oh
I'm already sailing there in a karve
(I was going to do it in a raft but no I wasn't)
swim there with stamina and health potions
Is that even possible?
ya
It sounds painfully slow
You can drink potions while swimming, and you don't lose stamina or health when just idling in the water so you can wait for the cooldown to run out
Well, that's certainly sounding slower than a raft
Likely so. Develop some good swim skill though!
Is swim skil even good at 100 skill?
you become a fish at 100
Not rly. I think it's -50% stamina use and that's it.
Which isn't terrible, but it doesn't really change swimming to be more useful
Is the default difficulty "Normal" or something? Or is it not? I've never encountered so many starred enemies on my first playthrough.
This discussion has not been sarcastic at all, I can confirm it.
Default difficulty is Normal
Am I lazy if I have the teleport all items modifier on?
Not really, I for one would love to turn that on sometimes but my buddy refuses.
I don't have that much time to play the game so "wasting" it on transporting metal by boat sometimes feels wasted time because we could just teleport it.
The amount of ore needed for fully upgraded gear is stupid
If the armor upgrade costs were cheaper I would do the grind the old way
I even found my first two-starred deer today... What is happening on my second playthrough 😭
Depending on the gear, like chitin that is only 80 for the abyssal razor and 30 for the harpoon, so you need 110 chitin which is like 3 maybe 4 leviathans but then we get to iron and damn!
I'm currently at silver tier but decided to use fenris armor because it lasts way longer than wolf armor
I'm still bronze age too, on my previous playthrough I got to the plains while only encountering very few starred enemies, never encountered any two-starred ones. That save was 300+ days old with 140+ hours sinked in I think.
My current save is not even 30 days old yet 😭
In my opinion it is one of the best armors but it takes so long to gather all the materials.
#screenshots message
I even found Haldor randomly while searching for chambers.
Found Haldor day 2 maybe 3, he is on an island next to out starting island we can easily get to by swimming over a tiny stream.
I got lucky on my current world finding Haldor on the first island I sailed to (and I sailed early) and then Hildr right next to him across a river
I remember a server that has Haldor base the edge of the world.
What are the best silver tier weapons if the frostner is best
lmao
Depends on the situation. But generally people really like Frostner yea, holds up well in later biomes. Pretty meh in Mountains though
I don't know, I used Iron Mace all the way to the Plains until I got Blackmetal.
In mountains the best weapon is likely gonna be a fang spear or flesh rippers
I like the spear cuz its cheap
Me too. Also great for the boss
I hate the spear combat in this game.
Silver sword is also high up there.
And draugr fang is nice
Can max level silver shield parry most of the things in plains
Black marble acquired
And which black metal weapon is the best
Atgeir or Sword, even though I'm a mace player, I don't like the split damage type from the Porccupine.
I dont like atgeir cuz the inability to wear a shield
Plus, I think it's good to level up your mace early on to level 50 until Swamp or even Plains but when I get to Plains, I'd start levelling up my sword skill because of Mistlands and Ashlands.
i wonder why the wind always is going the wrong way in valhiem
Its coded against players
I think the direction of the wind depends on the current time in the world? Like in the morning the wind would be going South and North at dusk.
What weapons for moder?
I'm not sure though, feel free to quote me.
Best bow you can get and fire or obsidian arrows plus any weapon that hasn't got frost or spirit damage.
So the spear works fine
but if you throw it you risk it getting lost 😉
Spear, Flesh rippers, and Draugr Fang will be the best damage (not considering whatever weapons you might have skill in)
Is this your first run through?
I have around level 20 in clubs, spears and swords, and 30 level bow
Yes
Have fun!
I've watched a lot of old videos about the game
Oh man I just got a pufferfish, I wonder if I can clear dungeons with this
So i know whats coming in plains
the skeeters
1.5x is a great middle ground for making the grind less but still have plenty of exploring for resources left
For some reason it feels like 2x rate
all of the items that you harvest like crops and items that you pick up will be x2 cause of rounding
is anyone who is playing on increased resource rate in the ashlands right now?
If so I just wanna ask how are you enjoying the grausten
1.5x feels great for some resources and overkill for others.
whoops got greedy and died to a seeker
how strong are wolves? I was exploring plains close to the mountains and deathsquito did almost nothing to me while one wolf did twice as much dmg(I was being hunted but Im sure at this moment only one wolf attacked me)
do you have the root harnesk?
Because that gives you resist pierce which cuts deathsquito damage in half but wolves do slash
however if it's a starred wolf yeah they hit like trucks kidna
no I actually forgot to take it so I was in wolf armor lvl 2
weird but oh well, now I have to run back and pray to not get killed the instant im in plains
can you get two regular wolves tamed and eventually breed a star wolf
No
no, one has to be star
Children inherit stars from parents at a 50% chance, a 2 star wolf and a no star wolf is 50% chance of no star pup 50% chance of 2 star pup
oh well, all i want is their pelts anyways
Fish fall through the floors of dungeons
Right
Oh no they don't it just went in a weird spot
Pufferfish stronk
getting spawn camped by the valkyrie morgen combo
I thought I hated gjalls the most of any mob, and then I met Valkyries. Which, to be fair, are mostly awful because of everything else that turns up while you fight them
All of their attacks have friendly fire, they're one of the best new weapons
Assuming you don't run out of stamina trying to dodge the cluster of enemies, yeah. Otherwise 💀
The only reason I do not like gjalls is that they're the sole reason gate keeping making large base in Mistlands, just not worth the risk... would have to have ballistas and maybe shields to block ranged attacks.
They're relatively easy to kill, but they can sneak around in mist even more easily...
first 5 hours in the ashlands and Im calling it quits there full stop.
Sadge
World modifiers exist. If it's not fun any more, tune it until it is?
I feel you. It is a brutal biome
But i think it is intended hahaha
at least with the mistlands the building peices were strong enough is to protect form enemies but these new build peices dont even last 30 seconds with the enemies
Wondering if this is a bug or a feature. The ||trollstav|| won't let you ||summon more than two at once||, which makes sense. However, if anyone else tries to use a ||trollstav|| and there are two ||trolls|| nearby that ||someone else has summoned||, then it doesn't work. Does this seem intentional or not? The ||dead raiser|| doesn't work this way. I can still ||summon my own skeletons even if another player has some nearby||
i just make outposts in mistlands. Base would be possible but it requires extra micro management
Marble goes through portals, you can build with it there 😉
I would ofc say the raids are unbearable. 20+ charred and a morgen. I had that happen to me before obtaining any flametal
So i have an idea i could just build a major house close but outside of ashlands for safety haha
I found an archipelago nearby that I'm planning to build out
Some people have had success taking over the fortresses since so much of them is indestructible
building small isn't something I do. All I do is drop portals and that's it, with exception of mistland farm
That's a good question. I wish I had an answer 😉 But it does seem to be intentional at some level.
I could use the crusher hammer from mistlands to reduce the population?
Like outside the gate
The Demolisher is quite useful in general. Other people have cheesed it by building up outside the walls, too, or casting a troll in the fortress.
Yeah i forgot its name
i make a stone tower with some support stuff around, gate protected. Usually place 2 balistae also
i prefer the clear areas of mistland and follow them, take each mist bubble at a time.
anyone got any experience with Scalacube and setting up a server`?
That'd probably get better discussion in #dedicated-server
Find a steep-sided valley and spawn proof it.
