Well, it’s not “unusable” but it’s still a massive pain
and according to some person on this discord bringing wood from another world is cheating (I just don't like deforesting areas in the main world)
Crafting an atgeir is the worst kind of cheating
Let alone using it, why bring that monstrosity to life
❤️ you atgeir players
Cheating is a very personal and relative term.
I know, but I don't care
Spins away
Man no one told you to play the game. You are loosing a lot but ok.
Its essentially an argument of morals
My question is usually more related to challenge vs enjoyment. If you take away all of the challenge, the game loses enjoyment.
That's not an opinion bro dont act like you arent reading our messages
Being in a state of constant frustration is no fun, either.
This is getting so out of hand
put it in the easy mode
They can’t it’s a dedicated server and the host insists default settings
I agree...you have to find the right balance between the two.
That honestly no one cares about what you do in your own game considering it's your problem
This is why I laugh at the "guys is X thing cheating?" And "how does players feel about X? Cheating???" posts I see
Like are you asking us for permission to do whatever you want in YOUR OWN GAME?
So just do not play in the server xddd
Would it maybe help turning the resource rate up to 3x or spawning in some flammetal, to compensate you for a game mechanic you find unenjoyable to continue using?
i dont see the problem here
Ah server, spawning and such would be morally ambigous there
Again, don't mine, let the others do it.
You're accepting to do something you can perfectly refuse to do
Honestly I’d say it’s repeatedly telling someone just don’t play the game because they simply expressed how they feel about
What's more, instead of mining the pillar you can stay on ground and defend your teammates from approaching mobs.
You really are just frustrating yourself at that point
"I dont like it this game is trash!"
Keep playing
ahh situation
Having a discussion when you are angry and frustrated about something probably isn't the best approach. Best to just let them vent and not feed their pain.
Neither is necessary you just want to reply at that point
I have nothing better to do anyway
That’s why I was trying to offer some solutions that might help but it came off a lil more brash than I intended
I haven't even started the ashlands but these horror stories are deterring me.
Which is fair enough
Being arounded of 11 enemies its a great way to start
Flametal pillars aren't the only source of flametal...
I can handle spawns but when the game plays neener neener with resources imperative to progression...
It's not as dramatic as it sounds, tbh
That just sounds sadistic. I've never encountered a game that does that to you
How many time are playing video games?
There's a decent amount of pillars on play, and between a fully upgraded BM pick and Queen power, it's quite viable to gather plenty on your own, nevermind on a MP setting
It very usually never is, but you've been here longer than me and I'm sure you must've seen plenty of moments where people are complaining for things they essentially did to themselves
If there’s anyones msg to consider about Ashlands it’s scarlets for sure
I love Valheim. It can be frustrating, but I find I'm the source of all of my misadventures. Just take a moment and collect yourself, and try and laugh off your deaths.
Hopefully, devs will tune things down in future updates if enough people relay their frustrations.
Nooooooooooooo!
At this point I believe the next biome is going to be more painful that’s kind of the point of the game at this rate
Sounds good
Nope
Ashlands is hard as should be
Luckily the valheim devs seem rather immovable when it comes to their vision for the game
hopefully enough people will learn that there is a difficulty slider for a reason, if you are not skilled enough to complete ashlands in its current state then just change the difficulty to easy or very easy 🤷♂️
No one is going to know they can’t do that as they express how they feel lol
How do you make that portal that allows you to transport metals and how difficult is it to obtain?
Which ones?
ngl, up until Mistlands the difficulty seemed to be very stagnant between biomes, kinda peaked in swamp
I hope it is
Same tbh
Easy. 1) Select your world. 2.) Select World Modifiers. 3.) Select the portal sliders and slide it all the way to the left.
I want to struggle personally
Why
No, there's a new ashlands portal and I think it lets you take metals through it
It does
Wait.. Have they added settings so you can bring metals through portals?
Pretty pointless considering the slider
It’s cheap
there is some time
(havent played since I killed queen a long while back)
Not for the people who don’t want to “cheat”
Why not 😉
Last August I think?
Playing in the easy mode isnt cheating 😭 (i just dont want to log in another world everytime i need to get my metals to other place)
Because you knew they weren’t asking that at all 😂
That’s the “ “ part
I too prefer the challenge of no portals, but the friends I play with outnumber me.
I wish you could set difficulties and resource values for each biome. I'm fine with 1x resources and the current difficulty in other biomes. I only want to modify Ashlands.
I would agree. Its an option in settings so its an intended way to modify your gameplay. Wouldnt call it cheating at all.
I started playing in the ashlands on the PTB, on a world I already explored but where I never went to the ashlands. And I have a problem, Ashlands are here, and I have already explored this biome quite well but my map still has the previous ashlands so I can't locate myself. Does anyone have a solution to this ?
It’s not so much a challenge as it is a time loss, I was playing that mp but I’ve got too much life in the way to spend my only time gaming on travel
Is your host against importing other worlds resources?
Yeah.. annoying time waste doesnt automatically mean its a tougher challenge
I mean, I don't think so?
You're ignoring everything people are telling you, aren't you?
I admit that metal trough portals make the gameplay like 3x easier
You could always go to the Ashlands on a single player world then with say 3x rate and passive creatures. Mine your spire and then hop back to your dedicated world
most of your problems going in and back to put forge and refineries will be spared
Apparently, complaining will magically make things better suddenly...
is there a quicker way to farm than collecting every vegetable individually??
Absolutely. Hence why the sliders exist in the first place. You find the right balance between challenge and tedium to maximize your enjoyment of the game. Arguments for "they need to change the base game to make it easier (or more challenging)" seem kind of ridiculous when the options to adjust them already exist in the game.
With plains veggies you can attack them to harvest them, so something like an atgeir or 2 hand hammer helps
With other veggies, sadly not
Was this suppose to be as funny as it is?
Flax and barley specifically can be gathered by using weapon attacks once they're fully grown, but no other crop has this
can you logout cheese the flametal pillars like chitin?
*barley
barley and linen can be breaked with demolisher and atgeirs
That was fixed with this update
dang it
oof
I wonder if chitin was also fixed in terms of logging out
Fixed, thanks~
lavaiathans are smarter than normal leviathans xddd
wait, you can logout cheese the chitin?
You used to be able to in the beta, but they fixed it
want to get all the flametal i can and its annoying that the lavaiathans will sink
maybe there is a mod or something
There's a renewable source of flametal, but it will take some effort
You technically only need to mine 10 just for the battering ram.
Afterwards you get the rest from fortresses
With high pickaxe skill, lvl 4 BM pickaxe, and Queen power I was able to oneshot the deposits. Only did two flammetal pillars but getting 30+ felt like no issue to me
oh whats the renewable resource?
But technically, can I save scumm the world, harvest the chitin, logout, reset the world, and harvest the chitin again?
i also have 100 pickaxe so should be finr
Oh right, and the work station improvements.
Make it like 20
Technically yeah? That's a lot of effort at that point tho, might be easier to simply change your world modifiers to up resource rate instead
I suppose you can mine a pillar and then load a backup of the world from before you mined it, yeah?
Which you can get from a single pillar
Did yall reset your characters and worlds for this update?
True...or just devcommands.
