I have no idea what you mean by 'game officially related'.
But i need to get better at the game first
..need to prepare better in-game
Would anyone be interested in hardcore?
like some games have Offical game servers. and would anything thats not released by those or hosted via the same "offically" used hosting service be considered dedicated
There are no dedicated servers run by Irongate, or hosts that are officially recommended by them. The dedicated server application is freely available via Steam, though.
Well, Valheim doesn't have official servers, so they're all privately owned/run.
idk im kinda Smoothed brained
I also had 20 flametal in my grave from PBT before the update but when we updated it and launched it all this was missing
who would bless this water
does the mini boss invade event happen when you kill the boss or "hand in or create what it drops" meaning ashlands
No raids for this
It's a once off miniboss - no repeatable or farmable aspects here
so it wont invade like brenna or any off the other miniboss
Nope
the Bees, of course
Fair enough
any tips how to make 'floor' to flametal pilars overlava? this new stone is crap xd
crap in what way?
Bad structural integrity
You don't - use basalt bombs
can't build high with them?
only thing that doesn't burn in lava is flameta
yeah. and they burn in lava
with how easy it is now to move around iron and other metal, probably not bad idea to make use of iron beams for structural integrity
Can I use the explosive payload without anything
asksvin or ash cape?
Nope
awh
i think feather cape created some bad habits for me so i want to switch
Time to create a post in #1024264966712340510 That way it won't disappear in chat history.
I bumped myself 🙂 thank you
for the new biome update do you have to start a new seed to see the ashlands, like last biome update?
DND role play?
... Valheim clearly.
Dungeons and Dereks
Heh. I'd normally be playing tonight too, but one of our party has a family medical emergency.
Thanks. I hope so too, he's been ill a while.
you guys play DND valheim in here?
No.
I just beat Yagluth for the first time. What now? Do I pack all my stuff up and move to the mistlands, or just enough materials to build a wisp stone or whatever?
Any tips are welcome.
build the wisp stone in your current base and get a whisp light
I built a smaller base on edge of mistlands to get a foothold. my main base is no where near mistlands, worked for me
anyone know if Forsaken power can stack with two different players?
Does that work even if my base is in the meadows?
The same powers do not stack, but you can have multiple powers active at the same time from multiple players.
Anyone have any good mod recommendations want to be mainly vanilla but any quality of life to make the game better and less Grindy cause I wanna play with a few friends and we don’t wanna grind for too many hours for 1 armor set
Just get a mod for 2x or 3x item drops and double carry weight. Same experience, just a quarter of the grind.
You don't need a mod for that, that is settings you can change in the base game
Really?
yep (just has to be dark)
I’ve never been able to find them
Increased resource rate at least. There's still the normal carry limit. But you can build a cart 😉
You need to hit the world modifier button before you load up the world, after you select it but before you start playing.
Valheim+ has some options for that
I remember playing three people had to mine 5 swamps for full level 3 iron for 3 of us
Yeah Gotchu
Will do
If you need to discuss actual mods, that is probably better done in #mods-discussion . But play around with the world modifiers first to see if they are enough 😉
I personally use 1.5 X resources for my solo world, I feel that tends to be about the right amount without being too grindy. Try 2x before hitting 3x, it might be enough.
Might do like 4x cause I’m playing with 6 guys
I believe 3 is the max. When you have more people gathering, that should be more than enough. You shouldn't be doing all the work for them 😉 remember that it applies at the world level, so every single thing is multiplied. It turns into a lot more than you might think.
if you could go 6x yould be very much pissed at how much you get
In my full vanilla world with my friend we played a while back I just remember getting barley and iron was so tedious
almost think a graydwarf would give you 2 or three stacks of stuff
And getting good was a big pain as well
You probably want to build a “main” base that’s closer to edge of map. Probably near equator. Something that’s equidistant to lots of mistlands (that’s more prevalent in outskirts of map near equator)
Because you’ll be getting lots of black metal and iron, easier to ship to a new base vs travel all the way back to map center
1.5 is a great middle ground even for solo, still some work but much less
X2 and above is perfect for coop
Or at least build a forge elsewhere… then use teleports
There's likely some mods that periodically regrow trees, which can help with online. Don't know about ore deposits and dungeons though.
Wood is very renewable
Beech trees are self sustaining if you replant the seeds, and I believe pretty much all species are if you have more than normal resource rates.
The only thing that might not be is ancient wood, but you don't need much of that anyway
i dont think ancient bark has many uses in actual building does it?
Nope. Just the root armor, bonfires and long ship as far as I remember.
It's used in some weapons too
I mean, longships are so nice to have ~5 on hand
has stamina consumption for fishing increased drastically?
because while traveling to another island i brought a rod and bait along with me and couldn't catch ANYTHING
Fishing drains stamina super fast when catching bigger fish. I try to walk them on shore and keep my casts short
Looking at posts online regarding mistlands, many players have noticed that after using the mistbegone mod the fps improves noticeably so I imagine the mist must be causing the majority of the lag for you
Another solution is bringing draw distance way down
I also recommend seeing if your graphics drivers need updating, I did see mine need an update today
guys how do i summon the first boss in game
You have some deer trophies? Put them in a slot in your hotbar and use them on the altar
i have 2
"Sacrifice his kin"
2 should be enough 🙂
Did you go to the altar? The red guidestone (vegvisir) in the center of the tall stones where you started should point you to his altar
oh alright i will go right now
You will find more of those red stones in dungeons and such in other biomes in the world, and they will point you to their associated forsaken.
Question, does anyone know what the "Lightning" (blue) weapon effect actually do?
Just does damage, and a high stagger amount I believe.
Chain Lightning
Ahh, right. That, if you're talking about the weapons in the Ashlands 😉 You can do lightning damage with the Himmnafl before that though.
#screenshots message
finding both at this stage is really good, unless you used a seed generator
Do starred asksvins spawn more commonly at night?
It took 3 days, 7 boats, blood, sweat and a lot of tears... like a lot of tears for me and my bro to finally succesfully get in the ashlands without dying... it took way too long
Yay!
U know u can craft a new boat with queen reward yea?
But u gotta get some rocks from those Ashland pillars to craft it (edit: don’t even need the pillar materials !)
no? you can craft it without any ashlands materials afaik
You make the upgrade station for the artisan table with the Queen's drop, and then make the needed material with black marble at the artisan table.
how can you stop a greydwarf nest to spawn mobs?
Yes that is the boat i am talking about, its just that 4 of them sank on the beach because of charred skeletons, 2 only made it halfway (one of them is still floating somewhere between the spires near the coast and one sank i believe) and only 1 made it, well it got destroyed too but we lived!
By destroying it
Dang thats a lot of iron and yggdrasil to be sacrificed
can a building like workbench stop it?
