It should be near a dyrnwyn part
whats that
Is there a building near that spawner?
Come back when you can, and find more of these places with vegvisirs in putrid holes
Yes, I think you need to break it
thanks, ill definitely go back to check it out
Remember to find the others once youβre done there
staff of fracturing is excellent IF you can stack firedamage
You can get 300+ damager per second if you time it right
Of course, all the bloody mobs in ashlands are fire resistant, so staff of fracturing is good in any biome except the biome you get the materials to craft it
whether the hits are separate or timed to be close together, the total damage is gonna be the same
Thanks π appreciate ya
Well... not a single death with landing to Ashlands, yet. Have managed to destroy nearby spawner, raised the ground 5m high in good amount of area, shield, portal and a crafting bench up. Don't really see this attempt failing despite of the game making attempts to make it fail... oh and hard it does try.
Is ||staff of fracturing|| a good option to rush? seems like the first staff I can make here
just dont expect too much of some ashwood and charred bones
for the price its good enough
just hoping for something a bit better for dealing with these things.
works good for askivins, but the charred are resistant to fire it seems
No, the fire damage stacks.
The way the staff is designed you are firing a small cluster of lava bombs at a target
you need to hit ALL of the bombs in rapid succession to maximise the damage - each little bomb applies a set amount of damage and expires after a short period
The more of the bombs that actually hit the target the more damage you are stacking
Staff of embers does amount of fire damage - most of it's power is in blunt
when we say fire damage stacks, we just mean that separate hits tick independent of each other (and their ticks add together in the display) there's no multiplication going on, DoT damage types in valheim are a lot less special and unique than people think.
It's not multiplying no, but it is more damage going through IF the target is more suceptable to fire damage than blunt for example
In ashlands, use the staff of embers - blunt damage is better than fire
If in another biome such as mistlands - use staff of fracturing
nothing so far indicates a benefit to doing it in quick succession though
Other than applying more fire damage more quickly?
that goes for all damage in the game though?
if you do 2 fire attacks for 20 damage each immediately after one another, it's gonna end up with the same total damage as you'd get if you waited a full minute between the two
Staff of fractuing is good IF you can work on landing ALL your lava clusters that you are shooting out
No, it does not multiply the damage, no it does not produce some magical bonus damage
But the main thing is that the staff is good - you just have to land ALL of the lava blobs rather than thinking of the thing as a cluster bomb where each little bit of shrapnel is decent on it's own
dont yall love it when you go in plaines and try to build your new base and an horde gets here and destroy everything in progress? (its happening to me atm)
yea, i just thought you meant speed was a factor here (which, i mean, it always is, but that's not exclusive to the staff)
Gotta love how Ashlands is making up for the lack of enemies in all other biomes combined...
can i still mine around the whole copper vein and it just falls
The mob spawns r a bit absurd atm canβt really take like 2 steps without having to fight an entire invasion force of monsters kinda gets annoying at a certain point
it calmed down just a little bit once I took out the nearby spawner, but still have to spend far more time fighting than establishing a proper base that doesn't get destroyed by a stray fart
Me and my friends took over a charred fortress took a combined death toll of roughly 30-50 deaths from all of us to just kill a 1 Star warlock bc the minion spam was real
Now imagine fighting 2x 2* Warlocks, 2* Marksman, 2x 2* Twitchers, 3x Asksvins and an endless horde of minions and unstarred charred simultaneously, solo π That was my experience last night thanks to ||Dyrnwyn spawner||
go mage build, throw 2 trolls, vines and watch from distance
Me personally, I like sticking to one build per character for the most part. It is pretty rough though without any magic in Ashlands but doable
Playing heavy armor build with 1hand weapon and normal shield for parries
you can use magic build for that instance only but hey you do you gl
I find spell sword seems to be the best way to play
how many frost caves would you have to fully loot to get all the fenris hair for the fully upgraded set? thats 150
if you're lucky, four
unlucky, can be 8
Yo does anyone have any mod reccomendations that optimize the game?
ah thats fine ty. was hoping it wouldnt be like 20 or something xd
if you're lucky with cultist rooms, you can get a lot
always shoot anything that resembles to hair
Tried one from thunderstore but it crashes my game every time i use it
do mobs respawn in infested mines and frost caves after you kill them?
no
Only in mines
alr ty
oh also I'm 1400 coins short of a 2nd egg to start breeding chickens. I just defeated yagluth. whatd be a fast way to get those coins?
not mods but you can try this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6IBkMW39egU
I noticed that hosting multiplayer tanks my fps from 80-100 to 40 so im looking of ways to best optimize without the game looking bad
Fulings
well this is pain... the moment you try to cut down some trees enemies be flooding from everywhere
I got 2 Dyrnwin and wasnt that hard, you can just use Bonemass and spawn 2 trolls to break the spawner
Btw i got many Lucky finding Lord Reto Without vegvisir
You can use a ranged weapon to break a spawner from a distance where it wonβt spawn anything
So any word on a post launch update?
I had a new raid that didn't really go to plan.
It was something like "she is in pursuit" or something
But as I was in Ashlands nothing actually happen...
I was about to storm a fort so just went head, as I slaughtered everything I noticed a named Skeleton from the Smouldering tomb was just chilling inside π
die pretty quick with everyone else though haha
I preffer using trollstav, they break the Grausten structure + the spawner
and can beat some 2 star Twitchers
Ye Brenna is very underpowered, idk what devs was thinking with Hildir Request, you need to find her First and progress killing Boss + Minibosses or its a late game thing?
Trollstav seems to be the devs answer to getting the Sap Extractor from Dvergr
Summoning them doesn't agro dvergr in Mistlands and its just fun to watch
i like to keep Dvergr near, they can beat Soldiers and G'jall
I think you have to defeat them first
its definitely a late game thing, the chill raids are very hard
1* and 2* fenring and a ice cultist will definitely kill you fast with low end gear
which spawn proofing things do not burn?
anything not wood XD
Campfires
rare, haven't seen it myself yet
Yeah
he was guarding the vegvisir
i have over 1k hours in valheim and its the first time i see this
he was guarding a fishing rod too
Been a thing since frost caves
fishing rod thingy too?
Yes
lol what an easter egg
Both are very rare
I was promised death in Ashland, yet I still stand alive. Well, still plenty of time to die, but almost done fully securing my beach base
It's arguable whether you can find a fishing rod or the trader first
Could be even a good basis for a bet
i found it before trader
haha
a bit sad it wasnt a vegvisir he was guarding, it was a runestone, but cool messsage
now i met geirrhafa
It seems i have been quite lucky then π i have encountered both multiple times already
Can anyone who has bought the game soundtrack recently confirm if they have the songs from disc 1 mixed up? Most of the songs I play from steam are not the ones I play when using the files directly.
Meadows - A place to rest plays Elder's theme for example
Nothing more relaxing than an epic orchestra blasting while you're cooking in meadows apparently
Sometimes i love to listen to music from other games while playing Valheim.
Witcher 1-3
Kingdom Come
Fable
just to name a few.
Valheim music can become repetitive after a while, but its still nice nonetheless.
||Root Fang|| vs ||Storm Fang||, thoughts?
The latter. The proc isnt reliable enough to make for good cc but extra damage never hurts
Also, the music from the mistlands animated trailer is not here ;-; I was kinda expecting that one
Alright, was just thinking the ||Root Fang|| might also be nice when pulling mobs to maybe get an extra shot or two in before going melee if it happens to proc
Hopefully not anytime soon considering I just bought it in steam
Death map markers should stay off once you disable the icon
i mean from being shown on the map
cause once you exit the game and join again they reappear
or just remove them?
nah
that seems like a you problem then
imho you should remove them first, then click the icon to have them not showing up on your map to make sure they're gone.
And if / when you use the cartography table, make sure you updated that as well; otherwise they will return over and over again.
I just want to hide them, not remove them
If you decide to do something.
Whom else is the responsibility?
You're complaining about a problem that already has a solution that you refuse to use...
You can do it by right clicking the button thingy on the map but they reappear if you exit the game and join again
If you dont have an answer, please please dont respond.
I dont know why people do this
I did have an answer.
That's why I responded
That is literally an answer
Have you tried to hide them and then update your cartography table to see if they appear again after entering the game again?
Will try, thanks
They do.
And the "problem" is not using a solution. Literally nothing anyone can do
Imagine not taking responsibility for your actions...
But can't bother anymore as I've seen this kind plenty of times to know where it goes
With all due respect, but you shouldn't have replied to this in the first place if you already know where it ends.
Sometimes avoiding a "problem" is a better solution as trying to deal with it.
Hey guys - how should I go about making a band new world play group?
-We don't need a 24/7 server I don't think - my schedule is pretty easy to move around if I host
-I'm decent at the game, made it to defeat the Area 4 mountain boss, but mostly want a group based in Europe to play a few times a week at a relaxed pace. Perhaps eventually meeting up IRL.
oh - and I want to play essentially vanilla+
Couple of quality of life / automation methods to speed up some of the grind, having gone through it the slow way before
I think you may have more luck if you post that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
ok thanks
Merhaba aktif tΓΌrkk oyuncular bana ulaΕabilir mi?