I got lucky fairly early on with a mist-free Valley with high cliffs on three sides. Was able to spawn proof and gjalls won't fly over the high cliffs
You feel like taking time before getting back into the biome? Like for me what im doing is starting fresh in a new world and try to get better prepared
I have a big open mist-free valley with a base built way up on top of a spire, and I love when Gjall come and visit me 😛
nothing wrong with being over prepared for it
I do feel like my combat skills are sorely under leveled going into ashlands, and the deaths there are making it worse. My ranged options are only around level 30.
Also dont you technically have to raid one already to get materials for the trollstav? I forgot the recipe
yup
Good news is that most mobs in the Ashlands resist pierce, which is most ranged damage 😛
Oh but you can at least take out the valk with it
bows and xbows are no longer the majority of ranged options tho
The ice staff is not ranged. It is close quarters only 😛
Sadly they are also only really vulnerable to spirit, which either means snuggling up close and personal or pelting them with arrows from spinesnap
And those thrice-damned Valkyries are obnoxious to hit in melee
Frost arrows from Spinesnap is a fair bit of unresisted damage, true
Mistwalker is substantially better
I think the Mistwalker is strictly better, but the silver sword isn't terrible
youre not supposed to build up from the sides?
I didn't find the Demolisher very good in Ashlands. The Himminafl and the Mistwalker work much better for me
"supposed" is a very loose term. The general concept is that you send things over the wall with the catapult or bash down the gates with the battering ram.
But building is viable 😛
oh, thats what theyre for
any brutal slayer buffs coming?
Nothing they’ve mentioned. I wouldn’t expect specifically the brutal slayer to get buffed, but I could imagine blood weapons in general getting a lil buff
Anyone have tips for windmill placement? Like do I need to make a really high platform or something
Just a bit away from any large structures/rocks/trees. I needs to catch wind to work.
You need open space and height. I put mine at the top of Mountains
The new weapons are SICK
Just open roof
I found some arches near a fort and justified launching myself from it into the fort all paratrooper like. Feather cape was good and bad cause fire DMG was a real hard hitter
I love the axes
I usually have a base at the coastline, so i put it up a little like 4 - 6m and have it not being blocked by the house... works nicely for me... putting it up a mountain is tedious if you do not live there 😄
The faster the wind the faster the milling and the highest winds are in blizzard weather ...in the mountains
But then i am pretty patient i can wait for it to mill... after a while i got so much flour that I do not know what to do with it anyways, so no matter if it takes 2 days to mill 😄
While that's true, the winds in the Plains are more consistently high speed I believe. You get better burst processing in the Mountains, but the Plains are more consistent.
made a battering ram in the end but died inside, i dont think i'm getting back my stuff any time soon
why is the jump from Normal to Hard enemy difficulty so big? 50% multiplier means that Normal is too easy and Hard is extremely punishing and there's no in between...
It should be that way and makes sense for it to be that way but I advocate for mts because I'm not ALWAYS milling, I do in batches. Others might differ
Okay cool I’ll build them there
It's over, Anakin, I've got the high ground. Wait, this is Valheim where I can't hit you if you're just 8 inches above or below me. Nevermind.
claims high ground when they can both jump like 30 feet in the air
Oh maybe I’ll do this? Is it really a huge deal?
Not at all. It's just where it's most convenient for you to access them. I like having them on my farm where I grow the barley, so I just place them away from any buildings or trees. If you want to portal the barley to the mountains it works perfectly fine as well.
hey guys i just started getting into ashlands and i noticed they're surrounded by like 500 feet of pillars in water. is that pretty normal for the approach or did my seed generate weird? it's an older playthrough but the land wasn't explored
The big spikes in the water around the Ashlands? Yeah, that's intended.
normal
oh weird there's ruins and stuff in the water too it looks really weird lol, alright
/*-
is the big green light shooting up to the sky coming from a fortress? (in the Ashlands)
/8+6
Yes
Yep
Anyone got tips on where to build a semi safe outpost for ashlands?
My servers current location is some cathedral(?) ruins we fortified. But that lasts as long as you don't get seen by a valkyrie.
Is it some variation of out by the water since that seems safest.
From what I heard campfires are great as they have a 20m radius around them where mobs can’t spawn and mobs also don’t target them
So having a bunch of campfires around your base in a big radius gives you a nice safe zone
do they have to burn, or can they have no fuel in em and still have that effect?
Pretty sure they don’t need to burn
alright
Nowhere is safe, lol.
I have had some success by finding rock spires literally a jump away from shore to quickly get a portal up, but I have found making it permanent requires raised ground at least 8 m high or Morgen will ruin your day.
Just do not, under any circumstances, kill lava blobs next to the raised earth
whats yall fav weapon for clearing crypts
Stagbreaker is great for swamp crypts, as is the iron sledgehammer
Bronze Mace if you are heading into swamp first time
i am full silver, doing em for more iron
Sunken Crypts? Stagbreaker/Sledge is super powerful because it can hit through walls and such, but maces and shield is super useful.
Frostner.
At full silver, Frostner would be my choice
alrighty
you can take a silver loadout with frostner and toy with bonemass for fun 😉
just wanna run through em
Frostner, or the iron sledge/stagbreaker. Honestly, the root harnesk is a good safety as well since it resists piercing damage from the annoying archers.
Basically the Valheim weapon matrix is thus:
If you have not yet refined eitr in your biome progression: use frostner.
If you have refined eitr: you can hang frostner on the wall and use other options.
Frostner is the hammer for which essentially everything pre-Mistlands is a nail. And even a number of Mistlands enemies
fuck why doesnt it let me load in my previous save ive had before the update dropped
wrth upgrading?
makes my game crash
All the way to max
Wait for it. It takes a long time for the game update the old info, and it looks like it's not responding, but it's still working. Leave it for up to 5-10 minutes without touching the mouse or keyboard or anything after starting loading an existing world
i get it now, why there are complaints about too many enemies
free xp
if you don't die
Have you tried the ruins in the waters? I had a ruin spawn in the water near shore that seemed good. But problem is that it sucks to build in there since you can't really slap floors down.
I was wondering if that actually might be better since only threat would be vultures and rouge bone serpent
hahah yeah. like... so many... i thought i was just unlucky
in mistlands i feel like you sometime have to search for enemies
well you do have to, mist doesn't make it too easy to find stuff to kill
Where do the askvinds spawn?
get out of my ashlands spawn, building gets blown up by magma blob and i get overrun by 20 skeletons
I did
Morgen will travel underwater
hahahahhahaha
Don’t kite the morgen to your base 😂
Unless you have a charred fort base
Then lure everything to it 🤣
No kiting involved, lol. Have you not experienced the "joy" of a random Morgen spawning outside your walls?
I have. But my walls are spawn proofed so not often 🤣
I rather fight the morgen over the askvin. Morgen is easy to parry but those damm lizard dogs
morgen valyrie attack while i was trying to tame an asksvin
Morgen travel alone
Askvin travel in packs 😭
I was still in setup phase and portalled back to my ashlands outpost one morning after a rest to find a Morgen climbing up the front of my spire to come visit my outpost.
It then destroyed half the spire.
It was after that that I ringed the entire area with a raised earth wall and spawn proofed it
Talk about unwelcome door to door salespeople
Fr. Fighting 3 askvin. One is one star and surrounded by lava. Yeah just get out of there. You ain't killing them
So I've got an ashlands question ||Can you grow fiddle heads or do you just have to find them?||
Find them.
Dverger bases are great for this
I havent even found an askvin
Only Ashland’s thing you can grow is the berries….
WHICH JUST MADE ME REALISE! 😡
People have been asking the dev’s for plantable berries since launch 🤣🤣🤣
Ashlands so far has taught me two things new about Valheim
-
The high ground is not necessarily safer anymore.
