shield upgraded higher, more regular armor (carapce armor maybe), higher block skill, there's a lot of factors
Right isnt it based on a ratio of sorts
Like its based on x damage vs y armor and not just armor %
yea it's a bit complicated
I wouldn't know because im not into that stats like that but isnt it something like 30% damage taken if the armor and damage are the same
That's just my observation
@floral ibex
1 point of armor blocks 1 damage. But if you have enough armor to block more than 50% of the mobs damage, the remaining armor after having blocked 50% becomes less effective
Ok so if lets say for simplicity sake a boar does 50 damage and i have 50 armor 25 will be instantly blocked and the rest is like what 0.8 per 1 damage?
pretty much like that, at least from my understanding. I think it's less than 0.8 though
*"If your armor stat is LESS THAN HALF of the incoming damage, your armor stat is directly used as damage reduction. 1 armor = -1 damage taken.
At armor being 1/2 OR MORE of the incoming damage the formula is this:
Damage / (Armor x 4) = percent damage taken."*
From reddit
just upgraded my block a bit with a copper knife, a 1 star grey dwarf is only being parried for ~22 and blocked for ~18, and it does more than 22 if it hits me with no shield
taking bleed through no matter what
So in this example, 25/(50x4) = 12.5%
12.5% x 25 damage = 3.125 damage taken
Armor is wack
😄
correct assessment
Its wack but i agree with the method
Does armor on block count?
I know thats a stupid question but i gotta ask if its calculated the same
kirriloid has a bunch of calculators for all that iirc
The math is simple i just gotta know what the math is
for general fighting in ashlands, is fracturing an upgrade to embers?
general consensus: not
yea. Block armor is the exact same as regular armor, just only applying when you block/parry.
Not entirely sure if it adds regular armor and block armor together and then calculates damage, or if it calculates damage with block armor, and then afterwards calculates the remaining damage with regular armor
guess im not alone then lol. seems like the only practical use might be getting swarmed by vultures
Thank you
It technically has a bit more blunt and a lot more fire damage, but it requires hitting all the projectiles and doesn't do an AoE like embers so generally it's meh. At least in Ashlands where fire damage isn't great. Saw someone do stats on it earlier
is frost generally better then?
anyone got a server rushing for ashlands?
Frost staff is pretty good in Ashlands. Honestly though I would just try out different weapons and see what floats your boat
Personally I'd say Ember staff for groups and ice staff for single targets is a solid setup
It's actually crazy fracturing staff is over double the fire damage of embers. Would probably wreck Moder
Does anyone happen to know if Valheim runs better on Intel or AMD (if there’s an appreciable difference)?
Its good in general tbh
hadn't read that one but i'm still unconvinced it's "better"
Slow is so strong
fracturing is just so unreliable compared to embers
I've always really loved frost staff. Despite embers gigachadding mistlands even more than ice does
Embers is fun
I can embrace my inner anger issues!
Thats and protection is super good
No matter what magic you're using, it's generally gonna be pretty OP
Man I would love if they added a smaller world size for solo play
The game is already optimised for solo play.
Huh? It's literally a single player game.
I could see a smaller world size being interesting. I'd say maybe not necessarily for solo play, but just for going through the game faster if you don't like travelling far and wide to find/get to bosses and such
they gave us sliders to cut back on artificial length, and also to add it if we want
@paper marsh Sure it was fun the first time but on new playthroughs the sailing gets really tedious imo especially before you get Moders power
There is nothing worst then the wind also being right in your face and moving like a snail
that's why there's less forced sailing in the later biomes
I feel that. I've recently been trying to do some accelerated playthroughs too
Yes there is... it's the wind being right in your face while a serpent is chasing you...
imagine if they gave us a flametal smelter that only worked in meadows, and didn't give us the stone portals
@vagrant bobcat Bruh that happened to me with the new serpents when I was heading to the Ashlands. Thought my boat was gonna sinking and was about to rage quit
Time to break out the Moder power.
or being overencumbered while trying to pull a 8000kg cart through a boiling ocean
I find it like mediation
Man, gotta say though I'm not really feeling the new biome... it feels like 80% fighting, and 20% exploring... and with the 80% fighting monster drops fill my inventory by the time i get like 100 feet from my portal
I have no life anyways so vibing on a boat is chill
V is your friend.
Tbh the dark forest felt like that at first
What does V do again? That's my sit button lol
Nothing nothing nothing 19 greydrawfs
Turns off auto-pickup.
Ashlands just feel like medium difficulty fighting everywhere, including fortresses. I wish there was a more concentrated challenge somewhere, like in previous biomes
I like auto pick-up
on the other hand, the gear and mob variety feels great
That's fine, but if you're having trouble with an overloaded inventory it can be really useful.
I haven't tried it yet, but I'm assuming the cultivator can't place grass in the ashlands?
Ah i just get angry trying to pickup stuff with a joystick
Id rather eat drywall
No, it always places the default 'grass' texture for that biome.
I have a question
go onnnnn
Is the eitr armor viable or is the ac important on the carapace gear and magic is just a backup
If the ashlands grass can catch fire, it could pose a issue if to close to a lava lake...
magic is definitely viable
Like its 70 vs 118 or so
Even in mistlands? Noted
It's all that I'm currently using in Ashlands.
I wouldn't really suggest it as a back up, since you need to sacrifice at LEAST one Health or Stam food for an Etire food
depends what build you want, if you prefer fighting the mobs in melee then armor is the way along with bubble from from yr eitrweave wearers who should stay back
magic is the strongest strategy in Mistlands and Ashlands. Safe, good damage, crowd control. You could mix it with a stamina or health food and do a bit of melee if you wanted tho
Also don't necessarily need all eitr robes for mage style. Some fenris or ||askvin || armor for mroe mobility can be really good too (or a mix of fenris eitr)
did they change the way grass renders in the game? dont remember it loading so much in while you run in more detail. or maybe they just made close grass way upgraded?
I was thinking a tank setup use the shield and wear my best armor
Super real
HEy guys, i cant go to the ashlands until the weekend because i am waiting on my friend. Can someone please tell me what items(pre-ashlands) i can farm that are valuable in ashlands, while I wait? Feel free to DM me or reply to this message.
with that build I would definitely not wear any mage armor
The draw distance on grass has never been great. might just be misremembering it
If you're a bubble guppy and hit a parry it blocks no matter what
Yea i noticed i don't mind tho
shield is only useful if yr gonna be parrying, there's no real useful "tank" mode, as the tower shields make movement and killing anything misreable
yeah maybe just mis remembering. its distracting me haha since i last played like 6ish months ago. thanks
Hmm ok so is the bubble worthless then?
I felt the same way when I picked the game back up, so I feel you lol
no, bubble is great
i meant actual shields xD
definitely valuable for a pure mage build.
I do two etir food, one stam, and keep bubble up at all times
Oh i use a buckler
you want every advantage you can if yr taking mobs on
Yea my shield has uh 455 absorption
anyone know if smoke puffs can be grown?