Please, use English only in this discord.
Okay, sorry bro.
is there any way to increase attack speed with Atgeir? and do all Atgeirs have same ataack speed?
They all have the same speed. If you want a faster weapon, try a knife or spear.
So trenches are good in Ashlands or t-800 knockoffs can also walk over them?
We try to make fast base, then quickly move towards fort
A trench should work but be careful with any lava you'll have to lower
Thanks, it's just near the beach
does the lava generate below the ground, or is it just below what's visible on the surface?
Lava can be raised and lowered like other terrain with a pickaxe and hoe
Still Dvergr going full Rambo on them was kino
oh, so it doesn't flow?
Lava is a type of terrain like paths so it IS the ground
ahhh, interesting
So we could brick lava?
afaik, only flametal beams/pillars can be built directly on the lava (I haven't played the biome yet)
Will have to do some tests and see if I can cheese it somehow
Catapults are good enough idea for metal ores
youll die in one or two hits
ive got the root harnesk also that ill be using, saw it in a scrappy video lol
Could be fun, use arrows and ooze bombs for goblins
Silver armor is better, why not use that?
i originally came to the plains after i beat bonemass cuz it was right next to it and i had an abomination chasing me
the abom killed quite a few things for me and i was able to collect some of the materials kinda early
but all i have available to craft are black metal shields D:
sorry i do have the wolf set actually i didnt mean to say iron
You need to find a fuling camp for flax to make more
You'll also find barley for food
i had a bunch of flax seeds and i wasted it all lmao
i tried planting them in meadows with my other stuff
Is there no recipe that make use of volture meat?
Question for those that play no map. How does modors power work at that point? Like can you still see wind direction or is it a guess really?
there is
unfortunately no, but it is a good food as is, tho it uses quite a bit of carry weight
cant you see like particles in the air? otherwise if using moder power then you dont have to worry at all
yea the general air wind lines i figured was the only clue in no map, but I wasnt sure if you still got the wind compass in no map or not.
considering starting a no map run with a friend and was just curious what tools change with that other than the obvious.
When sailing that'll tell you the direction of the wind without a minimap anyway will it not?
when i start a server, it just stays on loading any fix
Verify game files if on steam, if on xbox check ur storage
question, do you guys think there will be more xpacs after the North one?
Are there pirates or enemy ships in the ocean?
thank you, this was i think the answer i was looking for. I wasnt sure if that sailing wind direction would be there or not in no map.
stonecutter mats to build new portal, then you can go back and bring whatever you need.
you dont need that, after you find materials for it you can go with them to your base, make the stone portal there and you can take any metal you want back to ashlands if needed
it tooks us 4hrs to find 2 iron in Ashlands
easier to just take 2 iron with you
Friend, great food, ton of frost/silver arrows
ill just bring it. dosnt make sense not to
why find it in ashlands? take it from your base
that's what I just said
through the portal
you can't build the new portal without first going to Ashlands
i never said you could
omg...
taking iron with you the first time you go in ashlands just to get the new portal down there is entirely unnecesseary, you dont have any guatantee that you will find the materials for it anyway, and after you do its so easy to get them to your main base and take some iron back to ashlands if you really want it there
the mats for stone portal and so basic you just need one cave but it requires a stone cutter. Taking 2 iron saves another trip to Ashlands
what trip? you have portals
how you gonna get the portal without iron
he doesn't know the mechanism very well
you know that one way metal porting works right?
You can take the portal mats through normal portal and then build it at your home, stone portals connects to wood portals
the new portals can transport metals that's why taking 2 iron to build a stonecutter is so useful
and ocupies one more slot that could be used for something else...
leave it asatru, they'll find it after a little bit of playing what we meant to say
oh dear
btw thats coming from a guy that takes cultivator everywhere, that much of waste of space i consider it...
yes but you can't build that portal until you get to Ashlands and finding iron in Ashland isn't easy lol
you dont need find any iron in ashlands...
I know you just take 2 with you lol
Always take iron for a stone cutter.
no, you just have it in your base and when you find materials for the stone portal you take the stone portal home so you can port iron to ashlands π
yes or you can take 2 iron with you since its not really that much
Asatru is correct that its not totally necessary to bring iron with you because of the one-way portal mechanic. BUT I still would because a stone cutter is supremely useful for establishing a foothold base in the Ashlands.
There are so many slots in the Drakkar that filling them is actually hard anyway
i have no issue about quantity, it just takes up another slot you can use for the many new materials you will find in ashlands
I just got this game any tips?
if you leave it in drakkar then i have no issue with it, maybe just that you will have to go back to it when you want to use it π
Plus building stairs into the citadels is probably the easiest way to clear them. Its what I am going to do, anyways.
Personally, I filled my Drakkar with stone, iron, copper, wood, a spare portal, some black marble - basically all the materials to get a foothold base with a shield generator operational
Honestly, leaving the Drakkar before you have a half-decently protected foothold is a recipe for disaster anyway
I understand what you're saying, take a standard portal, find molten cores, go back home, build a new stone portal take some iron, go back, build another stone portal...whala!
OR take two iron...
We play immersive and we needed about four stacks of iron for base amenities
actually thats exactly what i did (btw that was at the ptb start so there was much more mobs around) and it is staying there to this day XD
where'd you set up your emergency portal?
like 100 meters away? π€ not really sure how far it is
so you like to live dangerously. Surviving a 100 meter trek inland is not exactly a sure thing π
well i had a bit of motivation behind me XD
My initial landing in the Ashlands was chased by a Bonemaw and ran smack into a swarm of voltures, Charred, and a Morgen for good measure. Thankfully I dropped a portal on an island just offshore
and it was around the coast mostly, not really inland π
My landing was somewhat more peaceful. I was given enough time to setup a shield, portal and summon 3 skellies... those skeletons did not last long with a shield. Was swarmed right away by the normies, nothing special yet. Started raising the ground every time I had a moment of peace... but at some point shit hit the fan for real. A horde of normies suddenly accompanied by bone noodle attacking my ship, birbs ambushing from behind, Morgen charged in from the front and Asksvins coming from flanks. Felt like a miracle I survived that somehow
The trip from sea border to coast was not peaceful tho. had to kill 4 noodles and many flocks of birbs
need skeleton upgrade that turns them into demons
At very least something less useless
stared or green would be cool
alternatively, probably should try to grind that blood magic to 70+, then they should be good enough
with strong shield and higher damage, surely they can get something done
It honestly blows my mind this game is as affordable as it is. The amount of updates and constant work they've put in over the past years is insane. I've never come back to a game as many times as I have with Valheim & it's 100% on track to eventually become one of my most played games.
This is honestly what games should be. Passion projects and every biome isn't another paid dlc.
Yet some people find a way to complain how it's one of the slowest progressing games ever, while I also see the complete opposite
I suppose some people are just used to more frequent updates that barely add anything at all and when they see 1 big update in relatively long time, instantly assume they're getting less despite of getting far more in 1 big update
So many other early access games that I've played just make far slower progress and often do not add sufficiently new stuff to get me interedted again
Welcome to Ashlands π€£
Mine was at around 84 when I entered and they could go toe to toe with the charred fairly comfortably
Buuut askvins, morgens, starred enemies and the lava aren't so friendly
At least elemental magic is making good progress, just hit 40, went in with about 30
If i was to get a staff without reaching the mistlands , am i still able to use it?
You need eitr food, either from mistlands or ashlands so no
the ground started shaking no trolls spawned and the shaking went away
that was not cool
Maybe its cuz u fell to the ground
lol , it was implyin he was thiccc
Bruh you missed a chance on yo mama joke
i was putting coal in my kiln at the time :(
im not that fat im severely underweight
since we're trying to do boss battles as a group, I was chasing down some of Hildir's quests, not knowing they then enter the raid rotation. I was alone in our village when the brothers showed up....
Wait what, what's going on? campfires that are within a shield are still at 1/10 despite of me putting them down significantly earlier than these new ones outside of the shield, they run out of fuel really quick outside of it
yay day 100
Maybe the shield draws part of its power from the ones within it
if anyone uses "seasonality mod" is there a way to disable its texture?
Just hit 1730 myself
I think you find more help in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
I just noticed that vineberry could be a viable option for 3rd food for a mage. 30 to all 3 resources might be just what I'd need to give myself a small boost
Question: has anybody else noticed that all kinds of mob do spawn in the night around the base? I got my main base in the forest and had fulings, surtlings Seeker and Greydwarf fighting each other.... o_O is that new or did i just never realize???
so each boss i kill i get nightspawns from that area around my base?... never realized... i just normally do sleep at night π
Im looking for a server to join. Anyone got a suggestion (looking for med-high pop preferably)
Have you tried looking in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 ?
I had not seen that tab, thanks
It's not just around your base
Anyone figured out ideal material for ashvine farm? I'd like to use dividers since they make the most sense... but apparently they do not work?
