i just make my stuff outa wood and stackt hem three high
I make them from black metal and also stack 3 high
I'm not even at the point to have that many materials to create a warehouse.
But near my workbench I did stack the chests 3 high. 😄
Also:
What's the current count on the "Ashland when?" number of posts of today?
If we actually kept a tally we'd quickly go insane
So I guess that amounts to "Too many".
By my count, it is 17 times today.
I jest, but I could also be right, who knows?!
The fact that I wholeheartedly believed you for a moment there
Imagines Scarlet Quiver asking: "Am I mad yet? Am I mad yet? Am I mad yet?"
jokes on you, Scarlet was always mad and she's content with it
this cant be right, i just searched "ashlands" in the search bar here and only one person asking when today? the search feature is surely broken
maybe once people get off work in the U.S the search functionalities will be remedied a bit?
All work and no play makes Scarlet a dull boy... 🪓
i found one of these dvergr places in mistlands, what do i do here?
Does it have a glowy blue box?
Making sure you don't aggro them.
Meaning, don't break anything.
Mark it at your map, collect enough wood for a workbench and a cart, then enter with the cart and smash a chest.
It'll hold an item you will need for mistlands.
yes component crate
ah okay thanks
Destroying that gives very valuable loot. But they will be mad... real mad. And the mages are STRONG
ah okay
also a two 1 starred mages lol
Hence why I mentioned that cart
yep im gonna go get mats for it now
My son and I played a Hammermode+ settings with easy combat and no aggro. Just so we could build huge buildings and have fun doing construction. Finished all the bosses and had a ton of fun. Now we are playing regular resources, raids are player based and all creatures attack. Still have combat lvl turned down. He has PTSD and dying really gets to him. So basically play your way, have fun with it. The game is designed to be brutal, having options is awesome. Kudos to developers!
also what do i need for breaking the ancient things?
You mean the wards?
ancient roots? if you mean those then they cant be broken
oh that is a perfect gif 😄
no the skulls n stuff
blackmetal pickaxe
okay
or seeker soldier if you find one 😄
Those skulls will need a blackmetal pickaxe to mind with.
And giving you several useful materials
It's also fun to try and learn how to fight them if you don't want to cheese it. They're not too bad once you get used to them
It's more likely they will find that Lolly first.
Kinda like a seeker in a candy store.
Almost same item you get when mining a copper node.
So smelt it and you get a copper ingot.
oh okay
a quick search says 205 results when "when ashlands" is searched give or take a fewfor answers
well the question was today and i couldnt find more than one "when ashlands" and maybe one kinda indirect mention of date 🙂
note to self: "Next time you decide to explore a swamp, bring your hoe and swamp key!
and then theres th problem of people asking in a stupidly "proper" way
Last one on the Steam Forum was yesterday, so perhaps it is slowing down a bit.
or. timezones?
perhaps school|
I'm trying to be optimistic. 😄
Using a battle axe is kinda funky. The special attack comes out super fast and staggers for low damage but the knock back is so strong it's kinda hard to follow up.
Also, doesn't always stagger from special attack it seems? Idk the formula for it but it's been a fun weapon to use so far. While usually using a bow
^ it would be great of the knock back pushed them back at perfect swing length. Sadly, you tend to walk to get back in range :/
Odd.
Skellies don't have ears, but they got 20/20 hearing......
Good enough to even hear an approaching arrow
Yeah that was the plan... That first swing takes forever to come out I sometimes don't even get the chance to hit on stagger
I was thinking the same about deathsquitoes but it turns out mosquitoes have ears.
Blobs have great awareness too...without having ears OR eyes
Yep, did this yesterday. 🤣
Perhaps blobs react to vibrations?
Making the note or forgetting both items?
You can do a forward somersault
Do the vegisaurus sign thingies always point to the same boss location, or perhaps just to the one closest to them?
The one closest to them
Blobs are vikitaxic...they move towards greater concentrations of bada$$ness...
As long as they move within range of my swinging mace, I'm pleased to see them. 😄
I got the feeling those muddy scrap piles are actually hidden dimensional portals.
Or are working similar as the magician's hat.
Just mined a piece of a cubic centimeter and it held a whole 10kg scrap iron.
hi grimmcore
LOL.
I think I encountered an elite body pile here.
So far it spawned 7 elites, 4 single star archers, 6 single star melee draugrs and now a 2 star draugr archer.
And there's elite #8.
I sure as heck hope one of them dropped a trophy.
Oorah! One of them did. 😄
I am pretty sure Grimmcore won't see your message mate 🤔
😮
it's 9:30pm in sweden right now. and we don't work this late
24/7 u are working! 😛
well. I am diffrent
Using Discord as your alarm clock?
Yeah, that would make sleeping pretty complicated
oh so i shouldnt tell everyone to ping you?? 😛
I'm already informed
@near furnace
@ .....
Wait, we're pinging @near furnace?
please dont ping @near furnace 😎
@.. @ .. choo
Is that a good weapon to defeat The Queen?
no
Damn
Where was that cat when I was fighting that army of Draugr elites?
out fighting the real enemy
IC.
Glad it did, otherwise it could've stolen that Draugr Elite trophy from me.
oh 100%
Hello im new just here listening to moon and nightspirit and messing around in Valheim.
welcome 😄
welcome Mykell
Ty ty i have been playing Valheim since before hearth update and I recent started playing again. Been building this world for a few months, how is everyone?
such lovely words from you Mykell 🙂 we are doing great i'd say \o/
just maybe a bit anxious from the waiting for ashlands 😄 but all and all pretty well i think
I haven't made it to the Mistlands i beat Moder and have been collecting and farming building roads on islands
😂
When your large building project makes a lot of progress, but it looks more and more like a construction site
Kinda ends up looking like that for me when I first build everything important that I will not make compromises on, then later fill in the gaps with whatever fits there

thank you 😄 i nearly forgor XD
I gotchu homie
wait there is no silver atgeir right?
nope there is not 🙂
nope
okay
I just fell off my build and died 🤦♂️
I think everyone's done that at least once.
if there's no blood on those floorboards, it's not a proper building
Yeah that's the #2 welcome to Valheim death reason after "a tree fell on me".
There's also "I was making food and then I died".
welp, I'm still only 5ish days post-download, so figures I'm still having these moments
wait what
My shortest corpse run was 2 metres or something.
is there a trick to get around the building height limit?
many
Don't build as high. :p
Or build lower?
that is a really sad way to live
there is still a limit... but you can only push the limit higher
You can use trees as "ground".
are you thinking that I'm talking about the world height?
The top of a tree counts as ground level for stability calculations,
oh damn that';s interesting
stone pillars in plains also good for high buildings
Of course, if the tree is cut down somehow the building atop it will also fall down.
also having heavy materials at bottom of your structure and lighter stuff at the top allows you to build higher, such as stone walls at bottom and wooden walls on top of it
I see screenshots of impossible buildings in the building-screenshots chat
That is how I build watch towers without spending iron
If you want to go beyond the "proper vanilla" (but available with the vanilla version of the game) stuff you can spawn in floating rocks with devcommands that will count as ground.
Otherwise there's probably mods that will let you build as high as you want.
that makes sense
I'm sad. I really wanted to make some ice crown type castles in vanilla
I think the highest you can build without devcommands is some 130 metres or so.
8m raised ground + pine tree + as tall as you can build with wood iron beams supporting stuff.