No, but we aren't anywhere near Ashlands content yet.
You’re going to get a lot of answers both ways on that
also in your opinion is having a mod that disables death penalties cheating and if so how much, mainly did it as i really do not like losing all my equipment when i die
and i just realized im gonna need to make an askvin breeder
Yes it is, don't use it as you don't have our permission...
There is a world modifier that eliminates the death penalty now.
Just do it, who cares if it's cheating or not? It's your game...
thank god i have a mod that lets me teleport tamed entities
Reduces it to 1%*
yea and you still loose items
You use this but are worried if death mod is cheating ?
Oh...I stand corrected.
You still drop stuff on the lowest setting
im using it either way tbh i was just curious
Unless that changed yesterday
How do we get the update?
tho planteverything is goat
I really don't understand the point of asking others whether doing/enabling something or not is cheating. It's your game
If it was a MP and affects others, yes, but your own game? I don't understand
Steam should automatically update. Xbox is still in the works.
yea good point the only mp id likely do is with a friend who prob agrees with me
some scummy AAA publishers: U sure about that?
wait valheim is on xbox?
Aww ok thx. Do they have an eta for xbox?
huh
There were some issues with the update that need to be worked out...but hopefully soon... Hopefully days at most. 🤞
anyhow going back to watching youtube
Thx for replying
I was posting a joke about the Xbox ETA is 1st half of 2024...but people didn't think it was very funny. 🙁
imo, very similar to how people used to go to church and then ask for forgiveness for sins. If you need to ask, you already yourself consider it at very least questionable. Asking for somebody else in hopes of somebody just saying "nah, not cheating, just do it!" and then happily go and do it
Yeah, so the correct answer is "YES it's CHEATING! But go ahead and do it anyways."
I wish you could modify server settings on the fly without having to restart
devcommands
YOu can with devcommands...but I'm not sure if it works on dedicated servers.
I don't see settings for passive enemies and resource values and such in dev settings
"Used to"...?
"-setkey" "-removekey" for the toggles and there is another command for the sliders.
anyone else not able to long into any servers?
ResourceRate 10000000
Xbox or Steam? What does the version say?
steam
Its just a black loading screen and if I click the screen the game just crashes. My friend is having the exact same issue
wait rq valheim autosaves once every in-game day right
or am I mistaken
When you try to connect or when you first load up the client?
try to connect into a server, loading up the client works perfectly fine
Did they update the server as well?
wdym?
Are you connecting to a dedicated server, or to someone's client session?
Who is hosting the server?
Make sure they've updated their server/client to the same version as you, and if you use mods, try disabling the mods. This discussion is probably better posted in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202320491377856512 or https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202550119191412736
The screen being black sounds a bit odd, but it's normal for loading to take several minutes first time you load up since ashlands, and for it to say valheim is "not responding". In that case though, just leave the game running and eventually it loads
dunno if you have something else going on
The game normally saves once a day...so every 30 minutes when the new day is announced.
ah ok I see
How wide does a pier need to be to fit Drakkur?
super excited to play ashlands
but new update means new save so itll be a phat minute till im there
Personal preference?
It doesn't. Unless you want to.
yes
personally i cant just pick up a super late game save after a month or more break
if you break dvengr Wards with a cart will they turn hostile? Last time we tried that, it worked. Does it still work?
when is the update dropping to xbox
No ETA has been announced, but soon hopefully.
It works
When will Valheim give us armor/weapon/accessory slots?
They already do. They're just part of the general inventory. Those slots are why you can't wear multiple chest armors at the same time.
Yeah, but why would they take up inventory space if they're on our bodies?
Still dont saw any flametal or Valkyrie should i worry?
Aparently, refined eitr worked as well, not sure post ashlands update though.
??
Because that's how the game works. You have a limited inventory, you can choose what you want to put in it, wearing it or not. You don't have to even wear a full set of armor if you don't want, or carry a ton of weapons if only one or two does the job.
you can say that no matter how much space inventory you have
Why would the head of a lightning deer fit inside a wooden chest?
Why would a person be able to carry 1000 kg of weight and still move?
Why would a person also have eight different tools in their pockets and equip them almost instantly?
🤷♂️
because realism isnt fun
"Unless it agrees with MY logic"
Which is the case I see every time the "armor in backpack? What?" Topic shows up
Finally switched to magic from melee
Hazzah! Welcome brother!
It’s sooo much fun, but at the same time I miss melee 🥲
Or sister 🤣
Wooo! Thank you!
You can always go for a spell sword build
Some saucy magics with some beefy melee on the side 😉
I have mistwalker, himmnafl, and demolisher on me just in case..
Demolisher for ticks and seeker broods, or just large amounts of enemies
You usually have a ton of stamina left when you run out of eitr, so I swap between using all my magic, then to ninja melee with the atgeir, then back
Atgeir to stagger
That is true, not too much stamina but enough to fight off a few enemies
Two eitr and one stamina food, ends up pretty well balanced if you're good at avoiding being hit
Doing two eitr and hp right now, being a bit careful
Try a stamina, see how it works for you. Stamina keeps me alive much better than health, at least in the Mistlands
When it comes to magic, some people are a glass half full.
As for me, I’m a glass overflowing kinda guy 🤣
Never too much magic or eitr 😋
triple eitr all the way
Wanna pick a fight with me?
How about you talk to the 4 skellies, creeper vines and trolls I just summoned instead? 🤣
Man I can’t wait till I get my dead raiser and frost staff
Just gotta wait for that refined eitr.. 😴
Also I don’t know if it’s just me but, seeker aspic is soooo easy to make but is also so efficient
I know right, makes 2x at once, 30 minutes, great stats
How can i blunt use magic staffs?
Sadly you can’t 😛
Eh?
How can you use magic staves?
He means hit with em
Says 120 blunt dmg so i thought you can
LoL no you can’t do that 😂
Smack to the head
Fireball has mass - which equals blunt damage on hit
Staff of embers deals aoe attack, 120 blunt (explosion)
Enough eitr now but to upgrade the armor and staves will be a pain 😴
Dead raiser and magic shield = best starter staves
Just get the skill up, get enemies together in a group, have 2 eitr foods and it’ll deal great damage
Upgrading them is more 💀 and 🫧 last longer
Wait upgrading staff of prot makes it last longer???
can someone point me where to talk to someone about a crash I keep having on unmodded valheim? I have my player log and all, after ashlands update, if I get close to Ashlands it crashes my game and freezes my computer
You must both practice the time honoured technique of masterful magics:
||Trap a stone golem in a pit and shoot it full of ice crystals for fast magic upgrades.
Summon skellies in the pit with magic shield for sweet blood magic upgrades as well||
why is the game so laggy
Yup 😉
Did the update was released for Microsoft store?
Wooo!!
Not sure, I plays on steam
Lvl 4 stav lasts for 4 minutes
Which biome you in?
That’s insane.
I’m going to trap a golem soon aswell
meadows
Not to answer but I remember Terraria used to be unoptimized and lag, if you can even imagine that
Ashlands update did some stuff to the game - that might be it?
Or it could be lots of entities / stuffs spawned in for some reason
im on xbox
torturing golems with magic to get the damn trophy
Hey! I have a problem with food and that kind of thing. Someone else happens? i can´t eat anything...