I didn't get them to work when growing at the (stone) walls of my house inside the castle walls.
Which made me wonder if they only grow when using the Grausten walls.
the growing is little bugged currently
Hmm.... OOOH! I think I found a good material
Ashwood decorative wall, it looks more like a double divider. But it has the word wall in it... surely it counts as a wall
might only work on stone-type walls
You have to put it ON something, yeah. It's too flimsy to be standalone.
No, I have them wrapped around a circular stone tower I built. It's not efficient though so I need to spend some time experimenting with another farming mechanism.
Are there any food recipes with magma fish?
l;ooking for someone to start a server with
im new to the game and don't want anyone to experienced
anyone notice a little bit of frame freezing or stuttering when casting magic in the infested mines? it doesn't happen when i melee, only when i cast fire spells
what u need to do right now to open trolls raid?
kill elder and a troll
asking bc i did NOT kill elder yet and im started get trols raid
are you playing on a server?
but i killed a lot of trolls but NOT elder
yes but we dont killed elder yet
How should me and my friend prepare for fader? Im running slayer sword and flametal armor and my friend has the emblem armor and all staffs (except shocker)
do you have player based raids enabled perhaps?
we all not killed elder and we have fresh chars
even the owner is not sure why we getting it lol
are you really sure somebody didnt just reuse old char? because it shouldnt be possible π
or one last thing that could play some role are mods, if you play modded then the game can do a lot of weird things
u mean if some1 login with old char he can open the option?
everyone have new chars
i am not sure if it can then happen only when it checks the individual player or if it enables it in entire worldπ€ you can look at https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Events and see if you will learn more
ah ... i made growing the vines work π nice π now we need to wait π
I also just finished a design for growing vines
and it's working, at least seems like it is
they need quite some space ...
and now i need to stop playing and go slee p π¦ good night all
I figured out how to plant them quite tightly, somewhat
you can plant on both sides of ashwood decorative wall
WAIT, whoa! You can actually climb vine walls by spamming space?!
How long is this fog gonna last?
just use a dev command to remove it i doont like to use them but i do for rain bc for some reason my base turned into a rain forest and constantly rains so i gotta clear it sometimes just for some sun
Mistwalker, Carapace Buckler, probably wine against fire, portal material, heavy armor and spinesnap with frost arrows
Best foods you have
I dont like to cheat, when i use /stats my character still got 0 cheats
its not really cheating to remove weather that is a consitstant bother
Materials for the shield generator, iron for the stone cutter and perhaps some materials for balistae if you want to have some defensive capabilities.
would anyone want to play i just got the game and want to injoy it someone who is also new and plays a lot dm 17
You may consider looking in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 for that.
I got tilted and just closed it. But ty.
I was getting very frustrated not being able to see clearly and it was seemingly lasting forever. On day 2 of new dedicated server. Just trying to look around -_-.
i understand that like mine after day 12 ish it just decided to rain on a daily basis with few breaks got really annoying
Ugh.
You two are going to have sooooooo much fun when you reach the swamp. π€£
im past the swamp
ive started my first strictly no cheating playthrough
im fine with raind there but i mean when im in the meadows or black forest and i cant cook or anything because it wont stop storming its annoying]
Is the New ore rare? Havent found any at all
i love stormy seas tho
Can I be able to transport Ore from a different map to my home base?
not really sure how rare, but usually its found a bit more inland in lava fields
Yup.
Just keep it in your inventory, log out of the other wold, log into the one with your home base and drop it wherever you want to use it.
Hmm my map has 3 big Islands, fully doscovered one but not found any
that doesent seem right...
You will also find ores at the spots where Dverger used to be.
If they're gone, just destroy the ward and the crates near the campfire.
If I do that I have to create like a comfort zonesnd possibly a longship in order to do the mining?
Hmm might be bugged seed or something
did you perhaps explore the old ashlands before ptb or full update?
No we made fresh map for New update
could you share the seed, i would also take a look
Im not at the pc atm, but can share/update tomorrow
Thanks for help so far tho, thought maybe we missed something
People moved ores between two worlds before the portal modefier to allow ore portaling was there.
So you can mine ores at one world, log out, move to another world and drop the ores there without a problem.
Depending at the kind of ores you mine, getting some sort of save zone may be useful. But in general if you have the right equipment and food, you won't have many problems if you mine ores in a biome that is at your level or below that.
IF i have plenty of food brought along with me its certainly manageable the only thing may be a problem is the resting bonus which requires me to bring a bunch if matetials in home world to construct all the necessary furniture
That depends at where you are mining.
For Black Forest, use an old tower and simply cut some fir trees to get the wood for a workbench to build the roof. Add a campfire and you're good.
Or you mine under a boulder or the copper ore itself, light a campfire and you're good.
For the swamp it's easier to find a building in a nearby friendly biome, drop a campfire in it and repair the roof to get the rested bonus.
If you use a mining world and a "home world", it may even be easier.
Get a rested bonus at your homeworld, log out, enter the mining world, mine until the rested bonus is gone, log out, log into your homeworld, drop the ores, get a rested bonus.
Rince and repeat.
you can, it is not necesseary for most people tho
or even usefull since we have world modifiers now
didnt know that was a thing especially didnt think it was a common thing
i dont think it really is common, or at least not since Hildir update that introduced the modifiers
For players having a "Building world" and a "Combat world", mining in the latter may be a better idea to keep their environment clean.
It's also an option if you don't want to end up with those deep pits where a copper or silver vein used to be.
I have not gotten to the ashlands part yet (barely started in the mountain) But I have noticed people complain about too much spawning in ashlands, is it still like that?
ahhhh i usually just refill them
Do you normally do this in soate time and this is all 100% legit?
its not that bad, it had much higher spawns in ptb, and it is also intended as a batlefield basically π
It's legit; otherwise the option wouldn't even be there.
And no, I'm not doing that all the time, as I know how much copper and silver are needed to craft the bare minimum. Which is a lot less if you don't use the Bronze and Wolf armor.
In fact, the only materials you really need a lot of is iron.
Swamps are able to provide more than enough up to the point you reach the Mistlands. And over there there's another option to get iron (and bronze), so I doubt a world can run out of it for solo players.
For people playing with a team it may be more tricky, but when having a "mining world" - which can even be the same seed with a different name - and one to build / fight with the team, that won't be a problem either.
On top of that, there's still Dev-commands.......
Which nests?
Straw
They're just rugs like any other with a different look
What was added with the patch today that could cause crashes
you dont happen to have mods, do ya?
I don't understand why they made new eitr food that has the same value as old mistlands etir food.
So dumb
lasts longer?
is there a mod that shows the type (by type i mean what's making it) and direction of sounds?
no, its worse π
you sure, it dont sounds like ashlands tier food
maybe ask in #mods-discussion
oh i didnt see that channel, thanks
i try to start a new world and then valheim says it isnt responding. anyone know how to fix?
you just need to wait a bit generatin a world takes some time
give it some time, it needs to generate the world
Is ther a way to turn off server progression? got new friends that want to try valheim and i rather not start over but having night goblins when you start is kind of rough? any insight is helpful
Use player based events.
Is that a mod?
No. I would never suggest mods to someone.
Hey does anyone have a server I can join?
Thanks
World modifier (setting you select before loading into world)
But that's for raids, it doesn't affect wild spawns
Is there any way to make my tamed wolf kinda just patrol the area around my base? When I pet him to stay, he doesn't move further than a ~10m radius, so he pretty just sits in my front yard.
I first started playing Valheim because a bunch of real life friends did. And they gave me what I think is the best advice, that the best way to experience the game is in a solo world separate from your multiplayer server, to understand the early game experience.
It's otherwise weird to only play on a server that's already into the game's progression. And there's really no good way around that.
No. The closest you can do to that is to tell them to follow you, then jump through a portal. This puts them in a state of neither staying or following, and they will basically go wherever based on the mobs they chase.
Ah neat trick, thanks
A mix of wolves told to stay with a bunch of wolves that will neither stay nor follow works for me. The ones told to stay are near my walls and are there more for breeding.
I agree, solo, or with my wife, since we play together all the time, is the best way to learn the game world. It got confusing as to what was learned from what with so many people finding mats for the first time, and you come along later and just touch them to get the recipes. So I only really learned the game doing everything on my own.
so, just a small question, but for a solo-player world, should 5 sap needles do, or should I go to 6 or 7?
Depends at the amount of roots you have close to your base.
I've been using one extractor for one root, as you don't need to demolish the extractor after you removed the sap.
Over time the root may show as being "drying up", but if you leave the extractor for a while, it will end up with a full load of sap anyway.
For me in a solo game 3 - and later 2 - extractors were enough.
't was a lot harder to find enough soft tissue, actually.
The roots refill over time anyways.
ok, cause I've seen about 5 pumps work for a 3-player world, where I was playing mage
that, and soft tissue is no issue, since I have a steady stream of short door-to-door salesmen that visit my house and get mad when they run into my sword
It's totally their fault, im certain of it
You will need a lot of Eitr early on when you're crafting and upgrading all - especially mage - gear.