-
Running the f*** away is a very important strategy
aww, good to know though
After nearly 900 hours in this game I thought I had a good grasp on the gameplay loop but the Ashlands seems explicitly designed to humble us veterans
Head inland towards the lava. Just watch out, they push you and they push far. The askvin ain't dangerous, it's the lava they push you into.
sweet lava juice to boil in
I started on a new map and haven't even gotten past Eikthyr yet. I found out none of my friends really play anymore so taking my time to finish a single player game before I go into it. But I'll keep in mind running away is a good strategy 😆
Honestly my advice for anyone just arriving in ashlands is to prioritize finding putrid holes and getting at least 2 molten cores.
Because once you can build a stone portal in your home base, you can one-way teleport metals from it to any other portal (but not in reverse).
Outposts become so much easier
So another question, I just took my first castle, is there a good way to seal up the door? I wanna take it as my new base
Wait they can connect to regular portals?
YES
Never thought to try
Which I discovered entirely by accident
And the metal teleporting property is determined by the entry portal, not exit
definitly good to know
No more trekking across the world to realize you forgot to bring 2 iron for a stonecutter
Eh my no portal run broke that out of me lol
I tend to be an explorer/builder more than focusing on boss progression so a no portal run sounds like pure torture.
Like, I have mined down half a mountain range for stone at this point
i got a mountain bald as well, stone:gone
I died once - tried taking on a charred fortress without clearing all the mobs out first 🤣
The walk back was pretty humbling 😭
shame
i`d like to be able to draw, like in paint. Simple
does someone already encounter a 2-star asksvin ? i need to tame one 🙂 saw a lot of 1-star but no 2-star even at night
At this point I just cheat stone in, same with black marble
I turn all that off when progressing but if I'm just building just to build
- 1* charred warrior
- 1* charred warrior
- Morgen
- Morgen and charred warrior
- Morgen
- Valkyrie
I met a 4-star one and let me tell you, that thing could run!
The no portal run was actually rather nice though, alot more laid back especially since it was no map too
4-star monsters doesnt exists outside of mods 🙂
Ai ai ai ai ai! 🤣
My nod to masochism is this is a pure world/playthrough. No devcommands, fully vanilla original world settings.
and? That thing could run all the same
The problem with immersive is finding the bosses. They need to make a better system
As you can see from the death count, the skill points have taken a bit of a beating.
Maybe show a ping to the boss from the position you've activated the rune
i'm wondering if 2-stars asksvin exists to tame it, i dont care of mods creating 10-stars monsters 🙂 i want to legit tame one
My levels! My PRECIOUS levels!!! 😭😭😭
The boss runes in frost caves suck the most in immersive
RIP 400 hours of skill grinding 😅
If you’re brave enough to be out at night
Normally I haven't cared much but the hit to combat effectiveness of bows in particular is quite infuriating
I ussually like to turn the raid rate and difficulty up
yeah ... my main world is 1880+ days and my main char has a lot of skill up to 100 🙂 ashlands ruined it 🤣
My problem is the jump height and run speed boost
Only running is going up, the rest down
Feather cape gives you a jump boost at least...
I have started wearing Fenris armor again, with feather cape and a single eitr food so I can bubble
And then I just run
Skol
ok i guess im just unlucky, even at night, i only saw 1-star asksvin, no 2-star for now 😦
I haven’t seen one either
They seem quite rare.
is it a fast mount, btw?
That depends entirely upon your riding skills
Only thing I have heard is you can ride it on the lava
But if you’ve levelled them up decently they are SUPER quick! 🤩
It’s like riding on a slightly slower wolf
i want one so badly, 2-stars asksvin are blue !!! they looks so cool 🙂
skill which for vast majority of players is almost certainly 0 or close to it
I will find one, tame it, then name it “Bubbles” 🤩🥰🥳
Mine is probably zero now. I was up to 10 before
You’ve seen how fast those things are when they are galloping after you no? 😂😅
i looked at the valheim wiki to be sure they exists, and it seems that yes, but havent found one ... 😦 i'll continue my hunt
Now imagine RIDING it! 🤩
Good luck!
what? running away? No way I'd do that no... how do you think I earn level 80 running, by running away? No sir!
frens i am distressed: the music changed 😬 ☠️ now it instantly pops from one tune to the next, constantly restarting if you move in and out of comfort areas or those with themes... starting over and over at the beginning instead of fading out and now it almost constantly plays unless/until you complete a song then there's a gap but wow.... can i get the old way back??
I haven’t noticed that actually 👀
That sounds horrible!
No pun intended 🙈
i noticed instantly, but was hoping it would get better 😦
what is the best gear/get up for going into ashlands? i feel like i might do it wrong haha
level 3 mistland gear. it should be doable with your preferred weapon, but some are going to be much harder than others...
is it just me or does the swamp get way more calm and friendly once you make a road through it? it's almost like a 80 or 90% reduction in hostile enemy spawning
So what we got after ashlands
Deep North?
Good to know
Ngl, today is the first day I heard about deep north. Only other biome I knew was supposed to get an update was the ocean
i have a whole system of roads & outposts in a large swamp. Its very safe
imo, it's more of a "I've been in this location for a little while" rather than the road itself
I was sailing far far away and suddenly got the prompt for Deep North.
i hope the ocean gets updated before the deep north
to me it seems like swamp starts with a lot of enemies, but repopulates rather slowly
it just feels like you are constantly swarmed by enemies in the swamp if you are trying to traverse it normally
Idk cuz I repaired one of those draugr villages at the swamp before and still was constantly under attack
but if you have a road then the enemies suddently seem to be very absent
jumping in the water makes lots of noise
I docked near plains just to be greeted by five fullings, I sometimes feel that this game gives me more stress than relax
you relax in the base, stress outside
May have to try to find it myself. It’s kinda cool how they’ll have an early version of biomes so you know it’s there
Relaxing in the base:
You invited?
I carry 150 stone and a workbench wherever I go because at least that usually gives me a little space from the hordes of awful
Balistae: challenge accepted!
ashland kinda gives the dying light or one of those zombie game vibes, enemies everywhere and very little space for relaxing
onje gets to relax a lot in Ashland when dead, which is a frequent event
Honestly I am dying less in fenris because I know to just RUN
Fenris + Ask Cape is just other game
This. Ashlands enemies hit hard but they're much easier to just dodge
Also the Mistwalker wielded by a player in fenris armor with a bubble shield looks badass
a tank with a machine gun would be great in ashlands
sailing during the day = takes forever - sailing at night = is it already day again???
Hear me out: level 2 cart upgrade includes a ballista
One better, mounting method and a "follow" command for any rideable mounts that have their saddle.
Hooks up cart to lox and it follows you home.
*can still attack but cart is immune to damage from mount.
with a armored Lox pulling i hope
Ashlands and relaxing do not go together in the same sentence 😂
There are 4 principle crafting types : woodworking, smithing, cooking and masonry
also kind of sewing for robe type armor and cosmetics
nope, masonry
oh yea that too
for the wheel
Artisan?
Artisan.
Includes making windmills, sewing machines etc
So I guess the towers in the middle of castles don't obey gravity lol
Would it be artisanry?
Yes, though it's not commonly used I guess.
Yeah Wikipedia says it’s a word by my phone doesn’t
It is a word.
So is bird...🐦
So is... word!
Quick question. Do ALL enemies have a weakness to a certain damage type? (Pierce, blunt, slash)
No
My mine does to a different word
Oh hey Carnafex :D
I was gonna say fance seeing you here, also yes
Appropriately, "Surfin' Bird", by The Trashmen, is a definite display of artisanry.