Ai ai ai.
Try asking in #valheim-help with specifics on playing on Xbox with lots of lag - not sure I can help you since I play on pc
All 3 food slots empty?
Or have you eaten something previously?
yup
eat bukeperries?
That might work - or relogging maybe…
can i do anything about me not getting into my worlds?
what it say?
i use r2modman.. I think some mod is giving me problems
nothing it just doesnt load
and if i press something it asks if i want to close the game or wait
i had some.issue with my world also. i verify game files and download missing files and it worked, maybe you can try that
No not yet
Ok now who gave gjall’s aimbot
im trying to search for corrupted data on steam now
Do I need to make a new world to access Ashlands biome or does it get implemented into my current world?
worddd 😭
it gets implemented into your world, just update the game
YAY I DONT HAVE TO START MY WORLD OVER
I was running and it aimed ahead of me 😂 perfectly catching me
As long as you haven't explored any of it in your current world you should get all of it. Mileage may vary if you have.
i think unloaded places get updated
I think it's because of the rate that Surtlings used to spawn in the Ashlands and they forgot to fix it...
Heh. During the beta there were lots of discussions about enemy spawn rates. they used to be worse on the first public beta release 😉
yea they do that. Luckily it's a slow projectile so once they fire you can just head in another direction
Why did they overtune this biome so much? I'd rather have much more difficult enemies than swarms of enemies that easily overwhelm you because you decided to chop down one tree
Also I feel we should get a flametal pickaxe. Seriously, we haven't had a new one since plains
True! Also not sure if this has happened to others, do dvergrs spawn randomly in random places for anyone else?
Because there is not a new ore that requires it
They could have had one for Flametal...
What's the excuse for Jotun's Bane? It chops down trees
They do, both in the Ashlands and the Mistlands.
ok my worlds dont load when im trying to enter them
Different biomes have different quirks. Mistlands has fewer enemies but they hit a bit harder and you have to deal with mist
Ashlands mobs aren't quite as tough but there's a lot of them, and you might have to look out for lava
That said it does feel bad to me having medium difficulty everywhere I go because there's high spawn rates (compared to low difficulty in other biomes), but then around points of interest like a fort it doesn't feel much more difficult. Whereas in something like Mistlands infested mines felt like a challenge where you had to prove your worth
Fair
Although Jotun bane is now worthless considering black metal axe is enough
We could have had a pickaxe made from the legs of a seeker soldier.
JB chops down better than blackmetal tho
the axe is worthless anyway because most ashlands enemies are resistant to poison
now thei load
Technically the black metal pick is from mistlands, but I get what you're saying with it being a Plains metal
You use it to chop down trees
not necessarily
We have berserker axes now
Steam-powered hand drills when
takes more stamina to swing jotuns bane than it does a black metal axe
and jb doesnt even have that much more chop damage
That's battering ram
Viking power tools when
Can you use the battering ram on flametal deposits*
But only against mineable objects
yes
Yes, but good luck on trying that...
If the pillar is close to land it must be easier
Battering ram deals 600 pickaxe dmg and 0 chop dmg per punch.
It's the closest thing to a mining drill
Couldn't you make a ramp over the lava and it can move over it?
Catapult works much much better for flammetal mining than ram. imo though it's not really worth the effort. Just grab a pickaxe
nope
lava destroys structures
Yes. It's not impossible, but it will be trickier
but it would probably be hard to move it all around the flammetal deposit in time, and you have to build at a certain height above the lava for structures not to be destroyed (unless using flammetal pillars), so you might not be able to get the bottom flammetal
Flametal pillars
I'm just worried it will sink. I might have to use the portal/relog trick.
Don't think that works anymore
those arent destroyed?
Is it possible to mine completely through the bottom before it all sinks?
Nope.
You could use catapult for upper nodes and battering ram for lower ones
They're meant as a way to build on lava
using a catapult period for mining is troll tbh
Does catapult trigger sinking? Also, how long before it sinks?
al that effort, and it barely even does damage
yes it does
and also, roughly 25 seconds
I have no idea if the hits from siege engines trigger sink.
Hope not
how?
They could have made it a minute...
Is it possible to mine through the entire bottom in 25 seconds?
Rather than increasing the timer, they should've made the sink NOT happen if hit by siege engines
More effort, but you get more stuff. I agree. Suggest it.
25 seconds to sink?
setting up multiple catapults right with explosive charges you can strip a flammetal pillar in a few seconds. Again though, it's a lot of setup compared to just hacking away at it with a pickaxe
They already made the biome tiny. No reason for them to make flametal as limited as it is right now.
And the fact that you need flametal to build them means you essentially already went through the hassle of mining them.
Pretty much you would be now rewarded from progress
yeah i am concerned with the size of the ashlands..
Why cant we lasso the pillar over to the shore? We can lasso a ten ton golem
I think Ashlands did shrink a lot in the update due to the rock spires needing room and there needing to be a good amount of ocean between it and other biomes
What if, hear me out
The spires TEMPORARILY sank. Wait a day, they come back in the condition you left them
None if this "2bad so sad sorry the creatures attacked you"
yep once the timer triggers
Or they come back after a long time passes
Okay... a week maybe?
Can i even upgrade all my gear with that timer?
I'd love that tbh
luckily mods exist
But the period is so long that you're better off finding other pillars in the meantime
btw the max level for ashlands gear is 3? Like mistlands before ash update
What about 3 days?
One week is adequate
Yea 3 for most the gear, 2 ||for enchanted weapons||
just realized that ||dual axes|| are the best tool to chop trees
What does everyone think of the suggestion I made?
I'm so asking my friend to download that mod when it exists.
Arguably. I'd agree though, not much of a surprise that the latest game axes are the best for trees tho
So basically, treat flametal like tin. Respawns after a time. But unlike tin, they will only respawn what you missed mining the time before.
Hate it. I like the challenge of having to mine all the flammetal before the spire sinks, and waiting a week for something to happen in game feels bad to me
Tin respawns?
Aparently (?). Not sure myself.
More people = More flametal per vein or am i wrong? Also, Did The Queen's Forsaken Power Works on flametal veins?
Nope
Instead of a week, how about 3 days?
Then the O.G. post must have been talking about something else and said tin by accident. Maybe flint?
Yes, flint. That does respawn.
The first staff , is available from which zone?
Thing is, you will struggle to even mine half of the whole pillar before the sinking starts to become an immediate danger, and falling on lava is instant death. And if dying on lava is bad, recovering the tombstone is much worse.
If the flametal set protected against lava and gave you more time before the heat obliterates you, I'd hate it less, but it doesn't
Queen power works yea. With good pickaxe skill and max Blackmetal pickaxe you can oneshot veins
More people does not mean more flammetal per vein. But with more people you'd be more likely to mine all the flammetal before it sinks
I'd like flammetal armor being more resistant to lava too
So Iif you one-shot veins, can you mine the entire bottom so the spire crumbles?
Can one person with level 100 mining plus queen power make the spire crumble from the bottom by mining it all out?
Most likely
But if the pre-requisite for something to work is to have extremely high skill in something then that is a problem
It's like telling someone that life is more fun if you just travel to other countries.