Once that's done, you don't need that much Eitr for a while, giving you enough time to pause harvesting sap a bit more often.
eeh I'll just put in the 6th and call it good
6 should keep you nice and happy solo. IE always have plenty.
Long term you only need 3. As Thorin said, its the early costs that eat up a lot.
and now that I think about it, I don't even need addition eitr to blow up the stunties, I'll just use the chemical weapons that I'm already offered
those work well enough, I should've thought of that sooner, and I'm disappointed that chemical bombs weren't an immediate solution in my mind
or maybe they should be considered septic weapons, considering the kinds of glue used in making them, or does that still count as chemical?
Is there some hidden way to find the infested citadel
I have been to 2 locations, and I have seen nothing
Tempted to resort to cheating just to spawn one
pretty sure you can only find the stones in the infested mines
If the world is from before Ashlands, the locations of the Queen may have changed.
But you can find a Vegvisir in the infested mines and those are always pointing to the right location.
that, and just use a map generator to find the arena
saves yah soul, and yah needin that to get more wisps
3 seconds from stealing nuclear launch codes
just keep clearing mines. you're going to need the black cores anyway.
I mean you only really need like 15 to build all the cool things, but the extra jelly for meads and seeker loot is nice
Map generator points to the wrong locations too if / when the world is created before Ashlands content release.
that would explain why I only found Haldor on the spawn island, when it said I would find both traders
you could also use the map gen to find mines or vegvasir stones instead of boss spawners
#valheim-help messageconfirmed by the guy who makes it here
With an old (pre-Ashlands) world you can actually load it to the website to get the right locations.
It's more useful, but the location can still be wrong. As I've noticed when looking for both the Queen and a Sealed tower.
Problem is that Ashlands have adjusted both the southern and northern part of the map, disconnecting both Ashlands and the Deep North and because of that the area where bosses can spawn has been reduced as well..
it will probs see an update soon?
Is there a reason none of my console commands are working now
One of a dozen I'd imagine. Are you playing solo or on a server?
Solo, no mods
And -console is in your start params in Steam?
mhm
console window opens at F5?
Yup
devcommands true?
...no
all this over a minor termite infestation
If you leave a world and later enter it again, there's no need to type "devcommands" to activate them as it already is activated.
Only typing "debugmode" is needed.
You only need to use the 'devcommands' the moment you close down the entire game.
Any Building nerds free? We are having some major issues with this house and can't figure it out
I am not the greatest builder, but I am interested in assisting
Are there new players to this game? I just bought it and not really into playing a survival game alone
anyone to play together with?
I'm sure you can find those people in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
so realistically, how many bone fragments do you need to bring along to Ashlands, to power a shield generator, if you're just heading there?
One generator needs 10. But it's better to bring some more until you found a way to replenish that stock.
When I found out you need them as fuel, I stopped making bone bolts, but now I've got a chest full.
I brought 50, but since there is a method in Ashlands to replenish the bones you use in a generator, that was more than enough.
Has there been many bugs found with Ashlands? I was hoping by the time I get there most things are fully ironed out but to my knowledge it seems like its been very stable and bug free, any input would be nice
There were a bunch found in beta (PTB), but I have heard the list (on the website) shrinks almost daily since then. It was playable during PTB and I imagine, it is even more-so now that bugs are being squashed.
Thanks, I didnt know they listed known issues on the website but I found it now
Does using the serpent shield with the root harness do any good? Things like that do not stack, correct?
I believe you are correct. you won't get "better" pierce resistance for having 2 items (unless they say specifically on the item like needing 4 pieces for troll armor sneak).
IE Pierce Resistance.
I think that was the answer way back when, but since its been about 15 months since I last played, I was not sure when my wife asked.
I still think the harness is better when we get to the plains, because the serpent is only equivalent to the iron shield. But until we get s econd harness made, maybe I will use the shield and let my wife wear the harness. Since she is set on killing lox and getting cloud berries and needles.
She is even trying to talk me into clearing villages, when we don't even have full iron sets yet.
Also something to consider, the shield acts like a tower. AFAIK you can't parry with it.
No, you cannot. Which I am fine with. Its one of the things I choose not to do because I think parry is OP. So I use tower shields anyways.
ok
There is no flametal buckler and it makes me sad because the caparapce buckler is ugly
in that case, it is better in the sense that it has a 15% speed reduction instead of the standard 20%
They did not use pretty looking bugs for Mistlands. Which is a shame.
god forbid we had to fight off hordes of cute fuzzy bumblebees....
then the bees definately wouldn't be happy
I was thinking about the beetles with the pretty colored carapaces, but yeah, that would be terrible too. π
beetles would have given hammers a good run with blunt weakness likely. then we could joke about a reunion tour every time there was 3-4 of them.
"no george, she does not love you "ya ya ya"!
ya, not a fan myself of the mistland's shields.
I would upgrade if the flametal shield is even close due to the aesthetics upgrade but I did some quick calcs and I'd be losing 36 parry power which is an insane amount to lose for a more expensive upgraded shield
And the gap widens with the block skill upgraded
looking for a good large pop dedicated server someone here can recommend personally. thank you!
any server to join?
Lol alright I guess this Sealed Tower on my map just doesn't exist
try touching Hildr table again
Hey guys kinda new to valheim. Anyone care to help me complete my first playthrough? Steam. No toxic vibes. M/32/USA
#1024264966712340510 π you can make a post/reply there
@strange arrow thanks bud
i put a picture in screenshots. how would people reccomend i defend my base without having to build a wall though the ocean. the monsters just swim around
As a harvester, seeing my friends spawned on their bed naked, eating all the shit i gather and rushing to the portal without saying anything.. i love this game.
looks very open on all sides, how were you planning on defending it? for example when trolls come and destroy that nice garden?
thats my point. its a pininsulla. and i thought that mobs couldnt just swim through deep water
its walled off on the land side
well if you raised the ground so it's very steep into the water on all sides that would do the trick, but you'd have to raise the entirety of the base like that or get the earth wall look you didn't want
i might have to just build out of the water and stuggle with it lol
it's a tough call but yeh, the trolls can walk up near vertical inclines these days lol (exaggerating slightly)
if they can find a slope inside, they'll find it
So I found two copper nodes, and I manage to mine both of them, essentially making one giant quarry.
I store about four or five full stacks of copper ore into a chest. I create a kiln, a furnace, and a forge to turn into bronze on-site with tin I bring in from my travels. Two workbenches, one for each node to keep spawns off
After numerous in-game days, I come back. My first workbench there, my furnace, my kiln, even my forge. All destroyed. All wrecked. Their stuff was at least there, along with their produced ingots and coal, so that's good. But worst of all, those four or five stacks of copper ore, gone. Absolutely gone. All that hard work, fucking wiped.
I think I'm just gonna skip strengthening my bronze equipment and rush straight for the Elder and then the Swamp. Or just get as much bronze out of what I can scrounge up for the antivenom I need before rushing for the Swamp for its food
Makes me want to toggle on the fire hazard option for my next playthrough just so I can set the black forest ablaze and burn every single graydwarf within
Damn copper grind is real. I usually skip through it as fast as possible
was it on a mp server, or were you solo?
Who wrecked it?
Bronze keeping gods:
Solo, completely solo
I refuse to have my ability to pause taken away
It had to be graydwarves
yeh either greys/trolls throwing rocks or a raid you didn't notice
But my quarry wasn't a sleepable place. But it is in super close proximity to my black forest base
It had to be greys/trolls
Hello! I'm new to the game
you had 3+base items there, a raid could have triggered, most of the spawns wouldn't have happened due to the workbench coverage but some could have
sucks that they destroyed the chests with the goodies in tho, then they would have despawned
it isn't valheim without either tedious grinding, or head splitting enemies
Yyyep, the goodies are all gone thanks to those fucking monsters. My scaffolding remained intact, though. Lesson learned: build a shed around any storage intended on containing all my copper ores, especially if I'm lucky enough for my base to be in close proximity to two copper nodes.
at least the forging equipment mats were still there in time to collect, that's something
Or the popping of blood vessels that comes with trying to survive in the Mistlands for the first time ever, along with the nerfs to aqueducts that made finding them much less exciting
at that point, Id recommend putting a deep hole in the ground, putting some chests in there, and putting the copper there, since ai tends to avoid terrain holes
Indeed, but that's surprising
But the quarry in itself is two giant deep holes in the ground together
you'd have to use some stone, make a little (earth wall)canal around the edges and pop the chests there
Here's the quarry in question
#screenshots message
Perhaps so, but I think they ignore wooden walls and roofs, thus a shed for storing my copper ore on-site
should be safe then from stone throwing from above and ground attacks
the wood stuff will break as fast as the chests yeh
luckily stone is usually on hand in giant pits xD
rare enough to even find 2 nodes close enough together to make one dig
Indeed, which makes it all the more painful losing so much copper ore. And a stark reminder of why grinding for bronze is absolute ass.