130 metres is a guess based on what I vaguely remember of heigths, don't take that as a correct number. But it's not way off at least.
technically you could get extra meters by lowering the ground around the stucture
i guess you can make it 16 metres by digging around the raised ground.
at least in theory, but the ground will be quite uneven if it's all dug out
yeah but it can look decent enough if you re-grass it afterwards.
do you mean wood iron beams? I haven't unlocked any recipes for pure iron beams
wood iron
iron wood
I hate that my brain hasn't adapted to the idea of using the hoe for more than just building yet.
wood iron.
wood silver
silverwood
Blackwood
wood black
Forgot the key
Guys the devs came to me through a dream....they said Ashlands will be out ...soon...then i woke up.
I am going to the worlds top psychic to interpret this dream...
😤 I smell ash
looking for vonnila server
Have you tried https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 ?
if i make a world now and just stay out of the ashlands will the update bork some of the map/structures or will it only change ashlands area? i cant quite make out the answer from the devlog
It’ll only change ashlands, you’re fine to make a world now
wooo tyty
That sounds like an amazing idea for decoration pieces
like someone else said, just stay out of the incomplete zones like deepnorth and ashlands
overhoarding iron is real
me and my friend hauled a boat load of iron from a swamp, full iron in boat and we both carry max iron in self too
took me 3-4 in game days to smelt all of it, with 5 smelter
now we had like 600+ iron, with no way to spend them all
all iron swamp-tier gear fully upgraded and builds for one person will run you like 1000 iron
factor in some mistlands stuff takes iron too, there's plenty of places to spend it
EDIT: got the numbers wrong, corrections in bold italics
plus you can throw in however many spares of things you want to make from iron nails, like armour stands, longships, various furniture
600 iron is enough for a small-sized castle. If you don't get too fancy and only use it for stabilization and not decoration too.
Otherwise it's back to the swamps.
just barely got iron, used stagbreaker trick to unlock silver before bonemass. Is this considered cheating?
Up to the player. I wouldn't say its particularly cheaty
A lot of people try to skip all the bosses, using different tricks to circumvent them whether a bit glitchy/exploity or not
I would call this "sequence breaking" but I wouldn't consider it cheating.
i see i see thank you all
Whoever told me to make a mace, thank you so much. Imo, it's far superior to the axe. I was using that because its damage stats looked a little better on paper, and it's nice to have a 2-in-1 tool, but that does not make up for how slow it is ._.
Yeah, raw damage isn't everything when other important stats are involved. Take knives for example. Low damage compared to other weapons but the high attack speed more than makes up for it.
especially when you're trying to sneak hits in between enemy attacks
All of my friends hate no map
Avid GPS users eh?
YPS, Yggdrasil Positioning System
I’ve got an honest question here: why isn’t the seemingly entirely functional turf roof buildable outside of devcommands yet?
The what now
Done.
Huh
When you say buildable with devcommands, is it from the hammer menu or just a spawnable?
It’s just a 26* roof and peak right now, but to my understanding it’s been there for a good while without any further implementation.
Spawnable. Spawn turf_roof, spawn turf_roof_top.
I’d assume it’s low on the priorities list, but I’d also assume it wouldn’t be hard to implement unless there’s some fancy mechanic planned for it, considering it’d be otherwise identical functionally to thatch.
With spawnables it could go either way, really
It's either a world spawn thing we're not meant to build, or an in-progress piece that might be tweaked further and released with the next biomes
From the color it looks like it's an environmental piece from inside infested dungeons, maybe? Hard to tell from your screenie~
Posted another one that's hopefully clearer. It looks like a proper Scandinavian turf roof, and has identical dimensions and underside pieces as thatch.
Add onto that the real history and identifiable aesthetic behind turf roofs in Northern Europe, and it's certainly got the vibes of a piece that's supposed to be buildable, for whatever that's worth.
added my own
They do really look the part, huh
I hope they're implemented at some point~
😦 they say it’s unplayable. I love the stress of it. I think it’s a fun brain work out.
some of us are just spatially challenged. I honestly get lost even with a map in games sometimes. This one is no exception.
Gods I would be so lost without a map
My utmost respect for those who can play nomap but I could never~
Fair enough
I love it, the challenge is really fulfilling. I guess I can understand why people hate it
my friends want to play on 1.5x resource drops. I think they're nuts.
I like 1.5x for casual runs if I have little time to play
that's probably why they do it. they don't have a ton of free time
But my main world prepped for ashlands is all default settings
but they don't actually admit it. They just say the developers push out the game time to make more money. I have no idea why they would believe that.
@halcyon blade is this a bug or are you straight up writing an essay right now?
it says you've been typing on and off for like 5 minutes
I'm very bad at deciding exactly what I want to say, so I sit forever adjusting my messages a lot of times.
fair enough
you guys starting over for ashlands?
I don't know what that is, so I probably don't have to
I usually bump it to 1.5x as well. I feel like it doesn't eliminate the grind when you need to gather resources, but limits it so that I'm not spending all day just gathering stuff.
2x feels like it's too much...probably later on, we could reduce it to 1x.
it definitely feels grindy trying to build a castle.
Over building is definitely grindy.
yeah this isn't minecraft...
They made a mode for that...
that isn't a good compromise when you want your builds and your survival stuff in the same world
How far have you progressed? Because it seemed after a certain point getting stone was pretty easy and I had it piling up everywhere.
I'm on iron tools
But then again, I'm not building a giant castle 🙃
yeah, I've used like 600 stone so far, and I'm not even 20% done.
well kinda yeah
it takes a long time to get stone
also you can't build very high without blowing iron
If you've got a black forge you can substitute copper, at least vertically
never heard of a black forge
You'll get it eventually 😉 It's a Mistlands crafting station.
damn regular areas are already misty, mistlands must be made of mist.
The big rocks in the Meadows are pretty easy to mine for stone, as well as those in the Black Forest.
Quite literally, yes 😉 It's the biggest complaint a lot of people have about it. But if you're still in the Swamps you've got 3 more Forsaken to defeat until you're ready for it
lmfao
I kind of can't believe how humongous this game is.
Yup. And they've still got two more biomes they're going to release.
is it leaving early access after that?
Ideally, yes. Ashlands, Deep North, maybe Oceans and some other cleanup/tweaks, and that'll be full release
Im so tired of mining crypts for scrap iron man. Can I still get a decent amount of scrap iron from mining scrap iron piles on the surface swamp with a wishbone?
Is mistlanda after plains?
I would get most of my rocks from mining copper nodes and killing dwarves.
Havent progressed in the game for a couple irl days now because i just get so turned off and burnt out from hauling and mining scrap iron
what is bronze good for after you stop using bronze tools?
I just play for 5 mins and mine a bit then hop off
It's not gonna be used for a while, but it has some uses really late game although you don't need a ton unless you like decorating and building
I do like decorating and building
Then it'll be quite nice to have once you reach the last current biome
Other than that though there's not much use. The next metal you find you better stock up on though, because that's used for a ton throughout the game
do you hang onto 10 stacks or however much a longship holds before you take it all home?
When you play in hardcore mode and die, you use it to replace all your tools if you haven't progressed that far.
makes sense
indeed
hardcore mode in this game would be absolutely terrifying
I'm definitely going to do it when I replay the game.
It is quite terrifying, especially paired with higher difficulty too
I love when games make me feel like I'm damn near risking my life
idk about you guys, but valheim reminds me a lot of subnautica
the deathrun mod for subnautica was like that for me. I loved it.
the core gameplay loops are very similar. Explore -> gather -> build -> craft -> explore
valheim is just a lot more combat focused
Depending on how many crypts I find. But I just seem cant get enough scrap iron. Currently mining for more to upgrade my padded armor rn
And then the blast furance also costs a crap ton to build
I don't know how much scrap you actually need, but I cleared 3 crypts in the first swamp I ran into, and it dropped like 260 scrap in aggregate.