Sure, let me ask airlines to gift me tickets and also cover all my expenses while abroad
im calling the squad 😈
dunno. I don't know all that much about the spires because I've only mined two so far, and they were both before the spires got changed to sink slower. Back then though I got over 30 flammetal per spire which seemed pretty good. Could prob get a good amount more now that I'm more familiar with them and they sink slower.
Can you make the top crumble by mining the bottom?
does the ||bonemaw ||drop scales? also, what are the ||charred skulls for?||
I don't think it drops scales. Although in beta I think patchnotes mentioned something about bonemaw scales which is weird because they never dropped or had any recipes
Think charred skulls are just decoration
How do you define extremely high though? It doesn’t take much investment to get towards 100, I’d say get 80+ is more like a walk to the store than a flight out of country
Most of my 400+ day playthroughs easily make it to 75 in most weapon skills 🤷♂️
High skill level is very much obtainable without grinding
I imagine that’s without using farms?
Ye just normal progression, no grinding skills at all
And I spend roughly 45-50% of my days building too which don't contribute to weapon skill level increase
Granted I also very very rarely die
+80 is extremely high
And that's assuming you almost never die in your whole playthrough. And even still, if you die at those levels, recovering them is much more tedious than in lower levels
Never die is a stretch when it’s just not dying before you do 2500 strikes, which is the worst case scenario 95-100. Making progress after 80 is lower than 2000 strikes per death
QQ - which wood items burn in ashlands vs which dont? for example, do yggvisl wood items and teleports burn?
2500 for almost max level?
How did you calculate that?
If you’re at 95 it’s 2500 hits to 100
||the patchnotes are what made me believe there were scales, thanks||
rq could we break the flametal from the bottom to make it drop like rain? (like silver and cooper)
I meant it as that’s the max amount of hits you need to do in a single life to still make progress if you die
Not 0-100
I've been asking this but nobody has answered me yet.
2500 from 0-100 seemed like a good number, I wish that would've been the case
2500 for just five more levels is painful
2500 doesn’t feel like much to me personally
I would assume not as they're attached to the pillar itself
I dont judge, bc i dont know that so the only thing i could do was reply other question related to flametal minning
For weapons with slow attack speed it definitely is
Poor atgeir users
? Atgeir is actually pretty easy to level I never struggle
Wtf is up with Ashland spawn rates??
Idk I just assumed they have slow attack speed
It has high attack speed, I was thinking greatswords and arbalests
I haven’t used one since the first couple days I played the game
Ah that makes more sense
Greatswords are tied to swords which ye helps out a lot, arbalest is complete pain tho ye
Very high isnt It? But If you get level 3 Mistlands gear isnt too hard
Oh right.
I was about to mention b-axes until I remember axes, but swords are on the same type
I mean, my First ashlands visit was hard as hell but now i kill morgens and charreds like seekers
Mistwalker
Done, you completed ashlands
im really figuring out Mistwalker is best than nidhogg level 1 or 2
tin doesnt respawn though-
do you need much iron once you get into the ashlands?
Tip: If you time it correctly, mistwalker's secondary attack can hit warriors without the warrior being in range to attack you. I've spammed killed them that way, the slow makes them struggle a lot more
more people means you can harvest more of the flammetal before the spire sinks, yeah
after some testing, spires each contain an average of 90 flammetal, similar to copper nodes
a bit, i only needed Iron for Stone cutter to build the make poetal. Most of gear are made of flametal
yo that's big, https://discordapp.com/channels/391142601740517377/1202263390056357928/1240152767230906470 this is my current fav way for warriors
Silver veins also got 90 silver ores each
Thunder nidhogg might have a use.
Secondary attacking while still keeping range and lightning procs
alright just trying to figure out what to bring
Guys quick question! did wolf used to do pierce dmg? because now it seems that they are slashing type
frostnir once again proves itself to be an invaluable tool in the ashlands tbh
its damage is entirely terrible now for sure
but its knockback makes the weapon so safe, ontop of the frost slow
I just wish the chance was dependant on the weapon's attack speed
The enchanted versions are even individual weapons they should be able to tweak the values easily
Is there a valheim roadmap as of current year? Im curious as to whats on the roadmap till full release
Himmin secondary + thunder axes? That's interesting, I keep forgetting lightning is duration-based. And the knockback is definitely helpful there
Nah
ye, very proactive strats, gonna give that mistwalker strat a shot tho
Drakkar:
30 ceramic plates
100 iron nails
50 Finewood
25 yggdrasil wood
2 Portals 1 to explore Ash and other fixed on some secure place:
20 Greydwarf eyes
40 Finewood
4 Surtling
You Will also need 10 Wood to build crafting table
No roadmap but deep north biome will be made and then it seems like a revisit to the oceans content
Gotcha thanks
I just played the game on first early access release and only knew about mistlands and ashlands being worked on from the original roadmap, so wanted to ask. seems theres one more endgame area then reworks only then
i Wonder if devs will update the other biomes content. Like Abomination and Root armor, Growth and Tar pits and Frost caves with fenrir set
I think this is a really interesting topic
Those smaller little updates are so cool I hope they add more
Just think how much root harnesk changed up progression and the strategies used in the game
fr
I was complaning: How i was playing this game without Tar and Fenris???? I starts playing like 1 month after early acess launch
Hildir was also a good add
Any word on when xbox is going to get the ashlands update?
Where is the ashlands update on Microsoft store?
is the range of the fire pit bigger after the update?
theres been a delay on microsoft store and we dont know when it will be fixed
Yea, in a group you could have 1 use that and the others do damage
the deep north is the biome Im most hyped for
I really hope we get a frost dagger called fenrir
to compliment the mistlands skol and hati
How do you build roof corners with the new Grausten Arched Roof Corners without having Holes but still getting to it look nice ?
The last Biome should at least have 1 type of all weapons and Shields ingame
It definitely and totally should.
Literally a type of every single weapon in the game. It's the very last biome after all
Cool
time to fight moder
yeah i have those
Upgraded to lvl4?
Also bonemass power
I have that too, wish me luck
If you have frostner, don’t use it.
Any other melee weapon you are probably carrying will be better
Good Luck! I believe in you!
Its good on 5th boss
Silver sword is better than Frostner in yagluth
👍🏻
Probably you’re right, we were playing with my friend and he had the sword and i used frostner
Great combo
also, isnt the silver sword better than the BM sword vs tagluth? or is the difference negligible
I called it in my portal YOGURT
max silver sword is better than max bm because of spirit damage
It’s a small difference, not worth it if you already have a frostner, and you should have a frostner by that point for seekers.
Hey hey now no pushing gear onto people. Use what you want!
anyone who cant start a world
If your game is not responding while joining a world for the first you need to wait.