Lol what timing we both happen to comment
Isn't that what we started playing together?
Is it? not sure tbh XD
I'd love to. Been looking for a partner to roam the new lands with
I would argue that if enemy has no weaknesses, but takes normal damage to some sources while strong against other sources... then there's no longer a neutral damage source but just strength and weakness.
That's a good point
I mean you can kill anything with enough determination XD
it's supposed to be the middle ground, but to me it looks like weaknesses are rarer and rarer in later biomes, making it somewhat pointless
Not when there are 20 of them
There is a explicit difference between weakness and resistance.
Saying a seeker is weak to fire would be wrong
Saying that fire is more effective against it is better
Ashlands?
Otherwise people would just believe seekers are weak to fire
I didn't get more than 20 steps away from my little FOB when I was completely surrounded lol
if there's no weakness then the normal is the weakness
meda most effective damage available
Yeah the spawns are wild in the ashlands
whatever is the most effective is the weakness
No, by definition, that's wrong
that's not even the definition... whatever works the best is the weakness
No lol that is not correct
It is. Dev saying that "this is not a weakness" while it is, doesn't make it not a weakness
You can say they're more vulnerable to the damage.
But there is a clear definition in this game when it comes to an enemy being weak to a certain damage type
Is there a builds channel?
What he said
Seekers don't take increased damage from fire.
They take full damage from it
compared to how strong they are against most other damage types, that becomes a weakness
You can keep saying it, that doesn't make it true
something to exploit, that is point of having a weakness
Not resistant does not = weakness
so if the game says a door is open, but it's clearly closed, you can't go through it... but the game says it's open. Is it open? The game isn't objectively correct if it does something illogical
He’s right tho in a sense
The form of damage that deals the most damage can be considered the enemies weakness
If an enemy was resistant to all forms of damage but took 1x to spirit
Then spirit could be considered the enemies weakness
The game just has labels for how much damage you do to them, and straying from the labels can cause confusion
the system itself is already a mess...
Weakness in game code is different from gameplay weakness
If someone says seekers are weak to fire I expect fire to do 3x the damage that slash would do to them
seekers only are resistant to Common types of Damage bc devs dont want any creatures to get 500+ hp
but being afraid to add official weaknesses is already itself a problem with the scaling system, they made them too high and too low
they got 200hp actually, but with pure Blunt/Pierce/Slash Damage they have pratically 400hp bc you only do hald Damage with this sources
and we only got frostner, some arrows, and Draugr Fang with elemental Damage untill mist gear
does every world have only 1 place that each boss can be spawned?
think it would be far better to have lower penalty for strengths and smaller bonus for weaknseses, and then go further for some rare instances. Then they could pretty safely use the full range of weak/strong damage types
No, we got many Boss spawns Over the world
The vegvisir will show the nearest boss
but If you found a vegvisir in other location it can probably show other Boss spawn location
If the game says it's open then it's to be expected that you would go through it...
How could it consider the door to be opened even if it looks closed visually and you can't go through it?
And even still, in that case it's a glitch, and we're talking about the correct way things work
you're dismissing it as a glitch so you don't have to adress it
My point is that there is a clear definition in the game about a mob being weak to something or not.
A seeker being neutral to fire makes fire being more effective against it, doesn't mean is correct to say is WEAK to it because that's not true. You just have better chances at killing it with fire
if it makes no difference if it's called a strenght, weakness or normal damage type because one of the extremes is being not used, what the hell is even the point?
or in other words, weak to fire... an effective damage type for killing it compared to other options. Game can define whatever it wants however it wants but it doesn't become the reality
ohh god - i have played this game for so long and first now i realise i can just hold E to auto stack items from inventory to storage 😫
Weakness is a game code and it is a gameplay fact
The "hold E" is a newer feature
and words have meaning outside of this specific game..
anyone have a list of eberything i need for max comfort
You are both correct, but english got poor variety of words
I believe the wiki does.
ty
exactly!
i am aware of that, but the fact that i am well into the iron age before realizing (since the ashland update) i should be faster to spot changes after 1,4k hours in this game
Wait you can hold E???
Either way, all I'm saying is that they should reduce how much more damage the extremes of different damage types do. There is a problem if it exists but it's not utilized properly. The fact just is, that the damage bonus is too high and that is why so many bosses have no weakness and later biome enemies have no weaknsesses either
yea, it will open the chest you are looking at it, stack any matching items from inventory into it and then close the inventory again
There is also a "stack like items" button on the chest
I've been using it constantly since it was introduced. So nice to just dump all my inventory into chests without having to click
i used the "stack like items" button until now 😅
Especially true with large quantity stacks that are broken. IE: 15 stacks of wood in various quantities.
The easiest Boss fights are the one who got a weakness (Bonemass and Elder)
what is bonemass weakness
Blunt
my bonemass summoning place is right next to a camp in the plains that has a ton of enemies
Man berserker axe are so OP. I love it
If only enemies would attack bosses. Stick fuling would wreck boneymass
Frostner and Iron mace just Destroy bonemass
I think bonemass is my least favorite boss
bonemass is easier than elder
I'm afraid to pick up those axes because I suspect we will not see another set of dual axes like we might not see another set of dual "knives" either
moder and elder are like on par
Moder is harder than Elder imo. She has pretty good damage
Moder is my favorite fight
Why Enemies are "immune" to spirit? I think Spirit its a type of Damage which mainly affect Undead enemies. (Volture case is weird)
while that's true, she can be cheesed too easily
and now here's the crazy thing... they're not even "weak" to it, but many people believe they are since almost nobody takes spirit damage
once she lands, you can just bash and bash and barely receive any damage
Is it normal that mining for ||Flametal|| is so damn painful
tbh the whole game can be cheesed too easily. That's why when I play I ban certain weapons and strats
I wouldn't say that about the whole game, at least in Mistlands, "cheesing" means just playing carefully and being mindful of the terrain
go raid some fortress and you should be fine with resources
I think we only need to cheese in the Queen and in infested mines
the other part of the game can be done fine without cheesing
nah you can totally cheese mistlands. Just coming in with a bunch of bowskill and frost arrows to stop seekers from ever getting near you, using atgeir secondary to never let seekers get near you, hitting enemies through walls in crypts with a sledgehammer, blocking off enemy pathfinding by building stuff in crypts, or just sitting at crypt entrance and shooting enemies that can't get up to you or soldiers on the other side of doors. There's always cheese potential everywhere imo
I didn't cheese queen but then again killing her took me like literally 3 hours or something.. 90% time running around fighting seekers or trying to get a hit in after knockback from blocking lol
tbh I think magic is too good and melee too bad for Queen and Fader. Feels bad
I feel like that's just having a strategy mostly
like, the lack of strategy is what makes the biome difficult
Isnt Fader that only got 1 ranged attack?
do enemies despawn when i teleport a long way away
I'd say he has 4 ranged attacks
Arguably 5
They stop to hit you and your structures, but doesnt despawn
what about my portal, do they destroy it?
they stop hitting your structures 🙂
they stop to hit you and your structures 🔥
you still will need to worry about what to do when come back
im actually worried i wont go back because my portal will be broken
If the swirls still appear you can head back
but you may get killed as soon as you teleport through I’ve had that happen to me
What should I do? I have killed the boss and everything.
thats the point in making a safe place to your portal
The last boss?
Yes, many times
I can totally see that.