Howw. I keep getting only 30-50 scraps per crypt
damn that's really unlucky
The muddy piles barely drop any scrap iron lmao
the crypts I went in were just loaded and really long. I saw a chest that had a full stack in it once. it was wild.
I must've mined 30 or 40 scrap piles
I've been seeing around 50-60 scrap per crypt...but some have a lot more, some a lot less. It really is RNG.
That is at 1.5x too...keep in mind.
My crypts dont really branch off and I usually just find amber, bones, etc in the chests but rarely any scrap iron
I feel like on normal I 2.5-3.5 ish stacks. But it's been a while
I'm at 1x resources, and the 3rd crypt I went into dropped like 190 of that total scrap.
it was an absolute jackpot.
Yeah...it really is RNG. My first crypt had zero scrap. The 2nd one had like 3 stacks, the 3rd one had like 16 total. It really is RNG.
Make sure to dig out all the mud piles...even the little bits.
I just got really bad luck i guess. Even on the way home I have to row all the way back to my base because the wind is usually against me lol
🤣 I swear they designed it this way.
Have you tried taching upwind?
What is taching
I've profited in multiplayer by going through crypts others cleared out. So many extra small bits of scrap piles get left behind and it adds up, especially across multiple crypts.
Is rowing on a longboat slower than rowing on a karve?
You kind of head in the directino you want to go, as much as the wind will allow, and then you turn 90 degrees towards the deadspot, so you aren't every going directly but kind of slightly off to it. It's more like 110 degrees...
I tried hauling it all in a cart across the swamp with trash gear and berries/mushrooms/venison, and I died like 15 times just trying to get it all back. Lost the cart, had to run individual stacks naked back to my hideout.
I'm sure there is a video on youtube about taching.
there are multiplayer servers?
Like sailing in zigzag to where you’re barely riding on the wind?
I have a short attention span so I would most likely be alt tabbed scrolling and by the time i alt tab back into the game my boat would probably be aground lmao
Basically any player can host a server - but internet speed etc is a factor in how well you can host
well, yeah I know you can host a server, but I thought they meant that there were public, dedicated servers
I don't htink there are any public servers hosted by Irongate. But there may be public servers hosted by 3rd parties.
Yeeeeeah no.
Some 3rd party companies host that sort of thing for money, but iron gate hosts no “official” server that everyone can play on
well yeah, I know. I thought you meant 3rd party servers lmfao
when you say "for money" you don't mean they have microtransactions or pay walls do you?
THe 3rd party is usually someone playing on that server 😉
There's companies that will host the server for you, so people pay them to run the server. Like renting a Uhaul (moving truck) instead of using your own car to move.
isn't that a pretty well known thing?
But technically if you have a computer, and you have an internet connection, you can setup your own server (drive your own car).
yeah I want to make a server with my 2nd pc, but I'm struggling to figure out the PSU cable situation, and I don't want to buy another one
PSU?
power supply unit
the wattage is enough, but I need particular ports that it doesn't have enough of
AH. Yeah, if it's going to be online all the time you probably want it plugged in.
lmfao, you can't use a computer without a psu
Pc not laptop 😂
nope, laptops need them too
Don’t run a server on a laptop pls 😅
you have an internal PSU that takes power from your battery, and an either internal or external psu for charging your battery.
But laptop has built in battery, so technically it can work without one.
For a little bit 😂
The battery is part of the PSU.
Aaaah I see where you’re going with this
Some laptops won't work without a battery installed. Just depends on the laptop.
at best, they won't function correctly, at worst, they'll burn.
In any case, if you can't get power to the computer, it's pretty much dead in the water, Jim.
I'm mulling over just shoving the graphics card power cables into the peripheral ports, but I don't know how badly that's going to end xd
Like...pushing them out of the way? Or plugging things into them that aren't meant to be plugged into them?
the latter
Probably not a good idea.
If the power requirements match, but usually the ports are rather specific for what they are made for.
right
And the more adapters you add, the more likely it will fail.
well, I don't have to add any adapters
I just had to move the safety levers a few millimeters off center
maybe I'll just run it without a gpu and see how it works. my understanding is that gpu's aren't super necessary for servers
Just a headsup, you don't really need a GPU to run the server.
Since you aren't rendering anything...
right
but damn I wish I had a reason to use my old 1080 TI
feels like a waste dropping it for 200$ or letting it sit around
GPUs are like cars...they depreciate in value every year.
onions are like ogres, onions have layers, ogres have layers
Unless a server is doing some advanced tech like packaging shaders for players to load dynamically, there is never a situation where a server needs a GPU. Valheim could run with a: motherboard + ram + cpu + psu + a tiny amount of storage and an 8GB install of linux
I wouldn't recommend powering PC components externally
idk where you got the idea the that I was doing that
From the message that I quoted
I was talking about peripheral ports on the psu
Are they called that? It sounded like the peripheral ports on your motherboard or second pc
yeah, sorry they're called that on my psu
they all have labels CPU, peripherals, motherboard thingy
Don't multi card PCs use the links and they sharew power?
Or is it that they need a connection to the psu on each one
I believe so
I ran SLI 970's like 10 years ago, but I don't remember much about the setup.
my problem is that there's only 1 port on the entire PSU panel that says CPU, and it's an 8-pin connector. the rest of them are peripherals like storage devices, as well as fans and lighting.
also there are a few vga ports
idk what those are tbh
So the PSU came with only integrated graphics in mind?
I guess so
Outdated and partially cursed display ports
I mean, this is an over 10 year old 750w EVGA power supply unit
Could you just buy a new PSU for like 120$ and hold onto this other one for a dedicated valheim server or something?
hmm yeah maybe
because then you could stick a good enough ryzen in with integrated graphics and just run a basic ubuntu install for server stuff, or just run a barbones fedora server or whatever
yeah, the thing is
the whole point of this pc was that I already had parts for it. I wanted a budget machine
I had the motherboard, storage, memory, and gpu
and... psu, but that one's iffy apparently
I just had to get a case and a cpu fan
I don't want to actually buy a whole new computer
You might have to take the loss on the PSU and get a new one then
that's where I'm headed
That's what I would do, it's 100x worse to break a part
it's 100x worse to break the most dangerous part in your pc lol
could brick your entire system in a worst case scenario
I am still sad I broke my motherboard GPU slot when upgrading my CPU and then had to throw down another 150$ for a new one. It was already a crazy tight budget and I had basically broken my PC
dude one time I broke my motherboard by tightening the cpu fan screws too hard.
it took me weeks to figure out that was what happened
I didn't hit the release clip good enough on the slot and tugged too much and the slot stopped working even though it looked totally fine
I also bent a pin on a motherboard once, thankfully I bent it back and amazon didn't notice when I returned it 💀
oh so the pcie slot got pulled off the board just enough to disconnect it?
Yeah like the tiniest bit, but you couldn't see it at all
and the slot felt fine and everything, but the second slot wouldn't work at all either so I just had to get a new board
pc gaming has been such a rollercoaster since I started at 13 years old
I asked my dad for a gaming computer and gifted me a dell xps 8700. It had a gtx 645.
I swapped part after part of that computer until there was nothing left of the original
I still have the processor though
i7-4770 was a kicker. That's what I'm putting in my alt build
I bought a processor for 75 that I could barely get 15 for today
My first build cost me about five hundred and I went through like five machines since. I have an Acer aspire I picked up for 199 like ten years ago and did two ram upgrades on it.
i am pained to know that in my seed, i have to get through a huge swath of plains to get to mountains, or have to sail to either almost end of the world to see mountains bordering anything remotely safe
Time to snipe fulings then
my mans out here training like Goku for ashlands
Goku can't snipe though
there must be some mountain with safety somewhere, but yeah might not be closeby
is there anyway i can go to really old saves of my world
C:\Users\whoever you are\AppData\LocalLow\IronGate\Valheim\worlds_local
maybe try there?