I think it’s because the map texture takes a while to generate but it could be something else
bro tf 2 stone golems just aggrod onto me while im still fighting her
More to kill
oh hey a drake flew over as well
mountians fight club over here
moder as the guest of honor
challenge accepted
golems and drake are dead
did the devcommands command change? i cant find it now
now clubber that dragon
Im searching the name of a 2h mace that have an aoe
stagbreaker or the other one?
the other one
i think its called the demolisher
There is also iron sledge
i forgot that thing existed
I used it once, it’s not great
moder is dead
Stagbreaker, iron sledge, demolisher
time to turn her tears into a crafting station
I wonder how that idea came about
stuff that head with flax & barley
no clue, i question the same thing for the elder dropping the swamp key
viking lore is funky
all of the other drops and upgrades make sense. You use eikthyrs antlers to make a pickaxe, the wishbone from one of bonemasses skeletons to find ore, yagluths spirit to draw in other spirit, and the queens carapace to craft high quality materials
still no bukeperry pie recipe
dragon tears are like oil i guess, used for the higher power cooking, and spinning things
maybe. the game describes them as frozen, but giving off energy
still confused on the elder dropping the swamp key
ig he just found it
Hello i tried to close eitr refinery with blackmarble and built a cage with it. Cage was touching to refinery it was so close. And them refinery stopped producing
How are we supposed to get charcoal resin? from the description it seems like it's from trees, but I've had no luck finding it by chopping trees, I've only found it randomly after an explosion.
Greydwarves
Huh?!
You meant resin ?
I imagine they mean a new ashlands item.
Charcoal resin
It should be from trees in ashlands?
Does Flametal respawn?
So I'm just unlucky?
Idk I haven’t chopped trees there yet
Xd
I got a starred Asksvin to start taming inside a hut, I want to just hide in a hall and go get a snack, but I'm too afraid to leave it
is there any trick to finding askvins in the ashlands? i have travelled quite a bit so far, charred bones are piling up, i have defeated more then 5 morgens already but not a single askvin yet in sight
I seem to keep finding them next to lava pools
but this is anecdotal
hmm, indeed i have not travelled too much around lava pools yet
mostly coast and the woods
oil that never overheats sounds very useful
should I make the bleeding or the lightning sword
Lighting
Save the blood stones for other things, they have more uses
BRO best feeling is finding bonemass spawner without a vegvisir, literally just looking for crypts rn
I founded the fader spawner without vegvisir xd
I dunno, I find bonemass vegvisir pretty easily. Feels better to me finding Moder/Yag/Queen spawn without veg
Fader does have I think 3 spawns on a pretty small area of the map with a huge arena around the spawn, so I imagine he's easy to spot
2 or 3 spawns at least
im assuming fader is ashlands boss
harry poggers
Loving all the spoilers so far. Half the player base can't even play Ashlands yet...
why because of xbox?
Yeah.
damn
Tbh i got all the spoilers i could before playing ashlands, and nothing changed at my gameplay i would certainly search about the biome anyway
did they increase the range of the fire pit?
Does anyone have any tips for gathering mushrooms in immersive worlds?? I never seem to have enough
You could try to find a few groups of mushrooms and make paths between them
Yeah that makes a lot of sense actually, and mark them with something like a log pole
great tip. found my first one in midst of a lava field. indeed they seem to spawn around those
Yeah, that's where I found the starred ones.
If you are talking about valheim, just mark them on your map.
is the new update supposed to delete all your characters back to scratch? like they are brand new
no
No, that would be silly.
well it deleted everything back to default and my game is not even modded
all 10 characters are basic new ones now all skills/gear gone
did you use the public test beta
i updated right now
I needed some for dark wood gates. You need them for riding out with Askvins. Flametal gates are just not attainable for me right now.
i need question, can you have any mods to NPCs, i play with my friend, but we are make a lot of houses, it is empty, is there any such mod
sry for my bad english
You can ask about mods at #mods-discussion
oke, ty
anyone else cant launch his world, it loads infinitely
And ironicaly, 3-4 weeks ago, lots of things about Mistlands were hidden behind spoiler tags because "new players don't want that kind of information".
Makes me wonder what new players would think of all the Ashlands spoilers..... 🤔
Probably hate it.
Without doubt.
And without doubt we're going to see the same thing happen with Ashlands the moment we know when the Deep North is going to be released. 🤦♂️
Are the charred enemies in ashlands weak to any kind of magic?
Don't think they have any weaknesses no
Just resistant to pierce and immune to poison
Kinda dumb that the fire nation isn't weak to frost
There are some enemies that are weak to frost and lightning though
Probably to not make Frostner and Frost staff more OP than they already are
Yea. but the majority of mobs are always charred somethings
Magic especially is already very OP
How is the staff op?
Most magic is pretty OP. Frost staff OP because it does high damage and locks a target down so it can't possibly get to you. Plus you can use it at range so you never need to go into danger
Charred are weak to spirit
The frost staff projectile spread is just ridiculous even at medium range, so max effectiveness is at melee range which makes you all the more vulnerable considering you have to eat something for Eitr which is away from your stamina and health pools
interesting
Any tips to finding the elder on immersive? I just gotta get lucky dont i?
Close to melee range, but not quite melee range. You can stay just out of melee range, and stop your opponent from moving pretty much, so they can't hit you with Melee
Also it's not just frost staff, it's using all the magic stuff in combination. The shielding staff is also super powerful, and fire staff is nuts.
Mages just go brrrr
That I can get behind sure
Vegvisirs will still help you find him. Press E on one and it'll point your camera in the direction of Elder. If you're in a tomb and find a vegvisir it can be a bit disorienting, but you can take out your hammer and point a stair or some object (without building it) in the direction of Elder, and it'll keep that rotation when you exit the tomb
The only time mages go brrrr is when they move into the mountains while not wearing a cape.......
Still gonna suggest that the literal fire people be weak to ice. Hang frost weapons being op, it only makes sense
Woah thats pretty cool, thanks
There's a whole #suggestions and #suggestion-discussion channel 😉
I'm aware
Just boring having frost arrows and frostner from Mountain biome being OP in Plains, Mistlands, and Ashlands which are all later biomes. And locks you out of using other weapons unless you want to use suboptimal ones
Go vote yes
Don't use them then
I don't
Sadge. Literally makes no sense that burning enemies don't take extra damage from frost based attacks
burning?
Wouldn’t it just stop the charred burning?
Oh yea the middle of them has a bit of burning/lava doesn't it?
Yea, that's why
man ashlands has really highlighted for me just how bad dodging is as a mechanic in valheim
Animation locked for 60 frames with like 10 iframes
Skeletons are frost resistant. The neutral frost damage is a combination of the weakness fire enemies have and the resistance skeletons have.
Yea, ashlands be laggy af
Shockingly reasonable explanation
Is the Xbox update out yet?
Not yet
the waves are going so crazy that a fish ended up dead on my dock
That's always funny. sometimes they end up on the deck of our ship too
It’s not dead, it will swim away if you bring it back to water
(But eating it is much better)
Free fish! I know people make fish traps that kinda work like that.
I once had a base that was always ravaged by waves. Got like 4-5 fish everytime I walked along the coast for 15 sec right by my base
The Flametal ||SINKS||?!
||Have you ever dropped a bar of solid steel in water?||
You got it wrong
OH
That's not what I meant
Yeah, it also seems to be on a timer rather than based on the number of hits
And it doesn't appear to ever come back, so just chalk it down as yet another ludicrous thing that iron gate have done in the name of "It has to be challenging tho"
There is a difference between challenging and grindy, Valheim seems to be both, though I really wish it wasn't so grindy.
that's to say I agree.
with you, not IronGate.