The only way melee competes is with Ashlands enchanted weapons
Upgrade all your Ash gear, make ALL enchanted variants, build cool structures, make food, tame 2 stars
Specifically the Jade weapons that immobilise bosses
restart in hard or immersive mode
Ring of fire, fire breath, meteors, lava spikes, spawning charred
Lightning feels so good on the weapons. Wish I could have a lightning knife.
Dual axes are actually the new knives
i wish i could have a Lightning staff
Also why does the magic lightning weapon use blood stone instead of iolite??
Leap attack, fast attack speed
Yeah I've been using the axes. They're awesome
No idea - makes no sense to any of us
what is the most bizzare about magic in this update is that the lightning magic weapon doesn't really function like magic at all... just glorified shotgun with reloading...
You need bloodstone with the fire sword, trollstav, gemstation, blood enchanted weapons (sword, big sword, spear, dual axes, bow/crossbow) AND need it for lightning stick???
I havnt played the mistlands update or Ashland, currently moving through my second playthrough to play both updates but have they introduced a good way to discard of items thrown from your inventory? My friends and I typically just end up digging a massive hole with an outhouse around it to keep stuff we don't want off the ground
a
Obliterator, thunder stone from haldor
I was looking forward to lightning magic the most but... oh god
It converts unwanted items into coal which is always useful
Channel your inner Grian 😂
OBLITERATE!!! 🌩
Thats perfect thanks 😂
besides the obliterator, items just despawn outside of player bases and deep underwater
But obliterator is so much better
exactly
A lightning staff mightve been difficult to implement. I'd like one that just calls down a bolt on something and never misses
Himminafl is the closest thing to that
lightning staff
pro: good when it rains
con: non-functional inside dungeons
lol
Thor's polearm
Well doing the typical chain lightning ain’t gonna work so good in Valheim I think
Technically the broomstick is just harnessing eikthyr’s heavy attack
Would have loved to harness the lightning bubble instead 🤩🤩🤩
all elemental types we get ingame rn
Just unlocked rotten meat lmao
How do i get it?
Putrid hole
try to unlock Asksvin Skeleton
got that already
I never got any Asksvin Skeleton part
Iron mace for bonemass and the rest of the biome
An ice-sickle
Iron mace
If you already got make Iron sword
iron battle axe isnt particularly good
and honestly the next battleaxe wont set you back much and is a bit more worth it
Battle axes are uhh..
we'll get one next update guys 🙏
i Hope we dont
mace is best, but also make what you want
1- Iron mace
2- Iron sword
I think Iron Mace
ty both
no need
I Hope we get all weapons types except by one battle axe
someones not a fan
since Berserkir Axes exist now
I mean, heavy Hammers Works in Valheim, but War axes doesnt work very well
they could be the most badass weapons ingame
why i think iron gate needs to do a second pass on each biome
new stuff is more content rich but feels less connected than the originals
imo
I mean Ashland’s is meant to be seperate from the rest of the world
fair
absolutely
Hussah... in my streaming world i killed Elder today ... 😄 took 3 min to roast him, then axe him, then shoot him dead 😄 Happy!!! 😄
My friend just found an op way to level up
If one of you has pvp on and the other has it off and the pvp guy attacks the other they level up their skill
Interesting.. I may try that out
what do i use to mine the glowing white rocks on the mountain
Glowing white rocks???
Glowing rocks? Those sound like a part of the drake nests. They aren't minable
yeah theyre illuminated
ah okay yeah i killed a few of those
what am i supposed to be doing with the stagbreaker again?
If you're looking for silver I think they patched that out. Used to be you slam it on the ground and if you see "too hard" it means there's silver underneath
ah damn
I've been lucky enough to just see parts of silver poking out of the sides of cliffs on a few mountains
Is it normal that the Drakkar just randomly catches fire and burns down within seconds?
I thought it was fireproof
i did aswell but i just saw mine burn down
Was a Gjarll attacking it?
im in the Ashlands
(jumped onto one of those Graustein Towers to explore it and when i turned around it looked like an embers with damage numbers popping up rapidly)
tbh, if you think about this, we are the actual baddies in valheim
you are the baddie in most survival/exploration games
nah odin is with me
Most enemies attack me first. I'm just defending myself
"its coming right for us!"
shoot my 56th deer
there was (or is it just happened again) some kind of flame in the air i dont know where it came from tho
do flametal ore veins respawn in the same spot like leviathans?
eikthyr is a part of nature that dont want to be civilized, that's not a thing worth killing for, he just wants to roam free
we know that greydwarves used to be friendly but then turned on humans when deforestations happened and elder is basically the oldest of the greydwarves
bonemass is basically a slime made out of bodies of people who were prideful enough to battle the gods, , but not all people were into battling them and yet odin swatted their cities like flies with no remorse
to summon moder you need to use the eggs, and when she comes to protect them, you kill her and she cries because she failed to protect her children
fulings while prideful and fearful used to have armies that matched if not one upped that of man and odin just sent them to valheim
queen doesnt really count, she is a bug so its mostly primal instincts
not sure about last boss, haven encountered him yet
Leviathans don't respawn IIRC. Neither does flametal
but basically, you kill bosses that just weren't willing to obey odin, and odin calls them prideful for not being on his side
odin told me to kill them
Also aren't greydwarves sinful vikings reincarnated or something, like murderes/thieves etc
If God told you to jump off a bridge wwjd?
Fallen valkeries have a 3 burst of small fireballs...otherwise I don't know anything that throws fire other than surtlings. I do know the ashrain (storms) tend to light anything wood on fire, but I didn't think it effects the boat.
could be a superstition
wwjd? idk hes the one telling me to jump
Yeah there are lore stones about them. They were vile beings
like fearmongering
When the soul of a murderer or a great sinner rots under the ground, it makes a hollow cyst which draws rock and wood and moss to it. It gathers up the peat into flesh, braids reeds into bone and takes rags for skin. It should not walk but when the night comes it walks. Should you who read this see one with a sword to your hand, lance it and let it out. Or put it to the torch, for it fears the flame."
So it's safe to assume the elder is also objectively evil and the morals of killing the elder are more obvious to me...
and this is false, how do greydwarves really spawn tell me
can i see what changed from last ptb to main?
they spawn in the greydwarf nests
leviathans definitely respawn, what are you even talking about
something doesnt add up
i was out on the ocean (inbetween the spikes) so i dont think there was a valkyrie anywhre nearby
Pretty sure they don't
Only other thing I can think of is the lava blob...
They don’t
Did they used to in the past?
They don't respawn: https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Leviathan?so=search
so is there a limited amount of flametal that can be got?
The fiery meteors will turn anything made from wood into coal
Nope I thought so too but they just always sink permanently iirc
Yes it's limited. But I mean, so is silver, copper, etc
From the vein, yes. There are aparently other sources though.
You can get some from the fortresses too
probably that then
Is the staff of fracturing good?
Everywhere but the ashlands yes
It's ok. Does blunt damage which is kinda neat
Okay thanks
hi fellas, question... is there any chance to stop high lvl mobs (from mistlands or ashlands) to travel world? had some tryhard players and some casual players on server and while server setting for raid depend on PLAYER progress is awesome, that there still roaming enemies that kills casual friends easily. What should i do?
@shy marlin like really, do you believe vampires exist only because it was written somewhere?
Tell them to stay inside at night?
Unfortunately, once a certain biome boss is defeated, enemies from that biome will spawn at night
these stones are written by humans sent to valheim, yknow, the same people with their memory being foggy
When lower level players hop on our server I just tell them to stay inside at night, and if they don't listen, it's their own fault if they get one-shotted by a seeker in the Meadows
bro what
ngl that's the wildest ping i've recieved in a long time 💀
Do you really believe that the lord of the rings happened because it was written somewhere? No of course not it's a book based on fiction
Wild
Do you really believe vikings exist because it was written in a book?