I only need to refresh every now and then
I play solo so i try to not die no matter what
So hp hp Hp yknow how it is
parry boss
Skeletons kinda suck in mistlands because of the terrain i find
I would certainly try running a mage build at least once. I avoided on my original playthrough when mistlands first came out, but now I picked the game back up a couple months ago and just loving it.
that's everywhere xD
I have maxed eitr armor
I just can't tell which is better
I think they are only harvestable, not farmable. They are like mushrooms. Haven't tried though.
they are really good at one thing, shooting hares
Yesnt? I find its good in meadows plains mountains
YES ABSOLUTELY I SUCK THO
xD
if you can actually get a ranger... lol I get melee skellies about 80% of the time
i need to do a bit of testing to see how they hold up in Ashlands
Oh that reminds me
Can i mix and match damage resistance armor like root fen or silver? Like two pieces of good ac and one resistance or am i better to use potions
Like if i wanted to use a root helm for poison is that viable?
yes, all the seperate resistances from seperate armor pieces work independently
Yea i know it works im wondering if its effective
Like will it reduce damage more then raw ac
situationally it can be very effective
Oh ok because i was thinking i could make a set-up for everyone biome
like root harnesk gets a long shelf life coz of it's pierce res
Is it that good? How much does it stop
i don't use it myself, don't remember the numbers either xD i just know folk swear by it
it makes squitoes and spear fulings trivial
Damn guess i can google it lol instead of being lazy also are the mini bosses hard? Like the smoldering tomb was easy are the others like that? Or is it gonna scale like crazy
Like on a scale of eikthyr to yagluth how hard
relative to the biomes they inhabit, i'd say
I use it all the time, it turns 30 Pierce damage to 5~6
Damn so like a weak potion thats permanent
Armour also contributes to that so it depends.
That was my question because root armor ac sucks
max hp, heavy armor & shield on. Uber
Right now I use it with Padded Greaves and Helmet along with a Lox Cape so my total armour is 79. All of them are max guality by the way, except the cape.
Ah i use maxed out carapace or eitr atm with a feather cape
Its 118 armor + 90 block armor + 455 shield absorption
Root armor has 14 at max
yeh you wouldn't use the full set after swamp, even in swamp i don't like it much xD
Not full set but just one piece
Like a helmet or chest im wondering if lowering my ac is viable
It can be, you just have to compensate with health foods.
how often are you fighting with yr bubble down? i can't imagine it's much
I'm scared all the time so like never? Id rather have low hp than no shield
Its pretty tanky and the lower hp i am the less hp its using to make it
so armor is secondary to all that
Ok so is eitr armor the play then?
if you can be safe enough with the shield, yeh
Bet
the re-casting time reduction will really help as well in that style
jesus... dunno how i survived this... Loud noises just draw more...
Just fought 2 morgen, 2 asksvin, 3 archers, 1 warrior, 1 one star warrior, and 4 twitchers.... with a group of vultures joining the fight (twice) and lived to tell the tale.
Have the lines of the chunks (or how do you call them in Valheim) certainly become more visible or wtf? All my graphics settings are the same, ultra and high, but I've never seen this so strong before (yes there are mods, but I can't imagine any of them having an effect like this... #screenshots message
Also is running all three healing potions viable?
Just spam heals and shields?
Sorry im asking a lot of questions
Does armor affect absorption or does it just take the exact amount of damage
What’s the asksvin skull used for?
Quick question, is there an expected release date for the Xbox version of the Ashlands update?
Known issue. Unknown when it will be fixed
Not that i know of Microsoft is being Microsoft so
Ah thx. Not me going insane 😄
Seems ashlands made some major changes and made those lines more visible. Several posts above yours is the same thing: #screenshots message
I really thought is was me, so I didn't look further :vv:
I know you can make a statue with it for decoration. Not sure about anything.
It affects the PB way of painting terrain anyway.
lava does way too much damage. especially for having barely visible chunks everywhere on ground that looks safe
The chunk load issue makes me wonder if you can grass/pave over the lines with the hoe
Yes.
That also begs the question of if you did a force update to the terrain, if that would get rid of the lines en bulk.
Painting with PB gives some weird lines that are not paintable at all. (not on the same spots as the lines, just random, triangles and other figures too)
So weird, but nothing to lose sleep over.
Unfort 😭
So I'm trying to figure out how to hide the HUD again. Shift+this, Alt+that... I seriously just tried ALT+F4. That is a new low.
But srsl I forgot...
no worries, if yr gonna be mainly shielded, not taking much damage and relying on skelettes with bubbles to occupy while you snipe there's really not much concern unless you get unexpectedly bombarded by new mobs, so in that rare scenario, backup pots might be an advantage, but in an already tiny inventory you gotta consider what's most impotant to be carrying, popping bonemass power might be the alternative to all that, saving those slots for loot
CTRL+F3 ffs
are smoke bombs good for anything ?
Besides making a colorful mess on a driveway, in game I assume they are a non fire-based AOE thay may or may not also break line of sight. But that is a guess only.
is there anywhere updated with what mats are needed for new armor?
Ok new favorite weapon found: Thundering berserker axe
Yes!
A man after my own heart! 🥳
Speaking of which
Those things are beasts!!! ⚡️ 🪓 ⚡️
Does bonemass and root armor stack?
Probably not
They only give you resistant to pierce
You’d need an upgrade item that is very resistant to improve the bonus
Just made them and went to test em on some charred warriors and holy fing Thor!
Aw man
I like the primal nidhogg sword too but nothing and I mean nothing is more satisfying then something and hearing that crackle of lightening go off
Also i don't understand why yagluth gives lightning resistance what even does lightning damage in this game
Like am i stupid or something or does no enemy do this type of damage
Oh i just wish it gave poison resistance
Lightning feels kinda useless
But hey its not as useless as the elder so
there's that
Our group started over and we just beat the Queen we are heading to Ashlands in a day or so
Can't wait to storm the beaches of Normandy
is there a way to remove lava pools yet?
Do Lox still have an allotted amount of space they need to reproduce? The ||ashkin|| reproduce like crazy so I wasn't sure if this has been changed.
nope, gotta make the bilebombs to get across em
He means ||basalt bombs|| not bile bombs
likewise but yes, they are good
insanely good in mines
there's also|| flametal pillar pieces|| once you have some so you don't need to use the bombs all the time
Is ||AshLands || the|| last biome|| to get added?
i really don't like how ||ore sinks||
no, Deep North is the last we're told
yes
Whats its stats i dont wanna make it if its trash
Any recommendations for us valheim server provider?
off the top i think it's 90hp
serpent is good for a long stretch, probably wanna get some better food on tho
What do you recommend 😭
mushroom omelette, misthare supreme + other, maybe serpent stew
I use seeker aspic
just gotta have a warm room and fire that they can't walk on when they hatch basically
you'll want a roof, any sized room really, though with breeding limits if you want significant amounts it's better to use height to seperate breeding hens and eggs
just checking do asksvins actually eat the proustite powder? i just put a shitload near a dude and he refused to eat, even while unaggroed
Thank you
np, lots of youtube tutorials to make a quick breeder out there
to add more context i have tamed one before, but with smoke puffs so ik its not my taming methods
i wouldn't have thought they ate the powder
Do i need more than 118 stamina tho?
situational, if i were you i'd forgo the health for more eitr food
random question: Would you consider smoke puffs to be ashland mushrooms or vegetables?
but for me i like to get in there with Mistwalker, so i make sure i have the health and stam to cope
Right im only using the shield atm
I use a sword and buckler otherwise
yr not using ember?
Currently? No should i be?
yes lol, with mage armor, bubbled and staying back blasting while yr skele's take the attention is optimal
exception mines, where you might find bile bombs or an aoe hammer more help along with that
very, my recommendation for a 2nd eitr food
Ok so misthare porridge and seeker
or omelette if you wanna be full glass cannon but still have more movement
Can i use a salad instead
i think it is, but i do all the things needed for the mats anyway, if you don't already do all that, and you have the mats for lots of salads, go salad
Yea im kinda slow and never made a single farm
I've used computers for 35 years - Windows specifically for 28+ - and have done that in the last year.