Nope
Thanks for clarification y’all
Yup, 175 yggdrasil, 700 iron nails and 350 fine wood... damn that sounds bad and we only found the remains of one of our ship, though we didnt find the nails so basically we used 700 iron nails, 150 yggdrasil and 300 fine wood.
bro...
u single handedly caused deforestation of the mistlands
I know... i should go scavenge the beach in hopes of finding something atleast
def do, me and my friend lost a ship but managed to recover some things
If there wasn't a workbench nearby and it got destroyed, most definitely the mats despawned
To be exact it was my friend who got all the yggdrasil, he did deforest our nearest forest in the meadows right when we started the game... with a flint axe
We... lost... 7...
Damn...
try to recover somthing if u can
We'll try
Bro
I serious wish u luck, that sucks so bad
Thx, it did suck indeed
also if u haven't craft the mistwalker
But also the water in the ashlands is boiling, and if you stand it for longer then like 15 seconds, you'll almost instantly die
We made it to Ashlands in longship
Just fine a pillar that’s not in boiling water, and jump from pillar to pillar until land
why cant u teleport the iron pit lmao 😭
Yup i know that, got to experience it when 3 bonemaws did afwul things to our ship
The game should add a troll rug
Im using a lvl3 krom
oh, the krom really isn't that good for ashlands tbh
The mistwalker or the frostner are great weapons to enter the ashlands with.
Ik, my ego is too big. I must wield the biggest sword i can get my hands on
fair, my dark souls spirit applauds u
Bro u just lost 7 ships u ain’t got no ego left
My ships remains may burn in the boiling waters but my ego's flame will never be extinguished!
What if we could loot the moss drapes from Trolls and use them as curtains?
Ego used septuple down
It's super effective!
Give em a little wash...
We have totally not sus sausages from undead, where's the meatballs?
We should have been able to make deer and boar sausages
Those would be much, much tastier.
Imagine a butchery skill where you could take the time to butcher a corpse and obtain more loot from it. Boar tusks could make excellent daggers or knives
tbh, it really is weird that swedish game doesent have meatballs
Asksvin meatballs?
Also why isn't dragon meat a thing? ... nah, they're too sinewy.
Also why does it take several lox meat to make a pie? Have you ever seen a lox leg hanging from the iron hooks?
Two isn't that much
Wait. How do you lose a ship? Just encase a workbench in some stone
These are the questions that keep me up at night 😂
Like. A lox leg and thigh is as tall as YOU. How the HELL is that not enough to make one pie?
Also I kinda wish chicken and dumplings could be a stamina food
Chicken, Carrot, onions, dough
how come my viking will only make sausage casing via zombie guts :p
How do you know??
Would you rather have the intestines of a human rotting for thousands of years in a filthy swamp or those of a freshly-killed deer that ate nothing but grass and shrubbery in the meadows and forest?
Can’t be that bad when it’s cooked right
Unsophisticated barbarians. The Thistle covers it all up!
Now how about lox Entrails? They eat flax and cloudberries. Think of how sweet and delicate the crunch of the sausage casing must taste.
Wait. Why can Lox not be starred but Asksvin can?
4000 hp would just be far too OP for everything
Yet they still fall to deathsquitos
Imagine if we could put armor on Lox. Ride them into battle!
That would take a lot of resources, though... but we could armor them in serpent scales for pierce resist!
Drakkar is huge, oh my lord... it better carry twice the amount of space for being twice the size.
Hell, it looks like it could fit two storage spaces.
Just to clarify, places on the map in meadows that show trees on the map will regrow trees naturally over time right? As opposed to the hills that don’t naturally grow saplings?
no
no trees in valheim regrow naturally
only rocks and branches on the ground does
That’s silly, how come the map doesn’t update then?
Is it too much for the map to be updated? Asking genuinely
Is it possible for a single person with Queen's buff to mine an entire flametal deposit?
I just wish they didn't make the deposit sink forever.
early acess
because the minimap updating for everything you do. would be very costly when it comes to performance
and also. those minimap / map pictures are just a image showing you which biome you're in mostly
Anyone have thoughts on the iron battleaxe?
It's expensive to build but fun. I enjoy baxe
It’s good if you’re jump attacking, otherwise you’re too vulnerable
Atgier probably better tho
Atgeir is always better
The battleaxe is just really slow but it's a satisfying weapon to use
Is Black Forge level 5 the highest right now?
Yes
Dang, I assumed there would be more so I farmed so much flametal
If you're playing with friends, it's a really solid for crowd control, since it has high knockback and a big damage cone
What does everyone think of a hammer toss secondary attack for a 2h mace?
Idk tbh I think the hammer alt attack would make more sense if it were something like an uppercut
Yknow, something that would funnel the AOE damage into something more single target
I have a suggestion like that
Depending on how long you spin, you do more damage, but less splash radius
I mean more like a bigger version of the frostner alt attack
So if you want to kill that specific creature, spin 3 times. If you want to play bowling, spin once.
I'm not particularly sure that kind of attack would hold a place in a game like valheim where all the attack animations are more simplistic, and more realistic
You can throw a spear. Let's hammer throw.
Well, spears are made for throwing, but I cannot see a person-even a viking-throwing a giant hammer that already is difficult for them to swing
That's why you spin to gain momentum
Have you tried spinning with a 15 pound sledge before?
Yes. It wouldn't do a lot of damage. Or have any accuracy
Then how about we just make this a weapon in and of itself? Viking make chain and ball of iron. Viking throw. Viking happy.
The shot put is 16 pounds.
One hit to stop you and you'll fall over
I'd think you'd fall over after releasing anyways, given that you'd need to lean way back to create a sustainable centre of balance
Perhaps that could be another stagger animation? Maybe staggering after throwing the ball
Maybe it could just be a spin attack. like the atgeir but slower, ignores some knockback resistance (so maximum knockback isn’t too high but resistant enemies will go further than expected) and has high recovery time? Maybe a multi target penalty too
Will it do more damage?
Hear me out on this, put the head on the ground and spin, only does 1/4 dmg but does double stagger dmg
I feel horrible for atgeir/bow and even spear users this update. Completely invalidates them.
Frostner supremacy reigns.
How come? enemies have pierce resist?
Nearly everything, yes.
Ah well
I think being able to knockback resistant enemies would make sledgehammers more useful because they don’t seem that great for anything to me
Speaking of 2h, how well does demolisher deal with Ashlands creatures? I'm thinking I could just spam the attack while my buddies wail on them
I mean, just look at the last biome, at least there's a damage type they don't resist!
Forst
I just mean the bugs resisting all physical
Also spirit damage really doesn't matter if it's damage over time. When you're swarmed, you want the creatures dead yesterday.
I wish spirit damage was instant like Frost. It's bad enough the majority of creatures are immune to spirit.
Also, the new fire sword is extremely underwhelming. 10 fire damage? Really? What's that going to do?
mild sunburn
You know what has more fire damage than Dyrnwyn? A torch.
And it gains no fire damage on upgrades. What the hell?!
I think the fire damage on dyrnwyn is just to give enemies the fire debuff, the high slash allows it to stagger well and deal decent damage to the fire resistant enemies of the ashlands
It seems more like the Frostner of Deep North. Supposed to take care of fire-weak monsters, but it just...
It's on fire but it only does 10 fire damage
Brenna's sword does 75 fire damage. Why can't we just have her fire Krom instead?