hunting trolls has equal amounts of ass xD
It will, yep, but I thought they only attacked crafting stations and ignored walls/stairs/roofs/the like, which is how my forge was destroyed meanwhile the wooden floor, walls, and roofs surrounding the destroyed forge were left perfectly intact
At least troll hunting is MUCH less painful
Which is why I'll die on the hill that creating bronze armor is absolutely insanely pointless
well it's not like bronze armor prevents you getting 1 shot in the swamp
but it's not like troll armor protects much either
a friend in our group used to say he was going after trolls to get their butt gold xD
it's a bonus if everyone is at the stage where they need mega cash for belts xD
armor for the swamp is basically a red herring anyway, yr best friends in there are poison res, spice rack cooking options with decent food going in
Maybe not, but at least its armor is only slightly worse than bronze armor, but so much less painful and soul-crushing to obtain
Hence the insane pointlessness of getting bronze armor in the first place when that bronze could be put to MUCH better use with weapons, tools, and/or upgrading your weapons
Yep, and the materials to build a base there (or at least a shelter) and a portal, along with the necessary metals to cook there
you can leave the cooking for home if have yr portal, but yeh
Maybe close to a mountain with silver found so I don't have to lug the silver I need all the way home
how do you have silver tagged when mining copper? xD
Well, it's more that it's the ideal, even if completely unfeasible unless I'm constantly building shed after shed to protect myself against the freezing cold as I use my dowsing stagbreaker hammer to locate silver, and that's assuming the wolves don't get to me first. Hell, at that point I'd be expecting the norse gods to decide I lost the russian roulette and sends forth a two star wolf to ruin my day and guard my remains.
sequence breaking at it's finest
is there a flametal buckler?
nop
Yyyyep
Imo, a game this much of a slog and this willing to kick you in the balls deserves it, especially since I'm using my wits instead of using cheese strategies like chairing my way into sunken crypts
(i took frost arrows to Bonemass)
i think it's still better for parrying
just use it if you like parry, don't replace it
Parry bonus based
Makes the terrifying goblins the fodder they deserve to be, and makes the giant bugs manageable to fight
Don't know about the scary two star medal purple bugs, since my brain is still back in the times in which I could only reach level 2 with mistlands tier equipment
has anyone made a functional triple spawner (in swamps) afk grinder for blood magic? got a single spawner going right now but havent found a video for the swamp one yet
lots of mistlands gear can be made level 4 now
Ooooh, finally
Does level 4 black forge require Ashlands materials? Just a yes or no would be fine, I wanna discover the rest for myself
I just know I need to bring at the VERY least two iron for a stonecutter
yes
Excellent
Level 4 Mistlands upgrades required 1 black forge upgrade that uses Ashlands materials, so yes
I also recommend killing queen before going if you haven't already
and don't level up a weapon you want ||to enchant, it resets it's level after enchanting so only level after||
Excellent, so my black forge won't be obsolete
Speaking of worry about mistlands stuff becoming obsolete, I can only hope I'll still need to use Nordic Mana (Eitr) to craft Ashlands swag, or that there are Ashlands materials that require refinement in that same station that gets me eitr orbs
after killing Queen you'll learn that you want to bring something else along apart from stonecutter materials, also bring lots of Mead and I'd bring at least mats for 3 portals haha
Eitr for mages is still a thing, for mage food too
I mean sap for food
I don't mean the Eitr stat, I mean the glowing green eitr orbs
its used for some crafting in Ashlands the green orbs made from sap and tissue
alongside new stuff of course
from the refinery
its not a bad thing to have some stockpile of befor you start Ashlands
Ah, good, good.
Time to (eventually) see if there are Yggdrasil branches in the Ashlands. And if so, I hope it contains the orange glowing branches I once saw overhead
I'm actually unsure about this, got no idea as I haven't looked up enough in Ashlands to answer this, at least it means I can't spoiler that haha
you'll be just burning to get there
just think literal incarnation of fire, death and war, and bingo
After experiencing the trauma and heart palpitations from the Mistlands kicking my ass every step of the way by big bugs and treacherous terrain that makes the swamp's bog feel like a walk in the park to the point of attacking the blue dorfs on sight not realizing they're not aggressive (and to the point of embracing the sweet safety of an infested cave) #valheim-public-test message
I learned there's NO such thing as over-fucking-preparing, unless the over-preparing leaves me weighed down and vulnerable to attack by mobs I'm completely unfamiliar with.
true words π
bring plenty of meads, the amount I used was insane, my Viking gained an extra 40kg from the calories of all the meads he had to drink!
Oh no, the grandmapocalypse D:
getting a good foothold is the best non spoilery advice
bringing 3 portals instead of one is another good one imo, is what I did
i was lucky, the boat didn't get trashed and i got what i needed in the first outing for the ||upgrade||
I did have some portals destroyed sometimes before I get better established, played PTB Day 1
Ain't that the truth. Advice that the VERY treacherous verticality of the Mistlands beat into my head until it got a dent.
I may even need to expect to lose my longboat to the flames, it being made of wood and all, thus truly passing the point of no return until I setup base there. Or maybe load a previous world where my attempts to chase Moder led me to try to sail through the pre-Ashlands Ashlands' shallow rivers
aye same
Quick question. Is the aqueduct nerf still in effect?
If so, I may need to find mods that restore aqueducts' material potential from its PTB days when 1.0 releases
I do recommend killing Queen before you go, just saying, but if you want to go without that its up to you +sing+ "just a little bit dangerous"
we have world modifiers now, if you want more drops just crank it up π
It'll be my first time killing the queen for sure.
What kinds of items and gear am I expected to bring? I'm personally glad Moder can be cheesed, since I'm so sick of having my bow destroyed from inadvertantly blocking its icecicles when I was trying to roll out of the way.
At least it feels nice parrying its attacks and attacking it with the wolf spear.
gear for the queen fight?
well it's not her alone, she summons adds you need to deal with as well
Yes, but I wanna affect the aqueduct material drops without affecting the material drops of the rest of the world, basically making it as if any structure found in the wild is considered the same as a player made structure for material harvesting purposes (the leather racks from the goblin camps were a nice source of flint and leather scraps, if I ever wanted those in the plains)
Best for queen to make it easy (but might take a while) is magic, staff of embers + staff of protection and dead raiser I'd bring, if your magic skills are super low they should be leveled / grinded a bit before you face queen fight though. She is quite tough without cheese or magic, just doing normal melee
the strongest weapon for queen and her adds is the staff of embers easily
Staff of embers alone is fine. Staff of protection isn't necessary, and if you're getting hit so much you feel like you need it, you're also draining your HP at presumably low skill at that point.
Ahh, dammit, so magic will indeed be needed. Hopefully it'll stay relevant in the Ashlands, and hopefully it'll continue staying relevant (along with the ||siege weapons and the alluded FORTRESS TIME||) come the Deep North
melee on the Queen is tough going, if you are solo and don't have magic bubble shield and skele's to take heat yr toast
there is a cheese too, not sure if still works nowadays, haven't done the cheese myself
Greeat. Will I need MHS or distribute my stats differently?
and the ember staff is too crazy good not to use xD
I also find sticking to the upper level makes fighting the Queen easier. Just circle the top.
works for most things, but summoning skele's i think you'll need 100 eitr+
If I die in the boss arena, will my remains be there (and thus have to make a beeline for my stuff while evading her attacks)?
yes
Skeletons die too easily in the queen fight, you'll just bog yourself down and waste HP and eitr summoning/shielding them. Just use fireballs. Lots of fireballs.
Was magic always that good? Or did it feel underwhelming at first? Because when I last reached the Mistlands, I read about how magic feels underwhelming or something
I m still using them in Ashlands, cannon fodder and I need to shield myself anyway, and I like to run 3 eitr foods as well
is Nidhogg better than mistwalker for ashlands?
resummoning them quickly does work, if you have good blood magic the shield lasts a good while and you can still blast/melee in between
they're paper with no shield it's true
It's just a numbers game, what does more damage to the queen, a bunch of fireballs or skeletons and shields?
fireballs for sure, I like them as cannon fodder so I can stuff up avoiding some damage sometimes, if you're only using fireballs solo you;ll be the target of her all her adds, both ways work imo, some might be better for someone depending on playstyle
I don't find dodging seekers difficult by that point. They get caught in the AOE often enough to die plenty anyway.
maybe you're just good though xD
I'm just a human π€·
is it pronounced "flay"metal or "flaa"metal
I use second pronounciation, but I m a german living in Australia
yes but also don't forget summoning magic use doesn't end with skele's either, there's an even better use in Ashlands
flay feels better imo
||I use skellies and protection stuff together with Staff of the wilds in ashlands, hardly even not ember there because of how good wilds is||
Now I'm hoping the Deep North will have potatoes come its eventual release, since those survive in the cold
ice rocks we have to spend a week shifting snow to reach
the devs also said they plan on potentially having a weapon for each weapon type available, so another atgeir, another knive and all that even fistweapon maybe for Deep North
alongside usual suspects like swords and maces etc
the full spread
and potentially a new weapon type we haven't seen before at all too, so mega amount of weapons
does anyone have a mod suggestion to make magic more accessible early game? using thudnerstore
i have mods that add early game magic weapons but none that make it actually possible to use
there is a mod channel i m not sure how to properly link it
they might know, thanks Meow
oh didnt see that in my channel list
it's relegated to the lower leagues of the discord channel list xD
(bcoz mods aren't officially supported, still?)