Oh so you're like old enough to be my dad
Possibly, yeah. I'm 41.
Then definitely
Smoke puffs are a fungus
Same in using age and I can say this is the first time I am aware I specifically tried this...
Ctrl+F2 or F3 iirc 🙂
f3
Aaaand same in body using age 😄
I got it a bit later when I got the insight to search for it in this discord :vv:
Wait can the smoke puffs be planted? I didn't thnk they could be.
If you are old enough to have kids I could be their grandmother 😢
Wrong person replying to? 😄
yea and I'm on my phone and can't be arsed to fix it, sorry hahaha
NP just checking you weren't misunderstanding my using age 😄
cannot remove them
thanks man
||you can build on top of them if high enough, flametal pillars and beams can be built in there to create a foundation thing sort of but very expensive||
good to know, i appreciate the info
im mostly a builder anyway so cost is a non issue
My character stopped picking up items automatically, how do I fix it?
Press V
thx ❤️
I really just can't see how people are enjoying ashlands, since when is Valheim a horde based game?
i do feel that somewhat, but im enjoying the general style of the game and trying to ignore the combat issues lmao
the game feels balanced for multiple people, like 3+ people, playing together at some points past mistlands
I honestly like the game less with every update the devs seem to love making the game obnoxious and tedious at every turn
since plains "The horde is attacking"
I hate it because the game at its core is amazing
fulings and especially beserkers are very easy to run from, you cannot outrun a pack of asksvins
also the spawners that the charred come from seem to have no limit to how many can be near
which is one of the issues that i feel that if fixed, would greatly make the game feel less punishing to those of who are fewer in number
Running ashlands on your own is hard as hell
running ashlands in a group of 3 is pretty chill
sounds about right
The worst part is how short all of the parry windows appear to be and how large the knockback is
Parry enemy
Sprint towards enemy because you each got knocked back 3m
Parry window is over and enemy is winding up another attack
Repeat
A good thing though is that you can just use ranged weaponry to kill the spawner and then run away and wait for the mobs to despawn
@brazen rune It honestly feels like the devs only think about playing in groups
I think after plains
things just, way harder
i dont have an issue with parry windows
My experience with Ashlands has been land spent 30 minutes fighting enemies non stop finally get a base set up stopped playing. Logged in 3 times after got tired after fighting non stop for 20 min went to do something else
would be nice if parrys were actually possible against some of the stronger enemies, like mostly starred enemies
which i know is based on gear strength, max hp, etc
I mean i am but ALSO hell no
Against the soldiers?
Parry windows aren’t the hard part, it’s deciding if parrying is the right choice or not, considering stamina costs and stagger
true
I find that if I'm parrying the soldier there's about a 50/50 chance we bounce off each other like rubber balls
eh with the soldiers specifically their attack timings are so weird i usually kinda miss the parry, getting better tho
If I parry them, I try to parry twice. Once for the fast attack, and again for the slow attack. If you want to roll, it’s best to roll backwards so you aren’t hit by the slow attack if they do one.
Soldiers have 4 different attack animations, two are feints and they'll act like they're attacking only to attack with a slight delay
None of them are actually double attacks
@clear comet I wouldn't say the Mistlands was crazy hard just obnoxious to explore the first because you can't see anything and everything is a jagged mountain. Starting with the Queen and now with Ashlands it feels like the devs are designing solely around group play and making the solo experience much worse.
the issue is not that the game gets linearly harder, enemies just seem to hit exponentially harder from mistlands onward, especially starred enemies and lots of enemies are problematic
biggest issue i remember is that even with level 2 or 3 carapace armor, decent gear and all that, i still couldnt parry a two star seeker
or sometimes i could with a buckler, but it would nearly stagger me in one shot
That makes sense tho
Its 2 stars like a mini boss
eh not really a fan of enemies that have literally no counterplay but run away
Dodge?
Just deal with it 😁
Its not parry or die
It's dodge hit dodge die
@brazen rune Yeah with the mistlands the devs have made the difficuly focused around enemies outscaling their biomes upgrades
anyone know where i can find weapon stats once i've ||given them their elemental upgrade?||
This
imo, dodging is not made to be 100% viable due to the massive amount of stamina it requires
or perchance dodge hit dodge too early die
Mace secondary pushes lord reto very far, I easily killed him without taking any damage
Learn enemy patterns
this
Sounds like you just wanna stat cheese what is effectively a mini boss
IKR!
No like im 18 KIDS would be CRAZY rn
Amen
for ashlands ||the big lizard boys have two leap attacks, one goes considerably farther and then a bite attack||
no, i would just like to have maxed gear from a biome be able to effectively fight enemies from said biome
This reminds me to dig a hole
I've not set foot in the ashlands yet but I'm curious to see what my facetank method will get me except lots and lots of death and misery 😄
You can but just saying i cant parry cheese them to death is eh? Not a great point its a rare two star two stars act as a mini boss of sorts
i mean even fulings are a pain even in maxxed out padded
what?
In groups yes alone no
parrys arent designed to be cheese, they're designed to be harder to pull off and rewarding once theyre landed, and it aint that fun when you're instantly stunned by a parry when gear wise, you shouldnt be an underdog
In group everything is a b*tch
yep
But I run in Abby armour in the plains untill I want to take on Yag.
i am fine with a biome being tough when you first get there even, but if you have the armor from that biome, you should be strong enough to deal with most of the stuff from said biome
Parrying isnt hard tho? Its super generous and basically grants free damage and stun on repeat its a bit op
i went through mistlands in maxed out fenris armor
Also I never use a shield 🤦
I would find it dull if two stars werent hard to beat also you get magic in mistlands
I think magic works around this issue a bit
oh and @brazen rune some shields have way more knockback than others so if that annoys you you can try another
That's some devotion though.
atgeir and that is all you need
Ah yes.
dodge hit dodge hit dodge hit
i dont have an issue with parry knocking stuff back, i just have an issue with two stars instantly staggering a maxed out gear set+shield
But my axe...
its risky but rewarding
Yea... because its a two star again its not supposed to be easy to just party hit parry hit tough enemies are supposed to be tougher than you its why skill curve exists
2 star seeker soldier just one taps
Dodging is a thing magic is thing arrows are a thing i treat two stars like a boss
I can't dodge if my life was depending on it :vv: And it has been several times. I forget to use it. Same as a shield and parrying. I can do it... But since I don't remember it to use it half of the time, I just run around and facetank things with an axe. Or a sword. Or Frostner. But mostly the axe.
pop a bubble and run around with the fire staff
Exactly
tanking works if you have enough health 😁
Fair enough but theres a magic shield and if you struggle with dodging skeletons can help or you can run backwards and shoot it
And that's why I only eat health food 😄
and i mean the fire is devastating
The more steps I have to execute, the more likely I will die because I forget something. I am not a Dark Souls dancer, I'm a full frontal LEROYYYY JENKINS facetank berserker ^^ It's how I discovered how easy Abby is to kill.
The magic shield is bait in my opinion
Oh absolutely i feel that really i feel its a team game im playing solo
It feels way more balanced in a group
Who's Abby? 😭
Yesss. when entering the mistlands I definitely felt the need for backup or group activities! So I can only imagine that becoming louder.
The best mob + armour. Abomination.
At base blood magic the staff of protection gives you 200 health which is enough for *checks notes*
One attack
SKELETONS!! my best Friends!