I dislike DOT damage. It just doesn't HIT.
mobs should look like you dropped a bonfire on them after every hit
Unsure if /s or genuine
yeh kidding
Also why no lightning staff?
Ooo, what if we had a Staff of Thunder that deals lightning damage but applies a wet debuff as a secondary attack? POCKET WATER
if they buffed the fire aspect they'd only take it away somewhere else anyway
Lightning shotgun > Lightning staff
Water shotgun + lightning shotgun
I bet you water attacks would be viable. Charred enemies would hate them.
That could work for my suggestion of dual-wielded magic shotguns?
hosepipe*
what if we had a chronomancer staff that reverts the enemies back into foetesus
Bukeperry staff to slow enemies and reduce their max hp
Syrpyntspout could be the name of the water gun
I bet that's what powers the fuling mages' staff. They're always carrying bukeperries.
Enemies that can apply bukeperries debuff would be perfectly balanced for the final biome of Valheim
Oh god no
Anybody know when we’re getting that ocean rework
Nope, no idea yet.
Can’t wait for a kraken enemy
maybe we finally see that spectral armor
I wish we had frost bolts. Screw pierce damage. Eat icicles, you fiend.
ayo looking for some input. Been hatching on a build idea for a while but been waiting for ashlands to do it, wanna build a super large tower. gonna use mainly black marble and end result will look similar to the tower of orthanc from lotr. however curious on input as to if I should build the tower on land or in the ocean, one thing to note is I will be using commands to spawn a stone spire for extra structure support so I can build a taller tower overall
sap collectors work when they are not loaded in right?
yes
got it
i just went through my sap farm and the roots were full but the collectors barely collected anything
i assume because the root was not loaded in when it filled up
once the roots are dry it takes some time to refill
they were refilled
and the thing was they were all pulsating with energy
the first one was stopped but once i went back to the area later it filled up
i assume the roots were defaulted to empty as the area was unloaded
I wonder if you need to be within the presence of the sap collectors, similarly to how you need to remain within a certain distance of tamed creatures for them to breed.
i dont need to as the one that was loaded in with a full root filled up when i checked again
so its most likely that the roots were not loaded in as full
and hopefully they will work now
Ocean view
I hope the devs consider my suggestion that makes flametal deposits temporarily sink into the lava.
Or top of a Mountain View especially on a seed with those insanely tall mountains
Big doubt considering there’s other sources
Any builders around at the moment? I have a very silly question as I can't get a very basic build's proportions
whatcha got?
May I pm you as I can't post a reference picture here
you think so? it would be harder to do ocean but overall in the end it would be good on performance. less lag for a large build in the ocean than on land
#building-screenshots would work.
you could post in one of the building channels, #building-screenshots or #building-discussion
Oh, for some reason I didnt activate seeing all channels, I gues. Only valheim chat was visible to me
Did post it now
on #building-screenshots as the other one doesn't accept pictures, either
For the swamp biome is the sword with the shield better or the mace with the shield when you start off i still have bronze
Sword just looks cooler i think 🧐 but someone told me mace is better but the stats look the same
From own experience:
Sword works great against Draugr.
Mace works great against skelletons, blobs, oozers and Bonemass. And works good against Draugr.
mace also has a better secondary for dealing with leeches. it's a trick with the sword.
For leeches I use a bow with wooden arrows.
Makes it a lot easier to kill them, without having to fear getting bitten and having to deal with the poison damage they do.
I used to do that, usually now I just use the secondary on the axe, since it's got the downard swing as well.
you can hit them from shore with it.
Word thanks for the tips i appreciate it
My seed is ass ngl my second boss is was right next to the plains everytime i was fighting him little goblins game running up swaushing me
You could have always looked for anothe altar.
I'm currently playing at a seed called Landfall, which has the advantage that the first 5 bosses are at the same large continent.
However, the Queen is quite a distance away from everything; although she does have one location which is quite close to the coast.
Not exactly clear for a player that there even is multiple of the same altar
That's a fair point.
Yea idk how to find multiple only one but i eventually got it after like 6 deaths at least i know where the plains is now
I'm very fond of Haldor1 .. so many pretty build locations
Ill check it out
The rune tablets that give their location give the closest altar so you can always travel far from the altar hoping for a rune stone to give another location. Alternatively there’s the world see viewer online but that’ll spoil your world for you
If you found the first one east of spawn you could always go west there’s a good chance there’s another somewhere
Ah i see i was wondering how i saw some pictures and there was multiple spawn name locations i did end up traveling quite a ways and was looking at other rune tablets but i think they were saying location already marked
So many new players this days
Yep, the new update brought in a lot of new folk. Good for the game.
i Hope they enjoy that game how much I enjoy it until today
#building-ideas message Flattening went perfect spent an extra 4 Hours on it then i thought i would have xD Not its perfectly Flat everywhere
That haldor1 seed is so similar to mine it is almost uncanny same mountains in same place execpt different land shapes and random oceans also some biomes missing even haldor is only somewhat a bit away from he is on my seed and the entire northwest of the main continent is the exact same 💀
Is this normal with other seeds?
Yeah, each map is basically cookie cut out of a master map.
isnt that normal
What?
but could happen eventually
same world generation so id expect it to be the same but with different "Features"
Mine seeds and friend seeds are completely different, expected from a procedural generated world
Yes, the master map is a fair bit larger than the game map so potentially you could have less overlap.
what is the "Master map"
The map that all other maps are taken from.
so the same world generator. ? or am i missing something
did we got the master map seed?
There is no seed.
ok so your saying the entire "Map" that every other map is combined from is not considered "Master map" in every other game just imagine Minecraft there is no "Master map" in that game and not here aswell its all randomally generated
thats atleast how iv "grasped" it with my limited info
but its atleast first time iv heard the world Master map could be an amazing "Lost world" dlc in the coming future should Trade mark it for sure
How would remotely work? The master map is much larger than the game is.
If I'm correct it's essentially the map generating system. The system requires Island presets for it to choose from and "randomly" select islands to use + place them in a seed.
but I could be wrong here
oooh that could be. but wouldnt they just randomally generate that aswell with 1's n 0's
lost me at randomly generate
Valheim does really got less Gigabytes than other games
Yeah, the map is not randomly generated, the map is taken from the master based on the seed number, then the biomes are determined and then the POIs.
Look at seeds ZgqJbZSLMz and Haldor1 at https://m.valheim-map.world/ they look almost similar it’s like looking at a continent break up
the "master map" they just feed it data. for it to generate mountain highs etc and valleys. i wouldnt assume they had a map for everything just that its generated
I give up. I'm not assuming anything.
Okey. You can give up but im atleast trying to understand.
There isn't assuming going on, the information is factual/definite 😛
Well, no, I've told you X and then you said, but it could be Y.
sorry if my autistic ass didnt understand you actually trying to explain it. i thought it was a discussion. Please dont be a teacher
Like, Procedural generated wolrds arent a new thing
I don't believe anyone said they were new. But they're not all created the same way.