Worlds then? Not Local
yea these are older
I love this game! I have been playing other games prior to this game and those games have a lot of replay value. But i started playing this game and can't switch back to my other games anymore because of how much i want to play this game. But I'm really worried that this game doesn't have the value of replaying although the random world generation helps. But what plans if any do the devs have to give the game more replay value?
You what it's the most replayable game ever
i can't get any of my friends to start fresh and play a new world with me, so how is it the most replayable game ever?
You play solo? Nomap? No portal? Max difficulty? Hammermode?
What does your friends not even being willing to try have to do with Valheims replay value?
we'll see how that talk goes when i try to convince them to start over.
But...why must you play with them?
please forgive the slight about the replay value. I am more concerned with learning about plans for more replay value. if there isn't any, then i would know what to expect if you knew something i don't...
i don't have to but who else gonna join me if it isn't them?
It's a solo game first and foremost, with an co-op OPTION ^^
My point is that the game already has a ton of replay value, but if your friends aren't willing to even give it a go it doesn't matter how much it has because they're never going to see it
Not that i'd complain about adding more mind you
it does in my opinion, clearly yours too, but I wish there was some mention by the devs to do updates after the final release to add on such as more action in the ocean lol
It's literally being discussed in #general atm
thanks lol
There won't be more after the final update, but the stuff that's not finished yet will of course be done before they're finished (ref. ocean stuff).
It's a single player game with a definite end, not an endless-stream-of-content live service game.
Replayability comes by virtue of the game being enjoyable, and that you can play in different ways.
I love the co-op option being available! Just wish I could find some others willing to start over with me with a world-dedicated character and no porting-in items. lol
Isn't that what the servers-and-lfg channel is for in this discord? I haven't used it, but looking through the channel it seems many people are starting new worlds and are looking for likeminded.

I want
😤
then make some 😄
no irl cauldron 😔
You can ask @light moat how it is done 😄
ain't no way bruh
Just some boiled down blueberries and raspberries really 🙂
What more is real queens jam? 🤔
🧐
Maybe if I picked the berries myself instead of buying them from a market lol
or grow them yourself
i hate that you can't
I have to fight off greydwarves and trolls as well to make it truly the best queens jam
I use plant everything mod 😤😤😤
I want vineyard
But for berries
I'm not too sure why we can't grow them, I can go plant a seed in my backyard and grow a berry bush 😤😤😤😤 let me do it ingame
A fruit garden
As distinct from an orchard
The reason is to force us to forage rather than just hunkering down in our bases.
sounds like they want me to be abused by grey dwarfs 24/7
just kill them?
NEVER, I'd have to bring 3 swords to keep up with all of them
This is also the reason a fibre-optic cable network will never be installed in Valheim.
do you use mods that raise spawn rates?
you don't get almost constant spawns in the black forest?
i mean... no? like every minute or two few greydwarfs find me if i mine or something, but thats hardly large amount i would need 3 swords to fight, unless you go there only in night
no clue when night is 😭 my game is always bright
how?
magic 😉 I hate not being able to see
Noooooooo!!!
so mods i assume?
yeah
well there you go, that might be the cause 😄
night does...
I get what you're saying
Sometimes a group spawns when you're in the BF and just start to trickle closer so it might seem like constant spawns
yeah I can see the groups spawning in but they pretty good much b-line to me
ig it's all the
I have 😔 they can't resist 😔
Queens Jam is one of my favorite foods in the game 😁
it's the best, same for
Will probably refrain from making IRL sausage… at least with the same ingredients in Valheim lol
blood sausage isn't that bad 👀
Blood sausage is actually really good
Acquired taste I think, "luckily" had a lot of it in school, so I don't mind it.. along with carrots, bacon and lingonberry 😄
I'd drink
irl
Idk about other cultures but latino morcilla is awesome
It's just sausage but better
what's the black birds same? @lusty crescent
can I turn him into soup
nope
why not , I don't want his help
you can turn off his hints i believe
it's not the same, I can't hate him if I can't see him
then dont hate him 😄
Playing solo I reset his hints all the time
Just to stop being lonely 😔
same
that's wild bruh
spawn Hugin_Test
oh well at least when i play with the same char i reset them
problem solved 😄
does that turn him into soup
Does that spawn him?
Imma make him a castle if this is so
does anyone have a sound clip of the berserker laugh ?
Incredible
Thank you
can I make this test spot permanent and in a hot tub
I'd love to have him in the hot tub all day 👀 if the game isn't spaghetti code I could make a mod for it
pssst dev, do you have an audio clip of the fuling berserker laugh thing?
i cant find it anywhere and i wanna freak out my friend lol
oh. sadly I don't why?
you want it in our soundboard? 😄
OOO YEAH
can't find it atm :/
cries violently
I will have to get back on you on that one
do you know anywhere that may have it? ive tried yt and the wiki
spawn one in godmode and record it?
there would almost certainly be some issues with that, such as all kind of unrelated noise
ya im after the raw audio track
Hey, quick question. Does hitting two pieces of wood, or 2 enemies at once double exp. Or is it the swing alone that does it?
It does not double
Only fun intreaction is that if you hit a tree and an enemy at once you get both axe and woodcutting skill, but I think you get half the normal amount
not really double but some skills have bonus when hitting multiple targets, more here https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Skills
"Weapons get the same experience regardless of the amount of targets, the only exception being axes when hitting a creature and a tree at the same time."?
Dang. Thanks for the info. The reason I asked. I only swung 106 times to get level 45. By the math it should have been 151. If I did the math correctly
I think you get woodcutting + axes or something
did you count in that each hit gives 1.5 xp?
I would think that pickaxes could do the same but maybe it's because of how the tree exists
for axes, not woodcutting\
I have it
THANK YOU. Missed that part. So I have been calculating for swings, not XP. If 1 swing is 1.5 XP, then the math works. I don't know if it was exactly 106, but it was near that number, so I'll chalk that up to counting error.
That was the missing link. Y'all are awesome. Thanks again.
I lied, I think it has a sus name like most things in the game. I think I found everything but the berserker XD
should be "GoblinBrute" something i believe 😄
You would think, I basically just skimmed the entire db and it's just not there
Found fulings and the classic HEUH HAH
i would assume it would be something with that name as it is the internal id 🤔 but i never looked for it so what do i know 😄
There is a large mismatch between audio files and the actual models and code in like all games
The audio could be from a pack somewhere or was made by a freelancer when the design spec was completely different from when the visual artist made it which is then probably different to the script that the dev made when they conceptualized it
Like I remember working on something where the dev named it dandelion and then the visual artist was like "the theme isn't working" so then they art is called snowball and then by the time I got my hands on it, they were advertising it as snowglobe and then I had to make the concious decision to just all the audio files dandelion again XD
Obviously, the best time to start raining is when you're building pillars for a roof and stop raining when you finish building a roof
can't seem to be able to build anything without dipping it a little bit in moisture
It is just me or with new patch, attacks follow camera orientation and not player position?
I've not noticed anything, but I've also not tried to attack something while looking at my own face.
thats been a thing for quite a while i believe, 100% before the last patch
Oh damn son, either way big ups
either way big ups
This has my award for 'entirely comprehensible, but logically impossible' phrase of the day. 😛
turns out cutting wood is very efficient way to hunt fulings at night
almost got a full stack from 1 night of cutting wood
Hello Everyone! Someone knows how to enable vulkan on Valheim from Microsoft store?