Do portals set on fire with fire spread on?
Yep. Don't use firespread Imo. Makes having a cooking area hell
I mean if you wanna torture yourself sure, but anything wooden, and even hide carpets will burn
Eh it’s only until hearths that the fire spreads from regular campfire
And the ability to make 50 coal out of a stack of wood is a god send
all you need is a torch
Remind me how greydwarf nest look like
Purpley mist emanating from a pile of twigs in the Black Forest
it spawns variants of gray dwarves
"When the soul of a murderer or a great sinner rots under the ground, it makes a hollow cyst which draws ROCKS AND WOOD AND MOSS TO IT..."
Is something wrong with valheim map?
30% more health per player
doubt one body can spawn infinite amount of greydwarves tho
my map seems different than what valheim map site shows
Its case sensitive I think
¨like large changes?
Got any L's, 1s or I on the seed? They can look pretty similar
maybe double and triple check the seed spelling? i have seen quite often lowercase "L" mistaken for upper case "i", or i think it should be possible to generate the map with world files somehow, i didnt use it myself so dont know much about that method
guys will dvergr be hostile to me if i break stone below their base so it breaks itself?
is it just me, or eggs that are 'hidden' under the hay, meaning i cant hover my mouse over it and see the (warm), not hatching? I dont want to remove my hay floor of my coop, but if it is hindering my egg production i have to remove it
you can try 😄
DxpBUSrY4y
I’ve never even thought to try that lol
please tell, i want to know
eh, no L's
I think they will get mad if you destroy their base
The map site allows for world file upload and if you didn't make a new world after Ashland's it's basically required to see the right POI
i am not sure, thats why i said you can try 😄
well, technically i dont break their base, it breaks cuz no foundation
but do they get hostile if i break stone tho
well they will agro if you attack anything protected by their ward, not sure if rocks and stuff count too
darn
Wait
They don’t actually, the first dvergr harbor me and my friend went to was blocked in by rock formation that we had to mine through, they didn’t aggro until we hit the structure
if you want, you can just ram cart into the ward untill it breaks and then destroy everything, they will not agrro
Possible your old save is from legacy version? Mistlands brought significant changes to the terra. Been a long while since you loaded this world?
i loaded that world after mistlands update
Aparently refined eitr also works to damage the ward w/o agro...haven't tried myself but have seen a couple do it on YT.
Does upgrading trollstav do anything?
oh yes, it should, but cart is kinda more reliable way i feel 🙂
are you guys sure breaking stone wont trigger the ward and in domino effect the dvergr inside? (the problem mostly is one 2star dvergr rogue and one 2 stare dvergr mage alongside a couple of normal ones)
Alternatively you could kill them
This makes me want to load carts into a catapult and try that.
I see. Tried toggling versions on the map site?
brother i am trash lmao
just go break the ward using cart or eitr and you will be safe 🙂
i dont have any wands yet, i need materials
Make walls and use a bow idk
You can kill a lot of things by building
what do you need wands for?
and the wall is to steep for cart method, its nearly 90 degree angle
I think you're right on some of those. Eikythr just wants to be free in the Meadows, yeah. I heard somewhere that the elder was a part of the world tree that turned evil, but in the runestones it says that it went against the gods (dunno if that is exactly evil). You actually do a favor to Bonemass by killing him so 🤷♂️, Moder is pretty sad. Similar to the elder, I think Yagluth and the fulings just went against the gods, not sure if they warranted killing. For the final boss ||He's the one who turned ashlands into.. ashlands, basically just charred up the entire biome after seeing that his people turned on him and burned down his palace along with his adopted child||
and queen is just primal instinct really
how bout queen? 😄
Why is moder sad
you kill her children and she cries because she couldnt protect them
But is she evil
He is a fallen king
The tears kinda give it away
not really ehhhh
The Flan King 🍮
"A father noble and proud, he soured through skies of fire. Then madness lowered its shroud, and warped his heart's desire."
Itsssssss nutty
shes just not in for odins cause and odin takes great offense if someone doesnt support him
How you doin Germ
I’m really hot n sweaty in a truck, hby?
what is odin's cause?
To be the very best no matter what the cost
Valheim lore seems to be pretty good
Needs more romance
Moder is a sencient creature? Or was a human sometime
It's my favorite boss 😅
Doing good tyvm. You beat Ashland's on masochist difficulty? 😉
We’ve got a new run on hard, I lost the last server data whoops
We’re only to swamp so far
The real hard mode is using pickaxes as your main weapon
She is literally The Queen, mother of all things we fight in mistlands
he sent you to valheim because he couldnt beat up some chumps so he sents a literal fuckin mortal to deal with them
Can you get to Ashlands with a longship?
Oh man rip. Sorry to hear that. Glad you ain't backing down
I've heard you can but... It's risky
Like by cheesing somehow
I’ve heard you can get there with lots and lots and lots of wood
wont last long
Ye ik about that, its in game introduction, but i really wanna know about other creatures
You can jump between some of the rocks with a feather cape but if you die in the water your items could be very hard to retrieve
I tried tagging you for the new run if you want to get in on it. We took all of the masochist settings off being there just isn’t time for them
literally most of valheim enemies are things that are deemed prideful because they dont obey odin
Like Greydwarfs are reincarnated assasins (doomed to live in this miserable body)
Doesn’t matter what they’re deemed if they attack ME on sight
What if Odin is the final boss?
It’s all self defense in my eyes
well, bosses dont attack you on sight
Yes they do?
Im always down to run with ya. Snail and others in the new server too?
you summon them by beating their kind, they have to intervene
I guess they’re not available till you knock on the door though
Kinda lame
Is bringing you to life worth taking my life over?
I hope he isn’t. Hugin probably wouldn’t be happy with me killing him
Also, he sent us here and we did what he wanted, why would he kill us?
What is the summoning? are we giving them power so they can maintain a corporeal form? Are we reincarnating them?
It'd be a forced plot twist that would add nothing of value anyway
Just snail and some new people from an entomologist server I’m in
ngl i hope for 2 final bosses, odin and one other chump, odin if we get all forsaken but then tell them at the power stones we dont work for odin and promise them you will take him down (they are still sentient even as trophies, hanging them on the wall proves that)
"You killed the forsaken, congrats warriors. WHOOPS turns out I am the last enemy you will face cringy evil laugh"
Wow what a twist, good thing valheim is such a story-rich game where this would certainly be cool to see...
A smaller boss that teleorts around and summons lightning would be a good fight tho
Very cool. I'll pm ya in a bit. I've been grinding on 76 for a few months
is deepnorth going to be lightning related because another snow related biome is gonna be boring
he wouldnt be like that, more like he realized he made a warrior capable of taking down gods and he banishes you to valheim as the final forsaken
Poseidon lol
wrong mitology
Or Odin and the player could be friends and drink as much tasty mead as they want in valhalla
That's slightly better...
But imagine going through all that shit with the promise of going to Valhalla just for "lol no you won't ever reach it and literally everything you did was for exactly nothing"
They should just stick to original plans
"At this place I killed seven of the draugr and ended their long years or fighting and misery. Now who will end mine?" Bro this is so cool
i mean, odin prioritizes his survival above all else, thats why there are forsaken in the first place
We don't know yet. Haven't seen much lightning yet so would be a cool change
thats why he has 2 spy crows
I think Odin think fighting only one mortal is easier than fighting 7 bosses
The forsaken are Jotun
They're the expected enemies of the gods.