For me to enjoy a survival game, the game needs to have proc gen
It shouldn't be so hard to understand
If anything, Valheim's proc gen systems are different compared to other games
but I don't tap into the proc gen systems as much as others here so I can't say
Darkfanta1 is also similar
what are that seeds names dude
What are which seed's name?
Is this still about the master seed?
Unique experiences are the best part for survival games
It would be cool to play a valheim mod that combines all the seeds
Just have the most insanely large map
Eh, it wouldn't be that different from normal, it would just be a fair bit larger.
i Def would play it
weird, I didn't get the orange box. Did you silent ping me? I assumed people still got the orange box in chat even with the reply ping disabled
That’s the point though
I can do that If you want xd
there we go
More resources and space for a community
Oh, yeah, it would suit a larger player group for sure. The current world is sorta balanced for 5-6.
No, you dont get the Orange box If i turn It off
I like those servers where you can find bases from 50 different people
The only issue is looking for your own spot
Interesting, completely missable then
eh, many worlds does not got many big meadows
Meadows make me sad
i cannot start valheim on old save if i updated it?
wait 5 minutes
will all updates be there if i dont sart over? does it bug the game out
for example cyberpunk required new save game to run dlc .... was just curious igot one pretty good save i kinda wanna play it...
You'll be fine unless you built on the new zones before they were updated, in which case... You'll still be fine. Just your buildings won't be.
wait i thought that full game is out now?
the Ash update, yes
Depends at how much you have discovered and where you have build.
If you have discovered Ashlands before the update, it may not regenerate the way it has to be.
If you've build there or build too close to it, the buildings may be destroyed.
But if you haven't been there, things will update the way it should.
Only "problem" you may run into is that undiscovered locations may have moved away from where they were before the update.
Up to now I'm certain some boss locations and locations for Hildir's Quest are affected.
Can confirm that last.
You just need some minutes to load First time joining in new Biome update
As for Hildir's quest: best way to solve that is to visit her and check her map again.
New locations of the dungeons / towers may be added to your map; making it possible to complete her quest again.
ok i give up
I found a Draugr camp in meadows. Do they respawn once the corpse piles are clear?
if you destroyed the body piles, no.
you can leave the piles alone, and place balistae facing them, farm guts
I destroyed them, yep. Don't ask me how I did it, I just did it. It was hard.
Why are you farming guts if you're already using ballistae? Sincerely curious.
sausage must flow
lol ok. I'm a pie man, myself.
Might as well raid all the infested mines.
Plenty of sausages to find in there.
Dear Odin,
Please don't visit me in the Swamp at night again.
Signed,
A Viking that has to change his pants now
LOL
Pro tip: Wear the leather pants when going into the swamp.
Makes it easier to hide the brown stain. 😉
Guys, i might be a little late, but there’s a fallen valkyrie weapon??
I saw a discussion about it earlier
Comedy club for this guys
That is wild 💀
What is the best ammo for the ballista
Wooden missiles are cheap and easy to make, black metal does the most damage.
Given that wood is somewhat easier to come by as black metal, I prefer the former.
I finally got the wilds staff and I am insanely impressed
What prompted this
And i find black metal to be easy to farm tbh
Wrong message
are there only 2 vendors in the world?
just found Haldor
But really the only reason why you would ever use wooden missiles is just to train block skill as black metal is infinite and plentiful while still allowing to craft a much stronger missile
Does haldor not give a quest?
No, that's hildir
You can train block skill with the turrets?
They target you so yes.
Just hold block while they keep shooting at you
Sick
Wait they target you? 😆 Making me think twice about making one when I unlock them again lol.
Override the targeting with trophies
That sounds kinda poopy though, there's too much variation in biome & boss raids.
To my understanding Haldor in the blackforest doesn't but the other vendor (Hildir) does.
ok
Good thing you can build many to solve that issue
Too MUCH variation? That's a new one.
what were they hoping for? surtlings every time?
Why is this game so epic? I wanted it to be boring and repetitive ffs.
I literally CAN play like this...
Well I just found out that the asksvin cape helps with swimming...
It increases the swimming speed notably
Also asksvin cape + fenris set makes me feel like a cat at 3 am
Does valheim have a current roadmap?
who has the valheim server called "hide yo iron bars yall" lol
No, all we know is that Deep North will be the final biome. There's an expectation of another update to the Oceans but we have no idea how much that will entail.
Anyone run into Hildir’s locations not spawning?
Went to Howling Caverns spot and there’s nothing there
Did you have them marked before the update?
bats vs two star wolf...
POIs (points of interest) tend to move after updates, so you'll need to trigger her again probably.
Thanks!
Just came upon an active dverger mining outpost, can I safely mine the armor and bone within their vicinity w/o them aggroing us?
scariest biome for me is plains, before I'm ready for it. the deathsquitos are no joke. mountains with no cold protection is dicey too
deathsquitos attacking your wee boat as you sail by in lower levels always makes my butthole pucker
carry a bow with you, generally finewood or better with whatever arrows you want. Keep ears open and eyes peeled. sneaking in the plains early on can help you get the drop on d-squitos before they do you. in an emergency, you can parry their attack with a good shield and food, or just hit them with your melee with good timing
generally I wait til they stop, or start coming for me before I loose an arrow, which will always kill them (citation needed)
if sailing past the plains, I always recommend staying fed. The health can help you survive a hit from a squito or the pufferfish that like to jump into boats. Travel through the water fast, or far from shore if you don't feel prepared for squitos
not sure this works...I might be screwed?
if i load a old world can ashlands be imported? (barely explored the world)
no, when it's generated the first time, thats it
Do you get your surtling cores back if you need to move your kiln and furnace?
Yes
Okay good, last time I played you didn't, but I figured it had been a few years.
so, my friend and i have gotten plenty of ||soft tissue, black marble, and just started extracting sap,|| but where do we continue from there? how do we craft the workbenches?
|| Black cores are the thing you need, check out some more infested mines ||
if the asksvin does not show a tame % when i mouse over it does that mean it isn't taming?
Do the fortresses not have ||flametal anymore since the ptb? Just did two and no metal ||
mine still do
Do creatures drop the same amount of loot every time? For example, I have killed about 10 greylings and each one dropped exactly 3 resin. I do have mods installed, idk if that effects it or not tho.
It's at 1.5x
thats not bad. so its about 1-3 each Kill you just got lucky
Picking flint, stone, and so far creature drops all have a "set" drop from my gameplay so far
Most you should get on 1.5x tho is 2 resin per greydwarf
I’m finally ready to start building my first castle on my new world
if i break the cartography table, will it lose the data from other people? Or is it saved
break and move it to a new location*
is there a way to force a felled tree to fall in a certain direction?
You lose it
seems witch ever way you are chopping the tree will fall that way
Anyone know how long it takes the new beast to mature from a hatchling?
It fell directly onto my head and bounced off my walls
holy then i just must be lucky alot of the trees i choped down have always fell in the direction i was chopping
exception being if i was on a hillside
can som one tel me haw to teleport using the dev camands?