grey area for now xD
throw rocks at it
Welp, since I have to go back to grinding for copper so I can get the bronze I need for kegs before heading off to the swamp, it looks like that long-ass bridge to cross the giant creek won't be so pointless after all
Can we discuss Ashlands in here? I had an interesting question to bring up, can't find information about it anywhere
have all ready started need one or two more we are at copper
any1 able to do a body retrieval rq
I'd always add biome to that question ^^
I'm at work so can't do rq
iv killed most but everytime i get close i get killed and im running out of potions
I posted it in #screenshots since it required an image example
this creature exists in the game
||its a fire troll thing, summoned by the "trolstav"||
ah thank you, now my mind is at peace. I thought it'd be odd to showcase a monster and not include it.
||undead fire troll, quite tough, will attack anyone including the player summoning them with trollstav||
amazing. Now if only I could survive Ashlands long enough to obtain such a thing. If I'm not getting into unfortunate scenarios though, I just have the worst luck with ||Flametal Ore||. On the first strike it starts sinking every time
can be obtained from chests in fortress as well, I got lucky had 1 fortress with about 70 flametal ore in it
also about 5 flametal in dvergr crates
geez, guess I need to reconsider my strategy then. I haven't touched fortresses because I didn't realize
whats the recommendation of armor sets for playing magic? Do I go full maga regen?
In Mistlands I found that 1 Health food and 2 Etir food were great. Cape reduces jumping penalty for climbing and combat needs no stamina except for running around
Oh and Etir Weave robes of course.
I cannot find an ideal armor set balancing regen and actual armor.
Full etir regen is kinda fragile.
The Blood Shield thing should be plenty. The robes are lightweight so you should be able to get away to recast it whenever it breaks. Also it gains a lot more damage absorption with blood magic level.
You can also slow pursuers with a flick of the ice staff here and there
Do u use full etir weave sets?
Sorry I have too many questions.
Yes. I'm not really using it in Ashlands right now though simply because the shield and robes offer too little protection.
I've not gotten the Embla robes yet though or tried it with Lingering Etir and Lingering Health (I seem to recall those were added with the biome).
A combination of things like that could help survivability
Thank! I will try them out and see how can I balance the survivability and regen.
basically my theory is lingering health and lingering etir could help with recasting bloodshield since it takes a healthy amount of both HP and ET to cast.
So you might be able to recast it more often if you are getting struck a lot.
Idk if the somewhere around 60 armor from full Embla will do well against Ashlands mobs with a direct it though, that's the tricky part
I see
No no no no no on extra health as a mage π€£
Better to rely on magic shield and maybe take a stamina food with 2 eitr
You do no have anywhere NEAR enough armor in mage robes to even consider tanking a hit
You can case magic shield even at 1 hp, so extra health is redundant
In Ashlands that may be the case. In Mistlands you really didn't need the Stamina food. Especially in the dungeons
Did not know you can cast bloodshield at 1 hp. But that makes sense actually since it only takes 40% of your current health. So you can never truly kill yourself with it. It'd just take 40% of 1
So full etir regen in Ashland?
two etir and 1 stamina food is the play.
I run 3 Eitr, depends on yourself imo
I do this too
You do you.
That is the first time I have heard someone say you donβt need stamina food in mistlands π
Only if I am running mage. If I'm going melee then I of course take it. Otherwise though I don't feel the need. I'm pretty good at navigating and clambering I guess lol
The ashlands is very laggy, what setting should I lower?
Almost got my bow skill leveled up to 100.. hitting 90 soon home stretch fellas
low fps?
Does anyone have two spare golem trophies?
I got killed by a 2 STAR MORGEN. 2 hits on max flametal armor lmfao
haven't had the time to run lol, staggered me on first hit then finished me with the second
That's a shield kind of moment. I'd just yeet all health food for etir food and a stamina food if going melee
or just 1 etir food to have just enough to cast shield
OMG I Hate Ashlands its impossible lost everything and no way to get back. No wonder I havent played in months!
Went in melee?
nope
bow? I've been doing great with magic so far. Only died once while playing all day yesterday
My friends died and then I died after portal was destroyed
hm... did you guys bring along materials for a shield generator? wouldn't have fixed the problem but would have given at least some help with ranged attacks and help keep that portal intact.
For next attempt would highly recommend observing the coast a bit and try to spot if there's any spawners, if there are spawners very close to the coast, gotta bomb it with a staff of embers from safe distance. After coast is cleared from spawners, then start quickly raising the ground about 6m high, setup shield generator and a portal on top of it
then quickly take out any nearby spawners
After all that is done things should calm down a bit
still should avoid being there at night tho
ok thx we will try
I was getting comfortable with ashlands till that 2 star morgen showed up
I've yet to get hit by a morgen. Idk what's up with them but they seem to be very easy to avoid getting hit when you focus on kiting it
of course... melee isn't going to have easy time
good lord they need to tone down the enemy spawns in the ashlands
please just ten seconds of peace
when there are no spawners near you the spawn rates become manageable, but that is assuming you're not attracting more of them to yourself by moving around or cutting trees
thats the problem though, sprinting and jumping are insanely detectable to enemies which is fine in a biome that doesnt have such crazy spawns but even destroying every charred spawner theres a huge chance of deevolution into a giant mob of enemies that barely damage each other thats almost impossible to fight
is there a mod that skips the portal animation time?
That's a loading screen, the area you're entering has to load first
Trying to skip parts of that will cause problems. One such would be enemies spawning in spawn protected areas. I noticed that while I was flying around my large island base to take pictures with sped up mode
what about if you enter the portal and the exit is right next to it
it still takes forever
I think it's something they just overlooked. pretty sure it unloads the area around you and loads it again, not realizing the area you're entering is the same one.
It should be possible to skip the loading in that kind of situation
i was trying to make a hidden basement and am not creative enough for a decent staircase so i just connected portals to both rooms lol
for that the 1m wide ladder could be good option, annoying climb up tho... ashlands added a similar option but it's at 26 degree angle like the 2m wide stairs. Or mistland spilar staircase. You could try to hide it with carpets or just have wooden floor you break to enter
how do you approach a cultist room in a frost cave where there's like 5 cultists in one spot right behind the door?
either bait them to you, retreat away from it after you attract their attention and wait a bit so they start returning, then go back and strike the ones taking longest to return. The other faster and probably safer option is to use ooze bomb
Ez throw ooze bombs at them until they all dead
ooze bombs are a great shout tysm
Btw is there a way to go to ash land before queen π€
I can think of trying the harpoon glitch to throw myself there but that requires coop
I can launch myself off from a high point like the mountains
one option would be constantly repairing the ship, you can place crafting benches on those rocky spikes
I heard there are a lot of enemies
I don't think it will work cuz the dmg increases as you go further south
How many morgens was that before I could get into that fort? 8? Sheesh.
True, but placing a small campfire spawn proofing in the general area around your landing zone will help significantly
Morgen gjall.
i did that and it does work, but i just wish combat encounters were more spaced out so i had some time to breath
I just don't get this game. I built a chicken breeder. They ate from the pile of food I threw and made 6 eggs. Then they stopped eating from the pile and I can't place another one anywhere for them to eat.
Sounds like you have limited space for them
It's deliberately difficult because the devs hate breeding towers.
Except they still work :P
they are 12 meters above the ground, and they worked for a whole day
my pig breeders I built two years ago still work
Maybe the game don't want you to breed the chicken in an unethical way? Such as using a breeder
that wouldn't explain why it worked for 30 minutes
Should just try ethical nature farming
no such thing as ethical farming in Valheim
Ethically grinded sausage
i softly kiss every chicken before blowing it up with a magic fireball
The gjall trophy is disappointing, it's so small compare to the real thing
does the new update add any new content before ashlands or is it only ashlands
well the gjall trophy is the head of the gjall
I donβt think thereβs anything other than the fire world modifier
Oh god fucking dammit, I caught a troll right in the middle of my quarry destroying everything. I thought workbenches were supposed to stop mobs from spawning in the building area?
At least I caught it before the damage it did was permanent
Either way, I think imma need to build stakewalls around the entire perimeter of my quarry
Workbenches stop spawns, but the troll couldβve walked over to it randomly
made sure to check there's no gabs in spawn protection?
That screwed me over in the mistlands
Guys, few friends on my server killed yagluth before others and i had forgotten to turn on player based progression. Other players were offline during the kill but munin appeared for all players. i tried using console to turn off gob king key but munin still appears. I turned off events so that seekers wont spawn. Do you think that they would spawn even if i used console to turn off key? Is munin just bugged?