A full stack of wood in just one night? gasp
it's very shiny wood
Black metal might be the most abundant item in the game once you've killed Yagluth.
well problem is I'm having a break from progressing so I can setup my base in plains
want to continue once I've setup all the necessssary stuff
I'm trying to find the ideal place for a plains base. Not sure what I wanna do yet. There are two giant stone pillars next to each other so I kinda wanna make the twin towers
Is this going to be your main base?
luckily there's no planes. It will be invincible
I have many bases... No portals lol
yeaa, that will be necessary when got no portals
basically 1 base for every island you plan to stay on more than a few days, at least something simple
No planes in the plains lol. Only worry is if the stone pillar gets broken by a raid or something. But I think it'll hold if I surround it with stone. Gonna take a ton of time
If you're going no portals, I'd suggest finding a point that borders meadows/black-forest, plains, and mistlands, so you can build a broadly efficient farm.
Wouldn't you just need a plains/Mistlands border? Everything before Mistlands crops can grow in the plains no problem
Sure, if that's possible, it's much simpler.
Excellent idea for a farm base tho, two biomes at once~
I also like that we can use the cultivator and place grass to find the exact border of the biomes.
hmm... for sure not bad at all. I placed my main base in plains because well.. I like the look of it, and found really damn nice island. It's pretty large, but it's small enough to conquer it fully (spawn protection), and it kind of has thin land bridge to larger area in plains, very easy to secure that and make proper bridges
and it's close to everything in general
also great water access to 3 directions, the way to the right is blocked by long ass island so way back to the spawn is longer... but it's not like I'd want to sail back there anyway
What about roots?
Roots?
you cant grow roots
hello
Onion, garlic, ginger, yams, fennel, tumeric, ginseng...
But no ancient from them, only young)
only one of those is in valheim, and onion isnt a root, its a kind of a stem... (proper name would be "tunicated bulb")
do you guys play anything besides valheim I see you here all the time lol
I don't play Valheim. I just come here to play 'Devil's Advocate' and be a polemicist.
It's kinda exhausting familiarising myself with the game via the Wiki, to be honest.
interesting
In my spare time, I like Minesweeper and the occasional game of Mahjong.
What happens if I don't?
Onions, carrots and turnips are all roots
yeah it really needs to get patched soon
same people keep winning, they must have game-sharks or something.
pay to win bs
too many microtransactions, imo
Well in that case, that makes you the perfect person to answer this question:
Why do people consider Valheim to be "grindy"?
I don't think it is, so does that mean I'm playing the game wrong or does it mean they are?
I regret getting the high school dlc
They never tell you growing up that you'll be spending money every single day as an adult just living...
Have you tried the Therapy DLC tho? It's a bit spendy, but i think it makes up for the HS DLC.
Therapy dlc ain't worth it either
Im looking into the college dlc rn
maybe your machine just can't run it--might want to consider upgrading.
I shouldnt have picked the coffee loving attribute, what a money drain
I should have dumped more points into Int.
Ill do that when I level up asap
It must be incompatible with my version. Spent way too long trying to install updates and got nowhere. Disk write errors, uninstalled, did the travel dlc instead
Actually pushes up glasses 😛 , I think it's an arfefact of the game being in early access. The grind arises when we've progressed as far as we can, and we're just exploring, building, cooking, and farming waiting for the next biome.
Valheim might just be a solid survival game with about (guessing) 40-60 hrs of gameplay if it were complete. But, as it is, we love the game, and grind while waiting for something more interesting.
Therapy is like school, you get value out of it relative to the energy and work you put into it
But that's better for #general 😉
I find it helps with the companion Mod
that analogy implies everyone has the same base game (and hardware?), they are not. Therapy could be like a mod, which helps with weak or otherwise impaired hardware
I've found that a lot of the people complaining about the grind are the same people that want skill drops to not happen, and make farms to grind up their various skills and such. There's a bit of grind in some of the resources, but the biggest places that occurs are during the initial introduction of various mechanics in the game and so it makes sure you get the technique down and spend time figuring out all the details around it.
I guess that may mean that my definition of grinding and that of others may differ.
To me, grinding means spending countless hours to increase a single skill or work a single dungeon / area to get that one special thing.
Doing multiple things while waiting for something - like exploring / hunting while waiting for crops to grow - isn't grinding to me.
☝️Agreed. Valheim isn't a grind.
Unless you're trying to max block skill or something
Yeh, there's that too. And Valheim doesn't do this with any kind of balance. We can level running and jumping by just playing the game, but trying to get fishing up to a decent level is a frikkin' nightmare. I feel you there, for sure.
I'm trying to do weapon smithing in Wurm Online.
Guess I'll be able to survive fishing in Valheim. 😄
Valheim fishing is much like IRL fishing. Drink lots of mead, catch few fish.
Oh yeah I gotta get the fishing dlc
Stamina and tasty mead, I assume?
Which reminds me, I need to create a batch of tasty mead in case I go serpent hunting.
I don't think any stamina meads will help, I think you lose the fish if you eat or drink anything while reeling it in
Which makes them useful when going serpent hunting.
Yep. That's the only way I've been able to make any progrses on fishing.
Not at all! I picture him uncorking with his teeth and chugging with one hand
Because you will stop dragging that harpooned serpent in the moment you run out of stamina anyway.
"It's either you or me, fish, and I'm drunk so it's gotta be you!"
imagine if there was a hat that was also a mead container
Lookin like the eitr refinery with little tubes n stuff
Available to craft after you've used all meads at least 5 times? 🤔
hey guys who want new start in valheim
That'd be amazing.., a hat that allows you to carry two different potion-buffs without expending storage slots is a great idea
I think you may ask that in https://discord.com/channels/391142601740517377/1024264966712340510 as that's a better place for it.
ok ty
This but horns for mead instead 😂
How did you find a GIF that looks exactly like my viking?!
Perhaps because you forgot to turn off your webcam?
I can't turn off my webcam. I need to maintain my OnlyHeim account.
turnips and carrots are indeed roots, but onions really arent 😄 they are type of altered stem called tunicated bulb, they have reduced stem further in the ground and only from that there are roots growing 😄
Spent some time on research, eh? 😛 Yeah, same with garlic, shallots, etc. I was just being lazy
What else, tomatoes fruits?
Me typing: "Is onion a root?" into google...
che, he says research XD
Intelligence is knowing tomatoes are fruits. Wisdom is not putting them in fruit salad.
I herd that 5 minutes typing into google makes you basically a doctor and shouldn't take any advice from them any longer
If was up to google, a cut in your finger would mean your entire arm should be amputated.
At least when visiting a doctor (s)he's only amputating your hand.
If it's in a hospital they may actually amputate your foot; but that's a different matter.
I figure online medical research is strongly incentivized to give you the worse possible diagnosis. Otherwise someone will have cancer or something and a site will say they're fine, and then the lawsuits will fly.
In the US for sure.
Not that much going to happen in (most of ) the European countries.
But then, in the US you could put your cat in a microwave oven to dry her pelt and win a lawsuit against the factory because the manual didn't say you shouldn't do that.
Imagine,
if Valheim was real in the US, the Greydwarves would drag us to court for killing their relatives and burn their remains in torches, use them as eyescream and building materials.
depends on the state. States with castle doctrine would allow you to defend yourself and your property against the graydwarves.
Man. experienced people in this game really suck at teamwork and surviving. It's like they get so confident they just throw themselves into the wilderness thinking they got this
Lemme guess, you had a bad experience with them?