I make this mistake every time I play, lol. I get super excited after defeating Bonemass, knowing I'm (mostly) done with Swamp... Then I get steamrolled running into the Mountains lmao.
Have you always been able to plant Jotun Puffs and Magecap?
Hey guys, anyone has a good seed recommendation?
htsE7kJL5K The Challenge, just get off the island with a fresh character
Tho there is not as much seeds there as it used to be you can still look through #1202740443352137838 😄
Yeah I looked into it, but most of them are pre-Ashlands, wouldn't this modify the layout of the map, at least partially?
hey idk where to ask this but where would i ask for someone to teach me how to play valheim again. i played like once a couple months back and i dont remember anything :(
Some things such as boss spawns will be in different places but biomes and terrain shouldn’t be different
check the LFG channel, start a fresh run and play with others. good place to learn
okie tysm <3
yup, have fun!
how do i turn up gamma for the game i find it quite dark and my screen brightness is on 100%
try turning SSAO off
i did. didnt see a difference
Just noticed Skill issue... i got the wrong motior xD Please let me live this down
and incase someone wants to Join my dedicated server to Join build stuff. im more then happy to give you the IP. if this is the wrong server to say that my bad 🙂
how does enemy waves determine where they're allowed to spawn?
Like in a raid or in general?
During a raid, id imagine. When you get a message on your screen and a red circle around you
when your in the circle they spawn, if your not only the spawned ones will hunt you, if your too far away, the raid timer is paused
onces inside ony a specific amount will spawn and as they die, more will spawn to fill the number allowed at once
with troll raids i think only 2 are allowed? or was it 4?
Where do they spawn though? If you have a wide enough base can they spawn inside walls?
Through my play throughs, when I have a big base they spawn outside of a building. Though depending on the boss you're progressing towards - some fly
If you have a megalith of a base I'd have to test it
does tar pit works like a spawner? Im not sure if I can destroy it somehow or will it always produce growths
Morgen gjall.
hi hi
i was told that it spawns back after 1-2 ingame days you could potentially set a portal there and Rekill them if possible. but I heard this from a youtube shorts so the information could be missleading
base items like campfires, crafting stations and most light sources block spawns in a radius around them, so enemies don't spawn inside your base as long as you use those.
You can place enough of those around that no enemies can spawn at all but it takes some work.
Noted. Does a workbench protect its entire radius?
yes
Cool, thank you
you can block the growth spawns with campfires too.
okay then, well I'll think of something because my new base will be close to a tar pit, maybe I'll just close it off somehow
ooo thank you
so if I just place a structure considered a player base it will prevent them from spawning yes
if lava is "too cold" for asksvin egg, then what is warm enough
a camp fire? seriously
Whats the best way to deal with these new raids?
They suck balls and waste my time creating spawners so i Actually have to kill them before it gets out of hand
Technically the best way is probably turning them off and just not dealing with them. Can't struggle with them if they never come.
joke aside I have no idea. I haven't gotten past eikthyr yet in my current progression and I started all over. Not played much at al the last week.
Eh fair point
I still don't know if I like raids or not, cause I have been burned by them happening when I had to just leave the pc for a few minutes and didn't log off my character. They give me such mixed feelings cause you could loose your house just cause you had to run outside with the dog.was fine if I had friends playing with me but solo it can be quite punishing.
I haven't figured out how to control it yet on my dedicated server. so gotta look into it.Thou I might just play singleplayer cause I found out none of my friends play at all anymore.
If you are playing alone, and need to leave the computer, you can just hit the menu and it pauses the game, no?
You could spawn proof your base, make a moat or earthen wall around the base.
After that make sure the whole area is covered in player base structures so no spawn can happen, maybe even go out of the base and bury some workbenches for a greater spawn proof radius.
You can then do whatever you want and the only mobs you will have to care about are drakes and bats.
I have done that a few times. I find them interresting and fun most of the time. they can just be annoying when you're on a dedicated server alone and can't pause and you just have to leave quickly for whatever reason and come back to a troll smacking your wall or roof.
but as toolshred said. if you're solo you can just enter the menu.
Reminds me why I ended up playing on a solomap everytime I wasn't playing with friends.
hey guys, does anyone know how armor works? If im blocking, is only block armor taken into account for demage reduction, or does it get added on top of normal armor (demage reduction wise, not staggering)
why does it keep saying no skill drain when I'm definitely losing skills?
ty judge
If you die you lose skills but you are protected from more skill loss for 10 minutes.
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/No_skill_drain
I know what it is, but I just lost 2 points while having No Skill Drain
thats not usually possible? you sure you didnt misremember? or that it ran out a second before you died?
after my first death I checked my run stat, 39. then I died during no skill drain. then I recovered my body and got back to base. I just then decided to check again and it was 37.
Easiest death penalty sets skill drain at 1%, it doesn't remove it
That’s weird. Maybe it ran out just as you died? It should say “the gods are merciful” in the corner of your screen if you die with no skill drain
i wish roots would attack spawners
these jade item are really cool though, also not something id have expected to find in these lands
Best way to avoid this is to built your base close to a dungeon - hop in the dungeon and voila, no raids can spawn
got a vulture stuck on my boat ealier, turns out vultures make it go faster than rowing or sailing
ahhh, I built an outpost connected to a trollcave once. never thought about it possibly stopping raids if I pop inside.
Much like using the flying command, if they level to the boats floor and move "forward" , it will push the boat.
I can see the advertisement now.. "new Vulture powered boats get you to where you need to go faster than rowing**(may require small blood sacrifice) "
Enables flying around, a bunch of vulters leashed to a wooden staff
I'd prefer a twitcher staff.
Lets you summon 2-3 twitchers per level. Easy to kill, but work as fodder
Army vs army
yeah, though might be too similar to skeletons
how do you make your berserkir axes thundering?
you need to find other material in ashlands, so explore further - more surprises to discover.
Can you make the base weapon first then upgrade it to a magical variation later (the ashland weapons) ? Or do you need to craft it in to the magical variant straight away
you craft the base weapon and then upgrade it
Alright thanks, just wanted to make sure so I don't end up "wasting" materials
just don't upgrade your base weapon as it will reset to the base level when given an attribute
Yeah alrighty
Max upgraded Mistwalker seems pretty nice for AShlands though so gonna have to wait and see if any of the new weapons are good enough to match it
There are some pretty broken new weapons that make the ashlands a joke
At least in normal mode. In very hard you are insta-kill from almost anything so you have to run mage build with staff of protection so you don't die every second
I would say
Very hard isnt a standard
valheim has a weird difficulty cliff, before plains everything feels like a standard progression
after plains, it feels like a cliff
Definitely not
I enjoy a challenge so thats why I'm running a very hard world
after my Ashlands is finished i will probably risk that too
making a roof still works, thanks
Just be ready to be a one shot from everything
Ye, Light armors and eikhtyr power will be my allies
don't use armor
basically
I skipped all the armor until mistlands
the staff of protection and magic makes the game so much easier
is it smart to build base protection like a wall before going into the ashlands?
