terribly sorry that your day got worse from playing the quest. Hope things get better for you
Not everyone feels the same and even more, a lot of people did want those things
Alongside the very gameplay-changing world modifiers
It does feel lackluster after doing all the minibosses--almost feels more appropriate if those quests are what you did to unlock the other content gated stuff like Ymir Flesh/Eggs/Fishingpole
Yes, it will put it back at level 1. If you prefer upgraded spinesnap, I would hold off on upgrading ashfang then
World Modifiers are great despite me not using any I didnt know they came with hildirs request so I wont say the whole update is bad but personally I dont like what Hildir herself adds, the good is the minibosses, the bad is the cosmetics, which cant even be worn alongside your armor, I was hoping for something like the barber station to allow you to equip cosmetics over your armor, and actually have fun cosmetics
I like the extra raids you can get as part of Hildr's stuff
An armor cosmetic swap would feel more in-line
Yeah that's fair. My point was just that it does have utility. There are plenty of game design choices I don't agree with in the game but I generally just mod those annoyances out if they reach a threshold. I enjoyed sailing about to raid the dungeons, though. The clothing wasn't really a motivator for me
I'd also be down for more Building Decorative pieces
pallette swaps and such for various housing items. if we stick with cosmetic rewards.
Fair.
But either way, that's the whole point of hildir's request, if you don't like them, don't do them. Simple as that.
Haldor sells very useful items, megingjord being the most important one, and people frustrate themselves into finding him as a result.
Adding another trader that does something similar would've have improved anything, it would make things worse. By adding functional and very useful things, players would force themselves into actively look for those things
if Hildir simply added something like painting wood walls and such it would all be worth it
I've also been somewhat underwhelmed by the rewards for doing Hildr's quests; I don't usually bother doing them actually
A treasure chest item, similar to the ones we find, or crafting blueprint for reskinning our weapons, or a way to paint the walls, engrave the walls, etc.
Hildir's clothing reduces stamina use for the hammer, cultivator and hoe by 40% with the full set, which is pretty significant.
We get three different chests from Hildir.
Quick question
Do graydwarf spawners really need a pillar holding them up?
Also the raids are a nice way of getting stuff that are normally locked behind progression, like the fuling raids.
After yag is defeated the raids stop happening, which are a good way of getting black metal. And the fuling mini boss raid can also spawn starred fulings
as a placeable item?
Yes.
them cultist trophies too
What's more, they can spawn anywhere, even ashlands.
Seeing fulings invade ashlands and fight everything is truly a sight
Right.
I've crafted one already but I will hold off upgrading it until I find the desired gem.
Thanks for the advice. 🙂
She has multiple locations for each dungeon. You take the first one to her, but you can raid the other dungeons and bring the chests home. She tells you they're forgeries if you try to return multiple of the same to her.
I dont see it in her wares
It's literally the chest you get in the quest.
ah I see.
No
I meant as a buildable piece
You don't need to build it.
thank you, @vocal rivet I'm aware. I'm just talking about general unlockable cosmetic things (for example a chest, but not the only example)
Once you get the Ashlands portals they might be a bit more accessible for decoration 😉
Personally im in no rush to build or farm, ill take my sweet time and id still rather just wear my armor cause it looks cool and is immediately ready in case of an attack
Gems are limited enough, I would test the weapons in a creative world to see what you really like and go for that
Good, good
Also, unrelated to my inquiry, but I think I'm worried about my skelly archer potentially destroying the graydwarf nest
I just make sure I get no archers. They only spawn 20% of the time. I make a pit and have the skeletons in there
They do, they will be destroyed if there's no ground
the original discussion was about how it felt that the rewards for hidlir's was lackluster, I was just tossin around some ideas
Cover it with walls
No they won't. I have one in my world right now without it
Can maybe put some walls around it, or burying it with a hoe. Burying draugr body piles works very well to protect them
And I had one that was destroyed the second I removed ground below it
anyone else use brute trophies as flowerpots
i just checked and look at ss channel. Does this mean we have 75?
I never thought about burying them.
And I haven't seen anyone else doing it.
who trolled me >:::( nothing happens if i try and put the eikthyr trophy onto the alter
Ah, walls, thank you
I'll try to get rid of any archers I summon in my attempt to get rid of my archer
gotta put it where you spawned (stones of power)
The archers are the best choices for greydwarf farming. Just use walls
im pretty sure tha game said somethin else
Unfortunately no, every world has 20 max it seems
how XDD
Aim at the hook
ooooooooooooooo thats so dope
i think this game has me hooked
i just wanna buuuuuuuuuild
So much wood... so much wood and stone...
Ahahaha.... AHAHAHAHA
THIS FEELS SO GOOD
But... how much black marble do you have? 😛
Is there anyone how has some spare pine seeds?