Yeah, there's already plenty of challenge, the big resource in the horde attack environment where all the enemies do huge damage having a time limit to collect it from when you first hit it is just such an annoying limitation
No flesh = no liquid = no freezing
Especially because the first pillar I found I could get to when I hit it the whole squad rolled up, so all I could do was watch the pillar sink as I frantically tried to survive against the 15 dudes that had just appeared from odins bumhole
resource world modifier?
I think dropped items don't despawn near player build structures.
Things like workbenches, campfires, torches, etc. stop mobs from spawning and stops items from despawning nearby
What does that have to do with the mechanic of the pillars sinking?
Yea that really doesn't have much to do with it
Has the update introduced a new upgrade bench for magic items?
Yes
Sweet, I may have to try the skeletons once more since we can summon more.
??
If things are a little grindy for you, just increase the resource drop modifier.
In world modifiers, right? Difficulty sets the bonus or less that usual for mining.
Yeah I don't mind the grind but I do mind that the pillars never come back
How? I used the ValheimPlus mod to increase some drops, but it doesn't seem to have an option for Flametal.
Why would you use a mod for that? And especially that one?
Resource drop modifier is a vanilla setting
The vanilla game has a 3x resource rate setting
Might be able to dev command it higher?
3x is more than enough for anyone, I'd say.
Yeah
But what if I want 20 slots of flametal from one swing
Wait the game has difficulty settings?! since when?
About a year now?
August 2023
Oh was that the wrong update
No, that’s right
Not sure, but I found the settings, they weren't there when I started playing, and I usually don't take a good look the second time I do something.
I guess that is about a year isn’t it
Thanks for your help.
Eh, I was thinking it was longer, my bad.
I mean how close to a year do you need to get before it’s about
Didn't we get them when we got the Hildir update?
8+ months seems long enough
I swear rolling does not work at all
Yeah.
I love rolling it works too good imo
You mean dodge?
Rolling is an essential mechanic.
Maybe not too good but it is crazy how many things can be dodged in one roll
I prefer jumping because I can start an attack mid-jump and it’s less stamina
Its a waste of stamina when you can parry the enemies with a shield
Not every enemy can be parried
I've died in the middle of a dodge animation to the charred warriors too many times
this is why i said "when you can"
Bold of you to assume I'm carrying a shield.
I like the jump to dodge just because you can redirect half way through it
To parry you need to wait for the enemy attack, it can be faster and use less stamina to just kill the enemy with a first hit if you can.
Everything else I can dodge pretty consistently, but these buggers will 100% of the time hit me with their stupid disjointed attacks
Well, i roll many times and it worked
I dont think that’s necessarily how that sentence reads grammar wise but that’s not a discussion im into
I carried shields for a good chunk of the game, until I discovered Krom.
I literally parry all thing that can move (since i can), greydwarfs got such a fun animation XD
I love that moment when you parry and you’re both staggered. It’s just comical
Im not a native English speaker, sorry if i was rude
Ah no worries, sorry on my side as well
average Lox multiplayer experience
I've now died 5 times in the middle of a roll animation in a row to a 2 star skeleton warrior
Mostly to their stupid 2 stage hit animations which are almost identical to their standard swings
With charred warriors I roll backwards when I need to roll, avoiding the hitbox rather than going through it.
That feints huh?
Otherwise I jump over them and attack behind
Yep, they can also spin 180 degrees in the middle of a feint attack animation
resin is love resin is life
Resin is sticky
What's Heat resistance?
You last longer in lava and boiling water. Lava is still very deadly but you can jump once or twice more easily.
Is 40% more time in lava even noticable?
If you got a carapace blucker just 1v1 a warrior to learn how to parry, i did it and now im parrying 4 in a roll
Starred warriors can be too strong to parry
You can't parry a 2 star warrior
Honestly the parry window for this game is very easy.
But if you get a shield bubble you can parry everything
Yup
He hits for 200 damage through level 3 carapace armour
And even staggers me when I try to parry him with bonemass
Eh, in that case i think you need learn the timming of the dodge
The "welcome party" on ashland beach line made me shy, back to meadows.
Its kinda tricky, i dont use It for this reason.
This game’s parrying isn’t about precision like in games such as dark souls, it’s more about deciding if it’s the right thing to do or not in the situation, considering stamina costs and stagger.
Again, the dodge roll in this game is cold garbage
You're animation locked for about a second and invincible for about 1/10th of a second
It feels very forgiving when I use it, like I’m invincible for almost the whole animation
It worked Very well against morgens and Trolls for me
Good to know, now that I think about it, it's not a bad way of going about it. a decent design and a nice change of pace.
the iframes are already generous, if the game had better fps across the board you'd get even less
the invincibility is tied to your framerate?
i remember when one time i got 290 ping in solo gameplay (idk how)
Is it just me, or is the size of the Flametal door weird?
I thought parry window was always a quarter of a second??
it would be less if lag wasn't a thing
Are you saying that if you have a higher framerate, you get less invincibility because the game ties invincibility to a number of frames rather than a period of time?
You can parry a troll strike--if you got good gear. Sometimes it's about the level and quality of your shield, whether you should parry or roll.
But Rollin does give you a wide window to work with.
Since im a buckler fan i always will preffer parry instead of rolling
For every player that fought Eikthyr with fists only and no food buffs or armor. Rolling is OP on certain enemies.
With trolls I usually roll then attack a few times. If I’m not in a cave I’ll jump around them to attack more before triggering their attack.
Or if I have an atgeir I’ll just spin and stagger-lock them
Early tree cutters, lol
Trolls and fir trees seem to always be close together when I'm around.
Bro really managed to make the Eikhtyr fight hard 💀
I did it once, but still died a few times. It's really tedious though.
Anyone know offhand if/where smoke puffs can be cultivated?
Eikthyr fight isn't terrible with that setup, but definitely harder than it is with good gear and food
they cannot. Only vineberries can
It's the lack of food that made it painful. Hehe
its funny how new big Enemies got like 3x Eikhtyr health
I'd imagine it's more the lack of weapons. Even with food it takes a while taking eik down with fists
I pretty much never make an iron mace, but I think I will this run
Iron mace makes such short work of bonemass bro
Imagine if the developers allowed is to adjust the start level of boss fights. Would you do it? A 2 star electro deer suddenly seems more scary with only Meadows gear.
The Queen as a two star though....
So both fiddleheads and smoke puffs require gathering only? That's irritating
Iron mace is a bonemass destroyer
true, haven't decided if I'm gonna kill bonemass yet. I usually don't but I think I might this run
You know what, to add to that you should be able to increase the bosses to 1 star and 2 star and get their biome tier loot box for killing them
They do respawn where they grow though, same as berries and mushrooms
does anyone know whats going on with the xbox release of ashlands?
There are mods out there that can do that. Check in #mods-discussion and you'll find some common ones.
Microsoft be Microsoft is what.
spawn Eikthyr 1 2
So far all the smoke puffs I have found spawn in singles quite a ways apart or up on the ocean spires. I did get lucky and have a dverger outpost very near my landing site with lots of fiddleheads
Idk why but i feel the First 3 bosses are very easy to beat and the other 3 are just hard as hell (Moder is mid)
Oh yeah, console command away to a 2 star boss.