Ah I see
I have no friends so i just use skeletons and Shields
Awww
Also i use all three healing potions
In my hotbar because if im getting hammered or i see im about to be popping one or even two at once can save me
Ok, I saw someone talk about this earlier... you are telling me we can use more than 1 healing potion? How long has that been that way?
One attack that would otherwise kill you
And the health goes up to 700 with high blood magic
Uh well basically each type has a different cooldown
Like a minor is on a different cooldown from a major and medium
Okay but the PAIN of dying at the literal other side of the Ashlands and having to go like a mile through ashlands naked
I have an emote for this that I can't use😭
If your argument for blood magic shield is good is "You can spend 50 hours straight grinding to get a shield that will tank 2 hits"
i wish i could get rid of skill drain on my world ☹️
You can reduce it to 1%
Nah even at level one
Well FML for never realising that... And not even trying...
oh really
With world modifiers, yes
I thought it was healing and stam and other potion cooldown.
I'll test it rn just to double check
And I can apply them to pre-existing saves?
I don't wanna feed misinformation lol
I used to have a phrase here... I need to dust it off I think.
There is a mod for that 😂
i really don't like the ||whole sinking ore thing||. nothing feels worse than watching that much progress sink below the magma lmao
You can turn it down
Can I do that on pre-existing saves
Hey, i'm looking to buy valheim on steam and i want to play it with my friend who's on an Xbox series S and the game says 'game preview', will i be able to play with him crossplatform?
Yes it won't be OFF but it lessens the amount you lose skills and it makes it so when you die back to back you won't lose more
I think there is crossplay
yeah, that's what the assumption im under but the game is the game preview so im not too sure
Yes, but ashlands isn’t out on Xbox yet (it will be in a few days) but if your friend joins the beta he will be able to play with you
Okay sweet thank you, and the fact its game preview is fine right?
Game preview is just what Microsoft calls early access
ah okay
Just walked past a morgen spawn point and two morgen came out
thank you
Yes when booting up your world go into world modifiers look for death plenty
thanks man I'll check
See which one can slap the other to death first
You can also enable teleport anything and raid rates
I wish it could be off off but I'll settle for less ig
When I save the game does that save not appear in the manage saves place? Can I not go back to that save?
do I need to make a new world for ashlands?
Uh no? From what i understand progression is permanent
Someone in general just said ashlands is out on Xbox. If they are right, your friend won’t need to join the beta now.
Only if you've generated a large amount of ashlands
cool cool
If not its fine
oh sweet, uh how exactly do they not join the beta though
Just by not joining the beta. (Beta ISNT game preview, it’s joined through the Xbox insider hub)
Old ashlands just straight up turned into ocean
No more Surtling Core farming 😔
Just make a contained seat in a tree above a swamp surtling spawner you dug down to water
Free infinite cores and coal
I have too many
Why would i farm them the swamp ALREADY gave me a ton
i have like two chests full
Now Smiffe (a developer) just said it isn’t on Xbox yet…
oh..
wait even if they're on the beta they can join me still right
Great timing, just as I let you know it isn’t out
i agree. after the plains the game takes a massive shift.
It should be, and if it isn’t right now you won’t be waiting very long
Anyone know what mats are needed for the the ash fang bow?
Yea maybe im slow but i haven't got an update yet

Nah i got it
Morgen gjall.
is there any way to generate Ashlands in our old wold before the update or do we need to create a fresh one?
i've read before that you cannot access ashlands with its new updates, meaning mobs, etc if you don't generate a fresh world after the update
That's not correct
Xbox is out? Finally
If you have explored ashlands it won't get filled in and will stay old ashlands forever, though if there are still unexplored parts down south there might be ahslands there.
Pretty sure the world upgrade mod will let you force regenerate the ashlands if you've been there before
is there a way to fly in this game
Praise the Sun!! Xbox Update is Confirmed out 🙌🔥
Yes, devcommands has you covered.
Yes but it is cheating
lunch yourself with a catapult xD
I wouldn't call it cheating per se.
Certainly not if you play solo, it is using a feature that is in the game for testing purposes.
It isn't exactly playing the game like it should be played but not exactly cheating in my book.
You don't harm anyone with it except maybe yourself and if you play with multiple people on a server they might not like it.
Since it isn't a pvp game but solo game with co-op posibilities and you aren't playing against each other can it really be called cheating?
I don't use it though.
HEy guys, i cant go to the ashlands until the weekend because i am waiting on my friend. Can someone please tell me what items(pre-ashlands) i can farm that are valuable in ashlands, while I wait?
Food, meads, the items for the new boat, weapons you are comfortable in using, stone to fortify your beach head and set up camp, bombs, ...
i need to know what items exactly
Blackstone
Iron
Fine Wood
Yggdrasil wood
prepare a good amount of food and potions for sure
depending on your prefered weapons, getting the staffs (especially frost staff) or something like a frostner or a mistwalker with a good shield should do the job too
additionally you can farm some coal to smelt the new ore and some linen, eitr to craft the new equipement once you optained the new materials
Ive already prepped consumables
Quick Question, Is It Possible For An Xbox Player To Join A Steam Dedicated Server?
I Would Assume So Since Crossplay Is A Thing, But I Was Told They Can't By My Friend And I Just Wanna Confirm
You can if both are the same version, so yesterday it was impossible but today it should work again.
Specifically With A Steam Dedicated Server, Right?
I love love love how the coolest looking weapon despite being low tier is viable
I believe so if the server has been configured for crossplay.
This Is What My Friend Wrote To Me: "in order to join the server you would have to go ON STEAM and go the the STEAM SERVER LIST and join. Xbox does not have access to that menu"
So Idk
Is ashlands worth starting again?
Any Clue About That? lol
well for how much it costs to upgrade i would hope it atleast beats some plains weapons
also, what kinda enemies are in ashlands
like
undead type i assume?
Maybe you'd better ask the question in #dedicated-server .
Is "Heat Resistance" the same thing as Fire Resistance, or is the former an Ashlands-specific thing?
The items to upgrade your Mistland gear to level 4
for that you need to go to the ashlands
no, you need to go to the Ashlands to make the forge upgrade. But you can pre-farm all the mats since you can see what it takes to upgrade stuff to level 4 even without it.
and they're all Mistland mats
ohh yes i misunderstood you, my bad
So basically refined eitr, carapace, metal and such
eitr is really the big one though if you're interested in the mage playstyle, you'll easily need a few hundred to make and upgrade everything
They've been doing better with that for me since the last patch. They still run into lava to die if they're aggroed to a mob that's on lava, but otherwise they're pretty good at avoiding it now.
Though i'm also sticking to 1-2 skellies max since summoning all 4 isn't really worth it when they die so fast in Ashlands imo.
The unequal distances between the sacrificial stones is really irking me 😭
It might comfort you that this problem does not exist when you start a new seed.
Totally not the reason I wanted a new seed or anything.
Oh, how lovely
Oh my response was quite sincere 🙂
Trollstav is super buggy right now
It soft caps the number of mobs you can summon at 2 but if you are quick you can summon 3-4 trolls with a lvl 1 stav
PTB testers agree with this comment 🤣
Wow.
Has this person played the update yet…
Although I must comment that the staff of the wild is pretty amazing for me 🥳
anyone else experiencing a bunch of lag with the new update?
||new magic weapon in ashlands that summons burning troll skeletons that are hostile to everything (including the player)||
Yes but it won't be easy.
