Why? It should only be accessible inside of events. Meaning event opens it, you do the swapping, and then you have a "clear" command that runs before the event closes it.

Hey guys, just picked up Valheim and was wondering if my first experience should be a solo world or should I find people to play with?

ofc do as you like, this is personal opinion: i would give it a try solo for the first time, learning by yourself by try & error (and listening to the raven and in-game hints) is a priceless experience and maybe starting with more experienced players risks to spoil some of that.. the game is balanced to play solo, but also fun to play with friends, just keep in mind it's not a mmorpg and multiplayer has to be hosted privately by players

Solo is fun, though the difficulty is off-putting for some eventually; friends can help you get over the walls you may not clear yourself.

Though ngl 90% of my time in valheim is spent farming in meadows or alone raising wolves on a mountain, anyway.

And yeah avoid playing with absolute sweats if you can help it; sucks the fun out of a game when you're learning to make your first nether portal and your friend pops out of it wearing the Ender Dragon's head.

Also make sure the supporting pillar/beam is connected to the ground as each building piece will take a route to the shortest way to the ground level (which shows the building piece connected to ground as blue).

Corewood is stronger than regular wood, it supports higher.

But depending if you're in swamp already, you can use iron building pieces for even stronger support than corewood.

Personally I enjoy building with corewood, you can stack horizontal log beams on top to each other to make log wall.

The problem with expectations is that people - myself included - often have higher expectations as what's actually shown in teasers.

the only downside with valheim....Love the game...However...the replayability of biomes. There really isnt a reason to go back to the earlier biomes after reaching the next level.....Shouldn't all the biomes be interconnected and all resources be needed throughout the game. I think the current build system is one of the things that makes this game so great.
I've done similar games with preset buildings and sooner or later all games were looking the same. And not just mine, but seeing the screenshots of others, they faced the same problems too.

As for building, the integrity system is not really a concern either, it's more the meshes and stuff that can be optimized.

For about a day I have problems with my graphics and with the standby mode of both my screen and my PC.
Each time my card was boosting the fans to cool down a bit, the sound began to rattle, the entire screen and PC froze and the only thing to solve it was by forcing a complete reboot using the power button.

I tried to reinstall the drivers; didn't work on manual.
Tried it through the NVIDIA app, didn't work.
Uninstalled all drivers and the app, then downloaded to install it again, didn't work.
Tried a windows recovery, didn't work.
Tried to install the NVIDIA app after the windows recovery, didn't work.

What did work was using the MoBo-graphics, even on the somewhat heavier games.

So I was fearing the card was actually broken; which would've been a pain. Not just when it comes to the cost of it, but also because it's unlikely I would have a new card before New Year. Let alone before Christmas.

So I decided to remove it, unplugged the power cable from it and heard a faint click when I did that.
And at that point I was like: "Say it isn't so!"
So I pushed the card to the Mobo and heard another click.

Meaning it was 'so'.

Those buggers that put the thing together for me hadn't checked if everything was connected the way it should be.

Guess they're going to get a bad review from me because of this.
Or at least, a bad point in the review.

PC Story, Part 3:

The damn thing keeps freezing up after 45-60 minutes of use.

I'm so sick and tired of that problem now, that I've decided to download the Win 11 install files and reinstall the whole shebang on that machine.

And write a truly destroying review on the shop page about the company that sold me the PC in the first place.

Seems like the buttwipe that put things together and installed windows was more thinking about his Christmas bonus as concentrating on his job.
Thus windows is installed wrong, the GFX card wasn't pushed properly in its slot, the card's software wasn't installed properly and when I tried to solve those problems, I might have made things worse when I went to the last "recovery point", which at that point was faulty as well.

So buying Windows itself, installing all and hopefully I get the thing working after that.

I always prefer a clean install anyway. You shouldn't have to buy Windows, though. Should be able to just install from the iso, and a digital license should be attached to the computer.