Or we could have like a Cuphead plot XD
then why can a mortal beat them
They can only beat them but they alone cannot kill them
They're weakened.
It's explicitly stated, they couldn't be killed, which is why they're banished
I don't think the story of Mistlands has been explicitly stated, but I think the Dvergrs were sent into Valheim long after the Jotuns died and their flesh and skin evaporated into becoming the thick magical mist, where the Dvergrs harvested sap and refined eitr. Then The Queen (and a few seekers?) were sent by Odin, and they bred into a lot and are trying to take over the Mistlands which is why some of the Dvergr encampments are infested. They tried to kill her but couldn't, so they just sealed her away. I don't mind killing her ig 😂
And you don't even kill them, they still speak to you if the trophies are mounted, that states that they still live even after defeating them
Imagine the requirement to kill the final Boss is getting ALL the other Boss Heads in the Forsaken altars
So there would be two bosses
Wouldn't be surprised if it's the case
Heh... mount the last boss trophy and the endgame boss pops up and destroys that Meadows base you've been using as your main base through the whole playthrough
Yeah that's my only concern 😅 I've built my main base right around the altar
plains base supreme
That sounds kinda hilarious tbh
but then plains get literally swarmed by squitos...
I believe the original plan was to have 9 bosses. I think it'd be pretty cool to have a "final" boss after the one in deep north.
But they could just make the main spawn as the final boss altar so the boss would be in meadows.
Meadows being the first and the "last" biome sounds good in theory
apparently theres a miniboss in the ashlands?
What if mounting the final trophy makes you able to enter the center of the altar and face the final boss in a dungeon like queen?
Yes
shhh its a secret
Yea yagluth mentions hes been defeated many times before
Dyrnwyn Quest is a very good concept ngl
without too much spoil, can i get a hint on how to find it? i think its through the morgen holes right?
Yes find the locator stone in the putrid holes.
Putrid holes may have a vegvisir that points you to a "mysterious location"
This sounds fitting as well
ooooh ohhh oooooh
intriguing enough
You'll be fighting ironman, boom! spoiled!
nobody expects the secret hidden boss!
I do
||more like ghost rider lol||
bruh chill, they don't want to be spoiled
its marked as spoiler
||Nobody expects the spoiler in spoiler tags!||
im testing him
should expect
You mean she hulk
not clicking on that, nope
god damn it... monthy python. Nobody expects the spanish inquistion. Tried to make it more obvious even
Yes yes click on that 😈
Final boss is the 1572 Spanish army
Now bring out... the comfy chair!
nope! not falling for it even tho it is very tempting to click on things!
its so tempting tho...
Dew it
Did you know that a black forest runestone has a little teaser of Moder.
fun fact: did you know that the damage type enemies are least resistant to is blunt?
which one? what it says?
Seven were the creatures banished to this world by mighty Odin in the first days of his kingship. Seven gods and monsters too proud to bear his yoke. I have heard the tread of the Old Ones in the forest and have crouched in the shadow of the Mountain Mother when she flies. Of the others I know little. I will add to this stone when I have seen more.
compared to like 11 in piercing and 14 in slashing, blunt has only 9 enemies resistant to it
Seven?
please! spare me with those mind controlling!
Mountain Mother, this is a runestone in the black forest.
Did this is updated every New Boss?
"...i will add to this stone when i have seem more" the Stone ends here
There might be some old lore that needs updated 😛
No it’s a static runestone in Black ForestS
They might. I don't remember the one about the grey dwarfs being sinners prior to mistlands being added.
Someone Said something about Haldor being grumpy before Mistlands being added
Why? It’s correct. it’s just a little hint of Moder in the early biome which I thought was cool.
His dialogue
How long till the deep north is out?
at least 1 year
Forever and a half...is a good estimate
n+1 until it actually drops
Imagine if they released it with Ashlands but told no one
Has anyone checked? 👀
People would have found out. Lots like to explore what isn't widely known.
Proberly not lol
I mean the seven, since there are as of right now already 7 biome bosses and we've got at least one more, plus the final one
one more and the final one?
What do you mean, plus the final one?
looks at all the YT videos of people going off the edge of the world prior to mistlands update
Just one more boss
The Ashlands runestone looks so crammed in there
Yes some people’s builds got messed up in the deep north with the generation changes, but no content update to the biome obviously.
That only happens on old worlds. It’s in the right place in new worlds.
Has anyone here ever attempted to flatten an entire swamp?
There's the Deep North that will be a full biome, likely a final boss, but an Ocean forsaken is up in the air, who knows what will happen. If they keep it at 9 total, the last one might come from the ocean, or whatever
the Kraken
Oh, I guess that makes sense. Idk if the queen just had more space to work with but I don't remember mistlands doing this
I build platforms joining up each bit with wooden floor
Going by Norse myth...it might be yormingander.
Using the trees?
Just the normal starting platforms
Remind me of ghost valley from Mario cart
We haven't had anything explicitly from myth, just inspired by it. I would expect them to keep up that kind of pattern.
Going by Norse mythology it definitely couldn't be Jörmungandr.
I want to make my swamp spawn proof and easy to traverse so I’m working on flattening it with a hoe and spawn proofing it with campfires.
We just killed second boss and found a swamp, haven’t found a crypt yet but found bonemass straight away
I found a really good swamp with a crypt and those fire things that u can use to farm surtling cores
So I’m just gonna spawn proof the entire swamp so I can freely AFK farm those things
Alternatively, I’m thinking I could save time and just build a tree house
In our new Ashlands world, I walked 10 yards into the first Swamp I found and got turnips. That NEVER happens.
RNG at it finest
what are turnips good for
Turnip stew I believe
Cauldron improvement and a lot of food recipes
Quite a few things, and they regain usefulness in a Mistlands level meal as well
If i sailed to a different part of the map and my portal got destroyed also my boat do i just have to restart from step on again
One *^
Make a new boat yes
Damn mosquitoes
happened to me too (more times i liked)
Bro literally one tapped me i was like wtf took me like 4 hours to get all the stuff organized and ready to sail off i get there and just instant dead im like yeah im gonna make some cereal and relax now
As long as you didn't get "stranded" it's just a matter of building another ship and sailing to get your stuff back.. Otherwise it'll be a whole different story, waking up naked on a continent/island with no settlements or possessions, literally starting over with stone axe etc to build a raft at some point 😄
Plains aren't anything to joke about, especially if you are new to the game and have skipped the standard progression. If you aren't going into the plains with silver armor (or mountain equivalent) , you will likely die quickly.
Skeeters are glass cannons. Easy to destroy but also dish out huge damage if they catch you off guard.
Root chest is like a cheatcode for plains
Ah ...right...fine wood. Thanks much. Was thinking regular wood for some rrason
Have you got fine wood yet?
I really wish we could build vertical ladders
would solve so many base construction problems, lol
Not functioning, but you could build something that looks like a ladder. Vertical posts for the side rails and horizontal for the rungs.
nah I need function 😄
Then you might Wana ask around the modding community. They might have something.
any "Easy" mehods to Flatten things BIGGER AREAS at times instead of Pickaxe and use a Hoe to finish the job ?
There are mods for that I believe, but nothing in vanilla.
I believe so(?) It might have been super hammer.