Landing in the ashlands and making a beach head with earthen walls is certainly a good idea.
I feel like the problem is we don’t prepare properly for the later biomes
If you use everything available to you to succeed it’s not that much of a difficulty spike
The central tenet of Valheim is Prepare, Prepare, Prepare.
Rested bonus, potions+meads, best available food, best available armor and weapons, portals
Take a stroll and then prepare some more.
In a interview grimmcore said the idea of the biome progressions is that you eventually master the new biomes
Each new biome is meant to feel like a new thing to master and be challenging
sucks that the roots hitting enemies doesnt give you any magic XP
Is it only the initial summon?
as far as I can tell
imo the only good magic for ashlands is blood magic
trolstav and staff of protection are op
and you can make a farm to get level 100 blood magic afk
which makes your protection bubble have 700 health
I've heard that the staff of embers is good as well.
I haven't found it to be useful in ashlands
i really love the root so far, though I havent found the troll stav yet
don't click if you dont want to be spoiled -> ||it is basically dead raiser but with trolls||
it can singlehandedly take out a valkyrie
Just spam staff of protection and you will be alright
It has gotten significantly easier than when it first released in the public test
Still D:
Much, much easier.
I played in the beta
It was painful
Solo
Huh, you don't have the Tester role.
I just joined the discord
Pre-release ashlands were oof
But I have over 1k hours in the game and have been playing the public tests
But it is atleast challenging
I enjoyed that a lot
it was to easy on normal difficulty for all the other biomes
Then get the role and you can provide feedback on future tests.
where fo you get it?
I just checked my roles and I actually do have the role
Click on Channels & Roles and then I want to be a tester.
Weird, I swear you didn't a second a go.
Discord is wierd sometimes 🤷
I have no roles.... but i am fine :3
*wonders why people would play test but not provide feedback *
I just found out there was a discord today
some people just want to play it early
Sadly.
Ooh, the soundtrack is finally updated.
Which isn't the main point of PTB
Where? Steam?
Ye I was very happy with that
I had the sound turned off the majority of the time from hearing it so many times
Nvm, just saw it
What's even more important, ashlands boss theme is there.
That shit slaps 👋
It is in the channel pins though under "Should I opt-in the Public Test branch?"
- or just want to explore the new content -
I will try the nomap no portail hardcore soon but how can u find bosses ? Only luck and exploring ?
probably mostly luck
I implied that it's one of the reasons, but not the main purpose
Deep North when
If you find a vegvisir your toon will get turned towards the boss location, if you find multiple you can triangulate.
Dandelion, Barley (not Barley flour), Beech seeds, Birch seeds, Carrot seeds, Onion seeds or Turnip seeds.
Eh? Not the ingame one.
ya I had my ingame music off
Yes, but that's not what I was saying has been updated.
Oh without mod ? Good to know
Dude, I found three Leviathans only 10~20 meters apart from each other.
Man, having an outpost with a forge far away from base is extremely useful. I can use the iron I found to make the Longship and use that to transport all iron I could possibly find in the Swamp.
I missed out on this type of gameplay when I decided to change my settings to unrestricted portals mid-game (Late-Swamp / Mountains) on my previous playthrough.
I for one am glad you can fiddle with the settings after making the world, so if you don't feel like sailing you can just hop out of the game change the setting and voila.
You can also use devcommands to teleport but yeah.
I've made a rule to not change the settings and keep it as is upon creation. My current save only has the Fire Hazard setting turned on.
What are your strategies for obtaining Flametal? I think this is the most annoying of all the mining processes they've introduced.
Raiding fortresses. Although sometimes I'll use Queen power on a flammetal spire so I can oneshot the deposits
Truly loving everything about Ashlands except the insane spawn rate of mobs. Like, can I please go 10 feet without fighting 7 1 star units?
I'm a bit torn. I love that this feels like an actual battlefield. I've learnt that the only enemies I need to respect are marksmen and voltures on the battlefield, everything else can be kited with ease. But those two can misbehave if you're already low on stamina or lose sight of them for just a second
As a mage I fear voltures when my barrier breaks and they're more than 2 and I'm <40 stamina
It's just like The Queen fight. Not at all balanced for solo play. I'm also trying to not use any magic this playthrough and it feels impossible.
yeah I feel like they dropped the ball on balancing here. Magic feels way too strong.
greataxes use polearm attacks right?
Yeah but they're slower
mkie ty
It is
Also the imobilization is op
morgens are jokes because you can just keep them immobilized the entire fight
Anyone got a good idea to put Grausten roofs on a 2 story house. I got iron posts for supports but they start to break as you get away from the support beams. Would the answer just be more iron posts?
Maybe try raising the ground
and then make it super thin with the pickaxe
I never really do that. They're so easy as it is, they just run around alot. They're dramaqueens really, they make a lot of noise but don't really achieve anything. They're always the last I kill in a big fight. As long as you jump when they do their lunge, they will never touch you.
so it is hidden in the wall
True. Or just summon a troll and problem solved
My cart falling down the mountainside with a few stacks of silver:
https://tenor.com/view/rolling-down-viralhog-riding-a-toy-car-down-the-hill-epic-fail-gif-17281320
Possibly in the save files
I realized something... if you skip killing a boss in your world or kill it in another world, none of the future bosses you kill add new stuff to meadows gang wars? I killed Yag in another world to avoid having fulings in meadows... but killing queen doesn't make ticks spawn at night?
I had that happen to me before. No tombstone showed up at all and when I logged in I was naked in my bed
Actual factual cartography and landnav
Is there some method of determining your heading in nomap mode?
Sun ?? 😀
Apparently yggdrasil runs east to west, with the trunk in the east and the branches growing out towards the west
Good to know haha
I went to the infested citadel to kill the queen, BUT THERE’S AN infested mine there?!?!
I’m so confused
I was going to do big pillar haha
Did you use the vegvisir before or after the ashlands update?
Before…
Use it again or find a new one
I just realized you can play Valheim like Fortnite
Do you mean building mid-fight or something else?
Yeah
Man that’s so sad. Thank you for the help, thought that happened. All those hours of sailing 🥲
building mid fight to draw in ranged enemies is something i like to do from time to time
Fortnite would be proud
At least Derek and some of the mods and helpers still look familiar. Its been over a year, so I guess that is not all that surprising.
I thought Flametal Leviathans respawned if we hadn't mine the all thing, is that not the case?
The ones that sink? They are gone for good.
sometimes they dont disappear, ive found when dying near one, it resets
I would guess that has more to do with the file saving. I just know once they sink, they are gone for good.
that sucks
so if I pop back in the portal when the trembling starts, it resets the counter or whatever controls how many times we can mine them?
Its probably far more reliable to get them out of the chests in the citadels.
logging out doesnt work at least, just dumps you into lava
welcome back Rob
Another name change?
this is all Smiffe
Is there a disadvantage of having Valheim on Microsoft Store?