Beating queen and then getting it is easier lol
DEAL
If i could find her...
you need some loot from Ashlands but as long as you can get there without the queen drop (not impossible) you can
Ah so its just extremely difficult
kinda but not really?
||Longboat or karve as far as you can and make sure you can get on a jagged rock to either repair the boat, build a new boat or rock hop.||
||you just need to reach the Ashlands spires before your boat breaks, after that you can just jump from spire to spire||
Thank you
If you die on lava, which is incredibly easy because the lava can spit rocks from under you, it is almost impossible to retrieve your gear because the basalt bombs don't raise up your grave
And there's nothing you can do to mitigate the knockback
I’ve found that if you throw the bomb slightly to the side of the grave, you can retrieve it.
Yeah, but the lava will spit fireballs up through the basalt bomb rock which knock you off into the lava
Which then instantly kills you
Oh I see, have never had that happen.
I've had it happen 5 times in quick succession
lava bombs are blocked from spawning by player base iirc. They're definitely blocked by shield generators.
I was going out into the lava to attempt to retrieve a spear, now that I know that basalt bombs can't raise items out of the lava I'm just going to accept that anything that goes in there is lost forever
The hoe can raise lava like other terrain. Get the missing item up while standing on a basalt platform made to the side.
Nah, it was the terrible ashlands tier spear anyway
Not worth all of the effort it would take to retrieve it
mistwalker is better than all
I think maybe the mace might be on par or slightly better?
But overall yeah there's no point in anything other than the mistwalker because slow + spirit burn against most enemies + they're not resistant to slash
does the last pbt version vary at all from the version that was just released
so how much has it changed from the public test branch? looks like there haven't been any more balancing/spawn rate changes at all
14 copper nodes in a tiny black forest blimey!
mined with troll?
There are changes but nobody really knows. They didn't make patch notes for .14 to .15. The only change I'm aware of is soft tissue now being found in putrid holes
nah new play through i started a few days ago
I did mine some with the meteor from troll on my ashlands save though, was sooooo fun
wow the animated trailer is amazing
Can you break the middle pillar of the flametal ore?
No
Heavy
Yeah this was not ready for release
I'm sure that is something that would've never changed no matter what...
Put it back in the oven, can't stand on flametal only float over it, just had the whole pillar disappear whils I was trying to get off the floating bug
There's no reason to mine the central pillar
Will I need to create a new world for it to have Ashlands? My current save was created about a year ago but I never did much on it. I killed the 3rd boss and now in the mountains, map hasn't been explored much either
No need for a new save, you can continue going!
New content always generates on current worlds as long as you haven't explored the area where it generates. So as long as you weren't at the bottom of the map exploring the Ashlands placeholder before the update, you'll have the new Ashlands
Same goes for Deep North once that comes out, so try not to explore the tippy top of the map
Awesome, haven't explored any of those areas yet and will keep that in mind, thank you!
They did try to fix that particular bug but it seems quite persistant
Just seems wild that you'd go out of your way to make the flametal hard to get to and complicated to mine if you've got a persistent bug where it will be impossible to mine and/or just vanish into thin air
idk if its just me but i realised that everytime i mine something now, be it iron or copper or tin it doesnt appear at the surface it always bugs into the ground and then "spawns" on top of the surface like 5 seconds after
This feels like they easily predicted that that bug would occur and still made pillars behave the way they are right now...
It was unexpected, and they do try to fix it, they definitely would not want it considering how game-breaking it is
quick question are there any plans for valheim to come to mac or ps?
Man i haven't played the game in years and it looks amazing, did they change the graphics/lighting?
I mean, I find it difficult to believe they're unaware of the bug if it's been reported before and they've not been able to fix it
They're very aware. I think one of the patchnotes even attempted to fix it? Although it didn't do a thorough job it seems
Because they're probably still figuring out how.
One thing is knowing a bug exists (which is the easiest part), and another is to actually fix it, and even more, fix it forever
I mean, they had another month and a half they could have left it in PTB, I would work under the assumption that if something is full release it shouldn't have a game breaking bug which removes the primary method of obtaining the primary resource in the game
Considering that this happens on zero other surfaces throughout the game that I've found I'm assuming it's related to how they're doing the sinking mechanic for the towers
It can happen on actual leviathans as well I think? It's basically a reskinned leviathan
Oh so it's been in the game for years then?
No I think it came about during the PTB
Oh rip no I just saw a post on Reddit from 3 years ago about sliding off of Ocean Krakens 😅😅
(literally no one did but I'll still say it)
Something about the edges makes sliding more likely, but the flammetal pillars have less horizontal surface area so you're far more likely to land on an edge
I'm guessing the issue is that unlike leviathans, you're standing on the ore deposit itself which gets weird when it's designed to be moveable unlike other metal deposits
PTB should have NOT released so soon
Yea I expected another 3-5 weeks
As I said, back in the oven it should have gone
Yeah I was gonna say Jon is preaching to the choir here a bit, all of us talking were PTB testers who wanted this to bake more too
Ah I see
I think the pressures of a May game release were a bit too much. May is always a big month for games and a decision was probably made to move forward regardless
I mean, could have kicked the can down the road by axing the sinking mechanic for ashlands and pushing it to deep north
That would give you at least another year to not fix the bug
I understand the decision of pillar sinking bc of queen's power.
Doesn't mean I hate it less tho
I get the design decision, making something in the lava that can sink seems pretty cool. Reusing the Leviathan seems like a poor choice tho
I wonder if there will be a mod "flametal pillars don't sink"
or if that's something beyond modding
I have come to spread the good word: #news message
Xbox should now be up and running.
If there were more ways to avoid the instant death I would hate it even less.
But there aren't
Doesn't sound hard, and I'd be surprised if it isn't done by next week
Leviathans, trollstav and forts needed work - they came out a bit raw in my opinion 😂
The fort is nice
Only 1 design tho
I can kill the dudes and then have an unbreachable fortress in the ashlands
The fort is a square box.
Tamed asksvin are unreliable as they aggro away.
Flametal set doesn't do anything against lava
Basalt bombs don't seem reliable
It’s a square BOX! 🤣
its secretly the experiment with schrödingers cat, and we are the cat
Forts feel small by my definition of fort. Great for solo but tiny for 3+ people to raid all at once.
Also, the crafting amount from smoke bombs and basalt should be switched.
You definitely would need more basalt than smoke.
I don't even know what smoke bombs can be used for
Putting out fires apparently
Pretty niche tho
I tried throwing a smokebomb at a burning catapult, did nothing
Better plan:
Don’t.
Build.
WITH WOOD!!! 😂
Basically. I was told there's no way to put out fires without them, but someone else said they used a frost staff to put out a fire so now idk
I imagine it can put out ground fires though
Ashwood doesn't burn
Strange seeing as how it is literally burning down around you before you harvest it
:tinfoil:
I still think the burning trees are a big part of the crazy high natural instance count
The trees, the random projectiles from the lava, the insane particles all over the place
8k instances in a zone without building a single thing is wild to me
Kind of wild how poorly the game runs considering you can see the polygons
Cinder rain makes it turn into coal so they do definitely burn.
Or... More like it's damaged by fire, but doesn't actually catch fire
Interesting, I've had some ashwood up for ages and it's still fine, by cinder rain do you mean the stuff from the lava?
or is there an environmental effect at play here?
lil' meteors fall from the sky sometimes
I think I just dip whenever that weather event starts and don't come back until it's done, my GPU doesn't want to deal with that
Mist, Cinder rain, they ain't doing themselves any favors with all these particle effects xD
It is also still in early access.