In single player anyway, or a direct host.
That's fun too with a group.
because the bosses and biomes are meant to get harder as you go along so it starts out easy then gets harder
lol you boil in the hotub if its in the new ashlands
I think the Bosses could be a Challenge even in the early game
Then people would just stop playing.
stone golem spawns put me at my wits end when trying to move silver off a mountain
why are there SO MANY EVERYWHERE AAAA
Bonemass was a challenge first time I played, so was Moder etc
at least with aboms i could juke through trees but these fuckers are relentless
Seeing the amount of players who've got problems with Elder and / or Bonemass, I don't think upping the first bosses would be a good idea.
being volleyball-spiked onto the mountainside is rough
In the First time i was playing i dont know bonemass were resistant against arrows XDDD nor yagluth
Were devcommands disabled with the Ashlands update?
not every game has to be giga-hardcore elden souls from front to back
Of course not.
That would be self inflicted anyway. On a standard server the boss difficulty is only affected by world modifiers.
Gotta run it in single player or direct host to make the boss itself harder.
Odd, they're not responding for me
Have you enabled the console?
they werent for me for a bit either, but after restarting they did
Just hit F5, no? Then type devcommands?
I'll try that, thanks
only works if you did the console modifier
Yes, if you've enabled console that will work.
If you removed them reinstalled it, that also may have have disabled console.
i like to kill aboms since First encounter
Where's that, sorry?
Ah, well, that would explain that then. You need to add -console to your start parameters in Steam
Ah yep, already there, just been a minute since I had to do that. I'll try the restart. Thanks.
ok
So I decided to give magic a try as method to fight the Queen.
Noticed I was short of surtling cores and knowing I need bones at some point, so decided to raid some Burial chambers.
Right now I kinda feel like a troll: "Skellies go boooom!" 😄
Makes me wonder what will happen if I exchange the fire staff for a frost staff.
XD Sorry but i always seems people like "Golems are too hard to beat" "Wth they put aboms in the swamp" But i think playing many times i just mastered the Normal-Progression. I like to see some people to try non-linear progression tho, like not killing Queen or Bonemass
Properties > General > Launch Options > then where it says advanced users etc enter: -console
How are those two things related?
golems aren't hard to beat either
Parry + Iron Mace destroys them, I agree, better than pickaxe also not as funny
imo trolls feel a bit overtuned compared to other brutes, not that I mind much. They're only slightly less damage than an abom and they do have a big weakness to pierce, but they're fast af unlike aboms/golems etc, and they have a wide reach with their stick
sword is fine, even
That's exactly the thing.
Those who complain about Golems being too hard or having problems fighting the Aboms are usually the new players.
Those who don't complain about them are the experienced players, because they know how to deal with those big things.
And somehow most or all of the experienced players have often forgotten what it's like to be a new player of a game and facing the challenges for the first time.
its okay but they are resistant to slash and pierce, will take longer with sword
less than 10 seconds
What about the players who set traps for bosses before the fight starts to give them a big edge?
half that with the mace 😛
once they stagger it's just a case of keeping dps high to keep them staggered
I don’t like how trolls somehow are 97x times as sneaky as other big ole gals, how does a barn sneak up on you so often????
DnD perks?
did they increase the radius that you catch fire around the campfire ???
1- People Struggling against Brutes is kinda funny
2- I like to see non-linear progression bc of the creativity and smart techniques
Nowadays it's because everyone is having those earplugs to play music. 😉
but that guy cleared my mind
Trap them in holes
Boss music is epic. No thanks to ear plugs except for the game.
makes sense when you consider that trollhide armour gives sneak bonus
thats what I go with for explanations too haha
their steps would literally shake the ground from a good distance, no chance yr missing that irl
I kinda Sad bc Deep North Will be the last biome but I agree with the idea of the game not needing to be an infinite content generator
Even the world isn't infinite.
The only in game monster giving me a headache are the seeker soldiers.
That loud thumping when they move is really driving me nuts sometimes.
i need you to understand that when im done beating 3 to rubble with a copper mace, i dont particularly feel like fighting another 6 in order to finish my 300 meter journey
Like, there will be a day I will stop playing Valheim
i find them tedious and the spawn rate feels overeager
or i am simply unlucky
They can be common depending on where you go, but they also respawn in the same places. You are better off not killing them at all and just trapping them in a pit where they will constantly battle all the nearby wolves and drakes
sounds dishonorable
Interacting with you guys its so Fun for me, i barely can type in english but we can still have a conversation. Now i just got me replying to myself 😶
I quite like my pet golems
the more you kill the more will spawn, so it's limiting how many more can disturb you
Look at it this way. If the devs wanted an easier game, we wouldn't have death by falling trees!
Still... happens to me....
What if they’re light on their feet though
Future Elemental Magic Farm 💀🙏
Part of the challenge of Valheim is playing smart to the obstacles it presents. Not every enemy must be fought and killed
if you play slow it already will take some time to get to deep north or ashlands, I am happy with it having an end
didn't notice any skinny track star types, but if you see any lmk xD
I’ve seen a 400lb guy walk in a trailer without making a sound
All about how you shift that weight around
oh speaking of, is there an option to reduce screenshake because my god
i will probably play on Very hard or immersive in my last time playing
i mean ive played about 20+ hours in the past 4 days and im still not out of the bronze age
ive just been building
Do both
A normal human here xd
yes house sized creatures that move silently, totally buy that
accessability options you can disable camera shake which I highly recommend
same, I'm going super slow on my current (10th) play throuigh
ah
I got like 80+ hours in a week
You can also disable motion blur and depth of field which is great
motion blur is icky
If you can control your weight when you take a step why couldn’t they?
well thats just mandatory.
have you seen the way they move? xD
Trolls basically move like ballerinas
Many people dont like It, but its kinda cinematic keep the camera shaking and motion Blur for me
Poetry in motion
Grace personified
I scare relatives in the house when I walk the stairs, and I'm a big guy.
troll tutu confirmed
You can hear every step my wife takes in the house but not mine 😂 she walks like a troll
Why does rolling not put you out when you're on fire? Have the devs never heard of stop, drop, and roll?
i like camera shake and depth of field, but i look around like im always paranoid so when motion blur is on everything looks smeared all the time
It’s just letting that weight drop that does it
The more bounce to your walk the louder the steps, and I bet some trolls sliiideeee
Praying for Deep North to have Skyrim Giant’s launch 🙏
Make this visionary guy a game developer
I Hope Odin Will be the final Boss
imagine yr house grew legs and walked down the street
Like we are getting too powerful and we will beat Odin to get more Power
did you take longship to ashlands oO
I know it can work with hopping between spires etc
It's a no cost playthrough, a combination of wooden bridges and longship
Mistlands was Fun in the First time i get in. After it was just annoying
I definitely do not recommend.
ah I see I have never done nocost
I need to feel like I earned my buildings, big part of enjoyment for me
what is no cost?
It would've probably being much less frustrating to just try finding queen than to rush ashlands
I probably farmed for over 120h for my beerhall build haha
how long did it take to get there?
Free buildings
Ah I see
its a world setting
no cost to build, you only need to unlock build crafting
What a wild concept
+30 min.