Getting killed and you needed to protect them at their corpse run?
Darn. If there's any summoning item of which the drop rate may be tweaked down a lot; it's the withered bone.
Having done 6 sunken crypts and I got enough to summon Bonemass 23 times........ 😮
Anyone know if devs are gonna try and port to PlayStation?
I’d assume not anytime soon. Can’t say I know definitely for the future.
You may ask it again tomorrow during daytime CET as it's more likely a dev will be online here.
And you will more likely get an answer then as well.
Ha!
I found the Swamp-paradox.
The best moment to find the sunken crypts is at night.
The best time to stay out of the swamp unless you want to deal with wraiths is at night.
The Cold debuff is potent enough early game that I avoid all biomes at night. Being cold and unrested trying to run from a horde of gfreydwarves even can often turn sideways.
Well guys. I tried my first play through months ago and failed in the swamps. I was to hasty.. leaving the Bronze Age without having the best food and poison resists etc… this go around. Holy moly, it’s a lot easier. I just cleared my first crypt with no problems. Put up a home outside the swamp that has like 20 crypts so I can make the iron.
It’s going smoothly.. 👌🏻
Yeah good food makes a huge difference.
I think I could rock a bronze atgeir nearly through endgame as long as I had biome-appropriate food.
Damn this Inn ended up being so time consuming. But roof is finally done, so the building basically done too, right?
who needs walls or decorations or anything that makes an Inn an Inn
Building is done, but you still need to order your furniture at Valkea
I really like their meatballs.
Valkea only serves sausages...
I build the same way. The roof is always the hardest part.
Once you've completed the roof, it's just filling in the lines.
I usually start by building the floor to plan shape of the building, then I start building the pillars/frame so I can build the roof
annoying to see everything rotten, so I usually try to build the roof as I build the wall
like... build some floor and start building the roof as much as I can
I really need a break from building this lol. I'll probably setup a fishing spot next
Which animal would be best for meatballs? Deer balls? Lox balls?
Trolls
I'm usually start by digging out the basement and build a tiny shack in there to live until I got stone building available.
After that I build the basement and ground floor first, 1st floor after that with either stone pillars or wood-iron beams to support or a combination of both.
After that I go inside one tile by using 26° roof, using wood for the next floor(s) and finishing everything with 26° roof pieces eventually.
Advantage of that roof is that you can stand / walk on it; making building a roof a lot easier.
And once I get to plains, I replace the regular roof for the shingles the moment I got enough tar.
I like to mix the roofing pieces together. 26 for edges and 45 at the peak
I'm often using the 45° ridge as top piece to get rid of the smoke.
I may have to adjust some of my building anyway, as this is the first one where I'm using 4 hearths.
One in my "kitchen" and the other three to warm the building, using an open area in the floor above.
Kinda like a Skyrim house.
Do you know if hearths give off the same heat radius as bonfires?
I just lift a part of the top to let smoke out
but that depends on the building, had to do things very differently for my Inn
I dunno if the range of a hearth and a bonfire is the similar or one of them is smaller.
I do know that with 4 hearth and nothing else I'm getting a rested bonus of 4-5.
used same idea, that I lifted a part of the roof above kitchen to let smoke out, but also made indoor roof under the roof to redirect the smoke closer to the side of the building
This is what I did with the Inn and it's large kitchen with a lot of fire sources (6 ovens, 3 hearths) #screenshots message
I think the hearth has a bigger range, ~12m The bonfire is more like the campfire, only about 8m
I like to build my hearths next to a stone wall and use roof inside to funnel the smoke out a hole in the wall.
I so wish we had chimney options.
Hearth is the only one of them with 2 points of comfort, as well
an iron chimney and fume hood would be an awesome build piece.
If anything that will be a target post-release. The more systems they develop for at once the more it will slow everything down in the meantime. XBox only happened because they were asked to port it and given support to do so from what I understand.
Aye, was a collaboration with Microsoft and a third party studio that took over most/all porting work.
you can build a chimney out of stone, just overlap the stone on the inside so that rain can't get in but smoke can get out
hearth has roughly 12m range and bonfire has 15m or 12m depending if it is raining or not 😄
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Bonfire
https://valheim.fandom.com/wiki/Hearth
Just make sure you leave 1m or so gaps otherwise the smoke will just stay trapped.
Darn. Just had my worst sunken crypt ever. Only 20 iron out of it.
The positive of it are that I managed to get my 3rd Draugr Elite trophy from it, as well as some jewels, gold and chains.
And to think the first crypt in this swamp generated 137 scrap iron
Bonfires definitely have more range than campfires. They also persist in the rain. Hearths tho, I'm not sure if they have greater range or just the same
I feel like you went from the extreme right of the bell curve to somewhere in the middle left
Fortunately there are more crypts in this swamp, so eventually I'll be able to get more than a (long)boat load out of it.
I'm also needing the iron for building, as I maxed all my tools and weapons from a previous swamp.
I often have a hoe and a cart when I find a good swamp, and just haul the cart from crypt to crypt until it gets too unweildy and then I take it to the nearest shore, build a boat and get outta there
I got a portal building near the coast and put 2 chests in it.
The metal is dropped in the chest, the rest is portalled home right away.
When both chests are full, I get the boat and sail it all back home.
Also means I need to run back and forth a couple of times, but that's giving me the advantage I'm able to get enough bloodbags for food.
Entrails aren't really a problem, with all the Draugr spawning in crypts anyway.
my world's swamp I found has filled me 2 full long boats with iron, and if rest of those crypts are a bit lucky might be enough for 3rd
And with the crypts having their own chests, it's easy to drop items I don't want to transport right away; but instead pick them up at my last run, before I cross off that crypt.
I transported the first 10 loads of scrap from the first crypt with a karve and one stack on me.
Last 5-6 stacks are still in the chest at that place.
So will sail there, load the iron, sail to Swamp #2, pick up the iron, sail to the Smouldering tomb and do that one, before sailing back.
Will be a nice trip to do for sure.
After that I'll see. I got 3 more crypts spotted, so I'm quite certain I'll get those 18 slots filled up with full stacks. 😄
Curious if anyone can comment on how the game stability has been related to multiplayer ping in heavily terrain changed and built up location with 3+ people
with so many patches related to that, just curious how improved it is
That is hard to tell specifically... it's pretty stable, but it will depend heavily on the network connection between ALL players (each player can be the "controller" of a given area at any time) and the performance of their PCs relative to the world and buildings
Overall game performance has improved quite a bit, but the netcode isn't significantly different from what I know
Lets go with a dedicated server with 500mb stable connection
no clue about multiplayer, but even in single player there's been masssive improvements over the years
The server in Valheim is really just a data repository. It doesn't really control any gameplay to a significant extent, it just logs and saves what the clients tell it to.
okay, last we played was 9months ago, and with 5 ppl building up a single village it got to a point where opening a box took up to 20sec to load a container.
But we all had over 1gb connections and decent PC's
When a client enters a chunk it becomes the controller of that chunk, and manages all enemy AI, drops, reactions to other players, everything, and then just sends that back to the server. But that's why each individual's PC and connection are important, because any player could be the lynchpin in a given area.
Gotcha. Yeah, there have been some fixes to the chest ownership logic and some things like that so it's definitely improved. How much for your specific case I can't really attest to, though.
cheers for the info
Curious if there is a way to make it so all that data is Server side and not based on individual PC's but I guess that would be to taxing for a server and wuld incrise the expense and load on one =/
Yeah, not really any way to do that as far as I know, there might be a mod that will do that, but I haven't personally looked into any of that.