What?
Anyone who has spare pine tree seeds
Sapplins to plant Pine trees
(Im not asking, just relaying the message)
Pine Cone
Spawn them with devcommands (https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Console_Commands)
Trading with others in this game is pointless
Oh trading is not a common thing?
it's quicker, easier, more direct just to spawn things in
Nope, because it's very easy to simply spawn stuff and wouldn't really change anything (as whatever anything someone trades with you could've been spawned anyway)
Okey i didnt know, thanks guys!
So, how do i spawn it in?
I linked you the instructions on how to enable devcommands and how to use them above
itemset [name] [keep], that one?
In your case:
||spawn pinecone X||
X is the amount you want, 1 is default is you don't put anything
Spawn is not valid in the current context
Did you enable devcommands first?
Yes
Does it say "devcommands: enabled"?
Open it and just type devcommands and then enter
(as in, press enter key, not type it)
That was it, thanks bro
Out of any item in the game to spawn, you need pine cones?
any news on galdr table lvl5 incoming soon?
I'd imagine along with Deep North.
Some people want gems, some people want 2 star wolves, and some people just want pine cones I guess
odin going to observe me and just seeing me build things for days on end
Who approved the design for the Ashlands metal cape?
It clips all over the place, clips through nearly every helmet, clips through your legs, clips through ITSELF, and looks like it's at 1.5x scale because it's too broad, too long.
That's awful.
i find it kinda funny most bosses are optional
u got any flesh rippers u can give me?
Almost as if it was glitched and not meant to clip through things...
It's literally designed to cover your mouth and keep the ash getting in.
I can spawn some in for you if you want
please
I’ll be on in a little bit
alright just @ me when u are able to give it ty
I just found out that you can increase sneak skill by sneaking around a greydwarf nest
With no dwarfs around
@blazing mesa
here, how do i join ur world to get it?
one sec
okay
Honestly, I haven't joined people much before. But I'm gonna try and make a server and dm you the name and password, then I think you can search for it
alright we'll see if it works
sent the msg
Finally... Long live the Queen...
nah, much better to just murder all the royalty
Okay, time to get the finewood and yggdrasil wood I need so I can reach the Ashlands
And the materials needed to create a portal, along with a stack of bones
And the materials for a shield generator
Yeah, I already have iron and copper ingots
If you're planning on clearing an area before you put the shield generator up though you won't need the stack of bones because you're going to end up with heaps of charred bones which you can feed the shield generator with
Hmm, interesting, thank you very much
How... ornery can I expect the welcoming party waiting for me at the shore to be?
The orneriest
Should I expect my colossal ship to be destroyed?
Yes
Think of it like landing in swamp gear straight into a huge fuling village in a karve
I wouldn't expect the ship to be destroyed, but there's usually a big fight when you land
frost arrow good for plaints?
Frost arrow good
For everywhere
yes. Good for any biome but mountain really
for moder good fire
Goddammit
Hopefully I'll be able to get by with a melee setup and not have to rely on magic
I miss meleeing enemies
Maybe fire resistance wines will also be needed so that I can survive the hellfire myself
Ahh, a very apt descriptor of what it will be like, thank you very much for that
And unlike this, no root harnesk to save me there
Fire resistance won't do anything to stop you dying to lava
Also you'll need a ranged option for the fallen valkyries, their hitboxes are just tedious to deal with with melee
surprisingly little fire damage :/
Magic is by far easiest but melee possible. Aoe wepapons like 2h hammers, atgeir, or maybe just a sword since it has no cleave penalty can be good
I found one just now! I caught it and it's starting to be tamed, finally 😭
That's fine, I have my arbalest and/or a spinebow
👍
needle arrow good for?
Shooting enemies
Frost is resisted by lox I think and pretty sure they're weak to pierce, or at least neutral
arrows with pierce damage (obsidian, needle, etc.) are just kind of for all around use. Against enemies not resistant to them they tend to get the highest damage
Frost slows enemies (very useful) and does better damage against enemies that are resistant to pierce (a lot of enemies are in mistlands and ashlands)
But all other enemies on the plains do not resist frost and it slows enemies
neutral yea
Also you're going to get a billion deathsquito spikes that have very little other use so needle arrows are great for being incredibly cheap
Frost arrows and Needle are both good in Plains. After Plains frost arrows kinda take over
Alright, will the shield generator allow me to create wood structures without them catching on fire from the Ashlands' atmosphere?
whats that mod called where a bunch of people came together and overhauled valheim into a massive rpg
Why would you want to create wooden structures?