A server I played on a long time ago had a mod that, if you put down 3 vertical 1m posts and hit it with the build hammer, it would flatten the area.
sounds alot like world edit
Might have been. I was just joining for the building. Never got around to asking what mods were loaded. Only one I know for sure was beepin(or something like that) because that was required as a code injector.
already spent like 15 Hours last 2 days Just for my worlds to corrupt and spent the last 5 Hours Pickaxing away and still not being done
Ouch.
If you haven't, try asking in mods chat: https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202934289898151966
Any strategies for the Fallen Valkyries? I keep getting goofed on by them
shoot 'em dead with bows crossbows or magic
Their fire is easily dodgeable, their spinny attack you can easily walk out of, but when they lunge for you you might have to block/parry/dodge
Bonemass and fire resist can mitigate much of the damage but I usually alternate between crossbow and sword/shield
thanks for the tips!
Anyone have some tips on killing asksvin as a full mage?
It seems like ember and frost are the best ones
If there's multiple get them to lunge at each other or fireball them. If there's one maybe two ice staff it
oh actually I am full mage, I alternate with staff of embers and frost while I backpedal. Dodge left or right when they lunge!
Sounds good. I was sad dundr doesn’t really mess them up
funny I have no problem with them but the fallen Valkyries are another story 💀
I guess dodging will help a lot.
really, Its just the lunge timing
a well timed sprint will work left/right
Do you run all eitr food?
hi, where is the list of items needed for comfort?
ashlands is literal pure hell
Am I going insane, or has the wind become a joke since the Ashlands update? I haven't seen strong winds pretty much ever, and like 75% of the time it is going in the exact opposite direction that I'm trying to sail to
The ocean has never looked more like a flat surface
and there's smoke and stuff everywhere, ash winds
How do I do dev commands? Trying to sort a broken mod ate 2 stacks of copper and a half chest o coal. I need to respawn it but can't remember how
evil bug things
If you have the option enabled, press [F5].
In the screen following after that, type: "Spawn Copper 60" (minus the brackets) and press [enter]
For the coal you can use the same method while console is still open.
Thanks much
2 Eitr food and one big health/stammina food
Hey everyone. Anyone got a hack on how to flip carts that is the wrong i side up lmao?
can't pull it as its upside down, cant push it from the sides or from behind by running into it which would flip it over.
Do I just simply need to accept there is no way to do this and go back to base to make another?
can you mine the ground around it?
Why flip it?
Bash it with an axe until it breaks, pick up the resources and build a new one.
Nope, all my pickaxes are broke, I'd have to go home
Yo true.
hello everyone
Thank you!! I wish I'd asked here before I spent 30 minutes trying to flip it
how are you all
NP.
Sometimes the easiest solutions are so obvious, we don't even think about those.
Good luck rebuilding it and transporting your goods. 🙂
Valheim is a brutal survival viking game, in reality, when a cart flipped due to a physics bug vikings just accepted that the cart was lost forever and had a funeral for it and it's contents then and there
I have so many hours in this game, I played for months when it first came out but then had a huge break... have forgotten EVERYTHING 🥲
Portals are dope!
Playing alone is so rough. There used to be 5 of us carting ore back to base with no issue. Taking 2 copper deposits home on my own in a cart is ROOOUGHHHH.
Well, there's always the option to turn portals having the ability to allow everything being teleported.
Makes transporting ores a lot easier.
Although - imho - it also removes a bit of the exploration / sailing experience.
Yeah, I thought about that option. I may utilise it later down the line
but like you said, it kind of takes away the experience. It's a survival game for a reason.
I kind of like needing to create biome bases and using boats to haul things back
I have to kill the elder soon
have all bronze now
Not sure what is next. I froze in mountains. Swamp has nasty ghosts
I'm usually transporting everything that can't be portalled by boat; but used the option to portal everything once because I had forgotten that I had a non-portable Mistland item in my boat instead in a chest at my Mistland base.
But in general I will use boats to transport ores until I get to Ashlands. After that I'll see what I'm going to do.
After The Elder it's the Swamp.
So better get a good bow and start practicing sneak bow shots, because you will need them.
Once you got the hang of that and use it for both monsters on land and in the water, the Swamp ain't that scary.
How do you sneak bow shot?
Every time I draw I stand up again. Seems like it's not possible.
You will stand up, but it's still considered as a shot done while sneaking.
ah
The one after that counts as a "normal" one.
Unless you're able to go back into sneaking mode and hide behind something, so whatever you tried to hit doesn't see you.
They will however come over to investigate.
But that way you will be able to deal good damage to every Draugr in the swamp. Even with flint-head arrows (as they're a lot cheaper as bronze-head arrows)
Mostly been using fire arrows
I got resin everywhere
more eyes than I know what to do with
Fire arrows are nice, but when trying to shoot something in water the DoT and stacking doesn't work.
Flint head arrows don't DoT, but do more damage, which means they're better in that case.
You can use the eyes for portals and a food in the mountains.
I found this vendor, too. Seems to not have anything very interesting
Sparkler? No idea what that is for.
i wish taking over a fort would decrease spawns in the surrounding area
Hildir does offer you a quest when you talk to her.
Check the map near her after she's done and you will know what to do.
Things she sells may be better - opinions vary on that - once you've done (parts of) her quests.
Oh I didn't even notice that. Sealed Towers and Howling Caverns?
aye
And smoldering tomb.
I advise you to do the tomb once you're finished with the Swamp, the Cavern once you're finished with the plains and the Towers once you're finished with Mistlands; as you will a bit overpowered that way.
campfire is your friend
campfire prevents spawning in a 20m radius, won't be attacked by mobs, is small and unobtrusive once it goes out (still prevents spawning) and won't be destroyed by fire rain (pretty sure)
I swear when a troll aggros the greydwarves decide to spawn out of nowhere
Valheim animated series when?
They only spawn extra during the night.
Otherwise they're drawn to you fighting the troll. (Like everything not liking you is drawn to you the moment you make lots of noise).
Anyone know anything about the obscene latency in Ashlands with multiplayer?
Gjall never despawn do they?
You might ask that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202550119191412736 or https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202320491377856512 as it's more likely people with knowledge about multiplayer are over there.
BetterNetworking Valheim on the server and the clients helps a bit
Help in what way?
In that way you may consider asking that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510
time to plant the entire ashlands with campfires
Man
If I could make one change to this game right now
I would remove the stupid non stick boots that the devs have saddled us with
Who the hell sat down one day and said "Yeah, vikings coated the bottoms of their boots in oil before going out every morning"
they're self explanatory
You can block them and hit them immediately after.
Also, if you still need to kill The Elder, you're way above your league right now.
If you roll towards them when they get super close they'll pretty much always miss
Hey! is it not possible anymore in ashlands update to change name on a portal and then enter it and then change the portal name on the other side too?
Nope, that's patched out.
I see. is there a another way to change name on a portal pair?
An additional portal pair
oh tru!
If you got an unnamed one, drop a new unnamed one at the end, change the names of both portals and destroy the unnamed portal at the end where you wanted the pair to have a different name.
right, smart
It's in general a good thing to have an unnamed portal anyway, as that will also make it easier to escape a nasty situation.
So dropping a (temporary) 2nd one will always work.
man I love trolls
I love donuts.
i hate ashlands
what's wrong
There are many things wrong with the ashlands
I wouldnt say difficulty, but annoyance jump is too steep
dang now a goblin lookin guy got me
I don't know why these mobs are here all of a sudden
Waht are you doing in the Plains when you're still need to defeat The Elder?
That's 3 levels above your current one.
I'm in the forest where the elder thing is
They spawn at night in the Plains, as that's their intended biome.
I am looking for the burial chambers
If they are in the Black Forest, it's because it's close to the plains.