But tbh, I think I ended up starting from a side that had the mainland further from the outer ocean borders
there is some crazy world modifiers, like passive monsters for instance too
Maybe if I started in the middle it would've been better
final boss, odin challenges you to a battle of dance to gain entry to his hall
so it wasn't the perfect setup and only 30min, not bad
it probably took me longer than that, was before spire density was nerfed
you have to do the right emote on different moving pillars while dodging hugin's tutorial popups
Regardless, I don't have a shield generator, meaning that trying to build an outpost in ashlands is frustrating
Especially that in very hard, ranged charred hit hard
portal under a rock
more than 30 min, I think it was over an hour
mine about 45 I believe
Actually, my landing was just in front of a putrid hole so I have a portal up there that enemies can't reach, and I could get the molten core and grausten needed to unlock stone portals.
My effort was rewarded greatly
The game feels kinda unbalaced with world modifiers and other difficults harder or easier than default
Like or its too hard or its too easy
that was lucky, took me hours to find first hole or fortress as I didnt land in the middle, I later set sail again and made a second landing
I agree, normal is just #chefskiss
The game feels pretty balanced to me on Hard
Very hard is terrifying
A 1-starred asksvin hit me for 271 dmg
Eh hard doesnt change much, but Very hard does
And any hit from a warrior one shots me
Very Hard definitely feels unbalanced
Like there isnt an option to disable skill loss, the easier do not let your items drop when your die, this way too easy
I'm not good enough at combat to feel balanced against 2 star soldiers on hard, same as 2 star gjalls, even with good gear
the hardest death penalty just take all of you 💀
do wooden teleporters not burn in the ashlands?
some want a mode where they have to dance around a mob for several hours paper cutting it to death and find that a fun iteration of the game
They do.
That's probably the main use vs stone portals as these don't burn in ashlands
Black metal need the blast one?
Aye
How to unlock that again?
beat moder?
the big bloob?
nope, the dragon in the mountains after the blob
Nope, the big drake
oh fudge , im a bit far then yikes
weirdly enough playing on Hardcore vhard was my first time getting a skill to 100, because hardcore encouraged me not to die lol (also was playing no map no portals though so gameplay was elongated a lot)
Meadows-->Black Forest-->Swamp-->Mountain-->Plains
does anyone know the item id of the new gems?
think they're named like redgem or gemred (and then blue and green)
Prob GemRed, GemBlue, GemGreen
nope, sadly cant find it
tried typing the gem names in?
still cant find them
hm
nice
you gotta put the color after the word gemstone
A 2 star Gjall destroyed a Dvergr tower with a couple of projectiles while chasing me, the tower was made of black marble, and it didnt' stand a chance on normal, I do not want to know how destructive they are on higher difficulties.
GemStoneBlue
GemstoneRed
GemstoneGreen
moar
2 star soldiers on normal munch through marble like it's soft cheese
Seeker solders?
y
does it take a while? the portal we set up hasn't burned yet but the temporary chest i put up does
Even without stars they can destroy a lot, but with seekers I can at least subvert their attention from my buildings easily, I don't have that luxury with Gjall.
isn't that weather dependent? like if there's a meteor shower the burning rocks will likely hit an uncovered portal faster than other times
you have a bow xD
probably. does the shield generator protect from the weather?
Am I crazy or did they remove spirit damage from the Mistwalker?
doesn't do much against Gjalls, before I got the Arbalest they were a major pain, I managed to jump on the back of one, but it threw me off, the developers had thought about that tiny possibility and gave it an animation that throws you more than 10 meters away.
bro they have a weak spot underneath, you just hide under a root and plink em down, mop up the ticks and gg
anyone got a populated server itching to try out the new content na server
even without cover if you have good skill it shouldn't take more than the time it takes to reach you to kill it if you spot it from mid distance or so
How do you spot it with all the mist? I just keep hearing it and by the time I see it, it's close enough to spit that explosive shit at me
Also I have no skill with bows. And aiming is a paon.
are you really gonna make/take over a base that's chock with mist? i usually pick a non misty spot so i can see em coming from at least a bit
and wisp torches are a thing as last resort
and i really can't believe anyone who hasn't got good bow skill by the 6th biome, what have you been doing the rest of the time? xD
bro spent the first 5 biomes fishing xD
Chat I’ve just unlocked black metal and have 33 black metal to spend, I have porcupine and mountain tier stuff, what should I prioritise getting ?
ashlands still not on gamepass?
Nope
bm axe is usually top of my list, better faster wood collecting, then weapons/shield/armor, also look at anything that needs it for a workstation upgrade, like the pots and pans
Soon™
It needs to be right meow
Agreed
Is there a reason why the ashfang bow is not on my crafting list when I go to my black forge?
you not worthy
Any idea if the new ||askvin|| bed gives more comfort than the dragon one?
nope
Haha by why?
because you didn`t do || something ||
there's only 1 new item that gives extra comfort, the rest is all the same as before iirc
Which item?
||lava lamp||
PLeaseee come homeeee, yea... we got beans and baloneyyyyyy, yea
Gotcha, thank ya
I think it requires metal of some kind.
Just made splitnir the storming
Splitnir the underwhelming
Thank you, I didn’t end up seeing this before using the black metal but coincidentally I did end up crafting the pots and pans and then the black metal axe, felt like the things that made the most sense to get first
I’m always running low on fine wood so upgrading from a bronze axe will speed up the process
@strange arrow You were a WoW GM, as a paid GM for WoW?
Guild Master most likely
yea, i guess you might be right. I am thinking gm= game master/Paid Moderators for wow
Is there a way to block water from going past my walls I build?
Guild Manager not the other kind xD
Nope
Water in valheim isn't actually simulated in any way, it's just a flat plane that the weather applies waves to which just raise the water level up and down, if you dig down on land you'll find water and if you dig a separated section of water close to the shore you'll get waves in your closed off pool
Well blah, thanks
having an abomination at ur doorstep , i aint moving ahah
am I missing something or does parrying no longer give the full bonus?
blocking a greydawrf to test, blocking with a maxed wooden shield blocks 14-16 damage
Parrying the greydawrf blocks only 17-19, a far cry from the 1.5x parry bonus the item description says
I suspect that you're hitting the limit of what the greydwarf is doing damage wise
its felt very weak when trying to fight harder enemies as well, ill see if i can find something with higher damage rolls
There's some deviation in mob and player damage, they don't always do the same damage. So it could be that one hit was in the high part of the greydwards damage range and another was in the low part.
Also it only multiplies your block armor by 1.5x. Block armor (and regular armor) can reduce damage taken by 1 for each 1 point of armor, but after blocking a certain threshold of damage the armor becomes less effective, negating less than 1 damage for each 1 armor point
also for refereence, i was taking overdamage each hit
about 0.5 damage through the parry
Yeah you always take that
I do think it becomes a lot more noticeable when using bucklers though (3x parry bonus) and when fighting higher damage enemies
I can parry a greydwarf with a carapace buckler and still take 0.1 damage
usually. With high enough armor/shield you can take 0 damage
odd change
I don't get that maybe because im on xbox
Don't get what?
The bleed through i take zero
Higher block
Like the skill?