I mean, it's in early access but mistlands and ashlands are the least performant biomes, at least on my PC
The boss causes a lot of particle effects
Mate, my flametal pillars are all disappearing, I'm not even close to the boss
...now someone needs to build a bridge to Ashlands
Why can't I find the dodge option for mouse and keyboard?
Yeah I found it online but idk why its not in the keys menu
is it possbile that silver vein I found had onle 1 piece of silver scrap? 😦
Don't think so, usually there are like a hundred. did you dig the whole thing out?
there`s more the other way
Oh yeah dig around to find the rest of it, wishbone stops once you've broken one piece
oh cool ! will dig around thank u
make lots of noise
but its hardcore mode and its night time so time to wait until morning 😄
Generally recommended to dig around it to expose the whole thing before breaking it
i say do it at night only with honey food
😨
Im scared of werewolves
they don`t like silver
I dig under it then go from there, easier that way
Also most of my ashlands castle got goofed by the update
One tower yet stands however, defiant to the end
(that section was built into a rock and the rock stuck around even when the terrain didn't)
I also have a section of floating old stlye mistlands now XD
(the one with all the webs)
Quite the world
one just came to me so they like silver
I've been in it for most of the time I've been playing since like two months after release
I think I'm at almost 1700 days?
They like vikings
They just wanna give you a hug
Do i have to remake my world to play on the new ashlands update?
nope 😄 it should update without problems if you didnt explore ashlands much
Kk, well im new and we just found the swamp place lol
It seems to update it even if you have explored
yeah, but content generation in ashlands might be janky 🙂
the edges update at least, not sure about the center of ashlands
just tamed my first boar (im 160 hours deep)
Talking about werewolves.
What do you call a careful wolf? ||Aware wolf.||
I'm having trouble locating my tamed wolf. ||Where wolf?||
Reminds me of my very first woof I tamed, and he somehow appeared outside my base during raid when I was afk.
Came back to no woof. sobs
in the mistlands, is there a way to incerease the effect of the wisp? I still barely see anything
If you're willing to mod, only way
When it is standing in plain sight and you find it again. ||There wolf.||
Oh, it's trying to sell me something now. ||A ware wolf||
Its looking at you intently. ||a stare wolf.||
Perhaps ||A glare wolf||
What do you get when you cross a female horse and a wolf? ||A Mare Wolf||
Sadly I can't lycan subscribe to these jokes.
Are all the new weapons available in the lead-up to entering Ashlands...or are they only available after entering Ashlands?
After, you need some items from the ashlands.
When you're a group of wolves and someones asks who you are. ||We'reWolves!||
What do you call a physically disabled werewolf? ||A Lycan’t.||
If you are building a base in the mist lands look for the areas that arn't foggy, they arn't common but they do exist
The wisplight no. If it's somewhere you traverse often you can put down wisp torches though, and as Carnafex says there's some areas of mistlands where there's just no mist
The biome is mainly designed for you to listen for enemies and such though, you don't necessarily need to see more than what's right in front of you
I don't find the wisplight too useful and often just start progressing on mistlands before killing yag
Wait really? the fog is so absurd idk how you could travel without the wisp light XD
You can see enough to see if there's a cliff in front of you or not. And most the important locations have wisp torches built in so they're easy to spot
Going high for a nice vantage point above the mist helps too
Mobs aren't much a problem because they have a lot of sound cues. Worst case you could also bring them to a mistless area to fight
Still it is nice having a wisplight just not required
Boss fight is super nice to have wisp torches for
Anyone know how long the timer is on fiddlehead and smoke puff respawning? I picked some several in game days ago and no sign of regrowth
i'd guess the same as berries? 4hr/8game days
does anyone know a mod to send mats from your inventory to crates in base without opening one a one?
"enshrouded" mod xD
That's a question for the #mods-discussion channel
Tiny question for you guys. I got the ashlands update on xbox just now, but i had a world i made yesterday, and only explored the starting island. Does that mean the funny lava biome got updated down south?
So I have a question related to graphics. I have RTX 3070, with 32 ram and i7 12700k. What would be the best performance/enjoyable settings you would use? Right now, the game is running smoothly. However, I have my first world running since the beginning of time, when making walls with terrain was a bit easier. When Im in the town I built, fps drops to 50/60, while exploring, it never goes down 130+. Should I create a new seed, as the world is a bit old or should I tune the graphics for better perfomance? Again, this only happens in the city I have built (which has at least 10000 objects xD)
Yes. If an enemy does too much damage your parry will fail and you take the full damage
Higher block armor (better shield) and also having a higher MAX hp (eat a lot of good hp foods, it doesn't matter what your current health is just your max health) will make the parries succeed more
A parry can fail even if the hit doesn't kill you too. It's just if there's too much damage for your shield and max hp, the parry just gets cancelled
got to beef up
You complaning about 50 fps? Im suffering with 20 over here.
I've noticed stuttering since the update seems like it needed some more time before being released
I had 20 before the update... IT GOT WORSE?!
lower light sources
My laptop does pretty well on fairly low graphics and I thin 15 active light sources
i get 60 with 6800xt but lights on High only, rest max
Does anyone has the codes to enable the modifiers on a dedicated server? Thanks
I believe that if you have the shield from staff of protection every parry works, no?
Im on console. We dont have that kind of technology. Guess ill suffer.
yup. Can parry a 2 star berserker fuling with your fists
thank you
Morning everyone
Goodmorning
Smoke doesn’t affect windmills right?
I doubt it would do anything regarding windmills
Anyone?
you got lots of reactions saying yes on your message 😄 but yes it should update without issues i believe
I dont see the reactions. I have an older version of discrod because i hate the new ui, but thanks mate. Cheers

Thanks! I'll try the active point lights and active poit light shadows on high instead of inf. Everything else is active, right? Distant shadow, bloom, etc. Only motion blur and dof off
Has anyone else been wondering what this new rock/stone is supposed to be based on from the Ashlands?
Like Grausten doesn't come up in any translation, so I am going out on a limb that it's an original name.
My guess is it's similar to Granite or Greisen
But I am not too sure.
I've wondered but put absolutely zero effort in finding out
gråsten - granite
Ahhh
thank you very much
my hunch was correct
🙌
mystery solved
back to smashing charred
Man started a new map and character for ashlands and I've been trying to get to the ashlands as fast as I could. Killing Yagluth last night in troll hide armor aside from a root harnesk and a lvl 1 frostner was an endeavor and then I died twice in the same infested mine and just had to log off for the night. Victim of my own hubris but god damn lol.
hmm, depending on the definition of smash that could be considered ||necrophilia||
oofie
going to have to take the time to break some mistlands iron sources and make some padded armor I think because the bug soldier in that mine was just giving me the business
anyone find any new building items added in the ashlands update?
that are not ashlands specific
Did they add any other than the p- ooh I can buy chicken eggs now- piles of straw?