😄
yeah you wont get steam achievements on release
Anyone found starred ||Fallen Valkyries||? The unstarred ones are manageable but I would imagine starred ones being pretty horrible
boys I need a safe haven world
To heal up. Got caught with my pants down. Was mining tar and got the notif for the wolf raid 😂😂
just make a new world and join it with your character, no?
If you're in the Plains, try and flee to some nearby Loxen. They'll help distract the wolves and probably take out several
you keep bonemass power with you?
I was in my plains base. Just trying to mine some tar and these big ass wolves come over the heal snapping their fingers after my lucky charms
Negative. Eyk all the way
get what u get then
It's bad boys. I tried to run to my teleporter but apparently had an ingot in my inventory so they busted down the door
I assume you're rested if you're near home. Wolves are fast, but you should be able to outrun them with Eikthyr. Maybe kite them in circles until the raid ends.
is the ''you are being hunted'' raid not limited to a ''base raid''? does it happen even if you are out in the wild?
Wolf hunts can happen anywhere. I've had then happen when I was sailing in open ocean
Think I was technically over a sunken Black Forest or something, but I just kept sailing without consequences. Eventually it despawned.
Right... yeah i don't like to give up the elder power... but when i get to the mountains level i just im forced to use bonemass..
Pups don't swim very fast. Probably don't like getting hit by a Longship at ramming speed
YEAH RIGHT, good luck lining the ship lol
I logged into a safe Haven world and I’m just sitting down healing up. I had good food on board already so I just have to wait till I’m healed up.
The other day I harpooned a Fuling Berserker and dragged it around the water a bit
Reason I panic is because I’m doing a no death run right now
OH yeah that's scary
CLENCHED
How far is your base? The wolf raid is probably still going
It’s not too far. I think in total there is about 15 wolves. I was able to kill about eight of them, but then they started to stagger me. If I didn’t have good food on board would’ve been dead long ago.
Dying in valheim is normal
No real need to keep fighting them until the raid ends. They can only spawn so many at a time
This is true. Just wanted the challenge. On the fifth boss rn so making progress
I still die even though in top padded armor and using the best foods, the best weapons
I died to a Horde attack in maxed out padded armor. Had nothing to mitigate fire damage from the shaman
Fully upgraded padded, 208 hp, weapons from mistland materials
1 star fuling: lol, that all you got?
Kinda hard to go head to head with most things
hard mode?
Well I tried to log back in to the main world
Anything post mountain with a star will one shot you
I can't post pics on this channel right?
game made for normal, the rest of difficulties are simple mob buffs
Normal difficulty I'm usually fine against 1star Fulings. Not so much the Berserkers though
i`d expect a higher difficulty to involve more than simply adding more dmg+hp to mobs
Lol
thats why i avoid such artificial diff increases
I know some games make resource gathering and costs take longer at higher difficulties. I think increasing mob quantities would add a lot of challenge, too.
intelligence, trickery etc wouold be more challenging
like in HoMM3, easy AI would simply come attack flimsy at you, while very hard would resort to harrasment, small & distraction attacks, mass armies and full use of magic
Some games will build combat around the highest difficulty and then remove whole mechanics for easier modes
The issue is increasing diffiuclty via AI capability means the difficulty of combat needs to be based on the AI's actions in the first place.
And with the combat mechanic tweaks, that means there needs to be enough complexity that even after paring it back its still satisfying
in valheim it doesnt add anything extra at higher difficulty
simply making mobs stronger + more damage only has you hack at them for a longer time, using the same tactics or cheese
Valheim, as fun as it is, has some pretty basic combat with very little complexity from non-boss enemies
i find difficulty in this game a moot option.
That's a very counter-intuitive statement. Please explain?
its a simple difficulkty increase that makes little sense
Its just HP bloat on enemies. Its not harder, it's just longer.
mobs have more hp + damage. That is it. If my mistwalker damage and armor was increased just as much as the mobs,. the game would feel 100% nromal.
yes, simply longer; same shit
If there are difficulty scales that provide tangibly different game experiences, they're clearly not moot.
it does not offer anytthting else
insteadd of spending 1 min with that mob to kill it, takes me 2 now
I think the issue is setting the game to "hard" doesnt make it harder, just slower
maybe, more stamina strict management, but really its like pulling a cats tail
Higher damage at the same tier can force a change in strategy, though. You may be able to parry something in Normal that would stagger you in Hard.
I think that's why the Fulings behave as they do. Greydwarves will just run at you like excited toddlers, but Fulings will try and circle you first.
I wish valheim had super in depth combat mechanics.
Fair enough. @smoky quarry, I understand. I don't have the experience to agree, but if 'difficulty' is being manifested through 'time investment', that's lazy & bad; agreed.
now imagine, at Hard, they expand that tactic to something more challenging
instead its the same stuff, x2;
unless having skill poijnts at 100, maybe then theres a balance. but tf my skill points are meh after 1500+ days
You mean like Seekers that don't get confused by any number of rock formations? 😛
I like when difficulty increases enemy speed, attack frequency, and attack speed. Make me have to execute cleanly under tighter time requirements. That always feels really good to me and you feel the difficulty increase immediately
id combine mob raids in Hard, maybe increase skill reuse and target acquiring, stuff like that
i like ashlands style, more challenge. maybe they have something in plan yet
YES
Ive been trying to explain this to people the "difficulty" and resources are just a time thing
Ive picked this game up and put it down like 5 times. I finallly started a new world with 3x drops and BOY did it make solo more fun, lol.
"oh but you're cheesing the game" nah i just dont wanna spend 30 hours on one project
I use 3x as well

Idk why devs think putting ♾️ damage in swamp enemies tier is hard
some people do like Pain
is just annoying that you can even wear an armor
i mean, ashlands is hard mostly bc of the spawn rate no enemies except for stars can one shot you with heavy armor set
I like pain when i can dish out as much as i can take.
See mortal sin as an example. Bosses can one hit you pretty reliably but you are an absolute whirlwind of death with as many combo routes as some fighting games
btw i like hard mode bc bosses are actually hard to beat
Again idk if bosses are hard more than they are spongy
Agreed. Artificial difficulty by just having increased spawn rates all of the times is not fun.
You spend more time to kill so more enemies will spawn around, they have more hp, do more damage (and seems to be smarter?)
I think valheim would really shine with a combat overhaul. Simple things like light/heavy attack combos, more dynamic attack animations, AND BEING ABLE TO ATTACK UP AND DOWN would go a long way to making the combat feel more impactful
Nah they aren't smarter
Ashlands became a lot more fun since taking over a fortress. It's a great safe haven
Moder doesnt
i think we need more weapons, the arbalest and two handed sword was cool additions
Locked animations feel really clunky when you're fighting 8 things at once.
magic is just valheim at easy mode
Its just annoying in the ashlands i dont like getting jumped by 30 skeleton fucks the moment i set foot in there that track me from another universe
game is pretty hard as is for something not willing to spend 500h in it and just wants to get on with it
Or enemies falling out of combos because of knockback and you not being able to move mid combo
The magic isnt that op tbh i dont entirely agree
but when the chain lighting does procs🤤
As i melee main, i changed 2 days for magic with my duo and the game was like 70% easier
Well yea because you're supposed to use a mix of both
this doesnt work
i wear the mage cap only and use fire & bubble while i regen stamina
Lightning axe is so good. Can actually stagger charred warriors now
"i only walk everywhere and now its easier when i sprint" yea after mistlands magic is basically required (2 hp 1 eitr or 2 eitr 1 h)
anyone try necro book in ashlands?
when blood mage i eat 2 etr and 1 helath, when elemental i eat 3 etr, and while im melee i get 2 hp and 1 stam
The Shield is basically a must for me
Nah, asksvin set and cloak do that
I won't lie at low hp you'll die without it
bucklers>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
The magic one
oh
Otherwise yes
ye the bubble is really op
But again if theres an Ashland Buckler i haven't gotten it yet
buy i never used and mixed build before tbh i will try that today
Same with an atgeir
Does anyone have any clever tricks for deconstructing battering rams?