You know it'll be a "fun crypt" the moment the first thing you encounter after entering, are a one star Elite and a one star Draugr archer.
better load up the scale shield.
I'm running with a banded shield. Works well enough for me.
Iron shield tends to last me till late Plains only changing it foe Mistlands
But then as the derp I am I always just go for Crom and never use shields again any way heh
i usually go with iron buckler, then switch to blackmetal shield and after that carapace buckler 😄
hey, new to this game and still haven't found any iron. What's the deal with iron?
you need to progress through the game to get access/easier access to new materials, features and stuff
at the start you're stuck with caveman gear, next comes bronze when you get a pickaxe, to get good amount of iron you will need to go to the next biome (swamp), but you'll need an item from a boss first.
each biome will have new materials for you
iron is found in the sunken crypt (dungeons) in the swamp
too bad there aren't iron ore mines
progression goes like this: Meadows > forest > swamp > mountain > plains > mistlands > ashlands (not implemented yet) > north (not yet)
Just a word of advice too.... try to use iron sparingly.... you'll end up using a lot of it, and it's kind of a pain to get.
Crypts are easier once you get usedbto dealing with draugr in small spaces
crypt slimes are the worst, and also those 2 star archers
but they also used to be way worse
Never had an issue with archers but i also go for root armir first thing
why are there tags in the lfg servers? I filter for vanilla and see so many modded servers
Might not all be mods
Since you can tank abominations in maxed troll armor with bone shield
idk how common they're in Valheim, but there are server side "mods" that do not require anybody else to install anything
It's still wrong to tag them as vanilla if they still run with mods
That should be addressed
so funny story, I've been catching boars and putting them in a pit for a long time now, and I've been wondering why they just keep disappearing. I only figured it out when I noticed my most recent catch run into the nearby bonfire and burn to death.
stupid boars...
Happened to all of us i think
Not stupid, they live by their warrior honor code and prefer death over captivity
You could just press F5 and type in “devcommands” and spawn in iron just type “spawn iron 50 “ you can do this with all items in the game
Bad advice my lord
If your doing it on console tho you press the share and pause button and the two dpads all together
Why is that
Because your first reflex is to cheat?
Well I mean it’s not cheating if the game had the mechanics to do it some people just like to build and explore
Has*
..But he didn't say that, he said he's new, so instead of giving pointers you just told him to spawn some in? 🥲
I’ve finished the game without it 8 times I just like to build now
Completely unrelated
The game also has the mechanic of "Running the program" and "quitting game". It doesn't necessarily define the gameplay experience, though.
I suppose in my opinion valheim is just Minecraft with lore and different graphics
Just because it's mechanically available doesn't mean you should be doing that for optimal gaming experience.
Define optimal gaming experience would that not be a subjective standard for one’s own optimal gaming experience may be different from another’s
It's a "mechanic" that isn't meant to be used in normal playthrough.
I'm sure most would agree that cheating everything in without experiencing the game as it should first should not be recommended
I don't feel like that's as helpful a counter-argument as you think it is. In fact, it kinda proves the point that it goes against how most people feel about it.
You can do that while still playing as intended
Cheating isn't smarter lol
I miss the command being imacheater
Again subjective standard
I will lie in my resume and say I have 10 years of experience as a nuclear physicist and work at a nuclear plant.
I'm sure nothing will go wrong
That has no correlation 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Okay, on your 9th playthrough, spawn in, teleport to the queen, and just killall ^^ super effective!
Okay Homer
Neither is stating you finished the game eight times to recommending someone to cheat things in while being new :p
I actually have done that also spawn in the bosses from time to time to just fight them for fun
I mean there is a "no build cost" world modifier... if you just want to build why bother lugging around iron at all?
I enable that too I mean I also mod my worlds so
That is a less cheaty way
(But it does feel like cheating considering how easy it makes everything)
More and more reasons to stop giving advice to new players 😛
So basically, if you have taken any cues from this current spat, do not cheat your way to iron, k thnx.
I don't do it in my survival worlds
I have a build-world though just to experiment with stuff and if i feel like just doing a side project without functional value
Or do whatever you want and don’t listen to video game elitest purests
Again, the whole point is to not recommend new players to play via cheats, let them play as intended first, whether they want to plays with modifiers or not fine, but don't tell them to just spawn everything in
Now you're just bending our arguments to what you want to read...
Oh now THAT is a hot take! Super spicy!
Everything in my main world is farmed the vanilla way, it just feels like more of an accomplishment imo if you're standing in your epic endgame base having fought and bled for every stone and plank of wood instead of just getting them out of thin air.
Ive yet to try the dev commands feature. I turned on hammermode on my completed world to muck around with n got bored pretty quick. I guess if all you wanna do is build but somehow I enjoy the struggle of needing more resources to finish my work
Can you say I’m an eliteist without saying I’m an elitest
No one said you're an elitist 😂
Oh God. THIS argument again?
And this is now devolving to trolling.
If you're gonna start mocking people for not agreeing with you then you might as well stop talking
I’m saying everyone shyting on me is lmao

Yes, dev commands are cheating. No, if that helps you enjoy the game, that's not a bad thing. Done.
Imagine not using a mechanic in a video game because you feel some kind of moral superiority wild bro wild
You're just playing the game differently. That's fine too ofc but for a new player, the joys of this game come from exploring and figuring out how to do things the way it was intended... Without cheats
Devcommands is not a mechanic, it's in the name. It's for testing, spawning, cheating.
The entire point is that telling a new player to skip the game via devcommands is terrible advice
emphasis on NEW
Yep that's me, I'm better than everyone else because my way of playing is morally superior and I'm not joking
Who are you to say to him it may be amazing advice
In my first playthrough I only used commands because of save corrpution. Xbox release had a lot of save problems.
It's not.
At least you can admit it I respect that
Still you don’t know that it may be to him
Well that’s ableist
How can it ever be good advice?
it's cool if you can't play without cheating. like bumpers in bowling right. to say you're playing on equal ground with everybody else would be incorrect though
Now you're deffo trolling ^^
Some people are going to be PISSED when dev commands disappear at launch.
Am I how do you know how can you be sure 🥸
i know i am, building without fly was a lot more work than it should be!
Well I play on Xbox cloud so they won’t lol
They're really gonna remove it??
Yeah that’s just a rumor so cope harder
Lol what
They're for use during testing. Why would they once the game is finished?
Nothing has been confirmed, but there's little reason to remove them tho.
Things can always need testing whether the game leaves ea or not
🤔
99% of what you might need are world modifiers anyway now.
Also even if they did I would still have my full stocked castle world with fully stocked large chests with every item in the game times 50

Who’s this goofball
Ngl this is the content I joined discord for

it doesn't show gifs?
What?
Not for us normal people
@vocal rivet where did you hear that we would remove devcommands? 😄
I did I don’t spend my whole life on discord idk who this goof ball is
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Oh, just a guess.
🤣
don't guess
keep the devcommands but please do something about the tagging in lfg servers
it brings horrible things to dereks who guesses wrong
Who you taking about?
I think he's talking about Smiffe
Smiffe idk who that is
Idk who that is maybe inform me
A developer...
Ah I see
no...
Sorry... Lol I was just kidding
That's on me, sorry.
In that case thanks smiffe for the dev commands I really enjoy building and just exploring
no kidding allowed 😄
_1) Be polite, don't hate on anyone, don't flame, don't troll, and have fun! _ <---
W huge W
I only started trolling when everyone started shyting on me
I gave my advice cope with it
Cute backpaddling
It’s peddling sweet heart not paddleing
tip of the day if you use devcommands anyways.
Setkey StaminaRate 0
Anyways I rest my case
No one was, that's just your perception of what happened to not admit that what you said initially was wrong.