I guess there's the stack of bones and black marble too
Other than the alchemy table upgrade, shield generator, and I think straw piles (not sure what those take to make), I have not
Still wish they'd add piles of the various ingots for decorative purposes
and let me put dragon tears on item stands
You need straws for straw piles, obviously
plastic or paper straws?
if its plastic, let us build em on Laviathans
Paper to save turdles
And now I wonder if they'll ever add sea turtles, I thought I'd heard at one point the ocean biome was gonna be one they expanded as well.
heh, i just found a chamber with 8 surtling cores in one room 😄 quite pleased with that
its been suggested alot.
i want them to add one more biome before the ocean update so it can act as a symbolic Yggdrasil (9 biomes connected by the sea, 9 worlds connected by the tree)
Only biome left is the northern cold biome right?
and the ocean
And then some crazy underground biome, with diamonds
Yea Deep North is the only real biome getting a bunch of content. And then there's likely gonna be a bit of ocean stuff but if so it is very likely nothing on the scale of ashlands or mistlands
I hope ashlands spurred new purchases enough to continue to make updating valheim be worthwhile for them
Why deep north not yet released 😠
I know they made an absolute killing with initial launch but no idea what the sustained sales have been like
took em nearly two years to make ashlands methinks, i think we will get deep north in 2027
I mean, thank Valhalla they made Ashlands after so much time xD take it easy with North
Because it is not ready yet. Although if you're really hungry for Deep North you can actually go there already!
should have been a soft joke since ashlands had been released lmao
Wait what, are people already complaining about Deep North?
teasing*
Probably would never happen but I would like if they added a way to create those draugr spawners so I can add them around my base and they could clear pesky mobs
not in a serious manner I don't believe
Okay 😄 I was like wtf for a moment there.
We were just discussing the next biome they'll do, north or perhaps ocean
Yea, Deep North doesn't have aurora or northern lights or whatever you call them. I'm so angy, literally shaking rn
or perhaps both at the same time
✨ aurora borealis ✨
I mean any update to the ocean should just be a few monster models and crafting recipes, terrain asset wise there isn't much to be done lol
tbh, its a small team, and if I were them... once deep north launches and the game is "done", the player base would start to fall off.
I would personally do another Hearth and Home style update between Ashlands and Deep North
Deep north is absolute proof the earth is flat
It was the perfect place to hide the interior from my Tardis ánd add a quest to The Doctor that she needed help getting the heating fixed 😄
total of 14 cores from this chamber 😄 really nice compared to previous one that had 2 XD
jesus that's a nice chamber
jammy
14 from a chamber? jeez
The infested mine I was hitting last night when I died I'm beginning to worry there is only 1 black core in it lol
all I got was 14 skeletons
I put in 16! But also Sunken Crypts that had no doors at all 😂
Lucky you, my chambers have 2 star archers that oneshot my assland
If that got me piles of metal ingots and let me put just about every item that has a model on an item stand such as dragon tears, all flavors of cores, serpent scales, etc then I'd be very pleased with that
it was quite big one too, i did encounter only 2 1starred skely tho 🙂 game is going easy on me for once
a final finesse for everything building and item related would be nice to see
in my new world I started I found a 2 star boar very early on and tamed it, now I just need to tame a 2 star draugr and I'll have a little sasusage factory.
That would definitely be really cool. I would like to see more materials/variety of chairs, benches, tables... Potted plants, and other wall decorations
There is a mod for that 😛 Both the draugr and the deco.
Sosigs are bis when you get em
Especially if they add flowers for potted plants (now that we have vases in ashlands), wouldn't mind seeing craftable dyes using flowers for armors and capes as well.
Need to see if I can find and tame a 2 star wolf, wish I'd turned the difficulty of this map up so starred monsters were more common (if that is indeed a setting)
Run around at night.
i think it is
clearing all spawns every night should bestow the desired result
yea that's usually how I do it, it's just time
The ARK way: if it is too low level, kill it so it can respawn in a better form!
ah ARK, I certainly didn't lose obscene amounts of time from my life to that game
certainly not
I took the sideway to Conan, otherwise I would have absolutely done the same.
I played a bit of Dangly Bits The Game but it was in the very very beginning and I quickly got annoyed with it
It's a game that really relies on the modding community, vanilla can be... underwhelming.
It's a shame they don't realise that or at least act more upon it.
Bethesda didn't make it, did they? 😛
ARK on the other hand, I had a full year I rode the ole unemployment train while bouncing at a bar for cash and all I did was ARK when I wasn't working the bar or involved in bar related activities
I would say worse... but hmmm...
I'm on disability, every game that gets my attention will rake in those hours :vv:
just got on my remote desktop to check my steam ark hours
6,740.4 pretty much all of 2017 lol
500 hours for me, but 3000 in Conan and I'm not counting the hours I spent modding in the devkit 😄
lol 45 hours in conan exiles
damn my games I at most have played like 700 hours
That record stood for many years. Until someone gifted me Valheim for my birthday.
And tbf, when I first played it, I never expected it to take the lead by 1000s of hours.
eh like I said I spent a year on unemployment and I was determined to ride that shit till the wheels fell off because I got fired under petty circumstances. Never had a boss cry while firing me before but drama gonna drama
I hated it 😂
only got the job bouncing at a campus bar in Denver in the last few months but those like 8 months prior to that? Full no lifed it
Wait you hated valheim at first? Really?
Yeah, didn't enjoy it, it was not the survival experience I expected and I actually ragequit over building the first time I played.|| I am currently the most downloaded person on Valheimians...||
That's funny
I think so too 😄
when valheim first came out I had just moved what is now my ex in with me but back then she played it along with me and we both just loved the meadows music so much we'd log into the game and play the sound over the speaker system so the room was just the meadows music at like all times for weeks on end
But without mods, I would have enjoyed a nice summer with a community and never looked back I think. BuildShare and PlanBuild are what got me REALLY HOOKED. 4500 hours hooked.
a community you play with can definitely make or break a game, it's why I have such fond memories of early WoW
I first played valheim bc a couple of my friends were playing and they were encouraging me to come join. I had seen a bit of valheim footage and didn't really think it was my game, but my brother owned it and I gameshare with him so I decided to try and join them. After playing for 30 minutes my brother started to play something which kicked me off the game, but I had gotten hooked so went and bought it 😄
I just like building stuff and then making it look lived in
Oh what helped raking those hours is creating custom content for my own server.
I too have my own server but these days I'm alone on it 99% of the time
and I certainly don't make any mods for it lol
I build stuff, but it often doesn't look like anybody actually lives there.. one day I'll get back to decorating my base. one day...
I love to build but I csn't be arsed with decorating if it's just for me. But give me some players to entertain and I know no stopping... It's why I started modding Conan, I tried Valheim before but that was way out of my league back then. But same shit: having a server and wanting to add more to entertain other people. And then there is stuff you want but doesn't exist. And then there is a devkit...
I'm pretty sure I will reopen Unity now I'm more confident in this stuff. Not sure how well that will end, But hey, trying doesn't hurt.
yea that's how it usually was for me, building looks cool but the interior is sterile
the one day I put down a table with a bunch of item stands on it and put food items on the stands and put chairs down a various angles on slightly askew rugs and thought it was nice how it actually looked like someone lived there now and had magical food that never rotted lol
i build stuff and then mostly give up before going back and decorating everything
lol
not this time tho
yea that's usually what happens, there's more of an incentive to decorate if you don't play alone
I now build for other people, that is my motivvation 😄 Either my players or Valheimians.
ngl they made the Ashland experience like when me and my friend approach Black Forrest the first time
It's hard but i like it actually
often i also just go build something small different to refresh the mind in the middle of something
You know the big heavy wooden walls with metal reinforcement that surround the dverger camps in the mistlands? The ones that if you break them they drop wood and copper scrap? Can you build those yourself in the base game?
