You can hide keys and walls or stone blocks easily and they're pretty glowy too

Yeah it's a proper boss fight alright, no pushover. Using a weapon he is weak to helps of course, and clearing anything before, that might be aggroed during the fight. Me, first time around I built a frigging palisade around the entire site so there wouldn't be any stray lox and fulings interrupting the fight...

Lure monsters to their base and they will attack them and help you defeat them.
Increases your chances to survival and to get loot; while - if they all got killed - also makes it a lot easier for you to get the sap extractor.

You're not the only one.
I never had, but that was because I was curious if I was able to mine out a skull and set up a temporary base in it.
Turned out it's just too small, but the soft tissue was a welcome surprise.

And finding out there's another way to get the resource was a surprise too.

i had maxed out padded armor, 210hp, frostner mostly used. got attacked by a seeker soldier who then threw me down on the bottom floor. got attacked by several seekers and i think it was 7 ticks

i dont think you realize how insignificant a bow is when you're being attacked by 2 dozen mobs half of them being ticks and brood and several seekers. in a tight space it is useless

well theres also a reason why even with armor you're gonna be dead if you're trying to recover items deep in the mines. your armor wont do crap when seekers are attacking you. and you are also sidetracked trying to retrieve items.

I don't think you realize the potential of a bow when being faced with multiple enemies.

You could've stayed at a high point and used a ranged attack to take out the weakest (ticks) opponents, while retreating the stronger ones were coming at you.
At some point they won't aggro anymore, giving you the opportunity to sneak back and place a sneak attack at at least one of them. Eventually you may got them down, but more important, you could have to deal with the monsters one by one, instead all at once.

Also, I believe a certain kind of bomb would've been useful to attack / weaken them.

Going in, yelling "Gung Ho!" and waving an atgeir around is not the right approach.

You can just play it safe... Picking them one by one just from the enterence and retreating outside when you get very low on health for example

When you need many you find one, when don't need them, you find plenty in each and every chamber.

I'm not back in mistlands yet in my current playthrough, but earlier I've taken on the mines with perhaps too big respect, making progress stupidly slow - but relatively safe. I go in with 2H + 1S foods, and pop any seeker I see from a distance with arrows to lure them to me without bringing all their friends. If a swarm comes for me I run like Forrest Gump back to the entrance where I turtle up and grind them down, alternatively flee outside if there's too many. Wait a bit and enter again, they will have wandered off allowing me to kill one or two before the rest come back. Rince and repeat. Only one death so far in mines...

Mines are easier than outdoors Mistlands to me, where those pesky bugs can come at me at any time from any direction. The mines are more controllable.

Raiding fuling villages is one of my fave pastimes in this game. I no longer need anything from them, I just enjoy the process of picking them off from afar, luring away the shammies and berserkers and then just razing the village to the ground. All fulings must die!

If you got one near a Yagluth altar or a tar pit, don't raze it, but use the platforms the Fulings build as archery platform.
Over time you'll end up with great loot that way.

It doesn't offer as much protection as other armor, but it would give you a plus to Eitr regeneration.
Trick is to make sure the monsters won't get to you, meaning keep away from them at all cost.

If you do any kind of eitr-centric build, you'll want to use the full set of eitr armor. The extra regen makes it so much more viable to constantly use the staves.

At first I'd lure then back to the entry where they find it hard to get in, that and any other tight bottleneck spots change the game in the mines. Also the rear abdomen takes more damage if you can circle strafe it.
