What’s funny to me is the amount people complain about the time taken to release, which is entirely the Devs prerogative, but people have spent 100s, if not 1000s, of hours playing this game after getting the game cheap compared to other games, knowing it’s in early access.

I know it’s people’s passion, excitement, and enjoyment for the game, coming through in frustration, but honestly that doesn’t excuse the entitlement that is coming across.

I think the devs have released updates way too fast in the past. They really need to slow down, and I mean by allot. An update every 3 to 5 years should be the goal, so that everyone has the chance to despair.

Theres a few things about Valheim that would make the server community much stronger than it is

• Support for cross world portals. These are portals that take you to another server. Basically the server login info is put into the portal by the player. A third portal type.
• A data field in all items produced on a world / characters in that world that has a "world ID"
• A world modifier to lock a world to characters/items that arent from itself

And then, in my absolute wildest dreams, my wildest fantasies 😍

• Steam workshop support so that players can more easily adjust Valheim themselves after 1.0

Personally I think Valheim shines a lot on an active server. But the game itself battles against keeping a server active. Individual progression influences the worlds progression (even with player raids on) and a few other things such as no respawning dungeons, trees, or metals. These are all things that the server community have to deal with 🙁

Ive found that Multiplayer Valheim has to be optimized differently from the ground up

• respawning dungeons allow players to use 1 dungeon 100 times, they no longer need more than 1 dungeon in a loaded area (helps performance, particularly in multiplayer)
• Respawning metals, trees, and rocks. (Stops the world from being "ruined" by somebody playing in the area before you)
• Locations have to be spread out so that there is only 1 combat area per loaded zone
• Vegetation quantities can be reduces significantly, using scale tricks to hide the emptiness. Instance counts of the overworld can be reduced to 60% of their vanilla values without ruining the look of each biome

For me Valheim changed a lot once I started using EWP. I didnt need to wait on IronGate for anything anymore. If a player or I had a problem with the game, we could just make a script to try to adjust it ourselves.
This opened my eyes to putting the ability to change in the hands of the players

Nobody said valheim was going to be easy! Building gets much faster as you build more and you start using snap points effectively. You also never lose any of the building materials or content if something is destroyed. Take it as a teaching lesson

theres a lot of anger that seems to be directed at valheim and their devs... but i think they factually made one of the best game available, as a small indie studio...(the number of players who enjoy the game speaks for itself)
so its all very relative.
sure its not finished, and a lot of people are waiting for it... but they could decide to just be less ambitious and rush a finished product, and move on.
we are lucky that they actually care enough to make sure they craft the best game they can, in my opinion.
We are entitled to a finished game(eventually), i think. But we aren't entitled to a masterpiece.

Im not sure if this is really true. I often hear players confidently assert this but I havent seen the same attitude from the developers. Keep in mind "Early Access" is different for every platform. Technically there is no Early Access Valheim for xbox. It is "Game Preview" Valheim for Xbox. The same could happen with PSN.

Additionally, consider the fact that Playstation Valheim is handled by Piktiv, not IronGate. From my pov this means the chance of them both 1.0 and playstation Valheim launching at the same time is very unlikely, it would take a high level of coordination.

My bet personally would be Playstation Valheim 2026 and Deep North 2027 but thats just conjecture on my part

Releasing the game as version 1.0 on PlayStation but not on Steam could cause many problems. Another possibility is that Steam's Valheim would be updated to version 1.0 while Deep North remains at version 1.1.

I just look at how IronGate communicates with us. They confidently tell us "PS5 2026" so that seems set in stone. When people ask about Deep North, they dont say anything specific, they say when its done.

yo is valheim worth to replay rn? ive finished the game around 7 month ago, is there any good thing that worth to play?

i think having no portal and no map is an incredible chalenge. but its also very time consuming.
i recommend it... but i also don't...

did you see the modifiers? you can change some things now, including playing without a map, and portals. also having fire hazard

someone was mentionning a bunch of indie games from the 90s yesterday. i couldnt help but google it and, none of these games (baldurs gate 1, fallout 1, deus ex) had teams smaller than 50 people, from what i gathered.

According to Smårs, Iron Gate currently operates with 16 people, but only 8 members are dedicated to Valheim’s development.

yeah, i was surprised about that claim, i couldnt help but to veirfy it. they all had large group of devs, with a bunch of others specialists around it.

more people working on the game doesnt mean better ideas ending up in the final product. we just need to be patient, if we want a good end product..

I played with max combat difficulty and reduced death penalty; it's fun except that the more dangerous mobs in mistlands and ashlands oneshot you no matter what. You can also increase raid frequency if you want to go for all the trophies + give yourself a reason to never idle. Alternatively, you can ban your most used weapon type(s)

Will we eventually get more npc? A village with neutral vikings also stuck in valheim would be amazing

Just make most wander around on a set path and have a few with purpose like a few merchants and maybe a monster part bounty board. Food for thought
