It is tho, compared to the alternatives it's like wearing a deer cape at this point of the game. The impact of both the Ashen and Feather is not even close to the meager +25% move speed and -100% stamina drain while running ... which literally never happens at most you will get 8-10% move speed and - 25-30% stamina drain. A thing that would have made it semi-viale would have been if the Moder power worked on it (just found out it used to) like why not??? Even with it why would I use my only ability slot for Moder when I can get Eikthyr AND have one of the better capes ... the Asksvin cape needs a huge buff to complete with the other two and to be more fun

Wind run used to give huge speed boost before it was changed (during Bog Witch IIRC) to smaller speed boost and reduced stamina usage for running.

Maybe if IronGate thinks it would be worth it, they sure will consider outsource the porting to other platforms. The problem would be that with so many copies sold on PC and Xbox, a dev-studio that could bring it to Playstation or Switch, would ask for a big check. Then IronGate would need to keep the game IP "hot and alive" a few more years, to be able to sell enough copies to break even. So if IronGate would like to move on to other games/stuff, that wouldn't happen.

As a gamer I have only one large screen. For two reasons, 1. I have a hard time seeing things in games, even with my glasses on. 2. I can afford to own it.

I was definitely one of the users asking for the macOS build and am very glad it was made. Unity engine is not known for efficiency, but it happens to be a good fit for the M-whatever arm64 APUs that Apple uses. The fact I can also still play it on a x86_64 mac with Radeon card is also great.

I do wish Apple would have hopped on board the Vulkan train, though.

tbh as far as immersive goes i prefer a small selection of QoL mods to go with the basegame's no map/no portal... fire hazards gave me so much trouble when building, i just gave up. It wasn't worth the hassle of apparently only being able to build from stone

1. build fires along the coast line to make sailing easier;
2. use paths to travel between resources / base;

5. use signs to show in which direction a certain biome is
6. draw the map yourself (and have fun with that)

No, I meant to cover the fire a 2x2m wooden wall and a single (26°) roof piece would usually be enough.

When you want to create the minimalist shelter, using 2 (2x2m) wooden walls and two 26° roof pieces will be enough.

Problem is that you also will need a fire, which can be put at the other side of the wall and covered with a third - or fourth - roof piece.

Without fire you can't sleep.

I don't lnow why they wouldn't allow that. It's been mentioned multiple times in various channels here and so far I haven't seen anyone telling them: "You're not allowed to do that."
Most likely because the maps aren't the same all the time as we use a seed generator for it.

Edit: If drawing a map by hand would be illegal, what do you think the Valheim World Generator site would be? It's generating your map based upon the seed, so - I think - it kinda uses the same method the ingame map is generated. Wich would mean that one certainly would be illegal. Yet, it is allowed to be used and even being allowed to be mentioned to be used without any consequences here.

And the server is owned by one of the developers, although I don't see him being very active here.
Which, considering there's a game to be developed, makes sense.

I suspect they are not changing how the world generation system works.

There is this large master world map with set island groups and mountain locations, which is much larger than the world map, and depending on the world seed the world take place somewhere inside the master map, generating biomes based on how they have been coded to appear in world (certain distance from center, density, etc), making new worlds different experiences.

I'm not sure, before I used a mod that only needed to draw 3 images and these 3 images had different resolutions, I don't remember exactly which resolution but currently that mod is no longer being continued by the author, I can't send pictures for you to see, I created the world with that mod, still keeping the original nature of the main game

You don't need to fully commit to switching. Something like a "Raspberry pi zero 2 w" costs a mere 15 usd and you can very easily set up pihole and pivpn on it. It's as simple as flashing ubuntu 25.04 with the Raspberry pi imager program to a microsd card, then ssh-ing in and running a couple of commands and clicking through a few menus. After all the set up is done, you just install an app on your phone(most likely wireguard) and entering the needed credentials into it.

Pihole is the thing that's actually doing the ad blocking. Pivpn is how you connect to it from outside of your home

Could you set it up on your current pc? Probably... But then you'd need to keep the pc on all the time. A Raspberry pi zero 2 w requires far less power to run than your main pc. A 15 usd investment to save hundreds on electricity? No-brainer.

5. run the pivpn install command, and click through the options. I recommend selecting wireguard over openvpn
6. create a profile for your phone with pivpn
7. install wireguard app on your phone
8. add the profile in the wireguard app
9. ???
10. profit

It seems like a lot of steps, but it's really not

3, 4, and 5 are easily the most complicated part of the whole thing

i mean, what's so impressive about doing curl -sSL https://install.pi-hole.net | bash and curl -L https://install.pivpn.io | bash and clicking through a few menus? easily the most complicated part is editing the router's dhcp dns settings and editing in allowed ips in the client conf file after pivpn is installed, because for some odd reason you have to edit the client's conf file with the information, not the server's.

and those commands are copied straight from the websites of pihole and pivpn

I mean... Making a pihole + pivpn device was one of the simpler things I've done with a Raspberry pi. I've also made one that can host a valheim dedicated server and run code that allows me to remotely press my pc's power, reset, clear cmos, and safe boot buttons, as well as one that turns 4 stepper motors 180° every x minutes for y minutes. Those required actual programming and troubleshooting to get them to play nice. Comparatively, pihole + pivpn is easy af.

Raspberry pi is surprisingly standardized. Unless you're doing something truly funky(like trying to run a valheim dedicated server on it), it's mostly just clicking through a set up

I do highly recommend getting yourself a small one to put pihole + pivpn on it. It makes your life so much better, blocking the vast majority of ads for you