I play solo anything else has felt like I'm shooting my own foot by trying to over specialize
there's not
Eytr power can be useful when playing on low stamina
take your berserkir axes and hit them
That or the queen
Sounds weird but magic can compensate madly for low stam
well, its good also your stamina regens while you send fireballs
yea but usually one spends more time fighting melee
Unless i have 300% magic regen
this sucks if you are in closed spaces though, nowhere to retreat
And rested bonus then i can use it a lot
Bubble spam fireball at your feet and pray to odin himself
I have 3 main builds when solo:
Tanky: Flametal armor, 2 Hp and 1 stam food, Nidhogg, Carapace Buckler, B-axes, Spinesnap, Brutal Slayer
Light: Asksvin set, keeping the weapons and food
mage: Embla set, 1 Hp 2 etr, all staves ingame
Aleluia\
i never had problems with my builds
I carry every weapon
i do not used any dagger in my entire gameplay xd
Theres an ashland dagger?
im pretending to use in my new very hard world
Mood
i was recently testing Spears
and isnt that bad, the range is horrifying but the damage is very consistent
- with jade or iolite at ash they can be very strong
Spears are only there for melee pierce
I only have bloodstone and made bloodstone weapons
Iolite is Thory style
Deadass i couldn't find jade or anything else
and Brutal Slayer is soooooo cool
Agreed i wanna use it more
in my tank build if i go 40 or 50 hp i just catch the slayer and kill everyone near me
2 shooting valkyries
Yeah still no jade. I really wanna try the nature staff
2 hp 1 magic use a shield and just pray i dont get jumped by 30 of them
never used 2h sword kek
Its awesome! Def my favorite staff (if Dundr could be considered as a staff)
Me too, untill slayer got added into the game. i complety ignored Krom and Skoll Hati
We found like 8 iolite and 1 bloodstone. Waiting for our 3rd to get back on so we can try another fort
Wish dundr used iolite
Also am i wrong or does the blood weapons do more damage on paper like if i cap at 230 hp or something around there and lose say 100 im getting an extra 20 damage the others only do like 10
But i guess the tradeoff is only when im hurt but thats like always with me
Rarely am i full hp because of blood magic
Is it just a flat 20 or is it 20%?
works with MISSING hp, if you got 230 at total and lost 200
you will get a strong buff 200 x 0.2%
Oh % yea that makes sense
isnt 20 % tho, is 0.2%
thats like 40%
Yes
less then half %
100hp missing would be +20% dmg
Each point of hp missing gives 0.2% extra dmg
actually is 2%
And if im spamming Shield then it's always stacking
but 2% of 550 damage is 11
It isn't
huh
2%?
100 missing hp = 20% extra damage
isnt 0.2%?
Thats not mathing but ok
You could get like 300 hp with the new foods and missing 250 would add 50% more damage. Sounds pretty insane but don't get hit
Shield
This
0,02 is 0.2%
Its just 0.2 not 0.02
eh this is very missunderstanding
0.2%
bc the ingame desc is "their hit effect is damage increased by 0.2% for every hp missin"
At which point, getting hit just becomes deadly.
That isn't a playstyle worth doing if you're completely alone. Summons and shield are a necessity
Summons draining your hp so you do more damage. Unfortunately need 2 eitr foods to do this tho
Would be a cool synergy tho
Which is why it should be based on missing hp percentage instead.
1% of hp missing gives X amount of dmg.
I'm sure they did it to encourage full hp diet but still...
i was actually trying to convert % to numbers
Only massive damage weapons worth it
Like Ripper and Slayer
if i use the pathen fucntion of the hoe outside my workbench radius, will the path prevent trees from growing on it?
Especially ripper which is ranged
why cannot i find vineberries
I mean i wanna try the slayer with a tankish bubble
ive found 8 so far but no seeds
They grow on rock structures i think
ik but i cant find any
Seeds sometimes drop when picking them. They grow mostly in those abandoned church temples
hmmm, i guess i just gotta go on an adventure
man i wish there was a rampify tool on the hoe
does Putrid Holes works like Troll Caves ? i mean theres not necesseraly a monster inside ? cause sometimes Morgens takes forever to spawn, i often have to run back and forth inside the cave to make it spawn ?! 🤔 and it sometimes doesnt
Alright YALL
i got a life changing question alright
Can i skip the iron age like with bronze? I got through bronze only making an axe and the forge, i assume it can also be done with iron in normal. I just made a pickaxe to mine silver
wolf armor will be my first serious heavy armor
Iron armor isn’t necessary. For the amount of iron it costs, it’s hardly worth it.
Thats what i frickin thought
Fully upgraded bronze will achieve the same affect
the iron needed is crazy
i died

you will need iron all throughout the game
Only "necessary" things from iron is mace, atgeir and iron nails
Spend your iron on a longboat and maybe 1 good iron weapon of your choice and upgrade it all the way.
There's also iron wood beams but that depends on what you build
will do fellas
just making sure but theres not just 1 castle in the ashlands, right?
has anyone done the math to know if power attacking trees is faster
Iron sledgehammer is pretty good too, I’d say the iron is well spent on that
I just build huts, i gave up on trying to build proper houses after 230 hours my houses stil look like they've been brought over from minecraft
But darn it i will build the prettiest hut there is.
iron wood is really good, some times i also build towers and inside build up the ground to make it look taller than it is
Arguably but still depends on getting draugr elite trophy in the first place
You can build nice houses if you do a little bit of foundation work. Get yourself a shape you like and start building it with beams
even square blocks can be made pretty
Stone alone gives a lot of height
But if u have the trophy, it’s worth it. That’s what I made yesterday and I cleared the swamp crypts with it without ever being touched
I haven't done the math but I've cut a lot of trees. I'd say normal attack is better for felling and special attack for hitting fallen logs / stumps
Ill mess around with creative at some point
It’s starts with a vision, then from there it’s a game of problem solving. Valheim building is very technical.
Is it? How long can i continue using the stagbreaker? the amount of stuff needed for the sledge is insane
Stag is fine but I’d say if you ever find yourself with spare materials, and a draugr elite trophy, go ahead and make one
Best iron weapon is the mace
Will keep it in mind