Tiny gap and a bloody gjall spawned in π€£
oof
My way to ensure there's no gaps is erecting wooden beams at border of spawn protecting and where multiple circles cross, then when putting down crafting benches (burying), make sure the circle goes little bit over those beams
Maybe so, but I thought it high elevations prevented enemies from being able to go down ledges
And this was a log wielding troll, so it had no ranged attack to destry my stuff from outside my perimeter, and it somehow got in
Looks like I need to build more workbenches, then
Usually high elevation prevents path finding, but not always. You still need to pay attention to the slope, how steep it s. you can make it 6m high, but the slope might still be enough for path finding, while another 6m high is too steep because it was made a different way
a way to make it steeper is hitting at the base of it with a pickaxe, not too close so you won't actually mine the thing
I've tried burying workbenches and campfires but they always break when I cover them, how do you go about burying them?
I put down a wooden beam that goes through the workbench, then fill it up and try to keep that beam over the surface, then with flatten tool slowly raise it to cover it. Just barely covering it would be ideal
Another way would be doing the same thing, but have multiple 1m beams at different elevations connected to that 2m beam, cover it up and break all of the ones that poke out of the ground
and 3rd way would be connecting the workbench to something that is visible on the ground level, it will keep it from breaking
For example a rock is sticking out of the ground dig near the rock, put campfire or workbench down, put a beam trough rock and workbench or campfire fill hole back up?
Alright, so when heading off to create a new base, imma need to bring 15 bronze and 16 copper ingots. Then bring the same amount, with the addition of two iron ingots
Haven't tested with campfires yet, and not 100% sure about rocks and other enivornmental stuff, but if it works as support, it should work
You can use trees and rocks to build stuff to so I'd guess that should work, I'll try and test this evening if I don't forget.
Do Yagluth totems don't respawn once they are looted? How do I get more its a limited amount in a world?
Fuling Berserkers also have a chance to drop totems.
Do Berserkers don't respawn if they are killed?
The raid with the sealed tower minibosses has fuling berserkers
And there's the fuling raid before yagluth is killed
There are lots of fuling villages all over the map .. you might need to try a few different locations
Do the fuling villages repopulate or they can't anymore?
villages don't repopulate
But they are a whole lot more Fuling Villages in one single world?
There are MANY villages in each world, Just find a bigger plains Biome
Whats the most used Health and Stamina Foods for plains thats easily accessible?
Bread, Lox meat Pie, Fish wraps
My fishing skill is not really low does that impact my anility get higher quality fish?
No, the fishs spawn in the water independent of your skill, but you probably wont find a high quality fish so easily
btw If you do, the fishing skill does affect the stamina drain
Serpent stew is the top 1 Health Food at plains, If you find any Sea serpent the meat is really appreciated
Yagluth totems are the most frustrating boss respawn item
You canβt get more unless youβve aggroed Hildirβs plains quest
That raid spawns more fuling berzerks
I donβt bury campfires - for workbenches I build a small hut
Base littered with small huts isn't something I'd want ^^
what levels do the crafting table and forge max out at?
5 and 7
Forge can be fully done in the swamp, for the crafting bench you need a foray into the mountains for some osidian.
you can combine iron wood and flametal beams??
i wonder if i can build higher with this
inb4 instance count doubles
Can some one with the harpoon weapon help me test something?
Yeah dm me and Iβll bring one
Surely that fortress is down by now... probably killed 20-30 defenders inside of it already
Anyone have a clue why i have sync (cloud) problems on steam with Valheim? One and only game, been going on since release
it saves though, but i get error on steam
Is this normal? Before ashlands dropped I died in mistlands and was too tired to get my body back. Now post ashlands, I cant seem to find my grave marker
do gravemarkers get deleted when you update?
Will have to test that but I don't think that's possible
They're probably just the same height independently, but I've not tested it yet
Hello everyone, I wanted to ask, I made myself a new sword from the ashlands, which one should be better red, blue or green?
#building-discussion message this seems to answer the question
There we go, the first fort is finally conquered
as I suspected
Few tips for taking forts:
- Jump over the walls before the enemy know you're there (build stairs)
- Pop bonemass and take out all the spawners
- Then take out the warlocks
- I usually spam berserkers
This makes them a lot easier for me anyway! A lot less mob spawns
Spawn it
currently testing it, takes days even on triple speed for the combined beam to dismantle at the top, ill report back when i have the results
Flametal = Iron beams
flametal can carry stone a few meters higher i'm pretty sure
Nope
Flametal isn't a replacement for wood iron, it exists to allow building in lava
the real question would be why would anybody build on lava? it's a nightmare to spawn proof that area around it, dangerous to build, harder for you to reach...
other than looking cool
Spawners π
Warlocks π€£
To each their own β€οΈ
I like it cause it makes my place look lived in.
I can also see the boundaries of my borders
Reach flametal pillars to mine them
Buuuuuuuut that also leaves you open to losing flametal when you try and pickup the flametal pillars π€£
I mean the buildable flametal beams
Number of times I tested and stuff just drops into the lava
Ainβt no way Iβm diving in after it ππ
oh god... these stone portals are massive. it's a miracle I managed to fit it into my warehouse, although have to redesign small section of the roof to acommodate it...
They are huge
Finally a portal that is large enough to allow your mother though it. (obv jk, had to be done!)
Is offended in Moder
She could probably fit actually π€£
Wouldnβt that be a thing - portaling mobs π€©
Imagine your friend logs on only to find a moder in his base π€£
that would be really great, for real
currently transporting them around is complete pain in the ass, even if the new ship should be far more reliable for that
If my pc Just turns offs, How big Will be the rollback?
this automatic save system seems not work at all
I would say up to 30 min, but not sure
#1024264966712340510 Is the place to look for others to play with.
What does lfg stand for
Looking for group
In my 600 hours of Valheim, I've only gathered 9 total birch seeds.
Thanks
i was about to say, ifg would be i fucking guess. lfg is looking for group
servers and i fucking guess channel
indeed
300 hours on valheim and I never got a single fish
i have yet to fight a sea serpent myself, not including the new bonemaw
do you think there will be any huge major changes to anything when the game is finally finished and fully released?
and with the far north being the last zone. do you think they will release it like they have with past zones, or do you think that, since its the last zone to finish the game, it will be launched upon official launch of the game
is there a chicken head trophy?
nope
instead of labeling my meat boxes, I put their head, but no chicken head
I'm trying so hard to get wraith and sea serpent trophies :(
put a chicken wing on an item display
A complete honey glazed chicken.
egg
Ever since the new update my valheim crashes my computer every launch and has been unplayable. Support team has not helped at all. Other games on my PC work so it's definitely Valheim. Never used any mods and have deleted and reinstalled game at least 5 times. Anyone experienced this after new update a week or so ago? Thinking about getting a refund since it's bricked but I really like the game and hope to find a fix
is the vineberry glitch patched?
Maybe this can be of help: https://www.reddit.com/r/valheim/comments/uq9b8x/my_valheim_is_crashing_fix_for_crash_guide/
alr seems like the bug has been fixed (maybe?) but do the vineberries need cultivated soil under them when they are on the walls?
How often is teh raid check.
Every 46 minutes on normal settings.
And on Hard?
wasnt it 28 or 38?
Thanks for the information on the normal raid checks. Another question do events/raids ignore normal spawn prevention?
nvm I am wrong
no, spawn prevention protects against raids, they spawn so far away they don't pose a risk
depends how good you are and building 100s of workbenchs or fires lol
and how big your base is
Who needs stairs when you can jump 4m high?
Nidhogg or Mistwalker for Ashlands?
Any idea why there is no stone pickaxe? I find this quite frustrating. Im new to valheim and im just wondering why we dont have one.
the first pickaxe you get is from the first boss's drops. though this game is similar to minecraft, it isn't a 1-for-1. wiki and YT will be your best friends for information.
Mistwalker IMHO
But im a krom enthousiast
i need a shield for ashlands
is the first boss tough?
Basically a pushover as long as you're not bad at the game
That's just how you progress the game in this one. Each biome has a boss and killing it unlocks something to help you progresss
ah ok
General progression of the game is that you beat the boss of your current biome, and then what you get from killing them helps you harvest materials in the next biome
maken sense i guess
Once you get to know the game you figure out the tricks on how to skip the bosses and still get all the important materials, but that's mostly more for the fun of it than really being practical
Finewood being a prime example.
Anybody start a public valheim server lately? ive been wanting to play but my friends never want to.
#1024264966712340510 Might have some.
I remember months ago dev made it so that infested mine will have seeker egg regenerate , but this week i don't see them anymore , did they revert it ?
I don't recall that. I think it's just seekers, seeker soldiers, and royal jelly piles.
not the eggs that spawn brood.
oh RIP bozo, I just witnessed a seagul explode due to etir particle thingy hitting it
fun
Maybe the IM was from before that patch or not enough time have elapsed?