Because I'll need a workbench to create the shield generator
...wait, nevermind, that sounds like a catch 22

Based on the fact that I've had a workbench up under a shield generator for a few ingame weeks without it burning down
I'm going to tentatively say "Yes?"
confirmed
But even if you build a workbench it doesn't just die instantly it has to catch fire which I think needs either it to be hit with a fire based attack or be in the "Fire Rain" weather event (Is that a weather event?)
That was Glads vision iirc. Search: Valheim adventure map
it’s going to be a warzone until you kill every enemy in the spawn queue
Prepare yourself
Jokes on you the enemies cheat and just get back in the spawn queue as soon as you kill them
at least for up to 30 minutes
until your Rest goes, thats for sure
If you don't mind a minor spoiler
||SEE RED GLOW KILL RED GLOW SHOOT RED GLOW ROCK WITH ARROW HIT WITH SWORD STUPID SPAWNER GO STRAIGHT TO HELL||
What's the plant in the swamp and what dose it look like
Turnips and it has yellow flowers, it's annoying to find because it doesn't spawn in water
its usually behind a tree that you pass by and never notice
Welp, if I'm gonna be needing AOE, then it seems like I'll be sticking with magic for a little longer
YES turnips
is magic really all that good?
Yes magic is probably the best form of combat in valheim
nah, nothing compares to a trusty sword
1.) you can shoot up and down
2.) there's aoe
Yepp
you can't trust a sword to swing at an enemy 3cm lower than you
sword dps much better
Also because you're doing elemental damage pretty much everything is weak or at least neutral to some of the damage you're doing
combo is ultra mega
I dream of being strong enough to 3-tap a 2 star morgen
cope and seethe, swords are mediocre at best
Whereas with physical damage so SO many things are resistant to slash/blunt/pierce
and I say that as someone who really wants to like swords
sword, mace...w/e. trusty weap
Especially in the mistlands where you pick up magic for the first time
Can the new gems be equipped to spears
Ah fuck, I just learned the mechanical spring is used for a black forge upgrade
Can you craft/build maypoles yet? <_< Or am I just missing something to make it?
You can, yep
Nice! I must be missing a flower thanks 🙂
Oh, and portals, can't forget those
I'm not saying its the player.... but its the player
Embers does a good amount as a stacking DoT. Frost staff is higher raw DPS/ more eitr efficient
And yes, skill level is important
Hey yall, I have the ability to visit the ashlands for the first time, but I am honestly terrified to do so. Anyone have any suggestions?
Do not be scared, be bold.
dies
Don't need a shield. Wood structures are generally fine in Ashlands short of mobs besieging your base
I mean... that's generally what people do. nothing wrong with that
that is true
however my main goal is preferably not to do so
will I be overwhelmed with charred if I just go onto land? Like how many of them are there
yes
well thats reassuring
Could be a good idea to bring some AoE weapons. Mage does very well. Don't forget to use mobs against each other (you'll see what I mean) 😉
yea himmin afl OP
I've yet to continue using that 😦
It's been collecting dust in favor of my carapace spear, then my magic
a shotgun would work here
the shotgun is actually quite good with high skill especially
Most enemies resist to pierce
yeah but it should stagger im hoping
yea it does fine. Still staggers and deals great damage. It also has the lightning component which nothing resists
Effectively, Mistwalker is the best melee weapon at early and mid ash
im bringing a friend who has Mistwalker
Very good
just up to playstyle
Effectively, no playstyle
Talking about Numbers and situations
wish me luck o7
try the deer power
Bonemass is absolutely Peak at ALL biomes
moving around & aoe is primary in Ash, deer lets you marathon
Btw what difficult your world is set? @willow venture
suplement bonemass power by dodging
Bonemass and Eikthyr can be very useful. Other boss powers feel more situational to me
eikthyr with the feather cape & a fire pot On. Run & Jump like a madman
ah fooie, shouldve done more research, our boat burned away and left us to fight a bonemaw lmao, we killed it but now we stuck
wait around , another will show up
Bros are NOT checking undone bench upgrades

not sure how to troll my brother when he joins to see Ashlands 1st. I`ll take him by boat initially. Im Mistlands i took him towards a Gjall and told him to hide under it for protection.. Any ideas?
Go on a raft
nah, thats to obvious. He will get excited with the new boat
Tell him there's friendly bigger versions of necks that he can ride on if he walks up and presses right click
still have 5 days to think on this
hes suspicious now, after 3 biomes of trickeries
Alternate approach: Don't tell him anything and let the biome trick him by itself
the fire could prove useful somehow
Say something about morgen hole, and say its abandoned or there is nothing there
Quick, hide in that hole, go!
(Some holes are really abandoned)
Best death experience in ashland, while naked trying to get my gear back, i was watching my friends fighting the mobs to clear the way. Was watching "in the water".. learned a good lesson that day.
if it works one time, even better