Problem I have is that I don't have the product's license code.
Which means making a copy is useless, as I can't fill in that code.

It's one of the problems I ran into because they hadn't set a reset point after the initial activating.
Which makes me wonder why, as that's something that's been recommended since I dunno.... Win 95 perhaps?

I actually just reinstalled Windows 11 pro on a Dell laptop with a new hard drive for a friend, and it automatically activated that as well. So possibly your manufacturer did something wrong? It really should activate automatically.

It's also possible when you took out the GPU and inserted it again that it broke the activation

Windows has this reset or recovery points you can use in case something went completely wrong, so you can go back to a previous installment of the OS without having to reinstall that.

Yeah, so if you go back to a previous version, your current key is not valid.
Then it also really depends what kind of key they activated, a one time OEM key or retail etc...

The same key should be valid for both 10 and 11, as long as they're the same versions (like home or pro).

I didn't take anything out. They hadn't pushed the GFX-card completely in the slot.
I found out by accident yesterday when wondering why the computer froze the moment the card's fans were speeding up.

And that caused problems with not seeing my screens, but only on the MoBo's ones, and all that crap.

So while I'm using the old PC to get that start up flash drive going, I will check if everything is really OK.

This is one of the reasons I prefer to build my own. Whilst I appreciate that not everyone has the ability to do so, by doing it my self, I know what's gone in the PC build, what software is in it, that everything has been activated correctly, that all drivers are installed etc. Any problems that may happen are purely down to me!

Well, I do know there have been retailers who'd moved jumpers on Mobo's, just so the customer would come back with a "broken" PC, which then would be fixed in a few hours.

And yes I agree it should work out of the box, and without any user intervention. However, in the 30+ years that I have owned a PC, I have heard too many similar stories. From paying for certain components and being replaced with cheaper, to being missing completely, and relying on the customers lack of knowledge to get away with things. I'm not for one moment saying this is the situation here, I am simply stating why I build my own PCs and have done so for many years. In fact since the mid 1990s after I left the RAF.

Final update:

I'm afraid the MoBo is damaged.

When trying to download the ISO program, the computer froze after 5 minutes.
When trying to reboot, I got the option to start in safe mode or solve the problems.
When that didn't work and I rebooted, I got the option to enter the BIOS, which never happened.
When rebooting again, the screen flashed green / black and I wasn't even able to do enter BIOS.
Rebooted again, got to windows login screen, but couldn't even put in my password.

I'm going to call the bastards tomorrow and demand a new computer or a free repair. Because this thing is obviously being broken since the start.

From what I've seen from a streamer using a Dragon in a mod, it'll make the player way to overpowered.

Basically you could use a Raft up to getting to Moder, then get an egg, raise a dragon and fly from one landmass to another; thus using the better visibility to find locations without being attacked by the monsters on the ground. Even Drakes and Gjall won't be able to harm you.

Considering in that mod the Dragon as able to even fight with you, that streamer had to even up the difficulty to get some sort of a challenge.

Having seen that, I'm agreeing with Smiffe; it would make the player too powerful and certainly would destroy the balance of the game.

Depends on the elevation really. Treeline can be anywhere from 10k-16k feet above sea level. And considering none of the mountains in valheim are quite that tall tree covered mountains are possible if the nutrients can exist. But considering the hostile nature of the mountains (constant strong winds and cold temps) tree line could be much lower.

welll, it's a game, game worlds tend to be scaled down to make traversal less of a pain, so we can only estimate what the scale of things actually is. how quickly you go from ocean to temperate forest to snowy fir woods to a frozen mountaintop devoid of trees makes me think that valheim's mountains are meant to be a lot taller than they are in-game, which is about 485 meters above sea level at most

the ancient trees in the old mistlands were twice as big as the ones in swamps

which means they also towered over the pine trees scattered between them, which had the same size ceiling as black forest pines but a higher size floor (200-250%)
