Thats good to hear, i've been a big battleaxe enjoyer, still hate how slow the first swing is, I found that sometimes when mashing you can skip it (#memes-and-clips message)

It's not consistent by any means, but its fun when it happens

I would say yes, but be sure to carry portal mats so you can get home immediately. And the very first thing you do once landing near your corpse is to build that portal.

i Lied, im going for it. there is a spot where i spotted some land thats really close, to where i died in the black forest biome with a few pre builts. i should have set up camp the first time i passed them, i thought about it, but i just assumed i was heading to the "next biome" where i wouldn't get killed by a base mob like that.

To easen your frustration, you can temporarily change world modifiers for enabling passive enemies during the retrieval of your gravestone.

The game is all about preparation, when you get used to it more you become more confident entering new biomes with properly prepared foods, meads and equipment.

But i haven't died trying to retrieve it yet, just a bunch of hicups, im just sailing down coast of my body till i find a biome i can gather and build a lil spot at. my only saving grace if i die 1 more time is that i kept a pickaxe that will allow me to get bronze at home. so starting over will only suck a little. and its still early in the day 😛

Yeah, swamp is what I would call "true jump in difficulty" as the environment there is very hostile with constant wet debuff outside.
The jump between swamp and the next biome is not as drastic as between black forest and swamp.

They resist 2 of the physical damage types but take normal damage from one. Also they are weak to fire.

Yeah, bows are ineffective against them, fire arrows are bit better choice tho.

If you have bronze buckler you should be able to handle it melee.

They deal little less damage than trolls but they have more variety on different attacks.

I don't mind the black forest grind either, but the addition of the bear has brought more enjoyment for the biome IMO.

i dont have an opinion on the bear yet, but it does add that extra something i need to be cautious for, and he just looks like a big rock sometimes so i gotta be on guard

For sure, they are bit harder to spot than trolls for example. But their aggro range seems to be much smaller than other mobs so they usually don't bother too much except if you get too close. Have had few jumpscares from sudden bear behind.

yeah i was picking some berries a stones throw from one just before i asked about them. they also seem to not put up the chase like the other mobs. i ran from one earlier and he turned around well before the others

They don't put up too much chase unless alerted, but they sometimes can have some hard time with pathfinding if there are many bushes and smaller trees around.

I don't always like the introduction of the bear. The drops are only useful up to Black Forest, contrary to the Greydwards where Wood, Stone, Resin and Eyes are always useful for construction, lighting, and portals. Also, luckily they don't do that much damage, but every time a bear spawns, it turns into a very tedious fight

Yeah, of course, once you get Swamp or Mountain gear, bears are easy, but at that point they're no longer useful

Bear meat is in no good recipe (could be added to some Plains or Mistlands-tier food just to make it relevant in the late game) and the rest of the drops don't have widespread use like everything else

While yes people want the final update for 1.0 to come out, lots of peeps are sarcastic about it and will let you continue to simmer the goods on that stove. To me Valheim is like Project Zomboid, let the devs cook and it'll be so good you'll be like the food connoisseur in Ratatouille.

Assuming you sleep at night thats around 5x a 20% chance so not unusual to not get a raid, especially when you might not be near a base when the roll is done. During my first playthrough I spent a lot of time doing Black Forrest and got just a single Greydawarf raid literally when I arrived back home from slaying Eikthyr then nothing until I got to the Swamp.