Telling someone new to cheat and pretty much not enjoy the game is terrible advice
I demand
Sorry, best I've got is 🍯
damn 😤
No, removing devcommands is probably not a good idea. But it would be nice to be able to limit them on dedicated servers so that only admins can use them.
I need commands to stay, but for funnies, not cheating.

Noone can without mods.
Who cares about them in the single player mode...you make it into what you want it to be.
I'm pretty sure they'll stay. They will likely stay just as they are, not on by default and taking some work to enable, and not working when you're connected to a server.
Yes don't troll. Trolls break houses, even if they can help you with copper mining
But their skins make such comfy shirts...
?
no, money down!
So... just like it is now
I would be against it
I like devcommands
He should at least get his own prebuilt, call it a smiffehut or something 😛
SkillGainRate set to x10
All skills lost at death but still respawn with equipped items
No map, no portals
No work bench requirements.
This will be a very unique playthrough
Very high spawn rate of raids though
Carts are great for carrying things you can't hold.
No its not
It legit takes me longer to get my silver down the mountain and travel a really short distance to the shore than it is to sail a long way back
If you’re overfilling it with the heaviest materials you can find it is going to be slow, but if you don’t make it too heavy it will still be better than just your inventory.
You can send a cart down a mountain in seconds.
The entire purpose of a cart is to carry heavy matels bruh
But not the amount you’re probably putting in. The cart would probably collapse if it could.
It got stuck in between the most random thing and i had to legit dig an entire stone under the cart to get it unstuck
No, it's to expand your inventory. Pulling things gets more difficult the heavier it is. If you fill a cart with wood it's not too bad to haul around.
The cart is just generally really horrible to use
A little uphill? nah you never getting up there
I think a lot of it is technique, too. Once you figure out how to avoid obstacles or go zig-zag to get up a hill, to read the terrain in order to traverse it with a heavy load, it's not too bad.
Sailing is still faster if you have access to water nearby, but that's because you're using the wind to do the work instead of manually walking. Sailing is faster than running along the shore, too.
The cart should never be so user unfriendly
How much weight did the cart you used for silver have?
I mean... it works very close to like I have experienced a wagon or cart to work IRL. Wagons are a lot tougher to navigate up hills with kids sitting in them than when they're empty. 🤷♂️
You are welcome to not use it, that's fine, but you can't say it's unusable. That's just down to personal preference.
Am not disagreeing with that but i think they should change that to be lighter a little so you can at least go up small hills a little easier even with a lot weight
You can? I find them invaluable.
I never said it was unusable i said it was horrible to use
I just think they couldve make it more user friendly especially since its such an early game item
It’s very user friendly if it isn’t too heavy
What's complicated about it? Press E to engage with it, move from A to B and then press E to disengage again.
It's naturally meant to be a struggle or too difficult to go up inclines when it's way too heavy. Not sure why you and others expect that to work any other way. Also, just do multiple trips if you have too much weight, or try unequipping anything that slows movement speed (and if you have it, equip fenris armor for a speed buff).
And don't forget your hoe to smooth out any larger bumps.
As a new player you wouldnt have as much game knowledge and would instead just be frustrated when using the cart
Just saying that they could improve this aspect of the game
Maybe Hugin could give a hint about weight affecting carts?
Doesn't take any game knowledge to know that heavier cart=harder to move, especially up inclines.
Thats not all tho, you legit get stuck on every little thing with the cart
Kind of like how wheels irl can get stuck on stuff. I know, crazy.
Some work can be put into it and just make the cart smoother
I like how the cart is, it’s use is limited of its super heavy and the terrain is not smooth just how it should be. It is even OP in some situations like mountains where you can yeet it down totally overfilled and it sometimes arrives intact and you just saved a lot of running silver down the mountain like you would have to without
If we talking about irl than they should introduce the next tier of transportation or options to upgrade the wheels or a better cart
I mean i understand how it keeps the cart realistic with the weights, but right now i just think a bit optimizing to make it go smoother would make a lot of new players days when they are trying to use the cart for their first time
The game doesn't tell you when the player is too heavy either, but everyone works it out.
Wdym, when you are first encumbered hugin yaps at you, the screen flashes with "You are encumbered", and when you open your inventory there's a flashing red number
The game does 3 separate things to alert players on being encumbered
O_O I'd... somehow forgotten all of that.
👍 np
Fair enough. Maybe "The cart is too heavy" wouldn't be such a bad idea then.
They do, the lox.
?
the lox transport goods?
You carry the goods, sit on lox, lox carries you.
Yus
idea: lox cart the size of a house, 64 slots in it, strap it to lox, goodbye inventory issues
ig i could try that out when i get to black metal age
Strap dead bodies to lox and herd them?
Actually, I do want to know this
If you die on a lox, but the lox doesn't die, do you now have a lox cart?
Please go log in and test this right now, I can’t I’m at work lol
I am on vacation in a farm with no computer lol
I WOULD BUT I HAVE NO TAMED LOX D:
is north deep goind to drop with ashlands
Drop north with not deep with landash
north deep drop ashlands is with
No
can I have
pls
Yeth
We don't know a release date for Deep North yet. Ashlands is coming out first half of 2024 so anytime between April (now) and June 30th 2024. It is quite likely that there will be another bigger content patch like Hearth & Home after Ashlands update before we see the Deep North update, it is also a strong possibility that the Deep North update will be the one that makes the game come out of Early Access, which means it might take longer in development than Ashlands or Mistlands, thats what I think will happen. (I'm happy with all of this because the content so far that has come out has been nothing short of amazing, I don't mind the slow pace)
just found like 64 silver quarters in an old roll $10 roll
oldest coin was from 1927 with total melt value at $327
In Valheim? Didn't know Valheim had silver quarters
Might be 5 years from now till we can see deep north
I would say thats quite unlikely
The Ocean is still set to get an update sometime between Ashlands and Deep North, right?
I am not sure we ever got told when it would be.
Don’t think they’ve said anything about ocean update before Deep North, but it’s a possibility. They originally wanted to do an ocean update but scrapped the road map
Ocean will be after DN if they do anything for it
Ocean geysers and icebergs!
Yeah I remember the scrapping, but also remember seeing several mentions of it still being in line for an update.
Just hoping for some extra ocean fun ☺️
It will?
Deep Ocean
I think they said they want to update the ocean a bit but it won’t be a full boom update with a boss

That say, DN will be the last biome and shall be the hardest of all
Yes dn is the last, but they had talked about doing a bit with ocean, maybe between Ashlands and dn
That’s good to hear as ocean needs an overhaul
Correct Deep North will be last and hardest, they said they will probably do something to Ocean but not 100% confirmed, it might happen between Ashlands and Deep North in an update similar to Hearth & Home IF they decide to do it, also possible that Ocean will not get any biggish update.
Imho Ocean doesn't need much, most of it should be water to sail through, how else are we going to feel like Vikings, the emptiness of Ocean contributes to the feeling of a Viking out on sea on the way to new lands, if there is too much ocean content that feeling could be lost, one of my worries about ocean stuff.
I agree of the feeling of emptiness while sailing through the open waters. Instead of not adding new stuff to ocean, they can easily expand the map a little larger(more oceans).
While exploration is fun, sailing is one of the most boring parts of the game imo though outside of serpent spawns. Plenty that could be done, more monsters, make fishing more worthwhile, more interesting ships/custom ships, pirates?
Imagine an oceon boss holy
!update
Leviathan hunts
Morning gjall!
I would like to dive at least 🙆♂️
Dive to pick up those things others threw in the ocean