I think the latter. I had to jump back into one of my mines to re-locate the Queen's citadel after the patch and it was full of seekers & soldiers.
You do mean the royal jelly with the seeker eggs, right?
the egg hanging on the celling
No, I only saw full grown seekers, seeker soldiers and royal jelly piles.
the eggs don't regen, that I know of.
I don't think they regenerate, like rudeman says only those 3 things should regen.
may be it only affect undiscovered mine before the patch :/
I had already cleared the mine before the patch and found the vegevisir for the queen. That's why I went back to re-locate her citadel, because I hadn't yet visited it and the location had likely moved.
what do you mean by " re-locate queen citadel " ?
Correct. All mines discovered before the patch haven't got the respawning.
darn...
Well , i need a source for the jelly , may be summon the queen so she can keep spawning brood ?
That is a possibility or find a new mistland and some infested mines that you link with portals.
I wanted to say fine π€£
Baby seekers spawn at night too
Even after beaten queen ?
Only after that.
I refrained from making it a fine example ^^
After spending way too many hours testing, trialing and error finally reach Ashlands, pre Queen fight
Definitely would not recommend it unless you have too much time in your hands
Took a total of 4 hrs to reach it
i have reached it after i fought the queen...died and have been on a mission to retrieve my corpse ever since...brutal π
so if you go there...go careful... π
Welp
I am going in with my wolf armour πwe will see how it goes
good luck to you... i am in second set of carapace and gee ... got my hands full not to die a second time π
The shores of Ashlands is definitely super painful
But i just tested today, and it's probably possible with a lot of trial and error
You can get to Ashlands as soon as bronze
Using the harpoon glitch, requires at least 2 people
Very inconsistent, and hard to get it to work
It was fun but also pain
So it does stack, nice!!
The Ashlands ocean is my favourite due to music/ambience π₯³
killed Fader 3 time in arow
Extremely
I asked about the spawn protection because we had a "Ground is s" raid and the Troll spawned just outside our wall next to a Workbench.
And in all the time I have played I have not seen that before, so I was wondering if playing on Hard allowed for that.
missing a spot then
It spawned right net to a work bench, so didn't miss a spot.
did you actually see it appear? that never happend to me ... i turn around and then it is there...so i can n ot say how long it was there and did it walk over from somewhere? I personally never ever saw something "spawn in" right before my eyes π
I personally did not but my Brother and a friend on the server did see it spawn there.
Like I said I have played alot and never seen it before, so it could be a fluke.
My friends and I must have had the luckiest Ashland experience with where we landed and explored. Only did a small section and 3 forts got us enough bells to summon the boss which was also super close. Found it without a vegvisir
There isn't another build piece that prevents spawns other than work stations right?
Fire, torches and stuff like that
Oh right, campfires.
Although I didn't know about torches
Any Player based item I think, of which there's a bunch
Yes, just checked.
But it's 20m for all of them right? Even light sources
yea, except I think workbench/forge/alchemy table (is that it's name?)/black forge range extends if upgraded
And anything that prevents mob spawns also prevents item despawns
Right, I actually skipped that part in the wiki
Maybe there should be a +plains pieces that prevents some or all spawns inside a 30m area, that being its only purpose.
Like a new type of banner or flag, could serve as a way to simulate conquering and expanding territory
Ward could server that purpose of they didn't have the same range as all other pieces
Damn I guess the build piece infographic is outdated now
how to turn wood into coal?
Burn it
kiln
i tried doing the fire staff log pile but it wont work
you need to have fire hazard setting turned on i think
doesnt work anymore got patched
Anyone down to raid some fuling villages with me? I need totems for Yag.
Shield generators have a slightly bigger radius than workbenches (haven't measured it exactly but maybe 22-24m at its widest, which requires the generator to be underground since it projects from the top).
hitting level 100 with my bow skill today.. feelsgoodman. Ty bonemmass for being such a good training dummy
thatll be block and bow at 100.. deciding which to grind out next
fishing
ooof.
elemental magic? At least you get some variety leveling it. Though it usually levels just fine playing normally.
Currently in the plains on this playthrough.. i was defo thinking that when we hit mistlands
Never played mistlands just now coming back to the game since before hearth and home π
hey guys,is there any server for newbie that I can join?
my jump is almost 90 i could finish that off
It's such a small difference to 100 but a very big amount of xp. Don't try to grind it, you'll get there through normal gameplay
I assumed run & jump were already at 100 lol. Happens pretty naturally for me though i tend to jump a around a lot when i run around.
You're going to lose most of your skills in mistlands and ashlands anyway
just started this playthrough about a week and a half ago with some friends from wow
how do you manage to keep it on such a high level, after 150 hours of gampelay i have running skill on 67
don't die
very sadly im playing on a server with some noobs who cried too much about losing skills so we lessened the penalty for dying for them. Theyre still dying to greydwarfs while cutting trees
defo kinda sucks but ive been pushing for it to be taken off
Without skill loss skills have no real purpose
cause like theres hardly any incentive to not die you know?
agreed.
trust me it wasnt my choice hahah but i wanted to play with my friends
Once you're comfortable with parrying you shouldn't have too much trouble until Ashlands anyway on vanilla.
Even Mistlands isn't that terrible if you keep your gear upgraded
ive long been good.. i played the game for like 400 hours before hearth and home update back a couple years ago.. ive been yelling at these guys to just block everything and youll be fine
like ive tanked every single boss up until this point with a shield.. you hardly have to parry with like 50+ block
Parrying bosses is a waste of stamina since they don't stagger
but they wanna run around like chickens with their heads cut off lmao
true, especially once you get Bonemass power
its very comical how easy this game becomes when you just block everything
Unless you're fighting a later-game starred enemy that is too strong to block
that gets your teeth kicked in in Ashlands even in maxed Mistland gear though.
Play on a harder difficulty and try that one out
hi Im on a queen mark but I dont see the bosses dungeon can it have not generated properly?
Me when i cant build new big door with spikes on it for my baseπͺ
@brazen hazel
I honestly cant wait... π ive never played mistlands or ashlands and im very excited
If you used the vegvisir before the ashlands update you need to use it again
the sooner you learn to just dodge attacks the better imo
oh okay thank you
tbh yeah good play i havent dodge rolled since ive been able to block trolls.
If an attack can be jumped over, that is better because it uses less stamina than rolling and you can start an attack mid-air
Personally i prefer Mistlands though Ashlands is also a lot of fun if you like a challenge. Landing and establishing a beach head against the hordes was the most fun i've had in Valheim in a while.
you can dodge a lot of attacks just by walking/sprinting, which saves on stamina
ashlands looks like more of my vibe no doubt. i think were gonna use a mod for the mistlands that makes the wisplight better because it just seems awful
It's not that bad, people complain about it because they don't like the idea of restricted visibility
At least try it before using a mod
no doubt yeah.
i find the listening for dangers to be a unique and very intersting task
It was at the beginning, but not too bad once i learned to use my ears over my eyes. And finding cool mist-free spots is always great (they're actually not that uncommon, it's not ALL mist). I actually explore Mistlands for fun now.
you get used to the mist - it is difficult in the beginning if you are used to see your foe before it sees you. but you get used to listen and hear your foe. In the end i ended up liking Mistlands a lot for the beauty of it
what is the best weapon for mistlands?
for starters take frostner
Mistwalker or magic
ooze bombs are good for the dungeons especially
because you need to kill quite some stuff before you can make mistwalker π
the knockback and slowing of frostner will help not to get to overwhelmed
Right, I forgot about the shields.
Although they're kinda expensive for something that could require extensive use.
And one of the materials require black cores, which are limited and also hard to find
You should have enough black cores if you don't find a vegvisir too early
lol i did find it very early and i had a streak of bad luck with finding only 1 or 2 cores in any mine i emptied out... it took some doing to even be able to make all the stuff that needs tthe cores ... but hey... i can always find a fresh mistlandspatch and find some more... π
Not if you plan to use shield generators for spawnproofing.
I'm pretty convinced that they reverted the spawn rate nerfs at live release. Either intentionally or not
It felt overwhelming but fair just before live, but now spawns are just like they were at early PTB
?
i am really fighting hard to stay alive ... can not go 2m far without needing to retreat to a safer spot because just so much stuff comes running
@thorn socket *
How would a software developer unintentionally change something like a spawn rate?
if some comitt did not get pushed to the main-branch for instance
In my experience, the player is overpowered until bronze armour. Then, you'll feel totally inadequate until you cap your Plains gear. For the time in between, the key trait is patience. π
Weeeeeellll i do for certain fell underpowered in my mistlands maxed out gear in ashlands π
I have not even found metal because i keep fighting back stuff all the time π
hi
I've not played Ashlands yet, because the update broke my world and I started again. But I concede to your experience on that one.
is maybe obvious but dont go at night
I don't really know how the game works, can anyone tell me how I can join servers with you?
i never go in the night... the dayspawns are bad enough ...would not want to see what get's thrown at me at night π