Oh, i realise now I can recreate one of my mods for Conan! It's called clutter and offers a variety of decor already put together. For admins who don't have time or player who don't want to spend time 😄
sadly not -_-
dammit
Aaaaaand there is a mod for that 😄
you can build dvergr stakewalls but they are not the same
you could spawn them in i suppose
if I switch off the Xbox insider version to the official will it mess up my game
I am currently exploring a mod that adds all vanilla prefabs to the hammer. I fucking love it.
i will need to get that mod oneday
Also, the pieces are vanilla friendly so someone without the mod can still see the stuff.
i heard about that
I uploaded 2 builds today using it.
I love it, haven't had this much fun building in like a year or so.
Minimaly, you will need to download the "live" version of ashlands. If it acts like steam PTB, there shouldn't* be much/many issues.
for me it would have made more sense for the all-new-wood set to be the dvergr one, doesnt make sense to build something burnt, new pieces looks amazing tho
<@&816961911522197514> At last the #1202313396356128808 Ashlands update is also rolling out for Xbox and Microsoft Store! We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience with this delay, but we hope you’re looking forward to playing it now! :Hugin:
"Live" ashlands should be available for Xbox now.
You are so lucky that role pings are disabled to people
you mean there shouldn't be many issues right?
I think my one bit of wish fulfillmen for this game would be them removing stamina constraints when building, it’s so annoying sometimes
YASSSS
My standard QOL admin mode has not been updated yet and it is so frustrating.
i just eat the best stamina food
AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR STAMINA REGAIN
right
Doing that, but still. Especially when you work on the terrain.
Early game lol
they could just add that to hammer mode
The best I got is meat, and my point still stands, you shouldn’t lose stamina while building
Don't think I've ever been building and had to stop for stamina unless in no resource cost mode
assuming that mode even uses stamina
did the cart get changed? i swear its easier now to drive it around with a lot of weight in it
It does
When you remove stuff and something sounds like breaking, but it isn't the piece you were aiming at...
one of the best thing of ashlands is gotta be another class of enemies joining the night wars
Unfortunately it does.
lol I know that feeling well when trying to removes stairs I used to access a spot
It wouldn’t really surprise me if they rework how food works eventually
Also fun: placing a piece that doesn't end up where you expected it, you hear it being placed, but you never figure out where it went.
why rework the food? it makes sense
Oh wow, now I remember the blue monday I played before the H&H update. And the outrage when it changed 😄
Was already reworked once, only thing I wish would change is I wish the degredation of the effect of food was lighter for say the first 80% of the time then REALLY sped up towards the end
'How does it feel'?
I hadn't died once upon that point. Oh boy, that changed very quickly,
i wish they added bukeperry pie
Old.
w h y
i can visually imagine it by reading the name lol
bukeperry pie gives you wings
I think the word you're looking for is 'timeless'. 😛
technically no flying mount so yeah
I keep telling myself that every birthday, doesn't change much 😛
I can also recall memories of fighting Yag with Grimmcore at our side.
Everyone died that day. Except me. And that still stands with me for Yag 😄
Yag was wiping the floor with me last night, or I guess more specifically the skeeters were on my run back to my corpse more that yag himself was
i hate yag
Guy regened a solid 40% of his health bar from me dying and failing to get back and reengage in time
i hate him on a personal level because designwise he's nice
How do you guys typically fight him? I was fighting him last night in melee with a lvl 1 frostner, wasn't great.
Love him 😄 It's the one fight where I am capable of the dance and win the fight. But I admit, the first time was hard, the second time was infuriating. After that it just became easy.
i just always take fenris armor and frostner, easy
lol
Yagluth rock says "Im powerful than you, fear me!" Combined with the game's difficulty increasing exponentially from it
I was in trollhide and root harness last night with the lvl 1 frostner, it was bad
Always melee, Frostner or the silver sword, attack as much as close as possible as I can, dance around a pillar, repeat, Doesn take me more than 10 min usually solo.
Haven't seen a single frost cave on this map, haven't looked hard either though
Correct.
I just got stomped wearing fenris, when i switched to full linen set turned into a mid fight
That sounds bad. But it isn't as bad as the group of players who ignored all the silver and frost arrows I made the days before and kept trying to shoot him with any other arrow. For an hour. At least.
lol I mean at least they were at range making bad decisions instead of in his face making bad decisions
That was the infuriating fight. I have YT shorts about my reactions to this. Is wasn't pretty :vv:
They still kept dying by the dozens.
I've never fought the queen before so I'm sure that'll be an experience
oh it will be believe me
Have fun with her!
be me
have maxed frostner
make extensive preparations to fight yagulth
Think of a weapon to use for the fight... discard atgeir because it sucked against moder but at least it worked...
Forgor about maxed frostner and take black metal axe instead
Whack it for half an hour and finally win...
She doesn't bite... that much
yeah
Think I started out with himmin afl against queen
I used my black metal axe the first time too because it was my only leveled weapon. What can i say, I am an axe girl...
I haven't used an atgeir since the very first time I played
anyone have an efficient base design that completely fits inside a ward?
I've barely used atgeirs either. Used them a bit when I started but never since because the secondary attack on them is so boring to use
Melee= Hardest fight ingame
Cheese= Boring fight
the other people I was playing with one was using a sword and one was using an axe and I wanted to keep up the variation so I used the atgeir
Mistlands ward?
eh 2nd hardest I'd say. Otherwise completely agree
wym, nothing more satisfying than 2 tapping 5 enemies in plains
Weapon I've used the most is daggers
ward that prevents other people from accessing your stuff
Abyssal Razor is stupid strong all the way up to plains and you can get it so early
nah not satisfying. Enemies just die like flies and never get a chance to get anywhere near you. No fun of combat in that
Get abyssal razor in Meadows age
Use it until skoll and hati 😎
Sadly no, but you can just make many of them and place strategically around your base
prob does pretty bad in mistlands though lol
well that would be because you didn't use it enough. You'd notice that it's not nearly as free win as some people seem to believe. You time your spin wrong and you'll get spears into your face or one of the goblins use that time you're flexing after a swing to whack you in the face
abyss razor? probably, usually I upgrade to a silver knife eventually but yea the abyss razor is just a god tier weapon
probably a round design
When you get 20+ Sneaky skill even you if are standing the enemies ignore you 😂
I've tried using atgeir in all the biomes. I agree it's not a free win against ranged enemies, but against melee enemies I don't think I found any (non-brute) enemies that I can't consistently keep at range with the stagger and knockback from atgeir until they're dead. Just timing the spins right and eating the right food
does hilder generate in old worlds now???
also spears in general make using atgeir significantly more challenging due to it being a slower weapon
in unexplored areas yeah, she always could?
idk its just that when hilderscame out I didnt think I could get her to swan on that old world
indeed
as for mistlands... yea Atgeir is good for clearing mines, but those dvergr? uhh... no. Getting blasted by 100% ranged enemies is not a good time
himmin afl shreds. I bet it destroys ashlands mobs too, especially with the high number of them
Dvergr you really just gotta get up close to the most dangerous ones and kill them before they can react to you attacking
Dvergr aren't much of an issue though because you choose when to make them hostile
except you're not really given a choice since they are gate keeping your progress..
I've come to really like spears and knives (and ||dual axes||) due to their fast attack speed and low stamina cost
Sadly pierce damage isn't the best
2 star fire mages
and sadly no new knife
blood knife backstabs would have been... interesting
counter offer: 2 star ICE mages
I was planning to start using knife since I never used it much, but this update has different ideas...
oh no
counter offer: 2 star mage... f those healing a holes
The ice mages have crazy damage. I think if you set it to Vhard and get a 2 star ice mage, they do 800 damage per frost projectile. And they shoot a steady stream of those...
